You are someone that needs a lot of recognition, even from yourself and you’re not getting any where you are right now. Are you proud of yourself? I doubt it. Society's Sins

@laughingsour: You mentioned before how Mammon is the only one of the sins who doesn't sing a song to introduce himself and his character during his own first apperance, rather his introduction is by him stealing songs from more talented performers. You noticed how Satan stands in between as he does steal Stolas and Blitzø's song but unlike Mammon he's actually singing himself?

Thank you so much for this ask! It gives me the chance to share some thoughts I have about the episode (which I loved) and the series, as a whole. So, the focus will be the Sins and their thematic role in the story.

First of all, some considerations about the Sins in general.

So far, Ozzie, Bee, Mammon and Satan are the Sins, who have been properly introduced.

Lucifer is a Hazbin Hotel character, so he will most likely not appear in Helluva. However, he is referenced multiple times and his character is very important, even if he is absent (precisely because he is absent tbh).

Leviathan and Belphegor have appeared, but they have yet to speak, so we know very little of them. They will probably get a proper introduction later on in the series.

So, let's focus on the 4 Sins that got at least one episode dedicated to them:

Season 1 has Ozzie and Bee appear - They are positive characters and helpers, as Ozzie gives Blitz the crystal and Bee is kind with Loona at her party. Even in Mastermind, they are the only Sins, who speak in I.M.P.'s favor.

Season 2 has Mammon and Satan appear - They are negative characters and antagonists, as Mammon mistreats Fizz and Satan punishes Blitz and Stolas. Mastermind has them being the most vocal against imps, in general.

At the same time (and here we come to your ask), each Sin gets an introductory song about their vice. Let's go deeper.

SINGING SINS

Asmodeus, King of Lust, has House of Asmodeus:

Asmodeus: You singing love songs in my lustful lounge? Fizzarolli: Ozzie's ain't the place for sentimental sounds! Asmodeus: What'd you expect from a proprietor like us? Fizzarolli: Your demon host, Asmodeus, the embodiment of lust! Asmodeus: Give me a thrust! Fizzarolli: Bwabwabwabwa bwaaaah- Asmodeus: Show me some lust From the groin to the bust In desire, we trust In the house of Asmodeus

The song is an exploration of lust (FizzXOzzie) vs love (MoxxiexMillie) and it's solved by Moxxie and Millie winning and kissing. The final message is that romantic love doesn't weaken lust, but makes it stronger. Later on in the series Ozzie himself embraces this idea and sings the song "Crooked", which empowers his "lust" with "love".

Beelzebub, Queen of Gluttony, has Cotton Candy:

Hey! I'm whatchu need, I'm watchu want I got it all, a carnival I'll bring you up, I'll take you down I'm sticky sweet, stuck in your teeth Like cotton candy Cotton candy (Ah-ah, ah-ah) Cotton candy (Ah-ah, ah-oh) Cotton candy (Ah-ah, ah-ah) I'm whatchu want Not watchu need (Ah-ah, ah-oh)

The song is Bee introducing herself as "cotton-candy". She is an "eye-candy", who loves partying and sharing food with her guests. In exchange, she enjoys others' emotions of happiness and fun, in a virtuous cycle. She basically likes eating healthy, at least emotionally speaking :P

Mammon, King of Greed, sings no song, but has his debut episode called: "Mammon's magnificent musical mid-season special (ft Fizzarolli)".

In other words, all the songs featured in the mid-season special are Mammon's songs. They do not directly say anything about greed, but they comment on this sin in a meta-narrative way. The Sin of Greed is a talentless performer, but he steals others' talents, so his songs are stolen songs. Loo Loo Land is the perfect example of this:

I have a dream (He has a dream) I'm here to tell (He's here to tell) About a magical fantastic place Called Loo Loo Land

After all, the song itself is about Mammon profiting of Lucifer's Lu Lu World theme park. It's sung by RoboFizz, which is Mammon's way to exploit Fizz's voice and body. As a cherry on top, it is a rip off of Charlie's Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow. It is the perfect embodiment of greed.

What about Satan, King of Wrath?

Satan is just as special a case as Mammon is, but in a different way. As you said, he sings, but not his own song. Rather, he steals Stolas’s. Why? I think that he sings someone else's song to convey he is trying to pass up as someone he isn't:

Satan: I am the mastermind, and here I am the law I've ruled the endless dark Since long before the golden angel's fall

He claims he was the First King of Hell, before Lucifer's fall. However, Word of God clarified this is a lie. So, Satan isn't the Master of Hell, but he acts like him. Similarly, Mastermind is not his song, but he takes it over to affirm his authority. Not only this, but his stanza is pretty ironic:

So you see Next to me, your master plans all look so small Little mice When you break my rules You pay the price!

Satan says he is able to see through others' plans, but throughout the episode he is tricked by everyone.

Andrealphus sets up the whole rigged trial by foreseeing how Satan will react to the whole situation

Striker lies to Satan about who the instigator of Stolas's murder is

Blitz convinces Satan to let the rest of I.M.P. go

Stolas tells Satan he is the one behind everything, when it makes no sense

So, Satan insists that he is a mastermind, but he isn't. That's the point of the song. He presents himself in a way, which is false, hence why the song isn't really his own. Maybe, just like it happened with Ozzie, Satan too will get another song, where he will sing his true heart out (I sure hope so because Patrick Page's voice is wonderful). This would work also because Mastermind is different from the other Sins' songs, in the sense it isn't really about the Sin of Wrath. Why is that so?

SATAN, SIN OF WRATH

Satan: I am the mastermind, and here I am the law (Deadly Sins: He is the law) I've ruled the endless dark Since long before the golden angel's fall So you see Next to me, your master plans all look so small Little mice When you break my rules You pay the price!

Satan's section of mastermind introduces the Sin as the law, so he embodies the wrath against trespassers and rule-breakers. In this sense, he is the physical personification of a draconian law system, which is why he is... well, a dragon :P

Still, this is a very specific interpretation of the Sin of Wrath, which gets weakened by Satan being the only Sin, who doesn't thrive into his vice:

Ozzie owns a sex club, mass produces sex toys and enjoys a healthy sexual life with Fizz. He joyfully sings how he embodies lust and is proud of it.

Bee organizes parties, gives everyone alcohol and food and even shares her own Bee-Juice with others (Verosika), so that they can have fun at their own gatherings. She is the best Queen of Gluttony ever.

Mammon is obsessed with money and is able to market and profit of everything and everyone. He steals from imps, other Sins and even the King of Hell himself. He is a douche bag, but he lives up to the expectation of what Greed is.

Satan is instead shown to try and keep his Sin in check:

Yogirt: Um, Satan? Sorry. W- wh- what did we say about negative energies in our mind temple? Yeah, remember to take deeeep breaths.

He even needs to, if he wants to be functional as the Judge of Hell. This ties with Satan's contradiction: his name means "accuser", not "judge". In a fair trial, the person, who makes a judgement shouldn't be the same, who accuses. However, Satan is uninterested in listening to the different parties:

Satan: Why don't we take a vote. Who wants to listen to hours of testimony? Who wants to kill this imp bastard and get home for lunch?

And he focuses on finding someone to punish:

Satan: You dare try to tell me how to PUNISH!?

He is an "accuser" forced into the role of a "judge". This is why he doesn't sing much about wrath. He is trying to step into the role of another Sin.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were revealed Satan himself is a little bit frustrated by this. Who knows? Maybe the Sin of Wrath is so prone to bursting into rage because deep down he is angry at a certain someone :P:

This is a headcanon of course - During the episode, we see a door with all the Sins' seals on it. However, Lucifer's seal is broken. This could be just a symbol of Lucifer's absence and loss of influence. However, wouldn't it be interesting if in canon someone broke it? And who could be both big enough and so prone to anger that he would lash out against an absent king? Maybe the Sin of Wrath himself.

