"You mean the fry?" Charles chuckles, pointing. "That's not chicken."

Y/N takes a bite of the fry, pausing to swallow before clearing her throat. "I'm aware," she says with a dramatic tilt of her head and a tight-lipped smile. "I just grabbed it because I fancied a fry." 

"But anyway," she continues, circling back to the initial question, "do... you... see... the... chicken?" Sensing his hesitation, she places her hands firmly on the table. "Look at me. It's a simple yes or no, Charles."

"Well, actually, it's yes or yes," she corrects herself with two affirmative nods, before redirecting her attention back to him.

Charles responds with a smile, though his expression betrays his confusion, evident in the different angles of his raised eyebrows. "Yes, I see it, Y/N."

"And do you taste it?" Y/N asks slowly.

"I haven't yet..."

"So, what are you waiting for?" she claps her hands together, motioning towards the untouched box of food in front of him. "Don't be shy now."

Charles chuckles as he sits up in his chair and leans forward, rummaging through the food before pulling out a chicken nugget. As he dips the piece in some ketchup, his eyes meet Y/N's once more, her wide-eyed nod urging him on.

"Go on."

"Okay, okay," he says, taking a bite. "Mmm," he nods, almost as if someone were holding a gun to his head, compelling him to do so.

"Oh," Y/N purses her lips and shakes her head, "I don't like it when people make noises while eating."

"Uh," Charles swallows and chuckles, "sorry?"

Y/N shrugs. "It's okay, I forgive you."

"Anyway," she inhales deeply, "what do you think? That's some good chicken, right?"

"Yeah, actually, it is really good," Charles nods as he speaks.

Suddenly, the video cuts to a staff member in chicken shop attire standing behind the counter, wearing a smile while staring at the camera, unmoving.

Then, the video returns to Charles and Y/N.

As Charles takes another bite of his chicken nugget, Y/N casually asks, "Do you think our children will like chicken?"

Coughing sounds interrupt as Charles drops his chicken into the box, knocking his fist against his chest until the sound clears. His voice croaks as he speaks, his brows furrowing, "Our children? We're talking about children already?"

Y/N's composure cracks slightly as she chuckles, clearly amused by his reaction, and observes him reaching for a glass of water, taking large gulps. However, she quickly regains control, shrugging nonchalantly before continuing, "Well, yeah. I don't know about you, but I date for marriage—I want a little family of my own someday. Don't you?"

Charles rubs his eyebrows and places the glass back on the table. "Yes, I do want to have a family one day. But this feels like it's moving very fast, don't you think?"

Y/N shakes her head. "Not at all. To be honest, I want one boy and one girl. What about you?"

At Y/N's continued forwardness, Charles releases a laugh, visibly bewildered, before scratching at his beard in deep thought. Propping up his elbows on the table, he finally responds, "I think I want a boy."

"—And a girl," Y/N interjects, smiling expectantly.

Charles blurts out a laugh, clearly taken aback, before nodding. "Yeah, a girl too. I don't really mind."

"Great, so we're on the same page then."

The video cuts off again, this time to the entrance of the chicken shop, slowly panning into the empty and bright interior with multiple tables and chairs. The camera stops on the large menu, featuring pictures of chicken and fries, lingering for a few moments before cutting back to Charles and Y/N. 

However, this time Y/N is holding a piece of paper in front of her.

"So, I hear you're French?" Y/N glances up at Charles, noticing the grimace on his face. Quickly realising her mistake, she corrects herself, "Oh, hold on, no wait, don't kill me please. You speak French, but you're from Monaco—you don't claim France at all."

Charles laughs and nods in agreement. "Correct. I am Monegasque. Those are separate countries, yes."

Y/N purses her lips, her eyes flickering from side to side. "I know, I literally just said that." Clicking her tongue, she exhales a long breath and continues, "Anyway, what a coincidence. I'm actually trying to learn French."

Something flashes in Charles' eyes as he suddenly leans forward in his chair, his expression filled with keen interest. "Oh wow, tu l'es ? Comment vas-tu ?" (translation: "Oh wow, you are? How are you?")

Y/N freezes, her mouth parted slightly in a half-smile. For a moment, she just stares, clearly startled, before scratching the back of her neck and humming deep in thought. "Oh, okay, straight into the deep end, huh?" she chuckles and then blurts out, "Oui, oui?"

Charles tosses his head back, laughing, while Y/N folds her hands together, waiting expressionless for his laughter to subside. When he finally regains his composure, his eyes back on Y/N, she says, "Great, thanks."

"I'm sorry," Charles waves his hand in the air, "I just thought you'd know the basics already. My mistake."

Y/N narrows her gaze at him for a few moments before taking a deep breath. "Well, that's what I've got you here for." Clearing her throat, she tilts her gaze down at the paper and asks, "Let's start easy, shall we? I'm going to give you a few sentences in French, and you translate them back to me in English."

Charles furrows his brows. "Wouldn't it make more sense the other way around?"

"What can I say, I'm special," she shrugs, "I actually learn better this way."

"Ah, of course you are."

"Alright. Je t'aime."

"I love you," says Charles.

Y/N places her hand across her chest. "Aw, Charles. Dropping the L-bomb already, are we?"

Charles drags his teeth across his lower lip while shaking his head. "Next one, please."

“Veux-tu m'épouser?" (translation: "Will you marry me?")

Charles tilts his head sideways, an amused expression spreading across his face. “Seriously?”

Y/N clicks her tongue and shakes her head. “No, that doesn’t quite sound right. I think you might need to brush up on your French, Charles, because I’m pretty sure ‘Veux-tu m'épouser’ does not mean ‘seriously.’”

Exhaling a long breath, she rotates in her seat and straightens up. “Don’t worry though, I’ll give you another chance.”

Charles rolls his eyes playfully before releasing a whistle. Rubbing his hands together, he begins, “Will you marry me. That’s what it mea—”

“Charles!” Y/N's jaw drops as she interrupts him. “Well, I’m a hot commodity, you know? But I want to know, how would our marriage work? I mean, how long are you planning on racing, anyway?”

Charles smiles, slumping into his seat as he reaches for a fry and tosses it into his mouth. “I’m not sure, to be honest. I love racing and I want to be a world champion, so we’ll just have to see how long that takes.”

“You want to be a world champion, yet you extended your contract with Ferrari?” Y/N's brows furrow inquisitively. “That’s an interesting choice.”

A couple of chuckles escape Charles as he runs his hand up and down his neck, his gaze fixed on the half-empty box of food before him. After a moment's pause, he replies with a casual shrug, “They're like family to me. And honestly, when I see myself winning, it’s always with the Ferrari team by my side.”

“Fair enough,” Y/N exhales, her eyes widening as she claps her hands together. “I suppose I'll have to stock up on red outfits.”

Noticing Charles’ puzzled expression, Y/N theatrically rolls her eyes before explaining, “For our next date, silly. I’ll be your lucky charm, and then you can finally start winning and have a real shot at the World Championship.”

“Wow, how nice of you, Y/N,” Charles responds with a lazy smile. “Merci.”

“Oooh,” Y/N points at him, nodding in satisfaction, “I know that one. You’re welcome…”

“…Boyfriend?” she asks, narrowing her eyes at him. “What—what are we?”

He ponders for a moment, swaying slightly from side to side, then relents, “Okay, sure… girlfriend.”

The video cuts to the outro, displaying various polaroids of Y/N flashing by, accompanied by a text reading, ‘If you enjoyed the video, please don’t forget to like and subscribe for more! xx’.

I love talking about these two and especially the earlier stages of their relationship lol I talked about it in this post + wrote some hcs about their first time too.

I feel like they were getting closer and closer very quickly as they continued talking to each other every day, and then at some point the tension just got too strong. Maybe there would be sense for them to talk about their feelings, but it was the kind of situation when it was obvious even without words. So none of them really asked the other one out, but at some point they just started “dating”…

Maybe this isn’t how Vil imagined his first proper relationship to start, but it’s not like he wasn’t just as passionate as Rook was lol

Their little chats were their “dates” technically. But I think they had their first “proper date”(=going somewhere) after they started making out and having sex.

