“What are you reading?” Lando asked as he entered the living room after he ended the stream.

“The Cruel Prince” she answered, not even looking at her boyfriend.

“That book from Tiktok? Didn't you buy it like yesterday?” he asked, seeing as his girlfriend had already read the ⅔ of the book.

“Well, I did,” she said and looked at him. “It’s really gripping,” she added. “I haven't read so many pages since, I don't know, I was reading The Chronicles of Narnia” she announced with a smile on her face.

She was happy because reading was giving her a kick again. She wasn't reading for a long time until now, because she was working and traveling with Lando and she was still in blind spot with Frank Herbert's “Dune” and she didn't want to read to be honest.

“Well, then what is it about? Who is the cruel prince?” he asked, sitting next to her.

“I don't really know,” she answered. “There are three brothers and each of them is a prince and each is cruel” she said, but judging from Lando's face, she knew that answer didn't satisfy him. “So there is a prince called Cardan and people from Tiktok think that he is that cruel prince,” she said.

“Why?” the guy asked curiously.

“Well, um, he popped Jude, the main character, and her sister into the river and they almost drowned” she chuckled a little.

“He did WHAT?” Lando was truly worried about what his girlfriend was reading.

“Oh, and he has a tail,” she added with pink cheeks.

“Don't even tell me you like him” she only covered her face with a book and he knew.

“You know I like Timothée and people are fancasting him as Cardan and you know, Lan” she said and bookmarked the page and closed the book. “My heart belongs to you and only you” she announced and kissed his cheek.

“And that main character?” he asked about the plot again.

“She's a human, has a twin sister and when they were seven their step dad killed their parents and kidnapped them to the magic world. Oh, and she hates Cardan and he hates her” she chuckled at his face after she stopped talking about Jude.

“You really need to stop reading this,” Lando sighed and hugged her.

“You know, Cardan’s style in clothing is extravagant so if you…” she started but he cut her off by kissing her.

“Remind me on Halloween” he said only and kissed her again.

Summary: You're a new teacher at a large and influential school. It's a risky step for you, as you've been running from your ex for almost two years. Especially when the other teachers don't seem eager to make friends. Or rather, two teachers in particular: Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.

Author's Note: Welcome, dear readers. Please leave your comments if you enjoy fanfiction. This fanfic takes place almost in the real world (with the addition of werewolves) and is not a wizarding fanfic. There will be some differences and changes in things from the Harry Potter story or other fanfics in the HP universe, but I promise to do my best writing this fanfic. There will be a love triangle coming in this fanfic. So, dear readers, just as in this fanfic it's meant to imagine Remus Lupin as being Andrew Garfield and Sirius Black as being Ben Barnes, now I present to you the fancast of Severus Snape as being actor Enzo Vogrincic. Imagine him as Snape if you can.

Severus Snape is alive. This brings you a sense of relief as you are not, and never were, a murderer. However, upon regaining consciousness, he had no memory of who you were or what he was doing there. He only knew he'd been attacked by something because of the pain in his body. After you concocted an excuse for his injury, he simply wanted to leave, and that's exactly what he did. Of course, before he woke up, you had already gone to the cabin to find some clothes to wear. In fact, before he woke up, you were planning how to bury him. But with him waking up disoriented and not remembering who you were, you felt that, in a magical way, at least one of your problems was solved. Now, dressed in what is probably Lupin's clothes, you head towards Hogwarts, hoping not to encounter any more problems.

"Miss Y/L/N, could you accompany me to my office?" is the first thing you hear as soon as you arrive at the entrance of Hogwarts. Great, you're about to lose your job at the worst possible moment in your life. Minerva McGonagall doesn't look at all pleased as she says this, staring at you. You follow Professor McGonagall to her office. Your dismissal seems almost inevitable. When you enter the office, Sirius is standing while Draco, Harry, and Ron are seated in front of McGonagall's desk.

"I believe everyone knows why they're here. I was informed of your actions at the Hogwarts Ball last night," McGonagall says as she finishes closing the door to her office. You don't look at Sirius; you can't. Part of you is angry at being left behind, even though it doesn't make sense. Remus needed help more urgently than you did.

"Draco, you're conveniently forgetting that you hit Hermione, and that's why Ron hit you," Harry says, staring at Malfoy. Draco looks at him as if Harry had said something trivial.

"No one asked you to defend me, Potter. But since we're here, I fought with Draco because he hit Hermione, and then Harry fought with me because he's a pain in the neck. I'll accept any punishment that doesn't involve spending time with Harry or Draco," Ron says, and you can see that unresolved issues are not exclusive to you.

"And where were the two prom monitors while their students were attacking each other?" Mcgonagall asks seriously as she looks at you and Sirius. You still avoid looking Black in the eyes but you feel his gaze upon you.

"Unfortunately, I couldn't stop the fight in time. Professor Black was gone for a short time and I lost control of the situation." You speak with a slightly shaky voice. There is a growing nervousness inside you.

"Actually, it was my mistake. I shouldn't have leaving Miss Y/L/N alone. There was a horrible unforeseen event that almost caused Professor Lupin's death." Sirius speaks with a worried tone of voice, he must have Remus' health in mind.

"Now that we have clarified the events, I admit that you all disappointed me. If it were up to me, the two teachers would be fired and the students expelled. But upon consulting Headmaster Dumbledore, he pointed out that everyone had bad and good deeds. Draco Malfoy, you hurt a colleague of yours. But he was also a victim of aggression. Ron Weasley, You defended a colleague but attacked another. The same goes for you, Harry Potter. Thanks to Professor Y/L/N, the fight ended. And Professor Black no matter how irresponsible it was, saved someone's life." McGonagall says this looking at you all with a look that could kill. We are all irresponsible to some extent.

"However, consequences must be assigned for your wrongful actions. Y/N and Sirius, you will be responsible for cleaning the ballroom used yesterday. As for the students: Malfoy, Weasley and Potter will be responsible for assisting you in this task. Once you complete this task, you will be held in detention for a minimum of two months.” McGonagall speaks and you can't help but feel bad about it all. She took it harder on them than you did.

"Professor McGonagall, Professor Y/L/N, had already grounded us in detention." Draco Malfoy speaks and you feel embarrassed. Now that you will be humiliated.

"The teacher was fulfilling her role. Even the time she gave you in detention will be served after the time I gave you three. Now everyone is dismissed." McGonagall speaks, and you understand that she may no longer have the patience to put up with looking at you. For a moment, you feel like a child who has done something wrong and is being scolded.

"I don't want to hear what you have to say to me. There's nothing I want to hear. If you want some advice, Harry, try making friends with Malfoy. You seem made for each other," Ron says as you all leave McGonagall's office. Harry seems upset seeing his friend abruptly distance himself like that. Weasley runs off, while Harry and Draco stand looking at each other. Sirius, for some reason, is also observing them just like you.

"He'll forgive you. You just need to hate me like everyone else does. But I'd hurry. Weasley is too temperamental. Tomorrow, he might replace you with a rat," Draco Malfoy says, looking at Harry Potter. Malfoy's words bring a certain pain in facing the fact that he's hated by a portion of people at Hogwarts. You watch the poor blonde-haired child leave your field of vision almost as quickly as the red-haired child did. Poor little creatures suffering from petty misunderstandings.

