Sick - Dr. James Wilson
Pairing: Dr. James Wilson x Fem!OC
Summary: Wilson’s wife gets sick and he takes care of her.
NOT MY GIF
Wilson was happy to get off work early. Odette had called him afternoon to let him know her fever broke, easing his worries that she may have to go to the hospital. He knew it was just the flu, but even then it was always a possibility considering there had been a crazy flu spreading around.
He came home to find Odette lying on the couch with a blanket over her and their cat, Sarah, lying on her legs.
“You moved to the couch?” he asked.
“I washed the bedding,” she said, her voice stuffy.“It’s still in the dryer. I’m just too tired to deal with it.”
He hung up his winter jacket on the coat rack, placing his bag on the chair beside it. He looked down to see Sarah trotting towards him, meowing. He knelt down, picking up the ball of white fluff.
“You’re supposed to be taking care of your mother,” he cooed at her.
“She’s been an excellent nurse,” Odette remarked. “I would recommend her to Cuddy.”
Wilson placed the cat down on Odette’s legs as he sat on the ottoman across the coach. He leaned down to kiss his wife’s forehead.
“I know you said the fever’s broken but how are you feeling?” he asked, stroking her hair.
“Meh, still can’t breathe through my nose and my throat hurts,” she said. “And before you ask, I did take medicine today. I was planning on taking my last dosage before bed.”
“Good girl,” Wilson chuckled.
She licked her lips, trying to ignore how Wilson remark made her thighs clinched. Still, she wasn’t going to let him ruin her chance to get what she wanted. “Buuuut…”
“But what?”
“I will only take it if you cuddle me with me,” she smirked, eyes twinkling mischievously. “A cuddle with you in addition to my medicine will help me rest and make me feel better. So you see, Dr. Wilson, it’s medically necessary that I get a cuddle tonight.”
He chuckled. “You’ve done research on this?”
“Obviously.”
“Then I guess, because it is medically necessary, I can’t deny you.”
He kissed the tip of her nose. “Let me set up the bed. You want dinner and a shower while you wait?”
“I’m ok. I showered earlier.”
“Have you eaten?”
“Just some soup. Still hard to eat when I can barely breathe through my nose.” She threw the blanket off. “I can order you some food though.”
“Lay down, sweetheart,” he ordered, gently.
She pouted. “But you need to eat too.”
“I had a big lunch.” He got up. “Let me take care of the bed. You just lay down and relax.”
==================================
After Wilson finished setting up the bed, he changed in his McGill shirt and plaid boxers. While Odette was in the bathroom brushing her teeth, he padded to the kitchen to give Sarah her medicine and refill her food and water bowl. He also grabbed two water bottles from the fridge.
Back in the bedroom, he placed one bottle on her nightstand and the other on his.
Just as he got under the covers, Sarah jumped up and meowed at him.
“Oh, you want snuggles too?” he chuckled softly as Sarah laid on his chest, purring. His fingers stroked her white fur. “You’re just as spoiled as your mom.”
“I’m spoiled, huh?”
He looked up to see Odette grinning as she closed the bathroom door behind her. Her eyes fell to Sarah.
“Oh you’re such a sneaky girl,” she cooed at the cat, scratching her behind her ears. “You just wanted to get in on the action, huh? I can’t blame you.”
She kissed the top of the cat’s head and then went over to her side of the bed. Sarah moved off James’ chest and down to the edge of the bed.
“Thank you,” Odette giggled as she grabbed the medicine and the water bottle from her nightstand. She took the two pills and chased it down with water.
“Good girl,” Wilson remarked softly.
She turned her head, face scrunched. “Don’t start. We’re just cuddling tonight.”
“I’m just being ecouraging,” he defended playfully. “Not my fault my encouragement gets you going.”
She rolled her eyes, setting the water bottle on the nightstand. She rest the side of her face on Wilson’s chest, basking in his warmth. Wilson’s arm moved around her as he rubbed her forearm.
She hummed in delight. “Oh, I’ve been missing this,” she yawned. “How have you been enjoying the guest room?”
