Lora Baines-Bradley shoutout in 2025?? IM HERE FOR IT.
WHAT I PRESUME THIS IS: The orange tree being the first sign of the Grid bleeding out into the real world, an AI tree just existing on its own in the arctic with no rhyme or reason--When the orange was the first successful breach of organic matter into a digital space via laser by Lora in 1982. It's almost biblical in its ominous approach and I am in love.

The Anti-Fashion Icon, Alan Bradley
King of "it's comfortable, why wouldn't I wear it?"
(Flynn gave him those pants as a prank, and no one knows where he managed to find the jacket)
#Tron#Alan Bradley#Lora Baines#flynn's there too I guess#Lora chose most of Alan's clothes for him (she couldn't be seen in public with him)#The only reason he mostly passed was because he just wore suits for work

The novel of TRON 1982 is such a weird wealth of lore
today I'm delightedly fixated on how it approaches "pop culture references and the question of whether and how to explain them"
(I love this novel but there are times when it felt like in this respect it was trying to be the "Ready Player One" of 1982 and it's hilarious)
Anyway. We see that it at least acknowledged Alan's famous cubicle sign as a reference to something AI-related, although it goes into no more specifics
And (quite helpfully, imo) it also clarifies Lora's odd comment about purchasing your program 30 days in advance (she was doing a travel agent bit, apparently)
And then it feels the need to explain quite thoroughly just what Flynn was referencing with the "wayback machine" quote
(while also showcasing the different formatting standards of the time! Double quotes nested within single quotes, back then. Nice.)
...and then, it starts referencing things that... neither I, nor the actual final cut of the movie, have any bloody idea about
yep. Love this stupid wonderful book

Thinking about how Flynn’s loft is absolutely covered in signs. Street signs, window signs etc. this is his #1 drunk activity. He has a wrench on him he just- he just steals signs.
Many a time he wakes up on Alan and Lora’s couch cradling whatever treasure he found the night before. No matter how Alan tries he’s never going to put it back. Finders keepers.

Lora: "Oh, you want to talk about clothes, Kevin? Should I tell Alan about some of your fashion choices through the years?"
Flynn: "Aw, c'mon Lora, you don't have to bring that up..."
Lora: "Alan, it wasn't too long ago that the boy genius here started gluing all kinds of rhinestones onto everything he wore. When we went to an arcade, he was glittering more than the machines."
Alan: "Is that true, Flynn? Have you been been bedazzling?"
Flynn: "Bedazzling is such an ugly word, Mr. Bradley."

Alan Bradley: "I don't know, he just said something about tampering. ...Do you think it's your Fuccboi Ex agai-"
Lora Baines: "Oh it's DEFINITELY my Fuccboi Ex again."

... and just so Yori and Lora don't miss out on the joke (or YoLo as @big-overload-little-derez so nicely named them). A little continuation of my previous Lora piece. 😉 Those pesky Sirens really don't like User clothing! Go get 'em, Yori!

The Importance of Dr. Lora Baines
This is the short article I wrote for the @losttalestronzine! This zine is now in production! It was a lot of fun to work on and I hope you enjoy this article!
Even though Lora does not make her appearance until the thirteenth minute of the film, her first scene immediately stakes her as a major character. She sits at the computer bay in one of ENCOM’s research labs, which already implies her importance in the field of computer research. This implication is further evidenced by her name tag, which when paused at 15:30 reads: “Dr. Lora [S.?] Baines”. This puts her at the same level of Gibbs (whose tag reads “Dr. Walter Gibbs”) and Alan (“Dr. Alan Bradley”) in terms of education and possible importance.
The franchise that many people have grown to love is built on the bonds between a world of humans and a world of their programs. These tales of heroes and villains across multiple pieces of media, and the exploration of ethics in these worlds would not exist without this connection. This connection would not exist if not for a young Dr. Lora Baines in 1982, who allowed Kevin Flynn to sit down at the computer in front of that laser.

my second piece for the @cindymorganzine
I personally don't like this one as much. I think the beginning of art block has started to hit me in the face when I did this. I do like the colors though. Download here for feels.
I wanted to briefly ramble about the zine below so there's that :')
Reading the Always zine felt like the best part of funerals in my opinion- the wake. People sharing their love for the person who passed. Stories being shared. It's beautiful. I managed to not cry while reading it but it was close.
not everyone may have known Cindy Morgan personally, but it's clear to me she was a genuinely wonderful individual, and the lives she touched are will bring their joy to other people's lives as well.

If Alan's last name is Bradley and Lora's last name is Baines then their ship name could be "Brains" and I kinda love that for them

Thinking about them again your honor.
It’s about how Lora/Yori is always the guide, always knows just where to go and what to do and how Alan/Tron happily go along with it. They trust she knows best (they’re also a total sap about her)
It’s the “if I’m not holding your hand right now I’ll explode”. They’re so touchy and my heart can’t take it? Lora/Yori has a tendency to cling to his arm, press herself into his shoulder and it’s absolutely everything.
Also no one talks about how funny the arcade scene is, Lora is just giggling and dragging him along as Alan is going through increasing stages of ‘oh my god what have I got myself into- what is this guy’ — this arcade serves all ages and demographics and somehow he still sticks out! In this case it’s a reverse where Lora is the one to ‘protect’ him and I’m going to loose it.
#can you tell i rewatched#Losing it over them#again I’m not usually one wild about fictional couples or ships but they put something in these two… four?#tron#tronblr#tron 1982#lora baines#alan bradley#lora baines bradley#yori tron#tron x yori#tron/yori#alan/lora#Alan x Lora#character study#detail
