Alright, it's the week of Christmas my friends. I hope you and yours have been enjoying the holiday season; are looking forward to a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday, and are looking to close out 2022 on a good note.
If you haven't yet, please use the link below to find me on my other social's. Mainly my Patreon and my YouTube channel. I'd still like to reach my goal of ten patrons, I'm currently at 2. Also, I'd love to reach 300 subscribers on my channel. You can also find me on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter I post something new each day. I'd love to see you there.
Here are my thoughts on last week's questions...
Tuesday, Quick Shot...
I was so sad to hear of Jason David Frank's passing. As a kid, I didn't get into Power Rangers much but my brother did so I like many knew who the character of "Tommy Oliver" was. I have kept up with the show in later years as well as his roles as different rangers and always enjoyed seeing him among the cast. Knowing now the way he passed makes it that much sadder and my heart goes out to his family and friends.
Thursday, Midweek Melody...
The new Whitney Houston film looks interesting. Much like the film made about the life of Tina Turner, I most likely will be checking it out. No matter the personal struggles she faced; no one can say she wasn't a talented artist that was lost far too soon.
Sunday, Totally Random Thought...
So Unorthodox Jukebox just turned ten recently. I’m a huge Bruno Mars fan and it's crazy to think he's already been around for as long as he has. In recent months I'm glad his dude has come out of retirement and is back on stage with him and I look forward to more from this amazing artist.
Have a blessed day and week my friends ❄⛄.
Stay safe and well my friends 🍂.

Original 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis has been arrested and booked into a Georgia jail after she failed repeatedly to pay child support to her baby daddy, Weston Gosa.
Whitney— who starred on the very first season of the MTV show alongside Teen Mom stars Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood and Catelynn Lowell— shares two sons with Weston: Weston Jr. (who was born on “16&P”) and River. Both boys currently live with Weston and his wife.
According to court records pulled by The Ashley, a Complaint for Contempt was first issued by the court in May 2023, stating that Whitney had “willfully failed and refused to comply” with a 2018 court order for child support.
The 2018 order that Whitney has allegedly violated granted Weston legal and physical custody of the boys, while Whitney was given visitation every weekend. (Whit’s grandma or grandpa are required to supervise those visits.) Whitney was also allowed to see the kids on holidays, provided she and Weston could agree on it.
As of October 2023, Whit owed Weston more than $18,800 in back child support. At the time, she was ordered to pay Weston $353 a month in child support, as well as $20 a month towards the $18k+ she owed in back child support. A hearing was held on July 1 to discuss the situation, and an arrest order was issued for Whitney on July 2, stating that she was in contempt of the court order to pay child support. (This is at least the third time that Whitney was deemed to be in contempt, but she managed to stave off an arrest both times previously.)
Whitney (who gave birth to a third son last year but has not publicly revealed who the father is) was ordered to serve 48 hours in the Floyd County Jail. She has also been ordered to pay her monthly child support, in addition to her outstanding arears, until it is paid off.
A court hearing has been set for August 5.
Tumblr media
As The Ashley has previously reported, Whitney has had several other run-ins with the law, most of which concern Weston. Although Weston and Whitney were told in their 2018 custody order that they were not to have any contact, except for whatever is necessary in order to coparent, Whitney has been arrested several times for violating this.
Back in 2022, Whitney was arrested and charged with making felony terroristic threats and acts against Weston. In texts sent prior to her most recent arrest, Whitney allegedly threatened to poison her ex by making him “inhale toxic gas,” kill him, and “slit [his] throat,” among other disturbing messages.
Back in 2018, Whitney allegedly threatened Weston via text message, claiming she’d “blow [his] brains out.”
When questioned by police at the time, Whitney claimed she was motivated to send the texts because her ex “had cheated on her, beat her, and humiliated her.”
Weston filed a petition for temporary protective order in August 2020 against Whitney and received it for one year.
In 2015, Whitney broke into Weston’s home and allegedly beat him with a broom. Following the incident, Whitney was arrested on two charges– criminal trespassing and aggravated assault.
Whitney was one of only two girls from the first season of “16 and Pregnant” who weren’t chosen by MTV to star on ‘Teen Mom.’ (The other girl is Ebony Jackson). Last month, Whitney made a Facebook comment about her time on “16 and Pregnant” and mentioned how she felt about not being chosen to continue with the franchise.
“I go back and forth on if I regret not doing [’16 and Pregnant’],” she told someone on Facebook who asked her about it. “I don’t think being on television at a young age is healthy for anyone, especially reality TV. But on the other hand that’s a lot of money to walk away from. There’s a lot of pros and cons to it. I hated my episode, I’ve watched it once and never again.”
A court hearing has been set for Whitney for August 5.

