Cherry Pie â´ J.Seresin
pairing: Jake Seresin x fem!reader
content/warning: 18+, smut, fwb situation, swearing, alcohol consumption, boys will be boys, 'love' confession, just a bit of angst, no use of Y/N, pet names like "honey" or "sweets", COMMUNICATION IS KEY.
summary: You just moved in San Diego and you needed help with all the boxes and furniture. Naturally, you called Jake to give you a hand and that's it, right?
words count: 2.0k
notes: this is my contribution to @roosterforme's Rocktober playlist, just as asked, the fic is inspired by the song but you don't need to know it to read this, obviously... Also, English isn't my first language so please take that into your consideration. (I've spent the whole day writing this because I knew I'd never get it done before the end of October)
ITALICS ARE FLASHBACKS
masterlist
"Oh, by the way, didn't you tell us one of your friends just moved here?" Rooster said as his eyes were fixed on the pool table where they were playing. Jake scoffed and sighed, trying to suppress the smile creeping up on his lips. "Oh yeah, you said that! What was her name again?" Fanboy pointed out with a light smirk. Jake was about to answer him when Payback clapped his hand on his shoulder, stopping him on his track. "Bagman's got a female friend? I don't believe it!" He laughed loudly. "I do have a female friend, I'm not that big of an jerk." Jake got up and slapped his hand flat on the table.
"We're still friends, huh?" You asked as his lips made their way down the column of your neck. Another moan escaped your lips as you felt his teeth nibble at the sensitive skin. "Yeah, yeah... Still friends." He muttered before slipping his hands under your thighs and wrapping your legs around his waist. His lips found yours once again and he didn't wait another second before slipping his tongue between your lips and tasting you. "I called you so you could help me unpack." You scolded him as your hands grabbed the hem of his shirt and in one movement, the garment was on the floor of your new kitchen. "Oh, sure, sure... Let me just...unwrap this first." He said as he unzipped your jeans and slid them down your thighs, revealing your lace panties. You chuckled and he put you up the counter before kneeling down in front of you, between your parted legs. He started kissing your left ankle, then your calf and he pecked kisses up your thigh until he reached your soaking underwear. "You're so pretty, why did I wait this long?" He murmured, mouthing at your clothed core. "Fuck..." You moaned as you hooked your legs around his head. Your fingers gripped his hair tight as he slipped your panties to the side and he licked your wet folds before wrapping his lips around your clit and sucking, hard.
Everyone looked at Jake with raised eyebrows, not believing a single one of his words. Rooster was the first one to crack up and laugh. "Yeah, right. And I'm the frickin' Queen of England." Jake groaned and looked away, trying to hold himself back from punching his wingman in the face. "Excuse us for not believing you, but we only know you as a ladies' man. In front of 'womanizer' in a dictionary, there's your picture, man." Javy chuckled before taking a sip of his drink and adding something. "Also, shouldn't I know about her if she's as dear as you say?" Jake sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, glancing at the front doors another time, checking if you've arrived. "She's from my home town, we met in college and she just accepted a very nice job here. She's not here for me, she's here for work, we're just lucky we're in the same area for once since college." He cleared his throat and checked his phone for any signs of you. "Sounds like a romantic tragedy." Phoenix commented, noticing the longing look on his face as he checked his texts. "No, we're not like that. We're friends, remember? Just friends."
"To friends. And to a new life in California." You said as you held your glass of champagne high. "To all of that." Jake chuckled before taking a sip of the alcohol, not breaking the eye contact with you. You just finished unpacking everything for your living room. You still needed to finish your room and the bathroom but the biggest part was done. "Oh, wait!" You put down your glass and went to the kitchen, getting a little basket of fresh cherries. You took two peers and gently put them in both your glasses, turning the simple champagne into fancy home-made cocktails. "Champagne with cherries? That's weird." Jake laughed and grabbed his cherries before putting one in his mouth, pulling on the stem to detach it. "Maybe, but it's really good." You chuckled and did the same, staring into his eyes. "It shouldn't surprise me that the first things you have in your fridge are cherries. You've always loved them." He spat back the cherry stone and took a sip of his drink.
"You wanna see something cool?" You asked and he simply nodded, eating his second cherry. You grabbed his stem and pulled on it before putting it on your tongue and closing your mouth. Jake watched you carefully, mesmerized by you. You then grinned and pushed the, now knotted, stem between your teeth. "Holy shit..." Jake scoffed, grabbing the stem but you bit down on it to keep it in your mouth. His gaze went up to your eyes and he saw that special spark in them. He delicately removed the stem from your mouth and traced your lips with his thumb before slowly pushing it between them. Your tongue gently licked his finger and you took a bit more of it in your mouth, sucking softly. "Shit, honey..." Jake rasped. He then felt your tongue circle his thumb before you sucked a bit more and he could feel his cock harden in his pants. He adjusted himself in his seat and you chuckled, releasing his thumb and gently kissing the pulp of it. Jake moistened his lips and wrapped his hand around your neck to draw you closer to him. He crashed his lips on yours and immediately parted your lips to slide his tongue in your mouth. He could taste the cherry on your tongue and swore he could never get tired of your taste.
"Hey Penny Dear, could you get a Cherry Bomb ready for my friend. She's gonna be there soon. Put it on my tab." He softly tapped the counter before turning to the front doors. He couldn't wait to see you walk past those doors, as if he didn't see you the night before. As if he didn't feel your walls flutter around him as he brought you to your fourth climax of the night. He snapped back to reality when a hand landed on his shoulder. Javy sighed next to him and followed his gaze to the doors. "So... You're gonna tell me when you're gonna ask that girl out?" He then took a sip of his beer. "Never, it's not like that." Jake grumbled as his phone vibrated in his pocket. "Oh, I can see that it is". He chuckled without noticing Jake wasn't listening anymore. The blond pilot was frenetically typing on his phone, answering your text and telling you where to find him in the bar. The next thing he heard was the front door opening and your heels clicking on the floor. He raised his head and grinned when he caught your gaze through the crowd. He stuffed his phone in his pocket and made his way to you. "Not like that, my ass." Javy scoffed and gave back his empty beer to Penny who thanked him and went to another patron.
"You made it!" Jake exclaimed as he approached you. "I made it!" You laughed and hugged him tight. "Come on, I ordered your favorite already." He kissed the top of your head and led you to the counter where Penny introduced herself and gave you your drink with a wink. Not so far, Phoenix and Rooster were watching you both with frowns. "Are they dating? They look like they're dating." The woman asked her friend. "I don't know if they're official but they definitely like each other." They both straightened up when they saw you walking to them, Jake's arm around you and leading you. The pilot introduced you and you shook hands with all of them. "We've heard a lot about you." The man called Payback smiled at you and you grinned widely. "Jake talks about me?" You chuckled and turned to your friend who winced. "But we didn't believe him when he said he had a female friend." Fanboy chuckled as he scratched the back of his neck. "A bit of a ladies' man, isn't he?" You laughed, giving a light slap to Jake's ass who then glared down at you. You chuckled a bit more and took a sip of your drink, the cherry flavor invading your taste buds. You grabbed the cherry on top and bit it, detaching the stem and keeping it in your hand.
The conversation went on and when you stood up, calling for a bathroom break, Jake only noticed now the knotted stem in your empty glass. He picked it up and made it twirl between his fingers. "She did that?" Javy scoffed, looking at the stem in his friend's hand. "Yup. With her tongue." Jake chuckled slightly before dropping the stem back in your glass. "Come on, man. I know you said you're not dating but the tension between you is too strong for friends. Are you hooking up with her?" Rooster leaned over the table as he lowered his voice a bit. "I am not. We're friends and that's it. She's just like that, all clingy and shit. Always have been." Jake gave his friends a little smile before he felt a hand on his shoulder. "I'm a bit tired from work, I'm going home sooner than expected." Your voice surprised him and he hoped you hadn't heard what he said just before. Because if one of you was clingy, it was certainly him. "Do you want me to walk you back to your car?" He asked, standing up. "I'd love to." You smiled at him and said bye to everyone before you waited for Jake to pay his tab and join you outside.
When he passed the doors, you wrapped your arm around his and you two walked silently. "Can I ask you a question?" You asked hesitantly. "Always. Tell me." Jake's other hand stroked your arm soothingly. "Are you ashamed of our...relationship? I heard what you said and I didn't really like it." Jake slightly winced at your words and as he thought you would let his arm go, you didn't do such. You kept him as close as before. "I'm not...ashamed. They just... They spent the whole afternoon teasing me about you, asking if we were dating and talking badly of me. I just wanted to shut them up." He tried to explain and you stayed silent, that wasn't really you. "Are you mad?" He then asked when he saw your car in the parking lot, scared you might leave without giving him a second glance. "I'm not. They're your friends, you know how to handle them. I believe you when you say you're not ashamed of me." You squeezed yourself against his arm. "How could I ever be ashamed of you, Sweets? You're amazing, honestly you're the best thing that's ever happened to me." You laughed at his words and dug into your purse to grab your car key. "The best thing, huh?" You smirked and looked up at him. "The best of the best." He nodded, sliding his hands on your waist. "Then you wouldn't mind picking me up tomorrow at seven? I saw a nice restaurant I wanted to try with you." He was surprised of your boldness but didn't complain. "Like...like a date?" He asked for confirmation and you smiled a bit more. "Like a date." He quickly looked away to hide his excitement but you noticed his blushing cheeks. "I wouldn't mind at all picking you up and taking you on a date. Would you allow me to kiss you before I let you go home?" He lowered his voice, as if he was scared someone else might hear how sweet and loving he was for you. You nodded eagerly and grabbed him by the neck before colliding your lips with his and swiping your tongue over his lips. And just as always, he could taste the cherry on your tongue and he loved every bit of it.

cin i need all your thoughts on the new kendrick album
Friend, do me a favor, send this same ask in like 2 days. I have to formulate an expert opinion and that takes days of listening
*adjusts glasses*
First and foremost, this is classic California sound right here! Wacced out murals is hard as fuck and that beat is SICKENING. It feels like into the mind of a madman but then morphs into a straight head banger then he addresses lil wayne, and REITERATES how he is the fucking GOAT of all this shit "fuck a double entendre I want y'all to feel this shit" in other words, it ain't that deep, just vibe with him.
Next squabble up got us all c-walkin in our bedrooms and ready to fight a bitch. Every good album needs a track like this. Luther comes in with the BOMB ASS SAMPLE (yes, this shit was perfectly done) of a BOMB ASS CLASSIC ASS SONG and you just vibe out because the beat hits you in the chest and luther's voice just rocks you, plus he brings SZA back from wherever the fuck she was? WITH THE HARMONY!! This is such a beautiful song and my favorite so far.
Man at the garden? BITCH I DESERVE IT ALL and its the force in which he says it that makes it a mantra. Repeat that shit in the mirror to yourself in the morning. Everyday. Bro really said his intentions were pure so all the fame this year, all the grammy nods, the superbowl, the anthem (not like us), ALL OF IT he deserves! I fucking love that shit. He already told us to be humble, but you don't have to be humble about SHIT YOU DESERVE OKAY??? A better life for his momma, a close relationship with God... he breaks down why he doesn't have to be humble about his wins! This feels so good to listen to because he's fucking RIGHT.
Another c-walker in Tv Off, shit bangs, period. WE SURVIVE OUTSIDE ALL FROM THE MUSIC! He starts playing with his voice again and I love that. Can't stand a monotone ass rapper.
Peakaboo and gnx have a beat that I can't WAIT to play in my truck. Imma just go to the store for no fucking reason tomorrow so I can hear how it really sounds.
So yeah, those are my initial thoughts after listening most of the afternoon and evening but imma let it marinate a few more days. Definitely feels like a continuation of what we heard this Spring - serious scary beats with sick lyrics with a few dance tracks sprinkled in. One thing is for sure, the album just feels like Compton.
#thank you for coming to my cin talk#and thanks for asking#sorry for the dissertation#kendrick#kendrick lamar#gnx

chappell roan lyrics, the rise and fall of a midwest princess edition ( + bonus 'good luck, babe!' for reasons )
⸠same old story, time again. got so close but then you lost it. ⸠i'm so sick of online love. ⸠um, can you play a song with a fucking beat? ⸠you're lying to your friends about how [they're] such a goddamn good lover. ⸠you got what you wanted so stop feeling sorry. ⸠you know what i mean and you know what you need. and so do they! but does it happen? no! ⸠you showed me things i didn't know. ⸠i just want you to make a move. so, slow down, sit down, it's new. ⸠i just wanna get to know ya. guess i didn't quite think it through. ⸠i fell in love with the thought of you. ⸠baby, why don't you come over? ⸠i like what you like. ⸠want me to fuck you? baby, i will 'cause i really want to. ⸠well, back at my house i got a california king. okay, maybe it's a twin bed and some roommates. ⸠let's make this bed get squeaky. ⸠my mama said nothing good happens when it's late and you're dancing alone. ⸠this is what i wanted, this is what i like. ⸠i kinda wanna kiss your [girl/boy]friend if you don't mind. ⸠i love a little drama, let's start a bar fight. ⸠everything good happens after midnight. ⸠i really want your hands on my body. ⸠that's my type of fun, that's my kind of party. ⸠i'll meet you for coffee 'cause if we have wine, you'll say that you want me and i know that's a lie. ⸠if i didn't love you, it would be fine. ⸠every place leads back to your place. ⸠i'd rather feel something than nothing at all so ... ⸠we've done this before and i don't need it anymore. ⸠it's never just coffee. ⸠i've heard so many rumors. that i'm just a [girl] that you bang on your couch. ⸠i thought you thought of me better. someone you couldn't lose. ⸠is it casual now? ⸠it's hard being casual. ⸠i try to be the chill [girl] but honestly i'm not. ⸠i hate that i let this drag on so long, now i hate myself. ⸠you know what they say: never waste a friday night one a first date. ⸠not overdramatic, i know what i want.
