plot: nicola is an up and coming pop star and your muse is an established musician (and a PR nightmare).  Their management teams set up a tour between Nicola and your muse’s (indie/punk/alt/etc.) band to try and help both their images.  Neither are too thrilled about it so far.  

Nicola huffs as the photographer excuses them from their marks.  If they could hardly get through a promotional photoshoot without tearing at each other’s throats what made anybody think this tour was a good idea?  The brunette pulls on the robe that’s being offered to her before turning to face the other woman.  “You know you could at least pretend standing near me isn’t too much for your precious ego.”  She got the impression that she was an unwanted presence, almost like the other band, namely their front woman, didn’t believe she deserved this opportunity.  As much as she loved the idea of a feud to fuel ticket sales and for the drama of it all-- she much preferred her first big tour going smoothly.

a plea for organic connections again: so i was juuuust really getting into rp in late 2012/early 2013. i’ve discussed annie’s before because it was really messy towards the end, but at the start, it was all super rad. i had just joined, so i was sort of clumsily replying to everyone’s starters ( giant gifs of lauren conrad with starters written in the title line #throwback ) and another character responded to mine, a really cool lana del rey fc. and we just had them go back and forth for awhile, perhaps a few days before we even approached each other ooc.

but you guys, that friendship was amazing. those two characters were truly there for each other. they never fought over boys, they opened a business together, we were in the group long enough to have her muse do the father/daughter dance with mine at her wedding because that was her true family. and the mun behind that muse is actually one of my best friends irl now! 

i miss the days of organic connections. i miss simply feeling out chemistry and then maybe messaging each other like ‘hey, are you digging this?’ whether it was friendships or relationships, rps lasted longer because people were inspired to explore & develop these relationships instead of twenty minutes of plotting before a group opens that’s along the lines of ‘hey, my character needs someone to be in love with, would yours be into that?’ it just feels hollow. especially when you’re then left to force that connection between two muses that might not mesh the way you should they would, which makes it all even more tedious. 

and hey, i’ve been guilty of it, but every time i go through plotting these days, it’s like pulling teeth and it takes away from what makes writing fun and special. as soon as people don’t get their desired plots or they reocgnize that everyone has already established theirs, they leave. and things die. 

in summary/tldr: we need to chill out with pre-plotting. if more rps began to encourage interactions/not indulging in 24 hours of forcing connections and then plotting once you feel out your chemistry, i’m certain that rps would last longer. if i look back at every recent connection i’ve mad that was genuinely interesting, they weren’t plotted. so much good stuff can come out of organic interactions, trust me.
