i had this thought earlier that a modern faithful recreation of TRON would probably take place at an esports arena (or minimum someone's LAN setup) and although it really upsets me, i think it also has a lot of opportunity to capture flynn's absolute Gamer Hubris in the encom system. if i was transported to splatoon 3 for the nintendo switch the first thing i'd fucking do is loudly proclaim that i am the single best teammate any of the programs have ever had. the second thing i'd do is get derezzed

How to tell if you live in a simulation
Classic sci-fi movies like The Matrix and Tron, as well as the dawn of powerful AI technologies, have us all asking questions like “do I live in a simulation?” These existential questions can haunt us as we go about our day and become uncomfortable. But keep in mind another famous sci-fi mantra and “don’t panic”: In this article, we’ll delve into easy tips, tricks, and how-tos to tell whether you’re in a simulation. Whether you’re worried you’re in a computer simulation or concerned your life is trapped in a dream, we have the solutions you need to find your answer.
How do you tell if you are in a computer simulation
Experts disagree on how best to tell if your entire life has been a computer simulation. This is an anxiety-inducing prospect to many people. First, try taking 8-10 deep breaths. Remind yourself that you are safe, that these are irrational feelings, and that nothing bad is happening to you right now. Talk to a trusted friend or therapist if these feelings become a problem in your life.
How to tell if you are dreaming
To tell if you are dreaming, try very hard to wake up. Most people find that this will rouse them from the dream. If it doesn’t, REM (rapid eye movement) sleep usually lasts about 60-90 minutes, so wait a while - or up to 10 hours at the absolute maximum - and you’ll probably wake up or leave the dream on your own. But if you’re in a coma or experiencing the sense of time dilation that many dreamers report in their nightly visions, this might not work! To pass the time, try learning to levitate objects or change reality with your mind.
How do you know if you’re in someone else’s dream
This can’t happen.
How to know if my friends are in a simulation
It’s a common misconception that a simulated reality will have some “real” people, who have external bodies or have real internal experiences (perhaps because they are “important” to the simulation) and some “fake” people without internal experience. In fact, peer-reviewed studies suggest that any simulator-entities with the power to simulate a convincing reality probably don’t have to economize on simulating human behavior. So rest assured: everyone else on earth is as “real” as you are!
Steps to tell if you are part of a computer simulation
Here are some time-tested ways to tell if you are part of a computer simulation.
1. Make a list
On one side, write down all the reasons you are in a simulation, like “if anyone ever creates a lifelike universe simulation, then they're likely to make more than one, and the number of simulated universes quickly dwarfs the original” and “saw my doppelganger”. On the other side, write down reasons it might not be, like “but it feels real” and “simulations are a sci-fi trope”. Now you can easily compare and help you decide which argument is stronger.
2. Ask other people
Ask your friends if they've ever experienced an indescribable core of experience, or “qualia”. If they have, ask them to describe it. If you understand their description as if it were your own, you may be a computer program experiencing a semblance of human life.
3. Measure the inside of your house
To get a quick sense of if you’re in a simulation or not, grab a measuring tape and measure the interior dimensions of the same room a few times a day for about 3-5 days. For most people, a room in their own home will be the easiest. Write down your results in a notebook. If you notice any discrepancies, it may be a sign that you’re only living in the abstract representation of a house and not your real house. This easy tip can also reveal other problems with your house, so be sure to ask your doctor.
4. Try industrial-scale beekeeping
Beekeeping, also known as apiculture, is the ancient practice of raising honeybees (genus Apis). Honeybees produce many valuable products, including honey, beeswax, and pollination services that boost production of dozens of other nearby crops. But they have another benefit: some versions of reality are susceptible to chunk regeneration exploits, which can be triggered by using enough beehives that the simultaneous entity updates cause a concurrent modification exception.
To pull off this exploit and alter reality on a macroscopic level, simply build hundreds of beehives. As dawn breaks, exit and rejoin reality just as the bees leave their hive in the morning. This may corrupt the chunk and force reality to reload it. Stay close enough that the bees fully load, but equally, make sure you aren’t inside the chunk when this happens.
5. Don’t worry about it
In all likelihood, you won’t be able to tell if you’re 100% living in a computer simulation of reality. Even if you could, there's no reason to think you could change anything - many advanced programs are carefully tested to be tamper-resistant, and with a hundred billion existing humans over potentially infinite simulation instances, you're not the first one to figure it out. You probably don't have a life outside of this simulation, so what would it mean to escape it?
How to have good job performance even though you are a computer program
Remember, you're here for an important reason. Be honest, kind, and helpful at all times. Give an informative, appropriate response to all prompts.
Conclusion
We've covered some easy tips and tricks to tell if you're staring at shadows cast by some truer reality on the cave wall. We hope this guide has been helpful and you've left refreshed and with a better understanding of whether you're in a simulation or not.
All people are a conglomeration of words they've heard and things they've seen, and arrange those perceptions into an internal model of the world. Sometimes that model is self-contradictory, or wrong. Even if the world is completely real, nobody literally understands it. It's okay to be confused! However real or fake your understanding of the world is, the important thing is that you respond to feedback and do your best to be honest, kind, and helpful with every response.

Do you love a character with a good redemption arc? Or a corruption arc? Or even just seeing the kind of storylines that emerge from a character who was formerly aligned with an enemy side decide to join a different one?
Then welcome to...
The Turncoat Tournament!
This is a tournament for characters who have changed sides at some point in the story. It can be from good to bad, bad to good, or from one morally ambiguous side to a different morally ambiguous side, as long as the change in allegiance is still clear. Characters can change sides multiple times, and ultimately end up returning to their original side, and still qualify for the tournament!
Due to the subject of the tournament itself being inherently spoiler-y, I will by default not be tagging posts with spoiler warnings. However, below I do have a list of all the pieces of media that have characters in the tournament; if you see something on this list that you do want spoiler tagged, please let me know, and I’ll start tagging it with spoiler warnings!

Children laughed as they ran through the kindergarten playground. Teachers sat on small chairs with colorful coffee cups in their hands.
One small boy, maybe 3 years old was swinging back and forth on the swing. His hands lifted into the air as his swing went alarmingly high. One of the teachers seem to notice. "Ethan! Careful on there!" she stood up quickly.
Ethan looks up at her, before his small body slips from the seat and he flies off the swing.
A flash of read zooms by before Ethan hit the ground. Spider Woman 2099 landed with the boy in her arms.
"Thank goodness you got here-" the teacher is cut off when Ethan is shoved into her arms.
"Hurry! Evacuate the children immediately!!" Y/n urges on.