⸠we're hot, we're drunk. ⸠at every party, we're the party. ⸠get up off your feet, get up on that bar. ⸠i could be the one or your new addiction. ⸠call me hot, not pretty. ⸠i try not to care but it hurts my feelings. ⸠who knew that we'd let it get this bad when it ended? ⸠i heard it from [NAME], you're losing it lately. ⸠people say i'm jealous but my kink is watching you ruining your life. ⸠people say i'm jealous but my kink is karma. ⸠wishing you the best, in the worst way. ⸠it's hot when you're going through hell and you're hating yourself, i'm feeling myself. ⸠do you picture me like i picture you? ⸠i'm too scared to say half of the things i do when i picture you. ⸠i guess we could pretend we didn't cross a line. ⸠if you really wanna leave, i'll never make you stay. ⸠whatever you decide, i will understand. ⸠love is a kaleidoscope. how it works we'll never know. ⸠i know you wanted me to stay but i can't ignore the crazy visions. ⸠i'm having wicked dreams. ⸠every night's another reason why i left it all. ⸠don't think i've left you all behind. i still love you and you're always on my mind. ⸠god, what have you done? ⸠i'm gonna keep on dancing. ⸠i'd love if you knew you were on my mind constant like cicadas in the summertime. ⸠we could go to hell but we'll probably be fine. ⸠we're an inch away from more than just friends. ⸠won't you fucking touch me? ⸠if it hasn't happened yet then maybe you should go. ⸠to think i almost had it going but i let you down. ⸠too hard to find reasons to stay. even true love could not persuade. ⸠come get me out. ⸠sometimes i scare myself but i can't help what i can't help. ⸠i fantasize what we would do. ⸠some good girls do bad things too. ⸠i wants this like a cigarette. can we drag it out and never quit? ⸠oh my god, you are heaven-sent. ⸠you can say that we are nothing but you know the truth. ⸠guess i'm the fool. ⸠i don't wanna call it off but you don't wanna call it love. ⸠good luck, babe! ⸠you'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling. ⸠i'm cliche, who cares? ⸠when you wake up next to him in the middle of the night with your head in your hands, you're nothing more than his wife. ⸠you know i hate to say it, i told you so.

Jazzy Woman
Pairing: Bradley Bradshaw x Plus size!f!reader
Warnings: 18 plus only! Minors DNI! DO NOT COPY! Lead up to smut. Fluff. Unprotected sex. P in V. Oral. (f receiving) Praise kink. Size kink. Riding. Fingering. Hair pulling. Insecure reader. Mentions of insecurities and self-doubt.
AN: As someone who is plus sized; this story truly means the world to me. And is a reminder that all bodies are beautiful and that you deserve to treat yourself right. Words can't say how proud I am of this and how much I love this. Now, I could be wrong, but I like to think that Bradley would be into curvy girls. Also, go listen to all the songs! They are amazing!
Summary: You don't think your pretty enough and worthy of having love or being with someone. But Bradley thinks very differently of that.
~
Bradley loves to come to the bar to have a good time with his friends, drink and sing. But his motivation for coming to The Hard Deck changed. He comes every single night, just so he can see you. And if he can't come one night for some reason, he is devastated.
A few months ago, he walked into the bar like a normal weekend evening for him, but instead of Penny giving him his drink, it was you. You recently moved here to California after family matters, to get away. Starting over for yourself. Moving into your tiny apartment and landing a job here at The Hard Deck. Now working every night. You quickly got to know Bradley. Being for the fact you see him just as much as you see Penny. He is definitely a man who leaves an impression and doesn't mind filling the room with his presence. Unlike you who likes to keep hidden behind the bar, keeping to yourself in your own little world. Not making much of any effort to put yourself out there in the open with the extra attention.
And Bradley quickly learned that. He has tried time and time again to try and get you out from behind that bar, but you have turned him down every single time. He sits and watches you stay in the corner. But he notices the small things. Like how when you're working, your hips will sway to certain songs and your head will bob to the beat.
He wants to learn everything about you. To your favorite song to the spots on your body that makes you feel good. Thats why, tonight, he is determined to do just that. Not going to leave this bar until he has the real you having a conversation with him. Even better if you go home with him. But, for now he will more than happy just to have a pure conversation with you. Anything to know more about you.
"Hey." He tries to capture your attention now that the bar is slowing down.
"Yes? Do you need another drink?" You smile warms his soul.
"No, actually. I was hoping I could talk to you." He has a small smile. His hazel eyes fixated on you.
"Okay." Your leery.
"I was thinking, maybe we could go grab some food when you get off. What do you say?"
"I say, you know the answer to this question Bradley." You cross your arms over your chest. Leaning against the bar.
He lets his head fall forward, sighing. Knowing exactly what the answer is, but he doesn't want to hear it. He wants to hear anything but that. The words he gets every single time he tries to get close to you.
"I get off of work to late." And there it is.
"That's not a problem for me."
You sigh. Looking up at the smirking man. Knowing that his stubbornness will not take no for an answer. It's not that you want to say no. God, you want to say yes and spend your nights with him. But you keep pushing him away because you know a man as attractive as he is, could never have interest in a woman with your looks. It just can't be.
You wonder why he does give you so much attention to you. Why he is determined to be close to you at all times. He could go get any woman he wants in the bar. No man that comes in here gives you two looks, but yet he is sitting in a stool watching your every step. Why in the world would he have his eyes on me? It plays around in your head.
"Nice try Roo." You do what you do best. Push him away. Tell him no when you're screaming yes in your mind. When all you want to do is have a nice night with a man you find attractive and enjoy being in his presents. But that fear of yours, that voice inside your head overpowers you. It tells you and reminds you that you will never be good enough, that you're not pretty enough, and that a man like him could never take an interest in you. So, you walk away. Going back to work. Leaving Bradley sitting there in silence. Leaving him with his thoughts.
While you're thinking about why he gives you so much attention, he is thinking about why you give him so little attention. Why say no. Why a beautiful, captivating woman like you shuts yourself off from him and others. He wants to know what you see in yourself. What's going through your mind. What is it that he sees that you don't see? Just as his mind wonders on you, he sees you walk over to the stereo. Turning the volume up. When you return back, you're humming. Your body flowing. The movement of you enchanting him. He listens to the song, hearing Motownphilly by Boys || Men playing.
As he watches you, he has never you seen you so alive. Yes, you hum and move to some songs, but he has never seen a song move you so like this one does. Seeing this, he also sees an opportunity. "I didn't take you to be a Boy's || Men girl."
"Excuse me?"
"The song. You like it?" He raises a brow. Biting at his lip to hide his smile.
"Yeah. It's my favorite song. My Dad use to play it for me growing up." You don't even realize your letting that wall slip. But Bradley watches as it falls.
"You listen to hip hop?"
"Jazz." You correct him.
"Jazzy woman..." He whispers to himself. His plan going perfectly according to plan. "Have you heard Always Be My Baby by Brasstracks?" He continues.
You turn to him. A look of surprise on your expression. "You know Brasstracks?" You say in shock. Thinking you were the only one who listened to them. His smile grows as he nods.
"Wow..." You trail off. "What about Highroad by Sir Woman?" You ask. Bradley slowly becoming head over heels for you as he sees you get so enthusiastic and passionate about something.
"Yeah, I know that one. Musta Been A Ghost by Proxima Parada?" He asks.
"Sober by Earl St. Clair?"
"You Know I'm No Good by Amy Winehouse?"
"Didn't It Rain by Sister Rosetta Tharpe?"
"Oo, Nowhere To Run by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas?"
"It's So Easy by Margo & Mac?" You raise your eyebrows when he takes a long pause.
"Damn. You got me there. I haven't heard that one." He didn't think it was possible, but his smile somehow grew when he heard you laughing. Your head falling back and your smile wide.
This is exactly what he wanted. Learning that you like Jazz and then seeing you laugh at him. And not being able to stop smiling. It's everything he has wished for.
"You should give it a listen." As you smile warmly at him, longingly looking into those dark eyes, you realize he trapped you. That he's the wrecking ball and he just tumbled the wall you built. That he slipped right in and got to you. He paid close attention and found the thing you love and the thing that you could talk about for hours and started slowly pulling back the tape until he had you fully showing the true you. Now you see what he done. Now, you're going to walk away. Scared at the fact that he was able to get to you.
You sigh in defeat. Looking up at the clock realize that it's almost closing time. Not even realizing that Penny called last round. "Would you like to close your tab?" You ask him. He looks at you confused. Looking over at the clock, he realizes he has to get going. "Yeah, that will be fine." You do so. Starting to wipe down the counters but he still sits there.
"So..." He stands from his seat. "I'll meet you outside. We can finish our conversation over some pizza." He smiles at you, and you laugh. Resting your hand on your hip, shaking your head.
"Bradley..." You trail off.
"Yes?" He answers.
"I see what you did there. That was a nice attempt." You scoff. But not at him. More so at yourself.
"How about this..." He walks over to. Leaning against the wood. Getting inches from you. "If you don't enjoy yourself. I'll leave you be. But if you have a good time with me. We do this again next Saturday."
You take a moment to think. Looking away from those burning eyes. You know you will enjoy it. You don't want to admit it, but you loved talking to him. How easy it was. Talking about the things you love. Hell, he made you laugh and smile even.
"You get one chance, Bradley. And that's it." You say firmly, pointing your finger at him. You walk away. Getting your coat. Talking with Penny, her telling you that she's got it, and she can finish closing up. Telling you to go have a good time. So, you get your things. Getting in Bradley's Bronco. Driving you both to the Pizza place down in town that stays open all night for some reason.
Bradley putting on the radio and continuing to ask you about what music you like. How you got into music. What it means to you. Why you like Jazz. Such and such. Asking you anything and everything he can ask. Getting you to talk. As badly as he wants to look at how your face lights up when you speak, he pays attention to the road, and even closer attention to your voice. It smooths him. Relaxes him in a way. Hearing you talk about any and every song you know. From Sighed, Sealed, Delivered, by Stevie Wonder, You Can't Judge A Book By It's Cover by Bo Diddley to Stay Away From Me by Puff Kennedy, All Good by Samm Henshaw, Foreplay by Jalen Santoy and Love + U by Jensen & The Flips. You all but named every song you had on your playlist to him, and he loved hearing about every single one of them.
Next thing you know, you're ordering the pizza and walking back to his Bronco to go back to his place. From talking to the music, it led to telling stories. Mention a song and something crazy that happened when it played. Talking about how different songs remind you of different things. The stories flowing so nicely, your confused when he stops and gets out of the car, walking over to your side to open your door now that you are at his place.
"Okay. Tell me this. Favorite song from a movie?" He looks down at you as you both walk to his door.
"No. I'm not saying it!" You laugh. A specific song coming to your mind.
"Oh, well, you have to tell me now." He laughs with you. The both of you sitting on his couch. You cover your face with your hands. Your knees coming up to your chest. "Don't go getting shy on me now." He coos.
You sigh, "Something That I Want by Grace Potter." You answer.
"The song from Tangled?" He asks and you nod. "Is that your favorite movie?"
"Maybe." You speak. He opens the pizza box. Taking a slice for himself, then another for you. Holding it out in front of you but you put your hand up, shaking your head. "I'm not that hungry." You tell him. Your already out of your comfort zone. You're not about to go and eat in front of him. There is no way it's going to happen.
He frowns. But he doesn't make you eat. He sit's it back in the box. Pushing it so it is facing you in case you change your mind and want it. Comfortable silence falling between the two of you. He eats, leaned against the arm of the couch with his legs spread. You take your shoes off. Leaned against the other arm. Stretching your legs out on the couch. His eyes traveling over your body. At how close you are to him. How badly he wants to touch you. His mind focused on your beauty. The dimples on your cheeks. How your hair barely lays over your shoulders. Your hands interlaced on your lap.
He brings his hand up. Placing it on your ankle, starting to rub small circles. "God, you're gorgeous." He whispers.
"What?" You look up at him. Furrowing your eyebrows. His eyes come to meet yours.
"You're gorgeous." He speaks clearly. You move your head back like to look at him better. The line between your eyebrows growing and your lips parted. You chuckle. "Ha, no. No. Please, don't do that." You shake your head, looking away from him. He squeezes your leg. "Look at me." His eyes are boarded into yours. You squeeze your thighs together. Arousal pooling in-between your legs. He shifts in his seat. Turning his body so that he is facing you. His hand moves from your ankle up to your closed thighs. He leans over you. His face inches away. His lips hovering over yours. The hairs of his mustache tickling the top of your lip. The tension between the two of you heavy. He tries to kiss you, but you move away. Thinking why the hell Bradley Bradshaw finds you attractive.
"Say it." He whispers into your ear. His hand kneading your thigh. Biting your lip, trying to control your breathing. "Say what?" You question. Your voice soft.
"Say, 'I'm beautiful'. I want to hear you say it." He pulls away from your neck to look into your eyes.
"I'm not saying it." You say firmly. Heat creeping up your neck and to your cheeks. You don't think your beautiful. Why should you say it? You gasp in shock when he suddenly pushes your legs open. Pulling you down where you lay against the arm of the couch. Using his legs to keep yours spread wide for himself. Trapping you under him. One of his hands caressing your side and the other by your head, holding himself up.
His lips come to yours. This time, you don't move away. You lean into him. Wrapping your arms around his neck. Lacing your fingers through his soft hair. His hand kneading your breast now, making you moan into his mouth.
"So beautiful." He mumbles. Pulling away from your lips. Kissing along your jawline. Down your neck. "I am not." You stated.
"Oh, really?" He pulls away. "I guess I'll just have to show you then." He kisses right below your ear. Pulling a moan from you. "Show you how beautiful you are. Show you how you need to be touched." He speaks between kisses.
