Suddenly wonder. What does Hiro thinks Spencer as? Enemy or friend? or something else?
Tumblr media
after the events of Hero of the Rails, hiro and spencer’s relationship is quite awkward. hiro doesn’t hold any grudges against spencer since he’s a naturally forgiving person and thinking too much about how that silver beast wanted him dead made him develop a migraine.
hiro is also kind of… empathetic? towards spencer? hiro can’t exactly consider spencer a friend, but after the smoke cleared, hiro tried to reason with him and find out why spencer’s acting the way he is. he just can’t wrap it around his head – there’s no way someone was so nasty to him with no sad reason behind it, no? he’s still warm, still as saintly as ever. the victim is the one who’s feeling sorry for the person who wronged him.
and spencer? spencer can’t handle it. it’s too humiliating and frustrating for someone so prideful like spencer to be pitied and offered kindness by someone he placed lower than him in his social hierarchy! he should be the one making hiro grovel and beg for his life! spencer likes the attention, though. he thinks it just makes hiro look kind of crazy and desperate
anyways this image is their relationship post-HOTR:

PotP Ch 54 - Christmas With The Krampus: Part 3
Tumblr media
"Hey, thanks for helping out on such short notice," Tadashi said.
"Oh no problem, buddy." Fred's voice came over the phone. "Minimax and I were getting bored anyway. Christmas is never as big a deal as Hanukkah at my house. The only thing going on is the neighborhood lights display contest."
"Your Mom's in full-blown socialite mode?" Tadashi asked, already knowing the answer.
"Totally. Monster hunting is way more fun than tea and crumpets."
"There's no monster, Fred," Varian yelled over Tadashi's shoulder into the phone.
"Just let us know if you or Minimax see Vigor," Hiro added, ignoring his brother.
"Ten-four!... or is it four-ten... Either way, MiniMax and Fredzillia are on the job!"
Tadashi hung up the phone as the three of them entered the near-empty shopping mall.
Most of the storefronts were closed, only a handful of people roamed the food court, and a sign on the door said that the shopping center was operating at half-hours for the holiday. So they had only about an hour left to look for clues.
They made their way to the top floor, hoping that perhaps Vigor was just hiding inside, maybe wrecking one of the other window displays for the fun of it, only to have that hope dashed once they reached Canardist's emporium.
The door was ripped off its hinges and the inside of the shop was completely trashed.
"Still think there's no monster?" Hiro asked.
"Anyone could have done this," Varian replied, though with slightly less confidence than before.
Tadashi picked up a scroll off the floor and frowned. He couldn't read it.
"Varian, I think we need to keep more of an open mind here." He cautioned. "I mean, you and Canardist come from a world where fairy tale princesses are real and magical curses are a thing. Why can't this Krampus exist too?"
"Because..." Varian huffed but didn't finish his thought as he picked up an amulet hanging from a shelf. This one with Corona's royal seal on it.
"Because you don't wanna admit that you're wrong." Hiro finished for him.
Varian shot a glare at him, but couldn't deny it.
"What do you know about this Krampus? What do the legends actually say?" Tadashi asked.
Varian shrugged. "Not much. He's supposed to be Saint Nicholas's helper. While St Nick rewards good little kids with toys and sweets, the Krampus collects the souls of bad children and tortures them for their misdeeds."
He shook his head. "It's just a story parents tell their kids to get them to behave. Like with the Sandman who brings nightmares or Zhan Tiri and his shadow soldiers. None of it's real."
Hiro and Tadashi shared a look but didn't press for more details about the other horror stories that Varian had mentioned.
"Look, let's just run with the premise that all stories are based on a kernel of truth," Tadashi argued. "Like with Troy and the Iliad... exaggerated no doubt, but based off a real place and presumably a real war... With that being the case here, what would a real Krampus be like, you think?"
Varian gave the proposal some serious consideration. "Well, I guess... if he was real, he'd be some type of creature... just an animal."
"And what would a large wild animal do with a pet monkey?"
"Eat it," Hiro said, almost immediately. It was the most logical conclusion.
The other two boys grimaced.
The Varian shrugged again. "Well, nasty way to go, but what can you do? Who wants to break the bad news to Canardist?"
Tadashi stopped him from walking away. "Hold on. We can't just let a six-foot animal run around the city eating people's pets, and possibly attacking people themselves."
"How did he even get into this world?" Hiro asked.
"That would be a question for Canardist," Tadashi answered. "In the meantime, we have to hunt down this Krampus and capture it."
"And what do we do with it after we've caught it?" Varian asked. "I can't send it back. The portal isn't working the way I need it to."
"We'll figure that out once we find it... the only question is, how do we find it?"
"I have a bio-reading of the creature," Baymax responded.
"Really? How did you get that?" Hiro asked.
"It is shedding." The robot pointed at the floor and indeed there was hair everywhere.
"Great work Baymax.' Tadashi patted his creation on the shoulder. "Let's go suit up."
----------------
"Behold!" Minimax pointed down below into an alley, "There goes our psychic primate pal!"
Fred followed his faithful sidekick's finger and sure enough, spotted the chimpanzee running frantically down the road.
"Hey guys!" came Fred's voice over the intercom. "We found Vigor!"
"He's still alive?' Varian asked skeptically, as he held onto Baymax's arm tighter. The robot was carrying all three of them as they flew through the air, with Hiro and Tadashi riding on top and Varian cradled in his arms; having lost at rock, paper, scissors.
"Not for long," Hiro replied as he studied the scans through his helmet interface. A red dot was racing across the city map. "Whatever it is that tore up the store is heading straight your way Fred... and it's fast."
"Don't worry. We're on it." Fred assured them and was gone.
----------------
The superheroes found poor Vigor cowering in the corner of an alley.
"Hey buddy, it's okay." Fred coaxed the frightened animal. "You're safe now."
"Yes, no fiendish foe will do you harm while we're around," Minimax added.
The chimp came out of hiding and cooed in recognition when he realized who the armored men were.
He waddled over and hugged Hiro around his legs. A predicament that Hiro absolutely was not comfortable with.
"Yeah, th-that's right... we're here to take you home." He awkwardly said as he tried to gently pry the monkey off of him.
That's when an ominous shadow fell across them.
Everyone turned as one to see the Krampus snarling at them.
It was a towering nine-foot-tall, from its claws on its hind legs to the tips of the horns on its head. It was covered head to toe in dark fur and its bottom jaw had two protruding tusks. It slobbered drool as it growled like a dog, and Hiro could have sworn that its eyes glowed red.
Vigor howled in fright and quickly scrambled away and up the side of the building before anyone could stop him.
The monster took after him just as quickly.
The boys could feel the wind rush past them as the creature leaped up towards the roof, like how a car whizzing by might blow away the papers in your hand.
"Ok... take note... the Krampus moves very fast," Tadashi said, pointing out the obvious as everyone else stood there stunned.
Hiro shook out of his stupor first.
"Quick Baymax, after them."
He hopped onto the robot's back just as Fred swung himself up onto the roof. Minimax wasn't far behind as they rocketed into the air themselves.
"Do you see where they're heading?" Varian's voice came in over the intercom.
"I've already lost sight of them," Fred replied.
"They've turned down 2nd Market St." Baymax calmly stated.
Hiro followed Baymax's finger and his heart sank as something large and furry ducked into the subway.
"Oh no."
"What's happened?" Tadashi asked.
"They just went into Memento station."
"Don't worry, we'll head them off," Varian answered as he fished the portal magnets from his coat.
----------------
Varian and Tadashi exited the portal just in time to see everyone rushing towards the nearest exit, screaming and panicking as they went.
In the middle of the waiting platform, now on all fours and sniffing the ground with its pig-like snout, was the Krampus. It seemed totally disinterested in the frightened crowd as it poked about the various discarded presents and groceries.
"Soooo...what do we do now?" Tadashi asked as they watched the beast get a pair of candy cane-printed boxers caught on its nose. It took a second to shake the offending underwear off before it went to gnawing on the wrapping paper that it had been packaged in.
"Well.... umm..." Varian's mind raced as he tried to rationalize the impossibility before him. "it's... it's an animal, right?
"R-right?" Tadashi agreed, unsure what Varian was getting at.
"So how would you capture a really large animal?"
"No clue," Tadashi replied, never taking his eyes off the monster as it now decided to eat a forgotten Christmas ham.
"Well how would, like, the rangers catch a bear or a lion?"
"Tranquilizers, but we haven't any-"
Varian snapped his fingers. "Sleeping powder!"
He then started to search his pockets and harness... only to slow down as he realized that Tadashi was right. "I'm out of sleeping powder..."
That's when the Krampus finally took notice of them.
Both boys gulped as the creature let out a snarl.
Varian began to scour his pockets even more frantically. "H-hold him off while I try to make a new batch of sleeping potion."
"What am I supposed to do? Wave a red flag at him like a bullfighter?"
Varian didn't answer as he screwed the top off a chimball full of blue liquid.
You could not see his eyes behind his visor, but it was clear that Tadashi was rolling them as he pressed a button on the side of his helmet and disappeared from view.
This was enough of a surprise to slow the Krampus down, as it stopped stalking towards them.
A moment later a roll of sparkly red wrapping paper, discarded by its owner in their flight from the station, lifted itself off the ground and seemingly hung in the air as if by magic.
"Here boy, toro." Tadashi whistled as he waved the paper in front of the creature.
The Krampus howled and rushed towards the sparkly paper. Tadashi barely had time to move out of the way as it grabbed the cardboard tube and bounded away, ripping the paper to shreds in a frenzy.
"Well, there goes that idea."
"How's it going?" Hiro breathlessly asked as he, Fred, and the two robots finally ran inside.
The Krampus stopped immediately and focused its attention on the newcomers.
Heroes and monster eyed each other for only a moment as Hiro realized his mistake. Then the mass of fur and muscle was bounding towards them at top speed before Tadashi could even shout a warning.
Everyone scattered, only for the Krampus' jaws to clamp around Minimax's foot at the last second.
The robot yelled as the monster shook him back and forth before throwing him into the air. Fortunately, being a robot, he was only momentarily disoriented as opposed to being hurt.
While the heroes were busy checking over their friend, Vigor screeched wildly as the monster took chase after the monkey once more.
"No!" Hiro screamed, too late, as the Krampus overtook the poor animal.
The creature let out a victorious howl, and then, to everyone's astonishment, it gave Vigor a playful, sloppy lick of its tongue and bounded away barking. Vigor made a chittering sound, like the money equivalent of a laugh, and happily chased after the monster.
"Awe, how cuuuuteee!" Fred squeed while everyone else stood there dumbfounded. "They've been playing tag this whole time."
"It kind of acts like a giant dog," Hiro observed as he tilted his head in thought.
"Wild dogs can still be dangerous though." Tadashi reminded him. "We need to capture him and take him someplace safe."
"Got it!" Varian shouted triumphantly as he held up a chimball. Before he could throw the sleeping powder, however, the police barged into the station.
"Chief Cruz!" Hiro rushed toward the lead officer in relief. "We need to find a humane way of cap-"
"We're already on it." Cruz interrupted, shoving him aside. "You kids need to clear out of the way so animal control can take care of this."
"Kids?" Hiro quietly questioned, but he was ignored as some of the officers whipped out a tranquilizer gun.
The Krampus let out an inhuman scream as the dart embedded itself into its leg right above its paw. He started to hiss and growl as it tried fruitlessly to shake the painful splinter off. Vigor gave a worried whimper, unsure how to help his friend.
Unsuccessful in removing the dart, the Krampus then turned his attention towards his attackers, lowering on his haunches as if to pounce like a cat. Fortunately, Baymax was able to grab the creature before it could jump upon anyone.
As the robot and monster wrestled each other Cruz was already ordering his men to shoot again.
"Be careful of Bay- Red Panda," Hiro advised.
"I'm not concerned for your pet robot right now." Cruz snapped."If this next tranquilizer doesn't work then we may have to put the poor creature down."
Hiro frowned, not only at Cruz's dismissal of Baymax's safety nor even that the officer was considering lethal force, but the Chief of Police was no longer talking to them like they were vigilantes underfoot but speaking down to them like they were children... like they were the same kids he would take out to ice cream once a month.
However, the worrisome thought that they might have been discovered was banished from Hiro's mind when the Krampus broke free of Baymax's grasp, dogged the second dart, and ran down the railway tunnel.
"Blast," Cruz muttered.
"Don't worry. We'll track him down for you." Hiro yelled as he ran towards Baymax, happy to have an excuse to get away. He and the rest of the supers were already half way down the tunnel before Chief Cruz could protest.
----------------
Varian was the one to find the creature first. The Karmpus was huddled in an alley whimpering as it licked its wound. He snarled as Varian approached.
"Easy now...." Varian said softly as he inched his way forward. "Easy... I'm not going to hurt ya."
For a moment he thought the Krampus would run away again but it stumbled as soon as it tried to put weight upon its paw, and then promptly laid back down with a huff.
Varian untied the bandanna from around his neck, poured some sort of substance on it from his chimbag, and cautiously sat down next to the monster.
"Here... let's see what we can do about that paw..."
He pulled the tranquilizer dart out and the creature howled, but before the animal could even think of hurting him, Varian had wrapped the wound up with the bandana.
The Krampus seemed confused by such an action and sniffed curiously at the piece of cloth around his paw.
"It's just some chlorhexidine." he explained, though he did not know if the monster could understand him or not. "It should help ease the pain and sterilize the wound."
All the Krampus did in reply was to sigh and lay his head on Varian's lap, pinning him to the spot.
Varian resigned himself to his fate as a pillow and absentmindedly began to stroke the beast's fur.
"I know... San Fansokoyo is new and exciting and so full of amazing things to see, there's friends to make and wonderful inventions to discover... but it's also sometimes scary and unfamiliar.... with its own dangers... different from Corona's, sure, but they're still there... hiding just under the shining surface.... and you'll need those friends to help you avoid them, and they will cause they really, genuinely care about you... but... but.... it's still not home......"
The Krampus gave a sympathetic whine.
"You're probably missing the snowy pine forest that you grew up in... aren't you boy?"
Another little whimper.
"And maybe even... even your old friends and your own family?"
Suddenly Varian wrapped his arms around the hairy beast and gave him a desperate hug.
"I'm sorry..." he whispered, "I'm sorry, I don't know how to get you back. I've tried and I've tried... and no, I don't want to leave everybody, but... but.... but Dad...."
The Krampus nuzzled his arm in comfort.
"Oh, what are we going to do?"
----------------
"Cantet nunc io, chorus angelorum;
Cantet nunc aula cælestium,
Gloria, gloria in excelsis Deo,
Venite adoremus
Venite adoremus
Venite adoremus
Dominum."
The rest of the gang found Varian and the Krampus in the alley and much to their surprise he was singing a Christmas carol while gently petting the ferocious animal's head.
Said creature was contently purring in his lap. Which sounded more like a motorcycle idling than a furry friend expressing contentment.
Vigor cooed with delight and ran to meet them, throwing his arms around his new friend.
"Well, we finally caught him... now what?" Tadashi asked.
Varian only looked up at him at a loss and shrugged.
"We.... we have to try the portal again, I guess," Hiro said hesitantly, rubbing his forehead in thought. "I know it's not ready yet, b-but it's not like we can keep him hidden in the city."
Varian shook his head, and with some effort crawled out from under the huge beast and stood up. "It isn't just that that portal is broken. We don't even know where to send him to. We're talking about the entire world here. We can't just dump in him Corona, or the middle of the ocean, or 17th-century Istanbul... The point is... We need an energy signature to find where he actually lives, and I've no idea where we would get that."
"Well if we can't send him back, what do we do? Turn him over to Cruz and the animal control?" Tadashi asked
"I don't know if they would know what to do with him either," Hiro said.
"Maybe put him in the Zoo?" Fred suggested.
"They wouldn't know how to take care of him. It's not like mythical creatures are their specialty."
"I know!" Minimax shouted. "We can make him our new team mascot!"
"Great idea!" Fred joined in.
"Oh no... nope" Tadashi shook his head. "For starters, we have way too many exotic pets as it is, and secondly we wouldn't know how to take care of him either."
"I think we may have to ask Carnardist." Varian finally admitted. "She knows more than she's telling us."
----------------
"Oh, Vigor!"  Carnardist cheered with glee as she smothered her long-lost pet with kisses. "Oh, I was so worried. Thank goodness you are unhurt."
As the happy pair were reunited, Hiro made sure that the blanket they had thrown over the Krampus remained in place.
They had called the cafe and asked the older woman to meet them back at her shop, and the supers had to think of a creative way to keep the inter-dimensional monster hidden from the rest of the shoppers; as few as there were today. The best they could come up with on such short notice was a shopping cart with a quilt hastily thrown over it.
Varian awkwardly coughed to gain the lady's attention.
"Yes, malchick?"
Varian ignored the unwanted nickname.
"You were right about the Krampus."
Making sure that no one was looking into the shop window he pulled the cover off.
Carnardist screamed.
"No. No. It's okay. He won't harm anyone." Varian tried to calm the frightened woman down.
It wasn't until Vigor hopped out of her arms and went to hug the creature did she stop panicking.
"See? He's a nice daemon." Hiro encouraged.
"The only problem is we don't know how to send him home," Fred explained.
"And we know you have a portal." Tadashi chimed in.
Carnardist eyes grew dark and she slowly straightened to her full height, even though she was several inches shorter than the teenage boys before her.
"Is that so?"
"Oh stop pretending." Vairan huffed. "You don't want to share your tech with us, then fine. The least you can do is put this guy back where you got him."
Carnardist folded her arms. "There are other ways to move between worlds than your portals malchick, and they require far more than just flipping a switch. I can not 'send him back'. I can not send anyone anywhere."
"Then how did you get here?" Tadashi challenged, ignoring Varian's flabbergasted expression.
Carnardist seemed to relent at this and walked over to a box full of scrolls that had tipped over. She picked one up. "This is the incantation for opening the door." She made to hand the parchment over to Tadashi, before quickly snatching it away. "But! It will not lead you to where you want to go. The window does not open to another world, but a pathway between the worlds."
"A pathway between worlds?" Varian echoed slowly.
"A dark place... an eternity of nothingness that is very difficult to traverse. Only populated by the remnants of dead universes, lost to time eons ago."
"The void," Hiro said softly as realization dawned on him.
"Even if you know where you are going," Carnardist continued. "and know the markers to find, making the journey would require much preparation and immense fortitude. Are you sure you can face such dangers?"
"No problem," Fred said as she finally handed over the scroll to Tadashi. "We're heroes! After battling supervillains, killer robots, and literal monsters, how hard can a little old trip through negative space be?"
"There are things hiding in the dark that are far worse than monsters." She softly warned.
This gave everyone pause. Yet Carnardist would not allow them time to consider her words fully.
"Now get that hairy brute out of my shop!" she yelled, shooing them out the door.
----------------
"Arrggh, where is that toothbru-- Ahhhhh!" Krei stopped packing and let out a girly high-pitched scream when he came face-to-face with a towering beast with horns.
"Sorry to bother you Mr. Keri." Varian waved apologetically as he poked his head around from where he was standing behind the Krampus.
"But we kind of need to ask you a favor," Hiro added as he stuck his head around the opposite side.
Tadashi followed suit as his head popped up from behind the monster's shoulders. "Do you think you got room at that animal reserve for a very rare and exotic inter-dimensional demon?"
----------------
"Baby raccoons!" Honey Lemon squeed when Varian showed off his newest pets.
She giggled and cooed over the tiny creatures as she scooped one up to cuddle. "What are their names?"
"Well there's eight of them, so I thought we could all name one," Varian answered.
"You're seriously not thinking of keeping all of them," Wasabi complained.
"No, Krei is going to keep them on the forest reservation," Tadashi answered.
"But we get to visit them whenever we want." Varian cheered.
"Them and Mr Krampus," Fred added.
"Mr. Krampus?" Gogo asked.
"You had to be there," Hiro answered.
"I'm going to name mine Ferdinand." Honey Lemon announced. "He just looks like a Ferdie."
Gogo knelt down and gently petted one of the babies that was crawling around. "Jane." was all she said.
"The Pacific Northwest raccoon is also known as Procyon Lotor Pacificus" Baymax stated simply.
"Ummm... that might be a bit too wordy for a name, Baymax." Varian gently suggested. "Why don't you call him Lotor for short?"
"'Lotor' it is then."
"Can I call mine trash panda?" Hiro asked.
Varian made a face. "Come on... at least be original."
"Fine... "He randomly pointed to one of the unnamed critters. "That one is now Garbage Breath."
Varian rolled his eyes in defeat. "Okay, then we'll call her by her initials, GB."
Hiro gave a smug smile in approval, but still wouldn't go near the wild animal.
"I'm calling mine Menace." Wasabi huffed.
"That's a cool name." Fred obliviously agreed as he lifted up another raccoon and nuzzled its nose. "And this one can be The Mega Awesome Raccoon Killer, aka M.A.R.K."
"What about you Tadashi?" Honey Lemon asked.
Tadashi screwed up his face in thought. "I think I'll call mine... Rei.
"Did you really just name it that because it starts with an R?" Hiro asked deadpan.
"Yup," he proudly admitted.
"And I'm naming mine Hypatia!" He picked up the last cub, still ignoring the mother who hissed at him from under the 'den' made of a tarp and cardboard boxes. "Isn't she adorable?" He cooed as he scratched her ear.
Ruddiger then climbed upon his shoulder and licked his kit on the forehead; pet and owner shared a proud smile.

