Soldier players are admirable to me and you doing some guiding to the anons is really cool, might try rocket jumping again we'll see
-a demo player that can sometimes mid air sticky jump and can glide across the ground on upward from blu spawn till the mine exit(and is bad at rockets)
hey airpogo is legit, most demojumping is hella hardcore :D one of my best friends is a cracked demo jumper AND soldier jumper (because I love having an excuse to gush about my friends here's some of his stuff)
youtube
youtube
You can absolutely have both. But I'll warn you, Rocket and Sticky jumping both are very difficult and they legitimately take many years to get really good at. Just remember to keep working hard and don't give up on yourself and have faith that you will improve. I believe in you!
#a lot of people seem to be discouraged by rocket jumping because they don't realize just HOW difficult it is#it's legitimately like learning how to play an instrument or draw or something like that#it takes a lot of commitment and time and the more experience I have teaching people I see people's enthusiasm taper once they realize#just HOW hard it's going to be#which is fair not everyone has time to commit to a hobby like that and I can see why people would want to take shortcuts where they can#but I promise you its worth it to really explore and experience if its something that really interests you#but it WILL test your mettle#and it will NEVER stop#i'm serious about this#video#anyways look at how talented my friend fishe is :3#don't tell him that im posting his old videos LOL

Hello!! Do you know any TTRPGs surrounding translation or languages? 😊 (thanks for all your work btw!!!)
THEME: Language / Translation Games
Hello friend! As someone who studied linguistics in university, I absolutely love talking about all of the funky things languages do! I hope these recommendations tickle your fancy!
Dialect, by Thorny Games.
Dialect is a game about an isolated community, their language, and what it means for that language to be lost. In this game, you’ll tell the story of the Isolation by building their language. New words will come from the fundamental aspects of the community: who they are, what they believe in, and how they respond to a changing world.
Dialect uses a deck of cards to help minimize the amount of choices you have to make in character creation, by dealing three cards to each player and having the players choose one from just those three. You track the change of your language over a series of turns, using prompts to help you navigate the conversations that arise in your community as the world around them changes.
Dialect has been very highly regarded as a game that really delivers on the experience that it promises. The grief that accompanies language death really shines through this game, so if you want to combine the wonder of creation with the pain of losing something so integral to your sense of being, this is the game for you.
Tiny Frog Wizards, by @prokopetz
You have mastered the secret arts of sorcery
The very primordial energies of creation and destruction are yours to wield as you will.
You are two inches tall.
Tiny Frog Wizards is a game about tiny frogs, wielding magic using the power of words. When you want to do something magical, you will roll somewhere between 1-3 dice, and use the values of your rolled dice to determine how the range, magnitude, and control of your magic.
What’s important in terms of this game recommendation is the Control aspect, because how well you are able to wield your magic depends on how many words you are able to use to make things happen! It’s a lot easier to use a spell with precision if you have enough words to detail where you want a magical pen to write, or what you want to throw a tiny magic missile at. Not enough words? Then the GM has license to cause some humorous side effects, or, if you roll poorly enough, cause your spells to really go off the rails.
If you like games where you need to choose your words carefully, Tiny Frog Wizards is worth checking out - especially since it’s in free playtest!
Xenolanguage, by Thorny Games.
Xenolanguage is a tabletop role-playing game about first contact with alien life, messy human relationships and what happens when they mix together. At its core, you explore your pivotal relationships with others on the mission as you uncover meaning in an alien language. The game gives a nod to soulful sci-fi media like Arrival, Story of Your Life and Contact, but tells its own story. It’s a game for 2-4 players in 3-4 hours.
In Xenolangauge, you play as a group of people bound together through a shared past with unsettled questions. Your task is to understand why the aliens have come and what they are trying to tell us. You will soon discover the key to understanding lies in your memories together.
This is definitely an in-person game, as it is meant to come with a modular channeling board that will provide you with alien symbols that you will use to help you interpret messages. This is more than a game about language, it’s about relationship, shared memories, and connection.
Xenolanguage was kickstarted at the beginning of this year, but you can check out the above link to pre-order the game if this sounds interesting to you!
Star-Spawned, by Penguin King Games.
One unearthly night, a ray of colourless light descended from the stars, and under its warping radiance, creatures unlike any the world has ever seen were born. They do not know the world, and they do not know themselves. Unfortunately for the world, they're quick learners!
Star-Spawned is a GMless, oneshot-oriented tabletop RPG in which you don't know what your own traits do when play begins. The names of each group's stats are randomly generated using morpheme chaining, and characters are created while having absolutely no idea what they mean; figuring that out forms the greater part of play.
Star-Spawned is more about self discovery than it is about language, but the use of morpheme-chaining in character creation is intriguing to me. You will randomly roll three pieces of a word, and then chain them together to create a unique Facet, available to the players as stats. These Facets dont have a meaning when the game begins - you need to play to find out what they mean. If you like playing around with semantics - the meaning of words - this might be a game for you.
Degenerate Semantics, by Mikael Andersson.
Degenerate Semantics is a role-playing game for 1-5 players and one Game Master (GM). The players will each portray a character who live in Emmaloopen's poverty-stricken lower city. They are young, wild, ambitious, and independent. This way of life is threatened by other factions, and the players will need to have their characters work together to survive and thrive.
In the process of playing the game, the players and GM will define and flesh out a language called Bandethal. A collection of street terms and slang, Bandethal is used both as a way to talk openly about illicit activities without alerting authorities and to establish street cred. The terms are liberally mixed in with plain English, or when the language is mature enough, can be used entirely on its own. The characters' success is in large part based on how proficiently the players wield the language.
A friend of mine ran this game for me three or four years ago, and it’s been sitting in the back of my head ever since. Degenerate Semantics was created for a Game Chef competition in 2014, and has remained in the same state since then. I don’t think there’s any more work being done on it, but the game is there for anyone who wants to give it a go - and while there’s a setting that comes with the game, that setting is highly flexible, depending on what your group is interested in. Our group decided to use a lot of gardening metaphors, and undertook a plant-based heist as our act of rebellion! If you want a game about the power that language can give a tightly-knit group, this is the game for you.
I've Also Recommended...

Make Use Of Me (chapter 1, preview)
Dec. 7 EDIT: ONCE MORE, WITH BRAVERY THIS TIME. No more chickening out. You can read this thing FOR REAL now. Sorry for being weird, and now....sorry if this wasn't worth it. XD
O-OK...here goes....
First thing's first: I am not expecting a lotta people to read this. I'm not asking people to read this. At this point, I'm making this mostly as a passion project, and if anyone enjoys it, it'll be a really cool bonus. My writing style isn't gonna be for everyone, and the characters I write aren't the most....popular characters in the CRK X Reader community, and I imagine this isn't really something a lotta fans'll be demanding more of.
This is LONG. This one chapter is 56 pages long. I am a VERY wordy writer,
So......why'm I posting this preview? Well....partially as an interest gauge for people who WOULD wanna read it, but...mostly as a motivator. As something to remind myself of whenever I get lazy. After all....I can't quit after I made the first chapter public, right? By doing that, I put myself out there...And, hey, I even tagged it, so, if by the off chance, someone did read it, I'm basically promising them more eventually.....
But, again, I'm not forcing anyone to read this.
Not only is it long, but.....This first chapter is probably my least-favorite thing I've ever written. By posting this chapter by itself, I'm testing to see if it does its job of making people wanna read the rest, cuz....right now, I'm not so sure how well it succeeds at that.....
This is the boring part of the story. It's a bunch of setup, and me jumping through hoop after hoop after hoop to just get everything started. I know setup is important and all, but....I'm already a very wordy writer, so....oof....There is some interesting stuff that happens, but it takes a while to get there.
I-I....kinda hate it, actually. The only reason I didn't scrap it is that I didn't realize I hated it until I was about halfway through it and the "good part" hadn't started yet. And I still spent a month writing the thing, so....I finished it.
I'm tagging this...as an experiment. If you wanna read this, go ahead. W-well, read my tags first, THEN go ahead. XD
All I can really say in this chapter's defense is that....I do try my best to salvage it. It's just setup, but I TRIED to make it interesting. And everything that seems like it didn't go anywhere, will later. This isn't the whole story, it's just the beginning of what's gonna be a BIG story. Anything that seems weird in this chapter, gets explored in the other chapters. This does set up a bunch of stuff that becomes important later (The friend character shows up later, the Colosseum becomes relevant later). This chapter is boring, but I tried not to make any of it pointless.
For the future: I'm aiming for five chapters. Chapters 2 and 3 will be a series of smaller vignettes that take place over the course of a few years, chapter 4 will be the climax, and chapter 5 will be something of an epilogue. After that, there will be two endings to choose from (which will make sense when we get there).
This probably won't be my favorite thing I've ever written, but it will be the most ambitious thing I've ever, and probably will ever, write. I haven't written something like this before, and it's all to flesh out this story and make it believable.
Right now, I.....I want to finish this. I'll probably still be writing this in February at the rate I'm going, but...at this point, I've put too much into it to give up on it. However, I'm STILL not completely ruling out the idea of my motivation dying before then. It COULD happen. So, what I'm planning to do is...setting a short-term goal of finishing chapter 3. After I do that, I'll post the first three chapters on AO3 together, and work on the rest. That way, even if I don't finish it, I'll at least have it over half done, and chapter 3 will end on a somewhat high note.
So, yyyyeah....Not a lotta people will read this preview. Overly wordy writing style + boring setup part of story + 56 pages long + assumed lack of interest for X Readers of this character (At least, I haven't SEEN many simps for her, m-maybe I'm wrong, I might be, I-I haven't checked any tags cuz I've been nervous, b-but it doesn't make my writing any better. In that case, this is my first time writing her so I'm trying super hard to do her justice >//////<)
I-if you wanna read this, and see if this first chapter does a good job of making you wanna read the better chapters, then...Go ahead.....
