actually sometimes being neurodivergent is great bc you have a particular kind of Silly Mode that just . manifests glory. harmless fun is my precious side quest & i have a high score in whimsy. like okay if i gotta be the first dork in the dance pit it's gonna be me and this random toddler and we're gonna avril-style rock ouuuuttt

Namely that we really should have ended the flashback when WWX fell.#And then gone back to present time for a bit - or even go to a different flashback.#The sense of time passing isn't as strong as it *could* be.#We get *told* three months pass and that they've been looking for WWX. But to the audience it's been...15 min.#Less than seven minutes if you count the flute playing.#This guy when through a whole aesthetic and persona shift in less time than it takes to walk through a corn field.#Guy who listened to less than half an emo album and dyed all his clothes black. And jorted all his jeans.#Timeskips can be sudden and work out just fine! I personally feel like this one would be stronger with better pacing.#Feel free to disagree with me!#In case anyone is wondering why JC and LWJ are still holding hands: 1) Haunted house episode.#2) I needed to practice drawing hand holding at some point. george rexstrew deserves awards for many things but i have to say. edwin’s bloodcurdling scream as niko gets killed deserves a whole award unto itself. like. that scream did not feel at all like a tv show scream. to a somewhat jarring degree. and i can’t express how much I respect that

#he has a number of very convincing screams and suffering noises which I imagine was an important prerequisite for the role #but this one is just especially chilling and again. jarring. not saying that the other actors are bad or anything but no one even comes #close to competing with george and its stark in moments like this #another screaming moment that I thought he did really well in particular is far easier to gloss over and that’s #when he and charles are escaping hell and he almost gets dragged down into lust #when he’s screaming out for charles he borderline SCREECHES #throughout that arc in general it’s just incredible but yeah #I think part of what makes it so convincing is that he isn’t afraid to be high pitched and genuinely Scream rather than yell #like. he is clearly immune to being put off by ‘you scream like a girl’ rhetoric #I think a lot of male actors avoid screaming and screeching like that for that internalized reason when. if you wanna be as realistic as #possible. a scream is high pitched. if you’re scared for your fucking life it’s just involuntary #I can also see it being uncommon due to difficulties getting that sound adequately recorded but yeah anyway you get my point #tldr: george rexstrew is great at disturbingly realistic screaming and I applaud him for that #I really hope he didn’t have to retake that part too many times..#his poor throat……….#george rexstrew #edwin #edwin payne #dead boy detectives #dead boy detectives spoilers

im sitting here wondering how the ADA would react to skks dynamic in canon. cus like..... I don't think ANYONE from the ADA has ever actually seen Dazai and Chuuya in the same room. and the way Dazai talks to and teases Chuuya is SO DIFFERENT than how he behaves with the people at the ADA that I feel like they'd get fucking whiplash from it.

i know everyone likes to put tharja in the "yandere goth girl" category but tbh i feel like pigeonholing her into one specific archetype does a huge disservice to her character. is she obsessed with curses and robin? yes. is she constantly shoved into a fanservice role by intsys? absolutely.

but i think a lot of people forget just how impactful a lot of her supports are...there's something about tharja that makes nearly everyone who interacts with her divulge their deepest secrets and points of anxiety with her. we see this with libra, who tells her of the abandonment he endured at the hands of his parents. we see it with nowi, whose cheerful demeanor slips off as she tells tharja of her missing parents. and although tharja is not the only one lon'qu confides in regarding ke'ri, their support is notably the only one in which lon'qu divulges that there was romantic involvement between he and his childhood friend.

and despite her antisocial exterior, she always listens mindfully and offers to help! she even goes out of her way to discreetly help the shepherds (getting virion to do odd jobs that benefit civilians, interrogating henry to make sure he bears no ill will towards ylisse, etc).

a big thing about tharja is that she IS kind. she IS considerate. she just also has a reputation to uphold as a dark mage and that (paired with her overall awkwardness ofc) makes her true nature hard to see at first glance
