Scott’s Life from Here On Out
Scott will continue practicing adolescent psychiatry in Greensville, both in the Greensville group home and out of the local hospital. (If anyone wants me to bring him in for a therapy session or anything else, hit me up.) The following events will occur in his life/the lives of his children:
Jan/Feb 2020: It is revealed to Scott that he was adopted from birth. He takes a trip to the Philippines to meet his birth mother, Lailani Mendoza, and is met with hostility from her and her husband, Carl-Gabriel Mendoza (who is not his father). His half-sisters and brother, Malaya, Tita, and Vito, are willing to keep in touch with him, but his mother wants nothing to do with him.
The story of his birth is as follows: His mother, who was an undocumented immigrant working as a housemaid, had an affair with a man she met from work. She became pregnant with Scott and decided to put him up for adoption, not wanting her husband, who was at home in the Philippines caring for their daughters (Vito is born 4 years after Scott), to find out. She gave birth in the same hospital where Jennifer and Winston Mallory had lost their baby after the couple was t-boned by a drunk driver (Jennifer was 8 months pregnant at the time of the accident and was also left paralyzed as a result), and arrangements were made for them to take the baby. She was deported shortly after Scott’s birth.
Aug 2022: Scott volunteers to be a sperm donor for Valentina Gomez, who is looking to have a child of her own.
Mar 2023: Malaya contacts Scott and asks him to take her two-year-old girl into his custody. Malaya is dying and doesn’t have long to live, and she wants her baby to live in America and have more opportunities than she and the rest of her family did. He accepts and takes another trip to the Philippines and becomes the legal guardian of Tala Lailani Mendoza; once she is in America, her name is legally changed to Natalia Leila Mallory, but he continues to use Tala as a nickname for her.
May 2023: Luciana Amalia Mallory-Gomez is born. Valentina and Scott are not romantically involved, but they co-parent Luciana. Luciana lives at her mother’s house but frequently spends time with her father and siblings.
Sept 2024: Jonah starts college at St John’s University in Queens. He enters the six year pharmacy program, graduating with his degree in May of 2030.
2023-2029: Miles has a series of serious mental health episodes due to unwanted changes in his life, partially triggered by the presence of Tala and Luci. He is hospitalized several times throughout his adolescence and is given the official diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder comorbid with Bipolar Disorder. He goes through several medication regimens before finding the combination that works for him.
June 2031: Miles, at age 20, graduates high school and begins working as a cashier at the local grocery store.
Jan 2032: Jonah marries Alana Green (Liam Green’s sister), his best friend since middle school. Miles is the best man at the wedding, and Tala and Luci are both junior bridesmaids in Alana’s wedding party. Alana is seven months pregnant with their first child.
Mar 2032: Scott’s first grandchild, Samara Melissa Mallory, is born.
Oct 2034: Scott’s second grandchild, Colton James Mallory, is born.

[won’t ever admit that’s what she wants with him but also expected Scott to know that by now despite her awful way of showing it] So? …That doesn’t mean we can’t have fun in the meantime. [pauses] Before you find your forever after.
[contemplates telling how he actually feels, before saying “fuck it” and letting it all out] Frankly, I felt fucked over when you disappeared and got hitched to that crazy old bastard, and I don’t need to be hurt like that again.

“Oh,” JT responded. “Okay.” JT hesitated before saying genuinely, “It was good seeing you.”
“Sorry for having to leave so abruptly,” he said as he stood up and began putting his jacket on. “Miles gets irritated when I’m late, and I already have to put him on a plane tomorrow, so the less stress, the better. It was good seeing you too, and I hope to see you again before you go back to school.”

That’s too bad, you and I had loads of fun.
That might be true, but in the long-run, it wouldn’t work out. You said so yourself. I want long-term commitment, and I don’t know if that’s what you’re aiming for.

JT blinked, “Never said I was insulted.” A slow tiny smirk inched up at the corner of his lip.
Scott sighed and shook his head. He never fully understood JT when he had him as a client, and still didn’t to this day. Suddenly an alarm went off on his phone, notifying him it was time to pick the boys up. “I should get going.”

“That’s like lying to a kid that if they swing too high on a swing-set they’ll swing all the way around.” JT responded completely deadpan. “Told for the sole purpose to scare into listening to the adult.”
He stared at him for a moment, blinking in surprise at his response before stating, “It was a joke...”

JT involuntarily rolled his eyes at Marias name. He wasnt surprised. But again, he didnt care.
Scott raised a brow at his eye-roll. He knew the two had their strife in the past, but didn’t think it was that bad. “Careful or your eyes will get stuck in the back of your head,” he joked.

JT shrugged at that but didnt say anything. It was what it was. He snorted, “Didnt really care.”
“Hmm, I think you were the only one. People were placing bets, both residents and staff. Maria ended up winning that one.” He still never gave Maria that five dollars and hoped she would forget about it.

JT couldnt help but smile. “Wish I was that lucky to have had that happened when I was still there.” He smirked.
“I’m sorry you had to put up with her.” Scott was only there two times a week, three at the most, but the kids and the full-time staff had to put up with Miss Davis every day while she was there. “By the way, in case you were wondering, her first name was Gail. A lot of people had that question.”

[clears her throat, uncomfortable with showing vulnerability] I’ll get away from that when the divorce is final. In the meantime I’m free to do whatever and whomever I please.
I think I know where you’re going with this, and I don’t think it’s a good idea.