"If it's any consolation, Harry, I think you did the best you could. Sometimes, even when we do our best, we still get hurt. But you're a smart boy; you'll know how to overcome this." You gently touch Harry's head, trying to console him. He looks at you, adjusts his glasses, and gives a weak smile. Then he says goodbye to you and Sirius and walks away. You don't wait for any movement from Sirius and simply start walking towards your room. The last thing you want right now is to talk to him.

"So I'm the one you decided to blame for what happened yesterday, apparently," Sirius Black says as you walk to your respective rooms. You don't say anything, just keep walking. When you reach the corridor to your rooms, he pulls you into a corner, making your back hit the cold wall, leaving you face to face with him.

"Are you going to force me to talk to you?" you ask, trying to move away from Sirius, but his arms trap you.

"Yes, I will. You won't look at me, you don't want to talk to me. You haven't asked how Remus is doing, and on top of that, you're making that super sexy angry face that, instead of scaring me, is turning me on…" Sirius starts to say, but you cover his mouth with your hand. His eyes watch you as if you were a painting, while your fingers rest on his lips.

"Stop talking nonsense and tell me how your boyfriend is doing. Will Remus be okay?" you ask, removing your hand from his mouth so he can answer.

"He’s fine. The bullet just grazed him. But coincidentally or not, the silver bullet kind of affected the wolf part of Lupin. The village doctor is going to transfer him to Hogwarts soon." Sirius says, and you feel like hitting him. The way he spoke made it sound like Remus was dying.

"Now that I know that, can I go?" you ask, staring seriously at Sirius as he begins to look annoyed with you.

"What's wrong with you?" Sirius says in an angry tone, as if not understanding at all. Your indifference must be bothering him.

"I'm a complete idiot, that's what's wrong with me. You tangled with my ex, who nearly killed your little boyfriend. Then I tried to help and ended up bitten by Remus. I almost died, almost killed my ex, and now I turn into a werewolf. Now tell me, how would you be if all that had happened to you?" You speak, getting worked up, with some anger. Everything went wrong yesterday, waking up with blood in your mouth and disoriented, not knowing exactly what you did, was awful, and right now your anger is directed at Sirius.

"And it's my fault? You're going to blame me for everyone's mistakes, including yours?" Sirius asks, anger and maybe defiance in his eyes.

"I will blame you. You and Lupin. I never should have gotten close to you. Now I'm sentenced to spend my life transforming into something dangerous. Do us both a favor and stay out of my life. And send my best to Lupin, but I'd prefer he stay away from me too." You speak, using all your strength to push Sirius's arms away from you. You storm into your room shortly after, like a storm about to break.

You hear Sirius enter his room shortly after, slamming his door shut. There's silence for a while. You pace around your room, and he seems to do the same in his. Eventually, you decide to open the bathroom door—the place where you both used to meet. And there he is, on his side of the bathroom, looking confused and tense. You look at him, unsure of what to do. Then, both of you have the same idea. He starts walking towards you, and you move towards him.

"I'm fine with the idea of ​​you making me your villain. If it's going to make you happy, blame me. Hate me. But don't turn away. I'd rather your hate be directed at me, personally and preferably with clothes off." Sirius speaks and you don't even take two seconds to think. You pull him towards him and kiss him. With all the desire you feel to have him close to you. Your fingers run along Sirius' chest, while you slowly take off his clothes. His lips seeming like they want to consume all of you. He holds your legs pulling you up. Your legs wrap around Sirius' waist as you hold onto his hair.

"I hate you." You whisper against Sirius' mouth. He smiles and bites your lip then kisses you again. The slight taste of blood that his bite leaves in your kiss is exciting. Unfortunately, a knock on the door interrupts you, causing you to almost fall.

"Professor Y/L/N? Would you mind talking to me for a bit?" You hear Draco Malfoy's voice passing through your door. Your eyes They meet Sirius's who seems reluctant to let you go. He kisses your neck and you hold him tight as you return to the floor. Soon after, you hear another knock on the door, this time in Sirius's room.

"Sirius, would you have a moment to talk?" Harry Potter asks as he taps Sirius' door. You both adjust yourself so you don't look inappropriate and go to your respective rooms to help your students.

YANDERE HP GOLDEN ERA; SLYTHERIN & RAVENCLAW

i have so many ideas mostly revolving around past oc concepts, but in general i think the slytherin's have the most yandere potential? aside from traits (cunning, determined, yada) that go hand in hand with yandere, i also find it easier to pin point the root of their tendencies. there's slytherins like draco who are straight up entitled, and some like theo who have been raised harshly, it's not difficult to imagine a scenario where draco, theo, blaise, .. develop into the yanderes we all know and love.

there's no plan for structuring my harry potter writings, but i think it'll mostly be brainstorming headcanons. i'm focusing on the golden era, so i'll write for characters alive during this time. I'll come up with a full character list and cast eventually but for now i'm most interested in getting ideas/requests for slytherin boys (blaise, draco, goyle, lorenzo, mattheo, theodore, adrian, terrence, marcus) and ravenclaw boys (anthony goldstein, michael corner, roger davies, terry boot) but gred and forge are always welcome as well.

okay so general rules for requests: only send in requests for golden era characters (there is a loop hole "if james survived" here if you're desperate but im mostly inspired to write the characters i've listed out. reader/darling is always gender neutral, no loopholes here. also i tend to cover both platonic and romantic paths (if applicable) either way in my writings so no need to specify. that all being said hound me with asks and any thoughts.

anyways here are some headcanons that have been clogged up in my brain recently;

ANTHONY GOLDSTEIN (fancast: tarjei sandvik moe): my latest fixation, chat gpt molded most of my headcanons for yandere him. okay so not much is known about him but i'm going the route of jewish = polish = kowalski + queenie grandson / great grandson. all we have for a personality is 'friendly and good-natured' so i'm going to be making mountains out of molehills here.

i can imagine his intentions were pure first, he saw his darling didn't have the best upbringing, perhaps was a fractured individual, and 'desperately needed someone'. so he befriends them. for a long time, he's fully convinced himself his actions are done out of concern for his darling, other people really were just going to hurt them, and weren't trustworthy. and making good decisions has always been a strong suit of his, he isn't a ravenclaw for nothing, so his darling should just sit back, relax, and enjoy his company whilst he takes care of the hard stuff, alright?.

what started as a protective instinct turned into possessive jealousy, why does his darling want to pair up with malfoy for a potions assignment when he's far much more intelligent and easier to work with. actually, why do they have to speak to anyone else but him anyway? if they want a supportive friend, he's always been there. they want to banter with someone? anthony can do that!. they have a crush? they want romance? they want to overthrow the ministry of magic? no matter, he's a fast learner, and better for them than anyone else would be.

for the most part, anthony appears innocent, it's probably his darling who looks like the clingy, overattached one, because no matter what anyone else tells them, anthony will vilify them in the eyes of his darling, bringing his darling closer to him, gradually becoming more and more dependent on his constant presence. which is what he has subconsciously been working towards since he met them.

anthony is wholly devoted to his darling, and is among the more selfless yanderes (lookin at you draco). he has no future planned out, and allows his darling to take charge of the relationship so long as they don't look at anyone else. he's one of the more moldable yanderes; he adapts to his darlings personality, instead of having them adapt to his (camera pans to draco).

he's only really a danger to his darlings social life (and the lives of anyone who tries to tempt his darling away). his obsession is quiet for the most part, unlike others (draco) he doesn't need to resort to extreme measures (kidnapping) as he's able to read his darling like an open book (anthony inherited queenies legillimency and no one can convince me otherwise), and is thus able to ancitipate their needs, thoughts and desires. he'll become the only person their comfortable around;

anthony portrays himself as the one person who truly understands and supports his darling. he'll go to great lengths to prove his loyalty, even if it means crossing boundaries or engaging in morally ✨questionable✨ acts. once they finally realise just how tight of a hold he has on them, they'll be too dependent on him to do anything about it.

