Hey CHAOS CAKE, how are you doing?
I am doing quite well all things considered
I just want to share a bunch of things because I'm bored
1. I competed at another robot event where I did a bit better than last time... marginally (fight links)
(I think this image of Chloride sums it up nicely)
Tumblr media
2. Somehow my silly ideas post has managed to get over 2000 views, which I am still dumbfounded by.
Tumblr media
3. Big one here, @rinzay made a little comic of idea 5! Link
You probably already saw this, but I still find it amazing that one of MY ideas was able to inspire the creation of something so wonderful!
I would also just like to say, thank you.
You were one of the people who gave me the confidence to start publicly posting my ideas back when I was first getting started.
It eventually got me to start reaching out to other people to try and turn my outlines into full fledged stories, since I can't write dialogue. This is something that I would never have even thought of doing as recently as June! And I really owe most of that to you cake.
So, just know that I am grateful for all the help you have provided me. I hope that school isn't being too hard on you, and that you are getting enough time to destress and relax! I wish you luck in your comic and hope to see it inspire more people as it did me.
I do want to return the favor, so if you ever need any assistance with your projects, just ask!
Sorry of this was awkward to read, as I have stated many times before, I am not good at writing stuff like this lol
I- i-
Tumblr media
Bro I actually shed a tear, no joke,,
Awe man, ok, uhm, I'm so happy. I'm glad i was anle to inspire you, like, i was actually able to genuinely help you out, and and,, idk i dont have the words for this
But I'm also thankful, thanks for actually feeling comfortable enough to share them with me, they were really fun, and congrats on all your accomplishments (yes i saw the comic, loved it)
I honestly just, I'm really happy, it's stupid maybe, but for me, this is like my own accomplishment, that i was able to help out and inspire someone
So keep up the work, even if I'm no longer available, I'm cheering from the sidelines!
And thank you so much, my comic is going good so far. Unfortunately tho, school isn't being the best at the moment, but i can manage. I've been able to desstress when getting back home ^^
And thank you for the offer as well, I'll keep that in mind
Also, haha, poor Chloride,, definitely a tough fight XD

touching you is better than looking in your eyes
a new minublaze fic with a headcanon that suddenly just STRUCK me a few nights ago!!! 1.2k words, some suggestive lines, but mostly talk about dealing with disability
Tumblr media
"May I... touch you?"
Minuet smiled at how nervous and polite Blaze was, now that they were alone together. There was no show, no one to impress, it was just them. It helped Minuet to relax as well, as a fellow chronic show off.
"Yes, of course," she murmured, nodding. Blaze nervously smiled, and gently reached out.
It was awkward, especially at first. He gasped as he put his hands on her cheeks and began traveling downward. "You're so small..."
Minuet chuckled, placing one of her own hands on the back of one of his, making him jump and blush. "Heh, yes, quite different feeling the size difference rather than seeing it..." She had a blush of her own, especially as one large purple hand dipped around her thigh and squeezed before looping back upward. It hesitated at her choker for a moment, feeling at the lace and satin, before cupping her other cheek again. He rubbed each cheek with her thumb, surprisingly gentle, even gentler when her face pinched and she made a small sound of discomfort at the feeling of her glitter being rubbed at. He gasped when his fingers found her beauty mark.
"You've got a mole!" he said, and Minuet would have felt offended if anyone else said that, but he just sounded awed, a bit of a smile on his face.
She giggled a bit in confusion, though. "Of course I have a mole, it's my beauty mark, one of the most obvious parts of my face...?" She paused.
Blaze still had his sunglasses on. She reached out, and he just barely flinched when she touched his face in turn. She lifted the glasses, only having to gather up three or four pairs to see his eyes. He was looking directly at her, sure, but... his gaze almost seemed to be looking through her.
She tilted her body to one side. His hands were still on her face and stayed there, and his gaze followed, with barely a hint of hesitation. She pulled his hands down to her shoulders and tilted to the other side, and he still followed... but didn't quite land on her face. She was dumbfounded, and didn't want to believe her theory, but... she finally held up a hand. "How many fingers am I holding up, Blaze?"
Blaze grimaced. "Uh..." He wasn’t looking at her hand. He was still looking at her face. Mostly.
He suddenly grabbed at her hand but she was quicker, moving it away with a gasp of shock.
"Blaze, are you blind??"
Blaze gulped. "Uhhhhh..."
Minuet tilted her head again, squinting. He kept vocalizing, but his eyes didn’t seem to quite follow her properly. If she made any noise, they'd land on her very exactly, but only then. And even so, she only knew that because she was one of the few people who regularly saw him without his MANY glasses. Which... she'd tried them on before. They were very dark... the way he layered them, she was practically blind when she tried to imitate that.
If he was actually blind, he wouldn't care, would he?
Blaze finally gasped as he ran out of air, and sighed. "Ok. Fine. Yes. I'm blind."
Minuet frowned, gently putting a small hand on his cheek. He placed his own over hers, practically engulfing it as he leaned into it. "Blaze... why didn't you say anything?" she asked, gently.
"...pretty much everyone back home knows already... I figured people would notice pretty quickly here. But... then they didn’t. And… even though rock trolls are pretty great about not being bothered by disability, and supporting it... you still get strange reactions, y’know? Even if I can't see a look I can feel it... so it was neat, not having people ask if I needed help down stairs, or telling me when they're ready for a stage dive, or offering too much visual description for something..."
"...those sound like... good accommodations, but like they would get a tad annoying after a while."
"Exactly," Blaze breathed emphatically, suddenly gripping her hand and grinning with excitement. Then he gentled, releasing her hand. "I sometimes need those things. But other times, even if people are casual, they make it harder. So I just... end up trying to find control, and..."
"...seem annoying in the process..." Minuet murmured.
"Yup."
Minuet nodded. "...oh gosh, your air guitar must feel extra real because you can feel it and don't have to imagine a visual as well!"
Blaze chuckled. "Since they're from my imagination, they're the clearest thing I can "see". To be honest, I was shocked and... way too excited when I realized I could "see" your guitar nearly as well as mine."
Minuet smiled gently, and then blinked as she realized... Blaze couldn't see it. "I'm... I'm very glad I was able to connect with you over air guitar then, Blaze."
He grinned. "I'm still SUPER impressed that you managed to fight your own vision and actually get it. Not many people can, especially adults... Val mostly gets it cuz we grew up together, and she still can't always play the instruments she sees."
Minuet nodded, making sure Blaze felt it. “I’m glad you had her…”
Blaze snorted. “Pfft, we still act like siblings. We HATE each other even if we’d probably murder a troll for each other if need be.” Then his look softened. “But you’re right, as always… I am grateful for her.” He looked a bit nervous, and then leaned in, gently pressing his forehead to hers. “...and for you…”
Minuet blushed, giggling as she suddenly felt all hot and nervous. Blaze almost felt like a different person in private, so much more polite and kind…
Her giggling cut short as she realized he may be compensating, trying to fit the stereotype that he had been forced into, of the inattentive asshole who didn’t bother to look where he was going and cared more about his performance than the trolls around him.
Classical trolls didn’t normally do this, but… she hugged him.
He gagged, and she was sure she was clinging too tight, but then he adjusted and held her back. His voice sounded strained, somehow, when he spoke. “Thank you, Minnie,” he choked out, and Minuet couldn’t tell if he was holding back laughter or tears. “Thank you.”
Minuet nodded into his shoulder. “Just let me know if I get too overbearing, Blaze,” she insisted, “or I won’t be able to forgive myself.”
Blaze finally laughed, a very wet laugh. She felt him let go of her with one arm and wipe a tear away. “Of course. Gotta be honest to a fault. You know me.”
Minuet snorted. “Except when you lie to cover your reputation…”
“That was one time, with Rose and Romper…”
“Twice, with the tattoo… did they know you were blind, by the way?”
“Oh, yeah, totally, I’m sure that’s the only reason they didn’t comment on my hairy sandwich…”
They talked like that for a while into the night, continuing to cuddle and explore each other with his new information in mind… and Minuet with an ever predictable determination to learn exactly how to politely accommodate her boyfriend.
~
A/N: I hope you enjoyed!! I am planning a rewatch of the show to see if there's any specific place where this headcanon could be DISproved, but for now it's basically an AU :) I think it would be super appropriate considering... well, everything about them. especially minuet's own self esteem issues and blaze's imagination being so powerful he can effect the real world...
EDIT: ao3 posting!!

Highschool Red Velvet reaction to their crush asking them out on Valentine’s Day
Irene
Tumblr media
“You guys are so cheesy...”
Joohyun scoffed teasingly after her friends were done raving about their romantic plans for tonight, causing Sooyoung to elbow her.
“Be careful what you say. Rumor has it that Y/N will ask you out today.”
Her friend snickered smugly, causing Joohyun’s heart to instantly skip a beat when she heard your name. But in front of her friends she played it cool.
“Y/N? What do I care about Y/N? Valentine’s day is just a commercial holiday created by capitalism and I won’t support that.”
She claimed confidently, making Sooyoung huff in annoyance. Right when she looked like she wanted to reply with a snarky comment though, Sooyoung suddenly got distracted by something behind Joohyun and her expression changed to a mischievous smirk. Confused, Joohyun turned around to follow the gaze of her friend and froze in an instant. You were running square to her down the hallway with a wide smile on your lips and a huge bouquet in your hands.
“Hey guys.”
You greeted them a little out of breath, but Joohyun was too speechless to say anything. Were the rumors really true? Would you finally ask her out after she had had a crush on you for so long?
“Oh hey Y/N.”
Sooyoung grinned before pushing Joohyun closer to you.
“Hey.”
This time your greeting was only aimed at Joohyun and she gave you a small, awkward wave in reply, because she was still not really confident in her ability to speak.
“Um...I’m too nervous for a big speech, so I will just cut right to the chase. I mean you’ve probably seen this coming anyway. So here I go... Do you want to go out with me tonight?”
You asked while scratching your neck sheepishly and holding out the bouquet. Nervously, Joohyun stared at the flowers, trying to calm her heartbeat to be able to answer your question. But before a single word could leave her lips, Sooyoung suddenly piped up.
“Oh Y/N, I’m sorry to tell you this, but I’ve just talked with Joohyun and she said that she didn’t suppo-“
She said with a mischievous glint in her eyes, but Joohyun quickly stepped on her foot to stop her from finishing her sentence.
“Nothing. I said absolutely nothing.”
Joohyun glared at Sooyoung, who had a hard time containing her laughter, before turning to you again.
“I would love to go out with you.”
She admitted with a blush creeping to her cheeks, forgetting all about her speech from earlier. She had waited too long for this to care about principles.
“Really? Oh my god. Awesome...Um I’m going to pick you up at 7?”
You stuttered perplexed, managing to make Joohyun smile with your adorableness.
“Perfect.”
She nodded before taking the flowers out of your hands and smelling their sweet scent.
Maybe Valentine’s Day wasn’t so bad after all...
Seulgi
Tumblr media
When Seulgi walked down the hallway and saw someone meddling with her locker, she tilted her head in confusion and picked up her pace to catch the intruder red-handed. A few steps before her locker, she recognized the person though and her expression softened.
“Oh hey, Y/N.”
She greeted you, causing you to flinch in shock.
“Seulgi...”
You gasped before hiding a piece of paper behind your back.
“What do you have there?”
Seulgi asked curiously, wondering why you seemed to be so nervous.
“Oh this? I just wanted to ask you...if you wanted to have lunch with me later.”
You chuckled while fidgeting with the piece of paper in your hand.
“Why didn’t you just send me a text?”
Seulgi laughed in amusement, finding your behavior extremely weird today. Usually it was her that behaved like a fool in front of you.
“You’re right, I didn’t even think about that...”
You replied, but Seulgi only listened to you with half an ear, because she got distracted by several students that were passing by with flowers and letters in their hands. Confused, Seulgi looked after them before remembering what day it was today.
“Is it Valentine’s Day today?”
She asked while staring at the letter in your hand deep in thought. Instantly, you hid the piece of paper behind your back again and a dark blush started to appear on your cheeks, causing realization to strike Seulgi like lightning. Could it be that you had wanted to ask her to be your Valentine?
“What did you say the letter said?”
She probed carefully and your gaze darted back and forth between her and the letter until you eventually handed it over with shaky hands.
“It says that...it says that I really like you.”
You stuttered sheepishly, causing Seulgi’s eyes to widen although your words essentially only confirmed her suspicion.
“You do?”
She asked in disbelief and you nodded shyly. Speechlessly, Seulgi opened your letter to assure herself that you were telling the truth and her smile grew bigger with every line that she read. Your sincere words brought tears to her eyes and she had to fight the urge to cry until she reached the end of the letter. Do you want to go out with me? You had written like you were still in middle school and given her three answers to choose from, causing her to giggle. Yes, No, Maybe. With a fluttering heart, Seulgi folded the letter and looked straight into your eyes again.
“Yes.”
She smiled widely and your face lit up. With a loud cry of joy, you jumped in the air and lifted your fist victoriously as if you had just won a championship.
This day had definitely taken a different turn than she had expected...
Wendy
Tumblr media
“Hey, Seungwan.”
The moment you flashed Seungwan a smile and plopped down next to her, she felt her heart frequency reaching unprecedented levels. Sheepishly, she put a strand of hair behind her ear and looked at her lap.
“Hey, Y/N.”
She replied, feeling how she started blushing when her voice cracked. After months of being your lab partner, she was still not able to play it cool around you...how pathetic.
“Did any secret admirers confess their love to you already?”
You asked to start a casual conversation, causing Seungwan to laugh awkwardly. What secret admirers? The only one who was helplessly in love here but too shy to ever confess was herself.
“Nope I guess they are still waiting for the right moment...”
She joked, but you stayed unusually serious.
“So...you’re not doing anything tonight?”
You asked while glancing nervously at her from the side.
“No, Valentine’s day is overrated anyways.”
Seungwan chuckled nervously to cover up her disappointment. She would have loved to go out tonight, but unfortunately, the only person that she was interested in hadn’t asked her out...
“D-do you have something planned?”
She quickly added, trying to distract from the fact that she would be alone today.
“Well I had something planned but it turned out that the girl I wanted to take out doesn’t like Valentine’s day.”
You answered with slouched shoulders and Seungwan immediately picked up on your gloomy mood.
“Oh no! Maybe you should still ask her? Maybe she will make an exception for you.”
She tried to cheer you up even though it hurt her to encourage you to ask out another girl.
“Do you really think so?”
You asked hopefully and Seungwan quickly nodded her head.
“Definitely!”
She gave you two thumbs up to underline her statement, causing you to chuckle.
“Ok...so will you make an exception?”
You looked at her nervously and Seungwan furrowed her brow in confusion. Make an exception for what? Intensely, she thought about your question until her eyes widened in realization.
“I’m the girl?!”
She gasped and you shook your head while laughing in amusement.
“Yes, it’s you Seungwan.”
You smiled shyly, causing Seungwan’s heart to almost swell twofold.
“Well, I don’t want you to be lonely today...so I will make an exception just this once.”
She answered, trying to sound indifferent, but she couldn’t stop a wide smile to take over almost half her face.
“Lucky me.”
You chuckled and the two of you simply smiled at each other until your teacher eventually stormed into the room, announcing a pop quiz. Reluctantly, Seungwan averted her gaze from you, but kept smiling to herself.
Nothing could ruin her mood today.
Joy
Tumblr media
“Dear Sooyoung, would you do me the honor of going out with me tonight? Oh my god...no. I can’t ask her like that. How old am I?”
Nervously, you paced up and down in front of Sooyoung’s classroom with a bouquet of white asters in your hand while practicing how to ask her out. You knew that the probability was very low that Sooyoung would actually let you take her out -after all she was the most popular girl in school- but you had sworn to yourself that you would at least try before graduation. And you were friends for ages already, so what could go wrong? Despite your desperate attempts to calm yourself down, your heart was almost jumping out of your chest when the school bell finally rang and the door of Sooyoung’s classroom swung open. Your grip on the flowers tightened and you scanned the faces of the many students that left the room. In true Sooyoung style, however, she seemed to enjoy putting you on the rack and took her sweet time to show up. You were already beginning to wonder whether she had skipped class when she finally stepped out of the room...with seemingly a thousand bouquets and plushies in her arms. Dumbfounded, your grin faltered, and you let your hand with the flowers fall to your side. How could you have been so dumb? Of course, you wouldn’t be the only one who would try their luck today.
Bummed out, you wanted to flee the scene before Sooyoung would notice you, but just when you were about to disappear into a group of passing students, Sooyoung’s eyes met yours and a big smile appeared on her face.
“Y/N! Did you wait for me?”
She asked excitedly while walking up to you. Panicked, you tried to hide the bouquet behind your back, but once again you were too late. Sooyoung’s gaze immediately zeroed in on the flowers and she curiously raised an eyebrow.
“Did you get those?”
She asked in a tone that wasn’t even half as nice as the smile that she had just flashed you a second ago.
“Um...no.”
You stuttered sheepishly, not knowing how you should wriggle out of this situation.
“Will you give them to someone?”
Sooyoung kept probing and you nervously avoided her piercing gaze.
“Yes... but you don’t know them.”
You answered breathlessly, causing Sooyoung to eye you suspiciously.
“So, you’re telling me that you’re going to meet up with a person that I don’t know, although we’ve basically spent the whole school year together, to give them my favorite flowers?”
She tilted her head to the side to demonstrate you that she wasn’t believing a word that you were saying, and you sighed in defeat.
“Ok, fine... There is no mystery person. I-I wanted to give them to you. But it seems like you don’t really need any more flowers.”
You revealed grumpily while pointing at the expensive-looking bouquets in Sooyoung’s hands. You waited for her to laugh at you for your naivety, but instead, she suddenly walked away. Dumbfounded, you looked after her, observing with an open mouth how she threw all the flowers into the next garbage can before returning to you. Expectantly, she looked at you while holding out her empty hands, ready to accept your flowers. Your brain had trouble processing everything that was happening right now, but you still managed to hand over the bouquet with shaky hands.
“Is that all?”
Sooyoung chuckled when you continued to stare at her wordlessly and you quickly cleared your throat.
“No...”
You replied hesitantly before inhaling deeply to calm your nerves.
“Just ask me, Y/N...I will say yes anyways.”
Sooyoung said calmly, managing to boost your confidence.
“Sooyoung, do you want to go out with me?”
You asked, sounding halfway confident and finally Sooyoung’s bright smile returned to her lips.
“Of course, dummy. I’ve been waiting for ages for you to ask me.”
She giggled before pulling you into her arms.
You definitely hadn’t predicted this outcome with your contingency analysis...
Yeri
Tumblr media
“How do I look?”
Yeri asked Naeun for the thousandth time, causing her to roll her eyes in annoyance.
“Still the same as five minutes ago. Still amazing.”
She sighed and Yeri grinned proudly.
“Ok then wish me luck. I’m going in.”
She fixed her hair one last time before picking up the box of chocolates and flowers that she had brought this morning. After drooling over you for almost a year, she had decided to finally confess her feelings to you today. It was Valentine’s day after all. So if not today, when? Yeri’s heart was still beating out of her chest as she was walking to your usual meeting point behind the school and she needed to do calming breathing exercises. How would you react? Could you ever think of her more than just a friend? Nervously, she rounded the corner and instantly felt her heart skipping a beat when she saw you standing there. You had your back turned to her, but only this simple sight of you caused a million butterflies to tingle in her stomach. With excitement taking over her body, Yeri picked up her pace and positioned her face right behind your ear when you didn’t notice her even though she was merely a step away from you.
“Boo.”
She breathed into your ear causing you to jump in surprise before spinning around. Once you stood face to face, however, it was Yeri that was dumbfounded. In your hands, you were holding the exact same flowers and box of chocolate that she had wanted to give you. Confused, her gaze darted back and forth between your hands and her hands until you started to giggle and managed to catch her attention.
“Seems like we had the same idea.”
You grinned and Yeri’s eyes widened.
“Wait...are those for me??”
She exclaimed a little louder than necessary, causing you to laugh.
“Yup! I figured it was time that I finally take you out.”
You announced proudly and a huge weight lifted off Yeri’s shoulders. Overflowing with joy, she flung her arms around your neck, not caring about the bouquet that she was crushing in the process.
“I was so scared that you wanted to stay friends forever.”
She sighed dramatically and you chuckled in amusement.
“Believe me, Yeri, you made it really obvious that you didn’t want to just be friends.”
You teased her, but Yeri shrugged unconcerned after she had pulled away.
“Being subtle isn’t my strong suit. Come on, let’s tell everybody.”
Leaving you no possibility to protest, she intertwined your fingers and pulled you towards the cafeteria.
Why should she stop wearing her heart on her sleeve if it got her here?

