The state of the league of villains during act 3 is so sad man. Compress literally gave his ass for the league, got arrested and nobody gaf. Twice’s demise amounted to nothing, nobody cared. The whole discrimination arc Spinner was involved in was a mess. Suddenly Hori decided he cared about realism in his story so Toga dropped like a fly from a simple blood transfusion. Dabi is forced to sit and listen to Endeavor whine and yap about how sad he is about being an abusive pos, all the while nobody actually cares and he never got any real repercussions besides his family being (justifyingly) mean to him. Shigaraki was sidelined for a boring villain and was stripped off all his autonomy and agency.
#mha lov#mha spoilers#mha critical#bnha critical#league of villains#Shigaraki only addressing Spinner during his final moments is crazyyy#like i get you love your bf but dude you have other friends#what was the point of the compress reveal when he didn't show up again lmaoo#trying to have a discussion about the moment between hawks and twice#without a rat whispering in your ear about how it's justified because the government ordered it is great#why are there so many cop bootlickers in this fandom?#this is rhetorical question don't answer it#“noo don't do violent protest i don't like it :(” “okay what else should we do?” “lmao idk”#rancid plotline i don't wanna talk about it#todo family always talking about talking but never actually doing it is very funny#silly todoroki family thinking they can get lines in while Enji's big ass mouth is yapping#our expectations were low but holy shit#i really need to get my thoughts in order in one post lmaoo

In the context of the City of LA's 3.2 Billion dollar police budget this isn't just cruel it's fucking obscene. If you live in the city I recommend yelling at your piece of shit council person (or if you live in Districts 1, 4, or 13: your council person) about this deeply immoral decision about how they're spending our god damned dollars.
#I am very mad about this is the point I am getting at#And to the extent that I can stop this from happening I intend to#Which part of the extent that I can is informing other LA citizens so that's where you all come in#If you're in LA at any rate#It is the extremely moral and correct position of maeamian dot tumblr dot edu that how fucking dare they cut this program#While hiring enough cops to make sure we stay competitive with the NYPD on the candy crush leader boards

"yes im so fine"
*researches whether i can get my hands on ipecac*
#tw ed#obligatory MASSIVE do not do this#straight up poison that can kill you from one (1) time#used to be used to induce vomiting#directly the cause of death of karen carpenter and countless others#i wont i swear i wont#but i still researched it bc i was curious#tbh there are easier ways of poisoing oneself than semi illegal drugs#also if yall remember the post about a poison i own: i did more reseach and while that amount would probably kill me w no medical#intervention; it would take just under three times as much to be absolutely certain of hitting the toxic dose (calculated quantity per kg#of the top end of a given range. so it could kill me but if i was gonna go out that way id want about three times as much to be sure.)#honestly surprised ive never heard of any deaths from it. the most likely way to survive would be to throw it up i think#(or present to hospital and take charcoal or smth)#honestly though. my research says loss of consciousness and required intubation within half an hour in case studies#hence if you werent in reach of medical attention youd probably collapse an die#and i am very deliberately NOT mentioning what it is bc of how toxic it is#ive thought of combining it and another method to be absolutely sure but eh#honestly if it DIDNT work it sounds straight up embarrassing to admit to people tho thats one of the things stopping me#but literally a dose in a child requiring intubation and kid ended up in a coma recovered w no ill effects.#thats the dream yk. try and succeed and youre free; try and fail and you see no ill effects.#but yeah i wouldnt try w only the amount i have.#so im safe#....rereading the above. okay i might be a little mentally ill lol#but i am safe and absolutely nobody call the cops on me.#im fine.#tw suicide#puddleglum hours#nobody worry abt me ok. im fine.#just thinking silly lil thoughts like usual :)#EDIT: just occurred to me that using this poison could make it not look like a suicide