The touch of his lips and the touch of his hands leaves you panting under him. Catching yourself trying to breath normally, your thighs trying to close together but Bradley doesn't allow it. He keeps them open, his bulge rubbing against your core. Driving you crazy, making your head spin like a carousel. It starting to get harder to control your moans.
His lips coming to yours. All tongue and teeth. His hands coming to your legs, wrapping them around his waist. He hosts you up in his arms, standing up. Making you yelp. "Bradley Bradshaw, put me down right now! I'm too heavy!" You slap his chest. His head falling back in laughter.
"Uh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to laugh at you." He can't even get the sentence out without laughing. "Put me down!" You say firmly. Glaring at him.
"Okay. Okay." He mumbles. Putting you down. He doesn't even let you stand there for a whole two seconds before he throws you over his shoulder like a doll.
"Bradley!" You shout at him. He somehow laughs harder. Slapping your ass. He takes you into his bedroom. Stopping at the edge of the bed. He drops you down. Crawling back on top of you. His lips going to yours like a magnet. Not giving you anytime at all to speak. Not giving you time to do anything really. His hands coming up and pulling your jacket off. Throwing it to the side. His hand sliding up your shirt and to your breast. His other hand working at the buttons of your jeans. Not being able to get your clothes off of you fast enough. Your hands moving from his hair down to the hem of his shirt. He holds his arms up, letting you slide his shirt off of him. Your hands immediately going to his chest. Feeling his muscled, smooth skin. How he moves to your touch. If you weren't paying so much attention, you wouldn't have noticed how his breath hitched when you started touching him. How his cock jumped at your touch.
You try to unbutton his pants, but his hands come to yours. Pinning your hands above your head. "Not yet." His breath is heavy. His eyes hungry and you're the meal.
"But what about y-" You try to ask about him. About what he needs, but he cuts you off. "I've waited to long for this moment." He pauses. Jerking your pants down your legs. Throwing them to the floor to be found later. "I'm going to ruin you. Make you mine." He whispers in your ear. Pulling your shirt over your head. You try to cover your body. Try and hide, but Bradley doesn't allow it to happen. He pins your hands down. His eyes slowly ghosting over every inch of your body. Taking his time as he looks at you.
His hand moving and unclasping your bra. Throwing it as far as he can. Groaning at the sight of your bare skin. Finally exposed to him. He has you just how he wants. Naked and under him. Panting and desperate. This is everything he has imagined and more. He takes your breast in his mouth. Sucking, biting and kneading. Devouring you. Ruining you, just like he said he would. And he hasn't even started yet. This is only the beginning. He has already planned the whole night. His thoughts running wild like an animal set free to run in a field.
Even though he loves kissing every inch of your body, his patience can't take it anymore. He has to have more of you. With that, he laces his fingers in your underwear. Pulling them down. Diving into your core without hesitation. His tongue lapping circles around your clit. Pulling a moan from deep inside you. Your back arching off of the bed. Your hands gripping the sheets. Closing your thighs around his head. His hand coming to your thighs. Holding your legs open to give him room to move freely. He teases your entrance with his middle finger. Slowly pushing his finger in. Curling his finger at that spot inside of you that makes you weak. He adds another finger.
When your moans became louder. When you clenched your walls around his fingers, Bradley swore he entered heaven. He paid very close attention to your body. How his name continuously falls from your lips. How you pull his hair, how you try to grind your hips against his face. When he sucks your clit harshly, it makes your legs jerk and shake. Your mouth falling open, and your eyes shut. You look down to see Bradley's eyes already on you. The sight of him between your legs, looking at you like you're the most angelic thing he has ever seen, it sends shivers down your body. It sends you over the edge. Overwhelms you. That feeling in your stomach getting stronger, consuming you. Making you scream.
Bradley knows you are close. He knows you are about to come undone. You're the present and he is pulling at the strings, slowly opening you up. "Come for me." He groans against your core. The vibration of his words against you, the tone in his voice was enough to send you over the edge. That feeling getting so tight in your stomach until it is set free and your climax crashes over you. Bradley, helping you come down from your high. He stays still between your legs until he hears your breathing starting to slow down.
He pulls away. Licking his lips. Taking his fingers into his mouth. Sucking the cum off. Looking into your eyes as he does so. Looking over his face, at his red swollen lips and you're cum covering his chin and his mustache.
His lips come to yours. Kissing you as he pulls his pants down. Taking his cock in his hand. Pumping it. Precum leaking from it. He takes you in his arms. Walking around the bed, not breaking the kiss. He sits down. Placing you on his lap. You grind against his cock. His hips jolting up against you. His head falling back. Swears falling from his mouth. "Such a good girl." He mumbles against your skin. He holds the back of your neck. Pulling you to his lips. You attempt to lift your hips up so that your weight isn't on him, but he pushes you back down. Making you sit against him. "Bradley..." You say between kisses. He hums against your lips.
"I'm too heavy." You whisper. Looking down, avoiding his eyes. Trying to hide behind your hands.
"Hey..." He holds your chin. Tilting your head up. Making you look into his eyes. "You are not heavy. I don't want to hear that shit. Now... be a good girl and ride my cock." Your breath hitches at his words. Your walls clenching around nothing.
You nod. Lifting your hips. He lines his cock up with your entrance. Pushing the tip in. His hands holding your hips. "That's it. Just like that. Good girl. Take your time." He speaks between groans. Watching you as you slowly lower yourself down on his cock until he is bottomed out in you. You lift back up, then back down. Circling your hips. Starting to get into a rhythm. Riding his cock. Clenching your walls around him when the head of his cock hits that spot inside of you. Your action making Bradley grip your skin. His hand on your hip guiding you. His other hand moving to your hair. Pulling at it.
Kissing you. The kiss messy, wet and hot. His mouth moving down your neck. Biting your shoulder. Moaning out his name. Clenching around him. Beginning to move faster. All of it starting to become too much for Bradley. Your body pressed to his. Your breast bouncing in his face. Tight around his cock. Hearing his name being moaned. He does everything he can to try and make this last. To not immediately cum. Holding it back, trying to control himself. But your no better than him. That knot in your stomach coming back in a heartbeat. That heat growing back. The head of his cock hitting that spot repeatedly. Making your mind become cloudily. Your legs weak to the point they start shaking.
Your close. And you know he is too. His cock twitching in you. His groans becoming louder. His kisses becoming sloppy. You're both a mess. A mess over each other. He thrust his hips up. Meeting your movement. Starting to slam his cock into you. Pushing deeper inside of you. Filthy words coming from his mouth. His hands all over you. Moving from your thighs to your hips, your sides, your breast, your hair. Touching every part of your body he can get to. His hand going to your cunt. Pressing his finger to your clit. Rubbing harsh circles. Watching your head fall back.
"That's it. Uh, fuck. Come. Come all over my cock." He grunts. His hips getting sloppy. Knowing he won't be able to hold it together for much longer.
You do just as he says. Milking his cock. Your climax sending him into his. "Good girl. That's it. Uh, good girl." He fills you up with his cum. Shooting his seed deep in you. Starting to slow down, riding you both off of your high. Staying just like you are. You rest your forehead against his. His arms wrapping around your body. Holding you impossibly closer. You know as he holds you, that he is right. That he is right in every way. He has ruined you. You are his. And most of all, you did have a good time tonight. And you know you want to do this again. You see now that Bradley has opened up your eyes.
He moves his head away. Kissing you. He pulls out. Watching his come start to drip out of you. He looks up at you. Seeing your eyes already on him. Your lips starting to curl into a smile.
"What are you thinking about?" He tucks your hair behind your ear. Holding the side of your face.
"Just thinking about next Saturday. Same time? When I get off?" His smile grows.
"Yes ma'am." Bradley couldn't be happier than he is right now with you.
"Good. Cause I have plans for us."
"Is that so?" He tilts his head. His words teasing.
"Oh, yeah." You didn't think it was possible, but your smile somehow managed to grow.
Bradley grinned up at you. Holding you to him, he flips you on your back. Tenderly kissing your lips.

Just Wish I knew what caused it
(Fitpac exs to lovers)
Ch. 1 (to be named maybe)
Next Chapter
Translations done with assistance from: @caracolast (Portuguese) @keezers and @iridescentpull (Spanish)
Fit was driving along the interstate in silenceâŚ. okay mostly silence.
The Radio had given out about an hour beforehand and Ramon was sitting in the passengers seat fixing it; which wasn't all that quiet.
Fit was almost thankful for the lack of music, even if it did mean he couldn't stop thinking, because at least that meant he could wear his prosthetic arm and keep control of the wheel. With this distraction Ramon wasn't itching to take it apart again.
Fitâs mind was wandering, thinking about the circumstances he'd ended up in.
A single father traveling halfway across the country in the middle of summer to live on a ranch with strangers; one of which he had possibly fought in a war with.
The only reason he was even entertaining the idea was because Phil had suggested it.
And the only reason he was going is that he ran out of ways to avoid it.
He had no job, no extended family, and his savings were dwindling fast.
Phil had called Cellbit last week asking if he still needed more hands and if he had space for them.
A few days later, Fit and Ramon had as much of their life as they could fit in the back of their truck, that was almost twice Ramon's age, and were off to California. Everything else of value they managed to get in storage and Fit had a Trust to keep that paid for a while.
And as he thought about how he'd even get their stuff, he realized he didn't ask nearly enough questions. He knew he name of the guy who agreed to hire him; Cellbit. He knows he has kids near Ramon's age and that he is married but to who? Phil mentioned another hand who lived there but through the frenzy Fit didn't at all hear who it was and based on how Phil was talking about it, maybe he was supposed to know one or both of them? And if he didn't were they trustworthy? Were any of them? Fit had already been thinking of that anyway. He didn't care much if something happened to him but if something happened to Ramon, his beautiful baby boy, a gift from heaven, Fit could never-
There's a sudden loud static noise before some cheesy pop song that Fit doesn't know starts playing. The volume is turned down, âFinally! Fuck⌠look Fit I got it.â Ramon proudly lifted up the radio for Fit to see out of the corner of his eye before Ramon put the Radio back in its spot in the dash.
Fit smiled letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding âHey good job kid⌠you're going to make a lot of money one day, just don't forget about me when you're a rich and famous mechanic.â He ruffled Ramonâs hair and Ramon laughed.
âI could never. I learned everything from fixing your shitâ Ramon scoffed, smiling before flipping down the visor and opening the mirror.
Ramon gently traced his fingers over his upper lip examining it excitedly. Ramon had wanted a mustache since he was 5 and he finally had some dark lip hair develop after his 15th birthday.
Fit was excited for him. Even if it would come with the discussions of how the hell do you even maintain and clean facial hair. Fit had personal experience and it could be a hassle.
âHow much farther do we have?â Fit asked after a bit getting worried they somehow missed the exit.
Ramon checked his phone which was navigating them; â5 miles to the exit, then another 10 till we're actually there. It'll be about 20 minutesâ
Fit nodded appreciatively. âAlright then.â he mentally calculated which lanes he should get in and when based off the traffic level in each. âYou excited? There's bound to be plenty of stuff that could use your touch.â
Ramon nodded but even only half looking Fit could tell something was off. ââŚTallulah and Chayanne wouldn't lie to you about the kids you knowâ
âI know⌠it's just a lot of change⌠and⌠I still feel like it's my fault.â Ramon shrugged
âRamonâŚâ Fit cooed in his usual tone when he's trying to be assuring
âI know⌠I know. You're the one who wore the wrong arm and then lost the data but just-â Ramon faltered
âRamon, this could have happened without you being around. And honestly my arm was a bad place to store the data I don't know why he insisted upon it.â Fit put his hand on Ramon's shoulder âThis isn't a âyouâ problem. I have it handled now, and if this doesn't work out I'll get us a cheap camping spot and I'll find something eventually.â
Ramon nodded âalrightâ he hummed and looked out the window âThanks, dadâ
Fit smiled feeling that maybe this time Ramon would internalize it.
Soon they were off the interstate and driving straight until they got to the Ranch. Waiting to meet them was a man Fit hoped was Cellbit, with a child who Fit thought couldn't be older than 6 and an older child that seemed to be around Ramon's age.
The older one was sitting on the fence, swinging his legs. He wore a yellow and green Jersey for a team Fit didn't recognize but seemed to have a Brazilian flag on it. His eyes were covered by his curly hair that he seemed perfectly content on leaving despite acting like a lookout. He was wearing shorts and one of his socks seemed to go up higher than the other. Fit thought this looked oddâŚ
The younger kid, who was using the paved road just inside the fenced area of the ranch to skateboard, was wearing a red and white striped shirt that was definitely to big for him as you could only just see his shorts even though they went to his knees. His knees were covered by his pads, the kid was also wearing a helmet that covered most of his hair but it seemed to have a curl of its own.. He did note this kid probably had the largest pair of glasses he ever saw on someone under 18. The kid almost looked like Whereâs Waldo.
The adult, who appeared to be taking a break from his own skateboard, wore a white tank top and brown pants with a green long sleeve tied around his hips. The back of his brown hair, that was graying in the front, was pulled back and he seemed to be enjoying the sun. He turned as he heard Fitâs truck pull up and stop before the gate. He smiled and climbed over and hopped down.
The older kid went to hop down as well but the man clearly recognizing it before it could happen stopped him âRicharlyson! Tua perna nĂŁo aguenta isso! NĂŁo pula dessa altura.â
The kid, Richarlyson, frowned climbing down instead and walked over to stand next to the man. Fit put the car in park and got out. âHello, my name is Fit. I got hired to work here, I'm looking for Cellbit?â
The man smiled and offered his hands âI'm him, It's nice to meet you, Fitâ he looked him over, his eyes eventually landing on his prosthesis âNice arm, who do you get them from?â
Fit looked at his arm âoh. Uh my son actually made this one, I had kept a bunch of my old arms in a box and he managed to put this together for my birthday one year.â
âQue massa! My Pai made my leg!â Richarlyson proudly proclaimed pulling up his shorts to show where flesh met the sleeve of a prosthetic. That âsockâ was not a sock at all but metal painted fully black and honestly it looked very well made.