Some notes:
-This is still not the final draft. It's finalized enough for me to share, but I'm still not considering it finished. Even tho I'm working on chapter 3 right now, I STILL go back and edit this, even very recently. So, chances are, even if the story is finalized, small details and sentences are still subject to change. I know for a fact that there are still SOME placeholder bits in here that will change after I get some stuff cleared up. Recently, I even considered chopping off an entire section to make it shorter. I decided not to, but hey, it could still happen. I don't wanna waste anyone's time. The first chapter of a story, even if it's boring, is still very important, and I wanna make sure it's the best version of itself.
(A-and yes, this means that I've finished chapter 2 as well. The reason I'm not sharing it is that, unlike chapter 1, it was finished VERY recently, so I might still need to give myself time to edit it. From what I have, tho, I do like it a LOT more than chapter 1. There are some parts of chapter 2 that I'm legit proud of.)
-Even tho this first chapter is completely clean, I-I should mention that....this fic is for adults. The full version, at least. Chapters 3 and 4 are gonna contain some light N/S/F/W moments (the "fade to black" variety, so nothing explicit) and there'll be other slightly racey comments here and there. Just a heads-up. I'm gonna be uncomfy with minors reading this.
Th-that's all? I-I think that's all.......O-OK, so......h-here goes..... E-enjoy....
#fanfic preview#WARNING: UNFINISHED#THIS IS JUST THE FIRST CHAPTER#......AND ITS STILL A LONG READ#cookie run x reader#crk x reader#golden cheese cookie x reader#gender neutral reader#also contains a gender neutral 'friend' character you can do what you want with#basically i got inspired by that part in her bio that mentions how...#....shes always looking to add more loyal subjects#and it made me imagine the story of an outsider who gradually integrates into the kingdom and earns her approval#so its an underdog story basically#and there a LOT that the reader gets put through#reader is shy and socially awkward but can also be a bit more sarcastic than the other reader characters ive written#im aiming for a BIT more comedy than usual since its my first crk fic that doesnt take place in the humorless dark cacao kingdom XD#but yeah reader is a ball of anxiety#they get panic attacks later on#pre canon#VERY VERY VERY pre canon#takes place DECADES before canon#before um....the lost city became lost#its not virtual#no errors no avatars#just a technologically advanced city#power imbalance and god complex stuff all over the place cuz fghdhgfhdhfgh im weak for that part of her#also contains some themes of verbal abuse (from nameless characters toward reader)#and like i said it has some adult moments later on#contains a lot of time skips

FINALLY, fellow wlw appreciators!!
last few days i kept thinking about Candace. like... she's just so wonderful, amazing, unique character. she is art. she is imperfect in perfect way if you get what i mean (her negative traits only make her better, closer to real person)
recently i assumed she is very similar to Kazuha in terms of poetic speech manner, chill persona and calm&fighting mode duality. so just imagine... Candace gets the opportunity to leave Aaru village for ur honey moon, so you two spend it travelling, and she sees so many new things, does stuff she never experienced... imagine her visiting Dragonspine!! or Watatsumi island.. or Fontaine!
Negative trait? Hm, maybe because i forgot how she's like during Archon Quest, but the only flaw i would say is that she's... overly loyal to her duty, but it is still within reason as well
Anyways, here you go! Presenting to you,
Once in a lifetime
When you first fell for Candace and knew of her strong loyalty to her hometown, you knew that if you wanted to stick with her, your freedom to come and go so easily would be gone. A trade for a trade, they would say in Liyue.
But for a woman like her, was it not worth it? You may not be travelling as much as before, but it is worth to start a journey with the woman you swore to love and cherish.
Still, to fulfill both your wishes for once, the both of you have decided to set off the day after your wedding night, with the previous protectors of Aaru Village standing guard in place of Candace, as done before.
"Are you ready?" Candace asks softly as you pack your things.
Needless to say, the moment Candace stepped out beyond Aaru Village, she felt a small sense of excitement, like a little kid who just got their favorite candy.
She's been out of Aaru village to Sumeru city, yes. Or at most Gandharva Ville or Ormos Port, but not out of the nation of Wisdom!
Being on a boat, sailing away from her home for the first time... it certainly is a very unique experience for her.
Everyday, she'll be spending at least a good while gazing at the sea, commiting the memory of it into her mind
Water, so scarce in the desert, but so abundant here. Even if it is saltwater
Now, here we will diverge a little.
If you guys go Dragonspine, you will end up in Liyue Harbour first, where you guys stay a night before you travel to Mondstadt
With a guide, and comfortably dressed, the both of you explore the snowy Dragonspine, taking care to avoid monsters along the way as well.
Snow is something the both of you have never seen, so the both of you really had a lot of fun playing with the snow, making snowmen and throwing snowballs.
Thanks to your guide, you also have some pictures of such memories as well.
The both of you mostly stayed in Mondstadt for the rest of the time, exploring the endless greenery that was there, enjoying wine and song for the rest of the time with the lovely people of Mondstadt
If you went to Watasumi Island,
The both of you are very surprised by its beauty. It's like a water paradise, and Candace certainly feels at home because of her Hydro Element.
The grass is purple, the village simple and happy, reminding her of her people back in Aaru Village
You spend the honeymoon roaming the place, having even met the Divine Priestess, Sangomiya Kokomi as well! The both of them have bonded well over their own hydro elements, and how they are both in a way, protectors of their own homeland.
General Gorou also makes an appearance, with him being curious about the foreigners from Sumeru.
All in all, the both of you head home soon after a while with some Watasumi Island specialties, and promises to write to each other and stay in touch
Hooray for new friends!
Finally, if you went to Fontaine...
Think country girl meets the city.
She's probably amazed by the technology present in Fontaine, which even the Akademiya does not possess.
Working machines that act humanoid, or in dog form for some, all even big machines that can have great many functions...
it certainly piques her interest, especially on how it can use various types of weapons as well.
Fontaine is well-arranged and orderly, compared to the more rustic and simple Aaru Village.
So Candace may feel a little out of place, but please comfort her and tell her it's okay, the both of you are just here to sight-see and spend time with each other.
But beyond the main city, it's filled with so much greenery and water as well
Candace would probably have fun diving in the sea as well, it's so colorful and beautiful!
And... maybe you two can sneak a few underwater kisses while diving as well *winks*
And oh the food in Fontaine! Call me wild, but I feel like she'll fall for the sweet treats that they have.
Cue eating as much as she can and getting recipes and deciding to ask the Traveller to send over supplies to make the yummy treats the next time.
"Did you have fun?" You ask softly, on the boat ride back to Ormos Port.
"I did. This was a wonderful time." Candace hugs you closer into her embrace, cherishing your presence.
"Well, perhaps we should get out every now and then. Wouldn't want to keep you all around in Aaru all the time." You boop her nose gently.
"Maybe."
Your lips are engulfed in a warm sensation, as you close your eyes and surrender to the feeling.
I finally posted something my gosh
Likes and reblogs and comments appreciated!

Side note, a friend brought up a recent emerging theory on DID using Dynamic Core
I've only read one paper, this one:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/366818673_The_Role_of_Dynamic_Core_and_Mirror_Neuron_System_in_Dissociative_Disorder/fulltext/63b37ac2a03100368a4b2edd/The-Role-of-Dynamic-Core-and-Mirror-Neuron-System-in-Dissociative-Disorder.pdf?origin=publication_detail&_tp=eyJjb250ZXh0Ijp7ImZpcnN0UGFnZSI6InB1YmxpY2F0aW9uIiwicGFnZSI6InB1YmxpY2F0aW9uRG93bmxvYWQiLCJwcmV2aW91c1BhZ2UiOiJwdWJsaWNhdGlvbiJ9fQ
I'd really love your insight and knowledge on this line of thinking as it seems really promising, such as if other papers have explored this as well. Alongside its criticism on Structural Dissociation.
Thanks for always responding! You are very cool 💗
So this paper is largely philosophical. It is arguing about what IS consciousness, what counts as a whole vs fragmented part of the self etc. This is a really old question, like Kant type of old, and philosophy of mind is the branch of philosophy that deals with this question.
Edelman's DC hypothesis (not theory) is also largely philosophical with a neuro twist and the basic idea is that our consciousness is tied directly to our brains but also that it's not stuck in one spot essentially, using split brain research to supplement. It's worth noting that this hypothesis is not specific to DID, Edelman was speaking of consciousness in general. While it is an interesting thought, in almost 25 years since publishing there has been zero evidence to support the DC hypothesis. Which, to be fair, it is kind of difficult to test a mostly philosophical idea of consciousness in a lab, especially since it would necessitate damaging subjects' brains permanently to provide evidence. But regardless we have exactly nothing saying that it holds any weight whatsoever.
The problem with using split brain research for DID is while it has its interesting points, anything we glean from it is about split brains and not DID. Basically everything we look at for split brains is not a 1 to 1 application to DID, because split brains involve either a severe physical injury or a growth that caused a very physical disconnect between the brain hemispheres. Like the corpus callosum is gone. With DID there is not that history. Something having the occasional similarity does not mean the mechanisms that cause them are the same, in the same sense that me and another wheelchair user probably have entirely different conditions and needs despite the same mobility aid. And to be honest, the similarities are pretty surface level. It can be an interesting avenue to *start* research, but basically it is at the beginning rather than a conclusion.
With any neurological or biological explanation of a psychological disorder, there is the problem of essentially the chicken and the egg. All psychological conditions have some neurological and biological aspects. PTSD involves physical signs in the brain, involves cortisol levels, etc. But which comes first? Is it psychological -> neuro/bio or neuro/bio -> psychological? It's a recurring discussion with pretty much all conditions, nature vs nurture debate rehashed essentially. I am generally of the mind that it's often both. For example, using PTSD again, if the parent who carries the fetus has PTSD or is undergoing high stress as measured by cortisol levels, the resulting infant is more predisposed to developing PTSD. The infant still has to experience something traumatic in order to get PTSD, but there is a biological aspect there that is contributing. Schizophrenia is generally considered to be a neurological condition, with very strong biological influences with heredity and so on, but it is also considered that trauma or a strong stressor is often the catalyst for developing schizophrenia. So in this sense, I don't think that a neurological explanation of alter formation would be necessarily against structural dissociation.
