Okay so hypothetically if someone was to write something based on your Whaleshark Riku AU, what would the hypothetical time-line of events be? You know, hypothetically, of course

Well, hypothetically, if someone were to write something based off the AU, uhhhh

- Sora meets Riku accidentally while playing on the Play Island. They’re essentially BBS ages and stuff so like little babbies.

- they quickly become friends (Sora’s kinda a weirdo so while he’s good at making friends, he doesn’t have any like friends friends if that makes any sense. Until like, Kairi comes along but anyway) and Sora keeps his new friend a secret

- after a couple years, Riku suddenly disappears and Sora is devastated. (I don’t exactly have a reason why he disappears? My friend suggested he’s a sea god of sorts that can purify water so he was drawn elsewhere? But you can think of whatever I suppose)

- 10 or so years pass and Sora’s kinda chalked up Riku to being an imaginary friend. He’s volunteering at the local aquarium (he’s studying to become a marine biologist <3) when he hears about some new creature coming in. The place doubles as a clinic for marine life and Sora also helps out there too as an intern.

- However, the staff are kinda bein hush hush about it and Sora super sus of that.

- He ends up sneaking in (somehow) and discovers Riku (he’s REAL holy shit) but now he’s massive. Easily the size of a bus or more. (Riku’s also injured but I dunno by what so more flexibility there and that’s why he’s at the clinic)

- Sora manages to get Riku’s attention (he also does something here that would let Riku know it’s Sora definitely but I dunno what that is so use ur imagination)

- Riku’s ecstatic and they end up just hanging out for a few hours until Security finds out Sora’s there

- There’s a scuffle where as Sora’s getting taken away, Riku flips out, slamming against the glass. The overnight staff are able to sedate Riku enough before he can actually hurt himself and Sora’s taken in for questioning

- The staff review the security footage and they end up getting Sora to stay on the floor (he gets paid money too don’t worry) as whatever Sora’s doing had improved Riku’s mental state drastically. They’d never seen him that content or relaxed before (my man’s got depression and it’s not helping his injuries heal)

- l really have nothing past that? Like, Sora’s there and most of the staff are super nice and stuff. U can add like “evil people wanna use the Sea God for evil purposes” or something here I honestly don’t care what cha do here

- but eventually Riku, with healing both mentally and physically, figures out that he can become human temporarily (he had to change back like, once a month for a day) when something happens to Sora and Riku is too big to follow and help

- and I dunno! Go crazy with it

"Isn't he just so perfect? I mean, he plays violin, he wants marriage but he's willing to wait, he wants her to chase her dreams and put herself first... not to mention he's fine as hell, and he fell first! Where do you even find these men..." You ranted passionately, finishing with a dramatic sigh, sinking deeper into your boyfriend's arms. You were currently watching Whisper of the Heart for the first time in a while. You had always loved the movie ever since you were little and first started daydreaming about the idea of love.

Your situation now was quite different from when you had first seen the movie. You had your very own adoring boyfriend who perfectly fit all your standards for men. You loved him more than anything, but you still couldn't help the attachment you once had to Seiji in the film. He was charming in a different way from Riku.

"He's perfect, huh?" Riku whispered, an eyebrow shooting up. You didn't catch onto his sarcastic tone at first.

"He is." You repeated, eyes glued to the screen where the last scene of the movie was playing out.

"Hmph." Your boyfriend's dramatic sigh caught your attention and you glanced up to see his exaggerated pout. "You'd pick Seiji over me, wouldn't you?"

You furrowed your eyebrows at his ridiculous question, "No? Seiji isn't even real."

"But if he was, you would?" Riku continued.

You half-scoffed, half-laughed, "Last time I checked, you were my boyfriend. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't pick you in a room full of a thousand men." You said simply. Your eyes were still watching the credits roll on the screen, so you didn't catch the way your boyfriend's ears tinted a bright red.

"What if all of your favourite anime men were in the room? Would you still pick me?"

"Yeah." You didn't even have to think about it. Riku made you happier than any other person in the world. You couldn't even imagine your life without him, even back when he was still just your best friend and nothing else. You loved him even more as your boyfriend, and imagining anyone else in his spot just felt wrong.

"Really?" Riku's voice was hopeful, and a small smile was playing on his lips.

You laughed at his expression, "Yes, really. Are you doubting my love for you?" You tilted your head to the side, studying his face in amusement.

"No, just... I didn't expect you to be so... secure about it."

You grinned, "Well, I have the best boyfriend in the world. If anything, other girls would be jealous of me." You stated confidently, watching your boyfriend's cheeks as he grew even more flustered. He was trying to stay collected amidst your compliments, but clearly failing. You leaned in to press a kiss to his pink cheek.

"You're cute when you're jealous."

Vox Akuma

As you step out of the changing room, Vox’s eyes widened at the sight of you in the white suit and red shirt identical to his own. And just like his, your black and red hair was sprayed over your shoulders. You looked away from him, blushing, as you were worried about what his reaction would be. “Darling, don’t be shy, look at me.” Your beloved demon walked over and lifted your chin, making you face him. Your red eyeliners and golden lenses were displayed clearly for him to see. “Holy Riku Tazumi, you look so hot.” You felt your face heat up at his comments. Vox chuckled at your reaction and leaned in to peck you on your lips. “See? No need to be shy, you look stunning. I’ll have to take a photo later.”

Mysta Rias

“HOLY SHIT-” Mysta’s lips were left agape, and his eyes got so wide when you walked into you and his shared bedroom wearing a cosplay of him. You were dressed in the orange patterned shirt, white pants, and the fox beret similar to his. You had one hand on your waist, the other lowering your orange sunglasses, showing him your turquoise lenses while slightly sticking your tongue out. Your cleavage was also slightly revealed by the orange shirt. Mysta was ready to just cross his arms over his chest and pass out right there. Why do you look so beautiful?? “So, what do you think?” Your question snapped Mysta out of his thoughts. Mysta lifted your taupe coloured hair to peck your forehead. “Absolutely perfect.”