âOh wowâ Fit looked to Cellbit impressed but Cellbit shook his head.
âAh! NĂŁo sou eu. that's someone else. I mean I am his Pai but not the one who made the leg.â Cellbit chuckled putting an arm on Richarlysonâs back.
Now that Fit was closer, the scars that littered Cellbitâs armâs and face became more obvious. That was a war veteran if he ever saw one.
âSo kid,⌠uh how old are you?â Fit asked, that was a question you were supposed to ask kids you don't know right?
â14â Richarlyson answers. âYou?â
Fit pauses, that's not usually how these conversations go, but before he can answer
"ÂĄApa Cellbi! ÂżPuedo ir y decir hola?" The younger child called
Cellbit waved him over.
The kid took his helmet off and crawled through the fence before running up and hugging Cellbit âHello!â
âThis is my youngest, Pepitoâ Cellbit introduced
âAww, hello Pepito, my Name is Fit.â
Pepito pointed to the truck âWhoâs he?â
Every one looked to see and Ramon waved through the window realizing he was being stared at.
âThat's my son Ramon. He's a bit shyâ Fit explained
âOh okayâŚâ Pepito nodded âI like his hair.â
âIâll tell him you said soâ Fit assured.
âLet me go open the gate and you can drive up to the houseâ Cellbit said âweâll catch upâ
Fit nodded âI mean, I can drive you. The only stuff in the back passenger area is a couple of suitcases and a cooler that can be put in the back since we're here now.â
Cellbit nodded âAlright, thanks, thank you.â
Cellbit had the kids move to the side and then hopped the gate before getting it open. Fit got back in his truck and after explaining to Ramon, he slowly drove through, the kids walked in and Cellbit closed the gate before Fit got out of truck to move the bags.
Ramon got out too. âHey Fitâ Ramon said grabbing his bag and keeping his voice low.
âYes, my child?â
Ramon held back a huff âI can sit in the back with the kidsâ he offered
âYou sure?â Fit asked, in Fitâs mind the truck was more Ramonâs then it was his own. Sure Fit bought it well before Ramon was something he even dreamed of having in his life but it only still ran because Ramon had got really into machines at age five. Ramon was his go-to mechanic since he turned eight. When Ramon was ten, Fit adapted his Will to specifically say the truck was not to be sold till Ramon decided. If felt wrong to sit Ramon in the back.
âI'm sure. It's a short drive. Makes you look better if your son has manners anyway.â Ramon nudged Fit with his shoulder
Fit nodded and patted Ramonâs shoulder before everyone filed into the truck.
Since Pepito was so young and Also small for his age, he sat upfront in Cellbitâs lap while Ramon and Richarlyson sat in the back. They were at the house in less than 2 minutes.
âSo you're going to just pull up here. There's been a change of plan unfortunately.â Cellbit stated.
Fit stopped the truck and looked to Cellbit, worried.
âThe guest house we'd usually have you stay in had a pipe burst and it flooded 2 days ago. It's still getting maintenance.â Cellbit explained âso for the time being you'll be in the guest room in the main house. It does lockâ he said assuredly seeing Fit tense up.
Fit nodded. That was fine wasn't too bad, they'd manage. âThanks for the heads upâ he turned the truck off and got out.
As soon as Pepito was allowed to get out he ran into the house to go put the skateboarding things away. Cellbit chuckled and got out as well.
Ramon and Richarlyson waited a second but they didn't have much to stay in the car for, so they followed their dads.
âMr. Cellbit?â Ramon piped up.
âHm, yes?â Cellbit looked at him âwhat is it?â
âIf you need help with the pipes situation I might be able to lend a handâ Ramon offered âI'm pretty handyâ
Cellbit smiled âthat's good to know but I think we got things under control"
âYea my Pai is handiling it!â Richarlyson smiled âhe's pretty good with that stuff.â
âIt's true. I'm lucky to have him aroundâ Cellbit shrugged âbut hey, maybe heâll want the help. We can always askâ
The door to the house opened âCellbit, 'cĂŞ nĂŁo me contou que o funcionĂĄrio novo 'tava aquiâ the door closed.
Fit thought the voice sounded familiar but⌠no that couldn't be. He looked up to see his new co-worker.
âFoi mal, Pac,â Cellbit states although whatever else he says was drowned out in Fitâs brain as he locks eyes with Pac for the first time in over a decade.
This couldnât be happening⌠right? This was all a weird fucked up dream.
âPai!â Richarlyson runs up to meet Pac pulling him into a hug that disrupts Pacâs eyes from looking into Fitâs as Pac hugs Richarlyson back âOlha pro braço do cara novo! Ele disse que o filho dele que fez, igual vocĂŞ fez minha perna!"â
And the nightmare gets worse as the realization dawns on him that not only has he disturbed his Exâs peace half way across the country, but that Pacâs husband is his employer. âThatâs just greatâ, Fit thinks.
Fit adjusts his shirt some and finally averts his gaze. Yep, he only feels the shirt in his right hand, heâs wide awake.
âDo you two know each other?â he hears Cellbit ask as the world goes back into focus.
âOh uh, yea we did.. once..â Fit responds, not daring to lie
âDon't worry about itâ Pac adds âit was a while ago.â But Pacâs face hides nothing in this moment. He's not happy. âI'm going back to fixing the guest houseâ And Pac kisses the top of Richarlysonâs head before walking off.
Without his permission, Fitâs eyes follow Pac .
If Cellbit knows what's happening he saves Fit the embarrassment of making it clear. âCome on. You're probably tired from all the driving. Letâs go get you two settledâ
He pats Fitâs back hard enough to bring his attention back to the present and helps them get their bags before he leads him and Ramon inside. Pepito is coloring at the table and Ramon smiles and waves as they pass.
Cellbit leads them upstairs and to a room that's the most separated from the rest on that floor. âCom licença, I need to get the door unlockedâ
He counts five bedroom doors and one labeled bathroom plus the one him and Ramon will be sharing for the time being and Fit starts trying to work out who they belong to. Just to keep his bearings. Only two of the doors actually seem to lock so one is probably Cellbit and Pac's while the other probably belongs to the other ranchhand he hasnât met yet. One of the doors has a little pillow on the outside meant for teeth when parents don't want to risk waking their kids up by going under the pillow. That's probably Pepitoâs. One of the blank doorâs is probably Richarlysonâs but then who's the other belong to?
Cellbit finally managed to unlock the door, âEntendi!â He hands the key to Fit. Cellbit holds the door for Ramon and Fit as they shuffle in and put their bags to the side. It was a nice room, Decently decorated, there was a photo of an older gentleman labeled âAlfredoâ on the bedside table that caused Cellbit to sigh "ai meu Deus...â he rolled his eyes and grabbed it âsorry I thought I cleared all the photos out, my husband must have snuck back in here and left this as a joke.â
Fit nodded not getting the joke himself âNo worries. Thank you so much again for this. You have no clue what this means to meâ
âOf course, of course, veterans have to look out for eachother.â Cellbit shrugged âand honestly you're saving my ass, we really need the helpâ
Fit nods and Cellbit leaves them to unpack
âThat guy, Richarlysonâs other Pai.. you knew him, more then you let on.â Fit looked to Ramon âdidn't you?â
Fit paused but before he could answer he was getting a call and used that as an excuse to avoid the question âone sec Ramon, Hello?â
âHey Fit, haven't heard from you since you left just making sure you're safe.â It was Phil, he could have checked he just forgot.
âOh yea⌠things are good⌠We got here safe, everyone's been niceâŚâ Fit nodded
âSeeing Pac bothered you more then you thought it would huh?â Phil hummed sympathetically
âYou knew?!â Fit demanded
â I told you! How did you miss that!?â Phil demanded back
Fit paused and the more he thought about it the more of that conversation felt like a blur âYou-!⌠you⌠probably didâŚâ Fit sighed âyea it shocked meâŚâ
Fit could hear Phil frown âI'm sorry Mate.., would you have not gone if you realized?â
Fit thought about it âno I would have⌠just would have been nice to be more prepared, it's my own fault I didn't pay attentionâ he chuckled. Ramon sat down on the bed testing its comfort.
Phil hummed âyea kinda is.â He said in his usual smug tone that at least caused Fit to laugh âbut seriously, you going to be alright? It's a big changeâ
âYea weâll be alright don't you worryâ Fit assured
âAlright, just remember if you need to talk-â
âI know I knowâ Fit interrupted âalright old man get back to your kids and let me get back to mineâ
Phil scoffed to hide his laugh âyea whatever. Talk soonâ
âTalk soonâ and Fit hung up
Ramon looked up at him âdidn't youâ he repeated less a question and more of a reminder.
Fit frowned âwell if you have to know, Drama Queen, yes I did. But it doesn't matter. Please drop it.â
Ramon seemed unsatisfied with the answer but shrugged âfine, that picture of the old guy was a really weird joke though right?â
Fit smiled âtotally weird. Also âAlfredoâ?â
Ramon chuckled and nodded âdouble weirdâ
Fit chuckled back.
Things just seemed to get complicated whereever Fit goes. But maybe this time⌠maybe this time things will just be okay.

"Louisrock" July 7, 2024
I had a friend who lives in Turku where Ruisrock is held, so as soon as I saw that Louis would play it (back in November,) I contacted my friend to see if she would be home - she said yes! I bought an early bird ticket to the festival and had my lodging all set, so then I just needed an airplane ticket from California to Helsinki and a rental car. I then found out another friend (from the same fandom as my Turku friend) was going to Ruisrock as well, to see Käärijä, who as it happens was playing on the same stage as Louis but 2 hours ahead of him, so I had a friend to go to the concert with me! Normally I have to see Louis by my lonesome because none of my friends are in the 1D fandom, but it's okay because Louies are the nicest friendliest people out there and I am never short of new friends to scream all the words to Louis' songs with at the concerts. IMO this is the very best thing about being a Louie -- all the other Louies!
We got to the festival site two hours before doors opened so we would be sure to be toward the front. All the festival signs were in Finnish and my friend is Swedish and I'm American, so we had to rely on the locals to translate for us. I'm old and slow so I wasn't able to run when the time came, but by the time I got through the gates and located the line for Louis' show, I was only about 50 people back. The festival was INCREDIBLY well organized, clearing out each stage area after each performance so the people who had lined up for a specific artist could have a good chance of getting a good spot. And thanks so their expertise in handling crowds, I was able to maintain my position in line without having to run and thus got a spot at barricade! Thank you Ruisrock organizers and security *thumbs up*
I will mention that while waiting in line for 6 hours we were comfortable and there was a breeze and no rain. We also got to listen to Blind Channel and Käärijä's shows which were pretty hard-hitting and all in Finnish - the best part about that was all the Finns surrounding us joining in to yell the lyrics and pogo along to their favorite songs. The energy was amazing and I'm sure the other foreigners in line with me were appreciating the Finnish love of live music as I was. Don't forget we also got the Oli walk-by which was funny because he acted as though he was just passing us to get to the food stalls, but then he came back a few minutes later with no food and acting just as nonchalantly, so clearly he was there to check us out and report back. You go, Oli! Be sure to tell Louis what in idiot he is if he thinks we're not going to show up. Faith in the Fans, maybe?
Back to barricade: I had a spot right next to the staircase Louis would use to come off stage for Silver Tongues, and I took quite a few videos and photos although most of the songs are partial recordings and the pictures are basic iphone quality, but here's a link to all of my files in a Google folder. Please enjoy! Do with these as you wish :-)
Some observations I made while enjoying my 7th Louis show was that Joshua would run to a certain side of the stage, Louis would catch sight of him, and then he would head to that side of the stage... so it was almost like Joshua was calling the shots of where Louis should "pose." It also clued me in to start recording whenever Joshua came to our side because I knew Louis would follow - I got some great shots of Louis looking our way which I choose to believe were him looking at ME ;-) I also noticed that Steve would put a drumstick in his mouth to adjust something on his set mid-song, which I hadn't noticed before. And of course Michael and Matt were always heading to the center stage to join Steve in "getting down" which was fun to see. It would be great to see Louis playing the guitar and jamming with them, but then it would be harder for him to interact with the fans...
One of my favorite live show elements is the Baba O'Reilly mash up in WDBHG so I was very happy that Louis walked over and pointed my way when he sang it - so excited in fact, that my video suffered accordingly, but oh well. I didn't get lucky with him coming to our side of the barricade but hopefully at some show in the future I will. Faith in the Future!
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Love you guys -

Duck Comic Reading Club Week 9: Ducks on the Road
This one, I wanted to read it for some time now. It was my first time reading something with Dickie Duck, and it didn't disappoint.
In fact, I loved it. It was the kind of story that I enjoy the most, a fun slice-of-life style story, with and excelent cast.
We start, with the star⌠Dickie Duck.
I love her. She can be a bit annoying and selfish, but her positivism, her heart, her attitude, her passion, make her a lovable character. That's the most important thing in this kind of story.
The characters need to work, and Dickie does. She is the heart and soul of Ducks on the Road.
Daisy, on the other hand, is the voice of reason. Grounded, mature and supportive. She's like an older sister for Dickie.
Also, her design here is amazing. She looks so good. Is right there with her DT17 design.
Lastly, we have Gyro. This is the first time I read something with him as a protagonist. He was really likeable, someone you would definitely get behind. His design is also amazing.
Those three are the reason why this comic works.
Gyro, the great friend.
The plot, there's almost no plot. Dickie wants to go to a big audition and they're taking the road, all the way to California.