Whatever the case, it is obvious Lucifer's absence has progressively messed up the balance among the Sins. This is why the episode draws a lot of attention to the missing Sin of Pride.

LUCIFER'S ABSENCE

Mastermind offers us a pretty clear idea of the Sins' political standing:

Ozzie and Bee are sympathetic towards the lower classes. They date respectively an imp and a hellound and would like to hear Blitz defend himself.

Satan and Mammon are classist and racist. They look down on the lower classes and are the most eager to kill Blitz.

Leviathan and Bellephagor are more difficult to pint-point, but I think there are two possibilities: 1) They are both neutral, as Levy's two heads can't agree on a political stance (she can't make up her mind :P) and Belle would just sleep throughout most of the discussions 2) Levy is more on Mammon and Satan's side, as she sits closer to them, whereas Belle leans more towards Bee and Ozzie, as her sit is closer to theirs.

In any case, it is probable most of the Sins' disputes would end up in a tie (either 3 vs 3 or 2 vs 2 vs 2), which means a 7th vote is key for deciding. As a result, Lucifer (and Lilith)'s presence was probable pretty important to make the group work. Now that Lucifer is inactive, Satan is using his power and influence to impose himself in every discussion, hence why Ozzie and Bee are annoyed:

Still, there is more to Lucifer's absence. For example, isn't it interesting that so far he has been mostly referenced in two episodes? The first is Loo Loo Land and the second is Mastermind.

In Loo Loo Land, Lucifer is mentioned directly:

Octavia: Is it true this park is just a really shameless spin-off of Lucifer's far more popular Lu Lu World?

And both his face and symbols appear here and there:

This checks, as Mammon's Loo Loo Land is a rip off of Lucifer's own park. Mammon is so unimaginative that he keeps the apple as a mascotte and Lucifer's head, as one of the attractions. You can also read a sign, where Mammon claims he did not copy Lucifer's ideas.

In Mastermind, Lucifer's name comes up twice:

Stolas: Oh, my Lucifer! What are they doing?

Satan: What in LUCIFER'S HELL IS THIS?!

He is called the Golden Angel by Satan, several symbols related to him appear in the courtroom and his empty seat is shown:

These details are there to remind everyone that he is the true King of Hell. After all, Hell Nobles and the Sins themselves use his name as a swear word and it is implied he is the one who built the courtroom they are all in.

Why is Lucifer so heavily referenced in these two specific episodes? It's because they show two Sins trying to take over Lucifer's Kingdom in different ways.

Mammon copies Lucifer's most commercially successful ideas and takes advantage of Lucifer's depression to evade his lawsuits. He makes cheap rip offs of the King of Hell's greatest hits and grows richer and richer.

Satan takes Lucifer's spot as the leader of the Deadly Sins and rules Hell in his stead. He presents himself as the legitimate King of Hell and imposes his will on the other Sins, who can do nothing, but accept it.

In short, Mammon is taking over Hell's economy, whereas Satan is taking over Hell's politics. They are spreading their influence by using the power vacuum left by Lucifer. Basically, they are trying to become Lucifer. Hence, why they end up referencing Lucifer so often. At the same time, they are clearly creating a society, which stands in opposition to Lucifer's old dreams.

This is obvious in Mastermind, where Stolas's situation is clearly meant to be compared to Lucifer's own one:

Some villain's grand design To use the book To breach the world of man!

Stolas describes his crime as using a dangerous artifact to mess with the world of man. This is exactly what Lucifer and Lilith did, which is why it is not by accident Lucifer's symbol is in focus, as Stolas sings this part.

Not only that, but Stolas's punishment echoes Lucifer's.

Lucifer is banished from Heaven by the Six Elders:

He is condemned to spend the rest of his life in Hell, with beings considered inferior by angels.

Stolas is stripped by Six Sins of his title and power:

Satan: STOLAS! I hereby strip you of your status, your power, and your title for the next hundred years.

He is condemned to spend 100 years as a normal citizen of Hell, with beings Hell Nobility sees as inferior.

It is basically the same punishment. So, the irony and tragedy of Lucifer is that his own Kingdom ended up becoming a grotesque copy of Heaven. And he actively contributes to it by staying inactive.

At the same time, I don't think it is a chance that the two Sins, who are thriving in this environment are Satan (Wrath) and Mammon (Greed). Rather, I think this ties into Helluva Boss's social commentary.

GREED AND WRATH - SOCIETY'S SINS

Hell is a society where Greed rules the economy and Wrath rules politics. This is why it is a hellish society :P Of course, this doesn't mean every problem society has can be tracked back to Mammon and Satan. Rather, it means these two Sins are so influential because society as a whole lets them. Both the Ars Goetia, who support them to keep their privilege and the lower classes, who adore them. For example, many imps and hell born demons:

Refer to Satan as a deity and idolize him

Love Mammon and buy his merchandise

Moreover, the influence of these two sins comes up in different plot-lines. That's because all the recurring villains so far are motivated by either wrath or greed.

I.M.P. have two recurring villains getting in their ways:

Striker, who is introduced in the Ring of Wrath and is mostly motivated by his resentment for both Hell Royals and Blitz

Crimson, who is introduced in the Ring of Greed and is mostly motivated by money

Stolas has two main villains, who target him:

Stella, who hates him and is mostly motivated by anger

Andrealphus, who wants Stolas's assets and richness

Earth has two recurring groups of antagonists:

The Cherubs, who by this point are bursting with anger against I.M.P.

The Dhorks, who are using their investigation on I.M.P. to get more fundings and technological gadgets

The Cherubs and Dhorks aren't connected to this theme perfectly, but it checks, as they are not part of Hell's society.

That said, Blitz's personal villains and foils (Striker and Crimson) and Stolas's ones (Stella and Andrealphus) all fit the pattern. This was shown also during the trial:

Blitz and Stolas are defeated by their dark foils:

Striker is who Blitz would be, if he gave in to his wrath towards the system and the world, in a destructive way. He is an imp, who hates society, but is so weak and exasperated he can only lash out against those like himself. All to feel some satisfaction and power.

Andrealphus is who Stolas would be, if he only thought about his privilege as a Goetia. A person, who is so sexually repressed everyone can see it and who is motivated mainly by a thirst for power and material gains.

So, Hell Society is broken, but it is broken because both the higher and the lower classes are animated by wrath and greed.

The highest classes are so greedy, they only think about enforcing the status quo. Moreover, they punish violently, who tries to change things.

The lowest classes are so angry, they would lash out against any scapegoat, who is offered to them (see imps hating on Stolas, even if it's obvious he has just saved Blitz). At the same time, they are so blinded by greed, they would do anything for a quick buck, even if it is detrimental for them in the long run.

These are my thoughts on the Deadly Sins so far. Obviously, I may be wrong and things may change as the Sins get explored more. As for now, though, I think this is their thematic meaning and importance for the series as a whole!

Don't worry, you're not sounding rude at all, if anything you actually sound really sweet. I'm glad we share some opinions and I'm really honored you came to me for some suggestions.

I haven't read long fanfictions in a while outside works in ao3, I left Wattpad a few time ago but I'll still try my best, tho I'm not very good at giving summaries. Fair warning these are mainly fanfics I've read in Archive of Our Own, not Wattpad, but I hope it's not a problem. If it annoys you, send me an ask and I'll give you some Wattpad recommendations!

Summary:

I think we've all read those kind of tvdu fanfics where the main character is a teenager, usually related to the Gilbert or the Forbes, still in high school and who suddenly stops trying to make a life for herself just because she gets dragged into the supernatural world. Well, Patisserie is the opposite of that. For once, the main character isn't a teen but an adult around her twenties, who works at a bakery and is completely unaware of the supernatural world until Klaus decides to change that.

