i'm going to take a break from being on here for a while, until the veilguard hate calms down or until i no longer care, whichever comes first. i went from being really excited to create in this fandom to being bitterly disappointed and unhappy in less than 2 weeks. if a character's mere existence makes you feel justified in platforming your bigoted opinions and being vicious to people who like them maybe try some personal reflection instead. it's honestly triggering to be under a constant state of anxiety that if i breathe wrong or act too excited about something i love the wrong person might see it and i'm going to get crucified for it, literally just because other people can't stand to see someone happy over something they don't like.

every time i think about taash now it comes with a wave of sadness and stress because i know that the fact that i like them makes me a target for bullying. you guys need to seriously get crucial. you're a grown adult video game blogging on tumblr, you do not have the right to be this up your own ass.

sometimes people will say “going dark” and then what they’re actually talking about is just people no longer presenting a carefully constructed version of their emotions and experiences.

like. emotional turmoil is not the same as darkness. laudna in this Fictional Universe that has tangibly different stakes wrt to death and killing than our own, is at best like . morally neutral for what she just did like. man has been secretly trying to kill you, and then just tried to do so again, killing him back is a fair choice. and even if i was someone who is excited by delilah’s inability to escape from the narrative, this shit isn’t about delilah. laudna made a choice. if delilah is back or whatever it’s a choice that laudna made because something in that grants her more control than her existing conditions did. this isn’t some Delilah Takes Over, it’s Laudna Expressly Makes The Choice To Call Forth Something within Herself to remedy the lack of control that’s been thrust upon her. if y’all want to Continue to limit Laudna’s agency (as the cr fandom is so, so want to do when a female character makes a choice that isn’t Good according to some weird system of virtue ethics) go ahead.

likewise with orym. little guy is not “going dark” because he has finally made direct action about his emotional turmoil in dealing with a situation which has similarly left him without control and has also placed him in a position where his stalwart conviction towards protecting and honouring those he loves and has lost alike is constantly met with other people he cares for going well.. what if they had a point/we are killing other peoples loved ones/etc. which like . yeah that might be frustrating and in fact might lead him to go, actually, i can’t afford to try and maintain some abject morality where I carry a locket that will literally only provide guilt. orym is completely committed to his beliefs, the locket and what it represents has never been a limit to what he will do, only a reminder of the consequences of what he might cause in those actions. but they Are at war and orym has a billion things on his plate. he can put down the locket. especially when bor’dor is the explicit manifestation of that locket’s symbolism. the subtext rapidly became the text and orym doesn’t need a reminder. it’s there in the fact that team issylra is walking away with two friends, not three.

these are character who have at every turn denied their own emotions in various forms while still being acutely aware of what they deny, whether that awareness was/is fully realized or not. many of laudna’s early convos with ashton show us that there is some awareness to the lighthearted spooky goth girl and how that persona fades when she thinks too much about what has led her and maintained that reality. likewise the entirety of orym’s story thus far is defined by his grief in a very literal sense, it Has extended from that grief to also the commitment he had to the purpose of figuring out the assassination attempt on keyleth but as we have seen, that purpose has fallen apart. paired with the quasi-reopening of his grief that was getting to see will again only to have to turn away, i don’t think there’s a lack of awareness in orym of how much he hurts. but between his actions and 4SD, that hurt tends to get buried under guilt or Responsibility.

and now, finally, both of them have admitted to that Not in the safety of small introspection or one-on-one conversations but with actions that they cannot shy away from or deny. laudna killed bor’dor and orym encouraged her to. and it Is a complex situation but truly I don’t really think it’s a “going dark” one. because they’re not giving into some overhanging Darkness of Morality™, they’re admitting that they are hurt and have long been hurting.

or, y’know, tldr for those who continue to deny laudna and orym agency or fully villainise them for whatever weird reasons . you could listen to laudna and ashton’s conversation that pretty much lays it out explicitly. laudna claims she’s weak for having chosen to kill bor’dor. ashton denies that and affirms instead that, no, she’s hurt.

just went and listened to the usum version of ghetsis’ battle theme and it’s actually got me feeling like this image

like. you mentioned the whips cracking. you didn’t mention the way it sounds like pure bloodlust. i don’t know what it is about it but it sounds like sheer hatred and evil. it doesn’t even sound like a pokémon boss theme. it sounds like the song itself is trying to kill me. and like it could. this is a ghetsis theme with a PUNCH to it. i am viscerally uncomfortable just listening. and i LOVE it. what on earth did they put in it. that is the definitive version of his theme now

IT'S SUCH A GOOD THEME. They somehow manage to make it sound more threatening than the original which is a feat. And it fits so well with the context being that this Ghetsis won in the world he came from. The song itself just sounds cruel, it's perfectly fitting for the version of him who succeeded in conquering Unova.

