1) The helicopter scene from Death Note
This scene had me really and truly GAGGED. This was the moment this story went from great to incredible in my mind in terms of writing. The music, the tension, the voice acting, the animationnnnn uGH *chefs kiss* SO GOODDDDDDD
2) the “because I’m Kira” scene from Death Note
“if you don’t mind my asking, why do you keep checking your watch?”

Everything about this scene is sooooo beautiful!!! The animation, the voice acting, the musical score!!!!!! Ugh, so perfect

I love love LOVE this scene so much. It’s still one of my favorite moments in the entire show, and really cemented byler as my fav ship. Such a sweet, heartfelt scene for them 🥹
6) the “he’s a spy” scene from Stranger Things
Can you tell I love me a good reveal or plot twist? This was one of my favorite moments of s2 and remains so even now. This whole episode was amazing and so was this season
7) the “I did it for me” scene from Breaking Bad
Do I even need to elaborate? This is one of the best shows ever made and this scene was like the cherry on top of an already perfect show
8) the final scene of The Legend of Korra
aka Korrasami endgame. I remember watching this scene when it aired and I bawled my eyes out. This ship meant so much to me and still does
9) the kataang scene in the episode The Desert
ughhhgghhhg this whole scene is amazing. one of my favorite moments between these characters in the whole show.
10) Aang’s avatar state moment in the finale
when I tell you this had me speechless as a 10 year old lmao. when he grabs his goat beard 😭😭😭😭 THE SERVE IT WAS!! top 10 moments in TV HISTORYYYYYYY. this was an ass whipping 3 seasons in the making and it was and still is unforgettable

Febuwhump 22: Burned
I can make any crack scene whumpy, just watch
Summary: Kai is chained up, and Pythor wasn't lying when he said he would barbecue him.
Trigger Warnings: burning
556 words
Kai grunted through the gag, kicking his legs and swinging his body back and forth as he tried to escape. Not that there was a high chance of that — there were nindroids everywhere, and Pythor, that rotten snake, was approaching fast.
“I hope you like barbecue. We’re about to have one!” Pythor said, smug.
Kai attempted to kick him, but he was just out of reach, and he went swinging once again.
“One barbecued ninja, well done, please.”
That obnoxious, sick prick.
Had he not been gagged, he would have spit out a very long string of curses that, if Lloyd or Nya asked in the future, he did not know. Those two were practically infants, after all.
Kai glared at him, shouting through the gag anyway. After all the fights Pythor had lost, he really thought he could get rid of one of the ninja by chaining him up under a rocket? Please, not only was it just too stupid, but fire was his element. There was no way it could actually kill him.
“Ninja!” One of the nindroids shouted, pointing up at the rocket.
If Kai wasn’t in increasing pain from the way he’d been chained (his shoulders felt like they were going to snap), he would have probably sighed in relief.
They were going for the launch key, thank goodness.
But the nindroids were overwhelming them fast, and Kai couldn’t do anything if he tried. As much as he hated it, all he could do was watch.
“T-minus: 10,” a robotic voice announced.
Oh shit. That was not good.
“9.”
He began to struggle again, praying to the First Spinjitzu Master that fire really couldn’t kill him.
“8.”
He shouted through the gag, hoping one of his friends would get to him in time.
“7.”
Jay ran to him, fast as the lightning he possessed.
“6.”
“I’ve got you!” He said, snatching the gag off as he began fiddling with the chains.
“5.”
“‘Get me’ faster!” Kai cried.
“4.”
“I’m trying! Chains are strong, you know.”
“3.”
The lock broke, and Kai dropped to the floor.
“2.”
“Go go go!” Jay insisted, rushing out of range of the rocket.
Kai moved to follow him, but he was stopped short, just outside of the part where the fire would come out (sue him, he didn’t know rocket terminology).
What he did know was that the fire, even if only a little bit, would still hit him if he couldn’t move any further.
The chain on his other arm was still connected, and he couldn’t get away.
“1.”
The fire came to life, and pain pain pain painpainpain seared through his arm, worse than any other burn he’d ever endured. It was a burn from the forge a thousand times over, stabbing and screaming and oh fuck fuck fuck.
He could hardly hear anything over the sound of his own screaming.
His throat hurt from it. His throat hurt, his arm hurt, everything hurt.
He went flying, suddenly, the chain snapping. Kai crashed into Jay, who had run to help him again, and they landed in a heap on the floor.
On some level, Kai registered the tears staining his mask.
“First master,” Jay was repeating, panicked and horrified. “Kai, holy shit, I’m so sorry, this is my fault, I—”
Kai, the pain sending an awful fuzz through his brain, didn’t hear the rest.

Final Fantasy prompts # 31
1. Sephiroth uses Cloud as a therapist.
Sephiroth going on about his life while Cloud is tied to a chair and gagged is just hilarious to me.
2. AVALANCHE, Sephiroth and the Turks are all turned back into 10 year olds and booted, (by Aerith probably) to the Pokémon world and have to survive as Pokémon trainers. The problem? They were all separated and no one has any way to contact eachother.
(Inspired by Viincentsvalentines pokemon/ff7 post. I adore Cloud having a overprotective and murderous Shinx as a starter pokemon. I also love AC Cloud with a Luxray)
(I have a set of rules I use for the pokemon AUs if you're interested)
3. Cloud is ace/aro and is just working on Fenrir, blissfully oblivious to everyone fighting over him just inside the bar.
Those who aren't fighting are fueling the fire and making the situation worse.
In short, Reno starts a shipping war with an actual war.
There is no mercy.
Featuring: people trying to flirt with Cloud only to be full-body tacked away mid conversion, Cloud shrugging everything off, Rufus being a manipulate weasel, and Cloud choosing to "Date" his motorcycle just to get people off his back. No one is respecting Clouds boundaries or sexual orientation.
4. Cloud gets thrown back in time but loses his memory. He has no idea who he is or how he got to this snowfield, luckily this energetic, spikey haired man befriends him and is dead set on showing him off to Angeal.
Genesis had to do a double take, the blond wasn't just well armed. He was practically prepared for war. A massive overly intricate sword was the mans back, his gaze was unwavering, even when faced with the three most powerful men in the world. The redhead barely had to glance at him to tell that all the materia on him was at max level, even the supports.
"Well, my dear friend," he began, turning to Angeal, "it seems your puppy has brought home a wolf."
5. Sephiroth appears to Cloud in his apartment, intending to torment him again. Cloud doesn't seem to acknowledge him, no matter what he says or does. He even grabbed his puppet by the throat and pinned him against the wall.
Nothing. Cloud just closed his eyes and began counting backwards from thirty. The former general released him and Cloud went back to making his sandwich.
The silverette was thoroughly miffed at this point and stalked Cloud throughout his apartment as he sat down the plate of food down on his table next to a glass of water. The blond then darted into the bathroom for a moment and came back with a small orange pill bottle.
Intrigued, Sephiroth watched the blond down two pills before picking up the bottle.
He looked back at his blond, quietly assessing him as he ate his sandwich.
"So. You've been hallucinating."
6. Cloud bursts into a packed SOLDIER rec room disguised as a SOLDIER 2nd and yells, "Who knew about the cat?!" Then sprints across the room and breaks through the window, leading down to the streets below.
The room erupts into chaos.
Later Yuffie pays him 2000 gil
7. Sephiroth not understanding the symptoms of a crush while Genesis tries to teach him how to flirt.
Genesis is not having a good time.
8. Cloud and Sephiroth are trapped in a small enclosed space. So there they lay, pinned by debris, pressed against eachother, and making awkward conversation cause Cloud will be damned if he let's Sephiroth go on about the whole "Sailing the cosmos" thing again.
9. Vincent and Cloud secretly sing duets together when no one is around. Poor Barret winds up listening to them sing (and dance to) "Instruments of cyanide" (DA games version) and is thoroughly shook.
On the plus side, he now knows why Valentine always carries around those small Bluetooth speakers
10. Time traveling animal version of Cloud who reverts back into a human while being petted by Sephiroth.

11. Doll AU where Jenova creates an AC Cloud doll for Sephiroth, a CC Zack doll for Angeal, and a FF7 Aerith doll for Genesis. All of the dolls are life-sized and perfect copies of the originals. The three generals didn't know what to do with them at first. Sephiroth shoved his in a closet, Angeal sat his on the couch and poked fun at the real Zack, and Genesis layed his lovely maiden in a glass coffin filled with lillies, using her as a center piece in his home decor.
It starts with Sephiroth occasionally brushing his dolls blond hair, eventually coming to brush it every night. He became obsessed with caring for the doll, until one night, while he was laying in bed pretending to be asleep in an attempt to do the real thing, his doll came to brush his hair. He remained still while the doll lovingly groomed him. Even after the doll left, Sephiroth did not sleep.
The Zack doll...was another thing entirely. Angeals things would go missing on a regular basis. His laptop, his keys, his keycard. He couldn't tell you how many times he'd been locked out of his own apartment. The weirdest time, was just ofter he had comforted Zack, telling him that he cares about him more than any doll, no matter how lifelike it is.
Angeal had night terrors for a week strait and every pair of pants he owned disappeared on the day of a military presentation he was required to attend.
Genesis's doll has full on disappeared from her case, sometimes for days at a time. The redhead is always furious, convinced someone is stealing her. He sets up cameras, but they catch nothing. One moment the doll is there, then she's gone. He always felt like he was being laughed at when this happened, on the other hand, the flowers in the case mysteriously never wilted and new materia would appear around his house sporadically. Which was weird because he was always meticulously organized regarding his materia.
Aka Eldrich Doll au horror story slowburn.
12. Sephiroth realized his puppet was growing stronger at the same rate he was growing weaker
(Not related to no. 11 unless you want it to be)
13. Sephiroth shoving a ring onto Clouds finger and proudly declaring them married.
Cloud thinks he's gone completely off his rocker.
14. Sephiroth devolving into base animal instincts to court Cloud.
Example: giving him shiney rocks and materia, blankets, and basic food and hygene products, killing people the blond hates, complimenting him on both his looks and skills, and of course, preening himself to look the absolue best for his precious.
The best part is that it actually works
15. Vincent and Cloud cuddling in Vincents coffin. Cozy.

A Webcomic Review of “Garden Club Detective Squad”:
Oh God Oh Fuck did someone just die?

The Description:
“Gardening and solving crime aren’t what straight-A student Yeon Han thought she would be focusing on at her new school. But when she discovers a notebook that contains clues to a 15-year-old murder mystery, she and the other members of her new gardening club realize the murderer not only has access to the school -- they probably work for the school. Can the gardening club squad figure out who committed the murder even though the principal and their teachers seem desperate to cover it up?”
Now, this description is quite detailed, maybe a bit too detailed.
This comes down to personal preference, but personally, I don’t like seeing the plot in thorough detail before reading the story, especially if it is a mystery.
If it were me, I would write the description as:
“In her attempt to not become a backwater girl, Yeon Han eventually decides to become the President of the Gardening Club. But she’ll soon realize that maybe she might have bitten off more than she could chew”
This description may be a bit rudimentary, but it shows an idea of what my ideal description for this webtoon would be.
It says just enough about the story while also leaving enough to imagination. But the current description at present shows what the first 3-4 chapters are. Had the description not even mentioned the teachers, I probably wouldn’t have considered they were trying to cover anything up to begin with.
That being said, I did read chapters 1-3 of the webtoon blind. And I have to say, I didn’t expect the unassuming colorful cover of this Webtoon to show such menacing and dark panel off-rip.

But, let us familiarize ourselves with the cast, shall we?
Characters:
Yeon Han - The Brain:
Yeon is an honor student who moved outside of Seoul, presumably due to not having enough money to stay. Despite this turn of events, she doesn’t want to become a “backwater girl”. For the sake of her academic record, she decides to settle on becoming the class president. But her peers are just amused at how cocky she was despite being new to the school.

When that fails, she decides to settle on becoming the president of an after school club. But forget becoming president, they wouldn’t even allow her to join on the basis that she is too qualified. BRO, THE LITERATURE DISCUSSION CLUB HAS THREE MEMBERS. ONE INCLUDING A BODYPILLOW FOR FUCK SAKES. Part of me wanted to laugh but part of me also felt insulted for her.
I expected her character to be the “genius that finds a niche that she enjoys compared to other activities they would usually dominate at”, but she is already fed up with how hard gardening actually is. Not to mention the amount of faculty and students who ask favours from her.
It was a very pleasant surprise, because now I can rightfully assume that while she works on her cases, she might pick up skills from the gardening club. Dare I say, she actually comes to appreciate and enjoy it as a hobby? I guess only time will tell, as this is still a very new Webtoon, with 12 Chapters out as of this review’s conception.
The one thing I have on my mind at the moment, is if her range of skills she currently has will be useful when tackling the murder case.
Whether or not that is the case, I have high hopes for her as a character.
Mirim Shin - The Spiritual:
Although I said I have high hopes for Yeon, I think Mirim is my favorite character. As the daughter of a priest, she is in tune with her spirituality on a whole other level compared to her club mates.
An interesting tidbit about her is that she decided to practice all forms of faith before her baptism. I can only assume it’s so she could have an idea of what could have been, before deciding to lock in on one specific faith.
Honestly, I genuinely didn’t expect for her to say something like this, not because it sounded ridiculous, but because up until that point, it felt like her spirituality was just a running gag that came with her character.
It was nice to see her character expanded upon, and I hope the other characters get the same treatment, even if it is only brief.
Baekji Kang - The Muscle
Then there's Baekji, who easily wins in cool factor.
I can’t say much other than that in addition to being a part of the garden club, she is also in the Judo club. Although the story doesn’t technically address it, I feel like she fills the role of pseudo-leader / Vice-President of the club.
She’s cool.
Saessak - The Green Thumb’d Romantic?:
Ssaesak is a soft-spoken girl who attends to the garden's needs as one of the two members of the garden club.
She is unexpectedly a romantic, being interested in bad boys.
I only found her annoying for a brief moment because it seemed like she was going to hold back information on her latest crush, Hyeonsu Jeong (the lunch guy), before finally finding the resolve to give a possibly game changing piece of evidence to Yeon.
She’s alright.
Execution:
Despite the mostly positive things I have said in this review, my first impressions of Garden Club Detective Squad were more negative in comparison to the opinions I shared at present.
When I read Wizard of Arsenia, I had overblown expectations because my editor Nen had already recommended God of Bath, a webtoon I have now come to really appreciate. I assumed I would love it in the same way.
My expectations were what held me back from what I usually do best: Sit down and just enjoy the show. Granted, I still hold opinions about it that I believe hold back the story, but the opinions were way fairer than what I could have said.
This time around, I made a similar mistake.
I decided on my own to read Garden Club Detective Squad for this review, and held expectations for the mystery element of the Webtoon, which was reinforced by the first panel I showed in the review. Thankfully, even if the webtoon didn’t live up to whatever expectation I had, I know that I could still appreciate it for what it was because I just went with the flow. At worst, the mystery could come across as contrived.

That being said, somehow, I was disappointed. Even a bit annoyed 5-7 chapters in. Disappointment is one thing, but why was I annoyed?
At first, I was thinking it was because the story had a problem with how it presented tension. After all, the webtoon is categorized as a mystery, so I criticized it as such.
In my original draft, I wrote the following:
“The webtoon is categorized under mystery, but I don’t really feel the urgency of the case whatsoever. I feel like I am getting whiplash between moments that I feel are supposed to be serious and moments that are just ‘slice of life’ hijinks.”
I hadn’t taken into account that, although it was a “mystery”, it functioned more like a “comedy”, like God of Bath.
I feel as though the Webtoon was miscategorized. I use God of Bath as an example because it could have easily been categorized under “Action”, because of the Ttaemiri battles. But despite these battles, because of the way dialogue is presented, it is understandably under the comedy genre. Moreover, the action was more of a vehicle to tell the stories and values of the characters themselves. In other words, even if you were to take out these action elements, God of Bath would be fundamentally the same.
But according to my logic, does this mean that if this webtoon didn’t have mystery elements, it would be fundamentally the same?
No, and I do not think it would be the same if the webtoon didn’t have the comedy elements either.
To be perfectly clear, just because I think Garden Club Detective Squad is a comedy, it doesn’t mean that I think it shouldn’t present mystery elements, or vice-versa. But I wish Webtoon could at the very least categorize it as both a “mystery” and “comedy”.
Who knows, maybe my opinion will change as more and more chapters get uploaded. Or rather, I hope it does.
Personally, despite my position towards the webtoon being a comedy, it isn’t all that funny.
And as of the currently uploaded chapters, I think the mystery is all right.
In my opinion, what makes a good mystery is having all the clues presented to the characters and the reader to be able to solve the case. To understand 52chu’s take on mystery, I’ll break down the first suspect, Hyeongsu. Take this scene the beginning of episode 6 for example:
This scene is trying to insinuate that Hyeongsu is the killer. The dramatic irony of this scene, Saessak’s photo of Hyeongsu dumping bones in the garden, and the story deliberately pointing out that there are no cameras in the cafeteria/garden area are the three pieces of information the story provides to help the indirect claim.

But it was all a misunderstanding. Whoops, my bad. “I was just trying to help you all”.

It's almost comical how much the plot just wanted to frame Hyeongsu, I can’t help but laugh.
All forms of evidence lead to Hyeongsu, except the fact that the bones were the remnants of ribs from past cafeteria specials:

If you were able to pick up the possibility, then great. But somehow, Hyeongsu’s mini-arc just fell flat for me. Whether you knew this one detail or not, it feels like I’m going to be dragged from suspect to suspect in the future. Everyone one of them will be the “killer” except for that one contrivance that makes them innocent. Honestly, I firmly believe that it isn’t any of the faculty.
You know what, here's my Trademark 8Requiems theory. The culprit is Chair Juyeong.

I don’t mind the club reaching dead ends, but if there aren’t elements that could at least help me identify who the real culprit is, I doubt I could enjoy it as much as I’d like to.
Conclusion:
Reading and understanding this Webtoon has been somewhat of a ride. Although it is still ongoing, I have mixed feelings on whether or not I want to continue reading. But despite the gripes that I have with it at the moment, I think I will continue reading it just to see where 52chu takes the story.
You will likely enjoy this Webtoon if you like stories where the plot focuses on the reader having fun with the misadventures of the cast.

