"Since you've named yourself after Julius fucking Caesar, perhaps I'll follow in your lead and choose one of the conspirators." "Interesting," says Giuliano. "Should I worry about finding you at the center of some kind of conspiracy that ends with my death?" "Not from me," replies Ascanio. He sounds tired. "Not anymore."
informally, some kind of. conversational follow up to the last comic. I'm trying to get the atmospheric conversational whimsy out of my system because I have a vision of the vatican as a body in active decay, a point of infection spreading out and poisoning the well, a jaw unhinged that people walk into over and over, and I am so close to figure out how to convey this visually. maybe.

Machete at the Olympics what will he do??
Well he's anything but fit and athletic, he doesn't have strength or stamina, and even as a sighthound his running speed leaves a lot to be desired. He has low cold tolerance so that rules out most winter sports, and he's not much of a team player. He is very precise and has great fine motor skills so I was thinking of shooting, but I'd imagine you need good eyesight for that, and he's nearsighted with astigmatism and lower than average depth perception. In modern au he wears contacts and they help him noticeably, but because his vision problems are caused by albinism, they can't be fully corrected with surgery or glasses. Fencing might be an option, it's mostly about concentration, strategy, speed and accuracy. It would also neatly tie in to their canon setting, since to my understanding a lot of the principles of modern fencing are based on 16th century Italian sword fighting techniques. But that's just a guess, I'm not that familiar with the sport at all, or how physically demanding it actually is.

I know I’m posting about the issue two days late, but I do have two (2) serious thoughts about this honestly ridiculous situation. One of them is that my heart truly goes out for actual gay people inside seminars. It’s funny to us, but I can’t imagine how they feel right now.
These are people who have faith, not only in God but in the institution of the Church. These are people who truly trust it and want to take part in helping strengthen and spread the catholic faith. Maybe they’re even people who have found solace in side-b beliefs, who decided that their gayness was a calling to abstinence and priesthood.
How betrayed and desolate they must feel now. What a bucket of cold water to the head to realize you can change yourself however you want, dedicate your whole life to Christ, to the Church, and they still won’t see you any differently.
You cannot try to be ‘one of the good queers’. There is no such a thing to them

August, 1315: The Ezzo Farm
Tumblr media
While much of Tartosa was spared from the worst of the famine that was rumored to be ravaging other kingdoms? The Ezzo farm was still running into difficulties. Their animals had all died out and their crops have yet to take.
It was by the grace of the Watcher that others still have been able to keep their crops and livestock alive. While their community was more than willing to help each other, however, everything would be more expensive. That combined with their taxes to the empire and tithes to the church... Would make life difficult.

On the bright side, Vanna was able to sell what they still had left over for a higher price as well as paying higher prices for the things they needed. And she also had more time for her hobbies; preparing clothes for the new baby using the time she would have spent chasing after livestock.

Speaking of her pregnancy, things were growing difficult. She'd never been pregnant before, but she wondered if it was normal to feel so dizzy and weak all of the time? To not be able to get through her simple, daily chores?
She knew many women (including her own mother) who had no such issues. . . But they also had more food on their tables. . .
She decided to keep her worries to herself. Her husband had enough on his plate and had already lost all of his children and his previous wife. She couldn't bring herself to distress him when it could be nothing.

always surprised to see people illustrate C— wearing a habit. Many orders of nuns wear them, but many don’t, and most of the out-and-about nuns I’ve met have been in plainclothes. I don’t tend to picture C— as a habit-wearer; she feels much more like a sweaters-and-slacks nun to me.

Guys how blasphemous is it for Nausicaä to be born on All Saints Day, or let alone any witch, as it's a Christian solemnity celebrated in honor of all saints of the church, whether known or unknown.
Also known as All Hallows Day / the Feast of All Saints / Feast of All Hallows / Solemnity of All Saints / Hallowmas.
But in a way, perhaps not blasphemous to her believers and to her followers? Saints can be dark and not necessarily holy ( thinking along the lines of The Unholy Trinity: the devil, the false prophet, the anti ), and being as Nausicaä represents the anti, it's like a backwards saint -- a halo in reverse.