We don’t ship him with anyone yet because we haven’t seen anything of him, but based on things we already know, it feels like he is going to join the top squad. But until we actually see him and learn how he interacts with others and what dynamics he has with people around him, we can’t say for certain.

So I've been lucky enough to be dating J for almost 2 years now.

We started dating on August 4, 2022. At this point, we'd been roommates for a year already. I'd known I had a crush on her since December, but had convinced myself that it was just a temporary thing. And also something that I needed to get over because at the time she was very anti-marriage due to personal reasons that I'm not going to get into.

We had been doing the whole long distance friendship thing that summer due to the fact that our hometowns are 4 hours apart. I had convinced myself that time away from her was going to make my little crush go away. If anything, it only made it worse. We were doing all kinds of phone calls and FaceTime calls. There were a couple of times that we had one day that lined up so one of us got up super early to make the 4 hour drive to the other's town just to spend the day together for the day and then make the 4 hour drive back that night.

None of this was helpful for my little crush. In fact, it made me convince myself that mayhaps she liked me back.

On one of my visits to her town, I had nearly convinced myself to confess my feelings to her. I made a joke about one of my friends joking about her being my girlfriend, something that had been a recurring joke for a while now with that friend. That friend is TBH the reason we got together, but we're not gonna talk about that.

She admitted that she had a crush on one of her friends from high school, crushing my little heart just a little bit.

However, she was still acting the same. We fell asleep on FaceTime. She got better and better at texting just so she could talk to me. No one else (even to this day) gets as good of a response time from her as I did/do. My friend finally convinced me to confess my feelings, so I wrote out a little thing and sent it to the "jury" to have it approved.

I sent it over text. Clearly it wasn't going to happen in person, so I sent it via text.

Still, nothing changed about our relationship. She said she needed time to consider her feelings. I gave her space. It started to feel like teasing. She eventually made another visit to my town. She didn't say anything about it.

A few days later, I was feeling hurt and frustrated. She still hadn't said anything about her feelings towards me, in either direction. She hadn't given me any indication whether there was something there or if I needed to drop it. I asked her to give me an answer one way or the other because I *really* needed to know.

We got on a call. There were a couple of times that I could tell she wanted to say something, but I wasn't going to force it. We fell asleep on that call. Neither of us had anything to do the next day, so we just stayed on the call. Around 1, she finally got the words out. "I think I like you too."

"Shall we make it official then?"

She blushed and did her adorable little smile that I just love so much and nodded. And just like that, it begins.

The next few weeks were a little awkward as we figured out how now being girlfriends changed our relationship. We moved back to our campus, both of us coming earlier than the crowd. Me for band camp, her for auditions. We both tiptoed around each other, nervous to make the move into physical intimacy.

We were watching a stupid Twilight knock-off when I finally got the courage to put my head on her shoulder, which ripped the bandaid off for our physical touch. We started cuddling with every movie night. Eventually, it got to a point that we admitted to each other that we had a hard time getting into bed after movie night because we didn't want to go to our separate beds, so we started sleeping in the same bed.

Eventually, we were playfully kissing each other's faces on the floor of the dorm room that we shared. She stops and says that she wants to kiss me for real. I tell her that I've been dropping hints that that's what I wanted all night long. We shared our first kiss.

I admitted to her that it was my first kiss ever. She asks me if she can kiss me again.

I don't remember how it came up, but I do remember that I was the first one to say I love you, some night curled up snuggling in bed together. She immediately said it back.

We spend our first Thanksgiving together, driving back and forth across the state to make sure that we hit everyone. I meet some of her family (I had met a lot of them on previous visits to her town) and she met the majority of mine. One of my grandma's brothers jokingly asked her to pray, causing her to have a minor freak out because she didn't know how my family would react if she said no.

Christmas break was hard. It was the first time that we had to spend a significant amount of time apart since we'd started dating. We didn't get to spend Christmas together, we didn't get to spend her birthday together.

Coming back to campus, I was a little worried that we would lose all of the progress in our relationship that we'd made before break, but we didn't. We immediately got to talking again, just like normal.

It was the most natural thing in the world.

We had some shenanigans throughout the rest of the semester, and supported each other through some really, really hard times (that was a *bad* semester for both of us). I joined her fraternity that she'd been pestering me about for years.

We start having bigger conversations. Getting married is now on the table. Not immediately, but it now becomes something that is on our minds. I start a google folder to start collecting ideas for it.

I spent the first few days of summer break that year in her town. We had more time to explore than we ever had before, so I really got to know the town a little bit better. We said goodbye, and it was hard. However, we already had lots of plans on the calendar that we could point to and say "hey, that's the next time I get to see you."

We spent our second pride together (first as a couple). She brought her friend who has kind of become our unofficial third wheel (if we are ever hanging out with only one of her friends, it is usually that one). My dad invited her on our San Francisco trip, so she tagged along for that. She ended up staying an extra day after she got back, so we got to explore the city that is closest to me more than we had ever gotten to before.

I had to move back to campus almost a month early, having gotten a job on campus that required me to be at the desk for that time before the school year started. I needed to be there for move-in and such.

We (by pure luck of my new boss being the nicest person ever) got to spend our first anniversary together in her town.

She moved back to campus for a wild ride. It was going to be her last semester on campus. She had her senior recital coming up, and mostly a lot of other lasts.

We were invited to attend a friend of hers' wedding. It was the first wedding either of us had gone to that our parents weren't at. She was an usher/the emcee for the reception, but it still meant that I got a crap ton of time around her that night. I think that put us both in our feels and we both start getting really mushy about the whole thing.

She has her senior recital on the bass trombone. It was over in a flash, but I could not be more proud of her. She did such an amazing job with it, and I could not imagine it going better. It was such a cool experience getting to watch her up there all in her element, doing the thing she loves most in the world. It is the biggest performance of her degree, and she absolutely NAILS it. We also get to hang out with one of my best friends from high school (who drove all the way to our college campus with her boyfriend {who I hadn't met anywhere that wasn't a funeral} just because she also wanted to support J in her recital).

For Thanksgiving break, we start packing up some of J's things. The stuff that she isn't going to need anymore. Anything that we can to make her big move our in December a little easier. We make more trips back and forth across the state to hit everyone. She gets to meet my family from out-of-state and hold a baby for the first time ever in her life.

The first few weeks of December are a mess. I'm trying to get my new major figured out while also staying on top of my incredibly demanding current major and prepping for juries. She is wrapping up loose ends as her time in college comes to an end.

We have the hardest goodbye we've ever had. Once all of her stuff was packed up and ready to head back to her hometown, there was no telling when we would see each other again. We were both going to be busy with work and stuff all of break, and she wouldn't be returning to campus in January.

By luck and luck alone, I had a three-day weekend leading up to New Year's. I texted her mom telling her that I was going to surprise her. By this point, we did have a visit day picked out for her to come visit at school, so I was able to hide my excitement of getting to come surprise her through being excited about that later day.

I knock on her door. She yells that she's not decent. I didn't want to let her know that it was me, so I knock again. She opens the door. Her jaw drops.

I get to officially meet her brother who lives out of the country and his girlfriend who is from the country that he lives in. I get to spend New Year's with them in person instead of via FaceTime in my room. Her friends come over. Her brother's friends come over. We all gather in the living room to watch the ball drop.

I get my first ever New Year's Kiss.

We say goodbye at the end of the weekend, easier knowing that the next time I get to see her is already all planned out. Still hard though.

I move back to campus and prep myself to start in a whole new major where I'm essentially a first year and I do not know *anyone*.

The first visit gets postponed for weather. She starts student teaching. That, too, gets interrupted a lot by the weather. Once the weather calmed down, she made her first visit back to campus and came to visit a meeting in our fraternity to say hello to all of our sisters.

I trudge through a lot of snow. Days that probably should have gotten cancelled due to being cold or icey. But really finding myself in it. Getting myself ready for my spring semester job that inspired me to change my major to begin with. The best job I will ever have.

We have more visits. We have more people pledge into our chapter.

Our spring break ends up lining up perfectly so we spend the entire time together.

We travel a few weeks later to watch the Sonic Symphony. I come to watch her conduct her first concert ever. The kids treat me like I'm a celebrity.

I finish the semester strong, stronger than I've ever had a semester in the history of college.

