Dorym's (yes dorym) attachment and love for Imogen is so unbelievably soft and loving and I'm OBSESSED with it.

Orym has been right there in front of Imogen the entire time. He's been protecting her and supporting her since the very beginning. He heard "she's very capable" and he said "fuck yeah she is". Orym telling her he'd be proud to be her dad. Orym putting all his faith in her despite her fears and her obvious weaknesses (ie not being able to give up on her mother). I wouldn't go as far as to call her his daughter but that's his second best friend and he loves her SO much.

Dorian. Dorian Storm admires and respects the FUCK out of Imogen. They've only gotten closer since his return. I think they see themselves in the other. I think there is a commonality they find in being some of the youngest in the group. This is their first real excursion into the world. They're just now settling into their queer identities. They have strained relationships with their fathers. They love their mothers. They are just constantly supporting and uplifting each other.

And Imogen loves dorym as much as they love her. She cried when Orym told her that he was proud of her. She trusted Orym to keep her secret when she went looking for her mother. She listened to Orym about his family. I truly believe Orym is the reason why Imogen has stayed on this side of the fight. I think, in a worse world, Imogen would have joined up with her mother. Not because she believed any of it. But because whatever the end result is, she would have time with her mother. But knowing and loving Orym she stayed on the right path because of exactly how much hurt and pain her mother helped cause. If she didn't know it. If she didn't see it. She would have been with her mother.

Imogen pulls Dorian into her little "we were being too loud" rouse because on some level I think they both knew that the other was fundamentally unattracted to the other and I think that harbors a solidarity between them. Like not to meme on a meta post but wlw & mlm solidarity at its finest. She teased him when he comes back and when he understands that's what she's doing he grins and says "I've missed you too". And since then they've had this back and forth where they can be a little mean to each other. And they can be a lot sweet to each other. I think they gave each other a sibling. And no. Imogen didn't do that to replace Cyrus. But she wanted a brother. And Dorian wanted a sister.

I don't remember what my thesis was going to be but all of this is to say the dorym & Imogen dynamics mean a lot to me and I love seeing every part of it in action.

Alice: Bisexual with a slight lean toward women. I think before the nerve gas and while she has her thing with Spence, she considers it just experimenting on the side. After, she's like yeah. I'm not straight.

Vaguely unrelated, but I do wanna talk about how I think pre-nerve gas Alice remained detached to avoid things getting in the way of her false marriage/security position. Post-nerve gas Alice falls hard and fast (w/Rain, Carlos, Claire...), but she tries to close herself off because she's afraid of losing them. She does. Rain and Carlos, I mean. Claire lives. How can Alice open up and let herself love when she directly/indirectly causes everyone around her to fucking die? Time to isolate in the desert!

Rain: Like I said in another ask, I can picture her as bi, but I've always written her as a lesbian. There is no universe where I can see her as 100% straight. Her general attitude is "If you don't like me, I don't give a shit," so she's never tried to hide it. Usually just describes herself by saying "I'm into chicks", but not opposed to blatantly calling herself gay or a lesbian.

J.D.: I go back and forth between writing J.D. as gay and bi. I can't decide what I think. Either way, he's closeted. Maybe he's messed around with some dudes in the bedroom, but has never considered a relationship because of that. Rain knows. She walked in on him and saw more than she wanted to, he denied it, but not for long because hey, she's not closted.

And also, she cuts off at one point to tell him she "doesn't give a shit who he fucks", so he can relax. They are MLM and WLW solidarity to me.

Jill: Bisexual. Also true of Game Jill to me. She doesn't really lean one way or the other. Regardless of the gender of who she's dating, she's a bit private when it comes to her relationships, so while she's not necessarily closeted, you probably wouldn't know unless you're close to her.

Terri: ...Also bisexual. Heavy lean toward men. Doesn't even realize she's attracted to women. If confronted with the thought, she'll talk herself out of it. Very "Don't be ridiculous! All women think about other women that way! :)" If she does figure it out, she'll stay closeted or semi-closeted due to fear of how people would react.

K-Mart: Transgender and pansexual. When her bio family is still around, she isn't out and doesn't know what she identifies as, but they ask her if she's gay like she's being interrogated and make her feel like something's wrong with her. The apocalypse is a fresh start. She finds a lot of comfort in using labels. She feels free to be herself in the convoy. They don't know her deadname. She doesn't tell them. They just call her K-Mart because that's where they found her, and they care about her and make her feel loved, so... she's K-Mart now.

