— oh and by the way im married (zhongli) .
synopsis !! zhongli neglects to inform his friends that he's married.
contains !! they/them reader but referred to as wife, comedic dialogue
Z H O N G L I
Perhaps it's the fact that you've been married for centuries that informing others didn't seem to be a priority for Zhongli.
It wasn't obvious either. He had his day job and you had yours. To regular couples, the amount of distance you two spend would be a little strange, but time is something you have in abundance so it didn't really matter when you spend a few days apart doing your day jobs.
It was Hutao who brought it up the on the evening's Lantern Rite dinner.
"Aiyaya, it seems like everybody alive and dead has a date for this year's lantern rite."
"Hahaha! And here we are celebrating a feast with new and old friends. It doesn't sound like much of a loss to me." Venti laugjs, pouring himself a drink that threatens to overflow from his hand.
"I'm not saying it's a loss, I'm simply wondering wouldn't some of you want to spend the night with a special someone?" She smirks, eyes scanning the group. Chongyun coughs into his cup as Xiao averts his gaze from the troublemaker.
"If you're asking for my opinion, I'd say everyone here is quite special to me," Lumine smiles warmly before glancing at the two archons and yaksha, "I'm sure there's still time for dating in the future. We're not that old."
"Well. . ." Hutao turns to Zhongli. He raises a brow, placing down his cup.
"May I ask why you're staring at me, Director Hu?"
"No reason~ It's just, as your boss, of course I'm a little bit concerned. Aren't you wasting your youth by not going out on dates, mister Zhongli? I'm sure there's a line of Liyuens who would love to–"
A burst of laughter comes from the green bard. "Oh, him? On a Lantern Rite date with someone else? (Name) would surely kill him."
"(Name)?" Everyone questions.
"Huh? He didn't tell you?" Venti tilts his head.
Zhongli coughs, "Ah. . . Please don't be concerned about my dating life, Director Hu. After all, I am already married."
Silence.
A cup drops.
Tea spills (literally).
Then,
"Married?!" The restaurant shakes as Hutao and Lumine jolt upright, hands slamming the table.
"Married." Zhongli confirms.
"What! For how long? When? What's their name? Why have you never–"
Zhongli hushes, trying to calm his boss from jumping over the table. His face dusts a light pink, perhaps embarrassed by the whole ordeal.
"For a few. . . years now. As you know, they're (Name). And as for why I never mentioned my wife. . ." He glances at the crowd, ". . . I simply forgot."
"You. . . forgot," Xingqiu slowly repeats.
"Yes, it seems I've forgotten to inform everyone. Then again, is it not obvious that I'm a married man?"
Chongyun covers his face in his hands, processing the whole ordeal, "Thinking back. . . mister Zhongli always had a domestic kind of aura. It seems so obvious now."
"Wait, wait, wait! How come I didn't know about this? We work together almost everyday! And why does Venti know! Didn't you two just met! Do you even have a ring?" Hutao interjects, flabbergasted as Zhongli and Venti freezes.
In truth, he does have a ring. One he carved himself made of only the most precious of jade and metal. It has rested under his glove for centuries—
Under his glove also hides his draconic arms, golden veins against dark brown, almost scale-like skin. Proof of a entity greater than human.
"Ehe. . . about that," Venti nervously looks away, "I've actually. . . met his wife before!" He covers up, voice laced with enthusiasm.
"Yes, yes, my wife is quite fond of Mondstadt's songs. They've frequently visited the nation before."
"And you don't come along?" Xiangling asks.
"I don't."
The group blinks.
"And what about the ring? I never see you wear a wedding ring." Hutao narrows her eyes.
"That's because I don't wear it." He answers bluntly.
". . . and you never introduced them to us because. . .?" Lumine questions.
"Because . . . I haven't had the time to?"
Hutao rests back on her chair, her eyes glazed in judgment, "No offense mister Zhongli, but you seem like a terrible husband. If you don't get your act straight, I'd say your marriage won't last."
His jaw drops. Venti laughs.

“This disciple greets his Shizun-“ Luo Binghe began, surrounded by a gaggle of Huan Hua Palace disciples, all glaring, before trailing off in confusion. “…there’s two of you.”
“What an observation.” Shen Qingqiu said with a scowl. He looked Luo Binghe over, before looking away with a huff. “Still the same, I see.”
“Don’t talk about Luo-Shixiong that way-“ One of the disciples behind Luo Binghe snapped, only to be cut off.
“Now now!” Shen Yuan cut in, stepping between Shen Qingqiu and everyone else. He had spent this long trying to fix Shen Qingqiu’s reputation, and it was like dragging a feral cat, kicking and screaming.
Having made up with Yue Qingyuan helped. A little.
“There is no need for this hostility.” He continued, lightly waving his fan. “We’re all here to fix the plague that has descended here, are we not?”
“…there’s two of you.” Luo Binghe said again, eyes wide as he looked back and forth. Shen Yuan paused, confused, before continuing.
“Yes. I’m Shen Yuan, his brother. …And the one that has been acting as Shen Qingqiu for the past few years, while my brother was in seclusion.”
“There’s two of you.” Luo Binghe said a third time, eyes starting to shine. Shen Qingqiu blinked, before making a face and turning away.
“I am not dealing with this.” He snapped as he walked, robes flowing. “You deal with your disciple.”
“Oh, well, uh,” Shen Yuan stammered, losing his ‘Peak Lord Composure’ for a moment, without Shen Qingqiu’s natural bitch face. “Of course this Shizun greets his disciple-“
“I can still be your disciple?” Luo Binghe asked, excitedly. Shen Yuan could almost see his tail wagging. A disciple behind him started to argue, only to be shushed as Luo Binghe held up a hand. “Be quiet for a moment. Shizun is speaking.”
“Binghe!” Shen Yuan snapped, without thinking about it. “Don’t be rude!”
“I’m sorry Shizun!” Binghe said, not sorry at all. A different disciple scowled.
“Shen Qingqiu did something to Luo-Shixiong-“
“Nothing has been done to Binghe-“
“I told you to stop talking-“
“Don’t speak to Master Shen that way!” Gongyi Xiao spoke up at last, scolding his fellow disciples. “Show him some respect!”
Shen Yuan sighed as he saw the dark aura starting to form over Binghe. Well, on one hand, he was afraid of dying violently, but one the other, there was only one thing he could do here.
—————-
“What did you do.” Mu Qingfang asked, deadpan, as he finally looked up from his workstation. Shen Yuan laughed nervously, holding up a marked hand.
“I might have gotten infected?”
“Shen-Shixiong.” He said, exhausted. “I’ll get to that. I was referring to the man behind you.”
“Oh.” Shen Yuan glanced behind him. Binghe was sitting at a table, staring down Shen Qingqiu, who was glaring at him darkly. “It’s my old disciple. He’s not dead after all.”
“That’s a demon.” Liu Qingge said, eyes narrowed.
“No, that’s my disciple. Jeez, Liu-Shidi, I know children can be heathens but to call them demons? No wonder you don’t have any-“
“He has a mark on his forehead!” Liu Qingge snapped.
“A tattoo. Quite the rebellious phase, really.”
Mu Qingfang sighed, and then went back to work.

