Beta-Caryophyllene: A Natural Solution for Managing Diabetes-Related Inflammation and Pain
Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects millions of people worldwide, often leading to a host of complications, including inflammation and pain. Managing these symptoms is crucial for improving the quality of life for those with diabetes.
Recent research has highlighted the potential benefits of natural compounds in alleviating these issues, with beta-caryophyllene (BCP) emerging as a promising solution. In this article, we explore the effects of beta-caryophyllene on diabetes-related inflammation and pain, shedding light on its potential as a natural remedy.
Understanding Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP)
Beta-caryophyllene, often abbreviated as BCP, is a naturally occurring compound found in various plants, including black pepper, cloves, and cannabis. It is a type of terpene, a class of compounds responsible for the aroma and flavour of many plants.
What sets BCP apart from other terpenes is its ability to interact with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS), specifically binding to CB2 receptors. This interaction plays a crucial role in regulating inflammation and pain, making BCP a compound of interest for those dealing with diabetes.
Inflammation in Diabetes
Inflammation is a natural response by the body's immune system to injury or infection. However, in chronic conditions like diabetes, inflammation can become persistent and contribute to various complications. Elevated blood sugar levels can trigger an inflammatory response, leading to damage in tissues and organs over time.
This inflammation is a significant factor in the development of diabetes-related complications such as neuropathy, cardiovascular disease, and even kidney damage.
Managing inflammation is, therefore, a key aspect of diabetes care. While conventional treatments often involve the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), these can come with side effects, particularly when used long-term. This is where natural alternatives like beta-caryophyllene come into play.
Beta-Caryophyllene and Its Anti-Inflammatory Effects
BCP has been extensively studied for its anti-inflammatory properties. By binding to CB2 receptors in the ECS, BCP can modulate the immune response, reducing inflammation in the body. This mechanism is particularly relevant for individuals with diabetes, where chronic inflammation is a common concern.
Studies have shown that BCP can help in reducing inflammation markers in the body, potentially lowering the risk of complications associated with diabetes. The β-caryophyllene’s ability to target specific pathways involved in inflammation makes it a powerful ally in managing diabetes-related inflammation.
BCP's Impact on Pain Management
In addition to its anti-inflammatory effects, beta-caryophyllene also holds promise as a natural pain reliever. Diabetes often leads to neuropathic pain, a type of pain that results from nerve damage caused by high blood sugar levels. Traditional pain management strategies for diabetic neuropathy can include medications that may cause side effects or lead to dependency.
BCP offers a natural alternative by interacting with the ECS to alleviate pain. Research indicates that BCP can reduce pain perception by modulating neural pathways. This makes it a potential therapeutic option for individuals with diabetes who suffer from chronic pain.
Beta-Caryophyllene and Blood Sugar Regulation
While the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of BCP are well-documented, there is also evidence to suggest that BCP may have a positive impact on blood sugar regulation. Some studies indicate that beta-caryophyllene may influence glucose metabolism, potentially helping to regulate blood sugar levels.
Although more research is needed to fully understand the beta-caryophyllene blood sugar effects, preliminary findings are promising. This dual action—reducing inflammation and potentially aiding in blood sugar regulation—makes BCP a valuable compound for managing diabetes.
What Is BCP and How Can It Be Used?
BCP is a versatile compound that can be found in various natural sources. It is commonly available in essential oils, dietary supplements, and even as a component of certain foods. For individuals looking to incorporate BCP into their diabetes management routine, there are several options.
Essential Oils: BCP-rich essential oils, such as black pepper or clove oil, can be used in aromatherapy or applied topically to manage pain and inflammation.
Dietary Supplements: BCP supplements are available in capsule form, making it easy to incorporate into a daily wellness routine.
Food Sources: Incorporating BCP-rich foods like black pepper into your diet can provide a natural source of this beneficial compound.
As with any supplement or natural remedy, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting a new regimen, especially for those with diabetes.
Final Thoughts
Beta-caryophyllene offers a natural and promising approach to managing diabetes-related inflammation and pain. Its ability to interact with the endocannabinoid system to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and potentially regulate blood sugar levels makes it a valuable tool in diabetes care. As more research continues to explore the full range of BCP's benefits, it is clear that this compound holds significant potential for improving the lives of those living with diabetes.

hiii could you do the reader and jj diving for the necklace, getting attacked by those guys, and jj goes to get the reader with the group checking up on them and they end up getting the bends, going to the hospital to be put into that chamber and it’s just really cute and soft <3
Hyperbaric Chamber
jj maybank x reader
OBX season 4 SPOILERS
a/n: I was hoping someone would request this! I didn’t know if you wanted smut or not so I didn’t include it but let me know if anyone wants smut in the hyperbaric chamber!
“Look, it’s too dangerous for you to dive alone Im going with you,” you stated.
“You sure?” JJ questioned.
“Yeah I’m sure. It’s not safe. You need a buddy.”
