Even
(Hazbin Rozie x soft!male reader.)
No warnings (not proof read)
You tried to tiptoe as quietly as possible through your and your wives house. You didn't know that the trail of blood you were leaving would give you away in the morning anyways.
"You're home late" you heard the lovely voice of your dear wife while she sat on the sofa and turned on the light on the small table besides it.
You exhaled through your nose.
"Yeaahhh..." was all you could get out of
When Rosie took in your form more carefully she saw the beaten state you were in.
"Oh dear, what happened to you" she sounded more sympathetic now and rushed to your side to help you sit down
"Hahh, you should see the other guy...he got out without a scratch it was honestly pretty impressive" you said with honest astonishment.
You have been getting into fights at bars lately...a lot. Why? Well the answer was rather easy really, your wife was the Rosie. A powerful overlord in hell and leader of cannibal town. She was powerful, strong, cunning, smart and most of all feared because of those qualities.
And you...well, you weren't weak not by any means but you were just...soft, to put it lightly. While other boys fought you enjoyed chasing a butterfly. You were a very kind soul and opted to see the good in people. You were a fallen angel, after all.
When you met Rosie you were the same dork you are now, you just liked to draw and she is very beautiful so you asked if you could draw her. Thats how you two met 10 years ago.
As time passed by, you fell in love with her, however you would have never guessed that a powerful woman like herself would fall for someone like you. Alas she did and after some time being together you got married.
Since Rosie was quite the public figure, people, of course, knew about your engagement and they had their own opinions, mostly bad ones.
The people of cannibal town thought Rosie deserved someone tough, not to protect her she can do that to, but to match her, to be her equal.
And you thought so too. It was a true wonder why she was still with you, really.
"(Y/N)"
The powerful voice of your beloved got you out of your thoughts.
"*sigh* are you thinking about what others are saying again?" She questioned looking at you sadly.
You looked away ashamed.
"My love" she slowly put her hand on your cheek and made you look at her.
"I have told you countless times but I wont stop until you get it into your head. I.Love.You their opinions do not matter, especially when they dont know you like I do, for if they did they would know that you have the strongest heart I have ever witnessed, you might not like fights and blood spill but I know for a fact that when its really needed you will step up, and thats what really matters." She smiled at you kindly.
"Also, I like violence plenty so we make the perfect pair" she grinned at you manically.
You really didn't know how you got so lucky as to have such an amazing wife. You let out a chuckle and kissed her.
"Thank you" you smiled lightly
"Of course dear, now go wash up and lets go to bed I'm tired" she said exhausted while she stood up and walked to your shared bedroom.
You smiled to yourself, sure you weren't a big fan of violence but you hat a cannibal as a wife, you guys kinda evened each other out.

A Good Liar
Shanks x gender neutral reader. Platonic. 744 words. 'thought' "speech"
You and Shanks walk through town, you’re lesser known so you don’t have to wear any disguises but Shanks is wearing a cloak to avoid anything happening. A fight isn’t a problem, but it’s a bother. He puts the hood down to let his hair air out, it’s humid so it’s a bit suffocating having it on. When he’s airing it out a civilian notices. Shanks looks at them and they slowly pull out a transponder snail, before your captain can knock them out in public you stop him and walk to the person. “Noticed you saw us.” You say and they nervously put their hands up. “Relax, this happens kinda often, just came to clear things up. You think he’s Red-Haired Shanks, yeah?” You point back at Red-Haired Shanks who keeps a straight face watching you.
“No I didn’t- I mean-”
“No it’s fine, but he isn't. Sorry for the confusion, that’s why he usually wears the hood when he’s out. It’s easier than having to explain it to every person who misunderstands. The civilian looks confused, looking to Shanks who quickly changes his expression from also confused to a nervous smile while putting his hood back up.
“Huh? Not him?”
“Yeah my friend gets confused for him kinda often, the Marines have been starting to get kinda pissed off since they keep getting called for false alarms. It’s kind of a shit coincidence they look alike, especially since he lost an arm during a construction accident years ago even before Red Hair lost his arm.” Shanks stares at you as you speak, trying to keep his expression while he watches you shamelessly lie to this person.
“But the scar, and the facial hair?” You only take a split second before coming up with more.
“Ah, man.” You put a hand to your head like you’re annoyed. “Sorry, it's not your fault. He keeps his facial hair like that because it looks nice, I mean Shanks kinda has the attractive ruggish look yeah, though would be better if he weren’t a criminal doppelganger of my friend. For the scar, well look closer.” You pull his hood down and the civilian puts his transponder snail away. “Hair’s a bit more orangey, and his scar’s on the wrong eye.” Shanks’s hair just looks like that from the afternoon sun, and the scar part is just a straight up lie. However, memories can be slightly altered and the person starts to look unsure.
“True, Red Hair is said to have completely red hair…” They stare at Shanks who’s biting the inside of his cheek to stop a smile.
“It is. You can call Marines if you want but they’re not gonna do anything except ruin me and my friend’s outing and probably yell at you.” You say, the civilian looking unsure.
“It is on the wrong eye..” Gaslighting works wonders, especially with fear of being wrong.
‘They bought that!?’ Shanks almost widens his eyes but keeps it in.
“Looks older too.” They add.
‘Ouch.’ Shanks closes his eyes in pain.
“Shoot, I’m really sorry.” You did it, they apologize and you pat the person’s back while looking into their eyes.
“It’s okay, I just don’t like wasting the Marines’ time nor do I want to get you in trouble.” You say, having a sympathetic look on your face like you actually care. The person nods and you motion for Shanks to put his hood back up, which he does. After that you share a few pleasantries, joking about the “first few times” your friend got “mistaken” as Shanks. Charismatic conversation and a few words from Shanks with him changing his voice a bit is all it takes until you two leave completely safe. Once you two get somewhere more private Shanks puts a hand on his face and crouches down, bursting out into laughter. You’re shameless, absolutely and utterly shameless.
“Construction accident? O-On the wrong eye?” Your captain stutters in between laughs as you smile.
“Hey, it was for the greater good. Aren’t you glad I'm good at improvising.”
“Improvising my ass, you’re a straight up liar!” He manages to stand back up straight, still cracking up a bit as he wipes a tear from his eye.
“We’re leaving this place tomorrow morning anyway, doesn’t matter.” You say with a shrug.
“Good to have you on my side, I’m never playing poker with you again.” He pats you on the back.
“Darn.” You snap your fingers.