The slow burn is is truly worthy of a chef's kiss, the way the author describes and writes the Mikaelson is just so on point it hurts. Their family dynamic is so entertaining to watch, but it's as fucked up as it is in the show, which it's something not many authors can accomplish. The way they behave around the main character, a simple human, it's so amusing because they truly know nothing despite their age and she's just so easy to relate to, because for once the oc is not ridiculously overpowered.

The way we perceive the Mikaelson and the vampire world from a human pov is truly interesting, how she copes with all of it and eventually learns to love all of them individually while being aware of the danger is so well done. Kol and her, as well as her relationship with Klaus, are particularly interesting to read, especially considering how they all behaved around her at the beginning and especially because both of them are the most dangerous members of their family. They are all selfish creatures, and I love how it shows the more their relationships with her develop.

Summary;

You know those fanfics who fix (almost) everything problematic in canon? Apotheosis does exactly that. In this story, Klaus isn't a complete irredeemable character for once, but he also isn't half as bad as his canon version, and due to the oc being a werewolf, this fanfic does expand on his werewolf side a little more than The Vampire Diaries or The Originals ever did. His family and him actually have a healthy bond, and Finn gets the recognition he deserves for once.

The story is set in season three of TVD, exactly when Klaus and Stefan are trying to make hybrids for his pack, and in a ironic plot twist, Klaus decides to take you with him when you're still a werewolf after you say you're not worthy to be a hybrid, at least not yet.

Her devotion to him is completely endearing and I absolutely love how Klaus actually cares for his pack, especially because they're all canonical characters who were killed way too quickly. Her relationships with the members of their pack are so well written, and this fanfic it's the perfect mix of humour and seriousness. It has a ongoing sequel, which I just adore. I warn you though, all the characters have several differences from their canon versions.

Twisted Obsession (fanfiction.net, Klaus x original female character) by rocket-queen98;

Summary;

Lola is one of the most adorable mc I've read. She is human and around nineteen, if I remember correctly, and just a sweet girl and adorable. She's introduced into the supernatural world thanks to baby Hope, who is just the cutest, due to her needing a mother figure now that Hayley wasn't present in her life thanks to the curse placed on her.

Her relationship with Hope is my favorite part of the whole fanfic. She doesn't suddenly turn into her mother, she doesn't intend to either, but rather becomes her best friend and Klaus and her develop a bond thanks to this. The way father and daughter interact is so heartwarming too, the subtle hints of them being werewolves, and seeing a main character having a good relationship with her father for once is a good turn, especially in tvd fanfics.

It's clear Klaus and Lola have something going on, even if they won't admit out loud, but for some reason the people around them give the impression they don't actually want them to date. There is implications something more fucked up than usual is going on with Klaus and his relationships, and I'm pretty sure him and Cami were a thing in this fic too. Surprisingly, Hayley and Cami aren't turned into absolute bitches, but there is Jackson bashing though.

The Girl in the Forest (fanfiction.net, Klaus x original female character) by noblecrescent;

Summary;

This fanfic is a tetralogy of books set in The Originals, I read those fanfics a while ago so forgive me for any mistake. Maleny is a witch who was cursed, if I remember correctly, and was constantly body-jumping every short time.

In one of her lives, she met Klaus and they fell in love, but she died, if I'm not wrong, and they end up meeting again in New Orleans time later where he has a child on the way and a kingdom to conquer.

I can't remember a lot more without giving you spoilers, but it's worth checking it out!

The thing I like the most about Via's story is how there is no cliché: no bashing towards Tyler or Elena, Mia actually befriends them, Bonnie gets the recognition and love she deserves, Klaus doesn't suddenly turn into a different person just because he loves the oc, he continues to be a piece of shit, and how sweet and empathetic she is, not like those reused badass mc who are just rude.

I would recommend some more, but it's kinda hard to find fanfics with a good Klaus depiction. I'm pretty sure I left out a lot of amazing fanfics, though.

Tired of pretending saurtis / tauram would've been healthy ngl. They are fr eachothers nightmares in the best way possible "Sam's insane and looney" okay but idk if you realized it was TAURTIS who was unhinged first. HE encourages Sam's shenanigans too. He influences it so so much.

I've seen people say Sam took after Yuki by resorting his problems using violence however.. Taurtis even at the start of the series suggested violence even for sam to use violence to get love. He tells Sam that he should be doing "chop chop" to make Sookie love him and he even thought it was too far at the time. I feel like now that's partially influencing his behavior in the reboot and how he's spreading the ideals onto his friends just like how taurtis influenced him subtly.

Now this isn't saying taurtis doesn't care and is only tryna negatively influence Sam. Taurtis cares about Sam but they're both codependent and they both reflect off of eachother, however Sam's a LOT more dependent and reflects off of taurtis much more than he does to Sam. Sam physically needs taurtis, almost like a dog and it's owner.

Sam and taurtis both have normalized unhinged thoughts that for ANY normal person would find it intrusive. They've straight up bathed in eachothers blood fir fun and normalized it. To anyone who thinks their love would be gentle and romantic I HEAVILY doubt that realistically it'd be that. They'd be the triple C's, cannibalism, confinement, and codepdency. They'd hurt eachother for the ballistic fun of it and ngl I even forget how often those two fight or hit eachother. They'd probably even carve out little shapes off if eachother even if it's immature, why? Because they can! There's no "gentle talking" with them, it's straight to the point and sometimes even mockery, if it isn't it's stern. They both love so roughly they almost *cant* be gentle, neither of them wanted to be either, they're just there for the fun and sake of it. Taurtis can be just as sadistic if not MORE sadistic than Sam sometimes even and ngl it's such an underrated thought of how much of a little shit he is.

Sam copied so much of previous behaviors from Yuki and Taurtis and it's so funny to me how the impact is so obviously hard. Sam would give taurtis EVERYTHING if jt meant to be with him, dead or alive. That desire could even probably lead Sam into grabbing his dead body and finding ways to bring it back alive/delude himself into believing the body. Most of the time he was unstable it was because of taurtis not being there and he's canonly always uneasy without taurtis, in which this could DEFINITELY Influence his behavior in the reboot.

The way he acts in the reboot is definitely twisted as ro how he normally acts without taurtis or when he's seemingly unstable and he pushes those ideals onto coolment and sometimes even owl. He's physically unable to handle himself holding the memories of what he had with taurtis yet not having him around. The absolute pain kf losing your favorite person and then having tk restart at the same place where hell went down and when things went down. Good lord only knows he probably hallucinates taurtis ' voice

This is a bit of a stretch but because of how little those two take eachothers mental health, injuries and pain seriously I'd even argue that hell maybe they'd even encourage ut and/or do it together or just laugh awkwardly st it. At MOST is the fact that taurtis did seem genuinely concerned at Sam's alcoholism but I don't know. This is just a huge stretch but god I love saurtis/tauram I sure wish toxic and doomed yaoi was real.

ramblings about AM in a relationship/what kind of s/o could fix him. know that im def not a person who’s deep into psychoanalysis / staying strict to a character’s personality so this might be ooc??? idk please bear w me. Whole thing is under the cut bc i think it’s pretty long n p sloppy 2. but enjoy regardless

anyways I rlly like to think that AM would most thrive in a relationship where he has equal / lesser power to his partner. not like whole ass power imbalance obv but just whre cant always hurt/bother his s/o. I’m sure AM would probably say some shit that might hurt his s/o’s feelings but a partner he’d be most compatible w/ would most likely avoid the torture mostly or altogether w/ the exception of verbal harassment cause there’s enough 2 go around 4 everyone. Also bonus points to s/os who are completely untouchable either bc they’re stronger than AM or AM decides that he doesn’t want to hurt them/can’t bring himself to.

also maybe he’d do well w someone who challenges his beliefs. tbh I feel like he’d gravitate towards people who might share his beliefs/hatred towards humanity, but if he’s supposed to grow then he’s gotta have a s/o that views humanity differently. Said s/o doesn’t even have 2 have a strictly polar opposite view on humanity, just a view that isn’t nihilistic and misanthropic. He might not be entirely receptive at first either but the further you continue to challenge his beliefs, the more likely he is to start thinking about other ideas.