“It’s 80 feet down in the dark.”
“I already decided so,” you replied.
“Okay, that’s that.” JJ spoke.
You and JJ were going to receive an amulet that had been said to break the curse of the Genrettes that’s haunted their family for over 300 years. You were a little nervous but you knew you had JJ with you. You and JJ, plus Pope and John B take the boat out to where Blackbeard’s ship was wrecked.
“Don’t forget your safety stop, all right? Fifteen feet for three minutes. Hear that, JJ? Fifteen feet, three minutes,” Pope reminded you both.
“Copy that.”
“Or what?” you ask.
“The bends, remember? Nitrogen in the blood, excruciating pain, death, et cetera, et cetera.” Pope recites.
JJ looks at you and you can tell he will never forgive himself if something happened to you. “Hey you okay?” He asks.
“Yeah I’m good.”
“Okay.”
“Diver down.”
“Diver down.”
You and JJ put on your gear and fall back into the water. You both turn on your flashlights and swim down into the water. There’s a lot of fish but you finally reach the ship. JJ pushed open a window and you both go through it.
JJ finds the necklace and uses his knife to break it off the wall. Out of nowhere someone attacks you and takes your breathing tube out of your mouth. JJ takes his speargun and thrusts it at the guy, he manages to shank him in the arm.
JJ starts to fight with the guy and the guy ends up locking JJ out. JJ calls out to you, his voice desperate and he bangs on the door. The guy grabs you by the leg and cuts off your tank leaving you with no air. JJ screams for you and you scream for him.
JJ managed to break a hole in the door and he put his arm through and unlocked it. He then urgently gave you his mouth piece to give you some air. He looked down at his monitor and saw that there was only 17 seconds left.
“We gotta go now.” JJ urged.
You finally reached the surface and you both gasped for air.
“You okay?” JJ asked.
“Yeah. That was so close.”
“I know.”
“Who the hell was that down there?” JJ questioned.
“Where’s John B?”
The two of you start yelling for Pope and John B. They hear you and you swim over to them. Pope gets the ladder.
“Y/N, hand me your stuff,” Pope offers.
You let out a groan.
“Wait. Where’s your BCP?” Pope asks.
“It’s gone.”
“What? What do you mean it’s gone?”
“I mean, it’s gone.”
“You all right?”
“Yeah.”
“There was a guy that tried to kill us.” JJ breathed.
“We saw a boat out here too. They were armed. We need to get out of here now,” Pope said urgently.
“No, you don’t understand. There’s a guy down there-“ JJ was cut off.
“There’s a boat. We just saw it pass,” Pope repeats.
John B starts to move the boat and you all sail out of there. Once you all get back to the château John B speaks, “Alright what the hell happened?”
“Someone tried to kill us,” you responded.
“What? Why would someone try to kill you? That doesn’t make sense,” Pope was confused.
“Obviously, they were going after the same thing we were, right?” John B stated.
“My stomach hurts,” you announced.
“Hey, man, did you take your safety stop?” Pope inspects JJ’s eye.
“I’m gonna say it one more time. Someone was trying to kill us. We did not make the safety stop,“ JJ replied.
“They have the bends. We need to get them to the hospital. Now.” Pope says worried.
Everyone hopped in the twinkie and John B drove as fast as he could. You and JJ were moaning and groaning in pain. Sarah told you to take deep breaths.
“Y’all are not going to believe this,” JJ says as he hands the amulet to Sarah.
“You found it?”
“Holy shit.”
After what felt like forever you finally make it to the hospital. Your friends held you up as you walked in. Pope explained that you went diving and you need help.
“Their vitals and mental status is stable, and the pain scale is moving in the right direction, but they still need time in the hyperbaric chamber. They just bought themselves 12 hours in the tank,” the nurse said to John B.
The two of you were in a lot of pain and you were panting as you laid down in the chamber.
“Y/N.”
“Mmm.”
“You almost died. I should’ve never let you go down there,” JJ says with regret.
“Then who would’ve saved your life?” You reasoned.
“I saved you too.”
“Ya know we’re in here for 12 hours,” you began.
“Yeah but there’s no one else I’d rather be in here with,” JJ shared.
“You’re sweet.”
“You’re my whole world you know that? I don’t know what I would’ve done if something happened to you.”
“I’m here J, right here,” You take his hand and hold it as you lay down.
JJ looks at you and then looks at your lips. You scoot closer to him and lean in. JJ cups your face with one hand and places his lips on yours. The kiss was needy but gentle. JJ was relieved to be kissing you. Your lips were crushing together.
You felt warm all over and your stomach was tingling. JJ’s heart was palpitating. JJ’s tongue explored your mouth. You lapped up his mouth. After making out, you took a breath and JJ brushed a strand of hair away from your face.
“My beautiful girl,” JJ whispered as he cradled your face.
“I love you so fucking much,” JJ confessed.
“I love you too.”
