Does anyone wanna look at pictures of calculators with me
#or better yet does anyone have a calculator they wanna give me#i enjoy having them In my possession#they are my trinkets#autism special interest reveal:#calculators#everyone say the weird niche thing you collect below#Texas Instruments just announced new colors for the TI-84 Plus CE#which is kinda cool bc there haven’t been new colors since 2022 i think#but that’s still recent so idc lol#and they make all their calculators with PYTHON now ugh#which sounds neat but it drains the battery in like 2 minutes#and also whenever you wanna create a new program instead of taking you to the TI-Basic screen#you have the option to use Python but then you click that and it takes 3 years to load#i just wish they had an option to still get calculators WITHOUT Python#whatever i’m going to ebay

[ 2ND CHILDREN / 5TH CHILDREN ]
— The truth is, Unit 02 simply isn’t compatible with the other EVAs. (E14)
— I never imagined this boy could synchronize with Unit 02 without replacing its core. Quite astonishing. (E24)
Death & Rebirth Pamphlet / Cruel Angel’s Thesis OP / EVA-02 wiki / DEATH (TRUE ²) / E16 / E24 / DEATH (TRUE ²) / E22 / 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo Cover / E09 / The End of Evangelion / E09 / E24 / NGE Manga / The End of Evangelion
#neon genesis evangelion#nge#asuka langley soryu#kaworu nagisa#shinji ikari#mine#there’s something here that I find really interesting wrt narrative relevance#bc both asuka + kaworu r rly important thematically#point blank the show would be fundamentally different w/o asuka in it#but asuka exists outside of the ikari bloodline#if shinji dies there’s no show. if rei dies she’s replace bc she’s still necessary#asuka was incapacitated and they brought in a new pilot#all asuka wants is to be the most narratively relevant person in the room but she’s the least. she exists outside of the ikari bloodline#and so she ranks below shinji and she ranks below rei#unit 02 isn’t compatible w any of the other evas!#meanwhile kaworu is what kickstarts instrumentality. but if it hadn’t been kaworu it would’ve been smth else#he’s there for five minutes and then he’s gone. he shows up in glimpses#he doesn’t get to actually matter either not beyond a concept#i think there’s smth that ties them together there#which ofc makes their relationship to shinji fascinating#also lol I wasn’t going to include this as actually being anything but I do think it’s funny that 2+3=5 get it#2nd children + 3rd children = 5th children#im very funny#anyway where kaworu idealizes shinji well asuka has to tear him down#and in many ways this is for the same reason#all of the kids are means to an end. but i think asuka and kaworu r this the most#bc they could be anyone. Thats the thing#there’s no reason it has to be them. they could be anyone#the joke addition is ofc: feliz jueves vs quieres ser mi novio shinji?

Wouldn't it be funny and kinda wholesome that some of the chain think Twilight can't sing or refuses to sing because his singing voice is horrible, then when they go to Ordon just in time for a harvest or something and there Twilight starts singing with the voice of an angel. He just feels more comfortable singing at home than on the road. My recent headcanon has also been that Twilight either plays a string instrument or a flute or both. The man is musically talented, he's just self-conscious about it when not at home.
Edit: I just realised that Twilight could also sing to the animals and be a proper disney princess. He would absolutely sing to the wild animals and frightened animals.
#lu twilight#linked universe#the boy has instruments but they aren't magical#actually twi's era has very little magic which is very interesting#like the dominion rod is magic and gale boomerang is somewhat magical and zelda can do magic#what happened in between time's and twi's eras that most of the magic has more or less evaporated away

Soldier players are admirable to me and you doing some guiding to the anons is really cool, might try rocket jumping again we'll see
-a demo player that can sometimes mid air sticky jump and can glide across the ground on upward from blu spawn till the mine exit(and is bad at rockets)
hey airpogo is legit, most demojumping is hella hardcore :D one of my best friends is a cracked demo jumper AND soldier jumper (because I love having an excuse to gush about my friends here's some of his stuff)
youtube
youtube
You can absolutely have both. But I'll warn you, Rocket and Sticky jumping both are very difficult and they legitimately take many years to get really good at. Just remember to keep working hard and don't give up on yourself and have faith that you will improve. I believe in you!
#a lot of people seem to be discouraged by rocket jumping because they don't realize just HOW difficult it is#it's legitimately like learning how to play an instrument or draw or something like that#it takes a lot of commitment and time and the more experience I have teaching people I see people's enthusiasm taper once they realize#just HOW hard it's going to be#which is fair not everyone has time to commit to a hobby like that and I can see why people would want to take shortcuts where they can#but I promise you its worth it to really explore and experience if its something that really interests you#but it WILL test your mettle#and it will NEVER stop#i'm serious about this#video#anyways look at how talented my friend fishe is :3#don't tell him that im posting his old videos LOL

