Welcome to the Webkinz Tournament

This is THE tournament to determine the best Webkinz out of all of them. Yes, all 1,201+ of them. God cannot stop me. More information under the cut.

Organization:

Images: The available digital avatars of every pet existing from April 2005 to September 2023 will be used in rounds, excluding Li'l Kinz that are not unique designs. Newly added pets that missed the first round may be added into later rounds up until round 6. Avatars were chosen as the standard image as not every pet has a corresponding plush. Images of plushes, pet specific items (PSIs) and pet specific foods (PSFs) are included starting in Round 5. Only Webkinz Classic images are being used, we do not speak of it's cursèd sibling.

Polls: Polls are posted evenly over the course of a week and last 7 days each. There are a lot of Webkinz so there will be a lot of rounds, and too many to bother with reblogs. If you don't want to miss one, peruse the blog. Voters may utilize whatever logic they choose to determine the best pet. After a round is completed, the winners will move onto the next until a final winner is declared. In rounds with an odd number of pets, the final poll will be the odd pet versus a mystery adversary. The mystery challenger cannot move up in the tournament and is just for fun.

Matchups: The bracket is seeded randomly, and the matchups are made by pairing pets down a randomized list. Randomization will be used for every round.

Ties: Only polls that display as an exact 50/50 split will be considered a tie. To break ties, 3 personal friends of the host who did not originally participate will make the final decision.

Propaganda: You are encouraged to make any attempt you like to garner votes for your favorite Webkinz. Have fun. The host, however, will try to avoid commentary until the relevant poll expires.

Tags: Every post will be tagged with the names of the pets in the matchup, as well as a tag for the tournament and a tag for the round.

Example: The most popular pet tournament hosted in 2023 will be tagged #POP2023, and round 10 of that tournament will be tagged #POP2023R10.

Matchups are also tagged with #tournament poll and #poll for increased visibility. Only 1 randomly selected poll a day will be tagged #Webkinz to avoid flooding the tag.

How I, personally, categorize my interests

And a note that I will not defend myself for any of this. Knowing the correct definitions of the terms, I have categorized more or less my own experiences. Cool. Great.

Special interest: something that has, at one point or another, taken over my life for a year or more, not excluding completely changing the way in which I think about/interact with other things--can disengage for a period of time but often comes back at full intensity; examples include Tinkerbell (age 8-15), Frozen (age 12-19), Jacksepticeye (+Egos) (age 15 to present day), Danny Phantom (age 15 to present day).

Hyperfixation: something that, on a lesser level than a special interest, takes over a big chunk of my attention for an indeterminate amount of time, but usually less than a year--rarely they can engage back to full gear; examples include FNAF (age 18 to present day; amounts of time in which I engage fluctuates), Adventure Time/Fionna and Cake (October 2023-February 2024), Welcome Home (May 2023-August 2023).

Passive interests: something that takes up some but not most of my time and/or brain space even if I interact with it regularly; examples include The Owl House, MCYT, Webkinz, Percy Jackson/Greek Mythology.

Journal, 12/8/2023 (cw grief, climate change, animal abuse, child abuse, religion)

I can barely remember any gifts I got except for a few - my 13th birthday, for example, I got Hunger Games in an accidentally large print. It was how I realized I actually had astigmatism because it made me start reading again (much easier). I also remember really liking Webkinz and Littlest Pet Shops. Isn't it weird? How so much of our childhood is defined by our toy franchises but when you're an adult you don't even remember the toys you needed so badly? Actually, I still like Littlest Pet Shops and collecting stuffed animals. I follow some on Tumblr. But I feel like there's a big gap there where it actually wasn't all that important. 

When I think of times I remember most vividly and fondly, it's incredibly boring. I mean that in a good way. I miss sitting on the porch with crackers and a pull tab of tuna, sharing with the stray kitten I had named Billy Joe from Green Day. Before he destroyed it in a fit of rage for BJ using the plot as a litterbox, planting the tomatoes with him was a bittersweet memory. I wonder if he ever regrets how good of a child I could have been if he was safe enough to be around. If you walked towards the cows in the summer after a long rain, you'd have to be careful not to step on any tiny baby toads (the size of fingerprints) hiding in the grass. It makes me upset to think about all the dragonflies, cardinals, salamanders that are dying off. 

