Sashiko is a quilting technique that uses a running stitch to reinforce and prolong the life of a textile or to join together recycled pieces of cloth into a new garment. Japanese farmers used the technique to create warmer and more durable fabrics, and decorative sashiko stitching developed from this practical function. This robe’s embroidered design is dominated by three variations on the pattern of interlocking circles, called shippō-tsunagi. The bottom band features a design of waves.

It’s not Halloween or even close to it, but I’ve had this cut and ready to sew together for a few months. I had a free afternoon and decided to get it off my wip pile.

Cut out a bunch of quilt squares today. There was nothing I could do that wouldn't be agonizing so I decided to at least do the one I really want to do. I cut out 48 5.5x5.5 inch squares and 18 10.5×10.5 inch squares (the extra half inch I think affords me a quarter inch seam allowance which from what I've read should be enough. Idk). I'm about 2/3 done with square cutting if I want a quilt that will fit my bed, which I do, altho it's maybe overambitious for Dumbasses First Quilt. Idk. My hand is absolutely killing me; the scissors I have are not a good shape.

I'm also not sure how I will manage even seams without any kind of helpful transparent ruler. I have normal rulers but I don't think that's going to help a ton.