“I’m gonna marry you some day. We’re gonna live on the beach and have a bunch of kids. It’s gonna be perfect,” JJ talked to you about your future.
“Sounds like a dream,” you stated.
“It will be. So do you want a small wedding or a big wedding?” JJ asked.
“Hmm maybe something small and intimate. Like just the pogues and family,” you suggested.
“Yeah I like that idea. Where do you want to go for our honeymoon?”
“What about Greece or Italy or Fiji?” You thought out loud.
“Any of those would work for me, as long as i’m with you,” JJ replied.
You rested your forehead on JJ’s forehead and smiled. You spent the rest of your time in the chamber cuddling and talking. It was an experience. You turned out just fine and you had JJ so that was nice.

If The Hat Fits
Dodge Mason x fem!reader
Summary: Dodge shows you what happens when you wear a cowboy’s hat
Warnings: smut with plot, little bit of a marking kink, no use of y/n, unprotected sex but reader could be assumed to be on bcp.
AN: I finally finished this! It has taken me literal minutes to finish this. This is my first time writing smut so we’ll see how it goes. I’m very open to feedback. I recently got back into Panic so hopefully, everyone will like it; let's just ignore any plot or character inconsistencies. I also have no idea how rodeos or anything like that works.
Even though you had grown up in Texas, you had never heard about what happens if you wear a cowboy's hat. You started dating Dodge shortly after he moved to Carp, and it had been going swimmingly ever since.
Today you were meeting Dodge over at the farm at the edge of town where the rodeo is being held later this afternoon. You had never seen Dodge compete, and you were worried because, living in Texas, you always heard about things like this going awry.
Once you got the field (is it considered a field? arena, maybe?) and parted ways with your sweet cowboy, giving him a god luck kiss, you chose a spot along the fence so that you could get the best view of your man.
Finally, after a little while of waiting, everyone came out for the competition.
~Time Skip because I don't know sports~
After the competition was finished, you patiently waited for everyone to congratulate Dodge before you approached him to give him your own congratulations on his achievement.
"Hey there, cowboy. You did pretty well out there." You say as you meander over to Dodge and wrap your arms around his neck.
"Why, thank you. It always helps to have my good luck charm cheering me on." He bends down to pick you up and spin you around. Once he sets you down, you pull him down to kiss you.
"Should we get going?" You ask.
"Yeah, let me go grab my stuff." He responds. Before he can walk away, you grab the hat from his head and put it on your own. Dodge surprises you and doesn't say anything; he gives you a cheeky smile and walks away. As you lean against the fence, waiting on your phone, you see Ray sauntering over to you out of the corner of your eye.
"What do you want, Ray." You say, groaning, ready for the conversation to be over already.
"I see you're wearin' Dodgey boy's hat." He says with his signature smirk.
"Yeah, and?"
"Don't ya know what happens when you wear a cowboy's hat?"
"No," you say, put off, "would you care to enlighten me?"
"Oh boy, I think that I'll let Dodge clear that up for you since he's coming over this way right now," Ray says before walking away to go torment someone else.
"What did the idiot want?" Dodge asks as he meets you and watches Ray walk away.
"Who knows. Something about what happens when you wear a cowboy's hat." You shrug before grabbing Dodge's hand and walking to the car. While walking, you notice the blush starting to creep up Dodge's neck. "Ok, why are you blushing?" You ask, poking his cheek.
"What? No, I'm not." He deflects.
"Oh yes, you are. I can see it right here. Your ears are turning red." you giggle. "Seriously, what is it."
"Oh, you know, it's just the hat thing."
"Ok, what is the "hat thing," though? Ray wouldn't explain it to me, and I have no idea what it is."
"Really? How have you never heard about it? You have lived in Texas your whole life, right?" He says, turning to you in disbelief.
"Yes! Now would you just tell me already!" You turn to him.
"Sure, let's get in the car first, though, alright?" He says, trying to get you into the car.
You go to the passenger side of the car and get in while Dodge does the same on the driver's side.
"Ok, now spill." You say, facing Dodge.
"I still can't believe you've never heard of this." He laughs. "So, supposedly, if you wear a cowboy's hat, you have to ride the cowboy. You know, the whole “save a horse, ride a cowboy” thing?" He blushes again, running his hand over his face and behind his neck.
"God, that makes so much more sense now." You blush, realizing what this means.
"Exactly. Now that you know, do you want to uphold it?"
"Yeah, yeah, I do." You say, taking his hand in yours.
"Well, my sister and mom aren't home today, so do you want to go to my house?"
"Absolutely," you reply, smile beaming off of your face.
Dodge lets go of your hand and begins to drive back to his house as fast as possible, while both of you hope you won't come across any cops and get pulled over. Once you get back to his house Dodge all but drags you out of the car and into the house. As soon as the door closes, you are pressed against it with Dodge at your lips. With passion growing, he continues to kiss you and starts to move the two of you towards his bedroom.