your angst is so UGHHHHH AMAZING. im literally reading every single thing on your masterlist. i need more hobie hurt/comfort or miguel or anyone actually idc who it is i just love your writingggg. maybe like they’ve had a bad day and reader tries to help but instead they get annoyed and say sum ab then being annoying n never shutting up and reader gets quiet after and stuff. although i’ll literally read anything you put out thank you!!!
Request: Out of Line [Hobie]
Hobie x GN!Reader
—> [Miguel’s Version]
Warnings: Angst, yelling, insults, sad reader, comforting, crying, cursing
A/n: Such kind praise anon literally tysm. I love writing angst, it’s just fun to make characters suffer :) but yes! This idea is so good. I also made one for Miguel. enjoy meine Lieben!
You were sat next to Hobie on the couch, an arm wrapped around his shoulder while the other sat on his thigh. Your gaze sympathetic and kind as you looked at your boyfriend, body slumped over from exhaustion and disappointment. His elbows were resting on his knees, head resting on his hands as he was lost in his thoughts, still frustrated from todays mission.
Once he entered and slammed the door, you know the mission went wrong. He had been unexpectedly pulled away that afternoon when Miguel said it was an emergency. Hobie left with a smile and kiss goodbye… only to return with a grimace and a set of gritted teeth.
The only thing he told you was that he was responsible for losing sight of the anomaly and Miguel gave him an earful for it.
So there you were, comforting and reassuring your boyfriend with your words, throwing praises onto him like a crazed fan girl. “You are absolutely phenomenal Hobie. Don’t ever question that. No matter how much Miguel scolds you or criticizes you, you are an amazing part of the team that Miguel is lucky to have” you wouldn’t stop.
In your mind you saw that as a good thing… that Hobie would appreciate how you showered him with affection, but truly it was getting on his nerves. Wishing he could’ve just come home and forgotten all about Miguel and the mission, but no… now he had to hear about it at home too.
“You’re an amazing spider-man, one of the best that spider society has! Remember when you took care of that prowler anomaly single handedly? Or that green goblin anomaly from last week? Miguel didn’t seem to thank you for that if I remember! Now he suddenly decides to get up in your business?!” With each word you were giving him a soft caress on his shoulder or gently shaking his thigh.
His shoulder tensed under your hand, you thought it was because of an injury but if you only knew what really had him so irritated. His eyes were clenching shut, trying to fight the part of him that calls your voice annoying and yells at him to tell you to shut up… because he knows you’re trying, and usually he loves it! Oftentimes the only thing that helps is when your voice rambles on and envelops him like a warm embrace.
“Im gonna say it! Miguel should just keep his mouth shut I think! He-“ you were ready to say another whole soliloquy before Hobie’s voice cut through your own “No you should! I swear all you do is ramble and it drives me up the fucking wall. So just shut it!” His tone was laced with venom, every word a jab to your heart.
His head was turned to look at you with unforgiving eyes, burning with an unbridled rage that you knew wasn’t aimed at you… but it still felt personal. He lets out a light chuckle and when he smiles maliciously it, had your skin crawling. “After todays mission I want some peace and quiet. The sound of your voice is doing my head in. So do me a favor and take your own advice.”
You slowly pull away your hands, noticing how his body relaxes slightly when you do, which only made you more upset. “O-oh… okay” your voice was soft, but clearly shaken. After that you sit in silence for a few minutes, the only audible sound being Hobie sighing every once in a while.
Every second of silence is another second of you pondering and recounting what Hobie said to you. Playing it over in your head until you felt your eyes begin to gloss over. You take that as your sign to leave, clearing your throat and mumbling out a soft “i-I’ll see you upstairs” before leaving without another word.
Hobie stayed downstairs for a bit longer, organizing his thoughts and using the silence to quell his irritation. He then had the opportunity to think back on what he said to you. Cursing into his palm when he realizes just how harsh he got with you.
This wasn’t the first time… he often got harsh and lost his filter when he was in a bad mood; you always understood that. Whenever he’d go off on you, you never took it personally, understanding that he was in a bad mood or a poor state.
He’d always come up to you later and apologize for what he said, and he was lucky because you always understood and forgave him. Afterwards he’d cuddle up with you, telling you all about the terrible day he had or how horrible his mission went. You were always there to comfort him, listening to every word.
This time was different though. He didn’t just make an offhanded comment about how he wanted silence or how you weren’t helping, he made it personal by insulting your voice, a part of yourself that he usually loved and was now suddenly deeming as headache inducing.
When Hobie eventually went upstairs, he found you sitting in bed, back against the headboard, looking at your phone, not even sparing him a glance. He walked over and sat on the edge of his side of the bed, placing a hand on your thigh. You didn’t react so he took the time to apologize.
“Hey love… look, I’m sorry for what I said earlier. Todays mission just left me absolutely gutted and I just felt right shit. I shouldn’t have taken it out on you. It was just really rough and I fucked up bad” his hand absentmindedly caresses your thigh as he spoke. You didn’t move and just let out a hum in response.
He paused and hesitated before speaking “I-I’m really sorry…. I didn’t mean it love. You know that right?” he leans forward and goes to kiss your lips, you turn your head so kiss lands on your cheek instead. He was slightly surprised but more disappointed. He decided not to press the topic though. “alright… I’m gonna go get ready and I’ll be back” he says and walks off to the bathroom.
When he comes back out, you’d shifted to be lying on your side, back to him, as if you’re ready to go to sleep. As he gets into the bed behind you, he notices how your eyes are still open and you were just looking at your phone.
He leans over your figure “Love? A-are we not gonna cuddle?” his voice was soft, you could hear the slight pout in his voice. To his question you shake your head, he moved onto his side of the bed and positioned himself to sit against the headboard.
“Oh… can I tell you about my mission though?” you could hear the dejection in his tone but managed to brush it off. You shrug causing Hobie to hesitate, but after a pause he begins to tell you about the mission, going on and on, but never once do you react.
“And then, that prick just threw a sign at me! A goddamn sign, can you believe that?” He looked over at your figure waiting for a response, waiting for you to agree with him or encourage him to continue talking as you usually did, but you still don’t say a word.
He clears his throat at the silence “b-but it really hurt and my shoulders still sore because of it” he continued to complain hoping you’d break your vow of silence but he still got nothing. He can see you’re still awake which causes him to huff out in disappointment, a pout forming on his lips. He shifts on the bed and placed his chin to rest on your arm.
“Love? Why’d you go so quiet?” He watched your expression, it didn’t shift and you just continued to scroll through your phone. There was a pause and then he spoke again. “Was it because of what I said earlier?” You stop scrolling on your phone and he takes that as a sign that he guessed right.
“God… love I didn’t know it hurt you that bad. I’m really sorry. I shouldn’t have said it and I didn’t mean it. Not even the slightest bit” he wraps his arm around your waist trying to pull you back against his chest. Much to his relief you didn’t struggle or try to move away, allowing him to pull you against his chest.
“I love the sound of your voice, I look forward to hearing it after every mission. I was just really irritated and I snapped at you for no reason” you put your phone down but still don’t look or speak to him. He let out a soft sigh and the hand on your waist began to trace soft circles on your skin.
“I’ll keep apologizing as long as it takes for you to speak again. I miss your voice love. Please… even if it’s quiet? I wanna hear it” he placed a kiss on your shoulder, and kept it nuzzled against your arm as he waited patiently.
“You said it drives you up the wall…” a smile graced his lips as you finally spoke, it was a soft murmur but it was something. He places another kiss on your shoulder “Thats not true, I was being stupid. You have every right to be upset with me, it was a daft thing to say and I was being a proper prick” you hum softly in agreement, which he took as a sign of encouragement.
He continued to place kisses on your arm and shoulder “You agree don’t you? Hm?” He says and you shrug, a small smile beginning to appear on your lips. His arm wraps further around your waist, beginning to roll you onto your back as his playful kisses moved to your neck. “Cmon you can say it, I was being stupid, I was being a prick… go on” he had a smirk on his face as he kissed at your jaw.
You chuckle softly and then look into his eyes, a smile now settled on your lips. “You really were. The biggest prick I’ve ever met” you say and he pulls away and gives you a fake pout. “Ouch… now that hurts” you roll your eyes and he chuckles softly. He leans back down and begins to pepper kisses all over you face.
“I’m really sorry love” he says and pulls away to look at you with a gentle smile. You sigh out but smile at him. “I believe you” You shift slightly so you’re sitting back against the headboard “but what I can’t believe…” you begin to say and Hobie looks at you curiously.
“Is that that goddamn anomaly threw a sign at you?!” You say exaggerating your shock but loving the smile that it puts on Hobie’s face. “I know!” He say and moves to rest his head against your lap. Letting go of your waist and intertwining his hand with yours to wrap them around his shoulders.
For the rest of that night he recounted his mission to you, every small detail and every tiny slip up, but this time you actually reacted. And every time you spoke his heart sang at the sound of your voice.

