10 House Democrats voted alongside Republicans to censure Green for his behavior during Trump's joint address to Congress

House Speaker Mike Johnson said Democrats have been left "embarrassed" by Rep. Al Green's behavior after the House voted Thursday to censure the Texas congressman for disrupting President Donald Trump's joint address to Congress.

Johnson joined "America's Newsroom" after the vote to punish the lawmaker for his "disgusting" behavior during Trump's speech to the House chamber.

"This is a really sad day for our institution," Johnson told Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino. "What Representative Al Green did in the midst of the president's speech as our honored guest to the chamber was disrupted. He did it intentionally, as everyone saw. I gave him plenty of warnings and he refused. It was a deliberate action. It needed to be met with swift punishment. That's the tradition of this place to maintain decorum, and so that's what we just did."

I found the scene of Fan Xian and Fan Jian jumping around with the discipline ruler and putting on the anger/punishment act very entertaining, but I just saw someone’s comment that like “Fan Jian knows he can’t hit him” and that made me pause. Can Fan Jian get away with flogging Fan Xian (the emperor’s biological son) if he wants to? How much of his approach to parenting Fan Xian is down to him being well aware that the emperor is looking over his metaphorical shoulder?

One thing about 87!Donatello's occasional desire to be a normal turtle is, it's worrying, but it's not suicide adjacent the way it would be for any other Donatello.

The context in which he starts to think about it is one where they've pursued a newly mutated sumo gerbil (yes, seriously) back to the petshop where it was trying to break in so it could "go home". When the unstable mutation wears off it's happy to be shut back in its cage and Donatello thinks he recognises the petshop as the one where the turtles were originally sold.

For the gerbil being given sudden sapience isn't a gift or the beginning of its existence as a person, it's a weird and scary thing that left it adrift in a world it didn't understand and that didn't understand it. Having it wear off is a happy ending. After all, if a human was turned into a dragon and given massively expanded intelligence, a thousand year lifespan, and the power of flight and fire, but still wanted to go back to being human that would be understandable.

Donatello remembers being a turtle - his sense of his own identity doesn't start with sapience - so seeing another animal unmutate and be happy when he's unhappy with nearly but not quite fitting into the human world makes him thoughtful.

There's still a lot he does and enjoys that a turtle couldn't do! And most of the time (such as when being threatened with de-mutation by Shredder) he doesn't want to go back to being a helpless turtle. But there is that lingering feeling that he might fit into the world better (and be liked by humans better) if he was simply a turtle they could keep as a pet.

The House voted Thursday to censure Rep. Al Green for his protest during President Donald Trump’s address to Congress, with 10 Democrats joining House Republicans in condemning the Texas Democrat’s actions.

Green, 77, disrupted Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night, prompting House Speaker Mike Johnson to remove the lawmaker from the chamber.

“I have no ill feelings toward the speaker, none toward the persons that escorted me away from the floor, because I did disrupt. And I did so because the president indicated that he had a mandate. And I wanted him to know that he didn’t have a mandate to cut Medicaid,” Green said in a speech on the House floor Thursday, following his censure.

She does not! I hc that the Mourn Watch has tomb cats to control any rat populations, but those belong collectively to the watch and not her. After the events of the game, I like to imagine that she gets a ridiculous little cairn terrier to run around with her. Actually. Now that I have typed that, I have a really devastating fic idea about her receiving a dog as a gift. So thank you!!

Lenore and her roommate, Edeline, had a very unhealthy relationship for most of the two years they lived together. By the end of it, Edeline had stolen her work enough times that Lenore was often writing decoy essays to hide in her desk, completing factually false projects to leave in the open, and avoiding Edeline during her lab hours.

Because she stole one such report and was incapable of defending her faulty results in front of a panel of professors, Edeline was not accepted into the ranks of the Mourn Watch. Lenore broke things off the day she moved out, Edeline was stationed elsewhere in Nevarra as a mortalitasi, and the two never spoke again.
