Since her first reappearance into the F1 world at the Bahrain paddock in 2023, she has been linked with a few drivers such as the likes of Mclaren Formula 1 Driver; Lando Norris and Ferrari hotshot Charles Leclerc. Who is Yn Gasly?

The 23 year old Gasly girl is the youngest of the 5 siblings. She is currently a student at The University of Buckingham studying Marketing and Media Communications. She transferred from Universita Iulm - Communications, Media and Advertising where she had been studying the past 2 years. Her transfer to England allowed her to accompany her brother at his new Formula 1 team.

The youngest Gasly grew up alongside Charles Leclerc, Esteban Ocon and Anthoine Hubert who was her best friend. Yn has always been an avid fan of racing. She used to kart with Pierre, Charles and Anthoine. Racing was not her passion however, she was always seen in the garages of Pierre, Anthoine and Charles, cheering them on at every race. Following the lost of her bestfriend, she left the racing scene and supported Pierre and Charles from the television screen. She made a return to the paddock this season sporting the Alpine colours of Pierre’s new team.

Just learned

Just learned about the Harry Potter bakeoff show. What lovely news. The Weasley twins have turned out quite attractive. My daughters are going to love this news. Bee was obsessed with baking shows and Harry Potter for a long while there.

Now to find time to watch it. My SIL and her family are coming in Sunday. So we are all booked up for the next ten days. We are surprising the girls with a day off school to do tourist things with their cousins. We will tell them after baby boy heads out on the bus. They are going to be so excited. They are going to see Elf. So thankful for a really great SIL. She's very easy to get along with. Her kids are wonderful. All around lucky.

Book club meeting at a delicious/low key Indian restaurant tonight. We had moved to online during Covid and never went back. I much prefer the chance to get out of the house. Sending the husband to PTA meeting tmrw night. I was on the Exec board the last two years. Which meant he had the harder job of bed time alone for all three kids. I felt bad going to the meeting tmrw night since he'll be on his own tonight. Then I remembered he can go instead of me since I'm no longer on the Board. I've been slacking at doing school stuff. Def deserve a break after two years but plan to get back to after we get baby boy's school figured out.

We have a tour tmrw for an inclusion school model. 30-40% of the students are black. Every other special ed school has had maybe 2 other black students in the entire school :( This is NYC, filled with tons of diversity, having only two black kids in a school is ass backwards. Lots of different kinds of needs with gen ed kids also included. Down syndrome, physical disabilities, etc, etc. They just provide a lot of individual support for kids with extra needs. Fingers crossed the tour goes well. Its downtown- pretty far from our house. Which I hate. They will bus him but I don't like him being far away. I love that I can walk to his sisters school from work. I feel a little better that my husband works downtown so he'd be nearby if an emergency comes up.

That's the last school we plan to tour. We have a meeting with a lawyer in Mid-December to figure out how strong our case is. Fingers crossed it goes our way. Its the #1 lawyer everyone always recommends. She's known for only taking cases she can win. If she says no we have to figure out if we want to go with someone else who may be more willing to risk losing.

Right now I think we will only apply to the one 2e school with a Kindergarten and the inclusion school (assuming the tour goes well). There are other options if he does not get into one of those. They are more restrictive then I think he needs at this point.

I am also going to verify the DOE will not let him go into the Nest - Autism class (4 ASD kids 8 gen ed kids). His Neuro said it would be great for him but I'm 99% sure they won't let him without a ASD diagnosis. Why can't the DOE create the same program for ADHD kids??? I'd 10000xxxx prefer to put him in a DOE program. I do not want to go through this entire private school suing process. This is terrible. I hate every second of it. I hate the idea that some kids get fancy schools (paid for by the govt!! attended by rich kids whose parents can afford to sue) and some kids do not. It makes no sense. Its not fair. I'd take any other route available to us. I just don't see one.

At bedtime I always tell baby boy I love you so much. He's started asking "Mom, do you love me soooo much?" It melts my whole heart. I'm ready to be over the little kid/need to watch you every second stage of parenting (which is much longer for him then other kids) but I'm going to miss the cuddly baby stage so much. I'm convinced no one will every love me as much again. There's is something so complete and absolute about a mama's boy's love.

Do you respond to comments? Why/ why not?

I try to now- originally I just didn’t want to open up a work again once it’d been posted so I was awful but try to now and think fondly of commentators I recognise but it’s still not all the time. I try to comment on fics I read too (although I’m reading a bit less online now)- it’s just a nice thing to do :)

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

I left my multi chap fic on a literal cliff hanger recently so likely that! Otherwise You’re Nothing More Than His Wife as the ending is both ambiguous and depressing and just full of angsty lesbians as a whole.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

But I miss you (I’m sorry). Brocedes healed and Lewis won Silverstone there is no greater joy than that. Plus the mental image of Lewis and Vivian making Nico’s daughters costumes for The Eras Tour? I think about it A LOT.

Do you write crossovers?

I have literally written/ am writing a Hunger Games F1 AU if that counts? Otherwise I have a tennis x f1 crossover in my drafts I repeatedly come back to and will try to finish off over winter- Charles and Jannik become friends and figure out how to woo an emotional support rival over the course of the 2024 F1 and ATP seasons.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not really? One person got weirdly angry about writing Charles as a top (they switch for me in general and I was going through a bottom max phase but like I get it). Also I was told that one chapter of a fic was quite similar to a Harry Potter one but we worked it out in the comments :)

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Um. On occasion. Definitely as a way to explore characters and I wish I wrote smut better because the sections are short in comparison to the fics. I have literally gotten writers block from not liking the smut part before in premises which hinge on it being written.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Definitely not. If I had I’d say get better taste.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not other than by me! My drafts/plots are all in German first before they get written.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No but there’s a few people I bounce ideas off of and do the same in return! I am not on discord though so when you ask me about what I think about what you shared there I literally do not know 😅

What's your all-time favourite ship?

Oh wow. Probably Percabeth. For nostalgia’s sake. Or Sansa/Margeary for a similar reason.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

There’s a Charles/Lewis Ferrari one which keeps growing but then I realise I need to add more to it whenever it does grow so I’ll say that for now.

