tbh i think a lot of the people saying "well both sides are wrong"/"bt stans are just as toxic" are just not exposed to other perspectives in this fandom. as a buddie fan who's been watching this show since s1, i can safely say that buddie fans have always been toxic. like as fact. to me, to say that bucktommy fans are just as harmful or just as annoying or just as bad as buddies consistently are is just. delusional. indicative of at worst a biased opinion and at best an uninformed one. buddie has been here since s2 and fans have ruthless ever since. bucktommy has been here for 3/4 of a season and for the most part, stay in their lane. i'm sure there are bucktommy fans who suck, like that's just being on the internet, but you have to be blind to ignore how insane buddie fans are and genuinely how much worse they are in comparison.
i don't want to generalize and i think constantly adding that disclaimer is annoying as hell bc obviously i'm not talking about everyone but because buddie has been here for so long and taken up so much mental space of very die-hard, passionate fans, you're going to see much more intensity on that side. after season 5, i had to step away from the fandom and the show because of how frustrating it got. it was annoying to see people swear up and down buddie will be canon by the end of s3-no wait s4-no wait s5-no wait- and ultimately it sucked my enjoyment out of a show i otherwise enjoyed because i got swept up in the Buddie Of It All and forget about why i watch the show to begin with. we've been left to stew in our theories and now we can't tell what canon and what's fanon anymore, and when the show reminds us, the disappointment and frustration kills our hopes.
i was also active in the dan and phil fandom and supernatural fandom, like ik why people think we're annoying and it's because we are. we make everything about the one thing we like, we comment on every post begging for it to become canon, we're violently disappointed when the show doesn't play into our fan theories because we've convinced ourselves buddie is going to happen by the end of the next episode or actually the end of this season or actually maybe the end of the next season. we've torn a part every female love interest, either making them boring or making them unlikeable in our fanon. all that to say is that when people call us annoying, they're telling the truth and when bucktommy fans say buddie fans are toxic, they're coming from a sincere place. i mean we can't even enjoy our own ship because we're so quick to get our hopes up and be let down about something as stupid it becoming canon. who cares if it becomes canon, just like it to like it.
and it makes sense why there's perceived "toxicity" on the bucktommy side. our energy is being matched; the obsession, the passion, the surge in fandom. if you don't like it or even just find it annoying, i suggest you guys look back on your own posts and comments and behaviors towards other people in the fandom and other characters and unbiasedly compare it to the Toxic Bucktommy Shippers you're claiming you hate. if bucktommy fans are obsessive, it's because we've set the stage for that. if bucktommy fans are getting aggro and defensive, it's because buddie fans have been on the opposition and don't know how to turn it off. we've gone from underdog to bully somewhere in the last 6 seasons.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH “HUMAN” MODEL, LILITH
Interviewer: Hello everyone! Today we brought in a rather unique person here! Let’s welcome in model, Lilith.
Lilith: Hello, it’s a pleasure to be here today.
I: No, it’s our pleasure. It’s not everyday we see someone like you!
L: Oh you jest, surely I can’t be that interesting. I’m no different from those on Alien Stage after all.
I: I didn’t expect one of the highest ranking models to be so humble as you! You’re surely to be a once in a lifetime phenomenon. I must say, your guardia-
L: Hm? My guardian? Surely you mean my father correct?
I: Ah yes, I’m sorry for that. You look so much like a human, I forget you aren’t. I suppose that’s your magic.
L: I suppose so. My father was quite dedicated when creating me. I have him to thank for getting me this far.
I: What an intelligent man, his name is Dottore correct? Perhaps we should interview him eventually, haha
L: I don’t think he’d enjoy that, sir.
I: Ah-, well um, Anyways, we have some questions for you today, if you don’t mind answering some of them?
L: I don’t see why not, after all this is an interview.
I: Starting us off, You seem quite invested in this season of Alien Stage, have any reason why?
L: Oh, I’ve always been interested in Alien Stage, it being my favorite show ever. I even have all the merch. With how round with Aurien being taken away from that strange creature, this season so far might be my favorite. My bets are on Sai!
I: How interesting, do you have any other thoughts on this season?
L: These contestants are quite intriguing I must say. I haven’t seen a season this interesting since season 35. I still think Milo should’ve won but I rest my case.
I: Sorry to disappoint, but some fans have asked, outside of Alien Stage, what are your other likes and dislikes?
L: Ah, that’s a shame, I enjoy speaking about Alien Stage. Well that’s no worries, I suppose it would be writing. Well, not writing per se, but writing letters. I enjoy communication as it was in it’s golden era. And perhaps partially as when I’m not modelling, my father doesn’t allow me out. He loves me too much to be hurt.
I: Writing letters huh? How charming from a girl such as yourself.
L: I enjoy it so, in fact I heard the 40th class of Anakt Garden is open to outside letters. I might try something out.
I: That’s definitely going to be fun for you! However I believe you still have dislikes to cover?
L: Oh I’m sorry. If I had to say…. I dislike the rebels and unladylike behavior. Everyone, both boys and girls should keep themselves to proper behaviors.
I: Of course, I might just have to ask you to hold a class on ladylike behavior, hahaha!
L: I don’t know, it is quite ungentlemanly of you to ask a lady for something…
I: Ah. Well uh, Well how about that hair of yours? I must say, it’s gorgeous and definitely not something you see everyday! It’s always in a new and different style everytime I see it!
