Here it is, the most secretive and stubborn Phantom production I know of: That of Kristianstad, Sweden.
It premiered in early 2020, was closed down, set its repremiere for 2021, was closed down, set its repremiere in 2022, was closed down, and finally got its full run in 2023. Produced by Emil Sigfridsson, and directed by David Rix, it had scenography by the producer and director as well as Filip Hällefors, and costumes by Fia Persson. Conductor was veteran Julian Biggs, and Nils-Petter Ankarblom. Revamped deformity and mask was by Thomas Foldberg.
The original cast featured Joel Zerpe as the Phantom and Sara Ollinen (redhead) as Christine. The final run had John Martin Bengtsson as the Phantom, and Hanna Ulvan (blonde) as Christine. Jonathan Böiers was principal Raoul for all cast combos.
Due to the topsy-turvy run I don't think a full photoset was ever shared anywhere. Bits and bobs was used in promo work, some was shared by cast members, some by newspapers, some in the souvenir brochures, but finding good photos of all scenes has been near impossible. Here's a best of, with the majority taken by Amanda Sigfridsson (first auction set one is mine).

I know we all agree Dame Celia Westholme and Edward Masterman eventually met and married each other 😎 but what’s your headcanon about how it happened?
I mean, I don't have any headcanons for them at all, anon. Really. Which probably also means I don't agree with you. At all.
Sorry to kill your imagination, but clearly, if you have watched the episodes, is one: they never met and are totally different characters, two: Dame Cecilia (spoiler alert!!) committed suicide, and Edward Masterman (or Teddy, as he was called in the show) was...well, free.
There are certain limits to one's imagination, especially when to comes to our favorite actors portraying such classic villains.
#tw: suicide#just because they're portrayed by mcgonneville DOES mean we'll do such imaginations#these are classic villains and they portrayed them well. that's all#poirot#appointment with death#dame celia westholme#murder on the orient express#edward masterman#anon ask

Turnsgiving 2024: Day 6
Favorite Underrated Character
In honor of the horse girls (Washington, Hewlett, and Tallmadge) I’d like to dedicate today’s post to Ben Tallmadge’s unnamed steed. Real life Tallmadge was very attached to his horses (see the story of him going back for his horse during the retreat from the New York Campaign) and was an excellent rider due to his career as a cavalry officer.
Although Turn doesn’t include the proper mounts for Benjamin’s 2nd Dragoons— dapple greys— it’s still nice to see him riding across a battlefield or racing through the woods. Also, the 2nd dragoons have the best uniform out of the entire cavalry line so Ben can look every inch the “cavalry lad” Rogers claims he is.
Before watching Turn, I didn’t care for military history or have a favorite branch. Now I can confidently say my favorite branch is the cavalry, and I’ve done three separate research projects featuring them!
If you want to learn more about cavalryman and their horses, indulge your inner horse girl with this collection of essays! One of my favorites:
And there is this book for young readers about Tallmadge in the New York Campaign with his horse! For kids but still looks fun/cute:
#does this make sense#is this serious?#somewhat#anyways. PONIES!!!!#gotta show love for the cavalry whenever possible#turnsgiving2024#amanda speaks#real horse girl shit

The Overflowing Heart
I will tell you how I made this witch’s token, but you will have to find a way of your own. It is as Grandmother Wren told us,
“Remember always that some portion of magic is yours to wield, and that the world contains many, many truths.”
the recipe:
3/4 oz Kazuki gin
1 1/2 oz. Sake + tea mixture
1 oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit
3/4 oz. Strega
shake over ice, and serve in your finest or favourite tea cup
garnish with dried rose petals
notes:
Sherringham Kazuki gin— a collaboration of one of my favourite distilleries and my favourite local tea shop, Westholme Tea Farm. Made from Japanese cherry blossoms, and locally grown tea leaves with notes of yuzu, grapefruit, and juniper. I first visited Sherringham in a trio of my own, on a day long adventure, visiting a beach someway up the island. Westholme is run by an old coworker of my Aunt’s, and his partner who makes gorgeous pottery. I could not put words to my excitement when I first heard whispers of their collaboration.
Sake + Tea Mixture— I can never fully recreate this just the same. There is magic in that, I think. I have little left. I made it by taking a sprinkling of the following teas from Westholme, and cold steeping them in a mason jar with a large ice cube, topped with sake and a splash of moon bathed witch water.
featuring:
Blossom: (jasmine green, floral), for the cottage’s calendar
Bi Luo Chun: (green, delicate and earthy), for i thought it was grown here, over seven long years (I rolled a nat 1 on my perception check)
Pur-eh: (fermented, earthy), for its mushroominess and it’s connection therin
Dog: (black assam, vanilla and cardamon, from the Chinese Zodic series), the cardamom pod and a few leaves, for our beloved Fox
Witch Water: the witch water used in this potion was bathed in the Friday, October 13th New Moon (a day so witchy I thought for sure the class would be released that day!) in an empty kazuki gin vessel
~
Grapefruit— because it was pink and in season and a citrus I love dearly
Strega— the witch liqueur! According to legend, Giuseppe Alberti was given the recipe for this elixir after saving a witch falling out of the sacred walnut tree, under which witches would convene to dance and perform their rituals.
for the cocktail chapter of the @worldsbeyondpod unofficial cookbook
#worlds beyond number#wbn unofficial cookbook#wbn#the wizard the witch and the wild one#ame the witch#grandmother wren#cw alcohol#styling inspired by artwork featured in the witch class playtest im pretty sure by Tucker Donovan#if this turns into a hit post play go play Wickedness and stream Ghost Quartet#how the fuck do i condense this recipe into a tweet who the fuck knows#feat. all of my magic witch’s tokens and my principles of green witchcraft book in the background#sometimes a witch character and a cocktail inspired by her is something that can be so personal#check out the Neat the Boozecast episode on Strega for all the cool witchy details and history!!!!

