sometimes i like to think about what their initial conversations with their editors must've been like. i'm sure they made sure they'd watched a ton of deppy's videos and had boned up on the lore so that they could get an intuitive sense of their style, but do you think they were like, "look. people like when we look at eachother, they like when we touch, they like when i smile fondly at phil like he's my little sunshine, they like when we share dumb little stories, they like when we flirt, they like innuendos, so just zoom in whenever you see us being married on main and the rest is gravy"

do you think they asked them to survey the replay spikes on their vids? do you think they felt exposed or is it just more matter of fact by this point in their careers?

#it's just funny to think about them trying to be clinical and professional in describing their whole thing and i'm sure they've had to #do that in a number of work settings over the years. try to explain the je ne sais quoi of their appeal #and their quirky in-joke upon in-joke approach to editing #it did feel more personal when it was just them editing because like. they SO get it. and you could also see what they thought was funny #and see what weird brain synapses were firing for them when they watched themselves back which was fun #but i totally get that the time element was just untenable for a well rounded life #phan #dan and phil #me yapping

Finally catching up on the Horizons episodes I missed 👍

#fluff binges !!!#I've missed out this one and the one from last week that I'll watch once I settle my work for tonight--mainly due from a whirlwind on my en #even if it were just for two weeks I missed these sillies sm 🥺🥺🥺#Diana was finna gonna murder that man you gotta respect that #I think I saw online that not that many people liked this episode because of the main concern that Friede usually saves the day #I do get that though I actually really enjoyed this episode because I think it's one of Roy's best battles (aside from the top one which wa #--the confrontation with the explorers in Diana's hideout)#he got a couple hits in and even thought to send in Wattrel when he realized that he'd get an advantage up in the air which was so so good #the kiddos mainly fumbled this time 'round because they forgot about the foongus/didn't have another mon to counter it #(maybe Hatena could've countered but Liko still needs to learn How to use her in battles--she does want to help though !!! with how she #--moved that shovel on her own - which I thought was a nice lil indicator of a possible battle highlighting her in the future)#I loooved that moment at the end with Diana showing the dude his true self through Bronzor's reflection that was actually very sweet #so yeah it's a simple ep but an enjoyable one - I think people gotta chill with constantly wanting peak sdkjfskndjfs #loads of Horizons content are focused on character moments and a slice of life feeling to everything which is something I love personally #this is a nice breather after the insanity of the last arc methinks hehe #anipoke #pokeani #pokemon horizons #diana pokemon #arcanine

The worst crime a version of Jekyll and Hyde can commit is be unappealing. If you aren’t anticipating the next scene no matter how unpleasant it will be then it has failed.

#one of the easiest ways to make it unappealing is make one of them annoying as fuck which is what tgs does to hyde #unpleasant as he was 31!hyde had me wanting to see more scenes with him even if they were revolting and harrowing to watch #because he was well-written and well-rounded and you could tell there was a twisted logic to what he did #all I could get out of tgs!hyde is ‘jekylls annoying little brother that doesn’t like him and farts on his hand and holds it to his face’#like even when I read and liked the comic I was like……. so when is he going to become compelling?#he never did suffice to say #I never got to see the so-called ‘depth’ of the character the fans yap about because by separating him from jekyll you’re denying him depth #suddenly he’s not a psychosexual reading of jekyll but -again- his annoying little brother that always gets away with petty crimes #you’ve typecast him as THAT which is way less interesting than older adaptations do #as much as I like to see hyde be morally complex I also want him to be acknowledged as an intelligent mature adult #even if a very fucked up and emotionally stunted one #not to mention tgs has influenced the fandom for the worse and now it’s hard to find hyde content that doesn’t paint him as it does:#an annoying little brother figure that is more aggravating than disturbing. an unappealing husk #and like. are you aware of how DIFFICULT it is to make THE Mr Hyde unappealing? uncharming? uninteresting?#and yet. and yet.

