#I DIDNT KNOW I DIDNT KNOWWWWW #when i say damn thats crazy its bc i DO think its crazy i think a lot of things are crazy. like how birds have cloacas #or the way ppl draw a five pointed star in different ways and everyone assumes their way of doing it is how everyone does it #my brother is not letting me live this down btw he literally shouted at me like HOW DID YOU LIVE THIS LONG AND NOT PICK UP ON THAT #IDK!!! IDK I THOUGHT SOMETIMES IT COULD BE USED TO EXPRESS GENUINE SHOCK??????#he says its my delivery that makes it sound insincere bc i say it in a monotonous voice which when i think abt it YEAH....#THAT DOES MAKE IT LOOK KINDA BAD IN HINDSIGHT.....#and then i told him i keep a list of phrases that tickle my brain so i can remember to use them in conversation and apparently #most ppl dont do that bc he was like ???? stop doing that??? just let the conversation flow naturally it sounds fake>????#idk man i feel like if i did that and blurted out 'i forgot people find stuff like underwear arousing for some reason' instead of #smth like 'i wonder what kind of ppl find this kind of stuff the bees knees' like i normally do. it would. not go so well.#ALSO THE FLOW CHARTS ARENT NORMAL? i make flow charts before i call the bank or smth so i know what to say #its not just to blend in its also so i dont waste ppls time going uhhhhh as i think of how i put smth into words #its called stalling for time and i dont care if i have to say smth like thats just how the cookie crumbles if it gives me #5 more seconds to process whatever the fuck someone said without letting them think im not paying attention #doodles #diary #sona #puppysona #comics

Some days I actually feel like I'm settling into this job as a program manager and I'm fucking killing it, ya know. I am 27. I'm in the region I want to live in forever. I'm managing, coordinating and facilitating multiple community education programs every week. I'm onboarding and placing volunteers. I've got a dog and am on a mission to be consistent training her every day and have training goals. I wake up feeling so stressed with this pit in my stomach most days but I really need to remind myself that that's just my brain and anxiety and doesn't actually mean I'm not "doing a good job" or that something is wrong or whatever. Things are so good, and I just have to keep reminding myself of that fact until my body can believe it and settle in here.

#plus i finally got a doctors appointment to get a primary care doc next month and #ive been raw dogging reality after tappering off multiple medications which really helped me #when i found out id be moving and knew id have a lapse in onsirance and mesical access #which in hindsight #brilliant on my part bc i dodnt have to suddenly quit everything cold turkey unexpectedly #but yeah... meds to help me sleep through the night again are gonna be lifechanging #my sleep quality is so bad without meds and i know thats why i wake up hatinf life every day and it takes a few hours not to lol

So I got this matcha green tea concentrate, and I used my kettle for measurement. For iced, 5 oz. of hot water and 5 tbs. of the concentrate powder. The measurements displayed on the kettle were not in ounces, they were in cups... a single cup is 8 ounces...

So anyway, my tea is very very weak, and I have a lot of it.

#it does not display the name of the measurement just a number and the icon of a mug...#which in hindsight #i should've realized meant cups #plus cups are way larger than an oumce so i REALLY should have realized #*ounce

went to the polar research institute in cambridge today!!! I was mainly hunting for franklin exhibition stuff (the terror has infected my brain), but the antarctic expedition stuff was fascinating too. especially the endurance- the fact that shackleton managed to get all the men out is insane???

Ig submas was probably the biggest fandom hyperxiation I've had really but. I'll probably never be able to enjoy something like that again without feeling immensely guilty + selfish to be real. At this point whenever I feel something like that developing I've gotten pretty good at just beating my brain down until the fixation starves and dies out

love when a companion’s themes & conflicts dovetail with my character’s perfectly so that in my head a conversation can be about a bunch of things it for sure isn’t about