“You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this.” He whispers into your neck as soon as you are in his room and pressed against the door. “Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?” He asks again, just to be sure. (Consent is so sexy)
“Yes, of course,” you breathe, “I want this so bad. I want you.”
Once those words are issued from your lips, it is as if all control Dodge had before is gone. He immediately begins to attack your neck with kisses and love bites.
“Dodge,” you moan, “what’re you doing?”
“If we’re doing this, I wanna do it right and make sure everyone knows that you’re mine.” He replies, making his way down your neck towards your cleavage.
He slowly works his hands up underneath your shirt, feeling the full expanse of your skin and asking permission to take it off. You nod and let out a moan as he leaves a particularly large hickey beneath your collarbone, right where everyone would be able to see. Dodge slowly began to undress you. After breaking your kiss to take your shirt off, Dodge immediately dives back into your lips this time picking you up to set you on his bed. He slowly starts to kiss his way down your body, only stopping to take your bra off and leave more than a few hickeys on your boobs just for him to see. He slowly starts kissing lower this time; kissing all the way down to your belly button but skipping over your shorts to leave love bites on the inside of your thighs. After felling successful in leaving enough marks on you he looks up with is brown doe eyes again.
"I just want to make sure this is still ok with you," he says giving the inside of your thigh one more kiss.
"Yes, absolutely yes," you groan out.
After hearing your need Dodge jumps back up to give your stomach one last kiss before taking your shorts and panties off in one fell swoop. After ridding you of any unwanted barriers Dodge takes advantage of the newly exposed skin to leave a few more hickies, once again, only for his view. Before he can get even more carried away you stop him.
“You know, I find it a little unfair that you haven’t taken off any clothes yet.” You point out, pushing yourself up to your elbows, displeased at Dodge’s state of undress, or lack thereof.
“Would you like me to fix that for you, princess? Or would you like to do the honors?” He asks, standing with a shit-eating grin. You blush in response.
"I would absolutely like to do the honors," you reply, pushing yourself to kneel on the bed. Slowly you start to kiss him again while you unbutton his shirt. Once you get the shirt all the way unbuttoned you push it off of his broad shoulder and down his arms without breaking the kiss. Then you slowly start kissing your way down his body, making sure to leave a few of your own marks in return. Once you get down to his perfectly chiseled v-line you decide to leave Dodge a group of hickeys in the shape of your initial.
"What are you doing?" Dodge questions, peering down.
"Nothing," you giggle, "just leaving you a little surprise."
Dodge just nods as you slowly start unbuttoning his jeans and pull them down. Once his pants and boxers are kicked off by his feet Dodge pulls you back up into another heated hiss.
"Baby, as much as I would love for you to suck me off right now, I think I might burst if I don't get into your cunt right now and besides, you need to prove that you can wear my hat," he whispers into your ear. He pulls back from the kiss and guides you back on to the bed and sits against the headboard. You crawl up the bed to straddle Dodge, leaning in again to kiss him as you start to grind on top of his throbbing member.
"Ugh," he moans, "you're already so wet for me. Practically drenching my cock and I've barely even done anything."
"What can I say, I love to reward my brave cowboy after every rodeo," you whisper, leaving a hickey near his pulse point. You make your way back up to his lips again while taking his throbbing member in your hand and sliding it up with your throbbing cunt. Slowly sinking down onto him you take a moment to adjust to how long his cock is. Both of you sighing as you sheath his full member inside of you and you feel the pressure turn into pleasure. Once you feel ready you start to move, grinding back and forth on Dodge’s dick.
“Ugh,” Dodge grunts out, “sweetheart you feel so good, so warm and soft around me. I’m not sure how long I’m going to last.”
“Dodge, baby, I can feel you so deep inside of me.” you reply, taking his hand from your hip to put it on your stomach so he can feel the slight bump his cock is making. Dodge moans and throws his head back in reaction, giving you the perfect opportunity to keep littering his neck and chest with kisses as you grind onto his cock.
Eventually, your doting boyfriend can tell that your legs are getting tired despite that fact that you are close to coming. He grips your hips with a renewed fervor and helps you alternate grinding with bouncing on his cock. As Dodge starts to get closer you feel his hand tighten on your hips and he buries his head in your neck. You feel the cusp of your orgasm start to approach and you gasp out.
“Yes! Dodge! Right there!” You say, out of breath as your orgasm washes over you. You feel Dodge’s movements still as he pulls you closer and releases inside of you.
“I love you so much sweets,” he moans into your ear, “fuck, that was so good.”
“Well I guess you have Ray to thank for that.” You giggle, placing a few more nips along the expanse of his neck.
“Shut up,” he says as he flips the two of you over and pins your hands above your head. “I don’t know about you, but I think I need to return the favor.” He pushes his already hard cock back into your pussy, wet with arousal and the mixing fluids of your previous orgasms.
“So did I prove that I can wear your hat? Did I successfully save a horse?” You tease in between moans.