Basically Charles seduces everyone around Lewis but to levels that psychologically haunt him during a title fight. Recently Lewis walked in on a garage 16 gangbang but thought he hallucinated it after seeing Charles out for dinner with Fred at the only vegan restaurant in Maranello 10 minutes later. He runs to see Seb in Switzerland to calm down but turns out Charles is already there and eating sourdough and may or may not have had a threesome with Seb and his wife. Nico and Carlos and the fencer are involved. It’s just a bit of a wild ride.

Other than that a Carlandoscar life drawing au I gave up on when McLaren were annoying me. Oscar signs up to be a model to fulfil an art cred for engineering, Carlos is a history of art grad student and the ta, Lando is Oscar’s roommate and a graphic design student with a crush on Carlos and takes the class not expecting to see Oscar in the nude. Mark Webber is there.

What are your writing strengths?

I’ve been told themes and world building!

What are your writing weaknesses?

Time management and general clunkiness in grammar and tenses. Just your classic second language things :)

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Occasional words are fine but don’t overuse it. When it’s clunks of text it just reminds me of academic journals that go between English, Latin, Greek, German, and Italian all in 2 pages.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

I think it was Les Mis? That or The 100.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

F1 wise something involving Oscar or George as a main character or a stand-alone Sebchal rather than Sebchalmax.

Other than that I have a few tennis mini ideas and lines I just haven’t ventured there yet- f1 is more fandom to me I guess but I’d love to do Sincaraz or Igaryna properly.

What's your favourite fic you've written?

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free”. I just find it really beautiful. I took a bit of inspiration from it for my vestal virgin au that should be out during winter break and going back into a historical/artsy tone has been really nice.

so i read a fic and i can't find it for the life of me but essentially regulus barty and evan end up living with the potters and running away and the way it happened was regulus talking to effie (i think after a uidditch game??) and asking if she had any spare rooms available and she was like "ofc we do!! yo we have like 12" (or he heard the 12 from someone else idk but the 12 was THERE) and he was like "how about three?" and she was a little confused like yeah sure but why do y want three and he was like well i was hoping my friends could tag along if that's alright and she was like ofc ofc!!!

so regulus tells barty and evan and they're like holy shit we're really doing this and then the three of them go with the potters and sirius that break or summer or whatever it was and they show up in the front lawn and they're like holy shit this place is NICEEEEE (girrllllll)

BUT the potters house is MAGIC. like think encanto it listens to them and it gets james when they're ready for a tour and there's beginner curse breaker objects in evan's room for him to practice on and there's some potions stuff in regulus'.

and there was also another part in the story where fleamont catches regulus and james making out in james' room and regulus is mortified and james is like babe it's literally fine they're not gonna care. and like there's another part where like james is a virgin and shit and i think everyone was asking them when they were gonna fuck and like it just hadn't happened yet BUT THEN IT DOES HAPPEN A COUPLE CHAPTER LATER and it's like this whole thing where james tries to take it nice and sweet and slow and regulus is like girl what u doin and tries goin fast like "THIS is sex james" and james is like babe can we just try it my way this time? CAUSE it LIKE ITS HIS FIRST TIME RIGHT and regulus is like oh shit i've fucked up im so sorry and james is like no literally it's fine just trust me on this and it's nice and sweet and shit and regulus is like oh i didn't know it could be like this and james is all sweet and shit.

then they go downstairs and everyone IMMEDIATELY knows they fucked.

Interesting House Guests - A new fic but one that I had been thinking about for a long time. Sirius invites his friends to stay over at Grimmauld Place one summer. The seeds to him running away are planted.

“Oh, baby Reggie wouldn’t have anything as unseemly as muggle bathing suit models on his walls!” James exclaimed in mock horror. “No, much worse, he’s been clipping out news stories of the Death Eater weirdos and sticking them on his wall.” “Ugh,” grimaced Peter, “Why waste precious wall space with dudes wearing masks when you could have naked ladies.” “Exactly my point, Pete. Anyway, Get up,” Sirius nudged Peter with his foot.  “I haven’t finished the tour yet.”

The alchemist (Taylor’s version)

In order to reclaim Taylor’s vault, she has been using alchemy throughout the eras tour. Sometimes to reclaim what is lost you don’t find it again, you recreate it...

In a previous post I went into more detail around the wheel of the year and different pagan symbology that Taylor may be referencing within her work. Just like with Harry Potter destroying the final horcruxes, it feels like Taylor has reached the boss level of reclaiming her lost albums.

What is alchemy?

Alchemy, also known as the Magnum Opus, is the process of working with the prima materia to create the philosophers stone. The magnum opus is an artist's greatest achievement and prima materia is the philosophy attributed to Aristotle. There are many versions of this process relating to both spiritual transformation and laboratory work. The most well known example of alchemy is using base metals such as lead to create gold. On a spiritual level it's a process of reaching an enlightened consciousness.

Alchemy Taylor's Version

Taylor has told us that the stage of the eras tour is the key to the vault, but it's not just the actual stage that's involved in reclaiming her lost albums. If we consider the outfits, set designs, the big screen and the setlist we might uncover that there's more to reclaiming Taylor's past than just a lock and key.

Taylor Swift

At the very centre of the vault and rerelease process is reclaiming Taylor's past so that she can become whole again. Taylor's references to both snakes and butterflies tie into this process of transformation. The snake sheds it's skin as it continues to grow and change. And just like a caterpillar hibernates in a cocoon before emerging as a butterfly, so too will Taylor.

The two

Black and white

The release of the tortured poets department on the 19th of April 2024 started this process. This album symbolises the inner and outer conflict of Taylor's life. The black and white visual imagery of the tortured poets departments set and fortnight video reflect Taylor choosing to begin the process of coming out of the closet. This will allow the pop star persona and the true inner closeted Taylor to become one proudly queer artist.

To understand the process Taylor is going through, we need to first look at who might be influencing her journey. I've already briefly mentioned Harry Potter, but Moana and Merida are an integral piece of the the bigger picture as well.

Merida's story begins with three suitors from neighbouring kingdoms fighting to become her future husband. Merida uses her archery skills to compete for her right to choose her own fate with finding love in her own time. In the process of trying to change the prophecy, her mother gets turned into a bear. As Merida begins to mend the bond in both her family and the kingdom, she helps her mother defeat the legend of the bear that almost killed her father.