I get to watch the love of my life walk across the stage for her graduation. She graduates with having the honor of having the highest grades in our chapter. She also walks with the honor of the HIGHEST award that our school offers graduates. Only one person per department gets it. To get it, you have to have high grades and an amazing character. It is a medal that she gets to walk with.

She helps me finish packing up my car. We drive together to her town, which has now become our town as I now live with her.

We have set specific financial goals that we would like to accomplish before we start saving for a wedding. We have set a number to have saved to start wedding planning.

We spent our third pride together, living our absolute best lives.

This August, we will celebrate our 2nd anniversary with her helping me move in because I am now an RA at our college and need to be there early.

I cannot even begin to put words to how lucky I am to have her. She is my absolute world and I don't have a single clue in the world of what I'd do without her. She is my rock, my confident, my everything. She has been there for me when I needed her. She always knows how to make me smile. She makes the every day stuff *fun*. I love getting to run errands with her, plan out our breaks so that we can make sure to visit everyone. We work incredibly well together as a team and we are able to compliment each other incredibly well.

She inspires me to be a better person, because she deserves the absolute best and I want to be the absolute best for her.

She treats me like an absolute princess.

She is the gift that I have been so, so, *so* incredibly lucky to receive.

I love her so very, very much. I'm living in a massive fairytale. There is nothing I could want more than I want to have her by my side for my entire life. I cannot *wait* to get to be married to her and build our entire lives together.

What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: as a kid, my knee was kicked out in a soccer match when i was in middle school, it made me tip backwards, skid ten feet on muddy field, slam my shoulder into the goal post and almost pass out. i still have joint issues in my knees and right shoulder.

as an adult, i was bit by an older dog at work. he clamped down twice on my right elbow, right on the joint/bone. i had to got to the ER, it was pretty gruesome and I still have some nerve issues in the area from it. was super lucky not to have a serious infection from it. i shouldn't have worked for a few weeks but i went back after a week cause the company i worked at was so toxic.

Do you have any obsessions right now?: at this very moment, making sure my younger dog doesn't chew his stitches out. i had to put my headphones on so i stopped fixating on him.

i've also been working on a few plot ideas for a book rn though. its hard to find time for that with work and everything though.

I get that we're not entitled to shit, but i'm tired of seeing everyone getting multiple cool pets while I get crappy pets every. Single. Year. For 10 fucking years. I'm very salty. I don't need something super expensive, I just want to adopt something cool. Staff pet? Malk? Even another dog honestly. Just stop giving me rats, horses and ponies, please. I beg you, CS. I stg i'm ninjaing someone next year if I don't get at least 1 from an ok species. I'm done being happy for other people. In January I started re-watching all 60 years of Doctor Who from the beginning and tweeting about my thoughts.

Serial : An Unearthly Child : Episode 1 - Hartnell!Doctor is the personification of snark. Susan is adorable. Ian "Barbara, you can't!" Chesterton is exactly as expected. Barbara is my favourite.

Serial : An Unearthly Child : Episode 2 - Hartnell!Doctor immediately getting out his pipe to smoke reminds me of my grandad. Ian continues to be unimpressive. Barbara is still my favourite.

Serial : An Unearthly Child : Episode 3 - Okay, Barbara has become slightly hysterical, but she's the first person to go to someone's rescue. I love her. Ian is at least being practical.

Serial : An Unearthly Child : Episode 4 - Hartnell!Doctor doesn't really do much except complain. It's lucky Ian's there tbh. And we're done with Serial 1. Straight into Serial 2 with epic radiation... dun dun dun

Serial: The Daleks: Ep.1 - Barbara is completely fed up with the Hartnell!Doctor. I don't blame her. Ian has crushed Susan's flower (not a metaphor) so he's back in my bad books. He's lost his overcoat but he's still wearing his cardigan and tie.

Serial: The Daleks: Ep.2 - The Doctor is a lying liar. No shocks there. Barbara is being menaced by a sink plunger. The Daleks are a) genuinely quite scary and b) a lot nicer on first acquaintance than I thought they'd be.

Serial: The Daleks: Ep.3 - The Daleks are sneaky bastards. And also hilarious. No, seriously, they are very funny - all the best bad guys are. I kind of love them.

Serial: The Daleks: Ep.4 - Ian is stuck in a Dalek. Hartnell!Doctor is all for leaving him. Why do the Daleks have the slowest lift in the universe? Oh, the Doctor can't open the door. You need a sonic screwdriver, mate. Ian's still in his cardigan and tie, but he's unbuttoned his top two shirt buttons, so you know shit is about to go down. The Thals are all very blonde. "Are they really pacifists though?" Come on now, Barbara.

Serial: The Daleks: Ep.5 - Barbara is now the Doctor's fave because she agrees with him. Obviously, Ian is very frustrated because he's taken off his tie.

Serial: The Daleks: Ep.6 - They're lucky all of these aliens use the Imperial measurement system. Ganatus has a huge crush on Barbara - probably because he's never seen someone with dark hair before.

Serial: The Daleks: Ep.7 - My favourite part is when Barbara breaks the polystyrene wall. And the crying Dalek. "I never give advice." Hartnell!Doctor says. LOL, I say. Barbara you should have stayed there with Ganatus!

Serial: The Edge of Destruction: Ep 1 - Everyone's gone mad. Barbara telling Hartnell!Doctor off is pretty awesome. Now of course he's drugging everyone. Susan seems to be spending this episode dressed as a monk. Ian sleeps in a very fancy dressing gown.

Serial: The Edge of Destruction: Ep 2 - Barbara also sleeps dressed as a monk. She's the smartest of all of them. Hartnell!Doctor - "My machine can't think." The TARDIS - "Hold my beer!"

Marco Polo is missing so we move on to Serial: The Keys of Marinus: Ep.1 - OMG the little model of the TARDIS is adorable. Ian is wearing... I don't know what but he's gone super-cas all of a sudden. Barbara looks fantastic. Hartnell!Doctor is very suspicious of everything.

Serial: The Keys of Marinus: Ep.2 - Barbara is living her best life. The slug brains are pretty sinister. This is the start of all companions wandering off on their own and getting into mischief isn't it?

Serial: The Keys of Marinus: Ep.3 - The plants are trying to eat Susan. The statues are trying to eat Barbara. This is a lot of fun. A bit like The Crystal Maze only with more potential for death.

Serial: The Keys of Marinus: Ep.4 -I think Ghostbusters stole this incidental music. If Barbara dies I will riot. (I know she doesn't, I just love her a lot) This is a really fun serial. Doctor-lite for the first time but honestly not missing much because of that.

Serial: The Keys of Marinus: Ep.5 - Finally Hartnell!Doctor turns up just in time to defend Ian at his murder trial. This all escalated quickly. Ian: "What can I do?" Hartnell!Doctor: "Trust me." Ian, internally: "I'm dead."

Serial: The Keys of Marinus: Ep.6 - That was a proper Scooby-Doo reveal. Ian saved the day with a good old-fashioned switcheroo. I really loved that story.

Serial: The Aztecs: Ep.1 - Barbara is "mistaken" for a goddess again. Hartnell!Doctor is on a date. Ian is now wearing the most gorgeous bird outfit so he can assist in a human sacrifice. Hartnell!Doctor tells him to get on with it and stop whining.

Serial: The Aztecs: Ep.2 - Barbara is now the Doctor's fave too, even if she is an idiot. Wow, Ian used the Vulcan nerve pinch. I think Barbara is the Doctor's favourite because he's an idiot too.

Serial: The Aztecs: Ep.3 - The Doctor is engaged and has accidentally almost killed Ian. Barbara is letting the power go to her head. Susan's top marks in school mean she wins a husband!

Serial: The Aztecs: Ep.4 - Not my favourite story so far but I like that it was treated like a Shakespearean tragedy.

Serial: The Sensorites: Ep.1 - Ian knows the Doctor is a lying liar. Barbara looks amazing. The Sensorites look pretty creepy. *shudders*

Serial: The Sensorites: Ep.2 - Barbara remains my absolute favourite and the only one today who has any common sense.

Serial: The Sensorites: Ep.3 - Poor Ian's dying. I feel like the wardrobe department was really phoning it in with the Sensorite costumes. The heads are great. The bodies are awful.