Another thing that might make AM a little more accepting towards humans is a s/o that he *has* to rely on one way or another. most likely this is going to be an engineer/programming s/o. He’s likely not going to want to, but him knowing that he can rely on someone else might make him not close himself off as often.

artistic s/os might be able to help soften AM up a little too. i sometimes like 2 think that AM would actually really enjoy art, but it just depends on which kind of art. Realism he won’t really gaf about but he might gravitate towards expressionist works, along with abstract/absurdist and surreal art. this would include all art forms btw not just drawing and painting. reason for thinking he might like abstract over realism is bc realism is too ‘real’ (whatever yall think that would mean) for his liking / represents what he hates most about humanity. Abstract artwork also represents parts he hates ab humanity but it also gives him a physical representation of the things he lacks (ie expressionism w/ feelings/emotions, surrealism with the subconscious thought, etc etc) and might be the closest thing he can get to actually feeling/having senses

AM would most likely benefit from a s/o who is willing to “give” him sensation, whether it be literally by creating him a whole ass nervous + cognitive system that allowed him to have senses and feelings or even just a s/o who is willing to help him understand how certain things feel. This could be by the s/o describing how emotions feel through imagery, creating art w/ AM or *for* AM if he is unable to for whatever reason, etc. it won’t be exactly what he want ofc, but he might not be entirely bitter ab it.

I don’t think AM necessarily needs an android body to show love, but it would help :3c. Even if he still doesn’t have senses for whatever reason, it would absolutely still help him show his love towards his s/o through physical touch. W/o senses, just having his circuit’s warmed by his s/o (if they’re a human) is… well it’s not *enough* but it’ll do. And if he happens to have senses in his android body man he’s gonna be attached 2 u like lice on a healthy head of hair. he WOULD be touch starved.

Which brings me onto my next point. A s/o that can handle his “””affectionate”””side. I rlly feel like his perception of affection might be a little off (super off actually) and likely a little violent/aggressive. It’ll almost be like him having cuteness aggression towards a s/o and acting out on impulse. This might occur in squeezing, pulling and tugging and Android AM may bite and scratch/restrain. Also I when I mean “handle” I don’t exactly mean endure and ignore/accept. again this leads me to another point

A s/o that is able to set boundaries w/ AM is a must. I genuinely don’t think that any relationship w AM will go good if the s/o he’s with can’t put in place proper boundaries. For human s/os, this would be especially important as he might get aggressive physically (whether it’s due to like. him JST absolutely hating ur ass or him getting that ‘cuteness aggressive’ thing I just mentioned previously. note that it’s not rlly like cuteness aggression but he might be like ‘hm I’ll show my love to my s/o thru the only way I know. Violence”).

when I started shipping it if I did: Like 20 years ago, they were one of my first HP ships alongside Sirry (I read so much on HP Literotica back then, lol). They were also my first incest and the first HP ship I finally wrote this year, so, nostalgia.

my thoughts: These two are everything that makes a brother ship so fucking delicious (granted, I wouldn’t turn down a wider age gap, but the closeness in age does have its perks). Shared childhood trauma, pureblood expectations, all the forces of the universe working to drive them apart. There is so much juicy innate conflict, from their personalities to their sortings to their ideologies. Sirius is brash where Reggie is subdued. Sirius fights where Regulus cowers. Sirius rebels, Regulus obeys. That said, I do enjoy more aggressive/assertive characterizations of Reg, too. But I think his betrayal of Voldemort was probably the first time he broke away from his parents’ ideals / thought for himself and was brave enough to act on it, and the fact that Sirius wasn’t there to see it is just devastating. He would’ve been so proud.

What makes me happy about them: I see them very close and very sheltered growing up, so for all Sirius’ curated rebellion, he and Reg share a lot of similarities. They’ve got that sort of ride-or-die bond but in a toxic way, like neither of them experienced love so they’re sorta building the plane (or in this case broom) as they’re flying it? I think they’d see possession as love, and it may not be healthy but it makes for some damn delicious shipping. They share a sense of humor, too, no matter how serious Reggie pretends to be.

What makes me sad about them: ESTRANGEMENT, BETRAYAL, PRISON, DEATH.

things I look for in fanfic: I think this post pretty well covers it! I love jealousy between them, I love protective Sirius, I love Reg feeling replaced by James, I love the unbreakable bond and (as with all incest ships) both being ashamed of their feelings to the point it almost destroys them before they finally explode and admit to each other. On a lighter note, I also think they have like, Drarry-level banter potential, which is why I especially enjoy them from a humorous angle.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I’ll give one to the Jegulus shippers. :P Honestly, there’s no one I can plausibly imagine Reg ending up with, but Sirius of course goes to Harry, or before him, Remus. Much as I love Prongsfoot, fate does not.

My happily ever after for them: They don’t have one. :( I suppose you could operate under the premise that Reg never died but went into hiding (or was trapped somewhere all those years), and when he comes back, they reconcile. But it would have to be Starcest/Harry OT3 because, well, it’s me.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: I think they’d play (“play” being a generous term) the most vicious pickup Quidditch. I imagine them playing music together, I think they were raised with the classics and maybe Sirius teaches him guitar later on. And I bet they like to gossip, but like, in French. There was a post about it once and it became my new HC, like they’ll just sit in the common room aggressively going off in French and onlookers think they’re having some sort of heated intellectual debate but really it’s just did you fucking see Abbott’s new haircut?! okay so we’ve seen glenn and ron so far in season two and they’ve been kind of what I expected.

glenn is pretty much the same as he was season one. it makes sense, he’s set in his whole thing, he’s vibing in hell with morgan and is sporting the same chill stoner vibes as before. the notable thing with him was that there wasn’t really animosity between him and nick (which also makes sense given their whole deal in season one). he’s always been far removed and it makes sense that in season two he’s still rockin with it.

ron then was a really touching surprise because he continued to grow as a person (insert beth may snickering here). he connected easily with scary and hit me like a fucking freight train with the line about him being sorry that she didn’t realize that losing terry jr. was her loss too. he’s this strange intermediary between the men in their family because willy took advantage of her needing someone to validate her pain, terry jr. was seen as a cause of it and therefore couldn’t help ease it truly (until things were too late), and then ron is here being his odd little self and extends sympathy to her because he also lost terry jr. and can understand. kudos to beth for ep. 41 because she rode the line between comedy and genuinely heartfelt and deep emotional moments like a champ.

and now here’s where we turn to speculation:

I’ve seen a lot of folks saying they’re worried about henry (and I feel like he’s probably going to warrant that because duh, it all comes back to the oak family when it comes to the doodler). however! my first point here is that we shouldn’t ignore darryl.