Harry Potter's story is about doing what's right despite the consequences. With the help of Ron and Hermione they learn about the philosophers stone as they embark on a journey to prevent the stone getting into the hands of lord Voldemort to stop him from using it for evil. The stone appears in Harry's pocket because he has good intentions.

Moana's story is guided by the loss and spirit of her grandmother. An evil spirit seeps into the island, poisoning the food of her family and tribe. Despite her father's wishes, Moana leaves the island and travels across the seas to return the heart of ti fiti to it's rightful place. This allows the volcanic villain to return to her true state as the peaceful goddess. Moana's calling is to find herself through exploring the seas and her fathers orders to stay at home out of fear of the dangers ahead is holding her back.

Harry's story reveals the magic behind the alchemy references in Taylor's music and the determination to do what's right above all else. We can see that Taylor is going above and beyond on the eras tour to reclaim her story, just like Merida. This is also the story we see play out in the bejewelled music video. The connection to Moana's story is more of a metaphorical process that Taylor has embarked on. The divide between the inner and outer versions of Taylor is shown with the ti fiti mountain and island imagery within the Spotify poster and karma music video.

The four

The seasons

Folklore and evermore fit into more than one category here, but for the purpose of unlocking the vault we will consider the connection to the four seasons. Taylor has highlighted that folkmore represents spring and summer, and evermore represents fall and winter. Joining the two sisters together again completed another ring within the wheel.

The six

The rainbow

The new 1989 outfits are like a rubiks cube that is getting shuffled around in order to complete all six sides. The single coloured outfits have been a highlight of the eras tour when it occurs. It's also highly anticipated that we will get a new rainbow outfit once the collection is complete.

This week we started getting new outfits added to the fearless, speak now and the tortured poets department set. These changes are revealing more of the inner Taylor underneath the pop star version. The lyrics on the tortured poets department dress changing from "I love you, it's ruining my life" to "who's afraid of little old me? You should be" is a great example. The new purple speak now dress is a reference to the queer history and the symbology surrounding the colour.

The new tiger striped dress for the fearless era is a reference to the rewilding process of rehabilitating and then returning caged animals back into the wild. This is my favourite fearless dress so far. Another perspective to consider with the tiger reference is the Peter Pan character, Tiger Lily. Her character is kidnapped by Captain Hook and rescued by Peter Pan. Taylor seems to relate to many of the Peter Pan characters. If we consider that Taylor is her own muse, we can see how she relates to the idea of saving her closeted self.

The vault

The elements

With the chart below we can also see that the two double albums, the tortured poets department and folkmore, now combine to represent the contrasting properties of colour. There's the light of summer, dark of winter, warm of spring and cool of fall/autumn. This is echoed in the second ring too, with the contrast between tint and tone of each quadrant. The colours associated with this ring also form a rainbow. And then combine both categories together in order of album release and you get the outer rings that line up with the segments of a clock.

The missing piece

All of these elements are like fragments building up to create the vault door. Reclaiming the old albums is part of what the vault symbolises, but just like in the 'I can see you' music video, the vault represents much more than that. It seems like TS12 is the final missing piece to complete the vault door and completing the eras tour will create the key required to unlock it.

I have a few theories on how to decipher this interpretation of the vault door so I will do a more in depth post about that soon.

As of The Change Constant, Sheldon and Amy have had coitus 12 times. But do we know all 12 times? 

The Shamy Coital Count: What We Know, What We Don’t, and What We Can Wildly Speculate

1. Amy’s 36th Birthday The Opening Night Excitation

Date: December 17th, 2015 Location: Amy’s bed in her apartment #314

Obviously we all know the first time. Sheldon skipped the advance screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be with Amy on her birthday, and coitus was his gift to her. It is implied that it lasted for approximately the runtime of the movie, which is 2 hours and 16 minutes. When they are done, Sheldon says he looks forward to her next birthday when they will do it again, to which Amy agrees. 

2. Amy’s 37th Birthday The Birthday Synchronicity

Date: December 17th, 2016 Location: Apartment 4B, most likely on Sheldon and Amy’s shared bed

Per their verbal agreement after their first time, Sheldon and Amy do not have coitus again until Amy’s next birthday. Sheldon wakes Amy up right at midnight for it, however they are interrupted by Bernadette going into labor. They do not end up doing it until after the birth and after returning from a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Harry Potter roleplay may or may not have been involved. 

3. Amy Leaves for Princeton The Gyroscopic Collapse

Date: May 6th, 2017 (estimated) Location: Sheldon and Amy’s shared bed in apartment 4B

Amy is offered a summer research fellowship at Princeton, and they break their rule of only having coitus on her birthday to do it once before she leaves. This is the first time we hear Sheldon refer to it as “lovemaking.” They fold their clothes neatly before they do it. Leonard, Penny, and Raj hear them going at it from out in the hallway of the apartment building. The exact date this occurs is uncertain, but if we assume the episode’s airdate of May 4th, 2017, to be the date at the start of the episode, they have coitus 2 days later on May 6th, 2017. 

4. Amy’s 38th Birthday The Celebration Reverberation

Date: December 17th, 2017 Location: Unoccupied bedroom in Howard and Bernadette’s house

Back to tradition, the next time they have coitus is on Amy’s birthday. It almost didn’t happen, as the day prior they both got food poisoning from the Little House on the Prairie-inspired frontier dinner Sheldon prepared. They were still sick that morning, but felt good enough later in the day to attend Halley’s first birthday party. At the party, while everyone else is distracted by the baby, Sheldon and Amy jump in the inflatable bounce house and then find an unoccupied bedroom for their own celebration. This is the first known time they do it as an engaged couple and the first known time they do it outside of one of their own bedrooms. 

5. Wedding Night The Bow Tie Asymmetry/The Conjugal Configuration

Date: May 12th, 2018 Location: Hotel room outside of Legoland California

Per The Athenaeum Allocation, we know Sheldon and Amy got married on May 12th. Nothing beyond the wedding ceremony is shown in The Bow Tie Asymmetry, but when we see them again in The Conjugal Configuration they are just waking up the next morning. Sheldon confirms that they consummated. Apparently Sheldon made Lego snapping sounds during the consummation. 