Smash Game  |  Send Me A Prompt💜 |  A Reblog Means SO Much!!!!
.-
Alphard Black was a good man,  a man of his community,   a man of the law. He taught the ins and outs of the constitution  at Columbia, never went an inch over the speed limit, hell, he even  separated his recyclables into their proper piles for the garbage collector, and  all while spending his down time volunteering at some sort of virtuous charity or impactful outreach program for inner city youths—the man basically leaped right out of the screen of some cheesy, after school special, wacky ties and rumpled hair aplenty.
Alphard Black was a virtuous, humble man who abided by the laws set out for him to a painstaking degree—So Sirius sorta thinks it’s hilarious that he’s kind of the exact antithesis of his uncle— the man who brought him up after running away from his bat shit parents and their bat shit values as the top of the one percent.  Just kind of though.
Sirius likes to think he’s still a good guy—albeit in the typical, non second coming of Christ wannabe kind of way.  He gives spare change to homeless folks at Grand Central, doesn’t sneer at raucous kids inside of restaurants or busses… for fuck’s sake  he even smiles at strangers more often than not—— just the typical, What a nice day isn’t it, smile and not, I’m actually a blood thirsty maniac ready to carve out all your organs and wrap your naked, dead body in saran wrap Dexter style, smile…Which is actually a type of smile Sirius has become intimately familiar with considering that unlike his Uncle Alphard, Sirius may have a problem with the whole “Laws are created for the good of the public,” ideology, and rather subscribes to the way of thought that thinks it’s kind of thrilling to see how much you can bend and skirt around the rules till they break, or till he gets caught. Which in turn mostly manifests into Sirius participating in a very high demand business—the sort that’ conducts it’s transactions within the metaphorical underground, and makes it so he spends his days with a group of brilliant  assholes that he considers family, and a discretely wicked boy who he thinks is most probably the love of his god forsaken life.
Mother Mary,  help them all.
~*~
“Padfoot too Moony, are you in, Moony.”
A moment of static passes before Remus’s voice trickles through the minuscule bluetooth  snuggled in Sirius’s ear, and he can’t help but smirk. “Why are you still trying to make these codenames work—they don’t work, they’re all awful and trash,  and we should just stick with the numbers we were given when Moody first scouted us.”
“Mmm yeah, Moons, talk dirty to me.”
“You’re a fucking idiot,”
“Say trash again.”
“I hate you,” Remus intones. He  sounds all surly and bothered, and Sirius’s fingers curl together to card through the phantom strands  of his hair, knowing full and well how adorably flustered Remus gets whenever they are having one of their little sparring sessions—It’s also the same look he gets whenever he’s incredibly turned on and has no idea how to handle it. Coincidence? Sirius thinks not.
“Ah, Moony, my love, you say that as if my perfect baritone isn’t the highlight of your day. Like you don’t write sonnets and odes about it’s every cadence and lilt in your little diary you think I don’t know about. As if—“
“I’m shutting you off now,” Remus cuts in with his best, I’m trying to pretend  that I am so totally annoyed even if I’m actually really amused by you and all your antics, voice. It’s one that’s basically come second nature to him whenever he speaks to Sirius, ever since they had met three years ago and Sirius had to teach him the trick of the trade after Remus had been invited into the fold, while also trying not to completely accost him with his lips and hands and teeth until the work day was over.
“You would never.”
“You seriously have an overinflated sense of worth if you’re starting to doubt that I very much would,” Remus goads, but he forgets that Sirius can see every nook and cranny of the swanky penthouse from his perch in the getaway van, thanks to his very beautiful laptop monitor.  And yeah, Sirius can so totally spot that little flicker of a grin tugging on the edges of his pink lips,  where Remus is trying to hide it behind the flute of wine in his grasp—his very strong and capable grasp, one that’s wrapped around the neck of that glass just so tight—Oh, erm, yeah. That’s  a thought Sirius should definitely not be having at their current predicament.
“Righto, beautiful, whatever you say.”
“Was there an actual reason for your little interference, besides you being pissy that you had to take the get away position this time around?” Remus sighs, long suffering before offering a subdued, half grin to a very haughty looking woman passing him, predatory leer on her plump lips. And jeez, Sirius bemoans her poor eardrums if they’re suppose to be carrying diamonds that thick all night long— Poor hag will probably end up needing stitches like his dear mother.
“I missed you is all, lover.”
“Goodbye, Sirius.”
“Oh fine, you total spoil sport. Just an FYI that Marlene’s gotten into the volt’s room, and she’s decoding it as we speak.”
“Oh, good. Should I-“
“Moons, it’s Marls, she’s got her shit handled. You just stand there and be a the good, pretty honeypot that we all know you can be.”
Remus growls somewhere deep in his throat, and it’s bringing a flurry of such beautiful imaginings to the forefront of Sirius’s mind— including last night, with Remus’s lovely, thin wrists tied up and Sirius’s mouth trailing up and down his every patch of skin.
God, was that a good night.
“You’re a pain in my ass.”
“I know, it’s a point of pride for me that I get to say I tap that. But hey, always game to switch things up if you are?”
“You are the absolute worst person ever.”
“Ooo are we circling back around to speaking filthy things, because I’ve been having this fantasy including you and these lace—“
That’s when Remus actually does shut off the communication device, and starts chatting up some smarmy businessman who can’t stop staring at his protruding collarbones.
Sirius is most certainly not jealous.
Nope, not at all—Not even a little bit.
Sirius is not jealous.
Okay, fine…So he’s a bit bothered, but can anyone blame him? All of that—chorded muscles and sparkling eyes—is reserved for  Sirius, and Sirius alone. It’s taken years of volleying barbs and really intense sexual tension that was all finally resolved after a way too dramatic spat outside some sleazy BDSM club on the wrong side of town where Sirius got himself fucking shot, and Remus couldn’t stop yelling at him for being such a mother fucking, idiotic, thoughtless prick, (Remus’s words not Sirius’s,) for them to finally get to this point. For fuck’s sake, it seemed as if Remus’s anger fueled diatribe would never end, so Sirius just took the dilemma into his own hands and slanted their lips together, bloody and breathless, panting out an “I love you too,” while Remus just patted up and down Sirius’s torso, not knowing where to put his hands, dumbfounded and eager. As if he could hardly believe that it was actually happening, as if he was shocked that Sirius had finally just put them out of their mutual misery and spoke out loud what’s been lingering in their gazes, and tailing the ends of too short exchanges for years at that point—ones always composed of banter and barbs but always to fearful to take the extra step they yearned for.
Yeah, so it wasn’t exactly a cinderella story level of romance, but the point is they’ve fought tooth and nail to finally get to this point in their relationship. Nights made up of spilt hair on warm sheets, and  hungry kisses of farewell, and shirts tumbling together so many times that  they don’t even know which belongs to who anymore—All of them lingering with a sent of both of them, together. Something intimate. Something remarkable. Something far too soft when considering their line of employment—But it works for’m, and that’s all that counts.
Before Sirius could get to lost in getting all starry-eyed over the life they’ve built for themselves, Sirius moves to sweep his hands across the keyboard, A cautious eye still on Remus and his unwanted suitor while dividing the screen so that he can check back on Marlene’s progress, which is quite impressive if he does say so himself.
“And Black Widow pulls through again,” He commends with a low whistle, watching her practically stroll out of the volt, ancient artifact securely settled in the bag swinging off her shoulder, and cocky sneer proudly splayed across her pretty face.
“You know it dweeb.”
“THat’s not my code name,” Sirius points out  with a put upon exhale.
Marlene’s only response is to hike up her manicured brows in counterfeit surprise.  “you sure? I could’ve sworn…”
Sirius legitimately contemplates just driving off and leaving her stranded, signaling to Remus a separate meet up point for just the both of them. But Eventually, he reasons  that might be a bit of an over reaction. So he settles for just growling out a reminder for her  to “Respect the name,” while a glowing Marlene slinks into the passenger seat.
“Your so precious.” Sirius swats her hand away where she’s begun rubbing her knuckles into his scalp. “Call pretty boy and let’s bounce, will you?”
Reluctant, Sirius listens—only and only because he’s about ninety nine point five percent positive that she could probably beat’m to a pulp with one hand tied behind her back and both eyes glued shut.
~*~
The mission was one they’ve been calculating for months, a huge catch with a credibility brought with it that doubles its actual monetary prophet—(And wowza, that price check is all levels of ridiculous.) Moody is beyond  proud, and tells them as much with a crazy large celebration back at their little underground headquarters, (which is actually an entire floor on one of the top levels of a huge ass skyscraper in the meatpacking district that disguises itself as just a financial consultant firm in the light of day.)
It’s made even more wonderful considering how he, Remus and Marlene are basically the guests of honor for their success. So that night  they drink, and dance and just generally get absolutely slobbered…Then subsequently remember nothing the following morning, as tradition always dictates.
Though Sirius does  distinctly remember trading sloppy hand jobs in the bathroom with Remus while the latest Beyonce banger pounds in the space between them.
 It’s a good night.
~*~
Unsurprisingly, the hangover that persists even two days later really makes Sirius question the worth of all that celebrating, and he ponders on whether or not being sober would be so bad.
“Morning, Black!”
Sirius cringes back at a crowing Dorcas—Looking as wickedly gorgeous and put together as always—Dark eyes clear and methodic, and long curls obviously freshly washed.
“Sorcerous!” He accuses with as much vehemence as he could muster. “your evil! How are you even so perky! Stop it! Stop! You’re hurting my eyes!”
Dorcas just preens with far too much amusement than what should be warranted—it’s almost as if she’s enjoying his pitiful disposition. “Not all of us got as sloppy as you Saturday night may I remind.”
“Then you’re doing your entire life incorrectly.”
“I just have a modicum of self restraint, unlike you.”
“Lies! Lies and slander! I am so very disciplined! I didn’t even tell you guys about the time Remus gave me a blow job in the middle of a glass elevator when we were shopping for Jamsie and Lily’s engagement gift!”
Dorcas just rolls her eyes heavenwards, painstakingly exasperated. “C’mon, dumb ass, Alice needs you to use those hacking skills of yours to get the money Lestrange still owes us for collecting those tears of the ocean. And her bank account is sealed shut.”
“Ah, no Cas ’s too early! And my head hurts! I can’t.”
“Shouldn’t have been such a drunken mess during the party I reckon,” Dorcas scoffs with an imperious tilt of the head, tugging him along without even an ounce of sympathy.
“Hey! It was a celebration!” Sirius flails, and Dorcas just looks at him with a decidedly unconvinced glower.
“It’s all in moderation Sirius.”
“Not at a party it isn’t!” He argues back, totally knowing he’s in the right.
“Yeah whatever, you’re just lucky you weren’t sent off to Shanghai with lover boy, which by the way,” Dorcas pivots on her heels  to face Sirius straight on, prodding at the juncture where his neck meets his shoulder.  “Looks like you missed a hickey sweets,” she toots loftily, poking at it again, a flush blooming across Sirius’s cheeks in response.  “Not good work decorum if you ask me.”
“You’re face ’s not good work decorum,” Sirius snarks back mulishly. Dorcas just laughs with glee.
“Do I need to talk to poor, innocent Remus about proper biting placement for you once he gets back?”
“Pff, Remus and innocent don’t belong in the same sentence.”
“Fine, then  I can just give you some tips on how to properly layer foundation? I’m sure it’s a travesty how easily shit shows up with your Wonder Bread complexion.”
“You actually are evil! Aren’t you?”
Sirius could still hear Dorcas’s cackles from down the hall where Alice has set him up for the morning, and he idly thinks to himself how exactly he’s made it so that every woman in his life could destroy him with nothing more than a look.
~*~
Considering that all of their  livelihoods are basically glorified bank robbers, Sirius knows that their jobs don’t really lend themselves to being able to check in on each other whenever they’d please—the only devices they’re allowed for communication are the bluetooth sets  for the team deployed on the task at hand, and a single burner. It can get annoying sometimes, but Sirius and Remus always make it a point to send each other a message from the router phone  whenever they arrive to the mission’s ground of operation—It’s a practice ingrained into them, one  they began long before they ever started dating, one  that they never break, not even if they’re arguing or it’s the middle of the night—It’s important. They’ve both lost to many people in their short lives, and they both know how it feels to be delegated to the worrying mess, wondering what’s happening to their loved one, being consumed by the most awful of possibilities. They do it because they respect each other far too much not to.
So Sirius finds it excruciatingly odd that he doesn’t hear from Remus in over thirty-six hours since he left to the Shanghai hit.
“Maybe he just forgot, Pads,” James shrugs, always the level headed ringleader. “No Proclivity is absolutely bullet proof—Ah, excuse me for the unplanned pun.” He scratches the back of his head a little sheepishly— the glasses of his wireframes glinting in the light of their shared workspace.
And the thing is, point. James is totally right. Remus just could’ve forgot. It was a long plane ride, he could’ve just been jet legged and a little dazed and it could’ve just slipped his mind  to message Sirius when he landed. That’s totally a possibility.
But see the thing is, that’s also totally not a possibility—like at all. Remus is like the most diligent person on the face of the planet, which may kind of seem out of character considering how he’s more of the type to follow his heart over protocol when it counts, and his entire livelihood is based off the evasion of the law—But even still, Remus is also the guy who likes a true and tried method. He likes having security in the aspects of his everyday  life he can control. Sirius knows how borderline neurotic Remus can get about certain things, like finishing all of his paper work the night it’s given, or having a stable workout regiment, and a bunch of other minuscule, everyday things that tethers him. But Sirius also knows that the texts Remus sends him blows all of those out of the water. They’re something crucial—something vitally important. If the roles were reversed, if it were Sirius who forgot to send the text, then yeah, Remus would have a perfect history to look back on and just shrug it off as Sirius having been thoughtless, no big deal. Remus would just make a note to give him  an ear full when he gets back.
But the rolls aren’t reversed.
It’s Remus who didn’t send anything, and Sirius knows it in his heart of hearts that this is not normal, that Remus would never have forgotten. Remus would never have fucking been able to go to sleep without passing Sirius a message of safe arrival. It’s just not him.
James still looks unsure even after Sirius’s way to verbose and borderline babbling explanation of why he knows something isn’t adding up, so he decides to hit him below the belt.
“If this were Lily you wouldn’t be second guessing this.”
James jolts back as if Sirius had just smacked him, which Sirius guesses is kind of true, in the metaphoric sense at the very least. But whatever, Sirius’s right, and he knows it.
IF this was Lily— the beautiful, kind baker that James had met coincidentally on a random Sunday afternoon, someone completely divorced from this world— well, there would  be no room for discussion.
“IF this were Lily you would trust your gut, and we’d already know what went wrong. We’d know that you were right, the she wasn’t safe.” Sirius’s face feels heated, and he knows that his throat is closing up, but he can’t help it god damn it. This is Remus—And even the thought of him being in any way hurt—No, Sirius refuses to think that way. Because he’s not, he can’t be. This is Remus god damn it. He’s brilliant and strong and he can handle himself. He’s what everyone in their group secretly strive to be—He’s not hurt, he can’t be hurt.
James just sits there, gawking at Sirius, for a moment of pure and utter silence. Sirius doesn’t even flinch, doesn’t fold back from the intensity in his best friend’s— his brother’s— gaze.
“This is Remus god damn it, James”
Something fierce rippling over his face, James nods, finally seeming to understand.
“Let’s tell Moody,  and call a group meeting. We need to figure out what the hell’s going on.”
Sirius sags with the little relief he’s given, pretends that it doesn’t feel like there’s not a wildfire still spreading over his chest  from the  bone deep fear.
~*~
Two hours later finds their little ragtag group huddled in the largest meeting room they have, and  Sirius hunched over a menacing letter that was hand delivered by one of Lestrange’s ghoulish little minions— Crouch if their intel is correct.
“Any news is good news, right?” Peter— their mousey little researcher— says in some weak attempt of comfort from where he’s silently been situated in the love seat the furthest away from the lump some, and Sirius replies by snarling viciously at him;  making Peter shutter back, like the spineless weasel Sirius has always assumed him to be.
Sirius is not comforted. Sirius is furious and sick and he hates everything  in sight. And all Sirius could think of is Remus, Remus, Remus.
“What do we do,” James’s voice is strong, convicted in the painful silence of the room—But when Sirius looks up, he could still see the worry etched into his handsome features, and the fear threaded into his stance.
James is scared, and that might worry Sirius more than anything else could.
“This is my fault, I sanctioned just stealing the money she owed us and I was the one who thought Remus would be fine on a solo mission—I thought it’d be a simple grab. I didn’t put two and two together—I just didn’t—“ Alice breaks off, looking away from the group, and Frank slings an arm around his wife’s slender shoulders.
“Hey now, ’s not your fault, ’s not no ones,” as if to emphasize his point, Frank gives a downright menacing grimace to everyone in the room, daring them to disagree. “It’s Remus, he’s resilient. And that bitch knows if he’s actually hurt we’ll destroy everything she’s ever built for herself.”
“Don’t be so sure,” Sirius’s surprised of the jaggedness of his own voice, leveling him with a look of utter fury. “She’s a psychotic, selfish, self indulgent bitch—There’s worse things than just beating him up or locking him in some cellar.”
From the corner of his eye he sees Alice shutter, is briefly reminded of that stint where she was badly injured after a run in with one of the darker ringleaders in their line of work, Riddle. And then he remembers, unbidden, how that bastard has some sort of fucked up Harley Quinn, Joker esthetic going on with Bellatrix Lestrange— and a sick, twisted part of Sirius that actually does blame Alice for sanctioning those two risky missions so close together, is savagely pleased of the effect that the reminder has on her. But the rest of Sirius is just disgusted by himself and hates himself even more when remembering where Remus is at this very moment, and what he must be going through. There’s no time to be pointing fingers, and Sirius knows it.
“Whatever, no time to think of it now,” Sirius rises, and the way all of their eyes follow his every move (Even Moody who is the actual boss— doesn’t go over his head.
“What do you think we should do from here?” Dorcas asks in a small voice, clutching onto the letter like a life line—She’s Remus’s best friend, Sirius knows that, knows that she stopped only skirting  along the edges of this unsavory line of work until Remus came along and helped her wiggle out of her shell. And the reminder makes Sirius feel such a burst of aching for Remus all at once that he nearly topples over, just barely catches himself with a hand on the tabletop.
“Peter,” Sirius barks, making the blonde finally straighten. “Check out where Bellatrix is scheduled to appear next.”
“Ah, erm on it, of course.”
Sirius starts to feel a little better—no not better, balanced. He knows what needs to be done, what will   happen next, knows that it’ll turn out all right.
It has to turn out all right, because he can’t fathom a world where it doesn’t— a world without Remus isn’t worth even a breath.
~*~
If there’s anything that Sirius knows about supreme bitch face herself, it’s that Bellatrix is  cavalier to a fault. So it really doesn’t surprise him when Peter finds out that she’s holding a little gala for her new play things art exhibit in her own home that night, and Sirius intends on giving his congratulations, whether or not he’s on the guest list.
~*~
“Hey, can you hear me.”
Sirius presses an inconspicuous finger onto his eardrum when Dorcas’s voice breaks through, speaking the affirmative.
“All right, well Moody says that upstairs is most likely where you’ll find’m. Marlene and James will stay down at the party just incase anything goes wrong.”
“Right,” Sirius nods to himself, trying to put together all the new information that’s swimming in his mind. “Thanks Cas.”
“Stay safe, and bring him home. Don’t fuck this up, Sirius.” Her voice is small and fragile. Sirius could picture the gleam to her big doe eyes. “We need you both safe.”
“Of course."
~*~
As expected, the upstairs is a labyrinth of doors and alcoves that Sirius could barely wrap his mind around, the only constant thought is that it makes sense that Bellatrix would want to keep the money from the job she had them perform for her. The rent for this place definitely can’t be cheap.
Sirius tries at least ten different rooms before he comes across one that’s locked from the inside as well as a deadbolt, and His heart seizes with a choked sort of hope before he starts pounding against it.
“Remus! Remus! Are you in there!” His voice goes ragged at how loud he’s screaming, but Sirius doesn’t let up. He starts calling  for him even louder if possible. “Remus!”
“Ah, ah, ah,” Sirius stiffens, his blood running cold before slowly turning around to a very amused looking Bellatrix Lestrange. Predatory sneer swept across her blood red lips, and weight slung to her left hip. The picture of radiance and leisure in her slinky, black dress. She’s having fun toying with Sirius, with all of them.
“Where the fuck is he,” Sirius spits out tersely—trying to sear wholes right through her disarming face. He thinks with a start  that she’d be pretty in an almost unchanging way—a timeless elegance that kind of mirrors Remus’s. But where beneath Remus’s golden exterior is all passion and goodness and an endless capacity of love, under Bellatrix’s pale white skin and dark eyes and sheets of even darker hair is just ugliness and cruelty and Sirius has never hated anyone more, or so intensely.
“Oh sweetheart, I’m so sorry that they sent the best of their group to the den,” She swaggers up to him, each step premeditated—a lion closing in on her prey, and her leer right then— self assured and cruel all at once— is like a mirror of his mother’s so thoroughly that it’s painful. “I’d really hate to ruin those movie star good looks you’ve got going on,” she runs the back of her hand down his face slowly, tendrils of her warm breath edging his lips. “And honey, you really are so deliciously gorgeous. But Moody needs to learn that no one double plays me so flippantly. No  respect, that kind of behavior  really can’t be tolerated. You understand that, don’t you  love?”
Right then, Bellatrix moves to  gouge Sirius right in the stomach with a dagger she had hidden in the sleeve of her dress—but Sirius’s quicker.
He sweeps Bellatrix’s feet right from under her, twisting her arm behind her back and using her own weapon to chop off the doorknob, all in one fluid movement. Though,  he only has a sparing moment to feel boastful before he steps into the room to find Remus—sickly looking with blood matted in his golden locks, before everything turns to a buzzing in  the background—Sirius runs on autopilot, with the only crucial thought being to get Remus out safely.
“Baby, I’m here, I’ve got you.” Sirius tells him with the words catching in his throat, and feels such a drowning amount of relief when he hears a gargled retort from Remus. “I’d never let anything happen to you, love. I’m so sorry. I’ll never let something like this happen again.” Sirius tells him with all the earnestness in the world, gently collecting him into his arms. “I’ve got you now, I won’t let go.” The promise is  as sure and true as the pump of his heart—Remus, Remus, Remus.
~*~
When they all return to headquarters, everyone circles a still limp and shallowly breathing Remus, while Dorcas figures out the extent of his injuries.
It’s the worst hour of his life Sirius thinks—The not knowing, it hurts like nothing else. And he swears once more, to himself and the moonlight and the stars peeking through the skyline that he’ll never let this happen, never again., doesn’t want Remus ever out of his sight.
~*~
A week later, and everything feels as if it’s back to normal—more or less.
Their bedroom smells like sage—thanks to the candles Lily bought Remus for his last birthday—And Remus’s swaddled into the most comfortable blanket Sirius could find—his twisted ankle elevated, and a fresh bowl of soup on his night stand.
It’d be the picture of absolute bliss… Now if Remus wasn’t scowling so morosely.
“You seem mad,” Sirius notes, standing over him with a freshly fluffed pillow. Remus looks up at him from under his spider leg lashes, so very unimpressed.
“You’ve never taken care of me  nearly so intently   a day in your life.”  Remus charges.
“Untrue!” Sirius squawks in contrary.
“When I got food poising from that sushi place last year, you blamed me for eating it wrong.”
“Yeah, well it’s blasphemous to ever blame Kimiko! The woman is a titan!”
Remus’s mouth quirks up, his eyes twinkling with unadulterated adoration. “You’re an idiot.”
Sirius deflates. “Okay, so I might be kind of majorly mother penning it right now,” Remus cranes a incredulous brow. “Okay, okay so a lot mother penning it. But, Remus— love— you were missing—like legitimately missing. And then i found you and you were…” He trails off, can’t even speak the horrors of that night.
“Yeah, I was,” Remus links their fingers together, pulling Sirius closer, and opening his mouth so that when Sirius crouches to come face to face, he can kiss him properly.  “But you happen to be a pretty all right boyfriend, you found me—I’m fine. You made sure of that.”
“More than all right prick,” Sirius knocks their foreheads together and Remus feigns being in excruciating pain. “I fucking hate you,” he snorts, saddling against Remus’s side, and nuzzling into his neck, taking in the miraculous scent of him— the citrus and cinnamon and sunlight that he’s come to crave at all hours of the day. “I love you sort of a lot, and it was the worst three days of my life, all right. Can you understand that?”
Remus only hums,  kisses the tips of Sirius’s fingers before lacing them into his own.
“I understand, love, but Sirius, I’m fine. I’m here. You’re amazing, but you don’t need to protect me. Not constantly. This is our lives, and I need you to trust me that I can handle myself for the most part. All right?”
Sirius makes a displeased sound, lips curled distastefully, and it makes Remus actually giggle like they were school boys again. And Jesus, Remus’s smile is blinding and beautiful and fucking hell, he’s here. He’s back in there room, back in Sirius’s arms.
“God, I missed you.”
Remus crunches upwards, kissing Sirius, and it feels like a promise that he’ll never leave him again. “I love you Sirius.”
Sirius leers, isn’t ready to have the conversation about learning how to let Remus go out without him. So instead he traces his thumb over Remus’s beautifully plump bottom lip, and bends down to whisper into his ear. “So can we talk about the lace then, because I’ve made some purchases and—“
Remus pushes him off their bed, and Sirius feels his laughter punching out of him in response.