That said. I don't think that Reinders' papers (as cited in the paper you linked) or any neuropsych research into DID has ever indicated what Okano is stating in the paper about essentially specific "radio frequencies" in the brain that all tie to not only specific parts of the brain but a specific alter. That seems like kind of...an overly complicated conclusion to jump to especially when there isn't anything indicating that at all. Like. Is it an interesting thought? Cool if true? Yeah. But it's honestly a pretty big jump to go from "some research has shown neurological differences between alters in these specific regions of the brain" to "this means they physically live there at a very specific Brain Address" You know?
A lot of this is, by Okano's own admission, pure speculation. Including the above point and the part where they're trying to figure out how exactly a split brain would essentially be created without the physicality of split brain. Speculation isn't a bad thing, if we never speculated we wouldn't know anything. But it is definitely not like...an actual or even emerging theory, it's at the "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks" stage. I would love to see what sticks if anybody researches it. :)
I will say though that Okano is pretty wrong in that they state that alters are actually super secure in their identity and this is how we know they are "whole" personalities and not fragments, and that there is actually no disruption of the self. Except that I would say many if not the vast majority have alters who aren't always aware of who they are, aren't very clear on where they end and other parts begin, or aren't that developed. And it begs the question of how much does a part need to know about themselves, how many traits and characteristics do they need to have, how many opinions, etc for Okano to decide that they are "whole." Like is this an ANP vs EP type situation but instead of whether they do daily tasks vs hold emotions it's whether they are secure in their identity vs not. Which leads me to the next part.
I think probably the appealing part of this in terms of "alternative to structural dissociation" or "critiques structural dissociation" for some people is that Okano keeps stating that they think alters are full, whole personalities with strong identities. But I will be honest. Whether parts are considered fragments or whole people would not affect my treatment of them. Not only that but philosophical discussions of "what makes Pinocchio a real boy" is sort of boring to me. It really does not matter to me. The thing is that alters being "just" parts of a whole/fragment of a personality, it doesn't make them less real to me. In the same way that I can acknowledge a child isn't developed enough to understand certain topics but I'll still treat them like they are a real live human being, because they are. And this is essentially the heart of Okano's argument is that treating them as lesser is disrespectful and we should treat parts like they are individuals. But if you were already treating them equally then the argument doesn't apply. When treatment protocol states to not encourage separation and to remember they are part of one whole, that does not translate to "treat them like shit." Outside of the philosophical debate about part vs whole, Okano's paper doesn't really go against structural dissociation--the process described of them trying to figure out how alters form without an actual split brain still involved trauma -> dissociation -> disconnect from the experience -> inability to integrate the experience later on -> experience is stored in a specific part. It's just from a DC hypothesis angle rather than psychological. Even if eventually the DC hypothesis or even this specific neurological approach to alter formation gets evidence, most of the time when new stuff comes to light, fully fledged theories are just adjusted a bit rather than fully disproven so we would see an adjustment to structural dissociation rather than it being discarded. It takes a pretty big find to completely disprove or retire a theory, given that theories have a lot of evidence supporting them.
This is already super long I'm so sorry 🙏 however for recommendations for reading, Reinders' papers as listed in Okano's papers are pretty fun. Nijenhuis has a few neuro papers as well, Schlumpf, Vermetten. Nijenhuis, Reinders, and Schlumpf sometimes work together on papers like Aiding the diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder: pattern recognition study of brain biomarkers (2018). They're all pretty fun reads. McLean hospital has research teams that study neuro aspects of DID. Chefetz' Intensive Psychotherapy for Persistent Dissociative Processes. The polyvagal book Okano mentioned is decent as well. Trauma And The Body, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy both by Ogden.
#ask#anonymous#and thank you!!! I love research asks :3c#oh and side note: dynamic core is sort of confusingly named because dynamic core is also neuro shorthand#for dynamic functional core network. Which is just fancy neuro speak for 'the parts in your brain that are Very Necessary to existing'

More of my TMA Somewhere Else is Dredge AU. Mostly just random stuff that isn’t enough to make a whole post all on its own. There’s no order to these btw it’s literally just whatever came to mind. (Also Jon uses any/all pronouns because I like projecting)
- Jon takes statements from people in the Dredgeverse. Back before she accepted the Greater Marrow angler job offer these were always encounters with the fears as they slowly sank their teeth into this new world, but once she moved she found that encounters with the fears were much, much rarer. Statements about the sea are still filling, however. Plenty of terror and new information to be found there.
- Jon really likes chatting with the traveling merchant. She’s seen a lot, so it’s a good way for him to learn about this world. He doesn’t want to take a statement from her (he’s sure she has many, but she might be the closest thing he has to a friend here (he doesn’t even know her name) and it would be a massive pain to constantly be going back and fourth between Greater Marrow and the other four regions). Her stories usually just contain enough scraps of information (and sometimes fear) that they can serve as a very light snack.
- Sometimes aberrations are the only things they catch in a day. Sometimes Jon will see dark shapes in the water, to big and malformed to be any of the regular fish native to the area. Sometimes they are out on the water, alone, and something is watching them. He Knows it is not Beholding.
- Jon thinks that the Eye would tell them the quickest route back to where they came from, would tell them exactly how to navigate to avoid monsters and dangerous storms. They know they could leave but they don't think they will. They need to stay. They need to know.
- Jon spends AGES trying to figure out what’s so special about the dark stone pillars. When she realizes that they grant her visions (but only if she’s frightened enough) she decides to visit all of them (at night, when the fog is thick and the fear is strongest).
- After getting a camera from the photographer, Jon tries to get pictures of the monsters. She nearly gets her boat sunk about a hundred times in the process, but finds that the benefits of being able to study them from multiple angles for as long as she wants outweighs the terror and cost of repairs.
- Got a LOT of thoughts about how the collector could play into this tbh. I don’t want to get into specifics for spoiler reasons but I can give some general thoughts:
Dude's just some guy who wanted cursed relics. Met Jon and instantly went: "They look like a magnet for The Horrors" and decided to hire them on the spot.
Dude is Elias. I feel like Elias wouldn't have too much trouble fitting into the role, and I like him well enough to actually want to include him in this au. That being said, I don't know if my grasp of the character is solid enough for me to explore the idea, and I like the idea of Jon, whose only remaining connection is the eldritch fear god they serve, having nobody and nothing in the already lonely and isolating world of Dredge.
It's Dredgeverse Jon. The collector is the Jon who was born here, and whose fascination with the sea and the supernatural drew them to this place, where they're sure all the answers they seek lie waiting, just below the surface of the water. Raises all sorts of questions I don't have answers to about who else has versions of themselves living in the Dredgeverse (if any at all) but also fascinates me.
The collector is any/all of these but also a mouthpiece for the entity that lurks in these waters (whether he knows it or not). I think dipping into these ideas any further would cross into spoiler territory, and while I think knowing the full story can really enhance the experience, I also think it's best played blind the first time. If you have the money to drop on it please do check it out, I promise it's so worth it.
Okay these are all my thoughts (for now). I'm sure I'll have more soon. Jon and Dredge both occupy massive portions of my brain all the time. However for now I need to try and get trophies for every regular fish (and possibly also the abberations, might be fun trying to spend a full in-game year just fishing).
#on the one hand I want to spoil some Dredge stuff#on the other hand I don't want to spoil anything just in case someone who sees this post decides to play the game.#I should probably come up with a name for this au#can't think of anything rn tho#anyway now onto the regular tags#tma#tma au#the magnus archives#jon sims#jonathan sims#dredge#dredge game

oooo i wanna know about orphi!! he’s a gorgon right?
YES YES HELL YEAH!! hellooo i have loreeee hehhe
Ophi is a stargorgon to be super specific, which falls under the larger species of Voidwalkers, End-inhabitants created by the Ianite of his home-realm Astrakheins :D She used energy derived from the Void and starlight to transform gorgons and other mythical creatures into these beings who could move freely about the end through flight and overall had a stronger affinity to transformative magics (such as magical properties related to invention, building, engineering, etc.) They somewhat still retain features from their origin species, in Ophi's case the snake hair, and the Eyes tm (he can somewhat turn people to stone too if they look in his eyes, but its on his own volition, meaning unless he's mad at ya you could look right into his eyes without his shades on) Other Voidwalkers could have wings, any other number of eyes (like cyclops), hooves or whatnot, what's most important is that they have some kind of star like feature about them such as the blue snakes on Ophi's head
Ophi is trans, like all gorgons is AFAB and transitioned at a early age :D He's also demisexual/biromantic! As a whole he's a very loyal, sometimes irrational silly chaotic guy who makes up for a lot of social awkwardness (sometimes he doesn't know when to shut it) with a decent amount of technical knowledge. He's had an interest in portal travel and their capabilities from when he was young which is what led him into his field of work. He also likes bees, and singing as side hobbies :D
Before he came to Oakheart (realm of Mianite RPG) Ophi worked for Syn inDustries as a materials engineer, where most of his research was in experimenting with the physical, magical and mechanical properties of materials being uncovered out of the Nether, which for the longest time was shut off as it fell to ruin in the absence of a god (as on Astrakheins, there is only Ianite. Mianite and Dianite are not present at all, and haven't been. the reason why I can't reveal just yet smiles menacingly /silly ;] Ianite in a way rules over both the Overworld and the End in this universe)
He was somewhat content with his work, but part of him knew that there must be more out there, out in the vast multiverse and was worth exploring, that he could make a name from. He never felt like he fit in amongst his Ianite worshipping peers, and was often seen as the odd one out- this only being fueled more on a day that changed his life forever.