EYES SET ON YOU .ᐟ
Tumblr media
✩ — xiao realizes that his eyes were set on you the whole time. if it was since you made your entrance to the party or if it was since you met fifteen years ago, he doesn't really know.
✩ — prompt: felicity – the most chased after of the season asks you for a dance. (another entry for @xianyoon's event yayyyy)
✩ — includes: xiao x f!reader. fluff. cw: alcohol consumption (again,, it never gets old with me sawry) but there's only like two details about it, ooc!xiao pls i have no idea if i wrote him well during the second half. wc: 4164. kuni is reader's twin so you're technically the daughter of ei in this. some liyue and inazuma characters mentioned kinda. slight dual pov?? i guess ... yeah that's pretty much it. no beta i die like xiao almost did during the perilous trail quest tbh !!!
Tumblr media
a prince should be confident, courageous, sophisticated, and dignified.
prince xiao checks out on most of those things. if anything, the townspeople in the kingdom of liyue take pride in their beloved prince. king zhongli is proud of his son as well as his older sister, princess ganyu. however, out of all the four traits stated above, there’s only one that prince xiao doesn’t count himself in: confidence. he isn’t referring to confidence when it comes to his abilities; heavens no, prince xiao knows and is proud of his capabilities (although not verbally; he had always been the reserved type of man even when he was a child) in terms of strength and wit. it’s more like the crowned prince of liyue doubts his abilities in terms of being sociable. having connections is a crucial thing for a man like him who’s currently in line for the throne after his father, as these connections could aid him when he takes king zhongli’s place one day.
marriage, of course, was an inevitable thing. it’s a requirement, a demand that needs to be fulfilled, whether one likes it or not. king zhongli pities his son that he couldn’t escape from this predicament, but the king just assures his son that he should marry someone that he loves. having a loveless marriage has more cons than pros anyway. he wants his son to be happy, this is the least he could do for him.
…as well as the ball that he held in hopes of his son meeting someone of his interest.
it has been a short while since the ball started. many of the young women around xiao’s age had decided to make their move, yet all were fruitless attempts as xiao had already turned them down. they’d put on a forced smile, walking away but as soon as the prince’s back faces them, you could see their grip getting tighter around the fan in their hand if you squinted. xiao retreats back to his father's side, sighing in exhaustion. his social energy wasn’t really made for posh events like these. he looks at the crowd below, catching a glimpse of his sister talking to her friends and entertaining other guests. (xiao had wondered at some point why he was in line for the throne rather than his older sister, who is more capable of ruling than he is, but he soon realizes that it is how the royal hierarchy works.)
his eyes shifts themselves towards the entrance. he’s not surprised that people are still arriving at this hour because, as far as xiao could recall, his father had invited a few other kingdoms to this ball as well. yet xiao could vividly feel his eyes widen as he saw a familiar face that had made it’s entrance—yours.
and all of a sudden, xiao suddenly finds himself being seven years old all over again.
— — — — — — — —
the young boy hid behind his father, his head peeking out ever so slightly as he eyed the child in front of him. it was a young girl who looked just around the same age as him. she was rather coy as well, as she clung to her mother’s hand. xiao looked at the child’s mother. he had heard of her before, of course. queen ei of inazuma—his father told him that she would be visiting today along with his daughter and son. though he doesn’t really see the son present at the moment. perhaps he didn’t join?
“my apologies for being a tad bit late, king zhongli. kunikuzushi really didn’t want to accompany us.” he heard queen ei sighed. well, that answers one of his questions, at least. king zhongli laughs at her words, “it’s quite alright. there are times when children could get rebellious against their own parents.”
“rebellious? i prefer to call it disobedient.”
his father chuckles again before reaching a hand behind him, patting the seven year old xiao on the head. “xiao, i would like you to meet (name). she’s queen ei’s daughter and is just the same age as you.” he gently says. zhongli knows that his son is not particularly fond of socializing, but he tries to get him out of his shell bit by bit. xiao steadily steps out, slowly stepping forward in front of his father. “(name), i’d like you to meet xiao. i told you that you’d be meeting him today, didn’t i?” queen ei softly says to her daughter. the child silently nods and lets go of her mother’s hands. she approached the young boy, lending out her hand for him to shake.
she stuttered in her words, clearly nervous. “i-i’m (name).” xiao reaches out and receives her hand, saying his name in return as he lets go. “well then xiao, why don’t you take (name) to the castle garden for the meantime? me and her mother are just going to have an important chat.” xiao heard his father. he nods in acknowledgement, and this time it was his turn to reach out his hand for the girl to take. (name) looks back to her mother for approval, eyes asking for permission to allow her to join xiao. “you can go; i’ll come and pick you up as soon as we’re finished.” she says, giving her daughter a little head pat.
hand in hand, xiao led her to the castle’s garden, where the gardeners planted all sorts of beautiful flowers located in liyue. xiao immediately leads the girl to where the qingxin flowers are located. but he doesn’t say anything when they get there—he doesn’t know what to say. should he state how this is actually his favorite flower? but he thinks that boys having favorite flowers isn’t allowed. should he say that this flower reminded him of her? the white flowers swayed against the light breeze in front of them.
“this… this is called a qingxin flower.” he starts. he doesn’t really know what he should say. might as well start with telling you what this flower is, right? “it’s pretty..” you say, admiring it. a fresh and minty scent wafts over your sense of smell. you’re pretty, xiao thinks. but he swallows his words instead and blushes at the thought. but it’s true, you are pretty. you had that small sparkle in your eyes that xiao finds himself captivated by.
your time continued on with you and xiao admiring other flowers such as glaze lilies and silk flowers until your mother and king zhongli entered the castle garden, a sign that their important chat is now over—and that (name) needs to head home. she bids xiao farewell with a small wave and a smile, while her other hand has a qingxin flower in her hold (xiao gave it to her as a little souvenir) and xiao finds himself doing the same. there were no actual goodbyes said, as they both silently hoped that they would cross paths once more.
— — — — — — — —
the flashback ends when he hears your name being announced. the crowd below him whispered, as your family had already caught the attention of the ton. well, no one could really blame them. xiao noticed numerous things already. your hair had grown much longer, you had grown in terms of height too, and your strides as you made your entrance had confidence in them. this time, xiao noticed how much you took after your mother in terms of aura. queen ei, who’s aging like quite the fine wine, leads you and your brother, kunikuzushi, as you continue walking inside.
it has been fifteen years since xiao last saw you; your last meeting with each other was when they visited—the day you met. of course, you weren’t the little (name) that he met when he was seven anymore. even your brother had taken in some changes, xiao notices. he had spent a fair amount of time with your brother when he went abroad to study and train at the age of eight. this is also a reason why xiao didn’t really have the chance to meet each other again. kunikuzushi had a stern look on his face, while you had a calm one.
king zhongli smiles at the sight of the royal family of inazuma making their entrance. it has been a while since he and queen ei met, as their busy lives as rulers of each of their respective kingdoms are quite demanding. “why don’t you go down and greet them on my behalf?” zhongli muses. xiao simply nods at him, making his way towards kunikuzushi first—after all, he knows him more than he knows you.
“kuni.” he greets his old friend as he approaches the two of you. their mother had her on business to take care of, he supposes, as he takes notice of her sudden absence by her children’s side. “ah, alatus. it’s a pleasure to see you again.” he says. you looked at him in confusion and said, "i’m surprised you’re friendly with other people, brother.” kunikuzushi looked at you, offended by your remark. “sister, what do you simply take me as?” he replies with a forced smile since they were in public at the moment. you ignored your brother, doing a curtsy as you greeted xiao. “it’s wonderful to see you again, prince alatus.” she says.
again? so you remember that time too. “again? since when the hell did you two meet?” kunikuzushi asked. “around fifteen years ago, when mother visited the kingdom of liyue to discuss something important with king zhongli. you were throwing a random tantrum that day and didn’t want to accompany us. also do mind your words, brother. we’re in public for goodness sake,"  you replied, scolding kunikuzushi.
“and you don’t really need to point out how i had a tantrum back then. i was seven!”
“we were both seven, if i may remind you.”
xiao watches the twins interact with each other. it was different from how he and his older sister would interact. but nonetheless, xiao is somewhat glad that there’s someone in kunikuzushi’s life who could match him in verbal terms. “whatever, how are you faring as of late, alatus?” his friend shifts the topic, giving you an eyeroll, to which you return with a slight jab to his side. xiao then grabs a drink from a refreshment table nearby, taking a slight sip. the taste of alcohol makes contact with his taste buds as he slightly smacks his lips after. “i’ve been...” he trails off. how has he been lately? xiao doesn’t recall. he’s been busy with all of these ball preparations and the mental preparation he needs to take when he is to be married.
“well. i’ve been quite well.” he finishes. “i’m glad to hear that. i heard you’re looking for a bride this season?” kunikuzushi then asks. “ah, yes. my father thinks it’s about time i start to settle down.”
“what’s the rush? we’re only at the age of twenty and two.”
“he isn’t pressuring me to get myself married away, kuni. but he wants me to start looking now, hence why this ball was held.” xiao sighs. kunikuzushi looks at his friend in pity; well, he isn’t any different. marriage has seemed to be a recent topic as well for queen ei and her son. “excuse me, gentlemen, as i see a friend quite close. i wish the best for you, prince alatus. and brother, watch your behavior, will you?” you then said, stepping away. “hey, what do you—” the other sibling swallowed his words back down his throat, not wanting to suddenly raise his voice.
“god, what does she take me for?”
“someone not trustworthy enough to be left alone, as it seems.”
“shut it, alatus.”
— — — — — — — —
alatus then encounters you again.
you were alone this time. and xiao had just escaped the horrific clutches of mothers showing off their daughters to him. “it’s nice to see you again.” xiao then greets you, taking the spot beside you. “mhm, same to you.” the silence wasn’t awkward—it was rather serene. both of you stood there, hiding away from the crowd. perhaps you weren’t someone who finds socializing all fun, preferring to be in your own little bubble instead. or perhaps you were also hiding yourself from the other nobles that have attempted to make a move on you.
“what brings you into a corner like this?” he decided to ask.
“oh, it’s... you know, not every noble is necessarily a pleasure to be in the company of, if you get what i mean.” you replied, choosing your words rather carefully.
in your peripheral vision, you see xiao then nod in agreement. so my second guess was right, he thinks. “honestly speaking, i promised my mother that i’d dance with at least one noble tonight. she wants me to step out of my shell, per se, since whenever i accompany her to balls like this, i usually just glue myself to her side.”
“at least you find yourself accompanying your mother either way. i don’t really escort my father a lot.”
“really? and didn’t you make your debut when you were just eighteen? that’s around four years ago already. “didn’t you make your debut at the same age? we’re simply allies in this boat, princess.” xiao then shoots back. you went blank for a moment, processing what he had called you. well, you were a princess. he wasn’t wrong about it, but why did it sound... something different when it rolled off his tongue? “touché.”
maybe it was the alcohol that he consumed taking it’s effect on him, as xiao felt rather bold now, making a smooth step to stand in front of you. he wasn’t that drunk, but maybe it’s some sort of liquid courage. “well, if you promised your mother for her to be an audience of you dancing with a noble...” he reaches out a hand towards you. the sight is familiar—and this is when you started to realize that a lot of things have changed between you and alatus over the past fifteen years. “may i have the pleasure of being your dance partner tonight?”
you take his hand. “you may.”
widening eyes and hushed gasps weren’t everything you noticed as you and xiao casually made your way to the dance floor. kunikuzushi had his eyebrow immediately raised as he watched your arm linked with xiao’s walking together, pausing himself as he was about to take a sip from his drink in hand. “well, would you look at that?” king zhongli hums in amusement from above, queen ei turning her head to see what he’s looking at.
“my, well, i certainly knew she had taken a liking to your son when they were children, but i didn’t expect it to continue into adulthood.” the queen says.
a new song had just started as xiao took the lead. they swayed—to the left, to the right, forward, and around. with one hand holding yours and the other on your waist, he twirls you around. he then catches you in his hold once more, pulling you close. close enough to hear your steady breathing, close enough to admire your face, and close enough to get himself lost in your eyes.
the close proximity aided you in observing just how much had changed with xiao over the past fifteen years. he had grown taller; that is obviously for one. he wasn’t that shy anymore, as he is now rather demure. his eyes still fascinated you with their unique shade of yellow, as his pupils were sharp—it reminded you of a cat’s. his hair had a few highlights of a lighter shade of green, in contrast to his main hair color.
you then realize that everything has changed.
the scowling of both men and women envied the two individuals dancing in the center. after all, they technically lost. the other women had lost to the princess of inazuma and the other men had lost to the prince of liyue—they wouldn’t dare to even come between them. because as much as they would hate to admit it, both of you were a perfect match. you complement each other well.
then, something xiao had been concerned about for some time happened: the part where he would have to lift her up. it may have been the proximity, the intimacy, or just the fear of letting her fall because it would be difficult for her to stay upright in such heels if his hand slipped. the lady gave a little yelp and fell back to the ground, thankfully without breaking a bone, but there was no time to consider anything more despite the slow music. xiao raised her up with an erratic act of trust.
“what a strong gentleman you are.” you whispered in his ear, commending him for the successful dance move. all eyes were on you now, as everyone was too hooked onto your performance. it was alluring—you were alluring, xiao thinks. the dance then comes to an end as you bow to each other as a sign of respect. he guided you away, and you quickly sneaked in a kiss to his cheek when no one was looking, not even xiao. his eyes widened as he felt your lips come into contact with his cheek. he then raises his hand to feel the spot your lips landed on.
xiao feels something in his chest, something rather warm.
— — — — — — — —
after all this time, xiao is still not the one for long conversations. he prefers to indulge in a comfortable silence rather than spend his time in a bustling crowd. so naturally, xiao finds his way into the castle’s garden. he can’t really withdraw from the party; the season has just begun. maybe give him a good two or three more parties and maybe xiao could find a way out to leave early. his cheeks are greeted by the cold and gentle breeze of the night as he steps foot into the garden.
fifteen years is enough time for one to mature and grow up. you and xiao are aware of the dark side that society holds. but one thing hasn’t really changed: his love for qingxin flowers. xiao learned as he grew up. it’s that boys are actually allowed to have favorite flowers. (could you really blame him for thinking otherwise? he was just seven.) making his way to where the qingxin flowers are, he stopped in his tracks as he noticed that he wasn’t apparently alone in the area.
the lightly dimmed lights that surrounded the garden are what helped xiao see that it was you who was standing there, admiring the qingxin flowers. you seemed to have sensed that someone was behind you, turning around to see who it was, and much to your relief, it was xiao. “prince alatus.” you greeted him again with a curtsy. “princess (name).” he greeted in return with a bow and walked closer to stand beside you.
“it feels nostalgic to be here again.” you said. xiao stays silent, preferring to listen. “do you remember? you bought me here when we were seven. i remember myself being very shy back then.” you continued, laughing as the memory replays in your head. xiao tries to construct a reply. “mhm, do you know what a qingxin flower symbolizes?” he then asks. “not really. what is it?”
“affection and happiness.” xiao softly smiles. it was just a small one, as he reached out his hand to touch the flower before him. you glance at him, admiring the look on his face.
and suddenly, you found yourself being seven years old again.
— — — — — — — —
she was nervous. very nervous. as far as she could recall, this was her first time meeting someone outside of their kingdom. she really, really wants to be friends with this xiao boy—she’s heard a few from her mother. so she doesn’t really want to mess up, but she doesn’t even know how to approach him!
as soon as they arrived, she first looked at the tall man in front of them. that should be… king zhongli! she thought that his description fit the one that her mother gave her when she described him. but she looks at her surroundings for xiao. she doesn’t really know what he looks like, since her mother only told her that they’re of the same age and that he’s a nice kid. but she soon notices something behind king zhongli—something dark green? she watched him as he peeked his head out from behind his father and joy washed over her. he’s here! she thought.
although her expressions don’t really show it, she was overjoyed when she realized that she wasn’t alone. perhaps it’s a common feeling amongst children whenever they encounter someone their age, there’s a familiar force that pushes them to befriend that person. she was no different from that, of course, as this is how she feels towards the boy in front of her now.
after they had been introduced, xiao was holding her hand and directing her to their garden. she took in everything she saw as they walked past, including paintings, decorations, and other things on display. they stopped in front of a small field of pretty white flowers. “this… this is a qingxin flower.” she hears the boy beside her say. a qingxin flower? that’s a bit hard to pronounce… she thinks. as she leans closer to inspect the flower further, it’s minty scent meets her sense of smell. “it’s pretty…” she lets out.
xiao picks one qingxin flower; there’s apparently four on one stem. xiao then takes a flower from those four. she silently watches him, wondering what he’s going to do with it. as xiao stepped closer, she held her breath. she feels the familiar feeling of a flower being tucked behind her ear. she reaches out one hand to touch it. “m-my dad always told me to be nice to girls. but i don’t really know how but i hope that’s okay.” xiao then says, looking away as she giggles at the sight of his ears turning red.
“thank you, xiao!”
while she was on the way home with her mother, she had a huge smile on her face as she gently caressed the qingxin flower’s petals with her fingers. “did you have fun with xiao today, honey?” her mother asks. “mhm! he gave me this flower; isn’t it pretty, mommy?” she exclaims. the little girl then tells her mother about what happened while they were in the garden. queen ei smiles to herself at the sight of her daughter being enthusiastic about her interactions with prince xiao.
— — — — — — — —
deja vu seemed to take over as you saw xiao pick a qingxin flower. even more when you watch him take another flower from the four. you were replaying the memory of the day you met inside your head but surely you’re back in reality, right?
you breath hitched when xiao stepped closer, tucking it behind your ear again.
“are you perhaps taking me on a trip to memory lane tonight?” you chuckled. xiao simply smiles in return as he steps back. maybe, he swallows the response down his throat. “i realized something tonight.” he then says. “hm? and what might that be?”
xiao was never the type who would say a lot of things. he usually kept his thoughts to himself, hiding them in the back of his mind and dismissing it right away. but for once, he finds himself rambling. “that despite the fact i’m rather modest or demure and the fact that i’m not really an individual who is up for long conversations, i find myself enjoying sharing a silence that’s covered in tranquility. i am a mundane man, (name), yet in spite of that, i can’t help but yearn for an individual like you to accompany me for the rest of my life.” surprised at him for dropping the formalities, you still listened.
“i—forget that. my apologies. i doubt there is anyone who could compare for a woman like yourself in the first place. we aren’t the same seven year olds that spent their afternoon in this exact garden anymore. a lot—if not everything—has changed between us. so let me be selfish for once: would you accept my invitation for a mundane life? you don’t have to feel obligated to give a response now.” you took another qingxin flower from its stem; only two remain now. it was your turn to step closer.
“i won’t give my answer now, xiao.” you start, dropping the formalities with him as well. “this is all rather shocking, after all, but promise this: once summer comes around, there will be a summer festival held inazuma as it does every year. can you promise me your attendance? the sight of the fireworks prepared by the naganohara family is certainly one to commend.”
“i promise.”
xiao then realizes that he had his eyes set on you this whole time—whether the past fifteen years are counted or not, that’s for him to keep.