Summary: The Mantis crew arrives to the capital of Ulfin, in the planet of Pevera, under siege. They meet the local rebel cell spearheaded by the former Republic admiral, Jax Beneb, who seeks to destroy the Empire’s occupation that was aggressively imposed upon while exploiting the planet of its natural resources. A plan is devised to destroy the Imperial’s main base of operations—as well as their influence—in the planet; however, it was a do-or-die mission that you and Cal had gotten yourselves caught in.

“Hey, get up! It’s time for your daily exercise,” a Stormtrooper grumbled on the other side of the ray-shielded prison cell.
You sit there inside—eyes closed, in a meditation position on your knees, hands on top of them. Purposefully ignoring the guards, they tagged you as stubborn, dismissive, and ignorant. They can’t comprehend how you’re perfectly unmoved by the shouting and the banging of their weapons against the walls to draw your attention.
You can hear them, alright. You just chose not to listen.
A lie. Your mind spoke.
Ever since they saw your display against the Second Brother, the so-called “daily exercise” is a kind word they used for the gladiatorial training they throw you into. Everyday, they’d force you out of your cell—which, ironically, is the safest place you could ever be in this predicament—and each time you resisted, a strike on the head or the first body part they see is what you get in return. Once in the dojo, you face a wave of enemies; at first it was a batch of Scout Troopers—they were quite easy to fight—next they started mixing it up with Scout and Purge Troopers, and eventually they used Purge Troopers for your duels, the latter persisted for the rest of your days in the prison.
Sometimes no one knows who is whose training dummies—regardless, the fights went on and the Purge Troopers treated it like a breath of fresh air every time.
“HEY!” the Stormtrooper, impatient of your unresponsiveness, punched the wall at you. Your reaction defeated its purpose. “Do you hear me?! I said stand up!”
“Hey, don’t cause such a ruckus. It’s just one kid,”
“Are Jedi always this stubborn?”
The second Stormtrooper made an incoherent, indifferent grumble as he shrugged his shoulders, wanting to end the small talk and just wait until your budged. When there was nothing but silence, spare the muttering complaints of the guards in the midst of the silence, you relished the peace again.
“Well, finally,” you quietly tell yourself and hung your head down.
There were worse things to worry about.
Visions revolving in hate, anger, and even death—these were the images that you cannot purge from your mind. Not even the purification of meditating proved to be of any help. Something was clouding your mind in the Force and bent them to their malignant will.
Much later, the ray shield died down at the push of a button. The same, irate Stormtrooper enters your cell, but you remained still as a stone. His boot harshly bumps into your knee.
“Hey,” he nudged. “Stand up!”
Nothing.
Again, he kicked your knee, hard enough for it to bruise in a few minutes.
When he’s had about enough, he kicked you in the stomach—he made it precise for the tip of his boot to rupture your gut. As you were weak—which he took advantage of—you curled up, hugging yourself with your arms coiled around your torso, you writhed in pain while supporting your entire weight with one hand planted on the floor.
“Don’t make me hit you again—though I wouldn’t even need a reason!“ he snarled.
You sharply, nasally inhaled; fingernails scratching against the dirty metal floor of the cell as you wait out for the pain to alleviate. Your eyes flicked open and your head jerked up, shooting the Stormtrooper an unwelcoming, hateful look in the eye—he didn’t want to admit it, but he flinched when he saw your bloodshot eyes: dark circles framing it, and the linings swelling in a burning pink hue.
“Come on, Jedi, we got a long ahead of—”
A soft rumble in the air hummed around the cell. Apathetic eyes stared at the Stormtrooper, watching him gag, desperately gasp for air through the barely-breathable helmet, and claw at his neck. He submitted to his knees, in the same level as you sitting down leisurely in the middle of the room, and it’s as though you two saw eye-to-eye—through that black tinted visor, he catches an arrogant smirk curling at the corner of your mouth, and he realizes too late that he’s crossed you.
You were neither a Jedi nor an Inquisitor. For now, you were something in between. Your madness is basically limbo.
You slowly raise your hand, your fingers are curled in a chokehold but there was still a gap around them, though it didn’t stay that long because with an abrupt closing motion of the hand—a popping sound came from the Stormtrooper, his head had twisted to an abnormal angle, and then his corpse made a loud thud that alarmed his companion.
“Hey, what’s going on over th—?”
Horrified, the Stormtrooper choked on the last words of his sentence. He stood there frozen in the hallway, contemplating whether to step inside to pull the dead Stormtrooper out of the cell; his course of action was to contact the maintenance assigned to the prison block to get you. The crew was equally afraid of you, but since they know in themselves that they’ve never crossed you, they’ve got nothing to fear—although it’s the way you look at people is what scares them, it’s rather more of an upward glare than a look.
Minutes later, the Second Brother strolls into the prison block as if it was some kind of leisurely pastime. At his command, the ray-shield disappeared and he let himself in your cell.
“Hello, little thorn, can’t be late for your daily exercise,”
“Says who?”
“Says me, the Seventh Sister, the Fifth Brother, and the Grand Inquisitor,”
“I’ve never seen the Grand Inquisitor. Though, none of you have autonomy over me.”
The Second Brother stood still for a brief second, his shoulders rose as he took in a big sigh. The hand behind his back hoisted to his helmet, the duraplast clicked and the mechanisms of the mask hissed as it loosened up. This was your first time seeing the bare face of the Inquisitor.
A human male, his fair skin was an open book written with scars and bruises—a few of which were by your own hand during the exercises—a pair of brown irises twinkled but you detect the apathy in them—the expression in them was a dramatic contrast to what you imagined him to be without that mask. He seems to be growing out his shaven head, there was a short yet noticeable length of hair. From his complexion, you wagered he’d be in his thirties. He bent down while keeping his helmet in one hand and tried to parlay with you in getting out of your cell.
“While you sit in these sorry walls, we have perfect autonomy over you,” he raises his free hand, a single finger extended. For each word or two, he poked your forehead to make sure you got the point. “No matter what you think.”
“You’re still not going to make me,”
He did a series of facial expressions to highlight his mock pensiveness: rolling his eyes, bobbing his head as he made a squeaking noise with his tongue against his teeth.
“Well, we don’t have the time to be very difficult, little thorn,” he clicked. “Unless, of course, we can ask your sweet Cal Kestis to make some arrange—!”
In the blink of an eye, you repeated the same action with the Second Brother, only this time you’re using two hands to choke him using the Force. They’ve exploited your mind by using Cal and whatever predicate they can come up with to trigger you—and they loved it when you’re easily stimulated by the mere mention of his name.
They’ve fashioned you into their personal time bomb and plaything altogether, saying the “magic word” to make a puppet of you and your emotions.
“Provoke me again with his name and what you plan to do with him—it’s your neck I’m snapping next!” you angrily growled.
The Second Brother tried to fight your chokehold, but he did it with more grace and dignity that he can afford. It was never your intention to instill fear, but your aggression is what cements it to everyone in this fortress. You expected him to gag, but you heard hints of snickering while he claws at his neck; regardless, you continued choking him.
A few more minutes lapsed before you decided to let him go out of your own volition. He coughed as he fell lower to your level, you’re practically looking down on him right now as he catches his breath.
Look how pathetic… you thought.
Over the Second Brother’s shoulder, you spotted the Fifth Brother standing in front of the door, unamused and grumbling like a freighter’s engine. You shot him the same bitter look you gave to the Stormtrooper and the Second Brother.
“One last time, [Y/N], I personally don’t like repeating myself—or anyone else, for that matter.”
The Second Brother regained his composure, dusted off his armor, and stood by. When you didn’t obey the Fifth Brother, he took matters to his own hands—literally. Shoving past the Second Brother, the other Inquisitor dragged you out of your cell.
“Get up and follow.”
The Second Brother hooked his arm around yours and followed the Fifth Brother.
“Where are you taking me?”
“No questions. Just follow.”
They escorted you to the dojo again. Waiting at the center of the room is the Seventh Sister, this time she wasn’t wielding an electrobaton, she was holding her own red haloed saber. The Second Brother shoved you away to face her; she raises her hand, in it was a weapon and she tossed it to you.
Your fingers trembled, you reluctantly wrapped them around the hilt. The steely coldness eventually warmed up around your palm. The glossy, dark grey finish distorted your reflection when you held it level to your face. The female Inquisitor stepped back—so did her two other companions—and ignited her saber. Your heart dropped to your feet when you heard two more buzz in succession. All of a sudden, your knees felt wobbly, you spun around, looking at the crimson rods of light glowering over their sinister faces.
“Go on and fight us,” the Seventh Sister initiated.
She didn’t want to hear anything from you. She immediately put herself in a stance, and then the two other followed. Having no choice, you did the same—one push of a button ignited a single beam, until you spotted the second switch and the latter half emitted out of its cylinder.
The three of them ganged up on you, but it was the Second Brother and Sixth Sister who were more aggressive with you. The Fifth Brother fought with great calculation and precision, conserving his strength for the next attack only to overwhelm you while assisting the other two. Lost in the thrill of the fight, the same burst of energy returned to you.
It was addictive. You didn’t know it was poisonous, and yet you kept on using it to your advantage. You know it to be wrong, but you cannot will yourself to break away from it. Like a leech, you’ve bitten into it.
And you liked it.
“Raaarrgh!!” the Seventh Sister roared as she swings down her saber.
You deflected the two with both ends of your given saber and pushed them back. You recompose yourself into a much more proper stance, then fixate on the Seventh Sister; you’re able to match her strength—if not her caliber—and equal your odds in this duel. However, you still have the Second Brother to deal with.
“Whoa, look at her go, Sister!!” the Second Brother cackled.
The Seventh Sister comes charging right towards you, but she was blocked at the last second, and before she could even pull away to afford an attack—you planted your sole of your shoe flat onto your stomach. She staggered and clutched her torso with one hand; quickly, you turn your attention to the Second Brother, who was evidently much feistier than Seventh Sister. He took most of your time—a pair of dual-ended sabers cutting through the air, their lights curving as they’re swung by the wielders, and sparks flew to light up the rest of the room.
“I guess the tough girl is back now, huh, little thorn!? Cal Kestis would be so impressed! You could practically kill him for abandoning you!”
That did it. Relying again once more on that intoxicating energy that granted you the strength of five Jedi Masters at best, a massive push of the Force sent everyone flying—even the hulking, six-feet-or-so Fifth Brother wasn’t spared by that immense wave of energy!
Only you remained standing in the circle, you looked around—there were so many targets to choose from! You had a vendetta for each one of them. You strode towards the one who gave out the taunt first—the Second Brother—while he was still shaking off the nausea, he reacted at the last minute and lousily deflected your hits.
Left end, right end… they all flung to his direction and he could not keep up with the speed of your wielding while suppressed of fighting space. He could only block you for so long.
When you sensed his sword arm becoming weak, his jawbone met the hard sole of your shoe and rendered him incapacitated. Next was the Seventh Sister, she was just about to hoist herself up back on her feet until she saw you sprinting toward her—she had time, albeit little of it, to evade you but your sabers still clashed. She kept up with your pace—all the twirls and flashy footwork, she matched it all—but she was overwhelmed by how heavy your attacks dealt. You bore your weight on her as she deflected you and never has she ever felt so intimidated in all her life! Your eyes—now devoid of empathy and flooded with rage—blended perfectly with the redness of the saber. You were satisfied when you saw the Seventh Sister struggling, it’s plastered all over her face!
“Oh, look at you, the shrewd sister is overtaken,” you taunted, basically parroting the Second Brother’s trademark singsong. “By a damn prisoner! Hah! How does it feel to have your pride stabbed right into its gut, huh?”
Before she could even react and respond, you staggered the female Mirialan again and this time she stayed down—your fist to her cheek made sure of it. The third and final enemy: the Fifth Brother. It was brawn against brains. Strength versus dexterity. After all, what good is brute strength if you can’t even utilize it efficiently?
“Come on, big guy—I’m wide open!”
The Fifth Brother wasn’t a fan of being taunted. He charges on like a deranged Reek, his saber brandished up in the air, ready for an overhead strike but you slipped away in the blink of an eye and slashed him from behind. All three of them exchanged glances with one another and then nodded in agreement, as if they’ve had a Plan Z all along; three Inquisitors come charging towards you, but before they could lay a finger on your hair, you planted your fist hard into the tiled floor—your knuckles swelled and then bled the same time the tiles cracked.
At first, the cracks stayed only within the radius of your fist, until they multiplied and spread. From thin crosshairs to actual breakages along the surface, the marble broke into shards and was sent flying with the current of the Force energy that sourced from your punch—like seashells tugged by the waves as they’re beached to the shoreline. The shards cut through the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother’s cheeks, they had to shield themselves with their hands—consequentially getting their palms and fingers nicked as well.
It was too strong for them to fight, rendering you untouchable until the wind died down. The loaned lightsaber which you used so skillfully fell from your grasp and clattered to the floor.
Silence. Soft, tired gasping of air. And then a single, slow series of applause followed.
Everyone searched for the applauder.
The Grand Inquisitor.
He was hauntingly terrifying, alright. Ashen as bone, blood-red streaks painted on parts of his face, and a pair of topaz-gold eyes. He walked past the felled Inquisitors and stood in front of you—his height obviously lumbered over you that you had to step back to fully acknowledge him and look him in the eyes without breaking your back.
“Well, well,” he cooed, bringing his hands behind his back. “It seems that we have a new face among us.”
You panted one last time, and used the Force to bring the haloed saber back to your hand. You poised your demeanor in front of the Pau’an, and with a dark, sinister grace—you bend your knee, the black, weathered saber is presented in your hand to the Grand Inquisitor. A smirk curled along his ribbed skin, showing a corner of his jagged, pointed teeth.
“Welcome to the fray, Twelfth Sister.”

Thea woke up alone. Not that she was surprised. After last night, she would have probably had another breakdown if someone had gone in bed with her. She was sore and dirty as mentally than physically.
She braced herself, stood up, wobbling on her feet and worked her way to the bathroom. She stood in the shower naked and turned the water on. The cold water hit her back but instead of shrieking as she usually does, she stood still. The low temperature brought back some images from the Mjolnir true power: Ultimate strength.
She squatted down and washed her private parts thoroughly. Now she was thinking about it, it wasn't the first time Mjöllnir had reached her. There was some times when she’d thought her tinnitus worsened. She was so used to abnormal background noises that she hadn't really paid any attention to the source of the buzzing. Only when she had been in dire need of help, the Hammer had been louder and had came straight to her.
After going through the motion of the memories, she could now understand what Thor meant about fellowship. It’s true that companions were like an only body, fighting, loving and grieving together. It wasn’t like a wife and her husband.
No.
It was a stronger feeling, a link that couldn't be broken, even by death.
It didn’t lessen Thea’s pain and anger. This boiling sensation rising in the pit of her stomach didn't come from her. She barely had enough strength to do her daily ablutions. She surely couldn't muster an ounce of pure anger.
Thea dried herself with her mom’s favorite fuzzy towel. She pressed her nose in it and sniffed the scent of her mom’s washing liquid. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Mom, where are you? I need you, she thought, sadly. Tears pooled in her closed eyes, but she kept them trapped. You are strong, you are strong, she repeated as mantra.
She took a last deep breath, straightened her back and went into her closet. She didn’t want to be her habitual flamboyant self today. She felt so much sorrow an emptiness that she couldn’t bear seeing them looking at her, ogling her like an object. Even though it was her fault in the first place.
As she entered the occupied kitchen, all their conversations came to a halt. Mjöllnir was at Thor’s feet and Thea…God, she had to calm down.
Don't look at the Hammer, don't look at the damn Hammer, she repeated firmly in her head.
“Hey,” she waved her hand and sat on the only empty chair, between Bucky and Steve. Mjöllnir was buzzing, raging in her heart. And just like that, she could hear each sound, each breath, see each molecule, feel the earth under the building. The oppressing feeling stopped as quick as it started. She took a shuddered breath and tried to keep it calm. Would she ever going to get used to its presence in her mind?
“Thea,” Bucky asked worried.
She hummed.
“Are you okay?”
Now, you care, she thought viciously. She blinked shocked by her mental outburst. As she checked her feelings, she finally noticed the anger. It seeped in her mind under the form of a vicious snake in the grass. It was slowly hissing, body moving silently through the grass before it attacked. She contemplated the snake with interrogation. She knew it’d never hurt her. That, she was sure of. Its eyes gleamed in the darkness of her thoughts like two stars in a dark sky.
It hissed before going back into her darkness. She was about to follow it –
“Thea?” Tony asked, concerned.
She opened her eyes and blinked a few times to erase the image of the snake. She admitted her defeat when it wouldn’t disappear. The snake had wanted to tell her something. Its hiss had made sense. It had resonated in her soul like an indubitable fact. But when she tried to remember what it truly meant; the words wouldn’t come.
She shook her head, feeling slightly annoyed, and raised her eyes. They all looked…really worried. Thea sighed and pushed down her unrequited feelings. They didn’t feel sad because they loved her but because she was their ward and Rhodey would kick their ass. She smirked at that thought. He so would. And maybe hers too. At that thought her smile diminished.
“Are you okay?” Natasha asked calmly.
“’m fine,” she replied while eating her waffles.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Nat’", she replied, exasperated. Thea met Natasha's piercing eyes. She knew that if she tried to smile, Nat’ would detect the fakeness. She was surprised the other hadn’t already noticed. For superheroes, they were shams.
“Ok,” Natasha conceded, still staring at her.
Bruce also was observing her. After last night, she didn't want to think about his kindness and care. She wanted to stay strong in front of them. She knew deep down that they were not all black or white but a vibrant grey color. They had never really hurt and that’s why she had to take drastic measures. She couldn’t fell into this emotional rollercoaster. There was no place for her in their relationship. That’s why her only solution was avoidance. At first, she had wanted to call that fleeing, but she didn’t want to seem like a coward. Then, a retreat would imply that they had attacked, and she was forced to back off, which was untrue. Only the term avoidance put them on the same level.
She could feel Bucky and Steve’s inquisitive eyes watching her every move. She was starting to feel claustrophobic. Her body was tensed, her movements jerky and her mind ran circles. She willed her body to relax. The last thing she wanted was to set the two nonagenarian Cerberus on her track.
“Anyway, we saw the video and you could have waited for us!” Clint complained, raising his fork in the air. Eggs flew around him. Nat’ sent him a death glare. He grimaced and lowered his fork slowly, mumbling an apology. Only when he put back his fork on the table, Nat’ turned back to her.
“Next time,” Bucky chuckled, somewhat still awkwardly. There was some edge in his voice. Thea pretended to not have noticed his worried glances. She was almost sure that he knew how she really felt or had at least some suspicions.
“Indeed, next time,” repeated Thor. He leaned toward Bucky and kissed him on the lips. Thea recoiled slightly. As she gazed away, she fell on Natasha’s assessing eyes. Instead of trying to engage with her, Thea put a large portion of her waffle in her mouth and focused on eating the rest of her plate, quickly.
A few days prior, she had been more than excited to listen to them talking about her like that, negotiating what they could do, her safewords and kinks. But now she could mostly feel the fear and disgust as she listened to them planning another go with her. She only felt more ashamed when she felt a part of her getting aroused. What was wrong with her?
Normally, her kink laid strongly into that kind of play. But the feeling she had for each of them was more than lust and she couldn’t…she swallowed her sob and teary eyes. She pretended to choke to hide her tears. Steve slapped a few times onto her back.
“Here, here, it’s okay. Breathe deeply now.”
She accepted the glass of water he handed her.
“It happens to the best of us," he said softly.
“Your gag reflex is off, little girl,” Bucky joked, his inquisitive eyes still on her. "Last night you had no problem taking us, right Stevie?"
Steve's face became as red as the rage flowing in her veins. She was used to the lewd comments and would normally be aroused. But today, it rubbed her the wrong way. The snake hissed louder to push her to strike. She dabbed her mouth with a tissue. The triangular head appeared briefly behind her eyelids, remining her of its ominous presence.
"Really, Steven? I arrived a little too late to enjoy the sight of you chasing your relief in Thea's throat", Thor complained.
Thea forced herself to drink and unclenched her hand. She pretended to smile, not looking at anyone specifically. She thanked God for the glass of water. Without she would have never been able to hide her grimace. And if the situation wasn’t already nauseating Mjollnir was singing to her ears, calling her, pressing her to lift it. At the verge of giving in and reaching for it, she quickly stood up.
“Whoa there,” Steve exclaimed, stabilizing her.
“Sorry," she said quickly. "I…have forgotten my meeting. I’m going to be late.” She took her plate and glass and put it in the dishwasher. “I will be out for the day.”
“You don’t have to rush like that. I could tell Happy to drive you there,” Tony offered.
Thea could hear the murmurs between Natasha and Bruce and tuned them out. They had figured you out, you have to bounce, she thought hastily.
“Oh, I thought you’d stay with us,” Thor offered, as if he really cared.
She didn’t hate any of them. But she hated how they made her feel. Hated to feel cared off when Thor was using this soft, caring tone. When all of this was pretense. She hid her trembling fingers in her hoodie pockets.
“We’d take care of you,” he continued, his eyes drifted to Bucky and the rest of them. The lust in his eyes turned into longing, love, which was easily reciprocated.
The Hammer moved a little. Enough to calm her down and reassure her. They don’t care about you. They don’t really like you’d wanted to.
“No,” she said firmly, surprising all of them. “I have things to do. Don’t wait for me tonight. Actually, we’ll probably see each other in two days”, she finished swiftly and took off. She didn’t let them chase her, and she made a beeline to the elevator.
It was working. She was almost free. Jarvis opened the doors and let her in.
She heard quick footsteps and Nat's voice.
It was too late.