The first issue was an introduction to our main cast, and the preparations for the trip. Also, Dickie did some awesome paint job on the van.
I love what she did on it. But it was a rental...
For book 2 we had the group helping a couple of stranger that happen to be burglars.
I love that song.
This one use a formula, go to a place, the new guys steal whatever they can, the groups leave. Repeat.
Daisy expressions here are so funny.
The burglars manage to escape, and even take the van wheels with them. Thank God it was ensured.
For book three, our heroes are stuck in the snow and have to spend the night at a suspicious hotel.
I love that song even more.
This one has some Shining vibes, and you're so sure that they're in a ghost hotel. But, turns out that they're sentient holographics. I didn't expect that.
Oh God, she's gorgeous.
For book four, Dickie found a message in a bottle and decides she wants to help whoever wrote that message.
I love that song, but not as much as Hotel California.
In this one, I think we have Dickie at her worst, taking a dangerous detour and believing blindly in the word of some guy she found.
But, to give her credit, that decision helped two lonely souls. Good job Dickie.
And, for the final book, we made it to California.
I don't like that song.
When they're so close to their destination, the van breaks. Daisy and Dickie got in a truck, while Gyro fixes the van. The truck was a circus truck, and Daisy stays with them to help them with ther money problems.
That leaves Dickie by herself. She runs to the audition, but is too late. She missed it.
So, she does what she knows best. She sings. And of course, the Rocking Ducks ear her.
Not only that, they're so impress that they made her part of the band. That's it, Dickie Duck will be a star.
I loved that the owner of the circus, and manager of the Rocking Ducks turned out to be no other than Scrooge McDuck himself. I didn't knew he was on this one, so it was a good surprise.
Daisy is a fashion icon.
The group spent the night at Donald's house. Another nice surprise.
Daisy and Gyro are ready to return to Virginia, when suddenlyâŚ
Dickie is back. She decided to not join the band. Now, we all knew she was gonna reject the band. This stories are always this way.
Dickie started as a dreamer, that only cared about her goals. But the trip help her realizes that, what she really wanted was by her side all this time.
Gyro gives his final presentation, and is a success. But he has a final surpriseâŚ
I told you, Dickie was going to be a star.
Gyro, you smoth rascal.
Dickie got a bit overwhelmed, but, with John Lennon's Love in the background, she reaches Gyro.
What I can say? I loved this ending. I loved.
I'm sorry, but I love romance in my Duck media. This ending was made for me.
It was great. I loved the characters, I loved the art, the story was a bit plane, but I liked it.
I'm a Dickie Duck fan from now on.

Joel Miller Caught Kissing Actress After Date: Everything We Know About Her
Hollywood's Newest Power Couple?
Joel Miller Has A New Boo, And We're All A Bit Jealous
Who is Joel Miller's Newest Girl? Everything Their Waitress Told Us About Their Secret Romantic Date
Pictures of you and Joel making out against your front door are everywhere. You can barely log onto Instagram without being bombarded with DM's, comments, and tags in news articles about you two. Melanie even texted you with several headlines attached and a "Great job, kid!" Even your mom texted you about it. Granted, it was a screenshot of a Buzzfeed post, and all she sent you was a bunch of question marks, but she texted you. You try to put it out of your mind by leaving your phone in your trailer when you go to set instead of handing it off to a PA.
You decide that Joel Miller isn't worth more brain power than absolutely necessary. He has his own life, and you doubt he's thinking about you, and if he is, it's probably plotting his next reputation-saving move. The only thing you can do is work, make the best movie possible, and move on with your life until he summons you for another contractually obligated date. It's only a few months. You can make it, right?
You were asking the director about a scene, script in hand, when Ryan strolled up to you with a mischievous look. You ignore him and listen to Greta give you notes and ideas for the next movie sequence. He waits for you to be done with the conversation, like a third grader, before grabbing your arm and pulling you toward him.Â
"Why didn't you tell me you were seeing Joel Miller?" He asks, and you laugh. He walks you to a more secluded part of set, hiding from eavesdropping extras and chatty interns as they set the sound stage for the next scene.Â
"It didn't seem relevant to work."
"Not relevant? This is huge," he says, somehow more excited about this than you are, and you cross your arms over your chest. "You haven't dated at all since you made it big."
"Okay, that's not true."
"Really? Before last night, when was the last time you went on a date with anyone? Famous or not?" He asks. You open your mouth to answer, but your brain short circuits as you search through your memories. You're ninety percent sure that your last date was with the guy you had a showmance with before you moved to California. He was tall, handsome, and full of himself just like every other actor. You vaguely remember telling him you booked your first movie with A24, and he said you didn't have the "right look" for A24. Last you heard, he was living with five other roommates in the Meatpacking District back in New York.
"Okay, so maybe it's been a while," you admit, and he raises his eyebrows at you. "Please, don't make this a thing. I've already had enough people clawing at me for answers about it, and I'm exhausted."
"Fine, fine, but you have to promise you'll go out for drinks with me and Carolina on Friday. She's been dying to make couple friends, and I need to make sure he's good for you."Â
"You don't need to do anything, but sure. I'll talk to him and see what he thinks." You say, and he smiles. Before he can grill you any further, your names are called over the intercom, announcing that they're ready for you, and you silently thank whatever god is out there for getting you out of that situation. You and Ryan walk back to the sound stage and get flanked by people from makeup who need to touch you up and frantic ADs who repeat the same notes the director already gave you. You swear if their heads weren't attached to their necks, they'd run around looking for them at all hours.
You do several takes of the same scene, yet another scene of your characters arguing, this time about what they'll do now that your character is pregnant. Ryan progressively gets more despondent as he sinks into his character, frustrating you as his scene partner and the pregnant woman you're playing. After about two hours of running the same scene over and over again, you're at your wit's end and need to do something different. Everyone on set freezes when you shove at Ryan's shoulders and force him to look you in the eyes for the first time since you started filming. The entire scene shifts as you continue to push at him, tears unexpectedly falling from your eyes as you beg him to say something. It hurts more when he walks out the door without looking back. When Greta cuts, Ryan all but runs back in the door and wraps you in a big hug.
"You're gonna break my heart if you keep doing that!" He says, and you laugh as you wipe away your tears. You watch the scene back together, and jump up and down at how much better it flows. It feels like you're watching magic. Times like this remind you why you became an actor in the first place.Â
You film a few more scenes before breaking for the night. Your body hurts from carrying so much emotion as you walk into your trailer to gather your things to go home. You barely grazed the door, dinner plans already filling your head, when your phone buzzed in your back pocket. It's a text from an unsaved number, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out who it's from.Â
The lipstick on the collar was a nice touch, he writes, and you sigh.Â
That almost sounds like a compliment, Miller, you shoot back.
You're not even halfway to your car when your phone buzzes with another text from Joel.
Paul is really happy with how everything's going. He said he wants us to see each other again before I go back to Texas.
Good timing because my costar practically begged me to go on a double date with him and his wife.
We're already in double-date territory? How official.
Har har. How's Friday night sound?
Sounds like Paul is going to be very happy.
That makes one of us.
The rest of the week flies by with you dodging the online chatter about you and Joel somewhat successfully, but Ryan keeps reminding you how excited he is to hang out with you and your new "boy toy," as he has affectionately nicknamed Joel. You hate it, but he thinks it's funnier that way, so he just keeps calling him that. You swear Ryan was your annoying older brother in another life.Â
You're curling your hair when he texts you a cute picture of him and his wife in the car with the message, "Ready to interrogate JM." You laugh and return to messing with your hair, mentally going through every possibility that tonight could bring. You're wearing a pink tank top and jeans with pink heels. Nothing super fancy, but it's definitely more dressed down than your first date with Joel. You debate on which necklace to wear and wrap the final piece of hair around your curling iron when your front door opens.
Joel calls your name as he shuts the door behind him. You almost throw the hot iron down as you step into the hallway to face him. He's wearing a black shirt with a matching black leather jacket and jeans. He looks you up and down unapologetically, and you roll your eyes.
"Who told you you could just walk into my house?" You ask as you duck into the bathroom again. He leans against the doorway, crossing his arms over his chest as he watches you spray your hair to help it withstand the California heat.
"Hello to you too, darlin'."Â
"Don't call me that."
"Why not?"
"Because I don't want you to."
"So, what can I call you?" He asks with a smirk pulling on his lips. You grab your bag off the counter and move to leave the bathroom, but he doesn't budge. You huff as you look up at him.
"Move."
"Answer the question." He says. You think about pushing him out of the way, but he's broad and has those strong guitarist arms and probably wouldn't even flinch. You copy his stance as you rack your brain for an acceptable answer.
"Well, you could start with just my name," you say, and he laughs. "But other than that, I don't know."
"Baby?" He suggests, and you almost gag.
"Absolutely not."
"Which do you hate more? Darlin' or baby?"
"Baby."
"Alright, then, darlin'," he says, stepping out of your way. You scoff and walk past him into the hallway. "You know, you really should get a dog or somethin'. It's not safe for you to just leave your door unlocked like that."
"Oh, with all the psychos running around my neighborhood? I can handle myself but thank you for your input." You say, and he laughs as you do one last sweep of your living room to make sure you didn't forget anything. Once again, Joel opens your front door and the passenger side door of his car for you. You can say many things about Joel Miller, but one thing you can't say is that he's not a gentleman. You think it has something to do with his Texas upbringing, or it might just be a testament to the kind of woman his mother is. You don't say anything the whole way to the restaurant, saving up your mental energy to deal with him for the whole night, and he doesn't fight you on it.
When you get there, you can see Ryan waiting near the host stand through the windows, obviously ready to escort you and Joel to the table. You're surprised that the sidewalk isn't flanked by photographers, but you take it as a good sign. Joel parks the car and reaches for your hand as he locks it. You almost smack it away before remembering you're in public and take it in yours. The smooth ring on his middle finger is cool and smooth, a stark contrast to his calloused palms. Ryan lights up when you two step through the doors, and he quickly wraps you in a warm hug. He introduces himself to Joel and holds his hand out for a handshake which Joel reciprocates.Â
When he walks you to the table set for four, Carolina smiles and stands to hug you and Joel in true Carolina fashion. Joel doesn't hesitate to pat her back and smile as Ryan jokes about having two of the prettiest women in the restaurant sitting at his table.
"Sorry, I'm a hugger," Carolina says as you sit across from them. Joel lays an arm across the back of your chair like this is a perfectly normal thing he does all the time.
"That's alright, ma'am. I don't mind." He says, and Carolina gives you a look.
"Ma'am? I like him already." She says, and you laugh.Â
Joel settles into the dynamic between the three of you easily and listens as Ryan tells stories from set and press events. It's no small feat that you let Joel meet two of the most important people in your life, and even though you didn't tell him to be, he's on his best behavior. He doesn't try to annoy you or do anything inappropriate in front of them. He compliments Carolina, calling her ma'am even after she told him he didn't have to, and exchanges dude-bro stories with Ryan all night. Except for the arm on your chair, he doesn't make any affectionate moves which you're grateful for.Â
With Ryan and Carolina there, it almost feels normal. It could also be your third glass of wine helping you relax too. Ryan makes a snarky comment about your drinking, to which you flip him off. "I'd be drinking too if I had to work with you all week!" Carolina says. Ryan feigns a blow to the chest, and she smacks his shoulder. "Did he tell you that Elizabeth started calling you Ryan's movie wife?" She asks, and you laugh.
"God, I hope she doesn't repeat that at school. Otherwise, you," you point at Ryan. "Are going to have a lot to explain to that poor teacher."
"Who's Elizabeth?" Joel asks as you take a bite of food. You hum to let him know you'll answer in a second, but Carolina beats you to it.
"Elizabeth is our daughter."
"And my goddaughter," you jump in. "She's the best kid in the world."
"Well, of course, you think that because you're not there for bedtime," Ryan says, and you roll your eyes.
"You're just mad because she's as stubborn as you are."
"That is... not entirely untrue."Â
You spend the rest of the dinner laughing and messing with each other. You even catch yourself leaning into Joel's side because he's so warm and comfortable, and the wine is making you deliriously happy. When the bill is placed on the table, you all fight over who gets to pay until Carolina chucks Ryan's card at the waiter. Joel holds his hand over the table, and Ryan shakes it in a form of masculine affection. "You really didn't have to do that, man," Joel says. "Next dinner is on me, alright?" He could be saying it to save face, but the idea that Joel likes Ryan and Carolina makes something in your chest feel warm and fuzzy.
Ryan practically carries Carolina to the car so they can relinquish the nanny for the night, but you and Joel go upstairs to the rooftop bar. You reason that it's high enough to hide from paparazzi, and you also needed an excuse to get some fresh air. You both order water and perch on a couch in the corner. At first, you don't say anything. Not because you're mad at him but because you're worried you'll ruin the night if you do. However, you don't need to exchange words for Joel to see you shivering and put his jacket over your shoulders. You smile and turn to look at him.
"This is the second time you've given me your jacket."
"Want me to stop?" He asks, genuinely curious, and you shake your head. A soft smile takes over his features, and you have to look away before you get sucked in.Â
"What'd you think of Ryan and Carolina?" You ask as you take a sip of water. His arm rests behind you again, and he adjusts to get more comfortable.
"I really liked 'em. They seem like good people."
"They are. Ryan and I were friends before I even moved to LA," you say. "I think they liked you too."
"Yeah?" He asks, and you nod. You meet his eyes again and hope he can see your sincerity.
"Yeah. Thanks for not being a total dick to them." You say, and he laughs. He puts his water on the table in front of you before reaching across you to dig into his jacket pocket. This close, you can smell the detergent he washed his shirt with and see the freckles faintly littering his skin. He doesn't break eye contact with you as he pulls a pack of Marlboro Reds and a lighter out of his jacket before relaxing into his spot again. Maybe it's the wine in your system or the joy from the night still filtering through your skull, but you don't take your eyes off him as he lights a cigarette. The ember glows brighter as he takes a drag and turns away from you to exhale. His jawline is sharp, and his neck looks especially pretty as he takes a breath.