KH X GI Relationship Squares
(There's more ships than these, these are just the ones I can make square charts out of)
Tumblr media
Neuvillette -> Wriothesley: A very reliable friend who he's more than happy to go to for advice.
Wriothesley -> Neuvillette: Not so secretly down horrendous. Will never confess first though so he just hopes Neuvi notices his flirting.
Neuvillette -> Arlecchino: Still a bit wary of her, especially since he figured out she threatened Furina, but once those two worked things out he mostly got past it and the two are friends.
Arlecchino -> Neuvillette: Wonders how he put up with Furina's act for so long, but highly respects his dedication.
Arlecchino -> Furina: Couldn't stand her at first, but after learning of her sacrifices she began respecting her and now they're on okay terms.
Furina -> Arlecchino: Terrified of her a lot of the time but also wondering how the hell she's so hot. Glad they're somewhat friends now so she can crush without feeling like an idiot.
Furina -> Neuvillette: A bit awkward around him at the moment due to wanting to avoid all aspects of her time as an Archon, but still cares about him deeply.
Neuvillette -> Furina: Always cared despite his annoyances, but now he knows the truth he just wants to do whatever he can to make her happy.
Wriothesley -> Arlecchino: Doesn't like Fatui in general but he can't deny how much she helped Fontaine.
Arlecchino -> Wriothesley: Impressed by the work he did to Meropide, but after hearing how he tormented with Lyney just for fun to the point it activated his darkness she's been resisting the urge to go down there and slap him.
Wriothesley -> Furina: Doesn’t know her too well but thinks she’s nice from the little he’s seen
Furina -> Wriothesley: Doesn’t know him that well but Neuvillette talks about him fondly and that’s enough for him to get her seal of approval
(More under cut)
(Also probably a bad post to have this on but please support me on ko-fi here )
Tumblr media
(Context, Ei get's exiled for a bit after the Archon quest and when she's allowed back she and Ayato are almost dragged into an arranged political marriage to keep things stable, so the gang, led by Miko and Thoma, have to stop the wedding. They do, but Miko repurpose's it into a wedding for her and Ei.)
Ei -> Ayato: Overall thinks he's pleasant and dependable, but their relationship is strictly professional.
Ayato -> Ei: Glad she's finally ending the Decree's holding Inazuma back, but sweet Celestia never make them almost get married again-
Ei -> Miko: Never stopped loving her but prior to them getting remarried thought that Miko hated her.
Miko -> Ei: Missed her dearly for those 500 ish years but would rather die than admit it, the wedding ended up being the push she needed to finally admit she loved her.
Miko -> Thoma: Not as fun to tease as Gorou but still fun, has more respect for him now.
Thoma -> Miko: Still a bit afraid of her but nowhere near as much.
Thoma -> Ayato: Loves but is worried about how the nobles would react to them being together, main reason their relationship was a secret to the point the arranged marriage almost happened.
Ayato -> Thoma: Loves him to the ends of the earth, only kept the relationship secret due to Thoma's worries, but once he gatecrashed the wedding Ayato had no problem finally proclaiming his love.
Ayato -> Miko: Worried she's a bad influence on Ayaka but outside of that genuinely enjoys her company.
Miko -> Ayato: Known him since he was little, glad there's someone in Inazuma who can keep up with her.
Ei -> Thoma: Barely knows he exists but is happy for him and Ayato.
Thoma -> Ei: Has complicated feelings about and does his best to just stay out of her way to not make things awkward.
Tumblr media
Lumine -> Xiao: Fell hard the second she met him, but the more she learned about him the more she wanted to get close to and help him
Xiao -> Lumine: Wasn't sure what to think at first, but between her kicking Osail's ass and their somewhat date at the Lantern Rite he fell hard.
Xiao -> Venti: Has had feelings for him ever since Venti saved him, but hesitant to pursue them due to self esteem issues.
Venti -> Xiao: Pretty down bad but more so just wants him to love himself
Venti -> Lyney: Pretty good friend.
Lyney -> Venti: Bit awkward around because well, Fatui and Archon, but still enjoys spending time with him.
Lyney -> Lumine: Was initially just planning on charming her so she could help save Fontaine, but he became down bad and started flirting for real REALLY quick.
Lumine -> Lyney: Always attracted to him but it wasn’t until Lyney’s quest plus Meropide that she truly realised she was down bad.
Lumine -> Venti: Cares about him a lot but wishes they’d be more honest about his feelings.
Venti -> Lumine: You know those best friends turned couples that still act like besties, yeah that’s them.
Xiao -> Lyney: At first only staying close so he didn’t try anything funny with Lumine, but after a while the magicians charm worked on him as well.
Lyney -> Xiao: Was mostly just teasing his new pretty friend at first, but once he realised Xiao was crushing he went ‘okay this sounds fun let’s do it’

don’t embarrass me motherpucker! | the hockey team | scaramouche x reader smau/ ff taglist is still open
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the hockey team
Scaramouche: Inazuma Icebreaker’s temperamental captain/ center and son of famed CEO of Shogun, the top sports technology company in Teyvat. His mother, Raiden constantly pressures him to become the best hockey player in Inazuma, which is a factor of his pissy personality. Despite his standoffish personality, he’s known as the heartthrob of the school, constantly hounded by his many admirers as he walks through the university hallways. Goes by his nickname Scaramouche, real name Kunizukushi. sexuality: bisexual/pansexual
Childe: Inazuma Icebreaker’s left winger, and Scaramouche’s “best friend” or so he declares. He’s been in school with Scaramouche every since elementary school, back when he was still Kunizukushi. He’s an aggressive player on the rink but honestly a sweetie off the rink. He’s kind and courteous (much unlike a certain SOMEONE), and is rather easy to make friends with. sexuality: gay
Kaeya: Inazuma Icebreaker’s flirty right winger and Childe’s current boyfriend. He’s the adopted son of the Ragnvindr family, and currently on bad terms with his brother, Diluc, who is the student council president. He’s a bit of a troublemaker and constantly gets told off by his older brother. sexuality: gay
Kazuha: Inazuma Icebreaker’s goaltender. He’s currently taking a medical course outside of school and hardly shows up to trainings, much to Heizou, his best friend’s, protest. In addition, he’s also still searching for his older brother, who went missing 7 years ago. He’s a key member of the team, almost like a mom taking care of her baby chicks. Many of these moments go viral. sexuality: ????
Itto: Inazuma Icebreaker’s key defenseman. No one gets past Itto’s iron grip, or hug, as the team calls it. Currently, he’s using a nokia due to accidentally smashing his samsung out of excitement (he thinks that apples are evil since he hates the taste of apples) He’s one of the strongest member of the team (physically) but he’s a huge softie at heart. He’s very millenial in the way he texts (he still uses laughing my ass off! and shit give him a break). He’s also got the highest penalty count considering his temper during games where he’ll toss his hockey stick at people (he actually was just saying hello, he swears) sexuality: notusingaappleiphonesexual
Heizou: Inazuma Icebreaker’s second defenseman. He’s not exactly as physically as strong, but he’s definetly smarter- like ten times. He knows y/n pretty well since they were in the same class in high school. He’s a silly little guy who likes to play pranks and thinks that he’s sherlock holmes, and also Kazuha’s best friend. sexuality: bisexual
Xiao: Inazuma Icebreaker’s second emo boy and left winger. The adopted son of professor Zhongli, he’s a lot more courteous and polite than the OTHER emo boy, although he’s a lot quieter. He’s not that close with anyone but Aether, thus sparking many dating rumors among the countless Ina Ice fans. Among one of the best on an already excellent team, he excels in stretching the defense of the other team. Also overly protective of Aether. sexuality: asexual
Aether: Inazuma Icebreaker’s right winger. He’s known for his ‘main character’ energy during games and interviews, and his sync with Xiao on ice and off too. He’s Lumine’s twin brother (he swears he’s a second or two older) and they’re practicallu inseperable. He’s good friends with y/n and usually hangs out with them and their friend group. sexuality: bisexual
Jean: Inazuma Icebreaker’s strict coach. She’s like the tiger mom/ Asian mom of the group, constantly trying to get them to get their shit together although secretly she’s very proud of them. She’s also Lisa, Y/N’s coach’s mortal enemy. Note to self- NEVER put them in the same room. Their form of aggression is passive but that somehow makes it even worse than them just flat-out punching each other.
Author note:
farted this one out my ass <33 y/n and friends coming up next! i envision y/n as a more feminine masc (like cherry from cherry crush but it's up to u!)
also i made a mistake for the ina ice official account! it's 9.8 M not 9.8 lmao Taglist