5. Yes, a woodwind
6. Yes, a brass instrument
7. Yes, multiple
8. Yes, something not mentioned here
9. No, I do not currently play an instrument but I sing
10. No, I do not currently play an instrument and I do not sing.
End Options]
Please specify in the comments or tags!
I’m sorry there aren’t more options, I only had 10 spaces or I would’ve included more. I tried to go with the most common and obviously with groups!
What counts for singing is up to you. I think most people sing some amount, but you can decide if yours counts or not. The reason for this is because you can teach yourself an instrument, so not requiring lessons or anything for either instruments or singing.
If you want to learn an instrument, especially if you don’t currently play any, I would love to know if you shared!
Please reblog! I wanna know how many of us play instuments ourselves and what that distribution is.
If you don’t listen to the Mechanisms don’t respond to this poll! I’m sure your answer is very interesting, but it will skew the results!
#the mechanisms#poll#i included the answer options in brackets because my phones screenreader wont read them if i havent voted. ive heard other peoples do but i-#included it to be safe!#i have experience with multiple instruments!#chronilogically they are guitar. recorder (which i still count even though it was required in my school because i still have it and can-#still play it). alto saxophone. piano/keyboard. ukulele. violin. electric bass.#i have most experience with the saxophone and least with the bass!#i also sing. i did musical theatre ages 10-14 and a bit of non-musical theatre outside of that. so i have *some* amoung of training.-#plus chorus in middle school. but very little of it was one-on-one. plus i take t now and my voice dropped! so i dont havd any idea how my-#singing is now. not that i really knew before.#anyway im very curious! i always think its interesting when people are really into music but play no instruments (like my dad)#sorry to harmonica and accordion for not being able to fit you in the poll and also everything else because there are so many instruments!

i also more formally met our rodolfo tonight and he is such a sweetheart. big jolly teddy bear of a man
#sasha speaks#one of our rodolfos. we have two casts#i've encountered him before now but this is the first time we've properly introduced ourselves#at break i was distributing the last of my hamentaschen to my orchestramates and i offered one to a viola who turned it down#and rodolfo was sitting nearby and asked if he could have hers and i was like knock youself out#and he was very excited about getting a free cookie lol#but also introduced himself and shook my hand and asked me what instrument i played and everything. very nice#at one point during act 2 when i wasn't playing i was watching the cast fuck around onstage and he caught my eye#and smiled and gave me some 'you guys sound great' gestures#then on my way home we ended up walking in the same direction across campus so we chatted as we went#he asked me how different it was playing opera vs symphonic repertoire and if i had a favorite composer#and told me about his very campy idea for a la boheme sequel. which i jokingly referred to as La Boheme 2: Mimi's Revenge#and he went yeah that's basically the idea LOL#really nice guy. i like when anyone is nice and friendly of course#but it's an extra treat when the singers not only acknowledge us down in the orchestra#but are supportive and enthusiastic and interested in what we do. really makes the night more enjoyable

watching funeral parade of roses and on the one hand i feel quite late coming to this film, but on the other hand think i needed this time to to get it, but also the amount of references that i know nothing about feels like yet another level of understanding to unlock
i didn't know going in just how overt it was going to be about its trans subject-matter. it's interesting to me how recognisable 1960s tokyo is, considering i know very little about it and it's making me think about gender politics in japan as evolving parallel at this point to gender politics to, say, america, which is the 60s i've seen the most of, cinematatically, of this era, with the next being probably france
also i don't think anything quite as bold in terms of (trans)gender themes was happening in either america or england at this point, cinematically, with the exception of the blip that was glen or glenda, which was not well-received
yes, the warhol superstars but cinematically a lot of those movies are messy af, even if the acting is very interesting (flesh, trash, women in revolt) + a large part of it was mockery more than actual exploration of transness, queerness, and gender. germany was going to start making some really interesting movies in the late 70s and 80s and sidney lumet was going to disappoint me in 1975 with dog day afternoon (one of my favourite movies that nevertheless is a letdown on its depiction of a trans woman)
but funeral parade feels more like a trail-blazer -- to be a bit simplistic -- than any of those films, perhaps with fassbinder's Jahr mit 13 Monden (but still, that wasn't until 1978)
anyway will have to see what inspired funeral parade... keep following that thread of trans cinematic language and how its choices were born out of an experimental, surrealist, non-chronological, fluid depictions of time and place and action and relationships
i also think there's a lack of fear of bodies in this that renders the violence of hyperfocusing on trans bodies (in this case transfeminine bodies) moot, because all bodies are simply bodies and it's the 60s and people have a lot of sex regardless of bodies. i dont think it manages this all the time and im sure there's more analysis to be done on a closer watch, but it mostly eschews in my opinion the idea of performance/trickery that pervades so many of these films, i think in part because of its blended genre
#im watching movies#im watching funeral parade of roses#also they keep playing an instrumental version of ach du kleine augustin which is interesting to me#trans cinema#queer cinema#funeral parade of roses#theres a lot of context missing for me in this write-up -- specifically because i dont know what was happening in japanese#cinema at this time#but this is an entry-point to that

