thinking abt that one post that notes kirk as representation as someone who both loves and experiences love differently, like i fully feel that in my chest.

[making a lil see more cut bc this became a fairly long musing]

but also i dont think we see a whole lot of that irl and it means a lot, ya know ? like i've read people's stories in which seeing tos kirk and the ways in which he loves had been an important part of them coming out as bi or pan and i love that so much.

its not just the attraction to multiple genders, i mean me too i s'pose, but the way that the man is just so goddamn passionate about the world. and i resonate with that so much. i've found that i am able to get super passionate about a wide variety of things (case in point: my expansive knowledge on various bands + trek lore) and having that ability as a journalist is great.

even now, you don't see that in the media and maybe i'm legitimately five and cannot notice things, but you don't see someone who, in spite of everything, is extremely passionate about damn near everything.

and kirk was all this in the sixties ! in that global climate !! absolutely bonkers to think about.

side note: i do not think i will ever get over how ahead of its time tos was, especially in regards to the bridge crew.
