Reader is very in tune with their emotions and speaks how they feel. Bakugo is the opposite. What a mix.

Loud music filled the small dorm you and Bakugo were in. You mindlessly read through a manga on the others bed while he worked on his hero gauntlets. Bakugo had put on one of his favorite bands only too fond out you liked them to, this spurd on a talk that was more enjoyable then he care to admit.

Every once and a while bakugo would look up at you from where he sat on the floor. Your head bounced to the beat of the songs blasting through the speaker, he watched as your eyes skimmed the pages beneath you. Nimble fingers flipping the pages every few seconds.

The two of you had grabbed a snack from the kitchen together before heading to his dorm, the trash long forgotten in his bin. All that was left now was a soda sitting on Bakugos bed side table. A vibration from his pocket snapped him out of his daze, checking the caller ID he saw it was Kirishima.

With a groan and eye roll he begrudgingly picked up the phone. You curiously looked towards Bakugo, he mouthed Kirishimas name and you gave him a nod in return. Bakugo listened to the red head go on about needing the blonds help in his dorm.

Bakugo cursed under his breath but agreed non the les. After hanging up the teen pushed himself off the floor and made his way towards the door. "Shitty hair needs my help for something, I'll be back in a minute. Don't mess with any of my stuff you got it?" With a nod you waved off the young hero.

The red head needed help moving stuff around his dorm and needed his many friend to help. It had taken Bakugo longer than he wished, almost half an hour went by before he was heading back to his dorm.

When he walked through the door he was met with the sight of you splayed out on his bed, almost in the same position yiu were in when he left. What caught his eye was what you were wearing. It was one of his black skull shirts. You were practically drawing in the oversized clothing.

A mixture of annoyance, confusion, and an unknown feeling washed over the blond teen. "The fuck are you doing?" His voice wasn't as sharp as he intended, in fact is was a lot weaker. You looked good amazing in his clothes. No what? Katsuki Bakugo was not thinking that, he couldn't be.

The smile you had on your face when he came in contorted into confusion at his words. "Huh?" You looked at your friend in confusion. He scoffed in response, "The fuck you wearing my shirt for?" Understanding flooded your features when you looked down.

"Oh yeah. I spilled my drink and I didn't want to have to walk all the way back to my dorm soaked in soda so I thought I'd just put one of yours on." You explained like it was the most obvious things in the world. The longer you spoke the less Bakugo paid attention. More so focused on the way you looked lounging in his clothes.

The shirt was oversized sure, but the way you were laying made it accentuate you features in ways Bakugo hadn't noticed before. Sure he realized you were attractive but he didn't think about stuff like that, untill now at least. It took him a moment to realize he was staring untill h a looked towards your face riddled in confusion.

"Sorry if I did something wrong just our dorms are far apart and-" "It's fine."Bakugo practically blurted out his response, embarrassment seeped into his veins. He closed his eyes at his desperate voice, he hoped you didn't realize just how much this affected him.

"Oh good, you scared me for a second." You pause, thinking for a second before saying. "You know, this smells like you. Not to sound creepy but I like it." Your voice was soft and warm, like you truly meant everything you said. A deep red blush rose to his face and fortunately you either didn't notice or just didn't mention it. That familiar twisting in his gut signaled he needed to be alone.

He couldn't be around anyone, specifically you, when he was like this. What would you do if you realized how weak he got at a few of your sweet words. No one ever talked to him like that yet you did it so flawlessly it drove him crazy.

To Bakugos luck it was about time for dinner, at least for him since he went to sleep sp early. "Hey I-" he stumbled over his words, how was he supposed to ask you to leave when he wanted you to stay? "I'm going to get done dinner so-" you cut him off.

"Oh yeah you eat really early! I forgot sorry Bakugo." You began grabbing your things. Along with the still wet tee and you backpack. "Hey is it cool if I return this short to you tomorrow? I can wash it for you since I was the one that made it dirty." You chuckle a bit as you amke your way to the door.

Bakugo mumbles out a rushed string of "Yeah that's cool." As he moves out of your way to the door. You make it half way out the door before you are turning around with an excited, "Oh I forgot!"

Confusion floods Bakugos features as you grab your phone out your pocket. "Can I have your number?" Your words are blunt as you hand the blond your phone. His response is delayed from surprise but he still grabs the phone. "What why?" The confusion is real, no one had asked him for it before let alone so bluntly he wasn't sure how to react.

"Well for when I want to talk to you and I'm not, you know, around you." You explain to him so simply that he is grateful his hair has been growing out and it covers his now bright red ears. "Oh yeah right." You just beam brightly at him while he puts in his number practically on auto pilot.

"Thanks! I'll see you later Bakugo!" You call out to him as you make you way out the door and down the hallway. Bakugo waves slightly and goes back into his dimly lit dorm. He falls onto his bed and practically dies at the smell of you covering his sheets. He put his head in his hands for a moment before a ding from his phone makes his head perk up. The text reads:

Unknown Number: Hey its Y/n! Since it's the weekend tmr do you want to go to this new restaurant with me for dinner?

God Katsuki Bakugo cannot be this flustered by a dinner request. He types out a meek yes hoping his uncharacteristic nervousness doesn't transfer through his screen. The only thing he could think of was how much he actually did want to go on this...date.

1. First Note of Love 🇹🇼 (8/12)

I need them all to communicate more. Not about each other but with each other. And really listen to the other one. Most of the episode was the side couple and one discuss why he thinks they would never work out and the other one tries to tell him why he thinks they could make it work. At least they're talking.

2. I Saw You In My Dream 🇹🇭 (11/12)

I love these two together. They just work and are cute and you can feel the love between them. Yu is a really perfect first boyfriend. He doesn't push and just accepts Ai as he is. I enjoy their relationship so much. And now I am really curious what will happen in the last episode.

3. Jack & Joker: U steal my heart! 🇹🇭 (3/12)

I could watch War looking at this ring for an entire episode and I wouldn't be bored. He really nailed this episode with his many personas he played. He is indeed a good actor and such a pretty one too. And I was screaming, when Jack gave the ring to Joker and let him get away. And next week we get some redemption work. Can't wait!

4. Kidnap 🇹🇭 (4/12)

These two are so cute. I know shit is going down soon, but until then I enjoy those two flirting with each other to the max. Min is already so smitten by Q and Q is realising, his feelings are a little bit more than just friends. I really like it.

5. Word of Honor 🇨🇳 (20/36)

Do you still believe I'll come back to this one? It is a really good series, but I can't motivate myself to dive into it right now 🙈

Takara no Vidro 🇯🇵

We had our final today and I loved it! The fact both of them missed each other and communicated this. Taishin likes it when Takara opens up to him, because it makes him feel special and closer to him. And I get that. Takara is a person who doesn't talk much about himself, but who has so much anxiety and Taishin wants to share those burdens, because they are equal, because he wants to take care of Takara too. I started this series without any expectations and with mixed feelings, but it slowly became one of the gems of the week and I was so looking forward to this final episode! A really good 9 out of 10.

4 Minutes 🇹🇭

This was something else. You really have to pay attention to get this story. I like series with a not that sugar-coated ending and we definiteky got this with 4 Minutes. Not everyone got their happy ending. Even though Great and Tyme got their happy ending together, not everything was good here. That was kinda realistic in such a mystery series. But I must admit, I really liked Korn and Tonkla's ending. It was best for their story. I said what I said. This gets a good 9 out of 10.

Hidamari ga Kikoeru 🇯🇵

This series... I loved it with all my heart for the first half. And then I just got angry with it for multiple reasons. It is so hard for me to give this a rating. Damn. I bought the mangas because of this series and I read the first ones. The problem is, the story is really complex and that works for mangas and novels pretty well, because it gives the characters depth and well, a character. But it doesn't work like that in a series. Too many subplots take away the growth of the main characters. And if you throw in a new character in the middle of the show, don't make them that unlikable like Maya. She is way more likable in the manga. For me, the second half just doesn't work and it felt incoherent with the character development. They tried to stay too true to the source material. I wished I could love this series from beginning to end, but I couldn't. Overall I give it a 6,5 out of 10.

