#dbtag #silly hours #god #I feel like that's a really clear and consistent thing throughout the entirety of the manga but OTL leave it to Toei!!!!#lays on the floor I wish people were less afraid of letting “good guys” be flawed and selfish and reckless without having to like.#idk vilify them?#like Goku does and always has had a ton of negative qualities about him but what keeps him a protag and what keeps those negatives charming #is that 1) he never promises to be anything Else. If you're upset by his behavior that's a you problem Goku's just doing Goku #He's only upset when Other People get hurt because 2) almost none of those negative qualities contain any malice whatsoever #even as a kid when he was 'i killed that guy' it was like 'i solved a problem why are you mad (gen)' not 'good fucking riddance lol'#and he kept that as an adult too even when he learned more about compassion he's still 'well if you're not gonna stop i have to kill you'#it's never 'fuck off and die' it's always 'listen buddy either you knock it off or i knock you out there is no option c '#and god i love that Goku. I spent so long thinking I hated Goku growing up but I only hated Toei's Goku. Toriyama's Goku is GREAT.#like look if an antagonist is just a hero with the wrong perspective a hero is just a villain with the right one #and the fact that Goku has all of the qualities of a villain with none of the malice or intention makes him SO POWERFUL as a character #Goku doesn't like bystanders getting hurt. That doesn't make him less chaotic and self-centered and simplistic in his worldview.#A hero sacrifices his loved ones to save the world -- a villain sacrifices the world to save his loved ones --#Goku sacrifices himself because you cannot kill him in any way that matters #idskahds anyway here's another essay in the tags for your wednesday evening scroll #the justification the interviewer gave was that the anime was for kids but my beef with that is that Hero Tropes strip chaotic characters #of their emotions. sirius didn’t know why he chose to go on with astronomy throughout hogwarts. maybe he wanted to feel some sort of connection to his childhood or even himself/his namesake, but he never actually felt that connection. after a while, he considered dropping the subject in trade for one that felt easier such as muggle studies, but then someone caught his attention.

xenophilius always had a passion for the stars and the universe beyond earth’s territory. sirius saw him as a spacey, sort of esoteric, guy who tended to keep to himself. sirius found the other boy’s presence beyond intriguing and that was frankly the sole reason he hadn’t yet dropped the class. did he want to be friends with xeno? he didn’t think so. all sirius knew was that he wanted to know xeno or be some sort of acquaintance.

as time went on, they became just that; acquaintances. nothing more than exchanged comments or a brief snigger. xeno’s crude, potentially bordering on out-of-pocket, humour was perfect for sirius.

I feel like the reason the Invertedromance2 blog stagnated a bit was because there's less trolls who are openly casteist or weird about caste now. I understand why, its a touchy subject for some people but i dont think ppl should shy away from it with trolls, if they want to. Like how many ppl have been weird to eileil for being a violet dating a bronze and vice versa?

i think the other frustrating thing is like. people online forget that politics and war is complicated. it sucks, it's tedious. civilians are being hurt and killed as a result of fascism and greed. this isnt a saturday morning cartoon. you can't always be spoon-fed tl;drs on who's the good guy and who's the villain. this shit is fluid, and often just looks like this:

i was so brave a couple days ago. there was a baby huntsman spider in my room and i totally didn't fumble trying to catch it 3 entire times while trying to lure it in and out of a box all while screaming and going "whAT THE FUCJ WHAT" whenever it moved even a little bit. in which the reason i was trying to catch it was because it randomly appeared on a box right next to my bed and i knew if i didn't catch it i wouldn't be able to sleep. nope. totally wasn't genuinely frightened by a tiny itty bitty little guy that could literally fit in the palm of my hand 15 times. whaaaat me? scared by a tiny little spider??? psh no wayyyyy man no way

(after i did this i was slightly shaken up and extremely worried there was another much bigger one in my bed and i felt like there were bugs crawling on me until i fell asleep)

#local australian man terrorised by very harmless tiny insectoid creature that is so small it would otherwise be almost unnoticeable #(ok tbf huntsman spiders aren't ''harmless'' per se but they wouldn't bite you unless you really provoked them to. still tho. harmless)#also the spider is ok :)#i captured him in a jar and put him outside and he has now burrowed himself in a potted plant <3 #he's actually really adorable but the problem is that i am TERRIFIED of spiders so i was just like #switching from going ''hi little fella you're so cute can you please get in the jar''#to going 'wgAT THE FUCK HOLY SHIT'' every time he got scared and moved #this is the closest i have ever gotten to touching a huntsman spider ever #weirdest thing is that i think this spider was in my room before. like i found a baby spider a couple weeks ago and here it is again #i thought it just like. vanished and went somewhere else as spiders do but he was apparently in my room the whole time........#but yeah. i have like. the weirdest inner dilemma with spiders #cause like. i like spiders. but i'm also very scared of them. but they're cute. but they're also very visually distressing.#but they're helpful creatures to keep in your home. but they're also very sneaky and could jumpscare you on accident #and also i don't want to have a spider in my room because what if i don't know that it's there and it gets hurt.....#my room is so messy and i'm so clumsy that i'm afraid i'd hurt the poor thing unknowingly #i love spiders but i also have like 10 layers of fear keeping me from getting close to one #like that encounter was the closest i've gotten to a huntsman spider. apart from the bathroom jumpscare incident #spider #huntsman #huntsman spider #arachnophobia #also update: the big huntsman that was living in the kitchen is back.....#he's ok though he can stay there #he's a good bug catcher and i love him :)#he's very dusty and gangly and strange i love him very much #he scares me sometimes but he is my little buddy

#shocked with myself (maybe pleasantly surprised? is the right phrase)#at actually liking barbie a great deal more than i had prepared myself to #it was just a lot more sincere than i had expected; i was afraid it wouldn't be/be more on the snarky side of cinema lately #but it was strangely so much more heartfelt than that #of course some points felt rushed/too on the nose #but the girls and ryan gosling made me so happy #and her at the end saying (spoilers obvs) that yes YES she does want to take life by the hand and pay the price to live and live #also as a former representative of unrequited love the throughline felt a lot gentler than i was prepared for it to be #it was a lot more about emotion and the joy of growing up and growing old than i expected #i don't necessarily think its heart is as pure as a truly great movie??#but it didn't laugh AT you. it made you laugh and it also meant what it said #which idk idk in a sea of endless winks at the camera laughing obnoxiously loudly media i appreciated the at least #wanting to live and live well aspect of it all and how it took that seriously #like someone on my dash said. i don't really know if it was a good movie?? but the borders of my mind are stretched #something in me is dreaming because of it. so i think that at least is worth it all #also all the girls in the theater laughing their heads off did something to me!!!#there were countless friends (including mine) decked out in pink and it was so so so sweet to me #(anyway. you didn't need these thoughts and maybe I'll retract it later when I've come down from the high of hugging both my buddies)