gale is ambition, so he has both crippling self doubt and debilitating pride in his work.
gale is ambition, so if a character tries to undermine him by one-upping him, he'll think he's not nothing left. more else can the orb destroy that it hasn't already?
gale is ambition, so if a character tries to undermine him by one-upping him, he'll vehemently deny that. he's the wizard of waterdeep. he was mystra's chosen. he was her lover. who could be any better than that?
gale is ambition. it's his greatest flaw and his greatest asset.
#baldur's gate 3#gale#gale dekarios#gale of waterdeep#gale bg3#bg3 gale#spoilers#bg3 spoilers#rex rambles#obvious take is obvious but i've been ruminating on his reactions to sorcerer tav/tav generally undermining his experience and expertise#it's the same principle if anyone's every played an instrument and you see a 5 year old playing music better than you#who has had 20+ years of study and practice#it's humbling; it makes you feel like shit; it incenses you to try harder to get better#that's ambition. it's both the self doubt and the pride#of course gale is going to be petty back; you've literally just stepped on both the pride and self doubt at the same time#ruminating on the bg3 cast a little too late but it's fine lmao. i think he's neat and i like him a lot#i'm very obsessed with my own drow war cleric though. oh no he's hot ig lmao#i also have some thoughts about the soundtrack which ar very interesting to me

Hey y'all my neighbors had a yard sale and I got an autoharp but I know absolutely nothing about autoharps, how to tune them, or how to play them. Do you have any advice?
#the person behind the yarn#I got a very good deal on it because I told the person selling it I would definitely be learning to play it#and she was like really? and I said yeah I already know how to play a few instruments#and I'm excited to learn to play more#and she was like oh good I got it for my granddaughter hoping she'd learn to play but she wasn't interested#so! autoharp!!#the price was below my Enrichment For My Enclosure threshold#which is my budget I set myself for starting a hobby I may or may not be interested in#purely for the novelty factor of it. new puzzles for my brain to chew on#like acrylic paint or oil pastels#will they be my primary hobbies? probably not! but it's good to stretch my brain a bit every once in a while

ok new thought. shuro was actually normal about falin until he saw her looking at a caterpillar one night, which he claims is the inciting incident. while at this point laios has not become openly Hungry about monsters, shuro has still been exposed to his monster interests (see him being forced to talk about monsters for 5 hours upon meeting laios). i think it's something that shuro struggles to understand much the same way kabru wonders how someone can be so enthusiastic about monsters. im not sure how open falin was about her interest in monsters, but seeing her that night reframed that interest in the typically weird and creepy as something that could be beautiful to him. it's interesting that This is the thing he latched onto after being stuck with a guy he just couldn't understand (sublimation????). what im saying is that i need him to make a similar connection with laios, either by seeing the similarity or having his own moment
#i think itd be interesting for him to realise how instrumental laios monster knowledge has been to their survival too#iirc kabru notes that what sets laios party apart from similarly experienced parties (ie his own) is his knowledge on monsters#i suppose for the most part thats all others incl. shuro would see it as. a particularly practical obsession#but again idk that he knows the extent to which it saved their asses lmao#i should like for kabru to bring it up in conversation to him and think of his reaction#<- UNLESS THIS ALREADY HAPPENED AND I FORGOT ANSHCHXHDHDH????????#none of this is new info im just reframing it for myself i think LMAO

a bby branmer with his parents, kedrunn and eiyamer (both ocs). they're both musicians so i had fun designing some absurd minbari instruments for them that probably would be extremely impractical in real life (the minbari dedication to the triangle aesthetic always cracks me up)
#babylon 5#b5#minbari#branmer#minbari ocs#yes i am weirdly obsessed with the guy who is like... a coffin in one ep lol#i just think he occupies an interesting space in minbari worldbuilding!#one instrument is based on a crwth#and the other started out based on a psaltery and quickly turned into something different#in parliament of dreams (i think) the minbari have psalterys#which they are plucking despite being the bowed kind!#i can only assume some of the production team walked into a music shop and saw a bowed psaltery and were like 'JACKPOT' ahaha#and ofc the triangle branmer is playing with is one that pops up whenever the show calls for some ritual shaking of bells#idek what that is#maybe they made it special for the show???

