The smokebombs will maybe be put to good use. Or for mischief. Who knows.

The candy is gone within the day, though.

Odesyn quickly glanced around for the source of the voice and noticed the half elf, half... goblin? Half elves were rare on their own but half goblins more so. Let alone a combination of the two. He caught on quickly and grinned in surprise, throwing his arms wide. “Hey you! I remember you. You still owe me a drink from that round of cards I won.”

Blood Hunters, Paladins, Dusk Knights, and Those Who Work in the Dark: What’s the Difference Between Them All?

The title says it all, doesn’t it?

There’s 7 people here in the Collective who specialize in fighting evil: @wearepaladin, @weareduskknight, @wearedark-knight, @wearewitchslayer, @wearedemonhunter, @weareinquisitor, and myself, @we-are-blood-hunter. There’s a decent amount of overlap between these, so what is the difference between them all?

I won’t pretend to fully understand each and every one of these classes down to their core, but I think I can get it down to the bare bones. Without further ado…

Let’s start with paladins. Paladins, in a nutshell, are holy champions who have sworn an oath to a deity and take up arms against evil. They are bearers of the light, and they wield that light in battle. See @wearepaladin for a better look at paladins.

Inquisitors share the religious aspect with paladins, but they do not bear the light as paladins do. They also tend to deal with internal matters within their religions, such as heretics. See @weareinquisitor for more information.

Dusk knights are “cloaked hunters,” as @weareduskknight describes them. They work in the shadows, targeting evil but staying hidden until they strike. They don’t come bursting in, light streaming behind them: they tend more toward “subtle” actions.

Witch slayers and demon hunters specifically target witches and demons, respectively. Check out @wearewitchslayer and @wearedemonhunter for more on these warriors.

Dark knights are “good people with bad powers,” to quote @wearedark-knight. They use the darkness against the darkness.

And so we come to the blood hunter. The blood hunter is most similar to the dark knight out of all of these, in that they wield powers associated with the darkness against the darkness. Their powers are different. The blood hunter uses blood magic, alchemical mutagens, ordinary warlock magic, and lycanthropy to battle evil; dark knights wield darkness. Flashback

The winds whipped around the Drunken Clerk as it sailed across the Amber Sea. Sailors rushed back and forth on the deck. Odesyn stood at the bow of the ship, hair whipping back and forth. It was the perfect season to be on the seas. Granted for Odesyn every season was perfect. Hot or cold. He loved the sea. 

A sailor ran up to Odesyn, panting heavily. He must’ve ran across the whole of the ship. He stopped for a brief moment with his hands on his knees to catch his breath. Odesyn patted him on the shoulder, “Whatcha need lad?”. The boy continued his panting before he spoke. “The captain... He wants to speak with you.”

Odesyn nodded then spoke a single word in elvish and worked a little magic to remove the boys exhaustion. Before he could say thank you Odesyn broke off in his own sprint for the wheel of the ship. As he rounded up the stairs and turned toward the older man, he gave a brief bow. As Odesyn raised up he looked out over the horizon. It was there he saw it. 3 ships. Just now showing their masts. He looked at the captain and saw a grave look on his face
