fascinating to watch how hozier speaking Irish in his new music is making some people: 1. fetishise him further and/or 2. make 'fun' jokes about gaeilge/gaelic/'''garlic'''' bc like. babes. i can guarantee you neither of those actions are separable from the lingering impacts of colonialism.
#not understanding some of the nuances around a 'dying' (killed) language is not shocking#but treating it like some weird little romantic bog man character trait is annoying#i'm being a wet blanket but if i creamed my pants over irish OR mocked the language here i'd get bottled#and it's been said ten ways to tuesday but stop fetishising what you believe irish culture is like#he is a normal man trying to speak a language that occupies an incredibly complex space in contemporary Ireland#how majority-white cultures victim to colonisation are worshipped/fetishised in a still-bad way but different compared to POC cultures...#i want an essay#the way people are drooling over it while showing that they didn't care about it until their fave white boy sang it...#additionally in a way they have never cared about POC native languages...........#none of this is hozier's fault it's just fascinating culturally#gaeilge#wasteland baby#colonialism#irish language#unreal unearth#hozier

Regardless of your thoughts, feelings, or opinions, Curly very much is also a victim of Jimmy’s.
Curly is a victim of Jimmy’s.
Curly being a victim of Jimmy does not however make Anya any less of a victim. They were both different types of Victims, Anya being sexually assaulted and having her sense of safety, personhood, and autonomy violated. Curly was manipulated and belittled by Jimmy pre crash several times, Jimmy also completely twisted what Curly said a few times to warp it to his own perception. They did not have a healthy friendship.
Everyone on the Tulpar was a victim of Jimmy’s by the end.
- Curly in an unhealthy and unbalanced friendship
- Daisuke a victim of Jimmy’s Manipulation
- Swansea became a murder victim
- and of course Anya was a victim of rape and misogyny
But again, other characters being victimized by Jimmy do not detract from what happened to Anya or her Victimhood
#Mouthwashing#I’m sorry but everytime I see people act like Curly was horrible it drives me up the wall#despite being small all the characters in the game are complex#reducing them down to black and white concepts is an injustice#and you can really see peoples own biases come through with how they treat characters#Swansea is especially interesting to see biases play out around since most people see him in the middle#and they lean him either slightly more positive or negative based on their own biases experiences and preferred traits#some people dislike him because he’s an alcoholic which to me is kinda hmmmm#but others like him because of his strong fatherly traits#it’s both an interesting and frustrating phenomenon to me the way people perceive these five characters#Anya and Daisuke face the worst of it though in no small part to their gender and age respectively#long tags short it annoys me that people act like Curly can’t be a victim because of what Anya went through#and that he was Jimmy’s friend

Tsumugi's Innocence...
I feel like people love to just give tsumugi no autonomy, looking at him as if he did nothing wrong while making natsume the whole big-bad and getting angry at him for hurting their poor little meow meow (mugi) while completely disregarding the fact that tsumugi basically helped "kill" natsume's beloved niisans and had a hand in all the suffering they went through during The War
like sure the hate tsumugi gets from some of the characters feels wildly conflated out of context, but like eichi is introduced to us as a villain really early on + nagisa and hiyori are in reimei/shuetsu, and also introduced ss villains to us in the main story so in a way the characters are rooted against these members of exfine — but tsumugi is a special exception because only a very select few still categorize him in that role he played back then (frankly the eccentrics and even the other exfine members)
but frankly it is deserved in a way, tsumugi was complacent with what exfine did in the war, hell he was even saying he'll shield eichi from any stones thrown at him (well before the last live with wataru happened but yknow)
though going back.. now see he's not introduced to us and even anzu as a villain in the main story now because he's changed !! you could see it in the way he lets his hair grow and even starts wearing his old lenses, and while it can be a quirk of sentimentality it is something that helps tsumugi hold onto the past, even in !-era he still speaks about events he partook as if he was a distant observer
sure natsume helped speed it up through their reconciliation but eventually tsumugi had to learn sooner or later that he couldn't keep running from the past or detaching himself from it. despite how kind and friendly he wants to be just so he feel needed by the people around him, he will inevitably hurt someone and will need to atone for that
#enstars#ensemble stars#tsumugi aoba#since it seems like the history of yumenosaki keeps getting pushed back I feel like some people need a reminder#I love/hate ntmg seriously . dont even joke lad#but it's such a necessary thing for tsumugi's development that he helps create switch#hell it's even necessary for both natsume and sora that switch was created in the first place to help forget about their lonely pasts#natsume being lonely because well.. he was protected by his niisans and left as the lone survivor as his niisans suffered the aftermath#as oomf said.. when it comes to ntmg theyre both victims and theyve both done each other wrong#so jumping to extremes and viewing them in either black and white really takes away from the whole point#especially with how complex and rich enstars writing (used to be) is when it came to writing their characters