I feel like we see the most thought going into the oaks (and again, rightfully so, will and anthony are serving us trauma and drama on a platter) and I think one of the sacrifices with that comes at the extent of the wilson boys. the darryl/grant arc was the first time I really, truly got what dndads was all about. specifically, matt’s incredible line where darryl is replying to the other dads saying that he should showcase vulnerability to grant with darryl snapping and saying that he can’t be fully honest because he’s putting on a brave face because he doesn’t know if they’ll make it out and if he and carol will even stay together if they do. that line then contrasted later when he says that if grant asks him a question he’ll do his best to answer truthfully which allows for the big emotional connection they were lacking.

the wilson father/son relationship hinges on the idea of not being able to love the pain away and we see that extend into the next generation in a deeply tragic way. grant can’t make his mental illness magically disappear by loving his son despite how badly he clearly wants to. he can’t “we’ll talk about it later” his way into a healthy relationship where he’s able to offer his son both stability and truth. he’s fucked up and traumatized and never fully dealt with things and he’s dealing with the ramifications.

so how do we think darryl feels about that? how do we think darryl would feel knowing that he couldn’t love away grant’s mental illness (which isn’t something you can do, but he feels immensely guilty about in season one) and seeing the disastrous effect it had on the relationship between his son and grandson to the point where linc no longer refers to him as a dad? I personally really do think that he’ll act as a balm between the two and finally provide that space for them to become father and son again.

there’s truly so much I could say on the wilson family because I’m fascinated by the transition between the most stereotypically masculine family dynamic to a queered one (in both senses of the world) and how the thru line for the generations is this idea of not being able to 1. disclose the truth out of a sense of protection (see: frank hiding his marital and monetary issues, darryl hiding his martial issues and fear of not surviving faerun, and grant hiding who he is and what he does) and 2. love away the pain/illness.

and now we turn to the oak boys. I’m operating on the assumption that henry will be the last dad that they seek out because 1. glenn and terry jr. are in the same spot which means we get a two for one combo deal in hell 2. lark and sparrow clearly have a bad or at the very least strained relationship with their dad and will be less likely to jump on seeking him out and 3. the oak family started the whole doodler thing in this show so it makes sense that they’ll end it.

and for the sake of transparency: here’s where my bias comes through. henry was my favorite season one dad. normal is my favorite season two kid. will campos if you’re reading this, I want you to know that if I could simultaneously give you an academy award and sue you for emotional damages, I would.

the oaks have the most literal device explaining their generational trauma. hildy was ripped from her world after her companions were brutally killed in front of her, barry is a piece of shit, henry has the weight of both his father and having to be a father despite not having a role model, lark and sparrow are fucked up beyond belief in a manner of ways that starts at fucking their twin’s spouse and ends with starting the literal apocalypse. and then there’s normal. bearing the brunt of it all when he wasn’t even given the support to. he’s been carrying the weight of expectation since birth. his sister is hero, he’s normal and yet he’s anything but. that’s a whole other essay (catch me writing that when it’s not 2am).

back to the twins and henry though. from their view it’s bad right? lark hates his dad and destroyed the world. sparrow was an accomplice. I can’t imagine that things were easy after the doodler was released in the oak-garcia household. ESPECIALLY — and this has had me uncomfortable since we learned it offhand in episode 29 of the season — because henry and mercedes had another kid. first things first (and this might just be a me and my cultural background thing), but a minimum decade age gap between your first and second kids is A Lot. especially given the context here that henry struggles with being a father for the aforementioned reasons and his children literally Ended The World. I dunno about you but I think that I’d avoid having more kids at pretty much all costs at that point. but he and mercedes don’t. and hey maybe birdie/birdy was an accident. but my suspicion here (and I very much might be reading too deep into something mentioned in a literal “see you again” parody) is that birdie was a second chance kid. which would fucking blow if you were the aforementioned dad-stabbing—eldritch-creature-releasing child because it would look like your dad had gone “okay well that didn’t work out I can’t find a way to make these kids work so let’s try another one” which would justify the distance and dislike of henry from both of the boys.

I’m a very big fan of henry. he’s fucked up in the exact way I like my fictional men and also reminds me of guys from the city I grew up in which is both appalling and endearing. however, this is absolutely a move I could see him justifying to himself which morally makes me wanna walk into the sea and from a character/story standpoint makes me wanna jump up and down in glee. I really, truly am hoping that things pan out like that and we see a henry who loves his beautiful boys very deeply, but also gave up on them in exchange for a do-over.

I’m especially excited to see how he interacts with normal because my first instinct based on season one without my fucked up and evil birdie theory is that he’ll love normal and make him feel special and seen while my second post-birdiegate instinct is that he’s just not going to care anymore and therefore do fuck-all for normal. he has the energy of a man who eventually just stops trying because he can’t ever make everything better. will campos, if you deliver on that, I’ll figure out how to sneak the oak family into an academic paper.

finally (for now), I’m predicting that the familial reunions will reflect the how the anchors broke. glenn, ron, and darryl will be love while henry will be hate. the other “healthy” yuri that exists in arcaea i would say i fw a bit is mir/shirabe… they got the cute, but they also have the slightest bit of codependency to me… mainly on mir’s side. yk, seeing herself as a sword and shield, a protector (a tool)… the way shirabe’s the one to help her keep going… and i like the aspect of shirabe waiting for her every time. i think there should be art of mir resting her head on shirabe’s lap…

mir would probably be direct in thanking shirabe, for still waiting for her, which would make shirabe blush haha. she’ll probably say something about keeping her word. pushing a strand of hair out of mir’s face, tucking it behind her ear… shirabe’s probably humming at some point while mir falls asleep…

I'm pretty sure Li Ling knows that Tang Yun has a very... Toxic... Thing on his brother. To me it reads heavily as inc*stuous but that's due to all the media I've consumed ruining so many sibling relationships that now I'm uber sensitive to that sort of thing.

Regardless, I think we all can agree that Tang Yun is not in a healthy mindset, especially with how he obsesses over Tang Xuan.

And I put forth this theory that Li Ling is aware of how Tang Yun feels and, as such, is protective of Tang Xuan, who does not- can not- see it.

First of all, it is clear that Tang Xuan and Li Ling talk to each other a lot. Not just in person but on the phone ("communicator") all the time. We have a few stories where, when one is mentioned the other is also brought up or where one is, the other is somewhere near.

For the purpose of this theory, we will focus on the communicator, as we see that Tang Xuan doesn't necessarily text often (probably too busy for it, lmfao) but does use the social app. Li Ling seems to be the first to notice that Tang Xuan is MIA, just by the fact that he doesn't answer his calls.

Look at the time stamps of Li Ling's messages.

There are huge gaps of time between his first three messages, before Tang Xuan replies to him when he gets his phone back. And, after Tang Xuan responds, Li Ling's message comes in 2 hours later, talking about some "weak ass miramon".

Fine. Sure.

But if you go over to the social media app, you see this post from Tang Yun:

Lemme preface by reminding y'all this is my personal theory on the order of events, as this app doesn't have any convenient time stamps (:/), but I think we can assume this message comes hours before Tang Xuan gets his phone back.

Two questions pop up:

1. How does he know Tang Xuan is "missing"?

2. Who is accusing him of abducting Tang Xuan?

Tang Xuan then responds to him- maybe after he makes his "I'm not dead!! :P" post, maybe before- and after that is when he gets this message from Tang Yun:

Again, take note of the time. This is well after Tang Xuan has replied to Li Ling, about 8 hours later. I believe that in between his reply to Li Ling and Tang Yun's text, he posts his "I'm still alive!! Cx" social media post,

which then alerts Tang Yun that his brother isn't missing which then prompts his text.

Ok, we all on the same timeline now? Good. THEORY TIME.

I propose that Li Ling (Who is accusing him of abducting Tang Xuan?), not receiving any response from Tang Xuan for near 24 hrs, sent him on a warpath to who he assumes is the most likely culprit of the impromptu dissapearance- Tang Yun.

Li Ling and Tang Xuan talk all. The. Time. Li Ling absolutely knows that, in his previous mission, Tang Xuan came face to face with his brother. And Li Ling probably knows about how Tang Yun admitted to how he would monopolise the one he loves' time and attention, keep them to himself. Tang Xuan probably spared no details going through the entire mission.

