april 1st, two days before my birthday, aparently they posted literally my favorite tweets ive ever seen in my entire life. god. thirty year old ouma. youre my everything. youre literally my everything.

just caught up with Your Turn To Die and absolutely adored it the whole way through. it goes unbelievably hard. calling it Danganronpa But Good feels like an insult. but like... yeah what if danganronpa was good? or rather. game that makes me wish danganronpa was good.

it really keeps you on your toes the Entire time, which is why i ended up saving like......... every five to ten minutes, most times. i would say the only slower part is the minigames during chapter 2? but, i thought those were fun, and they were still broken up by plot important stuff, so i really didnt mind.

ive heard the game had a soundtrack release on CD a few years ago, but i cant seem to find much information about it? much less any resell listings. how sad... i love cd...

i wanna talk more in depth from here on out so spoilers under the cut! warning thoughts very disjointed. and i havent seen absolutely Everything the game has to offer yet (havent done any of the side stories, we'll do them soon probably) so if my takes are disproven by anything ive yet to see please do not tell me htank you

first off OHHH MY GODDDD THIS GAME IS SO MUCH LESS CREEPY ABOUT THE MINORS AND ITS SUCH A BREATH OF FRESH AIR COMPARED TO DANGANRONPA. its not perfect, of course, i do not entirely love the jokes(???) about keiji (known grown adult man) going on dates with sara (known teenage girl), but like, this game does not make me feel gross all the time? thank u nankidai for not making your teacher character with a close relationship with one of his former students a groomer! the bare minimum! im gonna hit kodaka with a stick this should not be a point in the game's favor.

anyway! ended chapter 2 with Reko and Sou (shin) alive, ended chapter 3 having lost Reko .. . :( shes my favorite... i was so sad... ranmaru we're not friends anymore/.... you suck... you killed my best girl... we um, did make a grand total of 175 save files though, so at some point me and the friend i played with are gonna go back and scrub through anything and everything that we missed. maybe after we do the side stories though, not sure yet. reko yabusame i swear to god i will crawl into the screen and kill ranmaru myself for you. i will save you. i love you so much mwah

for years ive only known midori as The Guy That Kids On Danganronpa Discourse Instagram Put Overdramatic Yet Also Somehow Extremely Haphazard Trigger Warnings on every post that included him, so i was really excited to meet him. and boy he did not disappoint this guys NUTS!!! HES CRAZAY!!!!!!!! he has such a perfectly striking look about him. i love how he almost never stops looking straight at you, and how his suit is stark black so it obscures a lot of his shape when he's in the dark, its so cool. they absolutely nailed the atmosphere whenever you're around this guy.

but the first jumpscare when he like reaches out at you from the coffin just kinda made me laugh. me when i get you

also, if you're this far in to care about my opinions on games you probably know that i am Known Danganronpa V3 Hater. i think in particular Kokichi Ouma is way too good of a character for how dogwater the game's actual plot is, and Shin Tsukimi, while not being the same, obviously, scratches that itch of a guy trapped in a death game that spends all his time lying and living under a persona because he's afraid of dying perfectly While Being In A Game That Doesnt Make Me Feel Like Eating Sheet Metal . i love this dude and his ugly several clashing colors outfit. he wants my ass like mega dead right now but thats not important surely

also, i think its sweet that joe and sara are just best friends and they rarely ever even entertain the idea that they had romantic feelings for each other. i think its extra sweet and tragic that joe was able to tell sara he loved her in the end, meaning it as his best friend. and the way the game completely ceases showing you flashbacks of him after that point and just lets the image of the hallucinations replace his actual memory overtime is so good and haunting. this doubled down by the way her memory of him is completely locked up as soon as she starts trying to actually remember the way he really was, its so good.

i think thats all i have to say for now, but umm!!! really really good im excited to go back and fill in the gaps i missed. especially regarding kanna becasue i have a lot of theories about her that i hope im on the right track about #lol. but even if i dont i want to see her i miss her. yaay!!! i love when video games are good. i love you video games.