Klaus Goldstein Ch13 [12~16]
Tumblr media
so this option was presented… but is there enough time for these the time limit is 10 minutes, I don't think they'll have much time
Well the first option was rejected due to lack of time, and…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is fairly interesting information so they have to search here?
I didn't (or should I say couldn't) watch the third option, but it would've been rejected due to lack of time, just like the first one
Tumblr media
um… the time has come so they failed after all?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this will have a significant impact on the image of the academy sorry Remb… but it made people got curious it couldn't be help
oh, I know how to solve this we can use something called "money" this time I heard that if you put a lot of money in their pocket, you can somehow solve the problem
Tumblr media
well it happened in times like this, behave with confidence there's no use begging for leniency from him anyway, so just behave with confidence yeah you guys hid the book that thoroughly, so it made me want to see the contents more it's your fault for keeping security that tight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Translation: You were acting so fucking suspicious that I wanted to do some background research. Any complaints?
Tumblr media
Translation: You didn't tell us anything despite you told us to investigate, so we had to do some research on our own. Why didn't share the right amount of information at the right time? It's your fault anyway.
Tumblr media
no? I don't trust him I'm sure he's plotting something else nasty behind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ooh… why didn't share the right amount of information at the right time I'm not sure if that's real or a bluff, but in any case, based on the current situation, Thana was not the one who actually carried out the theft well… that taffy-like entity bothers me a bit though when is this thing going to show up
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he is… the culprit? no way that can't be possible why would he willingly be involved in such a bothersome thing? it's not like Zeus asked for it besides he was with Remb ask him, he could prove his innocence
Tumblr media
that's misunderstanding those fucking marks were also at the academy that's just circumstantial evidence are you sure he's the only one who can do the dimension rip? or are there any eyewitness accounts of him? you're just bring in it since there's no direct evidence
and I don't agree with that remark there must be a reason or basis for Hiro's ability like succession through blood relations, or getting some kind of item
Tumblr media
okay Hiro is not a culprit cause the Ministry is wrong once you go against the Ministry's opinion, you can get closer to the correct answer
but really, why didn't he refute it why isn't he putting up any resistance oi Hiro why tho
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so there is a technology that separates the soul from the body in this WH sekai interesting but is it possible to combine them again irreversible process, isn't it this is practically the death penalty, and he's throwing this without any discussion eeh…
Klaus insisted on hearing at least an explanation, but…
Tumblr media
I don't think he's the culprit though the evidence you present is not perfect but then again, what can I expect from a skull that doesn't even have a brain in it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ooh… Remb! finally someone came here to save them
Tumblr media
I said that, Remb could prove his innocence but why didn't Hiro say it first I myself accompanied the Headmaster on his visit to the Minister of Justice. This can be proven by him (or the Minister too). he could say like this, but why? is there any reason why he can't say anything
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yeah!! I said that admit your decision is wrong, you skull
Tumblr media
um…… I don't think so I'm sure there's something more behind it but well at least they got spared

PART TWO//PART THREE
Tumblr media
"I forgot to mention, I need to warn you, dude," Hanamaki speaks up as he passes the ball to Matsukawa, who continues peppering, but now there's a confused look on his face.
"Warn me about what?" he questions playfully, spiking a controlled ball to Makki.
"My cousin's coming into town, and she’s staying the whole summer." Makki's words show that he's annoyed, and Mattsun chuckles.
"Okay. Still doesn't tell explain why you had to warn me."
"She's crazy, man. And gets on my last nerve." Mattsun chuckles again at his best friend's opinion. He goes to respond, but a voice stops him before he can speak.
"Hiro!!" Hanamaki catches the ball as his head drops as he lets out a groan. Mattsun watches a figure run up behind Makki, and they wrap an arm around his shoulders, catching him off guard as his body falls forward slightly. "How's my favorite cuzzo doing, huh?"
"Was doing just fine until you came," he spits, and you laugh.
"Oh, come on, cuz, don't be like that. I know you love me deep down, don't fight it." You laugh again when he throws your arm off his shoulders, and your laugh stops when you land on the guy standing a few feet away from him. "Now, Hiro, why didn't you tell me that you had hot friends?"
Mattsun feels his face heat up at your sudden compliment as he lets out a choked laugh. You walk forward a bit as you start talking. "I'm l/n f/n, but I'm willing to change my last name to yours. Care to tell me what it is?"
You finish with a smirk, and you can help but feel more confident when he gives you a slow once over. "Ma--"
"None of your business," Makki cuts him off, and you roll your eyes as you turn to him.
"Oh, come on, man, don't be like that. I'm gonna find out anyway because I'm gonna be staying with you." His eyes widen at your statement as you smile widely at him. "Oh, you didn't hear? Our moms thought it was a good idea to let me stay with you. For the whole summer." You pause before saying the last sentence for dramatic effect, and your smile doesn't falter as Hanamaki's scowl gets deeper.
"You have to be fucking with me right now," he says, and you shake your head eagerly, knowing that he can't refuse.
"Nope. I'll go get my bags from the car." You bound over towards him, wrapping your arm around his shoulders before rubbing the top of his head with your fist. "This is going to be so much fun," you say excitedly, and he shoves you off of him.
You chuckle and start to walk off to your car, but not before you send a wink to the hot guy standing in front of you.
You bounce happily to your car, and Makki lets out a tired sigh as he fixes his hair, his face showing how pissed he is when he looks at Mattsun, making him chuckle. "She's...something."
Tumblr media
"ONE more game, alright?" Makki pleads, and Mattsun rolls his eyes but gives in.
"Fine." Mattsun's phone dings twice and he picks it up quickly before Makki can see the screen.
"Someone important?" he jokes, and Mattsun doesn't look him in the eye as he struggles to find an answer. "You gonna tell me who it is?" Mattsun gives him a look that tells it all, and Makki scoffs. "How'd she get your number?"
"From your phone obviously, Hiro," you bud in, your face right next to Makki's as he jumps away from you. "You know your phone password is really easy. You should change that."
"What did you do?" he asks, and you wave him off as you stand upright behind the couch.
"Oh, relax, just his number...and I sent a few selfies of you to myself." Makki scoffs again as he turns to look at you. "You know, to post for your birthday."
Makki releases an angry sigh as he stands, mumbling something about going to the bathroom, and you roll your eyes at his dramatics as you smile.
You glance at Mattsun, who's not looking your way, and a devilish smirk makes it way onto your face as an idea comes to your mind, your core pulsing at the idea of it.
"You know, Hiro always loved to collect movies," you say out loud, more to yourself, testing how he reacts.
"Yeah, it's gotten bigger since I've last seen it," he responds easily, and you hum as you walk around the couch, making your way towards the entertainment center around the TV full of movies.
"It's been a while since I've seen it, but it's definitely grown since then." When you get to the entertainment center, you bend over to look at the movies on the lower shelves when you hear Mattsun's breath hitch behind you.
You know that these are a shorter pair of your shorts, you must've put these in the dryer by accident, and you can feel that a good portion of your ass is out, and the fact that you know he's watching you, sends a jolt right down to your core.
You don't know what it is about this guy, but teasing him riles you so easily that you can feel your juices staining your shorts. You bend over a little further, and your smirk widens when you hear a muffled groan come from behind you.
When you hear footsteps coming from the hallway, you stand back up and turn around, the both of you keeping your eyes on each other as you walk towards the couch just as Makki is coming into the living room.
Makki sits where he was sitting, his attention still on his phone, and you walk to the back of the couch, leaning down next to Mattsun's ear, the one that Hiro can't see.
"If it wasn't obvious," you whisper just loud enough for him to hear, "that wet spot was for you." Your tongue darts out to touch his earlobe, pulling on it lightly with your teeth, chuckling softly when you see his hands grip the controller harder.
You stand up and start walking out of the living room. "Make sure you guys keep the noise down, 'kay?" you say as you disappear down the hallway.
Meanwhile, Mattsun's solely focusing on not getting a boner with his best friend right next to him. "She say something nasty to you?" Makki speaks up, making Mattsun jump.
"W-What?"
"Yeah, sorry about that. She's always saying some out of pocket shit." Makki clearly doesn't understand what kind of out of pocket statement you just said to him, and he clears his throat as he nods, thinking about anything but you as he tries to control himself.

TWO sounds come from behind you as you're sitting in the backyard. A sliding door and footsteps coming closer to you. "I'd knew you'd join me sooner or later."
He chuckles. "Yeah, well, I wanted to see what your definition of 'surprise' was."
You laugh lightly as you reveal your surprise without looking at Mattsun, the little plastic bag in your hand.
"Is that what I think it is?"
"Yep," you respond, popping the 'p' as you turn to him. "Found Hiro's secret stash. Wanted a smoke buddy. You down?"
You look back at him, and he shrugs saying fuck it as he sits in the lounge chair next to yours. You roll the first one, putting it in your mouth as you flick the lighter. You take the first drag, coughing a little as you blow out the smoke. "Damn. Should've known that Hiro had the strong stuff."
You pass it to Mattsun who does the same as you before passing it back to you. You both pass it back and forth two more times before you speak again. "You ever shotgunned before?" you ask, your brain already feeling like it's slowing down. He keeps his eyes on you as he shakes his head slowly.
"Wanna try?" He thinks about it for a second before nodding once. You clumsily find your way to get up without dropping the blunt and walk over to where he's sitting. You rest your free hand on his shoulder as you lift one leg, moving it to the other side of the chair as you straddle him.
You bite your lip as you sit on his lap, feeling him through the thin material of both of your shorts. His hands find purchase on your waist, his fingers rubbing on the exposed skin under your crop top.
You keep your eyes on his as you pull from the blunt, and your other hand finds the back of his head, your fingers threading through his hair as you bring his head closer, your lips dangerously close to touching.
You breathe out, both of you watching the smoke go from your mouth to his. You watch as he breathes in then tilts his head up to breathe the smoke out. He blinks slowly as he tilts his head back down, both of you maintaining eye contact as he grabs the blunt out of your hand.
You watch as he takes a hit, and one of his hands runs up your back to grab at your neck, a shiver running through your spine the opposite way. He pulls your head down, lips brushing against each other as he exhales into your mouth.
You inhale deeply, lifting your head as you breathe the smoke out. You look back down, keeping your head in the same position, making your lips touch again. "I noticed that you sometimes sleep on the couch," you speak up, your lips keeping close contact, you're almost kissing him.
"Well, the bed I usually sleep in is taken," he quips back, and you lean into his ear.
"You could always join me. I don't bite," you whisper, and you roll your hips forward, and you don't miss the way he releases a shaky breath in your ear, the sound going south easily. "Whaddya say?"
Tumblr media
"THREE scoops of ice cream should be enough," you say to yourself as you put the top back on the ice cream container, placing it in the freezer.
You grab a spoon from one of the drawers and find a seat at the island in the kitchen. You're halfway through your ice cream when you hear footsteps coming into the kitchen. "Who eats ice cream at three in the morning?"
You smile at the question as you dig into your ice cream. "Me. What about it?" The owner of the voice walks into your view, standing on the other side of the island. "I didn't wake you, did I?"
He shakes his head. "Nah, I couldn't go to sleep anyway," Mattsun answers honestly. He hasn't been able to sleep well every time he's over here. You suddenly filling up every one of his desires. But one day, he's going to get back at you. The more you tease him, the more he gets riled up.
"Want some?" you ask, sticking the spoon in your mouth and dragging it out slowly, his eyes never leaving your mouth. He nods silently, and you put some ice cream on the spoon, moving the spoon towards his mouth.
He grabs your hand, moving the spoon towards his mouth, his eyes never leaving yours. He slowly pulls the spoon out of his mouth, letting go of your hand. "Tastes really good." He stands up, leaning over the counter. "And you've got some," he reaches his hand out, his thumb gliding over your bottom lip. "Right there."
He puts his thumb in his mouth, licking it clean before he smirks at you. Two can play at this game.
You grab his hand, leading it over top of your bowl. "And you've got some," you dip his finger into some of the melted ice cream. "Right there."
You coat it in the creamy liquid before lifting it up to your mouth. Staring right at him, you put the digit in your mouth, tongue flicking all around it, making sure you get all of it off.
He lets out a garbled 'fuck' and you pop the finger out of your mouth, giving him a proud smirk.

"FOUR pancakes? You're gonna eat four pancakes at once?" Mattsun asks his pink-haired friend as said friend stacks them on his plate.
"Yeah, I am," he deadpans, "and you better go wake Y/N up or else she's not getting anything." Makki takes the plate, walking out of the kitchen as Mattsun takes a deep breath as he walks to your room.
He knocks on the door, and when he doesn't get a response, he cracks open the door to see you on your stomach, covers sprawled out everywhere. He lets out a small huff as he smiles, walking towards your sleeping figure.
He can't help it, and the first thing he does is rake his eyes down your body, one leg bent at the knee, the other one straightened out. Your shorts have come up in your sleep, your butt on display, and Mattsun diverts his eyes as he calls your name.
You don't respond, and he leans down to shake you gently. You turn your head, and he can see that your eyes are still closed. "Y/N." He says your name a little louder, shaking you a little harder.
You stir and your eyes open slightly, a sleepy smile coming onto your face when they land on him. "Hey, Issei." You take a deep breath, and Matsukawa ignores the way your sleepy voice saying his name makes him feel. "What's up?"
Your legs switch positions, making your ass shake from the movement, and he wills himself not to look. "Makki made pancakes," is all he can manage to get out, and you roll over on your side to stretch, but that doesn't make things better for Mattsun. Your boobs falling out of the sleep bra you're wearing.
He looks away, willing the thoughts to go away as you stand up, fixing your clothes as you yawn. "You're not gonna put a shirt on?" he asks as you head for the door, and you wave him off.
"Nah, it's too hot. And you like the view too, so..." You trail off, walking out the room as Matsukawa's face turns red.
He takes another deep breath as he follows after you, and you've already made a plate. "Jeez, Y/N, couldn't you put some clothes on?" Hiro complains from his place on the couch and you shrug.
"Well, when you stop turning off the air conditioning during the hottest day of the summer, I would have some clothes on." You pour syrup over your pancakes, and when you see Mattsun watching you, you slide out of your cousin's view.
You put the syrup down before dipping your fingers in the pile of syrup that dripped down from the pancakes onto your plate. You coat them in syrup, lifting your fingers up in front of your mouth, spreading them apart watching the strings connect your fingers.
You look right at him as you stick your fingers in your mouth, and as much as he needs to, he can't look away, and he's teetering on the edge of a dangerous cliff. You see his fists clench as he pushes his lower half into the island.
You pull your fingers out when they're clean, and you walk towards him, setting the bottle of syrup next to his plate. "Seems like you've got a problem there. Let me know if I can help." You walk out, sending him a wink over your shoulder, and he waits until you're out of view to slam his head onto the counter.
Tumblr media
"FIVE minutes until what?" Makki asks into his phone, and you see his face drop before he slaps a palm on his forehead. "Shit, that's today? Okay okay, relax, I'll be there in like fifteen." He hangs up the phone, and you watch as he runs into his room, and when he comes out, he dressed a little more formally.
"Wow, who are you getting all dressed up for?" you ask, spreading out on the couch.
"I forgot about this thing my friend wanted me to attend to." He makes sure he has everything before booking it to the door, but not before he turns to you. "Y/N, please behave."
You roll your eyes. "Sure thing, Dad. Have fun." And he leaves.
You lay down on your back on the couch, humming a tune to a song you can't bring yourself to remember the name of when you hear Mattsun walk in. He's shirtless and you assume he just took a shower because he has a towel resting around his neck.
"Did Makki just leave?" he asks you, standing behind the couch, and you nod.
"Yeah, had to do something for a friend. Probably won't be back for a few hours." You put one arm behind your head, the other resting on your stomach as you shift a little, making yourself a little bit more comfortable.
Mattsun's eyes drag down your body, and you feel your body ignite under his gaze. You watch as he walks around the couch, standing where he's looming over you. "Need something?" you ask, and there's a different look in his eyes.
"Stand up." His voice is deeper, darker than it usually is, but you don't move. "I won't tell you again." You don't admit that this new sounding voice makes your core beat in excitement, but you stand anyway, standing right in front of him.
He gives you a smirk that nearly makes your knees go weak, and he steps beside you, taking the towel from around his neck and spreading it out over the couch. You raise an eyebrow, and when he turns around, you go to speak, but he wraps his hand around the back of your neck, crashing his lips onto yours.
You squeak in surprise, but it's easily swallowed as Mattsun kisses your mouth hungrily. His other hand palms your ass, gripping it tightly as he pulls you flush against him. When you gasp, he shoves his tongue in your mouth as your hands find their way onto his broad shoulders.
He breaks the kiss, and it takes you a while to come back to your senses, your head dizzy with lust as you catch your breath. "I don't think you can take it," he says into your neck as he starts planting hot, open mouth kisses, stopping at the bottom of your neck, grabbing the skin there with his teeth, making you hiss.
"T-Take, what?" Your brain is barely keeping up with his words, only focused on what his mouth is doing. You hear him chuckle against your skin as he moves to the other side of your neck, both of his hands now on your ass, and he presses you against him even more, and you can feel his erection digging into your thigh as you let out a quiet moan.
"This dick," he tells you bluntly, and he lifts his head up. Now that he's not on your neck, your head is a little clearer, and you chuckle softly as you raise an eyebrow at him.
"Oh? Confident in your skills I see." You start to drag a hand down his ridiculously toned torso as you start talking. "I've never been one to back down from a challenge." You feel your mouth drop open when you feel how big it is, and Mattsun huffs at you.
"You sure? You don't sound very convincing." You erase the initial look of surprise on your face, replacing it with a confident smirk, making him raise his eyebrows at you. Before you can say anything else, he's spinning the both of you around, pushing you so you're sitting on the couch, the obvious tent in his shorts in your eye line.
You rake your eyes done his naked upper half, eyes zeroing in on the happy trail that disappears into his shorts. He shoves his shorts down his legs, his cock flinging up, hitting his stomach, and your eyes widen when you see his size. He's huge. He's bigger than anyone you've taken, and at your reaction, he smiles. "I thought you don't back down from a challenge?" he picks at you, and lick your bottom lip as you smirk.
You lean forward, taking him in your hand, and you can feel how heavy he is as you guide him towards your mouth, tracing a thick vein with your tongue up the side of his length. You hear let out a deep sigh before you take him into your mouth, and you don't even have him halfway in when you feel your gag reflex surfacing. You try to use your hand on the rest of him that's not in your mouth, but he pushes your hand away.
"Nuh-uh. You can be a big girl and use your mouth," he tells you, and you start to sink further down. "Fuck," he whispers harshly, and his hand finds its way to your hair, and you close your eyes as his grip tightens. He starts to push your head further down his length until your nose is brushing those soft curls. "Shit, your mouth is good for something other than being a tease, who knew?"
He starts thrusting into your mouth, and you relax your jaw as you breathe through your nose, your hands digging into the thick flesh of his thighs, and he hisses at the feeling. The noises he's making are making you even more aroused, and one of your hands leaves his thigh to try to give you some release, but he stops you once again. "Don't you fucking touch yourself. Do it, and you won't, fuck, won't get to cum at all. Shit." You attempt to whimper around his length, the vibration sending a chill down his spine as he feels himself getting closer.
The rhythm of his thrusts starts to become sloppy, and you bring a hand up to tug at his balls, and that sends him over the edge. He cums with a loud groan of your name, you swallowing every last drop before he lets go of your hair, and you fall back against the couch as you catch your breath. He wobbles a little bit as he takes in your disheveled features, drool and tears running down your face, and he feels himself getting hard again.
He pulls you up from the couch, sitting in your spot before pulling you back down on his lap. Your shirt and sports bra are taken off quickly, and he attacks your chest making you cry out in pleasure as your hands grip his hair. His mouth is sucking and biting at one nipple while his hand is stimulating the other and then he alternates.
"Shit, Issei, fuck, please." Your words have no thoughts behind them, your brain no longer operating, and you push him away from you before you stand up, shedding your shorts and sitting back down on his lip, a breathy moan escaping your lips when you feel his dick brush your folds.
He watches your reaction when he lightly drags his fingers back and forth across your folds, and you whine as you grip at his shoulders. "Please don't tease, Issei, c'mon," you beg, and your eyes look at him when you hear him laugh.
"Oh, now you don't like teasing? Maybe I should just keep teasing you and not give you what you want," he proposes, and you shake your head as you rub against his fingers, trying to get some release. He looks down, seeing your folds shining with your juices, a huge strand falling onto his fingers and he holds back a moan. "You're soaked, Y/N, all this for me?" he questions, and you nod your head vigorously.
"Yes, Issei, it's all for you, just please touch me," you plead and he shoves two fingers inside your pussy, making you release a loud moan as you lean your head in the crook of his neck. You can hear the squelching sounds as he fingers you, and you dig your nails into his shoulders as you feel him stretch you out on his thick fingers. "Issei," you start, but a loud smack echoes through the room, and you let out a whine as you feel your ass cheek sting.
"That's not my name, sweet girl. I think I've let you get away with it for long enough, don't you think?" he whispers in your ear and his voice sends a tingle right down to your core, making you clench around him. "Come on, baby, you know what it is." He stops moving his fingers, and you whimper against his neck, trying to move, but his grip on your hip keeps you still. "Say it, pretty girl."
"Daddy, please, don't stop," you sigh out, and you can feel him smile in satisfaction as he continues his fast pace, and you cry into his neck at the sudden movement. "Please, oh, please."
"It's okay, tell Daddy what you want," he coos, and he pushes onto your clit with his thumb, and you arch into him, his fingers a stark contrast to his other hand that's rubbing soothing circles on your hip.
"I need--" You cut yourself off with a scream when he pushes against that spongy spot inside of you.
"Tell Daddy what you need, baby."
"I need you inside me, please." He adds another finger, and you grip his wrist as he curls his fingers inside of you, nailing your g-spot with ease.
"I don't know if you deserve all of that," he responds, and you whimper as you lift your head to look at him. "If I recall, you've been nothing but a tease, no?" You shake your head immediately as you try to move your hips again but failing, his grip still strong on your hip.
"Please, Daddy, I'll be a good girl, just please, I need you so bad." You're so desperate, and that gives Mattsun a thrill; seeing someone who usually knows just what to say to him, reduced to nothing but a begging mess on top of him.
"Well, since you're begging so nicely," he approves, removing his fingers, and you lift your hips up eagerly as you look down, seeing that he's fully hard again, the tip leaking precum. He guides his shaft into you, and you let your head fall back as you feel him stretching you open the best way possible. He groans as he feels your walls tightening around him, and you look down to see that he's still not all the way in, your legs starting to burn from the position you're in.
"Come on, baby, just a little bit more for me. Can you do that for Daddy?" he purrs, soothingly caressing your thighs, and you rest your head against his as you watch the last of him disappear inside of you. "Holy shit, you feel so good. Goddamn, baby," he sighs out, letting you adjust. "I'm gonna move, okay?"
You nod quickly, and you brace yourself as you feel him lift you up before slamming you back down, making you cry out, the head of his cock hitting that spot inside of you. He kisses you roughly, swallowing all of the noises you make as he continues to ram himself inside of you. You pull away as you feel the knot in your stomach starting to tighten.
"I'm close, ah, please don't stop," you cry out, and you feel his fingers digging into your hips, you're sure that there's going to be bruising. "Right there, please, Daddy, right there."
"I got you, baby girl, I got you." His finger finds its way to your clit, rubbing harsh, fast circles, and your orgasm snaps, making your arch your back and scream his name. The sight of your coming undone in front of him and the way your clenching around him, makes his orgasm crash into him right after you. "Fuck!" He fucks you through both of your highs, stopping when you whine at the sensitivity.
You lean forward, body going limp as you catch your breath, both of your bodies covered in a layer of sweat. "You know I'm not done with you yet," he tells you, and you don't get a moment to respond before he's lifting you off of him, and you land on your stomach with a soft thud. He brings your hips up, your back arching instinctively, and he groans at the sight of you.
He prods a finger at your hole, and you whine, trying to move away from his touch, but his grip on you makes it useless. He runs his hands over your ass, squeezing the globes in each hand. "This ass has been teasing me ever since you got here." He spreads your cheeks, getting a good look at your puffy, swollen hole.
"I know it has, it was fun to see you flustered," you respond, your words muffled by the couch, but still clear to Mattsun, and he smiles mischievously as he lifts a hand up, smacking your ass, and he watches it jiggle, the sight mesmerizing as you mewl at the sudden pain.
"That's for bending over in front of me." He smacks the other cheek. "That's for grinding on me." Another smack. "That's for the ice cream." You can feel the heat coming off your ass when he smacks it for a fourth time. "That's for the syrup." You can tell that he's loving this, but you can't say that you aren't, you just hope he doesn't see that. He does it again, and you hiss at the pain, but the pleasure wins out. "That's for walking around here practically naked."
He massages the heated mounds of flesh, and you know he's found you out when you feel him spread them followed by a cocky laugh. "You liked that a lot, huh?" He toys at your hole again, watching your juices gush out, and you wiggle your hips a little. He sticks his fingers in, pulling it out with his fingers covered in your slick, and he groans when he puts them in his mouth. "Fuck, you taste good."
"Are you gonna fuck me or what?" you snap, and you hear him chuckle as he runs his the head of his length across your folds to your hole.
"Now, is that any way to talk to your Daddy? I thought you were gonna be a good girl?" he taunts as he teases your hole, and you exhale forcefully as you give in.
"I'm sorry, Daddy. Please fuck me," you say, and he smiles as you feel him start to push into your hole.
"You're gonna be a good girl? No more being a brat?" he asks, and if you could, you would stomp your foot because he's dragging this out.
"I promise, Daddy. I'll be good." Liking the sound of your answer, he lines himself up, hands resting on your hips, and you scream when he rams into you, your body still sensitive from the first earth-shattering orgasm you had. He doesn't give you time to recuperate as he rears back, slamming into you again, keeping a relentless pace that hits your spot with accuracy.
Mattsun watches your ass shake with the impact, and you both can hear his balls slapping against you as you feel your orgasm approaching quickly. He pulls you up by your hair, pulling your back flush against his, keeping his persistent pace. You share a sloppy kiss as his hands come up to play with your nipples, and you whimper into his mouth, and he groans when you clench around him.
"You gonna cum? Huh?" he sucks on your tongue as he brings a hand down to your stomach, and he brings your hand up to your stomach, and you can feel the bulge which makes you release a broken moan. "Who's making you feel this good?"
"Y-You are, Daddy," you barely manage to answer, and he slides his hand down until he's pressing onto your clit, making the knot in your stomach come closer to snapping.
"You wanna come on Daddy's cock? Huh?" he asks, and you nod easily, your hands finding their way into his hair. "Then do it," he spits. "Cum on Daddy's cock like the filthy slut you are." He gives a firm push on your clit, and that coil snaps hard, your eyes screwing as you scream out his name, your back arching as your hands clamp down on his hair.
He keeps bucking into you, your pussy almost stopping him from moving from how hard you're clamping down on him. "Shit, fuck," he swears, his thrusts losing rhythm and getting sloppy. The last time you clamp down on him, makes him see stars as he cums hard, painting your walls white before you both collapse on the couch, heaving breaths coming from the both of you.
He wraps his arms around you as he turns you both over, keeping himself still sheathed inside of you. "Holy shit. That was, oh, my God," Mattsun comments, and you laugh tiredly as you smile, your eyes starting to close.
You're about to drift off when you hear the door slam. "What the fuck?!" You and Mattsun both freeze, your gaze slowly drifting to the door to see a very confused and pissed Makki standing at the door. Mattsun quickly grabs the blanket draped over the back of the couch, putting it over the two of you.
"It's, uh, it's not what it looks like," you try, and Makki just blinks at you.
"Man, I wish I could say I'm sorry, but I'm really, really not," Mattsun speaks up, and you cover your smile with your hand as you hold back your laugh.
"Love you, too--" Your words are cut off by Makki leaving and slamming the door behind him. You and Mattsun both laugh for a bit before you finally quiet down. "He's so going to kick me out," you say, and you hear Mattsun chuckle against your neck.
"Well, if he does, there's always my place."