I guess it is the animals I remember most. You can still go outside but it feels lonely. When I wanted to end my life, I would sit outside and see all of these animals living and just living for the sake of living, because they hadn't forgotten life was good. How we're killing ourselves. Pesticides and pavement are terrorism. You can only take so much you know. Before you want to go back home. And you know where home is. And you know it looks different now. And yes you'll find joy away from it because you have to, because you don't have a choice. I'd like to think if heaven is being outside without ever being cold or thirsty. 

I would love a job like that. Just the gardener, the tender. Taking care of all of the Earth and the lonely, curious spirits within it. A little less than an angel is all I'd have to be. No one thinks of animals when they read "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares". But I see clips of videos of people rescuing deer from their antlers tangled in fences and that's what reminds me. 

Wouldn't that be such a thing to do? To be an angel and disguise yourself as an animal to ask for mercy? God already did that as a human being. 

What are we doing? Why are we so cruel, not even cruel, but just apathetic? I am not alone in remembering the family and love of wildlife. Even those who say they want to protect animals in the highest think of humans so bitterly. We aren't supposed to be this way. It isn't hard to understand. That's why it hurts. That's why it all hurts. If we believed this is how it ought to be, then no one would be sad over it. We're sad because part of us knows better. We are killing ourselves just as much. There isn't going to be a time when climate change and mass extinction doesn't end the lives of human beings. We're not going to live happy, productive lives without our family. I can't tell you how empty it feels to sit outside to eat without a bird nearby asking for crumbs. I still think of the bee who took my tea as a friend.

I'm not supposed to have an alarm clock. It's supposed to be a Kentucky warbler. 

Do you think people are afraid to believe in God because it means they have to accept the things they've done to creation? As not meaningless, as the horror it is, the horror humanity is capable of against it? To each other? Nihilism would be so easy, wouldn't it? You don't have to mourn a thing. You don't have to accept responsibility... It meant nothing. I think every human dying means the world. It means we failed the world we had. 

You know for the longest time I hated Jesus. Because I was jealous. Honestly. I can say that now. I like to say it, maybe I crave humiliation. 

Let's take everything at word and there was a man who suffered as much, but it was for a good cause. Was my suffering meaningful? What did I sacrifice for? At least Jesus had "good damage" as Diane from Bojack Horseman would say.

I have to believe that despite all I've suffered I have an opportunity to use it for good. To waste it on pity or ending my life would be selfish. It was just an example maybe. We can give it meaning too. We have that right, don't we? Because if we take it at its word: "to the extent that you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to Me" that would mean Jesus already suffered what I did. And that sounds a bit silly, but let's explore how everyone hates themselves! It's natural. Treat yourself as you would... a good friend...

Why would my mom's ex husband poison Jesus' beloved kittens? But he did. And that's the only answer I have. But he did.

I have nothing to be jealous of. It was already done, at the same time. 

That makes it easier for me to conceptualize just how cruel those things were. To beat a dead horse, a dead man, a dead God. To harm a child. You were already forgiven for it. Why must you make it worse? Why must you bury the hole deeper? Can you not appreciate the grace you've been given? The opportunity to have a family...to have me. To have me as your child with all I know now I have to offer my loved ones. I could have been loved by you. But you wasted it because you... Did. You wasted it because you did. I will never know why.

Did it go something like this, though, I wonder:

I have plenty of towels so I will spill as much as I want. 

I have plenty of thread so I will tear as much as I want.

And to that I would respond: “A blazing fire makes flame and brightness out of everything that is thrown into it.” 

And 

You didn't not expect for the tools you put your faith in to be used to heal you. You're the one who has to live with what you've done. I've hurt people. And I've hurt the ones I loved most. I know forgiveness the worst pain. I can only beg for it now. I am the one who has to live with what I've not done.

I'll never see BJ the kitty again. I am so happy I have met him. I'll never see my pappy again. I am so happy he took care of me when his son couldn't. That was all I needed to get where I needed to be. And I have to have faith in that.