The Parliament by Aimee Potwatka: I love a book with a weird comp title pitch, and this one is The Princess Bride meets the Birds. A young woman is teaching a group of pre-teens at the library when a parliament of murderous owls descends on the building. To keep them distracted, she reads from her favorite fantasy novel. Graphic here!

Island of the Sea Women by Lisa See is a historical fiction novel about the women divers of Jeju in 1940s Korea. This has some moments that genuinely shocked me.

Dragonfruit by Makiaa Lucier: This was a pure cover buy for me! This is a fun YA fantasy novel about an exiled young woman and the prince of her island searching for dragons. Very fun. Falls into some YA traps, but the setting makes up for it. Graphic here!

Swordheart by T Kingfisher is one of the only romantasy books I've read and liked! This is so fun. It's about a widow & an immortal paladin trapped in a sword. When she draws the sword, he is bound to magically protect her. The grumpy/sunshine fantasy book of my dreams! Graphic here with one of my personal favorite fancasts I've ever done.

Say Hello to my Little Friend by Jennine Capo Crucet: Okay I put this on my mid year book tag as biggest surprise and said I didn't know if I loved it or hated it and that remains lol but since I still think about it I have to put it on here. This is another comp title read, with Scarface meets Moby Dick. After he fails as a Pitbull impersonator, Ismael Reyes decides to follow in the steps of the main character of the film Scarface. At the same time, Lolita the orca at the local aquarium, muses on her captivity. The two of them circle each other throughout the book and it's about immigration and loss of culture and violence and language... Idk I just think about it a lot. I don't know that I recommend it. I just think about it.

Funny Story by Emily Henry: I went on a rom-com binge and read several really fun romances, but this was my favorite. When Daphne's fiance leaves her for his female best friend, Daphne needs a place to stay. She ends up moving in with the previously mentioned best friend's ex-boyfriend (and they were roommates...) and the two of them begin fake dating as a revenge scheme. But then you'll never guess what happens?! Graphic here.

My Aunt Is a Monster by Reimena Yee is a graphic novel about a young blind girl who must go live with her mysterious aunt after the death of her parents. All about adventures and disability. So good!

Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis: Gav wakes up with no memories and realizes he's trapped in a goblin filled castle of a terribly villainous wizard. Unfortunately, Gav comes to realize that he is the terribly villainous wizard, that these goblins work for him, and he has no idea why he has a princess trapped in a tower. Super fun and silly, just a good time.

A Letter to the Luminous Deep by Sylvie Cathrall Oh gosh, one of the most whimsical books I've ever read. This is an epistolary fantasy novel set in an underwater world, following two people writing letters back and forth to uncover the mystery of their disappeared siblings, who fell in love while writing letters. So lovely. First in a series, just an fyi!

I watched under the red hood recently so maybe 🔥 + Jason in it?

first of all, in order to discuse this, I need to establish the Really Big Changes between that movie and comics canon because... yeah, they're huge lol.

in the comics, Bruce and Jason's relationship had been fracturing in his last days as robin, because Bruce suspect Jason of pushing a rapist with diplomatic immunity from a balcony (the comic leaves this ambiguous. I prefer it this way). with terrible timing, Jason finds out that the mother that raised him wasn't his biological mother, so he sets out on a search for new family. after a whole international quest, he finds her... and she gives him up to the Joker in order to cover her *check's notes* embezzling crimes. the rest is history.

Jason is not brought back by the Lazarus Pit (and Ra's certainly wanted nothing to do with him lol). he awakes one day on his coffin because of comic-typical nonsense (alternate version of superman punched the world?? and it "set things right" because Jason was never "meant" to die). he digs his way out, gets hit by a car, gets taken to a hospital, stays in a comma, awakens but ~catatonic, escapes and wanders the streets stealing and sharing food with the homeless... then a league ally finds him, Talia al Ghul is informed, and takes Jason under her wing. when he's not healing fast enough for Ra's tastes and he wants to take Jason a way to the farm, Talia throws him into the Pit without Ra's permision.

in their final confrontation, Bruce is far less calm and doesn't throw the batarang to Jason's hand: he throws it to his neck, with potential lethal force, to fully stop him. then the Joker blows things up. it's kind of implied that Jason dies, but maybe the same magic (there's a purple light thingy?) took effect, so he eventually returns to annoy Dick in New York and briefly turn into a tentacled monster. that's not relevant here though.

oh, and Black Mask didn't need to free the Joker. he was already chilling in some amusement park, as he does. while Batman did... eh. who knows.

there are other, less important changes. because comics are weird and quirky and inherently hard to adapt in a way general audiences will take seriously. a very funny one is that the assassin Jason kills when he and Bruce are fighting side by side calls himself Captain Nazi.

okay so. I have MIXED FEELINGS about the film, precisely because of these changes (well, minus the Captain Nazi one, but that is REALLY funny of Jason, imo). I like it a lot... but I'm also bummed it removes Talia's importance... and that it backs the post-death narrative pushed by DC that Jason died because he was "reckless"/eagerly violent as Robin... the changes pertaining Bruce... and most of all, Jason's resurrection (again, I get it's comics-weird. But I really like the digging-out-of-one's-grave's motif!! and it could've easily been left ambiguous - the characters in the comics have no idea of why Jason came back, so. it could remain a mystery!).

and as I said, re: Bruce. sometimes I'm annoyed because the changes seem designed to make Bruce seem less... objectionable lol. other times I'm curious because the changes because they suggest a very different person in some key ways that spark my imagination in fic-related ways. depends on the day!

but overall it's a good film and a more than competent adaptation, that REALLY showcases my perfect son who never did anything wrong in his life xD, that portrays him as competent (very important to me), and that hits just the right spot when it comes to all my Jason and Bruce-Jason FEELS. and teeny tiny robin!Jason was adorable.

(I'm very happy the fandom outgrew its phase of fancasting Jensen Ackles as Jason though. what a travesty).

Alright, your turn! If YOUR OCs starred in a movie, who would you pick to play them?

(I know you have a ton of OCs, feel free to just do the ones you can come up with a good answer for - I struggled to pick people for this and I have like half the OCs you do lol)

Alright so some of these people aren't actors or anything but they're definitely who I imagine the characters looking like-

Siv: Romy Flores, 100%. She's got the face, the nose, the "don't give a fuck" attitude. All she'd really need is gray contact lenses and either a haircut or a short wig.

Hailey: Lynk Lee isn't 100% perfect for Hailey, since Hailey has a more stocky, muscular build, but in the hypothetical movie, if she were to do some weight training, she could definitely do Hailey justice. Also, she'd need green/blue contacts for Hailey's post-death heterochromatic eyes.