The Turks - Context Clues (The Kids Are Alright)
@accala posted an excellent inquisitive post about the Turks here and their motivations and to add some The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story book context, imma leave this here. Couldn't find the quote I was looking for, but here's some things I found interesting. NOTE: I feel like Advent Children did the Turks a little dirty, but I really loved the banter as a kid. This book has some of the same campy shortcomings, but take it or leave it, here's what I found.
1.) The Healen Lodge from Advent Children was an R&R facility for Shinra, universally accepted as the worst one by employees. The Turks/Rufus chose it for its tactical advantages, but it also shows how far back on their heels they were. "The Shinra empire had ruled most of the world up until two short years ago, and it didn't sit right with Elena that the company president had to live in such a desolate place. Yes, medical treatment was available, security was way better away from the city, and the commute was only two hours by car; the staff could have had it much worse." - pg. 14
2.) The abandoned rec hall was being used by Shinra as a lab to convert SOLDIER stimulants into geostigma treatments. The project was Elena's idea, with the resulting medication being donated free of charge to city medical professionals and the WRO. (pp. 16-17)
3.) Reno & Rude were sent into the city to retrieve a stolen item from a teenager (read the book for details I'm too lazy to go into it), and when he started crying and shaking, Reno and Rude switched to a new script. "Aw, look. The kid's really scared." The redhead sounded sympathetic now. "That's what we came to do," the bald one pointed out. And: "Now, we put on our best tough-guys acts on the way over, so we can't just leave without roughing anyone up," said the redhead. "Our job is to teach a lesson to anyone who tries to mess with us." I was still scrambling for an explanation to give them. "Y-you mean, kill me?" was what came out instead. My voice even cracked for good measure. "That's one way to teach a lesson. But we're trying to strike a balance for Shinra, here. We want everyone to love us and maybe be a little bit scared. Killing you would have the opposite effect." (pg. 23) Reno opted to punch the kid in the face, then tell him to keep his chin up, so...balance? Sure. Shinra is, at this point, technically trying to figure out their PR while simultaneously leaning on old habits. Also, the kid calls Reno and Rude a knife and a fork and I thought that was funny.
4.) Reno is described as someone who looked like he 'turned delinquent as a teenager and never grew out of it, like those kids in the Sector Eight warehouses who I still hated and admired in equal measure.' (pg. 23)
5.) Elena roughs up one of the protagonists, but reins herself in when context is presented: She'd paid a visit intending to break Fabio's dominant arm, but when she saw him fight back to protect the child, she changed her plan. Her objective was to punish a thief, not deprive a child with geostigma of his only guardian. (pg. 47)
6.) Reno calls a doctor for the guy he roughed up. Kyrie nodded. "I figured, these guys must have phones, so I asked them to call Dr. Drake. 'Evan's in a bad way 'cause you guys beat him up,' I told them. And guess what? They said they don't know any Evan. So I lost it and said, 'Yeah, 'cause Evan's the one you whaled on when you mixed him up with Fabio. You owe him..... So then the redhead--his name's Reno--he called a doctor. Not Dr. Drake, he said, but a good one..." (pg. 55)
7.) Evan (the protagonist) is trying to work out who would be the easiest Turk to try to forge an alliance with and we get a glimpse of how the Turks are perceived by outsiders (Tseng is an unknown entity to Evan at this time): The most dangerous one was probably the lady Turk who went after Fabio. A close second would be the slab of muscle out there, Rude. Maybe the redhead Reno was more on our level. I thought back to my first impression of him--the grown-up teenage delinquent. Guys like that generally looked out for their own. A sense of solidarity. There had to be an angle I could work. (pg. 57)
8.) There's a whole scene where Evan and Kyrie try to ambush Rude. They choke him, break a chair over him, kick, scratch, the whole shebang and he just brushes himself off and manhandles them to a car (which made me laugh).
9.) Reno and Rude take the protagonists towards Healen in a truck and there's a few moments I found interesting. "So anyway..." Reno was looking at me in the rearview mirror. "Sorry about the shiner, dude. We totally did think you were Fabio. But y'know, I'm impressed you stayed mum and protected your buddy," Reno went on. "Even if you were about to piss your pants." (lol) Then, "Some of us have been slower to to adapt to the new way of doing things," Reno continued. "How many Turks are left?" asked Kyrie. "Can't tell you. That's Shinra's most closely guarded secret." "It's just you three, isn't it?" "Not telling." "But I'm right." "Yeah, you keep thinking that." (pg.63) Rude sleeps through the majority of the ride despite Reno trying to keep him awake. They talk quite a bit about Aerith, because Kyrie and Reno both knew her. Reno warns them not to get mixed up with Shinra's science department.
10.) Evan gets introduced to Rufus for the first time after believing the former president has been dead for two years and Tseng finally exists in this book for two seconds. "He's alive...?" Evan was still speaking to Reno. "I am. The decoy who took my place is not," Rufus replied. "You're a candidate for the position--and from what I can see, you'll do." Evan's jaw dropped, and he stared agape at Reno, then Rufus, then Tseng. Tseng looked down at the ground, trying to hide his laughter. Evan's description of Tseng: He looked like a Turk, too. The very definition of one, in fact. Reno and Rude both showed an awkward humanity--well, sporadically in the latter's case--but this guy was pure ice.
11.) An ill-conceived escape attempt by Evan and crew sees Rufus temporarily kidnapped, as Tseng and Elena are investigating an explosion. Reno and Rude try to stop it, but are ordered back. "Reno, stay back!" Reno obediently halted. I had expected to see fury in his eyes, but all I say was sorrow. Surprisingly, I felt a pang in my chest, too. But there was no other way. I pulled Kyrie's knife from my pocket and opened it--a sad, flimsy little blade, but it could still slice open a throat. "Hey, don't be stupid." I ignored Reno and held the knife to Rufus Shinra's neck. Then, "Reno, take Rude and check on the lab." Suddenly Rufus was giving orders. "Tell Tseng not to get involved here." "Wait, what? Boss, are you sure?!" "Don't worry. I'm as interested in staying alive as you are." Reno reluctantly descended the stairs, glancing over his shoulder almost every step. (pg. 77)
12.) Reno and Rude talk about family and have a lil tiff. "If I found out about a brother I'd never seen, I'd make way more of an effort than those two," Reno insisted. "That right?" Rude said. My colleagues are all I need. "You're not much into family, eh, Rude?" "I'm a Turk," Rude said flatly. "Coolheaded and cold-blooded." He turned and headed for the truck. "Hey, Rude. You pissed at me?" Reno called, an unabashed whine. "C'mon, man. You can't cold-zone me now. Tseng and Elena aren't answering my calls, and the boss just tells me to finish the monument. I know they're starting something awesome without us. We're outcasts! Me and you, you and me. If we don't stick together, then what?" Rude looked back. "Tseng isn't answering calls?" (pg. 94) Reno goes off several times throughout this book about how he'd act if he got the chance to meet family, which makes me wonder about him. "So how'd it feel, meeting your brother?" "I don't think it's sunk in yet." "Well, it's a process, I guess," said Reno. "But you gotta visit once in a while, you know? Then you'll get to figure each other out. Break the ice." (pg. 97)
13.) Reno and Rude are actually partially responsible for the monument in the city. This lil bit kinda gives weight to how long they've been in Shinra. Evan was one of those types who wasn't quite grounded in reality but was full of bravado. A show-off. A scared kid determined to buck people's expectations by pretending he had no fear. And if he kept it up, he was gonna do something stupid enough to get himself killed. Both Reno and Rude had known too many kids like that, from rookie Turks to infantrymen to SOLDIER operatives wet behind the ears from mako infusion tanks.
14.) Reno & Rude get amused by Kyrie treating them like they're not scary. The concern over redemption makes an appearance. "Now what?" Rude stepped closer from his vantage point. Apparently, he'd been watching the whole time. He was pretending he didn't care, but inwardly, Reno was convinced, Rude was intrigued by every act of the farce. Which only made the whole thing funnier. "She said she's hungry," said Reno. "So she's gonna grab something to eat." "It's like she's never heard of the Turks. It's almost refreshing," Rude remarked. So this is what happens when Shinra wins hearts and minds. Reno chuckled again but then remembered that the girl was still afraid of them. He'd seen the goosebumps on her arms. Her toothless threats were her way of gauging the danger he and Rude presented. Evan might trust them, but not Kyrie. Despite what Rude said, she knew what they were and what they were capable of. "You know," said Rude. "She reminds me of Aerith." "Yeah, I was thinkin' that too." Maybe helping them out will redeem us, at least a little bit, he thought. A guy can hope. (pg. 106)
15.) Shinra's resources are thin...and that chopper that ate it in AC was one of the last ones left (cue gross sobbing because in the words of a certain Puppy, Shinra makes good stuff). No one knew exactly how many helicopters the Shinra Company used to have. Within a half a year of Meteorfall, many of them had been looted. Accidents, mechanicals, and other circumstances had taken out others, and now Rufus Shinra and the Turks were left with only three. But even with so few, it was a constant battle to keep them in working order. Also, Rude has mechanical experience and is the one on repairs.
16.) A civilian points out the flaws in Reno's hopes for the future of the Turks. "Well, to be honest, maybe my opinion of you guys is changin'." Doyle looked at Reno again with a level stare. "You're up to better things." Reno couldn't help averting his eyes. Unless it came from a fellow Turk, approval tended to make him uncomfortable. "The monument and the medicine are only one step, you know. Just wait. It might take a while, but Shinra's gonna get off the ground again. Rise again, you hear?" That general idea had been floating around in his head for some time. This was the first time he'd said it aloud. "How?" Doyle scowled, his thick eyebrows lowering. Reno cursed himself for the thoughtless comment. "Can't tell you." "Yeah, I figured. But no one is going to let a violent regime lord it over them again. Not anymore. You tell your president that."
17.) Tseng and Elena bring up the notion of inviting old Turks back into the fold. "For any one person, finding it (Jenova's head) may well seem like a futile task. But there is still a nonzero chance. Either way, staying in contact with our agents and meeting regularly are essential to maintaining organizational cohesion." " But how many...?" Elena glanced around and spoke in a stage whisper. "How many former Turks can we expect to help us?" In his mind, Tseng saw the faces of the old Turks, his former subordinates. Of those, he had made contact with-- They get interrupted and Elena rushes off to investigate something. Tseng watched his operative go with a wry smile. Below the hem of her sundress, old scars marked her legs. Once you joined the Turks, you were in for life. Even those who tried to get out and build new lives could be summoned back with a single phone call. Maybe it was a cruel call to make, Tseng thought. and he sighed.
18.) Reno & Rude defy a direct order from Tseng. "Dumbass," Reno muttered. "What are you waiting for? Engage!" Tseng's command rang from the speakers. "Evan's down there," Rude answered in Reno's stead. "He's already done for," said Tseng. "Fire." "No can do," said Reno. "Reno." Tseng made his name a sharp rebuke. "He's our friend." "Fine. Let me briefly explain--" Tseng's voice abruptly cut out. "Radio trouble," Rude mumbled, his hand drifting away from the radio's master switch.
There are a lot of quirky, funny, violent, or neato moments I didn't list, so check out the book if you want more insight. Hope this gave you some headcanon fodder.

Scout acts like he isn't afraid of needles himself and says they're not that bad, but in reality he has a fear of them too. So, he isn't too confused about his S/o's phobia.
Distracts his S/o by doing tricks and small stunts to get their mind off of the fact that they're getting a shot. Even if it rarely works or doesn't work at all, Scout doesn't give up on his S/o.
If they freak out, Scout freaks out too and there's not a chance either of them calm down. After a single appointment, Scout completely understands just how much his S/o is freaked out by needles. Also, they both go out to get something to eat to put the appointment behind them.
Soldier
Doesn't really understand why his S/o is so afraid of needles, like, not at all. He's seen and experienced way worse than a single, little prick to the skin and he doesn't understand what his S/o finds so scary in it.
Even if Soldier doesn't understand their fear, he still comes to appointments at their request. While he remains non-bothered, his S/o internally worries.
When Soldier actually sees how afraid his S/o is and how they cling to him for dear life, he goes wild and throws away and destroys all needles on sight.
Pyro
Is afraid of needles too, though not as much as their S/o. Pyro doesn't completely freak out, they're just a bit nervous. So when their S/o tells them they have a phobia of needles, they feel very sympathetic.
They try gifting their S/o a plush toy they can hold while getting a shot, maybe something to squeeze or pet while trying to stay calm. Sometimes that plush can be Pyro! They're more than happy to see their S/o overcome their anxiety even a little bit for the better good.
Pyro even tries to motivate their S/o by sucking up their own fear of getting shots and try to show that it's not so bad. Doesn't matter if it actually encourages their S/o or not, they're not forcing them to at all.
Demoman
Not a big fan of needles either. Though it's just a feeling of uneasy-ness and he shies away from the doctor if he needs to get a shot. So, he understands his S/o's fear of needles.
Demo might try to reason with the doctor if there's any way for him to hold his S/o still as they get their shot. It's all for their better health, even though he does feel a bit bad about restraining his S/o.
Demo praises his S/o and lets them know how proud he is of them after an appointment. All he wants to see is his S/o trying to live peacefully with their phobia and even overcome it a tiny bit, so he'll make sure he helps them in that journey.
Heavy
A big, tough man like him can't understand why his S/o is scared of needles which are just quick little pokes in their skin to make them feel better.
Heavy has to hold his S/o in a bear hug every time they go to a doctor's or Medic's office, mainly to catch them if they faint and to hold them still if a fight response gets triggered. They're clinging onto him like their life depends on it.
If his S/o freaks out, Heavy tries to keep them still with his strength, but secretly feels guilty about it. To try to calm them down to endure the prick to their skin, he speaks to them in Russian in a comforting voice to divert their attention.
Engineer
It takes a little while for Engineer to understand his S/o's fear of needles because he's a practical man, but he gets there.
He tries to reason with his S/o, trying to tell them that it's just to make them feel better but he eventually understands it's something more than just a fear.
If he's allowed, he'll hold his S/o's hand to keep them calm when they get a shot. Engie really only understands how bad his S/o's phobia is when he has to handle them as they're hyperventilating and panicking.
Medic
He doesn't know why his S/o freezes up and doesn't respond to him when they stumble into his lab. He stares at them in confusion before realizing what he has on a stool right next to him.
Medic scurries to hide them in a cabinet and welcomes his S/o in. If they've gone into a panicked state, he tries his best to calm them down
If his S/o wants to spend time with him but he's performing a surgery and needs to use a needle, he motions with his hand for his S/o to look away. Though they can still get a bit nervous.
Overall, it's made him dapper up his lab for his S/o to not freak out. Maybe he understands and doesn't understand his S/o's fear of needles at the same time because "It's just a little prick", but he tries, that's what matters.
Sniper
Sniper kind of understands his S/o's fear of needles because he's not the biggest fan of them either. Not to the point of being terrified but more like a slightly displeased feeling of when he needs a shot.
Will come to his S/o's appointments just to make them feel more safe. Sniper can only pull them closer to himself when they grip his forearm.
Awkwardly fumbles when his S/o actually freaks out and tries to calm them down by soothing them and petting their scalp. If he needs to, he will hold his S/o so they can get their shot.
Spy
Spy mostly understands why they're afraid, he's sort of the most understanding too, because he knows phobias can't easy to overcome and can't be controlled at times.
Promises his S/o to give them something nice like chocolates and stuff after an appointment. Basically, if his S/o tries to overcome their anxiety, even if it's just them shaking but not completely freaking out, he congratulates them and praises them that they tried to do something about their phobia.
If his S/o starts to panic because they've been exposed to needles, Spy will be quick to react and will try to calm them down the best way he can. He mainly talks French to them in a soothing voice to try to calm them down and reason with them.