BONUS:
Mattsun rubs your shoulders as you lean back against him, the warm water soothing the ache in your muscles, mostly your legs and backside. He had brought you water and a tray of fruit before getting in the tub behind you, fatigue catching up to you as you relax against him. "I was serious about the chance of Hiro kicking me out," you joke quietly as you cuddle further into his wide frame.
He laughs softly as he runs a finger up and down your arm. "And I was serious about you staying at my place. You're not getting away that easily." He looks down at you, and you smile widely as you lean up to kiss him, him meeting you halfway. "Makki might not talk to me for a while though," he speaks up after he separates his lips from you, and you snort as you snuggle back into his chest.
"Ah, he'll be fine."

please,,, Hagakure-Ishimaru family sitcom hcs if you have any left,,, they’re so good and sjdjcijdjdjciejf you characterize them so well
Hgggh sorry I'm late I had school stuff to do
Mondo likes,,,, soft textures,,, especially fur/hair. I think that's basically canon, considering how he had a maltese, the first positive thing he says about cats in school mode is that they're fluffier than dogs, and one of his favorite presents is the chinchilla fur seat cover (animals with famously ultra-soft fur). How does that relate to the au, specifically? Well, firstly, whenever the holidays roll around at least one person in the fam gets him a very soft stuffed animal. He grumbles about this endlessly but he will bring it home and put it on his bed, he ain't slick. Second, he starts petting Taka's hair bc since it's very short and he washes it regularly it has a nice plush texture. Doing something with his hands helps him settle down when he's worked up.
The Hagakure-Ishimaru bathroom is overrun with hairspray bottles from the Diamond Brothers staying over and constantly forgetting that they have hairspray already there and it drives the Ishimarus bananas because it's like a hydra, you throw one away and two more pop up in its place
They don't have a swear jar, but instead a "shouting jar." It started because the adults with their high stress jobs would come home with killer headaches and that was a way to mitigate the damage, but it turns into a joke pretty quickly. It comes to be known as the "Taka Tax" because he is the largest contributor by a country mile. He constantly argues for its abolishment and only wins after one day Takaaki catches Hiro pass by the jar, dip his hand in, grab some cash and bolt.
I've already talked about how Hiro comforts Daiya, but sometimes when Hiro is hit with a really nasty vision and is having a rough time dealing with it Daiya helps ground him, hugging him tight to remind him that they're in the here and now and that it's alright. When he's up for it he'll ask what he saw and coolly logics out with him why it's an unlikely possibility.
Family game night, they play Uno. Hiro tries to soothsay what cards people are gonna put down. Taka growls whenever the card he has to follow up screws with his mental schematics of how his turn will go. Hiroko has a great poker face and will put down a draw 4 with a nonchalant smile on her face. Takaaki always forgets to say uno, it comes back to him and his brain goes on autopilot and he picks another card.
Yasuhiro: (holding up pack of dog treats) Dad, look! It's the Good Kush™! Takaaki, completely deadpan: This is the Dollar Store, how good can it be?
Family road trip/long car ride where they're listening to Yasuhiro's weirdcore playlist and Two Trucks comes on and he's run out of skips so he just has to wait it out
Hiro is canonically a gamer so when Taka talks about his pop culture "studying" he tries to play games with him like a good big brother, but Taka discovers he prefers to watch Hiro play instead. The transition to younger sibling is complete.

I wasn't online much yesterday and didn't write anything for Valentine's day. Bad me. So how about some headcanons a day late? Yeah cool!
********************************
• Leon has always LOVED Valentine's day. He's gotten a mountain of chocolate since he switched up his appearance and has always managed to nab himself a girlfriend out of it.
• Taka, on the other hand, HATES Valentine's day. Not only is it an excuse for people to partake in PDA everywhere he looks, he has never gotten any chocolate himself.
• Of course, the second point doesn't matter to him. It's just an observation. Right?
• Well. When Leon finds this out, he's mortified.
• As are Mondo and Chi, who Taka's discussing it with. Leon simply pretends to be chatting with Hiro when he hears it.
• 'I've never seen the point of Valentine's day.'
• 'But chocolate, bro! Girls get ya chocolate!'
• 'Maybe they do for you, but no one has ever given me chocolate.'
•'What?!'
• 'Well why would they? I'm obnoxious, loud, uncool. Not to mention I'm unattractive. Why would anyone want to get someone like me any chocolates?'
• Now Taka and Leon aren't together at this point, and Taka hasn't figured out his feelings for Leon.
• But Leon has. And hearing that makes his heart ache in a way he's never felt before.
• So as Mondo reprimands Taka for being so negative and Chi promises to buy him 'friendship chocolates', Leon concocts his plan.
• After school that day, which is the day before Valentine's day, Leon heads into the city to search for chocolate.
• All the big shops have run out though, unsurprisingly and frustratingly, and Leon's starting to lose hope.
• Until he spots a tiny little shop on the corner. A little homemade chocolate shop that seems quiet.
• And inside there are SO many options that Leon can hardly choose.
• After about 20 minutes of searching, with a little guidance from the lovely shop lady, Leon chooses a heart shaped box full of different flavoured heart shaped chocolates.
• He rushes back to the school, managing to avoid Taka as he makes his way to the library to print off his label.
• He's not going to handwrite the thing! Taka knows EVERYONE's handwriting so it would TOTALLY give him away!
• Back in his room, he decorates the box as delicately as he can - which is actually pretty impressive considering he's never done this before - and sticks his label on top.
• Perfect. Step one done.
• Step two is more difficult - getting to class and then getting out of there BEFORE Taka does.
• And unsurprisingly, he doesn't manage it. By the time his alarm has gone off and he steps out of his room, he can see Taka in the hallway heading towards class.
• Okay - plan B.
• He waits for Taka to head to class before breaking into his locker and shoving the chocolate inside.
• Not perfect, but it'll have to do.
• When he heads to class, he can see that Taka has been given a whole bunch of friendship chocolates by the girls. The boy is smiling ear to ear, thanking everyone for their kindness.
• But Leon knows, as he sifts idly through the chocolate on his desk, that there's an even better surprise waiting for him.
• After class, they all head to the lockers together. Leon hangs back just a little with Hiro, so its not obvious, and watches as Taka opens his locker.
• Taka's mid sentence when he stops abruptly, eyes landing on the box of chocolates in his locker. His first instinct is that someone has broken the rules and that this is just a nasty prank.
• But he lifts the box out and sees the label, reading it out loud when asked what's wrong.
• 'Taka - you are passionate, determined, funny, clever. Your smile always lights up the room and your laugh is like music to my ears. Never forget just how amazing you are because to me, you are so, SO beautiful. Yours always - your secret admirer.'
• Now this could totally backfire, Leon suddenly realises as Mondo braces himself ready to threaten whoever it was that did this. It could be seen as a cruel prank, which was NOT what he intended at all...
• The whole room has gone quiet, everyone seeming to hold their breath as Taka turns around slowly.
• As Taka's eyes slowly creep up to meet Mondo's, his eyes fill up with tears and a huge, wet smile bursts onto his face.
• 'Someone thinks I'm beautiful!'
• All at once, the tension is gone as everyone crowds around to congratulate Taka on his very first Valentine's chocolate.
• And Leon, loudly joining in, feels his heart swell at the happiness radiating from the most beautiful boy he's ever kmkwn.
• (Bonus scene - when Leon openly rocks up with an almost identical box the next year, after they've been together for around half a year, Taka finally twigs that Leon was his secret admirer all along. And screw the rules. Taka engages in PDA for the first time, kissing his boyfriend enthusiastically, and wetly, in front of the entire class.)

