So we've been thinking about an alternative system for weapons in pathfinder 2e or tabletop rpgs in general.
In a lot of games inspired or branched off from dnd there are often two broad types of weapon groups sometimes 3.
Simple - these are weapons even a farmer can use.
Martial- weapons that more martially inclined classes can use your swords and the like.
And then
Exotic/Advanced/some other name- This section is mixed. In older editions It was called exotic and wa sunfortunately alapped on to weapons that weren't nornal for european fantasy as well as just wepaons that were more complicated to use. In more modern games it tends to be the latter and called advaned or something. (Pathfinder uses another system called rarity that tells you what items are available in different parts of the world)
In the past these groups made a lot of sense. In the past editions you had way more unique proficency lists for each class, Wizards didnt get all simple weapons, rogues got all simple weapons and a handful of martial weapons, etc.
But in pathfinder 2e and after the remaster it is a much more binary choice, your class eithe rgives you simple or martial wepaon proficency and you can take feats to unlock proficency in advanced weapons.
Pathfinder 2e also has traits, these are a list of options that make weapons unique in addition to stuff like damage type, weight, how many hands it uses etc. For instance the reach triat lets you attack baddies further away, while the swep trait makes it easier ro attack multiple adjacent targets.
Lastly pathfinder 2e proficency system isnt a binary of prociency or not it has five stages, untrained, trained, expert, master, legendary.
So what is my proposed alternate system?
What if we removed the simple, martial, and advanced category, since classes already progress your profiency as you level that decides how martialy adapt you are, do we need to seperate weapons? especially since you can do interesting thigs with a staff with more skill and you can absolutely just swing a sword even if you aren't a great fighter.
Now why did I bring up traits! Well easy, I propose that in this system, as you progress from trained to expert and beyond, you unlock more traits for your weapon. This could either be pre selectes traits for said weapon, or perhaps each weapon or weapon group has a pool of traits you can pick from, advancing your fighting style with said weapon and making it your own.
Dont think this could be implemented super easily into pf2e but perhaps in a pathfiner 3e or some other tabletop rpg system. Or if I worked on it more it could be a workable system to implement.

Several items caught my eye this week. More to come later. – NYT had a big story —  a welcome change from the usual campaign horse race stories — on Trump plans for a stronger, more assertive presidency. – New Yorker had good interview with a law professor on how it might work. – WSJ sees a visceral clash among Americans in the 2024 elections. Too much hate and fear. – Anne Applebaum wonders…

Hi can I hear more about your retelling of Ninjago?
Yeah absolutly though im not sure what about it you'd like to hear so I'll just start from the beginning lmao.
(1: Way of the Ninja)The Pilots follow Kai and Nya who have heard stories about the undead rising and stealing people away in the dead of night. Nya believes it to be myth, while Kai is nervous and stays up late at night to keep watch. They go to a market near their village to sell weapons and wind up staying out too late, and get attacked by the undead. Kai briefly holds his own by using fire, before a set of figures in black descend from the trees and fight off the skeletons. Nya is stolen and Kai is badly injured, he's taken to the monastery of spinjitzu for healing and meets the others. He stresses the need to go find his sister and Wu shows up dramatically in the doorway to say that the underworld cannot be easily accessed by mortals and then asks how he got his fire. Kai doesn't know, just that he was born with it.
The story from here is Kai recovering from his injuries and inadvertently becoming acquainted with the other ninja. Kai also knows there must be another way into the underworld and goes through Wu's scrolls and finds one that says dragons can pass through realms. So all he needs is a dragon. Kai recklessly tries to perform a ritual fire dance/art to summon the Dragon of Fire (Protector of Flames) and is stopped by one of the others. Wu says that was dangerous because if he summoned the fire dragon and was deemed unworthy he would be killed. Kai is dejected but Wu agrees to teach him the Way of the Ninja. (roll credits)
(2: The Weaons of Destiny)After that Wu figures they should all find the elemental dragons and travel to the underworld to stop the skeletons from stealing more people. BUT, the ninja are young and inexperienced, so they need weapons to channel their gifts and use them properly so they go to each respective temple (where the original dragons were found, minus the dragons themselves.) to get their weapons. Weapons of prophecy only to be wielded by the new Protectors of the Realm. Kai doesn't care about the prophecy only Nya so when they near the temple of fire and he hears a voice he runs to it without backup. Garmadon taunts him, Nya is in peril, Kai fights the shadow by creating light with his element until Wu shows. He doesn't get Nya back she is taken by Garmadon and told to come down to his realm and fight him properly by the next dawn or she dies.