Can confidently say that as a passing trans man (I’m not even really stealth) I absolutely have privilege over cis women lol. I’m a man, people see me as a man, and people treat me like a man. I have privilege in being a man who’s perceived as a man. To deny this is to stick your head in the sand
#genuinely I think a lot of (white) trans men o. this website#wanna cling to their white women victim complex sooo bad#and will fight reality to keep themselves in that weird victim complex#and thus yall will pretend you have no privilege at all. it’s really weird

the novel i'm working on is becoming a feminist lesbian psychological thriller that is an inquiry into mass media and the destabilization of truth and the agency of the working class under capitalism and cycles of violence
#this is a good thing that i'm finding themes... now how do i make this entertaining for a general audience#literary fiction brain is like it's Okay to write a complex female character who is morally grey and is both a victim and perpetrator#author brain that knows i want to do traditional publishing is like. general audiences would HATE her#she's gonna get the daisy buchanan treatment. also this will NOT do numbers on tumblr the protagonists are both female...#ughhhhhh. that face when it would be easier to turn them into white men bc then it'll both sell more and be tumblr popular#but i am exploring gender as a central theme sooooo. sad face

ok ill just say this i was one of the “girls” salò shit was being done to in ms like straight up movie style psychological torture type bullying and tbf i dont tend to use the phrase “female camraderie” in general or esp about myself since im a man now. but if you asked me if I’ve experienced it i would say yes for instance in the countless intimate hushed conversation in bedrooms ive had with cis, straight women (same type of girl that was torturing me in ms) bonding over shared madness inducing experiences such as being in extremely abusive relationships with men. So i wouldnt jump the gun on that one. But whatever
#i get that being a type of person who got excluded from ‘’’’girl bonding’’’’ growing up bc of being not white /transfem / gnc/ whatever can#lead towards resentment i think thats perfectly logical and justified. but imo 99% of any types of feminist and or lgbt#for lack of a better word infighting comes from all parties (with their wide variety of individual ‘positioning’ across various social/#political/bodily ‘fault lines’ kind of. naturalizing their lived experience into some kind of axiom#without considering that very often someone who does not have XYZ trait/situation may have been victimized in very different but equally#real ways. most straightforward ex of this imo is the whole bi vs lesbian infighting in the quote unquote queer female community#but anyway . i see very often - not just online but also and especially offline - people being extremely cogent and lucid in analyzing#their own positioning and situations. but then painting people in different ones by the most generic reductive sweeping overgeneralizations#and its like. okay. maybe just give some thought to the fact that everyone else livs lives as complex and intricate as yours. thats all#PS i went on a tangent and forgot to say to be extremely clear. i absolutely did not have access to ‘girl space’ for the entirety of my#life until age like 17 to 21. and even then i was tenuously tolerated as some kind of inoffensive creature that was nonetheless still made#of different matter than the ‘real’ girls#idk. dont really have an end to that sentence i guess

an unnecessary reminder i will go to bat any day of the week for james sunderland.
#ooc. o kaptain.#[listen. i know he can be interpreted a lot of ways. i know he’s a useless weird apathetic shitty cis white man. i know he’s weird and sad.#and do I hate characters like james usually? oh absolutely. but the man has potential to not be terrible and it’s all there in his source#material. plus the weird implication i always feel when we know his dad owns the apartment building in silent hill 4 and ‘his son and#daughter in law disappeared in sh’ which aligns with the in water ending. and confirms the body in the car. but my other vibe is… where was#anyone helping james while Mary was sick…? he was super young and so was she. was he just literally taking on this terminal illness on his#own without any real support? that’s the implication considering this trauma wouldn’t have scarred him to this degree if he HAD a support#system during Mary’s illness. the man was literaly left to deal with the love of his life PROBABLY newly married slowly dying. and totally#unprepared he tried to do the best he could with a horrible situation. Mary was the victim here unquestionably — he fucking killed her— but#what the fuck kind of neglect has to go into a situation to a level so prolonged that he cracks and does it? how many people DIDNT help him#OR Mary during her illness? how many people just didn’t care? deciding ‘James is bad and he did it because he’s selfish and terrible’ isn’t#realistic. and also no. he didn’t do it because he couldn’t have sex with her anymore we get it blah blah pyramid head. if you take it THAT#straightforward idk what to tell you. nothing is. and this game is only more complex the older i get.]