Charles Gaines' work never fails to impress and his recent exhibition, Southern Trees, at Hauser and Wirth in NYC, is no exception.
From the press release-
One of the most important conceptual artists working today, the show explores the evolution of Gaines’s complex practice, demonstrating how he has continued to forge new paths within the innovative framework of two of his most acclaimed series, Numbers and Trees and Walnut Tree Orchard. The exhibition’s title, ‘Southern Trees,’ alludes directly to the 150-year-old pecan trees pictured in the new works, and symbolically to the opening lyrics of ‘Strange Fruit,’ Billie Holiday’s haunting protest anthem from the 1930s.
The image of the tree has been central to Gaines’s practice since he first began the Walnut Tree Orchard series in the 1970s. In ‘Southern Trees,’ Gaines advances the series using pecan trees photographed on a visit to Boone Hall Plantation in Charleston County, South Carolina––not far from where the artist was born and lived until he was five years old. Presented alongside a key early example from the walnut tree series, eight new triptych works on paper revisit and expand upon this significant original body of work.
‘Walnut Tree Orchard: Set M’ (1977), on loan from the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, pairs a black and white photograph of a walnut tree with two drawings derived from it––an ink outline of the same tree and a grayscale grid that plots all of the trees included in the series up until that point. The newest series, titled Pecan Trees (2022), begins similarly, with a stark black and white photograph of a tree; yet in the drawings that accompany it, Gaines has filled in the outline of the tree with solid ink and used vibrant watercolors to plot all the previous trees in the final drawing. These successive modifications to scale, color and background demonstrate Gaines’s theory that while ‘the system has never changed, the outcome is always different.’
This extends to Gaines’s new Numbers and Trees Plexiglas series, which begin with the artist assigning each tree a distinctive color and numbered grid––breaking down the composition into individual cells that reflect the full form of the tree depicted in the photograph on the surface. However, Gaines reverses his signature process in this new series by overlaying the forms of the trees one at a time and in progression on the back panel of the work rather than on the front. He then brings the photograph to the surface by printing an enlarged detail of the most recently added tree on the work’s Plexiglas surface. This approach brings the tree’s shadowy branches to the foreground, highlighting its textural details and contrasting tones while obscuring the colorful numbered grids painted underneath it. This reversal produces a dramatically different effect, igniting a more somber, yet stirring, reaction to the work as the austere branches, dripping with moss, dominate the picture.
Created through carefully considered systems rather than through the artist’s own imagination or intuition, these new works remove the artist’s subjectivity by following a set of self-determined rules and procedures. The works call into question both the objective nature of the trees and the subjective natural and material human actions that surround them. The fastidious layering process allows Gaines to reveal the differences between the trees’ shapes where the forms do not align. These differences, highlighted by the artist’s systems, suggest the arbitrary nature of other manufactured systems in our society––such as politics, gender, race and class.
This exhibition closes 4/1/23.

“Can’t Fake The Funk” - KING JAMES BROWN
Tumblr media
It feels like I haven’t posted here in a while, so here’s a quick holiday update.
I posted my final short review for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram last night. It’s for the Whitney Houston biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody. This means no new short reviews until 2023. However, starting next year I’m hoping to make longer weekly reviews for YouTube on top of the shorts, probably no more than ten minutes each depending on the film, so stay tuned for those.
I am almost done with the first of the two decade retrospective scripts, so hopefully I can get both finished before New Years. Either way, I’m looking at both videos being released in early January.
I’ve also decided rather than keep trying to catch up with EVERYTHING I missed from this year, I’ll cut back to just the major ones people have talked about being either good or awful. That cuts back my binging from 200 movies to just 22, so hopefully my lists for 2022 should be finalized by New Years as well. Full videos for those will be out once I’m done with the retrospective videos.
Once the lists are done, I’ll get started on some of the other video ideas I have in the works, and with any luck I’ll be able to start posting monthly or biweekly video essays on top of weekly new release reviews. That probably won’t happen until spring at the earliest.
I’m also going to look at recreating my PNG model in VRoid and start using a 3D model again since I don’t have to worry about streaming it. That’s gonna take a bit longer, so that won’t happen until later in the year. I will be sure to post work in progress updates as I go.
I think that about covers it. I hope you all had a merry Christmas and Yule, and have a happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s. See y’all in 2023.