Best Friend Tings~
A/N: This idea came to me and then boom! This might be a whole series of headcanons i got so many ideas bro!!!!
Summary: Sometimes in life having a best friend is better than getting a s/o
Pairings: Izuku Midorya x GN!Reader(Platonic), Katsuki Bakugou x GN!Reader(Platonic), Shoto Todoroki x GN!Reader(Platonic), Hitoshi Shinso x GN!Reader(Platonic)
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya
We can see from the show he didn’t have any friends before u.a(katsuki doesn’t really count)
So boy must have been lonely before ua like todoroki
He nerded out by himself, no one else to talk to other than mama inko
So meeting you made his life better
he’s up to date on meme culture too
You slide in one vine reference during a convo ONCE when you met and he responds back subconsciously with his own
Instant connection
Like lightning strikes and you both just do the spiderman pointing at each other meme
Vine might be dead but that won’t stop you
Both of you start turning into beams of light
He gets sparkle eyes when you both don’t stop with the vine references
Numbers exchanged and you both find out to be major nerds for certain shows
Late nights are spent sending each other memes/videos and the next day you both are holding in fits of giggles
When the dorms are put in place pure chaos
Yall are inseparable
There’s a lot of sneaking around because guess what you’re doing instead of sleeping
watching✨✨TikToks✨✨
Or watching those Russian car crash videos
You go into a youtube deep dive at 3 am together
One brain cell is shared between you two ok
Deku squad are the vibes ok
Ilida can’t believe how 2 of some of the smartest people he knows can turn the exact opposite
“Ilida can you do us a favor? Would you be willing to run while holding us like balloons?”
“What are you talking about!?”
“Ilida me and (Y/N) thought of having Uraraka join us by making us float and have a rope tied around us with you running around!”
“As your class president I will not allow you to do such a thing-!” Cutting him off you turn to Izuku
“I told he wasn’t gonna say yes.” Sighing in disappoint.
“Should we try Kacchan?”
“I’ll do the talking got it!” You leave behind a dumbfounded Ilida wondering why his friends can be so smart yet do such stupid actions.
Do not be fooled though
You call out izuku when necessary, you both may be chaotic with one another but like hell!!!! you’ll let him slip up because you’re besties and actually have brain cells(sometimes)
From the glare you’re sending him he feels like a disappointment because he caused his bestie trouble and worry
In conclusion: Yall are ride or die
Were talking the strength of the pillars of those temples in Greece
Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugo
It kinda just happened before the classes eyes
Like no one gets how bakugo manages not to blast your eardrums everyday
He just somehow sees you’re genuinely trying to be friends with him and get to know him
At first, he thought you were some extra following him like the rest of Baku squad at first and somehow saw that you don’t see him godly or anything you just really enjoyed being around him
Slowly you both understand one another
He’s kinda scared cause I don’t think bakugo has ever been like close close with someone before
So it’s slow like his friendship with Kiri
Speaking of Kiri cause this is a package deal if your friends with bakugo
You both will just watch him when someone pisses him off
“Someone tried to test him right,” you said while passing Kirishima a water bottle. Coming back from the vending machine.
“Yeah he did” he replies deadpanning at Bakugou’s antics
You may be mostly a duo but its also a trio sometimes
So when he gets captured there’s a 50/50 chance that he will come to you
you managed to get knocked out during the attack so seeing one another safe really just lifts the blanket of fear off
So when the dorms come in he will barge into your room and start up your console and play
This distraction won’t last long cause at some point he just sits there stuck in his head
He holds back tears but you just help him through
Really just strengthens your bond
From then on he comes to you and he’s very vague on details but you just comfort him
somehow you both from this experience learn how to read what the other is feeling
If you have something going on the perceptive as ever bakugo will see and somehow do the thing that just gives you a boost, he’s not either an intimate or verbal guy
He’s trying his best alright
The same goes for you in bakugo accept your just a tad slower and use your words instead
Best friend soulmate ✨✨tings✨✨
One of your past times is either playing fighting games or just relaxing in his room
Like you both will lay on the ground, speaker blasting, taking turns putting on songs
Feeling the vibrations
Its how the aggressive boy cools down/relaxes
Being angry all the time is tiring
One time you were in a room with someone as they insulted bakugou
Right in your face not only did you defend your best friend but you also whooped some ass that day
Conclusion: the best friends that just get each other
Tumblr media
Shoto Todoroki
(If you’re an endeavor stan I don’t know what to tell you for this one)
Now hear me out on this
You find Endeavor hilarious
He is just the funniest person to you
Like just looking at him makes you cackle
So when todoroki fights midoriya and he used his fireside everyone was shocked because no one has seen him use it yet!!
But when you see endeavor on the other side of the stadium scream “SHOTOOOOO!” you burst out full-on laughing!!! WHEEZING IF YOU MAY!! Like do you not see his face
When he came back to the stands you just turned to him holding in a laugh
“Hey, Todoroki how are you so serious all the time with your dad looking like that all the time?”
“I beg your pardon?”
Don’t get me wrong he was pissed because like baby just had a mental breakdown but this type of comment is new to him
“Don’t you see how ridiculous he looks with those flames of him like damn. Of all the places! Why his fckin calves!!!!! Like what kind of egotistical man does that”
Todoroki hates his dad so you bashing him really opens up doors for you
Now to me, I think todoroki throws insults at everyone without even knowing himself
Like under his breath he will say a comment you will catch it and hold in a laugh
So you bashing his father made you an a+ in his book
And so the duo begins
Since todoroki does insult people without knowing you are there to be his audience
You will stifle and hold in giggles and laughs as you stand right next or behind him
Once he realized this he subtly increases the amount he says on the daily(These arent basic insults either but they aren’t harmful, plain fun ok)
One time your laughing got to the point Aizawa threatened to separate you two
But still, you helped cracked the boy’s frozen heart
Lots of hugs though cause the boy needs it
Once you’re close enough in the friendship you jump and hug the boy in surprise
Gets a little startled but loves the gesture cause guess what yall are besties
Opening his door, Todoroki meets the sight of you holding a pile of food. Ready for movie night. Quickly placing it down on the coffee table you jump and give him a hug. He stumbles a moment before he wraps his arms around your waist.
“Why are you hugging me? We saw each other all day.”
“Just thought you needed it.” Mumbling a thank you you go to the coffee table. The surface spilling with bags of snacks.
“I have my soba and more if you want any. I even got those candies you like.”
“Really! Thanks Sho-kun! I also got those chips you really enjoyed the last time. So you ready?” With a hum you both sit down opening the food you'll be eating for the rest of the night. Grabbing the remote Shoto hits play, the screen lights up to show the Disney logo.
Many movie marathons and binge-watching nights because you need to show him so much
When these hangouts happen you have hardcore munches together
You both will have a buffet of food because boy does he love his soba and you love to do to bring an entire pile and bag full of food
Just appreciates you and all you do for him
Will definitely sneak in really expensive gifts to you
Loves to watch Disney movies with you
Conclusion: you are the best friend he needs, he wouldn’t have you any other way
Tumblr media
Hitoshi Shinso
Both of you met in gen studies class
At this point, everyone in the class knew one another names and stuff and when word got to you of his quirk oh boy
He was minding his business sitting in his desk
Slightly wishing he was dead or wanting to vibe at home
But here you come strutting on over and say hi to him
He was kinda nervous cause everyone knew his quirk and just got all those villain comments
You just talk and say how cool his quirk is and he’s like ‘aw shit here we go again’
Instead, you just ask why he isn’t in the hero course
Like his quirk amazing for that shit
He’s shocked alright
So you both just stick together
You are his wild friend taking him on adventures as he complains saying he would rather watch a movie or do something
Low key in on your plans
He trusts you with his life so don’t take advantage of that
Teases you on a regular basis
Is the type of friend where if he makes fun of or teases you
You’re his friend
at the sports festival, you treat him to lunch because he deserves it!!!!
He made it to the last round
And fought MIDORIYA!!!
“You don’t have to do this you know.” Dragging Hitoshi around the food stands he tries his best to stop you from doing this. Even if it’s your treat he rather pay himself.
“Hitoshi I swear if you don’t just pick what you want for lunch I’m fighting you.”
“I’m being serious you don’t have too. I didn’t even win against him.” You come to a halt both hands on his shoulders. Looking him in the eye you reassure him.
“You may not have won but you made it to the 3rd round. Do you know how amazing that is! A general studies student made it that far! You did that! You showed everyone we might as well be just as good as the hero course students! As your best friend to, I must treat you for this accomplishment.” This time he grabs your wrist. Pulling you around until he sees a food stand that peaks his interest. A soft smile on his face happy to call you his friend and to have someone care for him like you do.
He is the reason why you're an insomniac now
When you blame him for your sleeping schedule he just says in the deepest and seductive voice “it was part of the plan”
Makes you want to punch that handsome face of his(but you wouldn’t you love the boy too much)
Sometimes you guys sneak cats in like your dorms just somehow manage to have cats in them
The fur is everywhere but their you fur babies
You both spend your time playing board games and sometimes inviting the deku squad cause Hitoshi has a pretty chill relationship with Izuku(plus their too social for their own good)
So things become waaaaaaaay more lively
Both of your social batteries though are completely empty
There is late-night cuddling though as weird as it sounds
when you take turns slipping in one another’s dorm you both manage to hug like it’s super platonic and just find it comforting waking up to one another
the bond so strong that you protect one another even when you sleep
Conclusion: the besties that mess around one another but are like this🤞

Declawing the Cat- Chapter 1
He just couldn’t figure her out. No matter how many times he’s tried to wrap his head around it, Felix Graham de Vanily couldn’t solve the mystery of Marinette Dupain-Chang; not why she did the things she did, or how, or why she seemed to infuriate him to no end…
It had all started when his brick head of a cousin had the bright idea to convince his mother to transfer him to his school. The two of them had recently moved closer to the Agreste household for more “family solidarity”, but it seemed as though Adrien needed even more quality time with cousin dear.
“Are you sure this is a good idea, Adrien? You know Felix isn’t the most social child. Do you really think that your classmates will welcome him as you say they will, even after the incident?”
“I’m positive, Aunt Amilie. The kids in my class are very kind and believe in redeeming others if they apologize. I have no doubt in my mind that they’ll forgive him. I mean, look at how they accepted me when I first started going there. They could have shunned me and thrown me aside like trash, but now I have a lot of friends. The same will happen with Felix, for sure.”
“Well, if you really think so, then it's a beautiful idea,” said Amilie avidly. “What about you, gabriel? Do you think that our sons should go to school together?”
“It will be beneficial for Adrien to have a good influence around the school with him to make sure that he doesn’t try to rebel and become like his… recalcitrant peers,” said gabriel without glancing up from his designs.
“And you, Felix? Do you want to go to College Francoise-Dupont?”
Felix gulped. He didn’t really want to go to school with his ridiculous cousin, but his mother really seemed to like the idea, and he’d hate to disappoint her ...
So that’s how Felix ended up going to school with the same kids he duped. Even though Adrien can be way too gullible (someone really needs to tell him that life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows and not everyone can be trusted), Felix soon found that he was indeed right about his friends. When he arrived there a few weeks ago, it only took a small smile and a half-baked apology to get them to trust him. One might think that Felix would be sulking at the mere thought of going to school with these losers, but he had decided beforehand that if he was going to have any fun at this school, he was going to have to toy with this naive group of teenagers to cause some trouble, and what better way to do that than to make them think he was on their side?
“Guys, this is my cousin Felix. He’s going to be attending school with us for now on. I know you guys will take him in with open arms.”
Kim cut in. “Is this the same cousin that pretended to be you and replied to the videos you sent us?”
Nino had something to say as well. “Why should we trust anything he has to say? He hasn’t exactly given us any reason to like him.”
“Yeah, how can you expect us to just become friends with us after what he did? He’s a liar!” Alya declared.
The rest of the class chimed in with arguments of their own, and who can blame them? It definitely didn’t feel good to be deceived. Soon, the whole courtyard was filled with angry yells and upset students. Adrien, bless him, was trying his best to calm them down and explain.
“Well-”
Felix cleared his throat. Talking ceased and all eyes were on him: Adrien’s glancing nervously, and the others’ full-on glares.
“Hello, everyone. As Adrien just told you, my name is Felix Graham de Vanily. To answer your question, Mr. Le Chein, yes, I’m the cousin of Adrien’s that impersonated him and sent you a cruel response to your heartfelt videos. For that, I am deeply sorry. I have no excuse for what I did. I can only hope that you all will find it in your hearts to forgive me for my terrible sin.”
You could hear a pin drop. All of the students were giving each other and Felix calculating looks. Should they believe him? Was he really telling the truth? After a few beats of deafening silence, Mylene spoke up.
“If you’re really sorry...”
“Oh, I am, you can be sure of that, Ms. Haprele,” Felix nodded, puppy eyes fully on show.
“Then… I suppose everyone deserves a second chance, right guys?” she continued, looking around at the others.
Slowly, the rest of the group started nodding their heads. Where there was anger and hurt towards Felix was now acceptance and forgiveness. Why not forgive him? Of course he was telling the truth! Why on Earth would someone lie to gain our trust only to be able to play us for fools right underneath our noses? It’s not like it’s ever happened before. Oh, if only Lila was here to greet our new friend! It’s too bad she’s away in America doing her internship at NASA!
The group, who were once resentful and angry at the fancily-dressed boy that was in front of them, began to crowd around him, smiles and name introductions all around. By the way they were acting, you would have thought that they all have been friendly with Felix since birth. Amazing what the power of deception held when used right.
He recognized most of them from the terrible videos they had sent Adrien: the manic pixie girl, the ultra-nerd, the stupid jock, the wannabe dj and his amautur reporter girlfriend.
And what a reporter she was! Neither she nor her dim-witted friends could see through his act. They followed him like lost puppies looking for an owner. The only person who didn’t seem to believe him was her. Felix didn’t see her in the schoolyard for his “apology”, and he noticed she never seemed to be around if he’s in the room.
Honestly, he’d thought that Marinette would have been the easiest person to convince. Only a silly, pigtail-twirling, school girl would send such a pathetic confession. “AdRiEn, I LoVe YoU. I’Ll AlWaYs Be ThErE If YoU NeEd Me”. Puh-lease.
But she never seemed to be around, Felix didn’t see her in the schoolyard for his “apology”, and he noticed she never seemed to be around unless they were in class. He sat in the back, and spent most of his time conjuring up plans to recruit her, for after a few days of observations, he’d been able to work out that he had underestimated her. By a lot. Felix found out that she was class president and a good one at that. She was seen as a leader by the others, but it didn’t seem like she used deception to earn that respect. She was actually kind-hearted, selfless, and true. If she wasn’t so annoying and stubborn, those characteristics might have even been...admirable. She really could be a great ally to have by his side. But by jove, was she ever making it difficult. Eventually, he’s been able to talk to her alone. To sum it up, it definitely could have gone better.
During lunch hour, Marinette was on a bench in the park. She was sketching on a notepad, most likely designs for a new sewing project. Felix learned from Adrien that Marinette was a very talented aspiring designer, which took Felix by surprise. You’d never guess that this girl was into fashion by the way she dressed (Felix could not stress enough how atrocious those pigtails were), but he digresses. He isn’t here to insult Marinette’s clothes, though he could do so some other time. He took a deep breath and strode over to Marinette’s seat.
“Ah, Ms. Dupain-Cheng! How lovely it is to see you. We never seem to talk, do we? It is quite a shame really.”
Marinette didn’t move a muscle. It was as though he hadn’t said a word! Ok, well, give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she’s really focused on her drawing?
“I must say, that is a lovely suit that is a lovely suit you’re designing there. I love the use of gold thread on the pants. If I may make a few suggestions-”
“No, you may not. As a matter of fact, I’m going to stop you right there. Don’t say another word.”
“I-I beg your pardon?”
“You heard me.” Marinette set her notepad aside on the bench and rose up from the bench to look him in the eye . Never in his life had Felix seen a stronger glare, and even though he was a good head taller than Marinette, he felt as though she could crush him like a grape. Of course, he didn’t let it show. What would it say about him that he shakes like a kitten in the presence of a 4’ 11” teenage girl?
“Now Felix, I’m only going to say this once, so listen up. I know you have everyone else fooled with your nice act, but I’m not as stupid as you seem to assume. You think you’re the first fake I came across? Don’t make me laugh; you’re not even close. Heck, next to Lila, you’re just a petty gossip. The rest of our classmates seem to have put the video incident in the past, but let me make it crystal clear that it is still fresh in my mind. I meant to share something extremely personal with Adrien, we all did, and you screwed that up. You hurt all of us carelessly as if our feelings were nothing more than spinning tops. You know what that makes you?”
Dumbfounded, Felix couldn’t do much more than shake his head.
“It makes you a little bitch. And I don’t associate with little bitches. So unless you can prove to me that you really are turning over a new leaf for good, I don’t want to say one word to you unless absolutely necessary and vise versa. I’ll stay out of your hair, and you WILL stay out of mine. Capisce?
Without waiting for a reply, Marinette turned her heel, grabbed her notebook, and began the walk back to school.
Well, he must admit that Marinette won that round. She certainly was a challenge, but luckily, for Felix liked puzzles. He was going to get Mari to like him, even if it took every ounce of strength and scheming he had in his body.

