any advice on how to not rot in the bed all day? 🥲 I have a remote job and don't even bother dressing up anymore. I want to get out of this rut but never seem to know how to do that... :(
hi! i think the best way would be to start small! you can try and separate work and home at home itself, like if you can keep a separate workspace and stick to that, or strictly maintain work hours.
you could also take your work outside — work from a cafe, a library if possible, or a coworking space, or a park. maybe if any of your friends work remotely or have a hybrid workspace, you could work together for the day.
also, since your work largely means you're at home, find time in the day to step out. take a walk, go for a run, or just go sit somewhere, but try and get fresh air and light everyday. it really does help. you could also get a hobby that needs you to be outside, like you could play something or swim or cycle, or if that's an option, go hiking.
check the notes too, for any ideas. i hope this helps!

WFH Burnout is Real. Here's How to Beat It 🔥💻
Working from home sounded like a dream... until it wasn't. Blurred lines between work and personal life, zero human interaction (except maybe with your cat), and the constant temptation to raid the fridge? WFH burnout is a real struggle, but don't worry, we've got you covered.
Boundaries are Your BFF
First things first, set some boundaries, fam. Create a dedicated workspace (even if it's just a corner of your kitchen table), establish set work hours, and stick to them. And for the love of all that is holy, close your laptop when the workday is done. Your Netflix queue will thank you.
Find Your Flow
WFH can get monotonous, so spice things up! Take breaks to stretch, go for a walk, or blast your favorite tunes. And don't be afraid to switch up your workspace. Try working from a coffee shop or a co-working space for a change of scenery and some much-needed human interaction.
Need some inspiration to create a WFH space that sparks joy (and productivity)? Check out my shop for designs that celebrate creativity, self-care, and the art of conquering the WFH life. 🙌

When in a productivity rut, I often find the best thing to do is get out of your space. This could mean taking a walk, moving your work setup to a different room, or my personal favorite, heading to a coffee shop with my laptop to start the work day. Next time you are feeling a little sluggish, uninspired, or demotivated- try it out! ☕️

The problem we face is I have moved my son and I to.one of the hottest, sunniest spots in the country, and I want her to be an indoor girlie as much as possible, but our bedroom gets so hot (all the afternoon sun just blasts us) that chocolate literally melted in there
So she's getting a cooling pad that dog doesn't use to hopefully ease her and we're putting screens on my windows tomorrow so hopefully I can have them open but she can't get out
Baby needs airflow ;_;

I tried to show people how I've made thousands of dollars doing voiceovers and I'm not sure they believe me. So here is a screenshot of about 2 hours worth of work. I teach people how to do this for $50.

This is going to be an extremely important skill in the near future when the work from home industry booms and will be more competitive with ai.
Voice acting skills can also be valuable in numerous non-directly related jobs and industries, where effective communication, storytelling, and vocal performance can make a significant impact. Here are some examples of other non-directly related jobs and industries where voice acting skills can be beneficial:
1. Customer Service and Support: In customer service roles, having strong voice acting skills can help professionals communicate clearly, empathetically, and professionally with customers over the phone or via virtual assistants.
2. Public Relations Public speaking and Communications: Voice actors often work on PR campaigns, creating impactful messaging and narratives that resonate with the public and media through press releases, social media content, and other communication channels.
3. Medical and Healthcare: In healthcare settings, voice acting skills can be helpful for creating educational and instructional materials, patient information recordings, and medical training content.
4. Hospitality and Tourism: Voice acting can be used in hotel welcome messages, audio tours for tourist attractions, and visitor information services to enhance the overall guest experience.
5. Legal and Court Reporting: Voice acting skills are valuable for court reporters and legal professionals who provide voiceovers for transcriptions, witness statements, and legal documentation.
6. Museums and Exhibits: Museums and exhibits often use voice acting for audio guides, exhibit narrations, and interactive educational displays to engage visitors and enhance the learning experience.
7. Environmental and Nature Conservation: Voice acting can support documentaries, educational videos, and public awareness campaigns that raise awareness about environmental issues and conservation efforts.
8. Human Resources and Training: Voice acting can be beneficial in creating training materials, HR communications, and employee orientations to ensure clear and engaging delivery of important information.
9. Non-Profit and Advocacy: Non-profit organizations and advocacy groups can leverage voice acting skills for fundraising campaigns, public service announcements, and educational outreach initiatives.
10. Technology and Software: In the tech industry, voice acting skills are used for user interface design, interactive voice response (IVR) systems, and instructional videos for software and digital products.
11. City Planning and Urban Development: Voice acting can support public outreach campaigns, urban planning presentations, and community engagement initiatives aimed at conveying information about development projects and city initiatives.
12. Architecture and Design: Voice acting can be used in architectural walkthroughs, design presentations, and promotional videos for architectural and interior design firms, helping to illustrate and enhance the visual experience.
13. Financial Services and Banking: Voice acting skills can be useful for creating training materials, customer service tutorials, and interactive voice response systems within the financial industry.
14. Sports and Recreation: Voice acting can be valuable for sports commentary, stadium announcements, and event promotions, adding excitement and energy to the sports and recreation experience.
15. Culinary and Food Industry: In the culinary world, voice acting skills can be utilized for cooking shows, food podcasts, and culinary educational content to engage and entertain audiences.
16. Fashion and Retail: Voice acting can help fashion brands and retail companies create compelling audio content for fashion shows, product demonstrations, and promotional campaigns.
17. Transportation and Logistics: Voice acting can enhance transportation announcements, safety instructions, and informational materials for airlines, public transportation systems, and logistics companies.
18. Call centers and work from home jobs!!! Role play character implementation strategic reflective listening
These examples demonstrate that voice acting skills have broad applications beyond directly related entertainment and media industries. Effective vocal performance, storytelling, and communication are highly relevant across various professional sectors, allowing individuals to leverage these skills to excel in their respective fields.