Seoul Blues 🇰🇷

I didn't like this one that much. Yes, they had good chemistry, but this whole cheating and evil ex plot was not for me. I don't know why. Usually I don't mind cheating plots and find them kinda entertaining, but here it was not that good. I give it a 6,5 out of 10.

The Trainee 🇹🇭

Fun thing, even though this was a slow burn and we got a bunch of side stories, I really enjoyed this series! It was funny and entertaining and showed a good character growth for all its characters. That is something we don't get that often in a series. Nothing felt like a side story. They were all important for the plot as for the company. And Jane and Ryan are just cute and precious. I give this one a 9 out of 10.

Happy of the End 🇯🇵

We got our happy ending. And a time jump, but I think it worked really well with this series. Because Haoran needed the distance to Chihiro. He needed to understand that he isn't the bad guy in the story and that Chihiro was truely happy with him. He needed to heal for his own sake and on his own. I really liked the series, even though it is one of the series with the most trigger-warnings. I am just happy to see them happy in the end, after all they've been through. A strong 9 out of 10 for me.

The On1y One 🇹🇼

This series gave me everything. A warm feeling in my cold heart. Butterflies in my stomach. A good laugh. Some tears. And a bunch of heartbreaks! Damn! This was such a good ride! Those two, Tian and Wang, are soon to be step-brothers and they're in love with each other. Tien knew this since the first time he saw Wang and we could whitness Wang slowly recognising his feelings for Tian. And we didn't get a happy ending. If you will, this is an open end, but there is no working through these feelings. We just end as devastated as Tian, because Wang has built up his emotional walls again to keep distance to Tian. Because they're will be brothers and that means they can't be lovers. This hurts so bad and good at the same time! And the acting is superb! I love this series so much! A 10 out of 10 for me.

you weighed his words, contemplating his suggestion before nuzzling into his neck, loosing a quiet breath. “you promise?”

“i promise.” the brunet confirmed, smiling softly as you got more comfortable on his lap, slipping one hand idly into his hair- an old trick you would use to either calm him down.. or in this case, serenade him.

tooru hummed at the action, aware of your true motives, but he couldn’t complain. he had his most favorite and beloved person in the universe clinging and cuddling him while running their fingers through his hair. and although it made him sleepy, he was on cloud nine.

“goodnight, y/n-chan.” he chuckled once he felt your fingers slow to a stop, rising from his spot on the couch to carry you back to your shared bedroom.

⌗ playing with his hair honestly calms him down really easily, especially when he’s on edge from a game, argument with osamu, or whatever else might be bothering him in the moment. it just resets him a little :’)

“you okay, ‘tsumu?” you asked upon stepping into your shared flat, doggy bag in hand. “samu asked me to bring you this when i went to onigiri miya today after my shift.” you added softly, joining him on the sofa. “everything okay?”

the blond looked over at you for a moment before letting a huff out, shaking his head. “don’t wanna say. yer gonna think it’s dumb.” he grumbled back, sinking more into the couch while you blinked.

it couldn’t be that bad, right?

a sincere smile crossed your lips as you petted his head gently. “come on, ‘tsumu. you can tell me anything! i promise i won’t laugh or think it’s dumb.” you assured him, placing the food down before patting your thigh.

for a moment he looked you up and down, then at the food. perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to tell you.

he let out a breath before lowering his head onto your lap, feeling your fingers weave through his hair in such a soothing manner. he could never tire of it, and somehow, it made him less reluctant. “i was playin’ switch with shoyo-kun and bokuto-kun, when this tiny ass spider suddenly crawled onto the table and freaked the shit outta omi-kun.” an exasperated sigh. “so he took his cleaning solution and started sprayin’ all frantically.. which got onto the joycons.” he confessed, pointing to the envelope on the coffee table. “so i have to send them for repairs, meaning NO SWITCH THIS WEEKEND.”

“y/n-chan..?” he called out, looking up to see you shielding your mouth — from laughing. “YER LAUGHING?? TRAITOR!!”

“did they now?” he asked, to show he was listening, and you hummed in agreement.

“sure did. i don’t get it, samu. they’d publish this piece of shit work, but not my story?? it’s preposterous.” you grumbled, pouting when your lover let out a laugh. what was so funny anyway? “hey!! don’t laugh! i’m genuinely irked by this!”

“sorry, love.” he chuckled a little, sliding the vegetables into the curry he was preparing before turning to kiss your head. “didn’t mean to laugh, just thought ya sounded a little cute there.” he responded, and it was true. you did sound adorable to him. “but you’ll find the right publisher someday, the world’s just not ready for yer book to destroy the market.”

you were reluctant at first with his words, but gave in, anyway. it was osamu miya, your everything. how could you possibly resist? “i suppose, i can wait a bit longer..” you agreed, albeit begrudgingly. “but that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook!”

the gray eyes male rose a brow before turning the knob on low. “that so? well, what would i have to do to be off the hook?” he asked, placing one hand at your waist while the other cupped your cheek.

a grin spread across your lips before you slipped your fingers into his hair. “i think you know the answer to that.” and that he did.

⌗ once your fingers slide into his hair, tetsuro is not moving. got a shift today at work? you’re calling sick. got plans with your friends? consider them cancelled.

“oh?” tetsuro rose a brow, noting the ds in your hands, which had his suspicions rising. “dare i ask where you got that from?” he inquired, taking up the vacant spot on the bed as he leaned over your shoulder.

your eyes barely lifted from the screen as you hummed, directing your character to a save point before looking over at your lover with a smile. “i think you might know the answer to that already.” you laughed, leaning up to kiss his cheek. “kenma let me borrow it for the week.” just as he suspected.

a hum left the cat eyed male’s lips as he got comfortable in his spot, scooting closer to you. “i figured as much.” he mused, draping an arm around your waist. “think you got room for one more on your chest? or is that reserved for video games only?”

you rose a brow at his response before letting out a laugh. “is that pettiness i detect, tetsu?” you asked, snickering further before letting out a breath. “i suppose i can make room for tonight..” you drawled out, turning off the device before placing it on your nightstand to charge.

a feline smirk etched onto kuroo’s lips as he wrapped his legs around your waist, moving his head to your chest as he closed his eyes. “perfect, that saves me the bribery.” he snickered out, feeling your fingers card gently through his hair as you scoffed, but smiled anyway.

“keiji?” you called his name softly, lifting your head off your pillow to find a male silhouette kicking off their shoes at the doorway. “it’s late.” you told him when he stepped into the dim light of the tv, frowning a little. “i was beginning to worry..”

“i know- sorry for missing dinner with you.. tenma-san wanted me to stay longer to try and figure out the direction of the new chapter he’s writing.” akaashi sighed out, sleep evident on his visage. he’d been working hard on finishing the chapter for three days now to meet the deadline, but it was taking a toll he hadn’t quite acknowledged yet.

but you did.

“keiji..” you murmured quietly before patting your lap. “come, lay down for a bit.. you’ve been working really hard, so you deserve to give yourself some time to relax.” you told him, smiling a little. “at least the chapter is finished so you can rest for a little without worrying of what needs to be done next.”

it was true, the turquoise eyed male knew it to be true, but he just couldn’t relax.. he kept thinking back to it, if what he done was good enough to be published for the public to see. the last thing he wanted to was let tenma down after all and —

“keiji.” you called again and he snapped from his thoughts, nodding slowly.

“sorry, sorry..” he muttered back, laying down on the vacant space while he rested his head on your lap. “how is this meant to help, though?”

a sigh left your lips, thinking the boy to be clueless. a few days at the office and he was up in the clouds. “just give it a second.” you told him, removing his glasses before carding your fingers through his hair, massaging him gently.

within a few minutes, he was out like a light.

