Hello, 27-year-old YiBo~
Time seems to be passing faster and faster. Before you can turn the pages of the past year, you have ushered in the 27th summer of your life.
This year, I know you better. Just like the waves caused by a stone falling into the water, you can always bring some fresh surprises to people. You mark the shining moments in the music, and look back at your sincerity and passion in the role, witnessing your resilience and concentration. Although there is always a time difference between people, fortunately, the morning and evening and day and night you have recorded will eventually be passed to the next person's eyes, giving waves and excitement.
This year, you know the world better. Although the itinerary is as complicated and busy as ever, you have long adapted to the way of coexisting with time and moving towards the state of mind. The world is unpredictable, and you can also calmly accept every sudden rainstorm, just like appreciating every nameless flower blooming along the way, accepting imperfections, allowing regrets, the mountains are high and the seas are vast, please move forward boldly.
The experiences and meanings of growing up, the wet mud, the wind with gravel and the rising and setting of the sun and moon outside the window will tell you. Whether you swing from a standing position or a power swing, when the ball comes, just hit it, and so does life.
Happy birthday to 27-year-old Wang Yibo! 💚
Today is great, yesterday was also good, and tomorrow will definitely be better. The journey of the heart is endless, I wish you continue to travel between mountains and rivers, and I wish you to grow freely!

C-drama wot I've been watching lately
I've been on a Chen Xiao kick since watching The Ingenious One and Viki has been very kind about scratching that itch.
Dream of Splendor
This is based on an opera set in the Song Dynasty about a clever courtesan helping her friend out of an abusive marriage with some clever tricks, and the drama is, like, the continuing adventures of Zhao Pan-er and her friend, plus a nice butcher-lady whose husband had the bad taste to divorce her.
It's got a solid line in adventures and hijinks and a lot of social commentary about what it's like to exist in a lower social class where the law is explicitly written against you. I rejoiced in Zhao Pan-er's cleverness and valour even as the system she struggled with made me overpoweringly angry. And this isn't the Song Dynasty, but enough of those problems were intensely familiar. It's skewed very het, but the love interests are well-drawn and nobody's eclipsing anybody's identity or skills when they get together. Why They Fell For Each Other feels believable, as does, They're Going To Have A Happy Ending. People are *complicated* -- Chen Xiao's character, the love interest, works a job where torturing suspects is part of a day's work, and he doesn't like it but he doesn't quit, either; there's a character who's a colossal ass for two-thirds of the story but he and Zhao Pan-er become friends and really solid business partners; corrupt ministers continue to be corrupt and prosper... we've carved out a bit of happiness for characters we care about, but society hasn't improved a whole lot by the end.
And it's beautiful. There's a lot of art-work floating around, and some of the scenes seem to have been drawn specifically from paintings of the period. Various characters are virtuosos in various ways and display their skills -- down to cutting fish or tofu! It's amazing. 10/10 would reommend.
Being A Hero
I saw Wang Yibo's face advertising this and got the impression it would be very clean-cut and idealistic which I wasn't in the mood for at the time, and moved on. Boy Was I Wrong. It's set on the border where drug-smuggling is a huge issue and, while the forces of law and order do tend to be on the side of angels, there's a lot of issues with overlapping identities and complicated relationships. Wang Yibo is a young police officer. Chen Xiao is his childhood friend who disappeared three years ago after his father was killed and has now come back, thigh-deep in sin. And it's complicated. And various other characters have complicated relationships, there are ploys and counter-ploys and a constantly shifting landscape. Wang Yibo is very upright; Chen Xiao is a sad wet cat and their bromance is lovely. It has a huuuuge cast and I had some moments where I was squinting at the screen trying to remember who was who, but I'd say that's my shitty facial recognition at play, not a flaw in the writing. Special props to two actors I'm more familiar with as Marquis Yan and Xie Yu from Nirvana in Fire. They have amazing parts and they are so good, they act their parts so well my guys.
It's gritty, and hot, and violent, and sympathetic, and going on my rewatch list.