I'm really disturbed by the fact that I'm seeing people post S2ep8 of IWTV still talking about Lestat as an abuser and Louis as a victim, period end of conversation.
Because I feel like we are explicitly told in ep7 and 8 that that is not the case but some people haven't adjusted their thoughts yet.
Now this is a show explicitly about the unreliability of personal accounts and what we see on screen is often proven not to be how things happen. So, obviously things are always up for debate. But.
We are shown the extended scene of what happened before Lestat flew Louis up into the sky to drop him. In S1 we saw that scene from Claudia's perspective, and she just heard crashing and shouting, and then saw Louis thrown through a wall by Lestat before the whole flight thing.
Ep 7 we are shown Lestat's version of events which are Louis physically and verbally attacking him over and over, slamming Lestat into things, while Lestat begs him to stop, warning him that he will fight back and he's afraid of hurting Louis, and Louis merely eggs him on. Then we get Lestat turning the tables and throwing Louis through a wall.
Now, obviously this is Lestat's version and probably a bit biased to be sympathetic to him. But Louis admits Lestat's version of Claudia's turning is the more correct one than his account and he admits to portraying Lestat intentionally as a villain in the interview, so...well I think the show is telling us that our impression from S1 is at least not the whole story.
Ep 8 underlines this with the scene with Louis and Lestat when Louis apologizes for the way he acted to Lestat in the past, saying "I tried to make nights awful with you. I wanted you to suffer."
We also see him throw Armand into the wall in this episode, which I get people feel Armand deserved, but I feel like the conversation around that has been weird as well. Like, people talk about that being a sign that Louis is stronger than Armand, as if physical violence is impossible from someone who is weaker than their victim. But this is also another instance of Louis using physical violence against his partner when (justifiably) angry.
Look, abusive relationships are complicated. Mutually toxic ones even more so. Reactive abuse is a thing, when an initial victim becomes violent or abusive in response to abuse they've received. It's complicated, and I speak from personal experience.
But I very much feel like the show is SCREAMING at the audience that things are not simple and that no one in this scenario is blameless, ESPECIALLY not Louis. He's not blameless in the case of Claudia. He's not blameless in the destruction of his relationship with Lestat. He's not blameless in his relationship with Armand, for all it's built on a lie, because he entered it to fucking make Lestat mad for god's sake and that's a terrible foundation for a relationship.
Raglan James says Louis is the one to really be afraid of. Louis at the end of the season with his "I own the night" speech. Much of the second half of S2 is ABOUT this.
The entire heartbreaking scene with Lestat at the end is Louis owning his part of the responsibility, and that's huge. Lestat accepted his responsibility and apologized on stage in Paris, and now Louis is as well.
So yeah, I think some people need to rethink their attitudes when they call Lestat Louis's abuser and Louis a battered wife. I read that and I go wait, we're not gonna interrogate that at all?
I of course feel at this point I have to put in a bunch of disclaimers about how this is not an anti-Louis post or trying to excuse the violence done by Lestat, blah blah but honestly some people who can only see things in terms of Good and Evil and Guilty and Innocent are never going to appreciate that kind of thing anyway. I just don't know why those people are watching this show, which is entirely about nuance and complicated interpersonal relations that are messy and resist easy analysis, BY DESIGN.
#iwtv#iwtv amc#iwtv meta#my meta#iwtv spoilers#in other words I'm sorry but Louis is not your uwu soft boi#honestly I hope all the people who said they'd never watch a Lestat centered show#actually stick by their word now#like I'm sorry you can't enjoy deeply flawed characters but please let the rest of us gorge on this feast