L: Thank you, I try to keep it nice. I actually have many different wigs. They’re all supposed to mimic human hair, but it was too difficult to attempt to get human donors for my wigs. And the ones who did donate, well their hair wasn’t…. up to standards let’s just say.
I: Oh, so what is your hair made out of?
L: It’s actually made out of thread. It’s a lot of strings all made to look and mimic human hair but it’s done it’s job, wouldn’t you say?
I: Wow! I would never have guessed!
L: Ah, I apologize but it seems I must go now. My father is here to take me back home
I: Wait! We aren’t even done with the intervie- Come back!!
-Interview End-

i really love dc x dp tbh but i hate how so many fics end up making the batfam dumb as shit. and i don't mean in a "loveable goof" kind of way but in a genuine "these people don't have the skills or intelligence to be heroes" kind of way. which is just antithetical to their entire thing
sometimes it's because the writer just genuinely doesn't know anything about the batfam or what they've been through so they come across as idiots. and other times it's because the writer is writing op ghost king danny or just generally op danny and they genuinely think he could outsmart or beat them. more often than not, it's a combination of the two.
it's just so sad. like not only is it disrespectul to the batfam, essentially getting rid of all the skills and experience they have just to prop up danny, but it also makes things a lot more boring imo. don't get me wrong, i don't mind the occasional "main character is super op" kind of story, but it's boring when like 70% of fics are like that and there's no real challenge or obstacle for him. part of why the show danny phantom was so fun was that it was exciting and chair gripping to see danny have to deal with his new ghost powers, figuring out how to deal with ghost attacks or vlad, and dealing with school and his parents on top of that.
but often, dc x dp fics just,, get rid of any challenge for him. sure batman is a skilled detective but danny will always be able to trick him! sure cass has been trained since birth to read people's body language but this random ghost teen knows how to conceal and control everything!! yeah damian has also been trained since birth to fight and kill but this random guy from the midwest who just started fighting in his teens is so much better!!! like, alright. it's fun every now and then but it sucks when so much of the dc x dp content is just people acting like the batfam are the worst vigilantes/detectives in the world.
and honestly i still feel this way even with the ghost king danny fics because how? he's never had to deal with people obsessively reading his body language or reading between the lines. he's had to deal with hiding stuff sure but his parents aren't the most observant people - their whole deal was being neglectful. even as a ghost king, why would he know how to outsmart, take advantage of, or beat the batfam in any capacity when he would still mostly deal with ghosts. it's a completely different skill set here - one that he likely wouldn't be prepared for. it'd be fine if they at least attempted to explain why danny would have those skills (like league danny aus) but most of them don't.
and i'm not saying danny couldn't do it at all, especially if it's a ghost king au, but i'm just tired of seeing the batfam constantly downplayed in these fics Just to make danny look better, smarter, stronger, etc. ik most people in the fandom are just danny fans but it really shows with how they treat, characterize, and shit on the dc characters just to prop danny up. it also serves to occasionally make danny look like an asshole when he intentionally messes with them and basically commits psychological torture for a goof.

i've thought about it a bit (and i'm not trying to make a point, just talking through some observations) and it's interesting to compare and contrast how fire emblem awakening and fire emblem fates decided to handle the whole 'having the child characters be adults and interact with their parents and be roughly the same age as them' thing to allow the child characters to be playable units, and how fe awakening just. did it a lot better than fe fates.
i mean, awakening integrated it really well into the story, using the setup of lucina traveling back into the past and having the other child characters travel with her, not even all at once, mostly with the intention of fixing events and reconnecting with and possibly even saving their parents. It's an interesting setup, the child characters originating from a ruined world, many of them having had to watch their parents die, given a chance to meet those parents and see when the world was properly safe. it's different for each character, too, which is really cool, leveraging their differing relationships with their parents and the fact that they are in an unfamiliar world, as a lot of them are just... travelers, doing good and finding a place in this new world, while others seek out their parents. Each of them have different situations, and different relationships with their parents, and in turn, the parents have different relationships with their children, ranging from being happy to have this chance to meeting them to being skeptical of if this person actually is their future child. it's a well-done setup and it's executed really well and baked into the child character's supports and character really well.
in fates, it's... not explained? not surprisngly, with how hand-wavey the worldbuilding is, two characters marry and have a kid and then toss that kid in some weird... other world where time moves faster relative to the world the story happens in, so the child characters range from adolescents to adults and all have some flavor of daddy issues or just. are happy to see their parents at all since it was less a matter of their parents are dead and more their parents kind of. ditched them and let them grow up in some weird other world seperate from them? it's not explained and just results in half of the child characters having very similar parental issues or just being generally happy to see their parents, nothing all too complicated, but the presentation and story integration is. weak at best.
(i also can't help but feel like that in your first time through fe awakening it's a lot harder to tell that the secondary parent's support dialogue with the kids is just standard dialogue that is used for all secondary parent possibilities with that child, while i could tell a bit more in fe fates. in awakening, the dialogue was fairly general and sometimes vague enough to allow for the secondary parent's personalities, and i think both games alter some of that general dialoge to match if that parent has a specific way of talking, while in fates, a lot of it hinged on the secondary parent (more often than not hte mother) being strangely domestic (lots of mentioned of like. the child being home for dinner or the mother being a support or smth) to the point where it would clash with the character's actual personality. i mean, it's not flawless in awakening either, but it's just a lot shakier in fates, in my opinion)