Luca Kaneshiro

What’s a cleavage? Your entire chest was exposed at this point. Luca’s face immediately heated up at the sight of you in the similar looking white striped suit, dark grey shirt, and fur coat. To be honest, both of you were way too flustered right now. Luca had never seen you wear such exposed clothes, and you never had worn any. “So uhhh… do you like it..?” Luca tried to keep his composure and lifted two thumbs up. “You look so poggers babe.” You chuckled “And you were so adorable just now” You walked over to him to squish his cheeks, causing him to become a blushing mess (not that he wasn’t already). “My cute golden retriever boy” Oh man what did you do to him?

Ike Eveland

Ike leaned forward on his seat when you came out all cute looking in his cosplay. He felt like in heaven when he saw you in heels, fishnet gloves and the golden rimmed glasses. You even held a book and a quill pen by your side as props. You tucked away some of your grey-to-blue coloured hair while slightly blushing. “Heheh, your cosplay was kinda hard to put on. At least it looks good.” Dammit, how could you speak in such a sugar-coated voice while cosplaying as him? You were going to make Ike ascend. Ike walked over to you, and like the gentleman that he is, he took your hand and tenderly placed a peck on the knuckles while keeping eye contact with your golden lenses. “You look way more than good.”

Shu Yamino

“EYYYYYYYYYYYYYY” And that was the hardest Shu had ever eyy-ed before, just from looking at you in his sorcerer cosplay. As soon as you showed Shu your cosplay, it was visible that Shu was looking at your small waist bound in the black corset. “Shuey, it’s not nice to stare~” You chuckled as you managed to snap your banana boi back to reality. “O-oh! S-sorry…” Shu could only sheepishly look away blushing upon getting caught staring at your waist. You pulled him closer by the arm, close enough for you to whisper in his ear. “Don’t worry pretty boy, I often stare at your snatched waist too.” Well if that did not bring the true flustered Shu out. Broski was standing there stuttering and everything. He’s too cute you couldn’t help but giggle at his reaction. “H-hey! Not funny! You’ll be paying back later when I get to hold your snatched waist all to myself!”

I adore that KH has characters that parallel each other in multiple ways. It's not just Ventus = Sora = Roxas, Terra = Riku = Axel/Lea, Aqua = Kairi = Xion, but you can mix and match and it'd make sense.

Sora = Tera: Both couldn't overcome the darkness and nearly or fully get Norted. They fail their Mark of Mastery and pretty much go missing. Both tend to be associated with rage in one way or another.

Riku = Aqua: Made to be the Masters in their respective trios, the Responsible One^tm, struggled with darkness and were in the Realm of Darkness for a while

Kairi = Ventus: Pure heart of light, had to go to Sora to recover/hide, struggled with being left behind

Sora = Xion: It's interesting how alike these two can be (though of course, you'd assume so naturally), but sometimes even more so than Sora and Roxas at times, specifically their sacrificial behavior

And I could go on and on, but that's the basic gist of it. It makes for interesting analysis and imagery. On the even more fun end, it makes for potentially fascinating potential team-ups!

so, re:chain of memories, huh?

warning! its been a little while since i played through recom, so the game isnt as fresh in my mind as some others. sorry for any innacuracies!

spoiler alert, this is my second favorite kingdom hearts game. at least of the ones i've played so far. i get that this isn't like. a POPULAR opinion but fuck you i have almost nothing but positives to say about it.

let's start with the easy stuff first. recom introduced a new card-based combat system. i cant compare it to the gba version, since i didn't play that, but i can say that for what its worth i DID enjoy the combat. recom is by far the hardest game so far (at least for me) and almost every boss took multiple days for me to beat, even with my hp maxed out. it took me a while to get the combat system, but id honestly love to replay the game now that i have a better understanding of how it works. the card system requires a lot of quick thinking and i get that it isnt everyones taste but its CERTAINLY mine. every fight is difficult and feels genuinely rewarding when you win. the movement, like kh1, can use a lot of work, but i wouldnt call it terrible. just kinda sluggish. i think my favorite boss fight was larxene. shes a pain in the ass but i love her.

i think riku's side dropping the deck building mechanic isnt terrible, but i wish i could reorder his deck at the very least. and the lack of healing cards is. not fun. basically any damage you take is permanent unless you HAPPEN to get mickey and its simply Not a fun time. im not very good at games okay.

i have a lot less to say about the worlds than the combat. they're definitely the worst aspect of the game, though. the idea of making worlds with cards is fine! it just leads to kind of repetitive world design. the stories are forgettable, so forgettable that i literally forgot them. and i could make a point about how thats the idea its a game all about forgetting things!! but honestly that just making excuses for it. the worlds couldve kept the idea of forgetting things without literally making them forgettable. i say this about every world, except for one. because DESTINY ISLANDS

destiny islands is just. so fucking good in recom. its the climax of both sora and rikus stories and i think theyre both amazing. id have to say i prefer rikus, soley because of the visual storytelling you get from his side of it, and thats not to say soras is bad at all. but something about zexion telling riku that its his fault his home was destroyed, as riku sees a version of himself turning into a literal monster? thats just good okay. its really good.

i ADORE the characters in this game too. everything we get from them is sooo good. it's the introduction to the organization and all of them (except lexaeus who did literally nothing) are a treat. axels my favorite ofc, but larxene is such a fun villain, you love to hate her. shes really the star of the org cast in this game. sure, axels may have said its his show now, but larxene stole the spotlight.

its namines introduction, too, and i love her. on one hand, shes just really kind. she wants a friend, she wants someone to talk to, she wants to meet sora. on the other, shes just a little bit fucked up actually. sure, shes honest with sora, but shes the tiniest little bit guilt trippy and i LOVE THAT. her response to sora saying he wants to get back his own memories and forget her is "oh okay. you want to remember your REAL friends, huh? theyre the ones who REALLY matter to you? yeah anyone would want that. no friends for namine i guess." like shes just a bit salty and we love that for her. i want slightly guilt tripping and salty namine back nomura.

but ofc one of my favorite new characters in this game HAS to be repliku. god i ADORE repliku. his hatred for riku is sooo fun and the way he fights with sora is great too. like in soras side i thought he was a neat villain but rikus side? hes amazing omfg. one of the only villains i liked in rikus story (sorry lexaeus, you werent good until days)

over all, this game certainly isnt everyones cup of tea, but its DEFINITELY mine. it's the game im most excited to replay at some point, mostly because of the amazing boss fights. 9/10. its got issues, but the story and characters are so good that i genuinely could not care less about like. most of them.