Corey and Oats in…

The Great Unicorn Caper.

Corey and Oats always made adventures fun and when they went together they most certainly had the knack for it, exploring new places and making new friends. And today they were going on another new adventure, it was February 9th, 2023 and it had been two weeks since their last adventure and they needed one, luckily Jess and Mariah were both on and that meant they could arrange an outing.

That morning Corey and Oats got up and had breakfast, after their breakfast they got themselves ready to have a shower with Mel, Mel got to the shower and asked Zara to help her turn the shower on, which of course she did and Mel got into the shower and washed up with the duo. After she had a shower she got out and gathered up the friends that were going to be with her for the day which were Corey, Oats, Alcina, Officer W.Blood Cell, Sam Scab, Victor Vaccine and Sam Sars.

The two unicorn friends Prince Whinius and Prince Kazam were also there, they were excited because Jess had brought the game Unstable Unicorns and they wanted to see it. Of course they wanted to give it a go and to put it through the royal test to see how good it was, once they put it through the test, they were delighted as they deemed it to be a very good game and worth playing.

The group had pancakes for morning tea and had quite a bit of time playing around on webkinz, when Ariene was dropped off at New Dawn, Mel and Jess hung out for a little bit and a couple of hours later, the two of them decided to head off.

Mel went to put her shoes on as did Corey and Oats as she gathered up some friends to come along with them, Corey picked Victor Vaccine and Prince Whinnius and Prince Kazaam who both jumped into the bag.

The group got ready to go with Jess as they went out and they hopped in the van, they buckled up and the van took off, they went all through Nile Road and all through the city until they stopped by at a Burger King. Jess pulled up to the drive-through and ordered the 6 dollar chicken burger and fries meal for Mel along with some iced tea.

After picking up their food from the drive-through, they ate their lunch on the way before making their way all the way to Glenfield and heading to the mall. When they arrived at the mall, they got out of the van and decided to look around as they followed Mel and Jess.

They went up the escalator and then headed into the lift and pressed the button which took them down to the floor where Toyworld was in, and they knew what to do. Corey and Oats leaped into the store and looked around, hoping to find the missing unicorns Lola and Fifi there, he saw many toys in the soft toy section but they could not see Lola and Fifi anywhere.

They checked where the Zuru cones where…they saw all the others but not Fifi and Lola, they continuously checked throughout the store, they tried searching for the Wellobeez unicorn next, they last saw him behind some of the other plushes but when they looked he was not there, they continued searching nonetheless.

They saw a tiny version of him and picked that unicorn up, the unicorn named Hygenia hugged Oats and introduced herself, she was a ‘princess of healthy habits’ who taught morals about living a happy life and being healthy and keeping free of germs. After meeting her, the duo stopped at the Warehouse and they looked there…but Fifi and Lola weren’t there either.

Oatsie however saw a unicorn he liked and got Jess to take a photo of her, he also saw a horse he liked that looked a lot like him and he picked that horse up and brought him. They checked in Paper Plus to see if Fifi and Lola were there but they didn’t find them there either, but then Oats asked. ‘Can we go and get Hygenia from Toyworld?’ ‘Sure we can.’

Jess went into Toyworld and bought Hygenia for Oats and Corey, and after that they headed back into the elevator and they headed back to the parking area and headed back to the floating van. The floating van took off and took them all the way back home to Nile Road.

When they got home they greeted Zara as Ariane was also there because they picked her up before coming back, they had some fun in the afternoon and the new horse and Princess Hygenia discovered who they were via through the royal induction ceremony. An hour later Jeemo arrived and they all sang along and had fun.

After Jeemo they got ready for dinner and for dinner they had macaroni and cheese, after finishing their dinner they got to work on a story which is this very story and they had ice cream for dessert and had a bit of a karaoke session, all in all a good day was had by all, and even though they didn’t get what they had searched for, they still had a wonderful time and they thanked Jess for the adventure and sent an email to Jill afterwards.

But just because this adventure is over doesn’t mean more aren’t coming, stay tuned.

Write your RPer Resolutions for 2023! (What are some goals for yourself as a writer? Improve descriptions? Plot with more members? Etc.)