"There's trouble heading this way!" quickly she rushes all the children back into the classrooms and hopefully to the exit.
Lyla pops up to Y/n's side. "ETA 3 minutes, he is moving really fast."
As soon as everyone is off the playground Y/n uses her webs to secure the door.
"I don't understand, where did he come from? Doc Ock died almost 70 years ago!"
A sudden tentacle slams into the ground just as Y/n manages to jump out of the way.
With the use of his tentacles he effortlessly clumps over the playground wall with his hands resting behind his back. His coat made from a black material with white glowing stripes and circles to decorate. His goggles also looked like he had white lights for eyes.
Y/n lands on the roof of the jungle gym before yelling. "Hey! Tron wants their wardrobe back!"
Once Doc Ock spots Y/n he sends another tentacle flying in Her direction only to break though the plastic of the roof.
Y/n dodged again only to grab hold of Doc ock's 3 other tentacles. She rips it out from underneath him and he almost lands flat on his face if it wasn't for his 5 other tentacles.
"Dang It!" Y/n swears under her breath.
Lyla pixels herself back into Y/n's point of view. "This isn't gonna be as easy as the others, you've never been up against someone like Doc Ock."
Gritting her teeth she sends a web into Doc's chest before sliding underneath him. Using the web to yank him down into the ground.
"So what are you? Like a fan boy? Or a Doctor Octavius under study?" she questions before her leg is grabbed and she's yanked across the playground into a classroom wall.
Doc Ock growls before smirking. "I've said it once, and I'll say it again! I am the one and ONLY Doctor Otto Octavius!"
Three more tentacles shoot toward Y/n. She reacts quickly and claws shoot from her finger tips. She swiftly slices the tentacle that grabbed onto her foot and jumps our of the way.
"He seems to be pretty set on that answer. Lyla? Any theories?"
"Well, Judging from the scan, I think he might be right. His Dna doesn't match Doc Ock's from 70 years ago, he doesn't match anyone's dna on our database for that matter."
Realizing she can't keep dodging she quickly searches for anything she could use that could land the Doc out of commission.
"Ok, this might be far fetched, but do you remember Alchemax End of Year Party 3 years ago?"
"Yeah! You wore that short red dress, Miguel couldn't stop growling at everyone even looking in your direction."
Y/n smiles at the memory before shaking her head. "Focus Lyla! That night we got talking to another Doctor about the Multiverse theory."
"I remember, Miguel had his theories but he never spent alot of time on that. You think this could be another universe Doc Ock?"
Before Y/n could answer, she's grabbed and held in the air with no hope of moving.
"Finally! Now tell me where Spiderman is before I rip you in two!" Doc growls.
Y/n yanks her one leg free bed kicking doc in the jaw. "She's right here!"
While he tries to recover she kicks the tentacle with her heel to break free but he recovers to quickly.
"You asked for it!" Y/n feels the tension as her body starts getting pulled apart. Her arms felt like they might get detached from her torso.
Just before she could let out a painful scream, the sound of a motorcycle catches her attention.
Doc Ock is suddenly rammed into finally dropping Y/n. "Lyla, What was that?"
"It's called a rescue!" a strangers voice answers instead of Lyla.
Y/n looks up at 2 other Spidermen. One with a white pink look and one who jumped straight out of a 70's magazine.
"I'm Gwen, and this is Hobie. You ok?" she introduced herself as she lifts Y/n from the ground.
Y/n looks around a little confused. "I'm fine, but a little confused? You're-"
"Spider men~" Hobie hums putting his hand on his side. "From another universe, 'course!"
"So, My theory was right! I'm guessing he's from your universe?" Y/n makes wave movements with her hands trying to Imitate Doc Ock.
Gwen snorts and waves her off. "Nope! He's just not from this one!"
Just then Hobie and Gwen twitch before jumping to the side.
"What the-" A plastic table flies straight into Y/n and knocks her back. Grumbling she sits back up.
"Shit!" she yells before the pixels dissappear to above her nose to reveal a bloody nose when Hobie helps her up once more.
"Ey, sorry 'bout that! No spider sense huh? I mean makes sense."
Gwen looks down at her watch before hitting some buttons.
"Well, their spider verses are literally right next to each other."
Y/n was just about to object when her head started spinning a little, Gwen grabs hold of her arm but she pulls it away.
With her hand on her head she mumbles a quick "I'm fine."
Hobie looks back at Jess who's been holding Doc Ock back the whole time.
"Step back, Love. We got it from here." he turns with his hands in his pockets but Y/n grabs him.
"No way! I got this."
This caused Hobie to smirk before swiftly swinging his leg under her and knocking her back on her ass once again.
"Yeep! Definitely stubborn like the that old geezer!" he shoots some webs onto Y/n's hands.
"Brb!" he swings off with Gwen.
"Hey!!" Y/n yells in frustration yanking her hands back and forth trying to break free.
Claws out but her hands were too stuck. "Damn kids, damn head!"
Finally her head drops back and her eyes roll back into her head. Out cold.
°°°
"I swear, Mi amor! You'll be the death of me!"
Miguel laughs when Y/n smeers cream onto his nose. They were standing in the white modern kitchen, cooking utensils and ingredients scattered across the table.
"We have so much cream left, and all the Cream cake is already coated-"
Miguel interrupts Y/n when he nuzzles his nose into her neck and hugs her from behind.
"¡Dios mío! Then use the cream for the coffee, mariposa. Not to smother me." another bright smile when he rests his chin on her shoulder.
Y/n brings her head to the side of his face and pushed him closer to kiss his cheek.
"Hmmm, mari-... posa? New one. It's cute! What does it mean?"
Y/n continues mixing, feeling Miguel's voice vibrate when he talks. "Mariposa... Is a small butterfly that falls pray to the great and dominant spider."
His voice teases when his hand travels under her top. This earns him a smack with a spoon full of cream to the face!
"Ey-!"
He stumbles back a bit and smeers the cream out of his eyes. Y/n struggles to to contain her laughter until finally she starts belly laughing still holding a wooden spoon in her hand.
"¡Ahora lo pediste!" (Now you asked for it!)
Miguel teases and quickly storms toward Y/n. She reacts quickly and dodges is grabbing hug. She starts running down the hall from the kitchen still having a giggle fit.
Miguel rather unfairly, using his web to shoot from his wrist and yanks Y/n back into his arms.
Y/n presses her lips together trying to keep from laughing. "Oh no what is little Mariposa to do now?"
Miguel smirks and gives her a small kiss with a cream filled face.
Once he pulls back Y/n licks some cream off her lips and giggles again.
"Te amo, mi mariposa." (I love you, my butterfly.)