The bustling of packed streets dies down as you approach your apartment complex.

Intense lighting is replaced by the soft warmth of candle-lit windows, joyous voices overheard in the outline of the people habitating the decorated houses.

In the snow-coated streets, you walk, arms wrapped around a soft teddy bear that your boyfriend just got for you.

You hug it close, arms tightening around the plushie’s red coat adorned with a bow. A smile makes it to your face as you steal a glance in your lover’s direction. It was so cute, you think, how he looks intimidating and yet, he’s the sweetest with you.

The moonlight above, light years away, seems to agree with your statement, as its aura illuminates the idol’s profile; an otherworldly god, bound by fate to you.

“Gaku?” You call him, gaze lost in his handsome features.

Steely eyes focus on you, brows slightly raised in silent question.

You stop walking, coming to stand before him, one of your hands lacing with his.

“Thank you.” You giggle, hugging your new plushie a little tighter.

A soft chuckle leaves Gaku’s lips, his hand squeezing yours tenderly.

“Anything for you, my dear.” He tells you, with a fleeting kiss to your lips.

Then, he brushes a delicate kiss over the back of your hand.

“Can I have this dance with you?” Is his question, as puffs of hot breath are held in your throat.

You nod, as your lover sways you beneath the Christmas lights and the smiling moon.

You rest your cheek against the soft fabric of his long black coat, cheeks heating up at the proximity.

The moon reflects on the snow at your feet, its glow imprinting the shadows of two entangled souls over the pearlescent canvas.

The warmth of the fireplace casts your living room in rosy light.

You didn’t use it normally, but today is a special day, after all.

Powdered sugar coats your lips as laughter fills the air.

Your apron is all stained, remnants of icing staining the sleeves of your sweater, but you don’t care.

Amber eyes crinkle up in warm crescents, your unadulterated smile, the most precious gift he could ever ask for.

You were radiant like this, no creases on your forehead, only the curve of your smile enticing him; akin to the tantalizing sparkle of champagne, he can never get enough of you.

The song comes to an end, and your labored breathing fills the air.

“Another, please! I want to dance more with you, Ryu!” You ask, eyes shiny, cheeks hot, despite the sake remaining untouched just yet.

Ryunosuke lets out a hearty laugh, gaze softening even more, if that was possible, at your enthusiastic request.

“Alright, alright.” He smiles.

You let out a happy squeal, standing on your tiptoes to place an innocent kiss on his lips.

When the new song starts to play and you pull away, however, your partner chases after you, capturing your lips in his once more.

Afternoon sunlight streams in through translucent silky curtains, wrapping your locked lips in vibrant shades of honey and gold.

Your lover tastes glazed sugar on you, the added sweetness and the addiction of you deepening the kiss, divine intoxicating nectar

The music goes on.

♡ NANASE RIKU

Flakes of falling snow land on Riku’s nose as he follows you through the park.

Despite the white layer covering every surface, a blue expanse hangs overhead, the halo of the sun high in the sky; an angel guardian warming up the idol’s back.

There is a sort of freedom, of newfound joy in this outing today.

Whiteness surrounds your lover, and yet, he is happy it is not that of hospital beds, but of just fallen snow instead.

He smiles.

Memories of him and his twin flash before his eyes. He is glad there is no longer a window glass separating him from this winter wonderland.

And of course, he is even more grateful nothing can keep him apart from the one he loves, either.

“Rikkun!” You call him, running back towards him. “What are you smiling about, huh?” You question, a mischievous smirk curling your lips. “Are you feeling okay? Are you wearing warm enough clothes?” You worry, adjusting his scarf snuggly.

He gives you one of his cute smiles.

“I’m alright, [Y/n]. I’m happy…” He trails off, those sunset eyes of his, big and bright, lingering memories present in the undertones of early dusk.

You brush scarlet locks away from his forehead, your slightly chapped lips placing a kiss to his brow.

“I’m glad, Riku. You deserve it. So much, my love.” You assure him, as your arms wrap around his form, your face resting in the crook of his neck.

He hugs you close, his body beginning to sway the both of you around, vermillion eyes fluttering closed.

You can feel his heartbeat, in sync with yours, as you two dance amidst a gentle rain of snowy glitter.

To feel you so close… Even if he ends up having a cough attack later, this is more than worth it.

♡ OSAKA SOGO

You watch intently as your boyfriend’s fingers strum the guitar’s cords.

There is something definitely hypnotizing to him, you think.

Lavender moondust falls over his amethyst eyes as he intently focuses on his instrument, sweet notes and daring rifts mingling together in a melody that has you on the edge of your seat.

Sogo’s music transports you to a whole other universe, where no worries exist, just the two of you, in an idyll made by yourselves.

His fingers stop momentarily, gaze of hyacinths at sunrise focused on you, an indication for you to say something.

“Amazing…” You utter, entranced by him and the notes still vibrating on the chords of his guitar. “I want to dance to this song with you.” You blurt out, eyes never once leaving his.

Your boyfriend smiles, a light chuckle filling the air of his comforting room.

“I guess that could be arranged.” He tells you, standing up, offering a hand to you.

You take it, wondering what he has planned.

And the moment you find yourself wrapped in his soft embrace, Sogo’s voice entones the lyrics to what he was playing earlier.

They are sweet, gentle, like demure lavender fields coloring a cloudy day; passionate, the blaze he so usually hides, but that shines bright beneath his composed façade.

The melody he sings, the one you’re dancing to right now… It is him, all his true emotions and his love for you on display, with no picture perfect image to hide the rawest parts of him.

You love him, always.

But like this, you get to see every little part that constitutes his heart.

As you sway with him, you think true love had never been so clear.

Dawn has barely touched the concrete when you take a seat at the dorm’s backyard.

You knew he’d be here.

So you stand up, making your way towards where clear sunbeams seem to move in tandem with your lover.

Coppery hued irises catch sight of you, their corners tilting up when you reflect in his stare.

And for all the way with words Mitsuki always has, none are exchanged this time, for there is no need.

Everything you might have wanted to express is made obvious in the sync of your movements with his.

Touma Inumaru: No, at first, he was bouncing around energetically. But once I settled on the sofa, he hopped onto my lap and stayed there the entire time lol. He must have really liked it because he started snoring loudly, which was incredibly cute and soothing!