『02』 原神: genshin impact recs
Tumblr media
魈: xiao
preta by @itoshisoup
"People think that ghosts are born exclusively of resentment, but they can also be born of love. Between those driven by resentment and those driven by love, which do you think cling most strongly to their suffering?" Xiao replies without pause, his gaze unfocused yet fixed upon something you cannot see. "Love." After a yaksha saves your life on the Plains of Guili, you insist on joining him in his war against the evils of Liyue. As the two of you encounter hungry ghosts and resentful spirits, you learn about the ones haunting him. notes: incomplete but intricately woven together; heavy emphasis on chinese culture, wuxia/xianxia genres; if you have watched any historical cdrama, you will like this fic; xingqiu and chongyun are wrapped up into the dynamic; xiao wishes to protect you for centuries; him and his paradoxes; not being strong enough to be considered invincible but still strong enough to try
公子: childe
thin ice by @falconcoast
childe is that senior frat boy on teyvat university’s campus. the one who majors in economics because he’s on scholarship to play sports. the one who is way too loud and you can hear him all the way across campus. the one who’s daddy’s money rich because he’s already sponsored, even while just in the ncaa. the one who manages to get everyone to swoon over him.  oh, right. and your favorite title for him: the one hockey captain who hogs all of your free time to skate after lessons because he always steals it.  all you want to do is do your job and teach skating lessons to the kids to keep your mind off the year-old mess with your figure skating, maybe even get an hour of skating in afterwards as a reward. that is, until the hockey coach sits you down and tells you that surprise! you’re the new team manager for liyue’s hockey team! ...it can’t be that hard to manage twenty or so boys and their captain, childe, right? spoilers: it absolutely is.  notes: wonderfully curated modern skating/hockey AU; childe is so american white boy in this; teucer being adorable; diluc and kaeya sibling dynamic is well-established; university and post-grad plans; figuring out your life and then working other people into it
国崩: scaramouche
tea screen by @after-witch
The trembling voice of the tea apprentice carries through the room, and though you can’t see him, you imagine he must be shaking. Who wouldn’t be, tasked with gaining the approval from the Sixth of the Eleven Fatui Harbringers?  notes: forced marriage and abuse; tea ceremony; sort of reminds me of the edo period; examination of womanhood within a patriarchal society; sexy, sad, and scary all at once; i pity the reader at the end; cycle of love and violence
a simple cup of tea by @after-witch
You have to be prepared and poised and perfect. But it’s hard to be all those things, even with the looming threat of your husband sitting next to you, when you’ve got a secret hidden underneath your clothes... notes: reader grapples with lust and objectification; unhealthy dynamic but portrayed realistically in an almost historical setting; reader is unable to separate her identity as wife apart from her husband; women being defined in the context of men; could be a social satire on traditional gender roles if you squint
love is a dog from hell by @itoshisoup
"A will is something you don't have. That's why you'll follow mine." notes: this fic is the reason why i do not think the concept of ownership in love would translate well into real life because it would be so self-destructive; reader struggles with aftermath of abuse and mistakes possession for protection; realistic depiction of unhealthy relationships; the fatui is exactly the dark criminal organization it is supposed to be; human trafficking and child sexual abuse; scaramouche is so goddamn funny i can't
钟离: zhongli
spoil of war by @bye-bye-sunbird
In the dead of night, you hear the sea calling your name. Sometimes the sound is as soft as a love song, gracing your skin in a gentle breeze that lures you to the seashore where the waves can finally lay claim on you. Other times, the sea strikes the land in a deafening, challenging roar. "Really now... How long do you think those mountains of his will stand in my way?" notes: accurate depiction of characters because archon war morax was genuinely terrifying; zhongli trying to deny his obsessive tendencies; rivalry with osial; reader is essentially sanctified as a symbol of innocent purity; imagine having two spiritual gods pine after you while you are helplessly stuck in the middle of their tug-of-war and simultaneously trying to mourn; that is basically the entire premise of this fic
迪卢克: diluc ragnvindr
the parent trap by @falconcoast
twelve years ago, you got married to a man who had swept you off your feet in a little under two years. diluc was like a prince out a of storybook; effortlessly charming, strikingly handsome, and a kind man. you were supposed to live happily ever after at that winery, running a wedding planning empire, having a family, and growing old together.  until it all goes off script with a divorce. flash forward, and the only remnant of diluc that is with you is your daughter, dawn. the only piece of you that remains with diluc is your other daughter and dawn’s twin sister, phoenix.  it isnt until both of your children get you and your ex-husband in a bit of mess that you realize that maybe, just maybe, you still harbor feelings for diluc.  or maybe it’s the wine talking. notes: one of my favorite comfort fics; i am a sucker for second-chance romance; diluc and reader now older but still being the same bumbling idiots they were when young; at this point the children have more situational awareness than them; based on the original movie; treat yourself to a cup of tea and a friday night with this work and trust me life will be good
博士: il dottore
deus in absentia by @bound-in-parchment
The first time was a coincidence. The second time was a fluke. But the third time? You were starting to think it was fate. Or, more likely, a calculated trap. notes: at this point we can just scrap whatever mihoyo puts out and use this work as canon instead; the world building is so originally creative; this author must possess such a giant sexy brain; reader is basically adopted by dottore and forced to be his apprentice/assistant; idea of losing yourself to your own ambitions; slow-burn to the max; reader is oblivious to full extent of feelings until it is too late; tragic to the point i need a time machine to resurrect them
dream a little of me by @bound-in-parchment
Celestia had a cruel sense of humor. He knew this, even before his days as a student. But to be given a soulmate? Now, when he openly blasphemed against the cursed island in the sky? He would outlive you and the dreadful fated bond that haunted your shared dreams. There was little point in this. He could at least put a Vision to good use. People were nothing but disappointments. He had no use for you. Until you pulled the bow across your instrument and awoke a part of him long buried by self-hatred and arrogance. notes: soulmate trope but with the two most aromantic fools to ever exist; zandik drowns himself in the river of denial; comic dynamic between segments; music and failed dreams; reader actually has a backstory dark enough to match dottore's character; does not shy away from the uncomfortable and gritty aspects of trauma, abuse, and literal mental insanity
chemistry / magnum opus by @jessamine-rose
In the realm of science, love and insanity are closely intertwined mysteries. Disillusioned with the world, you had long forgotten its beauty until the wise doctor gives you a change of perspective. notes: by far the most accurate characterization of akademiya zandik; he hates you then hates himself then hates the world for allowing your paths to cross; treats you as an objective experiment but then wonders why he's suddenly humanizing you; slow-burn; zandik is selfish and machiavellian and somehow you fit into that equation
the only hope i had was the freedom of death by your hands that held me together by @tiens-letters
It was a burden. The weight of the power you hold in all the land. Any human who has enough ambition would dare to covet it and any god even given divine powers would lust after it. You were powerful, able to end civilizations and make a new world altogether. Many would think that you are a sovereign being but you too are limited to mortality than what most would believe. You were human with a blessing of a god and you felt cursed and dirty. notes: honestly the ending made me so mad but take it as a good sign; basically entails the circumstances that would drive dottore to become somewhat capable of love; what is done cannot be undone; zandik finally meeting someone who is wiser and more depressed than him; deluding himself into thinking he could ever be domestically normal; somewhat idolizes/idealizes reader; themes of betrayal and misunderstanding
富者: pantalone
house cat / alea iacta est by @jessamine-rose
Your entire life has been a gilded cage. The gods refuse to grant your greatest wish, and so you have resigned yourself to the will of destiny. But what happens when the red string of fate is severed and replaced with the silver chains of the Regrator? notes: liyue nobility; dishonest business and financial deals; reader is a cat hybrid but i didn't notice until part two because the plot was so good; pantalone is the mastermind behind all his interactions with reader; heavy manipulation and orchestrations; wolf in sheep's clothing; alternate ending found here
隊長: il capitano
herbarium / fairytale / forget-me-not / astilbe by @jessamine-rose
You had long given up on wishes and happy endings. After what you believed to be the end of your tragic story, you resigned yourself to a shadow of a life with only your books and flowers to keep you company…until the vestiges of Windblume brought forth a mysterious stranger and a new ending for your dark fairytale. notes: capitano being the strong stoic protector of a delicately fragile reader; manipulation is so subtle and that is what makes it alarming; somewhat stirred my daddy issues because he is so parental; reader struggles between accepting his love versus hating him for taking away her personal agency; flower motifs

━━━ 「 happy ever after or not 😈 」
Tumblr media
BEFORE YOU READ this chapter contains suicidal jokes if not comfortable click away, it’s all just jokes so please don’t drag me 😢
On that chilly evening around 8 PM, Xiao had just landed a couple of hours ago and was eager to see you. The two of you found yourselves seated on a bench in a park just outside his apartment.
"Xiao," you mumbled, and he responded with a soft "Yeah?"
"I've been thinking," you whispered as you gazed at him, "let's give it another try."
He looked at you in surprise before breaking into a smile. "I promise I'll do better than last time," you rolled your eyes, a small smile playing on your face, "you better," you muttered.

"Xiao, stop moving!" you laughed. "My hand is starting to hurt," he groaned. "Are we almost done?"
"Babe, we've only just started," you smiled as you continued painting. "Hold still."

