i love looking up uchi-con in the artist alley discord servers im in bc ppl always have nice things to say about it i feel like such a proud mom. thats my baby <3
#.txt#im probably not gonna be able to go next year cuz im gonna be in school again (hopefully. im already 3 rejections in tho)#and i actually make a lot at uchi-con even tho its a local 1 day event. esp bc there are no table expenses. when i lived in chicago i didnt#have ANY expenses at all bc it was literally down the street lol. like i made more at uchi-con in 1 day than all weekend at some other cons#even if i didnt make a lot id still want to go tho bc i just love the vibes plus i need to support the next generation lol#i dont really care if i lose money id go if im able#dont see how i can with grad school but well see#anyway bringing this up bc me and the homie and my mom all failed to get cheaper tables at flamecon. FUCK YOU FCFS. ALL MY HOMIES HATE FCFS#ANYWAY. so were stuck with the $1000 table T_T#UNLESS we get chosen from the waitlist for a full table before the deadline to refund the premium#i mean i did well at flamecon last year and i didnt even have a lot of stuff. so im not toooooo pressed. im just nervous bc the table was#sooooo expensive#if we split it 4 ways its $267 each but i feel like splitting it 4 ways will be very cramped#like i think the most reasonable is splitting it 3 ways and i can sell the last ticket to a non-artist friend just so they can attend#but even then it will be like. $336 pp. i mean i'll take that but im not sure my partner would bc shes smaller than me.#BUT! we're both on the waitlist for full and half tables so if one of us gets a full thats great#if one of us gets a half she can take it if shes worried about money and ill find others to share. we can request that our tables are near#eachother i think

I've watched pretty much all of Jenny Nicholson's videos (despite not being into most of the things she's into) for a variety of reasons, but one of the reasons I watch her content is because I think that she seems like a truly stand-up kind of person. Of course, given that she is a person creating content for YouTube, we're only allowed to see the version of herself that she wants us to see. I'm under no illusions about that. But the version of herself that she presents to us, the viewers, seems to be a person who is not only genuinely passionate about the things she discusses (and honest about why she'll hold back on discussing certain topics when fans of those topics can be awful about it), but also who considers the experiences of (for lack of a better phrase) the average person when it comes to the theme parks and other experiences that she reviews.
Three specific instances come to mind: one from the Evermore video, and then two from her most recent Star Wars hotel video. (Side note: she was so, so right that Disney marketing is stupid as hell for not letting influencers et cetera use the common names for things. The average person doesn't know what "Galactic Starcruiser" is, but will understand "Star Wars hotel." Get it together, Disney.)
In the Evermore video, Jenny talks about how she emailed Evermore Park ahead of her visit to try to get more information prior to her visit. Things like whether there was a dress code, what she could expect when she arrived there, information that should have been readily available on the website but wasn't. She mentions that she could have mentioned that she's an influencer and that she probably would have gotten a response (because they never emailed her back), but that she deliberately chose not to.
"So I did attempt to email ahead of my visit, trying to ask basic questions about the park and inquire about renting it out. When I did that, I was intentionally vague; I didn't link my channel, and I didn't use my primary email. And I sort of suspect that if I had done the whole influencer song and dance -- said my channel name, my subscriber count -- I might've had better access to the park, and perhaps even a better experience. But that wasn't the point. I didn't want to call ahead. I'm the mystery diner! I'm the undercover boss! If you can't deliver an equivalently good experience for all guests, that's on you and your business." [x]
Then, in the Star Wars hotel video, there were two instances in which Jenny had to reach out to Disney customer support for assistance, and received absolutely nothing in return. The first was when she paid for a photo taking service, but had absolutely no photos taken of her. When she reached out to Disney customer support for a refund, they refused to give her said deserved refund. The second instance was when she had purchased a large droid figure from the hotel, and had it shipped to her house via the Disney shipping service. The Disney shipping service inputted her address incorrectly (in fact I think she says they put in a completely different address altogether), so her droid was lost. Once again she reached out to Disney customer support to find out what she could do about this expensive item she had purchased, only to be told that they couldn't do anything to help her.
In both cases, Jenny took to twitter to post about how Disney was refusing to a.) issue her a refund for a service she paid for but never received, and b.) help her receive an item she'd paid for but never received. Both times, Disney reached out immediately, issued her the refund, and overnighted her lost item. Jenny correctly identifies that they only did this because she's an influencer with a large twitter following, and has this to say in the video:
"They didn't even ask for my phone number. Like someone at Disney just did the legwork to go into the database, look up my booking info, find my phone number and then call me within a day of the tweet going out. And the person who called me was really nice, and I'm thankful he cared to resolve it. BUT, I just always feel very cynical when I try to resolve issues through the appropriate channels available to all customers and nobody will help me until they find out I'm an 'influencer.' I spoke with several other guests who got [the photo taking service] and had the exact same problems as me, and they never got refunds." [x]
And
"But then after I tweeted about it on my twitter account with a lot of followers, Disney suddenly resolved it and they sent me a replacement. They actually overnighted it to me. And along with it they sent a lot of miscellaneous goodies which I really appreciated. So here again, I feel if this had happened to anyone without a lot of twitter followers, they would have had a significantly more frustrating experience." [x]
I feel that this post will probably read as giving Jenny kudos for doing the bare minimum. And I think that on some level, that's true. But it's true because nowadays, many influencers won't even do the bare minimum. They would have Disney immediately issue them a refund, or overnight the droid to them with the additional goodies, and then make posts gushing about how great Disney's customer service is, despite knowing full well that the (again for lack of a better term) average person who doesn't have a huge internet following would never receive that kind of support from Disney. Similarly with Evermore, most influencers would call ahead and flex their follower count to try to get a bespoke experience to then show on their channels. They wouldn't want the same experience everyone else gets. That won't generate good content, in their eyes, and besides, they're better than that. Don't you know who they are?
But Jenny, despite her follower counts, keeps it real. Yes, she appreciates that Disney did give her the deserved refund and did send her the droid + gifts. But she also points out, both times, that if she'd been a person without a large twitter following, they would not have done that, and people in the exact same position she was with the photo service didn't get their deserved refunds. With Evermore, she didn't call ahead because she DOES want the same experience everyone else gets. She wants to be able to give a genuine review. Whether that review is positive or negative is dependent on the business itself.
Again, this probably seems like giving Jenny kudos for the bare minimum of decency. And I agree that on some level it is. But I also think that, in today's day and age, we really don't get that with a lot of influencers, who are in it for the sponsorship money (and who get their egos way inflated), and so it's nice to have a reviewer / theme park influencer who is honest with her opinions, and who recognizes that yeah, Disney did give her special treatment, but that it shouldn't have been special treatment, that they should be helping all of their guests like this, through the normal channels that she tried using, and they are a shit company for not doing that.
I just really appreciate Jenny.