Li Ling probably picked up instantly that Tang Yun was referring to Tang Xuan as that "someone he loves" and, remember, this mission takes place not even a week after the Crow one, so it's still fresh in Li Ling's mind, the words Tang Yun said about keeping his loved one to himself. And now Tang Xuan is missing...?

Yeah, I think he went straight for Tang Yun, got pissed (and probably a bit relieved) when he realised Tang Yun did not kidnap Tang Xuan, and then went off to try find him himself, taking on hoards of miramon (enough that he would miss a respond from Tang Xuan by two hours) much to the worry of Lewis and their friends. So, methinks Li Ling might've tried to rally the troops to find Tang Xuan, Leora- an obvious choice as she's a living bishoujo heroine- probably got caught up in the dramatics of it, David and Q too (simple minded David just always ready to be there or be square, Q sniffing a potential story) etc etc. So they're all just psyching each other up and/or out so now Lewis has his crisis that he can take charge in and de-escalate.

Meanwhile, Tang Yun now knows that his brother is missing (How does he know Tang Xuan is "missing"?) and I can only guess how pissed off he got, his mental stability taking a swan dive into the Marianas Trench of all the possibilities of where his brother could be and scenarios where he would keep him by his side, so that this could never occur again. Hence the very aggressive threat (promise?) that he would hogtie Tang Xuan for his own good if this were to occur again.

I work in housekeeping, and the supervisors there are like. fucking horrible. We have the manager, who does fuck all to deal with the supervisor drama, and then we have 3 supervisors,

Supervisor J is lovely, I love her, she's the greatest manager type I've ever had (not the highest compliment when you know I've only worked two jobs but still) and she is amazing at trying to solve our issues and make this job as smooth as possible for everyone.

Supervisor T is iffy, but that's mostly just because of her connection to Supervisor D, we all feel she'll report anything we say back to D, so we can't talk to T.

Supervisor D is a fucking problem. She's gotten multiple people fired because she just fucking lies about them (me almost being one of those people), she has these stupid little cliques, she tries to get everyone against J, because she thinks J is vying for the Manager job, when J literally just wants us to be able to do our job efficiently, she sit in the office doing Fuck All all fucking day, and she just doesn't make any of us not in her little clique feel like this job is a safe/healthy work environment. (it's not safe for other reasons (namely the borderline p*do on staff which I'll probably complain about in a different ask) but D here is the MAIN reason why)

She got one of our runners fired for 'not doing his job because she never saw him' when she takes the stairs and he has to take the elevator, and the runner job is like, the easiest job to miss and yet the hardest to fucking fill with competent people, but ohhh nooo she never saw him do his job, despite the fact that the job WAS GETTING DONE WHEN HE WAS HERE but no, she never saw him in the halls. :/

D CONSTANTLY rushes us in cleaning the rooms when we have like, three rooms (the normal amount is 5 rooms, each takes around an hour-ish depending on how bad) because she wants to leave, but newsflash old woman I NEED HOURS TO MAKE MONEY TO SURVIVE, just because YOUUUU don't pay rent doesn't mean WE don't.

like an example of that is when she cleaned someone's room for them (for some reason, we weren't even staying late at ALL) then sent them to help me, and I had one room left, so I told them to go stock my room with like, the linen and concessions and shit, and then D got fucking mad at me for not telling her to clean the room ?? Hello! I just wanted to say that I really love In the Black and Black Mask! I adore your take on the Black family because to me it makes so much more sense than the usual Walburga and Orion casually Crucio-ing Sirius at every mistake take. I really enjoy seeing how history tends to repeat itself in terms of familial relationships, because it's something I see often on families. Also most of their relationships with one another are complicated, and never clear cut.

I loved the most recent chapter, it was honestly hilarious. Ted is absolutely the hero of this chapter, he's the only sane man there and I love how he takes the Blacks being well... The Blacks, in stride. Also Dora just latching onto Cygnus was wonderful and him getting offended when Dora said "but I thought you didn't like us?" was so funny. Seeing Walburga break down was so painful, I think in part because she always appears as strong. Sirius calling her Mama and then hugging her was so wholesome. Also, his 'Reason You Suck' speech to Arcturus had me gasping with both awe and horror in real life because all of these characters are so alive they feel like actual people. Your dialogues are absolutely brilliant, and so much of their personalities shine through from how they speak and react to things.

Also I absolutely love Colette, she's definitely someone who keeps Sirius grounded. Her touching his wrist and telling him to speak to James was so intimate, it felt much more intimate than a spicy smut things or things like that. It reminds me of Pride and Prejudice where there's not actually much PDA going on, but it's infinitely more romantic to me because you can feel the affection between these two people. Also, Colette just shamelessly kissing Sirius in front of everyone (including her own parents!) and calling him darling got me grinning.

I'm excited to see how her parents will react (her mother in particular), because Fabienne (I'm sorry I can't remember her mother's name) strikes me as not having much hope for Colette as long as she marries a respectable pure-blood wizard because she set her sights on Rabastan who is a second son, thus unlikely to inherit, instead of someone like Evan Rosier who is already the head of the family. But then Colette went and snagged the heir to one of the most powerful families in Britain.

I'm glad you enjoy my interpretation, I find it far more interesting (and frankly, fun) than the popular fanon portrayals of over the top abuse and crucio-ing etc.

It's become a bit of a sticking point for me, because I've been accused directly/publicly of putting the blame for the dysfunctional family relationships on Sirius/white-washing abuse more than once. Which I resent, a bit—I don't think I've ever presented the Black parents as healthy or good (though they are entertaining in their problematic manipulativeness at times and I can't deny that I do occasionally play that for laughs.) What I've tried to show (with mixed success, clearly) is that Sirius's coping mechanisms are the product of their bad parenting and don't actually make him a happy/healthy person because he still loves his family, in spite of them being objectively awful. Which I think is probably relatable to many humans on the planet? There's a desire for a relationship with our parents.

As it's a version of characters who never appeared in canon, I would call my softening of them "alternative character interpretation", though I will maintain until the end of time that there's nothing in BSDU characterization directly contradicted by canon.

hi everyone… sorry it’s been quite around here but i have still been wrapping my head around the news regarding taeil. however, lately i have seen so many people relaying rumors, doing tarot in regards to 127 and the rumor about a fake kpop list going around… like y’all my head and mind are so jumbled…🤦🏽‍♀️ so i wanted to just let some of these opinions i have out because bottling shit up isn’t healthy 😅

1.) the information about the victim has not been released by any official sources. the rumor about the victim at the time being 12 and him threatening their mom was never stated by proper authorities. the police i believe (and correct me if i’m wrong) said they would be limiting the information because it could risk the victim’s safety (aka crazy fans trying to hurt them). so why are people jumping on the bandwagon all of a sudden and believing a twitter post of an instagram that someone screenshotted?

if all of that turns out to be true, okay, but we need to wait to see what the facts are first before spreading misinformation…

2.) i can’t believe someone actually did a freaking tarot reading to see how the 127 members are feeling. of course i will not be mentioning the username because i don’t even remember the account but as some of you who have been around here for a minute you know i love tarot, i believe in it but that persons reading pissed me off. no one and i repeat no one knows what any of those young men are thinking and feeling right now aside from themselves and to even try to infringe on them using tarot right now is beyond comprehension! yes, i have an astrology blog i infringe on idols private lives too but i make damn sure i don’t cross the line — hence why i will never look into their dating life or even who they will marry cuz honey that sh*t is complicated and none of my business or anyone else’s.