Tumblr media
Staring at the bottom of your glass,
"Xiao!" You came rushing to your balcony, holding a tray contaning two plates and two bowls.
Xiao, General Alatus, the Conquerer of Demons, an Adeptus, the honorable Yaksha, a protector of Liyue, one with so many titles, but only Xiao to you.
He stands up straight and turns to you from leaning his elbows on the railings. "How many times have I told you to stop running?" He sighs and sits on his cushion, watching you put down your dinners on the table infront of him.
hoping one day you'll make a dream last
You smiled sheepishly. "I couldn't help him, I'm just really happy to see you." You sat down and grabbed your utensils.
"You see me everyday." He murmurs and grabs his as well.
"Every dinner." You correct him. With his duties that come with his numerous titles, it's impossible for him to visit you in the day, as he says.
"You still see me..." He tries to counter.
You shake your head with a smile. "It's fine though, I'm thankful you can even fit me in your 'busy' schedule, oh mighty Adeptus Xiao."
But dreams come slow
He gives you a pointed look and shoves a tofu in his mouth. "Stop that."
You stuck out your tongue at him. "What are you gonna do about it?"
He's fast when he reaches out and takes two out of three of your favorite food on your meal.
You gasp in offence. "Wha-- How dare you! Giving me one of your scary face thingy look you give to my fellow 'mortals' and 'humans' is one thing but taking my food is another!"
He simply continues to eat, ignoring your 'threats'.
and you go so fast
"You! Me! Right here! Right now!"
Xiao doesn't smile or laugh, but he's happy, you think. If people ask you how you knew, it's simple really.
Because he doesn't have those burdened frowns, because his face is lighter when you talk to him like this. When you talk to him as Xiao. When you talk to him as your friend.
When you talk to him with like you're the only people in the world right now.
You see when you close your eyes,
You wall throught the streets of Liyue with a smile, walking excitedly towards the certain shop you've been eyeing.
You opened the door with a ding, the metal, traditional Liyue ornaments clinking together. "Goodmorning, Mrs. Jiaxu." You greet the middle aged jeweler.
"Goodmorning, [Name] dear, how are you?" She greets back, her voice as gentle as ever. You've known her since you were a child, your parents often bringing you here to play with her children.
maybe one day, you'll understand why
"I'm doing fine, umm... could I possibly have my order today? It's fine if you haven't finished it yet though, I'm sorry for the sudden request." You smiled apologetically.
She waves it off, "It's alright, my dear. Infact, your order is almost done, could you wait for a few more minutes?"
You nodded, eager. "Ofcourse!" You answer and she goes out in the back.
You had ordered a custom made bracelet for you and Xiao. You've been friends for 2 years now, and you think it would be cute to get matching bracelets now, working on the designs for almost a week to fit both you and him. It was a hard pick considering Xiao doesn't really fit the cute type or the overly designed one. You had to make it simple, minimal, but also describing him and you. You made yours simple but descriptive too, since he was going to get yours and you were going to get his.
A bracelet exchange, you liked being sentimental at times.
everything you touch surely dies
You and Xiao only meet during your dinner time in these 2 years, him leaving after eating. And to be honest, it's the reason why you had started to eat more, because you make so much food on purpose so he would stay and you could talk more. You didn't really know how you managed to get him to be friends with you, much less come to you to eat dinner everyday, but you couldn't care less either. As long as you get to meet him, everything's fine.
You admit it was a lot of work trying to get him to talk to you, especially to meet you, but it was worth it, afterall. You were glad you somehow have this stubborn, talkative illness around him.
You can't help but admit you've grown to love him too.
But you only need the light when it's burning low,
You can't help but wonder either, could he possibly return the same?
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow,
Your eyes roamed around everything, trying to entertain yourself while waiting.
Liyue really is beautiful, huh, you thought, staring at the beautiful scenery of people talking and laughing through the glass windows. Whether it'd be customers and vendors, children and parents, they were all happy, and with the sight of Liyue's traditional colors and the sky, you couldn't help but think everything was perfect.
Your eyes widened as you unconciously took a step back.
Only know you love her when you let her go
Was it from shock? From what shock? Seeing Xiao roaming in the streets during the day?
Or seeing him with another person?
You know that person, ofcourse, almost everyone does. The Traveller. The famous traveller who has helped so many people, thousand, millions of people.
The overwhelming thoughts and questions clouded your head, deflating your happy figure as you stare at him so casually talking to the traveller, roaming around the streets in broad daylight.
Your heart hurts, for some reason. Were you too clingy for getting upset over seeing him talking to someone else? Maybe, but you couldn't help it. Seeing him talk so casually to someone that isn't you makes your thoughts race against each other.
It hurts. Seeing him talk to someone casually. Seeing him walking in the streets with them. Seeing him eating street food with them. Seeing him keep his gaze on them. Seeing him without his frown and heavy features he usually gives to everyone. Seeing him have his lighter face with someone that isn't you.
Seeing him having the same things he has with you.
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low,
You forced yourself to lower your head, staring at the ground to avoid seeing them.
How would you even compete with them?
You, who's only a normal civillian, citizen of Liyue. You, who can only talk to him about your day and nothing too interesting for him to relate to. You, who can only give him little things. You, who barely even speaks to other people and only gets talkative around him. You, who only has her parents, and the same friends she has from her childhood, no one, nothing new. You, who despite being friends with him for 2 years, can only even see him at dinner.
You, who he only talks to for no longer than 2 hours.
And the Traveller, who's already been declared as a nation's honorary knight. The traveller, who has many connections. The traveller, who's naturally kind and helpful. The traveller, who has this alluring, natural charisma around them. The traveller, who unknowingly draws people in. The traveller who's brave and strong. The traveller, who can tell Xiao more interesting stories with their adventures.
The traveller, who is intelligent and charming.
Only hate the road when you're missing home,
You go home carrying the two boxes containing both of your custom breacelets, and carrying the dejected and unhappy look on your face.
You stare at the green and white boxes on your table, thinking about whether to prepare dinner for both of you or not. But you shake your head and think you would be too petty if you didn't. You shouldn't be mad.
It's not like you're in a relationship with him anyway.
Night came and you cooked dinner for both of you, still cased in the thoughts of earlier and keep pushing away the unhappy thoughts.
You bring the tray over to the balcony, the usual set up of the table, cushions, the fairy lights, the blankets, and extra pillows still around. It's always been that way since you and Xiao came to this routine. You're thankful to have a bigger than normal sized balcony, extending the roof so that rain wouldn't touch anything when it's in weather.
You stared at the dark sky being illuminated by the stars, waiting for Xiao. He loved your balcony, it was high up because you live in an apartment, apart from your parents because of work, and it had a complete, beautiful view of the sky above and liyue below. It's the reason why you specifically chose this one, honestly. You grew to love it more when Xiao said it was his favorite thing in your home.
You keep waiting for him when you notice a piece of paper trying to escape with the wind under your flower pot.
You take the note and immediately feel something bad upon holding it. You already had an idea what it would say.
You just kept hoping it wasn't it.
"I can't come tonight, busy. Sorry, have
a great dinner.
- Xiao"
Only know you love her when you let her go
Unconciously, a continous stream of tears fall down from your eyes as you let go of the note and lean on your hand, covering your eyes and rubbing your forehead.
You think you're being dramatic and sensitive, but the tears and aching won't stop. Why? Was it because you love him? Yes.
Was is because you were afraid of being replaced? Definitely.
For the first time, Xiao couldn't come.
For the first time, seeing each other during dinner isn't enough anymore.
For the first time, everything you shared because an insecurity.
And the thought of him being 'busy' with another person leaves you defeated and crying on the balcony you both love so much.
You were so caged in your thoughts and insecurities that you didn't notice someone coming from behind.
It all happened so fast, so stealthily.
You felt a very short, sharp pang of pain on your nape and you fell on your table, crashing to the ground unconcious.
Never to wake up again.
Staring at the ceiling in the dark,

Xiao sighs as he walked down the streets with the traveller and Paimon who's running her mouth off again, invisibly awkward.
As Paimon runs over to a food booth, the traveller sighs with him. "So you're telling me, that you approached me, forced yourself to talk and walk with me earlier and now, now, because you didn't know what to give her?"
Xiao sighs again and rubs his neck, feeling a little embarassed. "Didn't know who to ask..."
"So you chose me? Of all people, Xiao." They say, feeling frustrated.
"You have people around you everytime..."
"Bu I don't like like them!"
"...."
The traveller closes their eyes for a second and gives in, knowing this is once in a blue moon. "Fine, fine, but don't blame me if she doesn't like it. I don't know much about these things either."
Xiao only nodded. "Let's hurry." He demands. He wants to give it before midnight, you'll be awake because you always stay up late, but he wants to make it up to you. He knew you probably wouldn't be upset, you're always happy, afterall, but he doesn't want to risk it.
"Hey! You're the one asking for help here!"
Xiao didn't want to ask for help. He swear he didn't at all, but he doesn't know about these type of things. He doesn't know a thing about romance but he isn't stupid to not recognize and acknowledge how happy he is when he is in your presence. He doesn't know if he should call it love but there's no harm in doing so if he wants and needs to be by your side, to listen to your rants, to tolerate your teasing, and have peaceful and comfortable nights with you.
Xiao definitely isn't the type to be affectionate and loving, but who could blame him for wanting and needing the affection of the person who makes him happy. Makes him comfortable, understands him, cares for him, respects his boundaries.
How could he not fall for someone who makes him feel like a worthy person?
How could he not develop such feelings for someone who cares for him like that?
Deep inside, he's always longed for someone's care like this. Deep inside, he's just too afraid of getting hurt and hurting others. Deep inside that unapproachable, brave, strong, and mighty adeptus mask, both the literal and the facade, he just seeks comfort and peace. Physical peace, mental peace, inner peace.
As someone who's been through a lot, Xiao is truly thankful he found you, or rather, you found him.
And he wants to share those lovely thoughts of you to you tonight. So you know how important you are to him. How much happiness you've brought to him, even if he doesn't show it often. He wants to show and share to you the same happiness you taught him. If you would let him.
To be honest, Xiao doesn't know what to do if you don't return his feelings and reject him. Maybe he would cower and stay away, just admiring and protecting you from afar. Or maybe he would remain friends with you and be content with what you want and can give him.
But no matter what your response is, he knows and wants to keep having these feelings for you.
He wants to keep feeling for you.
Because his feelings for you are peaceful and comforting.
He wants this feeling to stay. To keep him at bay when he starts losing it. To keep him from those ugly, drowning thoughts.
So now he stands infront of your apartment, a slightly big box, a gift, the box is colored green, from its body to its lid, in hand, tied with a dark blue ribbon, a white rose symbolizing you slilped into the center along with the ribbon.
However, his feeling of nervousness and excitement were replaced by an unknown dread as he walks closer to your building.
His heart races fast as he sees the flower pots near your side of the cushion broken and almost hanging.
But his heart drops when he sees a hand, your hand, with the makeshift red ring from a yarn on your middle finger you made during dinner a month ago, almost hanging of the balcony beside the pots.
He quickly teleports inside your apartment in panic.
His eyes widened at the sight of your figure before him.
Crashed room, thrashed things, broken plates, bowls, cups, vases, wrecked tables, pierced cushions, sofas, and pillows. The table you onced shared with each broken, spilled food, soup, and drinks with he assumes was supposed to be yours and his dinner.
Your body laying in a pool of your own blood.
same old empty feeling in your heart
He wants to vomit.
His mind in a haze, he's getting dizzy.
He drops the gift.
Everything is spinning, his ears are ringing as he shakily, slowly, carefully moves towards your body, ignoring everything, ignoring your blood seeping into his hands, his feet, his clothes, his everything.
He notices all of the blood came from your nape. He carefully, slowly, shakily carries you inside, leaning his back at the bottom of your couch, hugging your body close.
His eyes are wide, shaking, red, almost bulging out. He keeps releasing heavy, deep, and continous pants, breaths.
He shaky hand brushes your hair from your face, staring at your beautiful face, ignoring your blood that sticked in his hand to your face.
His other hand is still supporting your nape, keeping it still, and covering it, so blood doesn't come out anymore, he thinks.
But then he takes on look at your face again and is hit by an invisible meteor.
You're not breathing.
You're so pale.
You're limp in his arms.
Why?
Oh.
'Cause love comes slow,
Xiao inhales with so much force, letting out a loud noise like he held his breath for a long time.
As air visits his lungs once more, his eyes let outstreams of tears.
He panics and his trembling hand touches your face and hands and feet and---
How did this happen?
When did this happen?
Oh archons,
Why did this happen?
What went wrong? He was supposed to give his gift to you--- his gift. His gift. Where is his gift? He looks around in panic and sees it dropped not too far away.
It was on the ground, the lid was opened and the gift came out.
A diary.
His diary. You told him to write his thoughts and feelings, you said it would help, so he did. So he wanted to confess using his diary. He wanted you to see how much he loved you from his writings.
A sharp pain pricked his brain.
Oh right, he left you alone for hours.
He didn't come to you. Then someone, or people, came in and...
He didn't come and because of that you..
He wasn't there to protect you, and now you're....
Dead?
and it goes so fast
Like his yaksha friends? Like the people he cared about?
Like the people he killed?
He almost screamed at the sharp pain that went throught his heart.
How could he let this happen? How could he let someone precious dies again? How could he not protect you?
It's his fault. It echoes in his mind.
Well, you see her when you fall asleep,
Then he notices something on the table of your couch. There were two boxes and a big note.
"I love you, Xiao. I've loved you for a long time now, I don't want thesd bracelets to be just friendship bracelets, I want these to be a symbol of our feelings, if you'll have me.
- Love, [Name]"
Xiao lets himself break.
But never to touch,
He bawls his eyes out and let out broken noises, his trembling hands touching your face once again, cupping your cheek and kissing your forehead repeatly. He didn't want to let go of you, not yet.
Not ever.
So please don't go. Pleasepleaseplease-
"B-beautiful." He manages to say, forces it out. "Y-you're always beautiful..." He means it, inside out, even if your own blood is now scattered against your face, by his bloodied hands.
and never to keep
Xiao's eyes looses their light once again.
Empty, once again.
Lifeless, once again.
He's so tired, he thinks, he feels.
So he closes his eyes and hopes when he wakes up, you'll be here by his side again, or he'll be at yours.
He wishes he spent more time with you.
He wishes he stayes more than 2 hours.
He wishes he wasn't so caught in his insecurities.
'Cause you loved her too much,
He didn't just see you during dinner, he sees you almost every second, watching you from afar, protecting you, admiring you.
He wishes he wasn't afraid of his own karmic debt.
He wishes he couldn't been stronger to fight away those cowardly thoughts.
He wishes he could've realized everything earlier.
He wishes he wasn't cursed by this chain that binds him to death and loneliness.
He hugs your body as close as it can be, hoping time goes slow. So he could apoogize more. So he could thank you more. So he could say he loves you. So he could feel you more.
So he could hug you for the very last time.
and you dived too deep

