I'd offer more context, but this is most of what I remember. Just picture this hanging up in a hospital exam room or bathroom~

The best fics are the ones that recognize that although Luke Skywalker may APPEAR on the outside to be a normal friendly twink who happens to have cool powers, especially when contrasted with such ship partners as Boba or Din or even Han, he is arguably the scariest person alive in the galaxy around the prequel era. AND, crucially, he is also a fundamentally weird guy. This man was homeschooled on a rural farm his entire life and then apprenticed to a swamp gremlin who showed him how to tap into the cosmic power of the universe. He blew up the death star age 19, killing approx 2 million-ish Imperials. He is a vortex of Force power that can communicate with the ghosts of dead Jedi. He’s staring into the distance and mumbling to himself and doing Yoda aphorisms and casually pulling out the “yeah I could crush that guy into a paste with my mind (:” and nobody around him knows what to do with that. I think he is a character who has very little frame of reference for how a Jedi or a person in general is supposed to act and there is some thing about him that is by necessity really fucking weird and a little scary but he’s so nice that it can throw you off the scent a little bit. About twoish years ago I had this completely inscrutable dream where there was a new cardinal direction (like north, east, west, south) that suddenly started existing and was basically east but on a different directional plane. The name of the dimension/direction called “Crust”.

The way the Crust functioned was that the laws of physics changed where approximately 1 out of every 100 times something attempted to move east as relative to a compass, you’d accidentally cross into the Crust plane and be caught in a weird limbo dimension where your surroundings were a forever-looping snippet of whatever you last saw before entering the Crust. Think of how the infinite stairs in Super Mario 64 or how looping backgrounds in old cartoons like The Flintstones worked. Except, the further you descended into the Crust, the more your surroundings would gradually saturate and grow brighter until you were left with solid opaque white surroundings, and you would completely lose your sense of time and direction if you progressed too far.

This was an issue because the only way to escape the Crust was to move extremely fast westward and hope you could break “through” the crust back into regular reality, and you had to do so through the approximate point you entered the Crust. Some people would travel into the Crust for minutes or hours at a time not realizing they were in the Crust until they were inconveniently far from their starting point. There were even a few individuals who got presumably permanently lost in the Crust when they descended too far in to know how to navigate to their return point.

It got to a level where people in the dream were creating weird, deep-fried memes about how the Crust ruined their commute to work, which @/solsticeinstars and @/morrighancorbel on Twitter tried to make recreations of based on my description. There would be school classes cancelled because their teacher got Crusted and they couldn’t find a substitute in time, or truckers that went missing because they got Crusted while on their route and, tired from the road, didn’t realize they were in it until the point of no return.

I have nothing else to add this dream just haunts me and I needed to share it here

My controversial opinion about Hob Gadling is that I believe he’s absolutely the sort of guy that “puts things behind him”, and tries to wash his hands clean of the things he feels icky about. This is implied pretty well in the show, with him blithely moving from soldiering and robbery to printing, from slaving to… whatever it was he was doing in the 19th century instead. That being said, this is not at all the same as actively trying to atone, or even making a concerted effort to be a better person, and I really wish fandom could tell the difference!

What I love about Hellboy and Abe Sapien's dynamic in the comics is that, if you came into this blind, you'd expect Abe to be the voice of reason or the straight man to Hellboy's impulsive and hotheaded personality. But no, Abe is more often than not the crazy one. Hellboy would deal with fighting evil monsters and bad guys by just sighing and getting it over with, while Abe is going rabid over tearing the creature apart when he does get into a fight. Hellboy acts like it's a 9-to-5 job and will reasonably talk things out with a guy that had nearly killed him before, Abe acts like a madman in a slaughter house and his first instinct is to shoot first kill second and ask third. They're both insane, but on completely different levels.

i feel like I've talked about this before but I wish blazblue dipped more into the horror of the situation. Whether you wanna go cosmic or existential both kind of work, though I guess the theme is a bit more despair than horror? Those two feel like they marry together pretty well.