Just everything about it fills you with this sense of dread that you got from the original but it feels so much more intense here. Every time I listen to it, it makes my skin crawl, it's so great.

Sparkstember Day 29: The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte

This is where my Sparks adventure started!! I'll always feel super lucky to have been able to anticipate this album's release and listen to it on the day it dropped! That's super rare, especially when it's a band that would very soon become so important to me... because yeah, I wasn't even a super huge fan yet at that point but could definitely already TELL that I was on my way to getting there. Based on previous experiences of this kind... and well, needless to say, I was so very right.

Thanks to all this, both the release of TGICIHL and all the excitement surrounding it, I remember this whole time period (spring-summer of 2023) really fondly now. It was a start of something really special and lifechanging, oh truly. And for Sparks especially it's been such an unbelievably successful time. I mean, Hollywood Bowl???? And so much more but, well, we all know. It's been such an honour for me to even just be able to see it happen from afar.

The album itself is very great and I feel like I might even underappreciate it a bit still. It wasn't a huge instant favourite but I still loved it from the start, then fell off from it for a bit... And now I feel like its biggest value for me might lay in something very different than simply having the catchiest or most instantly appealing songs for my liking. Because first things first it's a true testament of how far Sparks have come as artists and how they'll never run out of things to say and new areas to explore. Some of the most touching and insightful of their songs are here, and to think that they're just putting out these absolute masterpieces after over 50 years?? 300+ songs in and it's still all new and as amazing as always.

I don't even have that many huge personal favourites from TGICIHL, but as I returned to them over time I really started to love them all more and more. Sure, I had some early favs, but all in all this is such a solid album, so I can't even bring myself to pick just a few. I blabbered a bit about It Doesn't Have To Be That Way at some point in the past but it's definitely not the only song here that often brings me to tears and makes me feel understood in a way that nothing else before it did. And that I love returning to on my bad days especially (just to weep some more, you know). I might regret not finding Sparks earlier than I did, but it's so utterly amazing that I got here at all and at such a wonderful time to, when I could see all of these beautiful things unfold. Can't wait to see what else is to come 💖

The irony of people claiming that Margaret of York supported various Pretenders against Henry VII due to her alleged undying love for Richard III is that Perkin Warbeck masqueraded as Richard of Shrewsbury, aka Edward IV's second son who had been declared illegitimate by his uncle. Supporting him would literally amount to a denial of those allegations and an invalidation of Richard III's entire claim to kingship.

It's almost as though Margaret had other reasons to challenge Henry VII. Like, idk, BURGUNDIAN INTERESTS, HER OWN ECONOMIC INTERESTS AND HER LOYALTY TO HER ADOPTED FAMILY BY MARRIAGE.

(Also, Maximilian was the one deciding Burgundian foreign policy, not Margaret, but that's another matter)

i think it's so insane how we collectively found new interests to cut out taylor. you went into bandom, somehow, i became an indie folk/folk pop enthusiast.

Sometimes I just look at Isabeau and just know that if isat came out and I got into it when I was like 16 he would be my favorite character and I would've gone absolutely buck wild over this man and feel like he was laser targeting me. Biting the bars of my enclosure about autistic ford tonight. There's something about him using vocabulary and turns of phrase that seem "outdated" or "pretentious" that feels so painfully genuine to me. When people say he talks like that just to "try to sound smart" I wish I could explain what it's like to be so ostracized from your peers growing up that you spend all your time reading instead, to the point where you pick up your way of speaking from books instead of from people. And then what it's like for people to call you out for "talking weird" over and over again, not able to wrap their heads around why the fuck you would choose more archaic or technical or formal words than the simpler ones that surely come to everyone's minds first. What it's like to have to dedicate a sizable chunk of attention to filtering through every single word you say out loud in real time before you say it, to make absolutely sure that it isn't a word people will judge you for using or make fun of you for using, just so you'll have a chance of being taken seriously. Learning through trial and error how to filter out the words that other people don't think are normal or casual enough for the conversation, even though for you, the word choice that's "natural-sounding" enough for them is the third or fourth word you came up with when searching for the right way to phrase something in your head. I wish I could explain just how long it takes to say fucking anything after spending a lifetime doing that during every single conversation, and how repetitive and long-winded you end up being when you spend so long coming up with alternative ways of saying every little thing you ever think. And I wish people realized that, at the very least for autistic people and autistic-coded characters, speech that's seen as pretentious is really just the way they talk when they're not putting in the extra effort to filter through every word they say just so others will take the time to listen.

I mean, Max is not angel either and he as petty as Charles but just in differents way(ex. the way he was so mad at Checo about in Monaco he decided to let his main rival win over his teammate….) or his little fight with George and Ocon(I think he still dislikes them lol). In conclusion, they both a haters and I’m here for this

Let's put it this way: I think Max is more actively spiteful while Charles has a bone deep ancient rage that has never truly bubbled to the surface.