2024 reads / storygraph
Bang Bang Bodhisattva
mystery set in a near-future cyberpunk future
follows a trans hacker who does random gigs to get by, but is on the verge of losing her apartment
and an ex-cop PI who takes her along on jobs sometimes - and when they’re investigating his missing ex-best friend they find him murdered instead
along with her new crush mysteriously disappearing - she’s dragged in the middle of a mystery with few leads
trans polyamorous MC, ace MC
#Bang Bang Bodhisattva#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#This is interesting!#Some fun and interesting characters and I liked the platonic buddy comedy parent/child figures kind of vibe they had going on.#thank u lulu for mentioning this to me bc it was an ace character; which thought that was handled pretty well (if brief!).#Nice to see older ace characters.#I liked the near future cyberpunk dystopia - very easy to see how we could easily go from here to there#especially with the rise of fascism and tech bros currently..#I’ve seen review like wahh wahh outdated internet references but idk. have you seen gen z on the internet#people love to bring back that shit. I assumed it was meant to be ironically cringe?#While I do think the themes re: the antagonist’s identity (like theseus ship & cyborgs) are interesting; it feels a bit#uncomfortably close to some specific [identity related] tropes. And also felt a bit unmeshed with the rest of the story in general?#Like I feel like I would have enjoyed that as a narrative from that character’s POV but as a murder mystery murderer….idk.#It kinda starts conversations about cops and racism but doesn’t really go anywhere with all of them?#Other than I guess being clear how the systems are all terrible & a fair amount of police violence#anyway mixed feelings!

i havent even read enough gl to justify the feelings and emotions i have about kyle i just have the lovers heart and also something wrong with me. and my projection. in my mind he's just like me. and he would have loved college vending machine frozen cheeseburger and heating it up in the microwave at 1 in the morning because he was bored and didn't want to work on a drawing assignment on 20" x 30" paper that was due tomorrow in his freshman year. he would have loved going to the club to push off finals work that's creating the worst stress known to man in his brain. and he would love to annoy the fuck out of his roommate when high and avoiding homework on a saturday.
#IN MY MIND HE'S JUST LIKE ME and i understand why he dropped out of art school also.#i need to get back to my readings but im too into thinking about the couple dozen issues i have read#and then going i wonder what he was like in college. and the answer is definitely fucking annoying.#if i knew him i know we would be not arguing in art history class. i would be saying his takes are stupid outside of class during break.#and he would go i dont know how somoene can defend british utilitarian furniture so vehemently and try to liken it to bauhaus design#our arguments would also stem from having very different art history and therefore philosophy education. his background would be from a pro#who would focus on european canon as per usual while my prof was coming from the perspective of someone with a phd in asian art history#and a curriculum based mostly around exploring and investigating non euro art work and how movements like modernism and#post modernism functioned in other continents.#this is such a main blog post but idont care. EVERYONE HAS TO KNOW HOW I PROJECT AND INTERACT WITH HIM IN MY MIND#he would also hate how i argue for art even i dont care about by approaching it at the philosophical angle.#'how do you like this it's barely even art. or it is art. but it's a boring cop out for suckers. honestly.'#'the thing is i dont like it. i just think you need to expand your world views and stop being close minded. youre limiting yourself.'#you might go eiffel what are you basing this on? the answer is vaguely remembered panels in my mind plus generally taste opinions of his i#can gleam from what art references they give him within issues.#it would also be funny bc like. he has a background in design... he's just stubborn and snobby i think when it then comes to the realm of#fine arts. i think his opinions and how they operate in regards to design + illustration + non gallery art are probably quite different#but i cant lie. from the singular 'i dont wanna be some loser who shows up with a blank canvas to a gallery' panel i remember someone talki#about in a post i have used it to create a variety of thoughts i think he could have had.#and the answer is the opinions of someone definitely a little annoying in art school. with a pretty standard traditional training#and background that stems from euo+american art history and sensibilities that inform how he interacts with art. which is very normal#but i think it's funny to view him as someone i would probably roll my eyes at for some comments he would be making.#and it gets funnier with how he acts generally as a person.#kyle you cant be this snobby when you are drawing pin ups of your work crush in your home studio...#good lord this got so long i have a problem. hi. sorry to my new follower your kyle posting made me go ha ha kyle. i like that guy.#static.soundz#back issues box#< it might as well go there bc i blabbed way too hard and too much. sorry. overtaken by an entity in my mind