Yandere! Yakuza x Reader (IV)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy Holidays! Remember your plans to visit friends and family back in your home country? Scratch that. The Yakuza men have other ideas for you in this cozy Christmas special. And you finally get to meet their fearsome Boss, who has a request for you.
Content: female reader, fluff
[Part 3] | [Part 5] | [Yakuza Masterlist]
Tumblr media
You stare at your phone in disbelief, rereading each line and hoping you've misunderstood the kanji. Daitou and Kazuya are quietly frowning behind you, unsure how to help in such a situation. Their lack of response only confirms it.
The brief paragraph is written in bold, red font: Due to weather conditions, all flights are cancelled until further notice. Passengers have been refunded and will need to repurchase their tickets at first convenience.
One glimpse at the last-minute prices and you're certain of it: you won't be going home for Christmas. You slouch and sigh, somewhat at peace with the idea. What else can you do? You might as well get yourself a KFC bucket and stare at the holiday lights in the city center. You and the couples taking cheesy Christmas selfies, who will later wonder about the gloomy loner behind them philosophically crunching on spicy wings.
"Don't look so defeated, (Y/N). You can just spend that time with us instead. We're not such terrible company, are we?" Kazuya jokes, trying to cheer you up.
"We could even go on a trip around New Year."
Your eyes light up in anticipation, the sadness vanishing almost instantly.
"Can we go to one of those hot spring inns? I've always wanted to visit an onsen." You put your hands together pleadingly.
"Whoa! Take me out to dinner first if you're that eager to see me naked." The blonde man winks at you smugly.
"How would I see you naked? The baths are separated, aren't they?" You inquire.
"We can't go to the regular ones." Daitou pulls his collar slightly downwards, revealing a fragment of his traditional tattoos. True. A yakuza would never be allowed among the civilians. "We'd have to book a private bath, so there wouldn't be anyone else."
You blush at the prospect of being alone with the two men. Kazuya notices your nervousness and is about to continue his teasing, but Daitou speaks before him, unbothered and oblivious:
"Besides, you've already seen me naked. I can tell you Kazuya doesn't look much different. There's nothing to be shy about."
The blonde man can only gawk, taken aback, and you shove Daitou in a flustered panic, fumbling to find an excuse or a change of subject.
He didn't have to make your business public like that, or he could've at least announced it without you being present. Judging by the blonde's speechless reaction, you're guessing he hasn't been told about your sneaky office smooching that led to the occasional sleepover. If you think about it, there's nothing shameful about being intimate with your boyfriend, but...It's not something you're fully accustomed to yet.
As promised, after the coworker incident you were soon greeted with a job offer in the neighborhood. When you went to your old office to discuss the mandatory year contract, the managers nervously handed you an approval for resignation and refused to discuss any details. You were free to go, no penalty or obligation. They had a fearful demeanor and you hoped Daitou didn't dismember anyone involved. Regardless of his means, you were now at the liberty to pursue other careers.
On the other hand, you were rather anxious about your new workplace. You had flashing visions of drug cartels and gambling parlors, with thugs rattling their drinks at you and demanding proper service. Windows breaking and masked men rolling onto the floor, armed to the brim. Ginza hostesses scurrying behind you and asking for help against an angered client. The night before your first day, you restlessly shuffled in your bed, plagued by second thoughts. What could you possibly do for the yakuza? What ghoulish demands would they prepare for you?
Daitou was the one to accompany you in the morning. He showed you to your desk, and you could discern the blurred frames of people angrily discussing matters in the opposing meeting room, separated by a large window. You gulped.
"They're building a new apartment complex two streets down." Your boyfriend mentioned casually, helping you settle with your belongings.
"Huh?"
"Oh, sorry, I thought you were curious about their talk."
"I mean, I am, but...Is that it?" You gazed at him incredulously.
"What else? This is a real estate office. Upstairs is the stock investments."
"Oh...Oh...I thought..." You were a little embarrassed. The imaginary scenarios of bloody battles and crimes that kept you awake felt quite ridiculous now.
Daitou seemed to have picked up on your assumptions, because he chuckled and ruffled your hair, following with an explanation.
"Boss is very strict with our Ninkyo-Do. If you're caught with drugs or petty theft, you're excommunicated. We used to have a bunch of gambling casinos as main income, but nowadays there's too much pressure from the police, ya know? Half of our members aren't even officially registered with the Yakuza, so they can't be tracked. We mostly do stocks and real estate. That's where the cash is.
Heh. Kinda boring, ain't it? I'm afraid you showed up way after the golden times. Even I'm too young for it. If ya want, I can ask one of the retired seniors to tell you about it. He has a lot of great stories."
You held your tongue from bringing up his frequent killing sprees and just nodded, amused by the fact that his code of conduct didn't register human casualties as wrong. The Yakuza have strict rules of ethics that set them apart from regular mafia. Depending on the Oyabun, or Head of the Family, this chivalrous way of living is reinforced to all members or conveniently swept under the rug. Daitou's Boss seemed to fit in the former category.
Therefore your "office job" turned out to be an actual office job without the quotes. Although you were often reminded the people passing by weren't your regular salarymen. Many of them were entirely transparent with you, striking up conversations about their latest arrest, or complaining about the poor quality of their pinky finger prosthetic they'd ordered from the Philippines.
But this isn't the time to reminisce. The prolonged silence is unbearable and one could fry eggs on your hot, burning cheeks. Kazuya is the one to break the awkwardness.
"Oh, yeah...You coming to the Christmas thing this evening?"
"We'll be there." Daitou smiles innocently, unaware of the discomfort he just caused.
Kazuya raises his eyebrows in surprise and looks at you.
"Did you...?"
"Yup. It's all fine." The dark haired man nods reassuringly.
"Then I'll see you at dinner, little (Y/N). Don't catch a fever with all that steam blowing out of you." He laughs at your still baffled expression and places his large hand on your head, departing.
Daitou holds the door open for you and you hurry inside. As you both walk down the hallway of the luxurious restaurant, you can't help the nagging feeling that he's once again omitted some vital information.
"Can you tell me again who else is coming? Just Kazuya?"
"Oh no, it's a Family meeting. So Boss and the rest of the Seniors, too."
You gasp in horror, but before you can scold him, you find yourself behind the canvas screen divider, facing a table of older men in suits, holding their drinks and eyeing you suspiciously.
"Oi, who the fuck is this, Daitou?" one of them growls.
"I already told you before, (Y/N). My girlfriend."
"Huh? Did you seriously just bring a civvy to our meeting? I knew you got a loose screw, boy, but this tops it all."
Daitou frowns and steps in front of you, visibly annoyed.
"If ya got a problem with my woman being here, I can settle it for you, old man. When was the last time you fought someone?"
"'s that supposed to mean?"
"It means you've gotten too comfortable sitting up there and barking orders. Let me remind you why they leave the killings to me."
The thick tension in the air is quickly dispersed by a loud, relaxed laugh. At the end of the table, a heavily scarred man with grey hair is clapping his hands in delight, seemingly amused by the events unfolding. He glances at you and pats a cushioned seat to his right.
"There you are! Come join us, miss (Y/N). Ignore those rusty grumps, they ain't seen a woman outside a host club." He throws the instigator a brief glare. "Is that any way to talk to my guest, Oota?"
The man swallows dryly and mutters an apology. He goes back to his drink, preoccupied, and the rest follow suit.
You hesitantly kneel down to your designated place, sheepishly peeking at the mysterious figure. Could it be? As if reading your mind, Daitou places an encouraging hand on your waist and lowers his head to your ear, swiftly whispering "that's Boss" before going to greet the others at the table.
"I-it's a pleasure meeting you, Sir." You mumble nervously.
"No no, pleasure is all mine. I'm Eiji Ijichi, 8th Head of our Family."
His introduction is unexpectedly warm and his easygoing way of speaking reminds you a lot of Daitou. The faintest grin threatens to appear, but you cover your mouth. With enough imagination, this could be the equivalent of meeting your in-laws. This is Daitou's family, after all. A criminally scary one, but nonetheless you've been welcomed with open arms.
"Do you drink?" The older man asks you, raising his porcelain cup.
"Naturally." You exclaim and lift your own cup enthusiastically.
"Attagirl!"
As the night progresses, the men at the table are loosening up under the influence of expensive alcohol. Kazuya seems to be caught in a terribly involved conversation with Daitou and one of their Captains, gesturing dramatically and occasionally raising his tone. You notice your glass has once again been filled by the waitress and take another sip, satisfied with observing their fun from the sidelines. Boss has a similar approach, gazing nostalgically over the rowdy group of thugs.
He reaches for his pack of smokes and you scramble to pick up the lighter, politely bowing as you light up his cigarette. He smiles at your gesture.
"I see Daitou's trained you already."
He ponders for a moment, gently blowing a cloud of smoke upwards.
"You'll make a good wife."
"Excuse me?" You question, startled by his sudden remark.
"It's hard to tell, but I'm getting pretty old myself." He snickers at his self made compliment. "Soon it'll be time to pick my successor. I have no children, unless you count that rascal I picked from the streets." He says as he tilts his chin towards Daitou.
"I love him like my own kid, but I'm sure you noticed he's a little off. Everyone is terrified of him. You can't have a leader if everyone runs away from him, ya know? I was starting to get worried I'd work myself through retirement. Kazuya can only do so much!
Then he comes up to me grinning like an idiot. I thought, 'There it is. He finally lost it', but instead he asks me if I want to see a photo of his girlfriend. Girlfriend?! I was ready to witness some crusty body pillow, my hand was on the phone to call our Family doctor. He shows me a cute foreigner standing next to him. Now I'm pretty sure he's not smart enough to fake photos like that, so it must be the real deal. 'How the Devil did ya pull this one?' I asked him. Cause listen, I was rather handsome back in my day and I still wouldn't have been this lucky.
And would ya look at that, it's the miss that moved into our apartments! How's the living conditions, by the way? Everything going fine?"
You nod energetically.
"Good, good."
He crosses his arms and nods himself, satisfied. He turns to gaze at you intently, with a face you can't quite read.
"You gotta excuse a drunk old man for rambling so much. What I'm trying to say...well...
Take care of him when he becomes the 9th, will ya? If he has you, I'm sure he'll manage. But don't tell him I said that! You gotta keep them humble. See, that's a lesson for you too. If there's one person the Head of the Family bows to, that's his wife! But I doubt he'd let the power get to his head."
You both turn to Daitou. He just finished pouring more sake to his superior and notices your stare. He blushes slightly and waves, unsure why he's suddenly being observed.
"I think so, too." You respond, waving back.
How would that look on a CV? Ane-san of a Yakuza family.

Good Omens graphic novel update: May 2024
Happy 34th birthday to Good Omens - published in May 1990. We don't need any extra reasons to celebrate Aziraphale and Crowley, but we're always happy to find some.
Admin
Thank you to everyone who has completed the PledgeManager so far; as mentioned, this will be open through 2024 into early 2025 to complete. A few key queries that have arisen in the past month:
I ordered via Kickstarter, but when I go onto PledgeManager, it is setting me to Human Tier and/or asking me to pay again. Please check the email that you are using on PledgeManager. The email to access PledgeManager must be the same as the one you used on Kickstarter for the system to connect your account to the order; if your email is not showing a prior order, please try your other emails, or drop us a message from the account you pledged on (and are, presumably, reading this from!) and we can confirm the email address linked to your pledge.
I have been charged twice for shipping. What do I do? We have raised this with PledgeManager, and they say it is a known issue that can occur via Stripe, but it is easily fixed. Please contact [email protected] with information on your order, and note that your shipping has been charged twice, and their system can verify this and process the refund swiftly and easily.
I need to change my address. How do I do that? We have left the option to update your shipping address open on PledgeManager and will do so for as long as possible. Per PledgeManager, here is a step-by-step on how to change your address: Return to your survey (which you can also do by visiting my.pledgemanager.com and using the ‘Forgotten Password’ option if needed) and scroll down on the receipt page. There, you will see the below button. After clicking that, you will be taken to the first page of the survey and will just need to click through to the shipping page. On the shipping page, you can use the ‘Create New Address’ button to enter their updated address.

If you have any further issues or queries, visit the central FAQ page as your first port of call.
Good Omens items...
The desk at Good Omens HQ is slowly filling up with prototypes, the latest of which appears to be as popular as Aziraphale and Crowley, and for good reason. We are, of course, talking about the ducks. Here's an early version of the duck mug:
Tumblr media
We've got some early prototype designs of the trading cards too. Illustrator Steve Gregson has begun work on the base card deck illustrations, to be unveiled in future, and designs for some of the variants are fully underway. Here are some early samples of graphic novel variant cards from Colleen Doran, and Rachael Stott's Crowley:
Tumblr media
The base packs (Hellhound+) currently include 80 cards, and have caused quite heated games with those who have test-played it so far on their attempts to thwart (or indeed cause) the apocalypse. Hellhound+ backers will also get a booster pack alongside the main game. Rarities for sharing at random in these orders are shaping up nicely too. Hoping to share some of the base pack design imminently.
If you've been wondering what your other alternative cover choice is, alongside Rachael Stott's (Serpent+), then wonder no more: here is Frank Quitely's take on Aziraphale and Crowley, ready to shine on your shelves.

Update from Colleen
We often end with an update from Colleen, whether that's her art, or her shots from her studio. However, we thought it was about time we invite Colleen to update you herself, so we are handing the rest of this month's over to your ineffable artist for a glimpse inside the process of making Good Omens. Enjoy.
---
As you may imagine, I’m having a wonderful time working on the Good Omens graphic novel. The Dunmanifestin team asked me to pop in and give you a look at my process.
The task of adapting a beloved novel into graphic novel format is a complex, wonderful sort of pressure cooker. Even without the well-publicized complications I got smacked with over the last year, it promised to be an intense, time-consuming project.
The graphic novel is about the book and not the show. Getting Michael Sheen and David Tennant out of my head was quite a task. I’ve seen it dozens of times and I adore it, but I to had devote a lot of time to re-reading the novel and listening to the audiobook to clear my head of them.
The few times I allowed myself to watch the show again screwed me up a bit. So, I won’t watch it again until I am completely finished with every drawing. Maybe a view-a-thon will be my reward for finishing the book.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. There’s still a lot to do, so let me show you it.
Before we knew the Kickstarter fundraiser would do well, the graphic novel was to clock in at 164 pages. After the good news of the Kickstarter success, I got permission to take the story to 200 pages. That meant a major rewrite and redraw on some dozens of thumbnails and layouts.
And you guys are getting a much longer book.
Not complaining one bit. I was so happy to get more space to give breathing room to the ending.
Anyway, here's a look at my workspace.
Tumblr media
To the left is my laptop computer with the script. The laptop is connected to my graphics computer via ethernet, and all my reference is on the main system, from which I share files.
On my older projects, I dutifully printed out every bit of reference. I think this is the first project where I’ve done all reference and organizing on my MAC.
Tumblr media
As you can see, I draw comics the old-fashioned way – by hand – and there is my script on the computer.
But I do all the coloring on this project on the MAC. I know some people hate Photoshop, but even if I wanted to switch, I don’t have the time to dive into a new system.
That entire box with all the narrow drawers in it you see there contain Good Omens pages in varying degrees of completion. Finished pages are at the bottom with layouts, pencils, and partial inks toward the top. The middle drawer contains templates, French curves, and a ruler.
The box isn’t fancy art studio equipment. It’s just a Childcraft brand puzzle storage rack. I realized a long time ago the heavy wooden bookcases, puzzle racks, and construction paper storage made for children’s classrooms made great modular storage for professional art spaces. It’s solid as a rock, heavy so little children can’t tip it, and I can move it and rearrange my space however I like.
The final art is drawn on 11”X14” Strathmore 500 acid free Bristol.
I do all my prelims as tiny “thumbnail” sketches, some in ink, some in very loose pencil. I keep them organized in this Levenger notebook. The thumbnail paper is both Canson brand, and Blue Line Pro, and both are acid free. Blue Line Pro is good for ink, but Canson is better for pencil because it has more tooth. I usually use Canson.
Using the Levenger hole puncher, I perforate my pages and keep them organized in a Levenger Circa system. It’s pricey, but I love it. There are other brands far less expensive, however.
The ruler shows how tiny the thumbnails are.
Tumblr media
If the storytelling is clear at this small size, then it will be clear in the final.
I redo quite a bit as I go along, as you can see from the sequence below.
From thumbnail:
Tumblr media
To pencils:
Tumblr media
Since I did multiple rewrites, adding a large section at the end and popping in earlier scenes I originally had to skip, this meant redoing almost all the page numbers about 4 times.
Nearly went barmy.
I use the construction method of drawing, as you see. This is an old-school technique. Some people seem to assume that artists always use computers and tracing for their drawings, but most cartoonists of my generation work extemporaneously. There’s quite a bit of noodling around and searching in the sketches. Using too much reference often results in stiff, dead work.
In comics, it’s very important to make sure you’ve considered word balloon placement when designing a page. The script for Good Omens is more copy-heavy than most modern comic book scripts because I want to preserve as much of the clever original language as I can.
Here I scramble about working out the word balloon space allowance.
Tumblr media
Here’s a deeper look at the process for page 2 from thumbnails to final color.