"What're you thinkin' bout, pretty girl?" He asks, breaking your train of thought, and you smirk as you lean forward. His eyes drop to the neckline of your tank top, giving you the perfect opportunity to snatch the cigarette out of his hand and put it to your lips. He watches as you take a drag, your lipstick staining the filter, and exhale with a sigh.
"Thinking bout you."
"Me?" He raises his eyebrows as you pass him the cigarette back. His thumb traces your lipstick stain before he puts it back in his mouth. "What about me?"
"About how stupid this whole situation is," you gesture vaguely around you. "About how we really shouldn't be so mean to each other."Â
"You're a sentimental drunk," he says, passing you the cigarette without acknowledging it, and you smile. It really wouldn't be that hard to pull another cigarette out of his pack for you, but he doesn't. Your fingers graze his as you take it, flicking the ash to the side. He waits until you blow smoke out of your nose to mess with the sleeves of his shirt and nod. "But, maybe you're right."
"Oh, say it again." You say, and he gives you a look. You pass the cigarette back even though about half of it is burned down from you two sharing it. His long drags don't help salvage it.
"I really shouldn't have said what I said bout you sleepin' with people to get famous. That was really fucked up, and I'm sorry."Â
"It was really fucked up. And unoriginal. And fucking stupid. And completely untrue," you say, and he looks a little worried. "But, thank you for apologizing." He nods and offers you the last little bit of glowing cigarette.Â
"Can we call a truce?"Â
"A truce?"
"Yeah. We'll stop goin' out of our way to make each other's life fuckin' miserable and move on. Maybe at the end of this, we could even be friends." He says, and you take a deep breath as you take the cigarette from him.Â
"You always make peace agreements with nicotine?"Â
"You're my first, pretty girl."
There's that fucking nickname again. It's better than darling, and you should hate it, but the way he says it makes your head swim. You inhale the last drag and stub it out in the ashtray next to your water as you try to get your thoughts under control again. You catch the bartender looking over at you and Joel, and an uneasy feeling crawls up your spine. You swallow it down and look at Joel.
"I'll agree to a truce." You say, smoke leaving your mouth as you talk, and he smiles.Â
"Should we shake on it?" He asks. You glance between him and the bartender and scoot closer to him. His eyes flick from yours to your lips and back up to your eyes.
"I would say yes," you whisper. "But, I think that bartender figured out who we are."
"So, what should we do instead?" He asks, his voice so low that you almost miss it over your own heartbeat. You want to roll your eyes at how stupid his question is but kiss him instead. His hands come up to your jaw, and you wrap your hand around his wrist to keep him there. There are traces of nicotine and tequila on his lips, but you can't focus on it too hard before his teeth graze your bottom lip. He swallows your gasp and soothes the sudden pain with his tongue. You would push him away and yell at him if it didn't feel so good. You canât help but wonder what his mouth would feel like on your neck or your thighs. You wonder what pretty girl would sound like in between pants and broken moans. You wonder if heâd leave bruises on your inner thighs for you to find in the morning. The thoughts startle you out of the moment, and you pull away from him, turning to kiss the inside of his wrist.Â
"'M getting tired. Can you take me home?" You ask. He looks like a kicked puppy but nods anyway. He holds your hand the whole way down the stairs, through the restaurant, and to the car. You make shitty small talk the whole way back to your house like nothing happened, but you're grateful to have moved past the suffocating uncomfortable silence. He taps on his steering wheel again and changes the station when his own song comes on the radio, making you laugh. When he pulls into your driveway, you linger for a moment and look at him through the darkness. "Thank you for being so nice to my friends."Â
"I really did like 'em," he says. You pick at your nailbeds as you try to find a way to apologize for abruptly ending the evening. You feel bad for some reason. You were actually having a good time together, and then you made it weird. "Can I walk you to your door?" He asks, and you take a deep breath.
"I think I can get myself inside. Thank you, though."
"Welcome." He says as you unbuckle your seatbelt and open the door. Joel's jacket shifts around you, and you suddenly remember that you're still wearing it.
"Oh, here. Let me give you your jacket back before I forget."
"Don't worry about it." He waves you off, and you furrow your eyebrows at him.
"What do you mean don't worry about it? I'm not gonna steal your jacket, Joel."
"You're not stealin' it. You're just borrowin' it, right? I bet tabloids will eat it up if they see you wearin' it," he says. "Besides, it looks better on you anyways." You laugh and shake your head as you adjust your purse on your shoulder.Â
"Goodnight, Joel."
"G'night, pretty girl." He says. You shut the door and walk up the sidewalk to your front door, secretly cursing that stupid fucking nickname and how weak in the knees it makes you. His car lingers in the driveway until he sees you unlock the door and flicker the front lights at him, letting him know you got in safely. He honks twice before pulling away and driving off into the night.
You make a point to lock your door behind you and lean against it. You let out a shaky breath like it will expel his voice from your head and jump when your phone buzzes in your back pocket. When you pull it out, a bright text from Melanie stares back at you.
Two dates in a row?! You're killing it! This will be over before you know it <3
And attached to her scarily cheerful text is a picture of you and Joel kissing. It's blurry and obviously taken from far away, but it's there nonetheless. You pinch the bridge of your nose and send her a thumbs-up emoji before sending Ryan a "made it home" text and turning your phone off. The image of Joel's teeth scraping your bottom lip burns into your eyelids as you close your eyes and try to figure out where the fuck you go from here.Â

Unconditional: lyrics
Well, for once we have lyrics fully in English, so we can be sure there are no mistakes in translation from Korean.
Preface.
I believe, at least for now, at the start of Jaehyun's soloist career and his first steps into songwriting, we can be sure he writes about his own experiences, or he agrees with lyrics created by others that resonate with him personally. a) He said so himself in an interview (how he used the feelings he felt and the pictures he took as inspiration for writing), b) in the past he referenced/played on repeat songs that matched the current situation of his relationship with Doyoung, c) so far, all the themes from his solo songs and songs from "J" matched what we can observe about Jaehyun and his onlook on Doyoung.
In other words, even if Jaehyun sings about a girl from California (an imagined scenario, never happened) it will be about "it was destiny" and "lets stay together till death do us part" and not about picking up chicks for a one night stand or having girlfriends around the world.
Met this girl from California, something 'bout her aura Got me good at sticking around Sendâ
aâ
shout out toâ
her mama, raising up a queen
Tbh, I think it's Taneasha's part. Jaehyun is close with mama Kim though.
'Causeâ
damn, she is the woman, no doubt Who got fire taste? Dominate When she on that paper chase
"Paper chase" can't be Jae's lyrics as well. Too slangy. Yet, we know a bunny who is constantly working and earning money (with the nickname "young money"), who dominates all sides of showbusiness.
Skip the drama, double dutch She's an eight rounded up
And we continue with slang. "Double dutch" is 1) "talk or writing that is nonsense or that you cannot understand" and 2) "a game played by jumpimg up and down through two ropes that are being turned by two people holding the ends"
"rounded up 8"="10" (like in math 5.8->6)
Considering the lyrics about "A-list" later, the love interest is not perfectly beautiful by the usual standarts, but sure is in Jaehyun's eyes.
I've been falling since the day I made her mine Oh, we locked all the way, yeah
We can see that. Lemonade, she's golden She deservĐľs to be loved with no limit out loud
This looks to be written by Jae. (as well as the previous part)
I just, I just bought my baby Prada Got another for hĐľr, straight from the store Fly her 'round the world so she can hang by the shore That's my baby, thatâs my sugar I don't need no honey on the side
By Hyun this time? Hyun and Jae? Heh. Another style here.
That's unconditiona-nal For her, I'd break the law, just take me straight to the court Buy a billion roses and I'd still get her more
This sound like Jae again. Jae is ready to go to the end of the world for his love interest.
She's fine, she's mine, I gotta praise the Lord This thing, we got's That's unconditiona-nal She's fine, she's mine, I gotta praise the Lord This thing, we got's That's unconditiona-nal
Reminds me
"You wanna be mine, baby (Roses) I said you wanna be mine, baby (Roses)"
Baby, I'm just gonna say it, not even an A-list Can turn my head from where it is now I'm rocking through the stages 'til we're old and gray Ain't afraid to say it loud (Loud)
Also sounds like Jae. An image of sailing from one stage to another till old age. Not clear here if it is a stage of life or music stages.
That's unconditiona-nal
Jaehyun's love is complete and not limited in any way. Pure love, given without asking for anything in return.
--------------
OK. Lets list the possible references: lemonade (lemonade mate), met in California (Lost in California), meerkats (in the MV), idol life (music stages), paper chase (pursue of money and career), golden (Golden light?), gifting Prada (the bag Do got and paraded around), hang by the shore (Doyoung likes the sea), rounded up 8/(not) A-list (Do doesn't think he is idol handsome), Jaehyun not being afraid to love confess/flirt/compliment.
The theme: found the one, continues to fall in love deeper, ready to break the law and spend the rest of his life together, wants to talk about his love openly. The same theme as in most other songs by Jae.

"Nature Boy" was Nat King Cole's first big hit, since then it has been covered over 1223 times! The story behind the song is even more sensational
Joe Moondad has the strange story of eden ahbez:
"In the late 40s, there was a rumor that there was a "hermit," disenchanted and disillusioned with the world, supposedly "out-of-sync" with society, living in California in a cave under one of the Lâs in the Hollywood sign.
No one really cared about this strange man, until one night in 1947, when someone tried to enter backstage at the Lincoln Theater in Los Angeles. Nat King Cole was playing there, and the man said he had something for Cole. Of course, the employees didn't let the strange man see Cole, so he gave whatever he had with Cole's manager.
What he had was a song sheet, which Cole would later take a look at. Cole liked the song and wanted to record it, but he had to find the strange man. When asked, the people who saw the man said he was strange, indeed, with shoulder-length hair and beard, wearing sandals and a white robe.
Cole finally tracked him down in New York City. When Cole asked him where he was staying, the strange man declared he was staying at the best hotel in New York - outside, literally, in Central Park. He said his name was eden ahbez (spelled all in lower-case letters). The song he gave Cole was titled, "Nature Boy." It became Cole's first big hit, and was soon covered by other artists through the years, from Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan to Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, most recently.
Of course, the media went crazy about the strange, mysterious man who handed Nat King Cole, one of the biggest hits during that time. Everyone went out to try to find out more about him.
What little they found was that he was once an orphan, who never stayed at one place very long, living in various foster homes. He explained he just never fit in and was always searching, for something.
["They say he wandered very far...
Very far, over land and sea..."
They found out he would hop freight trains and walked across country several times, subsisting solely on raw fruits and vegetables, then one day he completely vanished.
["A little shy and sad of eye...
But very wise was he..."]
He finally showed up again in the Hollywood hills. When a policeman stopped the strange, long-haired man with beard, sandals, and robe, ahbez simply replied, "I look crazy but I'm not. And the funny thing is that other people don't look crazy but they are."
["And then one day...
One magic day he passed my way..."]
He then showed up backstage at Nat King Cole's concert in Los Angeles, to present him with the song, "Nature Boy." No one seems to really know why he selected Cole, there were some rumors that he came out of hiding when he began to hear about the racism going on and trouble throughout the world, and he thought "King" was the best person at that time to pass his message along.
["While we spoke of many things...
Fools and Kings..."]
When he was asked about racism, he replied, "Some white people hate black people, and some white people love black people, some black people hate white people, and some black people love white people. So you see it's not an issue of black and white, it's an issue of Lovers and Haters."
It was that theme of love that he continued to talk about, what was missing in the world, and what would be needed in the future if we are to survive.
ahbez would eventually get his message out, especially after the counter-culture finally caught up with him and the hippie movement began, when other artists such as Donovan, Grace Slick, and the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson sought him out. He also wrote songs for Eartha Kitt and had another song recorded by Sam Cooke.
In 2009, Congressman Bill Aswad recited the last lyrics of the song before the Vermont House of Representatives at the passing of his state's same-sex marriage bill in '09.
Author Raymond Knapp described the track as a "mystically charged vagabond song" whose lyrics evoked an intense sense of loss and haplessness, with the final line delivering a universal truth, described by Knapp as "indestructible" and "salvaged somehow from the perilous journey of life."
["This he said to me...
The greatest thing you'll ever learn...
Is just to love and be loved in return."]
"George Alexander Aberle (April 15, 1908 â March 4, 1995), known as eden ahbez, was an American songwriter and recording artist of the 1940s to 1960s, whose lifestyle in California was influential in the hippie movement.
He was known to friends simply as ahbe.
Ahbez composed the song "Nature Boy", which became a No. 1 hit for eight weeks in 1948 for Nat "King" Cole.
Living a bucolic life from at least the 1940s, he traveled in sandals and wore shoulder-length hair and beard, and white robes. He camped out below the first L in the Hollywood Sign above Los Angeles and studied Oriental mysticism. He slept outdoors with his family and ate vegetables, fruits, and nuts. He claimed to live on three dollars per week.
In the mid-1950s, he wrote songs for Eartha Kitt, Frankie Laine, and others, as well as writing some rock-and-roll novelty songs. In 1957, his song "Lonely Island" was recorded by Sam Cooke, becoming the second and final Ahbez composition to hit the Top 40.
In 1959, he began recording instrumental music, which combined his signature somber tones with exotic arrangements and (according to the record sleeve) "primitive rhythms". He often performed bongo, flute, and poetry gigs at beat coffeehouses in the Los Angeles area. In 1960, he recorded his only solo LP, Eden's Island, for Del-Fi Records.
This mixed beatnik poetry with exotica arrangements. Ahbez promoted the album through a coast-to-coast walking tour making personal appearances, but it sold poorly.