Let him call, because again, Agasa was the one who set up this secret, he should be the one defending it. Again, the parent shows up out of the blue here, but I kinda wish they didn't. Because Shinichi's the protagonist, he has to deal with everything in the end, but I want Agasa to be confronted. Have him make up more lies. Bring in the parents slower, have them contact Kogoro to arrange for Conan to stay long term and work out payment. Ran asks about the parents and Kogoro is like 'oh it's fine, they're covering his stay', and Conan's going '...? ???????'. Agasa denies having anything to do with it on Yuusaku's orders. Conan frets about it for a while and they actually see how he'd react to potential unknown danger. And then spring the 'kidnap him' trap to fully show him what could possibly happen.
But I guess just 'kidnap him and potentially give him a heart attack to prove that death is a real possibility' without any setup or warning is fine, too, sure.
#ch 49#vol 5#I actually don't mind the kidnapping as much as many other people#But now I've made a more fleshed out scenario in my head that I'm sad isn't how this goes#But mostly I just want more acknowledgement that Shinichi never set up any of the identity drama#Agasa made up the story; he's the one who put secrecy in Shinichi's mind; and if there's any poking at the story; Agasa should be defending#Instead he just sits at home not having to deal with anything except occasional vents from Shinichi#And I guess fiddle with gadgets that might help#But really he was just 'oh you shrunk; well that sucks but no you're not staying with me; go with Ran'#Like; I know he justifies it with Ran's dad running an actual detective agency and thus can potentially get criminal info#But lbr; both of them knew that Kogoro wasn't going to get anything useful from where he was at the time#And even if he told Shinichi to increase Kogoro's reputation; there wasn't any planning on how to make that happen#Which almost got Shinichi killed /immediately/ after getting shoved onto Ran#Agasa doesn't even know about that near-death experience; and it would 100% be his fault tbh#Many times Shinichi was going to die would be because of Agasa insisting on secrecy and giving Shinichi the responsibility-#Wait; no; hold on; he might have not actually been trying to help Shinichi hunt for the org#He might have just shoved him into a place he was relatively certain would be safe#And told Shinichi he could just make Kogoro famous if he wanted to put the detective in a position to get info#/But he wasn't actually supposed to be able to do it - Shinichi wasn't supposed to succeed at doing that/#He was sent into hiding with a former cop; Agasa probably didn't realize he'd actually be in the fringes of BO activity#Or that Shinichi is just /that/ reckless when it came to crime solving#It was supposed to be a placebo while he and probably the parents tried to think about what to do#But Shinichi not only gets very close brushes with death on a regular basis#He can't even keep up the kid act with Ran and needs help#Agasa took his eyes off the teen child for two seconds and found that he started a bonfire of danger somehow#(Look at that; yes; I /can/ think myself in many circles to make almost anything justified)

obv i like physical work on some level and i think the technical skill of like a welder or an electrician is cool and i wish i had that but i think for some reason my like fellow downwardly mobile middle class art school friends have become convinced that these are like good well paying jobs in line with like many desk jobs. they are good well paying jobs in comparison to like. dishwashing or being a barista but from vague observation it seems like after 2-5 years in tech you will make way more than a career welder will ever make. also those jobs will kill you in way more straightforward ways.
#sorry i was (mostly joke) seething over my good friend's very chill undangerous and high-paying tech job the other day#complaining about spending 15 minutes copy pasting while making 75 an hour#like yes that ironworker has a union but he is also more likely to die on the job than either a cop or a soldier

Certified worsties(tm)
Now in color!
#persona 3#persona 5#goro akechi#ken amada#my art#i stand by the fact that ken and goro would have such a nuanced dynamic of hatred and sympathy that fluctuates back and forth#in part because of how similar they are and how to one they see the other as a version of themselves had things gone right/wrong#which is something they DESPISE. but yet there's something in each of them that cant help but feel a LITTLE sympathy towards#especially cause in a way they get each others struggle in a way VERY few people can.#its just that one managed to escape in time while the other went way too far#and even then that doesnt erase the trauma said events left on the two which differ for the two but its something they both awkwardly get#its. a lot#that said on the other side of things they're both so stubborn to admit they respect the other and just constantly throw insults#because theyre both THAT petty and stubborn about it#anyway i think a buddy cop mystery with these two would be fun ngjkdhgkjdhfkj

living in my happy dream world where they didn't make a character choice so bad it runs contrary to the conceit of the franchise. The movies are a lot of fun to me and I appreciate how they were part of my gateway into the franchise. But. But..
#tom being a cop is so unnecessary. there are other professions that could demonstrate how he's a ''protector'' way better#it makes me very curious how they're going to handle the plot points they're lifting from sa2 because#How do you reconcile this disparity.#it's thoughtless at BEST#that's all i wanna say because as a person of color cops are very exhausting and upsetting for me to think about#ive been holding these feelings for a long while but i might as well say them while everyone else is#all the other stuff in these movies i have so much fun with so im still excited for more#but i do dislike that dark cloud that hangs over them#vent#ish