Now here is where things get a little weird. What you’re about to see is a process called flatting.
If you color a comic without first flatting the art, you are consigning yourself to many extra hours of labor and frustration.
Flatting is a way to tell the computer to select areas inside the black lines so that whenever you click on that particular color, you can paint inside that area perfectly. Since the computer only understands 1 and 2 - or on and off - when you tell that computer to stick to that area, that is what it will do.
There are computer programs that you can use to create your flats. I use Multi-Fill. The results are uniquely ugly, but they get the job done. Here is what that looks like.
Tumblr media
Absolutely hideous.
But pretty much all I have to do from this point on is click each block of color and change it to whatever I like. The result is this:
Tumblr media
I also experimented with selecting areas of the line work as color holds, but I’m getting into more complicated color technique than we may have time for at this point. But from here, I can start painting.
And the painting stage looks like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since I wasn’t entirely sure exactly how I wanted to approach this color style, I took screen shots of some of the changes I made as I went along. In the shot at the left, I’ve given Aziraphale’s heavenly self a golden glow by using a color hold on the line. But I found it needed more contrast to make his figure pop, so I darkened it in the next shot.
I use the computer to create the initial flats, but I either do the final flats myself, or I have help from Julmae Kristoff and/or Dee Cunniffe.
The flats are (usually) not intended to be part of the final work. They are a technical tool.
For example, here are the original, computer-generated flats for one scene in Good Omens.
Tumblr media
And here are the secondary flats by Julmae Kristoff.
Tumblr media
And here is my final color work.
Tumblr media
Since I’m running behind on the book, I’ve brought in Dee Cunniffe to do some extra color work. He is a wonderful colorist, as well as an excellent flatter. I’m not sure to what extent I’ll be handing pages to Dee at this point, because I’m very controlling, and I want to make absolutely certain there are no stylistic anomalies in the art, and I want all the Crowley and Aziraphale pages for myself, is that too much to ask?
I use Faber Castell Pitt Artist pens for my inking. I sometimes use an old-fashioned crowquill as well, but Faber Castells are easier to control, and the ink uses real pigment instead of dye like many markers. All of my originals are created with longevity in mind: acid-free and lightfast. I want the drawings to be fade-proof.
And that is a quick tour of the work so far.
A thousand thanks to Neil Gaiman and the Dunmanifestin team for their incredible kindness and patience, and that goes double for all Good Omens supporters out there. Your indulgence is appreciated more than I can adequately express. I am truly sorry to have been the cause of the delay in the book, but I can only make it up to you by doing my very best.
And that is what I am doing.
BTW, many years ago, I found a little yellow duckling who was getting beaten up by the other ducks, so I saved him and took him to my home to live until my parents adopted him, since they had a nice yard and a pond, and I didn’t.
He had a birth defect and could not fly, which is probably why the other ducks were pecking at him.
He got to stay in the family house, and eat goldfish crackers, and swim in the tub. Eventually they built him his own house. We called it the Duck Majal.
He lived for ten years.
I named him Fred because I’d been watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s when I heard him quacking for help that day we met, and Holly Golightly’s brother was named Fred.
So, here’s to you Fred.
Tumblr media
Until next time.

MC's stepmother: MC, I told you to clean the bedrooms! What are you still doing there?
MC: Cooking.
MC's stepmother: How dare you answer to me!
MC: 'Cause you're asking.
MC's stepmother: Hmph! Clean the bedrooms! And stop being lazy, you pitiful brat! *walks away*
MC: 'You pitiful brat' *while making a face*
Their father: *walking into the kitchen* *chuckles when he sees them*
Their father: I've heard your mother—
MC: She's not my mother.
Their father: Okay. I've heard my second wife yelling. Don't mind her. She doesn't know any better.
MC: I've got used to it. And I still despise you for marrying again. You should've stayed single.
Their father: Come on. We're not talking about this again.
Their father: Anyway, I have a good news for you. *shows them an invitation letter*
MC: What's that?
Their father: An invitation to enter Night Raven College~! Haha! I knew you would be chosen!
MC: ...
MC: You know I don't have magic.
Their father: You do! It— It hasn't awaken yet, but you do!
MC: I'm 16 years old, Dad! I went to different schools of magic, had undergone trainings to awaken this "magic" which I didn't have.
MC: That invitation must be fake.
Their father: No, it's not! It has the official seal and your name on it!
MC: *looks sternly at him* Did you use your connection?
Their father: *guiltily* No.
MC: Dad—
Their father: You should hurry! The carriage will be arriving any moment! *pushing them out of the kitchen*
MC: How about the food?!
Their father: My second wife will do it! Quick! Quick! Run along! Enjoy your youth!
MC: Seriously?!
Their father: I'm gonna miss you. *sniffles* Don't forget to write!
MC's stepmother: *hands them her credit card* Use that.
MC: I don't need it. I have my own money.
MC's stepmother: Just use it, I'm telling you.
*The carriage has arrived.*
MC's stepmother : That child is claustrophobic. Is it okay if you not ask them to be inside that... *looks creeped out with the "gate"*...thing?
MC: They'll put me to sleep. I won't even know.
MC's stepmother: ...
MC's stepmother: I slipped an axe into your bag.
MC: ...
MC: Are you crazy?
MC's stepmother: What?
Their father: Enjoy your trip! Me and my second wife will be fine here!
MC: *rolls eyes and gets into the gate*
MC: *on their first arrival*
MC: *sigh*
MC: Can I drop on my first day?
Professor Trein: Not possible.
MC: But I don't have magic! And you didn't have to give my dad a refund if that's what you're worried about.
Professor Trein: You might be a late bloomer and we're not giving up on you.
MC: Ugh...
Crowley: Is this our new student? *has approached them*
Professor Trein: Yes.
Crowley: Welcome to Night Raven College. What do you think of our school so far?
MC: Just like any other schools I've been from.
Crowley: *gasped* I don't think I can accept that. Night Raven College is the most prestigious school in all Twisted Wonderland!
MC: There's Royal Sword Academy.
Crowley: They're our rival! *clears throat* We promised to your father that we will awaken your hidden magic. You need to trust us.
MC: You accept nepo-babies. Why would I trust you? *their father is a well-known movie producer*
Crowley: ...
Crowley: Let's go to the Mirror Chamber. Follow me.
MC and Professor Trein: ...
MC: He's not trustworthy.
Professor Trein: I can't disagree with you.
MC: *ends up in Ignihyde*
Idia: ...
MC: ...
Idia: Do you have any questions?
MC: No. I just want to go home.
Idia: Mwehee! Me too. *clears throat* Sorry. No one will bother you in Ignihyde. I can assure you that.
MC: Thanks... I can see that all of you here are minding your own business.