During the 1960s, ahbez released five singles. Grace Slick's band, the Great Society, recorded a version of "Nature Boy" in 1966 and ahbez was photographed in the studio with Brian Wilson during a session for the Smile album in early 1967. Later that year, British singer Donovan sought out ahbez in Palm Springs, and the two wanderers shared a reportedly "near-telepathic" conversation. In the 1970s, Big Star's Alex Chilton recorded a version of "Nature Boy" with the photographer William Eggleston on piano. The song was finally released as a bonus track on the 1992 Rykodisc re-release of the album Third/Sister Lovers.
In 1974, ahbez was reported to be living in the Los Angeles suburb of Sunland, and he owned a record label named Sunland Records, for which he was recording under the name "Eden Abba." From the late 1980s until his death, ahbez worked closely with Joe Romersa, an engineer/drummer in Los Angeles. The master tapes, photos, and final works of eden ahbez are in Romersa's possession.
Ahbez died on March 4, 1995, of injuries sustained in a car accident, at the age of 86. Another album, Echoes from Nature Boy, was released posthumously."

Bucktommy breakup (arc) mix
I started making this playlist pretty much right after 8x06 in order to cope with all the feelings, first just throwing together some songs, later structuring them into their own little emotional arc. Prepare for all the stages of grief but with a generous sprinkle of love, more than a few winks, nods and references, and a dash of hope for reconciliation at the end. Song list with lyric highlights below. Bon appetit!
(There's a couple of references and half-jokes hidden here and there, so let me know if you catch those. Also if you're curious at all about any of my choices or why a certain song is included, please ask me. I love yapping about this shit and have 100% overthought this playlist a million times.)
--
Built to Break (Glitterfox) - Every thread is bound to fray / I can't outrun the ending
if this was a movie.. (Kacey Musgraves) - If this was a movie / You'd run up the stairs / You'd hold my face / Say we're being stupid / And we'd fall back into place
Plain Sailing Weather (Frank Turner) - This was supposed to be easy / I found the one damn person to help me fall asleep in the night
Smalltown Boy [Bronski Beat cover] (Orville Peck) - But the answers you seek will never be found at home / The love that you need will never be found at home / Run away, turn away, run away, turn away
Scared (Joywave) - I wanna touch you but I'm scared / I really love you though, I swear / I had another nightmare / Covered in sweat and unprepared / I woke and you weren't there
La da da (Glitterfox) - I don't know what to say / My head gets in the way / I don't know what to feel / Only learned to conceal
Let Me Drown (Orville Peck) - I swear there's good things that are coming your way / And I can't be the one left here, dragging you down
Stick Season (Noah Kahan) - I thought that if I piled something good on all my bad / That I could cancel out the darkness I inherited from dad / Now I'm no longer funny 'cause I miss the way you laugh / You once called me forever, now you still can't call me back
Why Would You Be Loved (Hozier) - It's only said to be kind, the time that you have with love / You're never told, but you're loaned it // Why would you play it all on something as hollow as trust? / What if you gave it all to find that it wasn't enough?
San Andreas (Louise Burns) - The San Andreas fault line tells me stories from below / California misery in this angel town of gold
Feels Like a Lie (Joywave) - It'd be human to let it go someday / But I've got it stored above my rib cage
camera roll (Kacey Musgraves) - Chronological order and nothing but torture / Scroll too far back, that's what you get / I don't wanna see 'em but I can't delete 'em / It just doesn't feel right yet
How Far Will We Take It? (Orville Peck & Noah Cyrus) - I tried to love you, just couldn't break through / No getting used to living without you / 'Cause I've been waiting, don't wanna waste it / We're all alone now, how far will we take it?
Black Treacle (Arctic Monkeys) - And I tried last night to pack away your laugh / Like a key under the mat / But it never seems to be there when you want it
Recovery (Frank Turner) - I know you are a cynic, but I think I can convince you / Broken people can get better if they really want to / Or at least that's what I have to tell myself if I am hoping to survive
We Are All We Need (Joywave) - I was a boy who kept a list of everybody who wouldn't let me in / Sense of humor now about it / But there's a jadedness where love should have been
No Such Thing (Sara Bareilles) - Thin air, you're out there in it somewhere / If I could only get there / I could breathe again // I've tried to get over you / But I think there's no such thing
First Time (Hozier) - Before I heard it from your mouth / My name would always hit my ears as such an awful sound
Ever You're Gone (Orville Peck & Teddy Swims) - This anxious heart of mine / Gets me in and out of trouble so many times / And I keep losing pieces each time I try / I burned enough bridges to light my way home
Wanna Be Loved (The Red Clay Strays) - I just wanna be loved / I've been afraid and I've been alone / Sometimes I need someone to pick up the phone / I'm tired of leaving / I need a home
Timefighter (Lucy Dacus) - And I fought time / It won in a landslide
No Witnesses (Keaton Henson) - So I wrote down a list of all the things / We've never spoken of / And I wrote "Man, I hate Los Angeles" / And I've never been in love
Love is a Laserquest (Arctic Monkeys) - When I'm hanging on by the rings around my eyes / And I convince myself I need another / For a minute, it gets easier to pretend that you were just some lover
Haven't Been Doing So Well (Frank Turner) - And if self-loathing was a sport I'd be Muhammad Ali / 'Cause I can sting like a butterfly and sink like a bee / But they don't hand out medals to monsters like me
787 Dreamliner (Joywave) - I'm feeling dizzy just from the view / Got another six lives to lose / Before my final descent is through / Before I find my way back to you
Hot & Heavy (Lucy Dacus) - When I went away, it was the only option / Couldn't trust myself to proceed with caution / The most that I could give to you is nothing at all / The best that I could offer was to miss your calls
Burning House (Cam) - I had a dream about a burning house / You were stuck inside / I couldn't get you out / Laid beside you and pulled you close / And the two of us went up in smoke
Don't Keep Driving (The Paper Kites) The distance between us is half of this city / Don't keep on driving, let me say something / There's nothing wrong with a little space / But not right now, don't leave / Don't push me away
On Board (Alana Henderson & Joshua Burnside) - And if you came on board / I know you'd scan for the safety of a lighthouse blink / Any port in a storm, love / You promise you won't falter / But I know I've seen men sink
I Know (King Princess & Fiona Apple) - You can use my skin / To bury secrets in / And I will settle you down
Canyon (JOSEPH) - Take me to your darkest corner / Show me what you're trying to hide / I've got a little fear / But it's the reverent kind
Back At Your Door (Orville Peck & Debbii Dawson) - I'm sure the deadbolt's turned / But baby, if it weren't / I'd come quiet up the staircase / Slip into your arms / Like I was never gone
Watchman (Gregory Alan Isakov) - So take me however I seem to be / Haunted, I know
Francesca (Hozier) - My life was a storm since I was born / How could I fear any hurricane?
Noise in My Head (spookyghostboy) - Sit in the dark for a while / Look for your name on my phone / My thumb hovers over the button / It rings and you say, "Hello"
Orpheus (Sara Bareilles) - Don't stop trying to find me here amidst the chaos / Though I know it's blinding, there's a way out
Late To You (Keaton Henson) - All these years of running / Of running away / I've been looking for something / For something to feel this way
The Way I Tend To Be (Frank Turner) - But then I remember you / And the way you shine like truth in all you do
Saint Honesty (Sara Bareilles) - We're collecting evidence / Of one remarkable storm / How wild it was to find it, finally feel the climate / Instead of only staying dry and warm

a/n: IM SO SORRY FOR THE DELAYED POST, MY MENTAL WAS JUST NOT IN THE RIGHT PLACE TO WRITE. IT WENT LIKE THIS đđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđ
kagami sipped on his wine glass, the taste gliding along his tongue. he felt the way it burned his throat a bit but his gaze was only focused on one person. you.
rather it was the person you're talking to.
you both went to los angeles for his game that was a few days away, and a concert of the arctic monkeys the week after. not this.
you were chattering all and about, yet he could feel the way his nerves were irking as he gripped the wine glass tighter. kagami burnt holes on the back of the man's head, somewhere within himself denying what he was feeling. jealousy.
he knew it was a contagious disease but he couldn't help it. why would he when kagami had you?
the booming music through this small bar-club typa building didn't even help at all. he could see from a few meters away his teammates, aomine with his girl, akaashi inspecting his surroundings, midorima sipping his drink with a distasteful look, murasikabara not having a care in the world as he was chewing the cherry and kuroko trying to stop kise from chugging down another drink. then he sees you.
talking to a man.
you suddenly came in to his life and stole his heart.
he had you, and you had him. your fingers wrapped around each other as your feelings were confessed on that night before.
kagami feels special as he looks at you, you were chortling and he couldn't even care about the man.
it made him feel special at the thought that you chose him out of everyone.
he felt so lucky, as if he just won a lottery prize as you cheer for him at his game, making him attain victory. he never knew were it started but you were the very person he needed.
the woman he loves who was the brightest star in his universe, a trophy that nobody has but him. to kagami, you were the river flowing down in a slow steady ocean in amsterdam. to kagami, you were the very air he breathes. the one who steadies him on the ground as the world crumbles behind him. you were his home.
kagami believed that love was an emotion that was passionate, something that everybody has to wait for. but when he looks at you, he can't help but be proud of the way he suddenly confessed his feelings back then. (albeit embarrassing to him.)
he could still remember the way your lips first felt like against his, hovering as if there's no tomorrow. kagami could still remember the way you wrapped him around your finger, forever stealing his heart as he did with yours.
it felt like yesterday, when the both of you were walking and he suddenly had the urge to clasped his hands around your much smaller ones. the beating of his heart against his ribcage and the clammy feeling of his hands wasn't something he'd forget. ever.
it already was embedded in his head the moment your delicate hands were wrapped around his calloused ones.
kagami could never forget this feeling. he will never forget the way he would get all jittery and nervous with the way you smile at him, or with the way you reserved a soft spot in your heart for him. like the way you did with yours, he had an even more softer spot for you.
anyone could see his gaze, kuroko was really wet from the rain yet he offered you his umbrella, leaving his light-blue haired partner sneezing the next day.
kagami could feel this feeling wouldn't fade. it was like you were his very memory his brain muscle can never forget, maybe like a broken record replaying over and over in his head.
it was no lie that you were really beautiful, yet a mystery to everyone. they couldn't fathom what was so different about you. they were intimidated with the way you gaze at them, yet the red hair saw nothing so different.
you were so perfect in his eyes.
everything, every moment and every second spent with you feels like time is slowing down. the laugh, the smiles, the echos of it all- you slow down time.
kagami could feel it, he feels like a kid- the happiness, the innocent touches, and the adrenaline rush. everything about it was so special to him.
it was like butterflies were the things he ate in the morning as he hears your laugh, even when his joke was so unfunny.
love consumed him. everybody could tell.
but what do they know?
do they know how you brighten up his day and make him so fuzzy? does everyone know that you make kagami so weak in the knees for you as you whisper sweet-nothings in to his ear as the monsters of insecurities come back crawling to him? would everyone know that your lips against kagami felt so right to him? that it felt so good?
you're the blood running along his veins, the pulse through his life. the heart his yearns for and has, and the way it pumped out with so much adrenaline and blood filling up his body. you're the seratonin that makes him much more happier and much more lively.
you were the adrenaline that rushed across his whole body as he plays basketball and he could hear, see you in the stands cheering wearing his jersey on. you were the the iron streaming along his blood. the one that functioned his heart beat everyday.
oh gosh, no dopamine swarming in his head can conquer his happy days with you.
and it makes him warm and fuzzy that you chose him. out of everyone. you could've chosen somebody rich and more good looking than him. somebody more who has self-control and discipline. but it goes all away out the window as you tell him "i love you and only you."
it feels like he won the lottery ticket that can conquer all his bills. yet he knows this isn't just a lottery ticket he won.
to kagami, you were much more than that. you were worth everything.
kagami could feel his jaw slacking as he sees you smile at the man. you know he's looking, yet you were teasing him with this.
clearly, you had no likes for the man. the wedding ring against your ring finger says so.
kagami knows your his. and only his.
but this man was no ordinary man, he could see the way this random man was looking you up and down. he even ignored kagami's presence when he walked up to you and dragged you away from where you were!
having enough of teasing the love of your life, you sauntered your way over to him with a smirk he's all too familiar with. that teasing smile of yours only pumping him up.
making your way to him, you let out a short chuckle with the way his arms immediately wrapped around your waist, wine long forgotten as he placed it on the side. he lowers his face to the crook of your neck where he could feel your pulse surging as he placed a lazy kiss over it, making you gulp and sigh from the sensation.
" were ya teasing me back there doll?" kagami mutters out lowly, face nearing below your collarbone. "if you're trying to make me jealous then it's working. you win the game now." his voice on your collarbone sent vibrations throughout your whole body as he placed another even more lazy kiss.
carding your way through his red tussles of hair, you chuckled at his admit of defeat, making him groan even more as his body came back to his full height. "aww, is my poor taiga jealous?" you teased out as you sent him a wide grin, only to receive a low growl from him.
"ofcourse i am, did you see the way he was looking at you? it was like he was a predator! i was ready to come swoop you out there!" taiga whisper-shouted in your ear as the grin on your face only widened.