“I don’t know if I would say I’m enjoying it,” he said. “I sleep better when I’m with you.”
She glanced up. “You do?”
He nodded. She licked her lips, the next question already tasting like vinegar.
“Did you feel that way with your last two wives?”
She was afraid of the answer, but her desperation to know was stronger.
Wilson shook his head. “I have a level a comfort with you that I’ve never had with anyone else except maybe House. You’re a calming presence in my life. I didn’t have that with them. First wife, we were young and didn’t think it through. Second wife, I was going through the motions. With you? It’s unconditional love. It’s real, but it’s comfortable.”
His eyes met her. “It’s home.”
Tears pooled in her eyes as he kissed the top of her head.
“Third time really was the charm,” she joked.
He chuckled. “It sure was.” He glanced down. “Get some rest. The sooner you get better, the more we can do this.”
She closed her eyes as Wilson rubbed the top of her head.
She was right. Third time was the charm.

Baby Shower
Against all odds, you made it to your due date pregnant with sextuplets. You insisted on scheduling the baby shower for today, despite your friends insisting that you wouldn't make it. It was good motivation for you to fight through the weeks of agonizing contractions to keep your brood in.
You're miserable and helpless, completely pinned to the bed by your misshapen, terrifyingly big baby bump. You're lying on your side in a mound of pillows, struggling to breathe just from the sheer pressure your achingly full womb is exerting on the rest of your body.
"Time to get up baby, we need to get you ready for the baby shower."
You groan, struggling to reposition your body but barely being able to shift your swollen bulk an inch. You haven't left the bed in weeks, let alone worn more clothes than an overstretched tank top stuffed with milk pads to prevent you from constantly ruining the sheets.
I realized weeks ago that even your largest, stretchiest maternity dresses wouldn't cover your grotesque fertility-idol figure without ripping, so I had something custom made for you. It takes us 20 minutes and three contractions just to stuff you into the stretchy dress, and it's just barely able to cover your pillowy shelf of an ass while holding in your heaving cow tits.
With guests due to arrive any minute now, we have to somehow get you into the living room. Just hauling you up into a sitting position has you sweating hard and gasping for breath.
"We might need to wait for some help, honey."
"No, I can do it. I can waddle." You're desperate for your friends and family to not have to see you like this.
Leaning your full weight on me, you stagger forward one step at a time. My muscles are screaming in protest but I know it's a fraction of what you're dealing with all the time. When a brutal contraction grips you, you have to desperately fight your body's instinct to squat down and push, figuring that if you go down, we're not going to be able to get you back up.
Somehow, we reach the living room couch. I lower you down to lie on your side, and roll over an ottoman for you to rest the protruding torpedo of your baby bump on. Your womb is writhing with activity, the sextuplets not happy about you exerting yourself so much. You groan softly as their strong kicks feel like they might crack your ribs.
Your painfully bloated feet are a sickening shade of bone-white, the sheer weight of your womb having cut off the circulation to them while you were upright. I give them a deep massage while you try to catch your breath. Your dress is already visibly stained with sweat. Suddenly, the doorbell rings. The first guests are here...

The Agency P2
Media - The Queens Gambit Character - Benny Watts Couple - Benny X Reader Reader - Y/n Rating - Sweet AF Word Count - 1428
I took my suitcases in hand and approached the stoop of the Brooklynn townhouse, Benny shut the door of the beetle and came up behind me,
"Down here." he said as he headed down the stairwell to a lower apartment,
"oh..." I was taken back but I followed a little sheepish,
I walked down after him being careful on the dark stairs, before he headed down a second set so I continued to follow even if the place seemed dirty and smelt like odd socks. He unlocked a tall metal door and headed inside so I quickly went inside.