Barcelona Femení x Child!Reader
Summary: Your sister takes you to work
Tumblr media
"They are cool, si?"
You stomped your foot, watching as the bottom of your shoe lit up. You nodded. "Si." You stomped your foot again. "Cool."
Mapi beamed at you. She thought you looked super cool in your new light-up shoes and Barcelona jersey. A toy cat that looked suspiciously like Bagheera was clutched in your hand and you sucked in the ear almost absentmindedly.
"Hey," Came a soft voice from the bedroom," I thought we agreed on your normal shoes, elskling?"
"Pretty shoes." You pointed at the new light-up ones Mapi had given you, stamping for a third time to show Ingrid what you were talking about.
She gave Mapi a pointed look. "I told you not to buy those for her."
Mapi didn't even try to look apologetic. "They were cute. She is cute. It made sense."
"They're not broken in," Ingrid replied, busying herself with zipping up your jacket and sorting out the lopsided ponytail that Mapi had pulled your hair into. "Her feet will hurt later."
"She can take them off. We're on the pitch for most of the day. It's no big deal."
Ingrid rolled her eyes before lightly pinching your cheek. "Come on, elskling." She placed some comically large sunglasses on your face. "Let's get going."
●~●~●~●~
It hadn't exactly been planned - your long-term visit to Barcelona - but your parents had somehow won a cruise for two people that was non-refundable.
They had anguished over it for hours, looking to see if anyone could look after you but all your immediate family were too busy or unsuited to look after such a young child.
The answer came, however, in the form of your older sister - who routinely phoned home every other day and listened to your mother complaining about there being no one to watch you.
Ingrid had agreed instantly.
She didn't see you often - with her being in Spain all the time - and you were at the age that everything she did or said was exciting and interesting.
So, she flew out to Norway to get you and flew back out to Spain hours later.
Your first day in Spain was fun. Ingrid's girlfriend took you out shopping and to eat nice food and she even got you your special new light-up shoes.
"Elskling," Ingrid warned when she felt you kick the back of her seat again," Stop it."
"Makin' 'em pretty," You protested but she fixed you a stern look and passed over some goldfish crackers to keep you occupied on the drive to her work.
Ingrid's Mapi shoved a cap onto your head, moving it to cover your eyes before you were hoisted up into her arms.
You giggled. "Mapi!"
"Huh? What?" She teased," Did something happen?" She pushed your cap down again.
More laughter bubbled out of you. "Mapi!"
She laughed with you, enjoying the way you rested easily into her as Ingrid followed closely behind, digging through your backpack for sunscreen.
When you all finally make it into the locker room, it was mostly empty save for a few people who are talking amongst themselves.
Ingrid snatched you from Mapi's arms and smothered your face in sunscreen.
You puffed out your cheeks in annoyance but Ingrid continued rubbing in the icky cream. "Ingrid!" You squealed when she poked your cheek before laying kisses upon it in apology.
"Sorry, elskling but mamma won't be happy with me if you come home all burnt," Ingrid said as you tried to wipe it away.
You huffed in annoyance and tried to peer around her to have a look at this new room. She blocked your eyeline with her body though, changing into her training top before pulling you out of the child-sized Maria Leon jersey Mapi had scrounged up the moment she heard you were visiting.
A more appropriate t-shirt was thrown over your head as Ingrid sat you down in her cubby. "Are you sure you don't want to wear your normal shoes, elskling?" She asked, waving your regular pair in front of your face.
You shook your head stubbornly when you noticed Mapi making faces at you from behind Ingrid's back. "Want these."
Ingrid sighed but let you keep them on.
"Who's this?"
Two girls appeared over Ingrid's shoulder with Mapi, who grinned excitedly and patted your head proudly.
"y/n," She said," She's Ingrid's hermanita. y/n, this is Lucy and Keira, they are from England."
"Hi," You chirped.
The taller girl grinned at you, crouching to your level. "Hi, y/n. It's nice to meet you. How old are you?"
You held up the right amount of fingers on your hand as you smiled back at her.
"Wow," Lucy said," That's so old. You're a big girl, huh? Kei, I didn't know we were going to be in the presence of such a big girl. Did you?"
"No idea," Keira replied. She smiled at you, seemingly more reserved than her counterpart as she waved before being caught in a conversation with someone nearby.
Lucy entertained you for several more minutes, asking you simple questions that you could recognise in English. She seemed just as excited about your light-up shoes as you and Mapi.
"Alright, elskling," Your sister said as she returned to your side," Let's get going."
She offered you her hand to take but you ignored it, wiggling your way between Mapi and Keira, taking the Englishwoman's hand - much to her shock.
Keira reminded you a little of your sister just like how Lucy reminded you of Mapi. You swung your joined hands together with a wide grin as Keira walked you out to where she and the others were working.
You didn't fully understand Ingrid's job like you understood everyone else's in your family. You knew Mamma and Papa did stuff with their computers and paper that was so important you weren't allowed to touch them but all Ingrid seemed to do was run around with her friends and her Mapi.
Regardless, you much preferred going to work with Ingrid than going to work with Mamma and Papa.
Lots of other girls were on the field that Keira led you onto and you tucked yourself into her side firmly as Ingrid's hand came to hold onto your shoulder.
"Thank you, Keira," She said," But I've got her."
Keira released your hand and you were up on Ingrid's hip a moment later. Mamma and Papa had stopped picking you up like this a while ago but Ingrid had refused, citing that you would always be little enough for her to do this to you.
You flopped into Ingrid's shoulder as she brought you over to the rest of the group. She had placed those silly sunglasses on your face again so none of these new people could see the way your eyes darted nervously from side to side as you took them all in.
They were all trying to make their looks subtle but even at your age, you could tell what they were doing.
An official-looking man was talking so you took the time to inspect everyone. You vaguely recognised them, from when Mamma and Papa watched Ingrid work on the tv but you didn't really know many of their names.
But the two people that you did recognise both gave you a smile.
Ingrid carted you away to a shady area just off the pitch and set you up with a colouring book and some crayons. She pressed a kiss to your crown, smoothing down your flyaways before telling you to come and get her if you needed to.
You weren't alone for long though because Caro and Frido joined you almost as soon as Ingrid disappeared. You smiled at both of them.
Frido was Ingrid's best friend and often times came home with your sister. Whenever she visited, she made sure to take you to get ice cream and crepes.
You knew Caroline too. She played with Norway with Ingrid when they weren't playing in Spain. You had met her several years ago now, when you were much littler and Ingrid had decided that she would show her baby sister off to anyone who would stick around to listen.
"Hi, y/n," Caro said softly.
You looked up from your colouring sheet, beaming. "Hi!" You got to your feet and hugged her legs.
"What?" Frido said in faux annoyance," No hug for me? For shame, y/n."
You giggled. "Silly, Frido," You said," You get hugs too."
She looked delighted when you finally hugged her, picking you up and shaking you around for a moment before you were placed back onto the ground with your colouring page again.
"Caro, Frido," A girl approached," Jona told you to get a move on. You can see the nena later." Her English didn't sound like yours, Ingrid and Caro's or even like Frido's. She sounded a lot more like Mapi.
You tilted your head to the side, trying to place her face with the one that you had seen on the tv before.
"This is not any nena, Marta," Frido chastised with a smile," This is Ingrid's little sister. Get used to her face. She'll be playing for Barca when she's older, I'm sure of it."
The new girl - Marta - laughed and exchanged a look with Caro, who nodded seriously. She crouched down to greet you like Lucy did earlier. She reached out a hand that you took - Papa had always told you that a good, strong handshake was how you made a good impression.
"Well, then," She said in her Mapi-accented English," I suppose I should greet my future teammate. I am Marta Torrejón. And You?"
"y/n Engen," You replied because Mamma had also told you to always introduce yourself.
Marta smiled at you. "It's nice to meet you. I'll be sure to get to know you later, if you're going to play for Barca like your sister."
She dragged Frido and Caro with her back to where the rest of the girls were playing around with balls and cones.
You turned back to your colouring page - a cat that you scrawled black all over to look like Bagheera. When you were satisfied, you pulled out another page and started colouring again.
Sometimes, you would look up to see if Ingrid and Mapi were okay (being around so many people was overwhelming sometimes and you needed to be sure they were coping alright) and you would see a new girl hovering nearby.
None of them ever approached - bar Frido and Caro who would come over on orders from Ingrid to remind you to drink - but you could tell they were hovering.
Your tummy grumbled after a while and you huffed in annoyance. You were in the middle of colouring another kitten picture, this one to mimic the kitty you had back home.
Ingrid, of course, had thought ahead and another packet of goldfish crackers had been tucked into the pocket of your backpack.
You dug it out with a vengeance but couldn't quite get the package open. You looked to each side. Your sister and her girlfriend were on the opposite side of the pitch, very far away and you couldn't see Frido or Caro nearby either.
Three sets of girls in the same tops as Ingrid and Mapi were near though, taking a water break.
You rose to your feet, your special new shoes lighting up as you took nervous steps towards the girls. You tugged on the closest one's shorts.
She looked like she had jumped out of her skin when she noticed you, mouth hanging open in shock.
You presented her with your dilemma. "Please."
She took the packet from you but didn't move to open it, instead looking over at the other two girls in wild confusion. She then looked at you like you were one of those dangerous exploding bombs you had seen on one of Papa's tv shows.
"Er..."
"Please," You said again, staring up at her with wide eyes.
She stared down at you with similarly wide eyes.
Both of the older women laughed and one of them took the packet from the younger girl. "She wants you to open them, Esmee," She said," My Mateo does the same thing."
She passed you the now open package and smiled. "You are Ingrid's hermanita, si?"
"Si." You replied with a nod, cramming as many goldfish into your mouth as you could.
The other woman laughed. "Careful, nena," She warned," Slow down or you will choke."
"Will not," You insisted but did slow down your eating.
The first older woman kneeled down to you level and adjusted your hat. "You're a bit older than my Mateo. How old are you, nena?"
You held up the same number of fingers as you did with Lucy and all three girls suitably cooed over you - although the younger girl, Esmee, still seemed a little wary.
Mateo's Mamma, Irene, made sure your hat blocked the sun properly without covering your eyes while her friend, Sandra, let you drink from her bottle when you told them you had run out.
"Come with me," She said," It's cooler where I am. Esmee, grab her stuff and let Ingrid or Mapi know that the nena is with me."
She led you over to where she and the other keepers were working. Sandra was right, it was shadier where she was working and her friends Cata and Gemma suitably oohed and awwed over your colouring pages enough that you made all three of them pictures to take home with them.
●~●~●~●~
Ingrid came to collect you from Sandra a little while later. She put the back of her hand to your forehead and hummed. "We will get you out of the sun, elskling," She declared," It is lunchtime. Are you hungry?"
"Ja."
She laughed at your determined expression and passed your bag off to Mapi, who had tried to grab you.
Lunch was buffet style, Mapi told you. You weren't quite sure what that meant but your sister explained that it was like when you had barbeques at home and you just took what you wanted and left what you didn't.
You remained on Ingrid's hip for the trip to the food line when she put you down and made you hold her hand.
A lot of people were in the same room so you were glad that your sister didn't make you let go of her.
"When Mapi told me your sister was in town, I pictured someone older," A girl who had been playing with Ingrid earlier said," Not a nena this young."
You smiled up at her. "I'm a mistake," You said proudly.
Ingrid sighed loudly as the new girl - who introduced herself as Mariona, along with the girl behind her, Salma - laughed. "Sorry," Ingrid said, shuffling you closer into her legs," Our aunt teased our Momma about it once and we didn't realise she was eavesdropping until she started repeating."
The other girl, Salma, laughed as well. She held her fist out for a fist bump that you gladly gave. "I was an accident too," She said before taking your plate from Ingrid.
Between her and Mariona, your plate was stacked high with the tastiest things that Ingrid complained about.
She dragged you away from them when they tried to convince you that tying Mapi's laces together would be the height of comedy.
You were quickly sat between your sister and her girlfriend at a full table. Spanish chatter surrounded you but you were focused on devouring your meal.
"That is a lot of food."
Ingrid groaned at the words. "Salma and Mariona wouldn't stop. Elskling, wouldn't let me choose for her."
"She won't be able to eat all of that."
"You're welcome to take some if she lets you."
The person your sister was talking to gently tapped your hand for your attention.
"Elskling," Your sister said," This is Asisat. She had a question for you."
You tilted your head to the side. "Hi."
"Hello, y/n. Do you mind if I have some of your food, please? I'm just so hungry."
You studied her for a moment before you pushed your plate towards her. "Okay," You said," Because you said please. Papa says manners are important."
A collective group of squeals rang out from the other side of the table at your words so you fixed the group with a confused look.
"Your sister is cute, Ingrid," One of them said, waving at you.
"Elskling, Ona said you were cute," Ingrid said in Norwegian," What do you say?"
"Thank you," You replied dutifully which only led to the other two girls squealing again.
"You speak good English," Another said - Jana, you would come to know.
"Thank you."
"And your hat suits you," Bruna said next.
"Thank you."
"Ah!" Mapi chastised, swatting the three of them in turn," She's not a performing monkey. Leave her alone."
The three of them wilted and you frowned. They looked a little sad and you didn't like that.
"Ingrid's Mapi got me new shoes," You said suddenly when there was a lull in your sister and Asisat's conversation," They light up when I stamp. It's cool." To prove your point, you ducked under the table and reappeared between Ona and Bruna's seats, stamping your shoes to make the colours light up. "It is so cool, yes?"
"So cool."
●~●~●~●~
Frido stole you from Ingrid with little fanfare when you followed your sister to her gym session.
"Take the bag, Frido!" Ingrid called after her.
Frido ignored her as you rode on her shoulders into the gym. "I should use you as my weights today," She joked, poking your tummy when your top rose up.
"No!" You laughed.
"No?" She teased," Are you sure? I think you'll make a great weight for me."
"No!" You said again as she tickled you. "Nei, Frido! Nei!"
"Alright." She placed you on your feet again and ruffled your hair.
"Frido," A new voice said," Ingrid told me to give you this, for the nena."
Frido took your backpack with an exaggerated groan that had you in peals of laughter. "y/n, this is Aitana. She's a friend of your sister's."
You looked up at Aitana. She looked cool in a different way to Mapi's coolness but she was still pretty cool in your humble opinion. "Hi."
She smiled at you. "Hi, y/n. I have heard a lot about you from Ingrid and Mapi. It's nice to meet you finally."
"Hi," You said again because you weren't entirely sure what to say to that. You thought for a moment before you decided to test her coolness. "I have light-up shoes...from Ingrid's Mapi." You stamped your feet like you did at lunch.
"Wow," Aitana said in awe, cementing herself in your cool list," Those are so cool. I wish I had light-up shoes."
You nodded sagely. "They are the best."
"Light-up shoes?" Another voice said, a girl you knew to be Patri," I should have worn my light-up shoes today. We could have matched."
Mapi had told you about Patri before - how she was almost as cool as Mapi but not quite. With this knowledge, you patted Patri's leg almost patronisingly.
"It's okay. I can wear my light-up shoes tomorrow so you can wear yours too. So we can match."
Patri felt oddly touched at your words. "Thank you, nena."
You beamed. "I match with Ingrid when she comes home too. We have the same t-shirt and the same trousers. Mamma says Ingrid is silly to match with me because I'm so little but Ingrid doesn't care because she's super cool."
"Ingrid is super cool," Another voice said. Your head swivelled between the little group that amassed around you. This girl was shorter than the others but she had tattoos so was automatically super cool in your head because some of your most favourite people had tattoos as well.
"She is!" You got a bit excited at that. Not many people understand how super cool your older sister was so you were happy that someone other than you said it aloud.
"I like you," You declared firmly, holding out a hand for her to shake," Let's be friends. I'm y/n."
The girl shook your hand gladly. "I'm Claudia."
An exaggerated gasp sounded from behind you. "Are you replacing me with Pina, nena? Is she your new best friend?"
You escaped your little group and ran into the newcomer's arms immediately.
"Don't be silly," You said, patting her on the cheek," You're Tia Alexia, my most favourite."
"Very good, nena," She praised, laying a kiss to your crown.
"I was wondering when you would steal her," Mapi said as she approached," I'm surprised it took you so long."
Alexia flashed her a smile. "I though I would let everyone get to know my favourite nena before stealing her away. Want to hang out with me, y/n?"
"Ja!"
You spent the rest of the day, firmly attached to Alexia's side.
You met her the second to last time Mamma and Papa took you to visit Ingrid. They had gone out for the day to do touristy things while you stayed in with Ingrid, Mapi and Bagheera. Alexia had stopped by in a rush of busy activity and ended up staying well into the evening - helping you play all of Ingrid's board games and even putting together a puzzle before your bedtime.
The last time you visited Ingrid, she was there again and appeared almost every day of your stay until you finally relented to calling her Tia when she asked.
"No," Alexia said when the day was over and Ingrid came to collect you," This is my y/n. I'm taking her home with me." She bounced you up and down. "Wouldn't that be fun, nena? You come home with me and we'll have a sleepover!"
"With chicken nuggets?" You asked hopefully.
"Si! Of course!"
"Ale," Ingrid said with an eye roll," Come on, hand her over. Elskling, you can't sleep over at Alexia's house. You don't have any clothes to take."
You frowned at that. Ingrid was right - she usually was - but you were excellent at coming up with solutions to problems.
"Tia Alexia can come to our house!" You said," Because she can wear your clothes and she can sleep in my bed with me in the guest room!"
"Excellent plan!" Alexia complimented with a grin," She's right, Ingrid. Don't separate me from my nena so soon."
Ingrid rolled her eyes, already knowing she was fighting a losing battle when she saw Mapi giggling in the corner. "She's here all summer. You'll see her plenty. Besides, haven't you got to go home and feed Nala?"
Helpful as ever, you spoke up," We can go to Alexia's house to feed Nala and then come home for the sleepover. Please, Ingrid? Please, please, please?"
You batted your eyelashes at her and she sighed.
"You have to promise that you'll eat all your dinner," Ingrid said before winking," And that you'll make sure your Tia Alexia gives you big cuddles at bedtime."
Your eyes lit up with joy. "I can do that!"