Jay: Elliot Fletcher is the closest I can get to how I imagine Jay looking, though I would hypothetically want to cast someone who was both transmasc and physically disabled, since Jay is both.

Cassandra: Halle is absolutely perfect for Cassandra- though if she were to play the role, she'd need violet contacts for Cassandra's magic-corrupted eyes.

Arya: Cayley Spivey, 100%! This, but with elf ears and a shaggy mullet! (fun fact: Spivey was the fancast for Siv's original design)

Esme: Ava Max is my current fancast for her. She's got the bleach blonde hair, the "party girl" vibe and the angular yet cutesy face.

Gina: Ilianna Ayala Garcia would make a pretty good Gina, imo, though she's a little older than the actual Gina was when she died, what movie doesn't have a 20-something playing a teen?

Ember: Marina Summers, a queen who starred in S1 of Drag Race Philippines, is absolutely perfect for Ember!

Cat: Even though she doesn't necessarily look entirely like Cat, I've never been able to imagine anyone but Anna Cathcart as her. I think its just the vibes lol.

Kyle: This random-ass hockey player from Minnesota, Ryan Johnson, has been my faceclaim for Kyle since I first created the character.

Max: Heng Sokvisal makes a pretty good Max, just slap on a pair of glasses and we're good to go!

Khalil: Shameik Moore makes the perfect Khalil imo. No comments, just vibes. (though since Khalil works as a makeup artist I'd definitely give him some gold eyeliner or something)

Reggie: Winnie Harlow's pretty much perfect for Reggie, though she'd need blue contacts because Reggie has xer dad's eyes.

Ameerah: Amandla Stenberg makes an absolutely amazing Ameerah, I'd definitely want her to have the light blonde hair like in the picture, and she'd need pink contacts to match Ameerah's description.

Rania: Denise Bidot, 10000000%. She's been my faceclaim for her for like, FOREVER.

Director Hawke: Julianne Moore, specifically in her "President Coin" look. Director Hawke was loosely based on President Coin, so I've always imagined her looking somewhat like her.

Meredith: Rachel Zegler, but with glasses and lighter brown hair.

Onnie: Same as Siv lol it's her multiversal variant

Jessi: Same as Esme, multiversal variant

Pippa: Veondre Mitchell is the perfect Pippa! She was actually the one who I initially based Pippa's appearance off of.

Hyun-Ki: Park Sung-Hoon is a pretty good Hyun-Ki. From his dramatic looks to his honestly kinda gorgeous voice. I don't doubt he'd make a great Hyun-Ki

Thalia: Teyonah Parris is Thalia, there's no doubt about it. Ever since I watched Wandavision and saw her as Monica Rambeau, I knew that she'd be perfect to play Thalia in her hypothetical movie.

Reyna: K-Pop soloist AleXa is a pretty good fancast for her, though she'd need some pretty good SFX makeup or CGI due to Reyna being a near-human felid species.

Athena: Alaqua Cox (AKA Echo from Hawkeye) is how I imagine Athena looks, but with a white streak in the front of her hair (and a lot more seductive of an aesthetic)

Laila: Youtuber Beth Crowley is my faceclaim for Laila, though as Laila I'd want her to either don a short bob or a short wig, and amber contacts.

Marie: Mayu Maeshima is a great faceclaim for Marie, though she'd need SFX makeup for Marie's Romulan features and her Borg implants.

Qiara: Due to Qiara's nature as a being of pure energy, she doesn't necessarily take the same form at all times. However, the one she frequents the most could very well be portrayed by Chiquis Rivera.

Liah: Raquel Rodriguez would make a great Liah, she has the right height and build for her, she would just need SFX makeup for Liah's Cardassian features, and hazel contacts.

Samira: Desiree Akhavan would make a pretty good Samira. She definitely fits how I imagine Samira to look, and she's got the right vibe to play her as well.

Sohelia: Golshifteh Farahani is a pretty good faceclaim for Sohelia, though she'd need some light makeup to make her skin more ashy, due to Sohelia being half-vampire.

Vanessa: Storm Reid is absolutely perfect for Vanessa, though for most of the movie she'd be replaced with either a puppet or CGI double for her monster form.

Dolores: Diane Guerrero is perfect for Dolores. She'd just need some minor makeup in order to look more like a vampire, i.e. ashy skin, red eyes, fangs, etc.

I don't have faceclaims for Eric, Jacob, Antonio, Cory, Soraya, Aldrich, Matt, or Victorie yet.

Pairing - Benjicot Blackwood x Whent!OC

Summary - Following a harrowing accident, Lucinda demands answers of the Blackwood Lord to varied results.

Surprise! To me and to you, I was not intending to write this today. But here we are anyway!

Time stopped making sense for Lucinda. She writhed in bed, feeling the lick of flames over her body. At times she could see the burning man in the corner of her room. It had always been there , usually just out of her sight. Maddeningly it was there and not there. That changed when she came back from her escape attempt. She could see its horrible lidless eyes, half melted and dripping, staring straight into her soul. It was his fault she had been burned, she'd decided. The sword had caught flame and burned her. Who else but this wretched fiend would wield such magic? Though she was not discounting the Lord Blackwood, who appeared periodically. She would hiss at the sight of him every time he appeared but he kept returning anyway. When he came this time, she resolved to ask him a question or two. He hadn’t been burned by the sword and that didn’t make any sense to her. Did he know the burning man? Was he the burning man?

The rattle of bones in the corner made every hair on her body stand up. He’d had muscles and tendons the last time she looked at him. It took every fiber of her concentration not to look at the horrid thing wanting her attention. Her good hand clutched the sheets and her jaw was tight at the effort. It had never spoken to her but she got the sense that were she to look at it right now, that would change. Her skin felt prickly and the walls pulsed in a grotesque way that matched the frantic beating of her heart.

A light knock sounded at her door and she was thankful for once when the wood melted away to reveal her captor. She was shivering, though she was not cold. She was sweaty and uncomfortable at his entrance despite her relief at banishing the bag of bones haunting her. She focused on not hissing at the man while he changed the bandage on her hand. Though she swore he rubbed something on the new bandages, she allowed him to wrap her hand with it. He was as quiet as he always was, saying nothing. She wondered what was going on in his head, if he had thoughts. Maybe he was like any predator and thought only of being.

“There’s a burning man that follows me around. He gave me that sword.”

The only indication he heard her was the slide of his eyes to meet hers. A chill went through her under his gaze. Then he reached up to place his hand on her head and she let him, warily eyeing him the whole time.

“You have a fever.” His voice was disembodied and husky. She never saw his lips move, just heard the words from somewhere far off.

“I might have a fever but there is a burning man. His eyes are half melted, gave me that bramble crown too.” She insisted, growing irritated with his casual attitude.

“You should sl-“

“Stop!” She cut him off, scowling.

It had become clear to her that he had some power of suggestion over her and she did not want to sleep right now. She wanted some fucking answers, real and detailed ones.

“I don’t need any more sleep, thanks anyway.” Sarcasm dripped from her lips. “I want you to explain what the fuck is going on here!”

Her desk had been disturbed, she could see that now as he leaned against it. Had he been snooping through her things?

“You’re not well. We should talk some other-“

“We’ll talk now.”

The two of them stared at each other equally annoyed. She wanted to sit up further as she was only propped up on pillows. She was frustrated that he was standing, or rather half leaning on her desk, while she was stuck laying down. After an intense staredown that lasted longer than it should have, he relented.