"... oh." simply fell from my mouth as I saw the place,
It was a basement, the door behind me, a wall to my left with a few backlight switches and a hook where he hung up his jacket and hat, a railing to my right, a shelf of books just down the stairs, A door beside the shelf open that lead to a water closet, the apartment had maybe three lights hung overhead, one over the small kitchen that had perhaps four cabinets and an old battered fridge, a small lamp over the stovetop, one over the table where a vase with some white roses sat, and one above a small living space with no sofa just a pile of pillows on the floor, an old ratted rug, a small foldable coffee table covered in magazines, another two bookshelves filled with books, a round leather ottoman and a matching leather chair, a lamp beside it as well as a lighter stand beside a well-used record player. The furthest wall had a small desk with a stool by a wall of clippings and pictures, the back wall was just plane brick with a few trophies on a ledge, I was shocked to see the shower and bath sitting in the corner beside the fridge with a sink and mirror between the shower and the chair, An interior window and frosted glass door lead to the bedroom where the bed was made up.
I slowly walked down and did my best not to react as my face would give me away, Benny headed through fixing his hair and tidying the coffee table a little pushing the magazines into a pile.
My eyes for a moment caught the glimmer of the knife still on his belt, and one single thought ran through my mind.
'Oh god... He's gonna kill me. He has a knife. this is the basement of a serial killer. I am gonna be freaking skinned and made into soup!'
"It's not much but... it's home," He said,
"Mhm," I nodded,
"What do you think?" he asked,
I thought for a moment before squeezing on the handle of my suitcase and forcing out some words, "It... is... cosy."
he chuckled, "Yeah, that's uhhh one way to put it," he nodded, "Here let me," He took the cases from my hands and tossed them on the bed, "Did you fancy a coffee?"
"Ohh uhh yes please," I nodded,
"Alright, take a seat and make yourself cosy," he smiled indicating to the rest of the apartment,
I nodded so he headed to the kitchen, I gulped but slowly headed deeper into the apartment, I smoothed my dress under me as I took a seat on the leather chair, having to put my feet to the side as the chair was so low. I looked around a little and caught my eyes on the box of records beside the player, so I flicked through them a little seeing the sort of music he had. "You mind I put some music on?"
"Oh no go ahead, you take cream or sugar in your coffee?"
"Both, in decent helpings please."
"Hu, I'm a black coffee myself." he said, "I should have creamer in here..." he opened his fridge and I saw it was pretty empty with only some milk, some creamer, some cheese and a very battered pad of butter. "Ahh I do, and it... is in date that's surprising,"
I did chuckled a little until I found an album I liked so I took it from the dust cover and the cardboard sleeve sat it on the player and dropped the needle down to soon enough hear Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks playing from it,
"Ooohh good choice," he chuckled as he brought me over my coffee in a paper takeaway cup,
"Thank you," I nodded taking a tender sip,
"You're welcome," He smiled sitting his on the table, he brought the Otterman over and took a seat on it.
For a while we each just sat sipping our coffee, luckily the music filled the quiet air. Until he broke it,
"So?"
"So..."
"I suppose we both have... a lot of questions,"
"I'm sure we do," I nodded, "One each?"
"One each," he nodded, "So, why did you sign up for the agency?"
"Loaded the first question," I blushed a little, "Uhh well... I uhh I had been unsuccessful for many, many years and frankly, I just got tired of trial and error, just sort of wanted to have an understanding of intentions." I explained, "Plus my parents... not so subtly pushed me,"
He chuckled, "Yeah, I get that. kinda the same reason I did. No dating, not messing around just straight to the point," He nodded, "You're turn,"
"Uhh well... why is there a window into your bedroom?"
He laughed, "I don't actually know, I promise I'm not a weirdo." He says,
"You do seem relatively... normal,"
"Normal? My god I'm hurt." he joked,
"Sorry," I laughed,
"It's alright, I'm sure normal is a compliment to most people,"
"I meant it as one," I nodded, "You're turn,"
"Ughh well... this is my kinda, first run with the agency, have you been with them long?"
"A couple of years, a couple of false starts but uhh..." I coughed as I didn't want to finish the sentence,
"I won't ask," he nodded, "That's your business,"
"Why do you carry the knife?"
"Ohh... this is for protection," he rested his hand on his hip,
"From?"
"From whatever. Better to be safe than sorry." He smiled, "What do you do?"
"Ohh professional homemaker as of the moment,"
"makes sense," he nodded, "your turn,"
"what do you do?"