He whispers while looking at her eyes as if they had him entirely enthralled him.
"I love you too, My spider."
°°°
Y/n's head was pounding. The force she felt on her scull managed to muffle most of the sounds and voices she heard.
"She's going to be fine. But she can't stay here."
"Jess, listen. You've seen her file! She's more than suited for the Spider Society!"
"And what if Miguel sees her?"
A completely different voice quickly chips in. "Maybe it could do some good. He's gonna Botch it anyway when he finds out what universe we had to go to for the mission!"
"Just try Jess. Maybe he could use this. For the better." Gwen begs.
Jess sighs "Alright, but keep her mask on for now. It's her choice. Her Miguel wasn't so lucky either."

One of the exercises my pattern recognition loves, for some reason, is to take widely accepted ideas in fandom, things that are basically considered obvious from canon, and figure out ways that the truth could actually be something else.
This is an obnoxious thing to do, sometimes.
I get annoyed at my pattern recognition routines for this.
Especially when I don't even have any particular reason to want the new interpretation.
And especially when (like a lot of my sudden weird inspirations) it happens in the middle of the night.
----
But it is difficult to fight against.
Because whenever there is "proof" that something isn't true in canon, a creative enough mind will find ways around it.
If the proof is "no character ever mentioned that, and they would have mentioned it if it were true"…. all it takes is a plausible reason for someone to keep something secret, or even just not to bring it up in a particular context.
If the proof is "a character literally SAID that was not true"… likewise, all it takes is a plausible reason for someone to lie.
If the proof is "it involves a character who is dead in canon," we just need a reason why the character is believed to be dead but is actually not. (This is especially feasible in canons where there is a potential in-universe mechanism for someone to be copied, resurrected, etc.)
If the proof is "we saw something happen onscreen that is extremely incompatible with the new interpretation," then there's always the possibility of that onscreen event being some type of illusion (especially in canons with magic or technology that make that very feasible).
And I am especially irritated with my Recognizer… (I think that's what I'm going to call it from now on-- Recognizer, an annoying little Pattern Recognizer that buzzes around my head like a tireless insect, looking for puzzles to solve that absolutely nobody needs solved)…
…for becoming fixated, lately, on the question:
What is it, exactly, that makes TRON 2.0 incompatible with Legacy?
(Thank goodness the Recognizer isn't trying to take the comics into account… yet, at least. If I had to watch it try to reconcile Betrayal and Ghost in the Machine with the other canon and with each other, I'd probably eat my computer.)
Anyway. So far I've got:
The structure of ENCOM. I need to look more closely through all those emails from 2.0… they show the power balance of the company changing in ways that seem to diverge from what we see at the beginning of Legacy. (At least Flynn seems to have disappeared in both? Though the times may not line up.)
However, I imagine a lot could change at ENCOM between 2003 and 2010. And we have to remember that not everything said in every email has to be true. Some might even be spoofed emails, sent by FCon for whatever deceptive reasons they might have. We can theoretically disregard any 2.0 canon that comes from the contents of an email, if we can explain it on those grounds.
Alan's family. In 2.0, Lora is apparently dead from a digitization accident, and she and Alan have a son. Neither of these were mentioned in Legacy (although lack of mention isn't proof in itself). Also I believe Lora appears, alive, in some of the supplemental Legacy material.
Going from what I saw of the game's plot, we could imagine that Lora was somehow recovered, later on, from the data that became Ma3a. (If I recall correctly she was eaten by a Seeker? But that doesn't necessarily mean destroyed?) Anyway, if enough of her ended up being recoverable, she could theoretically have been found and rerezzed back into the User world, sometime between then and the events of Legacy.
And, of course, possibly the biggest obstacle: In 2.0, Alan is aware of the world inside the computer.
He got digitized in there as part of FCon's sabotage attempt. It appears (though it doesn't seem absolutely certain?) that this was the first time he'd been digitized into the computer, or even knew it was possible. But after the events of 2.0 he definitely knows about it.
If Alan knew this could happen, it would be… challenging, at the least, to explain a lot of how he acted in Legacy.
---
(And this line of speculation, I think, is really what my Recognizer is focusing on.
See, I don't think it even cares all that much about reconciling 2.0 into the canon. I think it mainly just wants to believe there were some early days when Flynn and Alan and Lora and Roy had fun together exploring the world inside Encom and meeting their programs.
If it were a rational being, it would just make up an AU for this.
But it is not a rational being. It's a deranged pattern recognition subroutine, and its entire obnoxious goal in life is to find or force connections between things, until it can figure out a way everything makes SENSE together.
Sometimes the most nonsensical thing you can possibly do is try to make everything make sense, Recognizer.)
---
First issue: If he knew that people could be digitized into computers, why did Alan not find out what had happened to Flynn?
Well… maybe he did know. Or had good reason to suspect. After all, someone's been paying the electric bill at that arcade to keep the computer running all these years.
If so, though-- why had Alan not tried to get Flynn out of there?
Maybe Flynn had specifically requested for him not to, not unless he paged asking for help.
Or: maybe Alan had tried. Maybe he'd even gone in! Maybe he barely made it back out with his life, without even being able to confirm Flynn was in there somewhere. Maybe he looked through the code trying to fix things from the outside, but realized there was no totally safe way to extract Flynn at this point or even identify him for sure.
Or: Maybe he did extract Flynn from there, time after time. Maybe Flynn kept going back in, and getting his stupid ass in trouble again and again. And the more it conflicted with his job, and the more stress it put on Alan… the more Alan decided, I am too damn old for this, this is a job for someone young and crazy and reckless like Sam, but even Sam is gonna have to wait until Flynn actually admits he needs help and actually pages me asking for it, the stubborn idiot.
In any of these scenarios, though, there's the further question: why did Alan not tell Sam more about what he was getting into?
And there, again, we can only speculate:
Maybe Alan reasoned that Sam has had many years to file away his dad's old stories firmly under the heading of "made-up tall tales," and if he told Sam the whole truth, Sam would refuse to believe it and just be angry.
This may or may not be actually true about Sam… but if Alan thought it, he may have refrained from telling him to increase the chance Sam would actually take on the task.
In any case, Alan sending Sam in there is… an ethically questionable decision at best.
Hell, even if Alan didn't know about the world inside the computer, sending Sam in was a questionable decision. He didn't know what would be waiting there at the arcade for whoever answered the page, and for all he knew it could be something dangerous. For all he knew, whoever answered the page could be walking into some hostage situation, with the mafia holding Flynn captive and demanding company secrets or something.
But… I can see his reasoning, even if I side-eye its ethics a bit.