His hand sneaks weak to your cheek, taking the tear that it's about to run down your cheek away with his thumb, leaving a little blood trace under your eye. You can't take your gaze away from his, you can't stop pressing the wound of his chest. He smiles, weak, softly, but only for you. You can hear the noise of explosions not far from you, more of your friends getting hurt, more of them dying. You keep pressing his chest while his head lays on your thighs. It's getting worse, but you are too selfish to leave Satoru here, alone, to his slow death. Specially, after he gave his own life for you. You're convinced there has to be a way to save him, to save your other half and the only man you've ever loved so deeply and strong to not be able to imagine a future without him. But still, with every blood drop that escapes between your fingers, a second of his life goes away. His usual pale skin looks transparent under the moon, and his body temperature isn't even close to the heat that receives you when you go to bed late. His blue eyes are teary, fixed on yours, still shining with all those feelings he has told you so many times before. "Toru, you're gonna make it alive." You're not sure to who you're trying to reassure, but a tiny part of your mind wants you to be right. You'll remember this moment when you grow old, he'll tell this story to your grandchildren.

Your tears fall slowly on his cheeks, getting mixed with his own ones, as he catches air to speak, even when you told him not to.

"Don't cry, my love. Don't cry for me." his low voice is followed by violent coughs. You try to calm yourself as you try your best to keep the wound pressed, but he rests his hands on top of yours, trying to put them away of his body, but you are firm on your decision. "Hide. Go away. Save yourself." You reject all his ideas shaking your head, too sad to speak. But then Satoru grips your arm stronger. "I can only trust Megumi to you. He doesn't deserve to lose us both." He caresses your skin lovingly, as he always does.

"He's not gonna lose us, Satoru. We can keep taking care of him together, you're gonna survive." You pray for the fight to be over, to someone to find you both, to someone to help him. He was there on every single scar your skin has now. That's what his wound will be, a scar more on his body.

When Gojo discovered that Sukuna took Megumi as his vessel, one part of him never recovered. Megumi wasn't blood-related to your man, but it was his only family. His child. He taught him how to do the laundry and how to cook. He read stories to him until the kid fell asleep, he made his favorite meal every single birthday the two of them passed alone. It was always Satoru and Megumi, until you entered their life.

Satoru felt like you were the missing puzzle piece for their little family. Megumi loves you as much as you love him. You're an example for the kid, and he has been always nice towards you. And Satoru. Goddess, Satoru is your soulmate.

There's no other way of explaining your bond, and there won't ever be a similar feeling towards anyone. You love him with every inch of your body and every particle of your soul. Your hearts followed the same pace, and you fear that yours will stop as soon as his does. But, as long as you're by his side, you'll make sure it still beats. Satoru sighs when another explosion sounds far, as if the fight was moving towards the surroundings of Tokyo. Sukuna probably believes Satoru is dead, and that's your best option to survive. You're sure someone will come and help you both. Both of you are still there, under an almost demolished building, covered in blood, dust and sweat, but together. Satoru's mind flies towards the events of this afternoon, as his eyes darken a little. He knows it wasn't Megumi, and he knows how to take Sukuna out without hurting him, but still... It was too impressive for him to react. Sukuna didn't need more than one hit to hurt him deadly. He played with Satoru, played with his feelings and his loyalties. And you'll never, never, forget that.

You hear quick steps around you, and you hug your boyfriends's body, still pressing on his chest. The voice that speaks from behind you is clearly recognizable.

"G-Gojo?" Utahime seems too shocked to speak, and even when she sighs when he speaks back to her, she quickly leaves in search of Shoko, even when the future of Satoru is not certain. He coughs softly before speaking.

"Sukuna will release Megumi once he gets all his power back." Satoru tries to fight the knot in his throat, and holds your hand in search of strength. "I'm not sure what... he will do to him first. Please, take care of Megumi. And remember him that nothing is his fault, and that I love him. And I'm proud of the man he is now." He looks directly in your eyes now, even when you can see him between tears. "My love." Why does he sound as if he was saying goodbye? He is going to make it. He's going to watch Megumi grow up by your side, he will still wake you up with breakfast in bed, and he'll prepare desserts for the three of you on his days off. He'll take you to dates, he'll buy more tiny things that reminded him of you, he'll take you for a walk every Sunday morning. He'll kiss your ribs and your wrists and your lower back as he always does, he will lend you his sweaters when you're cold and he'll take your hand in crowded and not so crowded places to keep you near. "You're strong, beautiful and pure. You have so many beautiful things waiting for you, even if I'm not here to see them with you." His cold hand touches your skin again. "Live for both, darling. Keep me in your mind, but don't let my memories tie you to the past." he takes air violently, and you press his wound harder. You're gonna save him. "And I love you. I love you in a way I didn't knew I could love, as if a part of my soul is tangled to yours." His eyes are teary again. He tries to sit, but he's too weak. Instead, he takes his index to his lips, kissing the fingertip, before slowly pressing it against your lips. "I love you."

And Satoru's heart stopped beating under your hand.

KNY Dorohedoro AU: WILDSIDE concept

Got this idea stuck in my head while I was doing some fast binge reading KNY fics -*in a whispered tone* mainly the ones with Demon Tanjiro- and doing other things that may or may not be related to KNY recently before when this AU just pop into my mind out of no where and I don't remember how it came to be so IDK, probably around while I was watching this video, but i'm pretty sure it was before that... maybe it was from thinking of other potential KNY au ideas rolling around in my skull while binge internet reading. And just this video lead me to give me just a enough motivation for me to post this Fusion Fic AU prompt here... amongst the pile of other Au ideas laying around in my files that will probably never see the light of day.

So the Dorohedoro-inspired idea & basic plot of this AU and prompt behind it is that it's kinda basically loosely Dorohedoro (as in the broadest of senses) but with KNY characters and probably some OCs that are thrown in too along with some other shits & stuff (there's a reason why it is called a Fusion Fic in TV Tropes terms): So one of our two or maybe more main characters is a scary-looking due to resembling like an actual Oni but actually is really nice if you know him amnesic demon/oni named/called Taiyouoni [太陽{たいよう}鬼{おに}] (who is technically an amnesic Tanjiro... yet he is not at the same time... It'sComplicatedIfYouHaven'tReadDorohedoroYet) -along with other potential names that I've thought up for him maybe like; Tanoni [炭{たん}鬼{おに}], Giki [曦{ギ}鬼{キ}], and/or Tanjioni [炭{たん}治{じ}鬼{おに}], among a few I could find and/or think up on, depending on which one you liked- who, alongside his pal and partner-in-crime-on-the-job accompanying him, Inosuke Hashibira (they would have a similar platonic relationship to Sam and Max. Also, I choose him bc he's my most favorite character in the series and was the one who introduced me to the series), are freelance Demon Slayers/Oni Slayers (since in the original japanese manga, the demons were called oni for a reason) together and is trying to search & find the demon/oni -or at least the culprit- who was responsible of transforming him into a demon/oni with a bunch of strange abilities that make him weird even by demon/oni standards like having the immunity of/being immune to the sun that made him the prime target for other demons/onis for instance -amongst the plethora of his other harmless-for-roughly-around-half-of-them but roughly-as-strange abilities- and leaving him unable to remember who he was before he was transformed into what he is now in the first place (hint: While he does exist in this AU, Muzan didn't transformed him despite him being the obvious culprit. As I said, it's complicated if you haven't read Dorohedoro yet), with the setting being something like a combination of 1920s Japan & America -including the elements of the time period like 1920s cities especially the American-influenced ones and gangsters/mafia- with a pitch & dash of both late 1910s & early 1930s and dieselpunk combined with elements of steampunk thrown in together along with some elements of other fantasy & scifi tropes too being mixed in as well. And probably other neat ideas from KNY fandom maybe being thrown in too.

For the mental imagine of Taiyouoni's character design with what he would looks like, I based his design & appearance on Goshinki from Inuyasha:

But probably with extra details, like- IDK... his body being absolutely covered in keloid scars from top to toe, kinda like ShinGoji's keloid scar-like red scales from Shin Godzilla.

So... yeah. Face of a thug is definitely at play here.

He would probably be also wearing a set of all-covering clothing over his body, including a gas mask -perhaps one with a long muzzle in order to fit his snout- for his face if he's outside, especially in a town &/or a city and during the daytime, with these random pics that I took from google imagines and probably other sites that I will might list here for references.