6. Honeymoon in New York The Conjugal Configuration

Date: May 15th, 2018 Location: Hotel room in New York City

Sheldon and Amy get into an argument over Sheldon’s need to schedule their coital encounters, and this comes to a head while they are on the Nikola Tesla tour. Later, they reach a compromise and decide that Sheldon can make a schedule and just not tell Amy about it. He plans to create an algorithm that will generate a pseudo-random schedule to accomplish this, and Amy’s explanation of why it cannot be a true random schedule excites him so much, they rush back to the hotel so she can explain it to him again naked. 

7. Three Weeks Ago The Donation Oscillation 

Date: January 19, 2019 (estimated) Location: Unknown, but most likely their shared bed in apartment 4B

When Leonard goes to apartment 4B to get away from Penny, who was trying to seduce him, Amy asks him why he is trying to avoid having sex. Sheldon, mistakingly thinking the question was directed at him, says they just did it three weeks ago. The exact date this occurred is uncertain. Based on the airdate and events of the episode, they had this conversation on February 9th, 2019. Three weeks prior would be Saturday, January 19th, 2019. 

Because this is a seemingly insignificant date, this could be one of Sheldon’s randomly scheduled sessions. It is important to note, though, that this does fall around the events of the Confirmation Polarization, where their super-asymmetry theory is proven by Drs. Pemberton and Campbell and they decide to fight them for the Nobel Prize. Perhaps they made love to celebrate that their theory got proven? Or as a physical manifestation of their commitment to either win the Nobel together or not at all? Something to think about. 

8 & 9. The Avengers Trailer The Change Constant

Date: December 7th, 2018 or March 14th, 2019 (estimated) Location: Unknown, but most likely their shared bed in apartment 4B

When Penny says Sheldon has had sex almost as many times as she has fingers, Sheldon corrects her and says it was more by two, thus bringing the grand total up to 12. He then goes on to say it was because of the Avengers trailer. The dialogue is a little ambiguous, but this implies that those two extra times are both because of the trailer. I’m going to go ahead and count them both here, because that is my interpretation and also because I think it’s funny that seemingly the first time they go two rounds is because Sheldon got too excited about a movie trailer release. 

Anyway, most likely Sheldon is referring to Avengers: Endgame, which hit theaters April 26th, 2019. The first trailer was released on December 7th, 2018, which potentially puts this prior to the previous list entry. However, considering this the events of the Change Constant take place in October 2019 (due to the Nobel ceremony taking place in December every year and this episode being set two months prior to that), it’s a little strange that Sheldon would bring up an example from so long ago. It’s possible too that it could have been the release of the second Endgame trailer on March 14, 2019, although that still is quite some time ago. (Unsure about any subsequent trailers.) Then again, perhaps Sheldon just knew that Penny was unaware of these two instances in particular, eidetic memory and all that.

So, that brings us up to 9 confirmed coital encounters. What about the other 3? 

Well, I have some suggestions . . .

10. Amy’s 39th Birthday

Date: December 17th, 2018 Location: Unknown

Although Amy was not given a birthday episode in season 12, I feel very confident in saying this was one of the missing instances. It’s their tradition, after all. In the timeline of the show, this would fall somewhere between the VCR Illumination and the Paintball Scattering, so while they’re still working on their super-asymmetry paper, before it was published. 

11. Honeymoon Round Two

Date: May 14th - May 20th 2018 (estimated) Location: Hotel room in New York City

This is less of a sure thing than Amy’s birthday, but I still think it is likely that they did it another time while away on their honeymoon. Actually, I originally was counting their arrival in New York as a confirmed coital encounter, as Sheldon says they can either make love or steam their wizard robes once the bellman leaves them alone in their room. I ended up removing it as the dialogue is just ambiguous enough that I can’t say for sure, plus when they get back from the Harry Potter play they are wearing the same clothes and the bed looks untouched. I could see Sheldon wanting to remake the bed after sex, but putting back on the same clothes that they assumedly also were traveling in earlier? In any case, if not on their arrival, I think they could have found at least one more time to do it before leaving, especially considering Sheldon originally scheduled multiple rounds for them. It’s unclear exactly how long their honeymoon was, but I assume it would be for at least a week, hence the date range. 

12. Randomly Scheduled Session

Date: Unknown but between May 21st, 2018 and early-middle October 2019 Location: Unknown

I know this isn’t terribly exciting, but the final time was likely due to the pseudo-random schedule Sheldon said he was going to create. Assuming he created one at all, it would almost have to be, as there’s only one other instance that could qualify as part of the schedule (the “three weeks ago” one discussed earlier). Clearly the dates are pretty spread out, so whatever algorithm he created must be set to generate dates at a fairly low frequency. But you could also disregard my additional honeymoon suggestion and say the remaining 2 were from the schedule. 

Other opportunities that I think are less likely but still possible:

The Nobel announcement - This could have worked except remember that the announcement came in the very early hours of the morning and then they still went to work. Would they have had time to make love and still get some sleep in? Uncertain.

Wedding anniversary - Because the last two episodes had to skip ahead in time, Sheldon and Amy’s first wedding anniversary is not mentioned, but this does seem like a likely time for them to do it. 

Valentine’s Day - They never had coitus on Valentine’s Day before but there’s no reason they couldn’t start.

Amy’s return from Princeton - Seems like a great way to welcome Amy home and get reacquainted, but I do get the impression that Sheldon was still more or less sticking to the birthday tradition at this point with only the one exception before she left.

So, now that we’ve covered all that, where do we go from here?

The Future of Shamy Coitus

Sheldon and Amy started out having sex only once a year, but the number has been increasing. Here’s the information above placed into a handy graph:

I made some executive decisions for the dates we are unsure on. For the Avengers trailer instance, I split the 2 rounds between the 2 possible dates, and for the unknown 12th time, I placed it in 2019. 

Now, this is just for the 12 times Sheldon mentioned as of October 2019. The year wasn’t over, and I personally believe they manage a few more times before it ends. In particular: 

Make up coitus when Sheldon returns to the apartment after the Change Constant

Celebratory coitus after the Nobel Prize ceremony

Amy’s 40th birthday

So here’s a new graph:

Again, this is just speculative. 

I would like to think it continues to increase for a few years, but perhaps that’s wishful thinking on my end. At the very least, I think it’s safe to say they continue the tradition of birthday coitus for Amy, and so it never drops down to zero. 

Keep in mind, we know from Young Sheldon that Sheldon and Amy have children. How this affects their sex life is hard to say. Would the count jump way up when they’re trying to conceive? Would it drop down significantly while the children are young? Would Sheldon continue using his randomly scheduled coitus algorithm once they have a family? Would they need it?