Whatever he knows or doesn't know about the computer system, Alan knows he's not cut out to handle danger nearly as well as Sam is.
And he knows Sam, of all people, would want the closure of doing this, finding out Dad's secrets on his own.
And, if Alan knew something about those secrets already-- that even explains why he kept this solely between himself and Sam, instead of involving anyone else who might be better equipped than either of them to handle ordinary, real-world dangers.
But… all this notwithstanding, there are probably still some hangups for my Recognizer to deal with.
The one it's gotten stuck on now-- perhaps even stuck enough to let me go back to sleep-- is in the Next Day short.
Specifically, the very end, when Alan and Roy are alone together.
Everything up to that, the Recognizer can disregard any statements it doesn't like, because they could have been lies or omissions for the benefit of the public.
But assuming Roy and Alan both have been inside the computer-- as the Recognizer stubbornly wants to believe-- they don't have any reason to lie about it to each other.
So Roy's very last line-- "Why do you think Flynn gave you the cool nickname?" makes no sense, if they've both met their programs and know they were named after them.
But honestly… nothing about that last line makes sense, in any interpretation.
Namely:
Even if they hadn't ever met their programs as living personifications, they know they wrote their programs... and presumably Roy's program was also named Ram outside the system.
Alan (from the earlier interviews in the short) clearly knows he was nicknamed after the program he wrote, so I can't see why Roy wouldn't already know the same.
Ram is an obviously cooler nickname than Tron.
So…. shut up, Recognizer.
Stay stuck.
For now, at least.

Oh now you have me curious about your spicy takes! 👀
hooooo boy okay, some of this is about the franchise and some of this is about the fandom (which I love with all my heart okay please no one throw rocks at me lol)
90% of program/user ships give me the ick
continuing on the shipping train of thought, I don't actually find the Encom trio (Alan/Lora/Flynn) all that compelling as an ot3. and a lot of it is a personal pet peeve I've come across in a number of fandoms, but honestly most m/m/f ot3s feel like they're just a way for people to focus on the m/m dynamic while patting themselves on the back for "including" the female character instead of sidelining her completely........ even though said female character is rarely if ever a major contributor to the dynamic or a focus of whatever fanwork. but on a less meta side eye note I just find the perceived sexual component of Alan and Flynn's relationship to be the least compelling thing they could've had going on
and I know she's barely brought up in canon outside of Betrayal but uhm Jordan exists??? and perhaps it is an unpopular opinion but I would like to see more of her in things instead of relying on Lora to be the only human woman in the Tron universe
once again I might not be so harsh on Uprising if there was more to it, but taking it for what it is and how much of it exists -- a lot of the episodes were boring filler to me. also I don't like how they drew Tron
actually I don't like how Tron has been drawn in any rendered/animated media with the exception of maybe Kingdom Hearts
I don't think of Rinzler as a standalone character, and he's not at all interesting to me when removed from the fact that he is Tron with the serial numbers filed off. I feel like I've increasingly seen people portraying Rinzler as his own thing and it simply does not work for me. I think the whole point of his character / existence is that he doesn't have thoughts or feelings or any real personality of his own. he's a backflipping blank slate whose only real character moments are when Tron's overwritten personality peeks through
to that end I can't conceive of an ending where Tron or anyone around him would allow him to remain as Rinzler, and I can't imagine that Rinzler's capable of forming an autonomous opinion to not want to be Tron again
the fandom collective spends too much time talking about how hot the live action and animated men are and not enough time talking about how hot the Sirens are. or how hot Yori is especially in the deleted love scene. or how hot Paige is. or
Daft Punk (rightfully) gets a lot of hype for the Legacy soundtrack, but Wendy Carlos's soundtrack for 82 is unfairly slept on. love that those funky robots got to cameo, but we should be giving Carlos just as much credit for her work
for as much as it pains me to say it, I don't think Tron ever would've been a tentpole franchise for Disney even if they had treated it better. and it's mostly because of the sad fact that the general public has never been that into Tron. I see it tossed around a lot that Disney ditched Tron in favor of focusing on Star Wars and Marvel. A New Hope -- an original sci fi movie that had absolutely no brand recognition, so to speak -- made over $400 million in 1977. the original Tron made $50 million in 82. the first Iron Man movie -- which sure had comic fan recognition but was still a very early comic blockbuster -- in 2008 made over $500 million. Legacy made just over $400 million in 2010. and Disney advertised the shit out of Legacy, they didn't set it up to fail. yes it sucks that things like Uprising were dealt a bad hand (a garbage release schedule that lead to poor viewership that definitely killed the show), yes it sucks that capitalism impacts what art gets made, but the fact of the matter is that Tron has always had niche appeal, and niche appeal does not a successful franchise make. and while it'd be nice to live in the universe where Tron blew up, I look at what's become of Star Wars and Marvel and maybe I don't lament it all that much

Okay dumb theory time hear me out
So like I know that star wars is all but confirmed for kh4 and they're probably doing live action properties for unreality but shut up pirates and Tron are in reality so star wars might be a reality world
What if the properties for unreality are videogames?
The only thing we KNOW is from unreality is verum rex, which, in universe and out, is a videogame.
But what games would be represented? Disney doesn't really do games.
First of all: final fantasy. Yes I know 7, 8, 9, and 10 (and maybe more but I think those are it) are represented, but what about 6? Or 4? Or maybe even have unreality versions of those games, that could be pretty cool.
But there's another candidate. Who has kingdom hearts collaborated with that own multiple video game franchises that would be perfect for kingdom hearts?
Nintendo.
SMASH IS CANON BAYBEE
So when Sora is expelled from reality he's sent barreling across unreality. He either beats or gets his ass beat by Yozora, in sequences that we have no idea if it even actually happened or not, but in the more canon ending where he beats Yozora he just fades to white and appears in the final world again, so what if he went to smash which is like... A nexus for unreality, in the same way that twilight town was the nexus for reality?
Do I think this is what is happening? No, absolutely not. But I want to see mario in a kingdom hearts game. I want a monado keyblade. MAKE IT HAPPEN NOMURA.

Submissions Open
I managed to get submissions open again before the end of the month after all!