“Fine. What do you want to kn-“

“Where is my father?”

He sighed and then walked around the desk to pull out her chair, sitting in it before answering. She watched in contempt, silently fuming. He could lay claim to anything in this castle, except anything inside this room. His casual use of her things made her irrationally angry. Of course he saw her stuff as his, they were married. She was simply property like everything else here.

“Your father is dead, though I think you already knew that.”

She had begun to suspect her father was dead but she was holding out hope anyway. She didn’t pause to let the information sink in though. She couldn’t bear to process it, so she barreled into her next question.

“What does the crown think of this whole ordeal?”

She maintained eye contact with him the entire time, hardly blinking as she tried to gather a read on the man.

“The crown is busy at the present moment with much bigger issues.”

“And if I managed to get word out to them?”

His countenance then was for the first time smug. “Not a worry I have.”

Inside she felt like she was burning, like she could rip her own skeleton out to reveal flaming bones. Her combined frustration and helplessness grew at his self assured words. But she swallowed the rage threatening to consume her and moved on to another topic.

“Why did that sword not burn you in the woods?”

That wiped the smug look off of his face to her satisfaction.

“You shouldn’t have tried to leave.”

She rolled her eyes, wishing she could throw both hands up but settling for one. “You shouldn’t have stormed the castle. You shouldn’t force people into isolation after you murder their family. You shouldn’t wander around like a fucking creepy specter. We all have flaws. How about you make one your strengths answering the gods damned question?”

He regarded her silently, expression once again unreadable. She was getting really tired of being confused all of the time. Now she would carry the scars of that confusion forevermore.

“You’re not allowed to leave. Remember the cut I gave you during the wedding?”

She nodded, dread gripping her tightly as she began to understand what had happened. “You’re doing blood magic?”

He didn’t answer her but she hadn’t really said it to him. She knew the Blackwoods made sacrifices to the weirwood trees and that the lord in front of her was a skin changer. But blood magic rituals were a different matter, especially when it was her blood he was using. He’d evidently bound her to the castle grounds and that’s why she wasn’t able to leave. It didn’t explain the sword bursting into flames. She glared at him, still unhappy with what she knew.

“What about the sword?”

He stood now and she knew he wasn’t going to tell her anything else. As he began to walk away from her she groaned in frustration.

“You can’t keep me in the dark forever!”

He turned back to her as he opened the door, she could barely make out his form behind the curtains of her bed. She could hear him perfectly clear though, as if he were right beside her.

“You should sleep.”

Darkness enveloped her completely then. The irony was not lost on her as she drifted off into unconsciousness

When Lucinda woke she felt mostly fine. She could see from her window that it was still dark out though she could not discern the time beyond that. Her hand throbbed much less this time around and she saw no sign of the crackling bones in the corner of the room. Both were a relief. She hadn’t been awake a full five minutes before Lord Blackwood knocked on her door.

She knew it was him and considered sending him away. But he brushed into the room without waiting for her to reply either way. She longed to see any other face than the one staring down at her from the foot of her bed.

“And what do you want this time?” She snapped, tired of his piercing eyes and silent mouth.

“You need to get up.”

“You have such a way with words. Incredible bedside manner, truly. Give up the sword, you’re wasted in the field.”

He stared at her a moment longer. “Do you feel better now? Can you answer me or have you got another quip?”

Her cheeks burned faintly with embarrassment and stubbornly she doubled down.

“As a matter of fact, I do have another. Why don’t you jump out of that window really quick, I’ve attached it to the second to last brick at the bottom of the wall. You can’t miss it on your way down.”

He walked around her bed as she spoke, causing her tone to pitch up in fear as she went on. By the time he reached her at the head, her heart was racing.

“Either I can assist you out of the bed or I can assist you out of the bed.”

“Any variation between the two?” She was pushing her luck but what did she have to lose anymore? He needed her, enough not to openly kill her. And that meant she could be as annoying as she wanted.

“Quality of care.”

She rolled her eyes at him.

“Fine, whatever. Do you want to annoy me to death slowly over time? Cause I promise, I’m okay with a quick demise.”

She swung her good leg out of the bed and grasping the lord's hand she slowly began to pull herself upright. The pain was not unbearable but still there throbbing to life the second she moved. She gasped, breathing heavily, once she finally stood up completely.

“Not true. You came back from the watery halls.”

She had almost forgotten he was there in her effort to stand. She shuddered at his words, remembering the icy cold void that longed to have her in its clutches again. Slowly they began to walk across her room, back and forth.

“Please don’t remind me of that place. It wants me back, you know.”

He frowned at that, asking, “Do you feel the cold again?”

She shrugged. “I kind of always feel it.”

She was winded and tired from the few laps they did around the room. So he led her back over to the bed, though she was loath to return.

“Can I not see anyone else? Surely a handmaiden could come in to help me wash.”

“How cold do you feel exactly?” He ignored her question completely.

Huffing as she dragged herself back under the covers she said, “I don’t know! It’s just a sliver, deep inside me. Now about that handmaid?”

He looked deep in thought at her words. “Does it feel as if you left a piece of yourself behind?”

Now she groaned, he wasn’t listening to her at all!

“Look man, you send someone to their death they aren’t supposed to come back. You did this. I don’t know what to tell you but I would appreciate a bath. So if you could send someone in, that would be great.”

His eyes met hers again and she wanted so badly to pitch him out the window. He was shadow staining her life, he shouldn’t be here.

“No one else is coming. Help yourself or wait it out.”

She did not gape at him or even tense her jaw in anger. A thousand insults filtered through her mind in a second, each more devastating than the last. But instead she sat very still and engaged him in his silent showdown. She would manage on her own and then she would start exploring the castle again. There was only one way to figure this mess out and it involved that sept beneath the ground. He couldn’t watch her every minute of every day.

“What’s your game, Blackwood?” She didn’t expect him to answer in any capacity. She just couldn’t stop herself from asking. Nothing he did made any sense to her and rarely did his words clear any of it up either.

“If you make it out of bed, come and find me.”

When the door slammed close behind him the air grew ten, fifteen, twenty degrees hotter. A crackling and snapping noise rattled from the far corner of the room. Worst of all were the shadows thrown by the raging blaze of flames to her left. She had no choice but to turn her head and confront the flayed man.

He was there just as she expected but oddly enough, he was covered in armor. She could see where the metal grew white hot in places from the flames underneath. He was baking inside that armor and somehow it was worse than seeing the muscle and sinew. Other bits of the armor glowed red from the heat but the sword in his hand was melting, dripping molten metal on the stone floors. Then the clank and shuffle of metal could be heard as it lumbered towards her. The sounds of burning flesh intensified the closer it grew and she found herself wishing it were all bones today instead. A funny thought in a hollow way, which burning horror would you prefer today? Would you rather it be fleshy or calcified?

She still didn’t know if the thing was real or imagined. Surely real as it had given her tangible gifts. But how could it be real? And why wouldn’t Lord Blackwood acknowledge it? The last question was of less consequence as she thought he just enjoyed being difficult. She wanted to ask the witch in the tall tower but she had not heard a single whisper of her since she last spoke with her about the Lord. Whether it was real or not was of less importance to her when it was standing a foot away from her bed, the sound of sizzling flesh fresh in her ears.