Claire: Bisexual with a lean toward men. Also true of Game Claire to me. She's open about it. Figured it out young and was kinda hesitant to tell Chris at first since he's her only family. Older Claire knows that, whatever, her brother will always love her.

...I do think Chris in the games is attracted to men (gay), but I don't feel that as strongly with Movie Chris. Maybe. I probably wouldn't write him as queer myself but I'd easily buy it if someone else did. The same kinda goes for Leon. I feel strongly that Game/WTRC Leon is bi, but Movie Leon feels pretty straight to me.

Good Rain: If you didn't already know, Rain has a heart-shaped pride sticker on her car! I think it's most visible after it flips over and Suburban Alice kicks the door open. Like the person she was cloned from, I think she's a lesbian. I dunno why, but I find it harder to imagine her interested in men than the real Rain. She's out of the closet.

This is sort of a headcanon I'm all over the place with, but since the clone troops are created for work and nothing more, I can picture them falling on different parts of the aro/ace spectrum.

Bad Rain: Rain experiences no romantic attraction and a small amount of sexual attraction. She wouldn't call herself a lesbian, but she wouldn't consider getting in bed with a dude. They're alright to look at sometimes, though. She's never heard any aro/ace terms in her life. Even if she had, she wouldn't call herself those either. What are her preferences? None of your business. Fuck off.

Bad Carlos: Carlos is gray-aromantic, so he might find a woman he's romantically attracted to, but it's rare. He feels basically no sexual attraction at all. Sex is okay. He could probably live without it. He doesn't use the labels. Maybe would call himself asexual if he knew it's a thing?

Bad One: James is as far on the aromantic and asexual spectrum as a person can be before they, like... fall into the repulsed categories. Doesn't know the terms, just says he "doesn't think about those things". Would absolutely not pick up on it if you tried flirting with him, he'd just look at you like : |

Ada: I am a demisexual Ada truther. I think she knows that the way she experiences sexual attraction is "different" so to speak, but has never gone beyond occasionally thinking to herself, "I wonder why I'm like this?"

Wesker: Aroace. This is also true of Game Wesker to me (shocker). He is far on both spectrums and could not give less of a shit. Sex is a waste of time. He has better things he could be doing. He tried it once and was bored. The thought of romance bores him even more. Would maybe refer to himself by both terms. Not in an LGBT way, but exclusively in a... "This is why you shouldn't bother me," kind of way. Does that make sense?

Cobalt & Abigail: Grouping them together because because I have basically the same thoughts about both. Openly lesbian. They came out in their teens. Cobalt vibes more with the term sapphic.

Vance Drew: Asexual. This is the last aspec headcanon, I swear. He'd partake in sexual acts to make his partner happy and show affection, but he never craves those things. Uses the label and only open with partners.

Mikey: Bisexual with a lean toward men. Earlier in the apocalypse, before he met the convoy, he had a boyfriend. He turned. Mikey's confided in Claire and nobody else.

Chase McAvoy: Closeted gay dude. Picked up this headcanon from @chrisitsraining (miss you <3). I haven't formed many thoughts on him beyond that, but it feels right and he seems gay to me in the way Joe Baker does.

I have so many thoughts and also questions about the Alan/Wen relationship so I'm just gonna dump it all here in typical incoherent bullet point style:

First of all I just want to say why do I know these gay people who still live with their ex in real life except they're lesbians agsjdhdjdj mlm/wlw solidarity but in being Messy Bitches I fuckin guess

I'm incredibly interested as to why they haven't told people why they're not together anymore, and also why they have to pretend in front of other people that they're together. I mean it seems pretty significant if even Wen's father who he has a very close relationship to doesn't know the full details of their relationship status, i would think if you had a close relationship with your family they'd be among the first to know about a break up. Gong might know they've split up (I think how nonchalant he was about Wen having a one night stand supports this) but still unclear at this point, maybe he just knows they're having some sort of big conflict or are on a break or something. Maybe there's a social dimension to it? I don't feel i know enough of Thai culture and social conventions to make a confident guess here skdjfskjdf but i would be surprised if there wasn't some sort of reason other than "it's too awkward we don't wanna" - and if there is a reason i'm guessing this is why Wen hasn't been forthcoming about the details of his personal life with Jim, though i really can't guess at this point what that reason might be