The Life of Cironus
Up next, we are sharing some insight on Cironus and what makes him tick. This one's a bit lengthy, fair warning! Everything is under a cut!
If you're ready...LET'S GO!!
Cironus the Bard the initial post that inspired all this
Every Zorca enjoys a bit of singing and revelry. In the face of extinction, what can one do but try and laugh in its face? Cironus is this positivity in physical form, but something about the way he carries himself tends to upset the council of his pod.
Bards are trained to sing the old hymns and work to add new ones to the archives. You won’t find anyone who’d say Cironus couldn’t sing, or play well. But nothing he creates matches the usual style of the ancestors. Some might say his passion is too loud. Cironus has never figured out what it was exactly they find unappealing, as the elders never elaborate. But the elder bards refuse to take him on as an apprentice. His grandmother seems to encourage this choice (much to the chagrin of his mother who feels she has no choice but to follow her wishes)
He does his best to shrug off this exclusion and finds time in private to practice his music. When he’s away from the elders’ judging eyes, Cironus finds he can truly be himself by expressing all his feelings through the songs he writes and sings.
🌳 Family and Relationships 🌳
As one of the middle children of his immediate family, it's easy for everyone to ignore him. He doesn’t have the expectations that are pressed on Sardon, the responsibilities Kaska has taken on, or the doting attention given to young Kaso. But Cironus was raised to be a kind-hearted boy, and he's always wanted to do his part to help the pod by becoming a bard.
The Grandmother Matriarch - Cironus respects and loves his grandmother, even though the latter can come at an emotional price. She has to make difficult decisions, and some members are treated differently depending on who is highest or lowest on the family hierarchy. The Matriarch is loving, stubborn, harsh, protective. One can understand the complexity of it all and still be frustrated. Cironus’ relationship with his grandmother changed when his particular talents started growing. There’s something she knows, and has decided neglect over nurture will solve this “issue.”
Lurona lecturing Sardon (art by @werewolfsister!)
His Mother, Lurona - A middle child herself, she faces a different kind of pressure from her mother, the Matriarch. Among her sisters she is the most successful at raising healthy children, so she is expected to put the pressure on them to be good examples for the pod. Lurona is constantly pushing Sardon to have children, and the same behavior pushed her oldest daughter past the brink that caused her to permanently leave the pod. Lurona doesn’t want to ruin her relationship with her children, but she doesn’t know anything else other than what her own mother taught her. And the Matriarch’s hovering presence doesn’t give her time to be honest with her kids and tell them what they should really do.
Sardon - The first born of the family, Lurona almost lost him while she was pregnant. He was born small, weak and was constantly sick. Because of this she was extremely protective of him and worked hard to keep him fed. Her actions paid off, as Sardon became one of the larger members of the group and the fiercest. He’s scarred from years of fighting to earn his place among other zorca his age, and from his job as a monster hunter. He looks imposing but like Cironus, he was brought up to be a good-natured boy. His days of being bullied also taught him to be sympathetic and protective toward others smaller than he is.
He doesn’t know the full story about their missing sister, but it’s why he’s supportive of his other siblings. Sardon feels the elders’ behavior towards Cironus is unfair but since he doesn’t have a place to say so he encourages his brother to keep being as loud as he wants. Kaska has her own issues that Sardon has suspected and he has become an outlet for her when she needs to vent. And like everyone else, he watches out for Kaso, and probably spoils him more than others do, allowing him to venture off with him and Cironus when he’s not supposed to.
Kaska - She is Lurona’s only daughter. It's not known if her missing sister is dead or not, and the child born before Kaso was lost at birth. There was a lot of pressure on Kaska when she reached maturity and became another matriarch candidate. In an attempt to shield Kaska from the Matriarch's influence, Lurona encouraged Kaska to become a diplomat which allowed her more freedom to leave the pod. She is the human equivalent of a teenager, and she struggles with being a people-pleaser and overachiever. Kaska wants to make her mother and grandmother proud, and struggles with guilt whenever she does anything slightly rebellious.
Cironus is the devil on her shoulder, and Sardon is the devil hiding his horns, both finding reasons for her to rebel. Regardless, she confides in them often with her own frustrations as a diplomat or when she thinks criticism from her elders was unfair. Kaska finds she can’t be herself around the elders but her brothers give her that freedom. It’s a fine line she tries to walk; being the proper little daughter, but finding time to figure herself out that doesn’t revolve around family politics.
Kaso in the kelp forests with Sona and Quita (Owned/created by @werewolfsister and @junco8 art by @werewolfsister!)
Kaso - The youngest and last of Lurona’s children. As one of the few children born into the pod, Kaso is spoiled and doted on constantly. He is forward, overly friendly and naive because of this. Kaso has experienced none of the dangers outside his pod or encountered people with ill intentions. His family tries to keep it that way but at the same time teach him kindness and some common sense.
Sardon and Cironus spoil him in their own way, by allowing him to tag along when they venture out. He's never subjected to the kinds of stunts his older brothers used to do in their youth, but there are stories he promises he won't tell their mother.
Link, and Zelda
Cironus came upon Link and Zelda by chance when they were traveling and doing surveys across Hyrule. Zelda expressed interest in learning about his people but both agreed that expedition would have to be put on hold as the kingdom's restoration took precedence.
He met Link again during the events of The Upheaval and Ganondorf’s return. For his own reasons, Cironus joined Link on his quest, and traveled around Hyrule, offering the swordsman support through his music.
Like other people of Hyrule, Cironus has a high opinion about Zelda. And he’s one of the few people who recognize Link on sight. Link may not be a verbal person but due to certain powers of insight, Cironus is able to pick up on what they want to convey.
Sidon and Yona
Some time after the events of BotW but years before the Upheaval, Cironus met Yona and the two struck up a friendship that eventually developed into something more. Later on, he was introduced to Sidon and the three formed a polycule. It was a relationship outside his family that allowed Cironus to feel safe enough to be himself, and in the years he was able to grow in confidence thanks to their support.
They were aware of the nomadic nature of the family so Cironus couldn’t spend time with them on a regular basis, but their reunions were always joyful come spring and summer. During his travels with Link he was able to reunite with them and help expel the sludge from Zora’s Domain. The betrothal of Sidon and Yona came as a surprise but it was nothing that would put a damper on their relationship.
However, when his elders found out they sought to put an end to it. Not wanting their family to do anything to tarnish their budding alliance with the Domain, the council told Cironus to end his visits. In their eyes, the new king and queen of Zora’s Domain did not have time to “play” with someone as irresponsible and bumbling as Cironus. Reluctantly, Cironus did as he was told, and told Yona and Sidon he had "to move on” and left the Domain before they could get a word in edgewise. Since then, Cironus refuses to enter the main area of the Domain.
🔎 Would you like to know more? 🔎
• Subjects of interest! Music is his biggest interest, of course! When he was younger, he had the privilege to see the Indigo-Go’s live and music has been his passion ever since. He enjoys listening and studying other songs/tunes and finding ways to add that to his style of play. He’s practiced on every instrument he can get his hands on! Cironus loves having jam sessions with other musicians, he loves creating/joining in a beautiful harmony!
His love for music also branches into the history of Bards and their craft, along with the songs of their past. Cironus loves history, be it their own, or the stories of other cultures! He’s very inquisitive but he never has the chance to explore too far inland to get a glimpse of worlds past the shoreline.
Food seems obvious, but zorca don’t have the luxury of cooked meals. So he’s fascinated by recipes others have created, and the process of how they’re made. You put these ingredients together to make bread? Amazing! Mix all these together and you get a delicious sauce? AWESOME! A cooked fish tastes better and can be more nutritious with these added elements? That’s INCREDIBLE!!!
• Cironus’ nickname
When he was a child, his mother would jokingly and lovingly call him “Sir” short for Cironus when he asked for things. He wasn’t demanding but he did get a kick out of how it sounded, like his mother was deferring to his “authority.”
“Ma can we go here?” “Yes, Sir!” “HEEE!!”
His brother uses the name in a more teasing manner. When Cironus does get demanding, or nit picky about something, Sardon will call him “Sir” to remind him they’re not in a social situation where his behavior might be seen as appropriate.
In silly situations when they’re plotting devious shenanigans, Kaska will salute and say “Yes, Sir!”
• What makes him happy?
The whimsical answer is music, food, and having the opportunity to party. He showcases “typical” behavior most people see zorca exhibit from a surface level.
The deeper, secret desire is the freedom to be himself and to share the healing power of his music to others. His family’s smiles hide the family drama of their politics and he and his siblings are caught in the middle. Cironus’ talents are not appreciated, or ignored and it leaves him frustrated because he has so many feelings he wants to let out, which he does through his music. When he’s away from his pod he briefly has this freedom, but at the cost of being alone.
He’s learning what his abilities can do, and there is an indescribable joy when he can share it.
So let me be enemy to the noose and the fading willLet me be open armsTell the living world I am grateful stillLet me be musicAnd let me be the joyful sound
• How do they handle anger?
Cironus struggles with expressing in plain words how he feels. But he wears his heart on his sleeve so his expression is hint enough. He knows a big angry zorca may look intimidating so he tries to avoid conflict and will step away from whoever upset him. He’s not like his brother who can be confrontational, or uses physical means to let out steam.
Like any other feeling he has, he’ll let it out through his music. You’ll find him on a secluded beach shredding out a tune to match what he feels.
His personal beliefs
Cironus believes in generosity, compassion and family. Zorca follow these and work to keep a close community otherwise they cannot survive. He will treat those outside his pod in the same way unless they give a reason why he shouldn’t (and you gotta try really hard to piss him off).
He’s generous with his time, his music and food. He has deep empathy for others and is compassionate for those who struggle with a lack of community or family. These are things he will gladly give with the other person’s consent.
• Strengths and Weaknesses
Physically he’s in peak condition. Cironus is round, but he is solid muscle, and his layers of fat make him impervious to the biting cold and lightning. He can use his whale-tooth guitar as a blunt force instrument, and his voice can shatter rock. He has high stamina and speed when he’s in the water, and he’s a powerful jumper both in water and on land.
His unending optimism will either annoy the hell out of you till you leave, or you’re eventually infected with the idea that life is worth living. His Songs of Healing will cure the ache of one's heart, emotionally and physically. And in rarer cases – if one has it hidden in their hearts – he can bring out a Song of Awakening which inspires an individual and helps them reach a new level of potential.
The Ballad of the Wind Fish drains him each time he creates a Song of Healing or Awakening, and it may take a few days till he’s fully recovered. He doesn’t do well in extreme heat especially if he doesn’t have water to help hydrate.
Cironus may be quick to come to the defense of others but he has a hard time speaking up for himself. If anyone has negative things to say about him, he just nods and leaves it alone. He says his skin is thick, and doesn’t need the support.
Coming Soon: The Ballad of the Wind Fish!

Honestly I'm afraid for Wrio if he and Arelechino talk it out. Remember during the archon quest with Freminet and Lynette? I don't think she'll appreciate how he treated her children.
But also YOUR BRAIN THO!!!
Im fully aware wrio doesnt like her. I mean even from a general perspective, sending children to fight your fights because you know the enemy wont kill children isnt really a good look. Especially knowing wrio himself is a victim of child trafficking.
But i would still like them to talk, i feel like they wouldve been atleast understanding of each other in another universe (coughHOYOFAIRcough)
There would be alot of charged dialogues and jabs, they wouldnt fight each other knowing how much political pawns they have on each other.
Arlecchino would definitely lean on 'you hurt my children' and 'you lost Tartaglia' if wrio ever tries anything. But they would both now that shes only saying that shit to look sympathetic, she sent those children to his fortress to SPY and STEAL information, not to mention Wrio purged the fortress of most if not all the fatui operatives there, who knows how many charges he has against the fatui at that point but yeah its not like he can directly put pressure on the Knave of all people since all he's offering is the crimes of pawns, while she can hold up Tartaglia over him.
Still HOW CAN YOU NOT LOOK AT ARLECCHINO AND SEE SHE HAS SIMILAR PASTS WITH WRIO. EXCEPT SHE WAS TAUGHT TO BE A MURDERER WHILE WRIO WAS TAUGHT TO BE CATTLE

Taylor Hebert AKA Skitter Propaganda Post
Do you know what you have to do to hurt someone in a fight if your whole power is “controls bugs?” It’s never pleasant. And this is a girl with an almost pathological drive to fight people theoretically much stronger than her. Much maggots-in-eyes and spiders-on-dicks ensue. Committed to being a hero initially, ends up becoming warlord of a whole city while defending it from super-poweeed spree killers, monstrous kaiju, and timeline-severing mobsters. Saves humanity through mass mind-control.
Shes so fucking morally ambiguous I don't even know where to start. She wanted to be a hero and then over the course of 1.7 million words she tricked me into thinking she was rational and ethically sound when she cut out someone's eyes, held someone's dying son hostage in front of them as leverage (she was killing the son), put maggots in someone else's eyes to eat them slowly, shot a fucking toddler with no hesitation, and she's such an amazing unreliable narrator that you root for her. She's genuinely so good at convincing herself that she's morally sound that she convinces the reader of it as well most of the time, but despite the atrocities (and there's a fucking ton of atrocities) she's genuinely a girl who wants to do good and help the world. She fights serial killers, provides food and water and shelter for people who need it, gets her back broken trying to save people, and is generally willing to do whatever it takes to help no matter what that entails. She's a girlboss who is terrifying and determined enough to kill god, she's willing to do anything for the greater good, she has a fucking orphanage as the bottom floor of her supervillain lair. She's so so complicated and such a twist of good and brutality and I cannot stress enough how compelling and morally ambiguous and girlboss she is. I have never seen a character who fits the title "morally ambiguous girlboss" more in my entire life and frankly I doubt I will, no one does it like her.
she went from aspiring hero > supervillain > warlord (still a supervillain) > hero > mind-controlling every cape in the multiverse to kill god. and she did kill god. so. girlboss. but on her first night out she used her bugs to bite a man's dick off. that man? trying to kill kids. those kids? teenage supervillains. she initially joined their teen supervillain group to betray them to the heroes, then joins for real. their boss kidnapped a preteen girl and got said girl addicted to drugs. he used a heist taylor was in as a distraction to kidnap the girl. taylor becomes a warlord and does all sorts of awful things to the other gangs in the city (including putting maggots in a guys eyes, and carving another man's eyes out (bug dick guy) (everything grew back)). the reason she did this? so she could kill her boss and free the preteen girl. She's taken over the city at this point, she's a warlord running a supervillain gang. what's she doing with this power? improving the city's infrastructure. she runs her territory like a panopticon, if anybody who can work isn't working they get the bugs. she's also running an orphanage out of her home. she decides to step down as warlord and join the heroes. while she's in custody, what does she do? that's right. kill superman via dry land drowning in bugs. now she's a superhero. she does stakeouts and pursues gangs to force their younger/more sympathetic members into superheroism. why? to fight the end of the world. the end of the world comes, god is killing every earth in the multiverse and things aren't looking good. what does taylor do? she asks a bio-kinetic who got sent to supervillain alcatraz for sister rape to give her on-the-spot brain surgery. this brain surgery lets her control any person within like 18 feet of her. she uses a portal guy to manage to ensnare every cape in the multiverse and unite them in her fight against god. One cape has a stress induced aneurysm. how do they ultimately defeat god? she makes large-scale replicas of his dead wife everywhere, making him so sad he becomes killable. girlboss. (sorry this was so long! i started and then just kept going. worm is 1.68 million words long and a lot happens in it)
Holy Shit. Holy SHIT dude. She rotted a man's dick off with spider venom. and then she did it again (it grew back). and then she cut his eyes out. this is the first guy she meets. she mutilates *so many* people. one time she withheld a life-saving epinephrine shot from a dying man (he was allergic to bees. she controls bees.) as extortion material. she shoots a baby (it was a mercy). She cut a girl in half (which was actually pretty high up there on the "most heroic things she did" list). She was Seinfeldian rivals with the most dangerous serial killer in existence, until she trapped him in Hell Forever. He's like still there by the end of the second book. she kills God by bullying him to death. All* of this was probably the best thing she could have done in the situation. the tagline of the book is "doing the wrong things for the right reasons." The worst thing she ever really did was to pretend she was straight though.
Did she kill an orphan? Yes. Did she put maggots into a man’s eyes? Yes. Did she do all of this while having intense homoerotic tension? Yes, and that is why she is a girlboss. She also killed Jesus