Poppy Fanfic: “Ask Her”
For context: This is a fanfic I wrote in order to join the Poppy Milk dev team and show off my writing skills. Since the callout at the time said we’d need to write a lot of sidequests, I wanted to ask the question of what a Poppy-centered side-quest would be like. I got the idea that it would be from an Asker’s perspective, and everything sort of came naturally after that. Even though I’m on the dev team right now, it’s not canon to Omega Timeline: Poppy’s Story and even has some inaccuracies that contradict canon. With that said, please feel free to read the story below the cut.
---
You noticed something very different inside your room when you woke up. The lights were off and the sun hadn’t yet risen, but there was a certain… aura, coming from your door. You were filled with a certain trepidation, but… you approached it. It was hard to see in the light, but it looked… grey.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you stepped through...
...and found about the last person you would’ve expected. The spitting image of Frisk - CORE!Frisk, that was, looking up at you, in the middle of a white void.
“Wh- You’re real?!” you asked, dumbfounded.
“Of course I’m real. Have you been taking all this multiverse stuff for granted? Everything is real somewhere,” Core answered, simply.
“I… I don’t… and you, me…” you panted, starting to feel a small panic attack coming on.
“Focus,” Core snapped their fingers, grounding you back in reality. Okay, this was happening now.
“Let’s get down to business. Simply: you don’t like me. And I don’t like you. But we BOTH like Poppy. Poppy, my dear, sweet angel… has unfortunately recently come to the realization that Askers ALSO exist in the multiverse. And now she wants to do a ‘meet n’ greet’ with one of her fans. Trust me, I TRIED to talk her out of it, but she can be darn persuasive when she wants to be. And as you’re now realizing, that’s where you come in.
“I wanna make you a deal. You play along with whatever Poppy wants until she gets bored of this. If you’re on your best behavior - and that means, don’t give her anything bad, don’t tell her anything you KNOW she shouldn’t know, don’t use any magic, and be a general good influence - if you play nice, in exchange, I will allow you to hang out with ANY resident of the Omega Timeline.
“Want to spend a day full of wacky hijinks with a Papyrus, or even an Underswap Sans? Consider it done. Want to know how Deltarune Chapter 2 plays out ahead of time? I know a Susie with your name on it. Whatever you want, so long as you play by the rules, and don’t ask for anyone obviously ridiculous. So… do we have ourselves a deal?”
You contemplated that offer, and everything that was happening, trying to suppress your inner urge to geek out for just a few moments. The Omega Timeline, Poppy, and all the AU’s you could think of and more were real. And you just got an invitation to visit them.
“Yeah, of course!” you nodded excitedly, though your enthusiasm only seemed to make Core more anxious.
“Don’t make me regret this…” Core sighed, as the whiteness seemed to melt away into a cozy-looking house with wooden floors and lime walls, where you were standing directly outside of a white door. Core seemed to have disappeared.
Technically, there was nothing stopping you from exploring. So you did just that. You walked up to a shelf with some family photos. One was a photo of Poppy, Core, Dusted and Rust all together, in some meadow, looking happy. At least, you assumed Dusted and Rust were happy, they didn’t show up well on camera. There was another photo of Poppy alone, looking somewhat younger than she did on the blog, seated on a chair in a photo that looked far more staged. She held an actual poppy flower in her hand and smiled brightly.
You opened the cabinet doors, curious of what knick-knacks you might find in there. Some crayons, a few random glass cups, some art by 3-year-old Poppy that was so poorly done its meaning was hard to decipher, and a locked box. You reached for the box--
“Getting a bit sidetracked, aren’t we?”
You jolted up, and faced Core behind you. Even though they were child-sized, they crossed their arms with the poise and authority of a stern parent. You laughed anxiously. “Ahahaha… ahaha… ha……..”
“...Strike one.” Core said, and vanished. The meaning of that was all-too clear. Deciding not to dilly dally any longer, you went to the room you suspected to be Poppy’s, and knocked.
“Just a sec!” Poppy said, and opened the door. She looked up at you, and gasped. “Wow, Granpa really did come through…!” She twirled excitedly. “You must be my adoring fan, aren’t you?” she asked.
You stared down at the girl in stunned silence.
“To be honest, I kinda figured you’d be some gray guy with sunglasses, but that’s kinda silly in hindsight. How you doin’?” She asked that last line in a mock accent as you continued to stare.
“Baby,” you said.
“What?”
“Nothing,” you quickly tried to change the subject. “Yeah, it’s… y’know, it’s great to be here…” You clasped your hands together, biting your lip. You were in an Undertale AU, faced with the AU granddaughter of another AU character. You still weren’t entirely over that. Was this fever dream? Fandom heaven, or fandom hell?
“I know! Once I heard you guys weren’t from the Omega Timeline, I realized I hadn’t met even ONE of my fans… even if you guys are super annoying some of the time.”
“Uhhh, yeah…” you wondered if you should apologize on behalf of the askers who put Poppy in the hospital that one time. Then again, it seemed kind of awkward, and it might have been best not to bring that up while Core was watching, which was always. Looking down at the cutesy girl, it was almost tempting to pull her into a hug, but you managed to keep your composure.
“I wanted to do something a little more special than just some sorta interview, though, because you ask me questions all the time anyways,” Poppy said. “Granpa said you’ve never been to the Omega Timeline before, so I wanna give you the big tour!” Poppy went to the door. “I’m gonna be outside when you’re ready!” She left the room.
Seeing the empty room in front of you, you were tempted to snoop again, but you’d learned your lesson after last time. You headed straight out after Poppy.
You couldn’t help but gasp in awe of the serenity of the great outdoors as you were beckoned to it. You’d been outside before, obviously, but everything just looked so… nice. The blue sky, the grassy grounds, the ornate buildings… you’ve seen this place in pixel art and a couple drawings before, but seeing it with your own eyes was another story. And the next thing for you to nearly faint at was seeing the Undertale characters running around, Sanses, Undynes, Frisks, even goat moms.
Poppy smiled. “...It’s nice, isn’t it? I KNEW taking you on a tour was a good idea.” She smirked. “Now remember, just because this is a meet-up doesn’t mean it’s free, and there WILL be a fee at the end of our ride.”
“...Uh… I left my wallet at home,” you said, patting your pockets, “And I don’t have any, uh... ‘G,’ I think. Unless the G stands for ‘Gratitude,’ amiright?” you did finger guns.
“G stands for Gold,” Poppy corrected you bluntly, unamused. She returned to her chipper attitude just as quickly, though. “Now, let me show you around!” She led you down the street.
Walking with her, seeing so many versions of your favorite characters in the flesh, walking around… well, the temptation to talk to SOME of them was irresistible, Core be damned. You did resolve not to go too far off-track, but you shared some words with the folks you passed by, Poppy thankfully stopping each time you did. You met two Frisks - one boy, one ambiguous - an Underswap Undyne, a human version of Toriel, and surprisingly, a version of Princess Peach.
You and Poppy approached an elegant fountain, stood upon proudly by a statue of a mustachio’d CORE!Frisk. “This is the Timeline Plaza! It’s sort of the local park, where people meet up to do... stuff. Just hang out. Make a picnic. Play ball. All that good park-y stuff, y’know? And there’s stores in all directions, so it’s pretty good.” She proudly showed off her home to you, with a smile.
You talked to more on the way to the next place. An Inverted Fate Papyrus. A weird Ralsei who said his name was “Noyno.” An Asgore wearing a hoodie, who you assumed was swapped with Sans. (Poppy did scold you a little bit for this, telling you that just because someone has a hoodie you shouldn’t assume they’re swapped. You apologized.)
“This is Grillby’s! One of them, anyways. The nearest one to my house. It’s pretty good if you want an OK burger. Sanses love the place, though. It’s… kind of unhealthy. And a little gross.” Poppy said. “Especially when they just drink… raw… ketchup.”
“Can’t handle a little ketchup?” you smiled mischievously. “We drink it by the gallon back in my universe,” you lied.
“...I really hope you’re joking,” Poppy said, alarmed.
“Am I?” you smiled brighter.
“...W-well, we’re not going in there, so you can FORGET about drinking that much ketchup!” Poppy said, afraid of the sheer power of your ketchup-drinking.
You and Poppy moved onto the next spot. You met an Underswap Alphys who seemed to be trapped in a red-and-gold palette. You met a robot dressed as a circus ringmaster, who claimed to be a Chara. You met a Dummy dressed in a Frisk shirt. (You didn’t assume it was swapped with Frisk this time, which turned out to be a mistake, because it was.) Poppy stared at you awkwardly now, wondering why you were talking to all these random strangers. Finally, you and Poppy reached your next destination.
“The theater! Where we show off all the greatest hits! Including MY movie, which, not to brag, but it’s--”
Except, you’d been distracted by a hyperdeath Asriel, and were ignoring Poppy for the moment.
“...” Poppy spoke up. “That’s what I don’t get about you.”
“Huh?” that seemed to wake you up, and you looked at her.
“Everytime it’s always, ‘have you met Underswap Sans,’ or ‘have you met JangoTale Frisk,’ or some other weird thing. You always ask that. But… they’re just people. Why do you always assume I know some random Sans or Frisk or someone?”
“I…” you were a bit taken aback. “...I don’t… we don’t assume you know them, they’re just… they’re just important.”
“Important?” She asked. “...I-I mean, yeah, EVERYONE’s important, but, I don’t really get what you mean…”
“They’re all--” You paused, trying to collect your thoughts, think of everything you knew from the blog, and tried to actually talk to her. “...They’re like friends to me. Kinda.”
“...You guys are friends with them? I thought you were stuck in your world…” she frowned.
“No, it’s like-- I’m not ‘friends’ with Underswap Frisk, or-- or Storyshift Frisk, or Shifty or whatever, I’m just friends with… Frisk.”
...Poppy stared at you like you just said the ground was turning to jelly, or something equally bafflingly inane. “...I… think you’re confused. Look, sometimes newcomers struggle with this. Your Frisk isn’t the only Frisk--”
“I know! It’s… You don’t get it. This world, these worlds are so special and creative, and they mean a lot to me. I know we can be really edgy, and I know we ask weird questions about Dusted and Rust, but that’s all because… because...” you paused.
Poppy looked, seeming upset about hearing her siblings mentioned in the context of ‘edgy’ questions, not seeing what you were seeing. Core, standing behind her, holding up a hand signal.
The number two.
You were getting carried away. You overstepped.
“...Um… I’m sorry.” You pulled her into a hug as Core vanished. “There’s really no reason for us to ask those questions. We can just be dumb sometimes.”
“...” She hugged back. “Yeah, it’s okay. I knew you guys were super weird and dumb before I convinced Granpa to let you in here, so I guess I should’ve seen this coming,” Poppy smiled, regaining her confidence as you did your best to not be offended at being called weird and dumb.
“Okay! I think I have just one last stop in mind to cap this tour off on a high note! Literally, hehehe…” She giggled mischievously. This time, you didn’t stop to talk to others, following her directly as you approached a peak overlooking the town. For yet another time, and probably the last, you couldn’t help but ogle at the town’s beauty. “Pretty good, right?” She sat down.
“Ha… with all the climbing, I was worried we’d fall down a mountain,” you joked. Poppy seemed to roll her eyes, as you sat beside her. “...I guess I get how you can call this place home. I mean, once I stop nerding out, anyways. You don’t see stuff like this in my… reality.”
“Just gallons and gallons of ketchup, huh?” she commented. You couldn’t help but laugh.
“Yeah.”
And you two just stared into the distance for a while. ...She wasn’t just a character. She was a human being.
...Or, technically just a ‘being,’ scratch the human part. Still, you felt a bit desensitized to all this. And so did she. You related in that way.
“I can’t say you exactly passed with flying colors, but you fulfilled your end of the agreement well enough.”
Without any warning, you were back in a white void with CORE!Frisk, just like before. You almost forgot about the deal you made, what with all the time you spent with Poppy. You stood.
“Uh… yeah. So, my reward…” you drifted off, remembering the offer Core gave you. The chance to meet just about any AU character of your imagining… or at least, any that would be peaceful enough to be in the Omega Timeline. Which still left a WIDE variety of options…
Who did you want to see? What mattered most to you?
...
Thinking deeply… you told Core their name.
“...Oh. Really? Well, I guess it makes sense for you that you’d want to see them,” Core remarked. “I can’t guarantee they’ll give you what you’re looking for, but a deal’s a deal. Let’s head off.”
You and Core went somewhere else.
---
And that’s all she wrote! If you read this far, thank you. Working on the game since then has been fun, and I think you’ll like what we have in store. Until then, ciao.

Excuse Me? (Kai Parker x Reader)
This was requested by an anon. I hope this is what you had in mind, enjoy!
Tumblr media
(Y/n) was always a fan of the magical things, since she was a kid she loved watching cartoons about witches and fairies and all types of magical creatures, you can imagine her excitement when Harry Potter became such a big thing, she always secretly hoped things like that existed, oh how many hours she had spend imagining how it would feel like to walk around Hogwarts but instead she walked around her boring school halls and then had to figure out what she wanted to do for college.
However, she started finding out about spirituality, crystals, tarot readings, energy exchanges, chakra alignment and she was intrigued to say the least. Her journey did not stop there though, she went to mystic falls to visit her cousin who lived there, you can imagine bonnies surprise when she felt the piercing but yet gloryfying energy coming from (y/n), she had to befriend her.
What Bonnie did not calculate was Kai taking an interest in the little lady, for completely different reasons than Bonnie but still he managed to wine and dine his way into her bed, oh and how lucky he felt. He knew she was spiritual and maybe meditations do something more than relaxing the mind, cause being in her bed was addicting, the way her body moved, her facial expressions, how she wrapped around him, sometimes he even thought she was a supernatural being since she never really got tired.
“Good morning (y/n)”
“Why are you still here?”
(Y/n) loved the time she spent with Kai, he was an excellent lover, however she never wanted anything more, something about him just made her want to keep her guard up, at first she thought it was just first dates jitters but they never went away. She had told him their thing was strictly physical and he had agreed, but he kept “sleeping in” and “forgetting to set an alarm” more and more.
“I slept in”
“Kai, we’ve talked about this”
“yes and I still don’t get it, i’m good looking, I have my own house and car and the sex is... why don’t you let your guard down?”
“Cause I don’t want to”
“Is that why you have me on your phone as D-boy? and don’t say I looked through your phone cause I just called it, when have I ever hurt you?”
“You haven’t cause my guard is always up, get out Bonnie is on her way”
(y/n) had told him that she was a bisexual before, but she kept persisting that her and Bonnie are just friends and that she could not know about their relations. Was Bonnie the reason (y/n) would not give in to Kai?
But as (y/n) tried to push him out of the door Bonnie was already locking her car and approaching her house. As (y/n) opened the door to kick a whining Kai out, Bonnie was reaching for the doorbell. Kai fell right into Bonnie’s arms
“Kai?”
“Hello Bonnie, weird seeing you here”
“I was about to say the same thing about you”
(Y/n) didn’t want Bonnie to find out cause she admired Bonnie’s independence and how she didn’t need a man in her life nor she seemed to be interested in sex. She didn’t want Bonnie to know that (y/n) sometimes needed that physical pleasure and gave in to a man that could not really give her any emotional stability.
“(y/n) care to explain?”
“Yeah, munchkin how long would you think you could have us both?”
“Excuse me?”
Bonnie turned her attention to Kai. (y/n) just stood there dumbfounded, she didn’t even hear Kai’s weird comment about “having them both”, she didn’t really care about any comment he had to make, all she wanted was to save her reputation to Bonnie.
“I-ummm- well”
“Listen Bonnie, me and (y/n) have been seeing each other for a while now and every time I get kicked out is for you. What do you have that I don’t?”
“I can think of a lot of things but let’s not go there”
“Kai shut up for a second, me and Bonnie are not together like that”
“Then why didn’t you want her to find out? it’s the only reason you wouldn’t want me”
“The only reason? really?”
“Kai Bonnie is my teacher”
“About what”
“Just come in, please”
Bonnie and Kai entered the house together. Bonnie was still trying to hide her laugh, she knew (y/n) was seeing someone, she had caught her looking a bit disheveled and wearing her clothes inside out one too many times, she was happy (y/n) had a little thing in her love life, it seemed to also do some good since (y/n) was energetic and happy after. She did not however, expect Kai to be the one keeping her bed warm, it made her worry about the baby witches well being, she knew how dangerous Kai can be, I mean the dude is a sociopath what more could someone need to be worried?
“Ok I played along to this love triangle thing but I am not doing this anymore, (y/n) we could be so good together”
“Kai I am a baby witch”
It took Kai 6 words to shut him up, (Y/n) was also a witch? it could not be he would know about her bloodline. Then he remembered, she wasn’t from the U.S her bloodline was not associated with him, it was a whole different side he did not know about.
“Bonnie is teaching me the ropes, I didn’t want you to know cause you would think i’m crazy”
“Wait... you haven’t told her?”
“Tell me what?”
“Kai is a pretty powerful warlock”
“what?”
Now it was her turn to shut up. All this time she was trying to hide this it was for nothing, he could be in on it and have two teachers but he also chose to withhold that information from her. (Y/n) crossed her arms in front of her chest, to hide her nipples from showing through the shirt but also to show her defense.
“You are a warlock?”
“You are a witch?”
“I told you I was into spirituality”
“Shuffling cards is different than actually learning spells”
“Ok kiddos you can have this argument later”
Bonnie interrupted them. (Y/n) snapped out of it and realized that she was pretty much wasting time from her lessons on Kai who was acting like a little child that didn’t get his candy.
“Right, Kai it’s time for you to leave”
“But-”
“No but’s, come on let’s get you out of my house”
She then proceeded in pushing Kai once again out of her door and when she finally got him out her doorstep just enough to close the door without hurting him.
“Call me,munchkin”
She opened the door once again just enough for him to see her face
“I will, now go”
and then closed it again. Bonnie could finally laugh freely at an embarrassed (y/n) who was forming a nice shade of pink around her cheeks. When she agreed into helping the new girl she never in a million years thought this scene would ever happen in real life.
“Stop, I have needs”
“I’m sure you do, just be very cautious with him he can be a tad bit”
“Like a sociopath?”
“Exactly, but I have to admit he seems to care about you more than anything that I have seen before”
“Oh please, he’ll get over it as soon as something else makes him feel more powerful”
“Now go fix your shirt, I can see the tag”

Ok! So tanaka, kageyama, tusukishima, and asahi are all pretty scary boys at first glance. So I was wondering how they would react to a new 2nd year manager not being fazed by them at all (maybe she has alot of older brothers or something) and calling them cute. Love you writing. I didn't see a character limit so if this is to many feel free to cut some 😘😘
Thank you!!!! I loved this one it was so fun to write so please request again :) Hope you enjoy it 🧝🏾‍♀️😘