2) What was Gorou-kun like?

Touma Inumaru: Gorou-kun was friendly, just like the dog at my grandma’s place. When I started thinking about it, I started missing it!

3) What was Leo-kun like?

Touma Inumaru: He was such a glutton lolol. Just showing him snacks made him perform a full range of tricks, from sitting obediently to rolling over and exposing his belly, all without any commands. It was hilarious lol

Touma Inumaru: Also, Mina seemed to have a knack for petting dogs because they all came over and snuggled up to him. I couldn't help feeling a bit jealous lol

Tsumugi Takanashi: He might be the dog whisperer! Lol. I've heard that dogs love being petted behind the ears or under the chin!

Touma Inumaru: I've heard that too! Mina said he strokes their chins in a ticklish way.

Touma Inumaru: I tried it, but instead of wanting me to pet them, they just jumped on me as if they wanted to play lol

Tsumugi Takanashi: They probably see you as someone who'll play with them!

Touma Inumaru: Well, that makes me happy too. When we were leaving, they seemed so lonely and kept making little sniffing noises. Mina and I talked about how we didn't want to leave lol

Tsumugi Takanashi: It's easy to feel reluctant to leave in such situations… > <

Reasons to play KH:

Kingdom Hearts 1 Maleficent basically adopts Riku, who literally looks exactly the same as Silver and both share many attributes (like associations with dreams)

Kingdom Hearts 1 includes basically all the TWST great seven except replace the evil queen with like, captain hook.

Maleficent is in all the games as some type of antagonist.

The number seven is heavily featured throughout the games. Much like TWST it has a great importance. Instead of the "great seven" we have the "seven princesses of heart" which is literally just RSA.

Mickey is there. He has a canon reason for why he does not have a shirt. He also gets choke slammed.

You will cry much like TWST makes you cry for the tragic backstories.

Kingdom Hearts 2 has stitch, who is a summon that you can fight with. He also sends Sora, Donald, and Goofy to the Tron world while harassing final fantasy characters.

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep has the space ship Stitch is from. The main characters teach him about friendship before the movie events. It's actually really adorable and precious.

Kindgom Hearts Dream Drop Distance is gay as hell and has so many similarities to chapter 7 I could write a whole essay.

I have written a crossover fic for the two. It is not finished and I don't know if it ever will be but its great fan service (shamelessly plug)

Riku is a Disney Princess and here's why...

Riku displays Princess features

He's just so Princess. And I've been thinking why is he so princess what is it that makes him like this

So I turned to the official Disney princesses and the comparison is something else.

Kingdom Hearts itself does this all the time with how Riku or Sora acts and gives phenomenal parallels through the categories

One of the mainly criterias are animal Sidekicks, but wait Riku doesn't have one does he?

Guess again.

He in fact does, and so does Sora.

Let's take a look at Dream Drop Distance— a game where Riku displays affection and is accompanied by these silly little guys known as Dream Eaters and his main one is Komory Bat.

The novels add some great details and scenes where they show affection to Riku. They help him fight as well as rub against him.

How could you not find them so adorable and want one?

Royal Bloodline

The next thing is royalty and just note I'm using only knowledge we definitely know or implied, sorry no bloodline theories. In the criteria most princesses are princesses from having a royal bloodline or displaying some act of heroism.

And throughout the series we see these qualities of heroism.

Starting out in darkness, he redeems himself by displaying heroic qualities as any 15 yo in fiction.

In the second game, Riku helps defeat Xemnas, the ultimate bad of the group they were trying to defeat.

After KH1, he deeply regrets his actions and sacrifices himself multiple times, such as pushing Sora out of the way during the final Xemnas battle. Instead of Sora getting hit, he does himself. In DDD, he then displays skills to accept himself and who he is while also rescuing Sora from darkness.

He even states, "...Are you what's trapping him in that nightmare? Cause if you are... I'm what nightmares fear!"

P.S. the JPN translation of the scene is: If you're a nightmare, I'll eat/devore you

And in KH3 not only does he comfort Sora when he feels down, but he sacrifices his own life for Sora's in the keyblade graveyard

Central Character

Riku is one of the main characters, he is the second important character— the first being Sora. Riku actually is in more games than Sora. In 358/2 Days, Sora is not in the game. He is only shown through flashbacks, but Riku he is there. He interacts with Xion and Roxas. Then in DDD the game centers around him more than it really does Sora.

But even in the other games he is still important. Without him, all of the games would be different. No character could take his place.

If Riku simply didn't exist, there would be no one trying to bring destiny islands to darkness. Terra and Aqua wouldn't have gone to Destiny Islands since they came there following Riku's light.

Kairi also would never have gone there because there is no keyblade wielder there. Sora would probably make friends with the other Islanders and he wouldn't have gone on an adventure and there would be no one bringing the princesses to Maleficent.

Prince

Not every princess has a prince, but he certainly does. And Sora is certainly his.

Riku even called him a prince before

They would have a mutual relationship of both saving and comforting the other.

They both have a care and understanding. Sora always thinking of his princess and Riku does all he cans for his prince. They rescue the other multiple times, they sacrifice for the other, and the two even fight together

Adventure

Not every princess goes on an adventure, but Riku certainly does. He goes from using darkness to feeling at his lowest point where he has to accept himself and his darkness (and even possible romantic feelings for Sora his prince).

He then spends a year trying to defend his prince and sacrifices his form to help him awaken. Then he becomes a version of himself that is almost like a monster and refuses to let anyone see him like that.

But when Sora does he doesn't care Riku is still his friend, his princess. It doesn't change a thing and Riku is still Riku. And Sora loves who he is

This gives so much fairytale prince and princess vibes.

They both work together and save the day and after being stuck in darkness they're okay cause the two are together. Then a light appears and the adventure seems to be over..

But no, they both take an exam for becoming keyblade masters. Riku goes through it trying to understand himself and how he feels about Sora and his darkness. He becomes a dream eater for his prince,

Who says princesses can't do rescuing too?

In Recoded, Riku gets kidnapped by Maleficent and Pete and Sora his prince goes in search to save him.

