"Since you've named yourself after Julius fucking Caesar, perhaps I'll follow in your lead and choose one of the conspirators." "Interesting," says Giuliano. "Should I worry about finding you at the center of some kind of conspiracy that ends with my death?" "Not from me," replies Ascanio. He sounds tired. "Not anymore."
informally, some kind of. conversational follow up to the last comic. I'm trying to get the atmospheric conversational whimsy out of my system because I have a vision of the vatican as a body in active decay, a point of infection spreading out and poisoning the well, a jaw unhinged that people walk into over and over, and I am so close to figure out how to convey this visually. maybe.
#not that there's anything wrong with atmospheric whimsy but i kind of want to get into the gross body horror of it all#literally. allegorically. for the vibes. its just hard to pin down the abstract thought of 'oh we should High Rise the Vatican' you know#(High Rise by JG Ballard is what i'm referring to here) like how do I achieve this. well. first. is i must lay out the vatican and become#intimate with the visual set pieces. then i can talk about how this building could literally be hazardous to your health#however. drawing the vatican. is very. uhhhh. man I do not know enough about medieval-renaissance architecture to be inventing#anything and that one book that collected interiors of rooms and houses in renaissance art is NEVER ANYWHERE EVER#and if it is then it's always around when i cannot afford it. i feel like i am in a specific kind of torment torture box#i will not be defeated tho. i can design a vatican through other means.#ANYWAY. i think antidepressants would've made ascanio an unstoppable menace in the vatican#there's a bunch of stuff being referenced here but my pdf reader does not want to cooperate with me so basically we're playing around with#ascanio's household staff (alessandro) that whole thing wrt to ascanio & acts of piety/charity (such as covering dowries etc)#uh. that's it! this time i didn't accidentally call giuliano by his brother's name. which is . sherhhg. so there's a fic i was writing.#italian renaissance tag#komiks tag

Machete at the Olympics what will he do??
Well he's anything but fit and athletic, he doesn't have strength or stamina, and even as a sighthound his running speed leaves a lot to be desired. He has low cold tolerance so that rules out most winter sports, and he's not much of a team player. He is very precise and has great fine motor skills so I was thinking of shooting, but I'd imagine you need good eyesight for that, and he's nearsighted with astigmatism and lower than average depth perception. In modern au he wears contacts and they help him noticeably, but because his vision problems are caused by albinism, they can't be fully corrected with surgery or glasses. Fencing might be an option, it's mostly about concentration, strategy, speed and accuracy. It would also neatly tie in to their canon setting, since to my understanding a lot of the principles of modern fencing are based on 16th century Italian sword fighting techniques. But that's just a guess, I'm not that familiar with the sport at all, or how physically demanding it actually is.
#I realize this was a joke ask but it was a fun question so you get a needlessly thorough answer#although in modern au he's not a priest at all so he would have no business representing Vatican#answered#ninotc#Vasco would probably be into equestrian but I'm not sure which discipline#maybe eventing? it's the horse triathlon#the whole nine yards

I know I’m posting about the issue two days late, but I do have two (2) serious thoughts about this honestly ridiculous situation. One of them is that my heart truly goes out for actual gay people inside seminars. It’s funny to us, but I can’t imagine how they feel right now.
These are people who have faith, not only in God but in the institution of the Church. These are people who truly trust it and want to take part in helping strengthen and spread the catholic faith. Maybe they’re even people who have found solace in side-b beliefs, who decided that their gayness was a calling to abstinence and priesthood.
How betrayed and desolate they must feel now. What a bucket of cold water to the head to realize you can change yourself however you want, dedicate your whole life to Christ, to the Church, and they still won’t see you any differently.
You cannot try to be ‘one of the good queers’. There is no such a thing to them
#my post#obviously I think many of them are there bc they have an actual calling#bc I believe people’s sexuality doesn’t influence the chance of God calling them to service at all. unlike the Vatican apparently#pls don’t stone me for this! pls pls pls#I’ve seen this tagged as#pope francis catholic faggotry crisis#which to me is awesome

August, 1315: The Ezzo Farm
While much of Tartosa was spared from the worst of the famine that was rumored to be ravaging other kingdoms? The Ezzo farm was still running into difficulties. Their animals had all died out and their crops have yet to take.
It was by the grace of the Watcher that others still have been able to keep their crops and livestock alive. While their community was more than willing to help each other, however, everything would be more expensive. That combined with their taxes to the empire and tithes to the church... Would make life difficult.
On the bright side, Vanna was able to sell what they still had left over for a higher price as well as paying higher prices for the things they needed. And she also had more time for her hobbies; preparing clothes for the new baby using the time she would have spent chasing after livestock.
Speaking of her pregnancy, things were growing difficult. She'd never been pregnant before, but she wondered if it was normal to feel so dizzy and weak all of the time? To not be able to get through her simple, daily chores?
She knew many women (including her own mother) who had no such issues. . . But they also had more food on their tables. . .
She decided to keep her worries to herself. Her husband had enough on his plate and had already lost all of his children and his previous wife. She couldn't bring herself to distress him when it could be nothing.
#it's pregnancy anemia#which fits SCARY well with the famine#also from my brief research Rome DID get hit by the famine#but not all of Italy did#then again it could be wrong#“Europe” is a little vague#Tartosa is more Rome based in my save though because it has the HRE and it used to have the Vatican#and will again in the future#ts4#sims 4#the sims 4#sims 4 ultimate decades challenge#ultimate decades challenge#udc#morbid's ultimate decades challenge#tartosa#1315#1315 tartosa#the great famine#ezzo family