controversial opinions on characters? (specifically harry potter)
hi anon! thanks for the ask :)
hmmmm i have quite a few
i don't like luna lovegood. i think she's very irritating as a person and i would absolutely go batshit if i had to interact with her in real life. she is the wizard equivalent of a flat earther and an anti vaxxer, not a spiritual guide. hermione wasn't narrow minded for doubting her and xeno, they were the narrow minded ones for never questioning their beliefs despite the MOUNTAINS of evidence against them. rahhh she makes me so angry. (i hate that i have to specify, but this isn't misogynistic, i would feel the same if she was a guy.)
lucius malfoy is a relatively harmless guy, he's just slippery. he gives me such peacock vibes. he just wants to show off and look rich and not be questioned. (also he def dotes on narcissa and draco which is adorable to explore in fics <3 i think he would be an amazing father to a little girl and would have loved a daughter which i like exploring in my fics, but that's just a headcanon)
draco is the same way, i feel. iirc he's usually too scared to start shit unless crabbe and goyle are there, he just makes me laugh tbh. of course he does do and say some shitty things but i am just. unable to take him seriously. this may be because i haven't thought about his character in a while, but as of right now, i don't really see him as evil OR a sympathetic little boy. he's just. a little dude. (he is more dangerous than his father though, i'll give him that.) i mean if marauders stans are allowed to glorify james potter and put him on a pedestal, i'm allowed to have this.
percy weasley! i love percy so much, i think this is an uncommon opinion but i don't really know. i think he's amazing, i've already talked about him a lot on my blog so ye :)
i think the weasley family is dysfunctional asf. i don't think i personally can explain it, but this post by @/arkadijxpancakes does a great job of comprehensively analyzing their history and dynamics as well as showing why each weasley is the way they are. super good read!
albus dumbledore: i don't know why this is controversial but i actually think he was a good character, all things considered. yes, he did some bad things, but they were to help save the wizarding world in the end. he set it all up.
severus snape: i think he's awesome, deserved WAY better, and was a traumatized character who is severely overhated. please don't try to fight me on this, you'll just give me a headache.
lily evans: this is a very new opinion of mine but... i don't think she was a great person. i used to wonder 'how could james potter, a shitty little twit twat, end up with such a wonderful and kind and amazing person?' but i've come to realize, she's really not those things. she was kind of a shit friend from what we know. i still think she's very interesting, but not necessarily a good person.
harry potter!! i want to include him because i think that quite frankly he is an awesome little dude but is super underrated and borderline disliked by a big part of the fandom. though i personally feel like he could have been written better in some ways, i still love him tons and i think he deserves more appreciation <33 (also i adore the idea of an oddly specific au where percy and oliver team up to take care of lil tiny first year harry)
neville longbottom: this may be the most controversial one yet but i just don't feel the hype. i feel like he was largely unimportant in the first six books besides as a side character (but it's been a while since i read most of them, so correct me if i'm wrong) and yeah he was cool in the seventh, but like... i still don't feel it. he was pretty boring imo. i think i logically understand why he's loved, but i don't personally relate :/
(canon) james potter: hate him. -100000000/10. he can go die. (OH WAIT HE ALREADY DID!) i'm sorry, i just cannot like him. fanon james is awesome and super cute and lovable, but fanon james is a whole different person than canon james. if we compare young severus to harry, james is dudley dursley in literally every way. rich, privileged, gets away with everything, and loves picking on powerless and vulnerable people for fun. the only difference is that james potter tended to do it with a partner/group, and dudley could do it on his own. oh, and dudley apologized, i guess. it was pretty half assed but we did see him trying to be better with the teacup and stuff. they both suck, obviously, but at least dudley had a slight turning point. maybe i just don't like james because we never saw him be apologetic or regret anything in canon? idk.
cho chang: i honestly really liked her! i thought she and harry could have been super cute ever since i read the third book. now obviously valentines day of 1996 was a disaster, but i still think that if she and harry had met up again after the war and after they had figured themselves out, they could have sort of talked and apologized and moved on and possibly rekindled. idk, this isn't really as ~controversial~ as some of the others because i feel like cho chang is just more forgotten than unpopular or controversial, but i don't see a lot of charry content out there so i'm putting this here :]
one last thing i almost forgot, VIKTOR KRUM IS A FUCKING CREEP!! i used to be more hesitant about voicing this opinion because he's so loved in the fandom, but GOD DAMN he's a creep. as a famous, rich, popular adult, he asks out a 15 year old and is super nice to her and appreciates her intellect and is generally very sweet to her, but that just. that literally just sounds like grooming to me?? wtf?? i mean if i was asked out at 15 by an 18 year old, i would be VERY creeped out. also he comments on how attractive ginny (15 at the time) is at bill's wedding when HE IS IN HIS 20s. he then makes a comment along the lines of 'what's the point of being famous if all the good looking girls are taken?' HEY HERE'S AN IDEA, FIND A WOMAN INSTEAD OF A GIRL??
there's gotta be more controversial opinions i have but no one else comes to mind right now; feel free to request opinions on specific characters! i have a lot of those :]

omg HELLO i have a complicated request of some sort 😭 i’d love to see some more of sympathetic johnny so — what if the reader has a really shitty boyfriend who was with them among their friend group on the sawyers’ property & johnny notices the boyfriend basically being a total asshole to the reader, to the point of sacrificing them for his own survival, thus, he ends up killing the shitty bf and helping the reader escape while also offering them some comfort?? i hope this made sense LOL
Howdy Anon! This is a super cute idea!! and yes, dw, you made sense <3
As if things weren't already bad enough, as if you didn't already have enough problems on your plate, and far too many people trying to kill you, he just had to be an asshole. He always found a way to make things worse. It was astonishing, really.
"Can you- Can you just move? Like, can you back up?" He snapped, and you flinched, giving nothing but a nod as you took a step backwards. You were terrified, and completely lost; he'd told you to follow him, and you didn't want to risk losing sight of him. "Jesus, I should've never gone with you."
Maybe he was just stressed. You took in a quiet breath, trying to reassure yourself. There were footsteps up ahead, and he froze, leaning forward as he inspected the shadows. A large man emerged, and you gasped, looking to your boyfriend for assurance.
"Shit, go, go," he ushered, shoving past you as he moved back in the direction you'd been coming from. You stumbled, but eventually trailed after him.
"Can you please slow down? I can't see anything down here," you whispered, trying to keep up with his jog, but it was hard to balance that and glancing at the ground in case of obstacles.
"Hurry up," he snapped, and you frowned. Maybe he had a point. You were running from a psycho killer, after all.
It wasn't long before his advice screwed you over, and you yelped as your shoe got stuck on the corner of a sickening bone pile, the shards digging into the fabric and causing you to fall to your knees. "Ow- Wait up!" You begged, trying to tug your shoe free.
You could see the man approaching down the dirt corridor, and you whimpered. It was impossible to see anything down here, and while you definitely could feel that your shoe was stuck, you couldn't figure out how. Your boyfriend looked behind himself, and took two steps in your direction before he saw the attacker. "Oh, hell no," he scoffed, shaking his head. "You keep him busy. I'm getting the hell outta this shithole," he scowled, and you froze, completely taken aback that he'd just leave you.
But, he turned tail and ran, and you found yourself on the edge of tears as you fought with the bone pile. As the man approached, he seemed to grow in size, becoming some twisted beast with your blood on his mind, ready to tear into you, ready to completely rip out your internal-
"Did he just... leave you?" He asked, coming into the light as he looked down at you, and then at where your boyfriend was last seen. He was still terrifying, and he loomed over you, but he looked more confused than dangerous.
"What?"
"That- he was your boyfriend, wasn't he? The hell happened to chivalry?" He grumbled, crouching down beside you and motioning with his knife to where your shoe was stuck.
"Aren't you... uhm.." You stammered, shaking your head. "Like, supposed to be killing me?"
"Eh," he grunted, giving a small shrug. "Ain't as much fun without the chase. Your boyfriend, though... Well, he's a runner, ain't he? Might put up a good fight..."
"What? You- you can't kill him!"
"Darlin', I ain't sure if you noticed, but he left you in the dust. While a killer was chasin' ya. That ain't anythin' to repay with mercy. How 'bout I get you outta that trap, go find that asshole, and let you gather yourself. We can play later," he chuckled, reaching down towards your ankle. You flinched as he lifted his knife, but all he did was cut your shoelace free from where it was tangled.
"I.. Thank you?" You mumbled, scooting away. He stood, shrugging again.
"Don't mention it. Go on and run, sweetpea, I can't promise my family'll be so understandin'." You watched as he headed in the direction of your boyfriend, though he paused, looking over his shoulder at you. "Say... Your heart's still beatin' by the time I get done, I may be able to keep it that way. Hold out for me, darlin', yeah?"
"Uhm.. Okay, I can try. Sure."
"Great. Best'a luck." With that, he turned back around and walked off.
What a weird interaction. Hey, at least you were still alive.