DREAM CATCHER — 05. that look
Tumblr media
You took a few deep breaths as you bounced on the balls of your feet and hummed the first song prepared in the set. You eagerly tapped your drumsticks against the wall to the beat of one of Navia and Clorinde’s songs.
Your inability to stand still made Kuni grab onto your shoulder and turn you to face him and Xiao, who was tuning Kuni’s guitar for him.
“Stop that, it’s annoying me.” Kuni growled, leaning his arm on your shoulder.
You sent him a half-hearted glare and attempted to stick one of your drumsticks up his nose. He flinched away from you almost instantly with a scowl on his face as you snickered.
You grabbed his hand and ran your fingers over his many rings— most of which you gave him for his birthday.
He curled his fingers around yours and shuffled closer to you. “You ready?”
“You bet!” you answered excitedly.
Even after years of performing, you still had stage fright. The anxiety you felt before stepping on stage made you feel like you were going to vomit, but the excitement would always override the nervousness in your heart.
Xiao wrapped his arm around yours and Kuni’s shoulders, resting his head between the two of you. “Two minutes,” he told you, his voice shaking a little.
You raised a hand to his cheek, tapping it softly. You sent him a smile. “Ready, pretty boy? You’ll be fine.”
Both you and Kuni were well aware of Xiao’s stage fright. However, no one could ever guess that he had it with how confident he presented himself on stage. He was undoubtedly a performer, despite his own objections to that statement.
He sent you a tired glare and dug his face into your hair. You felt him smile against your neck. “I’m not scared.”
“Mhm sure,” Kuni smirked, leaning close to Xiao, his nose inches away from the stoic-faced man. Xiao pushed Kuni’s face away with his hand, causing Kuni to laugh loudly.
A red tint settled over Xiao’s cheeks, and before you could tell Kuni not to provoke him, the man was teasing Xiao to hell and back. The two boys were arguing in no time, causing you to sigh.
They’ll kiss and make up later, it’s fine.
“Hey idiots, it’s time!” You yelled at them, watching as they both shoved each other towards the stage.
You watched as Kuni grabbed his guitar from Xiao and ran on stage, raising his hands into the air and introducing himself. The crowd erupted into a fit of cheers.
With a burst of confidence that you never knew he had, Xiao kissed your cheek before Kuni announced his name and he walked on stage, greeting the crowd with a hand raised into the air. Ear piercing screams followed, making you chuckle under your breath.
Xiao was the fan favorite after Kuni, and you were content not being a fan favorite at all. However, Xiao always argued that you were loved way more than he was (which you claimed was a lie). And in your manager’s words, you were “the people’s princess.”
Kuni announced your name, and you ran on stage, pulling both of the boys into a side hug and kissing their cheeks before you sat at your drum set. The crowd cheered louder than before at your entrance.
Adjusting his mic, Kuni looked at the sold out concert hall. “I was going to say ‘good evening’, but never mind, I don’t care how any of you are doing tonight.” He said into his mic, prompting the crowd to laugh.
You twirled your drumstick around. “He’s especially sassy today, don’t listen to him.”
Kuni turned around to flip you off before he sighed into the mic. “Alright, Dornman. Let’s blow the roof off this place. This song is called The Fire, The Dark.”

Based off my previous SAGAU post about a hunted reader meeting the Tsaritsa. Multiple connected bite sized povs combined. Pov's are as follows: the creator's sibiling, the reader, Lumine. Implied violence
The Other Half
There was a new trailer that had come out for Genshin Impact. While they had to admit they were excited for it, it still hurt as they had played the game with their sibling constantly. Sighing they booted up their computer, getting ready to start streaming for their fans. As they got Set up, they watched their chat fill up with love, chat aware of the recent loss and giving the best encouragement they could. Preparing they turned on their Vtubing model and got to work.
"Hey! Hello! I see all my happy little chatters out there! Um, I know I haven't been streaming like usual after y'know everything." More words and hearts filled chat, they too were grieving the loss of their favorite streamer's sibiling. "I am ready to start playing Genshin again though. I know everyone has missed it and even though its not gonna be the same without them, i want everyone to know that i am still going to play it. So, how about we see that new trailer, yeah?"
Chat was going too fast to see much, but it didn't take a genius to know they were excited. Finding the trailer called Flowers For a Blooming Spirit, they began to watch in anticipation, unaware of what was happening in it was very real.
--------
It was snowing in Snezhnaya like it always. Thick snow covering a large castle that held two very important idividuals inside. The camera shifts, showing a woman with a white dress and thick cloak to match it. The woman sat on a throne facing towards someone who has their back to the camera. They both were talking but it seemed to be coming to end by the time the camera shows them. The camera shows the bottom of the womans but not the rest. She begins to speak.
"My Lamb, I know this is of great importance to you, but are you sure you want to do this alone?" The camera shows the other being from the neck down, showing that they are wearing and identical cloak to the woman's.
"I am fully aware of my current prediciment. I want to see Paimon and my other half. Don't worry old friend, I will try not to get into too much trouble." The Lamb's face is revealed to show a mask covering it. Though the shape and origin of it is unknown, it covers the whole face. The one known as The Lamb turns their heel, beginning to leave the room. The woman says one final thing before The Lamb leaves.
"Do be careful. You know i worry about you, My Divine Lamb."
New Story Arc: The Deluded Dreaming Of Gods
New Character: The Lamb - ???? - Abyssal
Event Wish Preview:
First Phase: Albedo - Xiao
Second Phase: The Lamb - Tartaglia
New Event: The Ludi Harpastum Festival
------
The Lamb
Appreantly, when one is watched by the other twin creator, they are forced to follow a script. While it had little effect on you, Teyvat seemed try and restrict any mention of the relationship between the other twin and The Traveler. It also felt odd to be watched, you had thought it to be more like a cold chill but instead it was a warm blanket. You hoped you looked cool being watched even if it was something trivial like talking to The Tsaritsa.
It had only been a mere handful of years since the hunt for your head had happened, The Great Hunt as it was now called. Alot would be an understatement for what has happened between then and now. Between being an honorary harbinger and meeting Paimon, you had been busy trying to right things on Teyvat. As badly as most everyone had treated you when you first descended, you had grown fond of Teyvat and almost everyone in it. Well, except Celestia and the Twin Imposters.
Abyssal energy hummed in the back of your mind, demanding attention in your thoughts too. That was another thing, the abyss called to you and allowed you to use it. In fact, it was eager to do your bidding as long as you loved it in turn. The Abyss was not chained down by the seals covering your body, thus allowing you to use it in almost in its entirety. Of course that came with drawbacks, like a month power nap and Teyvat being displeased that you had forced parts of the two planes together. The Abyss and Teyvat were like cats in a way, you had thought. Being petty towards each other and getting jealous over who got attention from their parent, but working together in order to get everything functioning like it should. If only they could do it without overstimulating your mind with whispering at times.
"Little Lamb we are here. Oh, come on don't give me that look, you were the one who wanted to show up to the Ludi Harpastum festival knowing fully well we had work to do first." Pantalone's voice gently waded through the carriage. He was correct that there was work to do, but the wine was more important to you. Well, other than watching Venti shit himself at the fact that you were very much alive and seeing The Traveler. You were right outside the gates of Mondstat and Fatui soldiers and diplomats were waiting for you and Pantalone. Quietly groaning, you got out of the carriage and walked with Pantalone to the Goth Grand Hotel.
A few of the locals did not seem pleased with your and Pantalone's arrival, but kept it to themselves. The Knights of Favonius, however, were tenser than wooden boards. You tried to focus on something other than upcoming meeting and looking at the festival decorations could only do so much. God, you hoped Pantalone would do most the talking. After the horrendously awkward meeting between you and Furina last time, you could only hope that Pantalone would do the talking. You did not want a repeat of last time, especially now that you were likely to be watched by both your sibiling, the entirety of their chat, and the civilians of Monstat.
Walking into Goth Grand Hotel, you took a second to appreciate the interior because of was one beautiful building. Looking back, you were led into a large room were most all of the fatui stationed inside Mondstat were. Noticing that they were now in the presence of 2 high ranking officals, someone ordered the room to attention. You and Pantalone stood in front of the group.
"Now that's more like it. No more meddling about, hmm? First order of buisness, we are well aware of a few rats in this building so let us deal with that first." Pantalone's voice rang clearly throughout the large room. You knew you were about to feel guilty about not being able to save the poor sops were about to be taken off payroll. You knew Pantalone did not like mora wasted and those who have betrayed both the fatui and him were nothing but wastes of mora. Oh well, there wasn't much you could say now that would save their lives. Might as well try to think of a swift death for them that wasn't bloody.
-------------
LUMINE
Lumine was trekking her way back to Mondstat for the Ludi Harpastum Festival. According to Paimon, the Festival was 15 days long and had just about everything you could imagine a festival having. While Lumine was excited, she couldn't shake the gut feeling that something was off about this festival. While Kaeya's letter was mostly about the festival, he made mention of Fatui Harbingers being there. In Lumine's experience, Harbingers often meant something big was about to happen. As she came atop the hill, she felt the warm presence come back to her. It had been gone for what felt like forever. Standing by the Statue of the Seven, Lumine took a moment to compose herself.
"Traveler! The Ludi Harpastum Festival is gonna start soon if we don't hurry up! Oh Paimon is so excited. Do you think they will have lots of food?" Paimon appeared beside her, high pitched voice rattling on about food.
Taking off towards Mondstat, Lumine made it to the gates just before the evening hours. However, the guards seemed to be about ready to turn to stone with how tense they were. "Hey is it just Paimon or does everyone seem really tense?" Paimon floated close to Lumine's ear, whisepering as she spoke. "Maybe Jean or Keaya will know something. Let's go ask them." Lumine nodded and headed to the Headquarters of the Knights Of Favonius. When she finally made it and asked a Stressed looking Jean, it appeared she was right, something was off.
"Oh, yes, they have every right to be stressed. With how many have already showed up to the festival and the arrival of two Fatui Harbingers every knight is stressed out. But, please, do not let that distract you from having fun at the festival." Jean had explained, rubbing her temples as she did so. It seemed her work never ended. The festival was already a stressful time of year for the knights and two harbingers showing uo only added to it. On top of that, the Harbinger called "The Lamb" was suspected to be one of the hands of the Tsraritsa herself. Any wrong doing could completely sour the already fragile relationship with the Fatui. She did not want risk a diplomatic incident with someone like that. Jean watched as Lumine nodded.
"I do not want to seem like i am overstepping or trying to ruin your time here, but if you wouldn't mind keeping an eye out for anything suspicious I would greatly appreicate it. Please, have a wonderful time first and foremost. Now, if you do not mind I have a meeting to prepare for. Go out and have fun and hopefully i will be able join you soon." Jean had shooed Lumine out of the office. Lumine smiled before nodding and leaving to join the festival activities. It was nearly evening afterall and she didn't want to miss even a single minute of activites with friends.
Unaware of the looming ghosts, Lumine went and enjoyed festivites and met with old friends. The Lamb prepared for an eventful next few days. Between haunting Venti for his crimes against them and preparing to meet Lumine, The Lamb had their plate full. Pantalone prepares to move his chess pieces in the most profitable direction that won't entirely spoil Fatui and Mondstat relations. All of them entangled in a web that The Lamb themselves partially created to expose the concept of Divine Creator to their sibiling.