always surprised to see people illustrate C— wearing a habit. Many orders of nuns wear them, but many don’t, and most of the out-and-about nuns I’ve met have been in plainclothes. I don’t tend to picture C— as a habit-wearer; she feels much more like a sweaters-and-slacks nun to me.
#the locked tomb#cristabel oct#do not search which orders wear habits#unless you want to read a bunch of really unpleasant people shitting on orders that switched over post-Vatican 2

i'm halfway through updating my vatican trio spreadsheet with the official TL, and i'm laughing bc the difference is just so
#a transmigrator's privilege#the perks of being an s class heroine#vatican trio#ephael is a polite young man confirmed#ah. i forget to include hestio calling ailette an onion#*forgot#i still havent figured out who calls ailette by name and who by title but the way things are going#its probably ephael who tends to refer to her by title and hestio just switches it up depending on his mood #also hestio & ailette have pretty similar character voices tbh#there were a couple of lines in the fan TL that i couldnt tell who it was#bc they can both be snarky#also the funny thing abt this table is that. tesilid DOES swear more than ephael#TESILID ARGENTE.#in the mirror dungeon he swore in front of ash and hestio and ephael didnt blink so i assume its a thing he did pre regression as well#which is crazy how is tesilid swearing more than ephael#edit: both hestio and ephael call the higher ups 'old farts'. the only time ephael is rude and its bc of the religious order 😭

I gotta do some editing because I've been putting it off for WEEKS but also I did read about the current nuclear armament climate and I need to lay face down in moss until the forest takes me.
#anyway i need to finish this book so I can work on my other much larger project.#which is absolutely a thinly-veiled analogue for nuclear warfare#it's fine we don't have to talk about it i just think about this everyday of my life#know that if you ever passively wonder what's on my mind it's probably the state of nuclear armament worldwide.#I am considering changing my icon for the election year to the nuclear jesus statue in the Vatican.#there are two things the Vatican and I agree on wholeheartedly when much of America fails me#and those things are nuclear armament and capital punishment. anyway#ANYWAY.

If anime has taught me one thing, it’s that mofos named “Enrico” should be taken down on the SPOT
#FINALy finished Hellsing Ultimate Abridged after literal years of dragging my heels#which in turn got me to dip back into the actual show#(great series btw)#and man Enrico Maxwell is a crazy mf.#in the abridged the dude was regretful of the Vatican’s association with Millienium but in the original? dude gloats about it#Fucking full on glee and shit. alongside his other crazy shit we see later. man’s a happy Nazi ally.#Other Enrico is Enrico Pucci and that speaks for itself#dude resetted the universe via some straight biblical horror shit just because his 100+ year old vamp groomer told him to#alongside all the other stuff he did like murdering Jolyne’s crew#his own brother included#overall if ya meet a guy named Enrico then gun him down with max prejudice#enrico maxwell#enrico pucci#hellsing#hellsing ultimate#jojo's bizarre adventure#stone ocean

The fact that on game nights I'm still milking the pope saying frociaggine for all it's worth
#i speak italian so I'm allowed to make offensive italian accent jokes about faggotry in the Vatican while playing jackbox games#of course as a lifelong non christian my impression of catholicism not too far off of anime catholicism which makes it funnier#my closest thing to knowledge of the bible comes from the qur'an because I've actually read that#i just think it's really funny as an usamerican to continue not having read the bible like say no to cultural christianity

saw a post a while ago talking abt the for fun idea of samarie being related to caligura in some way (post was specifically abt her being his niece i think ?) and i didnt rlly think abt it much then but now its haunting me. could you imagine
#one samarie would have connections to the mob which is rlly funny but the REAL thing is the implications of her family situation then#rn im operating off the idea that she was an orphan that got handpicked by the ninth circle to sit in a dark room and wither away for her--#--entire short life but the idea that she has a family who GAVE her to that (and even more so if the family is the mob! then theres the--#--whole consolidation of power and its abuse by the religious going on even more in the vatican city) is NAUSEATING. caligura wouldnt--#--recognize her in this hypothetical bc shes been away her whole life + never rlly connected to any of his shit but could u imagine if he--#--did. the fuck is my weird ass niece who is supposed to be locked up channeling magic or whatever doing here ???????#devising the worst nonplayable team up possible. caligura samarie pavel and august. caligura constantly bristling under the other two mens--#--clear authority over the situation pavel and august eyeing each other like wary cats bc they do not know WHY the other is looking for--#--the kaiser and samarie sweating in the background like ummm. um. can we look for marina now. please .

Guys how blasphemous is it for Nausicaä to be born on All Saints Day, or let alone any witch, as it's a Christian solemnity celebrated in honor of all saints of the church, whether known or unknown.
Also known as All Hallows Day / the Feast of All Saints / Feast of All Hallows / Solemnity of All Saints / Hallowmas.
But in a way, perhaps not blasphemous to her believers and to her followers? Saints can be dark and not necessarily holy ( thinking along the lines of The Unholy Trinity: the devil, the false prophet, the anti ), and being as Nausicaä represents the anti, it's like a backwards saint -- a halo in reverse.
#「 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔. ⛧ ❛ speak like bones unlocking. ❜ 」#hahaha I am laughing all the way to the Vatican#also I know who the false prophet is now#and she might be a little bit in love with him which makes it WORSE#imagine three devils whispering in your ear#all with the same goal