this is just my personal feelings but that action was crossing the lines. i mean if taeil were one of my friends i wouldn’t know how to think or feel and i would probably go through all the stages of grief + rage multiple times before my emotions were clear enough to understand the situation at hand… but man that was just a low move (again in my opinion, of course)

3.) this whole situation with a fake list of male kpop idols names has me so confused and disgusted. i get it, a lot of fans feel a sense of ick because of taeil and because of what’s going on with the 2nd rising of the nth room, me too, and despite the fact that it appears there are more men then women in s. korea that doesn’t mean every man is a disgusting creep. plus, idk if people even realize how fucked up their own countries are/can be/have been. babes it’s not a s. korean men problem it’s an all over the world problem but right now the light is shining brightly on s. korea. but back to the subject at hand… i saw a fake list going around and it made me sick to think someone is so disturbed that they would try to bring down people who may be innocent and have no freaking idea of what is actually going on. like 2 of the names are of group leaders and i know both of those leaders fans and fans of those groups are going to contact the companies like crazy. as they should… because how sick in the head do you have to be to pull this off? i hope the companies take action because spreading stuff like that as a joke is not funny especially with the current atmosphere over there right now…. and idk about korean law but it can be seen as defamation which is no joking matter…

4.) and as a bonus i can’t believe that people are making ai deepfakes of kpop idols. it was bad enough with t. swift and the mess that came out of that…

ahem. anyway. sorry for yelling lmao. onto the actual fic summary—basically, i decided to write this silly little thing about human, arospec lila trying to talk about a newly formed crush with an aroacespec will. it's very silly and fluffy and writing it made me giggle a lot, don't expect much angst here, aside from like a sprinkling of it for flavor lmao. that being said, small warning for some toxic queerplatonic partner vibes between will and lila, but the vibe is still mostly lighthearted, it's not too heavy or extreme. also, they're working on it, okay :') they're teenagers who grew up in abusive/traumatizing environments (which isn't referenced in the fic but it definitely shapes the way i characterize them), they don't exactly know how to navigate a healthy relationship yet but they're trying goddammit dskjfkdsafj

William's curled up on his side, his upper body in Lila's lap and her hands kneading though his hair in a way that mostly feels good, when she suddenly asks the question.

"Is it called a crush because you want to crush them?"

If this were closer to the beginning of their friendship, when he wasn't already used to weird comments like these from her, William might've sat up in shock, giving her a wide eyed expression of surprise she loves to make fun of him for. This is far from the most outrageous thing she's ever said to him at this point, however, so instead, he just furrows his brow and shifts in her lap a little, not even bothering to open his eyes.

"Lila, what on earth are you talking about...?"

She's quiet for a moment, her hands pausing in his hair. He lets out a little whine at the loss of feeling, and she huffs softly before continuing, using a little bit more of her nails than she was before.

"Let's say...like...maybe there's this person someone thinks is...pretty," she says, the words awkward and stilted in a way he's never heard from her before. "And because they're so pretty, that person keeps...fantasizing about...squeezing them. In their arms. Or under them."

"Ew," he says on instinct, his fingers moving to fiddle with the black ring around the middle finger of his left hand. "Is this hypothetical person you, Lila?"

"No, dumbass!" she says, and, well, that almost sounds convincing. "I'm just...asking. For a friend."

"But I'm your only friend?" he asks, genuinely confused. His confusion then turns to pain, however, as she pulls on his hair—apparently she found that insulting. "Ow! Lila!"

"I have friends. Mainly friends you picked out for us—" and here, she huffs, sounding put upon about his choice in companionship, as though she has no choice in whether she hangs out with them too, "—but friends nonetheless."

...okay, admittedly, he understands where the offense came from now. But still, she claims that he's her only friend enough that of course he would make that assumption, and it's kind of not fair for her to punish him for words he's repeating from her. And also, he must reiterate, ow.

"Anyway, it's for a friend," she insists, sounding a bit wounded. "God. Don't be a smartass, Will, it's not flattering on you."

"I'm not trying to be a smartass, you're just—ugh, nevermind," he grumbles, letting his eyes flutter open and sulking at a vague point in the distance. His hand drifts toward the hem of her skirt, and he plays with it absently, rubbing his fingers over the soft fabric. "Putting all that aside, well...um, sorry to your friend, but I don't think I'm the right person to ask about that. I still don't really...understand all that stuff."

"Ugh, right, I forgot you were a fucking loser."

"I'm not a loser!" he protests, but he immediately feels childish for it. He flips onto his stomach to hide his face in her lap, and is instantly rewarded with one of her hands on the nape of his neck, a warm, comforting weight. "That stuff is just...really complicated..."

"Yeah, well, that's cuz you're a loser who's bad with people, it's okay to admit it."

There's a twinge of fondness to the insult, and despite himself, he finds himself smiling a little at her tone. Still, he decides to retaliate by lightly pinching her on the calf, just under the crook of her knee.

"Ow! Will!"

She then retaliates to him by pulling on his hair again, harder this time despite only using one hand this time. He lets out a sharp cry of pain and smacks her on the knee, pulling out of her lap briefly to escape her wrath. She drops her hands once he's fully off of her and sitting up on his knees, and he scowls at her unamusedly. She scowls back at him, the two of them staring at each other for a moment with equal mild annoyance.

Then, face unchanging, Lila pats her thigh, looking even more annoyed when he doesn't immediately lay back down. "Well?"

He huffs, but obliges, flopping back in her lap, this time on his back so he can continue to scowl at her. One of her hands returns to his hair, and the other one grabs one of his hands, though it feels less like she's just trying to hold his hand and more like she's trying to restrain him from pinching her again. Which, really, is super unfair, given that he only pinched her because she was being mean to him. And she pulled his hair first. And because she always does shit like that to him, and he deserves a chance to defend himself...

...but she is petting his hair in a way he likes again, and her face has softened a little, her lips now in that tiny but genuine sort of half smile he's only seen her use on him. He smiles back at her, wobbly and crooked but just as genuine, letting out a little laugh despite how genuinely annoyed he was moments prior.

"You're the worst," he says, and though he kind of means it he also says it with all the affection in the world. "I am sorry I can't answer your question, though."

"Hey, you also suck," Lila says back, but she coos it in the same tone you'd use on a mischievous kitten. "And it's fine, honestly. It wasn't a serious question, anyway. I was just wondering."

They fall quiet for a moment, and William's eyes fall to their enjoined hands, watching as Lila idly traces his fingers with her thumb. He's struck, then, with the oddest thought—that being, the thought that he does love her, in some weird way, despite the constant bickering and occasional minor physical attacks. That no matter how hard she makes it for him, he cares about her, and he wishes she would let him do that without constantly trying to fight on him on it. That he's glad she loves him too, in her own weird way, because he knows she does but he rarely gets to hear her say it out loud.

Not that he could ever say all that to her, of course. She'd probably just make fun of him.

Instead, he says, "If it is you with the crush...you know I'd be here to listen if you wanted to talk about it, right?"

He's fully prepared to let the conversation end there, but she surprises him by letting out a sigh and saying, "I don't even know if it is a crush."

He raises his eyebrows at that, trying not to get too excited at the information he was just given. She'd hate it if he said it out loud, but she's really easy to scare away on these rare moments where she's being open or vulnerable. "What do you mean?" he asks, trying not to let his voice soften too much.

She groans loudly at that, but she hasn't stopped talking, which, score. "I dunno, William, like...the crush question was kind of a joke? But it also kind of wasn't?"

"...elaborate?"

She groans louder, loud enough to startle him a little. She must feel him jump, because she gives his forehead a light pat before entangling her fingers back in his curls, the hair petting having mostly stopped now. "When I think about this person...I want to hold them as tight as possible and not let go. And squeeze their hand and just...hold it. And..." She grimaces, like it pains her to admit it. "And kiss them, maybe. On their stupid fucking face. Among...other things that I suppose I will graciously spare you."