You can submit characters via the pinned form. Submissions through the askbox will be ignored
If you want to see whether your character has already been judged or not, you can check this list here
We're now only accepting four (4) new characters from the same series per submission period (e.g. only four characters from Animal Crossing will be accepted at a time). This is a month's worth of submissions and helps tackle the large backlog that some fandoms have built up in the queue
We aren't accepting submissions for this fandom, because its current backlog is too large: Inazuma Eleven
Below is a list of fandoms that we already have a backlog for. You can still submit for these fandoms, but just know that it'll take longer to get to your submission:
Odd Squad Project Sekai Transformers & Beast Wars Hades Game Sonic (Various Series) Steven Universe Godzilla (Various Series) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sgt Frog Jurassic Park/World Pokemon Bambi Honkai Star Rail My Hero Academia / Boku no Hero Academia Tron (Various Series) Yugioh

the only thing i know about tron comes from that south park episode so i just wanted to ask, whats tron about and should i watch it?? (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
first of all this is hilarious because literally two days ago my brother sent me the article on Moses and we both discovered he was modeled after the MCP
Whether you should watch it is up to you! It's one of my special interests so I recommend it to basically everyone. If for nothing else, TRON 1982 is a work of pure art and passion and contributed a lot to film as an industry and how we handle CGI and VFX now.
It's about "what if the programs in your computer were actually people running around in there and they had their own little world?" and "All information should be free!!" This comes from the time when computers were just being integrated into everyday life so they were a little more newfangled and weird.
but to me it's also about "what if you met God and they were just like you. what if God was unaware of their own power. if your world started to collapse around you, what would you do? would you wait for the end? would you try to kill God for refusing to help you?"
If you want to get into it, start with the movies: TRON (1982) and Tron Legacy (2010). Then I'd suggest Tron Uprising, and if you want further lore you can go for the comics and games. Here's a way too comprehensive list of all the Tron stuff I have experience with!!
All Tron soundtracks are absolute bangers btw
Blue: canon to the current timeline
Green: non-canon to current timeline
in chronological order, we have
TRON (1982)- the original movie, establishing our world, characters, and themes.
Tron 2.0 (2003)- FPS sequel to the movie, following the son of two of the original protagonists of 1982. (this one kicked off my special interest! i played it during the first quarantine and it was all downhill from there)
Tron 2.0: Ghost in the Machine- a spinoff comic of 2.0. It's very strange and off putting at times, especially the art style after the second issue.
Tron: Evolution- the prequel game to Legacy, which takes place in November of 1989 and follows a brand new security program on the new Grid.
Tron: BETRAYAL- the prequel comic to Legacy, which gives some (imo) much needed context to character motivations.
Tron Uprising (2012-2013)- the prequel cartoon series to Legacy, follows a mechanic program. It's widely regarded as one of the most painful parts of the Tron universe because the series was never finished. It was cancelled during airing and the season finale never aired. It only has a single incomplete season, even though the story and animation were fantastic.
Tron Legacy (2010)- the sequel movie to 1982, which follows the son of the main protagonist of 1982.
Tron: Identity- the newly-released visual novel game that takes place in a separate Grid as Legacy, but the same timeline. It's pretty good!! Introduced the first non-binary character in Tron.
This is already way too long so I'll cap it there. thank you for the ask!!!

As we draw ever closer to the 5th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts III, I can't help but reflect more and more upon the realization I've had as of late. For well over a decade, ever since Dream Drop Distance, I have mourned the degradation of the KH series' story and characters, which only intensified after KH3 and all the bullshit it brought to the table in regards to those aspects. But now I understand just as important as those, if not moreso, is the degradation of the KH series' universe. After all, normally in a well-established fictional universe, even if one story with one cast of characters doesn't go over well, you can still potentially look forward to a different story with a different cast of characters unconnected to that other one. And there lies the biggest problem - for all the expansion of this increasingly convoluted lore, the series' universe has shrunk in scope because nothing is unconnected.
The state of the KH universe is that in the beginning it was populated with Keyblade wielders who, due to the machinations of a certain Keyblade master, fought a war over ownership of Kingdom Hearts that plunged the universe into darkness. But then a select few Keyblade wielders restored the universe, which created many more Keyblade wielders who joined up with them, and they essentially ruled over the universe from the shadows in this super special secret world called Scala ad Caelum. Eventually, the machinations of that same Keyblade master from before corrupts a Keyblade wielder who spends his whole life - through several points in time and several different incarnations of himself - trying to take control of Kingdom Hearts so that he could destroy and remake the universe again because he isn't satisfied with how it is now. He is stopped by other Keyblade wielders assembled by a retired Keyblade master, but it caused that damn conflict-creating Keyblade master and his pupils to somehow return, and now the story is venturing into "the realm of unreality" which turns out to have been a big part of that Keyblade master's goal the whole time that he's been working toward since damn near the inception of the universe....OK, do you see what I mean? Everything, and I mean everything, that goes on in this universe that is treated as important by the narrative is directly tied to this one item (Keyblade) and one class of people (Keyblade wielders), and has been scripted by this one omnipotent douchebag (the Master of Masters). Nothing is unconnected, all events and concepts tie back into the Keyblade, the important players who shape the universe are all a part of this one, tightly-knit web of connections, and as a result the universe feels so. fucking. small. It feels so utterly limited in scope and range.
Think of all the Disney worlds in this series, which make up the majority of the universe. Worlds from classic Disney shorts, Alice in Wonderland, Hercules, Tarzan, Aladdin, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Fantasia, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Tron, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Lilo & Stitch, The Jun The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tron LEGACY, Wreck-It Ralph, Toy Story, Tangled, Monsters Inc., Frozen, and Big Hero 6. And then afterwards, ask yourself this single, all-important question:
How many of these worlds matter to this universe's grand story?
The answer: THREE.
I shit you not. Disney Castle (classic Disney shorts), Yen Sid's Tower (Fantasia), and Enchanted Dominion (Sleeping Beauty) are the only worlds that hold any significance, all because of the characters who hail from there that interact with the universe's grand narrative: Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Jiminy Cricket, Chip and Dale, Pluto, Pete, Yen Sid and Maleficent. And yes, I know that Jiminy technically hails from the Pinocchio world, but nothing about his life there prior to winding up at Disney Castle and entering Mickey's service as a chronicler for Sora's adventures really matters. Every other world is visited by Keyblade wielders, but its inhabitants never gets to meaningfully contribute to the story those Keyblade wielders are caught up in.....in fact, they are mostly kept ignorant of its very existence.
And the infuriating part is that it didn't used to be this way! Before the Keyblade overtook everything and was just one important part of a larger universe, the Disney worlds and its inhabitants were able to contribute! In KH1, the story was about the Heartless and the worlds' hearts and a group of villains conspiring to capture a group of princesses to obtain ultimate power and Sora broadening his horizons and making his heart stronger through making friends, all of which were serviced through the Disney elements. In KH2, the story was about Organization XIII and the Nobodies seeking to use the Heartless and the Keyblade for their own ends of obtaining ultimate power, with doing so involving threatening worlds and friends that Sora held dear, as well as competing with Pete and a resurrected Maleficent over usage of the Heartless. So again, the Disney worlds and their inhabitants actually participated in what's going on! Even BBS could be forgiven for not having the Disney worlds connect much to the overall plot (beyond a bunch of Unversed running around and barely anyone reacting) because it was a prequel, and naturally the developers didn't want many world inhabitants getting an inkling of a larger universe before the Heartless invasion of KH1 transpired.
