Chronically ill people should be allowed to kill Anyone who tells them to be grateful or that they're "lucky" that their disease/disability isn't showing up on bloodwork/tests.

The idea that you're "lucky" if your disability/disease doesn't show up on tests because if it did, it would be worse is so fucking shit.

I need a wheelchair, I'm homebound, on heart medication, three different pain medications (and more!) and can barely navigate my house but according to doctors, I'm "lucky" my disease isn't progressive enough that they can figure it out. Apparently, since it doesn't show up on tests, that means whatever I have is considered "mild".

Personally, I think that idea should die in a ditch and chronically ill people without diagnoses should be allowed some kind of compensation for it existing in the first place.

I'm ngl, one of the things I really like about The Heart Killers is that I can totally buy the actors as being gay. Admittedly my gaydar isn't as precise as my lesbidar(likely bc I'm much more invested in the latter), but there are plenty of shows where one or more of the actors comes off as straight, and not actually attracted to their acting partner. But with this show I completely buy the actors as being gay and attracted to their acting partner. Which is really nice.

I have a question. How do autistic people feel about being called “an autist”? It feels ummm slur-y to me but I’m not an authority on this, so I don’t know, my opinion doesn’t matter here. I probably wouldn’t say it myself either way but I’m wondering if it’s like a red flag that someone’s an asshole if they say it.

And I’m asking this as a person who isn’t crazy about person-first language, it always smacks of someone who is just afraid of adjectives / doesn’t understand English word order. But the jump from “advective person” to “NOUN” feels bad.

We haven’t started homeschooling yet because I wanted my big kid to have a substantial break. Often I feel crazy and like a bad parent because I have a school-aged child who is currently not in school. This feels like neglect.

But it also felt abusive to drop a child off at a place where he spent hours lowkey suffering every day. It was horrible watching him have multiple meltdowns a week. It was sad when he had no energy to do anything other than zone out on his electronics. There were no friend prospects in sight.

He’s still spending too much time on his electronics. But he also had another hangout with his new friend N yesterday. We met her and her mom at the local coffeehouse, and the kids played card and board games for two hours. Tomorrow I’m dropping him and Riv off at my parents’ where they’ll see a play, go to a Christmas tree farm, and go to church. I can reasonably expect him to be able to handle these activities instead of being worried that he’s too stressed out to deal with them. And today he joined Dominic and me for lunch at Mr. Chen’s, a delicious restaurant and Asian grocery store. He ate gyoza and tried crispy chicken. He bought these little bananas that he loves, which he used to get with his dad at the Asian market in Omaha.

We will figure out how to educate him. I’m sure it will be a bumpy ride at times. Most of the time I feel certain that he should be in school and not watching YouTube videos on his phone all day, but we’ll get there. And in the meantime I’m really grateful for the relative calm after weeks of high-strung dysfunction. He’s calmer, more loving and affectionate, and he’s more flexible too.

Anyway, I feel like an awful parent! I feel like a great parent!

I only really read comics offline, but I only ever read old comics. And so I'm thankful to marvel for all their remastered editions. Whether it be the Marvel Masterworks, the Marvel Epic Collections, or any other collection of theirs, i appreciate how easy it is to find high quality copies of their old comics. Even though all the marvel masterworks aren't available online, i appreciate how many there are. And I love how they open with written intros.

DC needs to make their own Masterworks. Maybe then I'd be more willing to try reading what little stuff DC wrote that was actually good. Because DC has good stuff, but they also have a good amount of stuff that bores me. But even still: I wish they had more remastered editions of their old 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s comics.

idk but when the medusa scene came up and they did NOT automatically villainize her was anyone else kinda frothing at the mouth because medusa was, in fact, a victim and that letting her kinda become a good guy who's kind of just bitter about what's happened to her, and have our main trio realize that, would be SO cool and definitely fit this modern day and age more?