Fruits Basket - Vol 22
The snowball that has been tumbling down a hill for these last several books is finally rolling to a halt. I wonder how Akito feels about it. Surely she's not gonna become upset.
Today we arrive with Kyo to Kyo's house, after being told by Hanajima that there's something he needs to do before he can see Tohru. He needs to talk to his dad, and it's gonna be the first time in a long time that he's done it. He's nervous as all hell, he feels nauseous just standing at the front door, but he still follows through. The second his father sees him, he's already in a rage. He yells at the servant(?) who let Kyo in, then zeroes straight on Kyo after Kyo asks why he's home in the first place, it's the middle of the workday, isn't it?
Kyo's father (he never gets a name, as far as I can tell) says that he wasn't feeling well, and it's Kyo's fault because,,, his mom died. Yup, makes sense. After all this time, Kyo's father still rants and raves and insists that it was Kyo's fault that his mother died, and Kyo says, "Yeah, I know it is." Kyo's father starts cackling, asking the servant if she also heard Kyo saying that, then asking for someone to call up the main Sohma house, to get Kyo and throw him in the dungeon (it's not actually a dungeon but I'll always think of it like that), but Kyo says he won't go there. He won't even step foot in that room, because he's going to live outside, because he met someone and he really cares about her, and he wants to be around her for the rest of his life. Naturally, Kyo's father rejects that, saying that there's no way the family would allow that, there's no way that Kyo can go off and try to have a normal life after "what he did", throwing his family into shame by being born (because he totally chose to be the cat, this is common knowledge), and he asks why Kyo's mother had to give birth to Kyo in the first place, which makes Kyo freeze up. He's heard that phrase before, when he was a kid. He hadn't realized it before, but after hearing his father say it, he realizes that it was his father that said it to his mother, "Why did you have to give birth to such a child?". Right in front of said child, by the way. Clearly the man did not and does not care. Kyo asks his father if he was the one who said it, which makes Kyo's father lash out again, how dare Kyo insinuate that he (Kyo's father) is the reason that Kyo's mother (why did neither of these people get a name ;-;) committed suicide, there's no way it's his fault, there was never anything he said or did that would make her do that, obviously, how could Kyo even vaguely say something that could be construed as such, and clearly it is not his fault but Kyo's! It has to be Kyo's fault, it simply has to!
Probably during all that screaming, Kyo thinks about how much he wishes his mom was happy, that she had never felt the way she did that led to her suicide. As a kid, it was difficult for him to understand, but now he does, not that it makes much of a difference. Whether he understood or not, she's still gone.
Finally, Kyo pushes his father away, saying that he won't give up on himself, and that he wants to make the most of his life while he still has it. His father again objects, and tries to grab Kyo, who deflects pretty easily (whoa it's almost like he's been trained for most of his life for scenarios vaguely similar to this) and his father just starts screaming that Kyo is going to kill him. You know what Kyo is doing? He's just pushing away his father's hand. That's it. His father is still screaming bloody murder (which is what he seems to think is gonna happen to him) when the scene jumps to Akito talking to one of the head maids, talking about Kyo, about if they should get someone to take him away, but Akito says that she wants that place destroyed. The maid asks if she thinks Kyo's father will approve, but Akito basically says, "It doesn't matter what he approves, I've decided it will be destroyed." After that, the maid notes that Akito has changed, and that she liked Akito before, but Akito doesn't care. Change, don't change, she'll be trying to progress and move on, even if some people around her object to it. Generally, there seems to be a lot of introspective going on for both of them.
Then we change to see Hiro and Kisa, who is reassuring Hiro that it's not a bad thing that his curse broke, and that no one is going to hate him because of it. If anything, she's happy for him, and is glad that he told her first, out of anyone else. Hiro asks if Kisa hates him now that he isn't part of the Juunishi anymore, and she asks him if he thinks of her any different because she still is. Midway through reassuring Kisa that that wasn't the case, Kyo announces his presence by vomiting behind some bushes. Hiro exclaims how gross that was (I'm not putting that against him, he has no way of really knowing (or understanding) why Kyo did that), and Kisa offers Kyo a tissue, and Kyo straight up basically hallucinates seeing Tohru. (Dang,, he's really affected by all this. He's, if you don't mind me saying this, down bad. Really bad.)
Kyo tries to visit Tohru again, but Hanajima and Uotani block his way completely. I would go into why but I've already said it, but one thing that does happen is that Hanajima and Uotani run into or meet (or something) Akito, who tells them that she's the reason that Tohru had those cuts, and kinda why she got hurt in the first place. She's also the reason why Kureno is in the hospital. Naturally, Akito is very ashamed of this, but surprisingly, Uotani and Hanajima are pretty cool about it. Hanajima tells Akito that Tohru isn't blaming anyone for the incident, so it's better if Akito not beat herself up so much over it, because it definitely won't make Tohru feel any better. As Akito was admitting what she'd done to Kureno, Hanajima straight up asked her if she was a girl, and when Akito didn't say no, suddenly things clicked into place: when Kureno was talking about having to stay by the side of a girl, Akito was that girl. This realization seems to mostly be on Uotani's side, who is also thinking about how much Kureno really means to her. I mean, she interacted with him a handful of times, and that was a while ago. She doesn't really know much about him, only that he seems to have a similar demeanor to Tohru, that sort of blind kindness kinda thing.
Uotani later goes to talk to Kureno, and he says that, to help Akito move on, he needs to leave, go far away. Uotani offers to go with him (after graduation and stuff), because she luh-luh-likes him (she refuses to say it), so that's nice.
Meanwhile, (more like after? Idk, timey wimey stuff) Kyo is heading to Kazuma's house, and he sees Akito walking out the front gate. Huh? What the fuck is Akito doing there? Kyo goes to confront Akito, but all she says is that he can live whatever life he wants to, and she refuses to clarify. Right before the bickering can start, who but Hanajima opens the front gate, asking if Akito is really leaving so soon? (She even uses a nickname, which Akito isn't the biggest fan of) Naturally, that freaks out Kyo. What is that girl doing here? Is she friends with Akito? How did that happen? When did that happen? Then Kazuma pops up, and Hanajima again acts familiar and friendly with him?! How does she do that that's so fucking weird!
Kazuma tells Kyo that he knows that Kyo went to talk to his dad, and that Akito knows as well. He also says that Akito plans for that dungeon room to be destroyed which is nice. Kazuma says that fixing relations between the main house or his personal family won't be so easy, but it was a nice start.
Jumping ahead a little, it seems that Akito has called all of the Juunishi (even Kyo, and we all know how rare that is) to the main Sohma house. She has something that she needs to tell them, and they have no guesses. Haru says that Akito seems to have changed since the whole incident with Tohru and stuff, which is a welcome change, even if it's still strange and confusing. (Personally, in that situation I would definitely have bated breath, because when there's a person that usually is disagreeable at best suddenly changes to being nice, all I can ever do is just wait for them to go back to being nasty. I just can't trust it when people switch like that, it's eerie)
Yuki then tells Kyo that Tohru's getting out of the hospital soon, which causes Kyo to speed off to Hanajima and Uotani, asking if now he can finally see Tohru. They say, "yeah, yeah," then ask him what outfits (because they're paging through a magazine) would look best on Tohru. Kyo has no fucking idea, Tohru could probably wear anything and he'd be fine with it.
Meanwhile, it seems that Yuki has some jealousy(?) concerning Tohru and Kyo. It's mostly because both parties know about the whole zodiac thing, but between him and Machi, that's not the case. There's a considerable risk that the secret came out, or that he tells Machi, and she finds it too weird and she breaks off any little relationship that is starting to grow between them. It'd probably just drop back to acquaintances, or worse: awkward acquaintances, where everyone asks what happened, weren't you guys close? Ugh. That sounds terrible.
So anyway, Yuki's busy worrying about that, it's a whole thing. I think he kinda tries to tell Machi at some point, but Kimi busts in asking about her hairbrush. And though he doesn't succeed in telling Machi, he knows that he has to, because this is a pretty big thing to hide from someone. It's probably difficult and straining to be a couple and you refuse to let your partner be physically close to you without ever telling them why. (Just panic and say that you have an allergy to human skin and admit that you're in complete misery because of it, it's fine, nbd)
The scene switches to Akito talking to Shigure, telling him that she's going to end the whole Juunishi thing. She's tired of all of it at this point, of people treating her the way they do because she's "God". She says that everyone (though I suppose in this scene she's saying this to Shigure specifically) will be released from her, that everyone can go and do whatever they want to do. Shigure says that if that's the case, then he'll be relieved. (I know he's teasing and all, but like, dude, can you maybe not right now?) He gives her a "farewell gift", which she looks fairly distraught about, but we won't see what it is yet, because now I have to describe Kyo's general panick over seeing Tohru again.
So yeah, the day that Tohru is released from the hospital, somehow Kyo almost seemed to forget about it until Yuki brought it up. Yuki wouldn't be going along though, because he has something else to do.
On the way to the hospital, Kyo's just rethinking all the stuff that he's said and that has been said to him throughout this whole thing. Yuki told him to just act normal, the fuck even is normal now? How does he do that? Will Tohru forgive him? What even does he like about Tohru? Does he still like her? What does he like about her? How much about that thing does he like? He has no fucking idea, how does he even talk to her? Then he sees her, none of that shit matters. The only thing that does matter is that he loves her goddammit.
Unfortunately for that romantic moment, the second Tohru sees Kyo, she dashes off. He gives chase after a moment of "oh jeez ;-;".
The perspective shifts to Tohru. She apparently didn't mean to run, her feet just went on their own. It isn't what she meant to do, she did want to see Kyo again, but who has control over their bodies in highly emotional moments anyway? She told herself that when she next saw him, she was going to smile. She practiced doing so, or that what she thought anyway. There's a moment where we see Yuki talking to Tohru while she's still bedridden, and when he tries (very hesitantly) to bring up Kyo, she changes the topic pretty quickly, along with crying literally at his name. It hurts her so much to hear it. She thinks that she's a burden by being unable to let go of everyone. She thinks she needs to move from Kyo after what he said, but she just can't. She meant what she said that she would stay by Kyo's side, even if it turns out he doesn't like her. She tried to not let it bother her, but clearly that didn't happen.
Finally, Kyo catches up to her (a second time, she pushed him away twice in that fantastic emotional upheaval), and she's crying. She's desperately trying to stop, she doesn't want to be a burden, she doesn't want him to hate her, stop crying! He takes her hand, and apologizes for all his bs. He says that he was only thinking about himself, about his own regrets. He ignored her feelings, and he says that he should've known better: the world doesn't give second chances, but he's taking this chance to try to apologize. He then says those magic words that Tohru did not think he'd say at all: he wants to be with her, he doesn't want anyone else, because he loves her. (Holy shit, they both love each other? Now this is a game changer, for sure)
Tohru's completely shocked, and can only muster tiny soft questions like "does that mean i can stay with you?" and "can i hold your hand?" with lots of ellipses, because shock. Kyo points out that she's already holding his hand, and then he kisses her (She does know that that's their second kiss, right? No? Hm, Kyo feels awkward about that). Kyo then pulls her to her feet (she was sitting on a garden wall thingie), and asks if they can hug, despite the whole cat thing. He says he thinks that the curse will probably become an inconvenience to her, but Tohru says that she loves him, and that it doesn't matter, everything will work out. And so they hug and,,,,
nothing happens.
The fuck?!
Before we get to the hug, we get a quick flashback to when Akito visited Tohru in the hospital. Akito admits that she was jealous of Tohru, and that she thinks that Tohru is prettier than herself. Tohru denies that, and asks that Akito not categorize things like that, because when you think like that, you just "use them to seperate yourself out", in her words. She says that she is not without blame, that Akito was just living her life as best she could, despite all the bad stuff that was happening to her. She destroyed Akito's world, essentially, and whether or not it was for better or worse, she still acknowledges that she ended up hurting Akito, a lot.
It goes back to the present, still with Akito, as the curse is breaking for so many of the Juunishi, Kyo, Ayame, Ritsu, Kisa, Kagura, Izusu, Haru, Hatori, and lastly Shigure (no i'm not forgetting anyone, the story isn't finished), and she's telling her father (who is, if you have forgotten, quite dead) that she doesn't have to be "god" anymore, that she can just be herself. She's still scared by that idea, because she is aware of how many people she's hurt, and she doesn't think she has any redeeming qualities, she's just alone, scared, and hurt. After showing all of these people's curse breaking, it circles back to the hospital, where Tohru is again offering her friendship to Akito, so that, if Akito truly feels she has nothing else, then at least she can have that.
Back to Tohru and Kyo, after they hug and he doesn't turn into a cat, it's a feeling of shock, but then Kyo tears off his bracelet, and it breaks, the beads going everywhere, and he doesn't turn into anything. I personally have a very small idea of how fucking elated he must have been about that. This lifelong burden, somehow worse than what the other Juunishi had to deal with, something that he's been shunned for (as if he had any choice in the matter), and now it's gone. It's all done, he doesn't have to worry about that anymore.
Now, before Kyo went off to see Tohru, Yuki mentioned that he had something to do. That Something(tm) was calling Machi, and meeting up. He's planning on telling her about the whole Juunishi thing, just get it out in the air. He feels kinda weird, indescribably, but he figures he's just nervous. Before he can think about it, Machi shows up. This is it: this is when he tells her-- whoa what? There's a little rat (probably a voice in his head, the rat spirit, something like that), and it tells him that he's the last. It thanks him for keeping the promise, and bids him goodbye, walking to the other spirits. Whoa. That's intense. How do you even begin to explain that?
Then, we see the story of the Juunishi, how it started in the first place: There was once this dude who lived all alone, at the top of a mountain. Even after going down the mountain, and seeing other people, he was still alone. Despite having a lot of power and experience and memories, he knew that he was unlike other people, and developed a fear of other people, of getting hurt, and of being different than others. One day, a cat showed up, and said that it had been watching the dude for a while, and it wanted to be by his side, and so it did. This made the dude (he's God, should I just refer to him as "God" rather than "the dude"? Probably) very happy, and he thought that if he can get along fine with one, why not more? Who wouldn't want more happiness? So he made and sent out a bunch of invitations for a nice banquet, and some animals came to it: a dog, a ram, a dragon, a monkey, a rat, a snake, an ox, a horse, a bird, a rabbit, a boar, and a tiger. They all collected and all had a fun banquet for many nights.
Suddenly though, the cat fell over, and everyone was distraught. There's was nothing to be done, his life had run out. This was a reminder that death is inevitable, and can happen before you're ready. This upset all of them, and so God prepared a drink and had the cat drink it. It was the thing that created the bond, and he said that however times that everyone there is born, or dies, they will all be together, and they will always be friends, until the end of time. Everyone agreed to it, and the rat was the first to drink, and the rest followed in their sequential order. After the last had drank, the cat started to cry, and asked why God had forced him to drink, saying that he didn't want eternity. No one had expected this response, and they scolded the cat for it. He continued, saying that he knows that death is scary, but it is important to accept that things come to an end, and that he was happy that he met God. If there was a time when they met again in another life, he wanted it to be a natural thing, and to be surrounded with more than those who were sort of forced to be there.
No one wanted to hear those words, however, and the cat died alone. Eventually, one by one, they started to die, leaving God alone once again. But once his time came, he wasn't afraid, because it meant that he could once again see his friends.
Seeing how that story of friendship had over time been twisted into a curse, a burden, kinda sucks, to be honest. The best of intentions don't always work out though.
Now we're pulled back to Yuki and Machi, who is pretty confused. Yuki tries to explain, that he just said goodbye to someone who has been with him his whole life, and despite it being unpleasant to deal with, he's still emotional about them leaving. He is glad that they have left, because he now has freedom. Freedom to do what, you may ask? To hug Machi, which is exactly what he does. I suppose this is some kinda scandalous pda or something because it shows people walking by blushing or whatever. Maybe it's just the American culture in me, but I wouldn't look twice if I saw something like that. (Whoa, it's almost as if different places have different standards and views and cultures, holy shit) After that, Machi asks if she can use his name (because she's always called him "President" up until now), he says she can, they kiss, it's a whole thing. Very cute stuff. (sorry i summarized that so quickly, idk how to talk about that stuff lmao 😳😬)
I'll just leave it there for now, move onto the next, and last, book.

Grudge, hobby, insomnia, magic, question??
A-Z Headcanon game for @faepunkprince 💚
Grudge: How bad does an insult go over? Do they hold a grudge long?
Minor insults he's fairly used to. He's heard some pretty nasty shit, lots of it, and is fairly deaf to it by now--if you actually want to piss him off, insult his family or friends instead. That'll get a rise (and potentially a fight) out of him. He does tend to hold a bit of a grudge though, particuarly in a serious/life-threatening situation. He doesn't take being backstabbed by allies particularly well, but even more-so would be people he cared about being threatened/coming to harm. If that's the case, you'd better hope you can find somewhere to hide where he can't find you. When it comes to pursuing grudges like that? He's very, very determined, and utterly unremorseful.
Hobby: What’s something they do for fun that might be surprising?
It's not necessarily a hobby per-se, but he likes trying to find the best street food in Night City. He's not picky about the type of food and his tastes are pretty adventerous, but he does have a soft spot for anything sweet. He likes to treat himself to something tasty after particularly gruling gigs and is always trying to find spots that are open late. One of the few things he misses about growing up in Kabuki was the restauraunts, barely more than a counter and a window, and maybe a stool or two. They made some of the best ramen, provided you didn't ask too many questions about where the ingredients came from.
Insomnia: What’s their sleeping schedule like? Snorer? Sound sleeper?
Hahah. Schedule? What schedule? Hiro has terrible insomnia, and doesn't sleep well, more often than not--and tosses and turns a bit. He still gets a lot of nightmares, and if that's the case he's almost guarenteed not to be able to sleep after. If he's lying in bed for longer than an hour and still can't sleep, he'll usually get up and go do something. If he can't sleep at least he can be productive with his time. Occasionally he'll tinker with his cybernetics, or tidy his apartment, but usually he just ends up going out--either for a bike ride or goes and finds a club that's open. At least in Night City, that rarely seems to pose a hurdle.
Magic: In a magic series or not, are they accepting, or is each instance a shock?
Hiro would be the type to be incredibly skeptical until magic was proven beyond all doubt to exist. If it could be shown in a tangible, physical manner, he'd believe in it faster. Just hearing about the existence of it wouldn't be enough though. He'd need irrefutable proof. He's fairly similar in his approach to religion/spirituality. He doesn't look down on it, but he's quietly skeptical.
Question: How often do they feel doubt? What topics are they defensive about?
More often than they'd care to let on. A lot of their attitude/snarkiness covers up a lot of fear/uncertainty and it's easier to hide emotions than be vulnerable or acknowledge that. Most of the doubt/fear gets hidden under anger because it's easy, and it tends to drive people off, and stops them from prying too much. Hiro is ferociously defensive about anything regarding his past with the Tyger Claws. There's a lot of conflicting emotions-- deep shame and survivors guilt, and a lot of trauma that he hasn't even begun to unpack. There's a lot of "I did what I had to, and I paid the price for it. End of story." Trying to push him for more after that will start a fight.

Somebody is jealous( jellal’s edition)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13786166/2/somebody-is-jealous
for erza’s edition:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13786166/1/somebody-is-jealous
Thank you sapphireblue2007 for suggesting me to write jellal's version.
Disclaimer: these characters are rightfully owned by hiro sensei.
Somebody is Jealous (Jellal's edition)
Well, Jellal perceives himself as a very liberal and progressive person.
He wasn't a possessive person. No, not at all- Even in his relationship with Erza, he believed in giving ample space for growth and self-introspection to each other. He certainly didn't believe in getting jealous when one's partner gets some excessive attention from the opposite gender. Nope, not at all, he was a progressive person, wasn't he? He didn't want to smother her with suffocation. Jellal was aware of the fact that his woman was a strong person who didn't need anyone to save her. She was her own person and stood up for what she believed in. That's how he viewed relationships- a sweet added bonus to one's life, separate from a person's purpose in life.
Yet,
He felt horrified, as he realised, he was shamelessly contradicting his very own beliefs. His eyes twitched in mild irritation, well not exactly mild- only slight, that's how he soothed his not so jealous soul, as he watched the scene before him unfold.
His beloved was sitting comfortably on one of the chairs kept near the bar, eating her sweet dessert in contentment, oblivious to the lusty stares that eyed her glorious exposed thighs and cleavage. There were men hovering around her, drooling repugnantly.
Erza was a beautiful woman. It was an established fact. Not only did she win various beauty pageants, but she also attracted scores of men who simped after her and bolstered her as their 'waifu'!
Jellal was fucking replete with fury when he came to learn about this obnoxious verbiage. What a derogatory term! He opined. How dare they lust after Erza and claim her as their 'waifu'?! well, typically he was doing the same. But he was her partner and it's pretty healthy in a relationship to be intimately attracted to your partner! Yep, he reasoned with his conscience.
It was no secret that men secretly/openly lusted after females who were fairly popular. Given fairy tail's reputation, they were inglorious for being rambunctious all over the continent. This shouldn't come as a surprise to Jellal that Erza was kind of a national crush of Fiore. She even got disgusting offer letters from rich officials asking her to be their mistress. Every single person, be it a man or a woman, acknowledged her regal presence. Wherever they went, people were in awe of her. She was a beautiful woman, confident and sassy, along with a splendid personality. Who wouldn't be attracted to such an amazing person?
Analysing her fan following, he was sure of the fact that Erza must have dated some men in the past. However, He gasped in utter disbelief when he got to know that despite of the attention she received; she never laid her eyes on another man. They were reserved for him. Always.
He was her first man, the first man who held her hand, the first man who witnessed her vulnerable side, her first kiss, the one who took her virginity, the one she would like to start a family with and the only one who she would devote her heart to.
Forever.
That gave him a superior complex over all those degenerates who hated him for stealing their waifu.
Her devotion made him feel extremely fortunate, to get a woman who would choose him over everything else.
But that didn't mean that he couldn't get jealous.
'Oi chad, snap out from your murderous intent, will ya?'
'Laxus.'
'What happened? Why are you in such a bad mood?', Laxus raised his eyebrows in amusement. It was fun teasing Jellal especially when he was in a foul mood.
'Jelly-chan is jealous because other men in the party are eyeing Erza ravenously!', Meredy chimed in the scene, humming a tune under her breath almost nonchalantly.
Laxus let out a nasty cackle as he smashed his beer pint against the wooden table they currently occupied. Meredy joined in with her sniggers; annoying Jellal in his misery.
'Cheer up Jelly chan, if you brood so much, you will end up getting wrinkles quickly and look almost 20 years elder to Erza!'
'Stop calling me Jelly chan, Meredy!'
'Why? I think that name suits you a lot Jellal.'
Oh no.
The trio turned around to acknowledge the owner of this sardonic comment.
Erik approached the group with a wide smirk plastered on his face, much to Jellal's discontentment.
What a great timing. Now they will gang up to bully me.
'Say Jellal, want to murder those assholes? I could feel your malignity from the far end of the hall, reverberating louder than Gajeel's singing shit'
'I wouldn't go that far, they are just harmless flies'
Actually, he could.
'Then why are you getting so hot-headed over those harmless flies?', Meredy smiled knowingly.
'I am not.'
'oh boss! Stop lying with your pathetic ass!'
'I am not lying Erik!'
Erik scoffed at his reply. He didn't even try to hide it.
'Then what do you plan on doing chad boy? Just sit in a corner like a lost puppy and watch as those men eye your woman?', laxus joined in the conversation, adding oil to the fuming spark.
'I can't pause to throw a stone at every dog that barks. Plus, Erza is a strong woman. I shouldn't stick my nose where it isn't needed. I think she is capable of handling this herself.'
But actually, he was trying his best not to jump in the scene and take her away from those bastards but he didn't want to appear as a jealous freak who had no control over his irrational aspect.
'of course, she is Jellal', Meredy reasoned,' but a woman, no matter how strong she is, would love to be spoiled by her man and feel protected. That doesn't mean you are undermining her strength. It's called chivalry.'
'…'
'What about ramming some hot iron rods up in their assholes?', laxus had no chill at all.
'Laxus your speech is so vulgar', Jellal cringed.
'Not as vulgar as your mind, boss'
'Erik, listen up- '
'it's okay Jellal', Meredy patted his back sympathetically, 'You are always harsh on yourself. You don't have to berate yourself so much. Being jealous is a sign of affection after all.'
'Really?', he raised his eyebrows in suspicion.
'Well, when exercised in moderation. Don't become Juvia though.', Laxus grimaced in exasperation.
'I just-I can't handle those people who eye her like she is their personal property!'
'Oohoohoo, finally the lover boy is being honest!', laxus slapped his hand against jellal's back harshly.
Jellal ignored his remark and chose to focus upon what Erza was doing.
Erza, unfortunately, was already surrounded by random men drooling over her assets while he was busy merry making with his guild mates.
He was pissed. He was fucking pissed.
He clenched his fist in impuissance until his knuckles turned white. He let out a shaky breath, biting his lips, trying his best not to eradicate their existence by casting sema right at this moment
'Erza-sama, I know this beautiful villa by the country side that I can rent for you. Would you like to witness that scenic beauty? I can make the arrangement just for the two of us.'
'uh, no thank you. I am not interested, I am busy at the moment with my ongoing missions but I would certainly take-out time to visit this said place with my friends and my boyfriend', Erza exaggerated the last part to make this pathetic pervert clear of the fact that she wasn't interested in his offer.
'He doesn't need to know'
'When I said I won't go, I won't go. Please learn to respect a woman.'
She was already seething at this moment, ready to requip in her armour to beat the shit out of these perverts but she held herself back. This was an important party for her guild as many magic council officials appeared to discuss some important matters with master Makarov.
'Erza-sama!', another pervert chimed in, 'what about-!
'My honeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!'
Erza felt a shiver travelling down her spine even before she could react from the horror of hearing his voice. She didn't need to see who this abhorrent creature was. She didn't even acknowledge him as a person. Ichiya had already latched himself around her leg giving it a wild sniff, trespassing all boundaries of her private space.
This is it. This was her limit.
She was shaking wild. Her fingers were itching from wrath as she tried to remove him from her. These men latched themselves upon her despite being firmly rejected by her. She was being polite and considerate of her guild. That's the only reason she somehow tolerated their creepy remarks. She desperately searched for familiar eyes through the crowd that was bustling from the onset of vibrant ebullience. She grew impatient by every single moment when she failed in her search to find them. That's when she felt a presence behind her. The eyes she was searching for were already looking down from their vantage but not at her. She followed his eyes to find them glued on Ichiya.
Jellal got hold of Ichiya's hand and ruthlessly broke him apart from Erza's legs, not caring for a single second where his poor ass landed.
'Ichiya-san, that's a unique way of greeting someone. It could very well qualify as harassment you know', Jellal hissed menacingly, walking in front of Erza to make a defensive guard around her.
Jellal was a master at hiding his emotions and maintaining a stoic demeanour but Erza could still look beyond that very well.
He appeared perfectly placid but he wasn't.
His eyes bellowed bloodlust. He was growling with belligerence.
He was not going to let these repulsive hands touch the body that he revered so much.
The rest of the crowd started to disperse, succumbing to the impingement Jellal displayed, while laxus, Meredy and Erik watched the scene in awe. That's the impact Jellal's presence wielded.
There was a limit to which this man could tolerate bullshit after all. This was Jellal, who was fiercely protective of the woman he loved.
Erza snickered to herself smugly seeing the crowd become frail upon his arrival. These were some spineless cowards who weren't even half the man her Jellal was.
Jellal blissfully ignored the crowd that was whispering his name with resentment, something along the lines of 'their waifu'
He looked at Erza, taking in a deep breath of relief as he put his hands over her shoulders securely.
'Well gentlemen, I just remembered that my boyfriend and I have some work to do, if you will excuse us.' Erza stood up from her chair and bowed her head signalling her departure as she grabbed hold of jellal's hands, leading them across the hall through the exit door. Jellal looked at his guild mates who were giving him smug smiles and thumbs ups.
After exiting the guild, Jellal let out a sigh as they strode further away from that crowd. He still was shaking, his hysteria urging him to go back and beat the shit out of those bastards. He tore his thoughts away from the former events and looked sideways at the enchanting woman walking by his side.
'This dress really looks nice on you.'
'Thank you, sweetheart', Erza smiled and turned her face to give him a chaste peck on his cheeks. 'But I think I will opt for a less revealing outfit next time for a formal party like this'
'Why?'
'tch, didn't you see for yourself what happened today?'
'Don't fret about those assholes, just wear what you want', he snaked his arm around her waist protectively to pull her closer to him.
Jellal rarely cursed, that meant he was infuriated right now.
'Jellal', she whispered lovingly, taking his face in her hands, 'look at me'
He locked his gaze with her, facing her completely. His arms gently fondled her waist, pulling her entirely towards himself.
She leaned into him, melting like butter.
'I love you Jellal.' She brought his face towards hers until their foreheads were touching each other, 'Thank you for helping me back then. I was really helpless'.
They closed their eyes and sighed in synchronisation. She felt his arms locking her into a tight embrace, clutching the fabric of her dress.
'I just…..couldn't help myself when I saw them degrading you like that.' He felt the weight of her hands shifting down towards his neck, near his sensitive spot which only she knew about, caressing it to calm him down.
'Thank you love, but don't over-exert yourself over this issue, this isn't worth your time and effort', she looked at him tenderly. Jellal was such a worrywart but she loved him the same.
'yeah…you are right', he leaned into her, nuzzling his nose with hers, her sweet scent taming his raging heartbeat down, 'I love you too'
It's almost been a year since they started dating and obviously they never hesitated to show their love to each other- verbally, physically or emotionally, but Erza would never get tired of Jellal saying 'I love you' to her. She had dreamed about it so long, she yearned about it ever since she realised her feelings for him, she would never take his confessions for granted. It still had the same impact on her as the first time he poured his heart out to her.
Such was their affection for each other-always raging against the odds.
The hooting of the owls could be heard in the depth of the night. A sudden breeze struck her form as she shivered from the lack of her clothing, she had worn a simple flowy dress, not deemed to be fit in a chilly weather.
'it's getting cold Erza', Jellal pointed out as he draped his coated over her shoulders, 'let's go home'.
She hummed lightly in solace as she felt his lips softly touch her forehead. She entwined her hand with his as they started treading towards the path that led to their small cottage, their personal heaven.
'Can you make me a strawberry smoothie with vanilla ice cream?', she asked him tentatively, testing her waters.
'I thought you wanted to curb your midnight snacking'
'But jelllaaaaaaaaaaaal!', she wailed in desperation, 'dealing with those perverts drained my energy!'
'I can always make a bowl of fruits oats for you.'
'Noooooooo! That's way too heathy!'
'Okay how about this?', he tried to reason with her, 'I'll make milk oats for you with honey and loads of freshly cut strawberries. Sounds like a good deal to me, what do you think?'
She thought about the offer for a moment. It did actually sound like a good deal. She knew she kind of gave in to her midnight sugar cravings. Milk oats were a heathier option.
She pouted and tried to act a little spoiled, 'only if you bribe me.'
'What a scandal! The great titania is asking for a bribe!', he nudged her shoulder playfully and she huffed in response to his actions, 'what are your demands?'
'You need to pepper me with as many kisses as I ask you for!'
' My, My, I was already planning on giving you a thousand kisses when we reach home, don't worry about that', he replied as he gave her a wink making her blush profusely.
If anyone heard them conversing in this manner, their eyeballs would pop out from their eye sockets. They were incredible mages, well versed with the ethics of professionalism. They completed their tasks seriously but when they were alone, it becomes a different story.
A/N: if you liked my story please leave a review and do check out my works as well.
Constructive criticism is appreciated.
Keep loving Jerza!