No one knows, but perhaps as new episodes of Young Sheldon continue to air, we can get a better idea. It remains to be seen. But here’s to hoping!

or 

I just keep waiting for the day when I’m not an idiot around you.

If you asked James Potter if he loved the theatre, he would answer very diplomatically that ‘yeah, it was alright’, and ‘sometimes the tunes get stuck in your head, you know’, and ‘my mother brought me up on a diet of show tunes, I can’t help that I sing them out loud sometimes, God’. 

As a matter of fact, being a naturally curious and inquisitive (and sometimes lonely) child, Euphemia Potter had enrolled her son into a summer of theatre classes in the hope that it would use up his endless energy and perhaps guide her son onto the path of acting so that she would always have some free theatre tickets. As naturally, if her son chose that path, she was sure he would succeed.

So when she was called into the theatre to ‘chat’ about James, she was surprised (yet also unsurprisingly unsurprised) to learn that James had gone AWOL for an hour, only to be found backstage watching the technical crew pull on the fly ropes for My Fair Lady – ‘accidentally mum, I swear!’ and had zero intention of retuning back to rehearsals about ‘being a tree in the ocean’ (James’ words). Euphemia Potter, being a woman of many talents, strong maternal instincts and an unprecedented prowess at sniffing out the places and things her son was interested in, managed to sweet talk the theatre into allowing her son to apprentice backstage on weekends, which lasted until he gained enough qualifications for him to earn a paid full-time technical position at the theatre.

And so, nearly 15 years later, James Potter found himself backstage during a performance of the touring production of Cats at the WNAC, having only just started the same week.

A few years ago he done a refresher training residential week and quickly became friends with an extremely tall Welsh man called Remus. They’d stayed in touch, Remus often staying at his and his best friends’ London flat whenever he was working on a production in the city, and a month ago Remus had been in touch about a technical position opening up at his venue. And James, looking for a change in life, scenery and jobs, had applied and got the job.

So here he was, backstage in the labyrinth of a new theatre, belting out Memory along with Grizabella who was singing over the tannoy.

‘Touch me’, he sang, ‘It’s so easy to leave meeee – oof!’.

Rounding a corner, James collided into something soft and firm.  Someone, he mentally corrected. Something soft and warm and -

‘You’re dangerously close to my boob right now.’

‘Oh my god’ – James jumped as though he’d been shocked and stepped back quickly, and in doing so, walked into some lockers which lined the corridor.

His curses now joining the clang of the metal and Grizabella’s voice, he could swear the silence from this stranger was louder – or maybe that was his embarrassment he could hear. Blowing through the corridor like tumble-weed.

‘That’, the woman deadpanned, ‘was either incredibly bad timing or I need to make a trip to HR’.

James cringed. He could well imagine the phone call to his mother if she found out he’d been suspended in his first week pending investigation into inappropriate conduct.

‘Oh, it was definitely incredibly bad timing.’ He closed a locker door which had swung open with the force of his hit and had come to a stop near his ear but the locker door popped open again and slowly creaked to a stop. ‘I would never -’ he cut off, embarrassed, just as Grizabella let out another cry of ‘Touch me!’

The woman laughed – prettily, he thought, before internally berating himself; ‘Not the moment, Potter!’ - and motioned to his head, which he still had a held in his hand to soothe the pain from the locker.

‘Do you actually need me to have a look? I’m a first aider.’

‘That would only honestly make this situation more embarrassing,’ James said, grimacing at the thought, before shutting the locker door again, only to hear it pop open a second time, ‘so no, I’m good. But, thanks.’ He dropped his hand, even thought his head was still smarting.

‘Um, right. Okay, well,’ she gestured past James and towards the crew room. ‘Is Remus in there? I need to have a chat about finding the WOC’s Gobo - I think they’ve definitely misplaced it but they’re looking to blame someone...’

‘Oh, good luck.’ James said wryly, ‘I’ve been trying to find him for ages. I think he’s ignoring my texts because I thought his dinner was ravioli and not tortellini and God forbid I don't know my pasta. Also, if I deviate from this path that I've learned around the building, I just know I’m going to get lost.’

She laughed again, ‘Yeah, this place is a bit of a maze, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Mind, if you’re only here for a week, maybe you need to put some chalk on the walls or something?’

‘Oh, I’m not – I work here, I’m not with Cats.’

She looked at him for a beat, and then with some confusion asked him;

‘Oh, sorry. I just thought – I mean, I could hear you down the corridor singing all the lyrics’.

James flushed and laughed awkwardly, his hand making his way back to the base of his head, willing himself to rid the redness he could feel creeping its way up his neck.

‘It’s my mum’s favourite musical so..’ he trailed off, trying to laugh through a smile, which in hindsight, surely made him look even more bizzare.

‘Right.’ She said, and when the silence almost got too painful she added; ‘Um, well, I better get – I’ll just teams Rem...’ before starting to walk away.

And for some reason, some strange reason which made him question his sanity for the next 12 hours straight and sporadically for a good few days later, he saluted and called after her;

‘Cool, okay, well, bye. And sorry for almost touching your boob. I honestly wouldn’t - well, I mean, you do have nice boobs - not that I’ve looked! Or touched! God. Sorry.’ And with a final note of desperation he added, ‘Bye’. Then he turned around and promptly walked straight back into the locker door.

He could’ve sworn he saw a second bail of tumble weed blowing past in his mind’s eye. Along with an actual trickle of blood with passed his eye from the now angry looking cut above the eye socket.

Ten minutes later, patched up and with a first aid form sheepishly all filled out, he finally located Remus, and accosted him with a nonchalant (or so he thought), ‘Remus, who’s the woman that works here with ginger hair?’

Remus, put down his fork of butternut squash macaroni and said, ‘That’d be Lily Evans, Front of House and she’s not going to HR.’

‘How do you know?’ James cried and sunk into a chair in mortification.

Future Snippet for Body of a Lion, Soul of a Snake.

(This might get changed a bit but here’s the gist)

“So Harry how was your summer?” Hermione asked, clearly trying to hold back anger.

Harry looking at her confused, “With my family, why? Also how was your summer?”

“It was great until my book collection vanished.” Hermione barely holding back a snarl.