Why You Should Be Writing Short Stories (And How to Do It Right!)
Before you write a book, you need to write short stories. Here’s why.
You want to write better. You want to publish a book. You want to make money with your writing. It all starts with short stories. Many of the self-published authors I’ve worked with had a book idea, wrote it, and wanted to publish it. This is great—except that most of these people had never written anything before their book. A book is not practice. A book is the goal after you’ve put in the…

I don't know how to write this post, mostly because I can't talk about 99% of what is going on.
To be (infuriatingly) vague: I am currently in a bad situation. I'm hoping to get out of said bad situation within the next year. However, one major obstacle to this is money. As a full-time stay-at-home mom, I can't really work - even WFH jobs aren't feasible at the moment because of... issues that I don't feel comfortable disclosing, for the sake of my child's privacy
When my child is able to go to school, this will change somewhat. I'm looking to do some variety of freelance work. But that probably won't happen until September 2025.
My saving grace right now is that I have a decent amount of savings. However, changing my situation is going to have a lot of upfront costs, and I don’t know how much of my savings will be available long-term for things like rent, bills, and food.
If anyone can help me build savings or start an income, however small, that would mean the world to me.
Here's some ways you can do so:
Tip me on ko-fi
Join my Patreon
Buy my books
Subscribe to my YouTube channel (so I can reach monetizable numbers)
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. 🙏 💕

Okay, serious question as a writer. How do you write as fast as you do. Pls give tips if you can. <3
hi!!!! it is really nice and flattering that you are asking me for writing advice. candidly i don't know if i have any actionable, technical tips, but i can tell you about my "process" so to speak (with the caveat that i am not a professional writer or a professionally trained writer. at best, i am a hobbyist writer and have been writing fics since i was like...16? so there's my resume for you):
the simplest way i can think to explain it is that i don't think when i write, which sounds a little counter-intuitive, but bear with me here while i give you the non-simplest way to explain it.
i will write and write and write whatever my brain tells me to or whatever my brain has been dreaming up the past few days a little bit like clearing a dirty faucet. one of my favourite books is bird by bird by anne lamott, and it's about writing, and one of my fav quotes from it is "the dream must be vivid and continuous", and NO she probably did not mean this about toxic yuri fanfiction but whatever. the reason i bring that quote up is that i am literally constantly, always, always thinking up new stories in my head, and have been since i was young (whether this is healthy or not is up for debate and also none of my business). by the time i sit at my computer in the morning for work, i have an entire world or an entire scene i want to write and i'll just dump it all on to a pages document.
(also worth noting i have the privilege of working in tech (fake job) and it's wfh (which makes it extra fake), so i'm sitting at my computer like 8 hours a day minimum already)
i think it also helps me to think of it in the sense that fanfic, at its core, is a little low-stakes for me comparative to other writing endeavours. i am not being paid to do it. i am not being graded on it. no one i know IRL is reading it. for me, all of that means there is a LOT less self-conciousness or mental blocking in that regard as well. i'm writing within an already-existing world with already-existing characters with already-existing, clear motivations, regardless of what universe they're in. plus fanfic in general is far more forgiving of egregious use of and dependence on tropes.
worth noting as well that fic is the one and ONLY place i've been able to write as fast as i do... i've been working on a novel for maybe an entire year now, and in that entire year i've written about 30-40k words for it vs. the 250k+ words i've written for fuckin. rhaenicent. so if you're looking for tips for writing outside of the context of fic....shrug emoji. sorry.
hope this is helpful tho?? idk .sorry this was long. case in point with the 'writing and writing until i go 'oh wait. i should shut up now'' x

Whenever people talk about ‘kids don’t play/pay attention/read!’ The answers people give are always
- because of phonics not being taught
- kids are kids and naturally have short attention spans
- phones and unrestricted internet
- tired and overworked by an education designed to train them for capitalism
- underfunded and overworked teachers and parents
And while all of these are definitely factors, it doesn’t escape me that no one ever brings up covid in these discussions, and it kind of disgusts me.
Adults have completely and utterly failed these kids and refuse to do anything to protect them, so they’re getting reinfected over and over and over and over again with a vascular disease that causes compounding damage with each infection. Covid can cause serious brain damage and autoimmune dysfunction, leading to brain fog and fatigue. Children don’t have the education or power to keep themselves safe, it’s supposed to be the adults responsibility- and we have all left them to suffer and die and it’s so nasty seeing these posts that blame poor academic performance on anything and everything but the pandemic that continues to rage. We need to reestablish mask requirements, implement clean air in schools and public places, and normalize WFH/remote schooling. The bare minimum which seems nearly impossible to achieve in a society starting to tip into collapse.