---------------
A word from the author:
This was originally written to be multiple parts and way different then I thought. This was also a test of my strength when i comes to writing an actual semi connected short story thing. I was not satisfied with the original work so i remade it into this snippet. I would delete it, but i wish to keep it so into this little dumpster it goes.
I try not to make the Reader into too much of an OC but i find it difficult to not make it an OC insert sometimes when i write. Hopefully its not too much like an OC when read. The Ludi Harpastum Festival is an actual thing in Genshin. I am not making that up.

Did Yue Qi and Shen Jiu have surnames as slaves? I've seen people claim both. Obviously the narration called them Yue Qi and Shen Jiu, but I can't find any dialogue referring to them by full names until after the reunion, only "Qi-ge" and "Xiao Jiu".
Is there any reason to believe they wouldn't have surnames, or is the lack of dialogue mentioning them just due to the overall small amount of dialogue in the qijiu pre-CQMS era, with most of it being just directly between themselves qijiu?
So, I ended up doing some research into this. Pre-Qin, only nobles had surnames at all while slaves and commoners did not, but starting in the Warring States period, lower-class families also began to use surnames, and during the Qin Dynasty, most if not all families had them. Unlike MDZS, as far as I know, SVSSS doesn't have a distinctive time period in which it takes place so it's difficult to tell specifics, but I would probably headcanon it to take place after Qin Dynasty (somewhere between the Six Dynasties period and Song Dynasty, if I had to guess, with various influences from all across that time period and beyond... it's probably safe to assume that Airplane ended up mashing together all kinds of historical periods as influences).
In ancient times, slaves could be from noble families that were toppled, in which case I believe they'd still carry those surnames, or they might be given their master's surnames if they had achieved something notable, but I don't really think that this applies much to Shen Jiu and Yue Qi's situation.
(Also, I am not a historian so if anyone knows better please feel free to add on!)
These two not having surnames seems to be supported on the surface:
"When he was twelve years old, he was but a slave my family had purchased from traveling child traffickers. As the ninth child in that band, he was called Xiao-Jiu." (7 Seas, Ch. 6)
And additionally, when Shen Jiu is writing characters, he only knows "Qi" and "Jiu" without any surnames.
However, there is also the fact that Qiu Haitang calls him by his full name when she meets him:
Then there came a woman’s sweetly charming voice. “Shen Jiu… Are you Shen Jiu? ... "No wonder I searched for so many years but still never found you again. I see, you’d already flown to the summit and become the aloof and lofty master of Qing Jing Peak. Ha ha, how splendid!" (7 Seas, Ch. 6)
Now... there are a few ways you could think of this. Does she address him this way because he did have a surname before? Or has she heard that the Qing Jing peak lord is surnamed Shen and calls him accordingly?
And then I went back to reread for this... and found out that Shen Jiu is called by his full name even before coming to the Qiu household:
So, [Shiwu] steeled himself and put on a brave face to say, “Shen Jiu, don’t think you can just throw your weight around. You don’t own this street. What gives you the right to tell us we can’t stay?!” (7 Seas, Ch. 24)
Which makes it very likely that the two had surnames-- and probably that at least one through nine did as well. Whether those that come after did is less clear, since they would already have two-character names, but that isn't particularly important. Now... where did they get them?
Either from families that sold them off, or it could be geographical, like taking a character from the name of the region or city they were purchased in. Maybe it was just randomly assigned. Whichever you end up going with, Shen Jiu was surnamed "Shen" from some point before we meet him in the flashback extra, and it's reasonable to assume that Yue Qi also had his surname.
Anyway, I feel like there's a decent bit up for interpretation, but they almost certainly received their surnames at some point during childhood, rather than at Cang Qiong Mountain.

Fangs of Fortune (ep. 09 - ep. 10)
Okay, after so many side stories ending with deaths, I think it's safe to say there's a 0% chance of a happy ending for any of the show's main characters D: Mighty demons fall in love and end badly, powerful Godesses get sick and end badly, whoever cares for someone else - ends badly. It kind of sets the mood, and I'm taking all the hints, yep.
The Original Goddess and her demonic partner have met quite a tragic end. Another heartbreaking couple dissolving into thin air, ah... I just hope the history won't repeat itself with Wen Xiao. But I wasn't at all surprised to see that the other half of the Bai Ze token was, indeed, inside Zhu Yan. it was pretty much on the surface, but the reunion was still quite beautiful. And that heartfelt talk between Zhu Yan and Wen Xiao after, when she said she wanted to cure him :3 I mean, he seemed actually, genuinely happy. But then again we got reminded of the deadly promise Zhu Yan and Zhuo Yichen made, so XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm starting to think Zhuo Yichen is just 99,9% socially awkward. Given his past with just 1 brother and almost no friends, I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't show his affection to other people, like, at all. He's getting along with Bai Jiu pretty well because of all the brotherly vibes going on between the two. Bai Jiu reminds him of his childhood and, well, he's young and he poses no danger whatsoever.
Zhu Yan, on the other hand, is ancient, knowledgable, pretty and intimidating just as he is, and seems to get a kick out of lovingly trolling Yichen whenever he can (and Yichen does the same to the best of his capabilities). Actually, all the guys in the show seem to be somehow broken in oh-so-many places (maybe apart from Yinglei, but we probably just don't know his story yet).
"But I want to cure you..." :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rewinding a little back - the whole sequence with the doll was hilarious XD If the show didn't create a balance between drama and humor, it would have been one totally overwhelming beautifully made depression)) But this - it's not only watchable, you just naturally fall in love with everyone and everything going on screen.
"Let's take the puppet as a hostage," said the 34,000-year-old demon lord XD