I have found a beautiful perfect humble rock specimen that is light yellow with a weird dark yellowy brown lining, somewhat resembling a chunk of smoked gouda cheese... effervescent

#I am still very into trash collecting at the moment and even went out and got one of those grabby sticks for cheap and a little #bucket I can carry around and put trash in. so I am going on walks in nature a bit more (not really to enjoy nature but more to play the #very fun Real Life Hidden Object Point And Click Game that is 'hunt for bottle caps and cans' .. but eh.. whatever gets me out of the #house lol).. anyway.. some nature places near water will have cool rocks #Which I know you're not supposed to take them and I MOSTLY dont.. but every once in a while it's like... when else will I ever find a #gouda rock... I have cleaned up 4 buckets of trash today.. I have helped the environment.. mayhaps.. i could take a One Single Rocke as a #treate... ANYWAY. but yeah. I don't know the names of rocks but there's a rock that's a matte muted marigold yellow sort of #color and I call them 'cheese rock'. I'm pretty sure this one is of the 'cheese rock' species but it just has weird brown coloration #like maybe it got stained or something on one side of it. Most of the other cheese rocks have no markings. though sometimes there will be a #auburn reddish sort of hue on a corner or something.. hrmm.. curious. I also got a Beginner's Hobby rock tumbler and some supplies #so I might try polishing some of the rocks from my enormous rock collection. even though they're all street rocks I picked up from sidewalk #and stuff. I saw a video where someone put random gravel and stuff in a rock tumbler and none of them were Stunning Gems or whatver #but some still turned out cool enough that I would be pleased with the result... OUgh.. I want to post more I need to like do costumes and #sculptures and stuff and be Active On Social Media and think about my Future and Career and how it always benefits artists to keep an #active social media or etc. but I just feel so tired and bad lately. I think the summer heat waves have really exhausted me. I also have #been trying to make new friends + on a weird schedule so I've been socializing and also watching media too much. I notice I always start #to feel this kind of unsettled stress of not making any forward progress in my life if I do that for too long. like 'Okay this week I've #done nothing but meet up with two friends & watch like 10 episodes of tv and only worked on a few projects on the side.. this is HORRIBLE!'#(ppl who follow me here that I talk to on discord: this isn't about you! Im specifically just referencing being tired of introductory talks #with a new round of random strangers during my Friend Hunt. Just clarifying so it couldn't be misinterpreted as vaguepost implying that I'm #secretly bothered by talking to you or etc. lol.. anyway) . Which I know to MOST people 'I talked to a lot of friends and watched some cool #stuff!' sounds like a GOOD relaxing time but.. to me it is not ghhj.. Those are 'external' focuses on things outside myself which bothers #me if not moderated. Like.. i MUST retreat internally to work on my worldbuilding and my own thoughts and etc. at very regular intervals or #it will really start to bear on me too much. Brain Mandated Hermit Isolation lol. Just being too detached from my world and stuff for #too long feels increasingly bad. PLUS. every day I don't make tangible progress towards my goals is a day wasted that I could have been #investing in my future by working on novels/games/sculptures/actual career relevant stuff. Not even in a Capitalism way i just genuinely #enjoy Completing Tasks & feel miserable if I don't for too long. EVEN the media I'm watching I turn into A Task since I rank in a detailed #google doc list after viewing lol.. Like EW movie too boring on it's own. NEED to turn it into something I can categorize and analyze ghghj #LOVE to make things more complicated than they need to be. like YAAAY organizational tasks! yaay meticulous sorting!! oh my god cazador’s legendary action is NASTY i’m never actually attempting true honor mode because i could not possibly survive this in one try

#i’ve died twice…. finally broke my streak of never having to retry a battle more than once #i’m going to bed…. also have to drive halfway across the country tomorrow so idk when i’ll have free time to play some more #i need to keep a cazador death tally #no one stands a chance against the monk except cazador with his stupid legendary action #it’s horrible because my monk always has the highest initiative but they don’t do well taking damage. so i can’t get up close to cazador #to punch him to death #if karlach was able to go before cazador it would be so much easier. because she can take a big hit #every single time i’ve failed the cazador fight karlach has always been the last one standing for several rounds after everyone else has #died and cazador has ascended because she’s just unkillable. and i have to slowly and painfully watch her die #AUGH….#missing my wild magic sorcerer bc he just wild magic-ified cazador into a sheep which prevented him from doing his stupid ritual #my next strategy will be relying heavily on dimension door #no one give me tips i have to figure this shit out myself #i’m enjoying myself greatly i love when strategy games make me want to tear my face off #i still can’t get over how absurdly easy orin’s fight was with my monk. compared to cazador’s insane shit #waaaugh…#yeehaws #bg3

I know that the Imperial system is bad and all but I gotta say. I do really like how it works for sewing