About time | Keira Walsh x Lioness!Reader
Where your feelings for one of your best friend's finally comes to light.
My first Keira fic for her birthday, hope you like it :) @scribblesofagoonerr thank you for the idea!
Woso masterlist | Words: 1k
-----
Keira's birthday fell during England training camp this year, this meant that the focus wouldn't really be on her as everyone was busy training, but you wanted her day to be special, so you started planning some things.
Your roommate Leah watched you call around, plan, and organise everything. “You're doing an awful lot for Kei's birthday.” The captain commented, hinting at an underlying reason for you to be putting so much effort into one of your best friend's birthday while none of the rest of the group was making a big deal out of it, but you just shrugged, “She deserves her day to be about her and not just football.” Leah knowingly shook her head. “Sure, you're right.” It was known amongst most of the team that you had feelings for the midfielder, even when you had never spoken those words out loud.
You would have training in the morning, so your plan was to take Keira, along with Leah, Georgia, and Lucy to some tourist attractions around the city you were currently staying in. Making the reservations for the attractions and dinner. The girls were all in on your plan, only Kiera didn't know about it. Your plans weren't until late, because you would have a plane to catch in the morning.
After an intense training session, everyone sat down for lunch together. Happy birthday was sung for the birthday girl, before everyone dug into their food. During dinner Sarina asked for everyone's attention. “Listen up team, there has been a change in our schedule. Our flight for tomorrow has been cancelled, so we're taking an earlier flight today. Let’s finish lunch within half an hour and then pack our bags and head out.” At the news you dropped your sandwich and walked out of the room, Leah and Lucy were quick to follow. “Everything is ruined.” Say as you notice them following you into the hallway. “Hey, it’s alright. I’m sure you can get a refund on the reservations you made.” Lucy tried reassuring you. “It’s not about the money, Luce.” Leah decides to push it, “Then what is going on, they’re just some activities, I’m sure we can do something else after we land.”
“Because I love her, and she deserves the perfect birthday day.” The words leave your mouth before you even realise. Your eyes widened when you saw that Georgia and Keira had joined. The latter her eyes had widened at your confession too. “Lucy, Leah, let’s go pack our bags.” Georgia grabbed both their arms before they could say no.
As Georgia whisked away Lucy and Leah, you felt your nerves kick in. What was Keira thinking? Her face was hard to read, you could read a mix of surprise, confusion, and a slight warmth. “You.. you love me?” She finally spoke, her voice filled with uncertainty.
You weren’t able to meet your best friend’s eyes, too nervous about what her expression had changed to. “Yes, I’m sorry I didn’t mean for you to find out this way, and definitely not on your birthday. Today is supposed to be about you, and I ruined it.” Keira steps forward, and slowly reaches out to touch your arm. “You didn’t ruin anything, if anything you made it unforgettable.” You allow yourself to meet her gaze. “Yeah?” Keira nods, “Best birthday present ever.”
A wave of relief washes over you, you hadn’t expected Keira’s response. But what did it mean? As if she could read your mind, Keira spoke again. “For what it’s worth, I feel the same way.” Your breath catches in your throat, “You do?”
Keira nods, and moves even closer to you. She looks between your eyes and your lips, when she sees you do the same, she leans in and presses her lips gently on yours. You kiss her back instantly, you had imagined this moment many different times, but the way her lips moved against yours was better than you could have ever imagined.
You break apart when you hear shuffling on the other side of the door. She grabs your hand and pulls you towards the elevators. “I think we have a plane to catch.” You follow her with a smile, and a happy heart. “There is actually one more  thing that could make this the perfect birthday.” She said nervously once you entered the elevator. This immediately piqued your interest, you wanted her to have the best birthday ever. “Will you be my girlfriend, y/n?” Your smile grows impossibly larger. “Yes, I would love to.”
Hand in hand you walk into your shared hotel room, only to find the rest of the girls all staring back at you. “Does this mean…” Leah asks hopefully. “That she’s my girlfriend? Yes it does.” You say while squeezing Keira’s hand. Saying that out loud for the first time sounded so right. The three of them congratulate you with hugs before G interrupts the get together. “I hate to break the love birds up, but you two need to pack your bags.”
The two of you walk into the main entrance of the hotel hand in hand, which does not go unnoticed by your fellow teammates. “Is this finally happening?” Beth asks for all the wondering minds.”Yes it is.” Keira puts her arm around you and kisses your head. “It was about damn time!” Beth giggles, and earns a few comments in agreement. “Alright team, let’s head to the airport.” You're escorted back to the bus that will take you to the airport, and you not once let go of Keira’s hand, not caring what the public saw. You were happy, and nothing could break your little bubble.
As you boarded the bus with Keira by your side, a newfound sense of elation filled your heart. Despite the sudden change in plans and the unexpected confession, the day had unfolded in a way you could never have imagined. Keira's smile was all the confirmation you needed that your feelings were reciprocated, and as the bus hummed with the chatter of your teammates, you couldn't help but steal glances at her, revelling in the warmth of her hand in yours, and what the future would hold for the both of you.

