Other information: Remember how Scooter left the managing business to be CEO of HYBE America? Turns out HYBE acquired TAG PR (the agency I mentioned earlier where he's a majority stakeholder) and proceeded to get involved in chart and album manipulation for their artists as well as leaking emails and texts to attempt defamation for competitors (there are tweets with evidence but I'm too tired to link each one rn).

I now fully believe Scooter leaked all of these because this article says "According to MBW’s watertight sources – who were directly involved in negotiating the deal" and I suspected that when it came out because it had more details about his side compared to hers, but now I feel like this is his MO. And it may have been his attempt to gain more credibility for that Bad Blood documentary about him and Taylor.

I also think based on all this info that it's time to go is partly about Taylor's dad because he got $15 million out of the sale, a very specific number. I think he knew about the details of the sale (he and another guy voted no according to the leaks) and didn't tell her until afterward due to the legalities, which broke her heart further. He also allegedly had an affair with her previous publicist, hence the friends line, which reads to me like he tried to hide it from her. I feel like his emails might also fit into this whole thing but it's late and I'm too tired to read through them to check.

Anyway, the ending of the song echoes Daylight, which is about letting things go, this one is about leaving things behind, and both songs mention 20 years too. Maybe how long the marriage lasted between her parents? I dunno, I know the public info mentions separation in 2011, but given the content of that email it may have happened earlier imho.

The scooter stuff i lightly knew about? I have a friend into kpop who talks me thru hybe entertainment and its evil workings whenever we're chatting kpop and I remember hearing that scooter braun was involved w them bc hes so totally always at the scene of the crime. Hes a famous asshole and i dont put any underhanded tactics past him, he really did just underestimate what taylor is willing to do when shes desperate and truly pissed off.

the dad stuff i really cant talk to much, it definitely seems like a really complicated situation. I mean andrea and scott being divorced but both being close to taylor and her career is a whole thing by itself in that they have to spend an insane amount of time together for a divorced couple. Scott has always had caring but republican dad energies, I believe that him and taylor are close and that they love each other, but I also believe it is endlessly complicated for endless reasons (hes almost definitely a misogynist and probably holds many conservative views, the divorce and the issues leading up to it definitely left a mark on taylor emotionally, he is literally a financial stakeholder in her career which is batshit insane to be honest). He's hard to really discuss because even if he isnt Andrea he's still deeply entrenched as a character in the Taylor Swift Universe who you are expected to hold the customary two dimensional view of that all taylor swift characters require. I do think that a subject that i've seen very few ppl mention is how even if not directly is how taylor included her family and their culpability in her Everything on TTPD. Make spectrum pulse (my best fake internet friend mark spectrum pulse) is one of the only ppl other than me and maybe a scant few anons that mentioned it and i think that TSU Character base is a big reason why. We arent talking vaguely about taylors experience with her parents we are talking about Andrea and Scott from Taylor Swift and so broaching the topic of parental culpability in childhood stardom, even the more responsible parents who don't rely on their kids financially and try to protect them where possible, is a conversation that can't really be comfortably had regardless of its place within the text, because it just isnt how the fandom is structured. Parents and specifically fathers are definitely a motif throughout taylors discography and its an interesting and complicated one.

Um conclusion, I wouldnt be shocked if taylor was intentionally referencing pained or negative emotions towards her father and family in general throughout her music just because of how she writes (tolerate it dad song ftw) but I'm also not surprised that she's still close to her parents even if there are rough hills and complications running through everything. She said it herself, she never really got to grow up and she still clearly heavily relies on them emotionally and keeps them in the loop business wise (not shade or an insult I also rely heavily on my parents, thats just something that will vary person to person). I also think her parents have chosen to be public figures who are visually connected to (and profit from) Taylor Swift the brand & art, and it should be okay to talk about them and their complicated place within taylors music.

Around the meeting room confused and worried looks were being shared by the rest of the League. Which like, yeah, what in the Habsburgs was happening here for all of those terms to be applicable?

“Well, you’re Danny’s Mirror, so if you consider him your dad then it stands to reason I’m also your father.” Dan said, hand coming up to his - literally flaming, how did that work? - goatee thoughtfully.

“Yeah but like, I call Danny dad just to piss Vlad off.” Nomad countered, toying with her severed arm with her still attached hand. Kon didn’t think he’d ever get over how casual she was about being literally disarmed and just…not caring. “And I definitely don’t see you as a dad. Uncle?”