And he would probably later wear one of Sakonji's fox masks if he ever gets the chance to meet him in person properly, probably after clearing up the confusion from the Demon Slaying Corp toward him & his "unique" nature and managing to convince them & get through some of their thicker heads that no he's not dangerous nor would eat humans and yes he's genuinely harmless.

Not to hide he need to hide from the sun mind you since he's already immune to it, but for practical and pragmatic reasonings because.... a big purple scar-covered demon/oni would definitely be an eyesore to see.

Admittingly, the ideas including especially the design & appearance behind Taiyouoni influence this AU prompt. But you do got to admit, it's a cool concept to think and drawl on about.

A Terrified Teacher At Ghoul School Episode 15 Review - Shutendouji

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this episode. The things I like about it and my dislikes about it are honestly balanced. It’s strange how I like an episode, but I also don’t like it. Maybe reviewing a lot of anime for several years has started to affect me… Though, the one thing I am confident about is that Haruaki’s hair antenna is the strongest force in the Yohaji universe. Just look at it!

Let’s start with the things I liked. Mainly, Rintaro fans are eating well and that includes me because he’s one of my favorites. I also ship Haruaki and Rintaro together, so I’m eating extremely well. This episode just solidifies them potentially becoming canon, but given that this is a gag manga, the possibility is only head canon for now. This episode showcased how much of a good person Haruaki is that he doesn’t get angry when Rintaro brings him to his house for ulterior motives, but it ends with them solidifying their bond. It’s so nice to see how much Haruaki loves people, whether they be youkai or not, despite being a loner growing up and having weird fetishes.

It’s also an episode where we learn more about Rintaro in that why he acts the way he does and what caused him to be the way he is. While he is friends with Haruaki, there’s still a wall between them as he doesn’t want to get close to others and doesn’t like getting too close. It’s all because of trauma that happened when he was young in that he brought a human friend but he died due to his mother, the Shutendouji, who ate his spirit energy. This was why he became closed off to others and only opening up his doors for a few people in his life. Though, if you look at the post-credit scene, the kid that he brought was Haruaki. This means that Haruaki and Rintarou have met twice before their official meeting as adults. That’s some odd fate these two have—they’re definitely going to be canon (delusional on my part).

There’s also the introduction of Abe no Seimei, Haruaki’s ancestor. If you see the beginning, you can see two people who look vaguely similar to the principal and Ranmaru Karasuma in background. It’s definitely building up for interesting lore that was only briefly mentioned in previous episodes like Episode 5 where Amaaki mentioned reincarnation and Episode 9 where Ranmaru mistook Haruaki for Seimei. I’m not sure there will be further Seimei lore, but it’s nice to see full confirmation that he is Haruaki’s reincarnation—though, I do wonder where Amaaki comes into play with this lore as Ame and Haru look identical, yet all the spiritual powers are in Haru and not Ame.

The last thing I liked is the introduction of Ibara, Izuna’s wife and Rintaro’s fifth older sister. While Rintaro is stated to be afraid of older women due to his older sisters, it seems that he’s quite close to Ibara. She seems the most rational one in the family as she was reprimanding Rintaro for using a friend and wanted Shutendouji to stop hurting Haruaki because she knows how much her brother cared for him. From their small interactions alone, you can tell that Izuna and Ibara are in a happy marriage and that they love each other very much. I liked how he pushed her out of the way when Shutendouji was about to attack so she wouldn’t get hurt. She’s also strong if she’s able to pull back one of the chains.

What I mainly disliked from this episode was the pacing. This is a mini-arc with three chapters, but it was heavily condensed to squeeze everything into one. I feel like they took out a lot of things, especially important details about Rintaro in order to squeeze everything in. Rintaro only brought a human boy to his home because he complimented how pretty he looked. Not only that, the fast-pacing sort of takes away the serious and suspenseful vibes the arc was supposed to have. Shutendouji doesn’t feel as intimidating as she is supposed to be because of this. The animation quality is also a little rusty in this episode so all the emotional scenes like Haruaki and Rintaro crying don’t feel as impactful as they should be.

For the voice actors, Shutendouji is voiced by Yoshiko Sakakibara, who you might know as Gigan from Yona of the Dawn, Joshu Kasei from Psycho-pass and Gina from Gangsta—she’s quite prolific in a sense. Ibara is voiced by Yuki Tanaka, a relatively new face, but I really like her voice so I hope she gets good roles later on!

Other than that, I do like how everyone played some sort of part in this episode; even Marshmallow and Yanagida played a role! Hopefully, the next arcs they’ll adapt won’t be as butchered as this one, but I seriously doubt it. Regardless, this is definitely an episode for the Rintaro fans. Anyone watching this episode will definitely come out shipping Harumiki. That’s the best part about it. What are your thoughts on this episode?

Though I am hearing that Canva has given people some grief. But Photopea is just *chefs kiss*

If you've ever used photoshop, Photopea is essentially a free photoshop, and it even has the automation tools! An absolute lifesaver when you have multiple layers you want to export (but that's for larger projects not this)

I'm going to assume you have basic knowledge of layers in digital drawing programs for this. If anything isn't clear: ask me, I'll clarify!

Search for official art / images

select a thematic color that is associated with the character

separate the foreground from the background

mess around and test things until they work

Let's Get Crackin'

Alright let's grab some official art so we're not using any fanart without the artist's permission

I try to pick images that feel relevant enough to what I'm trying to make. For example: the image for the Matching banner shows the ASCE tattoo which is super important in that fic

2. Let's arrange them onto a banner where each individual image has the same/similar dimensions to the rest

That's probably part of why you like these. To a certain extent they have similar dimensions, so they have a uniformity that's pleasing to the eye! (It's not perfect because I threw perfectionism to the wind because this is tumblr not my portfolio) Tip: if you have 3 images and only 2 that have similar dimensions, and the 3rd one can't be cropped logically: but the one that's a different aspect ratio in the middle!

3. lets arrange them in such a way that the borders all feel like they're the same/equal width/thickness

you might find that you have to shrink some images for this, that's fine.

ALTERNATIVELY: if you're going with one image crop it so it's just the relevant info and it matches the dimensions (3000 x 1055 px)

We have our base! Now let's add some color, and direct the viewer's eye together!

4. pick out a color that you think matches your character / vibe - that color is going to be your background Given I'm making an Ace banner: orange is the color I'm going with

I went and named my layers for this lol. The numbers represent the opacity, and they aren't important. I just kept changing the opacity until I liked the way things looks. But here's the secret to the 3D feel:

Motionblur (+ moving it about)

Separating the foreground and background and dulling out the background.

I'm going to show you my process so you can see the effects, but first let's give you some quick skills:

magic wand -> select something -> right-click -> select similar This works best when you have high contrast images (like manga panels that are black and white). You can select the black or the white areas. Depending on what works better for you. TIP! Invert selections with ctrl + i Say you know that you want to select everything but Ace's face in the second panel. Select his face with the magic wand then ctrl + i, and that's the only thing NOT selected

TIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please, please, please, duplicate your original image and work on the duplicate layer. This helps you SO much. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TIP! Check your selection tolerance! This could be why too little, or too much is being selected.

Shortcut key: v While the move tool is active, you can nudge the stuff on whatever layer with your arrow keys Shift + arrow key = 10 px move (generally)

!!I IMPORTANT NOTE !!

Please play around with the opacity slider to figure out what opacity works best for you on the multiple different layers we're about to make / work with. It's up to your own style to figure this out. Next: please feel free to not follow all of it. Add more layers, add less layers, take the base principles and go wild! :D

5. Separate the lineart from the background and save it as a new layer 6. Duplicate it and set it to overlay, or set it to overlay immediately

7. Duplicate that lineart layer twice and set the blending mode to overlay 8. lock transparency on the top one and change it to be a dark grey 9. Apply motion blur to both:

Main menu bar -> Filter -> Motion Blur I made it so that the grey layer was blurrier than the black layer

10. More them around a little to give it a "3D effect" as you called it.

It creates shadows under the lines - I was aiming for an effect similar to chromatic aberration (chromatic aberration is a valid way to add punch to your stuff too!)