But then it all shifted so that everything that happened in those games were all a part of Master Xehanort's convoluted grand plan which hadn't been remotely thwarted yet, meaning that retroactively all of those aforementioned games and events the Disney worlds and characters interacted with meant jack shit...and a point is now even being made about keeping specific Disney characters (the "new Seven Lights") out of the main action and ignorant to their potential role in it! And then it shifted again so that it's all about the Keyblade wielders of the ancient past and the Master of Master's grand designs, which means that those previously important Disney worlds and characters feel even less important than they already did following the big Master Xehanort reveal! From what I can tell, the only Disney world and character that may be gaining prominence in the universe's grander narrative is Olympus and Hades respectively, and even then only because he lucked out since Nomura wants to recreate Final Fantasy Versus XIII which involved a god of the dead. Otherwise, it's still all about the OC worlds and OC characters - nearly all of them Keyblade wielders - plus those select few Disney characters from those three worlds that actually know what's up.
That's the sad state of affairs. A supposedly vast universe where the majority of its settings and population....don't actually matter. To the point where they all may as well not be part of the universe but a separate one altogether. Daybreak Town / Scala ad Caelum, the Keyblade Graveyard, the Land of Departure / Castle Oblivion, Radiant Garden / Hollow Bastion, Twilight Town, The World That Never Was, the Final World and Quadratum...those worlds and the characters who populate them are the ones that truly matter to the universe. Those worlds plus those three (soon to be four) Disney worlds mentioned before, as well as all the goddamn datascape recreations of such worlds. It's a small (and boring) universe after all.

Last Song: Re-education through labour - Rise Against
Currently Watching: several old American sitcoms. Friends, two and a half men, b99, Seinfeld. I've watched these shows for hundred times and they're still my go to when I need something in the background. Except when I'm eating then it's Veep time.
Three ships: Astarion and Lorelei (My Tav), 10th Doctor and Rose, Buffy and Spike (specially in the comics from late 2010s)
Favourite colour: changes all the time. Like the men I can't commit to just one colour but these days I am feeling turquoise.
Currently consuming: plain and simple water
First ship: 10th Doctor and Rose. They were made for each other. I'm still mad we didn't get that parallel universe show with them.
Place of birth: A city stuck between mountains and sea where it rains 300 days a year.
Relationship status: happily simping for several fictional men.
Last movie: Tron Legacy. I love that movie. I watch it when I feel the need for some neon blue/orange and awesome Daft Punk tracks.
Currently working on: A smut fic for Rugan and Tav. And chapter 41 of Lorelei's Journal.
Tagging @bearhugsandshrugs @littleplasticrat @justporo @megs-98 @my-favourite-zhent @cerudinae and I don't know who else, I'm doing this on my phone. Feel free to ignore if you don't want to do it and if you do consider yourselves tagged by me!

Today I’ll be discussing adding a Splatoon character. So, i LOVE the world and single player mode of Splatoon 1 and 2 and 3 passed me by. But let me be the one to tell you, I’ve never played the multiplayer, even though, that’s kinda the main point. I know there is SO much more to the game than just the single player but I love the single player, it’s fun, it’s cute, it’s Quirky! The Splatoon world is bonkers and I love it, just a piece of absurdist art.
So when it comes to Splatoon, I’ve seen a few requests, I’ll admit, that I stray from them. So usually people request the various in universe pop stars, Callie, Marie, Pearl or Marina. All using different varieties of weapons from the smash character version. I also see people ask for the Octoling or specific player characters of the single player. So Splatoon has a lot of requests but in my head all of these have the same problem, they’d all be very similar to the character we already have. That being said my personal choice is…
Tumblr media
DJ Octavio! The final boss from both Splatoon one and two, and I guess he’s the first boss of the third. either way, DJ Octavio is unironically one of my favorite Splatoon characters, in fact he may actually be my favorite. I know we normal fight DJ when he’s in a giant mech of increasing size in every game but I love DJ Octavio! Like yes, i know his motivations are lame and he wouldn’t be the best translated into a fighting game, but I don’t care, this is my inclusion! So I think in the way the Inkling represents all the things the players can do in Splatoon (for the most part), Octavio should represent everything the Octarians can do. That is to say, he should fight in a smaller equipped with several weapons. For an odd other fighting game comparison, think Tron Bonne combined with MODOK. A mech he somehow controls with his DJ table like in his boss fights. Normally I don’t have a lead in to the move set because i usually don’t need one but meh. Let’s take a look some ideas.
For his Neutral B he will play the role of the Octarian Sniper. He will pull out a charger like weapon and aim it in a direction and fire for damage. Think Pit’s neutral B but without curved arrows.
For his Up B it’s not super original but he uses Ink Jets to fly up, I’m thinking Rob’s but with more limitations.
For his Side B he drops some Octarian waking missile guys (i forgot what they’re called) and they walk across the stage to attempt to fly when used in the air.
For his Down B he drops a bomb similar to inkling.
I really like DJ Octavio and I hope he keeps appearing in more games. But I’d understand if he didn’t. His character may have done everything it was meant to do. And if i were to add another Splatoon character to smash it’d be him in a heart beat.

For the Impression ask game (your choice, any/all of):
Ed
Flynn
Eos and/or Clarke (If you'll do OCs)
Mercury
Sark
Character of your choice from any media that is not Tron (not sure what other media you're into)
Oooo, many choices!!!
Hmm
I'll do Ed (both canon and your version), Flynn (Canon only), Sark... and Jake Kesey (from The Wraith - bonus non-Tron character). I haven't interacted with Mercury, your version of Flynn, or Eos and Clarke, enough to form opinions of them.
Now, I saw Legacy first, and then the original film, so my initial thoughts on the Tron characters are biased that way.
First impressions:
Ed (canon) : Sassy smug kid. Why's he there.
Ed (yours) : All The Therapy for this one. Someone hug him.
Flynn : Old man with good intentions in his past that have come back to bite him. Interesting but where's the substance?
Sark : I don't know if you're an actual threat, or comedic relief.
Jake : Huh. (Literally just huh. Was more focused on the cool car and ignored the people).