“Scary” Karasuno Volleyball Boys Meet Their Maker!
Tsukishima | Asahi | Kageyama | Tanaka x Reader
———————————
You and Kiyoko used to be friends in elementary school because her mom and both of your dads were in the military so you’d often be the only two young kids at events and ceremonies
She would only come sometimes but you would be an active member of your dads military boot camp year after year, and seeing Kiyoko, another girl sometimes was always awesome
The two of you became pretty good acquaintances and one summer at boot camp she would occasionally show you the ropes when you said you were interested in joining the 200m hurdle
While you two weren’t close, you followed eachother on all social media platforms and would sweetly comment “😍😍😍” on eachother’s posts
When she got injured you made sure to send her a text of endearment and she thanked you
Y’all were those type of friends
So that’s why you weren’t too surprised when you received a text from her while painting your nails one night in your room
Kiyoko had kindly asked you if you could take over her duties as Karasuno’s volleyball manager while she left to Greece with her family tomorrow for a wedding
She would be gone for 2 weeks and apparently the girl she had gotten too replace her just backed out completely at the last minute
You thought about it, realizing you had nothing to do other than train your team of female spartan racers, before replying ‘sure! 🤷🏾‍♀️’ and asked her what you needed to do
Kiyoko prepared you to the best of her ability, sending you a long scrolling text of the job. She said that although she wouldn’t be able to introduce you, the the boys are super kind even though they can get a little rowdy
A little nervous but wanting to help nonetheless, you agreed and confirmed the favour once again
The next day the boys had a practice and you had a little bit of difficulty finding their gym. You had gone to the girls vball team gym first and the captain pointed you in the right direction
When you approached what must be boys’ gym from outdoors you saw a blonde girl about your size scarily jutting around the outside of the gym like she was being stalked for murder
She was clutching a bag tightly
You guessed that maybe this wasn’t the gym, but you could have sworn this is where that team captain told you to go
You held your ground a few feet away because she was obviously terrified and you didn’t want to scare her more than she already was. You could hear her mumbling under her breath things like ‘they’re going to kill me’ ‘I’m too little to die’ ‘so strong, so tall. So very tall.’ ‘Attack on Titan is me. I am attack on Titan. I am MARCO!’
Who is Marco.....? You questioned in your mind.
Your military senses peaked as you changed modes to enemy approaching preparation.
You didn’t know you had these senses, but your dads would be so proud
The petite blonde was twitching and fiddling her hands while her eyes darted around.
She also had been so wrapped up in her terror to notice you there watching her. Seeing a cute mini side ponytail in her short blonde hair reminded you of a toddler’s hairstyle and you immediately felt the need to protect her. Your dads had taught you as much, and your years of self-defence class and borderline military training by copying the guys at your dads camps had built you quite the esteem. You knew immediately that you were going to save her.
“Excuse me?”
“AH!” The girl screamed and jumped 4 feet in the air when you spoke. You held your hands up in surrender, though you remained on guard for her pursuer.
“Hey, hey! I really didn’t mean to scare you. Are you okay? Is something wrong?”
With bugged eyes, the girl explained to you that she had been studying in the gym by herself when she heard a bunch of gang men approach. According to her they were huge, threatening and super scary so she scrambled for cover but when she tried running through the door she had bumped into their leader who had a bunch of piecings, a rockstar dye-job who was smoking a cigarette. Before he could beat her up for crashing into him she picked up her bag and and ran away. Come to find out she had taken his bag by mistake because it was the same colour and size and she didn’t mean to! Now she is being hunted down by the leader’s big scary hunchmen who will literally pummel her when they find her! They’ve been calling after her saying threats like ‘We just want the bag, we promise not to hurt you’ but she’s heard that in scary movies and apparently that’s what they want her to think before they hurt her!!!
Before the girl (who you were able to get her to introduce herself as Yachi from class 1-5) fainted induced by anxiety, you stopped her.
You were pissed. How could big tall men be okay with trying to hurt a sweet first year girl like this?!
The world was evil.
She couldn’t be much smaller than you, but she had no where near your combat expertise.
You held your hand out for Yachi to hand you the bag.
She handed it over with trembling hands
“Where did you last see them?” You demanded just like your dads would have.
Yachi immediately freaked out, claiming that you’re just as small as her and they would crunch you like a potato chip!
Slightly insulted, you managed to give her a sweet smile and ask again.
She pointed in the direction of the outdoor vending machines near the gym.
“I’ll get your bag Yachi don’t worry. Do you want to wait here for me or do you feel safe coming with? It would be great if you were able to actually point them out, because there are a lot of boys here by the school not to mention I can better protect you when you’re close by.”
Yachi gave you a look as if she was seeing the stars for the first time. She was in complete awe of you because you emitted a mass amount of strength.
The energy around you was comparable to that of a decorated military Five Star General who had just been challenged to a game of laser tag.
Seeing Yachi visibly gulp, she agreed to come with you because chances are she’d be able to call for help louder than you and she held onto your arm as you walked.
She hid behind your shoulder, afraid
Looking around, you spotted a group of 4 large guys in the distance by the vending machine— just like Yachi pointed out
Without your glasses on, you couldn’t make them out very well from this distance
Yachi almost squeezed a bruise into your arm which confirmed that was indeed the guys that were awaiting her decease, she said
There was a tall one with dark hair that had a permanent scowl on is face who was staring at the vending machines options like a psycho. The smallest one (who was still very tall) looked tough—must be the braun because he had quite the biceps and his hair was shaven like the boys in your dad’s training camps. One of them looked like a grown man with a man bun that really should be signing off on big stock deals or something. The giant one was blonde with glasses but he appeared to be the verbal slicer—since you could see his mouth mumble something to the military looking one, who flinched like he had been physically stabbed through the chest.
You had to admit, you could see why Yachi was scared of them...a little
Straightening your shoulders so to seem a little bit taller, you took a deep breath and stalked towards these bullies
You were ready to give them a piece and a half of your mind
You would rip them a new one like they deserved
And if it got physical, you were more than equipped to handle them due to your years of training
As you approached, the boys noticed the bag you held and their eyes lit up like they’d just been saved
They started toward you making Yachi gasp.
You cracked your knuckles in preparation
But... when you got closer to them enough to make out their faces, something Kiyoko explained to you got thrown to the forefront of your memory..... and then you realized.
Wait a second.....
“There you are, uhh... small person. You took our coaches bag!” Exclaimed the one with defined biceps.
The small blonde girl behind you let out a shriek and tried to book it. You held onto her arm now as she screamed bloody murder, begging the 4 boys not to kill her because she had a single mother at home who needed her. The boys tried to explain their reasoning over her screams which only made things more chaotic! You gave the four boys a look of death to shut up and they did.
You patiently waited for toddler girl to chill.
“Uh Yachi??”
“Y-y-y-ye-ye-yes?”
“You said these were the assailants you were running away from?”
“Mhm. Don’t look them in the eye!” She shut hers tightly.
You smirked, officially letting your guard down. Now you remembered everything Kiyoko sent you in that text, including who-was-who on the team, what they looked like, and what each player specifically needed managerial-wise.
“Is it Tanner? No, Tanaka from my year, Asahi 3rd......and those two—- Tsukishima Kei and Kageyama Tobio, right? They are in your year..... they’re all Karasuno volleyball players.”
Yachi looked dumbfounded.
“Volleyball players...........................of doom?”
You shook your head, cupping Yachi’s shaking hands in yours. You gave this girl who reminded you of a toddler the kindest smile you could muster.
“I’ve never officially met these guys but Kiyoko has told me lots about them. I do see them bickering in the hallways a lot though, and it’s adorable. They are totally and completely harmless.”
“Harmless?” Yachi repeated you as if she’d never heard the word before.
“Well, I wouldn’t say it in such a de-masculine manner......” Tsukishima deadpanned, irritated by the fact that you spoke of them like they had the strength of a group of newborn goldfish.
Tanaka felt the same way. He mumbled “We do harm on the court! And just because you’re a pretty girl doesn’t mean you can say that we aren’t tough—“
Tsukki told him to shut up before he scared the toddler girl again.
Kageyama drank his little milk carton, barely listening to the commotion as Asahi, silent in the back, was about to start bawling. He was just so happy to be called harmless instead of monster by someone so much smaller than him his heart was going to explode 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Luv him
“Yep! Harmless.” You chirped, eyes twinkling at Yachi. You reassured her some more. “Total softies. You have nothing to worry about! Kiyoko told me that once on the bus ride home from a game she played a movie on the bus......and in the end Kiyoko counted all of them crying to the wedding scene in Princess and the Frog.”
“Hey now—“ Tanaka yelled, red in the face from anger but mostly humiliation. You looked over at the boys and noticed they were all pretty red. Tsuki had actually turned away to totally hide his face, starting toward the gym without so much as a goodbye.
“Brat.” He muttered. The boys followed with their tails between their legs.
“See? They couldn’t even deny it.” You smiled at Yachi. She visibly calmed down. “They’re just a bunch of cute little crows😊.”
Tsukki has returned with a scowl that didn’t scare either of you this time. He held out his hand expectantly.
“May we have our coach’s bag back, now? I trust you two can find your way back to Snow White the other 5 dwarves in one piece, correct?”
Ouch. You winced at his short person joke. Wow, Kiyoko was right about Kei’s stinging verbal jabs.
But Psh. You were a black belt. You could handle military men. You could even beat some of them in an arm-wrestle sometimes.
So you definitely weren’t afraid of any volleyball boys, no matter how badly this cute tall one’s jabs stung.
You smiled at Tsuki who didn’t return it in the slightest. You moved to hold out the bag in front of you for him to take, but low enough so he’d have to lean down to retrieve it.
When he went to grab the bag, you expertly maneuvered it out of his grasp before taking his cheek between your fingers in a tight squeeze. So gullible, this one. You had him trapped, just like you would a toddler.
“I’ll bring it to coach Ukai myself cutie patootie.” You gave him a sickeningly sweet smile. He stared at you with surprised eyes before you continued. “After all, we’ll be getting to know each other pretty well as temp-manager and coach. Don’t you think?” The King of Passive Aggression’s eyes widened in shock behind his adorable glasses. You released his cheek from your grasp.
“Now get in the gym, soldier. You can introduce me to the rest of the team’s cuties and tell them that Karasuno’s new babysitter is here!”

Part 14: It’s been awhile...
Crash And Burn- Ashton Irwin smau
Summary: You and Ashton were never on the best of terms, maybe since you guys were so similar: sarcastic, stubborn, protective and had a true love of art. After a misunderstanding and $200 on the line, you find yourself (fake) dating the campus’ most adored (and drooled after) art student... with friendships at risk and feelings emerging it was only a matter of time until the inevitable crash and burn
A/n: Wow I actually managed to post on Monday!! (A week after I promised but hey I tried I’m sorry tho) Hope you guys enjoy this written part! Hope it starts clarifying things and brings you a bit that drama!! If you have any questions lmk I know I think things are clear and sometimes it’s like uh no Lydia no one knows wtf you’re talking about lolol. Anyway enjoy!
Those words kept replaying in your head. Over and over again. I told you this would be easy...I told you this would be easy...I told you this would be easy...
No there was no way. He wouldn’t...except he would. It was right there on Luke’s lockscreen. The whole conversation occurring right before your eyes. A bet. That’s all you were. You don’t know when it was made or how for that matter... but after all that questioning and finally believing, no deluding, yourself into thinking maybe, just maybe what you and Ashton had was real. No wonder he was so insistent on starting this whole fake relationship... in fact you wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the real reason he kissed you that night at the party... just to receive his cash payout for managing to get you, the person who despised him the most, to go out with him. And he thought it would be easy...
Despite your anger and frustration you couldn’t stop the tears that ran down your face. You put Luke’s phone back on the table and texted Lisa you had to go because there is no way you could stay here. Luckily you were in a secluded area back of the library, making easy to wipe your eyes as you gathered your things and made your way through the shelves of books. Just as you were nearly at the gathering area of the library where all the booths and madness occurred you heard someone call your name.
“Y/n? Are-are you alright?”
You turned around to see the last possible person you thought you would ever run into again. Sitting there at one of the couches along the shelves was none other than Jae.
“Oh...hey” you said, wiping your eyes and trying to feign a smile. “Jae...it’s um.. it’s been awhile”
“Ya... I guess it has...” he said, standing up and walking over to you. “What happened?”
You looked up to meet his eyes, surprised to find nothing but concern. Despite everything you both had been through he was still such a good guy...
“Nothing... it’s nothing don’t worry” you said trying to reassure him...and yourself
“It doesn’t look like nothing... y/n... come here” he said, grabbing your arm and guiding you to the couch. “I know we aren’t exactly...close... but tell me what’s going on? Please?”
You let yourself be pulled next to him on the couch, strangely finding comfort in his presence. “There’s really not much to tell” you laugh “you know just relationships are hard...”
“Trouble in paradise huh?” Jae sighed. “Should have known... what did he do?”
“It’s...complicated...but it just has me questioning everything... and now I just don’t know what to expect next... and...he’s just...I-... ahh“ you couldn’t stop the resurgence of tears, but this time you truly felt as though you were going to break...saying those words out loud made everything so REAL. Here you were crying about the guy you fell for not once but twice and managed to get your heart broken both times to the guy you once thought you would end up with. You couldn’t help but think things would be so much easier if you ended up with someone else...like the guy currently holding you...rubbing your back and whispering words of assurance as you cried into his chest... probably ruining his hoodie with your makeup and tears. Oh how different things would have been...
After a short while you finally were able to take a breath... no more tears left to fall...
“I’m really sorry about that...” you said, sitting up and wiping your eyes.
“Y/n...it’s ok you looked like you needed someone to talk to and hey you actually needed a shoulder to cry on and just glad I could help” Jae said with a small smile. Although no longer holding you, he still kept his hands against yours.
You looked at him, seeing the care, concern and kindness in his eyes... if not for the misunderstanding you couldn’t help but wonder what if...
Before you could stop the words leaving your mouth you found yourself saying “I really liked you you know”
His eyes widened, then he began to smile. He laughed softly as he looked down, not quite wanting to meet your eyes.
“No Jae I mean it... I REALLY liked you. I just wanted you to know that.. things just got so messed up... and I found myself with someone I never expected...”
“It’s... it’s fine that’s all in the past... I REALLY liked you too” he said giving you a wink. “But that party sent us both in different directions. You ended up with Ashton... I started dating Ashley... I met her that night and we’ve been happy ever since...”
Now it was your turn for your eyes to widen in surprise. You didn’t know he ended up with that Omega girl.
“Oh wow... I-I didn’t know... I’m happy for you Jae”
“Well we aren’t the center of all campus gossip so that’s ok! Can...can I ask you something though? That night, was it really the start of your guys’ relationship? Or were you together when we met?”
“Oh my gosh Jae...no. I promise nothing happened between us until that night. I know there were a lot of stories and pictures going around but that’s not what happened. I wouldn’t do that to you...”
He smiled, seemingly pleased with your answer. You couldn’t help but wonder about the hurt he probably felt because of you... how he was here with you now instead of hating you was incredible.
“I didn’t think so... you didn’t seem like that kind of person...and even though we weren’t even together I just didn’t think you would do that to me...”
You sighed, leaning your head against his shoulder. “How on earth did we end up here Jae?”
“I have no idea... the universe works in strange ways...”
You laughed as you heard someone approach you both. Looking up you were surprised to find none other than Ashton, looking at you with hurt and confusion.
“Ash? What-what are you doing he-“
He grabbed your wrist, pulling you away from Jae and towards the exit of the library. “Let’s go” he said, cold and harsh.
“What-no!” You yelled, pulling free from his grip. “I’m not going anywhere with you!”
“So what you’re just going to stay here with him? You’re still my girlfriend”
“Am I?” You met that in multiple ways. You were his pretend girlfriend. You may have been something close to the real thing, but now? Now things were beginning to end.
He seemed to sense the dual meaning behind your words. Asking you so many questions in those green eyes that met yours.
Sensing the tension between you both, Jae stood up ready to get between you both.
“Y/n-“ Jae started to say before he was cut off.
“Stay out of this” Ashton said, glaring at the other guy.
“No he doesn’t have to do anything you tell him.”
“So what y/n you want to back to him now? You really want to end things between us that way?”
“Wow that’s rich coming from you!”
“What?”
“Oh please like you didn’t do the same thing to me! When we first met I was so in love with you and just when I thought things were serious you ended up with some other girl! What was her name? Chelsea? And just when I start opening my heart to you again... when I let go of that hatred and start to love you again I find those messages... I really just mean nothing to you do I Ashton?”
“What y/n- no I-“ Ashton says. Shocked, surprised, confused...unable to complete a sentence, not that he was able to since you cut him off.
“I don’t want to hear it Ashton. Just leave me alone.”
You walked past him, leaving him there staring dumbfounded. Trying to process your words, so many things finally making sense. That’s why you hated him...because of Chelsea of all people. The news you fell for him as hard as he fell for you, not once but twice. And both times he fucked up. He didn’t even notice when Jae left. To absorbed in his own thoughts and wondering how in the fuck he was going to fix this.