Serial: The Sensorites: Ep.4 - Hartnell!Doctor has a swishy cape. Ian and Susan miss Barbara almost as much as I do.

Serial: The Sensorites: Ep.5 & 6 - Barbara has been back for two minutes and has already worked out everything that's going on. I think I missed commenting on one. I did enjoy the last scene between the Doctor and Susan.

The Reign of Terror is missing two episodes, so we're on to Season 2! 

Serial: Planet of Giants: Ep.1 - Giving me extreme Land of the Giants flashbacks. Fun fact about me, I hate giant things - they scare me. Hartnell!Doctor is all about swishy capes now.

Serial: Planet of Giants: Ep.2 - This is quite dark for Doctor Who. Ian, maybe if you listened to Barbara once in a while she wouldn't be in trouble now I am sad I'm not going to see a paperclip ladder. Susan and the Doctor sitting on a plug hole has made up for it.

Serial: Planet of Giants: Ep.3 - This is a great serial. Everyone seems to be having a lot of fun. I still love the tiny little TARDIS model. And Barbara is safe, so all's well that ends well.

Serial: The Dalek Invasion of Earth: I love the location filming. Barbara cooks; Susan eats - even if she does deserve a smacked bottom (the Doctor's words not mine). The Dalek emerging from the water! Amazing.

Serial: The Romans: Ep.1 - It will come as no surprise to you that I think Barbara looks like an angel in her Roman dress. I think this is the first episode I've really shipped Ian and Barbara.

Serial: The Romans: Ep.2 - Hartnell!Doctor loves a punch-up. Barbara has been sold for 10,000 sesterces, which seems cheap to me. Ian is going to be a gladiator!

Serial: The Romans: Ep.3 - Thid has turned into a farce. Nero is chasing Barbara around the corridors. The Doctor is giggling at everything. Vicki is learning all about becoming the royal poisoner.

Serial: The Romans: Ep.4 - Hartnell!Doctor has inspired Nero to burn down Rome and create Neropolis. Barbara and Ian have been reunited at last, with the least romantic hug in history. Just kiss her, you fool!

Serial: The Web Planet: Ep.1 - Hartnell! Doctor is dressed as an ice-cream man. There are giant ant people. The Doctor hasnt stopped laughing for 3 episodes now. I'm worried about him.

Serial: The Web Planet: Ep.2 - Barbara has been captured by the bee (?) people, then escaped, then been captured again. I think the bee people are the good guys? There's also a random giant earwig. This serial is so noisy!

Serial: The Web Planet: Ep.3 & 4 - This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. I have no idea what's happening. I'm not surprised Ian and Barbara left soon after.

Serial: The Web Planet: Ep.5 - People dressed as bees are dancing at people dressed as ants. The people dressed as ants are beeping. The people dressed as bees are squeaking. One of the woodlice is called Lemony? There's a giant papier-mâché jellyfish. 

The Crusade is missing two episodes so we're skipping to The Space Museum.

Serial: The Space Museum: Ep.1 - The complete opposite of the previous serial. That was so much fun. I love wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Serial: The Space Museum: Ep.2 - Everyone is being their very best selves. The Doctor is trolling the aliens. Ian is trying to rip Barbara's cardigan with his teeth (when he has a knife). Barbara is perfect as always.

Serial: The Space Museum: Ep.3 & 4 - Not as good as the initial build up but I enjoyed this serial so much. It was a lot of fun

Serial: The Chase: Ep.1 - Hartnell!Doctor has built a Time TV which is an amazing concept. Barbara thinks the Doctor's singing is terrible noise and she's not wrong. There are fish people.

Serial: The Chase: Ep.2 - The Daleks are still hilarious. Everything they say sounds sarcastic. I love them. A stone jellyfish just ate a fish man. Ian is now taunting the Daleks - one of them fell into a hole.

Serial: The Chase: Ep.3 - Visits to New York and the Mary Celeste. This serial is so much fun! Poor Ian, getting whacked by Vicki. Barbara, as always, is a mood.

Serial: The Chase: Ep.4 - Dracula is here; Ian doesn't like vampire bats, Hartnell!Doctor is only speedy when running from Frankenstein's monster. Poor Vicki can't catch a break. The Doctor's doppelganger is hilariously awful at first.

Serial: The Chase: Ep.5 - Robo!Doctor is awful but very easy to kill. A tree tried to eat Vicki (only slightly funny), then a Dalek (very very funny).

Serial: The Chase: Ep.6 - Hello Steven! Goodbye Ian and Barbara, my beloved. I have enjoyed you as companions. I'm glad you live happily ever after.

Serial: The Time Meddler: Ep.1 - Hartnell!Doctor doesn't like being called Doc. I don't blame him. Steven looks better with the beard.

Serial: The Time Meddler: Ep.2 - Vicki is in charge now - thank goodness because Steve is a dummy in this. Peter Butterworth is great.

Serial: The Time Meddler: Ep.3 - Hartnell!Doctor is actually barking mad. Ooo, the Monk has a TARDIS!

Serial: The Time Meddler: Ep.4 - And we've reached the end of Season 2. I miss Ian and Barbara already - I did enjoy this serial though.

Season 3: Galaxy 4, Mission to the Unknown, The Myth Makers, The Dalek's Master Plan and The Massacre are all missing episodes so we start this season with The Ark. Goodbye Vicki! Hello Dodo!

Serial: The Ark: Ep.1 - Dodo is going to kill the last of humanity with her cold isn't she? A great start. She's not winning any points with me so far.

Serial: The Ark: Ep.2 - Everyone in this story is stupid. Real covid vibes. I love the animals though! And it ends with a giant statue - literally one of my biggest fears.

Serial: The Ark: Ep.3 - Dodo is getting on my nerves a bit. This feels like two completely different stories mashed together into something even more ridiculous.

Serial: The Ark: Ep.4 - Well that serial was underwhelming. I don't have a lot to say about it. The Celestial Toymaker is mostly missing, so next up is The Gunfighters.

Serial: The Gunfighters: Ep.1-4 - Wow. That was bad. So, bad. So much singing. Ugh.

The Savages is missing - bye bye Steven - so on to The War Machines

Serial: The War Machines: Ep.1 - Hello, Polly. Hello, Ben. Real 60s dancing, a punch-up and the first incarnation of Skynet! I like it.

Serial: The War Machines: Ep.2 - And it's goodbye to Dodo too - she won't be missed by me. The evil computer has given itself an incredibly stupid body.

Serial: The War Machines: Ep.3 - I do like Ben and Polly. I especially like Polly's eye makeup. I also like that the BT tower is the centre of this serial, since it's basically an enormous sonic screwdriver.

Serial: The War Machines: Ep.4 - I enjoyed that a lot. Ben and Polly are great. It's a pity there aren't any more whole adventures to watch them in. Tomorrow, Hartnell!Doctor round up and on to Troughton!Doctor

My mistake. The Smuggler's is missing but there's enough of The Tenth Planet to watch the regeneration. 