so my very first reading of the "i don't love you anymore" "that's a shitty excuse" scene when the trailer dropped was that Wen was maybe trying to break up with Alan but Alan for whatever reason wasn't letting him and you know what i still stand by that or at least like the general sentiment of that. i think it could go either way whether that scene is a flashback (to give context to why they're in such a bad situation now) or present day (to push the development of Wen and Alan's relationship forward); personally i lean toward flashback bc of Wen's emotional state in that scene, he seems much more sad and upset than angry and bitter like he does now with Alan, but i guess we'll find out next week!

I don't have anything resembling an intelligent guess as to what Gong was referring to when he said "you should have asked him if he wanted you to do it" or whatever the phrasing was but I'm guessing whatever happened there is at least a part of the reason why their relationship failed and maybe even a part of the reason why Wen is so cold to Alan now. idk it feels potentially quite big to me, like sure it could have been one isolated incident but based on what we've seen of Alan's character (my guy has some control issues #yikes) it strikes me as possibly being more of a pattern rather than one fuck up though at this point who can really say

Speaking of Gong, I find his friendship with Alan interesting. He claims he doesn't want to take sides or get caught up in the middle of their fight, but I think there are pretty clear signs of whose "side" he's taken: for example in the first episode he doesn't open the message when Alan asks where Wen is so that Alan doesn't know he's seen it and even goes so far as to check with Wen first what he should tell Alan (this does not read as particularly neutral behavior to me, personally); when Alan pointed out they're both friends too and if he really was staying neutral he'd tell Alan what was going on too his response was that Wen was talking with someone and that was all he knew even though he knows they had a one night stand, almost like he went with the bare minimum to get Alan off his back; and his comment at the end of his conversation with Alan of "maybe you should do nothing" felt very pointed esp with accompanying expression. What I'm curious about is why Gong still feels the need to keep up any sort of friendly pretense with Alan. Maybe it's a situation where he knows more than he's supposed to (like if Wen confided in Gong but no one is supposed to know they've broken up for whatever reason)? Or maybe there's some other social dimension to it, idk

Okay so! Some fun canon facts:

Tyland didn't initially have the intention of marrying Elayna! In my head Tyland is bi so like. He kinda figured they could act as each other's cover once he saw her with fem!Aemond and how the two of them interacted. Yes this does mean when they're at each other throats it's mlm and wlw hostility that turns into mlm and wlw solidarity

Elayna and Tyland cannot be together in the same room as Otto. Only one or the other, not both. Mostly because both of them find Otto pretentious, and they will be exchanging looks when Otto says something they think is stupid. Tyland has a little more respect for Otto than Elayna does, but. Not much

Speaking of looks. Since neither of them is big on pda, they've gotten very good at communicating with just a look. Literally they can have conversations by just lifting an eyebrow. Elayna tries to make it a game and see if she can't hold an actual conversation with someone while communicating with Tyland exclusively via facial expressions

Jason hates this btw. Partially because it means someone knows his twin better than him (like that's hard to do) and partially because he's only getting Tyland’s side of the conversation

Tyland’s approach to get Elayna to warm up to him was very much like when you try to get a feral cat to warm up to you. He would steadily start showing up in places she was, and once she got used to his presence he invited her to have lunch with him, which turned into a regular thing

Most of their dates either occur in the library or in the gardens. When they're in the gardens they talk, and a lot of their good ideas come from those long walks where they bounce ideas off each other

Tyland will never admit it but the first time Elayna defended him in front of someone? Hot. And it's not even like the person was particularly nasty, they just asked Elayna why she speaks to him because he seems boring. Elayna didn't tear into the person like she wanted to, but she was Firm so. No one ever asked again

Elayna hasn't necessarily seen/heard Tyland defend her but like. She know he has. He just does it in very subtle ways that like. Unless you know what you're looking for, you're not going to figure out it was Tyland. And Elayna does know what to look out for

Obviously the biggest point of contention in their relationship is Tyland’s family. Not just because Elayna literally hates all of them except for him and Johanna for very valid reasons but also because Tymon, Jason and Tyland’s youngest brother, basically decided he was going to marry Elayna and has not backed down. It's very tense because of this