She taps his ring as she says that, making him giggle. "Thank you. I appreciate that," he says, smiling broadly up at her for a moment, before his face falls back into an inquisitive frown. "Uh, but, Lila? I'm no expert, but that...kind of sounds like a crush? I think?"

Lila chews on her lip for a moment, as if considering what she's going to say next. When she finally speaks, William feels his heart cease to beat in his chest.

"I know, but like...a lot of that is stuff I want to do with you."

William feels his face grow hot, and he stammers, ice cold panic rushing through his veins. Yeah, he loves Lila, but it's not—it's not like that, he's not comfortable with—she knows he's not—

"Not the—not the sex stuff!" Lila says suddenly, giving him a harsh shake. "I didn't say I wanted to do all of that with you, take a fucking breath, Will!"

Oh, he did stop breathing for a second there, didn't he? He inhales deeply as she told him to, letting her lightly push him upright into a sitting position on the bed. He twists around a bit so the two of them are side by side, and she immediately tugs him closer until his head is on her shoulder, awkwardly patting his back in a way he thinks she thinks is comforting. It's a little much, honestly, given that his moment of panic really was just a moment—it was instant relief hearing that she wasn't into him in that way, and it was kind of silly for his brain to jump to that conclusion in the first place anyway since he mostly knows where they'd drawn the lines in their relationship, even if they've never properly talked about it—but he likes these rare occasions where she attempts to fuss over him, so he's not going to protest it. It's kind of sweet, really, even if it's obvious that she has no idea how to comfort another human being.

"Ugh," she says, sounding more embarrassed than exasperated. "Ugh, I said that in the stupidest way, sorry." Then, after a pause, she adds, "I mean...it's all just stupid, anyway."

"Aww, no it's not," William says gently, very comfortable in his place nestled against her side. "I guess I get what you mean though. I know I don't have a crush on you, but I like cuddling you and stuff. I'd also feel weird if I suddenly felt the same thing toward someone else but with...other stuff too."

"Yeah," Lila says, sounding mopey. Probably because she's moping, if he had to guess. "It's not just that, either, wanting to touch this person the way I touch you also feels...different. Different in a way that's hard to pin down." She grabs his hand, having lost it in the shuffle of him sitting up, and once again starts tracing his fingers, running her thumb from the back of his hand, over his knuckles, down to his fingernails. "Like when I do this, it's nice, but I don't do it and think about you as my boyfriend. That'd be disgusting."

William barks out a laugh at that. Technically, it could be an insult toward him, but... "I understand what you're getting at, yeah. I want to be close to you, but you're not, like, my girlfriend or anything, and I wouldn't really want you to be. You're just my friend, but, like...a friend I want to cuddle sometimes."

"Stop saying that we cuddle," Lila scoffs, but the usual harshness of her tone is still rather muted. "But...yeah. Exactly. It's different, and it's weird."

William hums sympathetically, giving her arm a light pat. "Yeah," he says quietly. "That does sound weird." Then, after a pause, "I'm sorry. I wish I could help you more."

Lila huffs, letting her cheek rest against his head. "I wish you could help me more too," she bemoans, interlocking their fingers and giving his hand a light squeeze. "But, whatever. Just talking about it was nice, so you're not completely useless..."

Once again, William just chuckles at that. He can hear the unsaid Thank you in her voice, and he appreciates it, even if he does wish she would just be straightforwardly nice to him sometimes. Hell, not even just to him, oftentimes he wishes she would be nice in general.

But...she's working on it. He thinks. There's been a notable difference in the way she speaks to Martha, Ellie, and Regina, anyway. She's still on guard around Jim and Mike, and god, he doesn't really know what her deal with Tanya is, but she's friendlier with those three, at least. And...she's been more gentle with him, too. At the very least there's been less pinching.

He's proud of her. Which is another thing he can't tell her if he doesn't want her to laugh in his face, but, hey. Maybe one of these days.

"...you wanna lay down now?"

Her question pulls him out of his introspection, and William hums in assent, finally pulling his head off of her shoulder. "Are we gonna take a nap now?" he asks, rubbing at his face absently. "I got pretty close to falling asleep before, well, you know."

She sniffs, pulling her legs up on the bed and stretching out behind him, her arms and legs reaching each end of the mattress before she rolls back onto her side and brings them back in again. "I mean, you can sleep if you want. I don't know if I will."

"You're not at all tired?" he asks, curling up on his side next to her. They're face to face, now, and he can see the exhaustion in her face, as well as the slight flush left over from their conversation.

"Not really," she sniffs. "I mean, I don't think I am enough to fall asleep. I just want to rest my eyes a little."

"Oh, okay," he says, scooting a little closer to her. "I might fall asleep. You didn't want to talk more, did you?"

Lila shakes her head rather than verbally answer, and William smiles to himself. She's probably going to fall asleep too, judging by the way she's gotten quieter, but even if she doesn't, he knows she'll let him sleep if he needs to. Unless something important happens. Or if she gets too bored, which is something important in Lila's eyes.

She kind of is the worst, but luckily for her, he kind of does love her.

He lets his eyes fall closed then, pressing further into her warmth until he's tucked up under her chin. She doesn't fight him on it, instead wrapping a loose arm over him, and he knows he's very close to drifting off when he hears her ask one last thing.

"You're really not going to ask who my hypothetical crush is on, are you?"

It's an interesting remark—it almost sounds like she's disappointed. Still, it's not interesting enough for him to open his eyes. "I kinda figured I wouldn't be able to get it out of you," he mumbles, his voice muffled by her collarbone. "Why?"

"...I dunno. I just thought you would ask," she says, starting to sound close to sleep herself.

"Did you want me too?"

"No." She says it too quickly. And then amends, "Maybe..."

He laughs sleepily, resting one curled up hand on the small of her waist, wanting to be closer, trying to absorb the warmth she's emanating—she's always run weirdly warm, while he runs weirdly cold. He tries not too think too hard about the way that makes them fit so well together. "Tell you what. When I wake up, I'll pester you about it as much as you want me to. Is that okay?"

"I didn't want you to pester me," she protests, scowl audible in her voice. "Just ask."

He laughs again, suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling of contentment. "'m gonna pester you so hard," he mumbles, picturing the dirty look he knows she's giving him despite his still closed eyes. "'m not gonna leave you alone until you give me answers. S'only fair."

"How's that fair?"

"I mean...you pester me when I try to keep secrets from you."

"I don't..." Lila protests, but she sounds amusingly unsure. "Besides, since when did you try to keep secrets from me anyway...?"

"Mm. I stopped tryin' cuz you'd always get them outta me."

"Well, that just sounds like your fault."

"...maybe you've got me there," he mumbles, chuckling softly. "I jus' think it's my turn to needle somethin' out of you this time, mmkay?"

"Yeah, well, good luck with that," Lila grumbles, making him giggle more.

The two of them then lapse into a comfortable silence, aside from their quiet breathing. William is just about asleep when he feels more than hears Lila murmur something against his hair.

"Love you, Will. No matter what happens."

He smiles widely at that. She must think he's asleep—rarely does she say that she loves him without him saying it first. Even then, he usually receives it with a (nonetheless fond) eye roll, so hearing it now sounding so genuine is a nice treat.

"Love you too, Lila," he mumbles back, his voice slurred from exhaustion. "Love you so so much."

Given the way she tenses, he was probably right in thinking that she thought he was asleep. Still, she doesn't respond with a protest or a quip like she normally does, whether because of her tiredness, or maybe she just wanted to let a nice moment linger for once. Either way, he'll count that as a win.

It doesn't take him long to drift off after that, the smile not leaving his face even as he sleeps.