ok so i accidentally deleted the draft but a while back an anon asked me basically saying they had read Gone (are the Days) and wanted other good fanfic recs. and this was my response LMAO
hmm !! this may surprise you but i actually don’t consume that much fanfic. partially because i’m picky, partially bc i tend to consume content slowly or bounce around a lot, etc
i will say a general tip is to sort by bookmarks or kudos to get the good stuff and filter by specific tags as well! like i just read mage pride which is the top bookmarked item in the viravos tag and it was definitely worth the hype!!
if you enjoyed gone are the days,
you’d probably like the Professor Next Door by detectiphoenix (also a professor au but high school teachers!) besides that, here are some viravos fanfic i’ve enjoyed, off the top of my head:
(for context i’m not hyper into smut personally or try to find variety/creativity and i’m biased towards certain things lol but)
VIRAVOS FICS I LOVED <3
Mage Pride by luminiex - This is the top bookmarked fic in the viravos tag, and for good reason! While it is written after S2 and has more sympathetic Aaravos than in canon, it is still very well done in my opinion. I also love whatever it takes by them, it’s great if you don’t like smut too! Aaravos and Viren living together in this plane together lives rent free in my head 😭 I also love their fic where Aaravos gets to meet Viren’s family :)
Recidivism by indefensibleselfindulgence/ @iamalivenow - the viren characterization is everything, it takes place in s2 prison era, and it’s very humorous!
The Sound of His Voice by portmanteau_press - very very cool setup/worldbuilding concept i think
Constellation of the Heart by @yurayuramiharin - This fic is one of my absolute favorites and has inspired some of the art I’ve done as well! As someone who loves vintage & goth subculture & IS a baby bat in college I feel like I resonate with it really well! I love the taking of the worldbuilding of the dragon prince recontextualized in a college setting and the way Aaravos was actually an inspiration for Bowie & caused Viren to question his sexuality!! It’s so deliciously perfect but sadly unfinished, but I would say it’s still definitely worth the read! It doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger either, just one of the best burns ever 😁
Touch of a Star by @detectiphoenix - really unique take on what it’s like to touch Aaravos, I adore it sm and think about it everyday too. Fluffy S5 extrapolation/continuation
To Serve or Slaughter by beastlybrooke - viravos recontextualized as vampires like castlevania my other recent fixation? sign me up. it’s interesting how viren’s prejudice towards elves is recast as a prejudice towards vampires, and aaravos’s fight towards the elves and view towards humans i love it everything
honorary mention ficlets:
the stars they lie by rikku - this is short but i really like the way they incorporate virrow and mindgames, as well as enby aaravos :)
Checkmate by @thrandilf is also short and sweet but i adore it, i think about the alternate versions of the s5 trailer sm and even tried writing my own a few times but they never went that far but yeah i love it and they have other fics that are great too
respect his decision by @vestaldestroyer because aaravos didn’t have to revive viren s4 but he did and ughgghhghh while i don’t think he cares that much cause he might have just been using the revival as a way in with claudia and continuation of all that, there’s always that off chance and he doesn’t even realize how attached he is and love is just that huge when you’re that old and powerful, large enough to move mountains and yeah </3
i’d put my own can you stay by @self-spaghettification but that’d seem a bit unfair lol
—
there’s probably others i’ve yet to read or that are cool but i don’t remember or that have some good parts but are kind of iffy imo but those are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head i’m sorry </3
but i’ve also have been compiling a list of fic ratings on a google doc and uhh its not really sharable in any way, but a while ago I also had a website concept where people could share fic ratings like goodreads but for ao3 with some other site inspo in the mix that i spent a few hours sketching out the concept of but idk if i should share but yeah :)
#q&a#fic recs#there’s also ones i loved for aaravos specifically or aaravos&callum but they don’t necessarily fit here#aaravos#viravos#edit bc i put slash before and definitely did not mean to</3#viren#the dragon prince#self spaghettification#anonymous#asks#mine

if you’re still taking prompts, can i ask for a combined 13 and 22? 👀
@bvckandeddie of course you can ask for combos! I hope this is to your liking 💜
(full disclosure, I wrote this in my notes app while hopped up on painkillers and cold medication and also on vacation ✌️)
Chim calls dibs on the couch the second Buck’s front door closes behind the three of them.
Buck glances at Eddie on his other side, wondering if he’ll put up a fight for the couch (and trying to convince himself that he doesn’t care if he does), but Eddie just nods tiredly and trudges in the direction of the stairs up to Buck’s bedroom. Buck can’t really blame him; today was the shift from hell, on top of a long week of shifts, and culminating in the call to limit potential exposure to their families by staying with each other. Given that he lived alone, Buck’s loft was the logical choice for Chim and Eddie to use, while Hen had elected to stay in the guest room at Bobby and Athena’s while the kids moved to Michael’s place.
None of them are very jazzed about the whole situation. One, because it’s a global pandemic and work has been crazy and everything is just a little scary right now, and two, Buck knows Eddie would much rather be with Christopher, and Chim with Maddie.
Buck lingers on the main level just long enough to help Chim dig out some blankets for the couch — he really needs to get an air mattress if this goes on longer than the two weeks that everyone is promising — before hurrying up the stairs after Eddie. He finds his best friend at the top of the stairs, staring a little blankly at Buck’s bed.
Oh. Right.
While Buck is totally cool with sharing the bed — it’s a king, after all — he has no idea how Eddie’s feeling about the prospect. The last person Eddie shared a bed with was probably Shannon, and Buck needs to not think too hard about that if he wants to keep his head on straight (pun definitely intended.)
“I can take the floor?” Eddie asks, glancing over at Buck.
Buck rolls his eyes. “I don’t have an air mattress. Besides, it’s fine, it’s plenty big enough for both of us.”
A strange sort of expression flickers over Eddie’s face, but it’s gone before Buck can identify it. When he turns back to the bed, Buck swears the back of Eddie’s neck is a little flushed.
“If you’re sure,” Eddie says haltingly.
“I don’t have a problem with sharing with you,” Buck says, and then frowns, his stomach dropping a little. “Unless — I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable —“
“No, no!” Eddie scrambles. “No, I didn’t mean — I’m not —“ He sighs. “Which side of the bed do you sleep on?”
“Oh, uh.” Buck’s stomach twists for some stupid reason. It’s been a while since he shared with anyone — Ali was out of town a lot during their brief relationship, and he and Abby hadn’t been physical long enough to pick sides. “The middle. Pick whichever you want.”
Eddie wanders over to dump his duffel bag on the right side of the bed, closest to the stairs. “If you have a dent in your mattress that I keep rolling into…”
“I haven’t had it that long!” Buck protests.
Eddie smirks at him, but there’s something else there besides the playfulness that Buck is familiar with.
Before he can decipher it, Chim’s calling from downstairs about Buck’s terrible throw pillows and the moment is broken.
Eddie shoots Buck a sympathetic look as Buck sighs gustily. “Maddie wouldn’t appreciate it if I killed the father of her unborn child on the first day, right?”
———
Buck thought that he’d have trouble falling asleep given the general existential dread hanging over him and the fact that he’s sharing his home with two other people, but he actually doesn’t remember much after he crawled under the covers beside Eddie.
He’s so comfortable. He loves his mattress and sheets and pillows, but somehow he’s never had a sleep as good as this before. He’s warm and cozy, with a comforting weight along his left side, grounding him, making him feel held.
Actually —
He is being held.
There’s an arm slung across his waist, a head on his shoulder, soft hairs tickling the underside of his jaw. He breathes in, the cobwebs of sleep slowly dissolving in his brain, and he smells —
Eddie.
Eddie is on top of him, clinging to him like a koala bear, snoring softly into Buck’s collarbone.
Buck’s traitorous heart soars in his chest.
He shouldn’t be happy about this. The only reason Eddie is here is because of a pandemic — not because he wants to be. He probably doesn’t even realize it’s Buck that he’s holding; muscle memory from Shannon is the only reason that Eddie is plastered to him like this.
Buck shifts slightly, hoping he can disentangle himself without waking Eddie, but then Eddie’s arm around him tightens at the same time as he groans.
“Time’s it?” Eddie mumbles.
The hot breath against Buck’s skin makes him shiver. He twists his neck to read the clock on his bedside table. “Early. Not even five.”
Eddie hums into Buck’s neck, going boneless for a few blissful seconds before he suddenly stiffens. Seemingly aware that he’s stuck to his best friend like a barnacle, Eddie slowly lifts his head off Buck’s chest and meets his gaze. There’s a blush high on Eddie’s cheeks that Buck finds equal parts adorable and disheartening.
“Um…” Eddie says, slowly unlatching himself from Buck. “Sorry about that.”
Buck feels depressingly cold now that Eddie’s scooted a respectable few inches back. “Don’t worry about it. It was… kind of nice, actually.” And then Buck cringes because seriously? He had to say that last part out loud?
Eddie’s face gets even redder, but then he says, “Weirdly, that’s the best sleep I’ve had in a while.”
“Well…” Buck hedges, “I make a pretty good pillow. And — I don’t, y’know, mind. If you don’t.”
Oh god, can a hole just open up in his bed and swallow him now and put him out of his misery?
But, miracle of miracles, Eddie begins to slowly inch closer again. He keeps his eyes fixed on Buck the entire time, like he’s expecting Buck to take back his offer. Buck practically holds his breath, terrified to do anything lest he scare Eddie off again. But then Eddie slowly resumes his earlier position, laying an arm gently across Buck’s stomach as he places his head back on Buck’s shoulder.
“Your mattress totally has a dent in the middle,” Eddie whispers.
Smiling, Buck wraps his arm around Eddie’s shoulders, holding him close. “Guess we’ll just have to get comfortable in the dent, then.”
He can’t be sure, but he swears he feels Eddie’s lips curve into a smile against his skin.