Plot more; I’m very much a hands-off kind of person and often I do not approach people to plot or respond well to other’s coming to me to plot. I think this also just has to do with me and my socialization in general. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants and that’s fine and all but I do think I should probably actually engage in fully planned/developed and laid out plots for once. 

I would say a resolution is to dive into big plots more - but that is a lie. I will not do that even if I say I will. Maybe I can say focus on personal plots more?? idk

do more tasks - but the way this one is going is not a good indication I will follow through on this lmfaooo

/cracks knuckles and pulls out megaphone: No. More. Characters.; That’s right. That’s my resolution. I don’t want a SINGLE NEW CHARACTER in the entire year of 2023. I want to put all of my focus on the three I have currently in continuing, expanding and guiding their storylines and I want to focus solely on them. Like the good ol’days. Like when Lauren had a whole one character and refused to get a second one. Bringing it back. I will not fall to peer pressure. I will not be swayed. I will be strong. I will be brave. ( x )

Greg: Explore relationships and mend the fight between himself and his parents. Get back on the upwards slope. Alternatively - spiral into Greg’s new normal. No in between. Chaos energy only. Graduate his Masters program.  Seb: Get this man a new job, or join the VFD. SOMETHING. He needs purpose. Build bridges between the gaps in his relationships with his brothers. Try and break the attachment to his biological ghost family so he can have peace.  Milo: Originally I wanted him involved in both sides of the fence. I wanted Milo to dip himself into the kinds of things he was raised to do and continue having that moral/family conflict of doing what he knows is right vs what he was raised to think was right. To have him excel in something shady and have to dig his way out of that mess - the problem is he’s like too deep in wanting to impress Pip that it’d be a lot more difficult to pursue this. So perhaps just FINDING HIMSELF.

List one or more characters you have never interacted with that you would like to do so

Doc - Doc is a lil shit and I love watching him cause old-man disgruntlement yet also still be very sweet and kind. I just think he’s neat

Jake - I can’t say I’ve never interacted with Jake, but I’ll consider not having interacted with Jake since 2018 (?) never. Which is surprising because him and Greg had very many potential connections and similar interests and would probably be........... - well not friends, Gregory is complicated but.. friendly. 

Drakken - That’s a chaotic energy I would love to be a part of. 

Talk a bit about your plotting style – what plots are you most drawn to? Do you prefer to come with a fully-formed idea and plot off that, or throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks?

As I think I’ve mentioned before I’m a... Best Supporting Actor kind of plotter. Which means that very rarely do I have this large arching plots for myself or my own characters, but instead am just happy to offer my characters in supporting roles towards other people’s plots. In case you haven’t noticed a lot of my large plots with my own characters often even happen off screen and I just casually drop mentions of it in threads until it finally comes to light (if it even ever does. For example; as mentioned above, Gregory has been completely estranged and hasn’t spoken with his parents since the Ruff to Fluff Re-opening. Did I ever do a formal plotted thread or self-para regarding this? No. Not really. Did I drop minor mentions of it here and there in various threads. Yes lol. This is how I work) Anyways - Which means I am very much in my own regard just a throw stuff and see what happens person. I have never been very good at having big central plots and huge inter-weaving story lines that all come together for one big thing. I’ve always just kind of been like ‘...what if we do x?’ and then see what happens with literally no further information. It’s incredibly hard for me to follow a bullet-point plot or to even plot a fully organized timeline kind of thing. My plotting style for the most part is.......... oh you want to do that? ok. - or ‘I’m going to answer this open’. 

Talk a bit about character relationships – what relationship are you most drawn to? How do you prefer to approach shipping (if at all!)? What, specifically, are you looking for right now for your character relationships? 

I’m very much fond of platonic, found family types of relationships, which...I think is evident if you look at most of my characters or the history of my characters. The large majority of them, if not......... all of them formed found-family relationships the most. Dodger, Greg, Roscoe, Milo, Sebastian. Those are usually the central relationships with my characters. Shipping is probably one of the rarest relationship plots I form if only because my approach to shipping is to........ not approach it at all. All of my ships form simply by authentic in character interactions and seeing where they go. They’re often not at all talked about or even discussed until the relationship/crush/etc is already well established. Right now I’m just looking to grow tighter/closer bonds for all of my characters since I seem to be playing two recluses at the moment and one social puppy who is trying to make friends. I want all of them to grow stronger bonds in friendships, but they do not make it easy. 