"Ohh," He smiled and picked up a magazine from the table and handed it over to me it was a magazine called 'Chess Review' and his photo was on the cover, "I play chess, professionally. Currently, US champion aiming for grandmaster and world champion down the road, Also wrote a chess book so that helps with the finances."
"They mentioned you were big into chess," I chuckled setting the magazine down,
"Yeah, I figured they would," he chuckled,
"I tried to dress accordingly," I looked down at myself,
"Well you look very beautiful," He smiled as he moved a little closer and rested his hand on my own, I blushed as our eyes met, "Sorry I-" he went to move back but I took his hand again and he smiled,
"You're turn," I smiled,
"I know is early, we uhh haven't really known each other that long and this is a pretty BIG decision but can I ask... if you like me? At least the initial introduction of me?"
I blushed but he was right we hadn't known each other very long, but we only had a week to make up our minds if we wanted to call this all off or if we wanted to go through with it so really we both knew our intentions, and we knew the clock was ticking on this decision, "I admit, I do like you benny, you seem very nice, and handsome and I'd really like to spend more time with you,"
He smiled, "Yeah I feel the same way too, I think this could maybe work out between us?"
"I think its possible,"
"Well... I'm happy to take a gamble Y/n," He chuckled, "Oh- shit-" He got up ran a hand through his hair, "I completely forgot," He muttered as he went to the table, he picked up the small vase with the white roses and brought it over, "I uhh I got these for you,"
"Awww thank you," I smiled happily taking the vase and giving the roses a smell, they smell so sweet and fresh, "You didn't have to do that Benny,"
"Well I wanted to get you something, and I thought it might make the place seem a bit more... cosy for you for this week,"
"Well thank you very much Benny that's very kind of you," I smiled giving his cheek a kiss,
"You're welcome Y/n," he blushed a little, "I did book us somewhere tonight... for dinner? if you wanted too?"
"I'd like that,"

Very happy with housework™️ accomplished this weekend
The goal was to lock in on organizing/decorating my office space slash guest room (like we’ll have a guest here tbh lol but hey we had an extra bed so when in Rome).
Before was basically just my desk, the chair and bed (no pillows)- pictured above minus the cart, that came this weekend. And imagine a lot more shit just recklessly piled on the chair that I sorted through.
This is after, as of tonight:

Lots of good finds to make it possible like:
-The glider chair and ottoman on fb marketplace for $100 (could’ve been even cheaper but we had them deliver bc based on pics and measurements I wasn’t sure if it would fit in my car. In retrospect I think it would’ve, which is kinda tragic, but still a good deal for the 2 pieces that size in pretty great condition imo).
-Those big shelves from marketplace for $25
-The cart thing and organizer which holds all my supplies for the diamond painting I like to do as well as miscellaneous craft and office supplies for like $30 with gift card/discounts at Michael’s
-Lil white shelf (on sale), battery lamp, laptop stand, and some picture frames altogether at IKEA for probably like $100 idk I didn’t keep great track there besides knowing the shelf was on sale.
I can’t wait to be a productive little office girl in there this week.
I need suggestions to make it even more cozy. We have to get cozier.
The chair corner is getting awfully crowded but I think it needs some faux plants. And maybe a floor lamp too. I know for the full look I need to pad up my bookshelves, but I installed the shelves more or less by myself and need to be sure of their capacity to hold up- I have horrific prophetic visions of them ripping out of the wall while I’m in the chair killing me instantly, and worse, totally blowing our chances at our security deposit.

FFXIVWrite Prompt 12: Dowdy
Rating: M
Word Count: 1800
Warnings: Mentions of death
Summary: Persephone is mulling over the choice she has to make; to die or become a vampire. She goes exploring the home of her rescuers, lost in thought. [Vampire AU, Hythazemet, continued from Prompt 11.]
Master Post
Once she had composed herself, Persephone took stock of the room. She had been right about heavy window coverings; curtains of a thick, velvety material made way for more modern, white blackout curtains, and then a more decorative, gauzy curtain on the outside where it could be seen by passerby. She moved the three layers back in place, and it blocked out all signs of sunlight.