She waited tensely in anticipation of its actions. Every muscle in her body was coiled intensely, ready to move at a moment's notice. But the thing just stood there, melting sword in hand. She felt compelled to hold her own sword against all reason and logic. The feeling grew to such a pitch she could not ignore it and so she dragged herself out of bed. She walked past the blistering armor and grabbed her sword from its spot on her desk. The moment she held it in her hands she turned to face the knight, both holding their swords at the ready. Inexplicably they moved towards each other until at last steel on steel, the world shifted and bent around them.

Lucinda felt dizzy and disoriented, the clash of steel was still ringing in her ears. But everywhere she looked the image in front of her was wrong. The knight was upside down or was it her that was upside down? Nothing was where it was meant to be and somehow their swords were still clashing together. Time grew thin and weak again.

this is an illustration my friend Dasha [more of her art: https://vk.com/jou_ki] made for a very vague AU in which Hilde is a spoiled 'old money' mr know-it-all attending a fancy dark-academia-styled college, and Colossus is a seemingly phlegmatic cemetery caretaker. i don't remember the plot that this AU was supposed to have, but i'm pretty sure it included magic realism and some mystical detective stuff. also Colossus might or might not have been a mystical creature himself, wielding some hidden special powers (and having glowing eyes). who knows!! i just really really love the picture that my friend made!!!!

some camelia solis headcannons

(for context camelia is a cannon hp character and was a professor at hogwarts during the 90s. she hated snape and died during the battle of hogwarts)

so i hc Camelia to be a Gryffindor in the year below the Marauders

She was a halfblood with her father being a muggleborn and her mother being a pureblood

Her father owned a diner that he inherited from his parents while her mother came from a very wealthy family so she helped out at the diner also

Camelia's family were rich as fuck

But she was an only child

her main group of friends are Dahlia Fleur-Peri, Edmund Lima, Augustus Pye, Carmen Wainscott & Greta Catchlove (all cannon characters)

Dahlia was her best friend

They were big party goers

During Camelias third year she was in an off again on again relationship with Bertram Aubrey

Their relationship ended during their fourth year when Camelia found out that he had been cheating on her over the summer holidays

A few days later Bertram was illegally hexed by James Potter and Sirius Black. Camila didn't know why until Peter Pettigrew let it slip that Dahlia had bribed the boys to do it

(James and Sirius illegally hexing Bertram is cannon but the reason is unknown)

After talking to Peter more about it Camelia realised that Dahlia was in love with her

Camelia eventually admitted her feelings for Dahlia during Dahlia’s parents Christmas Ball that year and they kissed

In 1979 Camelia’s father was killed in a random Muggle attack that took place in Yorkshire while he was visiting his parents, Camelia’s grandparents also were killed in the attack

Camelia didnt know much about the attack but in photograph that was published in the Daily Prophet she saw the figure of Severus Snape in the background

Camelia didnt even know if Snape had anything to do with the attack but just him being there was enough evidence she needed to blame him for the death of her father and gradparents

After graduating Hogwarts Camelia bagan teaching at Hogwarts

She was a very honest teacher and was informal with her students a lot

Dahlia and Camelia got married in 1987 and owned a house in Hogsmead

Camelia’s students all knew of Dahlia and would ask about her all the time. Depending on her mood Camelia would either go on a lovesick tangent about her wife or tell her students to fuck off and mind their own buisness

The man she took to Slughorn's christmas party in 1996 was her uncle, who also used to be a part of the Slug Club while he was at Hogwarts

In 1997 when the Death Eaters took over Hogwarts and the Ministry, Camelia decided to go back to Hogwarts to help protect her students from the Carrows and Snape while Dahlia moved in with Camelia’s mother

In late April 1998 Dahlia was accused of stealing magic and was sent to Azkaban where she died four days later

Camelia never found out about her wifes death or arrest. The day that Dahlia died was May 2nd 1998, the same day as the Battle of Hogwarts where Camelia fought with her colleagues and was killed during the first half of the battle

The Characters I Want You To Play

As a fan of Taylor Zakhar Perez, I often find myself daydreaming about the various characters I’d love to see him portray. Taylor’s impressive range as an actor, combined with his natural charisma and undeniable talent, makes him a versatile candidate for a plethora of roles. His performances in his previous projects have consistently showcased his ability to embody the complexity and dynamic energy of characters, and that makes him a favorite among dedicated fans and [hopefully] casting directors alike. 

With this idea in mind, I’ve personally compiled a list of dream roles that I believe would not only highlight his strengths as an actor but also allow him to explore new facets of his acting prowess. Note that these are just my personal choices and do not necessarily reflect the opinions and preferences of others, but I hope they spark your imagination as they have mine.

Taylor as Flynn Rider has been a long-time fancast favorite. With his charming persona and roguish good looks, Taylor can effortlessly bring Flynn’s character to life. Flynn’s scoundrel side, balanced with his loving and loyal nature, is something Taylor could portray flawlessly. It’s not just about the looks, although Taylor’s brown hair and espresso-colored eyes do bear a striking resemblance to Flynn. To me, it’s about the charisma he exudes, and that makes him the perfect candidate to play one of Disney’s most handsome heroes. 

Also imagine Taylor alongside someone like Sabrina Carpenter as Rapunzel—it would just be pure magic. Taylor’s ability to switch between a cheeky, mischievous rogue and a devoted, selfless hero is exactly what Flynn Rider’s character demands. Taylor’s natural charm and magnetic screen presence would truly make this role unforgettable.

RHYSAND (A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES BOOK SERIES)

To be quite honest, simply knowing that Taylor is aware of the ACOTAR series and the character of Rhysand is enough to make me scream. In my opinion, Rhysand is a morally gray character who, despite appearing broody and evil at first, has a lover’s heart underneath. Taylor could adeptly portray both the good and bad sides of Rhysand, and his physicality and racial background align well with the character. With the right co-star playing Rhysand’s love interest Feyre Archeron, Taylor could also provide excellent banter with good comedic timing, adding a touch of humor to the dark and intense setting of the ACOTAR universe. 

This humor would provide a necessary lightness to balance the story’s darker elements. Rhysand’s multi-faceted personality, from his fierce protective instincts to his vulnerable moments with Feyre, would allow Taylor to showcase his range as an actor. His deep, expressive eyes and commanding sort of alpha presence mixed with a gentlemanly nature make him a natural fit for the High Lord of the Night Court.

XADEN RIORSON (FOURTH WING/THE EMPYREAN BOOK SERIES)

Xaden is essentially the Rhysand of the Empyrean universe, because he and Rhysand share many similar traits. As a Wingleader and a key political figure in the rebellion, Xaden needs to be commanding, strategic and compassionate at the same time—which are qualities that Taylor has already somewhat demonstrated in his portrayal of Alex Claremont-Diaz in Red, White & Royal Blue. Screenrant.com even included Taylor as a potential actor for Xaden in the upcoming adaptation for the book series. With the right actress playing Violet, Taylor could deliver the same excellent banter and comedic timing, adding lightness to the dark and complex world of Navarre [which is the world that the story is set in].

Xaden’s role demands a balance of intensity and vulnerability, and those are qualities that Taylor has demonstrated in his previous roles and his ability to portray a character who is both a fierce warrior and a compassionate leader would bring the needed depth and authenticity to Xaden.