He was in the Overworld visiting his mom's supervisor strolling through some woods when he sees a fiery rift tears a hole in the sky, from it, a blazing horned red god draped in a black fur cloak. He drops what he's carrying and runs through the exit when the god takes something (he's not sure what, or who) from the ground, and leaves with an inferno in his path. He's drawn to whoever this god is, and now having some greater sense of what's really out there, he promises to himself he'll find him again. Ophi spends the next two years putting his research to the test, on days off retreating to a shack in the corners of the End to build a portal. Using some stone fragments from the crater from where the god landed, he's able to hopefully have extracted and located a quintessence signature in a branch of the "greater mianite multiverse" and sets his sights on that realm- somewhere far away from what he's known all his life.
As he does this, he does become shunned by his peers, who bring their concerns to his mother and eventually Queen Ianite. He gets summoned to the goddess who gives him a name for this god- Dianite. She warns him that the god is not someone to be meddled with and that it would be in his best interest to abandon his side project; but the name calls out to the chaos living dormant in Ophi's heart and he goes on with his plan regardless. A few days before he leaves, his mother visits to plant a patch of new sunflowers next to his house, wishing him good luck, and not to forget her.
Upon landing he arrives in Oakheart and is greeted by the others- many of which who also came from other universes. Without question, upon learning that there is in fact a Dianite here, he pledges his undying loyalty to him. When he finally gets to meet Oakheart's Dianite, he doesn't look all like the Dianite he saw back on Astrakheins. But he knows time moves differently between timelines, theres offsets, so it must just be that a ton of time has passed. This is his god. Over the course of the next year, he embraces his silliness, his chaos and contributing what he can to prove himself to the old man- through fights, being apart of the legion and making friends and allies and fighting the bringers of Darkness, finally feeling that sense of belonging he's longed for. There are days he still looks up to the stars not sure if he'll stay here the rest of his life, but for now he's happy by the legion of dianite and the guardian's side- no matter where it takes them (even back to the season 1 world uh ohhhh)
#lafakiwi writes#if you have any more questions lemme know thank u for an excuse to infodump hehehe#i appreciate it a ton 💖💖💖#im sorry i wrote so much more than I intended/what you asked about but once i started i couldnt stop 😭#if astrakheins sounds familiar its the same universe Tom comes from in my hc/the minecraft project world ;]#mianite#mianite oc#mianiterpg#ophiuchus durabak#original character#oc lore#character development#asks#licantropa

where should i start if i wanna get into silent hill....
To get into silent hill first you must do or experience something terrible and evil and then lose yourself and then find yourself searching for something in this strange town that calls to you inexplicably dragging you towards it with a whisper of a promise of finding what you need to move on......or something......
Id say download PS2 emulator and play silent hill 2 on it. Or you could play sh1 or sh3 it really doesn't matter that much but I personally recommend starting with 2 because it introduces you into the world without all of the confusing insane lore that's in 1 and 3, but the storyline is still really really good on its own, it's genuinely just a fucking amazing video game, definitely the best one. IMHO
3 is also really really good and you don't necessarily need to understand the lore to enjoy it.. 1 is pretty good but genuinely just hard to play imo (and it's on PS1 so different emulator) but I think it's worth it if you're that interested in the games.
I haven't played all of silent hill 4 (when I've tried to emulate it it doesn't go well) but it's also pretty good, but this is where the series starts to divulge from the original Vibes. If that matters to you idk. I honestly kinda don't give a shit about anything released after 4 but other people do and it's not ALL garbage (I think).
You could watch playthroughs of the games if you don't wanna emulate or they're too scary or something but I really think actually playing the games is the best because you can explore at your own pace and they're just soooo goooood.. they do have easy mode which helps if you get scared of the monsters (I still do even after playing the games several times lol)
I like to watch thegamingmuse and various other youtube videos for stuff about lore and symbolism and shit like that if that interests you at all after getting your fix of actually playing the games + making sense of the lore surrounding why silent hill is the way it is and Heather/Cheryl/Alessa's story
#thanks for asking me this 🖤#ALSO do not hesitate to look up walkthroughs for help with the puzzles and stuff theyre like actually really hard LOL#even on easy mode they confuse the shit out kf me

Worth the Candle, end of 228.
so. I understand it now. this is Baru Cormorant: When They Cry.
i thought this story was going to be stupid fun, in a kind of well-above-average litrpg way - I was (kinda still am) very depressed and the other books I was reading were too heavy. instead, it surprised me be being good, like actually good: a genuinely thoughtful, well structured and even insightful story. this is not something that I ever expected to write about a litrpg isekai webserial, and certainly not a 'ratfic'.
it does, admittedly, take a while to come into its own. what 'its own' turns out to be is, as one commentator deemed it, 'competence porn for therapy'.
at first i thought it was about grief, then i recalibrated to a really scathing self-crit, as the story worked to absolutely dismantle self insert protagonist Juniper interpersonally and ideologically. now, 25 chapters from the end (which is still like an entire novel lol) it seems to be... complex metafiction about learning to work through shit and understand yourself and other people? woven of course in between exploring a variety of off-the-wall magic systems and settings, with an analytic eye to how and why they're made.
it's safe to say it blows Yudkowsky out of the fucking water. if more ratfic is like this, i might have to get into the genre.
it can be quite... dry isn't the right word, but there's a lot of chapters of people having penetrating conversations about their motivations and feelings, or coming up with plans, or the nature of the story they're inhabiting. which isn't to say it can't hit the feelings or evoke a mood... especially if that mood is an oppressive one, but there's plenty of genuine humour. it's often kind of horny but in a really analytic way, where it's about breaking down hangups around sex that largely happens off camera, and sexuality is just part of what comes under the scope. in some ways it feels... anthropological, in the sense of autoethnography - which I suppose is what it is, given how much Wales seems to be putting his own experiences into it, though of course I'm not sure exactly the line between what is directly roman à clef for his own life and what is there for a rhetorical point. some of the constructions and parallels feel too neat to be exactly real, but that doesn't say a lot, bc if you're fictionalising something you'd neaten it up.
it steers determinedly towards just about all the thorniest topics you can think of: grief, depression, suicide, rape (of its protagonist), genocide, eugenics. astonishingly, given its peers, it handles them with - for the most part, I'm not really sure about where they're going with the Tuung - a lot of grace.
it can be a bit cheeky with the metafiction occasionally but generally uses it purposefully, in the same way that a When They Cry VN teaches you how to read it. (promise I'll get back to that). in general it commits to the bit, hard. a brief arc riffs on the one page rpg Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf, in a way that sounds like it would be way too stupid, and yet it somehow makes it work by playing it serious.
it's a curious story to read because you have to take everything on at least four levels: what it means on the base level, how it fits in to the story that is being constructed with the diegetic DM character (the 'narrative' that the characters are aware of), how it reflects back on the inciting incidents on Joon's D&D games and grief spiral on Earth, and the purpose it's being put towards by Wales in the webnovel. (we can go further and take after Eco in distinguishing the author suggested by the text from the actual person Alexander Wales, but that's more @baeddel 's department.)
and now I've finally reached the Fel Seed Incident. cw rape. also spoilers.
the Fel Seed Incident is foreshadowed from early in the story, as the most heinous thing that Joon did while misanthropically turning on everyone after the death of his best friend Arthur. it's pretty much exactly what I thought, given the foreshadowing: Joon created a cheap grimdark body horror scenario to vent his feelings, that scenario centred on a sadistic rapist villain, a new player who Joon held in contempt joined the group, who was a rape survivor, and Joon steamrolled through several attempts to get him to back down, drove her away, flipped his lid and drove her boyfriend away, and made the session miserable for everyone by making Fel Seed invincible. most of this was pretty much spelled out already, but not the rape part.
this is the keystone of the whole story, and the reason it's delivered so late is because basically everything leading up to this point is telling us how to interpret this scene. particularly the arc where Joon gets raped by his sentient house, who then goes away for a long time to be taught a sense of ethics by the girl who eats demons to get therapy insight (I say, very matter of factly). Joon was pathetic and shitty, but it wasn't some grand act of sadism, just a tawdry story of lashing out at someone in the wrong place who he considered an annoyance beneath his notice - a recurring theme we've come to see throughout the rest of the story. it's presented very levelly. we've seen Bethel's efforts to change, we've seen Joon understandably not wanting to have anything to do with her, studiously examined that situation from each side. it all makes depressing sense, just as the scenes of abuse in Umineko do: this is how people act in these circumstances. 'well observed' you say.
yet it's not just going there to rub our faces in how much our protagonist sucks. because the whole point is to take it seriously, not wallow in self loathing. Grak doesn't kill himself and commits to living, Bethel and Valencia take the time to work at learning from their enormous mistakes. beating up on yourself is a sort of perverse defence mechanism. if you suck irredeemably you don't have to try.
the Fel Seed Incident is thus essentially a synecdoche (drink) of Joon's spiral and of the themes it's driving at, and thus a fitting capstone battle. it's almost annoyingly well put together.
but it's also rather self aware about this. Joon has by this point figured out that he's supposed to learn things from his adventures. the protagonists try to figure out what sort of narrative they're in and talk about postmodernism. so it's probably going to be about more than that.
self-improvement is the whole selling point of the rationalist ideology: the idea that if you follow Yudkowsky's teachings you can learn to put things in a mathematical perspective that will helpfully set you straight on matters from epistemology (Bayesianism solves everything) to ethics (utilitarianism is the answer, but you need to take into account a bunch of weird edge cases) to niche causes like cryonics and AI research. in fact, it's simply a cult. with all the shit that comes with, which means yes, rape and dead bodies.
many ideas in the story draw from the rationalist milieu. Joon's plan to 'win forever', usurp the DM and create a heaven that solves suffering, is of course an oblique spin the friendly AI singularity that Yudkowsky hopes to build. the soul magic arc, with its ideas of fiddling with motivations, is also about this. it seeps in in other ways, e.g. the idea raised now and then about keeping promises so other agents will trust you to keep promises is one of the founding elements of Roko's Basilisk. other elements, like the Second Empire, seem like an extrapolation of a society run by rat ideals.