(Disclaimer: this contains spoilers for the Fruits Basket and Fruits Basket: Another manga, as well as taking into consideration tidbits from Takaya’s twitter.)
So, okay, first of all we have to address the YMMV aspect: Some people don’t like this ship. As long as they’re respectful, I have no beef with that. I’m well aware that some people cannot/choose not to make the distinction between “real life” and “fiction”— I have the luxury of this choice, so some of the “problematic” ships/character aspects within Furuba don’t bother me (for the most part). It’s fiction, and I’m aware of this.
Again, some people cannot/do not make this distinction, and that’s none of my business because that’s their personal life. I’m aware that people dislike aspects of Akigure, and that’s fine.
Personally? I’ve been reading Furuba since like, basically the dawn of time. I was reading scans on, like,  MSN groups. I remember a friend at church (of all places) telling me about the Akito reveal because I was behind on updates. It’s literally engrained upon my shipping heart at this point.
(Headcanons ahoy! Like literally, this is all headcanon/my perspective on the series as a whole. YMMV/YKINMK/Dead Dove, the whole works, if you know you know
YES I wrote it like it’s an actual research paper because I have No Chill At All, please forgive me. It’s long and pretty rambling.)
Addressing the first elephant in the room: Given my limited interactions with the fandom, my impression of Akigure from a generalized fan POV is that it’s pretty divisive. Every episode she comes up there are “I hate this kid” comments and I cry
Akito is a favorite of mine, and it’s impossible for anime-only’s to make a deep, informed call on her character. On the other hand, a lot of manga-readers dislike her too.
So, why am I talking about whether or not people like Akito as a character?
I’m of the opinion that it impacts people’s ability to view her character arc as one that deserves a happy ending. That she doesn’t deserve to have love, happiness, or forgiveness, all of which are given to her when she and Shigure finally end up together on equal footing. (Do I think the way it’s rushed in the original Furuba ending? Yeah, but hey. Sensei had like a huge ensemble cast to wrap ends on. Now there’s Furubana to look to and it’s just chef’s kiss.)
There’s a mental aspect in this, involving the dichotomy between “reality” and “fiction”.
There is absolutely zero argument that are a lot of things that Akito does that uh, listen, if it was IRL she’d be in jail! Jail for terror baby! Jail for life!
Fortunately, Fruits Basket is a work of fiction. These characters aren’t real, they’re idealized brushstrokes of human nature created to move a plot and a message along.
That’s why Akito and Shigure work as a couple and as characters:
They’re both incredibly deep characters that get passed off as one-dimensional by a lot of people (and the original anime, woof). Some of it is again, because anime-only fans just don’t have the whole story, since Akito’s arc is one that builds gradually until it hits a point where all hell breaks loose, which we are a ways away from.
So what’s the message that their relationship and characters are supposed to pass on?
Well, it breaks down into two categories: world building and thematic arcs. The latter is more important and what I’ll be focusing on, while the former is just a little spice that I, personally enjoy, and won’t really talk about in depth. (It’s that the magical realism in Furuba sets up the idea of soulmates, it’s just…. Something I enjoy and it’s really heacanony, so I can’t really justify spending more words on it!)
When discussing Fruits Baskets in any capacity, I feel like we must first keep in mind the thematic “lessons” of the series:
There is an inherent loneliness in living as a human being, since loss, grief, and hurt are indelible parts of the human experience, and learning to cope with these feelings in a compassionate manner is a life-long lesson
People react differently to the loneliness of existence, and their reactions are based upon their personalities, their upbringings, and their own choices
Everyone is capable of change and learning, if they choose to do so, however:
Personal agency is taught, but in the vacuum of positive reinforcement, the ability of a person to choose to be compassionate is stifled or outright inaccessible
Therefore, if you are not taught to deal with your grief and existence outside of others, your ability to connect may become warped, manipulative, or abusive, and this is not the fault of the child but instead the parental figure
Eventually, you will be aware of your actions, and then it is your burden to choose—some people do not take this choice (the head maid, Ren, Kyo’s bio dad, Rin’s parents, Sawa’s mother in Furubana)
Abuse has long lasting effects on the psyche and can be physical, emotional, and/or mental in nature and must be dealt with in order to grow as a person
“Dealt with” does not mean that it goes away, but that it is acknowledged and given a positive outlet (Yuki’s garden, Aaya’s shop, Rin’s art, Momiji’s violin playing)
Forgiveness is not linear
Forgiving yourself is a long and arduous process, and happens independent of other people’s forgiveness
This is really brought to the forefront in Fruits Basket: Another, when Shiki talks about how his mother interacts with the rest of the Sohma family. It’s shown she’s done what she can to make amends, but recognizes that while she can individually hold relationships with certain family members, as a whole, it's best if she allows them to be away from her.
This is a whole tangent on its own, but there’s a certain blanket of casual forgiveness given to Akito by the entirety of the shown Zodiac in Furubana, in that they trust that she’s raised a kind and thoughtful son and allow him the grace of his own family.
Again, in Takaya’s tweets post-series that acknowledges that Akito’s friends with Uo-chan, despite her relationship with Kureno (and it shows a depth of awareness on Kureno’s part that he stays away
People flourish in environments where love and positive reinforcement is given freely, even when people are in the wrong
This doesn’t mean that no one is ever scolded: see Komaki and Kakeru, Kisa and Hiro, Hatori chews out Shigure all the time, but never ceases being his confidant
So okay, that’s A Lot. But every single character in Furuba follows these themes in their own manner, because the series is about healing and learning how to heal from abuse, neglect, and isolation. Someone’s gonna have to be doing it. Point blank, the end, to tell a story there must be conflict, and boy howdy, there’s a lot of conflict in Furuba. Every personal thematic arc in the series ends up tying into a romantic one, because Furuba is a romcom drama.
There’s a loop that goes “personal betterment”->”crush”/”friendship”->”conflict”->”personal growth”/”relationship growth” in the series for every character. That’s the bread and butter of Furuba.
But anyway. To the question:
I love them because they work, they’re both their own people with their own narrative focuses, motivations, conflicts, and flaws. Both Shigure and Akito are believable in their own right in the context of Furuba, and I think Takaya did wonderfully in crafting a story where their personalities mesh well and give each other reasons to better themselves.
To talk about them together, you have to talk about them separately.
I’m gonna start with Shigure because, truthfully?
I just want to lament about how often he’s simply passed off as either comic relief or absolute trash. He’s so underestimated!
“He’s a joke of a grown man… He is reliable and I trust him.” (Another, v. 3)
He’s incredibly intelligent when it comes to interpersonal relationships, which is why he’s able to do what he does. He’s also incredibly kind—no one made him take in Yuki or Kyo or Tohru. He could have just went “ah, I’d prefer not to” and moved on. But he didn’t, made up some bullshit so Haru would feel like taking in Yuki was a transaction, and let me just tell you, I am the same age as Shigure and if you gave ME three teenagers to be the guardian of?! It would be a full on disaster.
He’s actually incredibly trustworthy (if he wants to be), insightful, and a genuinely good guardian despite his jokes and wisecracking.
He forced Kyo to go back to school, knowing full well it would be good for him. He lets a whole host of children run rampant through his home. Kids who actually enjoy his presence. He’s shown as having a good familial relationship with Rin (who tries to warp that for her own means), Kisa, Haru, and Momiji. His advice to Tohru is genuine, insightful, and ridiculously helpful.
Shigure is good with people. He gets up at the crack of dawn to drive Shiki to see Sawa in Furubana. He’s who Mutsuki and Hajime immediately go “holy shit you need to do something about this” to when they find out Shiki’s getting nasty notes about Akito. He’s who Shiki goes to when Sawa fell down the stairs as a child. As much as Shiki and the others make fun of Shigure, he’s obviously someone who’s trustworthy. And that’s not some new development, he’s always been trustworthy in regards to those he loves. No one asked him to show up to Tohru’s teacher conference, he volunteered. Like this dude loves people, he’s the dog spirit after all, and rightly so.
Does he have his own motivations? Of course! But so does everyone else in Furuba. He’s a complex character, man!
He laughs and jokes a lot because he’s projecting this image of a laid back, doofus. When you think about who he’s friends with, the whole middling goofball act makes a lot of sense. Just like some of Ayame’s over the top behavior is a defense mechanism, I believe that Shigure casts himself as a generally unappealing man to keep himself safe from advances when he was in school, but also to temper the wildly unequal personalities of his other two friends. He’s the sort of person who would just go “eh, whatever makes it easy”, and that’s just how he is.
He doesn’t mean the creepy school girl thing, it’s a bit and I think the only people who don’t realize he’s running a bit are Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru who are absolutely too stupid to realize he’s playing them for reactions. He thinks it’s funny.
Anyway:
Tumblr media
When the older Zodiac had the dream of Shigure, Shigure is the only one who made the active choice to seek out that feeling. His soul was touched, and he decided that he wanted that and only that. This doesn’t necessarily mean he went full Jacob from Breaking Dawn, but it does mean he acknowledged there was a bond, and he wanted it.
When you get into the technicalities of the curse, it’s mentioned that their Zodiac spirits influence how they interact with Akito, and that going against her can cause physical and emotional pain. Yuki cries when meeting her, and it’s mentioned that that’s just the normal reaction for the Zodiacs.
It’s hard to say how much of their early interactions are influenced by the curse, but it’s obvious that Shigure has genuine fondness for her. She wasn’t always absolutely broken, as shown in Yuki’s backstory, and was a precocious child, one who sought affection openly.
Shigure has an indulgent personality, and is shown to love being adored. Guess who loves him! Akito! Guess who wants lots and lots of affection! Akito!
Tumblr media
Their personalities are very well matched as they get older: They’re both intelligent and coy. They both have fairly sharp tongues when needed, and have no qualms about doing whatever it takes to get what they want.
Shigure wants Akito to be independent from the curse. He’s made it clear to her he doesn’t want to be her father, he doesn’t want to be her friend, he wants to be her lover. Those are boundaries that Akito’s never been given before, and his frankness with her and his jealousy with Kureno is something she agonizes over, simply because she’s never been given any sort of serious interpersonal boundaries, or repercussions for her actions. He’s always kept himself separate from her, because of those boundaries, even when they were children.
That’s important. It opens the door to the idea that her actions have consequences, and is a persistent nagging in the back of her mind.
“Even though you hadn’t realized it, I was waiting for that day.” (ch 101)
For the bulk of the series, the only person who sees Akito as a person separate from the curse, and sees a future where she can grow is Akito. He has an extraordinary amount of patience for her, and forgives her for a lot.
There are only two incidents that Shigure cannot forgive: Her sleeping with Kureno, and at the very end of the series, I’m of the full opinion that if Akito had pushed Tohru off the cliff, Shigure would have been done with her. Look at that expression, that is the look of someone who is toeing the line of throwing away all his hopes and dreams. If she really had pushed Tohru, I just...... The series would have taken a much darker tone.
Tumblr media
OKAY that’s enough about our favorite terrible author! (Okay, an aside, Shigure, please share your work ethic, you goof off so much but you’ve published so many things…how…)
ONTO AKITO!
“I’ve  finally realized… she hated her own shallowness all this time, from the very start.” // “It’s frightening because you have no choices.” (ch 121)
A lot of people dislike Akito because she, for the bulk of the manga, is violent, manipulative and just downright unpleasant. And that’s fine, but it’s not the point of her arc or the themes of the manga.  (It is, however, the point of Rin’s: you don’t have to forgive everyone.)
She’s not the only violent person in the series. If we as readers can forgive Uo-chan and Kyoko, or even Hana-chan for her moment of violence, why can we not extend the same grace to Akito?
Violence is often shown as a knee-jerk reaction to fear and sadness: Kyoko, Uo, Hana, Kyo, Rin, and Akito all react violently to negative situations and feelings. Even Kisa reacts violently when she’s at her worst, biting both Haru and Tohru when she’s in her tiger form, which is shown to actually cause pain like a real tiger would. (It’s played for laughs, but has anyone been bitten for realsies by a house cat? That hurts! How much more would a house-cat sized tiger hurt!!!)
Out of all of them, Hanajima and Kisa are the only characters to show immediate remorse, because they have what the others don’t: A positive support system. Once positive role models and support systems are in place, all of the others begin to learn how to react differently and ease out of the knee-jerk reactions that were ingrained in them.
It’s made explicit in the manga that you have to be taught how to react positively, you have to learn and choose to be good, to be friendly, to love yourself outside of others’ perceptions of yourself. Look at Yuki’s arc. Look at Uo-chan’s. Kyoko’s.
Yuki sums it up nicely in the last chapter of the manga, where he tells Tohru that she taught the Zodiac how to become human. She allows them to grow into people who can make the choice to be loving, compassionate individuals.
Just because Akito doesn’t interact positively with Tohru for the bulk of the manga, it doesn’t make it any less true:
Akito is kept in a juvenile state of being: No one teaches her to suck it up, that the world exists outside of herself, that other people are people and not things. In fact, she’s actively encouraged to act the way she does. She’s incredibly broken, between the maids of the Sohma estate just… allowing her to do whatever the fuck she wants and her absolutely jacked up relationship with Ren and Akira. She has no moral compass at all. No one bothers to teach her that her actions have serious consequences.
She knows, in a roundabout way that hey, these people don’t like me. There’s a serious mental dissonance between what she latently knows—these are all people with no connection to her other than the bond of the curse. This is why Tohru is able to break through to her at the climax of the manga:
She knows she’s wrong, but no one has ever told her she’s wrong but understood why she’s doing it. Akito just didn’t have the words to explain herself. What do children do when they cannot communicate? They lash out. Kids will bite, scratch, yell, kick, fall to the floor and have screaming tantrums out of frustration. Eventually, most kids learn that there are other ways to express frustration, and move along. (Not all, though, but most.)
Akito was taught that this is acceptable, allowable, and is her right as god. She is actively broken and kept that way through the neglect of the Sohma family maids, Ren’s abuse, and how Akira framed her role in the Zodiac.
I can go on and on and on and on why the way Akito was treated for her role in the Zodiac by her parents and the rest of the Sohma estate was just awful. I hate it, it’s terrible, she never had a chance to learn and grow and be the genuinely thoughtful woman we know she grows into.
She doesn’t force her path of forgiveness onto others and is fully cognizant of what she did, the repercussions of her actions, and lives her entire life after the curse breaks trying to right what she did wrong.
“Even if she gets hurt, she says she deserves it. She tells me not to let it bother me, but… I’ve always, always loved her so much.” (Another, ch. 13)
Tohru opens the door for Akito. She extends her hand, offers her friendship despite having seen the absolute worst of Akito. She tells Akito that everyone is lonely, everyone wants bonds, and acknowledges Akito’s worst fears, that Akito herself is selfish and dirty for wanting something assured and unending because she, Tohru, herself is dirty and selfish. Tohru knows what Akito has done, knows she’s injured some of her beloved friends, had plans to lock up Kyo, hurt Hatori.
Tohru still forgives her. One of Tohru’s striking traits in the manga is that she is suffering, every day, she struggles with the grief of losing her mother and the fear of being alone in the world. Through nothing but her own empathy and realization that loneliness is universal, she’s able to forgive people. She forgives Akito and cares for her, and through Tohru, Akito is introduced to the realization that she’s been wrong and that maybe, she shouldn’t be forgiven.
Shigure also forgives her, and this is the crux of their ship.
To me, that itself is wildly important.
They’ve always circled around each other, and Shigure has always been waiting for Akito to be able to come to him again, in full control of her life and choices. He wants Akito the woman, not Akito the god.
He’s been waiting for the day Akito can meet him as an equal. Akito wants it too, and has wanted him to turn and see her for a very very long time. But she’s been terrified, the entire time, that when he does see her as herself, Shigure won’t like what he sees, and will leave. She’s aware of what she’s done post-curse, she’s aware of the impacts it will have on the former Zodiac members, and she’s aware that once the “bonds” of god and the animals is gone, there may not be anyone left for her.
Neither of them are under any illusions at the end of the series: Akito knows she has to atone for what she did, Shigure knows she has to learn to grow into a person who can function alone. They both know that there are people who are against them changing the oppressive structure of the Sohma family.
Neither of them care. There are things that they want, together, and it’s enough. There’s a whole new world for them to explore and learn about. And in Furubana, this is shown to be a lifelong effort on their parts:
“She said after meeting me, she learned so many things for the first time. She smiled happily as she said it.” (Another, #13)
To close, I’d like to take a moment to talk about the curse and Shigure, and how he set things in motion.
Without Shigure, the curse would have devolved on its own, yes, but the circumstances would not have allowed for the freedom the Zodiac had at the end of the manga. It would not have ended with Akito being able to learn and live freely. Allowing Tohru into the Sohma family cracked open a door to compassion and kindness none of them had ever experienced before, because the Sohma family seems to exist in a vacuum of stability and love.
It wasn’t that Shigure knew instantly that Tohru was kind and loving and thoughtful, if anything, his read on her was “completely normal, albeit strange, teenage girl who obviously has a rough life”. But she was normal, she was from outside the Sohmas, and he knew that was enough. No one in the family was stepping up to change the status quo and how stifling and abusive it was, so he did it himself.
He did it because he loved Akito.
Not because he felt bad for himself, or Hatori, or any of the others, but merely because he loved her to the point of manipulation. It backfired in his face, because he got a big ol’ dose of “loving and respecting” juice from Tohru, but he still got the end he wanted.
What I mean to say is best summarized in  chapter 123:
“It would be nice to live in a kind world, without any troubles, without any fear, without hurting anybody, without ever being hurt, only doing the right thing. I wish I could reach this kind world by the shortest path possible. … “That’s wrong”, or “that’s stupid”: If it’s someone else’s life it’s so easy to make such irresponsible comments. ...It would be great, but it doesn’t exist. … Little by little, walking one step at a time, is all you can do.”
We get to experience the roughest part of the path with Akito and Shigure, we got to watch them be terrible people who were lonely and in want of love struggle and learn how to get up and move on.
They tease each other, Shigure is thoughtful of the distinction between “the person Akito was raised to be” and “the person who Akito is”. He’s seen her at her messiest, and she’s seen him at his most jealous. They still chose each other, despite the hurt they caused each other, and others. They make up for it, reflect, and live a life that demonstrates that they have learned. They have friends who are thoughtful and loving and would not hesitate to drop everything and help them, lend an ear when they’re frustrated, help them not to make the same mistakes.
And then we get to see them be wonderful, kind, thoughtful, loving parents in Furubana.
We got to see their adorable, kind, compassionate child be friends with the children of the people Akito hurt, because everyone in the former Zodiac’s family collectively decided “never again, no”.
Their child adores them. Shiki in Furubana #13 radiates love for Akito and Shigure the same way Mutsuki and Hajime do.
Tumblr media
They are genuinely good parents, even when they tease Shiki, and I think that is testament for how good they are for each other and how much they’ve changed as adults.
I think that’s enough of a reason to ship them, don’t you?