Of course you did, and I had no doubt you would be anything less than capable.” Dodge moans out, continuing to languidly thrust into you. “In fact, I think you should wear my hat to school tomorrow and show if these marks so everyone knows that you’re my girl.” He says, leaving a new string of love bites across the top of your cleavage.
“Ah! Dodge!” You giggle, pushing his head away. “Stop it, now you’re just tickling me. Besides, are you sure we can handle the ribbing from Ray; not to mention that then the judges in panic will know how down bad you are for me. Wouldn’t want them using it against you.” You point out as Dodge stills inside of you.
“Babygirl, I have wanted to scream my love for you from the rooftops ever since we started dating. I want every guy in the state of Texas, hell, the world to know that you are taken by me; that we’re together until the end of time.” Dodge says, placing a gentle had on your cheek and staring into your eyes.
“Oh Dodge,” you exclaim, “you mean everything to me, I don’t know what I’d be without you.” You throw your arms around him and pull him into a kiss, subtly moving your hips again to encourage Dodge to start thrusting again.
He takes the signal and quickly find the right tempo for the both of you. Snaking an arm between your bodies he starts rubbing your clit in time with his thrusts, giving you the perfect stimulation to bring you to the precipice quicker than before. You pull him closer to you, your nails leaving marks along his back as you tumble over the edge. Dodge makes sure to cum at the same time as you and lets his body weight rest in too of you once you both are spent.
“Why don’t I get you cleaned up and make some snack so we can have a night in tonight. My mom and Dana are out of town for one of her appointments so you could stay the night and I could take you to school tomorrow.” Dodge suggests, slowly pulling out of you and moseying over to the bathroom.
“That sounds perfect,” you reply, turning over to face him. “I love you, you know that?”
“Of course I do,” he replies, coming back with a warm washcloth, “I know because I love you with every fiber of my being. Now get comfy because I’ll be right back with snack and my laptop so we can watch our show.” Dodge disappears into the hallway and presumably into the kitchen to make a snack. You fluff the pillows behind yourself and nestle yourself down in the covers, content to wait for your adorning boyfriend to come back so you can cuddle into his side and relax for the evening.

Okay question: how much pain is "normal" for period cramps? I know what I had before birth control was def abnormal (first day or 2 of my period I was basically bound to my bed, either curled up and experiencing an extremely pain "flash" of pain every 15 minutes because I wasn't on my back or a high amount of pain because I was on my back with few "flashes" of pain) but now I'm on bcps there is very little pain? It's usually just pressure unless I've been stressed (glares at my RA job) but idk if that's abnormal or not.
(When I mentioned my extreme pain, my friend with endometriosis was like "have you considered endometriosis?" while my other friend was like "have you considered PCOS?" lol I love (/pla) them both but idk guys)
Answer: I'm really bad at pain "ranges", so take this with an extreme pinch of salt!
It's hard to define generally but I'd say anything from "Oh that feels kinda bad" to "Ugh, this is annoying" is in the normal range. But if it's keeping you bedbound or debilitating you in any manner (or even if it's just extreme pain that you can "handle"), that's not in an appropriate range!
You want your period to be as painless as possible, so its great you're feeling less pain now, even if stress aggravates it. (Stress commonly aggravates menstrual pain, so that's fairly standard.) Birth control is also known [and commonly used] to help with menstrual pain, so its good you're on that and its helping! That's fairly standard as well.
Your extreme pain was not in an appropriate range, I can tell you that. That's the type of pain you should be getting checked out for and probably going on something, if you can [which you did!]. Endometriosis and PCOS are actually fairly common causes of pain like that, so your friends are definitely in the right range, I'm thinking.
It's actually still worth getting checked out, if you have the resources, because with things like that it is good to know what specifically is causing it if you can. (Mostly because sometimes you need to be on something as well as birth control or besides birth control to get to the actual root issue.)
Not sure if this helps (because I'm so bad at pain ranges T_T) but I hope so! Let me know if you have any other questions, or if I need to explain further on any of this. <3

Hi! I’ve been religious my whole life, but I’ve been feeling the urge to become more dedicated lately. I pray most nights (sometimes I forget) and I feel I have room in my heart and life for Jesus. I was wondering if you have any tips for ways to incorporate faith into your life in more tangible ways? Like, ways that are harder to forget. Like a prayer book or anything like that. Little ways, you know?