Mega’s Top 2020 Anime
The year 2020 is finally coming to an end. It’s been an unusual year to say the least. Coronavirus more or less almost cancelled the entire spring anime season, which lead to a strange anime schedule for the rest of the year since delays have trickle down effects to what was in the pipeline. To be completely honest, this was not a good year for anime. I watched only a handful of very good shows, and the rest were mediocre at best. The top 5 shows I talk about here are definitely worth watching at least.
So with the introduction out of the way, lets get into this. As usual this list is just my opinions. Don’t take it too seriously.
1) Kaguya-sama Love is War? (Season 2)
The second season of Kaguya-sama took everything from season 1 and brought it up a level. The visual gags became more impressive, the voice acting was just as good, and the show is delivering sharper writing as we get deeper into the manga.
Season 2 added two new notable aspects to the show. First, a new member to the main cast by the name of Iino. She adds a new angle to exploit for the skits as someone who adheres strictly to the rules. This often means Iino and Kaguya frequently bump heads. In fact how they interpret a situation can be entirely different, which creates numerous misunderstandings between them. Second, Kaguya-sama began expanding the skits into long form stories. There were a series of skits that form an arc spanning an entire episode, or in some cases multiple episodes. Episode 11 was the highlight of the season where Ishigami confronted his past to overcome the bad stigma surrounding his character. Additionally, the story added depth to his connection with Shirogane while making us realize there was more to Ishigami than meets the eye. Kaguya and Shirogane also both became a little closer as the tangled web of their schemes yielded unexpected results at times.
Kaguya-Sama has an ova and season 3 planned. I eagerly look forward to seeing what new crazy situations the characters find themselves in.
2) A Certain Scientific Railgun T (Season 3)
After waiting 6 years since the conclusion of season 2, the Railgun anime finally returned to adapt two more arcs from the manga.
The first half was a Railgun version of the Daissheisai Festival arc. This version focuses on a completely different event in the arc with a story involving Misaki, Misaka, and Dolly. It pulls us deeper into the story threads established in the Level Upper and Sisters arc of what the scientists were doing out of the public eye. We meet the original Misaka clone and how Misaki came to meet her which adds a new layer to the current Misaka and Misaki relationship that we never knew. We see how Misaki is also a victim of the dark experiments occurring behind the scenes in Academy City. The experiment to turn Misaka into a level 6 was a very hype moment. Railgun’s Daissheisai Festival arc definiely hit all the right notes.
The second half of Railgun season 3 was the Dream Ranker arc. Like in previous seasons, I found the 2nd cour arc to be weaker than the first half. Indian Poker is a fun concept, but didn’t cleanly tie into the overall story. I also found it weird how special cards that can exchange dreams suddenly exist out of nowhere. Additionally, this arc brought it characters from the Accelerator spin-off which I wasn’t familiar with. It had a few cool and funny moments scattered throughout. The final fight at least brought the conflict to a satisfying conclusion. The only thing holding back Railgun for me like always is my lack of knowledge of the greater Raildex universe. Hopefully this won’t be the last we see of Railgun in animated form because I picked up the manga and the next arc is pretty neat.
3) The Journey of Elaina
The Journey of Elania is an anthology-centric anime where we follow Elania on her adventures. The first episode is a prologue to how she became a witch and the origins of her ambitions. Episode 2-onwards follow a fairly straightforward template of Elania arriving at a new location. She notices something isn’t quite right or learns about something from a local. As the story unfolds, Elania often takes a backseat role and opts to watch things playout. An anime of this style always brings a mixed bag to the table with the kind of stories that are told within the universe. Each episode/adventure is only loosely connected through the main character Elania traveling to a new location, but otherwise they are mostly independent besides a handful of recurring characters.
Naturally this format means there are both great and not so good episodes. There are bitter sweet tales, comedic, and even a few darker entries mixed within this show. In particular, there were a few standout episodes that cemented this show as something worth watching. Episode 7 was a comedy episode split into two halves. One half showed how two towns divided by a wall were ironically doing the same thing to the wall on each side. The second half recalled how Elania accidentally started a grape stomping tradition in a tiny village. Then there was episode 9, the darkest entry of the show so far, when Elania went back in time to help someone save their childhood friend. However, this person came to realize she hardly knew what her childhood friend was really like. Lastly, the last episode was unexpectedly deep where Elania met various alternate versions of herself and had to confront a dark version spawn from the events in episode 8. It showed how her journey can take all sorts of directions if events had transpired even a little differently.
A high part of the appeal to me was never knowing what kind of story we would get each week. Was it going to be light-hearted? Serious? Would it focus on Elania or not? Her adventures were certainly full of unexpected happenings. The light novels are 17 volumes in and still going. I wouldn’t mind seeing more if they ever wanted to make another season.
4) Tonikaku Kawaii
From the prolific author Kenjiro Hata comes an anime adaptation of his newest work under the “Crunchyroll Originals” label. The story is simply about a guy who is head over heels for his new wife and can’t get over how awesome it is living with her. Tonikaku Kawaii is a simple show that chooses to highlight the little moments between our main couple Nasa and Tsukasa. We go through all sorts of everyday events with them such as the act of buying a ring, a new television, bedding, and meeting each other’s family. All the characters are so earnest you can’t help but enjoy their silly banter. There is little to no drama here to drive the story forward. You just get to enjoy a newlywed couple discovering new things about each other as they go through everyday life.
However, at the end of the day Tonikaku Kawaii is far from complete and is honestly the type of show that likely wouldn’t make my list most years. It hardly scratched its overarching story during the 1 cour run. The thing that put it over the top for me was simply how likable each of its characters were. They all present their emotions like an open book and you come to enjoy the little quirks of each one. I was slightly confused at how this show became a “Crunchyroll Original” when anything by Hata would have probably gotten an anime sooner or later. There are plenty of other Weekly Shonen Sunday series that could really use an outside force to help them get animated. I can only hope it did well enough for Crunchyroll to consider investing into more from the magazine .
5) Ahiru no Sora
As usual, my list usually contains at least 1 show that began in the previous year. Ahiru no Sora is an anime that not a lot of people watched, but became one of my favorites each week. This is a 4 cour basketball series about a main character named Sora who is too short for basketball. Despite this set-back, he has a deep passion for the game imparted from his mother and wishes to someday find the same success as she did at the sport. The story begins when he enrolls in a new school and has to build the basketball club from scratch. However, the catch is the basketball team is basically non-existent. He ends up creating a team from a group of unlikely people: the ones who were bullying him. Ahiru no Sora presents a down to earth human side to the sport. There are no fantasy or supernatural elements found in this story. It follows a group of rough around the edges guys whose lives gets back in order through playing basketball together.
All of the main characters go through a decent amount of growth as their personal stories are explored, and Sora especially is taken through a series of events that allow his character to grow more than anyone. I was pleasantly surprised at how emotional it got at times. There was some real heart put into this series. In the middle of the show it genuinely felt the team had hit rock bottom. They lost a major game, the club room was lit on fire, and Sora lost his mother all right in a row. It was the recovery from that period and how each member matured from their experiences that solidified Ahiru no Sora as one of the top shows this year. The only thing holding back the show is that it's left incomplete since the manga is on-going (and actually on hiatus at the moment). I hope there will be an opportunity down the road to have more episodes.

Disappointments of 2020
1) Deca Dence
I enjoyed Death Parade, Mob Psycho 100, and Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer was pretty good too. So I figured another original anime from Tachikawa Yuzuru would be something I would like, and yet Deca Dence barely resonated with me. I could never wrap my mind around the setting of the show where robots would enter an alternate world called “Deca Dence” for sport or how these robots had a human persona in the game. The humans were effectively NPCs in the game to the eyes of the robots. The show no doubt had a story it wanted to tell, and it certainly went through the plot beats it wanted to hit, yet I could never get invested in the show. I’m still looking forward to whatever Tachikawa Yuzuru does next. I’ll just consider this as something was not for me.
2) The Day I Became God
This show marks Jun Meada’s 3rd anime original project with P.A. Works. I understand that Angel Beats and Charlotte are flawed shows, but that did not stop them from being enjoyable for me. This unfortunately did not apply to The Day I Became God. At a base level it has many of the usual troupes you would expect from a Jun Meada title: the humor, baseball, an emotionally driven story. The place where this shows failed hard was having no backbone to back up the story it was trying to present. I enjoyed the comedy in the early episodes quite a bit and was somewhat intrigued by a subplot in the background that was slowly creeping up on the main plot. Ending each episode on a countdown to the end of the world helped to keep a looming sense of unease during the early part of the show.
Then in typical Jun Meada fashion, the plot of the show hit all at once. Episode 9 was the big climax where the subplot and main plot collided to send the show into its “true” storyline. The hacker kid who uncovered everything about Hina in the early part was poorly utilized and underdeveloped. So when he joins our main group in episode 10 for a short period of time, his presence makes very little sense. I can only describe that part as a 10 hour VN plot condensed into 10 minutes. The male lead Narukami has almost no personal stake in the story. Hina is hilarious in the comedy episodes, but lacks any sufficient character arc built up to carry her into the final section. Jun Meada is trying to sell this as a love story between Narukami and Hina, but I just don’t see it. Narukami spent at least half the summer trying to wow his childhood friend only to suddenly change at the last minute. It felt so haphazardly put together.
The Day I Became God is an extremely bare bones Jun Meada story. It goes through the motions of similar elements to his previous works, but comes out feeling emotionally hollow. While Angel Beats and Charlotte also felt rushed in the grand scheme, I can at least say he got the emotional aspect right. This will be remembered as one of, if not Jun Meada’s weakest title.

Top OPs/EDs of the Year
1) Jujutsu Kaisen Opening 1 - The song is great, but it’s the visuals that really sell this opening. Each shot is brilliantly connected to showcase how everything in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen is layered. There is far more than what meets in the eye in our surroundings. Curses and humans co-mingle more than you might think.
2) A Certain Scientific Railgun T Opening 1 - There still hasn’t been a bad Railgun opening yet. Flipside once again delivers a song that once again never failed gets me in the mood for the episode each week. The visuals highlight some of the best action moments in the arc too.
3) Black Clover Opening 10 - Unlike the other songs on the list this year, this a slower somber song. It always makes me think of Nero’s backstory and how the story was leading up to the fight versus the devil. The black and white aesthetic with rain conveys how everything is laid bare for this major story climax.
4) Kaguya-Sama Love is War? Opening - Just like how this season is more character focused, the opening animation is basically a 90 second skit. It never fails to get to get me in the mindset for the hijinks that are ahead in the episode. The song itself is also a great follow up to the previous opening.
5) Rent-a-Girlfriend Opening - It’s a colorful opening that highlights the best aspects of each character. It completely conveys what the show is about with some nice music. I love how fun and upbeat this opening is. It definitely helped to set the tone for the episodes each week.

....and so, that brings 2020 to a close. The North American anime scene is shifting once again with Sony buying out Crunchyroll. Hopefully the result of the merger keeps Crunchyroll as an entity alive. I’ll be curious to see how everything shakes out. In the coming year I am most looking forward to Chainsaw Man’s anime. The manga is quite an experience and anime viewers will be spinning their heads over learning how such a series was published in Weekly Shonen Jump. I think it has a good chance of being one of the most talked about shows in the new year.
Lets hope 2021 is a good one.