#was watching jan misali's video on the imperial measurement system and thinking.#yes metric system is easier to multiply by 10. but you are not multiplying by 10 when sewing #you are dividing #specifically by two more than once #which gets Real ugly with 10 #but is very nice with 36 and 12 and fractions of an inch #I like being able to divide inches when doing seams instead of having to work in arbitrary numbers of millimeters (too precise)#or numbers of centimeters (not precise enough).#like you got 1'' 5/8'' 1/2'' 3/8'' 1/4'' 1/8''. very directly related to each other. all the precision you need. easy to remember #also easy to standardize for different 'types' of things you're sewing #clothes are 5/8'' or 1/2'' seam. accessories like purses are 1/2'' or 3/8''. quilts are 1/4'' and French seams are 1/8''#and you can remember that and use it when you don't have a pattern to work directly off of #yards and fractional yards are also really nice to work off of when buying fabric. inches turn into fractional yards really really nicely #you can take a 5'4'' measurement for a cloak #which is 64'' just by remembering the multiples of 12 (remember your times tables? i learned those in 3rd grade)#which is 1 and 2/3 yards! very easy to remember and go to the fabric store and buy the right amount of fabric #(though i would round it up to 1 3/4 yards just to be safe)#good Lord 95 percent of this post is in the tags. anyway #my posts #sewing

Bit late now but I think separating classic who and new who would have been a good idea and a bit fairer.

well yeah, but also that would have been kinda less interesting, i've loved watching certain classic companions narrowly gain victories from what i thought would have been obvious nuwho sweeps (thinking especially about the ian/clara match) and also seeing which classic characters have ended up being winning and iconic (hi ian). tbh if there was one thing i'd change going back to the start, it would be not putting four characters from any category through, because that's what made it possible for there to (technically only potentially but probably certainly) be an rtd-only semifinal and final, although that's also in part a problem of assuming equality across nuwho eras and classic who eras as two broad categories, and then splitting every group across the four corners of the bracket rather than, say, putting two rtd characters into two of the semifinal feeders. idk, there's lots of ways it could have been done differently, but the "unfair" results are also part of the interesting bits for me

#especially seeing which results are sweeps and which results are really tight #like every rose round except this semifinal has been so close #to the point where she'd always be losing as i go to bed then in the lead when i wake up #interestingly enough ace is the only one not giving her a real run for her money #that may be to do with the bracket spreading further through that space of the fandom as it gets more followers #maybe it's because more people know ace and can therefore make a decision on it ???#fuck knows tbh #because she's been SWEEPING up until now where it's a confident loss #i will post more analysis stuff after the final i think. there's gonna be a few categories of 'winner' to split things up a bit #i was gonna say that doing a 'classic companions poll' would be unoriginal cos i've seen 2 of those #but there was a broader companions one that was also run #hence the blog description #the thing is tho. nobody ever thought this was in any way a scientific method of assessing popularity or 'quality'#(i'll spare you the rant on the nonexistence of objective quality)#so why not let us see where the bias swings? i've enjoyed watching it at least #seeing different peoples arguments #etc #idk sorry im rambling on a very simple ask. but u get my point. the point being that i have a critical mass of autism.#ask

danger time is fun and not nearly as bad a mechanic as some people like to claim. they're just salty when they lose to it

#crow.txt #like its a really hype mechanic. its fun to watch and tbh never bugged me that much to experience #granted i didnt go to tourneys ever but like #idk. both opponents are given the same things. is it kinda a reaction time game? certainly. but thats like all of fighting games #idk why its so Irredeemably Awful to a lot of players who probably never even play in tourneys they just like regurgitating the same things #repeatedly forever bc its the internet and predominantly reddit #even if the argument is that some matchups are skewed unfairly (like slayer pilebunkering repeatedly) i mean.... yeah? thats like #the fucking crux of fighting games. its not specific to danger time. you can make that argument about literally anything #you could make that argument about certain overdrive mechanics in blazblue #i can see how it would be frustrating in a tourney but if youre getting THAT big mad about losing this specific way then.. man idk #is it that different than being beaten normally. not really #the real unspoken bullshit mechanic is being able to instant kill functionally whenever you want. THATS the tourney killer #its unrealistic in the vast majority of scenarios but like... at least with like every other game. blazblue and unib #you have to EARN it at least a little. yeah the consequences of whiffing are major but also with stun in xrd it can be easier to land #even when someone is a huge dick about astralling me in blazblue i dont get nearly as tilted about it as i would #at getting hit by a bs instant kill setup like first round in xrd. are you kidding me. holy shit #at least astrals have to be match point. you literally Do have to earn it. unib you yourself have to be half dead rather than the opponent #being able to instant kill just Whenever feels so much cheaper #getting off my soapbox for an opinion nobody asked for. even tho strive damage is already crazy insane #danger time was a fun mechanic and idk a danger time mod might be funny. never seen anything quite like it but thats true of a lot of gg #only guy on earth who misses danger time apparently