PATROCLUS (THE SONG OF ACHILLES)

Patroclus is a character who dislikes disappointing others and he is generally described as modest, honest, compassionate, loving, and willing to sacrifice himself for those he loves. Taylor could bring this character to life with his physique and the little nuances that make Patroclus a lovable character. Nicholas Galitzine, Taylor's co-star and friend, has even described him as an "Adonis," which fits perfectly with Patroclus's character. Patroclus’ journey from a young, exiled prince to Achilles�� devoted companion is filled with moments of quiet strength and deep emotional resonance.

Taylor’s ability to convey profound emotion and inner conflict would make his portrayal of Patroclus both compelling and heart-wrenching. His physicality, combined with his nuanced acting skills, would beautifully capture Patroclus’s gentle yet resilient nature.

CHRISTIAN HARPER (TWISTED LIES)

This is a more personal fan cast because reading this book series takes an acquired taste, but I believe that Taylor could excel as Christian Harper. There could possibly be debates over Christian's ethnicity given the chance that Taylor plays him because first of all, Christian is not Latino by any means, but I think Taylor's appearance and demeanor could fit the broody, morally gray alpha male character.

Also, Christian is known for his impeccable fashion sense because he’s always dressed in tailored wool suits and designer fits, which is a detail that aligns with Taylor’s high-ranking status in the fashion world and it could honestly give Taylor a chance to showcase some amazing and sustainable fits. 

Taylor’s ability to portray complex characters with hidden depths would bring Christian’s enigmatic personality to life. His portrayal could explore the duality of Christian’s character—his ruthless, protective side and his tender, vulnerable moments.

MIGUEL O' HARA/SPIDER-MAN 2099 (MARVEL)

Taylor in a Marvel movie? Yes, please! As a Marvel fan, this is easily a recent fancast that I got behind. Also, Taylor has expressed interest in starring in a Marvel film, and I think Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, is perfect for him. Marvel characters often have a balance of light and dark sides, and Taylor can embody this duality. Miguel is one of those characters who really has a dark and broody side, and recently, Taylor has expressed interest in doing something darker than his previous projects and so, I think this character is a good character for him to explore and it could probably bring out Taylor’s inner fanboy. 

Miguel’s Mexican heritage also aligns with Taylor’s own and that provides a gateway for an authentic representation of a Latino character/superhero. The character’s futuristic setting and unique storyline would allow Taylor to showcase his versatility as an actor. His portrayal could bring a fresh, dynamic energy to the Spider-Man franchise, highlighting both Miguel’s heroic, human and darker qualities.

DAMEN/PRINCE DAMIANOS (THE CAPTIVE PRINCE TRILOGY)

Physically, Taylor is perfect for the role of Damen. Character-wise, Damen is always concerned about the well-being of the Akielon people, especially the ones sent to Vere as slaves, which shows a side of vulnerability. Damen is also known to be warm, dedicated, honorable, idealistic, and friendly. He makes decisions for the sake of others, which often leaves himself vulnerable, but he doesn’t care. Taylor’s previous roles as Marco and Alex make him a good fit for Damen, showcasing his ability to portray vulnerability and dedication.

DON ALEJANDRO DELA VEGA/ZORRO

Taylor’s Mexican heritage makes him an ideal candidate for the iconic role of Zorro, who was previously played by Antonio Banderas. Zorro’s dashing charm, mischievous nature, and loyal spirit are traits that Taylor could effortlessly embody. A role like this would allow Taylor to fully embrace his Hispanic background and also give him a chance to try some fencing/sword play.

Whether playing a version related to Banderas’s Zorro or a new interpretation entirely, Taylor’s portrayal would be thrilling. The image of Taylor wielding a sword and a whip, coupled with his charismatic screen presence, would bring a fresh, exciting energy to this beloved character [and could probably send fans like me screaming].

ROBBIE REYES/GHOST RIDER (MARVEL)

While the idea of seeing Taylor’s handsome face burn via CGI isn’t appealing to me, I am open to the idea of him playing Robbie Reyes which is an iteration of the anti-hero, Ghost Rider. Robbie’s character is driven by vengeance and has a tragic backstory but takes up the mantle of Ghost Rider for his brother’s sake.

The ability to bring humanity to dark characters is a Marvel trademark and I think Taylor would be able to balance both the light and dark sides of your typical Marvel character and that could make him a good candidate for this role. His portrayal could explore Robbie’s internal struggles and his journey towards redemption, which could add a layer of depth to the Ghost Rider’s fiery persona.

LOGAN/WOLVERINE (MARVEL)

Taylor has expressed his love for the X-Men franchise in multiple interviews. Imagining him as Wolverine, with the proper training and storyline, is thrilling for me. That iconic Port photoshoot with his hair styled like Wolverine’s that he did back in December solidified this dream for me. Taylor could balance Wolverine’s light and dark sides, proving why Wolverine will forever be a Marvel favorite. His physicality and intense screen presence would bring a fresh take on this iconic character, blending raw power with deep emotional complexity.

These are just my personal fan casts for Taylor, and I fully acknowledge that others may have different opinions. It's important to remember that the joy of being a fan includes the freedom to dream and imagine our favorite actors in various roles. Manifesting these possibilities can be a fun and fulfilling thing and it allows us to explore the endless potential of Taylor's career. Regardless of whether he lands any of these roles, my admiration and support for Taylor will always stay there. 

Taylor has already proven himself to be an exceptional talent, and whatever direction he chooses to take his career, I have no doubt that he will continue to impress and inspire. Each project he undertakes showcases his versatility and dedication to his craft, and as fans, our role is to support and celebrate his journey. The beauty of his career is that it’s full of surprises, and part of the excitement [and waiting] is seeing what he will do next.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about the roles he plays but about the joy and inspiration he brings to our lives through his work. So here’s to Taylor Zakhar Perez, an actor of immense talent and potential—may his journey be as bright and exciting as the characters we dream of him portraying. Let's keep supporting him, celebrating his successes, and dreaming big, because that's what being a fan is all about.

For what it’s worth McGuire does identify as “half Roma”. That’s not a label I’d give someone without their say-so but it seems like a reasonable self descriptor if your dad is Roma and your mom isn’t

(I agree about the nuances of Romani identity. Like I think the ideal person to write Wanda and pietro would be someone who is roma and lives/lived in Eastern Europe at minimum. I don’t think specific country/region of origin is always super important in Oen Voices contexts but for their background it kind of is)

I get where you're coming from. The diaspora is very diverse, and should not be treated as interchangeable. I talk about this a lot in regards to casting, especially fancasts, because people are always coming up with Western European and British actors who are from completely different communities than the ones Wanda and Pietro might feasibly belong to, and that's really frustrating!

That said, I don't necessarily believe that a writer should need to perfectly match the character to be considered an authentic voice. Wanda and Pietro's story is definitely rooted in a specific time and place, so it would be amazing to find someone who can speak to that directly, but there are a lot of Romani writers and scholars out there who are more than capable of engaging with that subject matter with care and honesty, because they've already put in the work.

My issue with writers like McGuire or Howard is that I don't get the sense that they have done that work, or that tackling Romani representation has been a major priority for them. That's okay-- you know, people in minority communities don't need to always feel responsible for that, but it becomes a problem when you front a certain identity and then you totally drop the ball when you're actually writing Romani characters. And again, that's a judgement that I am mostly directing towards Howard.