Jiang Gunian Made A Change Part 18
Character archetypes exist for a reason, Xia KeXin mused, watching Jiang YanLi almost scurrying from the Jin section of the camp to stop to talk with Lan WangJi and then hurry off to the Nie camp. Maybe Miss MXTX read Pride and Prejudice, and maybe she didn't. Either way, everyone knows that the Miss Elizabeth Bennett archetype marries the Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy archetype. And Miss Jane Bennett marries Mr. Charles Bingley. Miss YanLi is obviously more of a Jane Bennett so why did she marry a Darcy figure? Xia KeXin looked down the street to where Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi were packing. MXTX got that pairing right. Wei Ying is such an Elizabeth Bennett to Lan Zhan's Darcy. Colin Firth is the sexiest Mr. Darcy on screen; I'll allow this Lan Zhan or his actor Wang YiBo would give him a run for his money in the wet shirt contest. Why did I have to transmigrate into a forty-seven year old fortune teller instead of into one of their bodies? She looked down at her wrinkled skin on her hands and sighed. I'm not even that old. Back home women in their forties were still getting their groove on. Here? Everything hurts when I wake up. Or try sitting on the mats. Thank God for that carpenter! She had found one of the Wen civilians was a carpenter and commissioned him to make her a rocking chair. It had been a grueling process, as he'd never tried to make the curved runners, and she had no idea how to draw a rocking chair to scale, but the end product was well worth it. Several other women had openly eyed the rocker, thinking how useful it would be to be able to sit comfortably while nursing babies or trying to put them to sleep. Or for just taking an afternoon rest.
But back to Jiang YanLi. Obviously Jane Bennett marries Mr. Bingley. Wealthy, kind to everyone, the part where Mr. Bennett says they'll outspend their income is optional, I suppose. As are his annoying sisters and bland brother-in-law. Jin ZiXuan is wealthy, so.... She frowned at her crochet project. Wealthy, yes. But too damn proud to be Bingley. And definitely not kind enough. He's definitely a Darcy 2.0 more than a Bingley. Yeah, so he ends up completely besotted with YanLi. Big whoop. She deserves someone who doesn't need to be smacked in the proverbial face before he realizes what kind of woman she is. So... wealthy and kind? The only one here that fits that bill is... Lan XiChen? Xia KeXin rocked a bit faster, thinking of how the handsome sect leader looked standing next to Jiang YanLi. They do look good together, don't they.... YanLi looks good in that pale lavender she perfers, so I'm guessing that she'll look good in those pastel blues XiChen wears, too. She can even mix and match, probably... White under robes with lavender as her next layer and her outer layers blue.... Or purple, white, blue? That would probably look best? Or... what's that... ombrage? No. What's it called? Xia KeXin internally rolled her eyes at failing to remember the word. It's right on the fucking tip of my tongue! Ombrange? Katie did it to her hair right before we went on vacation, too. In almost the same colors as I'm trying to see for YanLi. Shit! Blue on top fading into purple at the bottom. Not ombrage! She looked up at the sky and mentally screamed at herself. "Got my tongue stuck between my eyeteeth, so I can't see what I'm saying," she spoke out loud in English.
"Did you say something?" a woman passing by asked.
"Just talking to myself," Xia KeXin smiled. Ombre! That's the word. Or Ballyage. I am such a dumb idiot sometimes. Ombrage. What the Hell, Summer? Don't you dare lose your English. It's all I have to remind myself who I was.
She picked up her crochet project and continued the row, thinking about how to get Jane and Bingley together. It just made more sense than Jane and Darcy 2.0.

The comment I’m passing here is from a reader of the fanfic “https://archiveofourown.org/works/20473640
Comment by fanfic3112 : “
“I adored the chapter and they were sooooo perfect! I love the characters who played Wei and Lan Zhan in untamed and now through this story I couldn't help imaging them in perfect detail! Have you seen the harpers bizarre photo shoot they did or tegu figwort shot that Wei dud with his hair wet and tossed in leather and sun glasses? Or the really gritty shoot they dud in Thailand with red land gold lighting and all dark and shadowy and wang yibo (Lan Zhan) looking just hit as fuck. Wang yibo is so much like Lan Zhan in so many what's with the lack of being bake to match his facial gestures to the hot, quirky, grungy, street punk and sometimes even just cute dance moves but in those photo shoots he just came alive in them. He said he really didn't have very look facial muscles especially around his mouth and so really had to work hard to let his emotions well up in his chest send shine through his eyes but to do the subtle facial moves of Lan Zhan he actually used chop stuck to do exercises to develop more facial movement around hugs mouth sync jaw and I was like damn those chop sticks worked not only on his character in the film but in all of those photo shoots. He definitely got that sexy slow bedroom neck role and looking all sexy under his lashes thing going on. Both him and Wei were yummy you could almost lick then off the screens in the photo shoots. When wang yibo dances he is clearly so single minded and focused and likes all eyes on him because he knows he's so good and that when you get to see something in him behind his sometimes shy or quiet or move stoic look...you get to see what you hit across in one live in this story "I hope Wei appreciates that he is the only person I would ever kneel to. Lan Zhan knows he's capable and tough as shit and revered and try's to distance himself from being smug or prideful but you still see it on his face. Even when wang yibo smilies or laughs in videos he still Cary's this certain Lan zhan quality in his eyes (that constipated bitch face look I love!) but he scan defiantly smilie big when he us with Wei and they were goofing off but it's like over the course of filming he brought wang yibos smiles out more and more but even then after each one you usually see himself looking embassies or self conscious cause he's smirking or embarrassed yes smiling. They were so cute in this story and in untamed!
