Yin Hanjiang is a little crazy.

Which, yeah, if you read the devil venerable also wants to know (Which if you haven't, you should!) its obvious that our beloved Hanjiang is a little... off at times. But I feel like I forget how crazy he was in the original novel and in the revised! (●´⌓`●)

The way he so calmly accepted his death after he thought he killed Baili Qingmiao is genuinely so chilling. Man, he just went, 'Wenren È is dead and I finally had my revenge so! Bye everyone'. So casual with it.. And all the small tidbits about it scattered through the rest of the novel was so funny. Especially at the beginning with Wenren È trying to establish some self-worth into Hanjiang's mind and his right-hand man just staring blankly at him in return. It's so refreshing to see obsessive characters done right.

I'm so happy, I've wanted to get this into print since I finished reading it. The gold spots on the cover are metallic and shiny~

It's done in legal quarto, so almost the same size as a paperback, and it fits so nicely in my pocket. I will absolutely be revisiting this one though, because I have Ideas on how to make it even better

Yin Hanjiang and Wenren È are one of the few OTP's I have where I love them pretty equally. Usually just one character is my absolute favorite

Yin Hanjiang was very rarely face-to-face with Wenren È. He hardly lifted his head, holding his teacup and watching the steam rise off it without drinking. He was almost like a marionette, with no thoughts of his own. If Wenren È commanded, he acted.

Yin Hanjiang wished to be someone like Wenren È, but he could not. After eighteen years, his temperament was already formed. He would always be a dark and twisted person.

the whole sequence where Wenren È goes to capture Zhongli Qian is so fucking funny, but I have such a special place in my heart for Zhongli Qian immediately clocking that Wenren È 1) lets Yin Hanjiang do absolutely anything he wants, and 2) would let Shu Yanyan be devoured by wild beasts in an instant if she wasn't extremely useful to him (read: the only person he knows who understands a goddamn thing about poetry or having conversations). and then Zhongli Qian arrives at Xuanyuan Sect only to see that it's apparently exclusively staffed by hot men who are mincing around cleaning and tidying?? he's a smart guy but he doesn't have any way of knowing that these are all Shu Yanyan's subordinates who are being punished for her treachery. what's he supposed to think, that Wenren È isn't somehow isn’t the gayest man alive???

svsss fans please please please read the devil venerable also wants to know if you haven’t already, i just binge read it all in 3 days bcs i’s only 80 chapters and SO good

why i think svsss fans (like me) will enjoy it:

• it’s satire/makes fun of tropes (subversive!), very refreshing characters and story

• great female cast (the plot actually revolves around a female character, you will grow to love her), girls girl kind of novel, you will at points ship f/f ships more than the main cp (none are canon, unfortunately)

• the main couple is kind of like moshang (demon sect leader and his right hand man) but if sqh was actually lbg? (YHJ lets a man be skinned and wears his skin as part of his revenge plan)

• it’s also a transmigration novel, except the book is the transmigrator

• very oblivious main cp (but it’s obvious how much they care about each other)

• Zhongli Qian (nothing more to add, find out for yourself)

a little heads up:

the romance between the main cp (Wenren È and Yin Hanjiang) is – for the most part – not the main focus of the plot (but they do have great moments throughout and i love how their relationship develops)

also! some people might find the dynamic somewhat problematic, because WRE is about 200 years older and he saved a 5yo YHJ and „raised” him (= left him on his own for 10 years?), but they never have any sort of father/son relationship, plus it takes WRE about 150 years to actually fall in love with YHJ, but just keep all that in mind

that’s all, i just need more people to know about it, because it’s all i can think about right now

Resubmitting him too because, having read the book, he is also not allo. He very clearly draws a line between love and desire, which allo people usually don't do. He spends the entire book being fairly platonically loyal to Wenren E and then when someone explains what love is and he notices that it lines up with how he feels about Wenren E, he's mad about it. Plus the aroace feeling of falling in love with someone and having that shake your entire being to the core. Also, when asked, he doesn't know what love is, but none of the characters in this book do, so.

One of the only characters that’s clearly in love/obsessed with someone at the very beginning, but the story clearly talks about how he Only Likes Wenren È specifically, romantically and sexually (probably. Haven’t gotten that far).

He spends the whole book being confused about love and romance, and why that, specifically, would be such a huge motivator for people. He has no interest in it besides how it affects someone else and causes them problems. He falls in love by the end but he still doesn't understand how love works for other people at all

The beginning part of the story is just him trying to understand what romance is and why a novel is saying he was in love with Baili Qingmiao.

Interprets “love is always seeing the other person” as “I should force Baili Qingmiao to be able to physically see this boy at all times”

He eventually becomes stupidly in love with Yin Hanjiang, but it’s a Journey. He clearly does not experience/understand romantic and sexual attraction until then (and even then I'm not sure lol)

Do you mean to tell that Wenren E didn't truly die in the Blood hell in the original "God of annihilation"?! How heartbreaking it must have been for him to break free and realize that now there is only fake and empty He Wenzhao's realm and his precious Yin Hanjiang is gone?(And I believe that in every universe he truly loves him deep inside just as Yin Hanjiang loves him and goes insane when Wenren E enters the Blood Hell)

"Wenren È arrived at the sleeping Hè Wenzhao’s side. Placing a hand on his head, he “saw” his dream. The divine nature noticed Wenren È and realized that he was the only person who could stop it from destroying the cosmos. Isn't that extremely sad and tragic knowing the fact that this scenario isn't just a possibility but a canon event that DID happen in the previous universe?