Episode Six
Okay first of all, massive spoiler warning!!
Snaaaaaaatch gaaaaaaame!!! I love snatch game. It's such a good opportunity to shine, and be hilarious, and show us what you can do! It's also the challenge queens have the most time to prepare for, so it's always interesting to see who actually comes prepared...
Also, the runway this week was incredible! I think it's been the best week so far for runway looks, so many of them were sooooo stunning! Who knew that a Frozen theme would bring out the best of the season so far??
Okay, let's get into the breakdown.
1. Aiden Zhane
Oh my god. I am so so so so so so so so glad to see Aiden finally fucking LEEEEEEAVE. It's been a journey guys, but we got here. I am so excited not to have to see that little black wig anymore. Honestly, there was nothing good about her performance this week. I was actually really excited to see someone do Patricia Quinn, it's cool seeing people do references that I hadn't even thought of and salute older parts of LGBTQ history. The reality, though, made me want to jump off a building. It was sooo cringy and sad. There was nothing Patricia about it, she didn't even bother doing the accent. How are you gonna stand in the work room and say "oh I know her, I had lunch with her" and deliver a performance like that?? And also, every question she was just like "I don't even know where I am am!" And it's like... dementia isn't funny. It was just hard to watch.
Her runway was, I think, the best she's ever looked. The wig was still shaky af, but her makeup was really pretty, and her padding was really good. The dress was lovely, but it wasn't very...creative. It was just a blue dress, and the yeti concept was only done from the neck up. It kind of felt like she went to the competition with just the dress, then she saw what everyone else was putting on and was like "oh damn I've got to make a concept out of this somehow!"
Also that lipsync though... it was like watching Vivienne Pinay and Honey Mahogany again, let's just say that.
Tl;dr: she deserved to go, and I'm glad to see her go.
2. Brita
Brita, Brita, Brita. Still bitter af. All she does is talk shit on other people and like...maybe if you stayed in your lane and focused on what you were doing, you wouldn't be in the bottom all the time? Just a thought. Shes another one where it felt like she just didn't do enough research on her character. It's so disappointing, and kinda inexcusable - you know what's coming, you have so much time to prepare and you still don't bother? I don't care for that kind of attitude. Also if she mentions that she won Entertainer of the Year one more time I'm gonna lose my mind. I don't care that you won it! Show me why you won it! Show me why you deserve to win this! I just haven't seen anything from Brita that I've enjoyed. I'm disappointed and underwhelmed.
Her look on the runway was also a bit underwhelming, it was a pretty gown, but it was almost and exact copy of Eureka's glitter look. That comparison has been made already, but it's true. We've seen it, why would you bring a copy of a gown from just 2 seasons ago? Underwhelming.
Her lipsync was also not that good, but she was against Aiden, so of course she won. Excited to see her go next week though!
3. Crystal Methyd
Whew, Crystal was a rollercoaster this week! Poppy was a really tough choice. I didn't know who she was at all, but I looked up a few videos of her after the episode and now I get what Crystal was going for. She actually did a fairly good job of what she was going for, but it just wasn't the right character for snatch game. We all know RuPaul has very simple humour, anything big, slapstick, edgy, all that stuff. The humour Crystal was going for could have been really funny (if I knew more about Poppy, that's on me), but RuPaul was never going to get it. And also, she was trying to do a robotic character like 2 seats down from Gigi, who was also doing a robotic character and killing it, so that's an extra level of difficulty.
Having said all of that. Crystal. Was the best. On. The. Runway. That outfit was incredible! And her makeup was so stunning! And the hair was perfect with it! She absolutely killed that runway, and I was gagged by it. Crystal has turned out so many looks, and I Love It. That runway 100% saved her from the bottom 2 and I could not be happier about it. So proud of her.
One other thing though, I am so bored of the El DeBarge thing. Move on, Ru. Crystal is far far more than a mullet.
4. Gigi Goode
Gigi is an absolute powerhouse this season. Her choice to play a robot was bold, but I live a queen with confidence. And she was confident, she knew what she was doing, she did her research, and she killed the snatch game. I'm so proud of her. One thing I will say, I swear they called the robot Maria, but I thought that human looking AI robot was called Sophia? Maybe there was a copyright issue. Anyway, her performance was so hilarious! The struggling with the cards, the calling everyone a bitch, the mispronouniation of vagina, I loved it all. She came with references, she came prepared, and I stan.
Her look was really great, but I almost feel like it was a little repetitive? I don't know, I just feel like I wasn't surprised by it. It was cute, it was perfectly fitted, there were really gorgeous little details about it, but it was the shape and style I expected from her. Maybe it's because she's set the bar so high leading up to this point, I was just a bit "meh" with her look this week.
She still fully deserved to win, and she did a fantastic job this week.
4. Heidi N Closet
Heidi also did a good job this week. Her Leslie Jones was a safe performance, she made me laugh, she had the look down, I was not at all mad at it. Was it perfect? No. Was it good? Absolutely. I enjoyed it. I'm glad she didn't do Phaedra Parkes. I really don't enjoy when Ru tries to change their characters in the walk through. They've brought information, and references, and preparation (most of them); and you want them to throw all that away and do someone else just because you think so? No. I will grant that sometimes Ru points them in the right direction when they're choosing between 2 characters - but I don't like when he just pulls a character out of nowhere for them.
Heidi's look was also really great; she was giving me 2018 Met Gala Rihanna but in Winter. Her makeup was stunning, she looked so pretty. The only thing I didn't love was the shoes. I kind of wish she'd just gone for a white or silver pump. The fur was too much for me.
Good week for Heidi, definitely a safe performance, I'm glad for her.
5. Jacki Cox
Jackie 👏 came 👏 prepared 👏 I have never watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, I was only vaguely aware of Lisa Rinna nefore the snatch game, but I still found her performance so funny! She looked just like her, she sold me who Lisa Rinna was really quickly, so I was able to laugh at the rest of her jokes. I didn't specifically know Lisa Rinna, but we all know a woman like that, so I could still get the humour. I might not have caught all the references, but it was still funny. That's how you play snatch game. You need to be able to make people laugh even if they don't know who you're actually portraying. I absolutely loved Jackie this week.
Her runway look was also stunning! I loved the snowflake, I loved her makeup, and I adored her hair. Jackie is so good at serving something so different every week but still sticking to her brand and her signature. I love Jackie.
6. Jaida Essence Hall
Jaida's Cardi B was really good! She looked just like her, sounded just like her, had her humour down... absolutely solid performance from Jaida.
Her look this week was also soooo beautiful! She's such am absolutely stunning queen, her makeup skills are incredible, she knows her body, she knows what suits her, and she rocks it every week.
The only thing for me with Jaida is I feel almost a little...disconnected from her. I just don't feel like I've seen the vulnerability from her like we've seen from Heidi, or Jackie. And that doesn't mean I want her to tell some horrific story from childhood, I just mean that when we see her she's always on, yknow? And I get that it's a tv show, and a competition show at that; I just wish we could see her humanity a little bit. Having said that, I totally get that queens of colour (and particularly black queens) get so much hatred from the drag race fandom, and I completely understand that it would be difficult to open up and be vulnerable after seeing what other black queens have been through during and after the show.
Nevertheless, she is utterly incredible and so deserving of a top spot. She's a real contender for winner of season 12.
7. Jan
I love Jan. I love her so much. Shes so excited to be there, she's working so hard, and I appreciate it so much. Her Bernadette Peters was not great. Or maybe it was, I have no idea who she is. And she didn't sell me, like Jackie did. It was kind of a shame. I feel like Jan has the talent to have done almost anyone, and she just picked someone that I feel like took too much explaining. Still a solid performance - for me she was on a level with Heidi. Solid performance, solid runway, good week.
I did like Jan's runway look more than Heidi's though, I loved the concept. Jan is another one who has pulled out something very different every week, but still stays distinctly Jan. I love her makeup as well! Jan doesn't get enough recognition for her makeup skills, she's really talented, she paints beautiful faces, and is not afraid to get artistic and high fashion.
8. Widow Von Du
I love Widow so much, but everything she did this week was just slightly off. I thought her Ike & Tina performance was actually a bit of a shame, I think she focused too much on having a gimmick that her performance suffered. The thing about switching characters in snatch game is that both characters have to be really good (and equally good), otherwise it just feels a little messy. Her performances just weren't quite there this week. I wish she'd just picked one and spent a little more time perfecting it.
Her runway also wasn't quite there. I loved the concept, she did something so different from everyone else, and I love when queens pull off a standout look. Her makeup and the ice on her face was also incredible, she honestly has the most beautiful face. I just wish that dress had hit the floor. I wish the skirt had been a little more full (maybe more petticoats?), and it had hit the floor. Widow does have this awful habit of wearing ugly shoes - and if the gowns hit the floor it just wouldn't matter. It was a shame.
Still a solid week and a decent performance, don't get me wrong; I just keep wishing for her to really pull it out and succeed, and she's just slightly missing the mark for me at the moment.
Okay, now I'm gonna say something kind of controversial about this season; I wish Jan, Jackie, and Widow weren't on it. I wish they were on next season. I'm saying that because I think they're all so incredible, and I think they all could potentially win a season - if they weren't on with Gigi Goode and Sh***y P**. Gigi has been so unstoppable, and I love her, but she's kind of overpowering, and I really want to see someone other than her (or Sh***y P**) win a challenge. I mean, it's no secret that Sh***y P** was pre selected to be top 4, and this season has been geared towards her, so of course she's been winning challenges. It just has almost become like a 2 person competition, and it's a shame! Because there's so many other queens who deserve wins, and deserve recognition, and they're not getting it because the top 2 is like always those 2. I'm not mad at Gigi, bc she's slaying the competition and she's working really hard; I just feel like there's been seasons where Jackie, Jan, or Widow would have absolutely killed it and won, but this season they're just not getting the recognition they deserve. Just my opinion!

Fab-Five-Feb: Gordon
Hope you enjoy this Gordon-centric fic as his week comes to a close. Poor Alan didn’t even get a mention in this one after getting the spotlight last week. Thanks again @gumnut-logic for this challenge. I’ve used the prompt ‘no clothes’.
“Tell dad I’m going out for the night.” Gordon said casually to John, who was in the kitchen doing work for school. He was hoping he could get away without John asking any questions. He almost succeeded as John just nodded, heavily engrossed in the book he was reading but as he opened the door to leave John seemed to snap out of it.
“Wait, where are you going?” John gave him a suspicious look.
“Just to the lake with some friends.” Gordon shrugged.
John narrowed his eyes. “Which friends?”
Gordon rolled his eyes. “Do we need to do this again John?”
“Apparently we do.” John said straightening up in his chair. “Those guys are no good for you Gordon.”
“Whatever John, you’re just jealous because they’re not friends with you.”
“They are not your friends Gordon.”
There was the toot of a horn sounding outside.
Gordon gave John a quick wave as he headed out the door. “I’ll be home by 10, okay?”
He didn’t give John the chance to respond before he was running down the driveway.
“Hey Tracy, that your weirdo brother at the window?” Todd Davidson mocked as Gordon clambered into the back of the 4-by-4.
Gordon just gave a half-hearted laugh. He knew these guys didn’t get along with John but he was never going to sit and ridicule his older brother. Although…he also wasn’t at the stage where he was ready to stick his neck out to defend John either.
He really wanted to impress these guys. They were older than him, he’d only just started to get invited along to hang out with them. Todd was a senior, like John, and most of his friends were either also seniors or juniors, Gordon was the only sophomore going tonight. Apparently there was a huge party going on at the lake just 20 minutes out of town.
Gordon had gotten friendly with Todd after the older boy had witnessed a fight Gordon had gotten himself into with another Senior – a Senior that Todd wasn’t too keen on either apparently. Gordon had taken the guy down with no more than a bruised cheek in return. He had three older brothers – he knew how to handle himself in a fight.
Speaking of his brothers, they had all been less than pleased with his behaviour, that’s why when Todd came along singing his praises he’d soaked it up. Scott was just starting his training in the air force and Virgil was away at college so they didn’t have the same influence on him as they used to. His dad had been very distracted lately and was away on business a lot. John had told him his dad had a big project in the works. Gordon hadn’t cared enough to question it further.
As for John, his closest older brother had given him quite the lecture but Gordon brushed it off at the time. John was always warning him about the guys in his year but Gordon was pretty sure John just didn’t know how to have fun. Heck, he’d definitely never seen his older brother go out to a party like this. Even Scott and Virgil had gone to their fair share of parties in their high school days. So when Gordon got invited to one himself, he jumped on the opportunity.
It about 7pm so it was already dark outside. Gordon stared out the window as they reached the lake. They drove round it for about a mile before the car drew to a stop. Gordon looked out at the darkness confused.
“I thought you said this was going to be a party?” Gordon asked looking out on to the silent waterfront. He’d expected a bonfire and loud music and he couldn’t hide his disappointment.
Todd chuckled from the front seat. “Don’t worry Tracy, we’re just leaving the car here and walking round.”
“Oh. Okay.” Gordon mused as he exited the car with the four other guys.
Todd went to the boot and pulled out a pack of beers, handing them out to everyone. He didn’t even hesitate to toss one in Gordon’s direction too.
Seeing Gordons look of unease he snorted “That’s not your first beer, right Tracy?”
“’Course not” Gordon was quick to shoot back, popping open the can. He took a sip and was hard pushed not to gag. Was it suppose to taste like that?
The guys set off down towards the water and Gordon couldn’t help but shiver a bit at the cold. This really wasn’t what he’d been expecting and he was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable.
He piqued back into the conversation as he heard one of the other guys shout at him. “Hey baby Tracy, aren’t you like a champion swimmer or something?”
He bristled a bit at the baby part but replied anyway, trying to sound impressive. “Yeah, coach said I could be on track for the Olympics if I put in the work.”
“Olympics, huh?” Todd grinned. “Give us a show then.” He said pointing towards the water.
Gordon gave a half-hearted chuckle. “Yeah right.” He snorted.
Todd groaned dramatically and put his arm around Gordons shoulder. “Aw come on water baby, don’t be a party pooper.”
Gordon frowned. “You can’t be serious. It’ll be freezing.”
Todd just grinned down at him. “We’ve got towels in the car, just take another swig of the beer and you’ll be good to go. Come on Tracy, I know you aren’t a coward.”
Gordon stared out at the water. He tried to convince himself it would be fine. So what if he got a little cold? The guys would love it. He started to strip off his clothes.
The guys all cheered around him and Gordon felt his confidence return. Might as well put on a good show.
“There you go Tracy, knew you were up for a good time.”
When he was down to just his boxers he turned and gave the guys a mock salute before jumping off the bank and into the water. It was ice cold and the breath was knocked out of him immediately. He heard the guys cheering him on from the bank though so he kicked out and started swimming. He got into a rhythm after that. 1, 2, 3, 4, breathe, 1, 2, 3, 4…
When he figured he’d gone far enough out, he started treading water and looked back to the shore with a grin on his face.
It was silent.
His face dropped and he suddenly felt very alone. It’s fine, he told himself. He’d just gone too far out. He started swimming back, feeling the cold numbing his limbs slightly. When he got back to the bank and still couldn’t hear anything, he started to panic a little.
“Guys?” he called out. “Todd?”
He pulled himself up onto the bank, shivering as a light breeze blew past. He wrapped his arms around himself and noticed with a sinking heart that his clothes were gone as well.
“Very funny guys” he shouted into the darkness. “You can come out now.”
Everything remained perfectly still. Gordon ran back up to the road. The car was gone as well. Shit.
Gordon felt tears prickle at his eyes as he started to panic. He was standing in his boxers, soaking wet on a cold night in October. His phone had been in the pocket of his jeans so he didn’t even have anything to call home with.
His breathing picked up harshly. He was going to die out here. His body already felt stiff and the shivers tore through him harshly. Think Gordon.
John! John knew where he was. He just had to find a way to stay warm until John came to look for him. He sighed as he realised it was probably barely even 8 o’clock and John wasn’t expecting him back until 10. He needed somewhere he could wait until then. He vaguely remembered passing a water sports hut on the way in. That was probably his best option right now.
He walked a solid 30 minutes before he came across the old wooden building. He was pretty sure his feet were bleeding after walking all that way barefoot on the rocky surface but he was too scared to look. And too cold to feel it.
He tried the door but, as suspected, it was locked. He peered through the window looking longingly at the wetsuits hung up on the rack. Oh how he wished he could climb into about 10 of them right now. All layered on top of each other.
He trudged over to the changing cubicles closer to the water. Thankfully they were also made of wood and were not locked. He was relieved as he shut the door behind him. In the small confines of the changing room, without the wind, it was a mild temperature. It was still cold but not the hypothermic level of cold outside had been.
He curled up on the bench and prepared to wait.

He must’ve dozed off briefly cause the next thing he woke up to was what sounded like somewhere shouting his name. He bounced to his feet only to grunt as his legs gave out underneath him and black spots appeared in front of his eyes. He kneeled on the ground breathing heavily. He was so tired.
“GORDON!”
He lifted his head as he heard a familiar voice shout his name. He almost cried in relief.
“John!” He shouted, or tried to anyway, it came out more like the pathetic whine of an injured animal.
He pushed open the door to the changing room and half crawled, half stumbled out onto the grass.
“John!” he tried again as he managed to push himself into a standing position.
There was running footsteps in his direction and he tensed slightly until a steadying hand was placed on his shoulder and John’s face filled his vision.
“Geez Gordon, you’re freezing.”
That was all it took and Gordon pushed himself into John’s arm, violent sobs wracking his small frame.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry” he cried.
John was startled momentarily but was quick to return his little brothers hug, wrapping his arms around Gordons ice cold skin.
“You’re okay.” He reassured.
John was so warm. Gordons chest was tight as he cried out all the emotions he’d kept in the past few hours. Eventually John stepped back, grabbing one of Gordon’s arms and placing it around his shoulder to help Gordon walk. They limped slowly towards what Gordon hoped was a car. His limbs feeling lethargic and his feet were stinging from his previous walk.
John helped him into the passenger side of the car before rushing around the other side to turn on the heating. John got out again and returned with a thick blanket that he threw over his little brothers shivering form. He finally settled into the drivers seat and started the engine.
John glanced over at his little brother worriedly. “You need to tell me what happened Gordon”
Gordon buried his face in the blanket, feeling tear well up in his eyes again.
“You were right okay?” Gordon said defensively. “I shouldn’t have trusted those guys.”
“Did they hurt you?” John questioned quietly. He had been imagining the worst for the past couple of hours.
“They just left me out in the cold, half-naked and soaking wet.” Gordon grumbled bitterly before whispering. “I thought I was going to die.”
John barely caught that last part but hearing the vulnerability in his usually boisterous little brother made his blood boil.
“I’m going to kill those guys.”
Gordon startled. He’d never heard John sound so angry.
“It’s my fault John, I should have listened to you.”
“I never should have let you go in the first place.” John sighed. “Those guys have caused me so much trouble over the past 4 years.”
“You couldn’t have stopped me John, I’m just glad you still came to find me.” Gordon shuddered when he thought of what could have happened.
“I will always come for you Gordon. Always.” John promised.
Gordon settled back into his seat, finally warming up. He made a mental note to listen to John more in the future. John was always right. Why did none of them ever listen to him?