i have a headache and can NOT think clearly enough to really gather my thoughts but as much as i really did like atsv there were just. things about it that didnt work for me. and like mostly i was not big on how they did the “canon events” stuff like im not AGAINST it just at points felt like sort of redoing the moment in itsv where after aaron dies the other spiderpeople are able to comfort and relate to miles because they’ve been through similar things and this is like... that but in a technical lore way and not hitting the same emotional beat?? like obvioulsy they’re taking it somewhere different and its about like defying the story that’s laid out for you and i LIKE that but. idk. and im like yeah obviously theres stuff thats part of the spiderman origin story we KNOW this we did it already in the last movie and it was a great scene. and also like theres no way everything they referenced is 100% true for every version of spiderman, even every single one that cameos in the movie?? idk. it just Frustrated me in a way that i truly cannot put my finger on
#anyway did my Actual Getting My Thoughts Sorted in the tags. so they got long.#atsv spoilers#im on my period and my head hurty and i feel like im thinking through a fog so. thats part of the problem#also im just like yeah man fixed events in the time stream or whatever its a very standard thing#idkkkk i literally feel like im close to a thought that i cant piece together#something something what makes spider people So Special that THEY have fixed destinies that others dont idkidk#was that what the web thing was?? being a spiderperson doesnt have to do with the multiverse tho like. idk if this makes sense#i promise im not being cinemasins about the lore here#its just like. i wanna figure out what it was that didnt work for me so i gotta talk it all out#and like i realize its meta commentary on comics and retellings and stuff too and. idk#something about 'its a fixed moment in a spider persons life that a police captain has to die while saving a child' feels kind of Dumb#to watch as like a Serious Moment?? idk#like obviously its TRUE to some extent bc. they are all retellings of the same story and thats the POINT#and i get that.#but also youre CREATING some of these stories for the movie#like idk a TON about hobie in the comics altho i'd like to read more im just kind of vaguely familiar#but what i can gather he has NO cop related backstory so like. now theyve given him one :|#and i dont love that!#and its like. yeah they want something that can connect to miles' dad. and hes a cop and this is something that is. Generally Speaking.#a connection in many spiderman retellings. but. again and i dont know this for a fact#does that happen in the comics to any spiderman other than different versions of peter parker?#like saying its a Key Thing when its. largely invented for the movie. maybe?#i like the storyline for miles and im like i wish it had been arrived at in some slightly different way? idk#had a great conversation about it w my brother in the car after the movie bc we both were kind of like 'oh' abt the whole movie#like it was GREAT but had been hyped up SO much and we were like. well this doesn't surpass or elevate the first#he thought miles' parents writing didnt feel consistent w the first which. i should do a rewatch of itsv tbh#and was commenting on how much gwen sucked and fucked miles over and im like yeah man i loved that#dont be cinemasins and say its a plothole bc she made bad choices#shes a scared teenager who bought into miguel's scheme and is making decisions a scared teenager would#we both agreed the soundtrack does NOT compare to itsv

As a person who loves drama as long as it doesn’t involve me and who is also a bit of a rubberneck, living in my street truly is never boring. Just had a guy break someone’s nose in front of my house who then tried to steal our neighbor’s flag of Portugal at 5 in the morning
#never a dull moment where I live#last year someone kicked it my neighbor’s door at like 2 in the morning#and the year before my other neighbor locked himself out of the house after a night of drinking so he took a very smelly dump in the middle#of the street at 3 in the morning#and a couple years before that someone’s car broke down in front of our house at like 1 in the morning#and last year someone left their sigaret in a wooden ashtray which then caught fire and so the entire fire department had to come at like 1#in the morning and eventually the house was too badly damaged on the inside#never a dull moment#oh and a few years ago the guy living a few doors down died and then the police ended up searching his entire estate cuz he had something to#do with a murder that happened in the city#it’s the same man that used to lay in his front yard while he was shitting himself because he was so drunk#and then of course you had the old man who killed cats and hung them up on a wire outside#just normal things ya know#never a dull moment in my street#you’d think I’d live like in a weird ass neighborhood when actually I live about 4 streets away from the cops lol#me