His next journey arrives when he goes through the realm of darkness to search for a missing keyblade wielder. And when Riku is against her he calls out Sora's name and Sora, his prince comes to the rescue. Together they help free her from the darkness. Then after Riku sacrifices himself for Sora, Sora saves him by putting his heart back to his body.

And Riku is on his way to find his prince once again at the end of KH3... His adventure is still ongoing...

Fairytale Parallels

There are so many fairytale Parallels in Kingdom Hearts. Riku sacrificing himself with every little things reflecting a Disney princess.

In the beginning Riku wishes to explore other worlds and leave his island. Many of the Disney princesses also expressed this desire.

Ariel—who is basically a scholar, wants to know more as well as go to the human world.

Belle wants to go on an adventure that's more than her simple everyday life.

Rapunzel wants to go outside to see the world but also see floating lanterns.

Anna— who has barely any social interaction, is tired of being shut away from the world and wants to also experience it.

Riku also gets tricked/manipulated by darkness. While the other princess don't become an antagonist for the first game like he does, they do get tricked or manipulated.

Ursula tricks Ariel into signing a contract to make her into a human where Ursula hopes to eventually become the ruler of Atlantica when Triton trades places with her.

The evil queen manipulates Snow White into taking a bite of her apple after feeling bad for her.

Maleficent tricks Aurora into touching the spindle of the spinning wheel, causing her to die.

Mother Gothel manipulates and gaslights Rapunzel through her entire upbringing.

Raya gets tricked by Namaari into showing her the chamber with the magical gem

Anna gets tricked by Hans into thinking he's the one so he could rule her kingdom.

Riku makes sacrifices throughout the series like when he does it for Sora in kh3 or even sacrificing his form when fighting Roxas to wake Sora up. In general he sacrifices himself for Sora, as well does Sora sacrifice himself too and there are also many princesses who also make sacrifices

Mulan, wanting to protect her father, she sacrifices herself when she takes his place in the war.

While he's not technically a Disney prince, Hercules sacrifices himself to make the dive and save Meg. Hercules also gave up his strength for her but she pushed him out of the way of a pillar to then save him as well. This relates how Sora and Riku both constantly sacrifice for the other.

Anna sacrifices herself for Elsa by freezing to death.

Belle sacrifices her freedom to save her father.

Rapunzel was willing to sacrifice her freedom to save Flynn's life.

And there we have it, I'm sure there are many more examples then what I said but Riku is a Disney princess and should definitely be added to the line up.

Ryou and Riku Are The Same! (just differently)

In the latter half of Third Beat of IDOLiSH7 Ryou approaches Riku (after countless of hours spent researching and watching him) with a thought-provoking sentence: You and I are the same. I'm you and you're me.

To a normal i7 fan it might come off as a stretch or as one of the infinite amounts of Ryou's manipulations BUT hear me (Tsukumo Ryou pfp) out...

UNDER THE CUT. IT GOT REALLY LONG.

Ryou was raised emotionally abused/neglected by parents (calling himself an "overlooked talent", mentioning to Shiro that his family hated him) which led to all of this (vague hand gesture). And to Ryou's knowledge Riku suffered just about the same — but what Ryou knows is only the surface of what was happening to Riku.

While looking at Riku's "abandoned by family" the initial assumption is that they did Not like him or even neglected him — which is the assumption that Ryou makes since it's the most likely one, which leads to him making the comment in the first place. But we as an audience know that everything about surface-level information is coated with layers of nuance.

Riku is loved by his parents, and adored, protected and always pampered by his brother. All of the attention of this world was given to Riku — in a deep contrast to Ryou being constantly overlooked by his relatives. Yet since Ryou doesn't have insight into the inner relationships of the family he doesn't see how different they are.

Then how are they the same?

Both lack and abundance of attention can cause the same kinds of traits to manifest — selfishness, seeking attention, constantly proving oneself to others — as well as give near-identical core beliefs.

Riku has the ability to connect to other people's hearts, one that was prevalent in his childhood, with receiving love from a giving brother and parents. Riku draws people in, to feel the sense of connection, collective emotion that's dependent on its center (Riku). (Insert Iori's analysis here, but basically — if Riku were to need anything, all people affected would rush to provide it, selflessly without any regard for their own safety/emotion)

Ryou has the ability to read people, which was, and I'm speculating on the material given, a vital thing in his childhood since the lack of emotion/presence made him far and distant from people's experiences, but very close to knowing How people Work. Ryou draws people in, in the sense of knowing how to make them walk into his grip, to manipulate for own gain later. (If Ryou needed anything — he'd make all people affected get it for him, without any regard for their own safety/emotion)

And to that extent, both of them are monsters.

And when Ryou notices Riku, he connects with him too, but on a deeper level than anybody else. Riku to him is like a younger version of himself he can still save (hence the "I'll protect you" thing he said, and generally his tone and expressions dramatically shift to more sincere ones than the voices and expressions he does for Momo/other people), because Riku is both still young and hasn't had as much disappointment with other people as him.

But in spite of Ryou thinking that Riku and he are the same, Ryou doesn't have what Riku has.

He barely gets noticed (pt3 ep1, he is not doing anything loudly and weirdly in public, and naturally doesn't get noticed. or when he does it's in context of bothering Momo), which leads to grander and more dangerous outbursts over time (in contrast to Riku, who is, by design, more vibrant and noticeable, as well as a magnet for people, and the attention he gets increases with more joy and fun and popularity of i7).

All of the people Ryou was with, at one point or another abandoned him (IDOLiSH7 as a group consists of people all of which (except Riku, I think) thought about quitting but ultimately didn't, and the journey to the conclusion made the bonds even stronger).

And both of these points lead to weirdness, coldness and sadism on Ryou's part — which to a larger extent turn people away from Ryou and make them hate him even more.

And the speed at which this hate happens matches the speed of Riku receiving more and more love in First Beat. And the core reasons for which all of Ryou's plan happens Match Riku's core reasons.

Riku is selfish — it's about him proving himself to his brother (and to the entire world, for that extent), about him having fun, about him being loved and appreciated For What He Can Do and Not Being Underestimated, about him being in the center of it (the whole Perfection Gimmick thing is the proof of it).

Ryou is selfish — it's about him proving his skills to his family ("i'm [insert skill] yet they still kept choosing my older brother"), about him getting his revenge, about him being noticed as he stands atop of the now useless and hated idol corpses, about him being in the center of it.