I was playing around with the girls’ various backgrounds and a few wee HCs for some of them were spawned. There’s smth for each one here, some more or less though. (Pippa has the most tho bc I am. Very biased).
Aurora, Baroness Namaire
- wicked good at poker, she learned from her mother, and went on to teach all her siblings
- has a minor rivalry with one of her baronial neighbour’s wife: in a rare subversion from expectation though it’s centred entirely around creating Revair’s best plum wine, and growing the best northern plums in general. No one has died, been blackmailed, and so far, not one case of arson has occurred. It’s all very atypical.
- was named for her mother’s younger brother, Aurean, who backed the old empire during the coup and was executed for it.
- knows how to patch stucco and fix thatching, skills she’s not had any reason to flex since she was 17.
Michi of Holt
- hates super spicy food, or super spiced food, or even super sweet food – delicate pallet on this one.
- learned to draw because of her third tutor (the first two gave up) who realized that if he let Michi pick the class location and doodle, she learned way better than locking her in a room and yelling at her.
- had a really, really complicated relationship with her maternal grandmother Myrna of Brehna whom she loved, but also resented both for how her grandmother impacted her relationship with her dying mother, and her grandma’s ‘my way or the highway’ approach to teaching Michi etiquette.
- on the note of the Brehnas, Michi is related to Noa via that branch (Myrna’s father is Isador’s paternal grandmother’s brother - making Noa and Michi 4th cousins)
Noa of Hise
- despite the stereotype, much prefers to be decked out in silver (brings out her eyes)
- mildly dyslexic, she spent her childhood doggedly trying to hide her difficulties learned her grandfather, Bantim or “Bonny Tim”, had the thing.
- lived in Wellin for 3 hours after her mother died. Her father insisted they move back, and Noa, worried for his health agreed. Three days in one of Isadore’s brothers made an offhand remark about Blackthorn and Noa alike, and her father walked right out of the parlor and back onto the ship that had brought them to Wellin in the first place, a greatly relieved Noa trailing behind him.
- was terrified of heights when she was a younger, a condition she considered intolerable and thus found her scaling every vertical surface she could find. Cousins or her mother had to got fetch her down a few times, but she largely outgrew it and now she only get queasy very rarely.
Pippa of Corval
- was actually born an fraternal [edit bc I changed my mind] twin, however her sister died after only three days. Corvali traditions wait a week after birth to name children (or, the seventh night, to be more exact), so her sister was never named. Pippa doesn’t have much of an opinion about this, other than joking maybe sharing that space was why she ended up so short (a minor mystery in the family, as her mother’s quite tall and her father wasn’t tall but not really short, either)
- her snake was actually a gag gift to another girl, Mitra who hates snakes. Basically, Pippa cares for Hihissa 9/10 parts of the yeah, and whenever Mitra’s brother visits, Mitra holds her nose and pretends she’s totally been living with this snake for three years.
- looooves rose water sweets. And tea. A scented oils. Basically, smells like a rose garden all the time and aspires to eat one as well.
- had a reputation as a shockingly well behaved child, from the age 2 onward. In truth, she just figured out very, very young that if you agreed with the adults and then did what you wanted in secret, you got praise and could have fun.
- Once wore nothing but saffron dyed clothing for a whole season: it was on a dare by a lady hoping to beggar a rival. Alas for the lady, she did not realize the Pippa’s mother, Roshan, actually owns several acres of saffron fields. Roshan felt supporting her daughter’s flex was worth eating into the profits for a season (but just one).
- named for her aunt, Philippa, her father’s sister who died age 4. In fact, Philippa was meant to be her full first name but her mother never liked it, and so changed it to just be Pippa after Judicael died. A small selection of people do still insist on calling her Philippa however, assuming Pippa to be a familiar nickname.
- (technically her first name is Mehr, but that acts as a sort of generation name for girls in her family, and thus goes unused.)
- No one actually calls her Pip, she just wasn’t going to tell of a Princess so went the most obvious option outside of telling her Pippa is technically a nickname
- semi related to above: astonishes her mother with how much of her personality is a vivid reflection of Judicael’s, despite Pippa being born posthumously to him. The only major difference really is Pippa is more scheming - and from a Corvali perspective, Pippa’s an outright Non-Schemer, so that tells you more about Judicael than it does Pippa.
- lowkey hates wearing shoes, avoids when possible (and thus, pays special attention to her toes haha)
Temperance of Arland
- secretly a fan of adventure novels, especially “gentleman explorer” types. Her supplier is the head chef’s son, who leaves them under a bush in the garden for her to borrow from his rather less restricted collection.
- hates chocolate – cannot stand it in any form
- found out at 12 she was almost named Claudia and sort of wishes that had happened – there’s like 13 “princess Temperance”es in the Arlish royal family history, only two Claudias.
- is a natural blonde, but does secretly lighten her hair. As she grew up, it darkened to near-brown blonde. Temperance lightens it in pseudo-secret, because she’s not supposed to be so vain, despite also having to always be pretty.
- pretty neutral towards Innocent, who is 18 years her junior (she’s 25, having been just this side of 17 for the last Summit)
- in Zinnia’s World State, she’s a Wellish lady, daughter of a Landgravine, and far happier for it (her parents are basically a love match that was also politically astute, so it being recreated in another timeline is not unlikely).
Yaen of Jiyel
- grew up in the far, far south of Jiyel, and has never quite gotten used to the northern seasons in the capital.
- lowkey wanted to run away and be a pirate from ages 5-8, looking back, she’s not sure why she outgrew that particular wish
- would eat lemons like oranges except it makes her teeth feel worryingly weird
- when we say “minor lady” we mean it - the family was only entitled in the last three generations - Loda’s father being the rare true blue meritocracy story, going from poor fisherman’s son to high ranking civil servant in his life. Her mother in comparison didn’t have a title at all - but her family were wealthy merchants, specializing in dyes and fabric. Her stepmother, however, is the daughter of a (3rd rank) Marquis, but with three elder brothers that means very little in the land of titles - even for her step mother’s biological sons.
- the nickname used by her father, mother and older sister, Lian, is bug. For obvious reasons, she did not share this with Ana. Her step-mother could use it - Yaen wouldn’t mind, but doesn’t feel comfortable doing so for the simple reason that she’s a naturally anxious woman.
- it’s an open family secret she’s not actually Loda’s biological daughter, but she doesn’t know who her “real” father is. She’s not exceptionally curious about it however - in part because she doesn’t want to hurt Loda in any way more.
Zinnia of Arland
- is the only MC in my roster outside Pippa to have read the Corval Satires, Constance sent her an annotated collection six months before the Summit. “For research”.
- didn’t see her father once between the age of 1 and 7, spending those 6 years on her mother’s private lands while her mother coalesced and avoided her husband. As such, had very atypically non-stodgy (but by no means improper) childhood than most Arlish princesses (Helah is 100% going to be blamed for Zinnia marrying an Arlish Earl oh the shame)
- frequently broke into Prosper’s nursery growing up, because he was her brother and she wanted him to have as much fun with his big sister as she remembered having with Constance as a child (results: fewer frogs caught, but similar levels of big sister adoration from the younger sibling)
- her rebel streak has always been semi-obvious, usually in her doggedly dressing to her own standards – which usually just meant picking colours not necessarily in season (greatly favours greens and browns, not least because the Princess Dowager, her great aunt Evalina was overheard saying she looked like bog-witch in those colours)

Eating Habits Chapter 6: Date Night
I think ‘date night’ might very well be my most used chapter title of them all, but chapter titles have never been my strong suit... Anyway, have an aged-up Adrienette date. Plus some other things.

Adrien had gotten home late after another long but enlightening shift at the bakery. Well… relatively late. The hours that a baker worked meant that his bosses were in bed long before most people, but that didn’t matter much when they took advantage of his youth and strength to do the heavy lifting for them. He hadn’t even considered checking his mailbox last night with the bone deep exhaustion he’d felt. The first rays of dawn were only just barely able to wake him.
He threw his legs over the side of his bed and took the time to watch the sunrise through his bedroom window. Another beautiful day in Paris. Even if it was a little chilly in the early October air, the cold had never bothered him as much as they had his lady. A ghost of a smile flitted across his face as he remembered her and slipped his feet into the silly kitty slippers she’d made for him ages ago.
His muscles ached as he stretched, but between his excursions to the gym, the years of superheroing, and the schedule from his youth that had run him ragged, the pain was more than bearable. A warm shower to help relax helped take the edge off the soreness. Now all he needed was some breakfast, and something to distract himself. With those goals in mind, he got dressed and headed into the kitchen, sparing a glance at Plagg. He was still laying on his back, bathed in a sunbeam as one of his legs twitched. Adrien smiled as gently closed the door behind him.
Despite all the classes and his time at the bakery, breakfast was still Adrien’s strong suit. He started to cook up a cheese omelette stuffed with fresh vegetables, paired with some leftover bread he’d taken home from the Dupain-Chengs yesterday. Barely a few minutes had passed before the silence became maddening. Another lingering pain from his childhood, but one that he could easily remedy. A playlist Nino had made for him filled the air and Adrien’s mind cleared.
Halfway through breakfast, he remembered he’d never checked the mail yesterday. Not wanting his food to get cold, he dashed down to the mailroom of the complex and quickly opened his slot. As expected, there was a bundle of letters that he snatched before closing it and running back into his apartment.
He slowly shuffled through them while he ate. Most were worthless spam or worse. One from a modeling agency he’d worked for a month or two ago. Probably either thanking him for the work or pre-emptively asking for him to come back on for the winter lines. Considering his finances were doing alright, he’d likely pass on that and carefully set the letter aside. Reaching the bottom of the pile, he froze.
A familiar type of envelope in the same familiar handwriting of his father.
Everything in him told him it was a bad idea to read it. He never came out of it any better than when he went in. His heart was pounding in his chest and he began sweating. His breathing was ragged as his eyes flew over the page.
They were all the same. Every single one of them. Different words, same meaning.
‘I did what I had to.’
‘This was for YOU.’
‘Our family needed this.’
‘Put yourself in my shoes.’
‘Would you have done any different?’
The words flew past in a blur as his eyes glazed over. Before he could properly read it, a sharp voice drew him out of the downward spiral.
“I’m hungry!” Plagg whined as he flew in front of Adrien’s vision. “I’m wasting away here, kid. I need delicious, gooey camembert NOW.”
A smile tugged at his lips but didn’t reach his eyes as Adrien jolted to his feet to find his kwami’s breakfast.

While Adrien was distracted, Plagg narrowed his eyes and faced the letter. He was sorely tempted to just cataclysm it right here and now, to make sure his chosen would never be hurt by it again. But control of their powers had never been the forte of any of the kwami, least of all the kwami of destruction. Deciding that it was only barely not worth ruining the apartment, Plagg batted the letter into the trash. If only he’d had the opportunity to do the same to Gabriel himself.
Adrien returned with a quarter wheel of cheese, which Plagg took to eating with gusto. Adrien frowned as he looked on the counter.
“Hey, Plagg?” The kwami slowly looked up from his breakfast. “Do you know where that letter I was reading went?”
“Somewhere it belonged, I’m sure,” Plagg replied irritatedly. Adrien was about to speak again, so Plagg interrupted him. “So, date night, right? That’ll be something to look forward to.”
Just as expected, a dopey grin crossed Adrien’s face. Plagg could play the boy like a lute. “Yeah, it’ll be great to go out again. We don’t get to go on dates as much as I’d like.”
“That’s ‘cuz you’d want to go on dates every night,” Plagg pointed out.
“True,” Adrien conceded. “But I don’t hear you complaining.” He rested his head on his hands, almost flush with the table, putting him at eye height to Plagg. “Maybe because you have a love bug too that you get to cuddle with, hm?”
Plagg made a gagging sound. “Sugar cube and I don’t cuddle. We are ancient beings from the dawn of time.”
“Really? Curled up into each other like that, you could’ve fooled me. And what, exactly, is it that kwamis call it?”
“...Shut up.”
“And you have pet names for each other! Just like me and Mari. Sounds a lot like you two are dating, you know.”
Plagg slowly turned to Adrien and narrowed his eyes. “Shut. Up.”
“Aw, I’m sorry Plagg. Truce?” Adrien scritched between his ears in just the right way.
Unable to fight his instincts, Plagg purred in spite of himself. Refusing to continue the conversation, he doubled down on eating his cheese. Adrien chuckled and returned to his breakfast.
Despite his denials, Plagg was looking forward to the date night, but for more than just seeing his Tikki. Plagg snuck glances at his charge, but Adrien seemed to be back to his usual peppy self again. He breathed a sigh of relief. Another crisis averted, barely.

With how much she’d been pushing herself, it was bound to happen eventually. Late night studying. Early morning classes. Every hour crammed full of work. Between the darkness of the theater, the calm and pleasant movie, and the comfortable shoulder of her boyfriend, Marinette was destined to fail. None of that made it any less mortifying.
Marinette was gently shaken awake by Adrien as the credits rolled. It took a moment for his face to come into focus, but when it did the amusement was plain.
“Rough night, huh?”
She snorted. “More like rough semester.” She wrapped herself around his arm as they walked out, leaning on him as her eyelids grew heavy. Despite her best attempts, she yawned.
She felt him kiss the crown of her head. “My poor, sleepy bug. How about we bail on the restaurant part of our date and just head over to my place?”
Even in her exhausted state she managed a grin. “Why Adrien, you tom cat. And without even buying me dinner first.”
He rolled his eyes playfully. “You’ll get your food. I just don’t want you face planting in your plate in public.”
“Oh, so it’s alright when I dive face first into my food, just so long as it's at your apartment?”
“Yes,” he said with a stoic expression. “Then when you drown in soup I will be slightly less embarrassed.”
“Oh, I see,” she deadpanned. “Well, as long as my impending doom isn’t an inconvenience to you.”
“I’m glad you understand.”
Their eyes met briefly, but that was enough to break their charade. Both of them broke out into giggles and the conversation passed into a comfortable silence as they made their way to Adrien’s apartment. At which point, she let out another big yawn.
He looked at her with a frown. “You going to make it, lovebug?”
“Nope,” she said, popping the ‘p’. “You’re going to have to carry me.” She stuck out her tongue at him and took a step towards the elevator.
Naturally, she didn’t make it much further than the one step since Adrien swept her up into his arms.
She laughed. “I was joking you ridiculous man.”
“Princesses get carried to their towers,” he replied loftily. “I don’t make the rules.”
The strong, independent woman in her wanted to struggle and get down, but the very tired design student who was presently in control simply cuddled closer as she laid her head on his chest. She felt warm and secure and relaxed for the first time in days. She closed her eyes to listen to his heartbeat more clearly.
She must have drifted off since when she opened her eyes, she was laying on his couch. There was a delicious smell in the air that was enough to make her stand up, clutching the blanket Adrien must have draped over her.
He smiled as she approached his kitchen. “Hey bed bug. Done with your cat nap?”
“For now, at least.” She rested her head against his back as he stirred. “What’re you cooking?”
“Potato soup. Straight from your father’s cookbook.”
She hummed happily. “I can’t wait.”
“Take a seat, I’ll pour you a bowl when its done.”
She moved to do so and happened to walk past the garbage can. Her eyes were drawn towards an uncrumpled letter facing up. It wasn’t hard to recognize the writing - years of idolizing the man behind the brand had trained her well. Even if it had been even more years since that particular pedestal had been broken, never to be rebuilt. She cautiously lifted it from the trash and scanned the page. Ladybug levels of singular purpose parted the tired fog of her mind as her anger was stoked.
“Adrien…” Something in her voice caused him to turn around with a frown. When he saw what she was holding, his eyes widened. “...Have you read this?”
“S-some of them.” There was a tenseness to his shoulders that hadn’t been there a moment before. A stiffness to the way he held himself. “Only skimmed that one before… before I lost it.”
Lost it? Sounds like Plagg’s doing. Marinette made a mental note to sneak the little guy even more treats. Then her eyes widened in realization as his words caught up to her brain.
“Wait. ‘Some’ of them? There are others?”
Adrien swallowed and visibly paled.
In a heartbeat, Marinette was beside him, the blanket forgotten as it pooled on the floor behind her. She reached a hand up to cup his cheek and he leaned into her touch gratefully. With her other hand, she grabbed his forearm and squeezed.
“Oh, kitty…”
After a few more deep breaths, he got himself under control. He took the letter and folded it up neatly before stashing it high on his refrigerator.
“So, uh…” He said in a voice that only barely warbled. “Soups ready.”
She knew him well enough to let it lie… for now. Adrien didn’t like being pressed or forced to talk about things, but she trusted him enough to talk in his own time. For now, all she could do was take his mind off of it.
And if that meant chatting over a dinner of soup and then cuddling on the couch for a few hours… she wasn’t about to complain.

It was morning when Marinette woke up. Apparently she’d been picked up yet again since now she found herself in Adrien’s bed, with the man himself nuzzled up underneath her chin.
As much as she wanted to sleep in, a glance at the clock proved that wasn’t likely. She groaned and tried to wriggle out of Adrien’s grasp.
“Nooo…” Adrien moaned into her collarbone. “Stay…”
“You know I’ve got classes, sunshine…”
He raised his head and pleaded at her with those big, green eyes. His bottom lip quivered with overplayed sadness. It was almost enough to break her right there, but sheer stubbornness carried her through this time.
“Nice try, and very cute, but it’s still a no.”
He sighed. “It was worth a shot. What if I drive you into class?”
“I…” She glanced at the clock again. “I’d actually appreciate that, thanks.”
“And if I happened to not have anything else to do today and brought you lunch later… I don’t suppose you’d appreciate that too?”
She tried to pout at him for babying her, but the warm smile he was giving her was proving contagious. Instead, she sighed and rolled out of his arms before walking into his shower room.
His laughter could be heard even through the door. “I didn’t hear a ‘no’, princess!”

CHAPTER 10: March - Part III
“Go,” Cassian groaned. “Save yourself and the baby and go!”
Kneeled before him, she stared at him with his broken wings and leg and trails of blood smeared all over his body. Her own fingers were covered in his blood after trying to plead with him to get up. Her mouth was covered in her own blood from where the king of Hybern had hit her.
She couldn’t stop the tears from falling as she stared at Cassian and shook her head. “I can’t,” she sobbed.
“Think of the baby,” Cassian begged her, and Nesta brought her hand to her protruding stomach, where the baby was actively kicking. Crying, she slowly nodded in agreement before standing up. She had to get away before the king of Hybern returned.
They were on the top of a muddy hill. The ground was slippery, but Nesta was able to start her descent to get to a safe spot.
But as she was making her way down the hill, she realized she couldn’t do it. She couldn’t leave Cassian to die alone. She had to go back to him.
She turned to go back up the hill. But just when she was about to reach the top, she slipped and fell hard on her pregnant stomach, sliding down the hill.
“No, no, no, no,” Nesta cried once her body came to a stop.
The baby’s kicking had ceased. She knew...she just knew the baby had passed. She could sense it. It was too hard of a fall. Tears streamed down her face.
But there was no time to mourn because there was still a chance - a very small chance - that she could at least save Cassian. She couldn’t lose both the baby and him…
Dying with him would be better than living without them both anyway.
Desperately, she went back up the hill, more carefully this time. But when she reached the top, she spotted the king of Hybern. Their eyes locked, then he raised his hand and a shot of power blasted out, hitting her in the leg and causing her to drop to the ground.
The jolt of pain in her leg...it felt so real…
Laying on her front, she turned toward Cassian who was still alive but taking labored breaths. His eyes were on her as he mouthed, “I love you.”
She crawled toward him, and once she was beside him, she reached for him.
But just before she could touch him, another jolt of power shot out of the king of Hybern’s hand, striking Nesta’s hand, followed by a killing blow to Cassian.
Nesta gasped as she opened her eyes and sat up in her bed. She looked down at her hand, which currently felt like it was burning with pain as she grasped her comforter.
But the pain only lasted for a moment. She let go of the blanket and held up her hand at eye-level, flexing it. Were her powers acting up again? Or was it all just her imagination? She knew she just had a nightmare, a distorted version of her encounter with the king of Hybern.
The pain just felt so real. Even in the dream, when the king of Hybern struck her leg, it felt real. Pulling back the covers, she looked down at her leg.
It looked perfectly normal.
Perhaps being without Cassian during this stressful time was driving her mad. She knew that was why the nightmares were triggered again. With him in the Rite, the thought of potentially losing him again had made her think of the day she almost lost him to the king of Hybern.
But now those dreams had evolved into something slightly different. Nesta placed her hand against her stomach, hoping to feel a kick.
But she didn’t.
Leaning back against the headboard, a few tears slipped out as she closed her eyes .
“Come back to me, Cassian,” she whispered into the night. “I won’t be able to survive this loss without you.”