Like. Think of CS. You have Noel, becoming what she always was, something inhuman. Literally screaming and crying after having the truth of the world and the PFDs revealed to her. You have Ragna, also learning the truth, and that he has tried so, so many times and failed every single time. You have Terumi, relishing in the hopelessness that should cause, yet being just as stuck as everyone else, and painfully aware that if he wants out of this hell, he has to claw his way out.

Idk, I just think there's a lot of stuff in blazblue that lends really well to horror. There's already themes about loss of autonomy, just play a little more into that, emphasize the helplessness before the Master Unit, and then the satisfaction of finally being free.

Hell, the Master Unit/Origin still is sympathetic in this interpretation. She's suffering, she's not doing anything out of malice, she just wants to be a person. Not even the Origin is immune to the horror of being a thing, strung up to watch and desperately try for another ending this time. This time, it'll work.

Aw, man. I gotta document this one while it's still fresh. So I had this really elaborate dream about the woods behind my home growing up. Unlike real life, these had an elaborate cave system behind them. The first cave had an old mine, the second connected back to my basement and had an elaborate well and workshop built in, and the back room of that led into some secret warehouse area. And this leads into a huge underground facility that runs on imagination and is half theme park. And I've just led a bunch of school kids into it to run wild, while the facility goons are really pissed and trying to eliminate everyone. And as it goes, it turns out these aren't just a bunch of kids I grew up with, but the cast of a Saturday morning cartoon. And it just feels incredibly nostalgic seeing them all again, helping each of them escape down a particular maintenence corridor that leads back into the well/workshop area of my basement/cave system. As I go, though, I notice, like, there's a few characters who are missing. The cool but fat kid, the mean bully girl, and a few others. I kind of wake up in the dream? And ask my sister if she can remember what show on One Saturday Morning she can remember that was about these wacky schoolkids. Coz it wasn't Recess or Lloyd in Space or anything. It didn't have a TVTropes page, but we found its name. And apparently it was connected to a shared universe called the Crunchyverse. The principal from that series (who was a diminutive man with a big blond wig and clearly an alien in disguise) actually had his own separate series where he was actually a talking cat pretending to be an alien disguised as a principal. Wild concept, ahead of its time. And just as we're finding out the series' name (which ends up being something like Unclassified), I start to wake up for real. And as I do, I realise that the show never existed, and all the character designs I remembered were from other shows. The jerky kid Edgar was a less-punk recolour of Duncan from Total Drama Island. The cool fat kid was a blended combo of Total Drama's Owen and Mikey from Recess with sunglasses and a backwards hat. The mean girl Kelly was just Kelly from Bobby's World. There was a glasses girl named Marcia, she was probably from something too. And then I really woke up, had to check if there was a show I forgot on One Saturday Morning. Because it really felt so nostalgic, like something I actually watched. Like a cross between Recess and less-remembered show Detention, an elaborately weird school with a slightly older demographic than those shows, and a principal who was an alien in disguise (who was a talking cat in disguise on another program).

like no one jump me for this but can i just say maybeeee some people on twt were moving a little like antis in a way for feeling entitled to knowing about peoples very personal and real relationships with their own sexualities and other people. georgenotfound of all people will never make an hour long coming out video detailing all his trauma and every homophobic experience hes ever had in his life because hes never been the type of person to do that AND HE DOESNT OWE ANYONE THAT INFORMATION! not even dream owes the world anything about personal journey with his sexuality and he has literally discussed it with us multiple times. obviously people will assume and speculate regardless but theres no reason to gossip about it in a space where they can see it in my opinion and in a way that implies they should be forced out of the closet which like. no. no one deserves that type of public pressure just because the genre of coming out youtube video has set the standard for being a publicly out queer content creator or famous person in general

Bad news: That joke post about including Reset + Orchid is definitely not canon. (I legit got sad thinking about Reset being in a universe where Orchid isn't- because their stories are so so intertwined- but Nightmare 100% would NOT risk the whole twins exploding Error's soul thing.)

Good news: This means I COULD include Kane (Reset's older brother who usually dies in timelines where Reset is born) and use it to develope his character a bit more! Also! Perhaps a Blue × Dream kiddo is finally in the stars for me to design?