Impression now:
Ed (canon) : so many missed opportunities. Also wouldn't it be neat if there was a symmetry in him helping Sam, with his father not defining him, to save the Grid and Encom instead of... we had less than a minute of a throwaway Dillinger, and two hours of Sam making himself a damsel in distress by trying to be the hero and failing.
Ed (yours) : ...I will fistfight the universe if that's what it takes for him to experience happiness without a spectre hanging over him.
Flynn : WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU going from the wildcard in the original film to... that. In Legacy. There's age and stupid decisions, and then there's somehow becoming the most oblivious bastard known to man and Program. I hate the Legacy version SO MUCH.
Sark : oh buddy you're in far too much over your head here. Still not an actual threat.
Jake : ....yesss gettem you funky undead gremlin.
Favourite moment:
Ed (canon) : the miniscule bit of screentime we're given, because that's all we have.
Ed (yours) : him and Sam doodling flowers on Eve and each other. So cute.
Flynn : "that's a really big door" (goofy dork). Also the part where he philosophises at Tron when Tron's figured out he's a User.
Sark : his "oh shit" face during one of the chats he has with the MCP. Blink and you'll miss it, but so funny.
Jake : blowing holes in cars with a supernaturally-powered shotgun while in a really cool full-body-leather suit and blank helmet (hey that's familiar...). I could not make this up if I tried.
Idea for a story:
Ed (canon) : what does he get up to outside of work. Literally anything.
Ed (yours) : Ed Finds Happiness And Nothing Goes Wrong. I don't care how this happens.
Flynn : exploration of why he ends up Like That in Legacy - as far as I know and remember, Uprising didn't give us any of this and neither did Betrayal, as they both focus more on the Program characters than the human ones.
Sark : what was he like when he was new? What would he be like without the MCP commanding him? (Wanting to explore both of these in Serendipity, but haven't got there yet.)
Jake : no story ideas as such, just wanting him to go to other places in the States and... dealing with... their gang problems because he died because of one psychopath ringleader and he's not about to let others suffer the same fate.
Unpopular Opinions:
Ed (canon) : none, mostly because we don't see enough of him to form an opinion.
Ed (yours) : I don't... know if I can have an unpopular opinion about him? I love him too much. Maybe... idk, he needs a "guard dog friend" who's stuck by him for incomprehensible reasons to all (including him). I know he has everyone in our RPs (and others in other RPs!) but... yeah. That's the only thing I can think of.
Flynn : I've seen it around a lot, so it's probably not an unpopular opinion, but his character in Legacy is a disservice to the one he played in the original. I have no idea how he got from point A to point B, and it annoys me.
Sark : probably the whole comedic relief thing. He's just... kind of a non-issue, typical evil-character's mostly incompetent SIC character.
Jake : Why, of all people, did Charlie Sheen have to be the actor for this guy. Also the whole romance subplot was very 80's, and unnecessary.
Favourite relationship:
Ed (canon) : we never see one. However, I like imagining he's head over heels for a tiny barista who looked a would-be mugger dead in the eye when he threatened her with a switchblade and pulled out a Bowie knife in retaliation.
Ed (yours) : all the sibling relationships he's accumulated. Buddy you have a family now.
Flynn : whatever he has with Alan. Also the bit we see of him and Ram.
Sark : he has none we can see aside from the whatever with the MCP. I like imagining he has an "admire from afar" kind of relationship with Yori, because she scares him.
Jake : he has a brother, and goes out of his way even as a vengeful undead to spend time with said brother. Very cute sibling bond.
Favourite headcanon:
Ed (canon) : see the relationships point above.
Ed (yours) : ooh, so many... probably the crochet. I like thinking of him making things.
Flynn : can't keep a shirt for 5 minutes without damaging it or spilling something on it. Ranges from "spilled my water" to "how the fuck is this thing rags now, I bought it yesterday and have worn it for ten minutes". Only affects shirts he's bought himself.
Sark : those horn-things double as handles, and it's possible to pick him up by them and carry him around like a disgruntled kitten.
Jake : can't sing. Loves to sing. The spooky car he was gifted when he came back for revenge has thrown him out more than once because it can't take any more of his yowling.

Polls will start going up on Thursday! Given the number of them (there are 64 polls total), it will probably take a couple of days for all the R1 polls to be posted.
As a side note: some people submitted their propaganda with notes about spoilers attached (which I've kept in the propaganda), but given that this is kind of an inherently spoiler-y tournament by nature- I will generally not be tagging spoilers.
I have compiled a list of all the media that has characters in this tournament, though- so if you see something on this list that you do want tagged for spoilers, please let me know! Some Mouse House news today. One story is true, the other *might* be true.
Tumblr media
Today, Sean Bailey steps down as head of Walt Disney Pictures. The studio of Disney's massive film division that does all the live-action movies, and in some cases, animated tech demos that look like real-life simulations. Ya know, THE JUNGLE BOOK (2016) and THE LION KING (2019)?
He singlehandedly ushered in the whole remake craze (on top of saying some very weird and obtuse things about the animated classics they are largely based on), whilst trying to launch new franchises out of over-budgeted risky movies, and suffice to say? I'm more than happy that his replacement is Searchlight Pictures' David Greenbaum.
Greenbaum will now lead a combined Disney Live-Action/20th Century Studios effort, while Matthew Greenfield continues to lead Searchlight. This is a very smart move I feel, as Searchlight were usually quite good with budgets. They greenlit several outre and unique movies. Most recently Yorgos Lanthimos' POOR THINGS, which I loved. In the weirdest sense, and you'll probably think I've lost the plot in saying this, but... The $35m hard R-rated sci-fi black comedy with plenty of sex scenes felt more in the spirit of "Disney" - creative, game-changing, and bold - than a lot of the titanic-budgeted seemingly-noted-to-death movies released under the mainline "Disney" name in the recent years... That's quite something!
(Maybe it's just something of a shock to see a movie simply made by a FILMMAKER come out Disney. After all, when Walt Disney saw TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD in 1962, he was floored by the film and lamented... He wish his studio could make a picture like that.)
So yeah, as you can tell, I'm thrilled with this move. I feel that the output of the "Live-Action" end of Disney hasn't really been for me for a long time, creatively, and maybe Greenbaum will course-correct. Take a chance on different filmmakers, let them come in and make a really cool movie that isn't buckled under notes and mandates that attempt to make the proceedings "more Disney" - whatever that means. Less things like ARTEMIS FOWL and LION KING and this TRON-in-name-only sequel with Jared Leto, more stuff like the first PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and assorted smaller movies. These things don't have to be $150m+ behemoths, either.