Serial: The Tenth Planet: Ep.2 - The Cybermen are creepier in this serial than I've ever seen them. Must be those white rubber masks they're wearing. *shudders*

Serial: The Tenth Planet: Ep.4 - Ooo the first animated episode. Ben calling the Cyber-men "geezers" is peak comedy. And Hartnell!Doctor has regenerated!

longer seasons - i don't think this will happen, if miracle mods show up i might stamp them on in a different color but from what i've found it's pretty ingrained in the game that 28 days is the longest and if modders we're going to crack it they might've done it already but when im playing on pretty long life spans i just 💔💔 50+ days seasons would be the dream, but i'd be happy with 45 👀 10 outfits per category - same as before ig, this is probably super niche but i'm not satisfied and i hate having to get into cas to change it up so much bc in my head they have a closet each and i want to mix and match pieces in a realistic way 👚 pack refreshes - tbf, they did set up an expectation for that one which for the looks of it they are done with it; there's so much to fix, dine out in general, mermaids deserve some love in comparison to the other occults, updates to the bodies of water (going in the water in windenburg would be legendary), hu just bug fixes and compatiblity here and there would be nice (more hiking ? power walks in more places? its so weird how they are restricted to ONE place) now by world refreshes - i mean that in my dreams they go back and expand the maps they give us 🗺️🗺️ im greedy and want 2 neighbourhoods for my vampires & spellcasters, a lil more space in moonwood mill, granite falls & del sol valley too why not not gonna happen so i can say wtv an extra space in mt komorebi with apartments and since we're at it in san sequoia too; will def not happen working gallery - ig that might be coming too ?? idk my gallery sucks at times like it wont find any results when there are ?? and i know there are bc if i restrict more it might come up with something?? also just wanted better mechanism for the searches, i never had issues with disturbing content showing up tho so idk i heard some simmers weren't so lucky

bigger households - having to control or monitor 8 human/humanish sims is challeging enough but because pets, because having to fake apartments, because reasons; i use mccc but this workaround brings issues in cas so yea, wishlist ✔️ snakes // lizards - this would've been appropriate to launch with horses imo and i'd love if there had been interaction/compatibility from snakes in the wild and those taller friends & other small pets - small pet options in ts4 are non existent, sorry, birds only exist in that one tree (they are probably happy about not being captive actually), bunnies are also wild (personally im fine with it but i know that its a popular pet so i'd love if it was an option), reptiles don't exist (yet) and rodents are exclusive to the slap-in-the-face-of-this-community pack... 🐁🐇🐢🦎🐍🐦🐜 faeries or other fae kin - i feel like they've hinted at it for quite a while and we've seen it show up in quizzes too?? 🧚‍♀️ so i'm hopeful for this one and hope they are just trying to make sure they properly deliver on it bc there's a lot of fantasy enthusiasts and they deserve it & woodland creatures - personally would love it if the fae pack came with woodsy world and the addition of woodland creatures at least the spiritual kind (like unicorns or a white doe which they possibly alluded to with puzzles - it made me real giddy) bonus points if it has some outdoor retreat compatibility

owning more lots - after winning the lottery or keeping up with a family for generations, sims can accumulate quite a lot of money, there's not a lot of expenses in the life of a sim tbh, travelling only costs one loading screen, gardeing makes you rich and thats ok ig but being able to own a holiday house would be welcomed, not just a business 🏘️ nectar making - when tartosa came but no nectar making i was a bit let down, imagine making or acquiring a special batch for your wedding?? it would've been lovely and appropriate for a wedding pack but ... yeah anyway it comes with the horse pack for some reason so at least it's coming, and only 3 years after juice fizzing 🥂 bands and more instruments - another thing they've hinted at in polls and i kinda wished it to come with HSY yet was not surprised it didn't; that being said we need drums and other instruments like bass and/or contrabass, just more than what we have if we're to have bands plz skating and/or surfing - these two are very different and honestly idk how the latter one would work, i just think they are popular sports we could have; at least skate boards should be easy enough to implement and a cute way for sims to drift around their closed off worlds so i have more hope for that one 🏄

hotels - even if they've been around the franchise and ts4 seems to draw all it's ideas from previous iterations i'm not confident they haven't just been replaced by rental properties but it's not the same, i'd like to be able to meet other guests vacationing on the property without having to engineer everything about it, ordering meals at hotel services and running/owning a hotel also; retirement homes - ELDER SIM LOVE IN GENERAL (canes, health issues, idk im not that old yet ..hum wills & testiments, special interactions) i feel growing together really fucked up on that one but i was not surprised bc it's ts4 and we rely on crumbs mods here and thats why some players stop buying dlc 👵☕👴 the townie refreshes - just pay some fans to do it at this point bc it's taking so long; most of them don't need to be redesigned anyway, just add hot and cold weather outfits, preferences and maybe a sneaky extra trait or lifestyle they could have developed and voilá, finish that chapter disabilities - i don't want it in the form of traits and thing it's rotten to make people to pay for it BUT i'd love to see some disability representation in this game, physical, cognitive and what not. i understand at this point it might be hard to introduce but i think it be really important to have this in the sims and ts4 is about time funerals & cemeteries - death is a part of life, this is a life sim... thats it basically, i want it, i miss it in comparison to previous games, i fake it with parks and inviting guests over, but we shouldn't have to tho seems pretty basic stuff

more and better apartments - i would like it if we saw more conjoined builds, more apartment builds, both with few floors and plenty, the option to have sims living in different floors of the same building and even having business or community lots in builds that are divided into multiple lots - ambitious ik - bonus points if they update apartments in a way you can own one or more and rent them out - i don't want to play as a landlord, i swear - i just want my sims to be allowed do simbnb while they go for a weekend in the city (which ig u cant bc of the current system/coding idk) or bringing them to more existing worlds but bc of the obstacles to that i have 0 hopes well-crafted worldly words - i see a lot of americancentric choices being made when creating the worlds, it's unrealistic for a global player base and hum.. a life sim and whenever they drop interesting worlds they are always so frigging small you have to sacrifice making a lively town, with people and businesses, if you want you're sim to live in certain environments (or use multibuilds, which is fine ig but it bothers me a bit) and they fail to utilize the common spaces of the neighbourhoods in ways simmers would love to, to bring some life into these worlds; 🌍 the worldly part of it... i am yet to see african like climates and cultures represented, asia is so wide & full of diversity and we get one japan inspired world so far, south america if confined to a destination world if you don't have mods ig (maybe it's changed by now im not sure) and europe while being represented in 3 packs so far - and one of them being the best in terms of lots per world we've had so far - 2 of them have few lots and its all very niche, so in a way i don't need to be able to point to the actual cities that inspired those worlds, it's not my priority just something that crowded and lively that draws from wider range of cultures and that mre people could recognize as close to their experience would be nice 🌏 also more islands maybe im a sulani simp new jobs & careers - i love GTW, it was the first pack i got and sure it deserved a refresh by now and i would welcome it, especially if it meant more careers, i really liked that gameplay feature; that being said i feel like we deserve more job options OR branches. y no dentist ??? i cant think of ideas right now but while playing the game and setting up townies or sims i feel limited a lot trans content fixes - yea i avoid using the in-game system for trans rep (i headcanon a lot and cheat stuff basically) bc its just not the best in general (clothes fit weird, there's no changes in the frame through time as there would be with hormonal treatments - which there arent in the game so makes sense), not in comparison bc i dont know other games to compare it to just real life ig but im not even that informed tbh; i am happy they didnt create a life sim where trans people are erased and don't want them to be discouraged to stop investing in this at all so i try not to mention it but fix the binder at least & here's a tumblr post that helps me a bit something that surprises me - /pos !! because... they don't... a lot of what we see seems to me like repeating the content ideas from older games but spreading it out to make as much dlc as possible; i had a lot of more wow reveal moments with ts2 & ts3 i feel like but cant truly be sure bc brain is mush

Fairy Tail Reread 2023 part 2

It's been hard to sit down and read all of a sudden. Whew. It's quite annoying to want to do this but not having the chance. Sheesh.

Anyways~

Welp, I really am forgetful.

I mean, I like the Galuna Island Arc because it's the first time where we learn about Gray's past. What can I say, Gray's type is right up my alley, trauma included lol.

Moving on to the actual story in this book...

So, Natsu and Lucy are going on their first mission ever. Woot! Natsu behaves like Natsu and gotta love the twisted sense of humour as we're seeing that old saying "to those who love ugly, it looks pretty" - I couldn't think of an English saying that expresses that so, there, literal translation. There's something in the servants that makes me think of Oda's writing (or, drawing?) - the type of gag at least.

Anyway, look, it's a library!! And Natsu gets where he is!!! Wow. Such a difference... I wonder what happened... to make Natsu behave like Natsu here and then later he's a toddler. Seriously, Igneel would cry over how Natsu's being written in 100YQ - good thing he stayed in the canon story and didn't go to the sequel. Or so I hope, I have no clue if he appears once again.

Okay, Natsu finds the book, Daybreak! MC sure is lucky... xD

And then we have the opening for a fight scene. Very tense, very serious, very... Lucy? The way she's entranced in the book cracks me up. And she leaves Natsu HANGING to go read further in a calm corner! I love how shameless she is. But at the same time, seriously? Are you for real, girl???