ill probably make more posts down the line with more thoughts after i let them marinade in my brain for a while... mostly when i have thoughts ive been sending them to the friend im playing with so we can discuss theories together LOL

He was already used to being short so anyone he liked was naturally taller than him. But you being 6' 1" was something he never experienced. You were a LITERAL foot taller than him! He was entranced

Pretty much instantly he turned on the Ouma charm~

And by Ouma charm I mean the charm of a middle school boy pulling the pigtails on the girl he likes

His flirting is a bit more of a teasing type. It not anything bad, but he definitely likes to poke fun and joke around

Whenever you do something like eat a weird food or have an odd hobby, he likes to playfully gasp

"Aw, you like ketchup on your hot dog? Man, I don't know if this is gonna work out between us anymore..."

You tend to watch TV as a group with your friends. Anytime a couple kisses on screen, Kokichi likes to nudge you in the side

"Hey hey! You know, that could be ussss~ Come on, come on!"

When next to you he likes to give little pokes and pinches to your body, and when you look he gives his little shit eating grin

"You can't blame me when you have a body like that, I can't help myself! You're just too cute!"

Whenever you catch him eyeing you, he gives a little wink

You do notice most of his compliments focus on your body, so it seems like he just wants to get in your pants. I mean, he does. But he actually really thinks you are adorable and so kind! Everytime you laugh or smile he can feel himself melt inside

Anytime you walk in the room he instantly perks up, everyone can see that clearly. He'll jump up from his seat and call out your name sweetly to get your attention

Although he almost constantly washes you with praise and makes flirty comments, they really only make you feel worse. In the past you've had very bad experiences with relationships. There were even a few boys that asked you out as a joke. It fucking hurt then, and it still does now

Also, you've heard from the others how much he likes to lie to others and cause problems. If he's such a well known liar, how could you trust he's being genuine with you? He's probably lying so you'll fall for him, then pull the rug out from under you and laugh

At first you seemed to blush and play along, but as time went on Kokichi noticed you become more and more distant. Sometimes you would even walk right out of a room if you saw him. He knew he shouldn't care that much, you're just a girl. But he soon found himself following you

The more he tried to sweet talk you back, you just kept on walking faster. Eventually it got too much and you just exploded. You told him off, telling him he can stop mocking you already. You were already broken down by the past decade of your life, he didn't need to add onto it

This was the only time you've ever seen him serious. There was no cheeky smile or trickster eyes. The look on his face was almost scary with how serious it was, it sent a chill down your spine

"...Mock you? That's what you think I've been doing?"

As you nervously nodded your head he kept his glare, but then his face gently softened. He opened and closed his mouth multiple times, you could sense his hesitation and inner conflict with his words

When he managed to find the words, his voice was... oddly meek?

"Tch, really? I can't believe I fell for a dumbass like you..." It was in a condescending tone, but his averting eyes showed his anxiety. It was quiet and low, but you heard it loud and clear

Overwhelmed by emotions of all kinds, you quickly wrapped your arms around him. You don't know why you did it, your body just acted on it's own

His body was stiff. Kokichi isn't used to affection, especially physical. Everyone he knows pushes him away both literally and emotionally. This was... weird. Sure he found himself crushing on you, but the reciprocation was NOT expected. Eventually he found himself hugging you back

There were no more words spoken in that moment. It wasn't needed

From then on, Kokichi still continued to tease you, but this time, you understand his intentions and enjoy it

does ruruka's fear of getting hurt and being abandoned humanize her or does it make her look worse? woudkl you say ouma's willingness to stop the killing game humanizes him or does it also make him look worse because of the sheer ruthlessness he displays in getting what he wants? what about saionji? because she's ironically buddies with mahiru, who is a bullying victim yet refuses to show the same courtesy to anyone else and she's still a rude, selfish asshole even after losing mahiru.