So this is what things look like now - painful, but let's keep going

11. Duplicate the ORIGINAL / BASE lineart layer, that you DID not apply motion blur to -> set the blend mode to multiply (reduce opacity for it to actually take effect)

okay that's less painful here's what the layers look like right now:

let's bring more focus to Ace's face, and push the background farther away:

12. Use the magic wand tool to quickly select large areas of the faces / focal area / foreground and the lasso tool to refine things

TIP! Hold shift + click -> add to selection Hold Alt + click -> subtract from selection

13. On a new layer with blending mode -> lighten, fill that selection to be white

If you look at it, you'll notice that it is ALREADY starting to draw our attention to his face, but the background is kinda aggressive, so let's dim that down

TIP! Right-click on the gradient tool to find the paint-bucket tool

TIP! Sample All Layers: Turning this option off makes it so that you only work with the content on THAT specific layer. Turning it on makes it so that it is working while taking all other layers into consideration.

14. ctrl + click on the "white foreground" layer to select the contents of that specific layer (pink thing is your mouse)

15. ctrl + i to invert selection and ON A NEW LAYER (layer mode -> multiply) fill that with a complementary color

16. I did one last thing where I took the original base (before we separated the lineart) and added it to the very top and played with the opacity to get something less in your face (layer blend mode was set to NORMAL)

And that's it!

More considerations that I take:

I want the banner to be "thin" or not square, so it doesn't take up too much screen real estate on people's devices

I don't want readers having to scroll too much to get to my writing (which is the whole point of the post, let's not waste their time making them look for things)

I want the banner content to be relevant enough?

ie: with Matching: I wanted the ASCE tattoo to be visible. With matching I wanted Ace to not look too happy in some of them.

I'm also trying to avoid spoilers, I hated getting things spoiled, so I'm trying to be careful that the images I pick don't spoil anything really.

Congrats on starting life on your own! I did that whole living by myself thing too! Tip: keep the pantry stocked with lentils, beans, pastas, baking essentials, rice. They really come in a clutch when you're hungry.

My Favorite New Manga Reads of 2023

For the past few years on twitter, I've made threads of some of my favorite manga and light novel reads from the past year. This year, I decided I would move it over to two tumblr posts.

After the cut are some of my favorite titles that I picked up for the first time in 2023.

Talk to My Back, Yamada Murasaki

I like to pick up something a little more unusual at least once a year and so at the beginning of this year, I picked up this 1980s alt-manga title about the life of a Tokyo housewife played out in short vignettes. It's a frustrating read because of how real it feels and how much it feels like things haven't changed as much in the last 40 years as I'd like, but it's all the more fascinating for it. The essay at the end discussing Yamada Murasaki's work and placing it in context was a nice bonus too.

When a Cat Faces West, Yuki Urushibara

I love Yuki Urushibara's Mushishi (slow though I have been to actually finish it), so when Kodansha announced a license for Urushibara's much shorter series, I was there for it. It has a cool concept - there are areas of "flow" that will pop up out of nowhere and shift people and places out of time and space and one guy has tasked himself with helping people fix issues caused by it - but mostly it feels like Mushishi but set in the present day. I love a series that's just vibes all the way down.

Skip and Loafer, Misaki Takamatsu

I was absolutely smitten with the Skip and Loafer anime, so when it ended with what felt like a pretty definitive "we are not making a second season of this" final episode, I started the manga. A high school slice of life series lives by its characters and Mitsumi is the more adorable dork ever. The other characters are equally delightful, even when I don't necessarily like them, and I'm so eager to dive deeper into their lives.

Associate Professor Akira Takatsuki's Conjecture (light novel), Mikage Sawamura

This series feels a bit like what you'd get if you crossed The Case Files of Jeweler Richard and The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window: a college student with a supernatural ability to hear lies that alienates him from everyone meets a folklore professor with a mysterious past fascinated by mysteries, and together they investigate possibly-supernatural events. It's a bit silly, but the relationship between the leads is interesting and there's a lot of fun urban legends in the mix. There's also a manga adaptation that I haven't yet picked up, but maybe one day...

March Comes in Like a Lion, Chica Umino

I was curious about this one from the second Denpa announced the license just because of how much I'd heard about the series for years now, and it did not disappoint. I love a good story about a depressed and lonely teenage boy sublimating his feelings into an obsession with a uniquely Japanese pastime, especially when there's so many people around him wanting to help him stop being alone. Now I just wish that the release wasn't quite as slow as it has been, even if I know the many reasons why...though at least I still have the anime to rewatch while I wait.

Don't Call It Mystery, Yumi Tamura

After reading Basara and Wild Com, I was eager to get my hands on a newer series by Yumi Tamura, and the fact that it's a modern-day non-fantasy series made it all the more interesting. Totonou's incessant observations about the things going on around him are delightful, especially when they lead him straight into all kinds of dangers or even just leave everyone around him wishing he'd stop talking for about five seconds. I just want to pat him on the head and ask him to make me some curry.

After the Rain, Jun Mayuzuki

I got a card for the Japan Foundation's ebook library not too long ago, which has been great for picking up a lot of books that aren't available in my local library's collection, including this series. I had heard about it but was a bit hesitant because it's about a teenage girl who gets a crush on her much older boss...but hey, why not give it a try from the library? I'm glad I did because there was such a sweet relationship between them that ultimately helped them both out of the ruts they were in with their personal lives and dreams.

River's Edge, Kyoko Okazaki

I still can't decide if I actually enjoy Kyoko Okazaki's work or not, but I got a little closer to it with River's Edge. It's a harsh story about disaffected teenagers who find a dead body, but somehow it feels less depressing than the other works of hers I've read because they're teenagers and there's still the possibility that they can escape the lives that are dragging them down. I will say this - Okazaki's stories are never boring, whether I enjoy them or not.

Her, Tomoko Yamashita

I got a little overambitious this year and ordered the Italian release of a Tomoko Yamashita title I've been wanting to read for years. Can I read Italian? No. Did I think maybe I could figure it out kinda okay because I've studied French and Spanish? Yes. Did I end up reading everything through a translation app? Also yes. But this collection of interconnected stories about women and relationships was excellent despite the language barrier. I was thrilled to finally see the context for the kiss between a younger woman and an elderly woman that I so admired in Yamashita's 15th anniversary artbook, and its story was a touching exploration of what "normal" means. I would love to see this in English, but unfortunately I can't see it getting picked up.

Glitch, Shima Shinya

I was thrilled that Yen Press decided to pick up another title from Shima Shinya after Lost Lad London, and Glitch has been well worth my time. While it is a fantasy story about a town full of glitches in reality that I'm excited to see play out fully, what really caught my eye is the sheer amount of diversity in the characters - one of the leads is nonbinary, there are mixed race characters, there's a lesbian couple, etc. It's all part of the story but not in a didactic way, which I appreciate immensely. Shinya's art also makes me so happy, and I hope Yen continues to get more of their work.

Lilies and Voices Born Upon the Wind, Renmei

Speaking of diversity in characters, I enjoyed this series not only because it was a nice yuri with a motorcycle lesbian (always a bonus in my book, the motorcycle) but because it had some really thoughtful discussion of asexuality in multiple forms. I wish I could've gotten one of the printed copies that were available for purchase at one con, but alas.

Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen, Hiromi Sato & Kamome Shirahama

Did we really need a cooking series spinoff of Witch Hat Atelier? Probably not. Am I glad we got it in English anyway? Absolutely. This is basically an Olruggio/Qifrey slowburn domestic au fanfic and I adore it. And I love that they keep up the conceit about magical ingredients in each chapter's recipe, even though they are legit recipes you can actually make with the real ingredients recommended as substitutions. What Did You Eat Yesterday? but with witches, clearly an ideal combination.

Scribbles, Kaoru Mori

I am not actually a diehard fan of Kaoru Mori's work - I drifted away from A Bride's Story when I ran out of volumes at the library - but I do unabashedly adore her art. Scribbles is just perfect for me with its pages from her sketchbooks and her commentary about things like the ideal skirt tightness. I bought this in hardcover and all and will continue to get the other volumes in hardcover even though I almost always get Yen Press titles digitally because it's so much cheaper that way, that's how much I like it.