I do not like the 'd' word. reading Eva and Madoka as 'genre deconstructions' obscures much more than it reveals (and also has very little to do with whatever Derrida was getting at). but it is honestly surprising to me that this is a celebrated ratfic reads like a splendid dismantling of rationalism.
the rape angle is relevant here. Yudkowsky's story Three Worlds Collide, a story about metaethics, rather infamously presents a future human society where rape is ubiquitous and considered a mild annoyance. it's like defamiliarising or whatever - don't you see, it's just our cultural assumptions! - and if you think it is going to do anything interesting, of course not, it's just Richard Stallman levels of pigheaded edgy obliviousness.
by contrast, the arc where Bethel rapes Joon... well, it feels almost like it's running down a checklist of how to write a realistic rape. Joon is raped by someone he knows well, he clearly says no, but when this is ignored, goes along with it in part because he's hyperconscious of the possibility of sudden violence; he knows something is up but blames himself because he was physically aroused and thinks it's just arbitrary cultural hangups and because he's a guy; he is reluctant to talk about it with his friends because he doesn't want his rapist to just be killed and she's important to their organisation. his attacker is a rape survivor herself in a complicated way, and she has spun a story where she was in the right that has to be very carefully unpicked by someone close to her and then she must take time to work through and change the whole way she relates to people, and there's some uncertainty in the others whether she's actually changed or just putting up a show of it. you could basically say it's cribbed from a "transformative justice" case study, but without the buzzwords.
and like, in a metafictional story like this one, situated in a milieu founded by Yudkowsky, that seems kind of like a statement. 'pay attention class, here's how to write a rape'. that might be uncharitable - i haven't seen how other rationalist writers handle it. (you can write a web novel without rape? ha, as if.)
Amaryllis in particular is the epitome of an idealised rationalist, effective altruist model. she's not emotionless, but manages her emotions clinically, according to scientific principles. she obsessively prioritises utilitarianism over her own feelings about a situation ('purchase fuzzies and utilons separately' is how it went i think?) and relentlessly builds power in order to remake the world according to her vision. she's hypercompetent as an administrator and has bizarrely mechanical ways of dealing with her own feelings. and it generally pays off and doesn't blow up in her face! (analogy: she's kind of who Baru Cormorant thinks she is, especially at the outset when she's most indoctrinated by Farrier.)
all of this seems to be very deliberate, given how Joon and the other characters react to her, but I'm scratching my head about the endgame here. I suppose, if each companion reflects some quality of Joon, we read Amaryllis and the slow burn romance as some kind of spin on gradually being enticed by the ideal of lesswrongism itself? but this story puts such an emphasis on self-understanding that there is no way it would uncritically present Amaryllis as an ideal. and with the Tuung essentially being put through what is painted as a hyperaccelerated residential school system that's been flagged up as an impending conflict a few times, and this story consistently choosing to steer into conflict rather than take an easy out to the point that the characters notice, it has to be going somewhere with this.
I'm honestly not sure how it's going to end, at this point. obviously Joon will find Arthur and confront the Dungeon Master, maybe he'll get to immanentise his personal eschaton. it would be too cheap for him to just go back to Earth with a bunch of lessons learned, especially with the IC meta discussions signaling hard against that. but it's the kind of excited expectant wait where I think I'll be surprised.
obviously I'm hooked. it's a kind of story it's very hard to share with anyone because it's 1.65 million words long, drawing from two milieus (D&D and LessWrong) that are very familiar to me but not necessarily anyone else I know, the premise on the face of it is kind of a hard sell, and as we've just discussed it kinda goes relentlessly for the hard stuff. all in all it's a Brynbait story. if you're tempted by what's above, I'd give it a shot.
aaand damn I guess I prematurely reviewed. I wasn't going to write until I'd finished the book, but I guess I'm writing now! I'll probably see the end after sleeping so expect a followup then.
also. he really did fuck the goddamn deer (tf was involved). and it wasn't a joke but meant something. fascinating thing, this book.

do you have any bits of advice for someone about to start college as a freshman? (undergraduate)
Omfg I have lots of advice but first and foremost CONGRATULATIONS THATS VERY EXCITING!!!!!!! IT’S GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!! EVEN IF ITS A BIT SCARY AT FIRST!!!!!!
I think my biggest piece of advice is like…. Have fun with it? That sounds unhelpful and glib but I mean it. DON’T go in with rigid expectations of what your major is going to be—don’t declare asap and start your first semester already in the mindset of that major. Allow yourself the opportunity to explore all the weird fun interesting classes you would never think to take in a million years even if it has nothing to do with anything! Because that’s how you can accidentally stumble upon something life changing. Allow yourself to explore and be open minded. But also allow yourself to take a step back and completely change courses—that’s equally, if not more important. Don’t pigeonhole yourself into doing something you don’t genuinely enjoy, and honestly, even if you find yourself doing that, it’s not to late to back out. Redeclare your major if you need. Drop out if you need. There’s no moral judgements to this, it’s about what will make your life better and more enriching. Don’t focus on what you’re going to do after college right now. Focus on finding the things that genuinely interest you.
Dorm life is gross, full stop. Be respectful of the people you live with. Clean up after yourself in the bathroom, don’t blast music or have a thousand people over at 3am on a Thursday night, for the love of god please don’t try to make soup in the communal bathroom sink or eat peanut m&ms in the shower (the ramifications of which I did experience during my time as a college student, for both those examples).
Don’t leave your laundry in the washing machines or drying machines for hours after it’s finished, it’s rude as fuck.
Stock up on snacks and easy prep meals for when you get sick of dining hall food. Eat vegetables, I’m serious about that one.
Find the professors you click with. They’ll help you when things go bad.
Find the students you click with. It’s okay if it doesn’t happen immediately. I promise it will happen.
Prioritize yourself over school. I mean it. Getting sleep is more important than finishing all your assignments. I mean it. I really mean it. Sleep. Sleep. Sleep.
Morning classes in college are very different from morning classes in high school. 9am might not seem early to you now but it will feel like the asscrack of DAWN when it’s happening. Plan accordingly.
Make sure you like a teacher before committing to a class, they can make or break a semester.
Utilize the add drop period that most if not all colleges have. Shop around try out as many things possible.
Don’t overcommit. Don’t register for ten billion credits. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. In fact I am telling you right now don’t fucking do it. It’s not worth it.
If this applies to you, get the accommodations you need from your professors. If you have to go thru a service like the office of disabilities, do that. Fight for your rights. Academia wasn’t built for you, and it’s not fair, and the system works against you, but you deserve to be there and you deserve to thrive. Don’t let them cheat you out of what you need and what you deserve. You have power.
Find somebody with a car.
I could go on and on and on and on, but I’ll stop it there. I know it can feel incredibly overwhelming, and right now there are a LOT of unknowns in your life. But I promise it’s going to be good. Things will get more complicated but also much less complicated. Have fun. Make sure you’re doing what you love. I’m rooting for you and I’m in your corner!!! If you need anything please let me know!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the lovely @albonoooo tagged me to share my 10 favorite reads of 2023. oh boy, here we go.
so far i've read 61 books this year (which is below my goal grrr but whatever. when life hits you or something) so it's a tough decision. these are in no particular order:
once there were wolves - charlotte mcconaghy | a really haunting novel set in the scottish highlands revolving around a woman who is working on a project to rewild wolves to the area. the writing is brain-meltingly beautiful. please look up the content warnings tho!
middlegame - seanan mcguire | i do not know how to explain this one except it is absolutely brilliant??? about a boy and a girl with very special talents in language and maths, respectively (and they're not in love!). and like, alchemy and human experimentation. it's very weird but alas, i love weird books
girl, woman, other - bernardine evaristo | a beautifully interwoven story about the lives of twelve black British women (& other) that explores family and love in such a compelling way!!! it certainly didn't win the booker prize without reason
bunny - mona awad | if you like weird things this is the book for you. also if you enjoy unreliable narration, (toxic) female friendships and dark academia. it's a girl's right to be weird and slightly cult-ish
yellowface - r.f. kuang | i cannot make this list without mentioning r.f. kuang bc she is the loml. this book is not my favorite by her but it was certainly a banger, as always. if you're interested in topics of post-colonialism and systemic racism you should never miss out on her books
the deep - solomon rivers | magical alternate history about a mysterious mermaid population in a vaguely post-apocalyptic world. lovely portrayal of culture, (shared) memory and generational trauma
she who became the sun - shelley parker-chan | just another asian-inspired fantasy to add to my list of favorites because i just love them so much. this one was so fun and has queer and nb rep!!!
none of this is serious - catherine prasifka | i didn't really ENJOY reading this bc it kept calling me tf out the whole time. if you, like me, find yourself living in existential dread, the anxiety of a small rabbit being chased by lions, and a crippling social media addiction, this will be a fun one to get through
the raven cycle - maggie stiefvater | i've just finished my THIRD reread of this series in 5 or so odd years. yes it is that good. if you haven't read it GO NOW. it's ya but i promise it's not very ya-ish. paranormal fantasy / magical realism / legends and the most likable cast of characters you will ever see (did you say: where can i find ya books with female mcs that have a personality? the answer is HERE)
her body and other parties - carmen maria machado | i've never really read a short story collection before so this was an interesting experience. i loved some of them more than others but they're def worth a read, some even mind-boggling
sorry for rambling but if you truly expect an english major to not go on a rant about books you've been sorely mistaken
if you ever need book recs please feel free to slide into my inbox/dms i am a walking library
tagging @wanderingblindly @grubbyraccoonhands @drivestraight @maxcuntstappen and whoever wants to do it im not sure who of you reads books besides slurping down fanfic like its melted gummybears so uh.

