I’ve recently seen a lot of people complain excessively about ships or things being OOC. Which there’s nothing wrong with it especially if it personally annoys you, but i consistently see it turn into fandom wide discourse. Which doesn’t make sense to me because fiction often times is in the eye of the interpreter.

Fiction is not nearly as objective as fandom spaces like to pretend. Half the time we don’t know who was written as why and no interpretation is Inherently more correct (although some may be… out there.) i also complain off handedly and vaguely about interpretations I find odd and offensive, my hands are not clean, but I also do try to be open.

also it honestly doesnt matter because theyre fictional and you can whine about poor media literacy all day but fiction exists to make people happy. Doesnt have to be more than that, even if it is to you.

I think there was a phenomenon in like, 2020, where people got stuck inside and fandom became EVEN MORE mainstream. Now discourse has always been a thing and is probably better now, but I keep noticing that we are expected to have the most objective common takes of character or its wrong.