"aw, but you know im only yours right?" you muttered out near his lips as your arms wrapped around his neck pulled him down to your height. breath fanning over his, making him groan lowly against your lips as you didn't make the move kissing him.
kagami's hand immediately went to the base of your neck, pushing it forward as your lips crashed on his. the kiss was sweet at first, which quickly turned passionate as he pulled you closer, hands around his neck as he circles small shapes at your sides.
kagami let's out a small groan as he feels you tug his crimson tussles, hands on your waist tightened more if that was even possible. you feel yourself move, kiss not breaking yet even when your back collided with the wall.
his teeth tugged at your bottom lip, biting it as you let out an incoherent sound. the loud sound of music filled both your ears but you didn't care as you tasted the wine he drank from before, you could feel his body all over yours.
taiga was so warm, like this kiss you were sharing. his hands being placed next to your head to the wall as his whole figure covered you from the view of the man you were talking to- paying him no mind.
your lover gave you no space to breathe as he pulled away but as immediately as he pulled away, he kissed you again. it was dangerous game to play like this with kagami-the jealousy of this man was really contagious.
but you loved the sensation he sent through your body as he places a few wet kisses on your jaw, making you sigh from the sensation as he lowered himself up to your neck to press more fervent kisses there before staring up at you.
"i wonder what goes through your mind, doll." taiga started as he finally went up to his full height. his red eyes stared at yours, eyeing you as if you were a prey as you stared back at him.
you hummed out as his hands went back to your waist, circling shapes around it as your hands were still wrapped around him. "you know how to rile me up. do you always have to do that so that you could get a big kiss from me? you could just ask me, you know?" he curiously asked, music so loud.
He knew what he wanted to say
But he didn't know how to word it
The dirty little Herbert was seeking an escape
The guiltiness that started
Soon as the other part had stopped
you smirked up at him, a glint in your eyes as you stared at him through your lashes. "baby what's the fun in that? plus you look hot when you're aggressive." you said out to him as he growled once more, tugging your waist as he lowered his face near your face again.
D is for delightful
And try and keep your trousers on
I think you should know you're his favourite worst nightmare
"if you wanted that then you could've said so, baby." kagami said so lowly near your ear, breath fanning over you ear lobe, making your face flush as he places his head on your shoulder.
you could feel taiga chuckle against your skin as it sent vibrations throughout your whole body, leaving you speechless. "speechless right now babe? im sure that man would've loved to hear more words from your mouth." he added as you groaned, face flushing as you buried your face on his toned chest.
"stop teasing taiga!" you squeaked out, face still flushed against his chest as kagami chuckled more. "but you did that to me, love. one can play the game too." he muttered out as you looked at him, cheeks coated with tinges of pink. kagami's smirk grew wider as he saw your face. victory.
"okay fine. you win!" you blurted out as he laughed, the sound making the flowers bloom once more in your chest. "that's what i thought. never knew los angeles was going to be fun this season!" he laughed out again, you soon joining as he left a small peck on your forehead.
los angeles was indeed fun this season.
and so was the kiss you shared with kagami.
d was really for dangerous.
you couldn't wait for more.

She's in Love with the Boy - Jake Seresin x OC
A/N: This is part two in my series She Had Me at Heads Carolina, I don't know why I see country music + hangman as a thing (ok so maybe I do know why) but here we are. I wrote this half awake this morning and it's probably a lot less cute than I think it is.
tagging: @mamachasesmayhem for the update lol
pairing: Lt. Jake Seresin x fem! OC
warnings/content: literally just Jake drunkenly singing 90s country music badly again
word count: 2.4k
It had been two days since your beach trip, and you were thinking over the past 48 hours as you sat at your vanity, brushing your hair out before getting ready to go out that night.
Courtney had been far more bold than you were at the beach that day, having gone home with Bradley as soon as it was offered. You knew she was crazy for him already just by the way she looked at him. Sheâd always been one of those love at first sight types, the kind who believes in soulmates and finding that perfect person who makes you swoon with one look. It didnât typically work out for her, wearing her heart on her sleeve and being so head over heels in love every time, but, this one occasion, you really hoped it did. She hadnât talked about anything but him for the last day and a half itâd been since she got home - heâd been the perfect gentleman, driving her home the next morning in his 1972 Ford Bronco, dropping her off and seeing that she got inside ok, even though it was broad daylight and you and Stephanie were both still home.Â
Stephanie had been texting with Bob ever since, giggling and blushing at the small screen every so often. Where Courtney over shared about her time with Rooster, Stephanie undershared about her relationship with Bob. She kept her lips sealed about just about everything, including their date yesterday morning. Bob had shown up in uniform to pick her up on his way into the base, wanting to take her for breakfast before they both had to go into work for the day.Â
As far as you and Jake went, youâd been exchanging text messages back and forth with one another. It started with Jake sending you a âHey there Heads Carolina,â to you responding with âDoes that make you Tails California?â From there, it evolved into a near constant back and forth between the two of you, swapping country playlists and favourite songs, facts about your lives back home, yourselves, your likes, your dislikes. You werenât normally one to fall in love instantly, but after two days of exchanging texts, you found yourself dying to see him again. Heâd apologized for not taking you out yet, heâd been called in for an early briefing the first day, and yesterday heâd been stuck late working on something, none of which you could know any details about. Courtney and Stephanie had tried reassuring you that he was interested in you, but part of you wondered if maybe it was just Jake being too polite to tell you he didnât want to see you again.
Your phone had buzzed violently against the wooden top of your vanity a couple of hours ago, vibrating and moving across the slick, matte white finish of the furniture. You looked down and saw it was Jake, or as youâd saved him in your phone, Tails, California.
âHey sweets, I was wondering if youâre free tonight. Karaoke at The Hard Deck. I need a duet partner. Iâd sing with Rooster, but heâs a spotlight hog.â
âI can come, but that singing on the beach was a one time thing. I felt bad you were getting roasted alive.â
âIâm not that bad.â
âReally?â
âAre you not going to feel bad if I get booed off stage tonight? I might end up getting drunk and singing Amazed or something.â
âOh God, canât have you butchering poor Lonestar. The whole state of Texas might shun you. Iâll be there.â
âThanks sweets, karaoke starts at 7. Iâll be there a little earlier.â
You breathed a sigh of relief as you realized that Jake hadnât been avoiding you on purpose. You were never the type to get in too deep after one meeting, but something about Jake had you completely taken by him. You couldnât put your finger on it, but you could feel the infatuation with him brewing whenever you thought about him. You scrolled through your phone and settled on a country playlist youâd built years ago during college, back when you still lived in Tennessee. You hadnât even been remotely interested in it in years before the beach, but since Jake got you singing along with him, you found yourself wanting to revisit it for the nostalgia. Plus, you wanted to make sure you didnât humiliate yourself on karaoke night by not knowing the words to 90s country songs, which were all probably fair game if Jake was choosing.
As the opening notes of Sheâs In Love With The Boy began filling your room, you hummed the familiar tune. You picked a sweet, pale blue daisy print sundress from your closet, pulling its thin fabric over your head as you got dressed. You began rummaging through your closet, praying you hadnât left any boxes of shoes at your parents house back in Tennessee as you looked for the perfect compliment to your outfit. Pulling out a pair of classic cognac brown cowboy boots, you gave yourself an eyeroll as you put them on, unable to deny you were doing it purely to impress him. You turned to yourself in the mirror and examined your outfit. Your hair was curled and neatly pushed back off your face with a baby blue headband, one that perfectly matched hue of your dress. Your makeup was simple and natural, a nice compliment to the vibe of the dress youâd chosen. As you nodded your head once, you grabbed your phone, turning your music off.Â
A short drive later, you were at The Hard Deck with Courtney and Stephanie in tow, looking for Jake and his friends. Bob waved you all over with a friendly smile, and Stephanie practically ran to him. He put his arm around her affectionately and kissed her cheek. He handed her a drink and smiled.Â
âHey, I know Roosterâs up at the bar, Courtney,â Bob said with a nod towards where Bradley was standing. Bradley waved excitedly, his aviator sunglasses clipped to his white tank top under his open Hawaiian print dress shirt. Bob was sporting a simple jeans and oxford-blue dress shirt combo, with the sleeves of his shirt rolled up to his elbows, showing off his somewhat surprisingly muscular arms. He smiled as he pointed to the dart board where Jake was standing on the other side of the bar, sporting a Texas Longhorns baseball jersey, light washed denim jeans and cowboy boots.Â
âHangmanâs currently mopping the floor with Coyote in darts right now. I donât know how that guy does it, but he hits bullseye every time. Itâs literally my job to hit targets and I canât even do it as accurately as he does every time in darts,â Bob shakes his head in disbelief as he laughs. âHe should be almost done, I think. I donât really know how long a game of darts goes on for?â
You politely excused yourself from your friends for a moment, heading over to where Jake was standing. He leaned in to his step, tossing another perfectly thrown dart at the board again.Â
âNice shot,â you said cooly as you looked at him.
âHey! I figured Iâd play some darts until you got here,â Jake laughed softly as he nodded his head before setting the darts down and leaning on the high top table that his drink sat on.Â
âCourtney and Stephanie were invited too, so we just carpooled down, took us a bit longer than Iâd hoped because Courtney couldnât decide what outfit Rooster would like better on her,â You shook your head as you thought about how silly it sounded when you said it out loud, âShe really likes him, wants to make a good impression.â
âOh trust me, he hasnât shut the fuck up about how great she is over the last two days. Itâs kind of cute in a way though. Also kind of annoying in a way but Iâm letting it slide because heâs in love,â Jake smirked as he put the amber coloured glass bottle to his lips, taking a sip, âYou can tell her though, he doesnât care what sheâs wearing. Heâs going to respond the same way if she shows up in a trash bag.âÂ
âNoted. Stephanie is getting all giggly over Bob, but I sheâs always giggly and blushing so itâs hard to tell with her. Sheâs not asâŚopen as Courtney is. Although, I think sheâs pretty smitten since he took her for breakfast yesterday and picked her up in his uniform. That alone probably sold her.â
âOh she liked that? That was my idea. Bobâs a little shy and a littleâŚinexperienced when it comes to dating. Figured Iâd help the poor bastard out a little bit on that one. He really likes her.âÂ
âYour idea?â
âYeah, he had to meet me yesterday for a training exercise, but I told him I could stall for an hour if he wanted to take her out or something. I suggested he just wear his uniform, because girls apparently love men in uniform. And I clearly wasnât wrong,â Jakeâs smile was smug, yet genuine as he shrugged his shoulders.
âWhat are you, some kind of professional matchmaker?â You retorted dryly as you raised an eyebrow at him, trying to hide the fact that you were about to break out into a grin.
âNah, I just know the poor guy needs the extra push, ya know?â Jake set his beer down as his eyes scanned over your body, taking in your outfit choice for the evening, âYou look fantastic, sugar. You even brought out your cowboy boots?âÂ
âI thought I left them back home, but I found them in the back of the closet, I havenât worn them since I finished college. Even then, it was just for bars and homecoming. Iâm amazed they fit.â
âHey, I appreciate a good boot,â He nodded, gesturing to his own matching pair of cowboy boots. âEspecially if weâre gonna be belting out another classic tonight. I have to see what our options are up there. Any preferences? I think weâre up after Payback and Fanboy. Not really a tough act to follow. The only one of us who can actually carry a fuckinâ tune is Rooster. Not fair he gets to look good with a mustache and sing,â Jake says as he mockingly pouts and rolls his eyes before grinning again.Â
âAw, jealous are we?â You teased, folding your arms across your chest as you raised your eyebrow at Jake.
âOnly because when I grow a mustache like that, I look like an 80s porn star,â He shakes his head and laughs, âCâmon, letâs go get a drink and get closer to the stage so we can see what weâre up against.â
He took your hand in his, and you couldnât help but notice how perfectly your hand fit in his. He smiled at the bartender, a pretty brunette woman, older than you both but by how much, you couldnât be sure.
âPenny, mâdear, can I get another beer and whatever Lauren here wants to drink?â He smiled at you before turning back to face Penny, nodding his head as he handed her his credit card. âHere, Iâll save myself the trouble and just leave this with you,â He laughed and put his wallet back in his pocket.Â
Jake handed you your drink and smiled as he tilted his head back towards the makeshift stage, where two men were currently butchering the entire melody of âYeah!â by Usher.Â
âTweedledee and tweedledum over here are almost finished up, itâs us next. You ready? Pick a song yet?â His green eyes looked at you full of intrigue as he awaited your reply.
âThe Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia?âÂ
Jake flipped through the options and shook his head, âNope.â
âChattahoochee?â
âYou want me to get up on stage and sing that opening verse about the river being hotter than a hoochie coochie?â
âGood point,â You laughed and shook your head, feeling the humiliation at the mere suggestion of it now that heâs brought it up.Â
âSheâs In Love With The Boy is on here. Thatâs a good one.â
âYou wanna sing Trisha Yearwood? Can your voice go that high?â
âAbsolutely not but itâs that or I down another beer and start belting out Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn with or without you.â
âFair enough, Trisha Yearwood it is.â
âHer daddy says, âhe ainât worth a lick, when it comes to brains heâs got the short end of the stick,â you belted out with as much passion as you and your cocktail could muster.
âBut Katieâs young and man she just donât care, sheâd follow Tommy anywhereâ Jake harmonized with his adorably out of key baritone, trying to carry the note as best as he could.
âMy daddy said, you wasnât worth a lick, when it came to brains you got the short end of the stickââ
âbut he was wrong and honey you are too, Katie looks at Tommy, like I still look at you.â
âSheâs in love with the boy, sheâs in love with the boy.â
As you and Jake continued to finish the last verse of the beloved country song, you couldnât help but think about the words. You looked over to Jake who shot you a grin while he gripped his microphone, giving the final line as much as he could as he sang it out.Â
âWhatâs meant to be will always find a way, sheâs gonna marry that boy someday.â
You took note of the way the makeshift spotlight highlighted his dark blonde hair and sunkissed skin, his green eyes shining brightly, and the unmistakeable grin of someone having the absolute time of their life on his face. He looked even better in this light than he did on the beach the other day, cowboy boots, off-key singing and all. The more you thought about it, the more you thought that maybe, just maybe, the song might have been more than just a song you chose for karaoke. Whether you wanted to admit it or not, maybe you were in fact in love with the boy this time.