Until we understand that she's so full of fear and self-loathing, Ruruka can seem downright cartoonish in her evil behavior, so I do think it hels humanize her a bit. Not enough to make her sympathetic by any stretch, but it makes her more of a realistic human being. Even so, her selfish/dangerous attitude towards Seiko's allergies is really hard to forgive even if it's depressingly realistic.

Kokichi's "good intention" of stopping the kiling game would hold more weight if he made any effort to actually stop someone from killing when he easily could've. Instead, he both ignores multiple opportunities to stop and then actively helps a fourth murder to occur. So... yeah, it's hard to say that does much for him. You could probably argue that he was just lying again about his hatred of the killing game, because he's such an incredibly unreliable source of info that it's not like there's any reason we should ever trust anything he says (regardless of how emotional he may appear when saying it). But I really believe he hated the killing game and wanted to end, actually! I just think his logic was probably that Miu and Gonta's deaths were sacrifices that served his desire to appear to be the mastermind, which he deemed a necessary part of his plan to end the game. Which is still horrible and illustrates what I once wrote about how trying to stop or face down the Killing Game alone will always get you death and failure, but... there it is.

Hiyoko isn't much more of a reliable source of info than Kokichi is. She's prone to spilling crocodile tears to get what she wants and is content to manipulate people into doing chores/errands for her, so I've always been skeptical of her supposedly tragic backstory of being bullied/threatened. Besides: If someone was really bullied like that and then complains about it, you wouldn't expect them to do the same thing to other people, right? :P You'd think if that really happened to her, she'd have to take a very "that's just how people are, no big deal" attitude in order to justify her own continued behavior. That said: I do think Hiyoko's behavior improves a little after Mahiru dies... but only just a teensy bit. At least she manages to show that she's upset about losing Mahiru, which is more than we got from her in regards to any of the other lost or near-lost lives up to that point. It's not nearly enough to signal to me that she was on track to turn her whole-ass life around, however. Even so: She does expresses mild gratitude to Tsumiki for saving her ass in the DR3 finale. Only AFTER she bitches about it, of course, but...... I guess we could take this as a sign that she might be taking baby steps towards self-improvement?

i had an idea. i know i have a bad problem with using Kaito being an ass about Saiouma getting together as minor conflict, but it's really hard not to as a daily prompt writer when i run out of think juice and it's just right there, so i bring to you a fun way of applying it.

Kaito, realizing Shuichi doesn't care about the lying aspect of Kokichi, finds he has to think outside the box if he wants to stop this relationship from getting far. So, he tries to convince him that he should stop dating Kokichi by coming up with increesingly more desperate- and by extension more comical- what ifs about how he might work as a boyfriend.

The fun part is coming up with the ridiculous things he might say.

Shuichi probably finds a bit of humor in it, knowing good and well Kaito's just being petty at this point and is just grasping at straws. bonus point if he actually knows the answer to some of the the what ifs Kaito throws at him.

"What if he snores so loud you can't sleep, sleepless nights aren't healthy!" "he doesn't, i've woken him up snoring at a sleep over though". "you can't cook for the both if you every day with how exausted you get after work" "Momota... do why you think Ouma can't cook? he's way better than i am". "what if he tries to trick you into doing something sexual?" "he's the single most consent conscious person i've ever met, both in sexual and non sexual situations"

Kaito is really learning alot more about both Shuichi and Kokichi than he wanted to trying to break them up.

He had fallen to his knees in front of you after stating so. All you could offer him was a pitiful look as pure despair was overtaking him, seconds away from releasing waterworks. You had no idea if this was an act just to mess with you or not. He's never stooped to this level before, quite literally. Showing up to your house in the middle of the night crying was a new thing that you'd never seen from him.

He meant it this time. He swears it on his life that he means it.

"Ouma, I don't know what you're expecting me to say here."