Just finishes Blood Over Bright Haven, went to check some goodreads reviews, and people are shitting on M. L. Wang and calling her work "white saviour complex" and "coloniser romance", also saying that her work is a copy of RFK.
And this is why I think reading comprehension is dead, because if you read BOBH and THAT was your take from it, I'm pretty sure you read it with your eyes closed.
Anyway, if yall actually want an amazing dark academia and steampunk-y book with nuanced discussion about societal issues, amazing writing, a morally grey female protag and unique kickass worldbuilding, you should read BOBH by M. L. Wang.
#not to mention how fucking insidious it is to shit on it just to bring up RFK. who has been criticised by darker-skinned asian folks-#-for the way she wrote Rin's people in TPW and who brings down any criticism she as a rich american citizen faces as 'yt ppl jelly haha'.#blood over bright haven#m l wang#bookblr#like i dont know how to tell you that this isn't 'white saviour complex' not only bc the author is very obviously NOT WHITE#but also because... both characters involved in this romance *are*.#the kwen seem to be based predominantly on the irish people (red hair grey eyes) and the tiranish on the brits#Sciona is white BUT SO IS THOMIL.#like did yall read with your eyes closed be for fucking honest#(i know yall westerners just dont give a shit about colonisation victims that aren't Properly/Visibly PoC ofc)#(so it comes as no surprise that so many of you didn't even realise the irish inspiration behind the kwen.)#(but you could at least PRETEND to not be a reactionary little shit.)

white women on "radblr" are as guilible, pitiful, hypocritical and racist as always, their whole delusional thing about racism being justified by gendered violence will never get tired for them to start chanting at every excuse, but it is very lame to me that i got engaged enough to comment on their discourse bc it was the first thing to show up on my dash
#Like arguing with a child actually#But the child has a victim complex and has been imdoctrinated a lifetime of unfounded superiority based on their whiteness lol#bla bla white feminist to right wing pawn pipeline bla bla

love how they screenshot your tags and made it look like you said something you never said and also acted as if it wasn't a privelege at all for women to obtain higher education just because their grandmother did it and then the second you explain how limited their world view is they accuse you of being rude, more priveleged than them and now they're continuing to try to make it look like you said things you never said. (also their logic is the exact same as when white people or men say they don't have any (white/male) privilege because they personally have suffered in some way but something tells me sportsbianism wouldn't see it that way)
they admitted to me in the DMs their ancestors were settlers and got free land and college education LMFAO see my latest post uwu
#asks#violentdevotion#girl the victim complex#I’m sorry you’re white and u have to debase yourself doing a blue collar job….

I was so pissed when I first saw this but then. I get it. Tell me more about the subaltern Miss Upper-caste bramhin Private convent school to Presidency to Columbia University professor generational wealth pipeline! You must know everything about adivasis of India from your swanky office at Columbia having left the country when you were twenty years old. You must know a lot about whether or not the subaltern can speak, since 1. you benefit from silencing subaltern voices and 2. you have made a career of their oppression.
The entire subaltern studies group were privileged fucks. Also wtf is subaltern. Just one of those useless jargons academics create to gatekeep knowledge. Call it what it is. Dalit. Aadivasi. Or is that too on the nose for you, not very good for the optics huh?
#like spivak is the ultimate example of upper caste upper caste people benifiting of dalit oppression#and these same people who worship spivak have so much to say about arundhati roy#but you know who never left the country despite multiple threats to her life and attacks on her house?#who continues to travel all over the country and advocate for kashmir and dalit causes?#its definitely not miss white husband american citizenship ohh my distant cousin who i never met killed herself for some reason i dont know#but its still trauma for me! you dont get it i carry it in my body! and i AM going to use my victim complex to make it into a career#yeah she's the taylor swift#gayatri chakravarti spivak#can the subaltern speak#desi academia#casteism#india#tina rambles