Tbh there's absolutely a power struggle when it comes to who makes the first move when they realize they're into each other. Because Tyland kinda wants to see if Elayna will crack first but Elayna is determined that Tyland should finally do something himself if he wants her and not manipulate her into making the first move

Both of them absolutely lose their minds when they each have their "oh shit they know me better than anyone else" moments

It's never said outright but like. There's this quiet understanding the plan is for them to stay in KL and not go back to Casterly Rock unless something major changes. And it's for a variety of reasons, not just Elayna not wanting to go back. Like their lives are too tied up in KL, and like. I think they both probably come to the conclusion their kids wouldn't necessarily be better off growing up at the Rock, yk? They could put their kids in an excellent position if they start with them being friends with the Targ kids from a young age

huge shocker - it’s lizzie🥰🥰🥰. i said this in my previous ask on which character i’m most like, and again it’s bc i find her relatable in a way. but other than that i just . idk love her character sm. i love how she tries to act all tough and like her mother but she’s actually just a sweetheart that wants friends and she just misses her mother and her homeland :(. that being said i love her character in the book just a little bit more than the show bc she feels more unhinged and i love it. and u can also properly see her development from wanting to be this isolated powerful queen to finally opening up to others. in the show i feel like it’s such a jump from her screaming Off With Your Head to everything and then spring unsprung she’s suddenly a sweetie that wants to design clothes for her friends. which isn’t necessarily a criticism bc i get that briar helped her realise she doesn’t have to follow her mother exactly, i just prefer how it’s portrayed in the book more. also am obsessed with her character design it’s just . so good.

Listen, there's parts of this that are hard to watch. Bill Maher is here; he says stupid, provocative shit, including some stuff to O'Donnell that's absolutely gross. Christine O'Donnell is an out-and-out Christian nationalist. Clive and Sophie are defending their basic dignity and humanity and O'Donnell is allowed to have the last word, even though the last word is her laughing awkwardly as she fails to find a clobber text in the epistles.

Tbh Agatha's and Billy's arc is also messy to me in the end. Like. I get plot twists, but when Billy's gonna sacrifice himself, Agatha could've just let him or not, and then it's weird for Billy to guilt her 2 seconds after he made the decision, and then if she's gonna be like hey remember I'm manipulative, it's weird for her to switch 2 seconds later. I feel like it just didn't quite sell the final piece in her arc of caring about him, cause they're both being manipulative until that moment? Idk

I don't really think I needed to have watched this show but I did enjoy it and that Lillia ep was killer.

Runaways is still a more sapphic Marvel show, sorry. But prob they have more chemistry in Agatha.

I mean there isn’t much more angsty stuff that didn’t happen on the show. He jumped off a fucking cliff when he was twelve! He watched multiple of his friends be murdered by interdimetional monsters! He watched his best friend (who he’s in love with) be possessed! we all know it, but he’s super fucking depressed. Okay so if you want something not actually canon: after the Byers left, he went to Castle Byers to find some comfort in Will’s spot, only to find it completely torn down. He had been so distracted by Will that night when he found him there that he didn’t notice anything had happened to it, but he puts the pieces together. Since the day they left, he had locked himself in his room but had not let himself cry. But when he saw that he just sat in the ruins and broke down.

😭 A headcanon about the worst thing that happened to them.

I lot of bad shit has happened to him, I don’t think I can choose a single defining thing. Some of the worst things though were probably the trauma from his upbringing, especially with Ted, Will being possessed, El “dying” at the end of s1, and the Byers and El leaving Hawkins.

I think the fact that he and Will literally had a guy die in their arms and buried him and didn’t even make a big deal out of it shows just how fucked they are.

🎶 A headcanon about music

oh my god. Where do I even begin? I would say that he loves alt rock, angsty songs that he can be mad about the world to, but secretly crying a little on the inside. I think he would have started listening to Metallica and black sabbath and stuff because of Eddie’s influence, but he sort of doesn’t like the screaming and stuff in it; it reminds him a bit too much of bad times (and of Eddie after his death). He loves Smalltown Boy (obviously), and Boys Don’t Cry. Maybe sometimes late at night he pulls out his walkman and plays Should I Stay or Should I Go. Sure, it reminds him of Will singing it in the Upside Down, but really it brings back memories of all the times Will had broken out into a huge smile when it had come on on the radio, since he was always too shy to ask to play it.