Finished season one's episode eight to twelve of RWBY. This was the most fun batch so far.
Season 01 Episode 08: Players and Pieces
- "Welcome to the world of bloody evolution..."
- The interactions between Ruby and Weiss are so bad for them but so funny for me.
- It's not everyday your sister falls from the sky. And then gets hit by a Jaune projectile. Yang must be so confused. So is Blake. Which, fair.
- Oh my Gods. Nora comes riding in on a monster?! Awesome entry alert!
- "It's broken." Wonder why. ⚡
- Ren cannot anymore... This girl is fast for a sloth. And now she has a chesspiece and a song.
- Blake and Yang are confounded. The bear monster is called an Ursa. Pyrrha has entered the scene with a scorpion on her tail... What a badass move!
- Jaune is still hanging around... 😆. Ruby and Yang scream each other's name in greeting. Nora shouts her own in return, 'cause of course. And here I thought Jaune had more energy.
- The scorpion is termed Deathstalker. Yang blows her lid so bad, a timer for a bomb is activated...
- Done with everything, Yang is. Something tells me so is Weiss, mayhaps.
- Weiss is falling. Is this Jaune's moment to shine? Yes, apparently. And also to break his own back in the process. The line he used when catching her was good though, I will give him that.
- "Great. The gang's all here. Now we can die together!" -Yang Xiao Long
- Ruby has two monsters on her. I hope Yang doesn't have to watch her sister die... Ahhh. Weiss saves the day! And accepts her fate and her shortcomings! Who would have known Ruby almost dying was all it would take.
- While Ruby celebrates her "normal knees," Yang 'shuffles' close and almost crushes her with her love... That run was weird and so funny. Good Gods. The animation really is bad sometimes.
- "Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying." But I was born for it! Forced to lock in now. UGHHHHHHHHH.
- "Run and live."✨👏🏻😂
- Another win for the horsin' around folks. The other chess figure both Nora and Jaune pick? We call it the elephant here.
- Ruby is leading. Yang is a proud parental figure. Blake noticed. CUTE!
- The monsters also want to "run and live."
- They are fighting together. And well. So COOOL!!!
- Maybe I spoke too soon. But they still trying! And holy hell. I think Thor would be proud of Nora being his representation.
- Blake is badass. I already knew that but it's nice to watch it unfold.
- Team RWBY is getting ready with their weapons. AGHHHHHHHHH! Ruby about to team lead the shite out of this birdie.
- Defining moments coming up!!!
- Team JNPR is moving against the scorpion. WOOOHOO! Jaune is actually a good leader. Nora "nail"ed it. Pyrrha is forever a great warrior. And Ren is getting too old for this. Scorpion down!!!
- This song. Dance battle in my roooom!!!!
- Yang is feeding birdie knuckle sandwiches. Weiss froze its tailend. Blake's lasso is turning into a makeshift catapult. Ruby's plan is about to work, but banter first... Weiss gets offended but what else is new? 😂
- Look at them all working together. ❤️‍🔥😭💖
- Red like roses part two!!!
- Birdie said bye-bye. Or couldn't, I guess... Team Cardinal. CRDL. Huh. So the first letter leads?
- The chesspiece team JNPR or Juniper picked is known as the rook out there? I shall stick to calling them elephants... Jaune is so surprised about being the leader. Pyrrha isn't at all and gives him a celebratory punch that has him falling. LoLLL!
- White knight pieces?! Horsies... Team RWBY. Led by what you are supposed to call them all together. Is Weiss shocked or...?
- Truly an interesting year ahead! Under the same broken moon we find... Torchwick?! Dude. Why do they all have such cool names?!
- OOOOOOooooooooh! Map of Vale. Beacon has been circled. Bad guy needs more men. Can only mean one thing.... Party, party, hallelujah! 🎉😆
- The Torchwick ending. His symbol looks like a boogey man mask... I must look into the soundtrack.
Season 01 Episode 09: The Badge and the Burden - Pt I
- I have been noticing this for a while now. The opening song begins playing first from the right side of my headphones. And then the left end also joins in. I don't remember what they call this, but the people behind this entry piece have done a good job here.
- Ruby is taking her team leader post very seriously. Like a coach. Yang and Blake are also excited about interior decoration. What the fuck does Banzai mean? And did they rehearse striking that pose?!
- Weiss' long suffering sigh could be heard all over Beacon... Yang's boyband poster, Blake's trailer trees in a painting belonging to Weiss, Blake arranging her books and hiding 'Ninjas of Love.' Do the ninjas like lemons? 😏✨😉. If you know, you know. And Ruby deciding on giving their curtains a makeover.
- From beds on top of each other, to bunk beds. And the second option is actually more dangerous... They really are something special.
- Team RWBY and JNPR be neighbours!!! And need to get to class within five minutes... Ozpin and Glynda are judging them so hard.
- Beowolf?! *war flashbacks*
- Already met DeathStalker and Ursa. Bearbatusk... Nevermore... COOOOOOOOL!
- This teacher must be entertaining to make fun of, am sure. Ruby is sleeping on the first bench. Been there, done that, somehow made it out alive despite my embarrassment.
- So there are four safe spaces or kingdoms. Vale is one of them. Did this full grown man just try to... rizz Yang?
- To that random student doing this: 🤟🏻... Rock on!
- Professor Full-of-Shite... Ruby's drawing is accurate. 😂. Good Gods. This Peter guy really just stole the Beowulf story.
- Ruby is honourable 'cause she understands the importance of sleep. Ruby is dependable because just a moment ago she was balancing an apple AND a book on a pencil that stood vertically. VERTICALLY!
- A true huntsman is supposedly strategic, well-educated and wise... What are the odds Weiss heard the last word as her own name? Very high, it seems. She's bout to fight a Grimm in class now.
- I like their uniforms, but I want the version with pants.
- The Ozpin and Glynda ending where the former's symbol is a gear within a gear, while the latter rocks a crown. The music here sounds so suave and chill!
Season 01 Episode 10: The Badge and the Burden - Pt II
- "A story will be told..."
- Ooooooh! Costume change for Weiss... Cheerleaders Yang, Blake and Ruby are ready as well. So ready in fact that Blake already has a flag of their team. 💖
- Bearbatusk vs Weiss. But it looks more like Ruby vs the Schnee.
- Weiss wasn't made team leader and she is mad at Ruby about it huh... Holy hell, Weiss. Please. That was downright rude. And unnecessary.
- Ruby. You precious little bean. Ozpin is giving off major Dumbledore vibes.
- Weiss and Professor Port's conversation running parallel to the one before. Hmmm... Weiss thinks she should have been the team leader. "That's prepostrous!" 😂. Okie, I like him.
- Ozpin's Dumbledore now. Peter Port, Hagrid. YASSSSSSSS! Someone really needed to dish out the truth to Weiss.
- It's the fact that both Ruby and Weiss received similar advice for me. Try to be the best person first. Everything else will follow after. ✨
- Of course Blake sleeps like she is in a movie. I am Yang but worse. Down to the snoring. Awwwwww! Ruby fell asleep studying. My sister can literally relate right now.
- Coffee with cream and five sugars isn't coffee anymore, methinks. Me likes this version.
- Best leader and best teammate. 💖... Weiss really out here thawing my frozen attitude towards her. I too want bunk beds now.
- Professor Peter Port is his own symbol. 😂👏🏻. Serious music. So good.
Season 01 Episode 11: Jaunedice - Pt I
- Time to open up the door!
- Jaune is getting his arse handed to him. Cardin is blood thirsty. They have headshots?! This school really does it all.
- They WANT them to be on the phone while fighting?! This is the Jaune inferiority complex arc. Kiddo.
- Vytal Festival. The importance is in the name... 😆. RWY is excited. Where be the B?
- "In the middle of the night..." In my dreams. 🎶
- Of course Yang and Nora get along. Yang is hanging onto Nora's every word. Blake has a book, Ren is helping Nora tell the story accurately and Weiss couldn't care less. More accurately, she is interested in cuticle care I guess. Jaune is playing with his food, Ruby and Pyrrha are worried... This table has it all.
- The situation is serious if Blake put down her book... Don't lie Jaune.
- Jaune's in denial. Team CRDL is bothering a lady named Velvet. Fucking hell.
- Cardin is a bully AND a diva.
- They can rocket launch their lockers to custom locations?! Locker launchers... I NEED to be in this school.
- Holy shite. Cardin and team are crossing a line now. Faunus rights really need to be better and implemented well. Wait. Blake is hiding her Faunus self? Awww. 😢
- The Velvet ending. So some folks haven't been given symbols. Gotcha. This music is making me want to cook Team CRDL over a bonfire while I dance in a circle around it. Good stuff!
Season 01 Episode 12: Jaunedice - Pt II
- "In time, your heart will open minds..."
- Jaune is sleeping. I thought he was a good student. Must be having a bad day. The teacher drinks a lot of coffee. Perhaps Jaune needs it too.
- This Professor is faaaaasst.
- Velvet and the other shadow figure raising her hand when asked about being subjected to Faunus subjugation and discrimination. That takes guts. 💖
- Weiss is a sincere student. Expected. The professor is so excited over Jaune's sudden urge to participate... Much kudos to friends like Pyrrha who try to help during situations such as these.
- Good Gods. Cardin is the son of a gun. A tool. He is less than a soldier. Fucking forker.
- This General Lagune tried to ambush folks while they were sleeping?! 🤬
- Blake's jab was so good. Chef's kiss!
- Professor Oobleck has green hair. I just noticed. Anime reference?
- Jaune and Cardin's after class scolding... "If you can't learn from it... You are destined to repeat it." Some people nowadays really need this lesson on history.
- Jaune gets shoved, Cardin is bad. Pyrrha is the best.
- The view is of Hogwarts. 😂
- Listen. The fact that Pyrrha bringing Jaune to a terrace makes him think about dying 'cause he feels he is messing up so much... Good Gods. This is suicidal ideation. Things be bad.
- Huh. I did not see this revelation coming. Really thought Jaune being at Beacon was entirely familial pressure. He didn't really want to be there or something like that, but had nothing else he was passionate about. Plus, expectations are a whole different can of worms. WoW... Still a familial pressure I guess. Just a lot more from his own end.
- Jaune needs to learn a valuable lesson. Holy hell. Heroes aren't made in a day and heroes aren't forged in solitude. He has already tried doing it on his own. Accept Pyrrha's help! Fucking fuckity fuck!!! This toxic masculinity is such a pain.
- Ah hell. Of course Cardin overheard it all... Shikes. Things got a lot more real here than I was expecting.
- Sneaked into Beacon. Now being blackmailed into helping a student cheat. Jaune. You are making me nervous.
- Sometimes the puns are so perfect and flow in such a natural way, it makes you wonder which came first. The original concept or the double entendre. Jaunedice is one such example. Works on so many levels.
- Professor Oobleck ending. Very mischievous music. Needed that pick-me-up.
(No spoiling stuff. Or I spoil your coffee with hot sauce. Tatas!)

Ok so. Actual predictions I make about Yingdu
List under cut
Cheng Xiaoshi dies on screen at least once.
Cheng Xiaoshi dies in a dream and/ or flashback
Xia Fei dies (bonus points if he actually dies in the fire that killed Cheng Xiaoshi at one point. Based on the opening lol)
the two chapters will be split between actual prequel (3 years ago) and the present (current timeline? Or maybe the previous one. Probably somewhere before s1)
(Basing this entirely of 2 things, the 2 different outfits and the fact that Lu Guang said in the first trailer "i think he might be in Yingdu" and "he can't go to Yingdu", which sounds to me like something happened on their overseas trip?)
(Not sure where the flashbacks with the Qiaos or the basketball scene will be in this)
Lu Guang almost drowns (bonus points for cpr. YES I KNOW IT'S NOT A KISS BUT THEIR LIPS TOUCH AND I'M DESPERATE, OK?!)
full scene of the meet cute at the basketball court (but it's not the first timeline)
Vein can control dreams
Xia Fei will betray... someone. I hope it will be Vein and Liu Xiao, but my gut tells me it will be ShiGuang
Xia Fei and the blonde woman are related¹
(If my gf is right and he is her in disguise, I'm gonna scream and laugh, it would be funny)
Xia Fei probably has powers. Whatever they will look like
Vein is not an actual cannibal (praying for this one, I don't want to mute more artists I like)
we will see the Qiaos taking care of Cheng Xiaoshi (bonus points if the whole "I'll give you a ten year loan for rent" is shown as a joke and papa Qiao's way of trying to make cxs think they're not pitying him, so he let's them help him.)
Cheng Xiaoshi gets his powers (gets them or they awaken)
idk if there will be actual backstory for Lu Guang, but I hope so. I wish to see their actual first meeting, though I don't think we will get that in Yingdu. At least not if the white hair theory will be confirmed, what I assume won't happen before s3 when Qiao Ling confronts Lu Guang.
(WELL? We got at least some background on him yet??)
"thank you for your cooperation, sweetie" is said to either Lu Guang or Cheng Xiaoshi after he helped Vein with something that seemed harmless, but lead to something horrible. (Bonus points if he says it to Lu Guang after whatever he did to help lead to Cheng Xiaoshi dying)
we learn something about Cheng Xiaoshi's parents
- a few questions will be answered, but in the end we will be left with more
every episode will end with a cliffhanger so bad I'll cry
I think that's all for now, need to sort my thoughts more for the rest
EDIT after seeing the final PV
Lu Guang's conversation with Liu Xiao about controlling the future has actually nothing to do with Cheng Xiaoshi's death because it hasn't happened at that point. It is the beginning of the Loop, though
Lu Guang's power turns out to be actually different than what we thought it was
EDIT2 after seeing the ending
the man and woman you see from behind are Xia Fei's parents who died in the big fire (blonde woman is his sister and part of me wants to say she thinks she's the only survivor but her brother survived, too. Adding this one solely based on that cipher reading "there is more than one survivor to this disaster". But in the end it doesn't make sense with XF being so prominent as a famous model, so... UGH. There is, again, more to this.)
(still dunno what his agency is though lol)

Ohohohoh starting new year with the idea of an omegaverse Jianghu where omegas are not treated any worse in the Muggle society, but cultivators are quite opposed to them joining the sects and cultivating into battle (it messes with their qi flow, with their reproductive processes, with their mental state, with their heats, etc, etc.) Xiao Xinchen was the last known omega cultivator of any renown and see how that turned out???
So, if omegas want to cultivate, they have to hide their secondary gender behind first suppressants and then, once their cores get large enough, behind steel-wrought control of their bodies and scents.
So, say, post-canon, Nie Huaisang slowly cools on the revenge mastermind front, and notices that the other sect leaders are not doing so hot. Lan Xichen had been in seclusion for over two years and it doesn't seem that hest intending to leave it. The Jin are still struggling with regaining a good name and the young sect leader is constantly under pressure. The Jiang...
Jiang Wanyin is struggling. And no matter how much posturing and performative anger he's throwing around, Huaisang sees him at the sect conferences and the cracks are becoming more prominent. The man is on the trajectory to shattering and NHS can almost see how it will happen.
Regret is an old friend, but now that there's no more scheming to focus on, it rears its ugly head.
He didn't wish for this.
He was willing to do near anything - no matter how despicable - to get back at Meng Yao, no matter who got in his way, yes, he would not deny that. That Jin Ling and, by extension, Jiang Wanyin were pulled into his plot was proof enough (he needed people there to witness A-Yao's downfall, he needed a sect leader from outside of the Great Triad there as a witness and who else was left? If Jin Ling was in danger, Jiang Cheng would unquestionably follow. And who else had the right to revenge on that whoreson, other than Sect Leader Jiang? Meng Yao took his brother away too, after all!)
But he didn't forsee the pain that bringing Wei Wuxian back would cause to both his old friends. For that, if for anything at all, he was sorry.
He thought that Wei Wuxian's presence would fix everything, like it used to. He never suspected that the alpha would ever decide to leave Jiang Cheng behind! From what he knew of them in the past, it seemed inconceivable, their staged split notwithstanding, for the Yunmeng Prides to walk separate paths. Jiang Cheng was always the centre of Wei Wuxian's universe back then, and vice-versa, especially with the Jiang heir being... Well, he thought Wei Wuxian wanted him. That they wanted to be together in the end.
And now Jiang Cheng was still alone, slowly loosing ground under his feet, not even a pup present to distract him from the old pain... The moment his stride broke, he was going to fall and drag the sect behind him. He needed support, a strong alpha to stand at his back for the moment things came to light... Because they would come to light, because no secret remained so within Jianghu.
Good thing that Huaisang knew of a good, strong alpha in need of a purpose that needed to finally face the world.
The only thing left to figure out was how to put the two sect leaders together, how to force Jiang Wanyin to let go of his iron self-control and enter the first heat since the war.