All he could do was look up at you, teary-eyed, choking on the words he wish he had told you so much earlier, and the real amends he wanted to make with you. He tried to get the words out, but nothing came from it, at least you noticed he was trying.

Say that you forgive him for all of the pain he's caused you, that it's ok, that you still love him, even just addressing him by his first name again. That's everything he could ever ask of you. He would do anything just to be able to hug you again without you shrinking back away from him.

He screwed around, played with your feelings until you just stopped reciprocating altogether. The "I love you" 's he told you in a nonchalant tone, only to tell you "it was a lie!", that he couldn't ever think of you that way. He kept backing out, he couldn't tell you how much you actually meant to him. The first few dozen times he told you that though, you believed him, which is what made the fact that it was true hurt even more. The longer he put off confessing, the more time he left you to think that he was actually lying about his feelings.

You never would've expected that you were his personal kryptonite. That façade of his had you thinking he had some type of vendetta against you. All of the pranks, mean words that always got under your skin, and his overwhelming presence at all of the wrong times. Making you miserable was never his real goal, if anything, it made Kokichi even more upset with himself.

Just because he wasn't ready for the commitment doesn't mean he had the right to hurt you like that. That's what he tells himself. 'You screwed up. This is your fault. It's all because of you, you, you! You got yourself into this mess, now fix it!'

But he never could. Every time he went to apologize you thought he was lying once again, because he'd just do it all over again.

You started avoiding him to get away from that, to get away from him. He'd be really mopey every time you tried dating. By that time, he was already head over heels for you. To see you being happy with someone else just hurt him in ways he couldn't begin to comprehend. He never said a word about it though, he'd never try to hurt your partners, he couldn't. If they made you happy, splitting you two would just make your image of him worse. He tried to be nice, tell you that he was happy for you every time you "found someone". He wanted to believe that he was happy for you, he really tried to be.

The longer your relationships lasted, the more he felt that he was falling. He hated it, he hated them. He hated himself for not confessing when he had the chance. So many missed opportunities that he'd scold himself over. The second that those relationships ended though, he was able to breathe once more. The relief and hope that he could tell you now, only to rinse and repeat.

= How he loves you so, to the point where it hurts to breathe. The words, his own tears, just the thought of you leaving him completely alone, these things were suffocating him.

The times you felt he was being honest with you, you said "I love you too." That's what kills him now, he had everything he wanted in front of him. before you two even think of a relationship, one of the first things kokichi figures out about you is that you have a hard time remembering things...

in fact, the first time he notices is the first time he meets you

of course, when he met you, he was rambling about his secret organization

he even insisted you join! 

and surprisingly, you didn’t turn him down right away

you were actually interested in his group, and even had a few questions to ask him!

but when you opened your mouth and started to speak, someone walked over, derailing your train of thought

kokichi quickly shooed them away, but it was too late, you forgot literally everything you were going to say

you tried to think back but the most you could recall was the question being about his secret organization

Kokichi wails "H-hey, i forgive them.. it's not like they murdered me or anything! I'm still here, with just some small injury!" You giggled "Are you that nice?" Kokichi mumbled, before getting up "Hey c'mon! Let's go to Keeboy and have fun with him!" Kokichi smiled mischievously, you laugh "let's go."

That was actually to distract you and go to the person who hurted you and prank the fuck out of the person-

Gonta, and Kaito. With Tenko and the other people "S/O, KOKICHI!" Gonta yelled "Is there any water to put the fire out?" Tenko asked, she doesn't even care if the males save them she just wants them to be saved "I have it here!" Kaito yelled holding some fire grenades with him, he passed the fire grenades to everyone and they started to throw it in the fire