this still applies with her new VP pick; no matter how many witty jokes and quips he makes, no matter how many times they smile and laugh and call themselves the “joyful” ticket — they express this joy as they continue supporting, funding, and actively carrying out genocide.
Biden's stepped down for a younger, more competent genocidaire to take his place. Probably think they won't need to change the policy as long as they change the face.
#political#us politics#i fucking hate seeing all these liberal takes about how they “feel optimistic for the first time#like are you fucking kidding me?#you have the gall to feel optimistic about us politics as THESE CURRENTLY ELECTED OFFICIALS participate in genocide#múltiple genocides#haven’t even mentioned any of the other genocides happening across the african continent#not a peep from Cop-mala about Sudan Congo or Ethiopia#not a single plan to stop arming and funding isra-hell#the very cursory glance of done at her VP shows me that he is not willing to act in meaningful solidarity with palestinians while in office#and yet you feel optimism…#your imperialism is showing!#grrrrrr

The Italian restaurant in my mom’s hometown WAS definitely a mob front. The owner briefly served in the Italian military, immigrated to America in his twenties back in the early 70s, mysteriously had enough money to open a chain of Italian restaurants and was convicted for trafficking cocaine across the Virginia/West Virginia area and spent 15 years in prison.
My mom had worked as a waitress at the place while she was a teenager and throughout her 20s and she realized that when she was sent to the restaurant’s sister location in West Virginia in a mysteriously packed car by her mysteriously nice boss, it probably wasn’t pizza ingredients she was hauling. It was the 80s. She was a tiny, very naive, conventionally attractive church girl with no criminal record so she was the perfect unwitting drug mule.
The thing was, this restaurant and the man who operated it were locally loved. Beyond large scale organized cocaine trafficking, food was his other passion. Everyone waited anxiously for him to get out of prison and when he did this guy started a crusade against the corrupt local sheriff’s office. He started doing anti-police brutality advocacy work WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Donating to local families who had been victims and participating in local drives and awareness campaigns.
Made men usually do local charity work but the balls on this guy to take up sword and spear against shitty corrupt ineffectual law enforcement. Incredible. One thing about Appalachians is that we hate the cops and we love social agitators. This guy lived a long eventful life and died recently of natural causes and the overwhelming outpouring of love for him on Facebook was incredible, a uniting force that the town had not seen in decades, everybody was sharing their favorite stories about him and I’m sure local law enforcement was fuming.
#the history of the mafia in Appalachia is really interesting#how Italian organized crime thrived from the 60s to the 90s in Appalachia and still exists there today#swooped right in after the coal boom

Sometimes in therapy I feel like I don't have trauma in some correct sort of way. Like I'll be explaining that my childhood wasn't even really traumatic, just kind of bleak and boring. The worst my parents ever made me feel was disappointed, but not surprised. it was all so very mundane. And whenever some therapist asks me what I mean, I'll tell some random story that I happen to remember off the top of my head of what my childhood was like, or one that I think illustrated what kind of people my parents were and what their relationship was like.
Like this one time I remember when I was like 10 or so, I can't remember where we were going but the whole family was getting into the car, and dad started bitching at mom about how come when their first car was in his name, it was their car, and then when they had their own cars they had his car and her car, but now that they only have one car again, it's still just her car.
And then mom bitterly pointed out that the reason why he doesn't have a company benefit car anymore is because he lost his lisence for driving drunk with the kids on board while she was on a business trip. (And while mom didn't bring it up at the time, he had also tried to cover this up and act like nothing had happened. And she wouldn't have found out if my (11/12-year-old at the time?) sister hadn't thought of calling one of mom's friends like "hey cops showed up and took dad so we're home alone now idk what we're supposed to do now" and she came to watch us and told mom.)
...And I was like 10 and sitting quietly on the back seat listening to them bickering about this because they still both bothered to be mad about it. Not mad enough to get divorced or anything, but still bitter enough to bitch at each other about each other. And a therapist will be like wow how did that make you feel, and ???
Bored of it? Disappointed, but not surprised? That was just what life was like. Quietly waiting for bitter adults to be done bickering with each other because you can't do anything to fix this and while they could, they won't do anything to improve their lives. Life was just like that.