Everything wrong with Karmi and why its a problem
Never thought I would do this thing, but as of now… I’ve kept this to myself for a long time since the beginning of the show, and I want to say that this is not recent, this is not a response to every fan that likes this character. This is to share why I find Karmi as an awful character in full detail and the fact that it’s being portrayed positively rather troubling.
(This is just a small disclaimer put to put it shortly: Jelly pig’s actions were inexcusable. She can hate Karmi all she wants and should not be forced to like her. However, sending threats and going out of their way to put nasty comments on other’s piece of work is not a healthy way to express your distaste for a character. At most, they should have just filtered their tags so that they don’t see any Karmi related work on their dash. And Jelly/pig or whatever your name is now if you’re reading this: I want to let you know that you can hate Karmi all you want, but again, sending death threats is not a way to get others to listen to you. And I get what you were trying to do, trying to say that Karmi’s existence is worse than COVID. While I get what you’re saying if you seriously think this way then you need to reevaluate yourself and your choice of words. Karmi is a bad character but there are far worse things to worry about. I do genuinely hope you change your behavior and express your opinions in a healthy manner, that you are getting better, but again, death threats will get you nowhere. In other words: think before you run your mouth.)
I am a fan of Disney, and I especially adore the show Big Hero 6: The Series. However, it has come to my attention that a certain character is a harmful presence in the show that is being portrayed in a positive light when their actions had clearly been damaging. In Big Hero 6: The Series, there is a character named Karmi, who is a Biotech student. From what I can understand, she is portrayed as a rival to Hiro Hamada to which her actions are endearing, and is set up as a love interest to the main character, with the added charm being that she is a fanfiction writer who is enamored with Hiro's superhero identity. However, upon further inspection and research, it becomes clear that Karmi, the character, is not a positive character who should be presented as such. In fact, what her actions and behavior actually are is that of a bully, an antagonist. While it is nothing new to have a bully character to be an antagonist, it appears that the writers and executive producers of Big Hero 6: The Series are unaware of/ignorant of how Karmi appears in the show and genuinely believe that Karmi's character is endearing. Here is the following evidence to display Karmi's actions and why it is not justified.
In her first appearance of the show, Issue 188, she is introduced to Hiro as to ‘help him’ socialize better by Professor Granville, and yet her behavior/actions to Hiro, when the professor is not around, is demeaning and antagonistic; One particular scene near the end where Karmi is experimenting on a dangerous virus, a virus that requires her to be in a biohazard suit, and yet doesn't tell Hiro to wear a biohazard suit himself. This becomes more concerning since the virus is compromised and could have possibly escaped, with the chance of it infecting Hiro yet she expresses no concern over his well-being and that she could have gotten him killed via said virus. Even if this is played for comedy, no biotech major or scientist would even think of replicating Karmi's actions. Especially virology majors and biotech scientists because it is the most irresponsible and negligent thing to do. Then later, we learn that it’s not Hiro that has a problem socializing, it was Karmi the whole time. Helping others socialize is nothing new, and while that is a start... later in the series we see Karmi having no problem talking to others around her, and can easily approach Liv to steal Hiro’s attention to present her invention(More on that later.) So immediately, it shows that Karmi’s problem isn’t social, it’s behavioral, she has gotten in trouble for her behavior before.
Now, I got to say this: at the beginning, I genuinely wanted to give Karmi a chance as a character, reasoning myself that it’s only her first episode. I was not expecting a 180, I only want her to be at least decent to Hiro. I could tolerate a sarcastic line or two... but Failure Mode had ultimately destroyed any sort of sympathy I could have had for her since then, the one to make me shout ‘WHAT. A. BITCH!’ and make me absolutely hate her.
During the episode of Failure Mode, her second appearance in the show, Hiro Hamada's first attempt at his project has been a failure; to which her first reaction to doing so is to film the blundered presentation and post it online for all to see. Her action during that moment is in fact, cyberbullying; an act to which the bully will post slander or humiliating moments of their victims' actions online to further humiliate them. The fact that Professor Granville, a professor/Dean of the school, who was teaching that class, in particular, does not reprimand Karmi for her blatant bullying here is disgraceful as no other teacher in authority would allow such a vile act happen in their classroom.
When I first watched it I was staring in horror at such a blatant act of bullying. I actually stopped the video I was watching because I couldn't stomach watching any more of it and it took me a solid week until I could watch the rest of the episode. And even then, she didn’t stop there: She does it again when Hiro’s second presentation inadvertently destroying the other student’s projects to which Karmi(and a group of students standing behind her) taking pictures of the whole ordeal. The next scene shows Granville and Hiro having a moment discussing how Hiro shouldn’t be discouraged and that he shouldn’t call himself a failure… to which Karmi barges in with her project and asks Granville point black to let Hiro call himself a failure many more times,(curiously the next scene cuts off to the gang before it gets to Granville’s reaction so we never see if Karmi was scolded for this.) Then, when Hiro presents his project a third time, Karmi has her phone out expecting it to fail a third time! That’s three times Karmi had done in a span of an episode with the intent to humiliate Hiro online and even wanting Hiro to call himself a failure! Could you imagine a child watching that episode, someone who might be bullied at school, watching such an act go by, and for laughs?? That’s just downright terrifying and horrific for anyone in that situation.
In Small Hiro One, Karmi is clearly demeaning to Hiro as she makes fun of him not joining the other students to a seminar of a student-alumni due to his age. Even when they had a moment to talk, Karmi originally came up to Hiro to humiliate him for being around a 'fake scientist' that made 'fake volcanoes' for a kid's show. So even that sweet moment is soured when you realized she came up to him to insult him to make herself feel better for being the first student to be kicked out of the seminar. Even Hiro, in his super suit, tells Karmi to be nicer to other people! But even then it doesn’t work and Karmi still continues her malicious behavior.
Fan Friction is a more infamous example. While it is true that people write fanfiction of their beloved celebrities and actors there has to be a line. In Hiro Hamada's view, he is clearly uncomfortable with Karmi's writing of his superhero self being portrayed in a romantic relationship when, as previously stated before, her prior actions towards him are antagonistic. He is a person, a person that had been antagonized by Karmi. He had every right to be upset about this, but the others around him basically chalk it up to being embarrassed by Karmi's infatuation with Hiro's alter ego rather than the fact that the fanfiction is written by someone who despises him.
Do you remember the episode Big Hero 7? The plot being that Fred inadvertently exposed his superhero identity to Mole which lead to Mole blackmailing the team to which they had to give in to his demands that ultimately failed because Mole still made that appointment with bluff dunder to expose their identities? That all started because Fred saw that Mole forged an autograph of Fred's superhero self, where he claimed they(The team) go apple picking and are close friends, which leads to Fred’s outburst and the reveal. Fred did it because a person who despises him and does everything he can to upset/torment him made an autograph that says they are friends when they’re clearly not as Mole tormented him for laughs. So, how come Fred has the right to be upset about Mole's autograph forgery, and yet Hiro can't be upset with Karmi's fanfic? I bet you that Fred would have been just as upset at the fanfic if it was written by mole as a self-insert, and  Gogo would be just as upset if Mole also included writing herself as his GF like Karmi writing Super Hiro as her boyfriend. And here's a kicker: if the fanfic was literally written by anybody else, then Hiro wouldn't have been so upset about it. Why? Cause it was a stranger that wrote it, someone he never met and could care less about. He would have probably shared the sentiment the others had. Except it wasn't written by some stranger, it was by Karmi, who had routinely bullied him and belittled him from day one all because he’s a younger student than her.
Karmi’s self-insert fanfic even backfired when Momakase literally thought that Karmi was in fact Hiro’s girlfriend and kidnapped her. To which brings up this thought: Why would Momakase think that a self-insert about a student be real? Is it because Obake thought it was real? I highly doubt it since he had been spying on the team for a long time and would have known everything about them, hell he made a replica of Hiro’s room in the previous episode Rivalry Weak! He would have been long aware of Hiro’s true relationship with Karmi and realized that Karmi is not involved with the team in any way. Its actually my head-cannon that Obake placed that fanfic in his sources as a joke, as a way to test Momakase to see if she could tell the difference between real info and fanfiction, to which she failed... and then he proceeded to laugh at her when he told her the truth after the fact.
In the episode Big Problem, it starts off with the introduction of Liv Amara who is going towards to see Hiro Hamda for work on Baymax. While they had waited for Liv Amara to arrive, Karmi comes in uninvited to get Liv Amara's attention. Then Liv Amara pushes away Hiro because it was Tadashi who made Baymax; there was no explanation as to why Liv Amara disregarded Hiro because it was Tadashi's invention,( is it because she had a run-in with Tadashi before that lead to some bad blood between them? We never learned anything about it). To which Karmi steps in and takes Liv Amara's attention. Hiro Hamada is clearly upset that he was snuffed for his invention not being his own, to which the others around him basically say that he is jealous of Karmi attracting Liv Amara's attention. That is a false assessment from the supporting characters and from the writers. Karmi had no right to be there when it was clearly Hiro's interview with Liv Amara. If Liv was so impressed with Karmi that she chose to spend the day with her, fund her project, and give her an internship in season 2...  then why didn't she go to Karmi in the first place? If they wanted to have Hiro jealous it should be that Granville tells the students that Liv is going to see Karmi because of her invention. That would make Hiro’s jealousy believable, but instead, Hiro’s supposed jealousy is out of anger that Baymax, his brother’s invention, was snuffed by Liv Amara  (who has the power to distribute Baymax to the public to help people like Tadashi wanted) with no explanation why and only to have Karmi, who had no right to be there, take her attention.
The episode Intern-about showcases most of Karmi's negative interactions with Hiro here as he is bothered by Karmi's high and mighty personality to which he goes to get an internship with Krei Tech. When Karmi sees that Hiro is being used for ordinary errands she insults him and laughs away like a bitch. Nothing more, not even an ‘I’m sorry’.
Prey Date has Karmi calling him an idiot. Of course, she does ask Super Hiro how Hiro is and a lot of people find that endearing. Except that was the bare minimum of decency anyone could ask. Fred asked if Mole was OK after their battle with High Voltage and not much is said about that. Even then, why didn’t Karmi ask Hiro herself? Why didn’t she look for Hiro and ask how he was, and what Orso Knox did? She didn’t. It could have happened off-screen except that’s not good enough. If it doesn’t appear in the show than that never happened, which means Karmi’s concern for Hiro by asking him in person did not happen.
Something Fluffy also has Karmi being an idiot considering she exploded at Hiro for even suggesting that Liv was behind the monster attacks and that he had no evidence to prove it. Except he does. He has Karmi’s sticker patch that he got from Ned Ludd, the hybagon. It is literally Karmi’s invention found on a person, that transformed him into a monster, and she says that it wasn’t Liv? That is more than enough evidence to show that Liv is behind the attacks because last we checked, Liv funded Karmi’s project, making it part of Sycorax. There is literally no reason for her to doubt or attack Hiro on this. Karmi could be forgiven if the patch itself was redesigned without her knowledge by Liv and Chris, but it’s an exact match which means Karmi should have known better.
On a side note: The Mayoi being a Fungus is true: however, fungi are not plants, not even close. They are in the class of Animalia because of their eukaryotic cells, they lack the ability to photosynthesize so they get their energy by absorption of other plant life, and the fact that their cell walls are made of a carbohydrate polymer called chitin, which is also found in insects as their exoskeletons. There’s even a species of fungi called the cordyceps that infect insects like ants, to which they plant themselves into the head, control the hosts’ bodies to an environment to spread their spores, to which the host dies as the fungus consumes it. What the mayoi are is just an evolved form of the fungus (thankfully not the cordyceps strain of fungi otherwise it would be far more terrifying in the show) given legs and eyes instead of a plant being given an animals’ characteristics and biology. Even the science Karmi uses isn’t correct, misdiagnosing the mayoi as plants.
There are plenty of more instances that had shown Karmi behave at her worst and I had no love for her to even care about her at this point.
For more details about Karmi’s actions, I recommend this post, https://galaxiesinadot.tumblr.com/post/187608576016/big-hero-6-season-2 as it goes more in detail about everything Karmi’s interactions with Hiro and how it was antagonistic..
But then, a particular moment during the episode, City of Monsters had me once again staring in shock to which it made me realize just how malicious and ego-driven this character is and made me wonder why the writers and executive producers think this was acceptable. Now, beforehand, her blatant bullying behavior could have been done out of ignorance simply because she doesn't know who exactly Hiro Hamada is because to her, he was simply a younger student that took up the title of the youngest student in SFIT. Not a good excuse but it would explain it. But what she revealed showed that all her previous aggression towards Hiro Hamada was out of genuine malice, nothing was accidental. The insults, wanting Hiro to call himself a failure, the cyberbullying, the purposeful attempt to get Liv Amara’s attention, every aggression towards Hiro was all on purpose; the story reveals that Karmi does, in fact, know who Tadashi Hamada is and that she had admired him at school, something she confesses to Hiro... She had known from the start that Tadashi Hamada is Hiro's older brother, and therefore would have known what had happened to Hiro and Callaghan's theft of his microbots. This means that she had chosen to harass Hiro Hamada, she had chosen to call him names. She had chosen to belittle him in any way possible because of her wounded pride in being the youngest genius at school. It was not a misunderstanding, it wasn’t a miscommunication problem. Karmi deliberately chose to behave this way towards Hiro despite knowing who Tadashi is. And even after their time at the lab where they worked at the cure, all Karmi had to say about Hiro is that he was useful…
Not ‘’He’s not so bad to talk to’
Not ‘He’s actually OK.’’
He was simply ‘useful’ to her…
That is not a friendship blossoming. That is just Karmi using Hiro for her project.  which meant that she only mentioned Tadashi to emotionally manipulate Hiro to get him to help her. The fact that she said he was useful is the type of language that Liv literally has for anyone: even Karmi. It’s an antagonistic way of speaking of another person and this is considered their relationship being improved over the course of the show? And in the end, when she leaves she doesn’t bother to say goodbye to Hiro. Not even send him a text message to explain why she just up and leaves. That doesn’t sound like a friendship where you leave without another word, especially since this is where tech is super-advanced where sending a text wouldn’t a problem. Instead, Hiro gets nothing out of it.
Now, all of the previous actions and behavior Karmi had done would have been interesting if the writers had been aware and kept Karmi in the role of the antagonist at school. I would honestly enjoy having Karmi as a bully because not only would she be someone you love to hate because of her bitchy behavior, like Heather Chandler from Heathers, it would lead to Hiro’s rising above her and others rightfully verbally slapping her in the face because of her shitty behavior and foiled attempts to undermine Hiro. Except she isn’t: Instead she’s being praised for that bad behavior, and Hiro is the one who has to apologize and be the bigger person, never the other way around.
The way she had been portrayed and presented with Hiro Hamada is unsettling because this is not a relationship to even form in a healthy manner; this type of behavior, which has been documented over time, could evolve into an abusive relationship. Just like the stories where the woman abused their male partners and some people not giving a damn because they thought of it as charming. In fact, if Hiro was the girl and Karmi the boy in this dynamic, going through the exact same thing, a lot more people would point out just how careless the producers and writers are because they chose to portray this type of relationship as positive.
And this isn’t just me: There’s a review that specified Karmi being a major problem in the show.
https://www.imdb.com/review/rw4915097/?ref_=tt_urv
Tumblr media
The executive producers' Bob Schooley, Mark McCorkle, and any other previous writers involved don't seem to realize that this type of behavior should not be presented in a positive light as it could encourage young children to tolerate their bullies and even pursue a relationship with them, which then continues the cycle of bullying which would then evolve to an abusive relationship. It is best that they do not resume writing the character Karmi because she is not a positive influence for the intended audience because her behavior and actions are excused while Hiro is the victim and repeatedly written to just tolerate her abuse which in this time, is simply inexcusable and recklessly irresponsible to teach children.
Now, whenever I hear responses this sort of thing, a common defense I hear is that its a kids show, its fiction, it shouldn't be taken seriously as it has no impact on the real world.
Except... it really does.
Animal Farm? A critique and warning about Stalin Communism that is still used today.
20,000 leagues under the sea? The real-life Nautilus.
Star Wars in general? Lightsabers in the process of being built.
Harry Potter? Two real-life theme parks in Universal Studious that had gotten insanely popular since their grand opening.
Also, kids shows/movies have the power to show lessons and experiences that could speak to someone at any age. Big Hero 6 the movie itself is an example, considering that it has themes of grief and loss and how it could affect someone to progress positively (Hiro Hamada) or in a self-destructive path(Callaghan). It touches on REAL WORLD GRIEF, THE REALITY OF THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE. THE SAME LOSS THAT IS STILL PRESENT IN THE SHOW ITSELF.
How can people claim that a show/movie is so deep and meaningful that touches their hearts and influences them and yet turn around and say ‘it’s a kids show’ as a defense when people point out their flaws? Either small and minute or genuinely a large problem.
And here’s what I’ll say next: You are not a bad person for liking Karmi. If this made you uncomfortable to see all this then... I don’t know what to say. You can continue loving this type of character all you want... but don’t deny the reality of your favorite character being a toxic influence when other people call it out.