Cassian’s body materialized in front of his cabin. Face down in the snowy ground, he gingerly lifted up his head to look at the door all while fighting to keep his eyes open.
As he blinked multiple times, he noticed a shadowy figure stepping outside of his home, rushing to approach him.
“Brother,” the figure called out.
Could it be...Azriel? Cassian’s mind was slow to process everything. He didn’t even feel like he was truly back at Windhaven.
Azriel. It was Azriel.
But if...Azriel...was here...then, where was…
“Where,” Cassian paused to take another breath. “...is she?” he demanded to know.
If Azriel was here and saw Nesta, then that would mean...he would know about...
“Let’s get you inside, brother,” Azriel stated as he bent down to help lift Cassian up. It was then that Cassian heard Azriel take a sharp intake of breath. He must’ve noticed his injuries.
Slowly, Cassian pushed himself up off the ground and leaned on the uninjured leg while the injured one continued to bleed. His hand was dripping blood onto the snow. Pain throbbed through his leg and his hand and then there was this ache in his chest…
No, it hadn’t been a chest injury, he realized. It was a combination of an ache and an emptiness that signified…he wasn’t near his mate.
“WHERE IS SHE?” Cassian barked as Azriel wrapped his non-bleeding arm around his shoulders to assist him in his walk to the cabin.
“She’s in Velaris,” Azriel stately calmly as he nudged Cassian forward.
“V-Velaris?” Cassian sputtered. “What is she doing there? Why isn’t she here?”
Cassian couldn’t think nor process what he was hearing. Why would she leave him to go back to the place she didn’t care about?
Azriel heaved a sigh as they stepped up the platform together and walked past the threshold to his home, and that was when Cassian knew something was wrong.
“Azriel, tell me,” Cassian insisted.
“Cassian, we need to tend to your wounds first.”
“TELL ME.”
“She was attacked,” Emerie said solemnly as she appeared in the entryway. “I failed to protect her.”
Cassian may have been on the edge of exhaustion but his mind nearly exploded with anger and questions that were severely in need of answers.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE WAS ATTACKED? BY WHO? IS SHE ALL RIGHT?”
“She’s okay,” Azriel replied calmly.
��I’ll give you all the details after we’ve taken care of you first,” Emerie said while following Azriel and Cassian to the couch.
But Cassian was in no mood to be sitting down right now. He roughly gripped onto Azriel’s shoulder, preventing him from leaving his side until he got answers.
Because if Nesta was attacked, then…
Cassian’s heart skipped a beat. “Is the...is her…” he stumbled over his words as he looked at Emerie. Emerie of course knew about the baby. Surely ,Azriel must’ve known about it too now.
Emerie turned her gaze toward Azriel, looking for him to answer.
“They don’t know if the baby is still alive,” Azriel whispered before firmly removing Cassian’s hand from his shoulder and gently pushing Cassian to sit on the couch. Emerie picked up the glass of water that rested on the table in the middle of the room and held it out to Cassian.
But Cassian’s body stilled and sat in stunned silence. It felt as if his heart had shattered into a million little pieces. They didn’t know if the baby still lived? But the baby had to live. It had to.
If he hadn’t been so dehydrated, he surely would have felt tears form in his eyes. And if he was this shaken by the news, then Nesta…
Nesta.
There would always be time for revenge on whoever did this to her. But Nesta...he needed to get to her before she lost herself again. Before she drowned again and refused to let anyone help her again.
“I need to go to her. Right now,” Cassian announced as he looked back up at Azriel, disregarding the glass Emerie was holding.
“Rhys will be here soon to winnow you. But first, we need to take care of you, or else you won’t even be alive to see her.” There was a slight edge to Azriel’s voice now. He clearly was getting frustrated with him.
Emerie, who now had bandages in her hands, was approaching him to start wrapping his injuries.
But Cassian didn’t care about that right now. He needed to get to Nesta.
“But she needs me now!”
“And you need to rest!” Azriel exclaimed.
“You don’t understand! She -” Cassian had begun, but Azriel now held the glass of water and suddenly shoved it into his face, holding the back of Cassian’s head as he did so in order to force him to drink it.
Cassian nearly gagged as he was left with no choice but to chug the water...which had a slightly odd taste to it…
Within seconds, his eyes shut closed and he lost consciousness.

“You’ll need to eat something and drink some water before I give you another dose,” he heard a familiar female voice say.
Slowly, Cassian opened up his eyes, squinting his eyes at the sunlight that shone through the bedroom.
A bedroom that wasn’t his, he realized. As he scanned the room, it appeared to be one of the bedrooms at Rhys and Feyre’s home.
Velaris. He was in Velaris then. That realization pushed him to sit up in bed immediately. Madja stood at the side of his bed, holding a tray with soup and water.
How long had he been asleep? His eyes still demanded to be shut, so he must’ve not gotten a whole lot of sleep.
“Where is Nesta?” he asked with a rough edge to his voice.
“I don’t know,” she answered firmly. “But I do know that you need to eat this soup, drink this water, take another dose of medicine for your pain and dehydration and go back to sleep.”
Cassian yanked the blanket off of his body and swung his legs to the side of the bed, preparing to stand up. As he did so, he noticed that his hand and his leg had both been wrapped in bandages. “I need to see Nesta,” he muttered.
“You’ve only had a few hours of sleep! You need to stay here to eat and rest,” Madja ordered.
Ignoring her and the aches he still felt in his body, Cassian stood and clumsily crossed the room. He didn’t move as swiftly as he would’ve liked, but he wasn’t capable. Groaning to himself as he left the room, he reached the bannister of the staircase and held onto it as he descended the staircase. “Nesta!” he cried out. “Nesta!”
But he heard nothing in response.
When he’d reached the bottom of the staircase, he didn’t know where to turn. His current headache from his exhaustion certainly didn’t help.
Then, Feyre appeared, walking in from the nearby kitchen. “Cassian?” she asked in surprise.
“Where is Nesta?” he demanded to know, desperate to find her.
There may have been much to talk about with Feyre. But right now, that didn’t matter. If Nesta was suffering, then he just prayed he wasn’t too late. He would not let her enter her downward spiral again. Never again.
“You need to -” Feyre began.
“I need to find Nesta!” he barked, feeling sick and tired of everyone trying to deter him from what he needed to do.
“She’s in the garden,” Feyre whispered. “But she keeps insisting she doesn’t want to be bothered by anyone. Saying she needs time to herself,” Feyre stated worriedly.
He prayed again that he wasn’t too late.
“I’ll talk to her,” Cassian said as he pushed past Feyre, heading straight for the door that led to the backyard.
Evidently, there had been many changes to Rhys and Feyre’s garden since he last went into their backyard. It now looked like a jungle out there, with various trees, shrubs, and foliage covering the expansive yard. No doubt it was courtesy of Elain.
But Cassian couldn’t help but let out a sigh of frustration over the fact that this was yet another obstacle to finding Nesta quickly. Seeing a pathway through the garden, he decided to follow it and continued to disregard the discomfort he felt with his injuries.
Unsteadily, he made his way along the path, stepping on the flat, circular stones until they led to an open green area that had been lined with flowers that were just beginning to bloom.
Then he saw her.
Her back was toward him and the sunlight illuminated her golden brown hair as she sat on a blanket on the grass.
“Nesta,” he breathed. Her back seemed to stiffen at the mention of her name, but she didn’t turn around.
Rushing as quickly as he could, Cassian ended up behind her and collapsed to the ground on his knees. “Nesta,” he whispered as he wrapped his arms around her so his hands were wound tightly against her chest above her stomach.
At first, she did not react. She only sat there and didn’t move any part of her body at all.
No, I can’t be too late. I can’t be.
But then, in a movement that left him breathless, she relaxed in his arms and turned her head to the side to look up at him. “Cassian?” she said quietly in disbelief.
Her eyes were red from crying, and the dark circles beneath her eyes revealed how little sleep she had been getting lately.
“I’m here, sweetheart. I’m here,” he said as he bent his head to place a kiss on her temple.
“Cassian,” she repeated, this time out of relief. She twisted her body so she could wrap her arms around him and bury her face into his chest.
He couldn’t help but let out a grunt of pain as she did so, considering how sore he felt. Based upon hearing her gasp, she must have noticed and so she had begun to pull away.
But Cassian was quick to hug her to him. “Don’t you dare let go,” he requested softly as he placed a kiss to the top of her head.
“But you’re hurt,” she protested.
“And I need you to heal me,” he explained with a small smile, but Nesta still seemed hesitant to grab hold of him again. “If we lie down, it won’t hurt as much,” he suggested.
Nesta immediately shifted herself so Cassian could readjust his position to lay down across the length of the blanket. Nesta followed suit, laying her head on top of his chest and draping her hand across his abdomen. “Is this okay?” she asked.
“Perfect,” he remarked as he began running his fingers through her hair, toying with her braid in the hopes of untangling it. Lying beside her had brought him such ease and reminded him of all the times he laid beside her before.
Before she was attacked.
“Tell me what happened,” he asked rather gruffly, unable to keep the anger out of his voice.
He felt her tears leak out of her eyes and onto his chest before she replied. “The first night after you left, I was sleeping in your bed.”
Cassian’s eyes lit up in surprise at her statement, but he couldn’t playfully tease her for saying such a thing as he normally would have. Not now. Not when they were just about to discuss her attack.
“And I heard a noise. I thought it was Emerie, so I left the room. But it was an Illyrian I didn’t recognize. He called me a whore and said something like ‘Cassian’s child will never…’ and then that...power came out of my hands again which slowed his breathing, but he sent us both falling down the staircase.”
Cassian’s hand paused in stroking her hair. “They wanted to kill your child only because they thought it was mine,” he realized solemnly. “I should have never said…”
“No matter what you said, they would have assumed you were the father since I lived with you,” Nesta interrupted him. “And of course, I happened to be sleeping in your bed that night,” she added bitterly. “If only I hadn’t gone up there…” she trailed off.
“What happened next?” he asked sadly.
“I was knocked out from the fall. When I woke up, Emerie helped write a note to Rhys. He came immediately and brought me here,” she explained. “Cassian, Madja doesn’t...she doesn’t know if the baby is still alive. She said if I don’t feel her kick in the next few days, then we can assume…”
Cassian felt another burst of tears drip onto his chest. She didn’t finish her sentence, but she didn’t need to. He understood what she was trying to say.
If he weren’t still dehydrated, he knew he would have cried with her. “And what about you? Are you hurt physically?”
“My back was badly injured, but the medicine has taken care of that. Then, there’s just been some slight aches and pains in the past few days.”
The back injury...that was what he must have felt through the bond when he fell down the monolith…
“Whichever camp did this to you...will pay for this,” he stated angrily. “But it is also my fault,” he added woefully as he started rubbing her shoulder and upper arm.. “I’m sorry I failed to protect you again. I wasn’t there for you.”
“I’m the one who told you to do the Rite.”
“And I listened.”
“This isn’t your fault,” she insisted.
“I should have never let Feyre force you to come to the mountains with me,” he muttered.
“And then you would have never loved me,” she noted bitterly.
Cassian was almost angry that she made such an assumption and that was the conclusion she drew from him making such a remark. “Sweetheart, look at me,” he requested.
Nesta lifted her head up off of his chest to look back at him. Her cheeks were stained with tears.
Placing his palm against her cheek, he stared into her eyes. “It is because I love you that I wish you would have never felt this pain. I do not regret loving you at all. If you hadn’t come to the Illyrian Mountains, I would have fallen in love with you some other way. I know it.”
He started rubbing his thumb on her cheek, wiping away the stray tears that fell. “I’m so thankful you’re still alive,” he added in a whisper.
When he first found her in the garden, he hadn’t noticed how at peace he felt through the bond. He also hadn’t observed until now the slight edge he felt in regards to scenting the child within her. If he could still pick up the father’s scent from the baby, then surely that meant the baby still lived?
But how was he supposed to tell her that without revealing the mating bond? He so badly wanted to eliminate her worries. But he didn’t want to get her hopes up if he ended up being wrong about this either...
Nesta laid her chin down on Cassian’s chest and still looked at him. “I’m so glad you’re here and alive,” she revealed softly. She reached her hand out to run her fingers across his face, probably noticing all the scrapes and bruises on him. “What happened during the Rite?”
“It’s not important,” he remarked tiredly, brushing it off. Compared to what happened to Nesta and what may have happened to the baby, he didn’t feel the need to go into it.
“Tell me,” she ordered.
“It was a lot of climbing, a lot of fighting, and a lot of almost dying from lack of food and drink,” he explained before a yawn escaped his mouth.
Nesta frowned. “You should be sleeping.”
“I need to be with you,” he insisted, right before his body growled with hunger.
“And you should be eating,” Nesta added.
But Cassian didn’t care, so he placed both of his hands within her hair. He finished untangling her braid and ran his fingers through the strands.
Nesta sighed. “You need to eat and rest so I don’t lose you too,” she said seriously, and fresh tears welled up in her eyes.
“You won’t lose me.”
“Cassian, please go eat and sleep.”
“Only if you come with me.”
“Fine,” she said, as she moved herself to get up off the ground.
“Wait,” Cassian halted her, moving to get up himself. Once he stood, he bent over to hold out his hands, ignoring the way his body protested such movement. Nesta grabbed them as she slowly got up off the ground.
As he steadied her, Nesta gave him a peculiar look as she looked at his bandage wrappings on his hand, then saw her eyes drift down to his leg.
One she was upright, Cassian let go of her hands to pick up her blanket and started folding it.
“How did they hurt your leg and your hand?” she asked.
“One Illyrian staked my leg with a wooden stick when I had reached the top of the monolith,” he explained. “Then, when I was about to touch the stone to complete the Rite, another Illyrian staked my hand.”
“When did this happen?”
Cassian struggled to think through his exhaustion as he finished folding the blanket into a small rectangle. “The last night of the Rite...so last night?” he guessed as he looked back over at Nesta, who was staring at the palm of her hand.
“Last night, I woke up during the night because I was in pain,” she began seriously. “I had felt the pain in my leg first, and then my hand.” She looked back up at him with a very solemn look upon her face. “Cassian, are we... mates?”
Cassian froze and felt the color drain from his face. “We’re…” he began but didn’t finish.
“Are we or aren’t we?” she demanded impatiently.
“Yes,” he answered quietly. “We are.”
Her mouth dropped open in shock. At first it looked like no words could come out of her. She kept staring at him, and he could see the rage ignite in her eyes.
“How long have you known?” she asked coldly when she was able to find the words.
“Since the baby first kicked,” he answered with a deep breath.
Now she looked livid. “That was nearly two months ago! Were you ever planning to tell me?”
“I just...I wanted to wait and...and,” he sputtered. “And see if you loved me first so you wouldn’t feel forced into this!”
Nesta shook her head back and forth. “None of this was real,” she said in disbelief. “This whole time, I was thinking I - ”
“This is real!” Cassian piped in, dropping the blanket and placing his arms on her shoulders. “The bond doesn’t mean anything!”
“Yes, it does!” she shouted back. “This means I’ve had no control or choice in this.”
“Being mates has no control over how we feel about each other!” he said as moved his hands to her cheeks. “Nesta, I love you,” he declared desperately, imploring her to believe him.
Nesta shook her head back and forth as the tears streamed down her face. “Don’t touch me!” she exclaimed and Cassian reluctantly removed his hands out of respect to her wishes. “Now, get out of my sight!” she yelled as she crossed her arms. “I never want to see you again!”
“Nesta, please,” he begged.
“Get. Out,” she stated in a deadly calm voice.
At a loss for words, he began to turn around to follow the path out of the garden. Right before he vanished from her view, he turned back. “I honestly love you, Nesta. And whatever your feelings are, they are real,” he stated before turning back around and continuing his way out of the garden.
“Right now, I feel like murdering you!” she shouted at his back.
Cassian cringed at her words, hating himself for how everything spiraled out of control.
He wasn’t sure what to do. But for now, he would demand Madja knock him unconscious so he could at least escape this heartbreak for a little while.

When she had first heard Cassian calling her name in the garden, she had thought her mind was playing tricks on her.
Even though she had been told that Cassian had arrived at Rhys and Feyre’s home early that morning, he’d been unconscious and was being treated for his injuries and dehydration. She couldn’t celebrate his return just yet.
But then when he had come up behind her and wrapped his arms around as he said her name, it had finally felt real that he was there, and her heart had never felt such a joy before.
But it was all a lie.
Everything she had felt within her heart toward Cassian...everything he claimed to feel for her...they were all lies. It was only a product of some silly, animalistic instinct that brought them together.
She had no choice in the matter.
Just like everything else in this new life of hers. Whatever made her think that she could even have a choice in something? She was such a fool.
“If you hadn’t come to the Illyrian Mountains, I would have fallen in love with you some other way. I know it.”
Well, of course he knew it because he knew that they were mates.
And he chose to keep this information from her. After all they had shared with each other during their time in the mountains, he chose to keep this a secret from her.
When she fully noticed Cassian’s injuries, memories of her nightmare and the pain she felt last night came back to her and it all clicked. She had been familiar with how Feyre and Rhys felt each other’s pain.
At least the bond explained how in the world Cassian could “love” someone like her. He had to be pulled to her and forced by instinct in order to do so. Otherwise, she was an unloveable monster. It all made much more sense now.
And for her...well now it made sense how she could love a foolish, pompous bastard like him.
And yet, why did it feel like she was being stabbed in the heart over and over again from this revelation of them being mates?
She wanted so badly to hate him, but found she couldn’t do so. Not when she thought of how he would prepare her meals, eat with her, shop for maternity clothes with her, seek her opinions, always think of her needs before she did, give her that infamous look that brought butterflies to her stomach…
But that was the mating bond’s doing, wasn’t it? You couldn’t hate your mate because the damn fae magic had put you together.
She wished she could scream, but she felt like she was being submerged in that tub of water again, being robbed of her life.
When she lived with Cassian and let go of her life of sleeping with random males and drowning herself in alcohol, she instead had been gradually growing accustomed to the idea of raising a child with Cassian’s help. In fact, she had been looking forward to such a life.
But now, it appeared that both the baby and Cassian were being taken from her, leaving her alone once more.
She remained in the garden and cried, mourning the loss of that potential new life she almost had.