OOH and he loves Queen. He always buys the tapes in secret because of the names his parents call Freddie and the others, but when he listens to their songs he feels things he base t in a long time. Even though he might not realise it, he is drawn towards music about breaking out of societal expectations and about the need to just be yourself.

he is also unintentionally drawn to queer artists (Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Elton John, etc), maybe because their songs often have those themes of breaking free, maybe because he sees some of himself in them even though he’s not quite sure what.

Okay so I binged q-force. Is it perfect? No. No its not- it's a comedy adult cartoon about gay spies. It was funny, it had that found family trope and it had it good rep. It had butch 4 butch rep (pam and Deb my loves) trans goth chicks, and even an older women in power who I have a permanent lesbian crush on. I see a lot of people complaining about the stereotypes - mostly Twink- but like.... Y'all realize stereotypical gay people exist, right? Like there are butch lesbians who BBQ on weekends and adopt way to many dogs. There are drag queens who are super extra and loud and sexual. There are alt queer people who like obscure shit and would maybe like to fuck robots- shut up

Like ... Gay people are allowed to act gay. Y'all know that right? Gay culture is built on the "weird". Q force gave us stereotypes but also broke them.

Twink is a top who can throw a punch and is fucking badass. His drag connections come in handy and offers them tons of Intel. I've seen people talk about how it's bad that he wants to be skinny but.... Yall know some people Wanna be skinny? And that's not a bad thing??? Like yeah it can be unhealthy but he never once commented on anyone else's weight negatively- and we had a diverse body types. Just in the force we had a muscle vers, a fat stud lesbian, a tall lanky hacker, a slim thicc drag queen, a chubby hunk, and a middle aged woman with actual proportions. Could I have done without some of the tummy tuck jokes? Yeah, sure, but y'all realize actual queens talk like that.

Then we have Deb- the only character with her life together. She and her wife are very very happy and secure and its like... One of the first butch 4 butch relationship I've seen on screen that healthy. She's a mechanic and was on surviver but she's also the mom of the group. She's in touch with her emotions, she rescues dogs, her happy place is on the phone with her wife- she is a black stud lesbian and she's not a cold mean shell of a person. How often do y'all see that????

And then Stat- STAT! she's weird!! And that's the point! She likes being weird!! She's a trans hacker badass and she fucked an AI!! She's herself and unapologetically so. While affection and emotions make her uncomfortable she's still the one to go after Twink on his birthday. She cares about them all, even in her weird goth way. Shes good rep for those of us who are the "ugly alt queer" people love to make fun of. And the force loves her and her weirdness! Her and twink- two characters on complete opposite sides of the stereotype spectrum- are like best friends. They could of had them hate each other but they don't! He loves her and her weird goth vibes, she doesn't understand his scene but loves him and his drag and never says a damn word. Also!! Her VA is a trans woman!!!!

And fucking Steve- he's the cis het ideal. Strong, masc, average gay man. He could pass as straight- but he doesn't?? He has a boyfriend (who isnt some fuckin super model with the same body- he's a shy bear with glasses and a suffocatingly loving family- also!!! No homophobic family side plot???? Unheard of!!!!) and half of his arc is trying to be there For Him. He's not some hyper masc guy who "happens to be gay but everyones surprised" There is no sub plot of him hiding himself or "being seen as het" he's just a vers with a dorky sense of humor and has a little gaggle of gays (plus buck) that he's adopted and co-parenting with his butch lesbian best friend. Also wlw mlm solidarity!!! Holy shit!!!! that's rare!!!!

Even Buck- who's prolly bi let's be real- goes through an arc and isnt a 2D prick- he loves those gays like family by the end. And that's the end message- community in each other and loving your fellow queer people. There's no fighting between them about being a stereotype. No one makes fun on Twink for being femme, every one gets so happy when Stat smiles, Pam and Deb are happily married and Pam automatically takes her wife's little gay family from work and goes "I love them :))) you should bring them over more."

No its not perfect- I wish there was more open trans rep and nb rep, I wish there was some ace aro rep and I wish there was less animated dick and I could do without some if the skinny jokes Twink made but y'all realize rep isn't ever gonna be perfect? Gay ppl aren't perfect. Gay people are allowed to be stereotypes and the amount of LGBTQ people who worked on the show made it realistic.