On June 26, it was 125 years since Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna was born
Family friend Lili Dehn recalled how when she “first knew the Grand Duchess Marie, she was quite a child, but during the Revolution she became very devoted to me, and I to her, and we spent most of our time together — she was a wonderful girl, possessed of tremendous reserve force, and I never realised her unselfish nature until those dreadful days.“
Maria was noted for her love of children, frequently visiting the local orphanage, and in 1914 wrote to Olga Vorovona, a friend who was the wife of one of the family’s favourite officers, how she enjoyed visiting the “such awfully sweet darlings” at the orphanage. “We gave them all presents and they were so happy with them and each one showed their nanny what they got…. I love little children so awfully much, play with them and carry them in my arms. Do you love babies?" In her memoirs, Olga Voronova described Maria as “kindness and unselfishness personified.”
Happy birthday Grand Duchess Maria!

VIDEO
A VENIR

Turn Week 2023:
If I Could Change One Thing
Turn Week 2023 is already over! This week has flown by, and I hope everyone who participated had a wonderful time. I appreciate all the love on my first Dragoons post- and yes, I'm back with another one. This time, I am not sorry.
Tallmadge vs Tarleton
As I mentioned in my last post, after the Philadelphia Campaign ended, Major Benjamin Tallmadge and his 2nd Dragoons stayed up north, while other cavalry regiments went to fight in the Southern Campaign- where they arguably had most of their combat experience. Why did Tallmadge stay up north? Two reasons are that the dragoons were still needed for scouting and raiding the British forces in strongholds like New York- keeping the Hudson River in Patriot hands- and that by now, he was General Washington's spymaster for the Culper Ring in Long Island and New York City.
But that doesn't mean that Tallmadge didn't have his saber drawn in battles or skirmishes.
On July 2, 1779, Tallmadge and the 2nd Dragoons were camped in Pound Ridge, New York. They were suddenly ambushed by "two hundred British and loyalist cavalry." Although the 2nd Dragoons had strengthened forces thanks to Washington sending Moylan's 4th Dragoons, the British received a letter saying so. Leading the charge was Lieutenant-Colonel Banastre Tarleton, a British dragoon who would eventually become one of the most famous cavalrymen of the Revolution. Before 1779 and the Southern campaigns, one of his known escapades included being present at the capture of General Charles Lee.
Tallmadge and Tarleton's forces fought each other in front of the Presbyterian Meeting House during the Battle of Poundridge, going from on horseback to fighting on foot. When Tarleton's men and the 17th Dragoons entered the fray, it was clear that Tallmadge and Colonel Sheldon's 2nd Dragoons would not win the day. They retreated with the British pursuing them.
Along with his victory, Tarleton now had the 2nd Dragoon's regimental flag. But, especially unfortunate for Tallmadge, there were a "dozen causalities," and a dozen horses taken. One of these horses belonged to Tallmadge himself. Like any cavalryman, he kept his essentials in his saddlebags. Now they were in the enemy's hands. In those bags were, according to author Alexander Rose (doesn't that name sound familiar?) "twenty guineas" from Washington to Abe Woodhull as payment for his spying, and intelligence papers related to the ring.
How does this relate to Turn?
Season three of Turn takes place between 1778-1780. During this season, they did include the Battle of Stony Point- important in its own right- but why would they not include something that involves not only losing a battle, but information about the ring being stolen from Benjamin?
I think that instead of filling up screentime with the, frankly, at this point, ridiculous Robert Rogers and Abe doing what the hell they did plotline, they could've included the Battle of Poundridge. Could you imagine Benjamin's reaction to losing his horse and intelligence? And if they wanted to show Washington losing faith in the ring, wouldn't this be a good example? Instead, we had Robert Rogers and Abe running around in his little rat hole.
Also, if they wanted to use historical figures like Hamilton and Martha Washington to boost ratings and be like "please give us a fourth season," Banastre Tarleton is a pretty popular guy. Just saying.
And, lastly, you're probably like, "Amanda, are you saying that you, Benjamin Tallmadge's PR manager, want to see him get his ass beat?!" Yes. Yes, I do.