Well, I got caught up with Remember the Flowers. And considering that doing so left me an emotional wreck at 4 in the morning. I don’t think it’s a surprise that I have a lot to say.
Now before I get into my spoiler heavy thoughts I want to say one thing: Play Remember the Flowers. I don’t care if you’re not a furry. Just do it. I cannot recommend it enough. If you want a genuinely good and refreshing isekai story with memorable characters, gorgeous art and music, an excellent sense of mystery and incredibly emotional payoffs, you will get all of that and more here, even in its current WIP state. The 13 chapters currently available are worth the experience alone (and it’s free by the way).
Now with that said, allow me talk about just why this game made such an impression on me. FULL SPOILERS FOR UP TO CHAPTER 13 BELOW. DO NOT READ ON IF YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED.
First and foremost, the structure and delivery of the story is fantastic. You experience the plot over the course of story arcs of about 4-5 chapters each, and every single one does incredible work escalating upon it itself. The pacing is something of a slow burn but every chapter still provides plenty of interesting character interactions and new things to learn about the world. And the payoff comes with the finale of each arc, all of which somehow managed to one up each other in their dramatic weight. The first arc already managed to end on the emotional gut punch of Cooper’s betrayal. The second arc took great advantage of Cyrus dealing with that emotional fallout and trying to adjust to the new status quo despite being more afraid and distrusting than ever, before the devastating revelations of his own past. The third arc has an absolute beautiful exploration of the characters’ relationship, seeing Cyrus becoming truly comfortable around this found family, many of them starting to heal from their own traumas in the fight against Resoom, before leading to an emotional tour de force that completes Cyrus’ character growth beautifully. While I think the dystopian world is interesting, I think it’s this execution and craft of of this story that really elevates it to something special.
Speaking of the characters, they’re also a delight. It’s honestly impressive that most of the actual main cast are as compelling as they are when none of them actually show up until roughly 5 hours in. Pretty much every character with prominent screentime in the first few hours is a red herring. Diana and Damion, who are first introduced as lovable supporting figures in Cyrus’ life who he longs to reunite with, turn out to be long gone given the game’s twist about its timespan. And Cooper, who is effectively the second main character when the story starts is…well we’ll get to that.
Making the player care about the resistance team when they effectively replace the people you thought were the main cast promised to be a tricky business. Fortunately, the game pulls it off marvellously as these guys are a joy. Aaron is an absolutely precious character, and if you follow my blog you’ll know I’ve gushed about him (and what absolute husband material he is) already. It’s very easy to warm to Aaron very quickly. He’s attentive and affectionate as a friend to Cyrus, especially at a point where Cyrus really needs that kind of friend, consistently selfless, a good leader. He almost feels like Mr. Perfect when you meet him. And that’s because he’s trying so SO hard to be. Learning the truth in Chapter 13 of his journey from an impoverished orphan, to a bitter thug hell-bent on violence, to a man genuinely inspired to fight for what he loves recontextualises his past kindness, but not in a bad way. He acts this way because he’s determined to prove to himself and to others that he’s not the killer he used to be. And he’s clearly holding himself to a high standard, afraid that anything less than his best would be enough to make Cyrus see him as the monster he still believes he is. Even now knowing little about his history with his lover Xavier and the role that played in redeeming him, there’s something powerful in just how much of an inspiration he was to Aaron. We don’t know fully who Xavier was. But we can definitely see who Aaron is now and that is an unequivocally good person. By the time it really becomes apparent that Aaron as being set up as the actual love interest, it’s very easy to already fall for him.
And the rest of the cast is also excellent. Canto’s standoffish nature is contrasted by the fact that he’s just genuinely a funny and entertaining presence in the narrative. Karin’s boundless enthusiasm and energy, mixed with a punch first, ask questions latter attitude but also a genuine love for her friends is consistently endearing. Vita’s quiet, business like manner conceals a character who ends up becoming a kindred spirit, one of the few who can really understand what Cyrus is going through. And their own steady growth to overcome the damage done to them physically and emotionally by Resoom leads to some truly poignant payoffs. Silver, despite being the last character to be introduced properly, more than makes up for it with a strong first impression. His quickly blooming friendship with Cyrus is a pleasant contrast that prevents him feeling the ‘edgy dude with a sad backstory’ trope. In fact, watching Cyrus and Silver empathise with each other over their experiences in one scene, and comfortably joke around each other as roomies in the next, feels natural and cathartic.
These guys genuinely feel like a found family before long. Cyrus’ steadily growing attachment to them feels earned. And seeing him heal from the terrible things he’s endured with a group of people who love and support him is incredibly heartwarming.
But I want to focus my discussion on two characters who particularly stuck with me. The first is the resident bastion of controversy, Cooper, or Lance I guess I should say. Suffice to say my earlier post about how I knew he was a polarising character but was liking him so far aged…interestingly to say the least. Seeing Cooper’s early impression of a rough around the edges bad boy with moments of emotional sincerity quickly come crashing down as he’s revealed to be a selfish merc willing to sacrifice innocent lives for a quick buck was a horrible shock to be sure. The story succeeds at making you genuinely like Cooper and his seeming budding friendship with Cyrus. Which makes the reveal all the more heartwrenching. Any kind of ‘I can fix him’ charm is utterly dismantled. Because even if that was real, even if there was a connection here, Lance still chose to throw that away. And we know now it’s not the first time he’s thrown away people he cares for out of selfishness. Still, piece of scum though he is, I was hoping Lance would make a reappearance eventually as I was genuinely curious where they were planning to take his character next. Especially as Cyrus meets and tries to bond with Lance’s former teammates who themselves have been hurt by the guy in the past.
What really fascinated me was when we started changing perspective to follow what happened to Lance after he sold out Cyrus. It was definitely interesting to see him at such a low point. Having all his actions bite him in the ass seemed to make him briefly realise how much he’s screwed himself and everyone around him. While spiralling in self loathing he’s forced to admit what a despicable person he’s been and even expresses regret for what he did to Cyrus. It’s clear that there’s a lot of anger, bitterness at his life, grief over his lost friend and pure simple selfishness that’s brought him to this point. But maybe, just maybe, spending time with Cyrus, did make him start to remember what it’s like to actually give a damn about someone else and to be cared about in turn. Reminded him of everything he’s thrown away. For one moment, you think he might be starting to get it. Might be taking that first step to be a better man like you’ve seen hints he’s capable of being…
And then when Artemis brings his old team up, and all those feelings of anger, jealousy, grief and resentment, that thickheaded belief that he’s the victim in all this, comes back full force. And before you know it, he’s in too deep, utterly in Resoom’s pocket and unable to get out of it if he even wanted to, It reminds me of that one scene from Bojack. ‘You can’t keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about it like that makes it ok.’ Much like that show, there’s something so maddening about seeing someone who has the potential to be better being so close to a breakthrough only to slide right back into the same self destructive impulses and be right back where they started.
This man is a fascinating trainwreck of character and I want to study him with a microscope like a cockroach but he also makes me want to rip my hair out. Despite being one of the most despicable members of the cast, he’s probably the one I’m most interested to see where his character goes. As a foil to a cast who all have baggage and have all done bad stuff in the past, but all ultimately make the effort to be better and work for something other than themselves, Lance makes a very effective counterpart. While they collectively heal, he is continuing to spiral, and I can’t wait for the inevitable confrontation, however it turns out.
And last of all I want to talk about our protagonist, Cyrus Cantwell, who might be my favourite member of the entire cast. The first few chapters do a good job establishing Cyrus as a protagonist with a refreshing amount of backbone and spirit given his situation. His back and forth with Lance (pre-reveal) establishes him as someone determined to get home, but increasingly frustrated over his powerlessness in this new setting. He’s inquisitive, intelligent and empathetic but he doesn’t put up with people’s crap, all of which makes him pretty immediately likable. But it’s the second arc where he really comes into his own as a character. Having been sold out by the one person he’d formed any attachment to in this strange new world, Cyrus’ dynamic to the resistance team is very different. He’s much more guarded. Much more jaded, dead set on getting away from his apparent rescuers pretty much from the word ‘go.’ But he slowly starts to respond to their unconditional warmth and kindness, the kind he hasn’t experienced in a very, very long time. And he’s gonna need it because this leads directly into the emotional turmoil that is Chapter 9.
This is probably ‘that one moment’ for people who’ve played the game. The truth finally comes out. Cyrus’ history as a test subject of Resoom for 300 years. Centuries of traumatic suffering locked away in his lost memories. And worst of all, the earth shattering revelation that Damion, Diana, his parents, all the loved ones in his scraps of memory he’s been trying to get back to, are all long since dead and gone. The life Cyrus once had is gone and he can never get it back. The delivery of this scene is phenomenal and Cyrus’ reaction over the next few days, from sheer emotional numbness until he finally lets himself feel it with Aaron’s help, is agonising.
…And yet. Despite everything, Cyrus slowly recovers. Over the third arc we see him carve out a new routine at the resistance base. His new friends support him in that process, and he in turn does what he can to help them. All of which builds up to one more emotional tour de force, yes, even more than the last two.