Why I Hate Adrien
So a few people have asked me why I hate Adrien so much. I've given it some thought, and I've realized that my hatred comes from 3 sources:
1. Adrien is a passive, useless character and a waste of screentime.
Adrien is a very passive character. He doesn't really have goals that he works towards outside of romance. He doesn't feel like a real person with a real life. He's just an object for the actual main characters to fight over. And to be clear, not every character needs to be active or well developed, but thei screentime should correspond to this. Adrien takes up a massive amount of screentime in the show. And since he ended up being worthless, I feel like he personally wasted my time by appearing so much. His screentime could have instead been used to develop the other characters.
2. Adrien is a creator's pet.
While Adrien doesn't really do anything in the show, I think I still may have felt bad for the character if I felt like this was because the writers didn't like him or something. Thing is, Adrien is the complete opposite, as the writers are clearly biases *for* him at every turn. He's almost always portrayed as right, even in situations where he clearly isn't. "Chameleon" clearly portrayed his "advice" about Lila as good, even though anyone with basic respect for their peers wouldn't be okay with letting them be lied to. There's episodes like "Kuro Neko", where Adrien is very clearly in the wrong amd being unreasonable, yet he's still clearly framed like we're supposed to feel bad for him. Part of the reason he has so much screentime is because the writers love to insert him in every situation they can. Even his status as a passive character can be considered as the writers favoring him. They think he shouldn't have to do anything because he's such a precious boy, so everyone should just do everything for him. I'm not inclined to like a character that I feel is getting special treatment just because of who they are.
3. Adrien does horrible things.
Those last 2 points definitely provide potential for me to dislike a character, but I don't think it's possible for me to actually do so if that character hasn't done anything wrong. Well, despite what the writers want you to believe, Adrien has absolutely done a lot of horrendous things. There's the fact that he continued being friends with Chloé despite her remorseless bullying of Adrien's "friends". He keeps trying to date Ladybug despite her repeatedly rejecting him, to the point where it's straight up harassment. This culminates in "Kuro Neko", where he quits his job of protecting the city because he keeps getting rejected (again, this is portrayed as sympathetic). Like I mentioned before, he tells Marinette to let Lila continue lying to everyone else. And why does he do this? I honestly don't know, and neither does anybody else. There's no rationalization for this moment. But the point is, Adrien put Lila above everyone else for some reason. He also emotionally cheated on Kagami, hurt her feelings, and barely cared afterward. He didn't have to do anything to make up with her, that just worked out on its own. He tried to Cataclysm multiple people despite knowing that it can be fatal, and the only time he displays real remorse over it is when Monarch is on the receiving end. Oh, but he only feels bad for like a minute, then he's fine (I believe that that was just to make Ladybug's exposition about not being able to fix it fee more natural, he wouldn't have shown any remorse if that wasn't necessary). Oh, and then there's that one moment in "Passion" where he pretends not to know what the consequences of making a wish is and tried to convince Ladybug to let him make one. If she said yes, he would have sacrificed somebody else to heal Nathalie. The show has made it clear that this is morally wrong. To me, this is the moment where Adrien became irredeemable. Also, in the Paris Special we find out that Adrien became a mass murdering supervillain in an alternate universe because he's sad that his mom died. He didn't have any grander plan, not scheme to bring her back like Gabriel did. Nope, he just killed people because he was sad, that's how they presented it. I know that this is technically a different person, but the alternate characters from tbe special are meant to be pretty close to the originals, just with different circumstances. So I think this shows who Adrien really is deep down. So yeah, I think Adrien is one of the most despicable "good guy" characters ever.
So that's the reason I hate Adrien, in 3 parts. I wouldn't hate him nearly as much if it wasn't for all 3 components. Kind of a perfect storm really, and I don't think I'll ever hate another character this much, for this reason.

Do you have recommendations for future fics starring the current cast's children? Preferably ones where the kids have become superheroes themselves, but not required.
Sure, I've got a few! I dunno how much focus is required to qualify, but I'll do my best!
a story retold by @hanaasbananas
“No, no no, darling,” he shushed Emma, “don’t cry, your maman needs her sleep.” Rocking Emma slowly until she settled again, he continued “What if i tell you a story, hm? Shall I tell you all about how I met your maman–you’d like that, wouldn’t you?” or: 4 times Adrien told his children how he met their mother, and 1 time someone else told it instead.
---
Cheating Cat by @11jj11
When Emma and Isaac Dupain-Cheng realize that Adrien is Chat Noir, that can only mean one thing... that he's cheating on Marinette with Ladybug, and they're the only ones that know!
This is really cute, with Emma and Isaac being worried about Adrien supposedly cheating on Marinette and wanting to talk to Ladybug to stop her from dating Chat Noir. That’s not all that’s going on here, though - Isaac’s actually adopted, but he and Adrien are still related, which puts an interesting twist on the tale. There’s a reason he’s especially sympathetic to the fact that Adrien being Chat Noir means he would have had to fight his own father…
---
Turtle-y Awesome! by chatonne-rousse
Hugo Dupain-Cheng loves turtles, and by extension, he loves Carapace, his favorite superhero of them all. He doesn't know yet that his idol is also his Uncle Nino, and Nino hasn't yet seen the Carapace shrine that is Hugo's bedroom. But the little man is turning five and has just two wishes - a Carapace-themed party with friends and family, and the latest, greatest Carapace play set. This is a story of best friends, laughter, good kids and even better parents, and a whole lot of turtles.
---
Into the Unknown by NUMBER1ANGIRL
Marinette Dupain-Cheng has been Ladybug for 12 years now. She’s been fighting Hawkmoth by herself in this time, without the partner she was promised. When Hawkmoth is defeated, she starts fighting a new villain, and the strange ache of something she wasn’t aware was missing.
---
Growing Fangs by @rosie-b
Louisa Dupain-Cheng has always liked to keep secrets. When she finds out that her parents are the heroes of Paris while spying on them as they transform for a patrol one night, she decides to keep this new finding all to herself. But as the years go by, will she change her mind?
---
This last one's incomplete, but it's got quite a lot of focus on the future kids.
Primary Sources (And Other Historical Epiphanies) by Hoover_the_fish
Mary Beauréal hates history, so she's not too jazzed for the history reports and group presentations that Caline Bustier assigns for her class. However, the people in her life have an odd connection to an era her teacher refers to only as, "Ladybug and Chat Noir," a connection that none of them seem to want to remember. "For some reason, there aren’t a whole lot of newspaper articles, but there’s an old blog online that might be worth checking out. As far as I know all the pictures, interviews, the articles that still exist- they all ended up there at some point or another." "Do you know what it's called?" "I believe she named it the Ladyblog."

You’ve really put so succinctly why Dany is my favorite despite being a dark Dany believer. I love tragedy I love doom I love when the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Her arc has been set up so beautifully and her peacefully ascending and ruling happily is just something I don’t think George would ever write based on his criticism of Tolkien. George also clearly loves tragedy. It’s a shame that discussing Dany with any sense of nuance and analysis of George’s actual themes has to be classified as “anti dany.” She’s my favorite character! I’m not anti Dany in the slightest! Cersei is also a huge favorite of mine. But people are somehow able to handle nuance in Cersei (well, more than with Dany) and can acknowledge that she’s tragic and sympathetic despite also being despicable and doing unforgivable things
Thank you so much <3 I definitely agree Dany won't likely get a smooth-sailing happy ending on the iron throne. There are so many similarities in how the fandom treats Cersei and Dany! I think Cersei gets a lot more sympathy now than when the books/show started, but Dany discourse sort of devolved into she was always an evil tyrant who loved killing people vs she's the savior who can do no wrong and grrm will make her the god empress of the universe in ADOS after the show fumbled her arc so bad. The most innovative part of Dany's narrative on grrm's part is that we the audience will be more upset when Dany dies despite her, for lack of better phrasing, turning to the dark side. Usually authors who write "morally grey" characters do so in a way where they don't make the character do anything too bad so the audience will stop liking them, or they give a villain a few appealing qualities, while still having their actions be firmly rooted in the "bad" camp. If Dany does burn KL, that action alone puts her beyond redemption, yet we've followed her entire journey and seen the immense amount of good she's been capable of. Dany's death I think is supposed to be the climactic tragedy of the series, in which the most classic high fantasy trope of the good guy defeats the ultimate big bad guy and we all clap and cheer is turned on its head. Grrm does not reward violence, he does not justify revenge, and he makes a point of denying the audience the satisfaction of violence being inflicted onto any character, no matter how deserved we think it is. So even though Dany takes the narrative place of the final villain, her death will be somber and tragic rather than a victorious moment. Someone who tried so hard to be good but was ultimately corrupted the same as everyone else in the endless machine of war, fighting over a throne that everyone hated sitting on anyway.
The anti tag imo is meaningless 😅. It could mean literally anything from "I dislike how the writers handled this character's arc" or "I dont have a problem with the writing I just really hate this one fking character" and of course analysis of a character that paints them in a negative light (with the assumption it was done intentionally by the author) which goes against the popular interpretation of said character. I think Dany is a phenomenally written character, but a lot of her fans don't like the dark Dany theory (completely fair) so I tag it as anti for filtering ease.
#ty for the ask <3#anon ask#anti daenerys#< not really#targ nation can be so aggressive I think it soured a lot of people's enjoyment of Dany unfortunately