Blooming Squadron Mankai Ranger: Event Translation Ch1-5
My mom loves Tasuku and she hasn’t managed to get Nocturnality Tasuku in English. So, I decided to just do this translation first. I’m supposed to do Glitter Kazu but you know... After this~
Blooming Squadron Mankai Ranger Ch1-5 / / Ch6-10 / / Epilogue
Tumblr media
Disclaimer:
A3! is owned by Liber Entertainment
Translator’s Note: Sentai can be translated into Squadron, but they like to say Sentai-mono which just translate to Sentai related stuff. Squadron related stuff sounds weird to me so I just decided to keep is as Sentai.
2 class system that Tsumugi mentioned later seemed to be about the fact that there is a “legend” class Sentai Ranger. But to be fair, I’m not that familiar with Ranger thingy so do tell me if it’s not accurate.
Hiro:
Tumblr media
Bartender:
Welcome.
Syu:
…Hmm?
Oh, isn’t it Hiro?
Hiro:
Syu-san you came here too.
Syu:
I guess. It’s just a place for me to enjoy sake alone.
Hiro:
Since you’re here, let me sit next to you.
Give me the same as him.
Bartender:
Certainly.
Syu:
You’re going to be crushed again like last time.
Hiro:
I’m going to be fine today!
Well then, cheers.
Syu:
Cheers.
Hiro:
So how’s your condition lately?
Syu:
Not bad. The performances are as exciting as usual.
Are you still busy?
There’s rumor on the streets that you got the lead role for a drama.
Hiro:
Thanks to you. Well, just recently I only have one paragraph on each of the drama shooting, but my schedule’s packed with a lot of things now.
Syu:
As expected of Mr. Popular Actor.
Hiro:
…Anyway, there’s also an interesting-looking job coming in.
Syu:
You’re making such a nasty look.
<Shifts to Town>
Director:
Alright, I’ve loaded all the luggage.
Tumblr media
Other Troupe’s Member:
Thank you so much for today.
Sorry to make you do chores like carrying our luggage too.
Director:
It’s fine, you always help us too.
Other Troupe’s Member:
Thank you.
Then, see you again!
Director:
Yes! Thank you for your hard work.
(Alright, I guess I can go home now.)
Igawa:
Director:
Eh? The person walking over there is…
Igawa-san!
Igawa:
Ah, Tachibana-san.
Good afternoon.
Director:
Good afternoon. Are you going back to work now?
Igawa:
Actually, there’s a drama shooting nearby.
It just finished; I’m going to the parking lot to pick up my car now so I can send Tenma-kun back.
Director:
I see. Tenma-kun, does he still have work after this?
Igawa:
No, that’s all for today.
Director:
If that’s the case--
<Short Time Skip>
Tenma:
That Igawa, he’s very slow…
!
Director:
Tenma-kun, I’m here to fetch you!
Tenma:
Director!? Why are you here…
Director:
I happened to be helping an acquaintance nearby.
I had to carry some luggage so I brought the car with me…
When I was about to go back, I bumped into Igawa-san.
We’re going back to the same place anyway, so I thought it would be more efficient for me to send you back instead.
Tenma:
… I see.
Director:
Yep, so climb in.
Tenma:
Well… There’s no other choice.
Listen, I’m going to be in the car with you so make sure you drive safely.
Director:
Of course! Then, let’s go.
<Shifts to Dorm>
Director:
We’re home.
Tenma:
We’re home.
Manager:
Welcome back!
Ah, the two of you are late~
Tenma:
Ha? What do you mean, do we have any appointment today…?
Hiro:
Sorry to disturb you.
Tenma:
!?
<End of Chapter 1>
Director:
Hiro-san!?
Tenma:
Why are you here…
Manager:
Eh? Didn’t I tell you that Hiro-san will be coming?
Director:
Never heard of it!
Manager:
Sorry, most probably I just forgot to tell you~
Director:
Ah! It’s too late to tell me now.
Hiro:
Damn, pull yourself together, Isuke.
Manager:
Well~ It was careless of me.
Excuse me.
Director:
Hiro-san, really sorry to make you wait.
Hiro:
It’s fine, I didn’t wait long so don’t worry.
… Tenma too, it’s been a while.
Tenma:
…Yeah. Hiro-san too, you look great.
Hiro:
Thanks to you.
I came here to request for one thing today.
Director:
A request?
Hiro:
Yeah, actually--
<Shifts to Lounge>
Tsumugi:
A hero show, is it?
Tumblr media
Director:
Yeah, it’s a request from Hiro-san…
This is the flyer that I received.
Tenma:
It’s an event where heroes from generations gather, among the activities, the highlight seems to be an original Sentai Hero stage by Hiro-san.
Tsumugi:
Hee, it’s a 2-class system.
Director:
Then, Hiro-san who will appear as the “Legend” requires supporting actors to strengthen the atmosphere around— thus he requested for actors from MANKAI company to appear as well.
Banri:
I see.
Director:
He’s a famous actor so, we would be able to create some buzz by co-starring in the hero show with Hiro-san who has experience appearing with special effects…
I thought it would be a good opportunity to expand the customer base too, towards the small children and their parents.
Tsumugi:
A hero show… I guess it’s not an impossible request.
Banri:
Why not. It sounds fun too?
Sakuya:
I also agree!
Director:
I’m glad.
Alright then, I want to select the performers for the show, but…
For Tenma-kun, Hiro-san had nominated him so his appearance has already been confirmed. It already passed his agency too.
Banri:
Co-starring with another popular actor huh.
Sakuya:
Similar to that previous drama.
Tenma:
I was a burden during the drama that time.
This time, I’m going to recover my reputation.
But, I’ve never seen a Sentai Hero-related show.
I did appear as a guest in a Rider series before, but…
Banri:
Is there anyone who likes hero stuff here?
I’ll listen in too, seems like an easy thing to do.
Tsumugi:
If that’s the case, there’s someone that I want to recommend…
Director:
?
<Shifts to Living Room>
Director:
So that’s about it, let’s start our meeting for the hero show promptly.
The co-star this time will be the people gathered here, Tenma-kun, Tasuku-san, Masumi-kun, Banri-kun, Omi-kun, Homare-san. These 6 people.
I also have Tsuzuru-kun, who will be in charge of the script, here today.
Tsuzuru:
Pleased to work with you.
Director:
By the way, Tasuku-san really has a very strong recommendation from Tsumugi-san!
Omi:
Recommendation?
Tasuku:
What do you mean by that?
Masumi:
It seems that the actual person doesn’t even know about it.
Banri:
Tasuku-san used to roleplay Sentai Hero with his brother in the past.
Tenma:
Surely, he can lend you his knowledge…  that’s what he said.
Tasuku:
That guy, he’s saying something unnecessary again…
That was so long ago.
It’s true that I used to play like that when I was a kid, but it’s not like I’m actually a Sentai-otaku.
Tumblr media
Tenma:
Is it?
Tasuku:
But I guess, if we’re going to do it, I’m going to do my best to be of help.
Homare:
Oh, so reliable!
I’ll depend on you!
Omi:
So, the script will be written by Tsuzuru.
Tsuzuru:
Yeah. I really liked Sentai Hero when I was small too.
So, I am very happy to be able to write a script for one.
Director:
What kind of story will it be, I’m looking forward to it.
<End of Chapter 2>
Tsuzuru:
If we’re talking about Sentai, I guess it has to be color-coded character right.
Director:
Before you start on the script, why not we discussed it with everyone.
By the way, the management really hopes that Hiro-san will be playing as the legend-role, “White”.
Tasuku:
White? It’s a rare color even in Sentai.
Omi:
Well, maybe they really want to show off the legend feel.
Banri:
If Hiro-san is white, why don’t we have a black one for ours.
Tsuzuru:
That’s true… Since, I’m writing an original script…
Maybe we can turn around the entire colour scheme, we can open up the possibility of everyone having a rare colour.
Director:
I see, that sounds interesting too.
Homare:
Hmm… Then, how about silver?
Tenma:
If that’s the case, the next one will be… gold?
Tasuku:
Don’t just completely ignore the colour concept of Sentai…
Director:
Well well, there’s a chance that we have to wait for Hiro-san’s approval too.
Masumi:
Director:
How about you, Masumi-kun?
Is there a colour you want to be?
Masumi:
How about you?
Director:
Eh?
Masumi:
The colour you want to be is yellow maybe?
Director:
No no, I won’t even make an appearance you know?
Omi:
But why yellow?
Banri:
Normally, it would be pink isn’t it?
Masumi:
Because it’s the curry colour.
Tenma:
It’s like that!
Director:
Curry-coloured yellow warrior…!
That sounds great!
Tsuzuru:
So, you’re not really against the idea.
Tasuku:
Don’t be happy because of that.
<Short Time Skip>
Director:
Alright, then I guess we decided on the colour scheme and the individual colours for now.
So for the arrangement, Tenma-kun will be Red…
Omi:
Black is Tasuku-san, Gold is Banri, Silver is Homare-san.
Homare:
Then, the enemy boss character will be Omi-kun, and the boss underling will be Masumi-kun.
Tasuku:
Really, I don’t understand this colour scheme at all.
Tsuzuru:
I said it myself but, I guess we really ended up changing the colours a lot.
Tenma:
Will it become a problem for the script?
Tsuzuru:
I think it should not be a problem, I feel that I should be able to get an approval from the management side and Hyuuga-san.
Director:
Well, anyway if they reject the idea we can always rethink it, it’s going to be fine!
Banri:
Director-chan, your positivity is a mystery.
Masumi:
I like that side of yours too…
<Shifts to Lesson Room>
Hiro:
Then, let’s start our practice.
Banri:
Yes.
Omi:
Pleased to work with you.
Director:
(Anyway… For them to leave the character colours as they are.
I didn’t expect everything to go that smoothly, I’m a bit wary now…)
Hiro:
Tenma, you should move a bit more forward here.
The gesture too, it’s fine to make a bigger movement.
Tenma:
Understood. Like this?
Hiro:
Yeah, right. I’ll be your action opponent, so let’s try that line again from the beginning.
Then, following this line--
Director:
(There’s also the fact that Tenma-kun will be playing Red, but Hiro-san seemed to be very passionate about his instruction.
This exchange between the previous and current leader…
Somehow, I feel the warmth in my chest.)
Hiro:
Let’s end here for today.
Tasuku:
Thank you very much.
Homare:
Good work today.
Director:
Hiro-san, so how’s everything?
Hiro:
As for the current situation, it’s not particularly good, but it’s not bad either.
I think everyone will get better with more practice, but…
Rather than me teaching how to do it, there’s a quicker method to learn.
Director:
?
<End of Chapter 3>
Masumi:
…Is this the theatre?
Tumblr media
Banri:
Seems so.
Omi:
But, Hiro-san’s method to quickly learn ends up being experiencing the actual hero show performance.
Tasuku:
It’s true that it’s easier to see the image and feel the atmosphere around, it seems that there’s going to be a lot to learn.
Director:
Hiro-san couldn’t come because he has another job, but it seemed that he had talked directly with the theatre.
It’s going to be the theatre where we will do our actual event performance so it will serve as venue tour as well.
Tenma:
I see.
Director:
Since Hiro-san has made all the arrangements for us, let’s try to enjoy today!
<Shifts to Stage>
Homare:
The seats are… over here.
Tumblr media
Director:
I’m getting really excited now~
Tenma:
Well, who actually enjoyed a show more than Director.
Banri:
The tension’s really rising up.
Director:
Ahaha, it really feels like I’m back to my childhood.
This kind of nostalgic thing has such a lighthearted feel to it.
Masumi:
That side of you is very cute too.
Omi:
It seems that the Hero will be passing by this aisle later to give high five to everyone.
Tasuku:
Hee…
Tenma:
Oh, it’s starting.
<Stage lights up>
Monster:
So impudent…!
But, how about this! Haaaa!
Tumblr media
Blue:
What!? Th, this technique is…!
Green:
Ugh… Arrrghhhhh!
Child A:
Blue! Green!!
Child B:
Hang in there!
Monster:
Hahahahaha! How’s that!
Red:
We’re going to be wiped out this way…
Everyone! Please lend us, Wolf Ranger, your power!
Children:
Go!!
<Shifts to Theatre Outdoor>
Director:
Haa, that was fun~!
Tasuku:
It’s worth seeing.
Masumi:
You look cute when you’re enjoying yourself.
Homare:
Me too, I managed to high five the hero!
Omi:
The action was great too.
Director:
I’m glad that we’re able to understand the hero show atmosphere better too.
We should be able to progress with practice this way!
Banri:
Eh, by the way, where’s Tenma?
Homare:
Oh? I thought he was beside me just a while ago.
Tasuku:
He’s missing.
Director:
Maybe, he’s lost…?
Masumi:
Usually, you can’t do that in such a short amount of time.
Banri:
Damn, he never change.
I’ll just contact him using LIME in the meantime.
Tasuku:
I’ll look around while I buy some drinks.
Banri:
Ah, then I’ll get coffee.
Masumi:
Water.
Homare:
Straight tea please.
Tasuku:
Geez…
<Short Time Skip>
Tasuku:
…I guess that’s it for the drinks.
(But really, where did Sumeragi go.)
*bump*
!?
Small Child:
Tasuku:
(I thought I bumped into something with my leg, but… a child?)
Small Child:
Uh…
Tasuku:
(A person who looks like his mom around here… doesn’t seem to exist.
This is maybe…)
…What happened? Where’s your mom?
Small Child:
She’s gone… She went somewhere…
Tasuku:
(As I thought… A lost child huh.)
Small Child:
Mom… Sniff…
Tasuku:
…Don’t cry. You’re a boy right?
We can look for her together.
Small Child:
Big brother… Thank you.
<End of Chapter 4>
Tasuku:
What’s your name?
Shouta:
…Shouta.
Tasuku:
Shouta, I see.
Shouta:
How about big brother…?
Tasuku:
It’s Tasuku.
Shouta:
Big brother Tasuku…
Tasuku:
…Hey.
Shouta:
?
Tasuku:
You’re going to be lost again.
Your hand, give it to me.
Shouta:
…Yeah!
Tasuku:
First of all, I guess I have to get back to those guys.
Shouta:
Tasuku:
(This kind of thing, if it’s Tsumugi he would do it much better than me…
I can’t get used to kids and I don’t know how to handle them.)
(I didn’t realize it before but… That thing Shouta’s wearing on his clothes, is it a can badge? Also, I think that’s…)
That can badge, it’s Wolf Ranger right.
Shouta:
…Big brother, you know about it?
Tasuku:
I guess.
I just finished watching the show earlier.
Shouta:
Me too!
Wolf Ranger, they’re so cool!
Wolf Ranger you know, they’re so strong.
Even when the monster appeared, he will blow them away with his Super Kick!
Tasuku:
Ah, the jump kick, it was cool.
Shouta:
Yes! Then when the ranger awakened his power, he will enter Hyper Mode!
Tasuku:
Ah… There’s that too.
Tenma:
Damn… Where did those guys go…
Tasuku:
!
Oi, Sumeragi.
Tenma:
Tasuku-san! So you’re here.
I wonder where you went.
Tasuku:
That’s supposed to be my line isn’t it.
Tenma:
Uh… I, I was just distracted by the poster a bit.
Shouta:
Tenma:
Hmm? This kid is…
Tasuku:
He’s the same as you. A lost child.
For the time being, let’s just go and join the others.
Tenma:
I, I wasn’t lost at all!
<Short Time Skip>
Banri:
Oh, Tasuku-san is back.
Homare:
Oh, it seems that Tenma-kun is with him too.
Director:
I’m glad! You can join us again safely… Eh, that, who’s that child?
Shouta:
Tasuku:
I met him on the way. He seemed to be lost.
Omi:
I see.
Masumi:
…Isn’t it fine if we just bring him to the lost child center.
Homare:
You’re right.
Shouta:
I… I want to be with big brother Tasuku.
Banri:
Hee, he seemed to want to stick with Tasuku-san.
Director:
He seemed so attached to you already.
You really get along well for such a short period of time~
Homare:
A combination of Tasuku and a small child, it’s such a fresh view.
Masumi:
…You’ll be mistaken as a kidnapper.
Tasuku:
Oi, who is.
Omi:
If that’s the case, maybe it’s better for us to look for this child’s mother.
Director:
You’re right. For the time being, let’s try to call the lost child center…
Mother:
…Shouta!
Shouta:
Ah! Mom!
Tasuku:
!
Mother:
I’m glad…!
Homare:
Oh, it seems to be Shouta-kun’s mother.
Omi:
It’s great that they find each other quickly.
Mother:
I’m sorry for the inconvenience…
Shouta:
Those big brothers stayed with me!
Mother:
I see, you’re right.
Thank you so much, really.
Tasuku:
It’s nothing, I’m glad that you can safely meet each other again.
Mother:
Hey, Shouta, you should say your gratitude too.
Shouta:
Big brother, big sister… Thank you.
Big brother Tasuku too…
Let’s talk about Wolf Ranger again?
Tasuku:
Yeah, of course.
Homare:
Oh, Shouta-kun likes hero is it.
Mother:
Yeah. He often founds himself walking towards different hero shows, he’s a big fan…
Director:
If that’s the case..!
Excuse me, if you would like to, please take this flyer!
Mother:
A hero show event…
It will be held in this venue right.
Director:
Yeah! Actually, we are members from a theatre group called MANKAI company.
We will be making an appearance for the hero show in the upcoming event.
If it’s possible, please come along to watch with Shouta-kun.
Mother:
Thank you so much..!
Shouta-kun will be really delighted too, I’m sure he would want to visit.
So, everyone over here are members of the theatre troupe.
Tenma:
You’re right.
Mother:
…Huh, eh!?
Are you possibly, Sumeragi Tenma-kun!?
Tenma:
Nice to meet you.
Mother:
I didn’t realize at all…!
Banri:
Well, if you suddenly see a famous actor right in front of your eyes, of course you’ll be surprised.

Of Rocks and Robots Ch.22 - Presents and Portals (Part 1)
Tumblr media
“Hey, Miss Itamae, I hope you’re having a nice day. You, wouldn’t happen to have anything special today for someone's birthday, would ya?” Hiro asked the grumpy lunch lady before him with a nervous smile.
Miss Itamae only gave him her customary scowl and unceremoniously dumped a scoop of mash potatoes on top of his steak and gravy.
“Yeah...okay then.” He said wearily and moved out the line.
Varian slid into his previously held spot in line.
“Heeelllooo, Miss Itamae, looking lovely as ever! Did you do something with your hair? New hair net perhaps?” Varian flashed the woman his most charming grin but Miss Itamae looked as unamused as ever. Still Hiro had to admit Varian was far more confident in his attempts to butter up the lunch lady; maintaining his witty and suave demeanor even as she dumped his scoop of mash potatoes into his chocolate pudding. “Superb aim, as always.” He said with cheery sarcasm, before turning away.
“Let’s face it. She hates us.” Hiro whispered to him as they both walked away from the line.
“I think she hates everybody.” Varian observed.
“Then why bother with being so nice?” Karmi asked as they joined her at the lunch table.
“Oh, cause it annoys her.” Varian chirped.
“Yeah, we’re trying to kill her kindness.” Hiro added.
‘Ooookaay.” Karmi rolled her eyes and then opted to change the subject. “Sooo, birthday boy, how's it feel to be fifteen?”
“Uh, not that much different from being fourteen, honestly.” replied Hiro, as he poked at his unappetising lunch.
“Got any celebration plans?”
“Well, Aunt Cass is holding a birthday party later today at the Luck Cat, if you wanna come.”
“I’d love to. What time?”
“It’s at six. It’s nothing special, just a dinner and some cake.”
“And I’m making the cake.” Varian excitedly added.
“And if it’s anything like his fish pie, you’ll want to skip dessert.” Hiro warned Karmi.
Varian looked offended. “Hey! I can bake a cake. Besides it can’t be any worse than these chocolate covered potatoes.” He gave a rueful look at his plate before taking a bite of the nasty connection anyways.
“Then why are you still eating it?”
“What!? And waste food?” He asked aghast.
Hiro rolled his eyes, “Anyways, how did your essay go, Karmi?”
“Great! I got an A, as usual, but I have to admit writing about bacteria’s evolving resistance to antibiotics isn’t nearly as fun as writing fan fiction.”
“What’s fan fiction?” Varian innocently asked.
Karmi’s eyes went wide with excitement and Hiro felt his heart stop as he knew what was coming next.
“Only the greatest thing ever! It’s when people write stories based on stuff they like, like books, or movies. I have this whole ongoing story about Big Hero Six that I’ve been working on!” She pulled out her phone and pulled up said story before handing it to Varian.
Hiro suppressed a groan. “Karmi, did it ever occur to you that maybe real life people wouldn’t appreciate you writing fiction about them?”
Karmi huffed, “Shows what you know. Captain Cutie himself said he liked my work.”
“Captain Cutie?” Varian asked, confused.
“He’s the leader of Big Hero Six, and he’s just the dreamiest.” Karmi explained with a wistful sigh.
Hiro felt like he was going to die of embarrassment.
Varian looked back and forth between Karmi and Hiro in surprise as he pieced together what was happening. Finally he burst out laughing.
“Cap..Captain, Cuuutieee!?” He wheezed, before balling up into more laughter.
Now it was Karmi’s turn to look offended. “You got a problem with that?”
“Nooo! Oh, no, no, N….not at all!” Varian tried to assure her between his fits of laughter. Once he had managed to compose himself, he looked her dead in the eye and said with the most sincere voice he could muster, “Captain Cutie, is the perfect name.”
He followed this up with a smarmy smile that told Hiro that he would never hear the end of this.
“Well, it should be, I came up with.” Karmi held her head up high to mask that her pride had been hurt.
“And it’s amazing !” Varian enthused. “If your story is half as awesome as that name, I’ll bet it’ll be even better than a Flynn Rider book!”
That was enough to placate her. In fact she outright blushed, knowing full well how much Varian loved Flynn Rider novels; though she herself had never read one.
“I promise to read every word.” Varian vowed.
“Weeell, in that case I’ll text you the link.” She took her phone back from Varian and stood up from the table. “It’ll be more than what Hiro does.”
“Hey, I’ve read all your stories.” Hiro defended himself. Karmi looked at him accusingly and he buckled under her glare. “I just... didn’t like them.” He admitted sheepishly.
And with that, Karmi turned her nose up into the air and stormed off in a huff. Hiro slumped down in his seat.
“Smooth move, Captain Cutie.” Varian teased.
Hiro kicked him the shin.
                                               ----------------------------
Hiro scrounged underneath the bed, reaching his arm out as far as it would go, but his hand grabbed hold of nothing but air.
"I did not find anything in the sock drawer" he heard a robotic voice proclaim above the bed.
"That's ok.. ouch… Baymax." Hiro crawled out from under the bed and rubbed the spot where he had bumped his head against the frame. He looked up to find Varian standing in the doorway watching him.
"What are you doing?" The other boy asked with a look of concern on his face.
Hiro was sitting in the middle of what was once Tadashi's side of the room. No one had bothered to touch his brother's things since his death, other than to occasionally dust or tidy up, so seeing both him and Baymax raiding the place was unusual.
"Uhmmm… just...looking for something."
Varian raised an eyebrow.
Hiro sighed.
"You'll think this silly, but, I was hunting for my birthday present."
Hiro searched Varian's face to see what his reaction would be. He blinked a few times in surprise, but other than that, the older teen was careful not to say or do anything that might upset Hiro. Instead he stood by patiently, letting Hiro have the space he needed to explain things on his own terms.
"Tadashi always liked to plan ahead for things. He'd gift stuff in advance and then hide it somewhere around the house until time to give it. I found one at Christmas, that he'd wrapped a year ahead of time, but, I don't know, I guess he didn't think that far ahead for my birthday."
Hiro looked forlornly around the room. He felt stupid now for having even bothered to look and self-conscious at having dredged back up bad memories on what suppose to be a fun day.
"Well, maybe he just hid it somewhere else." Varian reassured him. "Did you try the attic or the garage?"
Hiro shook his head.
"There, ya see? This a three story house and you haven't even searched a tenth of it. Once the party is over with I'll help you look. Okay?"
He offered Hiro a helpful smile and Hiro returned it.
"Okay."
"Speaking of which," Varian continued, "Megan called and said she's on her way and everyone else should be here soon. Aunt Cass sent me up here to get you. Also the cake's done." He flashed a proud grin at that last part.
"And what weird flavour did we come up with this time?" Hiro teased as got up to join Varian at the door. "Black pepper? Bacon? Licorice, again?"
Varian gave him an unamused look.
"It's vanilla with vanilla frosting, wise guy. Also I made sure to write in big bold letters 'Happy Birthday, Captain Cutie' on the top." He sneered.
Hiro rolled his eyes, not believing Varian's bluff, only to second guess himself as Varian gave a smug smile as he walked off.
"You..you didn't, did you?"
Varian didn't answer.
"Seriously, tell me you didn't." Hiro yelled after him as he rushed down the stairs.
Baymax was left standing in the bedroom as he watched the two teens leave. He looked around at the mess, unsure if to follow or to stay and clean up. If robots could sigh in frustration he would have just then. Eventually his primary programming overrode his cleaning operatives and he slowly hobbled after the boys.
                                              ----------------------------
Ding-dong
“I’ll get it!” Hiro yelled as he rushed to the door to answer it.
So far the only people to arrive at the party were Wasabi and Megan. They, along with Varian, were in the kitchen decorating the cake, which thankfully had no ‘Captain Cutie’ written on the front, while Aunt Cass busied herself with shutting down the cafe for the evening.
Hiro opened the door to find Karmi standing there, holding a present in her hands and shuffling her feet like she was unsure of what to do. Hiro stared at her in surprise, first, because he didn’t know if she would show up after getting mad at him during lunch and second, because she wasn’t wearing her usual sweater. Instead she wore a cute summer dress. It was purple with spaghetti straps and a flared skirt that cut off right above her knees. Hiro couldn’t help but feel his cheeks flush at the sight.
Damn it, why did she have to look so pretty? Why did he even care what she wore to begin with? What was his stupid body doing?
She gave him a nervous smile and held out her present to him. He took it numbly, eyes still fixed on her.
“I’m sorry for getting mad earlier today.” She said sheepishly. “I hope I’m not late.” After a slight pause she added, “You know, for the party.”
“Oh! Oh no. Not at all.” Hiro responded, finally snapping out of his stupor. “In fact you’re early. The party got pushed back to 6:30. Fred’s running late with the balloons. But there’s some of us already here, come on in.”
“Thanks.” She said with another small smile as she slid past him.
“Everybody is in the kitchen decorating the cake.” He pointed her down the hallway to the upstairs kitchen and was going to show her where to go when his phone rang.
“Hello.”
It was Keri.
“What do you mean stolen?” Hiro asked with concern as Keri blabbered on about missing project files.
Karmi paused and looked back at him questiongly.
“Look, do I have to come in now?” He tore the phone away from his ear as Keri started ranting instead.
“Okay, okay, I’ll be there soon.” He hung up.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“Uh...looks like I need to go into the office today, just for a bit.”
“But what about your party?”
“Oh, it shouldn’t take long.” Hiro looked at his watch. “Thirty minutes, tops.”
“Hey, Wasabi?!” He yelled and his friend poked his head around the corner. “Do you mind giving me a lift to Keri Tech?”
                                              ----------------------------
“Wow. So she was behind you the whole time?”
Hiro looked at the surveillance footage of the theft. A woman with short white hair, dressed in a red and black leotard with her face covered in matching makeup, flipped silently behind Krei, downloaded files to a flash drive off his computer, and then cartwheeled away unnoticed.
“Can we have a little less mocking and a little more solving, please?” Krei huffed in defense.
“I have found a biometric match.” Baymaxed announced. “Celine Simard; a professional physicist from Lyontreal.”
Wasabi studied the read out on Baymax’s screen. “Says here she worked her way through college as an acrobat in the circus. Stage name, Sirque. I guess that explains the leotard.”
“It also says she’s wanted for theft in major cities from around the globe.” Hiro added. “Any idea what she took?”
“No idea.” Krei answered. “My personal computer has information on hundreds of top secret projects. It could’ve been anything.”
“And with a physics degree, that means she’s smart enough to use whatever it is she took.” Wasabi ominously warned.
                                             ----------------------------
Hiro and Wasabi arrived back at the Luck Cat just in time for the party. Fred and the rest of their friends had arrived and were just finishing decorating the cafe.
"Hey, so what did we miss?" Wasabi asked.
"Oh not much." Honey Lemon answered. "Karmi was just telling us the latest chapter of her story."
"Yeah the one where Captain Cutie and his girlfriend Lab Lady go on a romantic getaway. It's adorable." Varian mocked, and it took every bit of Hiro's willpower not to tackle him from across the room.
"Yeah, it's real interesting. I didn't even know ‘Capitan Cuite’ had a girlfriend." Megan got in on the teasing and Hiro wanted to sink into the ground and disappear.
Karmi however seemed to not to notice the meaning behind their words. "I'm glad someone likes my stories. Hiro doesn't think much of them."
"Oh he just doesn't know what's good." Megan encouraged her. "I think you're a great writer."
"Thanks."
"Yeah! I especially liked the cool new power ups you came up with." Fred added.
Fortunately Aunt Cass interrupted the conversation. "Food's ready!" She sang while carrying two trays of homemade pizza.
From there the party proceeded smoothly. They ate dinner and then played some games, with Hiro finally getting back at Varian with truth or dare. He dared the other teen to juggle some eggs, which all wound up landing on top Varian's head after only one attempt.
Next was cake and ice cream; which Hiro had to admit turned out pretty good. Even though he was loathed to stroke Varian's ego by saying so out loud.
Still, all went well, right up until time to open his presents. Hiro had opened most of them, save for Varian's and Karmi's. He got to Karmi's and had only just unwrapped it, when a loud booming noise from across the street was heard. Soon, the cafe shook as if hit by an earthquake.
Everyone ducked for cover as cups and dishes clattered off the table and shelves and pictures fell off the walls. Hiro though spotted a familiar figure run pass and duck into an alley. She was wearing a leotard.
As the shaking subsided, and before anyone could stop him, Hiro rushed out to see what had happened and hopefully to catch the culprit.
He saw the damage from, not an explosion, but an implosion. As if something had sucked everything inward with street lamps and a mailbox bent in on themselves towards a central point.
There was no sign of Sirque, but Hiro spotted some small metal balls lying on the ground in the center point of the wreckage.
"Hiro? What are you doing?" Megan came up behind him. "Usually people run away from explosions not towards them."
"And yet, here you are." He teased. She rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Also it wasn't an explosion that caused this."
He didn't get a chance to explain further as Gogo came up and told them to come back inside before Aunt Cass noticed they were gone. Hiro scooped up the clue he'd found and they headed back.
The cafe was a mess and the party was officially deemed over with. Everyone stayed to clean up but soon one by one they all left.
First Cruz picked up Megan. Then Wasabi offered Karmi a ride back to the dorms. Gogo and Honey Lemon took their leave next, both promising to go on patrol once they had time to get their gear.
Finally, once there was nothing left to clean, Hiro and Varian made up an excuse to Aunt Cass and rode with Fred to HQ to study the metal orbs Hiro had found.
                                              ----------------------------
"So..nice evening, hun?" Wabasi awkwardly tried to make small talk on the way back to the dorms. He didn't know Karmi as well as some of his other friends did and wasn't sure what to talk about.
"Yeah." Karmi dully said as she gazed out the window, chin in her hand.
"Yeah." Wasabi echoed in defeat.
He wasn't getting anywhere. He racked his brain for another point of conversation, when suddenly a swirling hole appeared in the air. It wiggled and writhed, crackling with energy, and a woman wearing a leotard jumped out and landed on the hood of Wasabi's car.
He slammed the breaks in surprise. She in turn responded quickly, nimbly rolling off the hood and running in the opposite direction of the portal.
Wasabi took a few moments to breath. His heart was racing. He looked over to Karmi who looked equally scared. However, her eyes were still fixated on the portal.
"Look out!" She cried.
Wasabi saw debris fly past and into the gaping mouth of the portal. It appeared to be shortcuriting, writhing even more erratically than before. Then, to Wasabi's horror, the wind picked up speed, lifted the car up, and hurled them into the portal.
Their screams were cut short as they entered and then the portal closed, leaving no trace that they had ever been there.

