The provincial Liberals plan to introduce legislation this fall that would ban children under 16 in Nova Scotia from using social media platforms. Liberal House leader Iain Rankin said the bill would make Nova Scotia the first province to set minimum age restrictions for social media access and could set a precedent for other provinces to follow suit. to this day it baffles me how ORAS isn't considered the single best remake in the entire Pokémon franchise.

Let's start with the additions:

Doesn't cut new evolutions or preevolutions from the regional dex (like FRLG or HGSS did before), allowing for new evos to be used in a normal playthrough.

The single best use of the touchscreen the franchise has ever seen. DexNav was the best chaining tool to date, PlayNav brings everything good from XY back (including the PSS!!), BuzzNav is a fun little addition that helps the world feel more alive, and AreaNav is the single most useful map in any Pokémon game.

The new character designs enhanced the originals while keeping them feeling like what the character was MEANT to be.

The Delta Episode was a great addition to the postgame, making it feel less empty than the original RSE and introducing some key concepts for the series (Infinity Energy, for example). It also helped develop some characters a bit more! Also it gave us non-event Deoxys. And the finale fucking rules.

Team Magma and Team Aqua's goals actually make sense in a twisted way now. There's Actual Reasoning behind their schemes, even if it's quite faulty. Also the box legendary encounter is a thousand times cooler now HELL YEAH

Contests maintain some difficulty at higher levels while still being doable, unlike RSE's absolute nightmare. Speaking of nightmares, PokéBlocks are no longer the worst thing to happen to a player. No more friendless minigames, no more dead batteries to impede progress, no more eating limit to stop you from evolving Feebas just shy of max Beauty. Streamlined AND a mechanic you'll actually want to use.

Secret bases are now USEFUL!! Everything about Secret Bases was improved and now there's an actual incentive to meet people!

Megas are back... and the Elite Four actually uses them in rematches! And important story fights actually use them! And there's NEW MEGAS too!! No more one-hour-window to getting them too. And some are actual rewards for completing difficult feats like defeating Lisia or achieving Platinum Rank in your Secret Base. These are not new stones, so if you cannot get them, you can always trade them from XY or simply use one of the many other megas!

The graphical update helps Hoenn look better than ever before! Diving looks great, too, and the added detail does this region so many favors it's almost unbelievable.

Common complaints:

"Where's the Battle Frontier?" The feature that only a handful of people used regularly? The feature people complained about back in the day? Why are we missing the Battle Frontier all of a sudden? Genuinely didn't hear people complain about the lack of BF until ORAS. The Battle Chateau might have its shortcomings, but it's still a battle facility. And if you want a challenge, there's no shortage of those!

"The game is just too easy! The EXP Share/Free Lati/Free megas make it a cakewalk!" Then... don't use them? You control the buttons you press?

"The Delta Episode was an absolute drag. It was just a drawn-out fetch quest!" Oh do I have news about 70% of actual Pokémon story beats

"Mirage Islands being dependant on RNG is so bad" I mean, yes? RNG tends to be that way? But it doesn't take much time to check, and if you connect to the internet you get a handful of new islands too, so it's not nearly as bad as it might sound.

"The old legendaries feel forced in" As they've always been. HGSS crammed the Weather Trio in, gen 3 had events unrelated to everything else for Lugia/Ho-oh, B2W2 had gen 4 legends just around (and the lati twins?)... This time they just wanted to have all mons available in gen 6, which I can understand. It's great they did that, too, because that helped me avoid using Bank for many, many years.

I just feel ORAS should get the flowers it deserves. I've been saying this since 2014 and I'll keep saying it: ORAS are the best remakes in the entire series and it's not even close.

Well, I don’t think I have actually written a post like that yet and I also think you may overestimate how many literal kids there are on tumblr - but since you’re handing out awards, here’s some gentle, non-judgemental info on masturbation like a good dad would offer if asked (since teens and young people deserve honest answers to make empowered choices):

Masturbation is a very common activity. It’s generally safe and healthy and it even comes with some benefits: 

it’s only you, meaning there’s no risk of pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases! 

it’s a safe way to explore your own likes and dislikes and to try out fantasies you may have, without the emotional entanglement of involving another person (yet or at all). 

it can’t break your heart. Sex with another person requires a lot of trust and communication and you shouldn’t rush into that just to try it out.

it can be a fun way to get to know your own body, and knowing your own body is important to take care of your health! Knowing what’s going on down there is a good thing. 

It’ll not ruin sex with a (future) partner. Many actually experience the opposite: getting to know your body and learning about your preferences solo actually makes sex with a partner more enjoyable and relaxed. 

It may bring physical health benefits: it’s like a mini workout after all, plus orgasms are known to be healthy for you! 

It can be a stress-relief and even helps some people sleep better. 

It can actually help you live according to your values. For example, if you’re single and do not wish to have sex outside of longterm relationships, masturbation can help satisfy your needs without sacrificing your beliefs for a one night stand. 

It allows you full flexibility without having to explain anything. You don’t like orgasms? You can just stop before you reach that point. You like to be perfectly quiet? Nobody expects you to moan if it’s only you.

Ideas such as „masturbation causes mental illness“ or even „masturbation leads to blindness“ are outdated medical myths. What is the full disfavor on porn?

Well there is no disfavour towards porn on my blog. It’s not for me, I don’t seek it out on purpose but I’m not against it existing or being made. In fact I’d do sex work if I had more confidence in myself and my body.

The issue is, and this is the widespread/common feeling amongst tumblr users, is that the site itself banned porn effectively destroying a bunch of communities and real people who were open, approachable, and diverse. The fact they did this in favour of marketing, only for the marketing itself to be pornographic and far more scummy (most of them are dishonest and just trying to take advantage of people)

So it’s less against the porn and more about the actions tumblr took against it. (Plus the much bigger issue with sanitizing the internet and control of individuals but that’s a bigger topic for another day)

Haven't really seen anyone on here talking about it, so:

If you have psychosis, do not use ChatGPT or any other AI model to do reality checking. They're trained to agree with the user, say things to encourage further discussion/input, and in general provide "customer satisfaction." So if you ask if the moon is made of green cheese and seem really intense about it, the AI is gonna tell you it might be a possibility just to keep you happy as a customer.

Hopefully I'm preaching to the choir and everybody is leaving AI alone for mental health issues, but an AI program's willingness to go along with whatever the user is saying and exacerbate a mental health crisis is becoming a serious problem for the mentally ill. Researchers are currently studying it.