#talking to davrin as sol is great.#also one thing i enjoy about veilguard is how many companion conversations actually come down to their ultimate hero of the veilguard choice #in a way that wasnt obvious when you didnt know what that binary would be #like davrin talking about bad people who join the wardens and seeing them change #and thats ultimately about whether assan & the griffons can have a different future than their pre-established nature #which is ultimately about whether davrin has a future past the early grave he initially envisioned #its tightly connected with hindsight in a way i find pleasing #veilguard spoilers

feelin real foolish for stocking up on trick or treat supplies instead of groceries over the last two months

#it's for the kids i say through gritted teeth as we go into our one month of bills savings to afford food #looking at the amount of stuff we've collected to give our for halloween vs our current struggles is big 2020 hindsight but #whatever it'll hopefully be fine #we live in a poor neighborhood and as a fellow poor kid halloween was the best holiday i wanted to go all out #and any of the toys can be reused as handouts next year #so there's that #tho i assume the toys will be popular which is why we got them #idk about yall but toys and things were MY fave #edit cuz id be nosey too but for clarity “overspending” on halloween instead of groceries means over the last two months or so we have #spent about $150 on Halloween toys and candy to give out #spread out over the two months #so its not that much in todays world but when money is tight and $150 is your grocery money it kinda an L #still excited to do this for this kids tho #i will post pics of the table

Broke (2016): BBC Sherlock is a phenomenal piece of media and anything that seems like a flaw just hasn't been fully explored yet

Woke (2020): BBC Sherlock is an incredibly flawed series run by an egotistical writer, it never deserved the hype and is actively bad on so many fronts (especially representation)

Bespoke (2024): BBC Sherlock is flawed and bogged down by increasingly poor writing, which many fans refused to see while it was airing, leading to hugely misplaced expectations (particularly for the final series), AND it has the seeds of some compelling characterizations and portrayals, some genuinely solid performances, and touches--albeit imperfectly--on complexities that are still being discussed today (particularly as it relates to the relationship between Sherlock and John). The huge cultural impact of the show has created a massive pendulum effect in its public perception, leading to most people today remembering a caricature of the show (whether positive or negative) rather than appreciating its nuanced merits and failings...that being said Season 4 sucked

#these just sum up my personal takes at the years in question and also what i'm seeing on tumblr/other social media #bbc sherlock #sherlock holmes #and i actually have a lot more thoughts to share on this series #specifically relating to the cultural impact #there is SO much about the show that goes unappreciated in hindsight because of how public perception of it has soured #and i totally fell into this as well--i still regularly rewatch hbomberguy's video absolutely dismantling the series and he isn't wrong!!#but what i'm saying is that i think it's easy for us to look at a piece of media (especially one so massively popular) like sherlock...#with very black-and-white lenses. it wouldn't have become so popular if there wasn't something inherent in it that resonated with people #and that's being buried (and i totally forgot it) because 'sherlock is cringe and problematic. can't believe i liked that'#which again it IS full of issues and those are well-documented as they should be. future portrayals should not repeat those mistakes #BUT being able to impact so many people is a merit in itself. and that's only possible because of other genuinely good things about the show #yes the way they handled the relationship between john and sherlock was riddled with problems YES it was often queerbaiting #AND the way they portrayed that relationship had a deep effect on me. i saw a lot of myself in sherlock and the complex way he loved john #the nuanced feelings he had about john's marriage to mary. the part (in s4!) where john calls him inhuman for not feeling romantic love #there was genuine intention and care put into some parts of this show and it comes through in scenes like those. they impact people.#and because of this realization i'm going to (eventually) do a rewatch of the show. i'm much older and i want to see how i'll view it now #but i want to go into it--and i want everyone who engages with it still--to have an open mind and evaluate it for what it is #not what we expected it to be (secret episode anyone?) or what the cultural drift has turned it into (the tiktok of sherlock's mind palace)#but the messy problematic somewhat-heartfelt massively significant and ultimately meaningful piece of media it actually was #anyway that's my thoughts would love to hear y'all's perspectives #funny how after all this time making a sherlock post still feels like i'm poking a bees' nest lol please be kind!#kay can i just catch my breath for a second #kay has a party in the tags