Old Bloodhounds
P3 | catch me outside, how bout that!?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your eyes met Mark's for a split second before he broke eye contact. Mark and you go way back, but shit happened and…and you remember him telling you that you were dead to him. As the queue shortened, one of Mark's friends practically bounced up and down when she got to the counter. Mark lingered behind his friend group, doing his obvious best to ignore your presence and make it seem like you were never really there in front of him.
“Oh my god, AERI! I've always wanted to meet you! I'm Ningning, and I'm from the MPA Faculty.”
“I'm honored! God, you're really pretty—and you're talented too. Wanna take a pic of just the both of us? The rest of you guys can have y/n take your orders first.” Aeri was practically gushing. She always had a soft spot for attractive people.
You watched as she and the girl go over to the back for a quick photo session.
You waved at the rest of the group, albeit a little awkwardly since Mark was a part of them. You picked up a cup and a sharpie, indicating you were ready to take their orders. The pretty girl with short brown hair ordered first.
“I'll have a hot latte with oat milk.”
“Iced americano with less sugar, please. Thank you. ”
“I’ll have a hot mocha with regular milk. You're really cute. Can you also throw in your number?” The guy got two blows at the back of his head while Mark sighed deeply at his annoying ass friend. You grinned awkwardly, trying to act like his friend didn't just hit on you.
Then your eyes met Mark's again.
“Uh, can I get…” When it was Mark's turn to order, his head kinda blanked, and all of his friend group—and you—were looking at him right now. Putting him on the spot.
Shit.
“We actually have tea here. Do you still take it the way you did back in high school?” You asked carefully, knowing that speaking to him so casually would tick him off but he was holding up the line, and his friend that took a picture with Aeri had already returned.
“...yeah. I'll just have that then.”
Mark could see Haechan's eyebrows shot up, while Winter and Chenle just side-eyed him. Mark usually thanks his servers—always. They waited for the thanks to come out, but it never did—and he's even looking to the ground instead of facing you, jaw taut and fists closed. He looked genuinely pissed, for some inconceivable reason. All of his friends looked between you and him, bewildered.
What was his beef with you?
“Okayyyy, whatever that was…Um, can I have a hot latte with regular milk? And if Aeri can also make the latte art for it…” Ningning giggled, glancing at Aeri shyly from under her lashes.
“Sure thing! But no promises though, I kinda suck at it.” Aeri grinned and wrote down Ningning’s name on the cup.
That kinda brought down the tension between you and Mark, thankfully. You let out a deep sigh as you worked on their orders, going to the station and working beside Yangyang. He eyed you up and down before stealing a glance at Mark. You felt his lips near your ears as he whispered.
“Was the breakup that messy? Did you cheat on him with his worst enemy or something?”
You rolled your eyes to the side at his question.
“He’s not my ex, you nosy shit. Get back to work.”
Considering all of you were getting the hang of it, it didn't take up to 10 minutes to finish their orders. You gave them their drinks one by one as Yangs cleaned the station. You were about to hand off Mark's iced sweet tea when Yangyang stumbled and hit you from behind, causing the drink to splash against Mark's jacket. You gasped at the accident.
“Oh, no.” Yangyang muttered from behind you—but suspiciously, he didn't sound too remorseful.
Chenle was glaring daggers at the captain of NCU’s soccer team. Mark was brushing away the cold tea off of his jacket with a frustrated sigh.
“Damn it, this jacket can only be dry-cleaned.” Mark hissed, regretting buying a high maintenance jacket as a broke student.
“Oh my god, we're so sorry. We'll refund you and take it to the dry cleaners ourselves. We'll pay for it too.” Aeri bowed apprehensively.
Mark looked like he was about to reject the offer, but Chenle gripped his shoulder and started to take the jacket off of him.
“Just go with it, Mark. It's the least they can do for you.” Chenle huffed out, glaring at Yangyang who continued to clean their work station with a small smirk on his face.
You seriously wanted to recreate The Simpsons scene of Homer choking Bart right fucking now. You're Homer Simpson and Yangyang is Bart.
Chenle shoved the jacket into your hands and the rest of his group left, with Ningning looking a little upset that her moment with Aeri now ruined. You tilted your face up to the sky and sighed deeply, thanking god that the coffee was about to sell out anyway, even if you did plan to bring the leftovers home. Then you dropped your head to look at the tea scented jacket you were holding.
Fucking Yangyang.

hii!!
i just saw that your requests are open. 🥹
i was wondering if you'd be okay with a request for a Soul Mate fic with a short!reader (5ft - 5ft2) who wears glasses x Yandere!Bakugo?
would it also be okay if the reader was written to be very sweet and caring to other people?
if you're not okay with the request for the reader's height/ glasses/ personality being too specific, then please, please ignore me.
thank you so, so much either way. 🥹
didn't specify which bakugou:))))
Yandere!Bakugou Mitsuki x reader
Doormat
(Warnings: toxic relationship, yandere, possessiveness, manipulation)
You tried to be a kind person.
You looked out for others, you cared deeply for your friends, you tried to make your parents proud of you. Eventually, your reputation became what you wanted it to be: dependable, responsible, kind.
Mitsuki had a habit of taking advantage of that.
"Again?" Suda scoffed.
You give a timid smile. "Sorry, but Mitsuki had a bad day today, so we're just gonna stay over at her place."
"Right." She rolls her eyes. "A bad day. Let her throw her trantrum alone. C'mon, we've been looking forward to this for a month! And suddenly you're just gonna ditch me like this? Those tickets were expensive!"
"I'm sorry," you repeat, truly apologetic, "Is there a way you could get a refund-"
"It's not about the tickets." Suda cuts you off. "It's about her. Seriously, when's the last time we've ever hung out with each other? I know you're in love, but can you really not see the way she's hoarding all your attention?"
Your mouth opens and closes. You don't know what to say to that.
Thankfully, you don't have to say anything.
Hands wrap around your shoulders, and a face nestles into your shoulder. The faint smell of something sweet floats in the air.
"Who's hoarding all your attention?" Your soulmate asks. She kisses your cheek.
Suda rolls her eyes at the blatant affection.
"Hey, Bakugou." She states. Mitsuki ignores her.
"What're you doing, here?" She asks you instead. "I asked you to wait for me after class, right?"
There's an edge in her voice that makes you shift around nervously.
"I needed to talk to Suda about the concert," you reply, "and also I was thinking I could-"
"Great! Since you're done with that, let's go home then." She interrupts, swinging an arm around your shoulder.
When you look behind you, Suda is shaking her head. Your stomach flips.
"A new cafe opened. Let's go there," Mitsuki says.
"Oh?" You give her a glance. "I thought you just wanted to go home. Didn't you say your professor really pissed you off-"
"C'mon." She bumped your shoulder with her own. "That was hours ago. Don't worry 'bout it."
You frown. If Mitsuki had gotten over her gripe so quickly, you wished she would have at least told you. Then, you wouldn't had to have that awkward conversation with Suda.
"Besides, I need to treat my soulmate out now and then, right?" She traces her name on your wrist.
Ah, there it was.
How the universe decided you two were the perfect match, you wouldn't know. Bakugou Mitsuki was top of her class, head of the cheerleading squad, an extremely useful quirk, came from a rich family, made people's heads turn. You were a quirkless nobody. You always feared that your soulmate would reject you because of how useless you were.
Mitsuki just calls you hers.
Maybe that's why you were so lenient on her demanding nature.
She pulls you through the cafe doors. You let her order for the two of you because 'its your first time here, obviously you're not gonna know what's good' even though it's her first time here too. A part of you wants to look at the menu, but she's already telling the waiter something and he's whisking off. It's fine. Besides, she's paying.
He comes back later with something too sweet and way too much whipped cream to ever be considered coffee. You don't complain. It's good. Mitsuki always has good tastes.
"Good right?" She reaches over, flicking away some whipped cream on the side of your cheek before popping her thumb in her mouth. You flush at her brash behavior.
"It's amazing." You honestly say. "Thanks for bringing me here."
She gives an affectionate smile.
"I just love spoiling you, sometimes."
You look away bashfully. She laughs.
It's a nice date. Mitsuki tells you about her project, how annoying everyone in her group is. If you could, you'd listen to her talk for hours.
But someone always tries to ruin it.
You don't know him, but he doesn't cast you a glance. Clearly, he's only interested in one person. He sits next to her with an easy-going smile. Flirtatious. You frown, sucking on your straw.
"Hey-"
"No." She instantly cuts him off. Just like that. No fake coddling, no polite smiles. She doesn't even glance at him. You hide your smile behind your drink. Your girlfriend's funny sometimes.
He puts his hands up immediately, scoffing with an amused smile. Then, he looks at you. Barely a glance. You don't even notice.
Mitsuki does.
The tone instantly shifts. She hisses, red eyes narrow to slits.
"Fuck off." She says, a sharp bite in her tone. You're grateful it isn't directed at you.
It surprises him. He doesn't expect it, clearly. Her voice is enough to jolt him up as he stammers through his words. When he's out of her sight, her lip curls into disgust.
"C'mon." She tells you. "Sick of this place. We're leaving."
You frown, looking down at your drink. She's already done with hers. You're only halfway through yours.
You stand up anyway, obediently following behind her.
She's still seething. You know she doesn't like it when people look at things that are hers. You know that well. When your fingers slip through her own, she relaxes, just the tiniest bit. You give her a shy smile.
Her grip tightens around yours.
You tried to be a kind person.
You looked out for others, you cared deeply for your friends, you tried to make your parents proud of you-
What a fucking lie.
You were just a doormat. You weren't kind, you weren't caring, you just bent over backwards for people. You needed to please others around you like a dog. You needed others to love you so you could love yourself.
It's why you were perfect for Mitsuki. You were too scared to ever say no to her. Hers to mold into her own image, a perfected being.
You were made for her. Of course you were.
You two were soulmates after all. Together forever.