You tasted salt again. Felt it burning in your eyes and deep in your sinuses. You wished your scream when the wave hit sounded less embarrassing, but you figured it didn’t matter. It wasn’t like you were the only one. Though he looked relieved when he saw the great big shadow of a wave looming above the both of you.
And he was, but that feeling lasted about as quickly as it came.
The wave knocked you back like a steel wall, and then dragged you forward harshly against the rough sand. Not into the ocean, thankfully. It dragged you far enough for your skin to feel raw. But that had nothing to do with why his relief was so short lived.
He thought the water would bring his tail back.
He was wrong.
So what does a Moonchild do when faced with extra limbs, too many joints, and not enough coordination? Turns out they scream. A lot. You would think something that lived primarily underwater wouldn’t have a set of lungs like that, but you were wrong. Baby’s and sirens should have told you that. But the longer he went the more you wondered if he needed air to breath at all.
“COULD YOU CALM DOWN ALREADY!?”
“CALM DOWN!!?? YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN!?? WHY DO I HAVE LEGS!!?? WHAT ARE THOSE!!?? WHAT IS THIS!?? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CALM DOWN!?? I’M UGLY!!!”
“Over dramatic much? jeez..”
“WHAT!??”
You began to try and pick yourself up out of the sand, wanting to avoid near drowning for what would become the third time that day.
“You screaming. It’s dramatic.”
“How am I supposed to react!!?? -Wait, how did you do that!!?” You turned back to flash him a quizzical expression; forgetting for a moment that he had probably never seen someone “walk” before.
You had only walked a couple of feet up the shore away from him, but for him that was way too far for comfort. Like you ditched him on a bike with no training wheels, except the pavement was slippery sand -if sand was outer space. He flipped himself onto his stomach and did what he could to drag himself after you. He learned fast though, switching to a military-esc crawl when he realized you can only pull yourself so far in a substance with little to no leverage.
You watched him, still in disbelief that this whole situation was actually happening.
Soon he made it to the end of his difficult journey, grabbing at your ankles with his dried out hands and huffing out in exasperation.
“How did you travel like that!?” You snorted at his phrasing.
“I walked.” He tilted himself in the sand to glare up at you, his sharp eyes still too shiny and vibrant to be intimidated by. Especially in his position, with his half wet and half dried clumps of hair invading his face from all sides. You chuckled, squatting down so he wouldn’t have to strain so hard with his feeble glaring. You startled him again with your speed, but he only jolted a little and kept his grip around your ankles.
“I’ll show you how.” His eyes got real big at that.
“To.. wal-k? -I can’t do that.”
You had to smile half heatedly at his defeated expression and that sorry look in his eyes. “I just want to swim..” He continued, a sad note in his voice.
“Well we can figure out your missing tail situation later, for now let me just get you walking so you don’t cook and die out here.” You realized how poor your choice of words were when he started scrambling around in fear. “THAT CAN HAPPEN!!?? WHY DO YOU LIVE UP HERE!!??”
“Uhh forget I said that, I was exaggerating.. Mostly. Flip over for me, ok?”
He stammered, but did as he was told. He flopped back on his back, looking up at you sternly. You were able to ignore how naked he was right up until then, you shifted your gaze to the skys trying to talk yourself back into ignoring it until you could get him off the beach and clothed. That wasn’t really a conversation you were willing to have right now, it was barely morning and the day already felt too long. You only hoped he wouldn’t ask you anything specific.. That didn’t have to do with his legs.
You walked around his form, sitting yourself back in the sand beside his knees. You grabbed his hand that laid beside him, and he gripped yours tightly.
“I’m gonna help you sit first -give me your other hand too." He strained to look at you from on his back while reaching out to you with his other hand. You held them both now, each of your hands holding one of his reassuringly. You pulled on his arms, not too hard or too fast, just enough to raise his torso slowly off the sand. His balance wavered and tilted once he was upright, but instead of falling back he spread his legs and landed with his palms in the sand between them. He looked stunned, and you stayed at bay waiting for his next reaction. He smiled, a touch of confidence reaching his full lips.
"Did I do it?" You tried your best not to laugh at him too much at the excitement in his voice.
"Yeah, you've got step one down -now bend your knees."
"My what?"
“Your… leg elbows." He frowned as he looked down at his new appendages, trying to pin point what it was you were talking about. He made an audible "ah!" When he figured it out.
You held your hands out again as a balancing option but he was doing just fine staying upright on his own now. He bent one leg up, looking shocked that only one of them moved when he coaxed it. He tucked his leg in close to his chest with his foot planted in the sand before he fought to do the same with the other leg.
"Like this?" You nodded as you stood back up and stepped directly in front of him. He gently placed a foot on each of his in preparation as he watched you curiously.
"So these-" you tapped your feet over his to make a point. "Are your feet, to stand you have to balance all your weight on them. The sand’s gonna be moving under them so this isn’t gonna be ideal, but this is what we're working with." You bent down and urged him to give you his hands again, and he did.
"You ready?" He yelped a yes in reply and you took the que. You pulled on his hands, feeling him tensing the muscles in his legs to catch his own weight.
"Push on your feet." He nodded, tensing his legs more and helping you raise him up fully. He shot up quickly once he figured out the trick to it, startling you this time. He stood taller than you, which was concerning when he started to tip over.
"PUT YOUR ARMS OUT FOR BALANCE!" You shrieked, moving your feet off of his and throwing your hands up to catch his shoulders if it came to that. Suddenly his head was suspended a foot under yours.
He had bent his knees. He was still wavering in the wind a little bit, but he was standing; mostly, all on his own.
"Hey!! You've got step two down...kinda. Can you straighten up?" He glanced up at you, his eyebrows knitted in concentration but you could see that he was gonna try his best at whatever you asked him to do. He started to straighten his legs out, his arms still far from his sides. He raised up slowly watching your eyes the whole way until he was stood above you again. Something behind you caught his eye and he reeled, ducking back down and hiding his face in your shoulder as he gripped onto you for balance.
"The sun.."
You gripped his arms as you looked down at him questioningly.
"Yeah..? It's sunrise now." You glanced back behind you being sure not to budge him and looked back at all the reds and pinks of the morning sky, the sun peeking up over the water. You were thankful for it, that little bit of sunlight was the only thing keeping you warm in your drenched clothing.
"I'm not supposed to be on the surface when the sun is rising -I'm not supposed to be up here at all -but especially not when she's chasing the moon away."
You were dumbfounded.
"Um.. well. You might have to make an acception today-"
"Are you not scared of her?"
You realized that this must have been some deep rooted merpeople thing, maybe the reason no one had ever seen one before. But he was on the sand now with the sun peaking over the horizon, and he was doing just fine. Whatever impending doom he was sacred of couldn’t have been real.. Or true -you hoped.
"Uhh.. no?" You questioned, seeing if he would say more but all he did was keep his head tucked into your shoulder. You patted his arms timidly, trying to conjure him some comfort.
“Hey.. Whats your name anyway?” He peaked up at you, his eyes swirling and glimmering in the rising light.
“Its Namjoon, and you?” He said in a rush.
“Y/n.. Listen -its ok if you’re scared of the sun, but its only gonna get higher in the sky the longer we stand here.” That didn’t help, and you knew that as soon as the words left your mouth and you saw him start to tremble.
“..Namjoon, really.. It’s not gonna hurt you. Just focus on the ocean, isn’t it beautiful like this?”
That time did something. He started to peak his head up again, his earrings dangling as he moved on wobbly legs. He rose up, still jumpy, but determined. He held onto you the whole way up with his eyes so full of wonder as he calmed himself enough to look at the scenery behind you. You turned your head to see what he was seeing. The stark red glow of the sun as it broke through the horizon, still just a crescent on the surface but its light reflected off the waves and made the clouds glow in pinks and oranges. He stood like that a while; bravely, long enough for you to turn back to him and see the ocean in his eyes.
“See?” He only nodded.
“But don’t stare too long, I’m not sure what it’ll do to your big fish eyes.” “-Hey!” He looked at you again, wobbling from how quick he turned to you with an offended look on his face. “..I’m not a fish.” He pouted as he spoke and you couldn’t help giggling at his expense.
“Yeah, yeah. Lets get you walking fish boy.” Despite his pout he still nodded and looked back down at his new feet. You stepped back from him with your hands still out to catch him if he fell.
“Ok -step three. You’ll need to lift up one foot at a time and put them down in front of each other one behind the other -like this.” You stopped to demonstrate under his incredulous glare. He huffed and lifted his first foot, he tipped over but lept that foot forward in the sand to catch himself in time. He flung his hands out in the air again for balance too, just like you taught him.
“Heyy! That’s one step, now do the other one.” He glared up at you again and you grinned. You never thought you would be teaching a grown man to walk, but there was something endearing about it all. He tried stepping with the other foot and balanced it better this time as he placed it in the sand just in front of his first one. He tried it a few more times, turning a corner and just trying to get a hang of it. He stood a little straighter the longer he kept trying.
You let him walk on his own until he was walking circles around you. Somewhere along the line he figured out how to hop and land on his toes, he was very fond of that. You were happy he was having such a good time after he had just been screaming his lungs out. But unfortunately there was another thing you needed to point out to him, preferable before other onlookers started to show up.
“Hey Namjoon!?” You shouted to him, waving your arms to coax him over from the direction his skipped off to. Somehow he figured out how to do little spinning jumps when you weren’t watching. He landed on his tip toes but it didn’t look like he was expecting the wave of dizziness that hit him once he stopped spinning. You watched him giggle and tip sideways to one knee mid wave.
“Y/n!! Everything is spinning!! The surface is fun!!” You chuckled at him as you made it over to where he was. You watched him flop himself on his back and dance his fingers up towards the sky.  Now that the sun was up you could see the delicate pastels in his hair more clearly. Strands of lilac and mint and powdered blues evenly blended amongst soft silvers and cool whites.
“Not to burst your bubble, but there’s something you should know.” His ears perked up as he fought to focus on your figure looming above him.
“You’re naked.” He frowned up at you, flopping his hand in your direction
“And you’re not.” You sighed. This really wasn’t something you were up for explaining more in depth.
“Uh.. we don’t really do that up here.. Be naked! That is..In public.” He tilted his head in the sand as he continued to frown.
“Why?” You thought about it for a second. Of course you knew why. It was awkward, it was distracting. It wasn’t a common occurrence to see some adult man zipping around showing full frontal. Not to mention it wasn’t exactly kid friendly. But you weren’t sure how to explain all that to him, or where to start. You banked on a shorter answer.
“I don’t know, its inappropriate?”
“Why?” He said again, unsatisfied. You pinched your brow as you thought again.
“It’s distracting?”
“Are you distracted?” He didn’t miss a beat when he questioned you back. And you really didn’t want to answer that. So you didn’t.
“... Anyway. I found this abandoned towel..  You should wrap it around your waist so we can go into town without you mooning anybody.”
“Mooning?” He sat up as he questioned you, wresting his elbows on his fresh new knees. You already felt too mentally drained from his previous questions, you didn’t even think about touching that one.
“You’ll have to figure that one out on your own.” You tossed the towel into his lap as he rose a brow at you, but he ultimately obliged once he got himself upright again.
~~
You hadn’t given much thought to your own situation until you were walking back into the town you thought you finally got away from. It turned out jumping ship wasn’t the most productive strategy for getting away. And you still weren’t sure what happened in between you watching the lights of your home town get farther and farther away --and the burn of salt water filling your lungs. Regardless, you were thankful Namjoon saved you. Even if among all the chaos he brought with him you hadn’t found the time to thank him yet. You would make sure to. Your personality may be flippant most of the time, but you really were thankful. This guy just left his whole world to save your life without even thinking, and because of that there was a small chance he couldn’t ever get back.
You felt for him and would do everything you could to help him find his tail, but your first form of thank you would be to show him around your small town on the surface. Surfing the web for merman lore to help send him home could come later. For now, a good distraction from his current predicament was in order. And distractions were just about everything for him.
He was first fascinated when you made your way off the beach and he came in contact with the side walk for the first time. And fencing..and how sharp gravel is. And the way his mouth dropped when he finally looked up and saw his first building was a sight to see. You wished the milestone would be something better than a public restroom, but he was happy enough. He really wanted to go inside, but you promised him you would take him somewhere better.. Somewhere cleaner.
When he spotted his first tree was the same time he learned how to run. He ran right up to this great big palm tree and flung his arms around it, resting his ear against its trunk.
“This is alive!!” He exclaimed, and all you could do was giggle as you watched him look up and sway in tandem with the fluttering of its leaves. "Its old.. it must have watched the moon and the sun chase each other so many times.. What do I call you?"
"That's a palm tree" He grinned. "A palm tree, amazing. I hope you don't mind if I rest my palms on you."
"It's just a plant, they don't have feelings." Something in the air moved when you said that, something other than Namjoon's jaw dropping to the sand.. "Are all humans this rude.” You knew it was the tree he was asking, so you merely rolled your eyes and kept walking down the sunny side walk with a grin.
Finding him clothes didn’t take much time at all, street vendors were practically throwing themselves at him when they were barely set up for the morning. He was eye catching, so you weren’t surprised. With his long and delicate silver hair, and his eyes you couldn’t always place a color on. Not to mention how decorated he was in perfect pearls and pearlized sea shells, all wrapped in what you guessed was a seaweed equivalent to twine. Not only was be beautiful, but he looked expensive. And his big curious puppy dog eyes made him look a touch gullible. You couldn’t blame anyone for wanting to sell him their goods until his pockets ran dry. Little did they know it was your pockets, it would be a while before they were dry, and the majority of your funds were still on the ship headed in the opposite direction.
You were looking around at the third booth in a row that Namjoon was ushered into. The sales women had barely spared you a glance, something you didn’t mind at all. You looked around at the little shark tooth necklaces and snickered at the large assortment of mood rings. You checked the price on a few of them, four dollars a piece. You didn’t have much, but you would keep them in mind. They were definitely something you though Namjoon would appreciate.
The sales woman was a lot older; very friendly, and didn’t have much care for personal space. But Namjoon didn’t seem to mind, even when the woman was forking through his hair without asking. Though you might not be able to know if he did have a problem, he could barely get a word in.
“Ohhh! Sweetheart! You’ll love this!” You heard the older woman exclaim, and it wasn’t the first time.
“I do!-”
“Great! I can wrap it for you! It’ll be $10! oHH, wait right there sweety I know something else you’ll just die for!”
You snickered at the whole encounter, still wondering and touching things lightly. Part of you was evilly waiting to see what would happen when the woman found out he was broke. But --she did have shorts in her shop, and that was something he genuinely needed. You made your way around until you were met eye to eye with Namjoon again. You raised your brows at him in a silent question of “Are you ok?”  He nodded and blinked, averting his eyes to see where the woman had gone looking. He leaned into you to whisper in your ear shortly after.
“What is a dollar?” You grinned at the innocent question.
“Its money. What do you all use for money down there anyway?” You whispered back. Not that some random old woman would know you were conversing with a merman about merman currency, but you felt weird speaking any louder.
“Oh, we barter. I think some other cultures of moonchildren use money though.”
“So there’s more of you than just where you’re from?” You asked genuinely curious, and he frowned at you like you had just asked the dumbest question in the world.
“Of course?”
“Hey, I didn’t know any existed two hours ago. And you didn’t know about humans, so don’t even.”
He paused.
“..That’s fair.”
Just then the old women popped back up with what she had been rummaging for.
“This here!” She held out an elaborate necklace in her hands. Most of it was made up of several cords with tiny pearlescent blue beads, both sides coming around to the center to hold a good sized oyster shell with moon phases carved into it. It was beautiful; and she was right, he loved it. He gasped when he saw it, holding out his palms for the women to place it in.
“Oh! This is so beautiful! The carving here is so precise, this can’t have been done with a shell pick..” He spun the necklace around in his hands, feeling all the beads and even holding it up to see the moon phases against the sunlight.
“But I don’t have any dollars..” The woman’s demeanor changed, just as you knew it would. She reached up for his hands with her short stature, securing the necklace away from him.
“No money, no sale.”
“How much is it?” You spoke watching the sad swirl in Namjoon’s eyes. The women almost looked shocked at you, as if she truly didn’t see you until you spoke to her.
“$60.”
“$60? You’re kidding. Those beads are coated plastic, I can tell from here.”
The old women scoffed.
“$40, take it or leave it.” You were about to say something when Namjoon intervened.
“What if we trade? I’ll give you a good pearl for it.” You cringed out of your skin when he said that. You knew how much pearls could be worth, and all of the pearls on his body looked worth well more that a $40 necklace. They could go for thousands.
‘Wait!-” You Grabbed at Namjoons wrists before he could do anything foolish.
“Its ok y/n, I won’t miss it.” He untied what looked like a tiny pouch at his forearm. It was so heavily decorated you wouldn’t have ever known it had a function. You peaked over his shoulder to look inside, and your eyes went wide as you saw at least sixty or so perfect pearls.
‘Wait, wait!” You held your hand out again between them both.
“If you’re going to trade, a good pearl for that necklace, and pair of shorts and shoes for him. How does that sound?” You looked between them both as they both nodded. “And a mood ring” You added. “The nicest one you’ve got.”
“Yes, sure sure. But the pearl better be real.” Namjoon pulled out a little one. It was perfectly round, and the way it shinned almost made it look like it was glowing. The women's eyes went wide as he brought it closer to her, popping it right in her hands. She looked it over with a big grin on her face, and you wanted to scream about what a waste that was. But if Namjoon was happy, that’s what mattered. “The shorts?” You questioned to snap her out of her trance. “Oh yes! Ohh, and I have the perfect ones for you! Hold on just a minute!” The old women jumped up with glee, making her way over to the other side of her little booth. “Come ‘round this way dear! You’ll need to try these on!” Namjoon looked at you unsure, and you simply nodded and gestured for him to go where the women asked. She pulled out a pair of blue and purple tie dye shorts with a large lizard embroidered by the bottom left hem. He smiled as soon as she pulled them out, and you wondered if somehow within the past 15 minutes if she had really cracked the code to understanding his exact tastes, or if he would have smiled like that at anything.
“You’ll love these!”
“I do!-”
“Go on, into the dressing room you go!” Your heart clenched a bit as she squished him into the tiny two foot dressing room. It was all made up of black curtains, and something you yourself would be horrified to get undressed in in such an open area. But seeing as how Namjoon was already naked.. It should be fine?..
He had never even seen shorts before until today, and putting them on might be more confusing for him than you would imagine. As the seconds went by you started to worry.
What if he tore them, or what if while trying to balance he fell right through the curtain and took the whole booth with him. What if he didn’t understand where his legs should go, or if he put them on backwards? As your heart was beginning to race Namjoon made his way out of the dressing room, his new perfectly fitted shorts worn correctly.
“Oh they’re perfect on you! See look in the mirror! How are they? Do you love them!?”
“I do!-”
“Good good! Oh you deserve this too!” She pulled out a little white linen vest almost out of thin air and started to help him place his arms through its holes as Namjoon watched himself in the mirror.
“Oh! its perfect! This one is on the house! You look like a handsome little merman!” You smirked at the accuracy the old woman was unaware of.
“Oh! Thank you!-”
“Beautiful, beautiful! You and your girlfriend have to come back and visit sometime!”
“Uh, we’re not-” You started, but no one heard you -and the suggestion seemed to go right over Namjoon’s head.
“Thank you ma’am! I feel brand new!”
Namjoon bowed his head a little as he held the old woman's hands in thanks.
It didn’t take the women long to wrap up his new necklace in a cute little gift bag, or to let him pick some matching flip flops and a mood ring that peaked his interest. You made sure to grab one of the cards that tell you what all the colors mean, you were sure that could be fun to bring up later. And to maybe see if his ever changing eye color matched up.
Namjoon was strange and other worldly to have around, but despite his circumstances you were excited to watch him see your world for the first time. Maybe he would help you see things in a new light too, maybe moonlight for a change.

"Oh my goodness, I am so, so sorry!"
Mortified, Eva looked at the man she just bumped into, and unfortunately spilled hot coffee all over. He looked to be about her age, brown hair, blue eyes, with now slightly crooked glasses over them.
"Hey, it's ok, it's no problem," he said, dabbing at the coffee with a napkin.
Furiously blushing, Eva said, "I truely am so sorry. Let me buy you another one, since yours is all over your shirt."
Glancing at his watch, the guy said, "You know what, I actually have to go, but I'll let you buy me a new one some other time. How about tomorrow, same time, same place?" With that, he swept out the door, leaving a stunned Eva staring after him.
Belatedly, she yelled after him, "Wait! Did you just ask me out?" But it was too late, he was already gone.
Eva glanced at her watch and cursed. No time for a new coffee. She was already late for work.
-----
"Leah, I am so, so sorry I'm late, I was at the coffee shop and I ran into this guy, like literally ran into him and-"
"Eva. Chill. It's no big deal, you were what, six and a half minutes late? It's fine."
Still out of breath from running, Eva brushed a stray hair out of her face. "What do we have today?" she asked.
Leah checked her watch for notifications. "Looks like Hornet and his gang are doing a death ray again this week. Bright Shadow wants us to go check it out. Ugh, we're with Clyde too. I can't stand that guy."
Eva sighed, "Dammit. Ok, lemme just get changed quick. You gonna bring us?"
"Yep," Leah replied. "Meet me in parking lot when you're done. And tell Clyde that if he pukes again, I'm leaving him with Hornet's henchmen this time."
-----
When Leah teleported the three of them to the top of the sky scraper where the death ray was located, three villains were already waiting for them: Ember, the flame thrower, Silver Streak, the speedster, and someone she had never fought before. The unknown villain had a green mask covering his face, and what looked like cargo pants with dozens of pockets.
Ember looked at the group of heroes. "Well, well, well, what do we have here. Come to stop our evil plan I suppose?"
Leah, or as she was known at work, Slip Space, replied, "You will never succeed in your plan, Iz- I mean, Ember, heroes always win."
Ember narrowed her eyes. "I guess we'll have to see about that." Without warning, Ember launched a fireball at Slip Space, who then disappeared and reappeared behind Ember.
The other villains took that as a signal, and attacked, with Silver Streak going after Clyde, leaving Eva facing off with the new guy.
The guy in green opened up one of the many pockets in his cargo pants, and took out a handful of some powdery things that he threw at Eva.
She sneezed. "What is that, pollen? That's not gonna do shi-"
Before Eva could get another word out, the powder expanded into thick vines that wrapped around her entire body.
The guy in green laughed. "That's what you get for picking a fight with Chokeweed."
Eva grinned. "Well, you shouldn't have picked a fight with Electra!"
She flexed her hands, and a bolt of white lightning fried the vines holding her, and blasted Chokeweed backwards, knocking him unconscious.
Eva looked over to her co-workers, to find that they had similarly beat their opponents. Leah was tying up Ember and Silver Streak, and was talking to them, probably reprimanding them about how evil always loses, and that being bad guys is well, bad.
Eva shot a bolt of lightning at the death ray, destroying it, and then Leah took them all back to headquarters.
-----
The next day, Eva got to the coffee shop at the same time as yesterday. She scanned around the building quickly, but didn't see the man from yesterday. Disappointed, she walked up to the counter to order.
"Don't bother," said a voice from behind her. "I already got you one."
Spinning around, she saw the same guy from yesterday, holding two drinks.
"Hey! I was supposed to buy those!"
The guy laughed. "Oops, I forgot. Next time you can buy. My name is Ethan, by the way."
Eva laughed. "Bold of you to assume that there will be a next time. My name is Eva."
-----
A week later, Eva was once again late to work after losing track of time while on a walk with Ethan. Breathless, she attached herself to Leah, who was just about to leave with Jack on their way to stop Red Hornet's villains from robbing a bank.
"Nice of you to show up," Jack teased her as they made their way up to the bank.
"I'm sorry, but I've been seeing this guy, and I lost track of time."
Jack laughed. "It's all good, bro, I do that all the time with my boyfriend."
The three heroes were met at the bank enterence by Silver Streak, Chokeweed, and the shifter named Menagerie.
Slip Space and Jack Frost faced up against Silver Streak and Menagerie, once again leaving Eva with Chokeweed.
The hero and villain were better matched off this time, and their battle was the longest one. It finally ended with Eva shooting a razer strength bolt at Chokeweed, which blew him backwards and knocked his mask off.
Sauntering over to him, Eva was about to deliver her well rehearsed hero speech, when she stopped, shocked to her core.
"Ethan?" she cried, thunderstruck.
"How do you know- Eva!?"
Eva turned and ran away, leaving her colleagues to deal with the villains.
-----
"Hey, Leah, can I talk you you?"
Leah looked up from her sandwich. "Go for it," she said, taking a bite.
"So, there's this guy I've been kinda seeing, and I really like him, but-"
Intrigued, Leah said, "Go on."
"But, he, he works for Red Hornet. We've fought him before. He's a villain."
Leah blinked at Eva. "So?"
"So? What do you mean 'so'. He's a villain. We're heroes. We are on opposite sides. Good versus evil. I can't go out with him!"
Leah started to giggle. "Eva. That doesn't matter. All that hero, villain stuff, that's just work, babe. None of that lasts outside of work hours. Heck, even within work hours."
Dumbfounded, Eva replied, "What?"
Still laughing, Leah said, "Dude. Izzy, Ember, carpools with Jack every time they go to the same event. Jack is dating Menagerie, who is actually named Thomas. Ember is Jessie's twin sister and my best friend. Me, Jessie and Jack hang out with Izzy, Thomas, and Adam, Silver Streak, all the time. So don't go all Romeo and Juliet on us over literally nothing. Look, I know Izzy was mentioning a new guy over there, who didn't have many friends at work. I'll get her to invite him to games night, and you two can be on a team. So just pop a chill pill, and we'll see you at my place on Wednesday."
Leah walked away, and Eva went home to call Ethan, and re-evaluate her entire life.