man I'm still thinking about just how cool stray gods is. it took what I find to be one of the most interesting features of Dragon Age 2 (Hawke's personality types, consistent even outside your active dialogue choices) and went 'yeah that's cool but watch me I'm going to do that again, backwards and in heels and with a soundtrack of such dizzying scale and modularity you could pick it over for hundreds of hours to find every nuance'. and I just think that's neat.
#stray gods#genuinely really interesting game design-wise#the only thing that could make it better for me as a person is to get a musical game with the Kirkwall crew#which will never happen but I want it in my heart so bad#sound off about what instruments would symbolize each of the bi disaster gang here if you'd like#dragon age 2... save me dragon age 2 etc.

HOW can you be bad at being a furry???????
IDK BUT I AM
#its like i would consider myself a furry the same way someone who played the recorder in middle school says they play an instrument#im like bare minimum furry or furry enjoyer at best. im like someone who might not even be a furry but share their beliefs etc etc#also its very funny when ppl try to 'clock' me as a furry bc of the 'if someone u know draws dogs like this theyre a furry' litmus test#nah man i just poked around deviantart and have a bunch of deviantart artist pages bookmarked on my browser#not to mention the animation memes and oc AMVs which probably shaped my teen years#but the weird thing is that the things u think would have been some sort of furry awakening for me never actually counted for much#i did read the warrior cats mangas BUT i never actually read the main series. i didnt even play animal jam or pretended to be wolves on the#schoolyard ALTHOUGH i did pretend to be a dog and even had a tail i clipped to my pants but nobody wanted to join in bc i bit ppl#maybe im just not that conscious of it but recently ive been looking at more furry art and now i want to draw more furries#its interesting ^_^ maybe im just a late bloomer#ask#yapping

i'll say it. i could've directed john legend in jcs/a version of jcs that fit better with john legend. i could've done it and it would've been good
#i don't understand why they seemingly went for such like a stoic vibe with his jesus#like idk if it was a director choice or his choice but i think jcs jesus is like a very emotive character#like borderline prima donna#but like he can also very much be a moper or a brooder which i think would fit a lot better with john#i think there was a lot of like forced stillness in that production as well#john has all these great very like flowy kind of regal mannerisms that would've worked great for jesus#i also think instead of trying to make him fit the mold of previous jcs jesuses which he was never gonna do#they should've leant into the texture of his voice and his riff and gentle falsettos etc#like just soften up the instrumental maybe even slow it down a bit let him get sensitive with it let him be at ease in it#i would maybe even do that across the board bc like with sara bareilles as magdalene it's not giving bombastic theatre vibes#i would have the instrumental go more rnb/rock maybe even like slightly soul for some of the bigger numbers#esp since that judas has a grit and a power to his voice that could be an interesting contrast w john's smoothness to lean into#like i think john could've played the sense of surrender in gethsemane really well if they'd have pushed that but like the emotional beats#a bit confusing to me in that version#the wine bottle he carries around during the number is a nice touch wheres the mopey ness????#like they should've let him play around with that song more. let him riff let him do some sad sensitive shit to that song#he has a gorgeous falsetto like i wouldn't have minded if they'd stuck with that the whole way through#anyway i could've done it. they should hire me to direct every jcs#move over alw your musical is mine now#karinyo.txt#jcs#jcs 2018#also has he acted in anything apart from jcs before??? bc that's a big factor too

just found out there was a cover of tori no uta sung by tomoriru (as a character she voiced for something).... hell yeas.....
#i was going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what kinds of synths they were using for key sounds label stuff#particularly the key vn soundtracks and found this along the way.... super nice <3#but back to my rabbit hole i was prompted because i heard a karaoke instrumental remake of a random early 10's jpop song#and like it used this interesting synthesized bell sound that reminded me SO much of like the big 00s three kanon air and clannad#and i got lost in it..... most leads were suggesting rolands and yamahas but they have a bajillion synths so yknow#i saw one suggestion of an ensoniq which while it absolutely has that sound it didnt seem likely#but also wowza ensoniq synths sound gorgeous... it was funny a lot of writing about em calls them like a very 90s pop sound#but to me the first thing i think is pc game soundtracks LOL type of person i am...#ANYWAY i found out that the soundtrack cd releases for air and kanon specifically DO actually have some of the tech listed in the booklet#computer + software + all kinds of different synths... a lot of roland and yamaha as expected#but also a few korgs and a kawai on air. and a bunch of other stuff LOL#i'll need to search more - maybe try searching a bit in japanese to see if i can find anything for any other games#but its cool that they listed the equipment for those two games! ive never seen a soundtrack do that before....