Cyrus’ return to his old home, after centuries of decay, is a devastating moment of grief, but it’s also one of genuine catharthis. Cyrus is able to say goodbye to the life he left behind and let go. But not before he finds one last gift (and this is what had me almost sobbing at my computer). A final set of messages and parting gifts left buried as a time capsule by his loved ones, knowing they’ll never see him again. Throughout this story, Cyrus has been asking himself who he is in this new reality, with or without his memories. He’s been pulled into a resistance against a despicable organisation who ruined his life, but he’s not sure what he’s fighting for. Seeing these last messages reminds of what kind of person he was and is. The empathy and concern for others and dedication he’s always had. And now he’s ready to fight for both the family he’s lost and the one he’s gained. So they can all live the life they deserved. It’s a beautiful resolution to an arc of self actualisation and identity that we’ve seen play out over all 13 chapters. And I for one can’t wait to see where we go next.
There’s a lot to love about Remember the Flowers: Its beautiful art, with every character design full of striking personality. The deliberate, excellent pacing of its story and reveals. Or the emotional, poignant journey of self discovery and healing at its core. And I have faith that it’s only going to get even more remarkable from here.

Creature Collectors to Consider:
Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2
Personally, MHS 2 is my favorite non-Pokémon creature collector and perhaps, my favorite creature collector of all time. The gameplay is easy to pick up and downright beautiful. While I don’t think you need to play the original Monster Hunter Stories to get into its sequel, just know that there are a few familiar faces from the original game that return so if you want to know of them first, look into playing them in order!
In a world where Hunters lay their lives on the line to protect the peace from great and powerful monsters, Riders take on a more daunting task elsewhere: stealing Monstie eggs, bonding with Monsties and charging into battle with them!
Set in the world of Monster Hunter, these lovely creature collectors have you taking on the role of a promising young Rider bonded to a Rathalos of untold destiny. Assemble Monsties of all classes and prevent the world around you from falling in disarray as you journey into Monster Hunter Stories!
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition
Part JRPG, part visual novel, all creature collector goodness.
I absolutely adore Digimon and will never understand why so many people opted out of giving it a chance, simply because of stupid jokes about it ripping off Pokémon when neither are alike. I will say the complexities of the evolutionary system in Digimon may be a turn off to some, but I guarantee you won’t want to miss out on what is arguably the best places to start if you want to check out their games.
Take on the role of a cyber detective in the original Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth or a cyber hacker in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth— Hacker’s Memory as you explore the Digital World. Uncover mysteries that blur the line between two worlds and encounter hundreds of Digimon in each of these epic sci-fi adventures!
Yo-Kai Watch
Speaking objectively as a fan of this genre, Yo-Kai Watch seriously has some of the most creative gameplay I have seen come out of the creature collector genre (in addition to two other games listed right after this). I firmly believe this franchise was given way too much of a bad rap when it first hit the shelves, and deserves all the love for both its creative gameplay and its diverse creature design factor!
Cassette Beasts
You wanna talk a game that has been REALLY killing it in the gameplay department? Cassette Beasts. Use your tape to record monsters, play it back and transform to dominate the competition; you can even fuse forms to create a totally new Cassette Beast for more power!
The creativity I have seen come out of this game is something serious. If you’re looking for a real refresher, I highly recommend you give it a shot.
Ooblets
Now, I will preface this by saying: if you’re not the type for cozy creature collectors, then this may not be for you. It’s more akin to games such as Paleo Pines. Ooblets is a lighthearted farming sim and creature collector in which you use seeds to grow your little friends, the Ooblets!
That being said, the game does have a combat system— just not the kind you would expect! Enter your little plant friends into funky dance battles to settle differences; each Ooblet has their own set of moves worth unlocking, so don’t be afraid to get your groove on!
Coromon
If you want an experience that is relatively closer to Pokémon in terms of execution, then your best bet is with these last few recommendations. Simple, sweet and satisfying to boot, Coromon is a passion project jam-packed with content that is sure to capture the heart of many a fan seeking refuge from Pokémon, its fandom and its flaws.
With a variety of difficulty options, a Randomizer mode, a Nuzlocke mode and a completely customizable experience, Coromon is the place to be for a truly enriching adventure!
Nexomon
Much like Coromon, Nexomon is a creature collector that is not shy when it comes to showing off its inspirations but absolutely excels at forging its own identity.
Through its smooth animation, lovingly detailed environments and hundreds of charming Nexomon to choose from and battle, Nexomon and its sequel, Nexomon: Extinction, are worthwhile options for longtime fans of Pokémon and creature collectors in general who are looking to stretch their legs with something that feels equally new and familiar!
Itching for something with a classic feel? Give these games a try!
These indie games scratch that specific itch with their likeness to classic Pokémon games, but that only scratches the surface of their quality.
• Disc Creatures
Consider Disc Creatures for its place as a love letter to old school JRPGs, such as Pokémon Red and Blue as well as Dragon Quest Monsters.
• Monster Sanctuary
Check out Monster Sanctuary for its metroidvania mechanics, sure to enthrall all who love to explore their games.
• Monster Crown
Look into Monster Crown for its unique breeding system and mature storytelling.
Each of the games I’ve recommended are wonderful additions to the creature collector genre. Please spend your money wisely, preferably on projects that had real work put into them.
We need to show our support for games with real passion and ingenuity behind them, not games that steal and cut corners especially when those behind it do not care about artistry.
We can’t hope for a better future for our games if we put that hope in the hands of people who will only taint it going forward.
Gonna say this as someone who has been critical of Game Freak both as a fan and as someone with a Pokémon SPIN for a while now:
Do not support Palworld.
The CEO of Pocket Pair, the game’s studio, openly supports AI and even made a game where making AI-generated art is its main mechanic.
Palworld is not Pocket Pair’s first instance of plagiarism, either. Their previous game, Craftopia, plagiarizes Breath of the Wild, whereas as its upcoming game, Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse, plagiarizes from independent developer Team Cherry’s game, Hollow Knight.
On top of stolen character models and concepts from fakemon artists, it’s already known that you can put Pals through what is basically slave labor BUT what’s been recently discovered is that the game allows you to capture and sell humans. This has been raising some red flags for black gamers looking into these mechanics, me included, considering this factors into the established slave labor system of Palworld.
TL;DR: I completely understand being tired of Game Freak and the Pokémon Company’s lack of polish over the years, but supporting something that is just as devoid of polish is not the way to make those criticisms clearer. This will only encourage more soullessness in the industry.
I implore you to support other creature collectors with some real passion behind them; I will reblog this post with recommendations shortly!

What will make you follow a blog? What will make you not follow and/or unfollow a blog?
Mun Preferences
What will make you follow a blog?
The first biggest thing is familiarity. I have a hard time writing with topics, characters, and worlds I'm not familiar with, even if the writing of the mun is fucking amazing. Part of this is because I know I'm bound to get certain things wrong that the other person more familiar with whatever material is going to hone in on instantly.
This has always been my preference, but now its a hard rule because I've had experiences with past partners coercing me into writing in unfamiliar territory and then getting mad at me for getting things wrong, like dropping threads without telling me and then getting really passive-aggressive when I asked if we were still doing those threads, even though they knew from the start I wasn't familiar with their source material and said it was fine that I wasn't familiar prior.
Second things I look for is writing ability and, if its a canon character, how on-point they are. I obviously prefer Para RP so I try to find other Para RPers whenever possible.
Likewise, with canons, I look to see if they can really write that character adequately. If I can read their posts and the tone says "Yep, this feels like something I can actually see the character doing/saying", then I'm more likely to follow. Its really immersion-breaking for me and destroys my writing motivation trying to interact with another muse if they're too inaccurate from their source material.
Obviously I'll be a little more lenient when someone is making an obvious effort to be canon-divergent and is upfront about that, though it depends on why and how they're being canon divergent. "I want to explore possibilities I don't get otherwise" vs "I want to erase parts of canon I just don't like and woobify the fuck out of this character into being my Perfect Barbie/Ken Doll Who Can Do No Wrong Ever".
Activity is also another thing, but its not the be-all, end-all. Some people are busy and generally inactive, but when they do write, its worth the wait.
Other people are active Aaaaaalll the time, but you will never personally get an interaction with them regardless because they're either completely swamped already (I've actually followed blogs before that bragged about having over 1,000 drafts and promising they "definitely answer them all" ; that was a quick unfollow from me) or only reply to favorites and never branch out beyond that. But there's no point in following a blog that's clearly completely dead in the water and not coming back ever either.
Also, though not usually an issue that comes up, how someone is OOC on their dash. I don't mean that someone is necessarily "nice" and "sweet". Personally I prefer more down-to-earth, real people, and real isn't always sunshine and rainbows. If someone is too flowery and uppity, I'm very "meh" because people who put on too much of a show about how nice and sweet they are always turn out to be nasty behind closed doors or the moment their Perfect World bubble is burst.
There are very few times where I've found this didn't turn out to be the case. And the people who constantly talk about how nice they are are usually the worst of them. Genuinely nice people don't generally talk about how nice they are. They don't have to because their actions speak for them. The ones who constantly talk about it is because they're trying to convince you they are (and maybe convince themselves too) when their actions don't support it.
But likewise making sure people aren't over-the-top negative to the point of stupid hostilities, considering I've seen a few blogs here and there that post straight up in-your-face racism, sexism, death/suicide wishes, and more on their blogs. Big yikes. They're rare, but trust me, they exist and I've seen them.
It just has to feel like the person on the blog is human and not just some robot or playing the part of a celebrity always hiding behind glitz and glamour all the time.
Generally though my standards are fairly low on what will get a pass from me for a follow. I'll still follow people if they have things like DNI's about other users, or make occasional vents or vagues when they're having a tough time. Permission to be human and all that.
But there are definitely some deal-breakers for me.
What will make you not follow and/or unfollow a blog?
Bigotry of any kind. And I'm not talking about just what its popular to call "bigotry". Or bigotry only against "marginalized" groups. Hate is hate, even if its currently considered socially acceptable or the "right" people to hate at the time.
You want to make a big show about hating people who are white, straight, cis, male, abled, etc? Talk about how all cops should die? Be openly racist towards all people of XYZ groups just because of some conflict currently happening in the world?
Then bye Felicia. I don't want you in my corner.