(3: King of Shadows)Kai and the others focus up and perform the ritual to summon the dragons. They are told they're not ready to become the new protectors of the realm by the dragons, but they will still help. Travel to the underworld, Wu goes to fight Garmadon while the ninja free the captives and fight the skeletons. Wu asks why he kidnapped all these people, and Garmadon needed collective energy of their will (souls?) to create a portal out of the underworld. And with Wu and the ninja down here he finally has enough power to do it. They fight over the portal, Garmadon escapes to an unknown realm, Nya and the other prisoners are saved, and they go back home. Now knowing that they saved the day, but with Garmadon in one of the sixteen realms it's only a matter of time before he shows up again to takeover/end Ninjago.
[I'll probably make another post about Season 1 or upload my google doc for this. Or feel free to ask questions. Ive got most of it mapped out up to season 5. And separate storyline for s8-10. Skybound and Hands of Time were giving me a hard time so i haven't figured them out yet :P]

It's Fictional Throwdown Friday!
This Week's Fighters...
Renee vs The Chosen Undead!
Conditions:
No restrictions. Both sides have absolutely everything.
Scenario:
The Chosen Undead hears of a legendary warrior who can regenerate from nothing but their soul and travels to Engardin to usenit as kindling for the First Flame. Renee refuses to let her soul be used in another cycle of blood and conflict.
Analysis: The Chosen Undead
The world is ending. Not with a bang or a crunch, but with a shuddering, prolonged whimper. The heroes of the land have all either died or gone mad, and the inspirational legends behind them are all nothing but ancient history. Humanity would want nothing more than to roll over and die. Pity that that is the last thing they could do.
Humanity has been cursed with fragments of the all powerful Dark Soul, ensuring that all humans are naturally undead. This meant that they would eventually live long enough to eventually go Hollow, dying a slow and painful death in the throughs of madness as their humanity left them. Exploiting this fact, the Gods used this curse as propaganda to trick humans into sacrificing their fragments of the Dark Soul to fuel the First Flame, the Sun the lights the world and whose creation and existence fuels that concept of time itself. For the Gods feared the power of the Dark Soul and wanted to keep their reign in the Age of Light going for as long as possible.
One of the humans who bore the Dark Soul was the one who would become the Chosen Undead. Shipped up to an aslyum in the North to be contained when they went Hollow, the Chosen Undead was rescued by a giant raven and informed of their destiny. Dropped into the land of Lordran, the Chosen Undead would have to fight their way through the mad gods, fallen heroes, and treacherous monsters to save the world from the Age of Dark.
...Well, I say "save". More like "torturously prolong". It is Dark Souls, after all. There is no true happy endint to your grand quest, whether you ignite the flame to keep the cycle going or let it die to condemn humanity to darkness, Hollowness, and dispair. So what's the point, you may ask? To die. Over and over again, until you succeed. It is the struggle that makes the Undead's journey worth it.
And luckily, The Chosen Undead would find countless weapons and spells to aide them in their journey. The most prominent of which is the Dark Soul itself. By using bits of it as kindling at bonfires, The Chosen Undead can resurrect from the dead, over and over again to retry whatever fight is killing them. Though this process deprives them of all the souls that they've collected and slowly drives them closer to Hollowness, the humans of Dark Souls don't need souls to survive and The Chosen Undead can, to an extent, resist the effects of going Hollow through sheer determination. As long as they don't rage quit, the Chosen Undead can return as many times as they want and eventually win.
And with pockets as deep as theirs, one of their weaons is bound to give them a winning strategy once they learn all your tricks. The Greatsword of Artorius, whose cursed varients can kill ghosts, Gough's Greatbow, a massive bow with pillar sized arrows that csn shoot down dragons, and the Dark Hand, a mark that can warp space itself to create a shield and absorb people's souls, just to name a few.