Harry was showing concern, “What happened to your books? I know you love reading.”

Ron before Hermione could say anything starts screaming, “You filthy liar, you stole from us! You took our rightfully earned money. You also stole Hermione’s books!” Ron screamed loud enough to get everyone’s attention in the great hall; interrupting the first year’s sorting.

Looks were all aimed towards the group of Gryffindor’s.

Harry looked tired, “I did not steal from you. I can prove it with the records of my vaults. If anyone would be the thieves it would be you.”

McGonagall made a noise to redirect everyone’s attention back to the sorting.

After all the first years were sorted McGonagall made an announcement. “Usually this doesn’t happen but as some events unfolded this summer, there is a third year who needs to be sorted.”

“Prince-Black, Hadrian.” With that Harry drops his glamour and waltzes up to the hat. Silence swept across the hall.

Hadrian now determined, “You were right the first time; I’m not fighting you this time.”

“SLYTHERIN!”

Claps are heard throughout the hall; Draco and the other heirs louder than others. Sev gave his son a smile.

Ron starts having a fit. “No this cannot be happening! You need to be in Gryffindor, and you need to stop with this Hadrian act. Also the tube for sympathy, take that out!” This gasps heard from many.

Severus is quick to his feet to comfort his child. Hadrian now angry at the accusations and his attitude. “You know what no; I’m not someone you can just continue to use and insult. If you were nice I would have let it slide but no you choose to be rude and show everyone who you are.”

A deep breath then Hadrian says it. “Ronald Billius No Name you are now an enemy of the House’s of Peverell, Le Fay, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Black, Gaunt, Prince, and Potter.” Silence once again out of shock. To be an enemy of so many houses and three of the Hogwarts houses. It was unheard of.

From the silence a voice was heard; it came from the Hufflepuff table. “Ronald Billius No Name you are now an enemy of the House’s of Hufflepuff and Bones.” Susan Bones declared.

Ron now an enemy of all four Hogwarts houses, nobody knew what to do. The castle listening to its heirs though, showing the charter to McGonagall.

With a look of acceptance as well as disappointment; McGonagall made the announcement. “As the Hogwarts Charter states, a student may not be a student at Hogwarts if they are an enemy of all four Houses. So as the rules of the charter, Ronald Billius No Name your admissions at Hogwarts has been rescinded. Your trunk will be waiting for you at the gate and an owl will be sent to your parents or guardians to have them pick you up from the Hogwarts station.”

Hadrian who had started dissociating after he declared Ron an enemy. Severus’ attention became solely on Hade. With Severus being unable to get Hade even a little bit grounded he destroyed his reputation of being cold and held his son while announcements were said.

Once they were done, we told his Prefects to give a tour and show the first years around. Also letting him know his usual first day announcements would be held off till the next day.

Severus had taken Hadrian out of the Hall and to his quarters. Once the two were safely away in his quarters, he starts working towards grounding Hade. Going off the knowledge he learned from Reg and his experience. He first summoned to ice cubes and placed them in Hade’s hands to see if that could help.

Still Not Over It

A/N: when I am writing this it's August 1st. And I am going to confess a few things right here and right now. 

I joined the Harry Styles train in March. (Until then I just didn't get the whole obsession with him)

I originally joined Tumblr to read Draco Malfoy smut, but I started searching Harry Potter and well… 'Snacks and Sex' by the one and only @watchmegetobsessed popped up and I read it. From that moment, I was hooked. I read all of Dory's fics, then I found @gurugirl , @fkinavocado , @freedomfireflies , @finelinevogue , and @lukesaprince . (Just to name a few) {So thank you to every author of a Harry styles fic, I've read too many to keep them straight. And I love all of you}

I started writing a few of my normal chapter fics, and just realized they weren't cutting it. So I decided to switch it up and I wrote "the shower incident" (By this point all of my coworkers would've liked it if I could shut up about Harry Styles. But for obvious reasons, I just couldn't.)

I started to get stressed out at work, and was having a really shitty day in the front of store at where I work, when 'Grapejuice' started playing on the mall speakers, I went from being ready to quit the job I love to dancing in the store while fixing a display. So thanks Harry, for not letting me do something I would regret. 

I was stressed at work (again, it happens a lot in my position), I had been working there for a bit, and still didn't understand why none of his songs played in the store. I was ready for a break from people, and a break from the store itself when next thing I knew, Canyon Moon played for the first time ever in that store. My coworkers laughed when I started jumping up and down almost bursting with excitement "AND I'M STILL THINKING BACK TO, OUR TIME UNDER THE CANYON MOON!" "ITS HARRY!" "GUYS SHUT UP, HARRY STYLES IS ON" became a few things that now get joked about constantly. I'm belting these out right along with him and I still dance around the store when his songs play. ( So again, thank you Harry!)

Still Not Over It

"H, I'm still not over it." You cry into your boyfriend's shoulder. Love On Tour has been over for close to two weeks now and you still cry everyday. Harry misses it too. 

"I know baby love, I know, I'm not over it yet either." He answers you and just holds you.

"So unend it, tell everyone that you were just taking a little rest, and schedule ten more years of lot, because I'm not over it, you're not over it, and they're not over it. "Oh shut it H," you say, quickly changing your tone, before reaching out to slap him playfully.

"And now we're being a brat. Guess I'll have to have Mean Me fix it." He replies commandingly before picking you up, throwing you over his shoulder and marching upstairs to your shared bedroom.

You give him a few slaps on his rear, smiling to yourself.

"Ey, quit it back there, or I'll have to paint your little bottom red with my handprints." He adds.

Hey, Marta! I have no hp related to say except that whatever's going on hogwarts legacy seems to be just romancing sad white boys and nothing on plot or whatever, disappointing. (Which is fine on fics and romance centered stories, but so far I heard no one complementing or even commenting on the story.)

I think a lot of these media/game developers think they can simply rely on the brand Harry Potter and just spew any half assed stories with the cover of 'ohh spells and references'. I don't even have nostalgia for anything and it makes me sad to see it watered down to the technicalities of the world and not the story that lies in its core.

But capitalism I guess.

Anyway, I took so long to listen to Eat Your Young and oh my, what a bop! Why does Hozier use such a sexy voice to sing the horrors??? I truly hadn't heard him in interview in a while so when I heard Through Me, I got whiplash. While Scottish still my darling accent, Normal People gave me an appreciation for Irish accent.