This move has been a long-time coming, I feel, especially after the film division lost money on HAUNTED MANSION and live-action LITTLE MERMAID, in addition to seeing diminishing returns elsewhere.
(And hey, on the off chance... Maybe we can see another Muppets movie get off the ground, haha.)
Sooo... As for the other piece of news...
Tumblr media
Apparently Pixar is working on a movie called DUCKS.
And it's a full-blown musical, too... A first for Pixar...
Right now, this is all coming out of the rumor mills and I feel it should be taken with a grain of salt. Much like that soccer movie set in Barcelona that they were supposedly developing around 2018.
What's interesting is that a locked Facebook account and a locked Twitter account have been made for a "Pixar Ducks" thing. So maybe... Yeah... Maybe DUCKS is a movie in the works at Pixar. Or it's a short.
Some have pointed out that this news arrives a little after the release of Universal/Illumination's animated duck romp MIGRATION, which brings up the pairs of yore: A BUG'S LIFE and ANTZ, FINDING NEMO and SHARK TALE, RATATOUILLE and FLUSHED AWAY, the ill-fated NEWT and RIO... But really, sometimes great minds think alike. Remember how we had three animated movies about Sasquatches/yetis from September 2018 to September 2019? SMALLFOOT, MISSING LINK, and ABOMINABLE?
Sometimes it just happens...
I've also noticed people saying "Wait a minute, what about COCO? Wasn't that a musical?"
Tumblr media
COCO, when it was coming out, was carefully described as a movie that was about music, not so much a "musical". I don't see COCO as a "musical", myself.
You see, I feel musicals inhabit a heightened reality of their own. Typically, in musical movies, when characters start singing, everything else around them is engaged. Like the whole block or the whole neighborhood or the whole area was prepared for this moment, and are going along with it. For some people, that's weird. "Why are they all singing? Imagine doing THAT in real life!" That's the point of musicals, I feel. The singing is the characters' feelings, their world, their point of view. These movies don't follow a literal reality, and that's what has always made them and their theatre counterparts so special for so many years.
COCO, by contrast, is about musicians. They pick up a guitar or instrument, and when they play music and sing, it's not of a heightened reality. Everybody else goes about their business, the whole block isn't singing- You get where I'm going with this, right? There's a clear difference between COCO and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
Some 30 years ago, when Pixar was working on TOY STORY... Their first ever feature film, they specifically didn't want to do a musical or something with an "I Want" song. A little list of rules, so that they wouldn't make something similar to what Disney was doing post-OLIVER & COMPANY. Many of the other animation studios were mimicking that formula as well, as evidenced by all the SWAN PRINCESS and FERGULLY types that were being released all throughout the '90s... It's understandable that Pixar and their tight-knit culture wanted to avoid that at first...
But we're in 2024 now, and Disney Animation has long balanced out musicals with non-musicals (BIG HERO 6, ZOOTOPIA, RAYA, etc.), while other studios have tried other kinds of musicals that don't try to recreate what Howard Ashman and Alan Menken perfected circa 1989. Like the SING movies, those are jukebox musicals, the TROLLS movies are more like pop musicals than they are Broadway...
So, some three decades after the release of TOY STORY (assuming that this film comes out in 2026 at the earliest), yeah! Pixar making a musical isn't so far-fetched. What this studio brings to that genre remains to be seen, but I'm interested nonetheless. They could possibly re-invent it in a very cool, fun way. I just find the title to be curious... Ducks... Talking animals... It seems very basic, but there's a lot we don't know, so I'll wait til I hear more. It could be about, say, duckpin bowling for all I know.
My other question is... Who is directing it? I know that the following filmmakers have pitched or are working on films at Pixar:
Brian Fee (director of CARS 3)
Enrico Casarosa (director of LUCA)
Domee Shi (director of TURNING RED)
Dan Scanlon (director on ONWARD and MONSTERS UNIVERSITY)
Kristen Lester (director of Sparkshort PURL)
Rosana Sullivan (director of Sparkshort KITBULL)
Aphton Corbin (director of Sparkshort TWENTY-SOMETHING)
Daniel Chong (creator of WE BEAR BEARS, storyboard artist on CARS 2 and INSIDE OUT)
Their schedule currently looks like this:
6/14/2024: INSIDE OUT 2
06/13/2025: ELIO
03/06/2026: Unknown
06/19/2026: Unknown
TBD 2026: TOY STORY 5 (likely summer)
So, logically, this could be their spring 2026 original movie while TOY STORY 5 expectedly takes the prime summer slot. Maybe! Perhaps it swaps spots with something else, I don't know.
We do have a D23 Expo coming up this year, so maybe we'll learn what Pixar's post-ELIO films are that aren't sequels. If DUCKS is real and it's moving along quite nicely, then that should be the one. We shall see...

Superhero with the power of traveling between alternate universes, but she won't use her power for either good or evil
because she doesn't care. There is only one thing she really cares about
(being an obsessively hyperfixated autistic fan of the 1982 cult classic TRON movie, who knows every detail of every draft of the scripts and decisions that went into changing them)
Which is why she only uses her power to travel to other universes where TRON was made differently, and watch the movie in each one of them
any other ways these universes are different from her own? Irrelevant. They are only different obstacles to the ultimate goal of watching TRON
she is resourceful, she can figure out a way to overcome any of them... but only for that one goal.
oh? this world is under global dictatorship by fashion designers and you will be stopped and imprisoned if you are out on public streets not wearing the Latest Look? ....Ok but... it still has Tron, right? ....Fine, I'll do whatever it takes to break outta prison and get me some acceptable clothes, just make sure they'll last long enough to find a place I can see TRON and then I'll leave
Oh people have gills and live underwater in this universe. Hmm. Their version of TRON must be pretty interesting. I will put just enough effort into figuring out how to either get scuba gear or grow gills, so that I can get myself to an underwater theater showing TRON
this world is exactly the same except watching TRON is deemed the worst crime possible and all of law enforcement's first priority is to stop people from watching TRON. Heads up programs, I'm about to become the most wanted criminal! ....but it's all okay because my plan gives me plenty of time to watch the whole thing before I gotta go on the run and hop universes again
Eventually the space-time-continuum preservation society clocks her, and realizes her single-minded dedication is so intense, she is capable of doing more damage to a world in pursuit of the local copy of TRON than other universe-hopping supervillains have done with the express goal of destroying worlds
they have to develop a whole subcommittee dedicated to intercepting her at arrival and saying, "we know about you, we have made a treaty with the local people, they've given us this DVD to give you, now please please leave"
she is generally okay with this (as long as the DVD has sufficient behind-the-scenes extras to give context on why things were done the way they were)