Yeah seeing untamed added a whole other dimension to the anime, manga, novel translation to me and the characters themselves. Then for the first time I found myself really engrossed in the kazillion bits of social media on them. What interests me so much is how Chinese anime, manga, novels and china itself in terms of history and landscape, Vern the music of Chiba that has that transitional feel used in untamed but also current the music of current bands like the characters who play Wei and Lan Zhan come from (uniq and xnine) but particularly the live wuxian, costume and historical drama. It's so interesting looking at why the whole founder of diabolism package basically opened up china to the world in ways I wonder if even they realize. Up until this last year I had never heard of, nor thought or or gone looking for Chinese anime, live drams, manga or Annie and I've held Annie clubs at middle and high schools abc libraries and taught anime drawing. Korean manga and some anime really only started becoming plentiful over the last two years and it had to do with a change in their laws. The whole china xlposiin of interest and more things showing up and getting dubbed has just blown up. There has to be more still the bottom of it than founder of diabolism had a better marketing plan and used social media better or that it all was just really good BL content although those things are definitely true. I can honestly say there's never been another star ir show from china I could name except the ones now from untamed. And it's not just here in the US, it's in Thailand, Dubai, Japan and multiple countries. It's like china is making itself more known but in a back door soft approach and they chose a BL wuxian drama with some hit young Chinese actors to do it with. Just watching the evolution of the two main characters I have found just as interesting. They have just flooded Twitter Facebook and utube bad from a foreign country that us hard yo get much content out there so it all appears to be licensed and apparently nothing happens in china in terms of film, TV or anime without the government abc the censorship board approving it. I love that untamed actually showed the beautiful scenery and landscape that is reflected in the art work. I always find it interesting how things like this can attract so many people and how the impact can ripple to other areas like tourism dollars, increased fame and money and more opportunities for the actors and writers. I love that but also just find it interesting. On a video Xiao Zhan (Wei) said "it kind of frightens me. I'm trying to stay just me and figure the storm will die down soon but I was really in the past kind of nobody and no one paid much attention to me. Now I've got friends everywhere and they all say they like me but I know that can just disappear anytime so I'm just trying to take the opportunities that come because of the popularity now. I'm prepared to fall back to being nobody again when the tine comes." Which sounded and looked so heartfelt. The interviewer had asked what he thought about all the fans in multiple countries he has now and that was his answer. In the past you just didn't see a zillion twitter comment, Facebook comments and tons if utube vid ribs with interviews and every aspect of their lives shown and tons of cool photo shoots and videos shot all subtitled in multiple languages. In the very recent past there wouldn't be most of that stuff and if you did come across it there wouldn't be subtitles and much of it would be blocked on utube. Of what I did see it just wasn't that good as untamed is. For me it's soldo that they deprecated the characters so well and both seem to be so interesting in their careers compared to America actors and stars. I have a friend that used to like watching the kardashians and I never really got how that was interesting but Xiao Zhan and wang yibo have become my kardashians and now I get why other people found them interesting!”

Happy Birthday Hanguang-Jun!
Just a little something for Lan Wangji’s birthday.
Unbetaed, explicit, post-canon, 1.2K
It doesn’t happen often that Lan Wangji’s obligations take him away from his husband and when it does happen it’s rarely for more than a few days. This time he’s been away for a little over a week. Wei Wuxian only let him go after he promised that he would return in time to celebrate his birthday.
The sun is going down by the time he arrives in Gusu, but it’s still the 23rd of January. Lan Wangji stops by the Cold Pond first to wash away the grime of long travel and to treat the minor wounds and scratches he gained because he doesn’t want his husband to worry about them.
He takes the walk to Jingshi slowly, enjoying the way coming home to his beloved warms him from the inside.
He enters without knocking and finds his husband placing food on the table. He can also see wrapped presents but he doesn’t pay them much attention because his husband straightens and grins happily at him.