A sense of familiarity
Hello 😊I decided to try my luck with writing a fic for Speaker. I had a lot of fun with it and I hope you will enjoy reading about my Speaker Nev and Liam lovingly making fun of each other 😄
A sense of familiarity
The day after their victory was a bleak one. Despite it still being a mid – afternoon the gloomy mood extended over the library in the Delaney household. Open curtains and lit wall sconces unable to fully dispel the dim.
In the far end of the room; leaning against the wall, a young woman was sitting comfortably. Just beside her stood a massive cabinet filled with books and old trinkets, which almost impeccably hid her figure.
Completely at odds with the atmosphere around, her expression held a vibrant smile as she sketched vigorously. She was so concentrated on her work that she didn’t notice a figure moving in her direction.
At least she didn’t notice it until a hand landed on her shoulder.
„Eep” Unexpected touch making Guinevere jump in surprise; her hand reaching up to hold on to her throat as she squealed. This frantic movement almost resulted in an ugly bruise at the back of her head, as she just barely avoided hitting the wall.
The newcomer proved to be Liam, after startling her he backed away to lean casually against the cabinet. Thick black - framed glasses doing nothing to hide hints of humour dancing in his dark eyes.
No doubt on account of her not so graceful moment.
„Geez, Li! Shouldn’t you finally grow out of sneaking up on me?” She pouted playfully, before releasing a quick bark of laughter and standing up; corners of his lips turning upwards at her comment.
„Nah, I like to keep you on your toes.” His words tinged with humour as he shrugged. „Seems like it doesn’t work in your case though.” He added sending her a smirk, which oddly only brightened her appearance.
In a retrospect he truly should’ve expected what would happen but a moment later.
With a beaming smile and sparkling eyes firmly focused on her friend Nev stepped closer catching Li in a quick hug. Yet, just before coming out of his zone she didn’t fail to swiftly poke him in the middle. Repeatedly. Her precision being just as deadly as in the past.
Immediately he took another step away from her. She couldn’t help but snigger when noticed how he instinctively hunched bracing himself. Not omitting to send her a truly ugly glare. Unfortunately for him, it was completely wasted on Nev and the woman doubled over as her cheerful giggle swept throughout the room.
Some things never change.
While she tried not to choke on laughter in the corner of her eye she noticed as Liam sighed in exasperation. Despite it, he couldn’t maintain this annoyed appearance for long, and a not-quite-fond-but-similar smile forced itself on his face.
„I would prefer it if we broke that habit of yours. There’s only so many heart attacks I can withstand.” She teased wiping away a stray tear. „And so can you it seems.” The words almost bringing back surge of laughter. „Maybe, for both of our sakes, you should rethink my old offer of braiding bells into your hair.
„I can’t believe you still remember it.” He shook his head.
„I remember everything.” She barely managed to quell these words just before they could slip past her mouth. „It’s the most effective safety measure.” She said instead, spreading her hands; an innocent smile gracing her lips. From his barely concealed grin she knew it was a good choice.
„No way.” He elbowed her playfully, carefully keeping just enough distance to stay out of her reach. She couldn’t quite bring it in herself to feel sorry for his hypersensitivity.
He deserved some tickle scare after scarring her for life with his coffee.
„Bold of you to assume I need your agreement.” She leaned backwards with crossed arms as her face lit up with an impish glee.
„I called your name 2 times before coming over here. I doubt bells would have any effect”. Liam pointed out smirking playfully.
„Well… there is a saying that you might’ve heard before” She rolled her eyes, not even trying to hide a smile. „Third time’s a charm.” Shaking her head in amusement Nev looked around locating her scattered drawing utensils.
Closed sketchbook forgotten for a moment in favour of a pencil that rolled away, almost ending beneath the cabinet. She only hoped it didn’t fracture from the fall. There is nothing as irritating as a pencil lead breaking in the middle of making a clean sketch.
„I knocked, you know. On the cabinet here, right before you” He shrugged, spreading his hands; joking smirk placed firmly at his face.
Soft chuckle escaped her lips before she could stop it. „Come on, there is no way I wouldn’t hear that. Stop exaggerating.” She responded lightly pushing his arm, before placing an empty hand on her hip. „Being more perceptive than me is no achievement, remember?”
„You didn’t even stir.” He deadpanned.
Nev couldn’t help but flick her gaze to the treacherous cabinet, shock evident on her face. Liam for his part didn’t even try to hide chuckle at her dumbfounded expression.
When she stared at him in mock indignation it only reinforced, turning into a genuine laugh. The sound, equally as mirthful as unexpected vibrating in the quiet room. At the unusual sight from her soft spoken friend Nev felt a wave of warmth spreading in her chest.
Familiarity of this banter once again making her realise just how much she missed it. Missed him. Without any frantic research, without race against the time, she could fully appreciate their renewed friendship and easy camaraderie it brought.
„Have you thought that maybe, just maybe, it was you who wasn’t interesting enough to catch my attention” Nev looked up staring straight into his eyes. Teasing smile lighting up her face as she saw mischievous gleam in his eyes.
Although her amusement was short lived as a wicked grin appeared on Liam’s face. All at once it occurred to her just how Li would choose to interpret her words.
Clearly delighting in her atypical shyness, that unfortunately tended to resurface more and more nowadays, he took a step closer and leaned forward.
„Then how do you intend to make this encounter more interesting? Or maybe you would prefer to hear my suggestions?” Voice soft, words almost purred in her ear as his eyes glinted, daring her to respond.
„Oh…Um…” This proved to be way harder than it should, as his sudden proximity made forming cohesive sentences impossible. Her breath hitched, face feeling much warmer than a second ago. As deep green hair brushed her cheek a wave of electricity moved throughout, straightening her spine.
Locked in this newfound intensity she found herself unable to look away from these fathomless eyes.
Spell holding both of them abruptly broke as a pencil slipped from Nev’s grasp landing on the hardwood. The sound, unusually loud in a quiet room woke them from a daze. With her face flaming Nev looked away feeling enormously grateful they still haven’t put the carpets back in place.
„Great, if they weren’t fractured before then now they definitely are.” She mumbled, crouching in a quick motion, hoping to hide her flushed state. A few seconds later Liam joined her on the floor. She desperately avoided looking at her companion, while trying to stall her racing heart.
„I give it 2 out of 10.” His words not quite sinking in, she glanced at him as if it wasn’t a pencil that had fallen, but he did. Straight into his head.
„Your hideout.” He responded to her bewildered stare, gracefully ignoring further implications of her questioning look. „And I am being generous, literally anyone walking in would see you.” Which wasn’t technically true; despite it his lack of comment on her shaken appearance almost made Nev sigh in relief.
This feeling quickly evaporated as she noticed what he was about to pick up.
Instantly it made her forget about any pencils or even her own bashfulness. She rapidly reached out towards the sketchbook grabbing it first. With a tight hold over it she turned towards her companion glowering.
„Still with that angry hedgehog look, huh?” Completely unperturbed he sent her a lazy smirk, nonetheless he still yielded the book without any objections; even coming as far as to raise hands up in a peace offering. Whenever the action meant actual remorse or was done only to indulge her would remain known only to Liam himself.
But she would bet all her money on the latter one.
„Remember our rule?” She bristled.
„No peeking.” He answered easily, rolling his eyes.
„Good.” She said, giving him a friendly pat on the shoulder. „If you didn’t I wouldn’t either”. She proclaimed vaguely, trying to sound intimidating. Consequences unspoken, but clear to the both of them.
Maybe only to the both of them.
„You wouldn’t find it” He scoffed.
„Aha. Got ya, so you are still writing.” She thought triumphantly, her expression must have mirrored it, as Liam recoiled. The sight making her giddy, proving she still could render her friend speechless.
„Try me.” She added challengingly crossing her arms, the knowledge boosting her with newfound confidence.
„Yes, and I am to believe you could find it?” He asked doubtfully.
„I can do everything if I focus on it hard enough.” She shrugged, a sly grin firmly placed on her face. If she was able to find people all around states following vague visions, then she had a fair chance of finding a book in a witch’s house.
For a moment she wondered if he would try grabbing her sketchbook away in a pure obnoxiousness. His thoughts must have followed a similar track, as black eyes flickered towards the book. Instinctively her hold strengthened.
Hush descended upon them as they stared at each other. Several moments passed in silence, before they wordlessy called for a truce.
With a wide grin Nev hopped on the couch, patting the place on the other side as she noticed Liam perching on it’s edge.
Ready to voice a convincing argument she wondered whenever he would sit beside her.
He did.
„So, what’s up? Is everything ok? Or did you just get used to coming over everyday?” She teased with a bright smile. „We still haven’t put out that coffee feeder.” Her smile turned a little bit more playful.
He rolled his eyes so quickly she briefly worried they would get stuck that way. „I thought you said I was welcome to borrow the quiet, but if that’s not-” he started, slowly getting up.
„What?, No! I mean; Yes! I mean-…” She stood up frantically, almost knocking the cushion off the sofa. When Liam’s shit eating grin came into her view she dropped heavily, releasing a sigh; face hidden in her hands. „You are incorrigible” She huffed trying to ignore his wide grin. „Just sit your butt down”
„How can I refuse such a charming request” He smirked, eyes gleaming in amusement.
„You know, I was contemplating showing you some of the finished sketches.” She clicked her tongue. „But I am starting to think you have enough fun as it is.”
„With you things could never be boring, that’s certain.”
„Hello the kettle. Meet the pot.” She jested vividly gesticulating with her hands. „You are just as much trouble as me.”
„Maybe, but I’m not quite as proficient at causing problems. It’s not like my notebook used to be confiscated every other day.” His expression was entirely unrepentant; clearly showing he never opposed this sentiment.
„What can I say. They had it out for me. And you never pulled out yours during class” She grinned waving her hand. „Anyway, don’t even try to pretend you didn’t love every second of getting it back.” Nev added nudging him lightly with her shoulder.
„I never denied that.” Nudging her back, he flashed her a wicked grin. „She almost flipped when we got it before her next lesson.”
Without any need of further clarification she instantly knew who Liam was referring to.
„Poor Mrs. Roberts” She laughed heartily tilting her head back. „Hadn’t she took a week off right after that?”
„To recuperate her health.”
Mrs. Roberts was a substitute teacher that came to their class confident of handling even the worst „hooligans”. The woman could be summed as five feet of pure evil.
Unfortunately for her she hadn’t quite met them before. Although, giving respect where it’s due, she lasted far more than either of them predicted. Resigning only several months prior to the end of school - year.
It should suffice to say that she educated half of their faculty staff before her pension and most of these teachers cheered on their antics.
„You know, I actually drew her not long ago.” She chuckled softly, searching for the correct page in her sketchbook. She might have disliked the woman, but she never had as much fun as the day they got her to resign. The memory widening her smirk.
„What was the occasion?” He looked over the picture of an older woman; Soft facial features doing nothing to quell her severe glare. The sight only widening his impish grin; it was the only confirmation Nev needed to know he was recalling exactly the same memory as her.
„Me and Gwen were cleaning the library and an old photo book flew out.” She pointed towards the furthest bookshelf.
„So that’s why it’s so cluttered in here.” He deadpanned smirking at her.
„Oh, hush you.”
„You got really good.” He said softly. Sarcasm from a moment before replaced with sincerity as he examined the pencil sketch.
„Thanks.” She tucked several strands of hair behind her ear, flushing slightly. „These past years I haven’t had too many opportunities to practice.”
„But hey, look here. This one should feel even more familiar.” She added uncovering the next picture with an affectionate expression.
The drawing in question showed three kids, aged anywhere between 9 or 11 years. A young girl in the middle had her arms wrapped around her friends pulling them towards her for a photo. Her almost identical sister smiled joyously as she leaned into her. The only boy at the scene half-hugged the girl between them, his expression soft, but holding a playful edge.
The sketch emanated warmth; it was clear to see for anyone that the author cared a great deal for the pictured people.
„I think it’s my favourite.” Nev exclaimed, brushing her hand against the paper; the sight made her nostalgic. „I drew it with the help of the original photo.” She added evading looking at her companion.
As seconds passed with no answer she dared a look at Liam, who still gazed on the picture. Softly, warmly, some tender emotion moved throughout his eyes. It disappeared in a flash before she could even try to decipher it.
Sensing her glance upon him, with unusual trouble he tore off his eyes from the picture.
„It looks nice.” He ended somehow stiffly. She waited a second longer, her mouth open as she curiously looked him over. She was almost sure he would say something more. But yet his lips remained closed as he looked at her almost like if not seeing her.
If Guinevere has ever seen a good moment for a subject change then it was definitely one of them. Fortunately on her lap was a book with a fair amount of topic starters.
Without even thinking she uncovered the next page. It held a picture of a young woman sitting on a stump in the middle of a forest. Her eyes closed, a contented smile on her face. A small camera hung around her neck.
„It’s a reminder of one of our forest outings. I haven’t seen Gwen this relaxed in months and my hand slipped” She giggled looking over the sketch of her twin.
„You are dressed similarly” He observed glancing over her outfit, before returning his gaze to the sketch. Internally Nev breathed a sigh of relief sensing her friend returned to his normal self.
„We still have a bunch of identical clothes. It was especially funny in high school, once we pretended to be each other for a month straight. No one recognised us.” She released a soft chuckle.
„Have any more teachers resigned because of you?”
„Now, how can you say it?” She asked assuming model appearance of an offended innocence. „We wouldn’t have left you out from something like that.” Grin on her face almost faeish as she winked at him.
Judging by his smirk, he was just about to respond to her words, before something else caught his attention. „And what about this one” He pointed to the see-through sketch on the next page. It standed out with it’s quality, a little more rough than previous ones.
„That’s Clarkia” All her amusement evaporated in a second. „A pixie me and Gwen saved some time ago.” Her hands moved, rubbing her temple as if trying to stall an upcoming headache.
He shook his head smirking, eyes sparkling with mischief „Why the addictions?” Words leaving his lips laced with humour as he nodded towards the picture.
And „Why the addictions?” indeed. The sketch showed a small humanoid creature dressed in a frivolous outfit and holding his fist upwards in a theatrical pose. Paper around him full of small hearts and flowers. Rainbow and unicorn depicted in the background.
„Ask Gwen. She was the one who drew it.” She closed eyes, still rubbing her forehead. Action itself much more similar to a skull trepanation instead of a massage. She wondered whenever the page would disappear if she dared it hard enough. Unfortunately no such luck was in store for her. „I didn’t have the heart to tear it out.”
Soft hum her only answer as hints of humor still danced in her friend’s eyes.
As Nev was about to turn to another page she heard a subdued buzz. It’s source proved to be insistent spam of messages on Liam’s phone. After glancing at her apologetically he picked it up to check over them.
„It’s Nellie. I should better get going, before she sends somebody my way” He responded to Nev’s questioning look, before getting up with a regret.
„Maybe if we wait long enough she will come here herself, I doubt Gwen would mind” Nev added smirking knowingly, the action prompting Liam to smirk back in a shared amusement on account of their sisters. On the contrary to her words she still sighed regretfully and followed her companion up.
She doubted Nellie would call out Li if she didn’t need him for something important. Lately the woman was oddly determined to keep the two of them together as often as possible
Nev prefered not to think about her possible reasons for that.
„You should come more often. It was fun to spend some time together.” She remarked giving him a crooked grin. „And so you know.” She leaned conspiratorially, half - covering her mouth „I don’t really go around showing my sketches to everyone. You should feel honored.”
„Then I am really lucky.” He smiled, despite it’s teasing edge Nev could clearly see it’s rare, unhidden gentleness. The sight almost taking her breath away.
„Good that you know it.” She clapped her hands cheerfully gesturing forward, as the two of them fell into step together.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
„Hey, Li.” Nev started as they stalled by the front door. „I am really happy you came.” She added fiddling with her dress. „Don’t be a stranger, all right?”
„You should visit too.” He murmured „The others will be happy, Angus as well.”
„She would better be.” She laughed. „I said it before and I will repeat it; Now I am your problem.”
„I don’t remember signing up for that.”
„No take backs.”
„Bu-”
„NO take backs.” She cut him off with the widest grin, barely keeping laugh at bay.
Liam shook his head with a genuine smile. For once not even trying to mask it.
As he was reaching to open the door she made a step forward and pulled him into a tight hug. „I really missed you, you know.” For a moment she thought she heard a soft hitch of breath, but it could only be her imagination. As his hands engulfed her back; at first softly, a second later with firmness equal to hers; she had a feeling that no matter what life throws at them; they will preserve and forge their own fortune.
Distracted none of them heard a faint buzz by the stairs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are still here then maybe some of my addictional notes may interest you 😊
- Nev was definitely drawing Liam with the goofiest, most cheerful smile she had on her face in weeks (though she next she will draw the rest of their friends so it isn’t really a surprise)
- One would have to pry from my dead cold hands headcanon that Liam stood there for like 5 minutes watching beaming Nev draw.
- I don’t believe that Nev would actually find Liam’s heavily warded notebook, but I love the thought that he actually hesitated, because of his faith in her (she is some kind of a miracle - maker)
- The buzz by the stairs is Gwen, she is definitely trying to take a photo 😉
That’s it, I hope you enjoyed yourself 😊
And if you still haven’t seen Speaker by @speakergame then I cannot recommend checking it enough 😊