Hate individuals for actions they have personally done themselves, but generalized hate is still just bigotry no matter who the group in question is and that's how you feed the cycle, not break it.
People who are very clearly hypocrites, I avoid like the plague. If you put "I'm against drama and callout culture" in your rules but then I see you actively engaging in drama, especially on a regular basis, I don't want anything to do with you because you're two-faced and what you more often ACTUALLY mean is you don't want to be held responsible for YOUR drama.
I would much rather deal with someone who flat out says they've been part of or responsible for drama because at least they're being honest and you know what you're getting into. But Jekyll and Hyde types that try to gaslight you that they're against that kind of thing or that they're always only ever a victim? No thanks. That's a quick recipe for a shit sandwich you didn't think you were going to bite into.
If people are too inundated with Identity Culture politics, that's also something I avoid, especially if those people are clearly projecting/self-inserting into their characters. I generally subscribe to mun=/=muse as a default but there are definitely times where some people DO blur the lines between mun and muse way too much and it becomes real obvious when they do.
Fetish content or people who are obviously obsessed with shipping, smutting, and NSFW. People who just write stuff once and a while or as part of a natural progression of characters/plots is one thing, its another when that's clearly ALL someone cares about. More often than not, such people are obsessed with smut and NSFW because they're using it to titillate themselves. Big fucking No-Thank-You.
Its not immediate grounds for not following/unfollowing, but I'm not super likely to follow/engage with genderbent/sexbent or transbent versions of canon characters. Nothing personally against it, but I find more often than not such muses are either fetishized or thinly veiled self-inserts using canons as a faceclaim "character".
I definitely won't follow if the mun writing the character has any sort of "this character is better now because I made them trans" attitude about it, which I've seen a lot and especially in some other fandoms, because its ironically incredibly dehumanizing and a real obvious sign of seeing trans people as a fetish and status symbol instead of actual human beings who are equally valuable no matter what superficial traits/labels they have.
Same with other things like sexuality, race, etc.
So you can bet that those people also feel perfectly comfortable dehumanizing other REAL people based on superficial reasons too, and that's a whole carousel of bullshit and pointless hatred I definitely don't want to ride.
#ooc#Answered: Cor#politics tw#negativity tw#negative stuff and political talk under the cut#{--I could prob think of more but off the top of my head this was all that came to mind--}

👉 BUY HERSOLUTION GEL AND DISCOVER NEW HEIGHTS
Vigorelle Vs Hersolution Gel
When it comes to enhancing intimacy, choosing the right product can feel overwhelming.
I've been there, weighing options like Vigorelle and Hersolution Gel.
These two gels promise to amp up your experience, but how do they stack up against each other?
Let’s break it down.
Ingredients That Matter
The first thing I look at is what goes into these products.
Hersolution Arousal Gel boasts a blend of natural ingredients designed to boost sensitivity and arousal.
It’s formulated with:
L-arginine: Helps improve blood flow.
Ginseng: Known for its energising properties.
Peppermint oil: Adds a cooling sensation that many find pleasurable.
On the flip side, Vigorelle also uses natural ingredients but leans heavily on botanical extracts.
While both gels are made with quality in mind, the ingredient list of Hersolution Gel feels more targeted towards enhancing pleasure directly.
Ease of Use
Next up is application.
Both gels come in easy-to-use tubes, but let’s talk about how they feel during use.
Hersolution Gel has a smooth texture that absorbs quickly without leaving a sticky residue.
It’s perfect for those spontaneous moments when you don’t want anything getting in the way.
In contrast, some users have noted that Vigorelle takes longer to absorb and can feel slightly tacky afterward.
For me, ease of use is crucial. I want something that enhances my experience without any fuss.
Sensation and Effectiveness
Now onto the juicy part—how do they actually perform?
With Hersolution Arousal Gel, many users report an immediate increase in sensitivity and heightened arousal within minutes of application.
I’ve had friends share their experiences:
"I applied it before date night, and wow! The sensations were incredible! It was like rediscovering intimacy all over again." — Sarah, 32
That kind of feedback speaks volumes about its effectiveness.
On the other hand, while some users appreciate the effects of Vigorelle, others say it takes longer to kick in and doesn’t always deliver the same intensity as Hersolution Gel.
Customer Feedback
Listening to real experiences helps clarify things further.
For instance:
"I tried Vigorelle first but switched to Hersolution after just one use. The difference was night and day!" — James, 28
That sentiment isn’t rare among those who switch from Vigorelle to Hersolution Gel after realising what they were missing out on.
People seem drawn towards the quick results offered by Hersolution Arousal Gel compared to its competitor.
Price Point Considerations
Finally, let's chat about cost because we all want value for our money!
While prices may fluctuate depending on where you shop, generally speaking:
Hersolution Gel often comes at a competitive price point for what you get.
Vigorelle, while sometimes cheaper upfront, may not offer the same bang for your buck if you're looking for effectiveness right off the bat.
In my book? Investing in something that works well is worth every penny!
Final Thoughts
So here we are: when comparing Vigorelle vs Hersolution Gel, it's clear which one leads in several key areas—ingredients, ease of use, effectiveness, customer satisfaction—and yes—even price value!
If you're serious about enhancing your intimate moments without complications or delays,
give Hersolution Arousal Gel a shot!
Trust me; you won’t regret it!
👉 BUY HERSOLUTION GEL FOR A THRILLING EXPERIENCE
How To Use Hersolution Gel
Let’s talk about something real.
You’ve heard the buzz about HerSolution Gel.
Maybe you’re curious, maybe you’re skeptical.
Either way, if you're looking to spice things up or enhance your intimate moments, knowing how to use HerSolution Gel is crucial.
I remember when I first came across it.
I had a friend who couldn’t stop raving about it.
She said it changed her life.
That got me thinking—what's the secret sauce?
So, let's break down how to apply this gel effectively and get the most out of it.
Hersolution Gel How To Apply: Step-By-Step Guide
Start with Clean Skin
Make sure the area is clean and dry.
This isn’t just for hygiene; it helps the gel work better.

Morocco is truly one of the best travel destinations in the world, and whether you’re planning to visit alone, with a loved one, or with family and friends, you’re guaranteed to have an amazing experience.
But, if you haven’t been to Morocco yet, you’re probably asking yourself, “What are the best places to visit in Morocco in 2024?” Well, I’m here to give you all the details. So, sit back, relax, and let’s dive into the must-see spots. You won’t want to miss this!
1. Marrakech: The City That Never Sleeps
First up, Marrakech! If you haven’t been to Morocco before, this is a city you have to visit in 2024. It’s alive with energy and colors, and I promise you’ll feel it the moment you step foot there. Marrakech is known for its mix of old and new, with traditional souks and palaces blending with trendy cafés and luxury hotels.
You can’t come to Marrakech and not visit Jemaa el-Fna, the famous square where you’ll find everything from snake charmers to street food that will blow your mind. During the day, it’s all about shopping and exploring. By night, the square transforms into a vibrant place with food stalls and music. Don’t miss out on trying a traditional tagine—it’s something you’ll never forget!
And, of course, if you’re into history and architecture, the Bahia Palace and Koutoubia Mosque are must-see landmarks. Marrakech really has it all.
2. Chefchaouen: Morocco’s Beautiful Blue Town
Next, let’s talk about Chefchaouen. This is one of those places you just have to visit if you love stunning scenery and a relaxed vibe. Chefchaouen is a small town in the Rif Mountains, and what makes it unique is its striking blue buildings. Everywhere you go, it’s like you’re walking through a dream. And believe me, you’ll want to take pictures everywhere!
Chefchaouen is the perfect spot for those looking to unwind and soak in the beauty of Morocco. Wander through the narrow streets, grab a mint tea at a local café, and just enjoy the slower pace of life. If you’re into hiking, you can take a walk up to the Spanish Mosque to get an amazing view of the town below. It’s a bit of a climb, but trust me, it’s worth it!
3. The Sahara Desert: An Unforgettable Experience
Now, you can’t come to Morocco and not visit the Sahara Desert. It’s one of those places that will take your breath away. Whether you’re into adventure or just want to experience something completely different, the Sahara has it all. From camel treks over golden dunes to watching the sun set over the horizon, every moment in the desert feels like magic.
Start your journey from Merzouga, a popular spot for desert tours, and prepare yourself for a night under the stars in a traditional Berber camp. Imagine sitting by a campfire, enjoying local food, and then gazing up at the sky—it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.
If you’re up for more excitement, you can try sandboarding or take a 4×4 tour through the dunes. Whether you’re looking for adventure or peace, the Sahara Desert is a place you’ll remember forever.
4. Fes: A Step Back in Time
For those of you who love history and culture, Fes is the city to visit in 2024. It’s known as Morocco’s cultural capital, and walking through its ancient streets feels like you’ve stepped back in time. Fes is home to the world’s oldest university, Al Quaraouiyine, and it’s a place where tradition is still very much alive.
One of the coolest things to do in Fes is visit the Chouara Tannery, where they’ve been dyeing leather the same way for centuries. It’s a colorful and fascinating experience that you won’t see anywhere else. Plus, Fes is full of markets where you can shop for handcrafted goods, from ceramics to textiles.
The Fes el-Bali Medina, with its winding alleys and historic architecture, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and trust me, it’s not hard to see why. It’s one of those places that stays with you long after you leave.
5. Essaouira: A Beach Lover’s Paradise
Lastly, if you love the sea, you have to visit Essaouira. This coastal town is the perfect blend of beach life and culture. Whether you want to spend your days relaxing by the ocean or exploring the town’s medina, Essaouira has something for everyone.
The town’s beaches are perfect for windsurfing, kitesurfing, or just soaking up the sun. And when you’re done with the beach, head into the medina for some shopping and delicious seafood. Essaouira is known for its fresh fish, so make sure you try some while you’re there!