After some minutes, the fire stopped. The others rushed in there finding you two, they picked you two up and put you two in the dorms, Kirumi offered to heal you two. 1st degree burns.. a lot of bruises and blood on you. It took you two two days to wake up.. Kokichi woke up first "nghn.. uh what happened?" Kokichi asked, confused before realizing "ah!- is S/O okay! They better be okay!" Kokichi pouted, looking at Kirumi "they're okay, they just needed more rest then they'll be fine, no need to wory Kokichi. I attended to their injuries quickly after everyone pulled you two out of the fire, they are right next to you Kokichi." Kokichi looked next to him to see you beside him resting peacefully "oh damn, nishishi~" Kokichi looked at Kirumi "Can you leave? I have something to do, like a leader would do!" Kokichi just want to cuddle you actually. Kirumi did as he said, but she knew that he wanted to cuddle you after seeing you there beside him, she smiled.

Kokichi wailed trying to attack Angie, but Gonta was holding onto him as Shuichi said, Angie laughed "S/O offered me some of their-" Shuichi isn't having none of it "Listen.. uhm, you almost killed S/O and Kokichi, how is that uh- related to Atua? And you started a fire for hell's sake...!" Shuichi yelled at Angie, Angie didn't smile. It sended chills on all of their spines.. it wasn't normal for her to not smile, since she always smiles. Seems like she isn't gonna talk for the time "Guys, please don't worry, i forgive her." You jumped in "WHAT? She almost killed you y'know!?" Kaito yelled "Yeah! The idiots right! Angie killed you!" Kaede, Tsumugi, and Rantaro reacted altogether, Rantaro ran towards Shuichi pushing him and trying to do something so he couldn't move "Anyone here have any rope? We need to tie him up first before questioning whats happened." Rantaro stated, looking up at the others "I-I'm sorry.." —When you were first introduced, Kokichi immediately took interest in you because he admired your acting skills. You could pretend to be in any mood and he wanted you to join his secret organization and work for him.

—Even though he said his pranks were harmless, you had to refuse because you wanted to help people with your talent, not put them in pain.

—"How boooring," he then left you alone. You guessed that was the end of it but he kept watching over you.

—You were trying to help anyone, putting them before you and completely ignoring the fact that you had a life of your own and still tried to keep up with everybody although you hadn't have time.

—Watching over you from afar made him realise how lonely you actually were. He saw how unhappy you were and your efforts of trying to put a smile on everyone's faces when you clearly weren't at your best. That pissed him off, truly

—"Auch-" "You shouldn't have run so carelessly, you are lucky you didn't sprain your ankle." You said as you massaged his ankle gently and smiled softly. "Does it hurt? How does it feel?" You asked him. "It doesn't hurt at all." He said, looking away in annoyance.

—"Nagito!" You jumped to give him a tight hug and he awkwardly hugged you back. "Huuuh?" You looked at him and smiled, "What's up?? Why aren't you hugging me properly?"

—"Ah-Sorry! I am a bit sleepy, that's all, hahah." He laughed and pat your head (ejvnmrcmcjcnc) You raised an eyebrow at him suspiciously. Ever since you started dating, it was easier for him to fall asleep. "Did you have a bad dream or anything like that?" You asked worriedly and he shook his head. "No.. Uhm, Y/n, do you want to take a walk with me? Maybe we can talk a bit."

—You were confused but still went with it. The curiosity was eating you alive but you still remained silence-just like him. When is he going to speak...? "So—uh, Y/n, it is a beautiful day, isn't it." "Y-yeah, it's beautiful indeed..." You laughed awkwardly. This is no good.

—"Y/n.. I've noticed something. I should have noticed it earlier but I only noticed it now-" You gave him the look and he stopped breathing for a second, "Sorry.. It's just that.." He bit his lip and stopped. You got a little bit inpatient. "Come on."

—"N-no, that would make you uncomfortable." He refused to speak but you gently pinched his cheek, "Just tell me. We are good, aren't we?" You gave him the puppy eyes that he couldn't resist and he sighed. "I just think.. You are having a hard time being honest with yourself."

—That was the moment it all hit you. You stopped walking and stared at him in awe. "W..What do you mean?"