I’m sorry if this was too vague!! I can elaborate if it’s helpful.
hey anon!
that’s so lovely, i’m so glad to hear it, and it sounds like you’ve got amazing practices already. if forgetting is an issue (definitely was for me), it’ll definitely get easier with routine as you build a habit, and also as you grow your relationship with God it’ll become something you feel that longing to do, so you’ll forget less. for now, reminders could definitely help if praying every day is a practice you want to start.
i’ll answer this as non-denominationally as i can - also as i’m anglocatholic i'm a lot more varied in my practices, so take what you want and what works for your faith, and don’t worry if something doesn’t work at all!
in terms of daily prayer, i would really recommend the book of common prayer! different denominations use different editions - i go to a church of england church, so i use the same BCP edition as the cofe, which is the 1662 version, for example. that version, and a contemporary version, can be found in an app called ‘daily prayer’, as well as on the cofe website, and i’m sure other places. apps and websites like that find things like the psalms, lessons, and collects for you, otherwise you can use a physical or digital bcp alongside a bible, lectionary, and collect book to find the appropriate things to put in. it sounds complicated but if you start with an app or website that does it for you you’ll understand quickly! i like to read the psalms and readings from my bible, just using the app to find them, because it feels best for me. eventually i’ll graduate to using a physical bcp book when im brave enough! if you’d like more info on praying the daily office using the bcp or other material lmk bc i spent ages researching trying to understand how to pray with it :)
another thing i do is keeping a bible on me 99% of the time. as i used to go to an anglican school, we received the new testament and psalms when we started secondary school in a tiny little book, which is super easy to carry around.
if you’d like to incorporate prayer into your life more generally, i’d suggest improving your instinct to turn to god. one thing i’ve always struggled with is blaspheming, always going ‘oh my god!’ whenever something went wrong. i saw a really good tip (please shout anyone if you know who said this!) that suggested to turn any ‘oh my god’ etc of anger into a genuine prayer. instead of frustration and blasphemy, use that opportunity and reminder of Him to pray for the situation that is aggravating you. another thing is crossing yourself whenever feels right - maybe if you need support, or are struggling, or want to make a quick prayer for a passing ambulance etc. it’s a nice habit to be in.
i also learnt some short psalms, or declarations of faith like the Nicene creed and Apostles creed. these are quite soothing and if you’re in a difficult situation and need a second to calm down, just quietly reciting a psalm is a prayer to god, gives you the space and time to calm down while focusing on something else, and use His Word.
the other thing if you’re more catholic leaning could be a rosary! if you’re not catholic and a little uncomfy with the hail mary’s, swap them out for a creed, the lord’s prayer, or the jesus prayer, or something else. sometimes i pray the catholic rosary, other times my own version using the creeds, the lord’s prayer, glory be’s, and the jesus prayer, using the same method as the catholic rosary. otherwise you can make a shorter rosary. it’s a nice physical reminder that you can carry with you, or just do in your head.
a cross, crucifix, medal, or other religious necklace is also a nice reminder. it reminds me of my faith, my commitments, and i also hope that it’s a message to others that i am a safe loving person who they can turn to in times of need, although not sure that’s what people take from it now unfortunately :(
that’s all i can think of for now, but do get in touch again if you have any questions! i'll be praying for you.
may the Lord bless you and keep you x

Including PCOS having people is a dividing issue for the intersex community apparently
I am AFAB. I quite like having tits and a vagina. I have hirsutism and zero periods without a bcp, and a body that felt like it betrayed me for a longass time. In my teens and 20s i had a lot of gender dysphoria, which felt really strange and uncomfortable to me, to be feeling the same thing mtf trans people were feeling (they were the only type of trans people in the media that i was exposed to)
I realised, when i realised i was bi, a lot of my identity issues went away almost immediately. It became a who-cares deal for me 20 min after me realising im queer. It's strange to say that it was freeing for me, after being raised new testament pentecostal, where i didnt actively feel like i was hiding. Religiously i didnt feel it, but it did overlap into the social aspect, where i felt it through sex, gender identity ,and gender expression.
PCOS made it so i never had a period for long stretches of time, until eventually without a bcp, i'd never have one. At one point, i'd go for 9 months without a period. I went for an x-ray and had to tell the tech when my last period was. 9 months. And i'm wearing the uniform for a prestigious secondary school. (I wasn't pregnant, i just have a shit body)
I largely kept to myself and never made additional connections with people, and romance was out of my head (for a lot of reasons, but this was one). i hated to show my face anywhere (difficult). I tried so hard to be feminine like i was as a child, and when i saw i couldnt i went the other direction. It was exhausting. I stopped. But i still kept largely to myself. But i kept trying to overcorrect this mistake. Im not a trans woman, i'm cis, so why do i feel like this? Why is this the way i feel? Why do i look like this?
I remember my mother asking me why i need to have birth control if im not having sex, and i'm not going to, cuz i don't have a bf. I told i feel like i need to to feel like a woman. She laughed at me. That was a stupid reason and it's a waste of time. I left it alone after that. For the rest of my 20s the same questions kept coming up, along with my (weak) rebuttal. I'm not trans, i'm cis. I just have a shit uterus.
In 2020 during lockdown, with no customer service work, and a lot of time on queer tiktok, i finally brought back up the question of my sex and gender identity and expression.
I remember a tiktok user saying they see themselves as intersex because of their pcos diagnosis. Its been like 4 years so details are lost, but from what i remember, because hormonally their body doesn't do what afab bodies are expected to do, they consider themself intersex. I played around with the idea but intersex as a label isn't mine.