Hours later, as the sun was setting, she heard someone approach her in the garden from behind.
She clenched her fists, ready to fire at whoever dared to speak to her. If it was Cassian again, she was sure she would explode with fury.
“Nesta? You’re still out here?” Feyre asked curiously.
At least it wasn’t Cassian, but the realization that it was her youngest sister made her sigh. Here would come more questions, more prodding.
“Obviously,” Nesta answered without turning to look back at her.
“Did you see Cassian? He had been looking for you earlier.”
“Unfortunately,” she replied glumly.
“Did something...happen?” Feyre seemed to hesitantly say.
Nesta wasn’t exactly sure what Feyre was implying with that question, but if she wasn’t going to specify, then a vague answer is what she would get.
“Just losing control of my life as usual,” she said emotionlessly. “I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised anymore.”
“What do you mean?”
At that, Nesta finally turned her head to look at Feyre standing over her. “You of all people should know,” she began calmly. “You’re the one who became part of the fae realm, which led me to being a part of your war and being forced to become a fae with powers connected to the Cauldron. Then after the war, you sent me away to the Illyrian Mountains.”
“But you needed help,” Feyre tried to quietly explain as she bent down and sat beside Nesta. “I was trying to help you.”
Nesta shook her head and looked down at the blanket she was sitting on, absentmindedly playing with the fringe at the edge of it with her fingers. “I’m a problem you don’t want to deal with. You sent me away from you, giving me to Cassian handle.”
“Only because I felt I had already tried so hard to help. I had invited you to our home, to celebrations - ”
“Yes, to places where everyone was going about with their perfect, happy little lives while I was dying inside,” Nesta explained quietly, managing to hold back from raising her voice. “It made me feel worse. I felt so alone.”
Nesta looked back up at Feyre to find tears in her eyes. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered. “I didn’t realize…”
“Feyre? Nesta? Are you ready for dinner?” Elain called out as she approached where the two of them were sitting. “Oh Nesta, you’re sitting right in front of the flowers I planted for you!”
Elain ran up to them and plopped down beside Nesta. She pointed to the stems which had not yet bloomed. “They haven’t bloomed yet, but they’ll be a fiery red...bold like you,” Elain added with a smile.
Nesta didn’t smile back. The day’s events and conversations had left her exhausted and upset.
Upon no reaction from Nesta, Elain pressed on. “Dinner is ready. Rhys and Azriel are waiting.”
Just as she had done the past few days, Nesta planned to eat alone in the bedroom she slept in. There was no way she was going to be able to sit at a dinner with all of them. They weren’t suffering like she was, with the potential loss of a baby and the loss of her free will...She wouldn’t be able to handle hearing about their happy lives.
“Perhaps…” Feyre reached out and grabbed Nesta’s hand. “Perhaps just the three of us could eat together?”
Feyre looked at Nesta expectantly. After the words they had just exchanged between each other, maybe Feyre realized how uncomfortable a group dinner for her would be.
Nesta wasn’t sure if she was ready for just a dinner with her sisters. While she had begun talking to Feyre about how she had felt, she didn’t know if she could talk much more. But she wouldn’t be able to handle light chatter either. Not with Cassian’s betrayal looming over her along with the anxiety of hoping her baby would kick soon.
“Maybe another time,” Nesta answered.
Feyre slowly nodded in understanding and released her hand.
But as soon as she let go, Nesta felt something strange.
There was a brief tap within her stomach. Was she imagining things?
But then, she felt a kick.
A kick!
Nesta gasped and brought her hands to her stomach. The baby was kicking, and Nesta couldn’t stop the smile that spread across her face and the tears of joy that filled her eyes.
“The baby’s kicking!” she exclaimed as she brought Feyre’s and Elain’s hands to her stomach to feel it too.
Once they felt it, the two of them were beaming and giggling with Nesta over the sensation. “Oh Nesta, I’m so happy for you,” Feyre said, leaning against Nesta to wrap her free hand around her shoulder. Elain followed suit.
Tears continued to fall down Nesta’s face, unable to contain her joy.
“We’re going to be aunts, Feyre! Can you believe it?” Elain gushed. “And Nesta...you’re going to be a mother!”
She was still going to be a mother...and she was overjoyed by that revelation.

After days that largely consisted of sleeping with only brief moments of waking up to eat and take medicine to heal his body, Cassian woke up with the intention of actually spending the day being awake to get back to normal.
As well as make amends with Nesta.
His body felt so much better. When he swung his legs over the side of the bed, he no longer felt it protest. Now, he felt energized and ready to move about. Lifting up his hand, he unwrapped the bandages to discover there were no scars or scratches on it. Looking down at his thigh, he found no bandages wrapped around it. It looked as if it had never been injured.
Now, he only needed his relationship with Nesta to be healed. Perhaps she had simmered down a bit. Maybe now she would be in the mood to talk.
During his days of sleep, he often dreamed of her. Of simple moments of just being with her. Of her teasing him playfully. Of walking along the streets of Velaris together. Of them strolling along the bridge and looking up at the night sky. Of him teaching her how to fight and defend herself. Of him raising her child with her.
All the things he longed to do with her.
And he desperately hoped that her child was fine. In the brief moments he was awake the past few days, he stayed in his room and didn’t talk to anyone. Madja had always left him his food and medicine on the bedside table.
He left his room and just like a few days ago, he rushed down the stairs with the intent of finding Nesta.
He happened upon Elain first, who had been drinking some tea in the kitchen.
“Good morning, Cassian,” she said. “Are you feeling better?”
“I am,” he replied. “Do you know where Nesta is?”
“I think she’s in her room,” Elain answered. “It’s upstairs in the room next to mine.”
That meant it was in a different wing of the house from where he had been sleeping.
“I’ll go see if she’s awake,” Cassian explained before darting off in the direction of her room. If she stuck to her routine that she had while in the mountains, then she would most likely be awake already.
After eagerly climbing up the stairs, he went to the closed door that was beside the entry to Elain’s room. Taking a deep breath, he knocked upon the door. He debated calling out her name, but if he did...there was a chance she wouldn’t open it if she knew it was him.
Slowly, the door opened. Nesta appeared startled to see him and moved to close the door. But Cassian stuck his hand out to stop the door from shutting.
“Nesta, can we please talk?”
“Shouldn’t you be showering? Your stench is awful.”
Cassian sighed. “Nesta - ”
“I told you that I never want to see you again,” she interjected. “Now please leave before I get upset. I can’t risk hurting the baby.”
Cassian’s heart stopped. “Is the baby…?”
“The baby has been kicking the past few days,” she explained.
A wave of relief and delight came over him. “Oh, thank the gods!” Cassian exclaimed as he felt tears sting his eyes. Out of instinct, he moved as if he were going to embrace Nesta, but she quickly stepped back so she was out of his reach.
Reluctantly, Cassian brought his hands back to his sides. “I’m so glad,” he whispered.
Nesta just gave a nod in response, then proceeded to start closing the door again.
“Nesta,” he whispered. “Please know that I love you.”
“So you’ve said.”
“Please...just talk to your sisters about the bond,” he said. “Then maybe you’ll better understand.”
Nesta said nothing as she shut the door.
Cassian took a deep breath, then leaned his forehead against the door and pressed his palm against it. “Nesta...I just don’t want us to waste anymore time, like you said before.”
“Well, spending time with you may have been a waste of my time,” she noted snobbily.
Cassian heaved a heavy sigh before walking away.
How foolish of him to think Nesta may have calmed down after only a few days.

Nesta leaned her head against the door as a few tears escaped her eyes
It still hurt too much to know that he had lied to her and the feelings between them might not even be real. She had to cut him down by claiming he’d been wasting her time...which could have very well been true.
And yet, her heart still leapt when she opened the door to find Cassian awake and healed... and the fact that she had such a feeling infuriated her. The stupid bond.
And when he cried after hearing that the baby was alive, she had wanted to feel him wrap his arms around her and have him feel the baby’s kicking for himself. But she forced herself to step out of his reach.
Because of course the baby had been kicking when he was with her. Before the attack, the baby always seemed to have a habit of kicking when Cassian was around. She hoped the baby wouldn’t be disappointed about not hearing his voice anymore.
When her feet started aching, she finally pulled her head away from the door and waddled over to her bed. As she plopped down, she couldn’t help but wonder where she could live to raise her child now that Cassian’s cabin was no longer an option.
And Cassian’s help in raising the child was no longer an option. The thought pierced her heart. She would have to handle this alone.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. “Who is it?” she asked, lacking the energy to get up.
Earlier, when she had first heard knocking, she assumed it would be Elain and Feyre at the door, considering they had stopped by to bring her breakfast and eat with her the past few mornings. Finding Cassian there this morning had been unexpected and now she knew she always needed to ask before opening the door.
“Your sisters!” she heard Elain exclaim.
“Come in,” she answered, and her sisters promptly opened the door and came over to her bed, carrying a breakfast tray table that they placed in the middle of the mattress. Nesta sat up in the bed.
Upon the tray were multiple stacks of pancakes topped with syrup and butter. The sight of them made Nesta frown since they reminded her of the times Cassian would make her pancakes whenever she craved them.
“What’s wrong?” Elain asked.
Nesta shook her head. “Nothing,” she replied before grabbing a plate of pancakes and a fork from the tray. Her sisters followed suit.
“Was it Cassian? He was looking for you this morning,” Elain asked.
“I don’t want to talk about Cassian,” Nesta sternly said as she stabbed at a piece of pancake rather forcefully.
“So it is about Cassian then?” Feyre wondered.
“I do not waste my worries or thoughts on a foolish bastard like him,” Nesta insisted, not wanting her sisters to know about what her relationship with Cassian had been like when they were in the mountains. “I just...don’t know where I’m going to live with the baby.”
“But Nesta, you are welcome to live here,” Feyre stated earnestly, putting down her fork and moving to grab Nesta’s hand, but Nesta moved it out of reach.
“Really? Because the lack of photographs of me in your estate says otherwise,” Nesta noted as she scowled.
It looked as if the words burned Feyre based on the facial expression she made. “Nesta,” she said quietly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize...we just hadn’t taken pictures recently. I didn’t mean to make you feel excluded.”
Nesta snorted in disbelief.
“I’m serious,” Feyre added. “You are of course welcome to stay here and live here.”
“And let you control the way I raise my child? I don’t think so.”
Feyre frowned. “Is that why you didn’t tell us about the baby? You thought we’d take control?”
“As I’ve already pointed out to you, all you’ve done is lead me into a life where I’ve been left with no control.”
“Well, maybe if you’d actually helped to provide for our family, I wouldn’t have had to hunt for food and I would have never killed that wolf that led me meeting Tamlin and knowing about this fae realm,” Feyre fired back.
Nesta stared at her for a moment. “Well, I’m sorry we can’t recover from our sufferings as quickly as you,” she stated snobbishly.
The anger vanished from Feyre’s face, and she looked down at her plate. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. Please know that I haven’t been holding that against you.”
After a pause, Nesta spoke again. “Know that I regret not helping to feed you both,” she said softly as she looked down at her plate.
Elain put down her plate and fork and reached out to grab Nesta’s hand and Feyre’s hand. “It’s all in the past,” she stated.
“Nesta,” Feyre began calmly. “Live with us here at the estate. We can help you raise the baby. Me and Rhys have been trying to have a child, so we’re ready to have a baby in our home. Yours could help us prepare for a baby of our own.”
Nesta wanted to to turn down the idea. Who’s to say that Feyre wouldn’t start controlling the way Nesta handled raising her baby? But...but she’d have help in raising the baby. And it would be a safe place to live. She had to put her baby’s needs ahead of her own.
“Do you promise not to control me and the way I raise my baby?” Nesta asked seriously.
Feyre nodded. “I promise,” she said as she put down her fork and offered her free hand to Nesta.
Slowly, Nesta put down her fork and grabbed Feyre’s hand. “Okay,” she said.
Elain smiled brightly at her sisters and squeezed her sisters’ hands. “I can’t wait to help decorate the baby’s room!”

“It’s good to see you, brother,” Rhys greeted as he embraced Cassian when he walked into the living room.
“Likewise,” Cassian stated, trying to keep a smile on his face as he did. But he couldn’t stop replaying that morning’s conversation with Nesta in his head, making it difficult to be happy about anything else.
Rhys opened his mouth to speak as the two of them pulled away, but Cassian was quick to cut in. “Who attacked Nesta?”
He had to know. He didn’t care that his question came off as abrupt. He had to find out which camp was responsible for nearly killing Nesta and her child. He needed his revenge.
Rhys eyed him curiously before turning around to go to the drink cart and began searching for a specific bottle.
Cassian was getting more impatient as the seconds ticked by. “Tell me, please.”
“It was Warrick from camp Erwood,” Rhys calmly revealed as he poured two drinks. Cassian felt his blood begin to boil in rage. “I visited Vitus the other day. We got into a bit of a fight, but he insists that Warrick acted alone, that he did not plan this.”
“Bullshit.”
“I’m not convinced either,” Rhys explained as he went over to Cassian and held out a glass of whisky for him to take.
Cassian was pretty sure he hadn’t had an alcoholic drink since Solstice, and he hadn’t been in want of one. Not when Nesta couldn’t drink. It didn’t seem right to do so.
Cassian shook his head, causing Rhys’ eyebrow to rise in confusion, but he said nothing. Rhys took a seat on the couch across from Cassian and looked up at him. Cassian, still standing and infuriated, couldn’t be bothered to sit down. He was ready to go right now to talk to Vitus and give him hell for what had happened. He started pacing about the room hurriedly in anxious frustration.
All the while, Rhys watched him in confusion as he sipped from his drink.
“Then we should go to Erwood right now and punish him,” Cassian demanded.
Maybe even kill him, Cassian thought.
Rhys put his drink down on the table. “There’s something I need to know first,” Rhys said with an edge to his voice.
Cassian couldn’t handle this. They were taking too long. Didn’t Rhys understand that he needed to go right now? Someone had hurt the woman and child he loved and…
But, then again...of course Rhys didn’t know that he needed to go right now. No one else knew what had developed between him and Nesta over the past five months.
“Why didn’t you tell me and Feyre about Nesta’s pregnancy?” Rhys finally asked in a hurt voice.
Cassian paused his pacing and looked over at Rhys. “It wasn’t my place to tell,” Cassian whispered.
“Wasn’t your place to tell?” Rhys’ voice rose in anger. “Considering she’s my mate’s sister, I think we had every right to know!”
“Well, my mate wasn’t ready to tell her!” Cassian shouted back, and Rhys’ mouth dropped open in shock.
“Nesta is your…?” he asked more calmly, his voice trailing off.
Cassian nodded. “She’s my mate,” he stated confidently.
“I’m...sorry,” Rhys said awkwardly.
“I’m not,” Cassian was quick to say. “You just don’t understand her or what she’s been through. But we’ve come to understand each other...at least somewhat,” Cassian added upon thinking about how he didn’t comprehend how she could deny her feelings for him at the moment over the bond. “And I...love her.”
Rhys seemed to be at a loss for what he should say. It looked like he was unable to wrap his head around this information. “Does she...love you?”
“I don’t know,” he answered honestly.
“Has she...has she accepted the bond?” Rhys asked.
“No. She only just found out about it a few days ago,” Cassian said. “I had known for about two months,” he admitted quietly.
“Ah, so now she’s mad of course,” Rhys commented knowingly. “She is an Archeron after all.”
Cassian nodded. “Well, I hope she’ll forgive me like Feyre forgave you.”
Rhys nodded and took another sip of his drink.
“You’re fighting the urge to say you don’t think she will, aren’t you?” Cassian questioned him, with a slight grin on his face.
Rhys swallowed. “You’re right. But...apparently, I don’t really know her. It sounds like...you do though.”
“It’s still hard to say...but I will do all I can to get her forgiveness and prove to her that I love her,” Cassian stated. “Starting with dealing with camp Erwood.”
“Well…” Rhys said as he stood up off the couch. “I guess we better get going to Illyria then.”