The giant of a ghost shook his head with a frown, “Implies that Danny and I are brothers, which could work but gives our relationship kind of a weird vibe. I feel more like his father than anything.”

“Gramps, then?”

“No.”

Nomad laughed, “Fair, wouldn’t want to take the title of Grampa away from CW. Besides we’re both half Vlad, so I think brother works best here.” She frowned, looking thoughtful, “Maybe half brother?”

Dan considered, “Half-brother could work. Though it gives Vlad more credit than he deserves.”

“Oh come on, can you imagine the look on his face if we went in together on suing him for child support?” Nomad asked, fanged grin wicked. Dan’s face lit up at the idea, and Kon felt like they were rapidly heading towards the two ghosts running off to go and go torment whoever this Vlad guy was rather then them help deal with the current demonic problem at hand.

“Can you please explain what any of that means?” Kon asked, more a squeak than anything else. He was starting to get a headache.

i need to stop shadowboxing the concept of romance when i write. i need to make my brain go to a world where romance doesn’t exist when i write because feeling its constant presence and people’s expectations of its presence and reading in of its presence is making me a worse writer.

like. thinking a lot about that post that’s going around rn about Books That Are Clearly Afraid Of The Reader. been thinking about how fear of being interpreted or perceived or whatever permeates a Lot of what i do and always has, creatively, and frankly compromises it, especially in terms of fear of people reading romance into my stuff because of how much i write about interpersonal relationships and intimacy and reliance and vulnerability and intense emotional situations.

i need to stop trying to build a boat with my main priority being ‘i dont want people to insist to me that this is a car or make people feel tricked into seeing a car etc etc’ when there is actually no part of this boat that needs to be made with cars in mind at all i could just Build The Damn Boat. this metaphor got lost.

point is i need to stop letting romance take up space in my stories at all. even if it's just as something i'm doing backflips over and around. i need to just start writing about platonic relationships - friendships, queerplatonic relationships, familial relationships, etc - without feeling like i need to first disprove romance as an automated and inherent assumption. romance should have no quarter here, even in feeling forced to deny it.

I think there’s a lot to be said wrt tsukasa’s side of the dynamic and how he’s less obvious with his affection than Rui, and how his behavior with Rui differs from how he acts with others, but that requires analyzation and we know 80% of ruikasa fans aren’t doing that.

i kinda went over this in my original post but let me elaborate

the reason el goes after book the most in her encounters with freesmart isn’t out of any personal grudge (her quarrel is with pencil and the generalization in her head of freesmart) but because she’s just such an easy target. the weakest or most easy to isolate are always her first targets and. well.

not only does book put herself in danger to protect people, but freesmart, like i said, has a tendency to leave her behind. evil leafy quickly picked up on that

her attacks on them get more frequent in the later half of bfdia because her team is very quickly disintegrating.

her best friend who she found out essentially based their relationship on a lie is gone before she’s able to fix things. tb feels somewhat lost without gb and is struggling to maintain their control on el since golfball did most of the direct interaction. fries ditched a while ago and she barely got to know the others

it feels like she’s going back to how she was without them to anchor her. a terrifying and remorseless monster to be avoided at all costs. maybe she was better off in the forest. she’s never done well with people

hi! i’m flattered you love my blog! and even more so by the fact you think i’m the best person to go to for this question! i’ve briefly talked about mitzi and asa before when analyzing the lunch scene in my long analysis for mitzi’s and wick’s relationship, where i said this on the matter :

to touch upon asa’s treatment of mitzi, even from as early as the phone call we see that mitzi is forced to have a conversation with asa on his terms rather than her own terms. mitzi sets out with a clear goal in mind -- learning why asa sweet would attack the lackadaisy in the way that he did -- and she's repeatedly talked over and threatened, with her questions remaining unanswered. it’s very clear very quickly that asa doesn’t respect mitzi nor view her as someone worthy of his time like atlas was, and almost appears to approach her in a misogynistic manner. he demeans something as simple as her ukulele as a ‘teeny little guitar’ and acts as though mitzi’s tears would be bothersome to him, some sort of burden he’d be forced to deal with rather than a valid emotional response to threats, degradation, and the likes. while asa is by no means wrong with some of his observations, he’s certainly rude and uncaring with how he goes about it. when he tells mitzi that he’s here to suggest that she step down, because he so generously has her interests in mind, she doesn’t buy it ; once again bringing up last nights events, where asa willingly armed the pig farmers with the lackadaisy’s arsenal and sent them over her way without so much as a warning. asa dismisses this coldly, once again dodging any fault and claiming it was ‘happenstance’ and entirely mitzi’s own doing. even now, when he’s actively threatening her and making it clear they won’t stay friendly if she keeps trying to make it in this business, he still won’t fully admit to any sort of responsibility for the disastrous night he helped put her through. while this seems rather typical of asa given his disrespectful streak ( something even mordecai, as valued and as useful as he is, suffers because of ) it’s worth noting that this side of him is new to mitzi and not one she was at all expecting. she even says as much here, in heartstrings.

