Look, I get why people don't like how very few characters in One Piece die. I get it, ok?

But the thing is: how many times have you cried? Much more than the number of significative deaths, right?

Oda doesn't need to kill a character to make you feel lots of emotion and cry. And I think that's beautiful.

Think of Zoro saying he'll never lose again. Nami asking for help. Luffy yelling she is his nakama. Chopper seeing the cherry blossoms. Vivi's farewell. Robin saying she wants to live. Merry's goodbye. Usopp saying he's sorry. Zoro's "nothing happened". Brook playing Binks' Sake. The separation in Sabaody. Jinbei's speech to Luffy after Marineford. Sanji and Luffy's fight. Sanji saying he wants to go back to Sunny. Nami affirming Luffy will be King of Pirates. Sanji asking for Robin's help. Gear 5. Momonosuke and Wano's farewell. Bonney seeing Kuma's memories. It's just so impactful. It doesn't have to kill to be impactful. It just is.