Combining two better sequels than GT into one...
Part 0 – Details
Dragon Ball Multiverse is a Fan Manga that is the creation of Salagir and others. It is their attempt at creating a better sequel series than Dragon Ball GT. And for a time, it was considered much better as it featured the concept of a Multiverse Tournament pitting numerous what if universes against each other. But over time, people are questioning that since of a few issues I won’t mention. But before Super, it was definitely the better Sequel.
Dragon Ball Super is the OFFICIAL sequel series to Z that takes place in between the last episode of the Buu Saga and the final episode of the series. This was created after Multiverse but it does have similarities to the Fan Manga, but you could argue improved over it. But what if Dragon Ball Super was in Multiverse and their various interpretations of numerous characters. So here is how its going to go...
I am going to replace Universe 10 of Multiverse to insert Super. I originally was thinking of Universe 2 being mostly Toriyama's other works, I went with 10 since basically all of them were fodder. 8 fighters and whoever didn't lose forfeit before entering the ring. Also, for this story, Super as a whole will be represented, so I am bringing others from the other universes into this. I'll explain the in universe reason, but I feel it would be neat to see how some of these concepts would interact with each other. Also, this will follow the Super Anime continuity since I know that better than the Manga.
Part 1 – Before the Tournament.
On Whis' planet, Goku and Vegeta were training when they got a visit from the Vargas. Whis allowed them to arrive as he was curious. These creatures were not of this Universe and he suspects not even from the ones under Zeno's Control. They explain to Whis and the others about the concept of Multiverses when Whis corrects them on it being specific timelines. Goku hears this and wishes to participate, but before they could Whis must get permission from Zeno.
Both Zenos are curious of these other Universes not under their control. They wonder if they are something worth keeping or something they will destroy. So they allow Whis to create a team to participate and show the might of Zeno through their selected picks. Goku tells his friends and family about it and while there are no stakes, those who have the time to do so will come along to see the fun. Goku also gives this invitation to Broly and his friends. While Broly refuses to participate, Cheelai does convince him to at least watch the action.
Thanks to Frieza's spies, they overhear this tournament and how the prize is a wish from a Dragon Ball. And seeing an opportunity to possibly beat Goku, he volunteers to take part in the event. Whis, knowing Goku's wishes, asked for volunteers from Universe 6 and Universe 11. From Universe 6, Hit, Cabba, Caulifla and Kale all wish to participate. Hit specifically being hired to do so by Champa to get him that wish. From Universe 11, Toppo volunteers while Jiren and Dyspo will come along. Jiren, learning the power of team work, wishes to better himself in that aspect by trying to provide emotional support to Toppo.
So the participants of this Universe 10 will be as followed: Cabba, Goku, Frieza, Caulifla, Toppo, Vegeta, Kale and Hit. Spectators will be Beerus, Whis, Bulma, Bra, Trunks, Goten, Chichi, Gohan, Videl, Pan, Krillin, 18, Maron, Broly, Cheelai, Lemo, Berryblue, Kikono, Jiren and Dyspo. When they enter the Tournament Universe, they are surprised to see the competition.
Universe 1 featuring nothing but Supreme Kais. To Whis' surprise and Beerus' frustration, they don't seem to recognize that they're an Angel and a God of Destruction. Universe 2 has weird looking creatures, one of them even being Arale that both Goku and Vegeta remember during the World Convention Conference. Knowing her, Vegeta was worried that they're all from Gag Mangas. Universe 3 has some person with a sword and what looks like a scientist on a floating ball.
Universe 4 is only represented by the second form of Majin Buu. Despite looking the same as when they fought him, they can feel his immense strength. Universe 5 seemed to be a no show, but the organizers confirmed they are there. Universe 6 featured an alien gang while a group of earth females are next to them. And Universe 7 features a lone Namekian. Caulifla has a feeling of dejavu when seeing him, as if he was familiar to her. Universe 8 was what looked to be the full Frieza Force. Frieza looked at them intrigued to see his old forces once more. But was confused of the third figure he doesn't recognize.
Universe 9 featured nothing but humans. This surprised Krillin to see himself like the Old Turtle Hermit. Universe 11 featured Babidi and his two minions: Majin Buu and Dabura. Cabba recognized that Majin Buu from the Inter-dimensional Tournament Universe 6 and 7 had. Universe 12 had Future Trunks, but not the Future Trunks they know. Universe 13 has Vegeta with Nappa, Raditz and what seems to be Goku but working for Vegeta. And Universe 15 featured a lone woman who seemed to be pregnant.
Both Universe 16 and 18 look eerily similar to each other, but there are some differences. The biggest surprise is seeing Vegetto there. He informed them that the Portra Earings kept him together forever when Whis informs him that they were supposed to last an hour for a mortal. Vegetto seems surprised to hear this. Universe 17 featured Cell and a Cell Jr. Goku wonders if he got a Golden form like Frieza. Universe 19 have these weird looking humans with what seems to be high tech armor. And Universe 20 featured Broly in an ice cube.
Universe 16 and 18 are surprised they haven't heard of Broly, and more so when Universe 10 informs them that Broly is right there. They're also disgusted that Frieza is part of their team for all the horrible things he has done, but Goku tells them about how he helped save their universe in the Tournament of Power. Frieza is quick to reply it was only because of a promise of his resurrection and will eventually defeat Goku once and for all. And then the tournament begins.
Part 2 – Round 1
If they are not mentioned, the fights happen exactly as they do in the original Fan Manga. But these are how the matches will go when Super is included.
Universe 13 Nappa Vs Vegeta
Nappa asked Vegeta what happened to his Nappa. Vegeta responded that like Universe 18's, he destroyed his Nappa. He then went on to go Super Saiyan. Seeing that he's no match for Vegeta, Nappa forfits.
Universe 18 Goku Vs Frieza
While Goku saw Universe 8's Frieza to be weak, he can sense this Frieza to be much more powerful. Goku goes Super Saiyan, which surprises both Universe 16 and 18 because they expect Frieza to lose. The fight goes terribly for Goku. He's putting a lot of effort into it yet Frieza is playing around like back on Namek. Even going Super Saiyan 2 and 3 fail to bridge the gap. Frieza decides to end it as he has Goku by the neck. Frieza remarks that he dreams about this exact moment, but throws him out of bounds instead. He comments that while it would have been fun, it wouldn't be as satisfying as the real thing.
Universe 8 Reacum Vs Toppo
It begins as a pose off as they try to out pose one another. Recoome is impressed because all of Toppo's poses end in an explosion. Toppo offers to explain how its done if he forfits, but Recoome tells him no. Toppo one shots him.
Universe 18 Vegeta Vs Cabba
This Vegeta is closer to Cabba's power level, so it is a close fight between the two. Cabba has the edge in terms of strength, but with Vegeta's cunning he manages to defeat Cabba. Universe 10's Vegeta said it was a good try, but he's still a long way to becoming a true Saiyan elite.
Universe 18 Pan Vs Goku
Goku is impressed that Pan grows up to be a fighter. Pan knows she can't win, so she gives up. But I can see it being a nice talk between the two.
Universe 3 Tapion Vs Kale
Tapion doesn't want to hurt Kale, but knows he has to fight to win. Kale wasn't confident but with Califla cheering her on she got the confidence to defeat Tapion, even after using Hirudegarn. Universe 16 and 18 sees her Saiyan Berserk form and think its eerily close to the Broly they know.
Universe 20 Broly Vs Universe 16 Vegetto
As the fight goes out of control, Whis protects everyone from Universe 10 and offers it to anyone else. Broly looks on horrified that this creature who shares his name is more like an animal than a person. Bulma asks them why they aren't out there fighting and Vegeta informs them that this is still a tournament. So this is Vegetto's fight. Despite the power showing, none of Universe 10 are impressed.
Universe 5 XII Vs Hit
Since there is no bye, XII sends his Avatar into the ring. He tries to do the whistle trick like he would have done to Vegetto, but because of Hit's own time manipulation abilities he kills XII the moment they hit the ground. XII decides to wait until the Dragon Balls arrive before making his move.
Universe 2 Nekomajin Vs Caulifla
Basically his fight with Gotenks but one round earlier. So he takes a dive when everyone betting thinks he would win.
At night, before the Colds can execute their plans, Universe 10's Frieza and his associates arrive. He informs them to not bother as the Dragon Balls are not here. He also begins to ask about the whereabouts of Captain Ginyu. Universe 8 Frieza begins to bad mouth Ginyu as Cold shows no obvious signs. Universe 10 Frieza begins to compliment Ginyu about his loyalty, regretting that Vegeta had killed him. They leave as Berryblue and him confirm that Cold is Ginyu.
Part 3 – Round 2
Universe 8 Frieza Vs Vegeta
Wasn't even worth the time, as Vegeta wins with one hit.
Universe 14 Android 17 Vs Frieza
Even easier than when Goku fought Android 17. Frieza was disappointed since the Android 17 he fought alongside him won the Tournament of Power.
Universe 18 Uub Vs Toppo
Toppo takes it easy on Uub because he sees a nice kid. Uub does his best, but Toppo is still much stronger and more skilled than the reborn Majin.
Universe 13 Kakarotto Vs Goku
Goku is confused about how he got like this. Kakarotto goes all out, even in Super Saiyan Form, but Goku doesn't even go Super Saiyan to fight him. Goku eventually wins showing how much of a gap of power is this Goku to a Super Saiyan.
Universe 9 Kulilin Vs Kale
Krillin tried his best, but Kale was just too much for him. So he decided to go with a sob story to take advantage of what seems to be her good nature. It works as Kale gives up so Kulilin can advance. Caulifla is upset while Krillin thinks that maybe not all Saiyans are bad.
Universe 16 Vegetto Vs Hit
Vegetto is the most powerful fighter in his universe, but despite everything he just can't seem to hit Hit. There was nothing to study in the previous fight because it was over in an instant. Vegetto believes he can win if he just lands a hit, but its basically a repeat of Hit Vs Vegeta. The exception is Hit is using his Assassination Skills like when he did against Goku in Round 2. No one can tell how Hit is capable of doing so, but Majin Buu of Universe 4 seems to have a theory. Vegetto tries as he might, even going Super Saiyan 3 like he did with Broly, but Hit eventually lands a knock out blow. It normally kills but his fusion physiology kept him alive. Since Vegetto doesn't wine like he did before, Buu doesn't go nuts later on.
Universe 18 Gotenks Vs Caulifla
Caulifla does have difficulty fighting Gotenks since his fusion does put her around her level. But once he defuse, she easily takes them out. Kale asks the other Gotenks about how to do the dance.
Majin Buu decides to try to help Universe 10 in the night, but Whis and Beerus are there. Beerus destroys the Buu piece completely.
Part 4 – Round 3
Frieza Vs Vegeta
This is the other universes first chance at seeing the true strength of Universe 10. Frieza shows off his Golden form. Everyone is shocked and amazed at such power coming from Frieza. Even Buu wonders if he has the ability to defeat him. It is then Vegeta's chance to show off Super Saiyan Blue. Those who can't sense energy are amazed at seeing a Super Saiyan that isn't the typical golden form. Those who can are confused. Vegeta is showing no signs of energy. But the Supreme Kais recognize it as God Ki. They felt it was blasphemy for Vegitto to exist. But now a mortal wields the power of a deity. The fight is more intense than anything the other universes has seen. But Frieza eventually used the rules against Vegeta to get the victory.
Universe 18 Vegeta Vs Goku
Vegeta asks Goku to show him that power. Like Vegeta before him, Goku goes Super Saiyan Blue. The Supreme Kais once again are upset at the fact a mortal can wield God Ki. Vegeta admits defeat as even he knows at his state he can't beat Goku.
Universe 17 Cell Vs Universe 9 Kulilin
Krillin tries, but Cell is just too much for him.
Universe 14 Android 18 Vs Hit
Hit once again wins in one blow. But luckily due to her Android body she lives.
Universe 4 Buu Vs Caulifla
Like against Gotenks, Buu tries out the armor. She dodges the Carbonite unlike Gotenks. But once that runs out of juice, he tries something different. Buu tries to mimic Hit's fighting style. He tried to use speed, but it doesn't seem to be exactly like hits. Its still effective, but not enough to win easily like Hit. Eventually Buu out lasts Caulifla as she tires herself out.
Universe 16 Son Bra Vs Universe 8 King Cold
Happens exactly the same until the Change. Instead of going to Universe 16 to pretend to be Bra, he goes to Universe 10 to pledge his loyalty to Frieza. Seeing the return of Ginyu with a stronger Frieza, all of Frieza's forces leaves Universe 8 to go to Frieza. Frieza, Cooler and Vegitto are upset but since each of them transferred to Universe 10, they're now part of that universe. And anyone who attacks another universe outside the tournament are immediately dispelled.
Whis decides to end this farce as thanks to his own abilities, he restores both of them back to their proper bodies (well, Ginyu to Cold’s). While Frieza is glad to see his forces back to almost full force, they still need to catch up with everyone else. But Berryblue and Ginyu can help them with that.
Part 5 – Babidi's attack
Every participant who can't be controlled by Babidi is teleported away. So everyone in Universe 10 was taken away, including the newly instated Captain Ginyu. Due to his reignited loyalty to a Frieza who appreciates his contribution, Babidi is unable to bring anything out of him.
Frieza's forces seem to be under Babidi’s control, but Berryblue's authority overrides it. She commands them to not fight, which they do. One does try to say otherwise, but she proves why they should listen to her. With a lot of reduced allies, Babidi does not have a leg to stand on. Even Cell decided to drop the act when he realized there's no real need to carry on. Eventually, only Buu and Bra are still standing for Babidi's side.
Buu tries to go for the attack, but Jiren decides to step in and stop him from hurting others. Bra went after Universe 10 when she got punched a great distance. She made Broly angry.
Jiren Vs Majin Buu
Jiren is a lot more powerful than Majin Buu, but thanks to his physiology Buu is hard to destroy. Luckily the others who had experience fighting him warns Jiren of his abilities to absorb, turn people into candy and the like. Jiren thinks the only way to defeat Majin Buu is to completely destroy him. But to do so would destroy everyone around him. Dyspo then volunteers to fix that problem by grabbing him by the ponytail and bringing Buu very far from the arena before he noticed. Dyspo went back as Jiren fires a beam that completely annihilates Majin Buu.
Bra Vs Broly
She's confident that she can beat Broly since her father can do so as well. The Majin Boost even allowed her to go Super Saiyan 3. But this Broly is not only a lot stronger, but able to adapt to her tactics at an alarming rate. One moment she thought she has a tactic to give her the upper hand, the next Broly counters. Even the Senzu Beans she uses aren't helping as Broly is a superior fighter all around. With one last hit, Broly sends Bra flying back into the Arena knocked out. As he goes down to finish him, Cheelai stops him. By this point, Babidi is dead and anyone who was under his influence are back to normal.
And since that’s where Dragon Ball Multiverse is at this moment, that’s where I’ll stop. What will happen in their future? Who knows?

Day 1 - Ring
Guess who doesn’t know how to draw but wants to join in? Guess who also decided like 2 hours ago that she wanted to join in? That’s right this piece of trash! Anyway, I hope ya’ll like it.
This is based on the enemies AU which I can’t find right now where they like each other in hero forms but hate each other in civilian form. Basically, the whole gum thing happened and Adrien didn’t apologize because he felt he did nothing wrong and Marinette hates him for that and Adrien hates her because she hates him for something he didn’t do and he just thinks she's a terrible person because of Chole. Tbh I don't remember exactly the au but that’s the basic idea if anyone knows who it was could you put it in the tags or message me?

Chapter 1: Ring
"Has anyone seen my ring!?" Adrien screamed, running down the hallway and into the classroom.
Marinette rolled her eyes "Always the drama queen it's just a ring you don't have to blow my ears out,"
Marinette held no sympathy for him. The rich jerk probably got it for brushing his teeth or something stupid.
"Says you! My ears would bleed to death if you started gushing about your secret boyfriend again." He pretended to gag. "You must've scared him so bad he was forced to date a stalker like you. Anyways, can someone will a functioning human heart help me find my ring it's important." he scrounged around his bag as Rose, Nino, and a few others looked.
Marinette saw no point in telling him she could see it clearly in his gym bag. Let him look, she didn't owe him anything.
"As if you have any idea what that looks like Agreste," Marinette scoffed "what with the people you're around and I'll have you know he came to me something I'm sure you've never experienced."
"Ah yes, because being the top model in Paris for the most prestigious fashion designer doesn't get me any fame. No, that'll be ridiculous."
"And there's that famous Agreste ego. Just so you know, having your daddy give you a job isn't impressive. His successes aren't yours." Marinette bit her lip as the last words fell out. Okay so that was a bit harsh, but he did call her a crazy stalker. And last week he said that whoever her boyfriend was must be an idiot and no one was allowed to call her kitty an idiot, not even himself, so really she was just returning the favor.
Adrien went quiet, and for a moment, Marinette was scared she went too far. That is until he screamed that he found it and caused her ears to ring. She hissed the damn music Akuma from yesterday had increased her sensitivity to loud, annoying sounds and Adrien definitely fit the bill. How Nino could be friends with him was beyond her, but at least he refrained from talking about him when he was around her.
"Great now can you shut the hell up Agreste?" Marinette covered her ears and dug her head into Alya's shoulder.
Alya eyed her boyfriend, the only known Adrien whisperer that wasn't the epitome of a rich brat, to shut Agreste up.
"Girl, what's wrong?" She pet Marinette lightly on the head.
"Agreste is annoying," Marinette sighed when she didn't respond "and the techno guy from yesterday made me really sensitive,"
"Wasn't Ladybug's miraculous cure supposed to fix that? I don't find that very likely," Adrien butted clearly trying to get a rile out of her.
He knew she hated lying and the implication was downright rude, especially considering she had tried to save him from Lila! A favor she might add he repaid with telling her to let the liar be. Should've known people like them would stick together, it killed her that the only person who knew other than her was him of all people. God, she wished she would've recorded his holier than thou speech it was infuriating.
"It's none of your business Agreste," she muttered, keeping her response level.
Adrien looked like he was about to retort when Nino grabbed his shoulder with a soft no bro.

"My lady!" Chat exclaimed running to her, the usual rose in his hand.
Ladybug winced "A little softer, kitty,"
Chat slowed down and lowered his voice, "What's wrong bug?"
"Nothing, my ears are still ringing a bit from the Akuma from yesterday," she grabbed the rose and held it up in between them, "I thought I said I didn't need any more flowers, kitten," she booped his nose playfully.
"I thought your miraculous ladybug cure fixed everything?" Chat cupped her ears intimately.
Despite having gone out for a few months already, she still felt her face flush. Chat Noir she had learned quite big on physical affection, never missing out on an excuse to touch or hold her. Even the little touches sent her heart on fire. The media drastically underestimated the power of a nose nuzzles, or a hand on the small of her back had. She was melting.
"My lady?" Chat Noir murmured to get her attention again.
"Oh, umm," Ladybug snapped out of her daze, "Tikki says it might have to do with being Ladybug. She isn't really sure, but she told me that no one else should be having that problem."
"No one else!?" Chat perked up at that raising his voice "oh I'm so sorry milady,"
"It's ok minou and yeah it should be fine. Although today I was really annoyed at a boy in class who didn't believe me and kept talking loudly. He had no problem giving me a hard time!"
"A boy in your class?"
"Yeah, he's the guy you said you would fight for me last time," Ladybug giggled "I can imagine what that pretty boy would do if you went up to him. I bet he'd piss his designer pants" her giggle turned into a laugh
Chat seemed to stall a minute "You think he's pretty?"
"Aww, kitty you know I love you, besides I think he'd rather swallow an elephant than willingly come near me,"
"I-uh he..." Chat lipped his lips looking for the words
"Needs better taste? Is gonna hear from you? Something else mildly threatening?" Ladybug smiled "As long as you like me I don't need his approval,"
"What umm...what was he saying when he was loud?" Chat's worried look concerned her.
"He was looking for his ring."