67.          “You can call me whenever you want to.” And 75.           “Stop fussing, I’m braiding your hair” and 77.    “You ruined my shirt”
The night had started out so promising.  Sanada had found a pretty, wild, and kinky woman at the club who was down for every nasty thing he whispered in her ear, grinding her body against him and practically fucking him in the middle of the dance floor.   As he was pulling her up the stairs to his private VIP room she had suggested inviting her friend to join them.   Sanada had no objections provided she was hot, which his companion assured him he wouldn’t be disappointed.
Things only went to hell when the mystery woman joined them.  Sanada was on top, pants at his ankles, her legs around his waist about to shove his cock home when new hands appeared on his shoulders.  He didn’t pay much attention until the new girl leaned close and he got a whiff of her perfume.  Perfume that had him wilting and stiffening at the same time.   Perfume that was the same one that his ex-girlfriend Kana wore exclusively.  He couldn’t stomach being with a woman that smelled like her.  Craning his neck to tell her to get lost Sanada froze as he saw Kana standing behind him.
He hadn’t even said a word, pushing off the woman below him and hightailing it out of the club.   In the back of the taxi he had hopped into Sanada rubbed the heels of his palms into his eyes as he leaned back with a groan.  Millions of people in this fucking city and he had to run into her.   He wanted to forget how good she had looked in that brief glimpse he got of her.  Halfway to drunk, and now sexually frustrated all his body wanted to do was crawl up on Kana and remember how good it felt sinking his cock into her tight heat.
Pulling out his phone Sanada brought up the contacts, his finger hovering over her name.  Three years later and her number was still in his phone.  Evil would murder him if he knew it.   Hell, so would the rest of them.  With a heavy sigh his thumb scrolled through his contacts, repeatedly coming back to Kana’s name, fingers itching to press the call button.  Finally he pressed down on a name, not the one he wanted to be calling, but the smarter choice.
“Sanada-chan!”  Hiromu exclaimed as he answered the call.
“Hey, Hiro.”  Sanada said, pausing for a moment as he cleared his throat.  He didn’t want to burden Hiromu.  He was supposed to be the big brother, protect Hiromu but he couldn’t help but think of the last time Kana had crossed his path, how Hiromu had been there for him.  “You home?  Is it alright if I come by?”
After assurances to Sanada that he was more than welcome to come by his house Hiromu hung up the phone with a frown.   He didn’t know what had Sanada reaching out to him, but the fact that he was had alarm bells ringing.
“I’m sorry for bothering you.”  Sanada said as Hiromu ushered him into the house.
“Hush now.  You can call me whenever you want to.”  Hiromu said.  “You know that Sanada.”
Grabbing a couple of beers from the fridge Hiromu joined Sanada on the couch running a critical eye over his friend who looked much to tense for Hiromu’s liking.   Sanada was well-dressed as usual, wearing dark wash jeans and a navy blue button down, though he looked like he was barely holding on.  Hiromu’s eyes flickering down to the phone held in Sanada’s hand.  When he saw the name his fingers were hovering over anger filled him.
“Give me that.” Hiromu said ripping the phone from Sanada’s hand.  “You’re not calling that bitch.”
“I wasn’t gonna.”  Sanada said sullenly gulping back the beer Hiromu had handed him.
“I don’t know why she’s still in your phone.”  Hiromu chastised. “You need to delete her.  You’re never going to get over her if you keep even a piece of her in your life.”
“I’m trying Hiromu.”  Sanada spat harshly. “I didn’t go looking for her.  I didn’t call her.  She was just there.  She’s always just there.”
As he once again watched the strongest man he knew break down over some stupid bitch, Hiromu let fury burn through him for a brief second before pulling Sanada’s head into his chest, stroking his fingers through Sanada’s hair and pushing out the anger.  Now wasn’t the time.
Reaching into his pocket without disturbing Sanada Hiromu sent out a group text to the rest of LIJ.  He was sure Sanada would protest, but they all needed to be together tonight.   Whether Sanada would admit it or not he was struggling.  Him calling Hiromu was proof enough of that.
“You don’t need to ruin everyone’s night out.”  Sanada complained, pulling away from Hiromu when he told him he had called in the troops.  “I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine.”  Hiromu argued.  “Look at you.  You’re crying.  You ruined my shirt.”
Sanada grimaced as he looked at Hiromu’s tear soaked shirt and heaved a sigh.  He should’ve just gone home.  Now Hiromu and the rest of his brothers were going to get roped into his drama.  He was irritated with himself for letting Kana get to him.  Again.
A knock on the door interrupted his self-flagellation, Hiromu hurrying to answer the summons and letting in Shingo, Naito and Bushi, and holding open the door as he saw Evil pulling up the curb.   After a brief huddle in the doorway, with Sanada pretending he couldn’t hear them perfectly, Naito decreed nobody was to bring up the K name and they were just to work on getting Sanada back to his normal self.
Cases of beer in hand Shingo set them out on the coffee table, clapping Sanada on the shoulder as he settled on the loveseat across from him.  Hiromu perched on the armrest of the couch while Evil sat next to Sanada with Naito on the other side.   Bushi joined Shingo on the loveseat, silence descending over the room until Evil spoke up.
“I’m tired of this bitch messing with you.”
“Evil!” Naito said sharply in reprimand.
“What? I didn’t say her name.”  Evil said.
“Don’t treat me like a baby.”  Sanada grumbled.  “I’m not made of glass.”
“When it comes to Kana you are.” Bushi said.  “I don’t know why this girl is so deep in your fucking head, but every time she crosses your path you end up in pieces.”
Sanada hung his head knowing Bushi was right.  Too many times the past year they had watched him fall apart because of this woman.
“What the fuck are you doing Hiromu?”  Evil snapped jerking his head away from Hiromu, wincing as Hiromu grabbed a handful of his hair and held on tight.
“Stop fussing, I’m braiding your hair,”  Hiromu said tugging Evil’s head back in place, smiling happily as Evil slumped in resignation, slowly separating the hair into strands.
Shingo stood, handing bottles of beer to each of the men as they slowly relaxed into conversation.  Despite Naito’s best efforts the conversation naturally veered back to Kana and the encounter with her tonight.  Evil was the only one not contributing to the conversation, begrudgingly letting Hiromu make intricate braids in his hair while he stewed in anger.  Despite tonight’s encounter being a coincidence Evil wasn’t happy.  The last time Sanada had crossed paths with Kana, Evil had warned her what would happen if she didn’t stay away.  Even if she hadn’t intended to, she had still broken his edict.  He couldn’t let that go.

Five headcanons for Tadashi, Hiro, and Fred!
Tadashi:
-Secretly loves all things cute and fluffy (Hiro) and learned sewing from Honey Lemon by practicing making plushies.
-Loves FOB, MCR, PATD (had a bit of an early 2000′s emo phase in high school and never fully grew out of it, much to the surprise of many people who don’t know him that well and mistakenly think he’s a totally plain vanilla straight-A teacher’s pet XD)
-Obsessed with Disney, totally had a major crush on a lot of the princes and male heroes growing up (always dreamed of Peter Pan showing up and flying him off to Neverland as a kid)
-Has something of an anxiety disorder (should really have that looked into but it mostly manifests itself as being an over achiever and going all out on school projects *see Baymax test videos* so unfortunately it tends to get indirectly encouraged by well meaning people.)
-Is actually near sighted, he has nerd glasses but he mostly just wears them at home when his contacts are bothering him
Hiro:
-Addicted to gummy bears (will do just about anything for them)
-Most of his clothes are hand-me-downs from Tadashi (he secretly loves getting to follow in Tadashi’s footsteps, even just wearing his clothes, but will flat out deny it if anyone mentions it)
-Needs minimal sleep, can pull all nighters with little effect on him, but when he finally crashes he crashes *hard*
-At least when he was younger was fairly sensitive to sugar and would easily get “sugar drunk” (meaning he’d get super hyper but then would turn into a total cuddle monkey with Tadashi when the sugar started to wear off)
-Had a weak immune system as a kid and was in the hospital a lot, ergo why he’s still pretty small and skinny, and why Tadashi was inspired to make a robotic nurse that kids would feel safe going to since Hiro developed a pretty bad fear of doctors and hospitals after everything he went through (even though the doctors were helping his brain associates them with feeling sick and nasty medicines)
Fred:
-Best friends with Tadashi almost since birth (their parents went to school together and worked together) but they were separated for a period of time when Fred’s parents sent him to private boarding school until Fred wore them down to let him go to regular public high school at home. When he and Tadashi first saw each other after all those years they almost didn’t recognize each other--Fred actually saw Hiro first and mistook him for Tadashi, which led to some interesting misunderstandings when Tadashi saw someone he thought was a total stranger being far too friendly with his little brother XD They quickly sorted it out, though, and after that were practically attached at the hip!
-Is on the ASD spectrum (see: special interest in superheroes and comics, canon stimming if you pay attention to his movements in the movie, pendant around his neck could be a chew pendant?)
-Prolific writer of gay fanfiction for all of his ships and posting it on AO3? It’s more likely than you think!
-One of Fred’s dad’s businesses is in some way connected to Megazod comics which is how Fred has so much exclusive merch/knows so much about the comics
-Growing up Fred had a pet lizard he named Fredzilla.

So in honor of the Fruits Basket reboot who would you say are your fave Furuba characters and ships (canon) and why? Least fave Furuba characters and canon ships and why?
Hello! Thank you for this ask, anon!
I honestly don’t want to play favorites because I love literally all of them. Except who am I kidding. I’ve been a hoe for Kyo since I was like 10. It’s been 14 years later and I’m still a hoe for Kyo. *Facepalm*
But no seriously. I love Kyo. He’s the character I can kind of relate to the most, the second being Tohru. Kyo is filled with a lot of self-loathing, the origins of which can be traced from a very nasty, abusive childhood (disclaimer alert, I didn’t have a nasty abusive childhood but I have experienced my own struggles with acceptance). Children grow from the kind of environment they’re born to and the way they’re treated. I love kids and that’s why ಥ Ĺ̯ ಥ Kyo’s flashbacks really killed me.
Kyo is a good kitty. When Haru got lost going back from the bathroom in elementary school, Kyo fuckin held his hand and led him back to the classroom because he is a good fuckin kitty. Kyo wanted acceptance, and maybe love and affection too. But he was treated like shit. Because he was treated like shit, he thought of himself so lowly Tohru’s sincerity at wanting to be his friend surprised and probably freaked the fuck out of him. I’m kind of like that too. People with zero self-esteem will struggle with every compliment, every form of affection or attention throw their way. I still do. And Kyo does too. He’s a tsundere within reason lol. A lot of people have said this in other posts scattered on Tumblr, but Kyo struggles with accepting Tohru’s gestures because no one has ever been genuine to him before except for Kazuma (and Kyoko).
And that’s why Kyoru is my ultimate favorite ship. Kyo is like an angry storm, and Tohru is the mountain that knows how to withstand it, waiting patiently until the sun peeks back out from the grey clouds. Tohru doesn’t change Kyo, and Kyo doesn’t change for Tohru. Kyo changes because of her. These nuances are important because they show us the nature of Kyo and Tohru’s relationship.
Tohru is not a girl who jumps into people’s lives and fixes them. (Although spoiler alert, at the latter part of the manga, she actively tries to fix Kyo’s curse). People fix themselves because of her. Yuki explains this well when he realizes how he really feels about her. Tohru was like a springboard that helped him start building a normal life. Tohru is inherently kind. Before anything else, I’d like to say that Tohru’s kindness is not a fault of crappy, unrealistic writing. Tohrus exist in this world too. People who aren’t judgmental, people who are forgiving of all your faults, people who sacrifice themselves for the ones they love without protest, people who are genuinely kind and accepting. My best friend is a Tohru and I will Die for her.
Kyo did not change for Tohru. He changed not just for Tohru, but for himself too. I think that’s important to point out. When you change for someone, it means you want them to like you. But the change that happens in Kyo is much deeper than just for the purpose of Tohru liking him back. He healed himself for himself and for her. Towards the latter part of the manga, when he was already attempting to get his life back on track before pursuing her again, we can argue that he did try to get his shit together for her. But the Kyo at this point in the manga has already drastically changed from the Angsty Teen we saw at the beginning. He’s a better version of himself by now–a person who has come to terms with who he is, even though there are still people unable to move on. Sometimes you can’t always change the way people think about you, but what you can change is the way you look at yourself.
And that’s why I say Kyo changed because of her. Her unconditional love and kindness let him forgive himself just a little. She helped him realize what he was and what he wasn’t. And like what Yuki said, maybe all we need is to just know that there’s one person out there who can accept us for who we are. That is Tohru to Kyo. Tohru is one of the very few handful of people who treated Kyo like a human being, who made him feel that being the cat wasn’t a sin.
At the same time, Kyo is GOOD for Tohru. The fault of being a “giving” person is that you give so much to others you forget to leave some for yourself. All Tohru knew is how to service other people’s needs. She cooks and cleans at home. She prefers doing things for other people. For instance, whenever she visits shishou, she usually ends up doing all the work, even though she’s a visitor. This isn’t a problem. There are people who derive happiness from servicing others. But I guess this affected the way she thought about herself. Because she prefers tending to others, it feels weird when it’s her turn to be taken care of. When she failed the test Yuki tutored her for, she took it so badly she ended up crying and getting sick. She hates being a burden to others. And that’s why she masks her sadness in fake happiness, like when Hiro had made that comment about her mother at the vacation house.
At this point, Kyo is Officially Attached to Tohru. He thinks about Tohru’s wellbeing probably all the time, because hey this is the person who still loves me even after I kind of treated her badly during the first few parts of the manga and even after the whole crazy chapter 33 ordeal. She’s precious to me and I want her to never be sad and always be happy. And that’s why he notices. He notices All Of It. All her little habits, the changes in her expressions, whenever she feels sad or uncomfortable. Whenever something is bothering her. Whenever there’s something she needs. Whenever she’s not there. There are so many instances of this scattered all over the manga so it’s hard to cite examples. (Honestly I’m 100% Kyo because I don’t usually trust people and when people gain my trust I turn from bitch who the fuck- to Bitch your happiness is my number 1 priority). Kyo wants to take care of her.He wants to be that shoulder she can cry on because he loves her and he wants her to be happy. He will do anything for her and will let her do anything to him, i.e. hit him in the face with her bag lol, if it would make her feel better. Talking to and simply being Kyo also makes Tohru super happy. She forgets what she’s sad about whenever she’s with him. Like dam. I love this ship fuck
And that, kids, ends my TED talk about why I’m a hoe for Kyo and Kyoru.
As for least favorite characters. It goes without saying that Kyo’s father can buRN IN HELL BITCH
But in all seriousness, I try not to have, like, a “least favorite.” So I hope you don’t mind if I refrain from answering that latter question ᕦ( ͡͡~͜ʖ ͡° )ᕤ