Innocent, Shin'ichi Sakamoto

I've had my eye on Shin'ichi Sakamoto's work for a while because I saw a bunch of panels from Innocent on here and fell in love with the art. What I did not expect was that the violently erotic story about a French executioner would actually get an English license. It's gorgeous and violent and weird and I am so here for it. Now, if I could just be sure that Dark Horse actually plans on releasing the whole thing...

Barbarities, Tsuta Suzuki

Much like with Innocent, I saw panels from Barbarities on here ages ago and wished I could read it without much hope, given the lack of other licenses for Tsuta Suzuki's bl since SuBLime's relicense of A Strange & Mystifying Story ages ago. But thankfully I am getting to read this nebulously historical drama with all of its social machinations and pretty men getting flustered by other flirtatious pretty men. And such nice clothes!

A Home Far Away, Teki Yatsuda

Kuma really gets some stellar licenses and A Home Far Away was especially good. Set in 1990s America, it reminded me of nothing so much as My Own Private Idaho crossed with Banana Fish and made me weep absolute buckets in the end. I don't think it's for everyone, but if you were ever an aficionado of depressing 90s queer cinema like I once was, this might be one for you.

À vos cotés [Tonari ni], Basso

I was shocked when the announcement for the French release of this title crossed my twitter timeline earlier this year - France has even less by Natsume Ono than the US does, but one of their publishers managed to get one of her actual bl titles published under her bl penname? So naturally, I had to get it. It's super sweet, about a young man who likes to take photos of horses at a racetrack who meets a much older man, and I swear reading it was just like reading her non-bl work only this time the two characters actually got to say their feelings out loud. This would be a perfect addition to several mainstream US publishers' bl lineup, and I would be the first in line to buy it if they did license it in English.

Dear, My God, Nemui Asada

More by Nemui Asada in English! I love Asada's work for its unique storylines and this one didn't disappoint, with a story about a priest having sex with a cult member to help save him and another story about a guy who ends up with a talking plant. It's a bit disappointing that it's only available on futekiya - when will we get some of these titles in print already?

Ikigami & Donor, Hiko Yamanaka

Hiko Yamanaka is another one whose work is always a bit outside the mold, and Ikigami & Donor is an interesting sci-fi bl about powerful "living gods" who have tremendous abilities but can't heal from injuries without blood, bodily fluids, or tissues from one specific donor. It's a fascinating concept and the way the relationship between one ikigami and his donor played out made for an interesting story. I hope to see more from Yamanaka one day.

I have the sudden urge to Info dump. . . about my favorite trio in TAoL excluding Lillian, Riri and Wild- THE TIME TRIO I have three heroes of Time. Ocarina(OoT Adult); she's the oldest of the trio, being 18, and she's a trans girl and a bisexual disaster- Time(OoT Manga); He's a dumb teenager, being 16(Navi's like "wHaOh LiNk YoU'rE aN aDuLt NoW"- fuck you mean?? He's 16???? Not considered an adult????) not much decided about him yet Mask(OoT Child, MM, HW); My favorite Link- WHO SAID THAT my child. He's the youngest at 11, he's bigender, she's a simp for Green, she's got a cat named Mido, hes a stubborn brat, and probably the most characterized Link- hes also a short and scrawny lil guy but bro is SPEEEED. and she bites. be wary of your ankles They have like. . . a sibling relationship. They balance each other out Mask is sassy, stubborn and a troublemaker, and overall a little shit Ocarina is a bit shy, the responsible one, although the most prone to panicking Time is a bit oblivious, headstrong, and level headed, AND THE ONLY ONE OF THE THREE THAT CAN READ One thing I love about this trio is how nobody expects that the smartest in terms of strategy and battle technique to be Mask this kid can TUMBLE It was a lil headcanon I'd had for a while, but after replaying OoT my headcanon wasn't too far off cause this kid can do a BACKFLIP I'd imagine fighting style wise, Time would prefer closer combat, Ocarina would use a mix of the Goddess Magic and close combat, while Mask would use a style similar to Sheik's in SSBU, being a fast and hard hit-and-run, swapping between close quarters and long range. Mask would probably use handsprings and flips to create distance between herself and the enemy, and I've written her a few times using a move where he pulls a back handspring, and during the rebound he uses her slingshot. When she does fight close quarters, he hits hard and fast, which works with any sword, depending on if he's using the Kokiri Sword, or the sword she uses in HW. She's also small and scrawny, so he's hard to grab and hit. Ocarina is the most skilled with magic of the three, with the Goddess Magic, so using a combination of Din's Fire, Nayru's Love, and Farore's Wind all while fighting close quarters would be her ideal fighting style. If anything, she's the healer/support of the trio- She can cover the other two if they need it via Nayru's Love. Time probably hits hard, and I'd imagine the slowest of the three. Y'know how much slower Wild is when using a claymore in BoTW and ToTK compared to using a standard blade? That's how slow Time is. I'd imagine he'd be more of a glass cannon, so he and Ocarina would stick together during a battle, while Mask causes collateral damage.

You know that art challenge where you and a friend switch paintings every 10 minutes until your done painting, he LOVES doing those. He also just enjoys both of you silently drawing in the same room as eachother. The class fridge is full of you twos drawings.

Anything that has your drawings on it he loves! Once you gave him a sticky note with a quick 15 minute drawing on it and he carries it with him EVERYWHERE! One of the pockets of his hero costume is that sticky notes dedicated pocket! After each drawing he will message your hand to stop any injurys from forming <3

Like Shishida, he just makes sure youre taking care of yourself while drawing or painting. What good is an amazing artist if your sick and cant draw.

She coaxed you into drawing a creepy ghost once and she used her quirk to make it float and chase people around the dorms in the middle of the night. She now keeps that same painting on her wall <3

I really like the idea of using his scales for textures idk why. Like imagine you just drag him away from whatever hes doing, you ask him to cover his arm in scales and you just start painting him yellow. He loves helping tho and if you ran out of room to store things in your room his dorm is always open!

︎This is the first time ever I'm writing to a writer as I'm a lil anxious about my English. But after many years of reading your flawless work (TGSTLTH), I really couldn't hold myself anymore; if I stay silent one more second, I'm going to explode from repressed emotions.XD

I'm absolutely going crazy over your storytelling. I think nobody -and I do mean NOBODY- was this close to perfection with the characterization of Sebastian and Ciel. It's like you are working together with Yana herself. You've really managed to catch every aspect of their relationship that made this whole storyline (manga and anime) the way it's been, which seems to be the entire reason why I still can't get over Kuroshitsuji. It's just so dark and dramatic... the bitter power struggle between these two and the way they compete for control —which is pretty entertaining to see when you think about it because both parties are unable to maintain any type of control or authority over the other.

From what I see, this fandom has mixed feelings about S2 of the anime. Some love it, some ignore its whole existence, and some people are okay with it. Unfortunately, I'm the second one. I like the story arcs that are canon to the manga. When I first started to read TGSTLTH, I really thought that fanfic would follow the storyline without S2 in it since you reflect the complexity of the bond they share as a human and demon so prettily. I've always wondered if Ciel, as-twelve-years-old brat, managed to become Sebastian's living hell, how much of a pain in the ass he would be as he grows older. And the plot has several unresolved mysteries that have not been addressed yet. That's why I'm not a big fan of S2; it closes off all the possible ways this story can go as its ending. However, you are the only one who could warm me up to S2; I trust you.

I read the snippets. It was surprising to see Ciel doubting his appearance. I was questioning whether his look-alike was truly superior or if it was just the circumstances influencing his perception. I feel like it's mainly his fear of not being good enough for Sebastian to stay. Which explains his continuous freak-out about the possibility of his soul being unworthy. And I clearly remember Sebastian thinking, "The boy wasn't nearly as pretty" upon seeing him.

Hi! Please don't worry, your English is absolutely fine! I'm so happy you've been enjoying Those Gentle Slopes so much, and I'm honored that you feel like I did justice to Ciel and Sebastian. They are my favorite characters, and Ciel is probably my most favorite character ever, across all fandoms, so I really treasure the chance to work with them and get such lovely feedback from other readers.