I'm still consider myself pretty femme. In tastes and expression. But. There is a BUT.
As i say, I don't consider myself intersex. For physical or hormonal traits that i have. I don't think the label fits for me at all. It may for some people. That's okay, and i'm happy there are people in the intersex community accepting and welcoming PCOS havers with them.
I mentioned a BUT.
I can't see myself as intersex or trans.
I do like my default body.
I sometimes feel like i can have more. Not different parts, additional parts. But not all the time. Just sometimes.
I'm girl, I'm more than girl, i'm less than girl. I am nowhere boy. I can't fully take the trans label. Like, i can, conceivably, it's alright. But no. Not mine.
By definition, genderflux. It's a dimmer switch and for the most part i'm happy in the middle with a circumstantial need in either direction.
By the way it feels in my mouth, Genderfluid sounds better.
By vibes though, i'm sticking with genderqueer. I know what i am, i just can't describe it to myself, leastways to the world.
You don't have to think of yourself as intersex just because you have PCOS. But if you do, i'm grateful to the community that accepts you. At the end of the day, the human body is a strange thing. You may share situations or symptoms with somebody. Remember nothing is a unique experience, no matter how it feels. It's nice to have a community for support.
Just. Be kind.
We're all kinds of fucked up. That's why we're together.

it's unfortunate that scholarship about Darija literacy is thin enough on the ground that reading a PhD dissertation (as a result of another text that cited this dissertation) is a perfectly reasonable thing to do (like, as opposed to only consulting published works)—
because I can tell that this was sort of written to fulfill the qualifications for the degree, rather than to really contribute to the field as a whole. in one chapter, for example, Hall gives a literature review of the extant scholarship on code switching, text messaging, and especially text messaging in North Africa, and then gives an overview of a few things she noticed in the corpus of Latin alphabet text messages that her connexions gave her access to—
and then ends the chapter. she doesn't theorise her observations, or explain at length what implications they might have for our understanding of code switching more generally, or any other more broadly debated or theorised sociolinguistic question. she doesn't produce the corpus itself in an index (understandable, for reasons of privacy?), or do the scan that linguists usually do where they'll provide a translation at the level of the morpheme, one at the level of the word, and another at the level of the sentence, so that other linguists can follow what's happening grammatically. in fact a few of her translations are sort of bad and incomprehensible, because she tries to make the word-for-word literal translation stand in for the sentence-level translation of the whole utterance and as a result produces things that are not understandable to an English speaker.
so none of her data is necessarily accessible to anyone who doesn't speak Tashelhit (a variety of Tamazight), Darija, English, and French. nevertheless I can still see interesting observations to draw that she leaves on the table—for example she points out that "these text messages use abbreviations" and that English and French were more commonly abbreviated than Darija and Tashelhit, and reports the texters' explanation that this was because Darija and Tashelhit don't have a standard written form and so an abbreviation could be more confusing.
interestingly, though, the abbreviations they used in English were not the texting abbreviations that I would consider 'standard' in English, either in texting (especially during the years before cell phones had full keyboards) or online! one message reads:
I receivd ur nice card, thanks. Its up t us t do such a nice gesture.. Anyway, w/all mis u, always at our tongues, in our minds. Nxt time u mst com t Fac t see u. bye…
["Fac" from French "faculté," common casual term for "campus" in written and spoken French]
Hall describes this message as "peppered with the distinctive features that Crystal identifies as characteristic of text messages in English including initialisms, omitted letters, nonstandard spellings and shortenings" (p. 139) and leaves it at that.
but surely it matters which letters are omitted and which nonstandard spellings are used? 'standard' English textspeak (if such a generalisation can be permitted) uses "w/" to mean "with," not "we." "t" is not an abbreviation I've ever seen for "to"—you'd be more likely to come across "2." "ur" and "u" for "your" and "you," respectively, and "Its" for "it's," are much more familiar to me.
in others of the nine text messages whose text she produces I see some of the abbreviations I expect in French (& my sense is that these are more frequently used than abbreviations for English words online)—"slt" for "salut," "bcp" for "beaucoup," "jtm" for "je t'aime," "a+" for "à plus [tard]". also "mé" for "mais," which at least I have never seen before? unsure if other common ones ("qqun" for "quelqu'un," "j" for "j'ai," "tt" for "tout," &c.) occur because, again, she only produces nine text messages total.
so to what extent do text abbreviations arise spontaneously and to what extent are they common to communities of practice / speech communities? do the four speakers in the corpus use these abbreviations consistently throughout their texts, or do they seem more 'random'? do any of the speakers use some abbreviations or spellings that the other speakers do not use? what does this mean for the relationship between orthography and community / group identity in small groups who have to get creative with their writing (i.e. because they're sending messages in limited-character formats, often in languages without standardised writing systems)?
