I won't forbid you, brother, to dance with the Germans, but I have no intention of joining you in this dance. So that future generations wouldn't say that Zawrats are traitors. And sons of a bitch. Tobie bracie z Niemcami tańczyć nie zabronię, ale ja nie mam zamiaru. Żeby ci, co po nas przyjdą, nie powiedzieli, że Zawraty zdrajcy. I skurwysyny.

Teenage Shouto talking about his older brother that's "very emotional" and "is a big cry baby". Everyone in Class 1-A, especially those who have met Fuyumi, imagines Touya as this adorable angel who could do no wrong.
Cut to two weeks later and a black haired, piercing filled man with the most shit eating of smirks is seen at the entrance of the school, about to pick up Shouto. He almost got Bakugou to blow up one of the walls and definitely got the number of visiting pro hero Hawks while he was waiting for Shouto's class to end.
Class 1-A is very, very confused. This is the crybaby older brother Shouto was talking about?? Bitch where???

I got curious about the podcast you've been listening to, and I listened to the Snow White episode tonight. They got into this abstract discussion of motherhood, and I was surprised that no one brought up the fact that Snow White herself doesn't have a mother anymore (or a father, presumably), and the fact that she is an orphan contextualizes how she responds to others with motherliness. I just rewatched the movie, and it's notable what an especial compassion she has for anyone without parents. Before the huntsman makes his attempt, she's concerned about a little bird separated from its parents and helps them reunite. Later, she concludes that the inhabitants of the cottage must be seven children who are orphans, and it's clear that she's worried for them, and ready to step in to help them out--which in turn will help her out, because she's an orphan in need of care herself. No one has been taking care of this girl, and it says so much about her character that her response to this deprived upbringing is to make every effort to give others what has been denied to her.
I noticed the same thing during rewatch--Snow is constantly caring for others, especially children. I hadn't consciously connected it with her orphan status--I focused on the fact that she's a good mother contrasted with the evil queen as a bad mother--but you're so right. Snow White knows the pain of losing her parents and it gives her so much compassion for those in similar situations, and it's so impressive and says so much about her strength of character.

i really like the dichotomy of everyone respecting Nana as their friend off stage (and the darker feeling she has that they All take from her in one way or another except Karen) but inside the stage duels as performers with her as their ultimate test, they're all still prideful enough to treat it as every man's glory for themselves, making it so they can't hold a grudge against Nana outside the Revues because to everyone the Revues are Just Business and a space for words that don't belong outside it- which plays into the repression that's hurting all their relationships, they really thought of everything making this series

Right Wing Watch:
Pam Bondi, President-elect Donald Trump’s second pick for U.S. Attorney General, has ties to New Apostolic Reformation dominionists who worked hard to put Trump back in office and believe his election will bring about a spiritual “great awakening” that will help like-minded right-wing Christians take control of the “seven mountains” of influence in America—government, business, education, media, arts and entertainment, religion, and family.
After Bondi left office as Florida’s Attorney General, she joined the America First Policy Institute, a think tank created by former staffers that, like the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, has been laying the groundwork for a “revolutionary” plan to “seize control” and dismantle the “administrative state” -- federal agencies charged with protecting American workers, consumers, and communities from corporate wrongdoing. This year, AFPI partnered with dominionist Lance Wallnau’s Courage Tour, which mixed religious revival with Christian nationalist politics and pro-Trump political organizing. Wallnau celebrated the announcement of Bondi’s nomination as a “great pick,” noting, “She’s part of the America First Policy Institute, a great group I had the privilege of working with in the last year.”  Reflecting the MAGA movement’s increasingly aggressive Christian nationalist orientation, AFPI claims scriptural foundations for every aspect of its right-wing policy agenda, which it has called “10 Pillars for Restoring a Nation Under God.”
Former Florida AG Pam Bondi, who Donald Trump tapped to replace Matt Gaetz for the DOJ head job, has ties to Seven Mountains Dominionists and Christian Nationalists.

I asked a while ago if anyone knew whether CXS, LG, and QL representing The Star Warriors of hope, courage, and wisdom respectively meant anything, and I got a phenomenal reply from shimmeringweeds. CXS and QL's themes just sorta fit the vibes of their characters for me. The only issue was that I didn't really understand why Lu Guang was the Star of Courage of all things especially if he wasn't the star of wisdom.
It was bothering me a lot because I just could not see it at first, and now I realise why.
The fandom often talks about Lu Guang time travelling back to save Cheng Xiaoshi to be an act of love and desperation and gayness, that he just couldn't go on without him and was willing to risk throwing the into disarray just to say his name once more (sobbing). But this only really looks at the angsty parts of what Lu Guang must have been going through and thinking about when he made his decision to dive.
This is because travelling back in time to save Cheng Xiaoshi also means carrying the risk of failing to save Cheng Xiaoshi, a very realistic and almost certain outcome that he will be there again holding his best friend as he dies in his arms, Lu Guang as helpless to save him as he was the first time (and every other time). There's no way he hasn't thought about that, watching the life sink out of Cheng Xiaoshi but forcing himself to sit through it so his best friend's final moments will be with someone who loves him, so he won't be doomed to be abandoned even in his final moments. Even if he's going to go back and change the timeline, erasing this death, Lu Guang doesn't ever want to leave him alone. For Cheng Xiaoshi, Lu Guang never wants to run away.
And so Lu Guang keeps going back, despite this certainty of failure and the soul-scarring consequences of it. It might not be an understatement to say that Cheng Xiaoshi's death was the worst thing that ever happened to Lu Guang, and that's a testament to the guts he has for facing that reality again and again for the sake of one he loves.

The best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed.