Twst gay incorrect quotes
I hope you all enjoy it <3
Jamil: I feel like doing something stupid.
Kalim: I’m stupid, do me.
Kalim: Hey, wanna take a shower with me?
Jamil: I have a gun in that nightstand beside the bed. If I ever say no to that question, I want you to take it out and shot me because I’ve obviously gone crazy.
Jamil: Just a minute. I need to go take out the trash.
Kalim: Oh. We're going out?
Jamil: Wh...
Kalim: Wow, Jamil, you want to hold my hand before marriage? How awfully lewd of you.
Jamil: We literally slept together yesterday.
Kalim: That's NOTHING compared to the lewdness of holding hands.
Kalim: Know why I called you in here?
Jamil: Because I accidentally sent you a dick pic.
Kalim: *Stops pouring two glasses of wine.* Accidentally?
Epel: Jack is too tall for me to kiss them on the lips. What should I do?
Ace: Punch them in the stomach. Then, when they double over in pain, kiss them.
Ortho: Tackle them!
Sebek: Dump them.
Deuce: Kick them in the shin!
Jack: No to all of those! Just ask me to lean down!!
Sebek: If I fall…
Ortho: I’ll be there to catch you.
Ace: *looks at Jack* What if I fall?
Jack: Then I’ll fall with you, never leaving your side.
Epel: *watches these two interactions*
Epel, to Deuce: And if I fall?
Deuce: I’ll be the one who pushed you.
Epel: Just be yourself.
Deuce: Really? Epel, I have one day to win over Ortho’s parents.
Deuce: How long did it take for you guys to like me?
Jack: Couple of weeks.
Ace: Six months.
Sebek: Jury’s still out.
Deuce: See Epel? ‘Just be yourself,’ what kind of garbage advice is that?!
Jack: From now on we will be using code names.
Jack: You can address me as Eagle One.
Jack: Sebek is “been there done that”.
Jack: Ace is “currently doing that”.
Jack: Epel is “it happened once in a dream”.
Jack: Ortho is “if I had to pick a gal”.
Jack: And Deuce is..
Jack: Eagle Two
Deuce: Oh thank god.
Epel: Is it still visible? Where Sebek slapped me?
Jack: Your face looks like a don't walk signal.
Ace: Your face looks like a photo negative for the hamburger helper box.
Deuce: A palm reader could tell Sebek's future by looking at your face.
Ortho: The phrase 'talk to the hand cause the face ain't listening' doesn't work for you, because the hand is your face.
Epel: ...A simple 'yes' would've sufficed.
Sebek: Fine! Judge all you want but...
Sebek, points at Ortho: Married a lesbian.
Sebek, points at Deuce: Left a man at the altar.
Sebek, points at Jack: Fell in love with a gay ice dancer.
Sebek, points at Ace: Threw a girl’s wooden leg in a fire.
Sebek, points at Epel: Lives in a box!
(Silas in my Scarabia oc he is Kalims younger brother. Ashton is my Octavinel oc and he is Azuls younger half brother)
Deuce: Silas, we need that!
Silas, holding Sebek over a trash can: Nope.
Deuce: Gimme it—
Silas: It’s garbage.
Yuu: We all have our demons.
Yuu, grabbing Ortho: This one’s mine.
*Squad reactions to being told ‘I love you’*
Deuce: Thanks fam!
Ortho: Oh no.
Silas: *cries* I love you too.
Ashton: Sounds fake, but okay.
Sebek: *A flustered mess*
Yuu: Can I get a refund?
Jack: Tommorrow's garbage day.
Silas: I can't believe they made a whole day dedicated to you.
*talking about Ashton*
Epel: They are beauty.
Ortho: They are grace.
Silas, runnning into the room: THEY CAN DESTROY THE HUMAN RACE!
Ace: *is wearing silk pants* How does this look?
Ashton: Like its slips on and off really easily.
Ace:
Ashton: No, I didn't mean it like that-
Sebek: We know what you meant.
Epel: look Ortho, I'm not slut shaming you but...
Epel: Actually yeah, I'm TOTALLY slut shaming you.
Ashton: What are you in the mood for?
Sebek: World domination.
Ashton: That's a bit ambitious.
Sebek: You are my world.
Ashton: Aww...
Sebek:
Ashton:
Sebek:
Ashton: OH.
Ashton: Oh~
Floyd: *banging a pen on the table out of frustration*
Riddle: Stop that. How would YOU feel if I banged you on the table?
Floyd: I—
Floyd: I don’t know the correct answer to that question.
Azul: If we were in prison you guys would be like my bitches.
Idia: Do you think sex without love is a sin?
Floyd: If it is, I’ll see you in hell
Azul: Go fuck yourself.
Jade, smugly: Sure, but only if you watch
Jade: I know every song to ever exist it doesn't matter if it's from the past, present or the future.
Floyd: Oh yeah? Then continue this.
Floyd: I don't cook I don't clean-
Jade: So let me tell you how I got this ring.
Jade & Floyd: .....
Jade & Floyd: GOBBLE ME, SWALLOW ME-
Azul: You know my motto: carpe diem, carpe noctem, carpe coles.
Idia: Seize the day, seize the night, what’s the last one?
Azul: Seize the dick.
Azul: Caffeine no longer keeps me awake while I work, so instead I have Idia periodically send me texts saying ‘we need to talk.’
Azul: It gives me the right amount of adrenaline and fear I need to keep going.
Azul: Do you want to explain the text you sent me last night?
Idia: It was autocorrect.
Azul: Autocorrect wrote "You're so hot. Please step on me."?
Idia: Yes.
Azul: I want you back...
Idia: 3 words, 8 letters. Say it, and I'm yours.
Azul: I got food?
Idia: ...you know me so well.

Inspo: These posts by @sowhumpshaped & this post by @oliversrarebooks
[Next part - Flight Risk Pt. 2]
"Honey can't go in the cargo hold! She's too delicate. Look, I have a pet ticket, I bought an extra seat!" Luce holds up her phone, swiping to show the gate attendant the extra ticket code. She keeps one hand on the back of Honey's short hair, tugging at the strands to calm herself. Honey's knees begin to ache, a feeling she thinks she'll never get used to. At least she isn't made to crawl everywhere like some fancier pets she's seen. Luce always says those pets look ridiculous, and whoever their owners are must have too much time on their hands. Still, her back aches from the hunched, submissive gait she's been trained to employ.
"I see that ma'am," the man replies with careful professionalism, "but unfortunately the flight has been overbooked. We're happy to offer you a refund for the seat and a comfortable cage for your pet, and we may be able to offer upgrades to our service on the flight. But unless you agree to place it in the cargo hold, I'm sorry to report that we'll need to transfer you to another flight."
"It doesn't matter if the cage is comfortable," Luce hisses, trying to keep her voice from shaking. She can't miss this flight, and have her dad bug her about what an impulsive brat she'd been, adopting a barely trained pet so soon after getting her degree. Spending all her savings on some rescue mutt. She couldn't miss his retirement party, especially not over this. "It's cold down there. Honey has issues with her circulation. Why can't you ask someone else to move flights?"
Luce breathes out heavily and smoothes the hair she'd gripped too hard, scratching her nails over Honey's scalp in apology. A faint memory plays in Honey's usually quiet headspace: long, long wavy hair, and intricate braid patterns pulled up on a phone screen. Honey's own eyes in the mirror, younger then... Luce tugs again when the attendant sighs.
"We have asked for volunteers. Unfortunately no one has offered, and our policy is that pet seats be deferred first to make room for other patrons. And your pet's tag shows that it hasn't completed recommended trainings, beyond the basics. So we're asking you before we ask owners with more compliant pets."
Luce hears her dad's voice in those statements, and she can't argue with that. She looks to Honey, who is sat staring at Luce's sandals like they're the most interesting thing in the world.
"I- Look, I need to be on this flight. Is there anything you can do to make it... more comfortable? She's always been nervous about traveling. I just... I don't wanna traumatize her, you know?" Luce shifts the leash between her hands, trying not to think about the news she saw a few months ago - a pet dying in the cargo hold.
In reality, Luce is the one who's nervous about travel. She had imagined Honey would spend the flight beside her, warm and calm, being that comforting, familiar weight on Luce's shoulder. She wants to tell the man she needs Honey. But she isn't going to be like those annoying owners who claim their pet is for "emotional support", without any sort of training to back it up. Besides, he's looking at Honey's ID right now. She's barely trained enough to board the flight.
"We do offer a complimentary Cozy-Dose. It's a pet-safe anxiety suppressant, a little stronger than the drug store ones. Does it have anything in its system?"
"Just some pet-nip for the ride over." Said pet-nip is currently wearing off, Luce thinks, watching Honey lift her head to look directly in the attendant's eyes, her brows furrowed in that adorably vague but defiant expression. Luce presses her hand against Honey's head, pushing it down to lay still at the side of her knee.
"Should be fine," the attendant is saying. "Do you have anything you'd like to leave with her? A toy, or a blanket?"
Luce has tried to get Honey to play with toys. On Honey's best days she ignores them. On her worst, she touches them with her hands, and Luce has to discipline her accordingly. Luce knows pets don't understand the dangers of playing like humans. Often, they don't know their own strength, and can break things or hurt themselves. But it seems Honey doesn't yet know what to do with a toy otherwise, so she has yet to find one she likes.
Luce looks at Honey's thin sweater dress, the green fabric stopping just above her knee. Perfect for playing and walks in the new spring heat. Not so good for a cargo hold. She shrugs out of the pale orange flannel she wears over her tee, much to the surprise of the attendant, and drapes it over Honey's shoulders. Her pet presses her nose into the warm fabric, leaning more heavily against Luce's knee. Luce feels pride and affection well in her heart at the sight.
"Maybe she's ok without the Cozy-Dose," Luce murmurs, hesitant to drug Honey when she's being so sweet. The attendant shakes his head.
"I may have misspoken. The Cozy-Dose is complimentary, of course, but with the level of training..."
"Oh," Luce says. "Oh, okay then that's... fine. You'll probably just go to sleep, and we'll wake up at dad's house, yeah?" She coos at Honey, who doesn't bother to look up. Luce's hand finds Honey's hair again, wanting the hit of dopamine only her loving pet can provide. But before Honey can respond to the tug, the attendant is on the move.
"Alrighty. I've got it logged in our system. Again, we do apologize for this inconvenience, but we pride ourselves on our safety and pet specialists. Boarding's in about twenty minutes, so let's get Honey secure and comfy, yeah?"
Luce nods mutely, and hands over the leash.
━═━═━═━═━═━═━═━═━═━═━═━═━
Honey doesn't like being away from Luce, in a strange back room near the boarding gate. She doesn't like the "pet specialist", Carson, and she especially doesn't like that Carson removes Luce's flannel and Honey’s pretty green collar. He makes her crawl as soon as they're behind the door.
Honey wishes she had spent more effort learning the gestures Luce tried to teach her. Things like "Food" and "Water", "Bathroom" and "Bed". She heard Luce on the phone with her father once. He seemed to be yelling about Honey's adoption - Untrained stray. Irresponsible. Hopeless. Luce gave up on the lessons for a while.
If Honey could tell Carson anything right now, it would be a toss-up between how ugly his shaggy hairstyle is, and how confused and afraid she is about the whole situation.
"Up," the man says when they reach the center of the room. A table with a leathery top and a long banner of thin paper sits there. Honey gets unsteadily to her feet and climbs atop it. The crinkle of the paper beneath her reminds her of something, and she absently tears at it. Smack. Carson's hand leaves a faint red mark on her own.
Honey releases the paper and brings her hand to her mouth, looking up at the man with an indignant gaze. She fights the snarl pulling at her lip. Thankfully Carson busies himself at a computer screen, and doesn't see. Honey watches the man click the mouse and raise his eyebrows. He turns back to Honey.
"Lie down," he says, putting his hands on his hips as if he expects Honey to disobey. Honey almost scoffs. She knows how to obey a simple command. She's very obedient, in fact, despite everyone telling Luce otherwise. She eyes the orange flannel, slung over the man's shoulder, as her world tilts and she dutifully lays on her side.
Carson comes around to the head of the table, and forces Honey's other shoulder down. Honey squirms as the man positions her flat on her back, a familiar sense of vulnerability spiking in her chest.
"Why do they always give me the troublesome ones," Carson mutters, taking something from the underside of the table. Honey flinches when she feels the buttery smooth grip of a cuff on her left wrist.
"At least they gave you Broca's. I suspect you'd be a whiny thing otherwise."
Broca's? The aphasia? We learned about that in-
The moment gets away from her. Cuffs on both wrists, both ankles now. Carson is looking at her like he's surprised by her compliance. Honey pulls at the cuffs then. They're not painful, but they hold her tight. Her knees and shoulders pull together instinctually.
"Ss... Ssst-mm" Is all that comes out of her lagging mouth, before she hums a whimper instead. Don't like this. I don't like this. I don't...
"Thought so. Expensive little pooch aren'tcha? Usually they just trim the hyoid a little, but they don't like how pets choke on their food after that," Carson mumbles. More to himself, of course.
"Nice your owner could afford it. Irresponsible not to train you though," he grunts, seemingly irritated at Luce. A clinking sound comes behind her when Carson circles the table. Honey focuses on his words. Her owner... irresponsible. He sounds like Luce's father. But why would anyone be mad at Luce? Luce is wonderful. Carson still has Luce's flannel. He doesn't deserve that.
Honey tilts her chin up to look behind her, wondering if she can take it from him with her mouth. The tap-tap-tap motion of a syringe against the palm of Carson's hand meets her eyes. Honey's body tenses, and a whining starts up in her throat.
"Frank, come help me with this one," he calls when Honey begins to toss. She's trying not to, she really is trying to be good and still, but it's hard to do that when she knows what's coming next.
"Aw, poor girl," comes another man's voice. He pauses beside the table before coming closer. "Honey is it? Shh, shush now. You're okay, Honey," he says in that voice that people use with good pets. A soft emotion fills Honey's chest at the sound despite her fear. He places a firm hand on one shoulder, the other in her hair, soothing her with his thumbs as he holds her still. He presses her head to the side gently, all the time cooing in that same voice: "You're a good girl, yeah? It's scary, I know. You'll feel nice and calm in just a minute."
"Stay," Carson's voice, a jarring, commanding tone, stills her body in the way she's been trained. The impulse lasts for just long enough that the bite of a needle somewhere below her ear comes and goes without objection. Frank is there to sooth the sore spot when it's over. The cuffs are removed, and she curls to the side, a tear falling as she noses Frank's abdomen. He continues to stroke her hair, rubbing her ear between his fingers, and her thoughts calm and fade away one by one until she doesn't feel the need to cry anymore. She hums at the pleasant sensation instead.
"Fuck dude, you never cease to amaze me. Sure you don't have food in your pockets?" She hears the other man chuckle.
"Pets don't understand what's going on, man. It just needed to feel safe. We took the same courses yeah?"
"Yeah man, but I'm the one who has to strap 'em to the table and stick 'em, you get to be mister nice guy."
Frank steps away and Honey's head raises to find him. But the room is getting a little fuzzy, and the lights are too bright. Arms find hers and prop her upright before pulling her to slide to the edge of the table.
"I get my cert in a few months, so we'll see if they still like me, yeah? I'll grab the cage."