And they're also a master of sorcery and magic. With spells such as the Homing Soulmass to directly target and home in on a foe's soul, to the Hidden Caster spell to turn themselves invisible. Or, they can just say "fuck magic" and use the Vow of Silence to keep people from casting spells entirely. Helpful for managing their limited magic supply. They can even use their magic to summon heroes from other realms to aide them in combat. Or they can go to other people's realms and invade their lands to steal their things. Try it and I'll shove a great sword up your ass before you finish praising the sun, Dave. And that's on top of being able to reflect damage, control minds, shoot fire balls, and throw sunlight at people. Sunlight that they are fast enough to dodge when being invaded by other Players, mind you.
And all that arsenal isn't being thrown around by a witless dolt either. They've managed to kill Seath the Scaleless, the immortal dragon who invented sorcery in the first place, before carving his ass into the beautiful Moonlight Greatsword. They've killed Nito, the God of Death, The Bed of Chaos, the mother of all demon kind, and Artorius, the greatest knight in history.
But, for all their unrelenting stubbornness, The Chosen Undead does have limits. They are just another cog in the endless cycle of the Ages of Light and Dark. The First Flame created the very concepts of Light and Dark. Energy and Time. Like a mythological big bang. The power that the Chosen Undead would need to power it is immense.... but not limitless. The First Flame will wain again in another thousand years and the cycle will begin anew. And while the Chosen Undead can resist the corruption of Hollowing, even they can eventually succumb. Depends on if you decide to rage quit.
And doesn't that just sum up the entire Dark Souls mythos? And endless cycle of death and suffering, until everything gives up.
Analysis: Renee
Long ago, a powerful being grew bored with her eternal isolation and decided to create the world of Engardin. This being, known as God to her worshippers and Luca to her friends, created all the species of the world. She created the Sea of Souls to house the dead, the Goliaths to protect the ecosystem, the Phoenix to pull the sun into the sky every morning, and the humans to enjoy the world she'd created.
And then, for reasons unknown, God left the world she'd created. And everything immediately went to hell.
Many of the species of Engardin died off without God's power to sustain them. The Humans and the Goliaths went to war, nearly driving each other to extinction amd decimating the world in their brutality. The Goliaths severed the link between the Sea of Souls and Engardin to keep humans from reincarnating, causing the dead to rise as bloodthirsty zombies and ghosts.
Fearing the concept of a permanent death, the human leader, Eseus, begain creating human experiments so as to find a way to subvert mortality. The resulting successes, named the "Essentials", seemed to be what she was looking for, as they had the ability to cheat death by regenerating from nothing but their soul. However, the Essentials rebelled against their creator's mistreatment and escaped to live their own life.
One of the escapees was fatally injured during the escape, losing her memories. Seeking to atone for his race's genocidal atrocities, Ifree, the current Goliath of Pyro or leader of the Goliath people, fused his soul to the girl's to stabilize it, allowing her to survive until she was taken in by a small human village. The village named her Renee and raised her as an ordinary girl.
Renee grew up in the peace that came after the war, with both races trying to put the brutality behind them and survive in the world they'd created. Engardin was seeing an era of tentative hope as everyone adapted to the new normal and Renee was able to live a happy life. Until her village was slaughtered by a strange monster and her mentor was kidnapped by a mysterious figure. "Dying" and "reviving" as a result of her Essential powers, Renee survived the bloodshed and avenged her people, before setting off on a quest to rescue her mentor and discover her past.
In her travels, Renee would become the greatest hero Engardin had ever seen. She would become a master of every weapon imaginable, swords, bows, whips, and scythes among them, and a master of magic second to none. She possed the ability to go intangible, her weapons can hurt and kill ghosts, she's fast enough to dodge light, agile enough to stick to walls, and her numerous magical weapons grant unique boons that allow her to switch her combat style on a dime. Bloodbath feeds on her blood and the blood of her enemies to boost her strength, Sword of the Hermit boosts her strength so long as she believes she can wield it, and the Muramasa can devour souls, at the cost of feeding on the wielders own. Yet, her most powerful weapon is arguably the Nameless sword. The sword that her dear companion Ifree himself used to split the universe between Engardin and the Sea of Souls, cutting humanity off from the afterlife.