Riku craves attention and love to the same extent Ryou does, and Ryou feels like people overlook him and his capabilities to the same extent Riku does.

And what Ryou read through Riku, and what Riku felt through Ryou, is mutual, both of them the same, even if they're different.

Tangents I went off on that felt like they didn't fit in the text:

Riku and Ryou are ZOOL

What Antagonistic Quartet establishes is that Ryou, in one way or another, relates to/resembles all members of ZOOL in their fears and insecurities (rich of him to mock them for being dependent on external validation when deep down he is the same).

But, applying the Riku = Ryou to it, you can see that Riku pretty much connects to ZOOL in this way too. He wants revenge (on Kujo Sr.) (as Haruka), he wants for people to Have expectations of him and not just be worried about him (as Torao), he wants to keep singing with teammates for fans who will cheer him on (as Touma), he wants to keep pursuing what he wants to (as Minami)...

And while Riku is a manifestation of these wants that gets presented with IDOLiSH7's innocence and fun, ZOOL shows the audience the uglier and more aggressive side of it, which is valid in its openness and sincerity. And they coexist well.

Chaos, Zero and black holes

Fuck! So, Riku = Ryou and Riku = Zero. You see where this is going.

Zero in his hurried leave left chaos and uncertainty, and by Kujo Sr.'s concerns, Riku, with the same ability to influence other people, might turn out the same. I honestly don't remember where I was going with this. I wrote this bullet point at 5 AM and I'm looking back at it with a confused expression.

The Ryou thing is too vague

What we know of Ryou is limited to imagination and thoughts based on what he (and others) share about him. These points:

He was not a "family pet" (mentioned by himself in antagonistic quartet section 2)

His family didn't love him (mentioned by Shiro and himself, Momo too iirc)

highlight that he is vastly different from Riku, then how did he make such a good assessment of character?

As antagonistic quartet shows, Ryou can not only dig up surface-level information, but also background info as well.

(in AQ we see that he Does dig deep to strike the most painful spot. also another tangent -- how. how did he find 4 talented people. did he consistently go and scan for them with his people-reading skills only to (obvious in Haruka's case) stalk them until they're at their worst??? to provide a helping hand??? BUT ALSO. to know that at one point of time there were people that experienced the same kind of pain as he did. and many more felt seen and heard by ZOOL's songs after that. im going to cry. he did connect. in his own way)

SO, continuing on Riku, he probably Had asked people who worked at Nanase family's place or were close to them and found out all about the relationship they had. Let's entertain the thought of him going this deep and Knowing that Riku and he, in fact, were not treated the same by their families.

My ultimate Reach with this is that it either A. didn't matter to him when the end is the same - being abandoned (which was a recurring thing to Ryou) or B. twisted itself into an even unhealthier connection.

point A is obvious. point B:

Ryou's family Did do good things for him. like, Zero concert. listen there's not many examples and this is my "reach" segment i get to. i get to reach. But even in its good it was bad behind the scenes. And since he can't literally intrude inside Riku's head he can't really know if what others said about his relations with family was true or just keeping appearances of a happy family.

So, how is their friendship going to pan out?

I feel like even if Momo didn't exist as an obstacle it just wouldn't pan out for them. Momo and Riku share the same sentiment of having complicated feelings towards a person (Banri and Tenn respectively), which don't reach Ryou's calculating heart. (It's easier to hide away Banri and bury Tenn into the ground than confront feelings that may require one to reflect on own concerns and emotions)

And even then, Ryou is very quick to change gears if anything unpleasant happens (which would just quickly lead to unproductive destruction, as it did with Momo -- and it also happened with Riku because that "I'll protect you" changed into "You too will betray me"). I feel like in pt 4 the development they had while barely interacting in person amounts to a greater effect because both recognize the abilities that they have, and Riku gets to tell him a piece of his mind.

yes ryou idols can be selfish and dreaming in itself is selfish. dreaming can lead to hurting others and being hurt. but its okay

it's also something that they share in that aspect -- ryou is afraid of being hurt (even in his coldness he is fragile) and riku is afraid of hurting others (even in his selfishness he wants people to be happy)

Weapons Are Not Toys

Tenzo x Reader

Synopsis: Tenzo was supposed to watch your four-year-old son while you took a much-needed nap. But the child found something not meant for kids.

Tenzo bit his lip as he read over the mission report once more. His group had just returned from a mission, and he had only a couple of days to finish the report and give it to Lady Tsunade. The ticking clock was the only sound he heard in the entire house-

Wait.

“Oh shit,” Tenzo's curse fell from his lips as he looked up from the paper. His son wasn't in his line of sight, causing him to shoot up from his spot on the couch. He started to panic the more he moved through the house. Where was Riku? He wasn't in his room or the playroom and hadn't crawled in with you in the main bedroom…

Tenzo froze in the hallway, eyes casting to his office where all his Shinobi gear was housed. The door was slightly opened, and his heart plummeted into his stomach as he raced towards the room. Riku jumped from his spot on the floor as the door slammed against the wall. Tenzo’s ANBU mask was haphazardly on his son's head, but one side of his face wasn't covered, allowing him to see his son's wide-eyed expression. Tenzo inhaled sharply as he took in the way Riku held the shiruken and kunai in his little hands - panic raced through him as he realized how badly Riku could have been hurt if he was a couple of minutes too late.

“Hi, Daddy! See, I’m just like you!!” 

Tenzo raced towards his son and gently took the weapons from his hands, “Buddy, you can't be in here, and you cannot touch these things….”

“But you do, Daddy-”

“Yes, Daddy does touch them, but I know how to handle them so I don't get hurt. Please do not touch them again.” 

Your son nodded, but his lip warbled a little in fear that his father was disappointed in him. He just wanted to be like him. Tenzo cooed before setting the weapons aside and scooping him up in his embrace, “Hey, it's alright, buddy. I just don't want you to get hurt. You scared me.”

Riku nodded as he bowed his head. The ANBU mask, far too large for the four-year-old, fell more onto his face, effectively hiding his sad expression. Tenzo smiled at the sight, finding it quite adorable that he wanted to be just like him. “I will say, you do look pretty cool in this mask, bud!”