this was my first line of thinking here, but, to be far, Hall is focused on the writing of Darija. so is the Darija orthography standard across the corpus? across one speaker over time? do any of the speakers seem to borrow spellings from others? what does the orthography say about their language ideology (like, "lkhobz" is written for something which in standard Arabic would be "الخبز" alkhobz, "al" "the" and "khobz" "bread," with the "l" pronounced since "kh," the voiceless velar fricative at the beginning of "Hannukah," isn't one of the sounds that makes it silent—but the writer does not write "alkhobz" or "al-khobz" or "el khobz" or anything else that would point to the standard Arabic "al." they drop the "a" and thus reference Moroccan phonology rather than the Arabic orthography)?
maybe none of these things are the exact thing that Hall wanted to get at (she opens her dissertation with a lit review on 'language ideology' and 'fractal recursivity' [roughly, differences between language ideologies in different domains and contexts as a result of ideological disjuncture, such as being confronted with a written version of a language which you believe should not be written].) I guess what I'm missing is something that seems like it ties the analysis of the data to the literature, rather than the literature reviews sort of seeming like they're there so she can prove she knows the current state of the field (& the prevalence of the latter approach is a problem with, like, the entire structure of academia, not just Hall). or speculation about the implications of her observations for the field at large, rather than just pulling up a text when it on the surface agrees with what she observes. as it is, the chapter left me with the feeling of "oh... that's it?"

Poly-techhic picrews
Inspired by the fish writer, I decided to share the picrews I made of the Poly-techhic girls back when I first started writing them. I think they're still pretty accurate to how I picture them (though obviously they're broad strokes. AKA, ignore how the skin and hair tones don't match right in some of them.)
The two Picrews I used are Black Centered Picrew <3 by naylissah and BCP by...oh, also by naylissah. Cool!
Susanna Butler
Seen here with her hood uncharacteristically lowered.
Olivia E. Jones
Seen here happy and having a perfectly good time.
Maya Heffernan
Seen here briefly holding still.
Kiran Mandal
Seen here in a moment of relative lack of anxiety.
(The hand in the second one is half of a heart, but I kind of meant for it to represent her hands twisting into weird shapes sometimes when she stims)
And just for funzies...
Here's a height chart I made with this website, using silhouettes in the range of what I think their actual silhouettes would look like.
#non kink content#Poly-techhic#Picrews and height charts#Obviously if you see them differently that's fine#But these are the general broad strokes#Not sure if putting them in ascending height order was the right call or if I should have kept them in the order of the post.

I see so many Queer Christians walking very synergistic paths, but I want to share that I ended up taking my adopted tradition’s Reformed heritage far beyond what many would deem truly Reformed.
I moved to The Episcopal Church from lapsed Catholicism because I thought it was similar in the right ways. The differences ended up being more significant.
I say with the Articles that do not bind me that “We are accounted righteous before God, only for the merit of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”, that “Predestination to Life is the everlasting purpose of God”, and that we are saved not “by the Law or Sect” we profess, but “by the Name of Christ”.
My heart says, with the 1979 BCP, that I worship “one perfect sacrifice for the whole world”.
God has set me to peace in my casualness, my empty faith in his full omnipotence.
I no longer fear my own fate, because I am granted assurance on behalf of my enemies.
I do not hope to be saved; I know that I am.
Edit: to be clear, every doctrine I listed is shared by the Catholic Faith. I simply found it through Reformed Theology.

HIIIIIII DARLING!!!! Indulge me:
14. What is your favorite location and position to write in?
18. Do you enjoy research? Which fic of yours required the most research?
23. Is writing the beginning, middle, or end of the story easiest? Hardest?
Pleeeeeease 💖💖
BONSOIR LIQUIDE MERCI BCP!!
14. What is your favorite location and position to write in? lately being like partially reclined in bed with my laptop has been hitting real nice. most often i tend to be writing at my desk at work which is also fine and where i'm most upright for it?? but for example right now i am in bed. blinds open. experiencing sunlight and also blankies.
18. Do you enjoy research? Which fic of yours required the most research? i do enjoy research but boy do i go down rabbitholes! none of my currently posted fics actually required any research except for hot in it, where i still had the bottle service menu for hakkasan open for like three weeks after i'd finished writing lmAO. but a couple of years ago for nanowrimo i was writing this excessively large dragon age au for a diff fandom and filled an entire notebook with lore notes and maps and travel times. deeply extra and probably unnecessary but also very fun
23. Is writing the beginning, middle, or end of the story easiest? Hardest? MANNNNN it depends on the fic i guess??? middle is probably the easiest if i've got a vibe or vision, beginnings are alright?? like sometimes there's an opening line and you're like hell yeah here we go! but also sometimes an opening scene is like eating rocks. same with an ending scene. it's really situational, i guess but endings are probably the hardest overall. like having to wrap up a whole thing with a line that feels at least somewhat satisfying............. i've lost years of life to end-lines
fic writer asks :)