The floor was decorated by a large, plush rug over fine hardwood floors, tucked partially under the massive bed that commanded the space from the wall it was pressed against. On the opposite wall was a currently unlit fireplace which, on closer inspection, was so immaculate she wondered if it was ever lit. Before it sat two upholstered chairs and, off to the side, two matching ottomans. Two side tables of dark wood flanked the bed, and a tufted bench sat along the footboard. Various other dark or woody decor filled the space, making it both feel homey and maybe like something out of a movie.
She then took stock of herself; Persephone was wearing a plain black tank top and shorts that she, with some embarrassment, realized she didn't recognize. She supposed it made sense — her clothes had probably been ruined by all the blood and she was certainly grateful it had been washed from her hair, even if part of her wanted to be mad about it. A soft, fluffy robe sat, folded, on the padded bench and she took it, realizing how cool it was in the room as she pulled it on and relished in its warmth.
Feeling a touch calmer after her inspection, she approached the door. Though it was clear she needed to stay, mostly for the safety of others (and with her memory of that night, she couldn't blame them for taking precautions), they hadn't said anything about staying in specifically this room, so she pushed the door open slowly. Outside was a rather plain hall, lushly carpeted, and no sign of her hosts. Persephone took a few steps outside and, when nothing appeared to chase her back into the relative safety of the bedroom, began to explore.
The first few doors she tried led to unremarkable rooms. The first was an ornate and grand office space, empty of occupants. Also empty of any visible technology; there were a few writing implements on the sturdy desk commanding the center of the room, some books decorating shelves, and a few bits and baubles that she couldn’t even guess at their uses. The next was a smaller and less decorated bedroom, clearly meant for guests, with a handful of books (guessing from the titles, they appeared to be various fiction novels, probably for entertainment), a small desk to the side with necessary paper and pens for if writing was required, a small table alongside the bed, and though she still had yet to see any modern technology outside of blackout curtains, when she stooped down she spotted a few outlets hidden next to the bed. She continued on past another few doors that turned out to be closets, storage, and other similar uninteresting spaces before finding a large, old fashioned library.
Like the bedroom, it almost looked like something out of a movie. Libraries she’d visited all had a very sterile feel with metal shelves and carts. This library was all warm wood tones and heavy dark fabrics, shelves lined with books that ranged, judging by the styles of cover she could gleam from the spines, from the very old to the very new. The shelves reached up to the vaulted ceiling, with a couple of sturdy ladders set up to allow access to the very highest tomes. A week ago she may have thought it quite dowdy, but with that sort of old charm, though now she couldn’t help but think how stereotypically styled it was for a couple of vampires. In the center of the room was another couple of plush chairs, like the ones in the bedroom, sat before another pristine fireplace, with a small table in between.
And in one of those chairs sat her lavender haired host, Hythlodaeus.
“Ah, I didn’t expect you to join me,” he said with a warm smile that was all welcome. “Did you want to talk or were you just looking for somewhere quiet?” She crossed over to him, the carpet plush under her bare feet, but hesitated before sitting.
“Oh, go ahead and sit, Hades won’t mind,” he motioned to the empty chair, guessing at the reason for her hesitance, and Persephone grimaced as she took the seat anyway, curling her legs up under her.
“He seems like he would,” she argued.
“Ah, yes, well, he makes a big show of it, but he’s really a big pushover. He’s all bark, no bite.” Hythlodaeus grinned at her. She leveled an unamused stare at him. “Well, I suppose I should say he only bites if you want him to. Anyway, what brings you here?”
“Well,” Persephone fidgeted, adjusting her robe around her. “I don’t know, I was just looking around and here I am.”
“Could I get you anything? Tea, food?”
“Tea sounds great. With sugar please.”
He rose and left the room, leaving her alone with her thoughts again. She pulled the shoulders of the robe more closely around her. The room was cozy, but somehow it still held a bit of a chill. Did vampires not get cold? Worries about the impending ultimatum loomed over her. Forever was a long time to commit to, but she also hadn’t exactly been ready for a terminal diagnosis either. Hythlodaeus returned with tea in one hand, a plate of cookies in the other.