In honor of it being Sora’s birthday, I figured I might as well repost my favorite portion of Chapter 22 of Keys to the Kingdom since I wrote it roughly a year ago and it is, fittingly enough, focused on our dear boy’s in-fic birthday as well (and its also one of my favorite bits of Keys in general its very emotionally raw and it hits me in the honey nut feelios every time I reread it. Sooooo enjoy!
***
A few days after the first night they’d spent together, Kairi happens to remember a certain special occasion coming up very soon. And as soon as she does, she immediately begins planning, spreading the word to everyone but Sora as she devises a scheme meant solely for him. It comes just in time too as he’d recently regained the ability to sit up on his own again, his upper body now mostly mobile even if his legs still surge with pain any time he so much as tries to walk. Still, it’s enough to satisfy Kairi that her plan will work as she puts it into motion as soon as she wakes up on the intended morning, knowing that this is something neither of them will want to miss.
“Hey, good morning,” she greets brightly almost as soon as she opens her eyes, only to find that he’s already wide awake beside her. Ever since he’d asked to have his bed moved closer to the window, it’s become something of a pastime for him to casually watch the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of Radiant Garden down below, a pastime that she often joins him on in the early hours of the morning they spend together.
“Morning,” he says, turning to her with a smile.
“I have a surprise for you,” she grins as she sits up.
“A surprise? What is it?”
“Well, it wouldn’t be a surprise if I just told you what it was,” she chuckles while getting up out of bed.
“Aw, c’mon, Kairi…” he groans in faux exasperation. “Can’t I at least have a hint?”
“Just be patient!” she scolds, smirking. “I have to go get something for it first. Be right back.” So Kairi hurries off, leaving Sora in complete suspense for whatever she intends on giving him or showing him. She returns about an hour later, fully dressed and ready for the day as she rolls in perhaps the last thing he’d been expecting.
“It’s… a wheelchair…” he frowns, somewhat disappointed by the chair itself as well as what it implies. Namely, the idea that he’s still far more invalid than he wants to be.
“Hey, it wasn’t easy getting this wheelchair, you know,” Kairi protests, hands on her hips. “I’ve been pestering Cid to trade in some old computer parts for it for days . Besides, this isn’t the surprise. It’s just what’s going to get you to the surprise.”
“Wait…” Sora’s formerly dubious tone shifts to anticipation at this. “You mean…?”
“Yep,” Kairi nods as she summons her Keyblade. She points its tip toward the far side of the room as light surrounds it, and from her focus she forms a bright portal to some unknown location. “We’re finally getting you out of this room.”
Sora breaks into a huge smile at this, unable to hide how elated he is by the mere thought of getting out and seeing something other than the same four walls he’s gotten far too used to by now. Yet even so, he does have at least one reservation about the plan. “Uh… can I ask where we’re going?”
“No,” Kairi answers simply as she pushes the wheelchair closer to the bed. “You’ll see when we get there. Now come on; as excited as I am about this whole thing, I bet there’s no one more eager to see you get up and out then, well… you.”
“You can say that again,” Sora readily agrees, doing what little he can to get ready for the trip. It takes some doing between both him and Kairi, and though some significant pain does come along with the transition, he eventually manages to slip out of bed and into the chair. And as soon as she’s sure he’s properly seated and comfortable, Kairi wastes no time in wheeling him into the portal she made, hoping that her surprise, for as simple as it is, will satisfy him all the same.
When the light from the portal clears, the pair arrives in a picturesque place, to say the least; a deep, dense forest of lush, towering trees, drenched in the fresh, bright colors of a springtime morning. Between the gentle breeze swaying the leaves, birds chirp their cheery melodies from unknown perches, creating an air of captivating peace and promise that Sora can’t help but appreciate as he takes in a deep breath of the warm, crisp, clean air. “Whoa... “ he says, absolutely fascinated as he looks around. “Where are we?”
“We’re in a special world Merlin made just for me and Axel to train in,” Kairi explains, smiling as she pushes his chair down a makeshift path through the woods. “But since we haven’t really been training since he’s been gone, so I thought it might as well be put to use somehow. I also thought that some fresh air might be just what you needed.”
“You thought right,” Sora sighs contentedly as he hangs his arms behind his head. “This place is amazing.”
“It gets better,” Kairi stops short just shy of arriving at the edge of the forest. “But… you have to close your eyes for this next part.” Sora raises a curious eyebrow at this, but he ultimately complies when she insists. She says nothing as she wheels him forward a bit more, eventually bringing his chair to a stop in the right spot before scrambling to get the finishing touches ready.
“Will I get to open my eyes sometime today?” Sora asks teasingly, though he still keeps them closed as she had advised.
“Well, if you’re gonna be that impatient, you can open them… now,” Kairi says, watching his reaction with growing excitement as he gets his first glimpse of the stunning view before them.
Indeed, it astonishes him more than even the forest itself had; a vast, wide valley stretches out far before them, just as rich and radiant as the rest of the woods. And yet, what catches his attention almost as much as the view itself is what Kairi has set up beside him. “What’s all this?” he asks with a curious smile as he looks over the picnic lunch she’s prepared. It isn’t anything extravagant, just a few sandwiches and snacks, all of which she’s plated quite nicely. But what’s most interesting about the entire set up is a single elegantly-decorated cupcake topped with a brightly burning candle at the center of it all.
“Surprise!” Kairi cheers, holding the cupcake up to him. For his part, however, Sora simply looks between it and her, absolutely bemused until he shakes his head in confusion.
“Ok, I give up,” he says with a puzzled grin. “I have no idea what any of this is for.”
“...Sora... “ Kairi’s smile swiftly disappears at this. “Do you… not know what today is?”
“Um… I could be wrong, but… I’m pretty sure it’s a Thursday?”
“Well, yeah. But this Thursday also happens to be your birthday.”
Sora starts at this, somehow even more bewildered by this news as he shakes his head slowly. “N-no, it's… it can’t be, it’s not even…” he stops short, his eyes widening as the realization finally strikes him. “Oh my gosh, it is my birthday….”
“Honestly, Sora, how did you manage to forget your own birthday?” Kairi can’t help but chuckle at just how dumbfounded he is. “Especially since you never have any problems remembering mine or Riku’s.”
“Hey, can you really blame me?” Sora protests defensively. “After all, I don’t really remember celebrating my last birthday either…”
Kairi’s otherwise playful expression turns solemn at this as she realizes exactly why he lacks that memory, if what Riku had told her is anything to go off of. “W-well, do you at least know how old you’re turning today?”
“Of course I do,” he scoffs, though his confidence quickly drops off. “I’m… uh… mm…”
“16?”
“Yeah, that’s right, 16,” he nods before being caught off guard once again. “Wait, really ?!”
Kairi lets out an exasperated sigh, placing the cupcake in his lap before taking a seat on a tree stump across from him. “You’re absolutely hopeless,” she smirks, though her tone soon turns wistful as she looks out at the expansive view before them. “You know, if we were back home, then I’m sure everyone would be throwing you a huge party right now. Especially since 16 is such an important milestone.”
“Ugh, don’t remind me,” Sora crosses his arms, though he still smiles all the while. “My mom always used to tell me that when I turned 16, I’d become a ‘man’, whatever that’s supposed to mean.”
“It means you’re all grown up, silly,” Kairi laughs, amused. “And that’s a pretty special occasion. Which is why I wish I could have done more to help make it even more special for you, but… I hope this is at least close to good enough.”
“Are you kidding? This is great!” Sora readily assures her. His bright smile quickly fades however as he looks back down to the treat she’d given him. “Honestly, you might have even done too much. I mean, it’s not like it’s anything actually worth celebrating…”
“...What do you mean?”
He hesitates for a moment, but in the end he simply shakes his head and glances away instead. “I-it… it’s nothing…”
“It’s not nothing to me,” she leans forward, catching his gaze once more. “Sora, if something’s bothering you, then I want to hear about it. I told you before: I’ll do whatever I can to help you. But I can’t help if I don’t know what’s wrong.”
He pauses, clearly anxious about divulging something so personal, but ultimately he folds, knowing that if there’s anyone he can trust with what he’s about to say, then it’s her. “I… I don’t think I deserve this…” he begins carefully, yet honestly. “ Any of this. Everyone’s been so great about helping me ever since all this started, but I don’t get why . It’s like… you all just dropped everything just for me, even though you could be doing so many other important things! Heck, you and Axel even stopped your Keyblade training because of me.”
“Of course we did,” Kairi says earnestly. “Because we care about you, Sora. We all do. If any one of us were in your place, wouldn’t you do the same for us?”
“Of course I would!” Sora exclaims without a moment’s hesitation.
“And that’s why we’re doing all this for you,” she offers him a bittersweet smile. “Sora, you do so much for other people. You care so much about nearly everyone you meet. So… maybe it’s time for you to start caring a little more about yourself too…”
“W-well, maybe that would be easier for me to do if I stopped making so many mistakes all the time!” he snaps, largely without thinking.
“Mistakes?” she places a hand against the side of his chair as she looks at him, concerned. “L-like what?”
“Well, like falling for a dumb trap and failing my Mark of Mastery exam for starters,” he says, going down the lengthy list he’s been keeping mental tabs on for quite some time now. “Then I just lost one of the thirteen Keys to Kingdom Hearts of all things, to a member of the Organization that wants to take it over and destroy everything ! Then I agreed to let myself be captured and chained up and poisoned and the entire time the Organization could just be out there getting even more of those Keys and I can’t even do anything to stop them! And that’s all on top of losing my strength not just once but twice in a row, only now it’s even worse because not only can I not even fight, I can’t even walk ! A-and…” A small, harsh sob escapes him, the weight of his multiple mistakes weighing heavy on his heart, especially the worst of those mistakes, one that he can’t even bear to voice aloud. “And I just keep on making all these stupid mistakes over and over again when everyone’s counting on me! I-I feel like I’m failing everyone who needs me… A-and that’s exactly why I don’t deserve this... “
Tears brim in his eyes as he shakily holds the cupcake out to her, silently begging her to take it away from him. And not just that, but the kindness and compassion that she and all the others have shown him right along with it, all in the belief that he’s done nothing to earn it. That he should be cast out and hated instead of being cared for and comforted. And at that moment, Kairi has never wanted to prove him wrong more than she does now.
“No…” she gently pushes the cupcake back to him. “It’s exactly why you do deserve it … ” He stills, looking to her in genuine disbelief even as she continues. “Sora… I wish you would see yourself the way everyone else does… Because if you did, then you wouldn’t see any of those mistakes. You’d see all of the good you’ve done, all of the worlds you’ve saved, and all of the people you’ve helped. And I should know; after all… I am one of those people…”
“B-but I put you in so much danger!” Sora protests tightly. “All of you! You should have never gone to rescue me! You should have just-”
“Should have what ? Left you there with Maleficent?” Kairi asks, tensing up at the very thought. “I don’t think so. I can’t speak for the others, Sora, but for me? Finding out that you’d been captured, that you were being tortured … It was one of the worst things I’ve ever had to go through.”
“A-and you shouldn’t have had to go through that!” Sora counters, still immensely distraught. “You shouldn’t have to worry about me because I should be stronger than this! I need to be stronger than this, b-because if I’m not then… what good am I to anyone…?”
His last statement is so quiet she barely hears it, but it still nearly breaks her heart all the same. Because it’s at that moment that she finally realizes exactly what his problem is: he has so much love in his heart to give to others, he always has. But he never bothers to spare any of that love for himself. Which was why, in place of what his own heart can’t give him, she decides to give him some of hers instead.
“You’re enough…” she whispers to him, kneeling down in front of his chair and taking his hands in her own. “You’ve always been enough…” She can feel the warmth of tears starting to build up in her own eyes now but still she doesn’t stop; she can’t stop. Because he needs this, more than he really knows. “C-can I tell you something? W-when I first started my training, I felt like it was...  a lot to take in. Everyone expected so much out of me when I-I’d barely even used my Keyblade before. It’s been getting easier but, still, there’s sometimes where I worry… What if I’m good enough? I mean, stacked up against you and Riku and even Axel, I… I can’t help but feel like I’m the weakest link of the bunch, you know?”
“K-Kairi, what are you talking about?” Sora asks, immediately placing all of his worries with her and essentially forgetting about himself in the process. “You’re not a weak link at all! Once your training’s done, I know you’ll do great!”
“See?” she can’t help but smile softly as she squeezes his hands a bit. “There you go again. You always know how to help everyone else feel better, but… all this time, you’ve just been… miserable on the inside, haven’t you?” He says nothing, instead looking away from her morosely as she goes on. “But now I think I finally understand why. I thought I was under a lot of pressure, but you, Sora? You literally have the weight of hundreds of worlds resting on your shoulders! And it’s not fair that you have to carry that weight all on your own. Especially since… you don’t have to…”
“Yes, I do…” he sighs, closing his eyes solemnly. “Because if I don’t, then who will?”
“ I will,” she answers immediately. “Riku will. Donald and Goofy will. Leon, Aerith, Yuffie, and Cid will. Axel will, the king will, Master Merlin and Master Yen Sid will. So many people will and can help you, Sora. We all want to help you carry that weight. All you need to do is ask.”
He takes in a deep, unsteady breath at this as he stares past her toward the rich blue sky above. “I-I… I’m not good at asking…”
“I know. That’s why I’ve already made up my mind that I’m going to help you anyway, even if you don’t ask. And you know...” She smiles, slipping her hands out of his as she places the cupcake back into them. “Even if you are technically a ‘man’ now, I still don’t see any reason for you to waste a perfectly good birthday cake, now do you?”
A small, yet genuine laugh escapes him at this as he accepts the fork she offered him. And with it, the help that she’s so ready to freely give him in both this moment and beyond it. “I can’t say that I do,” he says just as he blows the cupcake’s nearly burnt-down candle out.
“Did you wish for anything?” she asks him curiously.
“Yeah…” he says happily, his gaze resting solely on her as he wipes the last of his tears away. “It already came true.”
***
The sun is just starting to set over the forest by the time they leave it. As the day slowly, peacefully passes by, the rest of their conversation flows much more lighthearted than how it had started out (though the cupcake they end up splitting does raise their spirits quite a bit). And yet, they’re soon met with an even more festive mood when they return to Merlin’s house, only to arrive to find everyone eagerly waiting for them with a surprise of their own in mind.
“Happy birthday, Sora!” everyone exclaims in bright unison the moment they spot the pair emerging from the portal Kairi had made.
For his part, Sora is even more caught off guard by this surprise than he had been with Kairi’s, especially when he notices the extent of it. They’ve decorated the entire house with countless colorful streamers and balloons, and have even gone as far as to collaborate on a sizable cake, one that is, sure enough, topped with 16 candles exactly. “Whoa! You guys did all this for me?” he asks, genuinely touched by their impressive efforts. “How’d you even know it was my birthday in the first place?”
“Kairi told us,” Aerith informs with a warm smile.
“Oh, really…?” Sora glances back at her with a knowing smirk.
“W-well, someone had to,” Kairi huffs, pushing his chair forward a bit. “It’s not like you would have seeing as how you didn’t even remember what today was to begin with.”
“You forgot your birthday, Sora?” Goofy asks with a small chuckle.
“Why isn’t that not surprising?” Donald adds, crossing his arms.
“H-hey! I didn’t forget it!” Sora counters, flustered. “I just-”
“Like I said, you just didn’t remember it,” Kairi cuts in with a wry smile. “Which is exactly the same thing as forgetting it, but don’t worry. None of us will fault you for it.”
“Yeah, especially not when cake’s on the line!” Yuffie quips with a spirited wink.
“Yeah, cake you didn’t even help the rest of us make,” Axel points out, raising a critical eyebrow at her.
“Aw, cut me some slack; cooking is not my strong suit.”
“ Clearly .”
“Would you two cut that out?” Cid scowls, annoyed as he comes to stand between them. “I’m sure the last thing the poor kid wants to hear on his special day is you two runnin’ your traps at each other!”
“I know I don’t,” Leon agrees dryly.
This elicits a small chuckle out of Aerith, one that both Sora and Kairi quickly join in on until soon enough, the entire room erupts into bright, genuine laughter. Once that laughter dies down, the party fully kicks off. While it isn’t a particularly large get-together, it’s certainly an enjoyable one, filled with talking, laughter, and of course, cake. They keep it going late on into the night, until all of them are tired yet content with the time they’ve spent together as they all fondly part ways to head to bed. As she usually does, Kairi stays with Sora, though as she climbs into bed alongside him, she can’t help but notice the almost glowing smile he falls asleep with. It doesn’t take much thought to figure out where that smile is coming from either. After all, he’d told her as much earlier that very evening and when he did, she could tell just how much he had really been needing something like this to begin with.
Because for the first time in a very long time, he’d been given a chance to feel less like the savior of the worlds he’s expected to be, and more like the normal, now-16 year old he really is. And for the first time in a long time, he’d been given a chance to let the weight of the worlds he’s forced himself to carry just wait, if only for a little while.

His first transformation
Eyyy i finally finished this
i thought it would be fun
word count: 1457
explaination in tags
The day starts… much better than others. Ranboo is going for a walk, paying some respects to the damage that Dream had caused to L’Manberg. The crater where it once stood. Ranboo clutched his memory book, looking at what the now imprisoned man had done. Ranboo smiled. Things were going to get better. He hadn’t heard the voice in a while, he found a new home by Phil and Techno. Nothing could ruin this moment.
“Hello dreamon” Fundy’s voice chirped from behind Ranboo, making him jump, luckily he wasnt so close to the ledge he was at risk of falling into the crater but he was still spooked. He turned to face the fox with a very confused “What..?”
“Don’t play dumb with me” Fundy said with a smug smile “Dream told me a while ago. Now Dream is in prison and i want to run some tests on a real dreamon”
“I.. I’m not a dreamon. I’m half enderman-”
“And your other half is dreamon. Honestly i'm surprised i didnt realize sooner” Fundy took a step towards Ranboo, making the hybrid step closer to the ledge
“N-no… that.. That can't be” ranboo felt his anxiety rise at this idea. It feel wrong but… what… what if Fundy is right. No. That can’t be “I… If I were, why does it matter…?”
Fundy was reaching for something in his bag “well. Ranboo, i'm a part of a little group of people called Dreamon Hunters. And if you’re at all related to a dreamon like Dream, you need to be dealt with”
Ranboo took a step back, right on the ledge. What? Related to Dream…? No.. that can't be true, can it..? “What.. does that mean…?” he glanced down as Fundy had grabbed what he was looking for and with a quick movement had produced a bottle of something and splashed it on Ranboo, who screamed in pain and fell backwards. What Fundy had splashed on Ranboo was not just any water, it was prime water, something very dangerous to dreamons. “Holy shit..” Fundy said looking over the edge, Ranboo had landed on a decent sized ledge, clutching his new burn. The stress and raw emotion of this situation was making Ranboo’s body change.. and transform “it worked!” Fundy smiled
Ranboo’s horns grew longer, as did many of his features. His fingers became closer to claws as a growl grew in his throat. This is when Fundy realized “wait.. it worked” he backed up a few steps when he heard what could be described as a sheik of rage. Fundy quickly pulled out his communicator and sent a message to Tubbo “dreamon. L’Manberg crater. Hurry” he looked up to see the creature that was earlier Ranboo use his longer limbs and claws to pull himself out of the pit
Fundy started to back away from the very angry dreamon “H-hey… ranboo… i can guess youre a little angry” he reached for his bag. Ok.. take inventory. Sword, hoe(of course for defending against dreamons), and.. Perfect. A bottle. Fundy triumphantly pulled it out to find.. Empty. Fuck “C-come on.. It wasnt personal a-and in my defence… it was for research and I didn’t think it would work” that was the exact wrong thing to say. The dreamon roared in rage and charged. Fundy turned tail and ran, checking his communicator with hopes that Tubbo was nearby, but he couldn't tell because tubbo hadnt responded. After several sharp turns, the fox had made it to the holy land. Dreamonic ranboo skid to a stop just at the border, not even trying to step onto the land of prime, he did try to rake his claws at Fundy, who was thankfully just out of range. Fundy’s communicator chirped with a notification. Fundy took it out and glanced at the dreamon pacing the border. Waiting. Fundy checked the message, it was from tubbo, that said ‘A dreamon! Holy shit! Where are you so you can tell me more’
Fundy responded with a simple ‘I’m at church prime, barely escaped it. Be careful when you get here, it's still roaming’ Tubbo gave a quick response and Fundy looked at the beast. It’s eyes held a rage that Fundy didn’t know Ranboo could even have. Moving to the safer space of the church, he glanced over to the dreamon, who was pacing by the border of the holy land.
After a few minutes, Tubbo walked in, wearing his dreamon hunting clothes, looking over at hi compatriot “I messaged Sapnap but he said he’s busy doing something with Karl and Quackity”
Fundy sighed “Then it’s just the two of us”
“How did dream even get out of prison. I thought that place was inescapable”
“It’s not Dream. Its someone else. I thought you’d be able to tell when you saw it” Fundy felt a twinge of panic at what he knew was coming of Tubbo’s response
“I didnt see any dreamon” tubbo saw the fear in Fundy’s eyes
“We need to go. Now. before someone else finds it. Someone who cant defend themself” Fundy was ready to go, as he had already filled some bottles with prime water. Tubbo nodded and turned to leave, Fundy following after “I doubt we’ll be able to do the ritual, but with any hope we can weaken it enough to transform back to normal form”
“You saw the dreamon transform.. Holy shit” as they passed over the border  of the holy land, Tubbo thought to ask a very important question “If not Dream, who is the dreamon?”
Before Fundy could answer, a roar echoed through the air, startling some birds. Fundy reached for a bottle of prime water, looking around quickly trying to pinpoint where the sound came from, before he saw it. Long thin limbs ending with clawed almost paws. Those red eyes completely ignored Tubbo as it charged, running on all fours, to kill the bastard who burned him in the first place. It was more difficult to tell with the burns on his body, but the white of his skin was creeping further as he was in this form longer. It was barely noticable as it hasnt been too long but anyone who knows Ranboo well would be able to tell. Before he could lunge he heard a the voice of his best friend, in absolute shock, say “Ranboo?”
Ranboo, if you could call this dreamonic form Ranboo, skidded to a stop, basically sitting on the ground like a dog. “Ranboo.. Is .. his other half is Dreamon..” Tubbo was dumbfounded, but he did notice how ready Fundy was to use his prime water “Fundy! Put that away, this is our friend!”
“That thing isnt ranboo! Its a monster using his form to trick you!” Fundy replied, hearing the growl growing from Ranboo.
“Fundy. Stop. We.. we can try to snap him out of this..” Tubbo said
“Are you kidding! It doesnt care about you! It will kill you at it’s first chance”
“Stop. We are doing this and that is final. Understood fundy?” Tubbo was getting angry, fundy didnt say anything “we.. just need to remind him of who he is” Tubbo looked at the dreamon. He had calmed down, his tail swaying a bit like a cat’s. On his back was a small set of insectoid wings, Nowhere near large enough to use to fly. Neat.
“Ranboo.. Do you remember who i am?” Tubbo tried, only getting a tilted head in response “I.. I’ll take that as a no.. I’m Tubbo, you-”
“This isnt going to work. If you want to remind him of who he is-”
“Fundy..”
“Who he is is a fucking coward” fundy looked straight at the dreamon, who seemed to actually flinch at that “When i first heard what he believed i thought he was an indecisive, insane spineless fuck but when i realized he was right and wanted to join him to continue what he believed he left me like everyone in my fucking life” Ranboo seemed to be slouching.. Or at least.. Smaller.. Closer to his normal size, he backed up a bit away from the angry fox “and even now when he could so easily kill me, youre being a fucking coward” Ranboo whimpered
“Fundy enough”. Tubbo was looking at the dreamon. Ranboo was about his normal size but his eyes were still that red. “Ranboo.. Its o-” Ranboo had gotten up and made a run for it in the opposite direction, Tubbo was angry “fundy what the fuck!”
“Looks like it worked”
“Thats not my point!”
“Hes half dreamon. Hes a danger and if you dont understand that then i will deal with him if he ever goes to that state again. Understood, Tubbo?” Fundy glared