With S2, yes, it created a lot of controversy in the fandom, but also yes, I love it with my whole heart! I always call it a love letter from Sebastian to Ciel. I do have some issues with it, like the exccessive sexualization in general and of Hannah in particular - it feels just awkward sometimes, but the main plot and especially the resolution make me ridiculously happy.

I agree that the bond between a demon and a human is fascinating. I enjoy exploring it a lot, and I so look forward to all the adventures Ciel and Sebastian will have. But I also think that it cannot go on like this forever: even if Ciel got older, sooner or later, something wuld have to give. He'd either die from old age, which would feel like a very underwhelming ending to me, or Sebastian would eat his soul likepromised - but then I'm sure we'd have ended up with the Red Valentine development, where he's lonely, miserable, and missing Ciel. The idea of Ciel becoming a demon in a way that puts such a strain on his relationship with Sebastian - it's like a new life for their bond. So many new conflicts and possibilities could emerge from it - new settings, new events, new power struggles. If you stick around, I really hope you'll like it! And I really appreciate your trust.

And yes, you're absolutely right, Ciel is prettier than his look-alike (at least from how I envision it). Sebastian probably overestimates the difference between them a bit because he's biased in Ciel's favor while Ciel is freaking out because he's been feeling insecure and unworthy for a while at this point, and learning about Sebastian's second contract was just the last blow. These two idiots…

some backstory: android AU serizawa is actually part of an overall post-apocalyptic AU i had intended to complete for an AU Roulette 2023 prompt. unfortunately, i missed the deadline for that this month because i broke my tailbone. unlucky. but deadlines aside -- i'll still get back to it when i'm healed up enough to sit and write, because i NEED THESE THOUGHTS OUT OF MY HEAD IMMEDIATELY.

i wanted to write a post-apocalyptic AU with an iyashikei/healing/hurtcomfort type of feel. ecological collapse but lo-fi girl vibes. yokohama kaidashi kikou / yokohama shopping log is one of my favorite manga of all time and fits the bill exactly, so i was ecstatic to blend two of my favorite things ever.

for the uninitiated, that manga is written in episodic chapters and follows the day-to-day life of a humanoid android named alpha who is abandoned by her owner to run a seaside cafe in post-apocalyptic japan.

(i got excited so this got looooong. more + images under the cut!)

in episodic chapters, alpha interacts with the small collective of people and androids around her, and the narrative follows how humanity adapts to the reality around them, bands together as an inter-generational community, and still lives meaningfully and intentionally -- even in the absence of hope.

(also. i mean. you see the vision here.)

for the fic, i want to mix a good amount of YKK's overall vibe with MP100 canon. like YKK, the fic will be from the POV of serizawa, an advanced and immortal android running a cafe as the tides rise, the infrastructure crumbles, and the people around him continue to relentlessly age.

at the beginning of the fic, serizawa is on year ten of abandonment by his mysterious owner but still holds out hope that The President will return someday despite waning correspondence. in his daily life, he runs an aging rural seaside cafe that few visit (that is, aside from the insistent kurata tome, who would like serizawa's help finding merfolk and other ocean cryptids). he does not go out of his way to make connections with people whom he knows he will ultimately outlive. more than that, he deliberately isolates himself as much as possible to avoid it entirely and passively observes the world around him. he lives as efficiently as possible in a hazy, numb autopilot with no wasted motion and little room for function outside cafe responsibilities, even at the expense of coming off "uncanny" to potential patrons. he even falls into a cosmetic state of disrepair because he doesn't really see the point of his outer shell when it doesn't impede overall functionality. and while he doesn't know the purpose for his creation -- in general, he remains stubbornly committed to directives from an owner who never intended to return.

meanwhile, infrastructure failure displaces much of the human populace in seasoning city with catastrophic flooding and hazardous conditions. reigen -- injured and separated from mob, ritsu, and ekubo in the ensuing chaos, and completely wracked with guilt for his inability to change things -- follows rumors that the brothers survived on a boat to cuticle city and decides to risk the dangerous moped journey across the inhospitable terrain. he ends up literally crashing near the cafe -- where tome finds him and calls in serizawa for help. serizawa treats reigen's injuries, and, because reigen has nowhere else to go and can't continue his journey with a broken hand, allows reigen to stay at the cafe while he recuperates.

there's an inherent friction between the two of them in the early days of this arrangement. reigen's frustration and self-loathing for the present circumstances make him prickly; serizawa tries his utmost to keep his emotional and physical distance. they wrangle with a lot of human & android differences. initially, the more they learn of each other, the less they understand. serizawa calculates the chance of the kageyamas survival as near zero and thinks reigen is irrational for going as far as he does for a rumor -- wasting what little time he has. reigen scoffs at serizawa's misplaced eternal loyalty to an owner who has surely forgotten him entirely at the expense of enjoying his life.

as time passes and reigen works in the cafe, they start to gain an understanding and eventually, an appreciation for one another. reigen's appearance in the community brings in curious customers, which forces serizawa to open up to the idea that cherishing the small moments and departures from his programmed routine might make more meaning out of his immortal existence.

anyway, that's the gist of it! i don't want to give away the ending, but a couple other things in there that i'll highlight -- moped sharing, weird fish, wire and sensor play, trans reigen and android gender????, gratuitous coffee-making descriptions, found family, fireflies, big shirt / small pants, and seri's usb ports are in his mouth :D

-Why SaNa over LuNa and SanPu-

This post is not meant to start any fights because shipping wars are stupid but these are just my personal opinions on why I prefer Sana over Luna and Sanpu (or mostly why I don’t ship Luna and Sanpu because there isn’t a lot of Sana in here)

-LuNa

One main reason I don’t ship Luffy and Nami is because I could never see Luffy settling down. Him getting married or getting with someone I believe would be too restricting for him. Being bound to someone eternally just doesn’t seem like something Luffy would ever do.

The second main reason is just the simple fact of they haven’t shown romantic interest in each other at all. I am very picky when it comes to my ships and I don’t just choose two random friends, the one thing I need is for them to actually have feelings or the possibility of feelings. Even in friends to lovers stories when they were friends there was still a little bit of romantic tension, that is just something I don’t see with Luffy and Nami.

The third main reason and the smallest one is just more of my opinion but I don’t think that Oda is the kind of person to just have the male and female leads then put them together.

Ok finnaly I will be going over evidence Luna shippers use and why I don’t believe it.

In my opinion this is probably the best evidence for Luna but I think it’s just that Luffy is yk obviously king like king of pirates and Nami is like his right hand girl or like the second captian. She is also seen wearing lots of crown because she loves money, plus if you want to use the king and queen thing then we should add Zoro into the mix because he’s “The king of hell”. Overall, pretty solid evidence but I think it’s just Nami being his right hand girl or also weather queen, I just don’t think this suggest anything romantic.

That is probably the one piece of Luna evidence I don’t find completely stupid so here is some other pieces of evidence ranked from stupid to super stupid. Warning: this is a lot of me just roasting luna

Nami wearing the straw hat. This one is just simple, other people have worn the straw hat too. Not even just Roger and Shanks. Like on the crew both Usopp and Robin have worn it so it’s not specific to Nami.

Nami calling out to Luffy and that’s why he awakens. What? This one is just weird plus Luna shippers always like to bring up how their ship is done dirty in the anime yet this was MUCH different in the manga.

Nami looking at Luffy ‘lovingly’. Uhm ok. The term ‘lovingly’ without any blushing or anything is a little much. I think it’s just simply her smiling and posing while looking off lol.

Luffy and Nami looking like parents here. For how weird this one is it is surprisingly brought up a lot. This one again is simple, just Luffy being the main character and Nami’s love for kids.

And finally my least favorite evidence of all. Nami being similar to Rouge or more specifically having flowers in her hair. Huh? First, Nami is nothing like Rouge, Rouge is very calm while Nami is very hot headed. Plus for mostly every character in One Piece looking like Nami and rouge definitely not looking anything like her I don’t think that’s the best piece of evidence. Don’t even get me started when it comes to the flower.

This one will be shorter and more opinionated but even so in my opinion I think that luna is more likely to happen then sanpu.