—"Now don't get me wrong.. I think you're adorable and that will never change, I mean just look at you! You are always ready to help anyone and put others before you--but.. Is this how you truly mean?" He questioned you and you gulped. Shit. He knew, huh.

—"It's not like I am gonna judge you or anything, Y/n." He took your hand in his tightly just for you to know he's there. "I just wanted you to know I am here, and you can talk to me about anything. You are not alone, you got me and others, don't you?" He smiled at you softly but your heart was beating too fast to say anything. "You don't have to become someone else and hide anything. We are going to help you, just like you always do."

Reader x Kokichi with the Despair Disease!

You opened the door to the hospital room, and there he was. The boy everyone thought they knew somewhat well, but who had seemed so far away ever since this motive began, lay in a light sleep on the bed in the back of the room. Kokichi Ouma. I shouldn't be in here long, you thought. Might catch the disease, we don't know if it's contagious or not. You took a few steps forward, quietly shutting the door behind you, and tightened your grip on the flowers in your hand.

You tried to walk over to the table next to Kokichi's bed without waking him, but he snapped out of his rest as soon as you took the first step towards him.

"Hmmmmgh?" He grumbled, sitting up a bit and rubbing his eyes. "...Kirumi, that you? Oh, wait, no, it's Y/N. Hey. Nice to see ya."

He seemed so… out of it. Like the complete opposite of the jumpy liar you had gotten used to. Although, you figured that made sense, since he was stuck with the Truth Disease and couldn't lie.

"Hey, Kokichi. I'm just here to change out the flowers, is all." You gave the boy a worried smile. He looked paler than he had the last time you'd seen him, and he was sweating from the extreme fever.

"You… go ahead, then…" he said softly, dropping his head back onto the pillow, his eyes barely open.

You switched the fresh flowers with the drooping ones in the vase on the small table, and you were about to throw out the old ones when you heard Kokichi's voice behind you.

"Y/N…"

You turned around. "Hm?"

"Why do you throw out the flowers when they're still alive? Just because they've chosen to look down for a bit, because they're tired of pretending to be so cheerful all the time?"

"Kokichi…"

He shut his eyes completely and continued rambling, not letting you speak. "It's because people are stupid. Selfish. They only want the things they like, and if they're given anything else they just dump it in the trash with the other useless things. They don't care about the feelings of trash, or flowers, or anything, they just see something that isn't good enough for their selfish brains and throw it away. Yeah. That's how life is, y'know?"

You thought you saw a tear fall down his cheek at the end of that rant, but you weren't sure. This Despair Disease sure was making him think differently- or at least act differently- than normal. You couldn’t help but think he was lying, as he usually did, but this was the Truth Disease. These were Kokichi’s genuine feelings, apparently. And if Monokuma hadn’t lied, and Kokichi was really like this inside… you felt bad for him.

You walked back to his bedside and put the old flowers back with the new ones.

He opened his eyes some at the sound of your footsteps near his bed. Looking up at the mixture of blooms, he cracked a smile you’d never seen from him before.

“Y/N… The flowers are beautiful, don’tcha think? But, like, they’re not as beautiful… as you.”

This surprised you. You could feel the blush spreading quickly over your cheeks. “Uh, Kichi?”

“Yeah… you’re really pretty, Y/N. I never told ya, cause I thought you’d assume I was lying. But… I like you.” He said, glancing at your face. “Hehe, you’re blushing!” He yelled, smiling brightly and pointing at you. You backed up, practically stumbling backwards from the flustering surprise, and he sat up to keep pointing at you and giggling, now more energetic all of a sudden.

You walked out of that room without another word past indecipherable mumbles. No way. No way did the supreme leader actually have a crush on you. He… he must’ve found a way to cheat the Despair Disease or something. He tricked Monokuma once, he could do it again, right? But it sure didn’t feel like a lie. And you definitely didn’t want it to be a lie.

Because, in all honesty, you liked him back.