I’m gonna be honest, I’m actively not following information on Hogwarts Legacy, so I can’t really comment on that. I have a vague idea about the plot thanks to my friend who’s more interested in it, but she also said that the story is rather bleak overall. So... there’s that, I guess. But as I said, I don’t know enough to give my opinion.

That being said, I do want to comment on your thought about “abusing” the HP brand because… yeah, that’s true. Well, sort of. Because, for example, I still believe that HPHM wasn’t just about that at the very beginning. I do think that Matt London and his team created this story with some level of passion. Were they also hoping for easy money? Yeah, probably. But it seems that they cared about something more, too. Sadly, at this point, HPHM became what you’re describing: a half assed story with the cover of 'ohh spells and references'. And I hate to say it, but I also think that the fans are partially responsible for that.

I mean, I remember seeing people being like: “Oh I can’t wait when HPMA/HL comes out, so I can leave this shitty game (HPHM)”. And I was always like… You don’t HAVE TO play this game if you don’t enjoy it. I feel like this mentality was actually quite common at some point, especially on Reddit, at least when I was still checking it. But personally, I just don’t get it. You might still like HP without interacting with every single title in the franchise.

But that also brings me to your second thought: capitalism. Because honestly, it’s not just the problem of the HP brand. Let’s take The Sims, for example. People are complaining for years that TS4 is lacking even now when we have dozens of DLCs. There are many new bugs with each pack and many old bugs that needs to be fixed. But it doesn’t matter for EA because they know that people will still buy the next new pack. Why? Because of the brand. And because The Sims has no real competition, at least yet.

Another example: Apple. Personally, I don’t use Apple products so I won’t comment on their quality. But I remember when people talked about the new iPhone without a headphone jack. Again, I don’t know if it actually influenced the quality of a phone in a meaningful way, but it’s rather hard to not see it as a mechanism forcing people to buy wireless headphones. And again, Apple knows they can do that because people will still want to have the iPhone.

So, yeah. Capitalism.

Seriously, I love this song! I can’t help it but sway to it every time I hear it. Though I totally feel you – it is absolutely morbid! But it’s that clash that makes it so strong. By the way, my favourite part has to be:

Back in 2019, Hozier was performing on his tour one of his unreleased songs, But The Wages (which many suspects will be on the new full album). And in one video of this song, he said: “If you’re not making the right people uncomfortable you might be wasting your time as a musician”. I feel it’s basically gonna be a subtitle of Unreal Unearth.

And finally: YES, HIS ACCENT! 😄 I’d say I’m quite familiar with it as I listened to some interviews fairly recently (there was Blood Upon Snow not so long ago and now the new EP), but yes! The Irish accent is very lovely! :3

And I write Normal People down as another title to look into because I did hear about it, but I never paid more attention to it.

I don't often ever really talk about these things but like, does anyone else have MAJOR franchise fatigue?

Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, HARRY FUCKING POTTER

I am so done with them all.

I'm gonna rant about Harry Potter for a bit. Fair warning.

I got tired of Harry Potter well over 10 years ago. The final movies hadn't even been released and because I have the disadvantage of living in bloody England Harry Potter bullshit has been EVERYWHERE for TWO FUCKING DECADES. I remember my friend dragging me to the studio tour because she got tickets for her bday. I like movie BTS stuff but my god the amount of BUY THIS BUY THAT that gets shoved in your face drove me mad. Proud to say that other than the OG books I read when I was a teenager I have never owned a single bit of HP merchandise in my LIFE. It took my irl friends bullying me to finally go on pottermore and get sorted into a Hogwarts house when I was 27. TWENTYSEVEN. I resisted for years!! I don't even care. They sat me down and made me log on to that stupid website and take the stupid quiz whilst I raised an eyebrow the whole time and tried to smile and pretend it was fun. After all, I'm not actually a total bitch and they are my friends and were enjoying themselves and I didn't wanna upset them. But why do I need to know if I'm a hufflepuff or whatever? Oh thats right, so I can buy the appropriate MERCHANDISE.

You know real witches make their wands? They go out and find a tree and ask the tree if they can take a branch, you have to give the tree something back and say a blessing. You can add crystals or ribbon or whatever you want but a wand is NOT something you buy in a bloody shop. I hate that HP made kids think that.

Why would anyone wanna buy a game about a nearly 3 decade old franchise thats been shoved in all our faces practically our whole lives (if you are a millennial or younger). Im not a gamer anyway so I don't get the appeal but even without all the transphobia and antisemitism involved the whole concept is extremely tiresome to me.

Can we please be done with Harry Potter now??? I dont wanna see it. I dont wanna see anything about it. I didnt give a fuck when I was in my early twenties and I dont give a fuck now in my late thirties its never been any fucking good. Its a rip off of Lord of the rings crossed with the writing of Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman anyway.

For years I felt awkward even mentioning to people that I didnt like Harry Potter, like it was a cardinal sin or something. I'm glad people are finally seeing it for what it truly it, even though I wish it didnt take the lives and rights of transpeople to get to this point. Its disgusting that its still so damn popular even WITH JKRs blatant transphobia. I hope the boycotts work. Trans and Jewish people you have my love and support, for both your sakes and so that bloody franchise can stop being shoved in my face everytime I leave the bloody house. Im glad people are finally picking it apart and realising how problematic it was. Things I think made me uncomfortable about it before I really understood the depth of reasons why.

I have been obsessed with witchcraft and paganism since I was a child. I was a weird kid. Harry Potter turned something I was passionate about in a deeply personal way into a consumerist nightmare. Witch became synonymous with it, spells, charms, magic, I'm honestly surprised JKR didnt try to copyright the terms.

Look I dont often talk about social issues. My tumblr is my escape from the injustices of the world and I take my mental health very seriously. But I support trans and jewish people in boycotting this game.

I care about trans rights, about the rights of LGBTQA+ people. The rise of antisemitism AGAIN deeply disturbs me. People truly never learn from history do they? I try to do my bit where I can offline. I have signed petitions, I have donated to causes where I have found them and I am most definitely gonna do my damndest to get everyone I know to vote the transphobic (and otherwise generally evil in every way) Tory government OUT at the next election.