Renee has survived visiting the Sea of Souls, despite the experience driving other humans completely mad, and can even regenerate damage done directly to her soul. There is, however, a cost to that. As an Essential, Renee can regrow her body from her soul as often as she likes, but damage done to her soul can slow down the process and outright destruction or absorption of her soul can permanently kill her. Once she discovered this, Renee cast six spells to create a barrier around her soul, preventing the villainous Essential Red Renee from absorbing her soul.
Ultimately, Renee would go on to put her dark past behind her, defeating both Eseus and the new Goliath of Pyro to stop their genocidal plans against the other's race and stop their attempts to restart the war. With the Afterimage of the war finally put to rest and her mentor saved, Renee was free to live her life as she saw fit. After decades of brutality and hardship following the disappearance of God, Engardin would finally know peace and begin to move on...
Throwdown Theme:
youtube
Throwdown Breakdown:
Welp, time to once again ask the age old question: "Which of these characters can kill each other?"
The ability of both to absorb souls is completely irrelevant here. That wouldn't kill the Chosen Undead and Renee's barriers protect her soul from that very kind of attack. Both are about as fast as each other due to both being able to dodge light, both would be constantly switching up their combat styles as they keep dying, and both should be similarly have similarly versatile arsenals. They should even both be comparatively skilled, as they've both taken down the most skilled fighters within their universe. Even the Chosen Undead's ability to control minds is moot, due to Renee's resistance against the mind altering effects of the Sea of Souls.
There is one major advantage, however, that ultimately makes this Renee's game: Power.
The Sea of Souls and the ocean surrounding Engardin have both been stated several times to be literally endless by numerous knowledgeable characters. And Renee is swinging around the sword that split the two apart in the first place. Hell, in the bad ending, Renee is powerful enough to kill Ifree, who himself could light up the entire ocean with a single spell. The ocean is, again, described as literally being infinite in size. Meanwhile, we know full well the First Flame cannot be infinite because... well, then it wouldn't go out in the first place.
Thematically and dynamically.... this is just Frisk vs Chosen Undead again. The Chosen Undead is fighting against someone who can come back as many times as they want just like they can, but the issue is Chosen Undead will eventually go hollow due to not being able to match the infinite power disparity. The victor is from a more optimistic series and their victory in this fight ultimately ties into their series's themes about moving on from great tragedy.
That... was not intentional in the slightest when I made this matchup, that's just where I ended up. In fact, I was fully expecting CU to win this. Apparently the Chosen Undead's real weakness is optimism. If they got therapy, they'd be unstoppable.
This Throwdown's Winner is...

FE Engage PSA about how exactly Emblem Leif works
Emblem Leif has some Interesting Opinions on what the "best weapon" to use with his Adaptable skill is and I've spent too much some time testing it today, determining what I'm pretty sure is the order by which he picks what weapon to put in your hands. If more than one weapon applies, he moves on to the next step, if only one weapon fits he uses that and stops there.
A weapon that can counterattack
A weapon with triangle advantage to get Arms Shield
An effective weapon
Whatever weapon gives you the highest Ddg
Whatever weapon gives you the most Crt
Whatever weapon has the highest Mt (this only checks weapon Mt, not your actual Atk stat, so a physical unit can still switch to a magic weapon and vice versa even if that significantly lowers their damage)
Whatever weapon gives you the most Hit
Whatever weaon gives you the highest Avo
(Disclaimer: I have no idea if anything about this changes if you get doubled with some weapons but not with others. Probably not?)
This results in a couple of weird situations, namely because Ddg is such a huge priority for him, he really likes switching you to the Light Brand even if you don't have any Mag to speak of - the +10 Lck boost puts it very high in his priority. He also prioritizes effective weapons over weapons that would do more damage (such as a strong smash weapon)
What does this mean for how you can make better use of Leif? If your Magic is bad and you're engaged with Leif, you'll want to stay away from axe users to not switch to the Mag-based Light Brand. It also gives a niche to the usually pretty bad Celica engrave, as the Ddg boost can put any axe higher in the Leif Priority than the Killer Axe, and it can also put ranged weapons over the Master Lance or Light Brand against triangle neutral targets like tome or bow users.