Talk about your dash reply style and your Discord reply style! (And if applicable, also your doc reply style). What do you like about each type of interaction? What is something you feel is difficult? 

My dash reply style is based solely on availability. I am definitely not the type of person who can post daily, and often it ends up happening on weekends but I do try to also post throughout the week. I’m also not a ‘few posts a day’ kind of person. When I have the time and the muse, I will literally charge through my entire draft list and spam the dash with every single thread I have at one time. When availability and time allows, I’m also very into back & forth dash RPing!!! Please never be afraid to hit me back right away, I came from RP’s that centered around the back and forth when online style and while I’ve adapted slightly to this RP, I still do enjoy that. Unfortunately, like I said, availability keeps me from replying to dash replies as much as I want to. 

I love a discord thread, if only because the simplicity of being able to reply on the go and anywhere I am at is very nice. Even if I’m away on a trip or on vacation or something, I enjoy still being able to reply to Discord events & threads. I’ll reply to these so long as I’m around and they’re much easier and often take less thought than dash replies so it feels like a far larger amount of development can happen in a much shorter time. Standing events? special events? private server.... just in dms. whatever. love a little back and forth quick rping. little tidbits or musings. always fun. love discord. 

My doc reply style is similar to dash, but also more available as I can reply on the go or wherever. However, the downside to doc replies is I often forget about them and am like ‘oh shit the doc’ because they’re not right in front of me and I’m not just visiting Google Docs every day like I am tumblr or discord. I only really do doc stuff if a) it’s a secret/private thread we want to keep hidden until it’s done. b) it’s a time sensitive thing/heavy thing, c) it was from the past/or for the future and we just know we won’t hit the actual time period on the dash. 

Plotting Exercise! Pick one of the resolutions/goals in #3 and plan a rough guideline to how you could accomplish it. Here’s an example.

Milo seeking help for his curse: 

Milo talks to Pip about trying to break his curse after a series of unsuccessful attempts at finding some kind of good middle ground for what Milo can and can’t do. They discuss some starting ideas and Pip gives Milo people he might be able to talk to. 

Milo goes back to Mim since she’s one of the few people who know about his curse and has tried to help before. He hopes that Mim might have some connections that could help and he gets information on Martin, who also might point him in the direction of other people who could assist. 

Milo meets back up with Pip at Hatters and discusses what he’s discovered (nothing), and laments the fact that he’ll be cursed forever, much to Pip’s disagreement. 

Desperate for some kind of answer, Milo seeks medical help because maybe a doctor can help and tries to get Tibbs or Dian to fix him. Though there’s nothing they can do for a curse and have no choice but to send him away. 

Milo runs into Yzma and spills his secret to a stranger in a fit of desperation - agrees to be a test-dummy for experiments or whatever they need in exchange for any chance of breaking his curse. 

Considering seeking a higher power in the BOARD and see if Swynlake itself has any recommendations or resources for cursed persons. Try to speak with Al, or Isaac. 

Give up.

Something about pets with spots just looks nasty. The signature German shorthaired pointer has a cute plush, but please, keep those in-game spots away from me. Also earth fawn looks like leafeon. Here's a cute image of the dog plush as compensation to whoever this take pisses off.

Reindeer calf's smile sees something in my soul that even I didn't know was there. Fear. It's some kind of fear. He looks cute in-game though, promise. I have to give it to purple goldfish, however, for having the cooler pet specific item (and being purple).

Honestly, poodle and mocha pup are equally as good. Defaulting to poodle for simply being more OG.

Wow I hate the cute octopus, but I hate the pioneer pony's patterning more. From afar, it looks like its flesh is falling off the bone. Put it out of its misery.

Ok, tanuki versus axolotl is a wild matchup. These two are tanks that could easily destroy many other foes, and yet they wound up together. Pity. I sided with tanuki for weeb points.