This rant may come across a bit selfish. It is tbh. I am fucking glad Harry Potter isnt popular anymore. Though outside of online communities particularly in the UK its still huge and everywhere. I wish we could wipe it off the face of the Earth.

I am fed up of all these franchises though. If I never have to sit through another Marvel movie it'll be a happy day. If I never have to hear the fucking Star Wars theme again I'll celebrate, if I never have to read about another Disney remake again Ill be so relieved (although I do get some satisfaction reading about them flopping). This post capitalism hellscape we exist in is fucking exhausting.

What we really need to do with these franchises though is pull an Avatar on them (the blue people not the cool cartoon). We need to stop talking about them. Stop letting them infect our collective cultural consciousness. The only way to get them out of our faces is to actually let them die. We did it right with Fantastic Beasts. We can do it again. Remember that in capitalism, even negative press is good press, and the more the press focuses on the controversies and discourse, the more the name of the game is getting into the minds of consumers, especially those that dont give a fuck about trans rights or antisemitism.

I dont know where it ends, but my god I hope it HAS an end. Something surely has got to give right? Anyways. I dunno if there was a point to this rant other than im fed up of a lot of things and feeling particularly grumpy today, but anyways. Boycott Harry Potter and all things related to it.

123 students on a trip?!😱😱😱

How do you manage to write while planning something like this?! I saw that you were planning to update a story today... How do you make time available for everything?!

I know! It sounds like a daunting prospect, does it not? I know a lot of people - fellow teachers included - who find it quite stressful. For me, weirdly enough, it's not so much. I've planned everything, I've booked all events/activities (including a trip to the Harry Potter Studio Tour, which is self-indulgent as well as fun for them) and I know I've done all I could to make it a successful trip. Everything on the trip itself... that is where we have to improvise, where I will work my hardest to make everyone feel happy, safe and comfortable. I think it's an odd juxtaposition: I always want to have control, but I am completely at ease relinquishing some of it when I'm on a trip with my students. There is only so much you can control, after all, when you're with your pupils. They surprise you all the time - in good ways and sometimes bad! (Also, seeing as I adore The Marauders, I think you can guess that I have a soft spot for those who make merry mischief.) But I am patient, I think. Just before the holiday, the students had to complete surveys about their teachers and I scored a near perfect score when it came to patience. (A huge compliment, I find!) But how do I write while doing all of this? I think I've learned in the past year that I need to make time for myself. I didn't for a long time for a myriad of reasons: my mum's passing, my grief, my worries over my family/friends, my studies, my first job as a teacher and then being asked to join school management... but I am in a much more healthy and stable place (mentally) now that I do again. There are so many stories in my mind, so many bits of dialogue... they just need to get out. So, when I finish work for the day - and this can be early or late evening - I will always write something. It can be just one or two paragraphs, sometimes it's a 1000 words or more. I think I've just come to the realisation that I'm my happiest self when I do.

So, yeah... yesterday I worked really hard all day, but I did that knowing that I would have time to write today! And... yeah... now back to no body, no crime. Sorry to bore you with my life's story perhaps. Whoops!

Following my office tour from yesterday, and my fanbinding adventure from Thursday, I figured I'd show y'all my extra space and another fanbinding update!

It's just outside of my office area. By my shoe rack because we really are running out of space 😂

On Friday, my partner placed an order for the bulk of my binding needs! Plus: the Cricut Joy! It might be a teensy bit too small for what I wanted it for, but we'll see if I can make do. Even if not, it's still a neat thing to have!

Most of what he ordered came in yesterday, but there are a few more items coming in within the next few days! Nothing worth showing off, but all the supplies are in that blue bin!

So with that: it was time to get my first big project ready! And thus the main source of this update, which is "silly mistakes." And was mostly me screwing around in Scrivener and Adobe with vague ideas because I'm stubborn and like to figure things out on my own. 🙄

What I learned is: I need to figure out a setting for viewing pages in Scrivener. Which I'm fairly sure is doable. And in the meantime do this sorta work in Google Docs.

There were 2 main sources of trouble I believe. The first being: this is a bigger project than the 2 small test prints previous, and so more room to find trouble areas. The second being...I exported the projects differently 🫣 In my defense, the setting I printed my test runs in was "paperback" and I realized yesterday that...that needs to be setup, or else it exports "default." So I went with "default."

Turns out: there are differences between "default" and "paperback" but it was such a relatively small detail compared to others, that it wasn't immediately apparent. As in: I spent all night fixing other problems and got to the end, thinking myself a champion, only to realize: the text here is way too small. Like tiny.

Before this, I'd had to shift a few things between pages (not fun), add blank pages (which screwed up my page numbering), and spent way too much time trying to figure out how to fix the page numbering before I realized: I have to manually update the page numbers, because all I can do in Adobe is fix how the pages are labelled in Adobe. And it was after all that I realized my text size issue.

I'm not sure how or why because Adobe tells me the text is the same font and size as I had it in Scrivener. But the "paperback" export option 100% will print bigger. Someone more familiar with all of this than me is probably laughing but oh well.

Also did I mention I only noticed this after printing all of my signatures?

Yeah.

I was checking that other issues had been fixed. And the way the text printed is as tiny as it looks in Scrivener. And I originally shrank the text in Scrivener because of previous test prints. 😒

Scrivener is great for writing, but not for fanbinding apparently. Or maybe it's fine and I just need to know what the heck I'm doing haha.

Anyway, basically I exported from Scrivener into a PDF like 20 times yesterday adjusting various issues in Scrivener. Then played around in Adobe Acrobat for hours. And even then, I still had to renumber my pages again. Manually. But I finished that this morning! By like 5 AM because I wake up absurdly early.

Which means: I can print today! Maybe I'll even stitch the signatures together, that way I can focus on new skills once all my other supplies come in!

My next step will probably be to learn whether I can use the Cricut for foiling the way I wanted, but I have to wait for my foil transfer kit to come in. Once I know whether I can or not, I'll be able to move onto the rest!

Also, like, why do I have to work this week when I have a new hobby to learn?? 😭

Bonus: the painting I have above my printer!

My mom, sister, and I did some paint class thing together a few years ago. We were all painting a "street lamp in New Orleans." I wanted to give the street a Harry Potter-esque name, but my brain came up with "Blood Dr." and I'm still to this day giggling about it. It also amuses me how gloomy and morbid it is against the brightly colored backdrop.