“Hanguang-Jun!”
He’s dressed in nothing but his red underrobe, and his hair is down. Even after years of marriage, he takes Lan Wangji’s breath away.
With a few long strides, Lan Wangji crosses the space between them, basking in the brightness of his husband’s smile.
“You made it,” Wei Wuxian breathes out.
“Hm.”
He doesn’t say that he would never break that promise. He doesn’t say that he would fight armies and fly over mountains to get back to his Wei Ying in time. He doesn’t have to say anything. He knows that his husband understands.
He pushes Wei Wuxian’s hair off his shoulder and cups his cheek with his palm. Wei Wuxian leans into the touch. Lan Wangji loves how his touch seems to calm Wei Wuxian. He’s usually brimming with energy - like water skipping over stones in a rapid river. When Lan Wangji touches him it’s like scooping the water into his hands - it forms a cold pool in his palms, calm and ready for him to drink.
He drinks Wei Wuxian in now - with a slow gentle kiss.
“I missed you,” Wei Wuxian whispers against his lips.
“I missed Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji admits and kisses him again - deep and demanding.
The water slips between his fingers and returns to the untamed current.
Wei Wuxian wraps his arms around Lan Wangji’s neck, tugging at his hair and pulling him closer as if he can’t get enough of him.
After a moment of fumbling Lan Wangji manages to untie Wei Wuxian’s robe and slid his hands around his trim waist. Wei Wuxian’s skin is incredibly smooth and hot under his palms. It’s a pleasant surprise when Lan Wangji finds out that he’s not wearing any underpants.
“Shameless,” he mutters and squeezes his firm backside.
Wei Wuxian lets out an indignant huff and tugs at Lan Wangji’s clothes. Lan Wangji steps back and hurriedly unties his sash, knowing well that his husband won’t tolerate the separation for much longer. He manages to push his outer robes off his shoulders before Wei Wuxian presses himself close to him, rubbing his tender bits against the soft material of Lan Wangji’s inner robe. He gets the robe open while Lan Wangji kisses him. Pressing wet kisses to his collar bones, Wei Wuxian’s clever fingers find the waistband of Lan Wangji’s underpants and he pulls them down. Before the cloth hits the floor Wei Wuxian is on his knees.
“Wei Ying” he aims for a reproving tone but fails when he feels Wei Wuxian’s hot lips and tongue working him to hardness. He buries his fingers in Wei Wuxian’s silky hair. He feels no need to guide him - his husband knows perfectly well what he likes - but to anchor himself.
He closes his eyes and enjoys the pleasure his lover is giving so readily.
As much as he loves the wet warmth of Wei Wuxian’s mouth, this is not the way he wants to reach his fulfillment.
With great regret, he pulls Wei Wuxian’s head away and ignores his grunts as he hauls him to his feet. He offers consolation in a filthy kiss. Wei Wuxian is still wearing his red robe - opened and obscenely revealing his aroused state. The soft material brushes against Lan Wangji’s hands when he grabs Wei Wuxian’s buttocks and heaves him up. Wei Wuxian instinctively wraps his legs around Lan Wangji’s waist and with no more protest than a surprised squeal lets himself be carried to the bed.
He pulls Lan Wangji down on top of him the moment his back hits the mattress. They spent some time just kissing, their hands roaming around to become reacquainted with every detail of each other’s bodies.
A single touch tells Lan Wangji that his shameless husband has been touching himself while waiting for him. His hole is wet and puffy and Lan Wangji’s finger slides in easily. He adds oil generously, though, before he starts teasing Wei Wuxian with two fingers, enjoying the way his beloved first demands, then begs for him to exchange them for his cock. When he’s finally satisfied with Wei Ying’s desperate state, he enters him in one fluid motion.
They both become still then and enjoy the moment of connection in silence. In that endless moment, they are one creature, they share every breath, their hearts beat in sync. Then Wei Wuxian moans and squeezes Lan Wangji tightly to prompt him to move. Lan Wangji complies. He moves slowly and carefully, eliciting sweet sounds out of his husband that he muffles with sweet kisses. He keeps the languid rhythm until he feels like the fire growing inside him is going to burn him alive. He straightens then, getting a firm grip on Wei Wuxian’s hips, and starts pounding him vigorously, each thrust pushing a grunt out of Wei Ying’s kiss-swollen lips.
“Lan Zhan, you brute!” he cries out. “You are merciless to this weak little body! Do you think you can do whatever you please to your poor husband just because it’s your birthday?”