“Our cupboards are a little bare at the moment,” he explained, somewhat sheepishly, as he passed her the tea and set the plate on the small table. “We haven’t entertained in a while so we haven’t needed to restock.”
“Honestly, cookies are perfect, thanks,” Persephone immediately took one as he reclaimed his seat, nibbling as she sipped the hot tea. She wasn’t normally a hot tea kind of person, but the smooth warmth did wonders on her still dry throat. “Um, can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“…What’s it like? When it’s ‘done right’ I mean? To, uh, become…” Persephone trailed off, motioning vaguely at him and hoping he got the idea because the words to name it lodged in her throat stubbornly.
“Ah. Is there a specific thing worrying you?”
“I just…want to know. How long does it take? Is it…unpleasant?” She clutched the tea close, the heat rising from it providing a comforting warmth.
“Well,” he started thoughtfully, leaning against one hand. “How long varies. I’ve known some vampires that said they went to sleep healthy and woke up like this, and I’ve known people where it took over a week. It seems to take less time if the vampire turning you is stronger, but it also depends on the person being turned, and I’m not sure what about them specifically influences it. As for the pleasantness of it… Well, no, it’s not, but it also wasn’t the most unpleasant thing I’d ever experienced, and it only lasts a short time in the grand scheme of things.”
“What happens, exactly? If you’re comfortable with sharing,” she took a sip of her tea, watching him carefully as he seemed to search for how best to describe it.
“Well, we call it an infection, though it’s more of a magical thing, not connected to any bacteria or virus,” he began. “But the body reacts like it is. Fever, chills, aches and pains. It feels a bit like the worst cold of your life. It gets worse as it runs its course. And at the end…well, you die.”
“Wait,” she interrupted. “I thought this was the option that ends in me not dying.”
“Not precisely. This is the option that ends with you coming back from dying. The other option, there is no coming back,” he picked at a spot on the chair for a moment. “When you come back, that’s it, it’s done. So, like I said, a short amount of time.”
“What makes doing it your way different than just letting this bite take its course?” she asked. He sighed.
“I don’t know how long ago, but someone a long time ago figured out a ‘cure’ of sorts, to keep people infected by vampires from just becoming feral beasts,” he explained. “But, it’s not a great cure. It’s somewhat of a curse. No one’s sure who the first vampire to be able to do it was, or how, but the one who turns you marks you with magic, and it binds you to them, and you have to do as they will, follow their commands. It also has the great side effect of letting you keep your mind.”
“There must be a way to break that bond though,” she pointed out. “I haven’t seen any signs of anyone else living here.”
“Yes, but it’s not easy. You have to kill the vampire that bound you,” he gave a wry sort of smile, and she thought about all the little touches that made it clear this place belonged to two, how he’d introduced Hades as a friend. If you were fond of the person who turned you…
“I see.”
“Luckily for you,” he sat up straighter, looking somewhat cheerier. “Hades isn’t really interested in having a bunch of thralls doing his bidding. Very much a ‘live and let live’ kind of vampire.”
“Then how did you end up here?”
“That is a story for another day,” he nudged the plate a little closer to her, and she took another cookie. “Not to try to influence your decision, but if you decided to stick around, so to speak, maybe I’ll tell you.” Persephone nodded, not wanting to pressure him.
“Why do all of the fireplaces look brand new?”
“Hmm? Oh, they may as well be, we never burn them,” he laughed. “It’s always too warm anyways.”
“Too warm?” she squeaked incredulously, setting her tea down to rub some warmth back into her arms.
“You’re surprised? We run…pretty cold,” he took her hand in his, and she jumped at how icy it was. “So unless it’s practically a blizzard outside, yes, it’s warm. Too warm most of the time. You feel like you’re burning up, even though I know your temperature is normal right now.”
“Huh,” she looked at where his hand pressed to hers, and tried to imagine being the same temperature. Glancing up at his face then, she realized his eyes had a soft glow to them. That his gentle face and kindly smile made her want to…
“I want to stay.”