It's also a strong case for just not engaging with Leif and simply use him for his stat boosts and free Vantage. Or even deliberately keeping him at bond level 9 so you're not burdened by the incredibly mediocre Master Lance and Light Brand getting in your way if you do want to make use of Adaptable. An example build could be a Warrior or axe Bow Knight, with the Celica engrave on their melee axe of choice and keeping around a Longbow to counter at 3 range. Might be worth trying out.

I have decided, the weaon has a sharp top like an axe, the bottom of a spear, and can be used as a staff
Its all of the melee weapons except a sword
That's actually pretty cool

Welcome to the Blog and Tags
Hi, hi hello. Welcome to the blog!
On this sideblog, there is gonna lots of different things and because of that, I'm gonna properly tag stuff to the best of ability which means including proper tags for OCs and Aus I have made for transformers (with small description tied to them too so if people want to, they can block those tags and what not!). They will also be under the "continue reading thing" so people do not have to scroll pass a massive wall of text.
Besides that, welcome to the station! Enjoy your stay!
Tags (Will be updated as more is added)
OCs #Scylla A former human who lived in the quote on quote perfect family. When her family's neglect and expectations stressed her out to be point of illness and broke Scylla, she snapped at ran away. She meets Shockwave later in life, and by her request, becomes a techno organic. She has an endless hungry and craves the fresh sparks of her victims and fresh meat.
#Light-Seeker A former Decepticon spy and infiltrator who's alt mode is a stealth fighter jet. Light-Seeker harbors the dark secret of being an actual, fully forged Sparkeater made by the Allspark well itself. Despite being a former Decepticon, Light-Seeker is not fond of the cons he worked for, it is not rare for him to actually bad mouth his former co-workers, mainly Megatron and Starscream. #Patch An autobot minicon who's job is to act like a nurse/assistant to medical bots. Her alt mode, while rarely seen only hinted at with her weaon of choice is a Defibrillation! And despite being an autobot, they do not care for the earth nor the organics on it, actually having a distaste for them as she dubs them "Reckless", reminding them a lot of the hot shot racers back on Cybertron. Because of this, Patch speaks solely in cybertronian, making it hard to communicate with her in any organic languages.
#Seamstress or #Polylene A spider insecticons who is based on the Chilean Rose Tarantula. Seamstress is not a fighter, she is a healer. She is able to create heat at the tips of her finger tips, almost acting like a melting bot, and use that heat to melt metals into a goopy consistency before stretching it out and making it into a fine thread which she uses to repair objects or even other transformers.
#Dinero A former aspiring biologist, Dinero studied under one of the many brilliant minds in Cybertron culture. In all accounts, Dinero is technically a triple charger, with a root form, beast form and vehicle form alongside some extra secrets build into his body. He is also much older than he lets on, leading to some distrust he has for many people.
#Lupin Lupin was an experimental super solider made by Shockwave. Shockwave desired to know what would happen if more or less put a hellhound (yes that's an actual Cybertroian animal) on steroids, making something akin to a dire wolf x hellhound fusion adding in his (Shockwave's) intelligence. Which resulted in Lupin. Despite being a con, Lupin is not loyal to the cause nor Megatron, the only thing preventing Lupin from murking Megs is Shockwave.
AUs #Transformers: Armageddon An AU inspired somewhat by the fanfic Stop Me and is set in the prime universe to a degree. It has some apocalyptic, survival AU and can be summarized as "Everything that can go wrong, WILL go wrong." Is also tech a StarPrime StarOP AU
#Lost Light Time Loop Edition When discover Brainstorm in a new universe still had his time machine, Brainstorm, Rodimus, Drift, and Skids try to go back in time to fix everything so nothing bad will happen, but after the time machine is shot during the process, the four end up in a timeloop. And on accident on the first loop, they ended up dragging Whirl in for the ride too. Which becomes a theme, quickly, as they all try to figure out how the fuck to get out of this loop!