There is one main reason why I don’t ship or think Sanpu is going to happen and I just think it wipes out any possibility of them being together. That one reason being Nami, Unless you have been watching/reading with your eyes closed then it is painfully obvious that Nami is Sanji’s #1. It’s honestly kinda sad watching people trying to debate this because it’s so clear. Just a few examples there is Sanji always calling Nami’s name first before any other women, Nami being the only person he uses the san honorific on, the only one he asks if she is in love with him and in fan requested cover pages he always adds Sanji simpin for Nami despite her not being in the request but he only adds other women if it is requested. Those of course are just a few examples but I even feel stupid just having to prove that. So if Oda did all to show that Nami is his #1 why would he just turn around and make him be with another women.

The second reason is just their relationship in wci didn’t feel romantic. You could also say I’m biased because around wci was when I started shipping Sanji and Nami so I was kinda just not caring about any other relationship with Sanji but still the scenes in wci didn’t feel romantic. Obviously Pudding had feelings for Sanji but unless I missed something a lot of the affection he was giving back to Pudding was him simping for her body. There wasn’t a lot of him actually complementing her for her, of course it was there but just not very much.

People also just use the fact that Pudding has feelings for Sanji as evidence of why they are going to be together and I think there has to be a little more to it then just her having feelings, I’ve also done some other things about Sanji not ‘actually’ loving other women but that’s a different topic.

-So why sana?

This one is going to be almost completely opinionated. So first I’ll just get out my opinion on ships. I love ships that have a nice amount of evidence to it so I can think about it for a long time but even if it’s canon it’s not canon until the end so I can make little theories about them and yell at my old enemies that I was right the whole time.

Sana is almost completely about the little things of the story, if you watch it not focusing that much then of course you’re not going to see why people ship them. Sana shippers love color spreads and little things in the background of the manga. Once again my preference but I LOVE THE LITTLE THINGS, sometimes of course it can be right in front of your face which again is why some of these things can feel a little out of place while they actually aren’t.

This isn’t meant to be like “If you don’t ship sana then you clearly just aren’t watching/reading hard enough” lol, shipping is all up to preference and you can ship whatever you want to ship. It is just always important to remember that shipping really isn’t that serious and even though I love them and love writing about them it’s not what One Piece is about. (Sorry for most of this just being me insulting Luna and not being about why I ship Sana lol)

Opinions on the parental situations in liar satsuki? On one hand, it’s very pessimistic/realistic in the sense that it’s actually really hard to get rid of bad parents if you don’t have the option of moving out + the parents are more realistically shitty? they’re mad at their kid, want control over their kid, etc?

ive got mixed feelings abt the portrayal satsukis family situation as well as the class reps (sry cant remember her name rn ;;) mostly in the sense that i wish there was more time devoted to rly digging into them. i feel sometimes the narrative comes off as dismissive of abuse or neglect that isnt rooted in the physical.

THAT SAID the portrayal of akiras familial struggles and her backstory in general is one of my favorite aspects of the series. it helps that the question of "should akiras dad have been allowed to live" is one that haunts her and satsukis relationship all throughout the story, but even besides that i find myself really compelled by the way her mother is characterized. ive read a drama manga or two before and i rly expected the resolution to akiras arc to be wrapped up neatly with a "and then it turned out her mom never really wanted to leave her and she loves her so much and now that theyre together everything is fine" type ending, but the reality that akiras mom never wanted to settle down and just isnt a very maternal person in general is in a way more like personally satisfying to me.

i think theres an instinct when u grow up with a shitty parent (whether theyre abusive to the degree akiras dad is or not) to sort of cling to the other parent, or the fantasy of the other parent in the case that theyre not around, regardless of if theyre any more deserving of that affection. its a punch in the gut to watch akira coming to terms with the fact that her mom, while clearly the better and safer of the two and instrumental to getting free of her dads control, isnt really any more of a parent than her dad was. it makes it feel like even more of an emotional triumph when she proclaims to satsuki that she isnt defined by what her dad believes or expects of her, that she has to live for herself regardless of where she came from, because theres definitely a sense that as she says this, its the first time shes really internalized the sentiment.

i feel like even when she truly hated him, the part of living with her dad that weighed heaviest on akira was that there was a part of her that still wanted to understand him and find reason in his actions. even if her situation is far from ideal, it feels very powerful seeing her choose to leave an abusive home, knowing that living with her mom likely wont offer any better protection or guidance, but choosing to go anyway because in doing so she is choosing herself.

it gives a real feeling of "no one came to save you when you needed it, and no one is coming to save you now, but thats okay because now you know what you need to do to save yourself". its emotional shit!

your favorite twilight head cannon and draw it? :)

I have a few related to his design so I'll explain the way I draw him and add some extra headcannons in as a bonus :) [Also read as: I can't pick a favorite HFHFHDKSKI]

Design HC:

His hair is a slightly darker and more red version of Time's hair :D

His eyes also glow sometimes. He thinks it's a Twili thing he got somehow.

He has a tattoo on his right arm(Left arm from our pov) that resembles the Twili markings. It took ages to get it done but he's very happy with it :]

On his left arm(right arm to us) he has a few things that not everyone might notice. On his upper arm/shoulder is a scar from where his arm was cut off [inspired by the manga] and on his wrist is a semi-bloody bandage. The bandage is from the metal cuff on Wolfie. The cuff is a little too tight on him and anytime he's tried to take it of has failed. So even while Hylian, the injury acts up and he has to wrap it to prevent infections on the regular. (This will come up later)

He actually only wears one earing(on his right ear, our left) he put the other one on his wolf pelt because he's a nerd and it makes him laugh.

His wolf pelt is made from his own fur actually! He had a few people help him actually get the fur and put it together but now he has a fluffy hoddie with ears!! It also has a tail and he loves it.

He does have the heroes tunic in his pack but he rarely wears it because he thinks he can only wear it when doing proper Hero stuff. When he met the Chain he was still wearing his usual farm outfit and it just stuck. The tunic is still there but he hasn't brought himself to wear it just yet. (He doesn't really want this journey to end and he thinks that wearing the Hero’s getup will make the journey thing official. And Hero’s Journeys always end)

Yes his gloves are two different sizes. He needs the smaller one so he can see how the bandages are easily. The dark blue fabric wasn't doing him any favors at indicating when he should change them.

Extra HC:

Twi tends to use his crossbow a lot more than he uses his sword. He still uses both a lot but he favors the crossbow anyway.

He's ambidextrous! He started learning how to use his sword with his left hand but learned with the right hand so he'd get better with his balance. After his arm was fucked up (and healed) his left arm was much weaker than before so he tended to switch what arm he was using. Left arm for easier, more predictable fights. Right arm for the more difficult, and large fights(bosses). He finished off Ganondorf with both.

He is the embodiment of a puppy. Not entirely, he is still one of the most responsible and adult of the adult Links. He's just- big on the retriever energy and tends to mimic dog/wolf noises/body language on accident.

His full name is Link Falon. A mix of my person hc for Time, who is Link Goldenfall and Molon Lon. He actually doesn’t know, actively, that Falon is his last name. He knows it subconsciously, (forest spirits are talkative like that) but he hasnt heard it since he showed up in Ordon so it hasn’t stuck with him in a while.

He actually found the Shadow Crystal after Midna shattered the mirror. It was found in the castle throne room, where she fought Ganondorf and was given to him by Zelda/Dusk since he knew how to use it safely. The first time he used it again though, he was stuck as a wolf for three days and kept the strange facial markings on his Hylian form after.

Ever since Wild showed up, he’s felt a weird connection to him. He gets a very strange set of deja vu around him and has these random memories of Wild that he knows he shouldn't remember. Wild’s strange reaction to Wolfie set it off originally; so who knows what will happen if Wild lets him reveal the truth of the matter? He isn’t sure if he wants the answer.

I love the Hylian Ambassador Twilight headcannon too so that's also a thing.

He can also kinda understand animals while Hylian. Not as clearly as while a wolf, but still noticeable. He's befriended every animal in Ordon and Castletown and can understand the cats and dogs the easiest.(mainly because goats are little shits and don't like talking to him at all)