Good thing that Natsu doesn't seem to mind. He's there to kick ass and that's what he will do. Even though two against one is quite unfair. Natsu was assessing his opponents, also letting them get close enough to hit him, to then give the final punch. No surprises he won.

One thing I quite enjoyed about the worldbuilding in the manga was the trinkets and whatnot, sometimes things that would be so damn useful irl. I wish I had those glasses Lucy wears - I would be finishing a few more books instead of just spending my time reading fanfic. Haha... It also does inspire me to add little artifacts and such while writing - I like to add to the lore lol.

Anyway, we're back to Lucy and the bad guy has caught her. He's such a disgusting dude. Very skeevy, makes my skin crawl and Lucy's too, tbh. Though, well, everyone has their taste at what they like - even lecherous and disgusting people like Count Ebar. YKINMK and all that.

The problem with being a celestial mage though is that if Lucy doesn't have her keys, she's toast. So far, Happy has been coming to her rescue quite a bit. And, is it me or in that mansion, Lucy is the only person with any actual reading comprehension? xD

The actual story of Daybreak is sad. I mean, how it came to be. And then Lucy fights!

How the fuck did Natsu survive the travel with Virgo - we will never know... only shows how super-human he kind of is... ('nuff said for now...)

But the battle was won, the Count was punished (and lost his remaining hair) as well as the book.

Good on Lucy, to give the punchline - you're just a secondary character - she's quite proud of completing her first mission, she's an actual member of Fairy Tail.

Then, we finally get the actual story of the book. Seriously, so much lack of communication and empathy. I mean, as a child who was kind of abandoned by his father, then seeing him chop off his hand, no discernible reason, and after writing such a pitiful book - a shameful book, even! - Kaby really wasn't very forgiving of his father. Going to the extent of really ignoring the words his bedridden father was telling him.

Lucy did great with unlocking the hidden words. Daybreak became Dear Kaby and I like the magic here. All the potential, the wonder and whimsy that is shown to us. How in the end, love does end up speaking louder. I'm a sap so yeah, this is touching.

Natsu waving off the fee - and seeing Lucy basically seeing the jewels gaining wings and flying away from her grasp, that made me laugh a bit.

And here we learn yet another important thing about Lucy. Her goal is to write a novel too, she wants to be a writer. In a way, I totally relate with the cringe of someone irl seeing what I've written.

Hang in there, Lucy! 😂

Next chapter: we're introduced to Erza!

So the chapter begins with Lucy adjusting to life at the guild. All the missions one can choose from are on the mission board and we also get to see a bit more of the background characters.

Mirajane tells Lucy that the Master is away for an important meeting and, just like that, we're given information of what's coming towards us. More of the magical artifacts (this magical pen is just neat!) and that's a small touch I really like. It helped quite a bit with settling the world we're in. Anyway, exposition about how the world is organized - with the guilds and whatnot - and Natsu gives Lucy a fucking scare!

His face cracks me up every time. He's such an asshole. 😂

He wants to team up with Lucy but Gray and Loke scoff at how badly served she would be. And it's back to reinforcing Gray and Natsu's rivalry and Gray's penchant for losing his clothes.

Natsu and Gray fight. Their rivalry was such an important element at the beginning, as well as a comic relief moment. Loke tries to flirt with Lucy but upon realizing she's a celestial mage, he's running away as if the hounds of hell were at his heels. This bit of foreshadowing is well-played, I find. It had happened already but twice is a pattern and it makes one wonder "wtf is wrong with him?" but then he comes back with urgent news.

Erza is back!

The faces of horror will never cease to make me laugh.

Next thing we know, the air in the guild has changed. And we get to meet another very important character.

Erza Scarlett.

Girl, you're insane! 😆 Such a badass.

Most of the members of the guild barely dare to breathe with her there. She definitely imposes respect.

The boys here make me laugh. It is quite a common occurrence in the beginning but throughout the story, their relationship changes and they do become friends. In the meantime, it's hilarious to me seeing how they change completely the moment Erza is mentioned.

Lucy (and us readers) is shocked! Natsu who, so far, has been both assured and goofy - he acts in this very out-of-character way now. And Mira isn't that good at drawing. 😂

Back to business. Erza has something to propose, she needs Gray and Natsu's help. A huge shocker because Erza is pretty much at the top of the guild, powers-wise, so why would she need them?

Mirajane's mumblings surprise Lucy but, well, she might be new but she trusts her elder and if Mira says that could be the strongest team at the guild, then it most certainly might be!

Gray's self-awareness...

(Also, it might be just me but he looks cute here...)

And Natsu is goofy.

At him being topless I just wondered if Gray wasn't being a bad influence already. Also, I realize I didn't remember that scar he has on his neck. Then again, when I visualize Natsu he's wearing the scarf...

Lucy looks cute in Natsu's clothes. Her "I'm so done with you" expression makes me smile a lot. Happy's such a troll.

And for the end of the chapter, we have a small yet ominous introduction to what certainly is the bad guys.

So yeah, here we go for the Lullaby Arc! I feel like I should be listening to the OST, because the music really helps with the whole ambiance.

Gotta love how full of themselves both Natsu and Gray are. Of course that the whole rivalry is at play here but Mira sure set Lucy up. However, she was so right in toying with them. Just saying "Erza" and the boys were all buddy-buddy. Very well-done!

Erza sure is an exaggerated person. All that luggage. Sure, she can carry it all but, goodness. There's so. much. stuff!! Mte, Lucy, mte.

Then a small touch at "serious business" with setting up a match, which Natsu is sure to win. Of course...

And then the dichotomy: Natsu all fired up vs Natsu all passed out.

It's a funny gag.

Also Erza is tough and she likes to spread some tough love too. Poor Natsu, no wonder he got K.O. - how does he have the gall to challenge her and say he's going to defeat her when this also happens? Well, he's in a moving train but still.

The trepidation in Lucy's voice while addressing Erza... totally understandable to happen at this point but fun to see how their relationship evolves.

Then we have Gray demonstrate his powers and Lucy has that lightbulb moment as to why they are so at odds. Seriously, that's the foundation of things for me and I'm fine with it, haha.

Now with a passed-out Natsu, Erza gets down to business. She relays what she heard - and it's bad news. A dark guild is never good news, this is what we're learning. More so when they can get their hands on dark spells and use them.

The conversation is so serious that everyone forgets Natsu - even Happy! And the train is moving again so he's kind of defenseless. And we meet the next character.

Ahh, Erza is so tough that punishment is hitting. Why did she ask Lucy for that? I can't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation because on the one hand, there is serious and important stuff happening but at the same time, all the Fairy Tail mages are super weird. Even Erza who looks so serious and straight-laced is so silly!

But back to the serious matters, Kageyama is with a big conversation about legal guilds and illegal ones and the indoctrination seems to have been successful to him. And as Natsu is in such a low shape, he has the chance to kick him and have high airs. But Natsu does fight back, when the train stops. And we get a glimpse at the flute though we do not know its importance at first.

Natsu is crazy. He jumped out of the train because it's better to face death than to stay in that shitty contraption for another second. Lucky for him, his friends are there. And what's better to cushion a fall than your rival/friend's forehead? The bonk noise their heads made was enough to incapacitate a normal human. Fortunately the insanity coursing through both Natsu and Gray's bodies saves them from that fate.

Erza was quite unreasonable though. Natsu was totally out of it and they, idk, left the train while having the conversation - how was Natsu supposed to know he had to apprehend Kageyama? As far as Natsu knew, the dude was just an asshole from a dark guild and while dark mages should be stopped or whatever, he wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on if he started apprehending all the assholes that crossed his path, right? (Lucy noticed it but, rightfully, didn't dare say a thing)

Lucy's bookish knowledge allows her to connect the dots. And that makes our friends have a new goal.

The bad guys are making their move and we now have a better realization of the stakes. It's a race against time!

I find that this Erza from the beginning was so awkward and funny. Love how tough she is in her own way of being. I ask you a question and you don't answer? Forehead knock is the answer! xD

Now Lucy understands the respect (yes, we'll call it that) everyone has for Erza even further. So scary. xD

And before nothing, they're facing the bad guys. And learn their actual plan to spread the sound of the Lullaby.