Riku’s eyes widened in excitement as he perked up in his father's arms, “You think so!!” His little cheer caused Tenzo’s heart to soar. He never thought he’d have kids, never thought it would be wise given his line of work. But moments like this, where his son reminds him of the good in the world, are the moments that make him proud to be a father. Tenzo reached up and moved the mask to cover his son's face entirely. His son's ooh’s and aah’s were muffled as he tried to look through the eye holes. “What do you say we go show Mommy your mask?” 

He nodded excitedly but huffed as the mask almost fell off from the motion. Tenzo laughed before readjusting it and heading for the main bedroom. You would find the mask on Riku to be adorable; Tenzo will just leave out the part where he was holding his weapons as well…

Two things that I adore about the Kingdom Hearts VR Experience, mainly because I just love Kairi way too much and will always eat up any "new" content I can get with her. I've been meaning to make this post for a while.

I love the different angles on the one Destiny Trio scene from KH1 (that really, of course, they had to do for this, because Sora's somewhat removed from the scene, as you are Sora, so to speak in this VR experience). It's just really cool and interesting to see, for a number of reasons. The Riku and Kairi moments in this scene in particular are really nice to get a new perspective on. I also wouldn't be surprised, if vidders could use this scene in an amv and pretend it's a different KH1 memory--to pretend and give us more KH1 scenes of the Destiny Trio's past--as opposed to one we already had from different angles:

2. In the one KHII scene, where Xemnas is somewhat trying to manipulate our heroes with his "what other choice might we (Nobodies) have had? We, who were turned away by both Light and Dark" speech, in the original scene, Kairi had fish face/default face, whatever fandom term you want to use refer to it. A.K.A., they left her face unanimated there:

But in the VR version of this scene, they've gone back in and animated it, so it's nice and expressive. Which, of course, you love to see:)

The fan on the ceiling spins in lazy circles--it’s off-track, threatening to fall at any moment--and does little more than push warm air around instead of actually doing anything to cool the moisture that sticks to both of their skins. 

Riku’s body is warm, uncomfortably so, but it feels like heaven whenever their sweat-slickened flesh touches, and like a teenage boy again, he has to hold back or burst too soon whenever they collide. 

His fingers graze against a soft cheek in adoration, thumb brushing against the apple of Sora’s face before dipping down and caressing his lips. The brunet’s mouth drops open automatically and Riku barely suppresses a groan as his thumb dips into the wet cavern.

The bed the pair are on is barely suitable for one still-developing teenager, let alone two nearly grown boys, but they squish together in a tangle of limbs and make it work. Sora’s lean arms wrap around Riku’s torso loosely, and Riku’s got one leg shoved between Sora’s own, while his arm serves as a makeshift pillow for the two of them.

The fan spins in lazy circles, its soft creaking the only thing in the room that’s louder than their heavy sighs and sharp intakes of breath as the two boys somehow shift closer. 

It’s both too much and not enough. It might never be enough, and Riku’s a greedy man. He’ll always want more.

Sora has freckles dusted on his cheeks, a smattering of them on the bridge of his nose as well, and Riku swears the stars in the sky pale in comparison to the sight before him now. 

Riku hooks his thumb so the pad is pressed hard against Sora’s sinfully pink tongue. 

Blue eyes roll backwards for a moment before perfect lips wrap around his thumb and he feels a gentle suction around the digit. 

Riku crooks his thumb again, the rest of his fingers sliding down to cup up under Sora’s chin and dragging the younger man towards him before their mouths crash together. Like an obedient dog on a leash, Sora eagerly follows, mouth still open and ready for the tongue that shoves its way past his incisors. 

Sora’s fingers are digging into his back, nails prickling uncomfortably into the skin, and Riku has never felt anything closer to love than this.

If you don't know what Tokyo Treat, Bokksu, and/or Sakuraco are, they're a team of people who make and deliver Japanese snack boxes that contain a variety of different snacks (Sakuraco does traditional snacks while the other two contain regular snacks like chips and sodas) to people far and wide.

Riku's mouth waters whenever he sees the snack box you've prepared for him

He's so thankful his asthma doesn't flare up with certain foods...as far as he's aware

Riku definitely has his favorite snacks out of all that you packed, and straightforwardly requests you always include them, plus he likes it more when you eat it together! Just on the couch relaxing and eating your snacks after his day at work

Sometimes he shares with the rest of the group and sometimes Tamaki takes some without getting permission first, prompting Iori to tell him to hide his snack box unless some of it needs to be refrigerated

He'll never pressure you to make one, as they feel more like gifts out of love than obligation

Riku's favorite treat is the mochi!

Kujo Tenn

With how busy he is, he still recognizes that a balanced lunch is essential, yet sometimes doesn't get the chance to make one, so when you generously surprise him with food, he's left almost speechless

He feels like he owes you, and promises to at least make you one homemade meal in return whenever he gets the chance to

Did i mention he's in love with you--whether eating it at your house or at work, he truly starts to feel like you two are family. If you keep this up he may consider moving in with you to have your cooking everyday

Tenn really enjoys the authentic Japanese candy and teas. It soothes both his sweet tooth and calms him depending on what kind of tea it is

He gets a bit shy (and annoyed-) if one of his group members notice that he's eating one of your snack boxes, especially if its filled with sweets and candy with cute mascots on it

His favorite treat is the Hakata Minorika Strawberry Chocolate

Yaotome Gaku

You're making lunch for him like the two of you are married? Are you trying to make him pass away?

He'd eat anything you make for him even if its bad (which it thankfully isn't)

Gaku especially enjoys them on dance practice days where he's significantly tired and needs a pick-me-up, usually eating them while sitting on the floor of the room (and thinking about you-)

Sometimes he'll use excuses to brag;

"Oh Gaku, did you want to go out to get something to eat?"

"No I'm good, (Y/N) packed a lunch for me."

He always promises he'll save you some to share for when he gets home and ends up eating it all, but at least its a compliement that he did

His favorite is the Hokkaido Jaga Pakupaku

one day he surprises you with a lunch box of his own for you!

It isn't snacks though, its hot food thats probably more suited for dinner, but he felt thats what he was better at cooking.