So, for the Maximoffs, I think think it's really important for a writer to have a very direct relationship with traditional Romani culture, be familiar with Balkan/Central European Romani history, and have a working knowledge of Romani peoples' relationship to witchcraft and folk magic. It is possible to have that knowledge without necessarily being all of those things.

I've been wanting to do this for ages but I was too lazy to turn on my computer. I got the template here! Only like three of these characters are any degree of well-known, and I think I might actually be one of the only people on Tumblr who knows of two of them... Under the cut I talk a little about how each of them has inspired Sora.

Ibushi Arima: The Original inspiration. The reason Sora exists. The mold that Sora was shaped to fit. Essentially, I needed an OC to fill some holes in my backstory for Ibushi, so I made Sora. He has many things in common with Ibushi for that reason (rich background, unhappy childhood, deeply devoted to a small number of people). He has some key differences, as well, because he needed to have them (less conflict-averse, more ambitious).

Light Yagami: Sora is incredibly, blindingly smart (though not to the degree we're meant to believe Light is, because I'm pretty sure no actual human is as smart as Light is meant to be), and gorgeous, and charismatic, and well-off, but feels a profound disconnect between himself and most others. It takes him in a different direction than Light, however, with more loneliness and self-loathing. Essentially, Sora, like Light, is a guy who seems to have it all, but his internal life is dark and dysfunctional and broken. One of my fav tropes!

Diora di'Marano: She is one of the characters who I might be alone in knowing, which is such a shame, because she's one of my favorite characters in all of media. She's smart as fuck, subtle and patient, good at manipulating people, and overall incredibly skilled at maneuvering through her society to become powerful despite some not inconsiderable barriers. Most importantly for this post, she's motivated by love for a few people, and she doesn't care about much else, including herself. All that cunning and subtlety, and she uses it to protect people, then avenge them, then to protect new people, all the while using herself as a tool like any other. She and Sora would get along, I think.

Haruka and Michiru: Specifically I'm talking about the 90s anime version of these characters. I never watched the anime all the way through, but I remember being drawn to their pragmatism, which influenced the way Sora thinks. The inner senshi don't want anyone to die, and neither do Haruka and Michiru, really, but they recognize that in order to save the most people, they have to commit to causing a few deaths. Sora would do the same calculations.

Amarais Handernesse ATerafin: She is another beautifully pragmatic character. She has more principles than Sora, but she's clear-eyed about what she wants, and she's willing to do literally anything to achieve it; it's simply that some of the things she wants are to never resort to assassination, to leave a positive legacy, to uplift the most vulnerable instead of crushing them under her heel, etc., which rule out some methods of taking and holding power. (Sora does not share these admirable principles; where they are similar is that he, like Amarais, knows what he won't do because he's considered and analyzed it already and decided that it won't produce an acceptable result.) Amarais is also an unapproachable character, aware of her position and expecting others to be aware of it as well, but isolated and made incredibly lonely by that distance. Sora can be very much like that. Lastly, like Sora, she wants power. She wants to get to the top, and she's not sorry about it or ashamed of it, and she's not portrayed as evil for that.

Daemon Sadi: (Look, is he from a Problematic series? Yes. Do I recommend it? Absolutely not. But I read it when I was young, it changed me forever, and now I'm stuck like this.) (Also, he doesn't even have book cover art I could use for this meme; I used @/veliseraptor's fancast of Sendhil Ramamurthy.) Daemon is The Most Powerful Guy To Ever Exist in his canon, which I think freed me early on from the fear of making characters OP. If there's magic or innate superpowers in an AU, and if Sora has them, he's going to be very innately strong, simply because it fits his has-everything-except-happiness-and-love concept and because I want him to be. Daemon is also a rich, beautiful, clever character, subtle and deadly, who lives through a youth full of abuse that follows him for the rest of his life and informs all the close relationships he ever has. Like Sora, he is deeply scarred by his early life and not nearly as stable as his smooth, charismatic facade suggests. His Diora-esque self-sacrificial depth of devotion to his closest loved ones is something else that's really stuck with me, and you can find it in Sora.

Josephine Montilyet: Josie is a diplomat. In a game where you, the PC, are a fighter, and your closest companions are people who fight with you, and two of your three advisors are a soldier and a spy-assassin type, Josephine stands out as the advisor whose skills lie in negotiation, manipulation of social circumstances, pulling strings, and destroying people without ever lifting a weapon. Sora, likewise, is very much a paperwork and private conferences kind of guy. Like Amarais, Josie is more of an idealist than Sora, but also like Amarais, she pursues her goals with Soralike ruthlessness.

Ah, fun! I kind of feel like the magic of the original Mean Girls is impossible to duplicate (which certainly uhhh, seems to be the case with the new musical trailer - and I say that as someone who loves musicals!) It's such a product of its time in many ways, but it's always fun to try and envision how these things could be updated, and y'know, I love fancasting stuff, haha. SO!

Auli'i Cravalho as Cady Heron. I was genuinely thrilled when I read that Auli'i had been cast in the new movie musical version, but it was a bit of a record scratch when I learned she'd been cast as Janis? I think she's a pretty versatile and extremely personable actress, and to me, that's really what the role of Cady needs as she's the character who has the most interesting evolution/devolution across the course of the movie. Not casting her as the lead I think was a real misfire, and I say that as someone who quite likes Angourie Rice.

Ruby Cruz as Janis Ian. Whereas I kinda think Ruby Cruz would be perfect as Janis. She's got the look and the energy and I think has the right amount of vulnerability and acidity to play her really well.

Luke Islam as Damien Leigh. I saw Theater Camp a few weeks ago, and man, Luke Islam was just so much fun in it. I haven't seen him in anything else (I believe he's in the Mighty Ducks reboot which is delightful), but even just from Theater Camp he has the energy, the attitude and the right amount of camp to kill it.

Aaron Samuels and the Plastics under the cut!

Niles Fitch as Aaron Samuels I think I might have recast someone else with Niles Fitch before, haha, but I just think he's really charming in that all-American-boy way that Aaron Samuels kind of embodies.

Diana Silvers as Regina George. One of the things that's kind of getting to me about the trailer for the musical remake is the fact that it seems like they've made Regina more of an outward bully whereas one of the things that I think the original movie did so well was the way Regina was a lot more insidious about the way she managed her own popularity and her relationships? Anyway, I think Diana could do that really well! She has a bit of that sort of tone in Booksmart, and I think is good in Ma and Glass too, so a role like this could be a good opportunity to stretch her skills.

Meg Donnelly as Karen Smith. I kinda feel like Meg Donnelly's career has stalled because she's probably up for the same roles as Kathryn Newton, which is a bit of a bummer because I think Meg Donnelly's a pretty solid comedic actress with a lot of charisma on screen. She really sold the ditzy daughter role in American Housewife, and I think she could pretty much walk into Karen and play her really well. Her style's just different enough from Amanda's too that hopefully she'd bring something fresh to the role too.

Priya Kansara as Gretchen Wieners. Fun fact, Gretchen's actually my favourite Mean Girls character. I love a girl who straddles the line between uptight and unhinged, and she just does it so well! As does Priya in Polite Society! I love her a lot, and think she could make Gretchen her own.