Many fights are about to begin and, as Natsu said, at least now he's in firm land and the terrain is a bit more leveled.

Yet, Eligoal seems to have something more up his sleeve. It doesn't look like it's going to be easy...

I was going to ramble about the whole Lullaby arc but this book's ramble has taken me two weeks too long to write (RL is a mess rn) and so I'm doing this book by book, apparently? Or, maybe not. I'm just rambling about silliness so yeah.

It's quite noticeable how the characters were still at the early stages, their quirks and whatnot still being defined, the art was kind of charming and the silliness and moments where you just go "wtf?" abounded a bit. It's nice. I'm quite fond of this beginning.

@watcher-ofthe-sky hope your reread is going better than mine. Or at least faster.

Hopefully, will have time to go through the next book sooner. But I can say that rereading this is making me smile and in a way find my love for the characters back again. Super needed that. And a good revision of the characters, as I need to have them present for the wack-ass AUs I'm placing them in. 😅

Today i got to learn about Eastern Parson Spiders.

mostly because i just (hopefully) killed one that was on the wall right beside my bed.

i will not be sharing pictures though i did take two very good (if i do say so myself) pictures for identification purposes before i smooshed it with the knowledge it would probably fall behind the bed. big fucker, so probably a Lady Spider. They're a hunting spider - like wolf spiders - and they're apparently really fast and have learned to both zig and zag.

they're called Parson Spiders because their butts have a white spot that looks like the cravat a parson would wear. It's eastern because it's on the eastern side of the rocky mountains (i am not nearly brave enough or educated enough to check the genitals of the spider to determine for sure either the sex or the difference between eastern or western. we're lucky i got a picture of it first tbh).

it was in fact the butt spot that made me feel like i should probably look it up before I killed it, in case it was super fast and also deadly (it wasn't either - i mean it was quick but it didn't know i was coming so it didn't run, but it was moving really steadily across the wall and coming towards me).

Now. I would very much love to be the kind of person who does not smash a bug in the house. I would like to be a relocator, scoop and deposit outside sort of type. I have hopefully made it very clear already that I am currently incapable of doing that. I can have a spider on the wall, I can tolerate it walking around. If I gotta be within 2 feet of that fucker, he's gotta die.

I'm working on getting better when I'm outdoors, but inside is My Turf, bitches, leave me be.

in my english class, we had an assignment to make a comic displaying parts of the hero's journey within a story that we're familiar with. and you already know what story my autistic ass decided to go with. here's how it turned out !

if i ever get a chance to foreshadow q's change to becoming more like quackity, you know i'll immediately jump on that shit. and i did in this panel. here, the sun shines a little more in his left eye, and you can even see a sunbeam cutting through it. idc if that doesn't make sense in the situation, i feel like it solidifies the parallel between him and quackity, and that's all i really wanted for this part tbh.

the intention with this panel was to make q seem as small, alone, and exposed as possible, so as to draw (haha) on the essence of what this walk through the desert is a metaphor for.

"what symbolism, tumblr user ifievertoldyou?" i'm glad you asked, imaginary person.

for one, i really wanted las nevadas' lights to reflect in just his left eye, to nod to that eye becoming his blessed eye later on.

for another, i kinda wanted him to only see out of one eye, to foreshadow him meeting, and eventually becoming more like, quackity.

(also i gave the little box of the arial view of him running a purple tint to represent how the sky gods are watching him go through all of this.)

i made the las nevadas sign look a lot like the las vegas sign, but i also tried incorporating things from the las nevadas flag onto it, like the little star with the ace of spades, and i also leaned more into the flag's color pallette (though it's still pretty close color-wise to the las vegas sign)

i also had the sign popping outside of the box because of how good las nevadas is at grabbing your attention, and to demonstrate how she's so much larger than life.

i kept in mind here that q's shoes kinda look like half boots, and i also drew upon the reference of his meet-up pics with phil.

also, the shoes have just a hint of that wine red that's all over the pariah district and has come to represent quackity. ;]

and obviously, him stepping onto the not-asphalt was symbolic of him crossing the threshold, so there's that.

i originally intended for this comic to be longer (and who knows? maybe one day i will continue it), but this frame was intended to also be in the flashback when q has to figure out what quackity's lucky card is. that's why there's a whole frame with just the double doors (and also to cause anticipation, and transition into him meeting quackity, but yeah-)

panel 8

quackity! his little box is super red, in contrast to q's purple box in panel 4, because that's quackity's magic (and favorite) color, so it represents him.

his desk has a las nevadas star on it too, simply because i couldn't think of anything else to put on there lmao, but also, when looking at the LN flag, i can't help but think that the star represents quackity, since it's his magic color and it's all sharp around the edges like how he tends to be, and the ace of spades that is inside of it is more representative of q, since he has the blessed eye, and it's the same as his magic color and whatnot.

misc things:

the color of the gutters get progressively more red than purple as the comic goes on, to symbolize las nevadas and quackity coming into q's life. though the purple is still there, because so are the sky gods ;]

the same goes with the punctuation marks. it starts out purple (with a red outline to foreshadow his future and stuff), but then that eventually inverts itself when he sees the lights of las nevadas. (and quackity's question mark is much more red than q's, although the purple outline is still there, just less noticeable.)

the first person narrative boxes are red, while the captions are purple. again, this stands for the divide between q and the sky gods, since the sky gods are in control of the story, while q is (for now) in control of his own thoughts. wine red is more of quackity's own color, while purple is also the color of the sky gods. so when it's just q's thoughts, they're red, to distinguish him from the sky gods, and also to maybe hint at him becoming more like quackity in the future.

also, i didn't get to do any frames showing his forearms besides the first panel, but just know that q rolled up his sleeves as soon as he realized he was in a desert, as he wanted to avoid getting more hot than he had to. i thought it was important to draw him in a long sleeve shirt though since his bruises were most likely covered up when he met soot.

i know the lights look kinda purple in panel 8, but i swear they're pink, the blue sky just makes them seem more purple. quackity isn't being blasphemous, i promise.

every single red thing in this comic was drawn using the same colored pencil, to show how important quackity is in las nevadas, as well as q's story.

life updates - june 06, 2022

board exam review:

the partial results are in and tbh the results i got arent as bad as i was expecting; wala pang grades yung drawings namin so nothings really final yet but either way, atleast now i know what to focus on

im really proud of myself!

i just need to read even more and not really memorize every single thing but to just understand and look at our modules as like books that i would normally read on my free time; i just need to understand and comprehend everything

friends:

at some point i still do feel really pressured whenever my friends and i would study together, but at the same time it really does help whenever we're all together kasi regardless if one of us knows more compared to the others or the other way around, we're all still gonna have to deal with the same challenge ahead of us so its always better to team up than to give into the feeling of being pressured

im beyond lucky for my friends, both my college and online bestfriends; i wouldnt know what to do without them at times

my online bestfriends are really busy and so am i and the fact na hindi nagtutugma yung schedules namin makes it even harder to actually set a date to catch up but i know in my heart na its all good; i feel their support through and through

family:

i love my family - regardless of how annoying they can get, i really do love them

its just me and my brother and our dogs right now at home so i ordered pizza for us for lunch (mainly because i was craving for it)

we're off to batangas this weekend kasi death anniversary ng lola ng mom ko and complete yung magkakapatid for the first time in a really long time so im just really excited to see everyone especially my cousin from australia kasi parang little sister ko na din siya

healthwise - we went to the doctor again kasi nga bigla akong inatake ng allergies ko ulit after a short span of time; usually kasi yung agwat ng attacks ko is months but this attack came after just 1-2 weeks of my last allergy attack

my polips is still there and the doctor really had to steer away from my polips nung pinasok niya yung camera niya in my nostril kadiri yuck

i had to get a ct scan done so makikita namin results nun tomorrow and we'll go straight to the doctors clinic right after getting the film and findings

my new crystals are here and im really happy; sobrang ganda nung raw moss agate na binigay sakin kasi may pocket of druzy in the corner and its amazing, tapos yung labradorite heart na nakuha ko, sobrang daming flash and it looks like a butterfly in the light

my room is all clean and organized and im just gonna play sims 4 while waiting for our food

why the hive fckin suck at its job: a rant

spoilers for tgwdlm ahead!