we also know that mitzi only met atlas due to her performing at the marigold speakeasy first, and it’s likely asa was rather present in her life due to his bond with her now husband. asa even admits that mitzi may be confused because they’ve ’managed a friendly coexistence for so long,’ once again hammering home this idea that up until this point, asa was indeed kind to mitzi, or at the very least cordial. but with atlas out of the picture and mitzi trying to take his position, suddenly asa is more than okay with getting her killed or taking all she has left -- even his plan is nothing short of apathetic and cold, an afterthought, expecting her to give up something important to her and only offering a one time offer to play at the marigold room ‘sometime’ with that ‘old band of hers.’ what’s important here is that mitzi is ruthlessly betrayed by a man who used to like her and is treated as a lesser thing due to his view that she’s too incompetent to run a rumrunning business. he also brings up atlas to, in mitzi’s eyes, ‘intimidate ( her ) into agreeing with him,’ and towards the end of the lunch, she looks particularly kicked and undoubtedly hurt. she leaves this meeting that could’ve stayed a phone call with a potential enemy made and with the world on her shoulders, now more determined than ever to be someone people like asa would be forced to respect. instead of being dissuaded, she’s been encouraged, and it’s not hard to realize why.

so, i suppose those are my very brief thoughts about them post atlas! but as for pre and during, i don’t think there was ever anything really there outside of peaceful coexistence. as atlas’s wife, mitzi garnered respect she probably never had before as a traveling musician! asa wouldn’t dare insult her or belittle her once she became atlas’s wife and probably felt no need to do so in the first place. especially since, after all, asa’s the reason atlas found mitzi at all, back when she played for the marigold room where i assume she was treated well enough given asa’s rather friendly mask. he’s a jokester! he’s well meaning and goofy, always smiling and his eyes permanently upturned looking due to the patterns on his face … mitzi wouldn’t ever really see the asa that many other people deal with, and even when comparing asa to her rather quiet and eeire husband, well, he’d still seem leagues impressionable by default. asa purposely acts like he’s approachable and harmless, and while mitzi definitely knew he wasn’t some angel, i do think she fell for that mask more than she’d like to admit.

how i’ve always viewed their relationship is that the very nature of it was dictated by atlas may simply existing and owning her. his mere interest in mitzi was something phenomenal, and by default, something people had to respect. asa sweet was kind to her because she likely didn’t linger in the marigold room for too long before atlas snatched her up. he’s then very cordial to her, probably armed with compliments and generous gestures of interest because she’s atlas’s wife and asa can respect that role wholeheartedly. it’s only when atlas is removed and mitzi begins putting her paws where they ‘don’t belong’ that asa seems to drop the ruse, because there’s no need to keep it up anymore. even though mitzi isn’t harming anyone and hasn’t tried to step on asa’s toes once, he still steals from her and puts her in danger without care -- not once burdened by any real guilt as he continues to threaten her when she doesn’t back down immediately. with how clinical the removal of affection is here ( because even mordecai hasn’t managed to remove viktor, mitzi, or ivy in such a careful or ruthless way despite his awful actions and words ) i find it hard to believe he ever truly cared for mitzi as an individual person outside of atlas. the way he so casually oozes disrespect and belittles her without blinking an eye is … interesting!

all of this is to say that i don’t think asa and mitzi were ever personally close. they probably never knew each other deeply nor made any real steps to try. they’d see each other because asa had a habit of appearing in the lackadaisy just as much as atlas had the habit of being at the marigold room, and so they’d greet each other and asa would be excessively kind in that bumbling fool way he keenly presents himself and mitzi would be pleased by his presence. very simple ‘this is my friend’s wife’ vibes and nothing more. i doubt asa would even be interested in cozying up to mitzi due to atlas’s implied possessive behavior lol … but it was kindness and it was caring to an extent. it just wasn’t as deep or loyal as mitzi might’ve hoped it would be.