Aside from that, its adorable how his face lights up when opening your lunch boxes to eat, whether you're there to see it or not. His fellow group members have even start to be able to tell before or after he's eaten it

He's a bit biased now and would rather have your lunch boxes than lunch anywhere else when on his break

Since youre always making lunches for him, you two have an agreement (suggest by him since he feels you're doing a lot by providing him with them nearly daily) that he cooks dinner for you when he has time just to make it fair

His favorite is the dog cookie box!

I think the cutest thing about Hisako’s artwork (besides post-canon Sessrin family goodness!) is how accurately it depicts how the family dynamic would work 😭😭😭👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Look at the seriousness in which Sess watches Rin doing something as simple as peeling oranges😅 she is literally doing the most Normal and Domestic thing possible but as far as Sess is concerned it is of the OUTMOST IMPORTANCE™️ and thus requires every fiber of his attention and involvement - if this is an important human tradition to Rin, he’s going to be So Intense about it

Meanwhile look at how Rin is blushing!!! Yes she entirely aware that Sess is being 100% more enraptured than he probably should be that finds it adorable! Classic Sess behavior as far as she’s concerned. And her smile shows that she is simply THRILLED to finally be doing family activities with everyone she loves 😭😭 can you imagine??? Little orphan girl Rin who last had a new years celebration with her parents, now gets to host one with her own children🥺🥺🥺🥺

Setsuna of course is no longer a stoic as she used to be, but I also see her as emulating her dad a bit here😅they’re both looking at members of their family with such love and care (and her specifically mirroring Sess I absolutely believe is supposed to help viewers know that Sess is very happy in this scene (yknow…for those who are unable to read Sess’s expressions no matter how many times it’s explained to them🙄))

Towa being Towa 😂😂😂😂but also, I like how she’s passed out (drunk? Who knows! It’s funny even if she’s not) because in the present day Towa’s tried so hard to be responsible and put together…….now she’s happily the goofball of the family. (Her lil Riku charm I’m cry😭)

Also someone pointed out on Twitter that Kilala is an official Sessrin Family adoptee❤️imagine if you will that she’s got her own room while Inuyasha doesn’t 🤭🤭🤭 AND LOOK AT JAKEN! He’s finally getting a chance to relax after years of trying to reunite the family - you go Master Jaken! (And he already has a peeled orange🥺Rin is so nice to him😫😫😫😫)

I’m convinced Towa brought these from the present world btw - her parents are using traditional cups but THESE ARE FOR HER AND SETSUNA I wanna see what kind of face Sess made lmaooooo Rin probably love them so that means they’re sacred cups now - if they so much as get knicked Sess will raise hell. Towa can buy new ones but shhhhh no baby, these are SACRED CUPS

RMPG Shirtless Crew

I've got the numbers for - I guess 😂 - the official Rampage Shirtless Crew membership. Yes, this is what I spent my Sunday doing 😂

Of the music videos analyzed, everyone has 33 MV appearances - the vocalists don't appear in Performer's DNA, but the performers don't appear in KIMIOMOU, so it balances out.

I feel like there should be pictures in here, but it's genuinely just solid text, sorry 😅 And I have work tomorrow, so I'm going to bed soon.

Here is the criteria:

Member is visibly shirtless - either with nothing on top or it is obvious that they are not wearing a shirt under a closed jacket or vest (exception: unless everyone is not wearing a shirt under a closed jacket or vest (e.g. Summer Riot). If the standard uniform is sans shirt, only people who deliberately open the vest or jacket are counted, such as Kaisei, Shogo, Zin, etc. in Summer Riot)

Or if member is wearing a shirt, it is open enough to see a significant portion of the chest. I had it at 50% or more of the chest visible as the criteria, so Heatwave counts for both Riku and Itsuki

Or member specifically lifts their shirt to reveal their chest, such as Riku in Fandango or Itsuki in 100degrees

Only MVs that have been released with physical albums or singles were counted, which means MVs that are, as far as I can tell, only available online were not counted. (so ハジマリノウタ was not counted, as it's only available as a documentary video online, for example) (However, that is still a good watch of a MV because it shows them being adorable and tiny)

First things first, shout out to the Never Shirtless Crew: Kenta, YamaSho, Ryu and Takahide. They have met the criteria for shirtlessness in 0 MVs. Takahide's so determined to keep his shirt on, he jumped into the pool fully fucking clothed in Welcome 2 Paradise.

Hokuto and Rui both almost made the Never Shirtless Crew - Hokuto's streak was broken by Living in the Dream and Rui's streak was broken by Silver Rain. They have both been shirtless once in the 33 MVs analyzed.

Shogo, Shohei and Makoto each had 2. Shogo's shirtless showings were the two most recent MVs, Summer Riot and Everest. Shohei was shirtless in Summer Riot and he also removed his shirt to go in the pool in Welcome 2 Paradise. Makoto was shirtless for .002 seconds in Mix It Up and he was also shirtless in Fears for the shots with the wing body paint.

Takuma and Kazuma are both at 3. Takuma's shirtless showings are Summer Riot, Silver Rain and Hard Hit, while Kazuma's shirtless showings are Round Up, Living in the Dream and La Fiesta.

And then we get to the Shirtless Crew 😂 I am counting the Shirtless Crew as members who met the criteria 20% or more of the time.

Tied for fourth place in the Shirtless Olympics, we have Riku and Itsuki, each with 8 MVs meeting the criteria, giving them both a solid 24% shirtlessness.

In third place, we have Zin! He was tied with Riku until I started going through the Battle of Tokyo MVs, where Zin is shirtless in 5 out of 5 MVs. 😂 Well done, buddy. Zin has 12 MVs meeting the criteria, for being shirtless 36% of the time (unless it's Battle of Tokyo and then it's 100% of the time 😂)

In second place, we have Likiya! 13 MVs met the criteria for him and he was shirtless 39% of the time.

And in first place, we have the member who has actually, literally won a "beauty and body" contest to find the best looking man in Japan for summer - Kaisei! 14 MVs met the criteria for him, having him be shirtless 42% of the time.

So, the "official"(?) members of the Shirtless Crew are Kaisei, Likiya, Zin, Riku and Itsuki. (So the oldest three, the last 97 and the first 98 😂 Apparently it's an age cluster thing)

@elenilote Your predictions were correct! It's just Kaisei's shirtlessness was more predominant earlier in their career and Riku's shirtlessness is more predominant recently, so I found Riku's shirtlessness moments earlier