Hobie: You're in a prison cell :)
Gwen: You did great. Well, I got a 10-
Hobie: You're in a prison cell with bars on it
Pav: I got a 1!
Hobie: You're in… a cube-shaped place.
Miles: On a scale from “damn Daniel” to “fre sha vaca do”, how are you feeling?
Hobie: In between “it’s an avocado, thanks” and “how did you defeat Captain America”, but as a solid answer I would say “I don’t need a degree to be a clothing hanger”. How about you, Gwen?
Gwen: Probably “road work ahead”.
Pav: I speak many languages, and this is none of them.
Miles: Dammit, Hobie!
Hobie: What?! It wasn’t me!

Gwen, about Miles: Apparently we’re getting someone new in the group.
Hobie: Are we stealing them?
Pav: New or used?
Gwen: Wonderful responses, both of you.
Gwen: Just be yourself.
Hobie: 'Be myself'? Gwen, I have one day to win Miles over. How long did it take before you guys started liking me?
Pav: Couple weeks.
Peter: Six months.
Miguel: Jury’s still out.
Hobie: See, Gwen?
Hobie: 'Be myself'. What kind of garbage advice is that?
Miles: If you bite it and you die, it’s poisonous. If it bites you and you die, it’s venomous.
Hobie: What if it bites me and it dies?
Gwen: Then you’re poisonous. Jesus Christ, Hobie, learn to listen.
Pav: What if it bites itself and I die?
Peter: That’s voodoo.
Pav: What if it bites me and someone else dies?
Hobie: That’s correlation, not causation.
Miguel: What if we bite each other, and neither of us die?
Peter: That’s kinky.
Miles: Oh my God.
Miles: Bye Hobie! Bye Gwen! Bye Pav! Bye Peter! Bye Hobie!
Gwen: You said ‘bye Hobie’ twice.
Miles: I like Hobie~
Miles: That's it, we're gonna go out and find what we need!
Pav: To the city?
Miles: Yeah, no matter what!
Peter: Well- How exactly do you propose we do that, exactly?
Miles: I… I don't know!
Hobie: Oh come off it, be serious!
Miles: I am serious!
Hobie: You're insane!
Gwen: Why, if only we were all wiener dogs, our problems would be solved!
Everyone:
Miles: What???
Gwen: Or maybe it was a basset hound!
Hobie, panicked: YOU'RE ALL INSANE!
Miles: What did you guys get in your yearbook?
Gwen: 'Prettiest Smile'
Pav: 'Nicest Personality'
Miguel: 'Most likely to start a bar fight'
Peter: 'Least likely to start a bar fight, but most likely to win one'
Miles: Would you guys be there for me if I was going through something?
Hobie: Nope, absolutely not.
Gwen: I hope it sucks, whatever you're going through.
Pav: I hope it emotionally scars you for the rest of your life.
Peter: I hope you reach out to me so I can ignore you.
Miguel: I can't wait to go to your funeral, knowing I could've changed that outcome.
Squad reactions to being told ‘I love you’
Miles: Thanks fam!
Hobie: oh no
Gwen: cries I love you too

Daniel Ricciardo - Does Your Mother Know?
Requested: yes
Prompt: Does Your Mother Know - Abba
Warnings: mentions of a one night stand
Tumblr media
Daniel sat in the meeting room of the McLaren technology centre. He was out two days ago but couldn't shake that hungover feeling. "You'd wanna act sober Daniel, Zak is coming in soon." One of Daniel's engineers said. Daniel groaned and sat up, forcing a neutral kind of smile, hoping he came across as fully recovered. Daniel was full awake once he heard the door open and in walked the American with what looked like an assistant. "Alright, how's everyone doing today?" Zak asked in his usual chirpy voice. "A lot better today." Daniel lied. Daniel looked over to the assistant who looked like she had just seena ghost. "Who-" Daniel stopped himself from speaking further. Fuck. Surely this was a nightmare of some sort. No way she was here. "Oh sorry, I almost forgot. This is my intern for the month. She's acting as my assistant. Daniel, guys, this is Y/n Y/l/n." Y/n and Daniel stared at eachother and when they were required to look at something else, they still managed to glance eachothers way. 'This cannot be happening." Daniel thought to himself. "There is no way she is an intern here. No...fucking...way."
Daniel moved his way through the crowd, trying to make his way to the bar for another drink. His friends only brought him out so he could try get over his ex. It wasnt working. They insisted that he tried to make some moves on some girls but he wasn't feeling it. He wasn't quite ready to move on, which he thought was perfectly okay. But with how everyone was telling him he was wrong, he was starting to rethink himself. "Jack Daniels and coke." He shouted over the music. He finished the last dribble of his previous drink and set it down. "Oh come on! It's just sambuca!" He heard a girl beside him say. He turned to see a girl with four shots of sambuca and her three other friends laughing and telling her no. "We aren't drinking, Y/n. We're going back to our flats. There are these really good looking guys that want to get with us so we're not ruining this for us just so you can drink!" Daniel pulled a face at how rude they were being. "You don't ditch your mates for some dick!" The girl shouted, standing up for herself. "No? Well I'll gladly ditch you!" And with that, the other three walked away.
Daniel was confused. He's never seen such a second in his life. The girl turned back around and stared at the shots. It was like he could almost see her train of thought, whether she should down them all or chance asking for a refund. The girl then turned to him and gave a light hearted smile. "You'd hardly like to do some sambuca, would you?" Daniel chuckled and nodded out of pity. "Of course. Can't turn down free shots." She said two over to Daniel and kept two for herself. "Alright, ready?" He asked. She nodded and the two backed their shot. Daniel coughed as the sambuca tickled his throat, but when he turned over to the person he was doing the shot with, she had a straight face and ready to do the next. "Jesus, how do you not even make a face?" He asked, reluctantly grabbing his second. "I'm used to it. It just tastes like Bonjela." She insisted, clinking her glass with Daniel's. "Do you think you like it because you maybe drank too much?"
"I didn't drink too much. I never drink too much." The girl replied. The bar tender put Daniel's drink down in front of him and held out the card machine so Daniel could pay. He swiped his card along the screen and slid the bottle of coke over to her. "Drink this, it might make you feel better." He said. She shook her head and slid it back over. "Water makes you feel better. Not coke." She waited for the bar tender to come back and asked him for a glass of water which was gotten quite quickly. She started by taking sips. She'd been here way too often recently. "You're quite handsome." She said. Daniel was taken back by her sudden compliment. "Don't take it in a weird way. You don't even need take note of it. I'm probably drunk." Daniel laughed.
"You're very young, no?" He asked loudly over the music. The girl shook her head and drank the last of her whiskey. "Not at all! I'm 24!" She replied. Daniel chuckled. "Does your mother know you're out here trying to chat up drivers?" He asked. "Who says I'm trying?" Daniel let out a light hearted laugh. "There's that look in your eyes." He said. She looked confused. "What ever do you mean?" She batted her eyes. "Does your mother even know you're out?" He teases. "Im not not young."She paused. "But what mother doesn't know, won't hurt her." Daniel felt a smirk growing on his lips. "Care to dance?" She asked. Daniel looked around but couldn't see his friends anywhere. His gaze fell back onto her, before he agreed. "I can dance with you." He said. "We can do a lot more than dance." The girl tried to say it quiet enough, but Daniel had caught it. "What? You want to chat? Or we can flirt a little maybe."
Once the pair found a place to dance, Daniel pulled her in closer. "I know what you want but you seem a little young for that kinda thing." She groaned. "I'm not young. I'm old enough to know what I want and when I want it." Daniel looked at her through hooded eyes. She was driving him crazy. He couldn't bare remember the reason he was in the club in the first place, but he was more than happy to be there now. "Do you think we should go somewhere more private?" She asked. "Only if I get a name." She replied as quick as he asked. "Y/n."
"Daniel." He took her hand and led her out into the carp park at the back of the club, opening his McLaren sports car, and climbing in with her. From then on, everything was a bit of a blur.
"And that concludes our meeting." Zak announced, standing up to leave. Y/n stood up, holding her laptop into her chest and walking out quickly to avoid any further conversation with the Australian driver. Daniel caught onto this and chased after her, trying his bets to play it off as casual. His eagerness to speak to the intern earned some very confused looks from other engineers in the meeting room. "Y/n!" He called after her. "At least let me introduce myself properly this time!" Y/n spun around and looked at him blankly. "I knew you looked so familiar in the club. I knew I knew you from somewhere. I just feel so fucking dumb." Y/n said. "If it's any constellation, I feel stupid as well." Y/n arched an eyebrow. "Well I usually ask girls out first before I- well-" he paused. "You know what I'm on about." Y/n gave a light hearted chuckle and nodded. "Yeah, I get it. Ugh, this feels so weird." Y/n admitted. "It does. How about wr resplve it over lunch? Maybe dinner?"
Y/n didn't expect that but nonetheless, she played along. "Is this some half asked way of asking me out?" Daniel smiled. "Only if it worked." Y/n felt herself giggling like a school girl, leaving Daniel unsure as to what her answer really was. "I can do lunch." And so, Daniel walked to the canteen with the intern. Where will this take them? Who knows. I'm sure it can only end well though, right?