first of all, it's important to consider what exactly the hive's job is. my answer is... who the fuck knows. literally. what is the hive's aim. what do you want Paul? more like, what do you want hive? let's find out!

it kinda evolves, as the play progresses. the intial aim of the hive, and one that does actually remain consistent is the constant burning need to grow and devour and gain more and more (insert capitalism metaphor here).

however, this is distorted by the people it possess who influence that aim, as we'll see later.

also the fact it crashes into a theatre displaying Mamma Mia gives the hive the motive it need to fit the world around it to the structure of the musical. having no originality of its own, the hive instead just picks up what is given to it. kinda like an evil baby.

it wants uniformity, that is indeed its ultimate goal and desire, no duh. it thinks it can achieve that through musical theatre, shame that the hive is dead wrong. cause the hive fucking sucks at its own job / aim / ultimate purpose / one concrete goal that motivates all its actions.

can't maintain control over its subjects

okay, so, the hive wants uniformity. it wants everyone to be dancing to the beat of its own tune. right? yeah. shame it literally can't keep its own possessed subjects in line at all. at the risk of sounding like the 10th doctor waxing lyrical abt humanity for the 50th time, humans are really difficult to control cause we're not really motivated by an altruistic allegiance to one primary good. we've got icky emotions that often move us to do stupid unpredictable stuff way more. it makes me wonder if the reason the hive wanted to use musical theatre to try and persuade ppl was cause it seems to think that is how theyll get emotive humans; through emotive songs. anyways. let's look at some examples shall weeeee?

Mr Davidson:

so, Mr Davidson. funnily enough, he's the guy whose in part acting as the hive trying to figure out what it wants through his interactions w/ Paul. every person it possess gives it just a bit more humanity and curiosity abt the world it is currently taking over. at least I think so. hence why as the musical develops u get character's like possessed!Alice wondering 'why does it hurt to love?' - the change in music and mood to something much more introspective really suggests to me that the hive is beginning to question the thoughts and emotions of its human hosts.

Mr Davidson is a family man through and through, he loves his wife Carol. she's his muse, his source of light. his feelings for her are not concrete or easy to explain and solve - hence why his sudden ahem demand of her is so hilarious and also jarring. it completely clashes with the 'I want song' which is simple, and often pushes forward a wider cause. not so with Mr Davidson, he just really loves his wife man. enough to break a frickin alien possession.

tbh I think its hilarious that (at least to me) the hive has to force him to forget and continue with the song, like, he straight up is just talking to his wife in that phone call, talking, not singing. so, no possession until he reverts back into song. ergo, the hive cannot maintain the uniformity it wants. even from the get go when theoretically its control should be stronger cause it has less ppl to co-ordinate. bad. at. its. job.

Paul:

this one hurts folks. yes, I know it's generally agreed, though somewhat debated that the state of Paul by the end of the tgwdlm is not purely possessed. I agree. once again, the hive is unable to truly enforce uniformity.

at this point, the motives of Paul and the hive are kinda just mixed, neither fully human nor fully alien. hence the constant shifts between pleeing for her to get away, to hide, to stay safe: 'what if the only choice is you have to sing to survive' and just full on old style hive nastiness 'let me puke in your mouth and just open your food bin girl' (so romantic 🥰 /j).

the hive has gone away from its original aim, and become something... different. no longer stuck to just one type of genre or style of song, it's really clever to show the developing complexity of the hive by showing how it is now juggling lots of different motifs with references to all the old songs from before recontextualised in a new way - its learning. evil baby... no longer uniform.

general miscommunication:

there are several instances of the hive not fully having uniform control over its subjects. for instance, right after not your seed with the three teens having to like... calibrate. they aren't just completely connected then?? also, this is a very small thing, but uhhhh at the end of inevitable when Paul is about to say the apotheosis is upon... the chorus interrupts him with USSSSSSS. interruptions??? not very in sync of u hive.

I think this inability to exert uniformity is also shown in the contrast between genre of musical theatre. my alien abomination cannot decide whether it wants to be the more modern edgy rock musical (join us (and die), not your seed ) or super happy go lucky old style musical theatre (lah dee dah dah day, and inevitable). it tries to do both, even while trying to encourage union, and sticking to one thing. hypocrite!!!!!

2. aims are guided by the people it possess

so, I mentioned this a bit already, but the hive isn't only mutating the humans, the humans are mutating the hive right back. this is more an interesting observation than any actual analysis but let's goooo.

greenpeace girl:

I think it's very likely that greenpeace girl is one of the first to be possessed. This is probably easily debunkable but whatever this analysis is flying by the seat or its pants anywayyyyy. why? cause where else would it pick up that whole 'this planet needs fixing' thing? it's interesting too, cause it morphs from expressing the desire to join hands and sing together, unity and peace with no actual action behind it. this then goes right to the other end, with the hive going 'fine I'll do it myself' and trying to save things by enforcing a dictatorship on the world. it develops and changes, and strays from its original means of accomplishing its aims! speaking oooooof...

3. inconsistent in means of accomplishing aims

okay, ur an evil hive mind. u think musicals are the way to win over these silly humans cause they're all weak and emotive and seem to respond to them. but, wait! schwoopsie! you haven't realised that for emotional depth and growth to mean anything, you need there to be established development and well... growth. otherwise the sentiments are as vague as the ones expressed in What Do You Want, Paul?

this show has genuine emotional moments, just not really during the musical numbers WITH EXCEPTIONS. any strife is smoothed over quickly, and so the development and change that would have to go into such growth is just gone. (see, You Tied Up My Heart) all so it can achieve its own desire to grow and grow and grow, maybe a metaphor for art being killed under late stage capitalism??

what actually matters is the impact the songs have afterwards, in causing a death - because we have a bond and care abt these characters. those short scenes between Paul and Emma are actually way more resonant than any song. except... inevitable, and also not your seed a bit. at this point the hive has learnt a thing or two, and can actually twist human emotion a little. but for it to do that, it has to reject the uniformity it prizes, and be adaptable. point towards being more human than it first thought? methinks so. and yet it's just not enough...

it's also why let it out, to me, feels really ingenuine. Paul has expressed himself in much better ways already. what they're doing is clearly paining him, and hurting the guy. he's terrified bless.

you can't force someone into being emotional vulnerable, man.

it's why all the deaths for the characters who are forced to express themselves are really violent, involving them being ripped open - literally forcing them to expose themselves from the 'inside out' as Alice reflects in Not Your Seed. you can't force genuine emotional connection, it has to be fostered, shown in the much more affecting relationship of Paul and Emma. the only reason the hive actually has power over our characters is because of these genuine emotional connections, which it tries and often fails to take advantage of, resulting in just resorting to brute violence. messy hive, very messy.

at the core, the musical's a kinda attack on that toxic positivity mindst: trying to force people to reach the sort of easy solutions by sharing feelings in a way that feels pretty invasive and deciding you are instantly fixed. the problems these characters face are jarringly not really what you'd expect a character in a musical to face, cheating, a lot of it, mid-life crisis. problems that are bland, or wayyyy too real. this is purposefully done, to reveal just how silly the hive's aim to use musical theatre to solve everyone's problem is. life is more complex than that smh.

4. a human can write a much more expressive, and genuine song than they ever could lol

u know which song I'm talking abt. what more is there to say. so much for making persuasive songs to tempt people over.

5. make me sad cause they took some perfectly nice ppl and funked them up 😭

this was a stupid point lol. basically I'm just bitter that this hive took a bunch of perfectly okay ppl and gave them hive brain. screw u hive. I swear I'm gonna watch Black Friday soon, cause I'm sure it's gonna completely destroy every thought I've had so far, but whateve,,, just take this as a look at tgwdlm like it's a stand-alone piece.

these guys are supposed to all be 'individuals' on one level, but also 'appendages of a much larger organism'. there's a little too much individualism and fracturing to be cohesive enough to do that I feel. the hive to me is not an infallible, unstoppable force, in fact, every human it takes over only brings it closer to understanding us. so that's maybe a slight positive note??? idk ?! I just have lots of thoughts and feelings abt this musical even if this doesn't make sense I'm proud i wrote it down hehe.
